Not what I expected.. You can only listen to bird calls for 30 seconds at a time and there’s no information on how to cancel.

Not able to contact. When I select “contact us” all it does is close the app.

Best app for bird watchers. This is I very accurate identifying birds. It also offers choices of other species as it catches all different species in the surroundings. I love it❣️

Backyard bird watcher. I am only interested in identifying birds in my backyard and have no interest in purchasing the bird identifier pro. I have tried using the sound recorder and when I try to identify the sounds on that it takes me to the page where I can purchase the app.

Never once correctly identified. Tried dozens of times to use the app and never once received a correct identification. The “100%” identification result was always 100% incorrect. Such a bummer. The idea of this tool is great. The execution, not so much.

Two thumbs down. My first recording was unsuccessful as the identifier was ‘unable to identify’ and the cost is outrageous per week and year. Sickens me as so many creators of the multitudes of applications seem to think that all Americans are wealthy. May their greed empty their income!

Poor first impression. I set the app to identify by sound and even though I could hear at least five distinct birds, the app identified one with only 25% confidence. Then I ran it again and it would not provide any identification without subscribing either weekly or annual.

Great App Except for Pushing Their Subscriptions!. This app works wonderfully but it’s constantly pushing their subscription with a pop up page that fills the whole screen. Very disappointing! I’ll look for something less annoying.

Only lets you use it once for free then you have to upgrade to premium. Don’t download this app. You can only use the identifier once for free then you have to pay to upgrade. It’s a rip off

Review. I recently refreshed my app for the Merlin Bird Identifer. Unfortunately, it is a complete ‘dud’. It is nothing like the prior version which was intuitive, accurate, and entertaining. I’ll try to find another app - but doubt that I will be successful. I wish I never updated the app. I’ll try to cancel my payment of a few minutes ago.

Fantastic app. This app is amazing. It identifies birds by sounds; even by wing fluttering. Truly astounding.

Disappointed - but found a better app. I paid the expensive one week price to test and it didn’t even identify the birds correctly. I found another app named after a famous wizard and it blew my mind. And so far it’s been free.

Doesn’t work, and requires a purchase to even find this out. Doesn’t work as well as Merlin

Unfortunately, every time I use this, it gives me the wrong bird. I will be getting a refund from this app. I have tried to use the sound for the birds and every time it gives me a different bird for one sound.

Not too impressed. The reason that I’m not very impressed is several reasons. I subscribed to the app and called up my first bird. I was excited that I had recorded a fish crow. The sound recognition was great when I listened back to the recording. It was much more amplified than I was hearing in person. However, it had me make a collection, which I promptly named “birds on my deck” I thought “oh this is great!” Then I paid for this subscription. I can no longer find anything. No collections, not even a record of what I have just listened to prior. You’re just starting all over again every bird as if it is the first, and you do not have a local collection of any kind. I am somewhat disappointed. If it doesn’t change… I won’t be renewing.

Not helpful. I’m getting so many pop ups asking me to upgrade to a premium subscription, the app is basically unusable. I’d prefer to try out this version first, then decide whether or not I want to upgrade based on how often I use it and how helpful I find it, but it doesn’t look like I’ll ever be getting to that point.

Springtime music!. It is amazing to hear all the birdsong and then have each one identified. Wonderful wonderful!

Fun and Educational. Getting a kick out of learning which bird makes what sounds.

Great idea but unfortunately not working. Each time I recorded the same bird it showed me different kind of birds.

Pay a fee only after downloading and setting up???. Why don’t you be upfront about the fees, not only for the basic application, but eve more for the premium application. How many applications do I need before I’m bankrupt???

Love this app (8 year old). The reason I like this app is because I can learn about way more birds than I used to learn about birds. This app helps me also because me and my family can learn a lot about all the really cool bird. There are in the world, especially hummingbirds.

Not worth the purchase. Won’t let me play the sounds. Will not ever identify a bird called that I have. Not worth the money.

Couldn’t Identify Properly. We have a Red Tailed Hawk that lives right out near our condo here in North Carolina. We know what a hawk sounds like. I used this app multiple times to see if it could identify the hawks call- and nope would only pick up the other birds making noise in the area. A Hawks call is VERY LOUD AND DISTINCT yet this app wouldn’t identify it.

This app. I’m an older gentleman trying but this app left me scratching my bald head. Purchased the pro version and am trying to figure out how to delete.

Too expensive!. I have moved to the Mountains so I wanted just to find out which birds are in my yard. Only one pic was accepted before they said Pay Up!!

Not good... Basically, I found the app does not work very well at all (at least in Australia). Furthermore, there is no easy way to unsubscribe from the premium service. I have tried reaching out and have gotten no response. Perhaps they read reviews and will respond.

Not free. Worked 1 time free for a test. After that it would only work if you pay. I don’t mind paying, but don’t advertise it as a free app with in app purchases when the “in app purchases” are the actual app

We rely on Merlin. This app came in handy when we were monitoring nestlings in our bluebird box and guarding it against house wrens that wanted to sabotage the brood.

Misleading. It said it was a free app but then you have to purchase it to find out what bird it was Very misleading.

Wrong download. Three attempts to get the photo version but downloaded the sound app anyway.

I hate this app!!. I can’t even use a sound title I got a pay premium no I can’t do that it’s too expensive and when it says 80% off I think it looks like they are lying and they told me it was a scam, and I can’t even use the Way looks identifier, and Birda is better use that app instead.

Thank you for this app. We are surrounded by trees and love listening to the birds. I love the app because I can not distinguish which birds are in my yard singing and it makes me so thankful that even if they are hiding in the trees I can identify them through your app. So thank you very much!

App does nothing unless you buy an annual subscription. I was under the impression that this app would help me identify what bird is making a particular sound. I have attempted to use it on multiple occasions and it doesn’t do anything… Why would I pay for a subscription for an app that doesn’t do anything. Maybe I’m missing something, please enlighten me.

Bird Identification. Would only identify one bird. When I tried to do a second identification, it kept pulling up to the subscription option. Which I didn't want. It also kept popping up for an app review when trying to identify and figure out the app. Going to delete and find another app.

Mistook this for another much better app. I purchased this thinking it is the same one my husband has and loves. It’s not. It only identifies 1 bird rather than showing all that it captures in one recording. I am in NZ and when I just used it, it said the birdcall is the Wild Turkey. These are North American birds not found in NZ. The accuracy level was 0%, which I believe. So far it’s been wrong on the identification more than it’s been correct. Don’t waste your money.

Won’t identify the sound recording. I just downloaded this and went to have it identify the recording and keep getting the error “Cannot Request at this Time”. Pretty disappointed. Going to uninstall as I can see in the version history it’s really buggy. iPhone 14 Pro Max fully updated os.

Recommend. If sitting on the porch or walking through the wood and hearing the remarkable voice(s) of our free feathered friends this app allows the identification of the one(s) responsible. Enjoyable and educational.👍

Australia useless. Downloaded tried to sample, to see if it works here. They gave one sample to test and came up with a Mexican bird. Clearly not in Australia IMO Atypical scam promise the world and then after you have paid for a years subscription to get some value, you find the app is useless in Australia. Buyer beware

Birds Identifier Call ID. This app could not even identify common bird calls from actual recordings!

Birdsong identifier. I purposely chose an Australian bird identifier. It doesn’t get more Aussie as a kookaburra but it was identified as a woodpecker. This app hasn’t given me a single Australian result. There is no way to get a refund that I can see. This was a great idea but at this point, please save your money.

Total scam. I don’t know why Apple approved this app. It’s a total scam and rip off. It asks you to give a 5-star rating then forces you to pay 50$ PER YEAR to enter the app. And the ID is terrible.

Get Merlin Bird ID instead. My first impression was searching for a herring gull, and photos of a common chiffchaff showed up for some reason. I couldn't choose the area I was located in either. Most people can't even afford five dollars a week. I’ve been using Merlin for years, and I am even a patron for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and you get far more information for way cheaper. Merlin Bird ID is free; you just need an account. And downloading bird packs is free, too :)
