No digital input support lost you 4 stars!. Makers of software and hardware alike need to recognize; the user will not "take what their given", when we can have what we want. The audio input was a nice preliminary solution, very affordable, and no doubt made IK Multimedia a few bucks selling iRig to every guitarist and bassist with an iPhone or iPad, but we've moved past that now. Apogee's Jam and the Alesis I/O Dock have made digital input possible, but your refusal to support their hardware in an attempt to force the use of the iRig will only result in a decline in sales of your app. We paid a lot of money for this app, show us a return on our investment with support for digital input. To not do so will make AmpliTube irrelevant in the iOS audio production industry, a catastrophic business decision considering how much REAL production happens on iDevices now, and will in the future. I'll give the 4 stars back if you start to play well with others.

Not impressed, wasted money. I like many bought the bundle that includes Slash, Hendrix and a few others. Little did I know the in app purchases can only be used within the individual app. In other words, if I'm playing "hey joe" using the Hendrix add on, if I decide to rip up some GnR I have to close out the Hendrix app and open the slash app. In order to have all these accessible in one app, you have to buy them again. They do do a good job at letting you know about what products you can buy from them. The sounds overall I think are great, it's just a pain to not be able to work seamlessly between the presets. So much so I just rely on the onboard effects of my Peavey VIP2 and no longer bother using the iRig I bought from them. I have read about the latest update allowing you to restore purchases across all apps. I and others on the forums though have not been able to get it to work. I have reset my iPad back to factory default to see if it would allow it to work. NO DICE!

Great except can't easily transfer/share projects. not a five because I can't import a project from another ipad2. Using 2 ipads and I have to export each track separately and import separately. Not sure what the purpose of being able to copy a whole project & underlying files with itunes file sharing out to the pc hard drive if I can't import the whole project folder back. A number of my projects were corrupted when I added the first version of studio. still experiencing some corruption and stuttering on playback. I had to export every track from over fifty projects to get rid of a ghost project called Inbox. i had to delete the app to fix.

iRig and Amplitube. The Amplitube software itself is top-notch. A fantastic way to practice, play with songs, and flat out jam to your headphones without bothering those around you. You can also play through it to your amp, but I prefer the real stomp effects when performing. the older iRig plug caused a lot of noise when playing through an amp. Now the downside was the iRig plug itself. The non-HD iRig lasted about a year before the headphone plug became unusable. First the stereo went intermittent in and out, and then eventually stopped altogether. I attempted, but could not fix that issue. Finally it failed completely. I know it was because of the cheap headphone female end of the plug on the iRig. Then I got the iRig HD. Yep, it is a steep price, but man what a difference. You can adjust the gain to reduce the background noises. Everything sounds so much better. These plugs are likely to last since it uses the 32 pin connector. I it angry when the original plug went bad because I really enjoy this software. The old plug is cheap. Now that I have the newer plug, I am much happier, and I can now go back and play with my music. Bottom line, great software, fun app, but don't g with the cheap iRig. Everything else is totally worth the investment.

Great sounds / Useless recorder. I've been an AmpliTube for iOS user from the very beginning. I still use the app for clean to overdriven sounds with the Fender amp models, which I like very much. I also love the red compressor as an effect on vocals through AudioBus into MultiTrack DAW, and there is some magic in the mastering compressor too. I have found the drum looper to be very useful as well. However, I'm very unhappy that IK makes no mention of the studio IAP not working well on an iPad 2. I get horrible stuttering and clicking, which never happened until I purchased the studio add on, which has made recording anything with the drum looper and 3 tracks or more of guitars/bass/vocals impossible. An IK tech support representative seriously suggested buying a new iPad as a solution for the stuttering. Can you believe that? I run 16-18 tracks (effects/plugins with tracks frozen) on Auria with no stuttering. MultiTrack DAW also allows me to run 24 tracks simultaneously without stuttering. The AmpliTube studio's track "freezing" doesn't help at all. iPad 2 users beware. I would be remiss if I didn't add that IK's shameless self promotion and advertising banners still pop up asking me to buy their latest apps and interfaces when I open the app. If IK is reading this, give us the option to disable the pop up banners. It could look something like this, "Don't show this again".

Awesome. Keep in mind that this an iPad app, and not a physical amp. Great tones for practicing, nice crunch and clean tones, and a half-decent metal amp (again, iPad amp. This thing isn't going to sound like an Orange or Blackstar, or Marshall, but it gets the job done certainly.) The tuner is fairly accurate, and the ability to record and play along with iPod songs is awesome. The most important benefit of this amp in my opinion is convenience. I can't count the number of times I've neglected to practice because I didn't want to power up my rig and get everything dialed in. This app makes it incredibly easy to plug in and play, and get a good warm up or practice in. My skill as a guitarist and my enjoyment of guitar have both improved as a result of this amp. People concerned about price should take into account the breadth of sound that you can dial in, and the convenience of this app, compared to buying many stomp boxes, a practice or starter amp, then upgrading as you improve. If I could go back in time, this would have been my starter amp. Great for beginners, and good for people who need convenience in practice. Well done!

Give us More Bass Options Already!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Amplitube is good and all. I have the full paid version. It works well without crashing. I love the new drum looper, although the interface could be more intuitive (never underestimate the power of simple start and stop buttons). BUT Amplitube is really missing in the Bass options area!!! As long as Amplitube has been on the market it only offers a couple of Ampeg type amps and a 1x15" bass speaker cab. Where are the SWR, Eden, Mark Bass, GK, Mesa, Genz-Benz, etc type heads?!?!? Where are the 2x10, 4x10, 8x10, 1x18, and true 1x12, and 2x12 bass cabs at!?!?!?!? Not everyone plays rock music and not everyone playes electric guitar which is what this whole app is apparently tailored to. GIVE THE BASS PLAYERS MORE TO WORK WITH ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would give it a full 5 stars if it had more bass.

Finally! Beware of dreadful customer support though. This update was long coming, they promised it more than a year ago and I’ve complained many times about the lack of digital in/out. Even though IK Multimedia treats their customers like crap (they banned my account from the forums simply for implying that they purposely only supported their own hardware for so long), I have to say that this update is wonderful. The audio and amp simulation with AmpliTube through the IO Dock is the best of the all the apps out there and I’ve been trying them all. There’s something very warm and analog-like to their amp and FX simulations, something that’s sorely lacking from all the others (StudioDevil Guitar Amp excluded, but it’s got only one amp and one FX). The MIDI support of AmpliTube is also top-notch and I could instantly hook up my Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro for patch changes and get the per-preset MIDI bindings work instantly. The master FX section makes a huge difference to me and the included compressor and EQ are well worth it. The multi-track recording finally gets really usable with the digital audio input, it’s just a shame that you can’t use it as a looper. Finally, the retina graphics are amazing, Jamup looks nice in that department too, both are better looking than AmpKit.

Fantastic easy to use, great sounding app at a fantastic price.... Yes it costs a little more than other iOS apps, but it's 1/4th the price of some of the physical pedals I've bought (& no longer bother to use) and way less than most desktop music apps. iPad makes it super simple to fine tune your sound, mixing and matching pedals (or buying new ones for the price of a bus ride). Great tones, great variety, can take with you wherever you go and pull out to get the sound of playing through mucho equipment in seconds with no lugging around, setting up, finding cables, wall plugs etc etc... Use headphones or any stereo/amp/car stereo etc etc with a line in and get great sounds... I am happy to be able to now record single track for those times when I hit on something and it just sounds right; and it's nice that there’s flexibility to add multitrack recording (again for the price of 2 or 3 beers), but I mostly used the older version, and will continue to use the update, for just amusing myself rather than expecting a full recording studio.

Not bad but not great. I like this app but after playing around definitely do not feel that its worth $20. Garagband's built in amp and effects are just as good and garaageband is only ten bucks. Plus I couldn't find a way to play through this app and record with another. Also you would think 20 bucks would unlock everything but no they are clearly out to make money with this thing. I wish I could get my money back, having said that I do enjoy playing around with the effects so I does make a nice practice amp when you are on the go. I tried to plug it in to my amp with the irig and all I got was tons of feedback and strange noises. Apparantly it works but there no easy way to get the proper levels on everything..so if you got 20 bucks to blow go for it. but don't expect and serious recording or live effects with an amp.

How many times do I have to pay?. I first purchased the Fender bundle. The amps were usable for practice and getting down ideas. So I bought the 8-track recorder. As I was clearing space on my ipad, I thought I could delete and restore purchases. It worked for everything but the Amplitube products. Recently, because I wanted to practice without dragging amps to the motel room, I re-purchased the Fender bundle. I had pretty much given up on being able to do much else with the product, but then I found out that Amplitube had added audiobus support. This was enough to sucker me in. I ponied up the cash for the Amplitube bundle. Now, I find that to use the Fender amps I've already purchased, Amplitube wants me to buy them yet again as an in-app purchase through the Amplitube bundle. To add insult to injury, the registration process isn't working. Bottom line? Clunky dongle, pretty good Fender sounds, mediocre generic Amplitube sounds, the worst customer support I think I've ever seen, stupid business model--though I must admit they now have 35 dollars of mine that I wish I could get back. Learn from my mistakes, foolishness, and gullibility--Don't throw away your money on this company.

Sales pop ups every time you launch this app ruin it. I really like Amplitube, it has a lot going for it. Sounds good, attractive interface and intuitive to use. Unfortunately there is one thing that ruins it for me... even after you pay for it, every time you launch you get pop-ups trying to sell you the recorder or the iklip. Arrrgghh! Frustrating and unnecessary. I've tken to using Ampkit+ instead since it isn't trying to sell me something every time I launch it. Come on IK Media, if an app is good it sells it's own upgrades. Please respect your users enough to turn the irritating sales pop ups off! You have an add gear button so put anything you want to sell under that please.

I had the crash issue too, then tech support.... ...... Sent me an email to try the following: "Try this: Double-click on your Home button. This will show you a small list of apps at the bottom of your screen. These are apps that are open in the background, in multi-task mode. Hold down any one of these apps until they start to "shake". You will then see a RED minus sign for each app. Click on each app's minus sign to make sure they are closed and not taking up your iPad's resources. Once all apps are closed, try launching AmpliTube again. If this doesn't work, try turning the iPad off and restarting. Do this by holding down the power/standby button for a few seconds until you see a red slider that says: "slide to power off". Move the slider and wait until the iPad turns off completely. Wait another 10-20 seconds, then turn the iPad back on. This will clear the internal memory, and may fix the issue. " It worked for me, hope it works for you!

Great interface - horrible sound. It's really too bad - app is great in so many ways especially in terms of usability/portability but the sound is terrible. I feel like I absolutely have to use noise suppression pedal pretty much all the time and even then it sounds bad (very noisy). I don't know if this is due to some inherent hardware limitation of ipad or iphone (I have both apps) or the irig quality is not good enough but I can't use the system as is (at least it was not that much money waisted - not as bad as when I spent a few hundred on actual physical amp that ended up sounding horrible - I guess in this case you get what you pay for). Update: I moved on to Guitar Jack 2 (from Sonoma) and could not be happier (you get very clean guitar and mic interface and also can monitor with your headphones through that device). Garageband works perfectly with it (as well as Multitrack DAW and couple of Sonoma's own apps such as FourTrack). As a matter of fact, supposedly the only major guitar app that does not work with Guitar Jack 2 is Amplitude (makes you wonder whether they purposely do this to protect iRig which is the worst guitar related device I have ever waisted money on). The one big down side of Guitar Jack 2 for many people may be cost - it goes for $150 (but at least in this case you get what you pay for).

Great but pricey in the app realm! I personally love it.. Would have given 5 stars but can't get it to import iTunes music library songs for practicing along with. However iTunes and Amplitude work together so you can set up your amp and then switch to iTunes to play songs. Hopefully app update will someday sort out this one glitch. However this should be a 5 Star app and I don't get some of the reviews. This app is one of the best simulators I have heard. If it was the amps and pedals alone it would be great but you get many other features. Yes you have to pay to activate but since when do you get hardware for free? You don't. Any experienced gear head or musician understands that you have to pay to get quality gear. 28 years playing and to have only paid a little over $200 for this rig is amazing. 10 years ago this much versatility would have cost $1000-$1500. Keep the updates coming. Love them. Hopefully you can add some Boss pedals soon.

Works for me. I don't usually give out five star ratings but I'm having so much fun with this app that it wouldn't be honest not to. But YMMV depending on what you're looking for. I have Pod Farm Platinum on my laptop and was just looking for a headphone practice amp that was easy to carry and had the sounds I use the most. I'm a Fender amp guy and love the way this sim imitates the bright channel of a blackface including reverb and trem, and how I can finesse the sound by changing the cabs and mics. I think the setup looks elegant and is easy to use. A recorder would be a nice frill but isn't a make or break issue for me. But I think that, like choosing a guitar, what you think is going to depend on what you need it to do. I love the way this app sounds and works, and I think I paid a fair price for it. For me, that makes it a good purchase

New to the electric guitar. I am new to the electric guitar and am unfamiliar with all the various stomp effects and how they can work together to create various sounds. Along with the selection of amps available within the application I can play with all of these variations without having to spend a lot of money buying the stomp pedals just to see if I like it. Just for this alone I believe that this application is worth playing with. It is also a lot of fun just thrashing around to see what kind of noise you can make.

Amplitube + Apogee Jam = Win. I've had this app for well over a year but never cared a whole lot for it (I always buy up all the pedals during sales). Recently they've stepped their game up pretty nice, they've finally offered legit metal effects that I've been waiting for since release and support for the 30 pin connector (Apogee jam). This combined with my iPad, and speaker dock has become a force to be reckoned with. While my dock isn't loud enough for a live show, it does great for small jams with friends (the entire rig fits right in my sling back pack). Just be aware that they sell the iPad/iPhone app separately though. (I own both and it can get pretty pricey without sales going on) PS it's best to buy the original/full Amplitube app and add the other packages to it (keeps everything organized the best)

So I paid twice. I'm not too happy about it but it's better than blowing it on a prostitute...I guess.....The only reason I chose this over the 9.99 jam up play and it's 16 stompboxes is...well I don't know. I like the sounds I get with this so I figure why change and ten extra bucks is nothing to whine about..I guess I'm a simple dude...it's kinda like I've been using fl studio for so long why change? This is not a bad app all I need is a midi guitar pedal board since I only have an ipad 2 with the old school bluetooth I can't get the blueboard until I upgrade my ipad and I'm not doing that until the 6 generation comes out which should be in the next 6 months..I'm rambling.

Stop the popup ads!. OK, first my biggest complaint. Stop the popups telling me about the in app purchases available. I wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that I have spent $70+ purchasing this app and all upgrades. There is nothing else left to purchase, stop telling to check out other pieces. Now for the app itself. I use the Ampkit link for my interface and it works fine. $10 less than IK's interface. I was having a hard time getting a clean sound with any of the amps, they seemed to distort especially with humbuckers. Backing off the volume on the guitars seemed to help considerably. I don't know if the Link interface is producing too hot of a signal or not. More presets would be nice. The vocal side of it has a huge selection while the guitar side seems to be limited. Hopefully IK will continue to improve this software and add features that I dont have to pay for. If you are looking for a metal sound, you might be better off with Ampkit, but be ready for the feedback. AmpliTube can produce a heavy sound but it isn't as heavy as Ampkit.

Awesome! Especially for apartment living.. I absolutely love this app along with iRig. The greatest thing is that you can have an endless supply of virtual foot pedal sound FX at the tap of a screen. I absolutely love the Fender and Orange add-on packs. The distortion sounds amazing with the Orange pack. To be alb ego have all of the sound choices with cluttering your floor with expensive little pedals or buying a super expensive piece of gear is a testament to itself. Another big plus I find is the simplicity of being able to put on a pair of headphones, plug in and jam out. For someone who lives in close proximity of other, like a condo, this is a late night God send. Get it, you won’t regret it.

I'm happy with it - for the most part. I interface my bass guitar into iPad2 via Apogee Jam. This is one sweet App. Pro's: I load our song list using iTunes File Sharing feature. Then open a song in Amplitube and jam along with the music. One very strong feature is the slider that slows down the song that is playing so you can learn the fast parts. And it does that without any pitch change. No noise complaints with this setup at all. Very Quiet. Con's: Deserving of 5 stars in my view for functionality, however it is the most expensive app I've ever purchased especially after adding the 8 channel mixer. Shame on you guys. I de-rated my review to only 3 stars simply because of your pricing.

Good sound, great service. This app has very nice sound and a natural interface. I'd like to be able to chain more stomp boxes into it. The lack of digital input means it won't work with Apogee Jam or the Alesis dock, but I understand an update is underway. I hope it includes Midi awareness too, so that you can use an external stompbox. That will make it a real performance tool. Their e-mail support is fantastic. I was having some feedback issues and they talked me through the simple fix. Very prompt, responsive and knowledgable. That makes up for some of the deficiencies noted above.

Great tone using Sonoma Wire interface. I bought the iRig, the Line 6 Mobile In and the Sonoma Wire interfaces. The iRig is basically USELESS!!! Horrible tone and very noisy. The Line 6 is much better, but doesn't come close to the sound of the Sonoma Wire interface. That said, now that I am using the Sonoma Wire interface instead of the iRig, the tone is GREAT! But I wouldn't give you two cents for the tone I was getting using the iRig interface. I love the tones I am getting from Amplitube… and I own AmpKit, PRS App (forgot the name), and about 3 or 4 other apps for guitar tones. Amplitube blows them all away IF AND ONLY IF you don't use their interface. Lastly, there is a bug in Amplitube… and it happens on both the iPad version AND the iPhone version (I won both and all plugins for both). The bug is this: If you load in a song to play along with and you select the 'remove vocal' option, it will TURN ITSELF OFF when you hit 'play'. Which will force you to HIT THE BUTTON YET AGAIN to have the 'remove vocal' feature work. For those of you who don't know about this, it is an awesome feature that will remove the vocals from the tunes you load into the Amplitube… It works but only if you hit the button TWICE… since it doesn't remember the first time you hit the button. Other than that, it's a nice app.

Until they update DO NOT BUY!!!. Bought the iRig Pro so I grabbed the amplitube app and all of the bells and whistle add ons (make sure you purchase these from within amplitube not separate or you can't use them with the amplitube and you waste your $$) and messed around with it to figure all the features out. I admit it's pretty easy to use, sounds great, and can be a great tool for writing and crafting your ideas anywhere on your iPad mini except one issue: recording! When you record as long as you never close out of the app or open any other projects you'll have playback and can continue to add your layers to the song, but the minute you close out or leave the project in any way and come back to it later your waveform is there but no sound! Opened a trouble ticket with support and was told they are aware of the issue and are in the final testing phase of an update that will correct the issue and to not change any of my recording or delete them as when the update comes out it will restore everything back to how it was. Sounds great, but when's the update coming? It's been a couple of weeks since I got that email and still nothing and if you knew the app was defective why would you continue to allow people to purchase it?? If this issue with amplitube gets corrected wow this is a great app for any musician but right now it's an overpriced metronome/practice tool.

good sounds not good recording. This has great sounds you can play around with. When it comes to recording there is not much. You can do a basic 8 track okay recording. So if your just starting out playing an instrument and want to record something easily to show your family thats okay. For a producer trying to do something easy on his iPad its not. Theres no detail working or track volume or things like that. There is okay recordings and effects. I heard garageband is good for recording and I am looking into it myself for my iPad. If not just stick to your computer DAW. Also the in-app purchases are pricey for what this doesn't have to offer.

Great app. The app over all is amazing to use it saves me so much money and time. Instead of going out and buying 1,000 worth of gear i can spend 20 to 40 dollars on 10 amps and sound effects. I am wondering if ik multimedia can add some new amps and pedals in a newer update like EVH amps, Marshall amps, and some other distortion pedals like death. I hope ik multimedia will please add some new gear thank you for the great sound hope to see new things in the future. Ps i got some money to spend I’m only going to spend it on the new gear if you want some money i need new gear.

Buy iPhone version for now. Really - the iPad version is way behind. iPhone version is 2.x and iPad is 1.0.2. I liked the layout of the iPad version and although I had already purchased the iPhone version (and the recorder and a bunch of stomp boxes) I went ahead and purchased the iPad version. BTW, NONE of the accessories I bought for the iPhone version are there in the iPad version - you have to BUY THEM ALL AGAIN. I'm very unhappy with the iPad version. I'll stick with iPhone. I think at some point - since the new iOS4.2 is on iPad they'll update - but over a week has gone by and no update. You'd have thought it would be ready and they could just "pull the trigger" on it. As a developer, we've had the iOS4.2 "beta preview" or whatever it's called for a month or so.

Don't understand the complaints. This is an awesome app. It doesn't matter if your jamming by yourself through earphones or are on stage hooked through a huge Marshal. It is simply awesome. Everyone needs to understand that the only way to control price on such a full featured product is to offer add ons for a fee. If you don't want or need the extras, then don't buy them. But you shouldn't give bad reviews for a great product because of it. As for me, I bought them all and I think they're worth every penny. Great sound, great performance, great app. Two thumbs up.

An absolute blast to play!. I've had this app for a bit now, and have really gotten a chance to dive into it. The amp tones themselves are quite good (not surprising, given its pedigree), and the effects really shine. The iPad is a much better platform for this sort of thing due to the larger screen real estate and powerful processor. When it really gets fun is if you've got a program on your desktop that can do loops, such as GarageBand. I use GB with ToonTrack EZ Drummer to put together drum tracks, then add a little bit of bass and whatever else for backing tracks. Then I dump that into this, and I can jam with that, anytime. Lots of fun!

Please fix!. The "upgrade" just turned a 5 star app into a one star app. I've spent a small fortune on in app purchases for this and now it won't even open without crashing. fix it and I'll fix my review. My original review:This is an amazingly cool system- I haven't put it down all day. Without question the coolest thing on the iPad for guitarists of all sorts. The people complaining about the price should be quiet. You're getting this whole set up for less than one guitar pedal would cost you. That said, I am a little disappointed that the recorder is so expensive-that's sort of painful after paying for all the other stuff. I think part of the problem is all the hidden costs for add ons- it's better to charge one price up front. That way people know exactly what they get and don't feel taken advantage And it's a bit noisy.

Great app, but…Get with the times. I bought this because I already had Amplitube Fender and Orange, and with the bundle deal I could not resist. I have the many other amp and effect simulators (JamUp, ToneStack, Flying Haggis) and I did not have high expectations for this one. But I am very impressed and like the sounds a lot. It is fairly easy to use and the cloud integration works perfectly (you must register and sign-in with the same account). BUT I still do not have access to my VocaLive effects (those are still a separate purchase) and I do not understand why this is an iPad only app. For the price this should be a universal app as IK Multimedia’s competitors have done. That is why it is three stars. Cool app, and I have no regrets with the purchase, but once (if ever) this is made into a universal app, then 5 stars I will rate. Until then I have to recommend another guitar app for the value.

Lose the ads! Add key adjustments!. Decent enough. Great for practice. HOWEVER given the cost of this app and every in app purchase needed to unlock various pedals, badgering me to buy your other products every time I open the app is completely unacceptable. A splash screen while loading I can deal with, though I'd rather not on a paid app. But have to clear 2-3 pop up ads every time I launch before can even do anything is inexcusable on a paid app. Also, the tuner has a terrible time properly handling the low b string on my bass. In addition, not all songs are played or performed in the same key as the original track. To better facilitate practicing, we need a way to adjust the key of a recorded track up or down. Fix the ads and this would be a four star app. Add the track key adjustment for that fifth star.

Great App for practice and live use!. I'm very much an amp guy. I love playing through my AC30. There are times though when it's just not ideal to use my amp to practice at home (most times). This app is perfect for that, in conjunction with the irig. Also, every now and then I play places that would be hard to get my amp in and out of. So, I bring my pedal board and ipad/irig, run my pedals into the irig, then out of that into a basic direct box, and there you go! Every time I do that I'm surprised by how good it sounds. Again, it's not my Vox AC30, but it still sounds really good if you dial it in. Hope this review helps!

Frustrating as hell. I am using this product on an iPad 3. My main complaint is with the loop drummer, which hasn't functioned since iOS 8 was installed. I have communicated with the manufacturer and they acknowledge the issues. They have released updates that do not rectify the problems. I have spent a great deal of money on their hardware and software. This product is virtually useless in its present state. I do not recommend purchasing this product until the bugs are fixed. It's taking way too long. IRig, iLoud, BlueBoard, Slash, Hendrix, Fender, Drum tracks, looper, 8 track daw....what else? Can't even calculate the investment. It does not function. Complete joke. Do not recommend. Spend your money elsewhere. Poor to nonexistent customer service. That being said, when it functioned, it was a useful tool. F to the U.

Retro!. I love this app! Yes, it is expensive for an iPad app if you buy a lot of upgrades. But I love the retro feel of the 8-track recorder, stomp boxes, and amps. It is a nice change of pace from the complicated DAW-style interfaces, especially if you're only wanting to get something to "tape" quickly, before you lose the inspiration. I will still use my Logic Pro DAW when needed, but will turn to this often to remember the old, simple days of recording. I'm using the Apogee Quartet (with Apogee's iPad/iPhone/iPod cable) as my sound card interface and it works great.

Do Not Buy!. So, I bought this ... I also own Amplitude / Amplitude Fender ... For the iPad and iPhone ... Plus a whole bunch of in-app purchases. And ... iRig. Unlike my other defective hardware that I've purchased from them ... THIS is something I've actually been able to use ... Kind of ... It's so noisy ... It's worthless. Waste of money. I also purchased VocaLive AND the VocaLive iPad app. I even bought the crappy iRig mic. The mic is made from cheap materials that break easily. So easily ... It didn't even work out of the box. Customer Support? Forget about that too. (Read the other reviews and you'll see that I'm not the only person having problems) I lost my receipt for the iRig mic. They won't take their defective merchandise back without it. I've given them a lot of my money for worthless hardware and software that I can't even use. $20 Amplitude $20 Amplitude for iPad $20 Fender Amplitude $20 VocaLive $20 VocaLive for iPad $30 iRig $60 iRig Mic (defective) Plus a whole bunch of in-app purchases??!! Not to mention I bought the iKlip for iPhone & iPad. YOU'D THINK THAT I'D BE A VALUED CUSTOMER!!! Will I ever buy another one of their products? Nope. And you shouldn't either. Don't waste your money like I did.

Warning.... So the update is to sell you a "good" tuner. The app already has a tuner built in. This is the relationship they have with their customers. This app is okay to practice but not to record. A lot of background noise. You need to adjust your input in settings and your input gain on your iOS input guitar device to get rid of unwanted noise. Only 4 stomp boxes available at one time and the noise gate or noise filter is usually needed as one of them. Cannot put effects between the amp and cabinets. For the warning....this app nickel and dimes you really bad. I get it to pay for extra amps and pedals but to pay extra for functions is horrible practice. This app is not universal. You cannot use this app on the iPhone. So for the same app you must buy it again! The only difference is the name, same app. You want MIDI control? Time to pay up. Want a better tuner, yup, pay up. Other apps provide universal availability, cleaner recordable tones, MIDI control, more versatility then this one. Look around before settling on any app you want your sound to become and what you are willing to pay for it. My wallet is lighter and I'm not happier. To me this one is NOT worth the prices they keep asking for. Again and again and again....

Could benefit from a couple added features. 1. Noise Gate. Like some other reviewers who, like me, have a need for some shred tones, cranking up the distortion to acceptable "metal" levels results in a horrible noise floor. On the desktop side, this is alleviated to acceptable levels by the use of a noise gate. Such an addition to the iPhone/iPad version may quell some of the negative reviews regarding distortion quality. 2. Better presets interface. As it is, the presets consist of 12 blocks of numbers in a popup. I've learned only recently that *swiping* the presets popup reveals two additional banks of preset locations, for a total of 36. First, make it more obvious that there are additional banks (arrows?). Better yet, consider revamping the presets feature by letting users name the presets, so they actually mean something. Further, to make the app more suitable for live use, add a presets "room" or "screen" in which there are *only* presets buttons, and stuff required for live use, such as a master volume control, tuner...and maybe a wah pedal area (for those who are actually able to use the tilt feature while playing). Mostly, I'd like to name the presets. ;)

Best Amp App Available, yet. . .. I have purchased the full version of almost all of the other amp apps out there and this one definitely has the best tone. It also has the slow-down player, the tuner, visually is the most appealing and the easiest to work with, and has the 8 track recorder (for 15 bucks more). In a nutshell, incredible; However, I HATE that this company does not create a universal app for iPhone/iPod touch as well. They've thought of everything except how to truly take care of loyal customers. I don't mind how I've been 'nickel and dimed' into buying all the extras (with the new Fender version sounding best of all, really), but pay for them twice!? Really? Ampkit does the universal app if you were wondering. Again, I have been swindled by IK Multimedia, as I just bought the VocalLive bundle. It clearly states that you get all the effects from VocalLive as an in-app purchase, way cool! But then you dish out the money and find out that YOU CAN ONLY USE ONE OF THE EFFECTS AT A TIME! Seriously? This should be made more clear. I bought it for pitch correction, de-essing, and harmonies at the same time, but no. I understand that this would take a lot of processing power, and that is why I thought it would be so great, ; the developers would have done an amazing thing, but they really didn't. Very disappointed. This should be made clear in the purchase or even the users guide.

Meh... it’s ok. It works well... lots of “pay for play” options that are affordable. The one thing I want to use it for doesn’t work for me, so I’m extremely disappointed. The feature that doesn’t work for me is: you can’t import DRM protected music into the looper. If I want to steal the song I wouldn’t do it by using this product, so not being able to loop or slow down a song to learn it because it is DRM protected is quite disappointing and is where it gets 3 stars from. It gives you the option to select songs from your library that it can’t import, it just shouldn’t show them if it can’t import them.

Fantastic for Practice. $25 for an iRig and $20 for the AmpliTube App -- hard to believe that for $45 (ignoring the cost of the iPad of course) you can get the perfect practice tool for guitar and bass. It sounds better than the Vox Tonelab ST I briefly owned but couldn't stand -- and is way cheaper than buying a Pocket POD. Having four pedals works just great. Anybody who thinks this App is lame has completely lost perspective on how musical equipment has developed over the last 20 years -- and just how amazing it is that we have such incredibly powerful but cheap virtual toys like this. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a basic headphone practice solution. Can't speak to how it would perform for recording or live, because frankly I wouldn't even consider using it in those applications -- but I'll bet you some clever folks get some pretty cool results with it in those situations too.

Very Disappointed.... As an avid user of Amplitube 3 in my home studio, I expected they would have this all figured out. I know my Amplitube PC version doesn't sound great through headphones, and this one doesn't sound much better… Probably worse. How about adding some "room mics" to take the edge off, like on the PC version? The biggest problem is the audio routing. They've got all the audio routing through the amp and effects? This is something I can't believe they overlooked, and haven't addressed as of yet. The problem is, when you load a song into the player (say to jam along with a full song, or backing track) it has all the distortion, delay, etc applied to it. Stupid, stupid, stupid…. Looked for ways to reroute the players audio (not that I should have to…who wants their MP3's running through the distortion) but could find none. Total waste of $60 ($40 for the overpriced iRig and $20 for the full app). I suppose it's OK for just wanking away on, but how boring is that? I wanted to be able to take my iPad anywhere, and be able to jam over some backing tracks. I'd like a refund, but what are my chances…??? Piece of junk!

Ignore the haters. I'm currently away from my usual guitar rig, so I got this, and the input device, to keep me going until I get back to my main setup. The various amps, cabs and stomp boxes sound just fine, and any excess input noise can be filtered out at the expense of a very small amount of tone. The input/output latency is pretty much zero, which impressed me, as my home studio system has to work very hard to achieve anything line similar latency. As for version 2, if you check the FAQ on the dev website they state clearly that it will be coming when iOS 4.2 his the iPad in November, as it needs features only available in iOS 4.2. Those having problems with the price, well, where else can you get a good amp and stomp box set for anything like $49, which is what I paid for the full app and official cable!?

Please read this review. I am a professional producer out in Nashville and had heard many things about iRig. Let me be very clear; this is an amazing product and is worth 10 times the amount. First off, there are no latency issues with the iRig, and every session player who has used it will tell you the same. The reviewers who claim differently are being dishonest. The tone is very true and clean. I use it for tracking guitars, along with an Avalon U5 DI, so I can re-amp the recording in ProTools. The results have been fantastic. Having a simple and easy rack of quick guitar amps and effects at your fingertips makes recording quick and simple. The equipment that is available today is world class, and the iRig continues to bring world class production opportunities to the masses. If you can't make a good recording with the iRig and a decent DAW like Logic, ProTools, Cubase, or others, you should look at yourself as the problem, and not the equipment. iRig is a world class product, and it's just fun to use professionally and personally.

Cool!. I am a professional Guitarist, and really an amp purist by heart. I took a chance and bought this app for iPad not knowing how good this was going to sound. Through headphones, the tones sound okay, but where this app shines is when you plug it into a P.A. Or computer, or stereo with a great amplifier. Now the real tones are there!!! This sounds just as good as my old POD 2.0. I now teach master classes out of the iPad, I plug it straight in the P.A. or amp and go! The response is there and it even cleans up real nice. It has More od and distortion on the lead amp and metal amp than I'll ever use....and clean sounds with the fender-ish amp are there! Id really like to see a fender tweed amp on here as well as some other effects like a univibe and maybe a tap tempo digital delay. Also, on some of the more distorted sounds it is a bit noisy even with the gate on, so improvements here should be done. Also, more mic options and cab options. 1x15, 2x10, 1x8, full stack! What about speaker options? The potential on this app is enormous, and as it is now does record pretty well just like its bigger brother Mac-based software. It really does need more amps and effects to get 5 stars, but 4 for now! Great job! This is definitely a great investment for pro musicians!

It does what it says. This app is great especially for what I use it for. I too use it with the Alesis iODock and well it just works. The sound qualty is good for what it is and well it sure beats carrying all my gear around especially when just wanting to just practice with some friends locally. Though I've made a mistake of purchasing this one after having downloaded the Amplitude Free and purchasing the equipment using the in app purchase option. I guess each version is considered a seperate license? I thought it would have upgraded the free version to the full. Or perhaps have allowed me to imoprt the addons purchased from the free version in to this one, providing they are both registered under the same account. My mistake, not saying anything negative but be forwarned that your pruchased equipment will not be restored from the free version to this version at least from what can see. Again not being negative here just I just didn't know. But otherwise it works very well and does what it says, So far so good..... Cheers!

Works Great, Sounds Great, Delivers. I have no idea what's up with these negative reviews. I re-downloaded this app on my iPad 4, and everything works fine. All of my in-app purchases showed up, the sound quality is excellent, and the new layout is pretty sweet. Okay, so they've made the in-app purchases more visible. Cool. I didn't know there was an OCD model, and I probably wouldn't have looked for one, but I sure am enjoying it. If you don't want to buy the extras, then don't—the app is well stocked from the beginning. Look, by and large, I'm mild-weathered about IK Multimedia gear and software. They're okay, but usually nothing to write home about. The exception to this is their amp/effects emulation. I've been using everything from kidney-bean-shaped Pods to Eleven and beyond ever since this market opened up, and IK's Amplitube has always kept up with the competition. There are a ton of amp/effects modeling apps out there today, and most of them are okay. What I love about IK and Amplitube is that you can count on them to be accurate. I wanted an amp that sounds like my Hotrod Deluxe Deville, so I bought one. Other than the fact that I can get amp distortion out of the app without hitting tinnitus-inducing SPLs, the emulation is perfect. It's your call, but I'd say this is among the most solid guitar apps you'll find.

Been a while..WOW!. As a long time advocate for Positive Grid (JamUp/Bias) I have pretty much neglected all other guitar amp sim apps. However, the other day I took the plunge and bought Amplitube for iPad....along with a few add-ons...the full recording package, the Slash package, Soldano, a bass amp, an EQ pedal and the T-Rex Môller overdrive. After a little while of dialing everything in and getting the tones I wanted...I can say that I am quite impressed with this unit. Solid DAW type recording functionality with great intuitive controls, master FX to die for, and everything falls into place nicely with my workflow. It will cost you a few bucks to get everything set up and running nicely, but a far cry from the costs of desktop software and I expect I will be able to record some convincing tracks with this. There are some things I'd like to see added but we'll get to that later. 4 stars and hopefully 5 in the future if the changes I'd like to see are implemented. Nice job!

On the cusp of greatness.... I like the amp models better than Garageband and Line6 - I think they sound much better. However, this rig has way too much noise. I know it comes with a noise filter effect for free, but it cuts into the signal and tone too much. Please work on making this app more quiet. For jamming, this app gets 5 stars. But when you by the multi-track recorder, things go downhill. The recorder leaves a lot to be desired. I think everyone digs the analog retro visuals, but analog, linear tape-like recording is the pits. I believe every would rather have a multi-track/view workspace like every other recording app (Garageband, sonar, cubase, etc..) It is a stable app, but the few crashes I've had were when I was recording. I know the resource challenges you have with the hardware limitations of the iPad, so hats of to you for even attempting multi-track recording at all. It would be neat if we could save the tracks to Drop Box or Mobile Me iDisk. Everyone complains about their $20, but they don't understand what goes into making an app like this. $20 is a steal, I think it's underpriced. It's a substantial undertaking, and requires advanced programming talent - it's a bit more complicated than Angry Birds. Also, please ask the guys to offer the bass amp in the IPhone app!!!

Quality. Excellent app with heaps of features which has really evolved over time to embrace users requirements. Staple part of recording guitar tracks for GarageBand and fully compatible with audiobus. Must have app for songwriting recording and practice.

Classic. This app is a couple of thousand bucks worth of amps and pedals all condensed into a $24.00 app. and an iRig plug in. I've played a Strat, SG and a 1958 Les Paul Custom reissue through this and it's brilliant. Wonderful to wail away at home at midnight when the family is tucked up in bed. The breadth of effects available is stunning and it's all compact enough to put on an iPad or iPhone. The wonders of modern technology. 5 stars

Can't believe how good it sounds!!. No noticeable latency, sound quality is better than I expected, GUI is a delight to use - I love this app!!

It's handy. I use my irig to practice when I'm too lazy to setup my gear or when my baby is sleeping. It's great for learning songs, parts and just noodling around. In terms of sound quality though, it's not very flash. It is too noisy to use it for anything other than practice, and while some of the amps sound ok (B-15R for bass) the effects have little tone/soul/vibe , whatever you want to all it. The noise reduction effect is just a filter so it effects my normal sound and I find it annoying. The app works OK I guess, except the option to play when the app is in the background isn't working at the moment . Also I find it occasionally crashes, but I have an iPad 1 and it is processing audio. Good luck

Great App. I have been using this app for a day now and I'm very impressed. As a practice tool there is no better, quality of sound and the combo's you can create with effects and amps is cool. Only negative I can't work out the wah?

Largest rip off. this is the biggest rip off I have seen! It's not even worth the one star I have given it! Once you've payed the goddamn $20 and you think it is over you can find that there are almost the same amount of FX on garage band. All you have to do is use the $70 Irig and then use the amp feature on garage band. As well as the $20 dollars for the app you might want to record a guitar song with it but no you can only record one track without buying the expensive $15 extension. SO PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS SCAM!!!!!

Caution. The app stalled and I had to reinstall, but was charged $20.99 again. Also charged again for in app purchases. No response from Amplitube regarding being overcharged.

Great app (but with some shortcomings). I'm was beginner guitar player and with little knowledge about what amp to buy, picked this up instead. Quality (just with headphones and my PC speakers) has been very good and I've enjoyed playing with the numerous effects pedals. It has been a wonderful toy and worth every cent. It does have a couple of short comings. There is no AudioCopy/AudioPaste support. I would love to be able to include Amplitude recordings in my iPad workflow, importing tracks from other apps to play along with and then exporting recordings to mix into other projects. At the moment, getting music and recordings out involves a clunky wifi, email or iTunes file sharing. I would race back and give this a 5/5 if it would implement AudioCopy/AudioPaste, allowing everything to be done on the iPad without returning to the computer. If you want Amplitude to work with a range of other existing iPad audio apps, look elsewhere. If you're just wanting to jam, go for it.

Miss. This app is impossible! Thought it would help me a lot but it's too limited! It's not worth it for $20!

Crashes every time with the new version.. Can't even get past the title screen.

All unarmed tracks sound like they’re clipping. Recently, every unarmed track has a horrible clipping noise, even though everything, including the output bar, is in the green. Never used to happen.

Great sounds and Interface. I love this app. The iPad interface is sooooo much better than the iPhone one purely due to the increased screen real estate. Sounds are pretty impressive for something this portable though there is a bit of noise even with low gain setups (I'm connecting though the iRig interface). The noise stomp alters the sound too much for my liking though it definitely kills the noise. Would love to be able to name my presets so I could keep track of them better but maybe this will come in future versions. Otherwise great work. I spend more hours plugged into this than my real amp. Looking forward to new gear and updates.

They’re lousy. You buy this app and think you can use it on all your devices but no, if you want it on your iPhone you have to buy it again because they say it’s a different app for iPhone. What BS.

A little disappointed. Great idea for the iPad and I suppose the quality of the sound produced is reasonable. Not very clean clear audio and the effects are a bit muted and not distinct enough. It's good for a bit of fun but too expensive for what it is. I suggest save your money and buy a real amp or small practice amp. Annoying also that you have to use headphone or speakers as sound doesn't come out of iPad speakers. Lastly charging for effect pedals that basically sound the same as each other is not cool :/ all add ins should be free as the price of the app is high enough.

Crashes. Crashes every time now

Best headphone amp I've found. Reviews are subjective. And this is another one... Late night sessions have become even more enjoyable. Now I can sample a plethora of amps and FX whilst keeping the better half happy. The interface is simple and enjoyable. The sounds are acceptable and the features are good. I have no doubt applications like this will only get better. Aren't we lucky! Thank god for the IC.

amplitube. this app crashes constantly. after it crashes the only way to get the frozen app off my ipad is to do a full restore. A$24 app that never works is a bit sad i want my money back.

Crashes after title screen. Very excited for the Jimi Hendrix bundle but I can't use the app at the moment.

Everything was going great....... Not sure whats happening here.... Everything was fine all working... Didnt use it for a while, now i come back... Plug in... And no effects are being applied... Just raw guitar??? I must be doing something wrong... But cannot figure it out... Hoping it is not an app problem... But in any case, if you want this app, dont hesitate... Just get it... The sound you get for 20 bucks or so is amazing.. Great hooked up to a headset which is also connected by usb to computer (px21) so much fun.. Great app!! Also had some amazing add ons. 4star for now.

Wah Pedal working in Reverse. The app was working fine but when I activate the wah on my irig stomp it works backwards..highs are down..bass is up...this is very very annoying...is there a work around for it.

Bleeding in recorder. Don't buy the recorder part of this app. It bleeds recorded sounds into other tracks you've recorded into other channels. Also if your using the metronome that will also bleed into your recorded track. Grrrrr... Useless.... I talked to amplitube app support and they recommended me to buy another piece of equipment to fix this (when I already use the irig, this should do the job right?) they said it had something to do with the iPad but I have tried recording into other apps that have multitracking with no bleeding problem (using the irig). The sounds on this are good but let down being able to capture recorded usable ideas is frustrating. If your using it just for sounds it ok but as a recording workstation forget it.

WOW!!!!. I was absolutely blown away by the effects on this thing, they sound excellent, pay like $20 for awesome effects and a great interface, instead of paying hundreds of dollars on effects pedal and sound modules... Great work im impressed. Would also love to see more of the amplitube pedals like step slicers, pitch shifters, and tap delays :P

way overpriced for what you get!!!. $25 for a basic setup...... not to mention the overpriced peripherals (apple store charged $169...got more value for money with ampkit. Even after paying for the app you have to spend money on almost everything within the app..... a bit of a ripoff... i want a refund!

Horrible tone. I've enjoyed IK products for years however this app is a complete waste of money. The tones aren't even close to being enjoyable. Don't waste your money or time. I'll have the iRig on sale shortly.

Awesome app. The extra screen realestate on the iPad really helps make this a more user friendly experience than the iPhone version. It's fun just to turn all the dials etc the big screen. Would be excellent is you could record and "reamp" songs like in ampkit, fingers crossed they implement that. It's a little noisy connected through iRig, perhaps the powered Amplink device might get better result and could be worth a try. Overall though the sounds this app creates are fantastic. I hope a future version when iPad hits IOS4 allows running in the background, which would allow you to use apps like TabToolkit. A highly recommended purchase from me, although I feel a bit sore that I purchased the iPhone version and then the iPad version was released a few days later and wasn't a universal app.

Guitarist must buy. Very handy and well put together app for guitarist wanting to get ideas down on the move. Huge range of effects multi track recording and artist signature equipment. And can entertain friends with just a guitar and I pad instead of carting your amp and pedals around. Haven't had any crashes either, great idea look forward to more content

CRASH.... not any more. New version (along with new iOS) has fixed stability. No more crashing or closing all other apps. Great to be able to add Vocalive effects to amplitube and have an iPad version (sort of). Yet to test and compare amplitube effects with genuine vocalive effects to see if they offer any specific vocal adjustment or if they are just re-skinned guitar effects.

amplitube. This is my favourite iPad guitar software. I've tried all the others and Amplitube comes through with the goods 🍰

Perfect or rehearsal of songs. I use this app and an irig pro to go over my set list and to learn new tunes. Plug in and go, don’t have to set up my real rig and I don’t annoy my Wife and neighbours with my bass tone and volume. Also used it with garage band to record guitar, bass and vocals for our demo and have even used it onstage plugged straight into the desk. Also has a loop and speed adjustment to get those fiddly bits under my fingers. Looking forward to future updates guys, keep up the good work 👍

Excellent but. Inapp purchases are lost during uninstall and reinstall. Inapp purchases to the free version are lost when you upgrade to the full version. On 2 iPads I lost 3 expensive bundle inapp purchases so far. Fix this, or refund inapp losses, 40 dollars lost so far.

Way too many IAPs. This could be a good product, but feels like having a sleazy car salesman trying to get in your pockets the whole time you're using it. Even major buttons on the interface aren't functional without buying additional packages, on what is already an expensive app. Shame, could be great.

Please fix!. This is a great app for guitar players and I especially use this to record music on GarageBand. Somehow, after this update GarageBand wouldn't allow me to record the guitar onto the app - every time I attempt to open the app via GarageBand, Amplitube closes immediately. Please fix this!

Crashes with latest update. Same complaint as other reviewer, crashes every time.

Quite good. So far amplitube seems really solid, it does exactly what it says. The effects sound good and are comparable to the computer versions. The only reason i havent given it 5 stars is because of occasional lag, but i can handle this as it is really only to practise with instead of powering up the rig.

More than happy. This is an awesome app. You do need to also buy the iRig connector and a special 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch mono (not stereo, or there'll be feedback) connector to get the sound into your amp, but with these in place you can create an amazing sounds, all at a cost well below standard effects pedals.

Save your money!. It's terrible these guys don't support the dock connector. The apogee jam is miles above the irig in sound quality so it's a shame I can't partner with this software. I HIGHLY reccoment ampkit since these guys won't get with the times.

Meh. It's a good idea but needs refining. The 8 track is a pain to use (just like they used to be). The authentic look is cool but some features like a metronome count in would be nice. Also to see the tracks visually really helps (something like GarageBand). The effects are great. I love the presets. I love that there are bass amps available. Something GB doesn't have. Far too expensive in the first place, and then all the in-app purchases for the 8 track and fx etc. A massive ripoff!! If some changes are made so I can actually use the app then it might be worth the money. til then, one star... :-(

Don't know what else to say.... Well after downloading this most recent update with the Hendrix Presets (included with in-app purchase) the app fails once again. Some Hendrix tones don't match the songs they are representing and stomp boxes seem to appear then disappear when selecting different Hendrix Presets. IK Multimedia's solution is to buy the stand alone Hendrix version and see if it happens with that. That's right. The advice given was to make another purchase of the same product just to see if the problem persists with one of their other apps. Furthermore when questioned as to why the "Purple Haze" preset for the rhythm section didn't have distortion included as Hendrix himself had used the reply was to use the solo preset for Purple Haze instead. What? Use the solo preset for the rhythm when the presets are supposed to reflect the actual tones of the song? That's not what was advertised.

Money pit. This app a rip off, you have to keep buying add ons to make it useful. Stick with garage band...it offers more for less. I want a refund

Great!!!. This is a great app, works the treat, especially with IRig HD! Only negative I have is that I cannot use my Bluetooth headphones through Amplitube, otherwise it would be 5 stars.

Sorry IK Media. Your marketing is better than your product. I have to add my voice to those that have been disappointed by this app. Having surrendered about 60 dollars for the adapter, I hurried home to try my latest practice toy, hopeful that it might have the same simulation capability I experienced with other products years ago (such as the line6 pod). What was I able to get? About two hours (and a few additional "in app" purchases later) I'd not progressed that far beyond the crappy, tinny, shallow, sound I had when I first opened it up. The Real clincher was when I went out an bought a pair of bluetooth headphones, only to find that Amplitube doesn't have the functionality to handle them. Crouch over the iPad people. I believe it's cable only. I also find the "nibble" marketing tactic of having my pockets progressively emptied very annoying, and I wish I'd heeded the reviews of other users before I leapt in. Sorry IK Media, but you've absolutely lost me.

Expensive - Awful Tone - Pop up Adds = IK Multimedia. First of all this is not a universal app. You have to buy it twice if you want it on your iPhone and iPad. You might think after spending $20 that the high price will entitle you to all this app has to offer but think again. It has sooooo many in-app purchases. You can easily spend another $80 + to unlock the recorder, more app models etc. Now this wouldn't be a huge deal if it were not for the fact that every amp model sounds absolutely awful! The tone is terrible overall but the Jimi Hendrix IAP is downright shameful. Not a single sounds like what Hendrix might have used, even in the hands of the best player. Avoid. Jamup Pro XT is universal and the amps sound so so so much better.

No Effects?. All was working well now none of the effects work? Please explain... I paid good money

Fantastic !. What a great App ! Will be great to see plans for expansion modules. Would also be fantastic for a similar synth input. Good work !

I like this. As a scratch pad for ideas creation this is quick and easy to use. And when I had a question, the support people were back with an answer within 24 hours.

Why no 4 track recorder on this version like on the iphone app?. Why no 4 track recorder on this version like on the iphone app?

Please fix. I love the app but I recently bought the surfer and big pig stompboxes and then I updated the app and I lost them both when they both cost me $4.50 each. Otherwise great app and please add more free stomp boxes

Not worth it. Gives an alright sounding sound from my bass and my guitar, but it's pathetic that I paid $21 for this App and if I want to record or do anything I have to pay extra on top of that $21. Why did I even bother getting the full version if everything is still locked?! This is a pathetic rip off, don't waste your time, money or bandwidth on this software, I want a refund, it's not even easy to use.

Great app. I have used Amplitube for quite few years now on my ITouch & IPad & found it to be great for practicing & learning songs. The in app purchases can be expensive, but there are plenty of opportunities to buy them at discounted prices. Overall, very, very impressed

Crashing Hard. App had been terrible on the last two updates. The most recent update causes app to crash when accessing projects and editing also causes it to crash. Nearly unusable in its current state. Support also crashing so unless you want to buy an App with 30% functionality and no support I would pass until they get it fixed. Truly unfortunate...

Expensive for nothing !. Dont buy this app it sound like a crap!!!!

Needs core audio support. First of all a word about gear: if you expect sound from the 1/8 headphone jack adapter to be as good as one going through the 30 pin digital, you are setting yourself up for disappointment and frustration. Trust me, you can hear and feel the price difference. I’m a bass player and have an iRig and an iRiffport. Actually, no, I just gave away my irig to a friend. And until Ik Multimedia comes up with its own core audio solution and enables digital input, we’ll have to settle from mediocre sound, gain and lag issues. It’s a shame really because the app is complete and well made. You get tons of tones, useful tools like a tuner and metronome, a good multitrack recording interface, and my favorite: background audio/ ios multitasking. This basically enables you to dial in your tone, hit the home button and run a sheet music app like forScore or iRealb while still hearing yourself. Interesingly enough, the free version of Ampkit enables all that, except the recording is way more basic. ! (And yes, Ampkit works with the iRiffport.)

Buyer Beware!. This is a fantastic app. It's very polished; it looks incredible, and it works exactly as it should. The effects are great, and the 8-track Mixer is a nice touch. I'd like to give it 5 stars, and indeed I would have…if not for their very questionable practices regarding in-app purchases. If you buy the free version, begin loading it up with in-app purchases such as effects pedals and/or the 8-track mixer, and then decide to upgrade it to the full, paid version…GOTCHA! You discover that IK Multimedia will not transfer your in-app purchases to the upgraded version. You are expected to buy all of those in-apps AGAIN! They do not connect your purchases with you, the user; instead they are tied to the app. Similarly, if you bought the app on your iPad to learn how to use it, and then want to use the smaller form-factor iPhone or iPod Touch to play the gig…GOTCHA again! They will not transfer your in-app purchases to your other devices either. I was so terribly disappointed to discover this unethical practice from a company that I was initially so excited about. Don't let their "Musicians first" slogan fool you; it's clearly money first. At the very least they should have written something about this in their descriptions, so we know what we're getting into. I hope this helps someone to avoid being unpleasantly surprised like I was. I really love the app…I just don't love this company anymore.

Doesn't support old i rig. I have the old irig , it doesn't seem to be recognized by the app. Shitty, I just found it again after a long while. The world has moved on I guess

Product crashes, studio and drum bundles a total waste of money. I bought the irig had, wanting to do some quality recording on my iPad, after countless hours spent, I can't open my protests. This is an issue, and their lousy tech support said so. An issue, really, your product does not work, like at all, now it just crashes as soon as I open it, total waste of time and money, I should have done more research, then I would have seen thousands have the same problem. Ya, their great at marketing, but fail in their quality, eventually it's going to catch up to them. Keep walking, don't waste your money, even when it's 50 percent off, your getting 50 percent of nothing. Total s@@t

Amazing!. Wow! Amazing app, realistic sounding!! I would rate it 5 stars if it had the ability to run in background while surfing the net on Safari or if it would be possible to run other apps such as the Tab Toolkit while playing.

great app for the price!. Cool little app once you've loaded a few add on's. Fender Twin sounds just like my old 69 Twin did... The recording studio is nice and simple to use. The drum loops can get a bit frustrating at first, but the Sudio makes them easier to create.

Crashing problems. My son and myself use amplitube to email each other tracks..he plays drums and bass and me guitar..after you lay your track down you have to email it right away or the track deletes itself when program closes..also it's been crashing..

Harsh sounds, bad support, pay twice. Rip off alert. CONS: -You must pay for each IOS version for ipad or iPhone even though its only a graphic change. (A Total rip off) -The sounds are very harsh and below acceptable when compared to much better apps like Overloud THM or Jamup XT PRO. -The IK Multimedia forum is a total fraud as they regularly delete any comments from any users having a negative opinion of there products. -They HD irig hardware for this app has been delayed so many times that I gave up entirely on IK products. -IK "support" guy is very unprofessional. Totally disappointed in IK Multimedia. Run away fast. PROS: Great graphics

Megacrosse.

Need update. The app is fun to practice but you cant use it for anything serious. Theres no audiobus, no multitrack recording, bad sound quality. Also expensive with the IAP.

Latest Version Crashes. This was a great app until the latest version. V3.0 will not start on my ipad2. Hangs at the start screen. Please fix!

Blueboard ne se connecte pas?. Cette version a brisé la connexion avec le blueboard? Not cool!!!

Great concept, problems. I waited and waited for the iPad version and must say I'm a little disappointed. It's good, but not great. And it should be. You'd think after spending over $100 on the app ($40 for the iRig, $20 for the app, $15 for the recorder, and $30 for extra pedals) it would be perfect. Its noisy, I can't get enough volume, especially to record, but most offending of all is the inability to also install what I've just purchased on my iPhone 4. They want you to buy it all over again. Not cool. Fix that and I'll up my rating to five stars.

App is near perfect. But,. This app is near perfect. It does everything I need it to. But I need it on my iPod for when I'm on the go, so I have a pocket amplifier. I paid for this app, which was 20$, why do I have to pay another 20$ for the iPod app as well? Please fix this.

Very Expensive. If you want all the extras plus the irig guitar cable it's going to cost about $150.00 + bucks. Oh but only for 1 device. Buck up twice as much if you also want it on your phone. Not a universal app The purchase price should include all the extras but doesn't You already have to fork out $50 to $75 bucks for irig just to use it, then they want $15 for record $15 for fender $ 5 each for vocal $25 total $ 3 each for extra effects pedals $15 total Who knows what other extras they'll come up with next $$$$

Very good. This app has changed the way I write music. It's not for professional recording, so don't expect it to be crystal clear. What is good for is grabbing song off the floor, recording ideas, sending the out to the cloud or email. The editor is very useful for cutting out fluff before and after good takes (so you don't end up with a massive file). If you are editing, make a copy first! The drum looper has not been really helpful, due to the clunky interface, so I don't use it (paid for it though, hoping it would be better). If you want super pro recording, I'm not so sure that mobile devices are your best option. All in all, this app is invaluable to my band.

Audiobus Problems for ios8. This no longer works on iOS 8 for iPad. Very frustrating

Not as good. Doesn't run as smoothly as before I sure hate having to sign into the same app all the time and having some stupid number password that they send you and not one you pick yourself

Endless hours of fun!. Fantastic and easy to use. Well worth it!

Amplitube awesome. This is app is well worth the money totally awesome. I highly recommend it. Dan

Rubbish. This app is rubbish - I bought it only to find all effects and amps are extra - $6 to $10 a shot.

Dissapointed. Started with the free version, bought Fender pack and 8 track then decided to go for this paid version since I wanted to support the developer and expected to have access to these "in app purchases". Didn't happen. I thought that upgrading meant adding to my previous investment. Another neg for apple. Never have this experience with PC "apps" This developer needs to address this and not make users buy multiple copies of the same app. They could have put warnings in the free version. What do I gain by spending another $20?

Music maker. I don't normally do reviews but I felt compelled to do this one because the program is so good. Great app. With the addition of recording your own playing, the update includes 1 track but I purchased the 8 track add on, you can play the rhythm guitar and then export what you played and then solo over it (you have to export your music as a song to do this). You can also play over music that you've downloaded from iTunes. Best app for the iPad so far. Plus the effects are great. Now I can play in virtual silence and have much better sound than I ever would have achieved without this app. If I hadn't seen the app on one of the iPad commercials on TV I probably never would have known the app was out there. I wish I had this technology 10 years ago.

Octo blue slash pedal. Octo blue doesn't work...at all!

It is the pits. I would not recommend this program

Crashes. Upgraded the app and now it won't even open, goes to home screen and crashes

Update kills functionality (ipad one). I updated this app last weekend. Now I am getting no guitar sound out through the headphones. Clearly there is input coming into the ipad through the Irig. The v/u meter responds as you would expect. Nothing from the output v/u whatsoever and nothing over the headphones. Songs I loaded into the app still play and the metronome sound is there. No guitar sound though!

Great great great. Awesome and fun to use

Excellent. Tres bon excellent surtout avec irig hd

Trouble understanding this app,. This is not for the beginner it seems as I am going crazy trying to figure it out...

No record??!!!. No record function. Got the iRig hardware and hooked up amplitude on iPhone and all the functions were there. Now I get the iPad version and the app doesn't have the totally awesome built in recording function. Totally whack. Hope this is fixed in an update soon. Beware guitar lovers. Another case where what is available on iPad is less than iPhone. Should never have bought. Would be five stars but with missing essential functionality (like record) the makers of this app can eat it. Get it updated IK Multimedia. Now.

PLEASE FIX ASAP :). I absolutely love this app and use it everyday but since I updated my iPad to iOS8 there's an audiobus bug and it's really annoying so please check this up and I'll give you two stars back! ;)

Let the "I-Rip" be your clue.... As in "Rip Off" The app itself might be worth your hard earned cash, I find that $30.00 for shipping cost for the I-Rip that you need is awful. In order to use this product you have to order the I-rip plug in. That's going to cost $39.99. "PLUS" they charge an additional $30.00 for shipping and handling. Then add on your taxes plus the price for the app, you're looking at $90.00+ just to get started. SO BE WARE ! ! ! I FEEL TOTALY RIPPED OFF ! ! !

Version 2.2. Absolutely love this App... Until I downloaded the update to 2.2 and now I can't even open it. It crashes every time. Fix or allow me to download old version please. Soon!

Great and fun. This app is so fun! I believe this is one or if not the best guitar recording app on the iPad. Lucky for me I got it 50 percent of!! Keep up the good work amplitube!

Ampitube is a great app. I love using it.. I updated today and know the keeps closing right after it is openned. Please help. It would be great if Guitar pro and ampitube could run together... Thanks

Review. Hey, this is a superb application. I used it in clubs and bars with my band and it consistently produces the sounds I want without muss or fuss. I soon retired my collection of metal stomp boxes and relied solely on Amplitude and my IPad and Blueboard. This functionality, along with the associated multi-track recording and editing makes for a complete and professional product.

Consumer Warning!!. This app has so many flaws I don't know where to begin. First off... Don't expect your recording experience to get any better by purchasing all the add ons. This app was designed to drain your wallet and give you very low quality recording. Single track manipulation isn't possible and creates MANY issues. I wish could get all the money I sunk into this app back. The iRig is terrible also. Very cheap feeling. To anyone wanting to do any serious and quality recording for a good price, here's how you do it. Buy DM1 drum machine app and make yourself some sick beats. Get the Multitrack DAW app and paste the drum track to the first track in the app. Throw away you iRig and purchase the iXZ tascam (very affordable and much more versatile than the iRig). Get yourself a decent mic and plug that sucker in, mic up your amp and have fun! You'll now have full control over your music. You can manipulate each individual track (eq, copy and paste, trim, slice, volume swell). Until the creators of this app go back and totally revamp the ENTIRE app, it's not worth your money. My means of recording will cost you under $150 (mic costs the most) but you get studio quality!! I promise you'll have less frustrations and an overall better recording experience. To the creators: does the quality of you app mean nothing to you? I've read all the comments that have been posted and you know you have much to improve on. Remove this app or correct you faults. Or atleast make clear that the 8 track expansion is useless unless its all clean channels. It's people like you who make the app store a joke. I hope you enjoyed the money you suckered out of all the innocent musicians.

Beautiful. What a perfectly beautiful interface. Like seriously A++ on that. Not sure about the $119 price for the 2014 all in one bundle. Seems very high to me. In fact IAP are so expensive I have held off investing any more into this.

Just no. Making your customers pay full price for both iPad and iPhone versions, especially for add ons is a joke. Bias and jam up are better to begin with before this kick in the teeth. I won’t be a continuing customer.

Incredible App. To those who are giving it poor reviews, must not be using it correctly. This app is absolutely indispensable and a key piece of gear in my home studio. I can get professional sounding guitars and bass quickly and easily. The sounds are clear as a bell and the number of tools to sculpt that sound is mind blowing. Yes, it's expensive to purchase all the amps and pedals a microphones, but way cheaper than the real deal, plus I can achieve way better results way quicker (and quieter) than if I were recording live amplifiers. Sure, a purist might hate this digital platform, but for what I need it is more than good enough. Ive even used it for live performances and no one in the audience was the wiser! For best results, I use this simply as an outboard unit and then patch out into my recording interface into Ableton Live. No need to use the recording feature on the app. Simply use IK iRig from my guitar and set up whatever rig I want for my recording. Saving presets is a lifesaver. If you send this to a tube pre-amp like the ART Pro Channel II, before your interface, you can add some more organic warmth, EQ and Compression to the guitar rig. Long story short, if you don't think this app is incredible, you're using it wrong!

Good app but..... between having to pay for both an iPhone app and an iPad app (universal apps are pretty standard now) and all the in app purchases required for features I expected to be standard options included in the app, IK Multimedia has left me feeling like a thoroughly milked jersey. Had I realized how much it would really cost me before I became invested, I probably would have passed on this app. Also, there is a small latency issue on iPad mini that does not exist on iPhone. Had I known that, I definitely would not have shelled out the $20 for the iPad app.

Amplitube for IPad (full version). I've had the opportunity to use this software for a few days now and here is my first impression: this is a good application overall for the guitar enthusiast. The interface is quite well designed. The screen is sharp. The amp and pedal controls are quite responsive to the touch and easy to use. The IPad's large screen allows for using up to 4 pedals at once (with a selection of 11 pedals at the time of writing this review). I have so far been using the app with a guitar amp on the clean channel setting via the Irig connector and I was pleasantly surprised by the tonal quality Amplitube provides, given it's very reasonable price. On the downside, the noise coming through the speaker is fairly noticeable and I've had to depend on the noise filter pedal to bring it down to more acceptable levels. The noise is even more noticeable on the Metal Amp and I could not do without the noise filter. one inconvenient of the noise filter pedal is that it alters the sound quality in such a way that high notes are not as clear. Anyway, in all fairness, I am still new with this app and on top of that, I'm rather a novice guitarist. I nevertheless have good ears and this is why I focus so much on the tone and sound quality of this app. Overall, this app can provide you with lots of fun and variety. I am definitely glad I purchased it and look forward to future updates!

Great recording tool for on the go artists. I don’t know what all the complaints are about AmpliTube on iPad. I had no problems using this app, lots of free stomp boxes and great selection of free amps as well . I have a fender tube amp that I barely touched since acquiring this app. I use it with a iRig 2 interface and am currently purchasing the iRig acoustic amd the iRig Pre so I can record with my condensed mic. I also purchased the 8 track recorder but I wish I had more information on how to use it . I use the AmpliTube CS on my iPhone and the AmpliTube on my iPad mini . Does anybody know what the difference is ?

Itunes. I think this is a great piece of technology but the one thing they got wrong is how to handle music. If you want to play along to songs in your library you need to import the song into Amplitube (which has all sorts of accessibility issues) They should have made it easy to sync with your iTunes library.

Will not load. Stuck at the opening screen. It will not load. Really disappointed.

Great app. Just wanted to say how much I enjoy the app. Very professional, and works like a charm. Don't have to store a lot of gear around anymore. Wow!

Missing important options. Poor customer support.. I purchased this app thinking that it would record what I am playing, as that option appeared to be available on the IK Multimedia website, however it is only available with the iPhone version. How difficult would it be to have it on the iPad? I inquired about this and other concerns (not being able to download my free effect, not having access to other gear, and the ability to use the app without an iRig). The only question they would answer was about the recording, saying that it will be an upgrade in the near future for the iPad app, and they avoided answering my other concerns. I even sent a follow up email asking them to answer those questions and didn't hear back. The app has great potential but significant flaws and definitely not worth $20.

Broken. I've had this application ever since IK launched it for PC. Having the iOS version has been great... Up until this last year. It's bad enough that they keep nickel and dimming us for features, but then I lost all my recordings with the last update... And now every time I record, even though I've confirmed my levels and I get audio pass through, the app doesn't record ANYTHING. My tracks are always zero second after recording, and if I futz with it enough the app just crashes out. After rebooting the device amplitube still does the same thing. I've paid IK Multimedia a ton of money through this app over the years and now it does absolutely nothing. Thank you.

Bad marketing. The app is pretty good, but the marketing dept (or some idiot) has ruined it. Every time I launch the app I play for about 3 seconds and I get hit with a pop-up add. I have to touch it to dismiss it. Then, sometimes, after another 3 seconds I get hit with a second one, and I have to stop again. This is inexcusable for an App that I paid for. I even visited the links to see if that would make the pop-ups go away. Nope. I e-mailed the company and politely suggested a badge icon in the app for news, so that I could choose to view them - no response. This sounds minor, but it is very frustrating and is simply bad form for a paid for app. Luckily Agile Partners released AmpKit - I love TabToolkit and when I emailed Agile they replied within minutes. I am making the switch. If you work for IK Multimedia and agree with me - and I'm sure that there are many who do - please forward on this feedback to whomever is making this decision.

A fool & his money are soon parted. This application is superficial at best, but in fact is a waste of money to all but the tin eared novice. It is either a poor mans last grasp at having all kinds of awesomeness for dirt cheap, or a music techie's blind faith in programming that this investment will make his iPad the next frontier to add cool money saving gadgets to his "band on a pad' dream machine. This iRig contraption sounds like crap. The hard dream-shattering fact is that this program is NOT ready for production. In addition, the flimsy iRig dongle that must also be purchased in order to even experience this dismal outcome is also just another cheap solution that soaks you for another $30... Don't waste your dime on this.

Misleading. I love Amplitube for sound and ease; but here’s the thing - I bought the bundle with Slash. I also have it for my Mac. There is gear not included in the iPad version that you get in the Mac version that you need to buy separate. It goes for all of the packages. It blows my mind. All in should be all in. But the sims sound great so there’s that, I guess. Just know that going in.

iStomp awesome!. Yes I give this five stars. I am a musician that has a home studio. I am not into spending lots of money on equipment if I don't need too. I thought I'd give iStomp a try and did not have too high of expectation. I expected to Have latency issues. Much to my surprise, none whatsoever. No matter how much I added to my mix, the iPad with iStomp and amplitude pulled it off nicely. I would recommend this to all my musician friends. I also use this with my acoustic. It is very clean and professional. Justice

Drums in Looper. The looper is great, but would be more useful if it could be used simultaneously with the drum loops. Pasting an audio track to an empty loop track would be great too, as well as the ability to clear a recorded loop track individually. Lastly, the ability to save and load previous loops would be nice. The amps and effects sound really nice! Keep up the great work!

My New Guitar Recording App. This app sounds better than any of my amp simulators on my computer. But the key difference is how fun and easy the interaction is. My guitar has presence through this app. I can easily dial up the sound I want. The strength of Amplitube iPad is it's simplicity. Less is more!

Perfect for low noise situations. I'm a beginning guitarist and have been using AmpliTube to practice early in the morning or whenever plugging into my amp isn't practical (like when the baby is napping). I really enjoy it and am looking forward to exploring it further as I learn more. One suggestion though - please put a spot where you display the current time. A few of my other apps have this (one is a metronome) and it's really helpful so we don't have to stop and look at the time (don't wear a watch). I often get so wrapped up in what I'm doing I miss my stop times.

Vocal plug in does not work. This rating would be higher if the vocal plug in worked. It tells me it is turning fx off for some reason and it can be manually turned back on. I can't find any method for turning it back on. The stomp box itself is on. I just wasted $10 on this plugin and there is no apparent way to use it. I searched their forums for help to no avail. Wish there was an answer. I like the Fender plug in.

Save your money. Invest in tubes, not glitchy software.. I recently purchased this expensive app and the iRig dongle with high hopes. I have a number of guitars and amps. I find that I get sucked into this "new best thing" syndrome and have to try the new technology. But I always end up with my blues jr. and my g&l strat. This amplitube worked great once, then the guitar sound disappeared, and I was into the endless loop of searching forums on how to fix it. I submitted messages to tech support. I waited for replies. I searched online. I got very frustrated and I threw the whole mess in the can. Then I plugged in my blues jr. and played guitar. Save your money. Invest in tubes. If they go bad, buy new ones. Screw tech support.

Great. If your a guitarist with a lot of real gear of course your gonna be conflicted with this. But face it, it is an effect processor and amp sim for AN IPAD!!!! WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? For what it is its a great product and sounds really good and is a good investment if you don't have 250bucks to burn. This a great tool for a beginner or a vet player who doesn't want to dig through his closet. Thanks amplitube irig. Best 40 bucks I've spent in along time.

Ok ummmmm...... I was really exited when I got the full version of this app and then I found out that there wasn't anything good on it that the free version does not already supply all of the additional amps, cabinets, and effects are terrible and I will be very happy to give this app five stars when the crappy effects get fixed and the amps (excluding the lead amp) get to be a reasonable quality, I have very little doubt that all of the other reviews where posted by the creators of those app themselves, my advice is to by the free version of the app and the octave effect and stick with that until the app gets seriously updated.

Save your money and get anything else. I was excited when I first read about this, but for it to be anything but an amp, they want you to spend the amount of money as actual gear would cost. My AMPLIFi Fx cost me $100 used and came with dozens of amp models, cabs, pedals, effects and the app was free. New patches are free. This on the other hand is complete garbage where they want to nickel and dime you for everything. I spent $20 so I can play my guitar thru my iPad on one amp model. They won’t get another dime from me. Do your research. I wasn’t scared off by the bad reviews and I should have. This isn’t about the musicians at all.

Crash and Burn. Joining the chorus with disastrous update for which I had high hopes. Crashes at splash screen, tried recommended delete and reload of app, now app loads but all customizations tracks or music gone. Tried in-app purchase of the Jimi Hendrix bundle, no Jimi presets in the factory presets, but do have the four 'new' pedals, (which if you have the other in-app purchases prior, you already had, but now you have a second copy with road warn look). Jimi Hendrix bundle no longer showing available for purchase, restore purchases still does not add the presets. Deleting app/restore purchase still same result. IK products sound great when they work, but wow, time consuming and total loss OUCH!!! I have enjoyed the Jimi Hendrix product on MAC/PC, but interface activation codes on those kill the joy there even if you have several copies over time. Sorry guys, time to go universal app to make up for this one and stop the crazy nickel and dime in order to rebuild confidence. We need a corporate response here to know when and what we can do to get it to work. Musicians First or Accountants First, pick one.

not bad at all. Because of the negative reviews here I wasn't sure about buying at first but saw some nice reviews from Guitar Techniques, and Guitar Player so I thought I would take a try. Worked well then I started having issues with it crashing at boot up. Sent an e-mail to support and they replied that you need to be sure that the app is closed in the multitasking bar of your iPad and iPhone. Because it is still running in the multitask it will not reopen. Once you do that works like a charm.

No good. I like amplitube but this update was stupid, charging for drum tracks? Really? And how are you suppose to turn off the annoying drum track? It keeps playing everytime I try to record something. Fix it, I paid way too much for this app

Limited use. Will not work with Alesis io dock or any hardware that uses the dock connector, unlike I Shred Live,Ampkit,Garage Band,or a number of other music apps I have tried that all work fine with Io dock, camera kit etc. This should be stated on the app purchase page to be used as a factor before purchasing ,If I had known I most likely would have delayed my purchase entail this was corrected . This limits the usefulness of this app as a professional tool. I have purchased all the basic add on's and also the vocal live add on's. And must say I am a little disappointed . On an other note,It also will not work with IOS Beta 5.2 that I have on developer machines (I do not count this towards my star rating) I expect this to be fixed during normal development process.

CRASHFEST. I really want to love this app and have invested in the orange, ampeg, and Mesa bundles. After the recent update, can't even get it to launch! The popping and hissing go away when the tracks are compressed, but makes playback a terrible experience. After three weeks of being unable to access my projects and finding ZERO help, I've decided to delete and reinstall. I lost EVERY project in the process. I can't believe you guys didn't do a better job in QA. Seriously disappointed.

The only way to play guitar on iPad. Sure, there may be other apps out there, but AmpliTube is the best. Great tone, low latency, gobs of options and sounds - make AmpliTube the best guitar app for the iOS system. Oh, and did I mention the drummer that can actually keep time properly? Want to get Jimi's tone? It's in there. Like Slash's grit? In there. 8 track recorder? In there. I tried others on my Gen 4 iPad, but I keep coming back to Amplitube.

Good with some tweaking. Okay, so to all those complaining about the hiss, you have to just tweak the settings and you can get it to go away. Turn down the "presence," switch the cab, make sure the treble isn't up way high, etc. Not that hard. Interestingly, i found i didn't like this app much through headphones (much prefer Stompbox with headphones). But once i plug it into my amp, it's much better. I also echo the desire for more than four effects pedals. Come on, IK!

Reignited my creative fire. Combined with my SonicPort, this app is fulfilling my itch to create. It's the perfect scratchpad and practice tool. I may even try it out on stage at my next solo gig. All I'm really wishing for on a future update is some sort of looping feature, but for now, I'm extremely pleased with the other features offered.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???. Several days and I STILL can't hear anything in any of the apps that I bought. The option to turn off mic is set and can't be changed. Distortion pedal can be accessed even thought I am registered! I've decided finally that I will NOT purchase another product from IK. Other reviews have covered all of the reasons . In addition I've lost all of my presets, spent many weeks try to get audio out sound out of my ipad, finically I had to uninstall then reload. Find my user info and password still my presets are gone and I am thoroughly frustrated and disgusted.

Works great. Although there is always room for improvements I would say that the current version works great. I work with a Gibson Les Paul Standard, Gibson ES335, a customized Charvel and a Fender American Classic Strat. I am mentioning this because when it comes to noise each has different levels in this software as they do thru any of my Marshall amps so I expect there to be in the software. Personally I really do not care to go digital as to me that removes the warm sound of old Marshal amps but can see how others would want this. Thanks!!!

FuLLY aCTuaLiZeD. I have bought the Jimi pack, the Soldano, Fender amps, most of the stomps, and I am overall extremely pleased with the quality and coolness after using these gizmologies on both me iPhone and me iPad. Although I do not own a Soldano I do own a 100watt Plexi clone and the Roger Mayer versions of the Hendrix stomps, mic up using an AKG 414 thru a Neve mic pre. I have been playing and recording for 30 years + and although there is a difference of quality there is no denying the value and simplicity of this stuff. I recommend these things to anybody with $15-$20 to spend on their rig. Doubt you'll regret it. Cheers! Note to the developers: it would be nice if we didn't have to buy things twice when it comes to the iPhone and iPad purchases, that's kinda undude.

WOW! Killer tone!. I have recorded guitar and bass right through the iPad into Logic with this app and I can't believe the tone I got. Regarding other comments: -Poor sound quality on your headphones? What are you using, earbuds? -Importing sound files by wifi beats accessing the iPod library because it allows accurate looping. -It works with similar cables (I use GuitarBud). I have another amp/stompbox app that is like a silly toy next to this one. It distorts, the loop is inaccurate and has a big silent gap, the tuner is dodgy and it just doesn't sound convincing. I will be uninstalling that one. (To record I run a stereo 1/8" cord out of the GuitarBud headphone jack into my iMac or MacBook.)

Were is the Distortion? Updated: NO instrument Audio out on iOS 7.0.2!. over-modulated or distorted audio output on the iOS 7.0.2, i thought the persistent hum or noise was with the App, but not really.. All other Audio or video Apps acts the same, it just needs a full system Reset to make audio out to be normal again. But Now, the APP has NO Audio output on instrument (guitar) -but demo and Drum audio beats okay (got the iRig- tested okay using GarageBand but not with this App) so Please- for a $19 APP, evaluate and FIX ASAP! Already Registered, but were is the Distortion? Pls FIX!

Amplitude full (all). I own this app with all the bells and whistles that can come with it. I like the interface and I love the harmony effect, what I dislike is the limited placement of effects in positions FX1 - FX4. The overdrives and distortions are wimpy and less dynamic than others on the market and controls are touchy. Feedback seems to be a problem like 4pockets Stompbox, which is even worse. If it wasn't for the harmony effect this would only get 2 stars...

Noise and Sound Quality are Terrible!. I was expecting alot better than this! The noise level and fuzz this thing puts out is rediculous! I am not new to apps and have been a guitar player for quite some time. I thought I was getting something that would be cool to sit on the couch and play my guitars without dragging my practice amp out. $60 bucks for app and iRig was not worth it in my opinion. I am not too picky and can settle for ok but this is not ok. Clean amp is the only one that remotely sounds ok. Come on IK Multimedia make this better. You guys are getting boatloads of business because of the iPad commercial! I guess I was suckered it too. Not good.

Foot Controler. For what it is, this is really good. Used it live and loved it. Used amplitube full version on my iPad as my effects processor placed in front of my amp by connecting my guitar through the iRig, and signal out to a 1/8 trs to dual 1/4 mono outputs (plugging one into a twin reverb amp). The tone really blew me away and I was able to get a really balanced tone where I wasn't expecting such. So I am very interested in using this live. Tell me, do you have a blootooth foot controller Or do you have plans for developing one? I'm playing live on the 29th of July and I would really love to travel light instead of lugging around my pedal board. Reply soon. Cheers... Good Job guys. Kin Sound System 3Canal

Poor sound. I purchased both the interface and the full version of irig. Sadly, the distortion sounds are horrible. the fender amp is nice and wIth some of the effects sounds cool, but the reason I purchased this was for the distortion and it's pretty bad. You'll need to use multiple distortion boxes to get any sustain at all and at that point it's just a muddy mess. I really hope they can release decent sounding hi gain amps but this app is not delivering for high gain shread freaks like me. You fender clean folks will enjoy it so I give it two stars.

Terrible Support. Base program and tuner upgrade work very well if you can put up with constant inapp ads. Bought Loops pack and they were ok not great. Vocalive inapp purchase was TERRIBLE along with the response from their support. Not being able to use more than one Vocalive effect at a time from inapp purchase. I got Orange, JH, Slash etc from a special outside the app and have to install the standalone apps to use them. Tired of the frustration so iPad has been formatted and IRig stomp is in the trash. Terrible customer support. It doesn't crash though so that's good. If they ever integrate upgrades that give you the full version inside AT I will reinstall.

These Guys Run A Clip Joint. First the sell you essentially the same app for iPad and iPhone. Then they have the nerve to sell the same effects to you twice. No bundles, no discounts. This goes against every standard set in the App store for quality (aka pricey) music apps. Support Ampkit made by the guys who do Tabtoolkit and Guitartoolkit as they care about their customers, take feedback, offer deals and believe it or not...even give you the superior product at days end.

Bought2x iPad/iphone. I could not install Hendrix on my iPad air. After buying it for iPhone 5s. Feel ripped off. In addition almost every preset has many sections each of which require you to buy a $6.99 pedal or cab or something. Endless up sells. In my business if the customer feels ripped off. I lose them forever. There's lots of competition Up sells and price gouging usually umean someone's got a habit The right price and the right work always go together Great sound. But come on

Torn. The absolute best recording studio app with so many problems. Sometimes whole songs just disappear. Sometimes I try to apply an effect to a track, and the track gets erased. Sometimes I record a whole track just to find out at the end it didn't really record. Too many problems to list. Very frustrating. However, when the stars align, and everything goes just right, the quality of the finished song is awesome.

Regret. Crash issue was resolved with an update, but I still regret this purchase. Clean sounds are audible but noisy, add any dirt and the feedback issue presents. I would not purchase the app, or the multiple in-app additions, again. With the latest update, as with some previous updates, it crashes on launch rendering everything useless. When it does work, it has a poor signal to noise ratio, and for some reason that i cannot understand, is not capable of being very loud. The "play along" feature is ridiculous. Rather than integrating with the iPod app, it requires you to convert any audio file to .wav for playback, which wastes valuable time and space. Given the expense of everything you need to buy to make it useable, if it were to actually launch, brings it close to the price of a Pocket Pod or Pandora. Since they're both close to size of the adapter you have to carry, you come close to even for space/clunkiness. It's just not been worth the hassle, or the expense for me so far. I'm very disappointed in this product and recommend that you consider other options.

Waste of money. What a joke. 60 bucks if you include the price of the super crap cable. That's not the best part, best part is that everything sounds like crap. Really weak with no bottom end and anything else you could use to describe bad tones. A lot of tones? Yes. A lot of bad tones? You guessed it! Words can not express the ripped off feeling after wasting money on this crap. And thanks for 2.0. I was hoping that may make the app at least enjoyable, not just a painful reminder every time I see the icon... Oh wait, nope. That's only for iPhone. Probably didn't help anyway...

Best app ever 5 stars. All my pedals in an app!!! The bad reviews are not justified I believe you thought you could get the whole Shabang for nothing! I almost didn’t buy the app because of the bad reviews. The description for the app is perfect and yes you may have to buy a few extra pedals for your own personalized effects but try buying a pedal for $3.99 at the music store! Good Luck! Great app great effects installed and yes I will buy more pedals!

Issue running on iPad after upgrade. After upgrading to v4, the app would constantly crash during initial load. Ended up deleting app and re-installing. This seems to have fixed it. Haven't tested sound yet, but was slightly annoyed by having to remove the app, and worried that it wouldn't run on my iPad (iOS v7.1.2)... Hopefully I'll remember to update this review after more testing.

Feedback makes this unuseabke. I loved amplitude for iPhone and told all my guitar playing brothers and sisters that this was it! What we've all been waiting for. Well my expectations were for a better experience on the iPad. Not only is amplitude worse for iPad it is completely awful and virtually unusable. I have spent hours of bleeding eardrums pouring through forums trying to figure out why this horrible feedback happens at minimum levels. Only to find out other users are having the same problem. If you use the feedback protection it basically kills the signal. You can't use the overdrive , distortionfx, lead amp or crunch amp at any normal volume. You have to turn your devise down to 1 or 2 . Do not buy until this is resolved. 1star guys this is an app that can actually cause you physical harm. I mean that this app can damage your ears. Do not use. I love the concept hate the execution.

Connection Error. I was really looking forward to this update, but am disappointed. I was able to purchase the effects pedals no problem, but the 8-track recorder and the master effects keep giving me connection errors. "Unknown error 0: Cannot connect to iTunes store". Simply put, it's more than frustrating. I hope they get that straightened out immediately, because the reason I bought the app is because of the two features I cannot get access to.

Nice features, but a bit pricey. I don't mind paying a premium for a really good application and this one delivers. The add-ons are decent quality and I really like the 8 track recorder and the extra effects section. One improvement I'd like to see is to be able to adjust the tuning frequency pitch up or down in individual increments between 430 Hz and 449 Hz, as with good tuners, instead of the default 440 Hz.

I hate this software now soooooo much.. This used to work fine. But now it crashes all the time when recording and switching between projects. It is so aggravating because it used to be good. Honestly I'll never use this product or this company's other products again. There are far better products elsewhere. Trust was broken. Seems like it may have gone down hill after forcing the software to give me pop-up adds for their crappy speaker even though I've spent a ton of money on their software as it is. Stay away.

Simply frustrating. When I first got this app several years ago, it was great.....then I tried to use it with SampleTank...yikes. I’m telling you right now, IK just doesn’t make this worth it anymore. I have sunk quite a bit of money into this and their other programs and nothing seems to work consistently. I’m at the point I wish they had a time machine app so I could go back and get my money back....but that probably wouldn’t work right either

Not possible to transfer purchased items to iPhone. App has a lot app purchases inside. Without these extras it barely usable. Expect to spend about $40 for this and that. However, it’s not possible to transfer purchased items to iPhone. I contacted support and they responded to all other issues, but for this one (can’t transfer purchased items) they just keep silence and do not reply. Also, while app has decent core functionality, it’s not polished and has a lot of bugs, like metronom will not start on first tap, need to stop and start it again. This app and it’s extras are priced unreasonably high for present quality.

Beautiful app for guitar. I have used both the built-in mic on the IPad and the Irig interface and both were great. It is an excellent learning tool by recording your playing and examine the recording to correct errors next time I play. Lots if options. I bought the studio and 8 track recorder and love it

Other Amplitube apps are not iOS 8 compatible, bundle a ripoff. I wish I paid closer attention to the last version update date when I purchased this with the full Amplitube bundle. Although the main/original Amplitube app was updated in Oct 2014, the Fender, Slash, Jimi Hendrix, and Orange versions have not been updated and are not iOS 8 compatible. Also, this bundle of separate apps makes no sense. Yes, the Fender, Slash, Jimi Hendrix, and Orange versions are separate stand-alone apps, instead of being in-app purchases within the main Amplitube app, which would make much more sense and be more useable. They've made it impossible to mix and match the amps, cabs, and effects between them. It's also a bit of a ripoff that the bundle does not include the multitrack recorder, and if you want it, you have to purchase it separately for each of the Amplitube apps. Given how happy I've been with other IK MultiMedia products, like the iRigs, of which I own 3, the Amplitube family has been a bit of a disappointment.

No Problem Here!. I have used IK for years before the Apple Revolution. On the IPad Air 2, this program is great!! It does nitpick with the in app purchases which is very annoying! Other than that, this is a great tool!! Treat it as a practice/recording tool. I have cut some really good tracks with this. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

I'm keeping the upgrade.. It's working for me pretty well on my lowly iPad 2. Overall the tone is now the best out there. Found one amp that cracks & pops, but it's not one that I really ever use. I could live without the unpurchased items cluttering up the interface. Amplitude definitely needs to rein in their marketing & sales division. Put that stuff in the free version.

Cancel your show!!. This App is terrible, don't let the others fool you. It took forever to download, it's just a starter app so you still have to buy all the effects. It only comes with a few everything else is a buy up, the studio is a buy up also, the better amps are buy ups and so on. As of right now none of my amps or effects work, the only things that are working are a metronome and the tuner. I not trying to play professional or anything just wanted to try it out and get some playing time without setting up my whole rig. I would rather spend the time now. Wait till you see more positive reviews on this app. It's a good concept they just need to work out the bugs. Save your money, download a song!

Disappointed. I made the in-app purchase for the vocalive vocal processing, but I am only able to add the vocal processing in the first slot and not the other three. I enjoy the app greatly, but I wish that I would be able to add the vocal effects in the other slots as well. The lack of this ability gives me the nagging feeling in the back of my head that I was robbed. Not to mention that the purchase of this app, nor any in-app purchases, transfer from the iPad to the iPod.
