Why It's the MOST POPULAR 5K Running App
--------------------------------------
IRONMAN LISTENS TO HIS OWN MUSIC"
"Not only did this app give me audio alerts telling me when I should run or walk, but I was able to listen to my own music from my iPod list instead of some other person's preference of motivational music."
– Matthew Murphy
Completed first 5k by week 7 (in 0:27:37). Has since done Ironman!

GREAT-GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER OF EMILY POST NOW RUNS
"I have NEVER been a distance runner – hated running warm ups in high school, was always the last one done, huffing and puffing the whole way. While I had heard of interval programs, I had never tried one or thought I could do it... until I found your app. It has been the missing piece that allowed me to break my weight loss plateau."
– Lizzy Post

FROM 365 POUNDS TO RUNNING THE 5K... IN 6 MONTHS
"In February of 2011, I weighed 365 pounds. I decided it was time to change. I began to look at programs to help beginning runners. I was convinced that this app from Bluefin Software was the best choice. On July 4th, I ran a 5K! If you're thinking about starting to run, I can tell you - without hesitation - that app from Bluefin is the best start."
– Mark D Rucker
Completed 5K and 10k. Signed up for half-marathon on Oct 23, 2011!

Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Used to be better. It doesn’t work when the phone screen is locked, rendering it basically useless. If I keep my phone on the entire time it’s ok, but that’s annoying and uses up 50% of my phone battery for one app. Not cool.

Thank you for the motivation and fun!. I LOVE this program! It is fun, and easy to use, and I love making my own playlists for the runs from music I already have on my iPod Touch. I am healing from two surgeries in 2009; knee and groin. I have not been able to exercise aerobically much at all for about a year, and consequently, gained 20lbs. and 1+ pant sizes. I used to love trail running, and I have been so depressed about my slow recovery. I really don't like gyms, but I do well in PT because someone is there to make me do it. This C25K app is the first major improvement in my life for 2010! It literally has allowed me to jog/shuffle with my knee brace on the first week, to being able to actually run with some strength the second week. Taking a break, and forcing myself to do it every other day, and only do as much as the program prompts you to do is wonderful. It is so exciting to accomplish even this little bit of jogging right now, when I couldn't drive a car for 2 months. : ) I love how Alex keeps updating the program, and my 7 year old son ran on the trail with me yesterday, and he loved the "walk" now "run".... aspect of it too. It's like playing "Red Light", "Green Light"! Thank you, Alex. This is definitely the future of work outs. Life is good.

Fine app location tracking needs to be fixed. I’ve used this app for a few years and it’s done a great job getting me running. I liked that it wasn’t a social app like Strava because I don’t need my runs shared with anyone else. The app no longer seems to work if location services are set to “only in use” and that’s a problem. No reason y’all need to track me when I’m not running. Please fix that and you’d be a 5-star review.

FINALLY. I have used this app for 2-3 years but now it won't post (journal) to Facebook!! Please fix. Other than that I love it!! Ok. Finally it's fixed!! Thank you!!

Needs improvement. I've used this app for many years, as long as I've owned iPhone. I used to love this app but recently (in one week) I've had crashes and voice prompt issues. The crashes I wrote off as a fluke, but when I hear run and the next voice alert I get is also run something is wrong. I don't always get the cool down or completed workout prompt anymore either. I wouldn't be using the taper if I didn't need it, so it's getting obnoxious.

Update please. I wish they would update this app. It’s my favorite couch to 5k app I’ve used. I love the interface and the options. But it’s been 5 years and the little bugs are making it janky. I’m moving on to another app, but this has been my favorite. Sad to let it go.

Awesome!. UPDATE: This app went downhill. I’ve had it since 2012 and now it doesn’t alert you if your phone’s screen is off (wasting battery power) and now for 2 weeks it’s glitchy. Takes too long to start. Auto pauses even though your moving. When you try to restart it tells you to run when you should be walking or vice versa. It’s terrible anymore. Wish i could get my money back now. The best thing about this app is just when you think you'll have to repeat a day because you feel not ready, you surprise yourself by being more than ready. The app is timed perfectly to your abilities to go longer and harder.

Unreliable. Keep having issues with the workouts pausing on their own over and over. Sometimes I can get back going, sometimes get stuck in a loop of pauses every few seconds! (No problems with my phone or any other apps).

Solid app. I used this ten years ago when I first got into running 5k. Now I’m opening it up again after a few years off. It’s as effective as I remember.

Recommended. Works well, great app for the beginner runner.

App doesn’t always work right. I paid for the full app but the free version was the one running - I had to purchase a second time. And if I purchase an app I expect it to work and not cause me to have to stop multiple times during my run to fix settings.

Reviews are mixed but I love it. I know the reviews are all over the place on this app so I will write to say my experience has been great with it. Over the past 4 years I've attempted the training schedule probably 5 or 6 different times without finishing (my lack of self discipline, not the app). Well, I just now finished week 6 and I really think I'm going to complete it this time. I have not experienced the technical difficulties others are describing. For like a week I couldn't get the music to advance past the first track, but then I finally figured out you have to make sure your music app itself isn't set to repeat... Otherwise the music on this app will be, too.

Love this app!. I love this app! I've had it for over 3 years and use it off and on when I'm preparing for a race or just working out. I have never had a single technical issue with it. I've used it outdoors and while on a treadmill. I used to use my playlist, but for the past year I use rock my run instead. What I love about the app is that it starts out gradually and doesn't expect you to be a "runner" on day 2. Lately I've just been using it for timed runs and distance runs. I love the flexibility that I can use it to track and log my runs without having to always follow the chronological order. I can't recommend this app any more highly!

Best app by far. I could never get going on a running program until actually the predecessor of this program called Couch to 5K. It almost teases you into pushing forward.

Great but phone can’t lock to work. I love this app’s purpose, but I continually have this issue where if my iPhone locks the voice and tone notification to walk/run won’t work. You can “lock” the app’s screen but that doesn’t lock the rest of your phone. If the side lock button gets bumped while I’m running I don’t get notified. I have messed with phone setting, etc and it still happens. Otherwise a good app.

Where's the watch app?!. Would be 5 star rating if it had a watch app to tell you your info instead of having to pull the phone out.

Outdated. I love the app and have had it for years, but the latest version is over 3 years old now without any updates. If you stream music while you’re running with the app on, be prepared for severe battery drainage. (Let’s not even get into if you’re using wireless earbuds and most new phones have driven us to!) You also cannot lock your phone while using the app (to conserve battery life) because if you do lock your phone, the audio cues will stop playing, essentially ruining your program for the day. It seems crazy that this has been abandoned by the developers, bc I would love to have this on my Apple Watch so that I don’t even have to bring my phone with me on a run.

It's garbage.. The app worked great when I first downloaded it, now it doesn't track my speed or distance correctly even after resetting location and everything else. I ran for a little over 2 miles and it only tracked .03. What? A seventy-four minute mile? Almost impossible. Glad I re-upped my subscription for nothing. I will be purchasing a similar app with better reviews. Learned my lesson on checking stats before wasting my money.

Crashes. Twice in the last week music stops playing 2/3 through the workout then the app crashes. This is very disappointing. This app was once called Couch To 5K. I bought this app and later it changed names to Ease To 5K. I noticed that Couch To 5K can be purchased again. If this is a better version of the app I feel that I have been ripped off.

Overall good trainer. Does a pretty good job training you to run. Does have a few bugs that need fixing: 1) In first weeks run tells you there are 8 intervals but as soon as you finish number 8, says 9/9 so you get one more. A little frustrating. 2) Have found that if I have the program running but switch to my music on the screen, I will not get alerted when to start next run. Need to switch to music app and back before next interval or you will be late starting. Do like the information it provides as far as current pace, distance and overall pace. Do think I would like overall pace to be calculated without the warm up times factored in.

Ease into 5k is a great app. I have experienced having to start my music before the app, as others have said. But that is a tiny issue. I love the program. I am gradually building stamina to run more each day. Thank you, bluefin for helping me stay strong.

Okay but.... I’ve had this app for about 10 years, and haven’t used it for awhile, but now that my foot had healed, my only complaint is that iPod shuffle does not work.

No alerts when locked. It only gives you alerts to run or walk when the app is open and the screen is unlocked. That defeats the purpose.

Abandoned? Not updated in over 3 yrs. I had used this app a lot in the past. It’s not been updated in ages and now runs erratically in the newest versions of iOS. Looks like it’s time to move on.

Terrible. Won’t alert you unless you have the app on the screen. You can’t switch to anything else or lock the screen.

WAS great. This WAS a great app (in 2019) but the they don’t update... all I can say is the program is good- but honestly, there are other (free) ways of following the program that aren’t as clunky and old school.

Been using this for years. I really like this. And I love that I can put it in 60 minutes and even track a walk if I want to. Lovely app!

Don't bother. No voice alerts makes this useless.

What went wrong?. I used this app a couple of years ago to train for my first 5k, and it worked great. This morning I tried it for the first time since then (recovering from injury) and it keeps freezing up on my iPhone 6S Plus. Disappointing!!

Disappointed. I used an earlier version of this app 4-5 years ago and was pretty happy with it. When I decided to get back into running it was the first one I pulled up. However, on Week 1 Day 1 during my workout I discovered that the alerts do not work when the phone is locked. That is a HUGE negative for me as a pocket phone holder, and a deal breaker. I will be looking for another C25K app.

App doesn’t work...Please Update!. This app has stopped working with the latest iOS.

Missing one thing. The app is great and I love using it to get ready back into running. However, it doesn’t track you if you’re on a treadmill. Other apps will track this if you have it on your arm (it counts arm swings). Occasionally I have to run on a treadmill and this app doesn’t pick up how far you’ve gone during the workout. Disappointing to see “152 minute pace during this workout” When really I ran the entire time at a 9:30 pace!!

Great app!. Extremely user friendly. Great system to use when new to running and not sure where to start.

Some bugs but does the job.. iPhone4 with iOS 4.2.1: This app is quite handy at keeping track of time and telling you what to do so you can concentrate on running and breathing correctly. I was surprised how quickly my minute runs went with my playlist loaded up. The app is simple to use and I found the female voice prompts pleasing as I'm a sucker for a British accent. I would have rather setup my twitter and facebook account information prior to my workout as at the gym I didn't know my random passwords for both by memory. By default it will post a general summary of what you did as your wall post or tweet but you can edit this each time. There is a journal which lets you record how ya felt, the weather that day, where you ran, distance, speed, calories burned, and your weight. This information however does not post to Facebook or Twitter. In previous releases it would allow you to email this information but that seems to be missing from the latest release. I would like to see all of this post to my Facebook wall as a way to say to all my friends, "Hey look what I did today!" Another feature I'd like to see is the ability to record my own voice prompts. An encouraging word from my partner in her own voice as a prompt might provide just the extra "oompf" I need those last few minutes of a run. This application works, doesn't crash, and is easy to use. I just graduated from it recently, and I bought the Bridge 2 10K app from the same publisher.

Not what it used to be.... I got this app several years ago. Then I’d have given it 5 stars easily. In my opinion it was the best running app out there. Used a few times off and on. This year I got it to start training with a 5k with one of the kids. Currently on week 5. It’s only worked three times one week out of it all. We’ve had to use a different running app when these freezes or set our timer for intervals on running when the second app froze. In it’s current state do not get this app. When or if it’s fixed I’d be more than happy to go back re-rate to 5 stars.

Great app!!. I downloaded this app a few years ago. I started it a couple of times, but never finished. I tried it again this past summer and finally had success!! By the end of the program, I was only up to 2.5 miles in 30 minutes, so I would gradually go more each day until I made it to 3.1! This program has definitely turned me into a run addict! I even ran 6.2 miles the other day!!!! I highly recommend this app. My advice is to take it slow, and don't let one bad day or even week discourage you. If you don't feel like you are ready to move on to the next week, then don't. Give that week another try, then re-evaluate again. Just don't sell yourself short!!! Believe me when I say you are far more capable than you think you are!!! This is coming from a girl who used to DESPISE running. So much so that I would be "sick" in high school on the days I knew we had to run 2 miles at practice. Now I run 2 miles on my "short run" days! I also HIGHLY recommend that you invest in running shoes. My New Balances weren't quite cutting it, so I went to a local running store and they suggested a pair of Brooks shoes. Wow what a difference! I also recommend a good sports bra for those of us that are blessed up top. 😉 Give this program a try! You won't regret it!!

OS 11 update has tanked this app. Please fix! GPS is unreliable

It worked for me!. I'm on week 8 of the program and can't believe how far I've come! I was a runner in the past but after having a baby I was having a hard time getting back into it. This program gave me the baby steps I needed to get back to where I was.

Not a runner👍. I am by far no runner but I knew I had to change my work out to challenge myself. The app is awesome. I could not be any more satisfied with it. Thanks Bluefin

It worked for me!. I just completed this 5k training plan. I started off barely able to run for 90 seconds and now I am going for 30! This app has the basics, everything you need to make it to your goal.

Great app. I have used this app on and off for 3 or so years. I've never had an issue with it, but I also use it for the very basics. I don't post to Facebook nor do I use the GPS feature as my iPod does not have that capability. I would definitely recommend this to someone starting out!

No longer useful. I've had this app for several years and have recommended it to many new runners. Recently I downloaded it again to start running after an injury but was disappointed by the current version. The run/walk alerts no longer work when the iPhone is locked. You have to set the auto lock to never in order for the alerts to come through. This one great app is now just a so-so GPS tracker with music. Save your money and look elsewhere until they fix this problem.

Frustrated. I can’t get this thing to work unless my screen is on. Even then my songs stop every time it alerts me to run or walk making it impossible to keep my phone zipped up. My phone almost always dies either before or just as I’m finishing. So annoying. If they fix it this would be a really good app because it’s features are better than most. Especially if you’re wanting to graduate to the 10k without starting over like other apps do.

Love it, but one suggestion. I love this app, and have used it several times to return to running after having a baby. My only criticism is that I wish it worked to notify of changes, “walk”, “run”, etc. while the screen was off.

Voice alerts don't work. The voice alerts don't work in the new OS! I restarted, and still nothing. This basically makes it a music player with fewer features. It's a discouraging way to restart my 5k training. Fortunately there are other apps out there that serve the same purpose.

Big fail. I couldn't hear any alerts to walk or run. I thought I was going crazy. Turns out, it's just that the app requires that not only you keep it in the foreground, but that the display never sleeps. Seriously? I am not going to adjust my settings back and forth every day from lockout after 30 seconds to never. Throwing this away.

Great app for beginners and those making a comeback following injury. I have used this app many times for my come backs following various injuries including breaking the same bone in my right foot twice. This is an awesome app for beginners and people like me who have to start over again. Having a problem getting the music to sync with the app this time, but not really a big deal. I open my music then start the app.

Freezes. Bought this app several years ago and had no problems with it. Began using it again about 2 weeks ago and it either freezes, doesn't play the music playlist I specifically made on the app, or the GPS keeps track of the miles wrong. There is no way I ran/walked 9 miles my 2nd week of the app. I will be looking for a new app. (iPhone 6s Plus)

Sometimes unreliable. When it works, it works fine, but it’s sometimes unreliable. There seem to be some programming issues. For example, sometimes it starts the music when I start the warmup and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve had it crash mid-run; this is really annoying when you’re waiting for it to tell you to stop running (or start running)! And, for the love of Pete, don’t lock the device while this is running! (It won’t tell you anything.) It’s basically a good app, it just needs some updated programming.

Please update the app. Please update the app so that it works with Apple Music! I really want to use this app again! It tends to crash sometimes too!

This is the one you want - you can stop looking.. New update lets you create your own playlists from within the app - no more hitting a chillout recovery track halfway up a hill. Up a hill? you ask... YES it really is couch to 5k (you don't have to go up hills, use it on the treadmill if you like). Hoping for 10k one soon. Good stuff. - Get an armband.

Everything you can ask for!. On the first week of using it and I LOVE IT! I read past reviews and people were disappointed about the measurement options and no GPS feature BUT, It now has Km & Kg measurements so us metric users are no longer left out AND its got a GPS feature! Nothing more to say but an completely satisfied with it.

Great app!. Absolutely ecstatic about this app - has been helping me workout and feel fit for a long time now. I'm losing weight and feeling happier with myself because every week I'm achieving bigger goals. I've been less happy with it since the update but it's still getting me off my bum :)

Fav fitness app!. I used this app to get fit a while back & found myself running for 2 straight hours on my fitness runs within a few months! A foot injury sidelined me for quite some time & I stopped running. I've re-started back w/ this app a week ago & can already feel the benefits - SO looking forward to getting 5K fit & beyond! Thx guys

Needs to be compatible with I watch. This app would be perfect if it would connect to the I watch. I go for a run and usually have to hold it in my hand while I have a perfectly good watch on my hand that could do the job!

C25K app. Great app. I was searching for an app that would help me train for a mud run and improve my over all fitness level. This has been perfect. I now enjoy getting up in the morning and going for a run. Thanks for the update to show in kilometers instead of miles.

Recall03. I love this app! Did it back in February as I was desperate to lose weight….boy did it work. Caught the runners bug after getting to the final week - have lost 19kgs and just did my first City2Surf - 14kms in 90 minutes. C25K is a great way to ease you back into exercise - before you know it you'll be calling yourself a 'runner'.

Great Ap & it works!!. I have lost weight and improved in my fitness level thanks to this Ap! It is so effective in easing / challenging yourself to be able to run further and further! I replaced my phone and was also impressed that I didn't have to pay again to install it onto my new iPhone! I have already gotten several friends onto Ease into 5kms (formally Couch2 5ks!

5k app. Since starting this app I have become a morning person with a passion. I look forward to my run knowing its all set for me and I push myself where as before when I set my own program I would slacken off. I recommend it to everyone I know is trying to improve there fitness

Great app - well worth the price!. This program is designed for naturally progressing, all you need to do is make the time to fit in about 30 minutes, 3 times a week. Love it! Just finished week 4/ run 1. Trust this app, your body will be ready to step up even if your mind isn't convinced!

great program. best way I know to build up my fitness levels. I've really enjoyed using it and the sense of achievement it has allowed me. I was never a runner (maybe a sprinter in my early teens) and to be honest decades of very little exercise. now running feels like an important part of my life. really happy to recommend this program.

Great App. Really like this app as it keeps you track to keep getting to the next week with achievable goals. Builds you up week by week and keeps you motivated. Also recommend GPS as you can track where you usually run.

Good app. I'm a long time user of this an have recommended it to all my friends. Now here is the but. There is a consistent problem with this app which despite many emails to customer service I have had no replies or it seems any attempt to fix. A great app ruined by poor customer service. 1 star.

This taught me to run!. I've never been into exercise but this app made it very easy to teach myself to run and increase the difficulty at my own pace. I like it because you don't have to able to run continuously to get a work out. I also like how you can measure your progress on graphs.

Worth the money!. I love this app & am now up to week 8. I'm using it for pre-pre-season netball & am entering fun runs left right & centre. Going to restart program once finished to increase my speed (jogging instead of walking, then sprinting instead of running). Agree with everyone else, would be great to have an extension on this to keep on going. Buy this!

Great app but needs Apple Watch link. I love this app. It’s easy to use and helped me achieve my goal of running 5km. The only thing that lets it down is that it doesn’t have an Apple Watch app. Please, please, please add this feature.

Great to start running. I never thought I'd enjoy running. The idea was preposterous. I always wanted to be able to run but never thought I'd do it. I bought this app about 5 years before I ever used it. Since starting I never looked back and am hooked on running, doing 5km 3 times a week. The ONLY bugbear is it stops working if the screen is locked. The app itself will keep the screen from auto lock but simply putting the phone into your belt can cause an accidental lock which results in you not knowing when to start running. If it weren't for this it would get 5 stars.

Long-time user. I've been using this app for a few years when I've needed to return to running after injury and have found it to be good. Last year I requested an icon in the journal for running at night (a moon perhaps) as the other icons aren't relevant when running at night. The latest version is very inaccurate when it comes to pace. Today's run, according to the app I ran average pace of 11:22/km, walked average pace of 14:xx/km yet my overall average pace was 8:14/km?!? Also, it won't save my weight correctly so each time I journal I have to enter my correct weight. It still works but its buggy!

Awesome app. My fave app! Was never able to run and started using this app and absolutely loved it. A great, fun way to ease into running either outdoors or at the gym. Love the journal - it's a really good way to track your progress over the weeks. I'm now working on extending my 30 min run to 45 mins - couldn't have done it without this app!

Long time user. I’ve been using this app on and off since 2011. It’s a great program that you can just pick up and go, no matter how unfit you are!! I only 2 issues with it - the app doesn’t work if the screen is locked and there is no Apple Watch support. If all I needed was my watch and headphones, it would be 5 stars+!!!

Great app. The most recent update caused a few issues with the voice alerts not playing when the app was running in the background - this can be fixed via Settings > Notifications > Ease into 5k App > Select 'on' for all options. Otherwise, fantastic app! Love it!

I ran a marathon because of this ap!. 8 years ago (2012) when I first downloaded this app, I went from never having run in my life and actively being one of those people who avoid sports like the plague, to believing I could run a marathon! And I did! With the help of the 0-10k or bridge to 10k and the marathon training app (also releases by this company), I progressively worked my way through all the apps over about 8months and successfully completed my first and only sporting event. But, about 4 years ago (2016), when the iPhone 6 came out with its stupid software updates that didn’t work with this app’s updates, I gave up because I couldn’t get this app to work properly on my phone. Now in 2020 with an iPhone 8 it still doesn’t work as great as it did in 2012, but I have learnt to live with the fact that you CANNOT lock your iPhone. You must keep the screen on and lock the screen within the app instead. The minute the iPhone is locked, the app stops reading out the voice commands and you will loose your place in the training. I find this irritating as I’ve accidentally locked the screen in my pocket many times when looking for the volume button. BUT, I doubt there is a better series of running apps to get a novice and unfit person like me motivated! So if you can be patient and careful NOT to LOCK your iPhone screen, it will work perfectly for you. If I could bring back the 2012 version (in which you could lock the screen and it still worked perfectly), I would give this 5 stars, instead I have to give it 4.

Great motivational app!. I'm getting back into running after having my 2nd child. I was a runner before the 1st child and tried to get back into running after she was born and really struggled with keeping motivated and running just became a chore rather than something to enjoy. This time around its so much easier because this app is helping me build up at a manageable pace. I'm back into loving running again!

awesome. a brilliant app! nice and challenging but achievable. I love moving onto the next level. As I don't have an iphone (just ipod) I don't get to use the whole gps distance business, but that's okay. What I'd really like is the option to delete individual journal entries. At the moment there's only the option to delete the whole lot, which i don't want to do. it just happens that there are some weird blank ones in there that i've obviously done accidentally, but i can't neaten it up and delete them without deleting everything

Well paced. Into 2nd week (3rd time starting), find it enough to push me, having never been a runner. Have been surprised each time that I have actually managed to run for each section. The only problem is convincing myself to get out of bed at 5:30 to do it!!

Great ap!. I had heard about c25k and when I finally got an iPhone I couldn't wait to try it out. I'm Enjoying it even more than I expected! Easy to use, great for beginners because you can progress as fast or as slowly as you like. I've now finished the program but still use the a to time and calculate my run pace and o compare my progress. Next I'll try the 10k!!

Awesome app. Never been much of a runner. Am at the lowest fitness level that I've ever been. This app is great! The journal history is motivating and love that I can also do on treadmill during bad weather. Recent upgrade with metric measurements is a godsend. Thankyou for listening to our feedback!

Best app I've had. I have never taken the time to review an app as nothing has ever impressed me so much. After over 1 year of not being able to run for more than around 10 minutes without getting an injury, I finally finished my 3rd run of 30 mins today. Thanks to this super easy to use app I feel confident to run on a regular basis injury free. It has never frozen or crashed and is so straightforward to use. The little quotes with each run are inspirational an I love running along to the playlist I added from my iTunes library. Thanks c25k for getting me running again :-)

Fantastic app to get started. Found this app in Feb 2010 and it is the sole app I used to get running. 8 months later and I'm regularly running 10K in under 60 mins at 37 years of age having never run distance in my life!!! Love the voice over and controls over music and volume. Solid, reliable app!!

It's not just for beginners. I've taken 16 months off to get over some stress fractures. I've run 5 marathons, but have recently been vexed I found that if I'm not careful, I increase too much and find myself right back in the stress fx misery. Sticking to the 10% increase from a 5 km base is not hard, but how do you get from 0 to 5 km? Last time I took math, 10% of 0 is 0. C25K is a great way to get there. My biggest problem was deciding on my playlist. Once I started, I could put the phone away and let Mr Voice tell me what to do. After I hit 5 km, I plan on getting the bridge or ease to 10 km app. And from there? I'd start over with the 5 km one just to ease myself into Vibram Five Fingers or barefoot running.

The Best App ever. As a none runner I was looking for a way to increase my fitness and had always relied on walking. I heard about the app in a Weight Watchers blog and thought if they can do it surely I can and I can do it at my own pace. I love my half hour run and it's all thanks to C25K.

Makes running way easier.. Can't speak highly enough of this. Easy to use. Starts really gently and easily. Then the good progressions make the run times achieveable. Found I could skip ahead a day or 2 as I got fitter. Just reached the 5km target and contemplating the next app for 10km! Unthinkable not long ago.

Freezing and inoperable with iOS 11.2.2. Have tried to use with latest iOS and freezes completely as soon as countdown screen launches. Have tried restarting phone to no avail. Frustrating as have used app a number of times in the past and otherwise is a great app with all the functionality required.

Post to twitter broken?. I've got an iPhone5 and i went for a run today (i can almost do the entire week 3 without stopping hurrah!) and i normally like posting it to my twitter feed and have it set up to automatically do that, but today i kept getting the 404 error and it's upsetting. I thought it was my password so i rekeyed everything and it was still giving me that. Can there be a fix for it please! D: Other than that i love this app so much, the change in intervals are actually easy. It's great! I'm finally hitting week 3, as in the past i've always injured myself at this point and couldn't go any further until i was all healed. So far so good!

Best Running App!!. I have been using this app for 4 weeks now. Unfortunately I did not find it until about week 3 of the program. This is by FAR the best app for the novice runner. It's a bargain at twice the price! The new facebook integration is fantastic! I just bought the GW28K (Gateway To 8K) which is the next program after the C25K. I hope by the time I finish it, that Alex will have the 10K and Beyond App done!

Great app!. This is exactly what I needed to get me going (and a new pair of running shoes) and it worked for me. Cheaper than a gym membership! Well designed app. Voice over is not too intrusive. Seems that you cannot add and delete from playlist. You have to start over again. Nevertheless, I still give it 5 stars.

Give it a go. What a great idea! You can create your own playlist to listen to when you train, yet you will still hear a voice tell you when to walk or jog. Its a gradual build up each week - I found its not easy but its also not too hard. Great app!

Bug. I really like this app. But for my last two jogs for some reason the sound and vibrate alert to signal when to change between running and walking is not working - Is this a bug as a result of the latest iPhone software update? If so it would be great if it could be fixed.

Love it!. This ap is fantastic. I literally have just hopped off the couch and I am able to keep up with the training. I'm now in my second week and it's already easier. Thanks for making the ap. One thing though could you update it for the metric system?!? Thanks!

I am a runner!!. Thank you sooooo much for creating this brilliant app - I went from dying over 90 seconds of running to doing 30 mins almost effortlessly. Best thing is how inexpensive it is and how easy it is to achieve when all you have to do is set aside 30 mins of your time. Music, notifications and additional gps features are excellent! Thank you!!

Needs a metric option. I really love the journalling and gps setting in this app. It can show you how far you've come when you review your progress. If this app had the choice of kilograms, kilojoules and kilometers it'd be perfect. Also the option to change the colour of the interface might be something to be considered so that users can personalise the app. But definitely please make a metric option!!!

Excellent!. I love this app, it got me off the couch about 18 months ago and I use it whenever I've had a break, just find where my fitness level is at and start from there. Going to get the power walking app for some variety this winter after my races are over and my focus shifts to my Physie comps :)

Worth the tiny investment!. I've just had my second baby, and while I have run in the past, my fitness is at its lowest in years. This app is helping me get back to where I was gradually, and without hurting myself. I've set a goal of a 5k fun run in 8 weeks time, and after only 2 weeks using this app I'm sure I'll get there no worries. I'm not usually one to buy apps, but think of how much you spend on gym memberships, $3 is nothing!

Fantastic app. A friend of mine was using similar app to help count the exercise and I stumbled across this program in my search to help get off the couch. 10 weeks later I've completed a 6km fun run and am going for leisurely 30 minute runs before work, something I never would have done before getting off the couch. This app is great with the prompting and the music and the reports and status updates after the run.

Disappointed.. I loved this app and was about ½ way through. Sadly the newest update turned it to caca. Looks like there were important changes to how it works, that you have to find out by chance. And no matter what changes I made, once the app was in the background there were no voice prompts. This makes completely useless - who runs whilst looking at the screen?! Very disappointed and now have to start over with new app!

From 0 to 5K this really works.. Starting off at 25kg overweight I have used this app both on treadmill and the road. The first few weeks are pretty gentle and give you a nice progression. Around week 4 and 5 things pick up! I thought the progressions we're going to be too much but I was able to adhere to the instructions well and increase my capacity each week. I'm now running 5K and about to begin 5 to 10k app! Only downside is that it's not optimised for treadmill use, I can't seem to turn the GPS off. Other than that I highly recommend it!!

Absolutely awsome app. I love this app. It is so great. It's easy to use and works amazingly. I found it great to motivate me when my head said to give up I see how long I had left until a break and push that little bit further. It lets you play your music behind and control songs from this app. I have recommended it to everyone. Love it!

Best app I've ever used.. Before downloading this app, I could run a maximum of 5 minutes on a treadmill. I'd wanted to be able to run on the streets as exercise for years but could get barely around the block before wanting to stop. Now, it took me actually 2 years to complete this program, cos I'd get up to week 4, look what was ahead, think it was too hard and stop. But when I started again this July at week 4, I swore to myself I'd finish and I did. The first time I ran 20 minutes without stopping I couldn't believe it. And there is absolutely no way I could have done that without the support of this training program. Having someone tell you when to run and walk, just following their instructions and listening to music. Also it maps your run (whether you have internet connection or not) and I have run all over the world so it is fantastic to look back through the journal and remember those places and journeys from the maps that are stored. Now I run most mornings, for about 20 minutes (approx 3.5km) which I still find a challenge but is an achievable goal for me, which means I actually keep doing it rather than giving up on it for being too hard. This works for me. Highly recommended to anyone.

Great app!. Fantastic app! It works really well with the Nike+ and is a good motivator to get you running again. Am up to week 8 now and still loving the app, only improvement I can suggest is a "Power song" button to play your favourite song to get you over the line for the end of your run.

Wonderful. C25K has taken me to not even being able to run to the end of the street, to running over 5km with ease. Great program, well paced out with walking/running and great music integration. I have recommended to all who will listen and who want to start running. Cheers Kathy..

Review. Love this app. It had motivated a non-runner into a 5km+ runner. Since beginning running with this app, I have logged over 600kms. Stats are very motivating!

Awesome!. Love this app!

Great Trainer. Perfect for non-runners just starting out. Updates have made this an exceptional tool. Used it last year for a 5K and doing the same this summer. It doesn't even feel like you're training then you're running 5K!

Great!. Purchased the ap two years ago and still use it several times a week.

Doesn. Ways this app is inferior to other running apps I've tried: - Can't link to pre-made iPod playlists - Opens the GPS, and doesn't shut it down automatically when you're done your workout - The music stops when you click "done" on the workout - It won't let you choose if you want to measure your distance/pace in KM instead of the default miles These are all really important things to me. I'm really sorry I bought this app, and even more sorry I bought the GPS add on. Would not recommend this app to others, and indeed would try to warn them against it.

Great App!!. Helped me master my first 5 K, great for beginners!!

Great tool. I've used this app a couple years and it's perfect, no glitches and does exactly what is advertised. Recommend to everyone!

Keeps me going!!!. I love this app. I am currently on week 4 and am feeling better and better with each run. Thanks!!

Best learn to run app!. Easy, take anywhere program! Looking forward the the 10K version!

Great for non runners. I have wanted to run my whole life... I just could not do it. My daughter told me about this APP and i love it. I am losing weight and i feel amazing. I have no issues with app crashing.

Funtastic App. I second everything said by Miss McGovern. Love it! So cheap to get in shape on your own schedule! My only wish now is that it would have the option to shuffle my playlist, and maybe include some recommended stretches in as part of the program somehow. Great app, visually appealing.

Lové it. I love it

LOVE IT!. I'm not a runner and I've NEVER liked to run. This app is not BS. I have never ran 30 minutes or 5k straight in my life. This got me there. Don't get me wrong... I still don't like to run, but at least I can if I want to!

Love this program. It works! Try it you won't be disappointed

Music random please!. Great app, highly recommend. Doing more than i ever thought i could. Would like random music and a stretch sequence to give it a 5 star

Love it!. So helpful and easy to use. I am training for my first 5k next september and i know i'll do great with this app!

Worth the money!. Love this app! it's my go to every time I go for a run! I am a wanna be runner and this app happens helped me get back on the 5K bandwagon many times!

My favorite. Still my favourite run app. Just keeps getting better and better.

RunnerNoob. Tried a few and I liked this one best. Have fun running!

Love this app!. I have tried different running programs for over 20 years but this is the one that has made me a runner. The intervals that gradually increase are perfect for building your endurance. I love that it uses my running playlist but tells me what I need to do like a personal trainer. The journal is fun to look back on too, to see my progress. Now I am at the 45 min runs, I am working on increasing my pace.

LOVE THIS APP. I love this app, love the gps feature. I would and have recommended this app to my family and friends.

Love it.. Easy to use and works really well for any level of activity.

Thank-you.. This app changed my life. Metric would be nice, though.

Great app, week 5 now, just love it so far.. Perfect way to start running,I would have never thought I could go 5k strait I am only in week 5 and I think I can follow through to week 8. I probley would never have done this if it was'nt for the app.

Love It!. This is my second time following this app. It's been modified a little so I can't quite comment on the new version yet, but I'm finished week 4 and going strong! This app makes me feel accomplished and successful, which motivates me to keep going. So glad I found this app, I'd have never started running otherwise!

CANT play music on anything other then iphone 3.0!. doesn't specify in the description, but you CANNOT play music while using this app unless you're on an iphone. i'm on an itouch, which means i just wasted $2.99.

Amazing!!. Love this app!!! I always thought I couldn't run. I was wrong. This app can make a runner out of just about anybody!!

Love it!. I have always wanted to run... This App has helped me to get on my way! It's easy to use and I love that I can use my own playlists.

Great app all around. Extremely intuitive and useful with a fair amount of bells and whistles. They fixed some nagging bugs since my first review and it now works great. I now run about 7Km in 40 minutes (including warm up time). So I guess it does work huh?

Pretty good app. It would be 5 stars if it had apple watch integration

Love it!. Has helped build endurance starting up and after injury! Thanks Bluefin!

Love it!. Tried a couple of other ones & this is the best.

Helped me. This app is the main reason I can run an under 6min/km. It does a fantastic job or working up your endurance & slowly building up the distance as well. The stats are great to see & the graphs linking your goals to past runs is helpful with continually pushing yourself. I love this app. I'm getting the bridge to 10k too.

When it works. Great ap when it works. Has crashed on me every time it's opened.

Reasonable program. I have used the program twice to regain my endurance without injury after both my pregnancies and have completed three 5k races in the process.

Love it. Great app easy to use

Amazing. With this app I left my sedentary life and lost 30 lb and am running 30 minutes straight. Highly recommended.

Just what I was looking for!. Works very well. No complaints.

Genus!. Genus! Now that the flaws are fixed (lock screen) this app works like a gem. Suggestions, somewhere to track and record run data ie: weight chart, calories burned, heart rate...

Used to be awesome. This app used to work really well. Now the last 10 times I've used it, it only gives me the run/walk notifications when it feels like it. It screws up my run having to stop and restart all the time because it doesn't tell me when to run or walk like it's supposed to.

Great app!. Great app! Simple to use. I love that it plays my own music.

Great app. I'm on week 5 and love this app, every aspect of it is great except for the calories burned calculation in the journal section. It says I burn off way more calories than I actually am, if that could be fixed to be more accurate it'd be perfect.

Great app. Wish it would continue tracking if u keep going. But otherwise love the app!!!

Awesome 5 years ago.. Loved this and used it for years. Any plans to upgrade so it works with Apple health and Apple Watch? Or is there a newer app by Bluefin. This is by far THE best 5k training app but I would like it to integrate with my Apple devices.

Great App. I've always hated running but this app is keeping me motivated and sticking to it! Gentle reminders are nice when you've missed a day. Only 30 minutes each session so doesn't need a lot of time commitment.

iTouch. You can indeed add music to the playlist with an iTouch, it just seems they screwed up the code. You can select individual albums and select songs from them, but cannot choose from the entire song list, or playlists... which is tedious. I hope they fix this.

Keeps crashing. I love the app however since i installed iOS 6 it keeps crashing... Pretty much every time i want to use it. Very disappointing!

Great app. Great app easy to use

Overall great product, but could be much better.. For the price, it's a great product. To the developer: If there was a GPS enabled portion that would track my run and my route, I'd easily pay $15-20 for this APP. Generally speaking though, it's a great product. But who cares about all this Facebook functionality, however. Meh. An option to export HTML to an email that would put my run time, my distance (gathered by GPS), and overall progress into a nice little HTML page (or package) would be awesome - and much more flexible to upload to a blog, personal webpage, etc. At least that's a great idea for all us non-facebook types.

Great App!. This has been a solid choice for me from day one.

Sweet App, I will miss you!. Just finished Week 8, Day 3. I really looked forward to hearing the alerts: "WARM-up." "RUN!" Such an easy app to use. I loved being able to track my progress, and the intervals were wonderful for a beginner like me. What a boost to my confidence! I did my first "trial" 5K run in Week 7 . . .and got lost on the course (embarrassing) because everyone else was running so much faster and they left me behind . . .and I used my GPS to figure out how to get back on the course! Sometimes I still have to include some walking intervals in the "run" sections . . it would be nice to have the pace calculator be able to tell the difference, instead of just averaging the two together in the "run" section. I know I'm not getting a true pace count, and I guess I'll buy a different app for that. Would rather support you, though, because I think you'd do it well. Thank you, Couch to 5K! I wish you had an app for Couch to Taxes or Couch to Picture Hanging because I still have trouble with those.

Ruined this app with changes. I used to really like this app, and totally credit it for getting me back to the point of running 5ks. I eventually moved on to another app by a famous running coach because I wanted a systematic way to improve, but yesterday came back to use this app because I just wanted to run a simple 5k training run and I used to like how clean and easy the app was. But now there's a permanent button advertising their stretch app - I already have a better stretch app, I don't need to constantly see that button. And after my workout, I uploaded it to Facebook but made some mistakes in my notes, so I deleted the post and went back to share it again. This stupid app wouldn't let me! It kept telling me I had already shared that workout. Well no shirt Sherlock, I know I already shared it, but maybe let ME decide if I want to share it again. So now I've lost one record of that day, and can't get it back, because this dumb app thinks it's smarter than I am and knows what I want. I'm just going to delete it because now it's completely superfluous since I have a better app anyway.

Surprising and Satisfying. I am 37 years old and about 40 pounds overweight. I am not athletic and I have never been able to run without cramps and feeling like I need an inhaler (I am not asthmatic). But running is something I have always wished I could do. I expressed this to a friend and she told me about this app!!! I decided it was worth a try. Day 1 was the worst for me. I was huffing and puffing and even walked through one run cause I couldn't catch my breath. But I stuck with it and I'm glad I did cause day 2 was not as bad (and I didn't skip any runs!) and day 3 I didn't lose my breath hardly at all. The step up to week 2 was not near as bad as I feared and now I am stepping up to week 3. My goal is to run a 1/2 marathon in 9 months and I plan on using the B210K after this one. And I'm hoping there will be a B2 1/2 by the time I get there!! Once you unlock the screen (upper right) you can pause the workout: but it took me a bit to figure that out. Also, I will give this app 5 stars if an upgrade allows the GPS to track you mileage. To me, that is the only thing missing!! If I can do this: ANYone can! For $3, give it a try!

Honestly.... This is a very good, almost great app. I've never been a runner, actually that's an understatement-- I've always been an avowed anti-runner, but I just finished week four and I must say, I'm starting to get it. I've always been generally fit, but this app has pushed me harder than I thought I'd ever allow. I'm staying motivated and I'm even getting to the point of wanting to push myself even harder. My tush is higher, my waist is smaller, my thighs are toning up quite nicely, my posture would impress my mother, my stamina is increasing and my will power is stronger. So, developers; I, my jeans and my husband thank you very much. Now, if you would please add a gps that takes into account the elevations I have to contend with in the Texas Hill Country, I would be even more in love with you. And one more thing-- how in the heck do I get it to record calories burned? I've tried to set it several times without luck. But all in all? Excellent app!

Just What I Needed. I cannot rave enough about this app. It is EXACTLY what I was looking for and needed. I had tried some of the podcasts out there and while they were good, it wasn't easy running to someone else's music. Now I start my Nike+ app, pick my playlist, and start my C25K app and I'm off and running. I'm 40+ lbs. overweight but I have run in the past. It had been over a year since I really tried to run though when I got this app. I just finished week 5 and my first 20 minute nonstop run in I don't know how long. It felt like such a great accomplishment. The ques are perfect. No need to watch the time. You can adjust the volume for the ques and your music separately. I love the half way done que so I know when to turn around. It is very simple to navigate too. Many, many kudos to the app designer for taking a great regimen and making it even easier to stick with. I'm running my first 5K a local Turkey Trot on November 14th. Thanks to this app, I know I'll be ready.

Outstanding Program and Support. I rarely write reviews. In fact, this is my second. I have to tell you that this program is fantastic. I LOVE it. Never being a runner before, I am now running and feeling great doing it too! This is the best program out there if you want to get into a running routine. You are never too old either. I am 52. This program starts out slow and it is manageable. Now, about the support. I had a problem with this program on Easter. I shot an email to support thinking that I would receive a reply in a few days seeing that it was a holiday and all. Well let me tell you that I received a reply that day and from Alex himself. On a Sunday. On a Holiday. I was so impressed. Sorry I did not get this written sooner Alex, but I have been a bit busy...running! Thanks again for the speedy reply. Oh, by the way, the problem I had was not with the program at all. It was operator error. Silly me! Maria

thankful. I have recently finished the c25k program and it has got me off the couch and running. The combination of the schedule and the results tracking is a powerful incentive to get moving. The c25k program is unquestionably a 5 star program. I believe anyone can have success with it as long as they take their time and keep after it. I run this program simultaneously with the Nike+ GPS app because I am competing in some challenges on Nike+. Although seeing my results in the C25K app is nice, the Nike+ web portal is really nice to see my results over time. I expect to continue to do that even when the challenges are over. My one (minor) complaint about this app is that you don't get the voice notifications in the background. I know there has to be a way for it to work, as I have a couple of apps that do custom audio notifications (one is Nike+ which can announce mileage progress even when it is not in the foreground.). If I forget to put the C2K app in the foreground when I finish messing with settings, I will miss the audio cues.

5 stars until last update. When I wrote my last review I was only half way through the program. I forgot to write a follow up after I completed the program. This app really helped me. There are some weeks towards when u start getting towards the end of the program that are definitely steep based on previous week but u just gotta trek on through and not give up. Now I run the full 3 miles (30 minutes straight without walking) without any issues and love it. I never thought I would be able to jog but I do 4-6 days a week and have lost 76 pounds doing it. Never felt better. I can run a 5k whenever I want and will be downloading the bridge to 10k app soon so I can start running the 6+ miles. This one is the best app of them all and the GPS is definitely a must have add on to track everything

Love C25K!. I got this app after I had my son to lose pregnancy weight and help me get some stamina back after not having done cardio for 9 months. It eases you in to running slowly so it doesn't even feel difficult. Totally worth the money. The program is just challenging enough so that you push yourself a little more each time but not too much so you feel overwhelmed. The key is keeping it fun. After week 6, I starting running 30+ minutes without stopping and have kept it up. I don't feel winded at all. I know I would not have had the energy to make my own running program and stick to it. I probably would have tried to push myself too hard too soon and gotten discouraged. Thank you, C25K!

Never ran, and was losing weight, started with this and love it.. Okay, so I'm a bit of a nut, but I had lost about 40 lbs and started running on the first day of a vacation! I know, not the best idea, but this app really helped coach me along, and allows the nike+ app to run in the background, giving you all the cues you need to run and walk. I wouldn't have made it without this app! I just ran my first 5k race, enjoyed it, and now I'm moving on to the bridge to 10k and with proper diet, I lost another 35 lbs. I'm getting lighter, and faster, and now I'm running longer. Learning to run and love it instead of running and dreading it. I will say that the female voice is a nice thought, she sounds a little to whispy for my taste. The big thing is to set your nike run and start it before opening the c25k and then start. Kinda consumes some battery, but I figure it's well worth it to be in shape and enjoy my health. You gotta love this app. There may be others out there, but this is the real deal.

No complaints, a couple of suggestions. First off, no complaints. Great motivator. I don't much care for running for the sake of running. It's a means to an end for me. I had to pick a goal and a 5K in October is my goal, I am finding this C25K app very user friendly, easy to read/hear and a great way to stay on track on log the miles needed to reach my goal. I believe keeping it simple is great, but I have some suggestions: GPS/Mileage As an added motivator add GPS to this app to allow users to see how far they are Running/Walking. An enhancement to this would be to distinguish the Run distance from the Walk distance. Provide a graph of each and a graph of the total progress during the program. I think it would be a great motivator to show people that they are actually doing 5K in week 1 assuming they are truly doing a brisk walk and a pretty moderate run. Even for those slower starter most are probably covering 2 miles from day 1. Playlist Allow the user to create multiple playlist. It would be nice to have different tempo music during the phases. I higher tempo during the run and slower during the walk/warmup/cooldown. Integration Integrate with common popular fitness tracking sites, like DailyBurn. This would eliminate some redundancy in using C25K and then logging the workout into other apps/sites.

A special, powerful app. I have downloaded hundreds of apps for my iPhone and iPad. I've loved some, hated some, and been completely indifferent about dozens of them. This app is one of those very simple concept apps that can truly change lives, and it is in the process of changing this non-runner's life. The app cuts up the daunting task of running a 5k into manageable bits over a reasonable amount of time. It cues you when to run and walk, allows you to do it all to your own music, lets you know how much farther you have in a given run, and encourages you along the way. It provides tracking tools to let you journal about your run and keep you accountable. It may seem a bit over dramatic, but to a non-runner who was convinced that I wasn't capable of finding a fitness activity to improve my health and self-confidence, this little app opened a door for me and made fitness seem possible. I'm scheduled to run my first 5k in about a month. I'm not scared, and know I'll be prepared. Thank you for this app. It's going to make me a happier and healthier dad and help me set a good example for my 5 year old son!

GREAT BEGINNER RUNNING APP. I was not a runner but wanted to begin. This was a great app to slowly pick up the pace and get to a 5K. I'm almost there and have to say this app gets lots of the credit. Play your own music, listen to the prompts of run, walk, halfway, cooldown. Loved that it told me "halfway" so I can turn around and headback home without worrying about distance at this point. Great app, never failed me, those that are complaining about the sleep button or closing the app, they all close down and stop if you shut it down. Set your music, start the app and don't stop. Texts and calls come in but if I don't reply or answer, the app keeps going. If you are thinking about doing it, DO IT. I also would love a 10K from these guys, I want this style app over the other one in the itunes store. I'd pay for it again.

Great App! Very useful and well-designed.. I have been using this app for six weeks, and it has become one of my favorite applications. It works flawlessly. I really like the ability to set the program to play my favorite songs or podcasts while I run. The program gives you gentle reminders so you know when you have 5, 3, 2, or 1 minute left to run. Another feature that is useful is the reminder when you are half way. I just listen to my podcasts and run. When I reach the half way reminder, I turn around. I get home just as the program is finishing. I have written to Alex and Tanya twice, with suggestions, and each time they have responded within an hour. They are very responsive and friendly.

love it & can recommend it. I was never a runner. Now I love running and I can not wait to go out again - thanks to this app. I started running with this app a few weeks ago. I am currently in week 8 and able to run 28 min without walking or stopping. Before I was barely able to run 30 sec. I can highly recommend this app for everybody who wants to start running. It is do-able! If you think the next week is to hard then just repeat the week you are in right now. I did that with week 7 and after one more week it was easy to go on to week 8. The app is easy to use. After finishing the run you can add how your run was (smilies), the weather and the surface you were running on. You also can add some notes. I like this because I can add more details about my runs. Once I could not find a function of the app and I emailed Alex over the website. Within 24 hours I had an helpful answer and I found out that I just overlooked it. Thanks for the fast reply! @ gethimrich (won't play podcasts) If you have an iPhone/iPod that can do multitasking - did you try to listen to the podcast from the iPod app in the background while C25K is running in the front? I am not sure if it would work but it is worth a try.

I want the whole world to know about this app. For me, this app -- and the Cool Runnings Couch to 5k program, upon which the app is based -- worked. This is an amazing turn of events for me. I have tried several times to become a runner, and always failed. I thought that some people just weren't built to be runners. I don't believe that anymore. By the time I finished the program, I could run a full 30 minutes. I was still pretty slow, so it took me a few weeks of extending that on my own before I was able to run a true 5K distance, but that wasn't hard. I then trained for my first 5K race, got a time I was proud of, then downloaded the Couch to 10K app from this programmer. I'm getting a lot out of that program, too. When I started this, I was out of shape and I struggled to run for 2 minutes. The first weeks of the program were a big challenge for me. I've since lost 30 pounds and regularly run 4.5 miles. I'm also now one of those annoying people who believes that just about everyone can and should be a runner. I truly wish I had learned about this years ago.

Simply, it just works.. Like many that have used this app before, back ini January I was weighing the heaviest in my life and I had reached that breaking point where I wanted a change. I hadn't run since high school, but this app got me from barely able to run 2 minutes with out dying for breath to running 5K runs in May. Yeah, it took me a little longer than the 4 month program because I strayed here and there, but it got me there in the end. The program works and the features in the app are great. I liked how easy it was to program music in, or just work with your iPod app. I wasn't too keen on the social media stuff, as in I didn't want to post my progress, but those features are easily disabled. Good app that they continue to update fairly regularly.

Exactly what I needed. This app has been exactly what I needed to help with my weight loss efforts (45 lbs lost over a year) and my attempt to learn to run. It is perfect for those who would like to train for fitness or distance running in a very realistic, doable, and healthy way. I have been overweight most of my life, and after I was able to loose 30lbs by dieting, I decided it was time to add regular exercise. I have always wanted to learn to run, but I have never been able to run more than a few hundred feet. This app made it possible for me to run 4.5 miles this morning. Even I can't believe I was able to do this in just 8 weeks ... If I can do it, anyone can! After finishing my last run with this app today I will be downloading the Bridge to 10k app as soon as I am finished here and starting on that tomorrow morning. If you are serious about wanting to learn to run and embark on a healthy path, get this up and get on with it ... You will surprise even yourself with the results, I did.

C25K made a runner out of me!. I have never been a runner! When I say that, I mean it! I was the kid in high school finishing last during laps in gym class. I was the one doubled over because my side hurt. I have always detested running! I am a 38 year old mother of 2 and for the last several years I have been overweight and out of shape. About six months ago, I took the bull by the horns and began losing weight. I wasn't exercising though. So in September, I downloaded this app on a whim. A friend mentioned it in passing and I thought I'd give it a shot. Wow! This app is fantastic! I haven't gotten a single side ache since starting. I have followed the plan exactly. I just finished week 5, day 1. I can't say I will actually go out and run a 5k, but I'm running more than I'm walking now and I feel fantastic! I'm more toned, my legs are strong, my clothes fit better. And I don't hate the running like I used to. I even kinda look forward to doing it! I give C25K all the credit for that!

Got me off the couch!. I tried several of the apps that are based on the Couch-to-5k principle, and this was by far the easiest to use. You are not pestered by adds to upgrade or having to click through screens that direct you to the optional subscriptions. The interface is clean and simple. As an older runner whose eyesight isn't great for reading any more, I appreciated that the very few number of buttons to click in order to start and log a workout. Best of all, the program works. I started off as a 56-year-old man who could walk 3 miles at 18 minutes a mile with no problem, but I hadn't run in more than 20 years. Within 6 weeks of using this program, I could comfortably run 3 miles in 36 minutes. I "graduated" after that and have continued to improve my time ever since. I ran a 5k race on New Year's Day, less than 2 months after I started using this app, and I finished in the middle of the pack for people my age! I'm now training for a half-marathon, thanks to the confidence that this app gave me.

Love, love, love this app!. I love this app! I am a 42yo mom with 2 young kids. I was never a runner, never really cared for it but I always thought running would be great because all you need is a good pair of sneakers. Now I love running. I love that I can workout outside on beautiful sunny days. When I started, I'm on the 9th week, I thought I was going to DIE! Seriously, my neighborhood has hills and it was quite the challenge but then it got easier and then it got fun. I could not believe it when I ran on the treadmill for 50 mins! Then the next week I hit the running/biking trail and did 60 mins. And I like it - a lot! So now I run at least 4-5 days per week for at least a half hour at a time and if I have more time I also do yoga or hop on my stationary bike. It has definitely has given me the motivation to being more physically fit. My body has gotten stronger and I feel much better ( and yes I have lost weight too). This is absolutely worth the $2.99. Just get it and get off the couch and starting running.

 Flawless. So I am currently about to wrap Week 6 which a 25 minute run... I am not a runner, I've never been a runner, I've never dreamed of being a runner yet this app has taken me to a point in my life that I never dreamed. I've been out of shape for at least 10 years and this app has helped me to start changing that. You will WANT to work out more, eat in moderation and stick with the program once you beat the excuses and first 3.5 weeks of this program. It appears users are docking s because the app doesn't 'motivate' or 'encourage' them... If you have great upbeat music you should be good to go.... It helps to have a friend to start the program with you for the support. Kick the excuses and start Week 1 Day 1 now

Fantastic!!. I'm on week 5 and love this app! Let me just say I am not a runner at all (out of shape, 50+ lbs overweight), but I made it one of my 2012 resolutions and this app is helping to make it happen! It's great that I can use my own music and then just have the cues of when to run or walk. I know i just have to keep going until that guy says, "Walk," so I don't think about how much longer, don't have to worry about keeping track. And the social media component is good motivation. Being able to share on Facebook and Twitter with one click means lots of family and friends cheering me on. My only complaint is that sometimes it is reluctant to start, like it gets stuck, and the pace counter malfunctions sometimes, but overall, great! After I finish this program, I want to try the 10K app!

The non-athlete's app!. I am so grateful for this app! I was always that kid that was lost in gym and couldn't throw a ball to save her life. I've joined gyms and let my memberships lapse because I really never cared much for exercise. Now at age 44 I tried to start running (had to do something about the extra 25 lbs I'm carrying around) and downloaded this app. In week 1 I had to fight for every inch of my 90 seconds, breathlessly begging for "Alison" to tell me it was over, but I loved how the app tracked calories burned, walk and run rates, and mapped my route. The best part is I can post my progress to facebook, which is invaluable because I have accumulate some cheerleaders who encourage me every step of the way. I have just completed week 7 where I'm running for 25 minutes - an unimaginable personal accomplishment! I highly recommend this app for any pure beginner. Believe me no one can be more of a pure beginner than I was 7 weeks ago. I'm so psyched about the results I see (not so much in weight loss but in overall changes in body shape and wellness) that I've already downloaded B210k (bridge to 10k) which I will start as soon as I'm done with this program, designed to continue the trajectory I'm on. Thanks so much to the developers of this app!

It's a must have if you want to do a 5K!. A few months ago, I couldn't run a minute let alone a mile. When I heard about the Couch to 5K program, my initial goal wasn't even to do a 5K (I didn't even know how far a 5K was!), it was just to see how far I could go. Since I MUST listen to music during workouts, I needed something tell me when I had run for a certain amount of time instead of relying on a stopwatch and/or treadmill. The C25K app gave me the ability to wokout to my own music and also telling me when to stop and start. It breaks down the intervals in a way that helps you stick with it. Much to my amazement, I completed the program yesterday and will be running my first 5K at the end of the month. There is NO WAY I could have done that without the help of this app. It is a Godsend and well worth the investment!

Having all sorts of issues lately. This is one of my most used apps and I truly love it...when it works. And it has worked fantastic for me for over a year, until a few weeks ago. I'm having many issues, not getting the run/walk prompts (despite doing everything in the help menu) and the prompt volume is screwy and the music volume is a little screwy. The other day it locked up on me and I had to reboot my phone in the middle of a workout! That's never happened before and I hope it doesn't again. I also had a weird experience where I didn't get any notifications until the cool down, then it gave me all 20 prompts within a minute, one after the other. It seems like there's a lot of bugs all of a sudden. Developers, I hope you read this stuff and come out with an update soon! I need this app to work right again. I don't want to delete and reinstall and lose my journal.

Amazing app!. I've always wanted to get back into shape after shattering my knee cap five years ago, but I couldn't find the motivation. Every time I would try to run, I would run for a quarter-half a mile and get tired, quit, and not run again for a while because I didn't see any progress and would be sore for a few days. I got this app, and now I can run, and not be too sore to go on and do other things that require me to be on my feet, while knowing it will work me in to shape slowly. I've never been so determined to get into shape! Also, the audio cues are amazing. It makes it so perfect and easy. If you could implement an option for certain motivating phrases like "just a little more!" and "you can do it, keep it up!", along with others, it would make it even easier, and would be completely amazing!! Nice app! I am definitely using the Bridge to 10K as soon as I am done with this one.

Getting more active. I am SO thankful for this app! I just started week 3 today. I don't have a goal of running a 5k, but I am using it as a way to get more active, and it's just what I needed. I shocked myself by feeling like I wanted to run more when today's ended! The various features, such as setting a playlist, locking the screen, showing the time remaining for each part of the run, are all great. I could wish there were the option of TWO playlists, one for walking and one for running - I learned to turn it down some because my running feet weren't keeping time the way my walking feet were and it was throwing me off a little the first time out! Two more realistic suggestions: Turn up the voice a bit in relation to the music, please. If I don't want to be blasted with music, I end up relying on the my own keeping track of the "ding" sounds because I can't make out whether he's saying "walk" or "run." And I'd rather see km/hour than min/km when I run outside with the GPS, as I still have a hard time pacing myself (hey I'm new at this!) I do know from the days I use a treadmill how fast is a sustainable run and a good walk in km/h, but I can't handle the math in my head to convert it when I'm focused on breathing steadily and not giving in to my body's demands to stop running early! Overall great app. I don't often pay for apps but this one's more than worth it.

Tough but good. I have to admit being out of shape for the last decade or so. On my latest birthday, I decided to do something about it. My friend was using this app, so I thought I'd try it. Price was reasonable, so I did. It was hard for me at first, and some days are harder than others, but i'm on my third week. I plan to try a 5K in october. What do I like? You can repeat a day, or a week, or start over if you need to. (I aggravated an old knee injury and had to take a week off. I'm redoing week 3--or as my friend says, taking a victory lap.) I also like that you can control the music from within the app. Nice touch. You can add whatever music you desire from your library--you don't have to add it all. I like the messages that pop up, too. Especially the half way note. If that isn't your cup of tea, you can turn it off and just rely on the vibration to tell you when to walk and run. The best part is the tie ins to Twitter and Facebook. Why? It isn't that I like to brag. It keeps me going. My runner friends give me positive feedback when they they see the notes pop up. THAT'S what has kept me from quitting. All in all, a hearty thumbs up from a non-runner on his way to being a tad bit healthier. Give it a try and use the social media connections and I bet you'll stick with it, too.

Impressed. I was skeptical at first, however I am very impressed with this app. It was easy to set up and easy to operate. The ability to change the songs without interrupting the program is great. I am documenting my progress in the notes portion of my phone and posting to my facebook account for some additional accountability. I document on my phone after each run, time, distance, etc. so I can 'see' the progress over time. I use my treadmill when the weather is not conducive to being outside. I have looked at other programs across the board and have no reason to swap what I'm doing. I'm a mom and a grandma, and as the first of the year rolled around it was time for a lifestly change. This has kept me motivated and I really look forward to the workouts. I will be moving on to the next app when I complete this as I start on the 8k program next. I highly recommend this app.

Good App. I have had this app for a while now but just started using it. Honestly I did not start with C25K even though that was the app I bought, I did not use it untill the switch to ease into 5K. I do not know the diffrence. I do know that I still tell people about C25K. I am really enjoying this app and program. There are a few things I would like to see added. The ability to share on G+ in addition to Facebook and twitter. Also the ability to export the maps and share with google earth. Difrent colors would be great so I could over lay them and see my progress as I run the same route most everyday and I will only have 3 - 4 routes total. Nice app, dont understand the switch from C25K to ease into 5K as it would be easyer for people to find. Can any one answere that?

Pre-update was better in some ways.. I have been using the app for a few months, and finally installed the update. I had a lot of trouble getting it to function in the same way as the older version. It wouldn't speak to tell me when to run/walk/cooldown, though the voice alert feature was turned on and the app was in the foreground. Still was doing it today. I am thinking of deleting it to do a reinstall, but I don't want to lose my progress/log details. I love the direction this app provides, and love the GPS feature that enables you to track your mileage and speed. It has transformed me! I coupled this with yoga on the days I didn't run. So far I've gotten back into shape rather quickly. I've never really been a fan of distance running (much better sprinter), but this helping me with endurance big time.

It's incredible!. I am almost 40, overweight, and right now can't fit a gym membership into my lifestyle. I downloaded the C25K app and started running. I had never run before. Well, one time i downloaded a C25K podcast and attempted it. I hated the podcast music, couldnt hear the cues to change between walking & running. Never wanted to do a second day. This app is awesome, I love that I can listen to my own music, it's easy to update the music in the app, I have control of the voice cues in the app and their volume. It's great! I couldn't run down my driveway before I started, but just this morning, I did W6D2... I was feeling so good that I ran straight through the 5 minute cool down, too! I am losing weight, gaining confidence, and I am actually running! I never thought I could! I have already downloaded the Bridge to 10K app from Bluefin, and am looking forward to running in my first 5K in October! I can honestly say I like running now!

Great program for new runners and for couch potatoes!. I hated running for most of my life, but needed a new challenge since I try to set goals every year. Last year was to do a 5K. I was overweight, out-of-shape, former smoking couch potato that hated the gym. This program worked for me. The interval training had me prepared for my first 5k in 9 weeks. You can have your own iTunes playlist on in the background (I don't use the music functionality of the program) and the voice will tell you when to walk, run, walk, run at timed intervals. Just do what you're told and you'll be fine! You can also keep a journal of your progress and map of your routes. I'm using the program again as I was sedentary over the winter. One wish: a desktop program with which I could sync the data. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.

Best app ever, no lie.. It's hard to be a hater of this app. With determination, motivation and grit you can really go from the couch to (about a) 5k run. The app is set up to be completed in nine weeks, however because you can repeat days if you are still struggling it may take longer. Don't let this discourage you. It took me about 12 weeks to complete. The interface is simple and easy to use. I love the journaling option that allows you to track your distance and weight and a few other things. I love that it takes that information and puts it in a nice graph form. The program will track all of your runs and keep them in a log. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it keeps that log even if you have to restart your iPod/iPhone. I found that the music shuffling was sometimes tricky as I think you also have to have your iPod set to shuffle in order to get the music in the app to shuffle. I'm not sure though. Overall, I love this app and I've reccomended it to all of my friends!

Good app overall but needs screen lock and volume is screwy. I'm up to Week 6 in the C25K app. (Full disclosure: this is my first time up to week 6, but probably my fifth time up to at least week 2.) Overall I'm reasonably happy with it; it works. However, I really don't like how easy it is to accidentally pause the program, like when putting your iPhone in an arm band (other apps lock the screen in some way); that the app reduces your music's maximum volume, so some headphones (like my Motorolas with the sweated-out volume control) aren't loud enough; and recently there seems to be an issue where music will occasionally go to max volume on its own and blow my ears out. (I suppose that could be an iOS bug.) I like this app, I like the guys *doing* this app, but I think they're neglecting some basics; for example they added GPS functionality but reduced my max volume. There are other "Couch to 5 K" programs out there; definitely check out reviews on those apps as well. Overall this app will definitely do the job for you, and I'm looking forward hopefully to some back-to-basics functionality improvements in the near future.

Like it, but found a bug. I downloaded this app 4 weeks ago. I chose this one based on its high rating and so far I've been pleased with my choice. The cues are easy to hear and understand and the screens are easy to use. I have run into a few issues however. First, the start swipe doesn't always respond easily. And, after I added music to the app (I have the iPhone 3G), I began experiencing problems with the workout running continuously. I don't always want the music and if I try to turn it off, it pauses the workout or makes it "stutter". Also, even though there are dual controls for the app volume and the music volume, if you turn the music volume all the way down (the only way I could figure out how to not have music), it also turned the volume on the cues all the way down. Overall, I like the app, but I'm going to have to remove the music to make it work correctly. I don't always want music at 5:30am, so being able to just turn it off for a particular workout would be a nice feature.

Get Ready For It. I am a 60-year-old woman who had never run except to chase the dog and years ago the kids! I weighed 230 lbs and was miserable! 18 months ago I decided I had to get control of my life and began a journey that started with a healthy veggie and fiber-rich diet. I lost about 50 lbs and was at a stand still. Then my daughter challenged me to start the Couch 25K program and five months later, I ran my first ever 5K!!! I snagged 2nd place in my age category and had a 9:57 mile! Oh, and I've lost another 25 lbs! People don't even recognize me sometimes! So if you're thinking about using this awesome program - "get ready for it" - and what I mean by "it" is SUCCESS! And just a tip - music is a big motivator when I run. The line "get ready for it" is from "Fly" by rianna and nicki - one of my favs! Good luck to all - happy running!

One of my most favorite apps one and mostly recommended. This is such a great app, everyone that gets the chance to get this i tell them! It doesn't drain my battery, it is very helpful in keeping me on track and motivating. i have never run a day in my life, but with this app it was baby steps that i could handle. The only thing that i would change for the next update would be the social aspect of it. when posting to facebook, i would like for it to list how many miles i completed, how long it took me and maybe a couple other stats as an option:) the imapmyrun app has that option when posting to social netoworks, and in return i get great feedback/motivation from it. Thanks for such a great app!

Life Changing App!!!. I bought this app as a 52-year-old fat man who didn't have time to walk as much as it takes to lose weight. I needed something that gave the same bang in less time. I never imagined it would be running. That was something that I just didn't do EVER! I saw the app recommended on one of my app finding apps and was intrigued with the idea that you could take someone like me and have them running a 5K in only eight weeks. I researched more and looked over the whole C25K concept and thought that it might be something I could do. Why not pay $2.99 and give it a try? The rest is history. I am almost at the last training session (graduation-8-3). Using this app made the entire process a breeze. I just put in my earphones, started the app, and did what the voice told me. The amazing thing is that no matter how long the runs got, they were no harder than that first 60 second one on day one. The app paces you beautifully, and suddenly you can run 30 non-stop minutes almost effortlessly. I have already downloaded Bridge 2 10K. Why stop now?

Just I've needed. I've never been good at running, since I'm a short and stocky kind of guy, but I used to be in the Army Infantry and was able to do what I needed to do because we ran all the time. After injuring my back and ankles and getting out of the Army my ability to do any kind of cardio diminished to pitiful levels. I've since done a lot of rehabilitation and I'm able to workout again with minimal worry of reinjuring myself. This app has really helped me to recommit myself to lose the weight I've gained and to regain and even exceed my cardio ability from before. I use this app on a stationary bike (just turn the gps off) because I'm still heavy and my ankles are not as strong as I'd like and it works great. I also love that it is easy to go back to a previous workout day since they progressively get harder. If you are not feeling as strong one day or if you have slacked and missed a couple of workouts you can just select an earlier workout and progress as you feel able. Get this app!! And use it!!!

C25K got me off the couch. I have been walking for about a year and have managed to lose about 25 pounds and have another 25 to go. This app was just what I needed. I am on week 4 right now and am feeling great. I have never been a runner and am starting from scratch. I knew Oprah lost all her weight about ten years ago doing a couch to 5 K approach and she was big when she started so I could do it. I love that it plays over my music and that I can head out the door and when it says " you are half way done" I just turn around. It is easy and works flawlessly. I also am not sure about the facebook thing. I'm not sure I want everyone on my facebook page t know exactly how many seconds I ran and walked - just did week 4 day 1 would be plenty.

People with crash / stop issues, try this.... I found that performance is hugely improved on my iPod Touch if I unload everything else from memory (double-press home, then delete apps from the recently used list) before running this app. Mentioned on the developer's web site but probably needs to be more prominent. I was about to give up because I couldn't get the app to complete a session without stalling repeatedly, has run without a hitch since then. (Why four stars? I love the app's design, but a few weeks in I'm not a fan of the Couch to 5K program. The running time jump from week 3 to week 4 is too great, I think. I have joint issues and needed to find something with a more gradual build up, although I prefer this app's interface to the one I am using.)

Troubled app. The idea behind this app is good and functionally, during the run, it works fine and has improved my endurance. I would prefer to be able to tailor the workout to take advantage of other philosophies instead of a "one size fits all", but that's not why this has dropped two stars. It's buggy and occasionally doesn't start properly. Heaven forbid that you hit a key twice or touch a key when fumbling around after your run or your stats will be messed up. Stats are what you're working against and without them you never know whether you're getting better, how much better or possibly worse. So, for me it works halfway. I wrote to support and asked for a feature to prevent an accidental disruption once the workout is started; but no assurance that would change. If you have tiny fingers or know that you won't accidentally press a key, this app may be just what you need. It's not for me.

Solid App. I really enjoy using this app, though I rather dislike running. I am not so much training for a marathon as I am trying to just get in better shape overall. If you are not a runner, or even athletic, this app is great to get you started. It has very clear and easy to follow instructions, very user friendly interface, and an amazing GPS feature that is very accurate. One thing though, for anyone thinking this app teaches you to run, that isn't accurate. This app helps you to interval train and gain stamina and endurance. As I am learning (the hard way) there is a science to running and avoiding the pains that come with it. My biggest obstacle so far has been extremely bad shin splints. All in all, this app is a 5/5. It's super easy for anyone to use, and very handy to have.

Life Changing App!. I never thought I could be a runner. I always envied them running down my street and at the track. After an embarassing run trying to keep up with some friends, I came across this program and decided to give this a go. Not only did I become instantly addicted, but I ran my first 5K ever thanks to it! It honestly changed my life. I'm so full of energy and confidence, I'm completely different from the introverted person I used to be. At first it was hard, but as the weeks peeled away so did that little voice in my head telling me "I can't". Now I am one of those runners I envied so much. This is works great on my iPod touch. I select my playlist, and let the app do all the timing and notifying for me. $2.99 is worth changing your life for the better - I promise you can't go wrong. Thank you C25K!!!

3.5 Stars. Would be nice if you could skip ahead instead of having to do it all in order. Have been having to play each workout today while my phone's been charging so I can start on Week 3 tomorrow which is where I was before downloading this app. It's taking over 3 hours to do this... I could be outside doing my workout right now if we could just skip ahead!! Otherwise, good application. I was doing C25K off a sheet I printed from the Internet. The audio cues are convenient and worth $2-$3 (instead of having to use a stop watch, or do the program on a treadmill... Really annoying having to slow down and increase the speed so frequently just to track time!!). I'll consider buying the next app (C28K) if there's a sale on it. Should get a discount for purchasing both!! :-)

Awesome, when it works. I'm starting week three with this app, and I really like the hand-holding. I'm right on track with returning to the 5k circuit in just 8 more weeks. Playing music in the app is super, linking to Facebook is a great feature, and I love being able to write in the journal to record my energy levels. However, this morning, I discovered that all my data was erased -- from the first run to yesterday's run. I've emailed C25k support and hope to find out if the data has been recorded somewhere off-site. If not, it's no big deal and I'll move on with the program, but it's kind of a bummer that the info can be dumped without my intervention. When I feel it's a more reliable app, I'll give it another star. Here's to seeing how the next few weeks go! (I had to drop it down a quarter-star because during another run the app recorded me going 6.2 miles when I only went on a 2.2 mile route. I'd normally let that slide, but I paid a few extra in-app quarters to access the GPS feature.) Edit: I received support very quickly, and after looking over the app again, 99% of the data is still there. Phew!

helping me accomplish my dream. I have always had a re-occuring dream about running...yet I have NEVER been able to realize that dream...until now. I have NEVER stuck with any exercise program let alone a running program, but this app is helping me make it all possible. Before I felt like I was guessing what was going to help me get in shape, but this app tells me what to do. Even on weeks when I didn't think i could accomplish what it wanted me to, I DID. I am excited for the next run day (usually lol) and I dont give up out of frustration! It's simply amazing. I am so grateful to have found this program!! Keep at it. Sure I want to lose weight/size, I need to lose about 30 lbs or 3 pant sizes, but it's not about the weight for me anymore, it's about keeping up with the program...and succeeding. I have never been more proud of myself!

Out of shape Nana. I started this program in September. Initially I had a real problem getting off the couch to exercise. This program has been wonderful and if it can get a 63 year old out of shape, overweight Nana off the couch then it WORKS! I have completed the program but have now decided to go back several weeks to do more interval training to help with stamina and endurance. I plan on running a 5K with my daughter in March. She started running with this program last and is now running 5Ks and will run a relay from Miami to Key West this week. I have never had any problems with this App and when I had a question I got an immediate response--customer service is great! Thank you for this program-- I feel better than I ever have in my life!!!
