PROFESSIONAL HELP, PERSONALIZED FOR YOU
Facing obstacles alone can be daunting – receiving support and guidance from a professional therapist has been shown to make huge, positive changes to help you overcome personal challenges. When you sign up we’ll match you to an available therapist based on your needs, preferences, and location. Different therapists have different approaches and areas of expertise so we’ll work with you to find the right person who can achieve the best results for you.

LICENSED AND TRAINED THERAPISTS
There are over 30,000 therapists on BetterHelp, each with at least 3 years and 1,000 hours of hands-on experience. They are licensed, trained, experienced, and accredited psychologists (Ph.D./PsyD), marriage and family therapists (MFT), clinical social workers (LCSW), licensed professional therapists (LPC), or similar credentials.

All of our therapists have a Master’s Degree or a Doctorate Degree in their respective fields. They have been qualified and certified by their state professional board and have completed the necessary education, exams, training, and practice.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
After filling out our questionnaire, you will be matched with a licensed therapist based on your needs, preferences, and location. You and your therapist will get your own “therapy room” where you can message your therapist at any time, from any internet-connected device, wherever you are. You can also schedule a weekly session to speak live with your therapist over video or phone.

You can write or talk about yourself, the things going on in your life, ask questions, and discuss the challenges you’re facing and your therapist will provide feedback, insights, and guidance. This ongoing one-on-one dialogue is the foundation of your work with your therapist.

Together you’ll work towards making a positive change in your life, accomplishing your goals, and overcoming your problems.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The cost of therapy through BetterHelp ranges from $70 to $100 per week (billed every 4 weeks) but may be higher based on factors like your location, preferences, and therapist availability. Unlike traditional in-office therapy which can cost over $150 for a single session, your BetterHelp membership includes unlimited text, video, audio messaging as well as weekly live sessions. The subscription is billed and renewed every 4 weeks and includes both the use of the secured site and the therapy service itself. You can cancel your membership at any time for any reason.

BetterHelp - Therapy Comments & Reviews 2026

In the worst and hardest of times. I genuinely wonder sometimes if I’m in an actual comedy/tragedy sitcom with the way life has been going. I know everyone has their own issues to deal w/ & we feel utterly alone at times, but I really hit a low this year. I’ve lost almost everything over the course of the last 9/10 months & was just getting by on fumes. If I hadn’t found this therapist…I just had no one. She knows how to keep me grounded, how & when to stop my tangents & redirect my thoughts & point of view when I cannot do it for myself. It’s not just nice but necessary to have someone in your corner. Someone who can see things in another light & remind you what’s important and that you deserve happiness because everyone does if they’re genuinely just trying to be & do good. Life is really hard, harder for some than others. I’m still running in fumes, I still have like $100 to my name & a heavy heart, but I see more clearly what I have going for me and what I can actually control- and that is WEALTH. Therapy is good for w wry individual and if you’re sitting here reading this novel of a review- I’d say you’re ready to sign up lol if you don’t find the right fit right off the bat, you’ll know it- switch and find the right person & it will help you. Please trust me on this- what have you got to lose??

Become a better you.. I’ve had a rough go at life, and have broken down over the years. I’ve been down some dark roads, which led me into feeling helpless and alone. I’ve hit a point in my life, where I felt the one thing that kept me going was actually hurting me. I was defeated. I had no hope. But after finding out about BetterHelp, and getting told by so many people to talk to someone, I decided that this was the time for me. At BetterHelp, I found an amazing therapist, and realized I wasn’t crazy, I was just in need of some professional advice. After talking with my therapist, I can gladly recommend this outlet, not just as an outlet - but as an answer. Talking to a licensed professional, isn’t just an ad or a joke to me anymore. It’s become a viable option, just as much as it’s become the best place for me to learn how to become a better me. It’s helped me greatly, and if you’re reading this wondering if it’s worth the money, then it can definitely help you too, to become a better you. Now I’m not saying that I’m the best me that I can be. I’m just saying that I’m better. Better with the help, than I was without it. So do yourself a favor and cease the day, take a few minutes to try it out, give it and you a chance. Then you can seize it.

Incredible helpful, would like to see some app improvements.. I really like the flexibility of this service, especially as someone with a constantly changing schedule. I appreciate how easy it is to find a therapist and switch as needed. I also enjoy the different sessions types and being able to message my therapist whenever, so helpful. I’d love to see some improvements made to the platform. Adding things like dark mode and standard emoji support would be great. Also, it would be quite helpful to book out further in advance if scheduling is a challenge. I also like that you can pay for an extra weekly session, but it makes scheduling the following week more challenging as it delays access to the therapist’s schedule for the following week. My therapist is great about working with me, but having a system that is more automated for future scheduling would be helpful. For example, if I’d like to add an extra session, maybe it needs to be approved by the therapist before it’s confirmed. This method could also work for booking out future weeks as well. That way the Therapist is still in control of their booking and can work to ensure they’re not overbooked and unable to support other sessions. Also, please fix the video call layout on iPad, the preview window is cut off when the device is in landscape. Adding a mute button would also be really helpful.

Dynamic Platform with Caring Counselor. I have been using Better Help for a month and I am loving it, and finding it highly helpful. Make no mistake, it is not without the hard work involved in healing, I’ve seen other comments say that it’s like ‘counseling lite,’ which I highly disagree with. This has been some of the most healthfully challenging counseling work I’ve done, and I see myself making progress while feeling fully supported. The platform does make it much easier to connect and communicate effectively. My counselor is easily the best matched counselor I’ve ever had, I feel that I’m learning so much from them and with them. The fact you can communicate in different ways, both scheduled and not, with your counselor has been so beneficial. I feel it helps to paint a best picture of where I’m coming from - I’ll send my counselor a journal I wrote or a meme that resonates deeply and that helps me to process things but also gives us an understanding of what to lean into in our scheduled sessions. The fact you can match a counselor with your identity and wants and needs is amazing - as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and also being gender fluid, I’ve never felt my counselors understood me or cared about that aspect, but as soon as I met my Better Help counselor (also in the community) on our video chat, I felt understood and safe, like I could immediately open up. My only critique is that Better Help could be more cost effective - it’s rather expensive as a student.

More helpful than you may realize.. This app/website has been a wonderful discovery. I discovered it thanks to the YouTuber Gabbie Hanna, and have been thankful ever since. My life has been one mental/emotional issue after the next, but I never actually got any real ‘help’, at least nothing that worked with me and for me. BetterHelp has definitely been the most properly advertised name I know, because they make it so easy to start and even though it’s not cheap, it’s definitely more affordable than traditional therapy. Thankfully I was eligible for some financial assistance, which they offer through their site! I’m a person that’s always had issue speaking up for myself and my own problems, which has always made it difficult to reach out, but now, I can reach out to my therapist (who can actually be swapped out at any time by the click of the button if you end up with someone that doesn’t work for you and you have too much anxiety to just tell the therapist what’s wrong). She has been so helpful and understanding in ways I haven’t experienced before, and has been providing some solutions that are working for me! Again, this is all within the first month of using this, and I can’t wait to see who I become with continued support and some BetterHelp!

Great app... but... I love using this app honestly, when I first used it I was skeptical because counseling wasn’t something that helped for me but the person I was first matched with didn’t work and then the person that came next she was perfect fit. She helped me out a lot, more than she may realize. I like that I have the option to set a appointment for live chat and or video chat. Being that I live with family and a lot of dogs who tend to bark a lot lol, this came in handy. The only issue for me is the pricing. I am a returning college student with many obligations to pay for (the adulthood stuff) who can barley make payments especially right now due to the pandemic. It’s super unfortunate that I’ve needed to result to ending my subscription TWICE maybe even three times now that I’m thinking about it because of needing more income in order to have access. they have offered financial aid for three months at a time which don’t get me wrong has HELPED tremendously but my suggestion is allowing us to do lower payments weekly and not having it be so high, maybe even the option to pay per minute on the chats or something unsure just throwing stuff out here. I’ve been struggling and wanting to get back into speaking with my counselor but have no way to afford it even with financial aid provided which is so unfortunate and I know I am not the only one going through these things right now— hoping that I can eventually come back and have the same counselor available.

Helpful and responsive. Four weeks in and I’ve had a very positive experience with BetterHelp. Creating the account was straightforward. They requested payment to register, and offered financial aid and different plans. I started with the monthly billing with a 10% off financial aid. I was paired with a counselor within hours, who sent me a message to initiate the process. When I didn’t respond in two days, frankly because I kind of lost the momentum, she checked in gently, which promoted me to respond. And it’s been great so far! I might have gotten lucky to be paired with a counselor who works great with me, and there’s always the option to switch counselors. I write daily journal in the app and rarely send any message. She usually reacts to my journal once a day, which from my perspective is adequate. During our first video chat session, she’s also set the expectation that she may only be able to respond once a day, especially during this new normal with the pandemic - I thought that was fair. I’ve always had great experience with the BetterHelp customer service team, which communicates via email. I was surprised that they responded to my emails to quickly over a weekend. Overall, I’ve had great experience with BetterHelp and intend to keep the subscription for as long as possible.

Simply amazing. I have been using better help for over a year now. First let me say that my therapist is the best one I’ve ever had. I’ve been seeing therapist since I was 14 years of age. I’ve had a therapist who forced me to exercise/calorie restriction at the age of 14. I’ve had another who didn’t see my mothers abuse. I’ve had others who just didn’t want to work with someone with my severity of issues. At some point I stopped going to therapy because it felt like rejection. It felt like no one could ever help me. I had seen ads about BetterHelp. I always put it off. However, my life began to flash before my eyes and I had enough. So I started BetterHelp when I was 21 years old. She is a black woman which is always such a rarity because trauma within the black community looks vastly different than trauma from other communities. Within the last year I’ve experienced great financial challenges and still am. I was almost homeless, lost my job, and my ESA had an emergency. I reached out to them because of these financial issues and they were able to provide me financial aid. Which has been really beneficial since I now get to continue therapy. I still am jobless and am trying to survive the best I can. However, with my therapist help I’ve still remained resilient. My therapist has been able to help me recognize a lot of abuse/trauma and has given me the tools to do better. She holds me accountable whilst also being kind and supportive. Thank you BetterHelp!

Never Too Late!. “BetterHelp” is a private, secure, & easy to use application for people both new or have had prior therapeutic experiences. Most people beginning therapy feel a little uneasy as it can be hard to seek help and feel comfortable sharing what issues one may be going through. It helps that the cost for treatment is more than reasonable compared to how pricey it can be when going to in-person therapists that charge ridiculous costs making it harder for people to seek help. I recommend that anyone even thinking or on edge about seeking treatment & bettering themselves to at least try out the “weekly plan”. If you have friends you can try together & help eachother out by each getting free weeks! Remember it is unrealistic to wake up one day & have all your troubles go away.. it takes work & being consistent. I believe “BetterHelp” can help you, like myself, heal & find happiness+inner peace in becoming the best person you always could be. Thank you “BetterHelp”, thank you, Farhat(my therapist), & thank you fellow readers for taking the time to read my review… -Jimi Hendrix “when the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world shall know peace.” A quote that has moved me & that I shall live by

Better Help Talk Therapy. I did a lot of research before signing up for this program. I had my first phone session today with my therapist, and I couldn't be more pleased. In this day and age, going to visit a therapist in person sometimes can be very hard to schedule. Better Help allows me to be home, or wherever my phone is to have a session. It's very convenient!! The app also has more than just traditional talk therapy... There is a place to do an online journal (which can be private or you can share with your therapist), and there are group sessions based on many different "issues" someone might face. There is a monthly fee for this service - just like you would have to pay for traditional therapy. I don't think that it's too terrible... But you expect to pay for good or services you receive. I'm very pleased with Better Help. Their therapists are all certified, everything you'd want to know about their credentials is located in their biography. If you aren't happy with the one they assign you, you can change. It's a good program. I'm very excited to see where this journey is going to take me!! Better Help is so far a huge help to me!!! You'll get out of it what you put in. If you need therapy, go ahead and take the plunge!!! You won't regret it!!!

Extremely helpful and convenient. I was a little skeptical at first. My friend used better help and said he needed to change therapists a few times before he found one he liked, but I was just at such a desperate point in my life that I needed something. And since I travel for work a lot and I’m low-income, the convenience of BetterHelp (and all the podcasts ads that recommend it) seemed like a quick and easy solution. I was matched with Daphne and immediately felt relief. She has been overwhelmingly understanding, kind, and considerate. The fact that I can text her between sessions about what’s going on in my life means we don’t have the waste 15 minutes of our sessions playing catch-up before delving into everything is such a game-changing experience in therapy. I was so happy and she was the first therapist I matched with. Also, the classes and group therapy options are amazing. I’d never been in group before and having that chance to discuss my problems with others having the same issues was so interesting and new. And there’s so many varieties of groups to join and no big commitment to stay in a group that I can’t see every week or maybe I’m not finding as much benefit from is so stress free. I feel like I sound like a paid sponsor, but truly, I can’t believe something like this exists and how beneficial its been to me. I love Daphne so so so much.

Superb experience both personally and professionally. An unprecedented business challenge appeared unexpectedly at the beginning of the year, creating huge time demands, and great pressure on me as the owner-a bona fide crisis management situation. Besides the specific business challenges, the situation was also affecting my sleep, stress level, etc. so I decided to give BetterHelp a shot. After answering all of the initial interview questions, Better Help matched me up with a licensed counselor who also happens to have a strong background in business. in the past, I had great experiences with a business coach, and the counselor I was assigned has proven to be pretty much a perfect match for my needs. Although he is always encouraging me to be more communicative, especially via texts, I am finding that the weekly video sessions have been providing all I need. In the past month or so, he has been able to give very specific, implementable advice, ranging from physical steps I could take to reduce my stress to Long – term, rethinking of my professional, goals and objectives. I am extremely happy with BetterHelp, with the counselor that was suggested to me, and I intend to remain a client indefinitely as the benefits are proving to be far more expensive than the business mess that first drove me to explore their services.

Life changing decision to say “yes” to BetterHelp. I have chosen to be in therapy here and there over the years, dealing with this or that, and finally a couple years ago really delving into a past trauma. Not until arriving at BetterHelp did I see this life-changing result of therapy. The platform is brilliant. The messaging space is incredibly helpful in this modern world. The ease of a video call once a week for 45min is something anyone can do. Even as a mother of two young children, I can ask for this and it can happen. There is a way. For anyone looking for help in any form, small or large, say “yes” for yourself and just show up. Keep showing up and amazing things will unfold for you and your life will be better. Your problems and challenges will get better. They will soften; they will lessen. I promise. Just keep showing up, for you. The rest will follow. If there is any suggestion I do have is find someone who just clicks with you, where it feels trusting and safe. It is an amazing space to enter every week. I thank my incredible therapist, Catherine Stormont, for always showing up for me as I continue to show up for myself. The “trust in the process” is here in this wonderful BetterHelp environment and I am very grateful for it. Very very grateful.

So glad I tried this. I've been a little too depressed to get out of my house, so this was a perfect way to start back in therapy. My first match wasn't a good fit at all, but after mustering up the courage to switch therapists, I got to pick one I thought fit me better. So far, I am loving her. She is everything I wanted her to be. I love that there are journal entries with the options to share them with your therapist. I love that you can message them at anytime! I like to send my thoughts as I'm struggling with them and then she gets back to me when she has the time, or saves it for the next session. This helps me get my feelings out in the moment without me just forgetting to bring it up in the next session. I'm a verbal processor so it also helps me in the moment so I don't hold it all in. My only complaint is that the app/website are pretty glitchy, but it's nothing I can't handle. I just wish it were a little better performing. Definitely worth a shot! Plus, I can decide if I want a chat, call, or video session which is super useful for days that I wasn't feeling like talking or getting ready! I communicate better by typing sometimes so I like that I have the option, and to keep it engaging, they have a live chat option so I can see what she's typing while waiting for her to send the message.

I’m finally living again. Hello out there people that need someone that genuine cares about your problems and well being. Someone that you can talk to when you don’t have anyone else or can’t trust anyone else. I’ve been with BetterHelp for just a little while now and I can honestly say that is the best decision that I have ever made. My therapist has been the best help for me just at the time I needed help so badly. I couldn’t talk to friends or family members about my issues but I can open up 100% my therapist from BetterHelp. I was in very dark place but not anymore. I get excited and count the days when I can talk to her again. I’ve never been able to open up before, I have been able to even talk to family now. They are very grateful for this program. I recommend you to give it a try, reach out and get what you need. A beautiful and better life. Don’t give up, just ask and you will receive exactly what you need. Get it off your chest and you will have an amazing transformation. I was a tough nut to crack, no more. I am so thankful to BetterHelp for helping me and settling me up with this amazing therapist, friend. Go for it, don’t be sad , angry or whatever may be troubling you. I can actually get up in the morning now with energy and contentment. I’m not about to quit now, there is a life for me now. Best decision ever.

Helpful!. I love the journal feature and I found a great therapist. BetterHelp’s features for what you need from a therapist and the therapist finding you was helpful and I think it perfectly matched me. The only thing is that the cost is not always necessarily “less” than other options you may have (that may also be online therapy at least). They do, however also have financial aid options! In terms of being able to write a journal, sending messages and having as many call/video sessions as you’d like in a month (according to your and your therapist’s availability), yes it is more affordable. However, if you only have one video call a month, and journals + messaging isn’t as effective for you, it isn’t less affordable than some of the other options out there. That is kind of sad for me since I really love my therapist so far and would love to stay, and I imagine if you get attached to your therapist and then have to move on for financial reasons it can be hard. If, however, you use the journals/messaging often, and/or you try to have two or three sessions with your therapist, it does balance out the cost better if you’re on a budget! Overall I’ve been having a good experience with BetterHelp and my therapist on here!

Great app, great service, but it’s all or nothing. I joined because I HAD to talk to someone and wasn’t finding anyone accessible in my city. Set up and joining was easy. I was able to start speaking with someone within 24 hours; maybe even 12. It’s been great having a therapist (of your choice) respond to my journal entries (if you choose), sessions in any form (video, phone, even text), worksheets to solidify what was discussed in therapy sessions. My therapist is respectful, listens, highly professional and I loved that she wanted to get my background before starting therapy; I really like her. My only complaint is the price of the subscription. Having unlimited access to all of these things and more is nice, $300 month is steep for me and most of society. I’m not going to be able to continue after this first month. They do offer financial aid, but still too expensive for my budget. I don’t necessarily believe their service is cheaper (about the same in my region) than what insurance could offer as they claim. I find unlimited access to a therapist is excessive, especially since my schedule only allows for sessions once a week. I feel like I’m being forced to pay for time/resources that aren’t being used. I wish they offered another “limited option” at a lower price point or accepted insurance (or allowed for reimbursement). I don’t like the all or nothing component of the subscription.

There’s never been a better time for BetterHelp. I have known for a long time that talking to a therapist or counselor is something that I needed in my life but I never knew where to start and worried that I wouldn’t be able to find the right one. I have a bad habit of not prioritizing self care but between the pandemic, the civil unrest in our country and my own work and family dynamics, I was at a breaking point and knew it would help to talk to someone. That’s when I made the decision to sign up for BetterHelp. After all, how could it hurt? In a matter of hours, I had already been matched with a therapist based on my specific needs. With just a few simple prompts, I began to unload my worries and frustrations and paint a picture of my life for her so that she could get to know me. Just the process of doing so was cathartic. And to have someone bear witness to your pain, who can validate what you feel and help you see how all the pieces are connected, has helped me better understand myself and learn how to move forward in a positive way. At a time when the world is feeling more disconnected than ever, having a licensed professional therapist at your fingertips is quite literally a life saver. If you’re struggling, know that you are not alone. Take the first step to toward healing. You deserve it.

Misled Reviews. Before I decided to purchase the membership, I saw a lot of misleading reviews that concerned me about the quality of the app. Yes, it may be true about the trial membership not getting enough responses. You get what you ask for. Why would they want to waste their time on something you got for free? After purchasing and putting in some detail what I wanted to talk about, I got a match fairly quickly and the counselor was in my state. If you’re not putting in the needed detail, it will take longer for a match. They want to put you with someone who’s experience matches your needs. My counselor asked me a series of questions to start off with so she knows what I was going through. It lifted a huge weight off my chest after telling her everything. Then the questions stopped and she was able to respond with a summary. I was pleased it didn’t take her long to write back. I would highly recommend this app to anyone if you’re nervous about explaining sensitive topics in person, but you’re more open online. I was happy I could just message her when I needed to. Especially the journal which I was impressed with, I could load up negative thoughts and share it with her to find a better way of handling it.

DON’T PUT IT OFF ANY LONGER, START NOW!!!. The hardest thing for many people is to get started. I put off finding a counselor for months until I finally joined. Right away I was glad I did. They make the process very easy. After you are paired with a counselor, which in my case took less than a day, you can begin having a text discussion in a secure chat where you can also send audible messages or file attachments and indicate whether or not what you are sending is Urgent. From there you can make your first appointment for an actual session. The sessions can be done through a text chat, audio only or video and are all live through their app or website. There’s a journal section where rotating topics are provided and you can choose whether or not to share your journal entry with your counselor. As for your counselor, you can switch easily within the app or online at anytime. They provide a written bio and reviews for your counselor that you can view before even having a conversation with them. The counselor that was assigned to me is great. I read her bio and reviews ahead of time so I knew what to expect and it’s been very accurate so far. Do yourself a favor and start working on yourself today!

Great way to connect with help, but with limitations. I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. I think this platform is a great way to connect with therapists in a relatively stress-free way. I did have to see two therapists because the first one wasn’t a good match, no one‘s fault, just not a good personality fit. The therapist I have now is absolutely wonderful and I’m so glad I kept trying, because after the first I was exhausted, and the thought of having to go through all that again with someone new was almost too much. But Jessica Owen is an absolute Godsend. The reason why this doesn’t get five stars from me is because of the video platform itself. BetterHelp is a company that is centered around telehealth communications, their video platform better be top-notch… but it’s not. The only device I have available to me right now during these sessions is my phone, which would be fine if only I could set my phone down (in landscape mode). But there is no landscape mode… so I either have to deal with a sideways image (my therapist too), or physically hold my phone up right (because it has to be plugged in). This is super cumbersome and distracting. Eventually I’ll get a new computer, and I guess this won’t be an issue, but for now it’s a big headache. And for a company that deals only in virtual appointments, you would think they’d have this figured it out…

Medical and CPTSD. I cherish this service for helping me process the trauma of childhood abuse and sorting out my turbulent emotions following two liver transplants in six months. The counseling and coaching are allowing me to learn from my experiences and to think about them in newer, healthier ways. Now my emotions are starting to make sense and I am beginning to realize that how I feel doesn’t have to yield to someone else’s opinion about how they think I ought to feel. I never had a voice, now I’m finding my own voice. I live in a small town where mental health care and seeking care is gossiped about, considered weakness, and generally shamed. I understand now that it’s that shaming that kept me from being open about being abused. I finally have the tools and help that I needed for years but couldn’t access without being alienated, this allows me to get help in private any time I want, from where ever I’m at! I also qualified for an income based discount and I am able to pay for my physical AND mental needs. This is the best investment I’ve ever made. If you’re reading this, don’t repeat my mistakes, don’t wait. You deserve the help and the healing that I have found here. Healing is hard, but living without healing is harder.

BetterHelp. I had my first appointment today with my therapist. Having worked with many through the years, I feel like I can give a proper review. The way the system is set up is very impressive. And much appreciated. One of the great challenges with therapy in a clinician's office is that it's just never organized. And it's difficult to know if you're making progress or not. But with BetterHelp, there is structure, connection ( text/phone/video) and resources that makes so much difference. Sitting in the lobby of your psychiatrist office with 10 other people never felt good. My therapist started the session on time kept going in a very meaningful way. Suffering from both anxiety and depression led me to BetterHelp.... I couldn't get an appointment in my own town in the next six months! Imagine seeking help and learning that you won't be getting any until next summer led me to finally contact BetterHelp. I had everything worked out and in my first session in a matter of days. It's a journey, but I feel confident that I have the best behavioral health solution that I have ever had. Don't be like me and wait two years looking at Facebook ads. It's legit. And it is well named.

So much better than in-person sessions. **UPDATE** Since Covid hit, I have had financial struggles and was worried I would have to start cutting things out from my budget. I reached out to BetterHelp and immediately was able to get some financial aid that I desperately needed. Couldn’t be more grateful for what this app brings to my life and how much of a difference it has made in the months I’ve been using it. Thank you so much to the creators of this, it really has made a difference like no other resource. For what you get from what you pay, this is a steal compared to in-person therapy. I can work with my therapist any day I need to, and sessions are very easy to schedule around my own needs. My therapist Karen is amazing—I have had lots of trouble in the past finding a therapist that wanted to really work with me, rather than just nod absently as I talked, but Karen truly helps me actively recover as she dedicates meaningful time and energy into our sessions and beyond. Therapy is not just a once a week thing where I talk about my problems and then forget about them until my next session, this app makes therapy a truly hands-on experience that you work on daily. I’ve never been more relieved to finally find the help I’ve been looking for, without feeling regret looking at insane weekly bills.

Great service so far!. Only been using it for about two going in three weeks and i really like it. How understanding my therapist seems to be to me so far, i feel comfortable telling her if i agree or dont agree with something or if i feel like something would/ working for me. I also like the customization aspect of choosing the right therapist for me. So many options, and if you find you dont like the therapist you can also change. Lastly with the few tools they have on betterhelp they are actually helpful (coming from a person who finds it extremely hard to find coping mechanism and ways to help myself. )I definitely recommend giving it a chance even if its just for a month. Its nice to have a therapist where i feel like i can message her whenever and would except a response within hours, 1 day at the max! Appointments a slightly easier to get and u can get them more often throught better help vs a hmo or other therapist offices, especially in this climate where its such a not really a back up of support and appointment availability’s at this time. This is a very honest review and i hope this helps at-least one person to even give the service a try

Just try it!. BetterHelp has helped me unload so many of my feelings and unlock pieces of myself that I’ve been holding in for years. I always prided myself on being an emotionally mature person but over the years I started locking up more and more of my day-to-day emotions. I found myself always wanting to be the listening ear but never letting others in to be my listening ear. I felt like the only way to be a strong, valuable person was to be the “put-together” person and it left me unable to be vulnerable with the people I love dearly. Through this app I’ve learned how sharing my feelings opens up a whole new level with the people in my life and it has me feeling stronger after each session. I truly underestimated how much our emotional health can impact our daily lives. I never believed therapy would have the impact it has. I can say confidently that prioritizing my emotional health has impacted all the other avenues of my life positively. I feel improved physically and mentally in a remarkable way. So if you are struggling with something specific in your life, or just wanting a space to let things out, I highly recommend using the app. You really won’t regret it.

Don’t Put It Off ! 💜. BetterHelp is probably one of the best things I decided to do for myself this past year. For years I didn’t attend therapy because I was worried about the cost, and worried about it not helping me due to trauma I already had about going in the first place (aka non consensual forced therapy) - I just wanted to leave an honest review that I really would recommend this app to anyone on the fence about therapy. I looooove its features, just like some other reviewers said I love that I can schedule sessions with my therapist as well as contact them whenever I may need to. The app also offers group sessions with different counselors in a wide variety of topics suited for each person and the classes change daily/weekly! It even has a built in journal which I’ve found to be really helpful. I have carpal tunnel so sometimes writing in a journal with pen and paper actually gets exhausting and painful and I can’t get my whole thoughts out, so the built in journal on the app actually really helps me and I’m able to share my thoughts with my therapist in just one easy click if I want to! If you are able to afford it, I highly recommend the app. It has been helping me a lot, my counselor was a perfect fit I feel as if they really pay attention to what you would like to work on. Happy Healing! (:

BetterHelp App. I find the BetterHelp app to be very user friendly. It is packed with helpful resources and is very easy to navigate. The layout is very clean and straight forward and makes sense. I also like the helpful email and text reminders for upcoming appointments and suggestions for daily journal writings. Although the suggestions are not typically subjects that I would write about or are relative to my work with my therapist, I do like the reminders. Having options to communicate with my therapist via phone, text or video is also a big plus for me. The best part of the app that I found to be so impressive so far is that everything works. All the tabs, the links, texting and video connections. I’ve had zero issues thus far while using the app. Most of all. I LOVE working with the therapist that BetterHelp matched me up with. And, it was the first match. Lastly. I tried other online therapy services. For what I am looking for, both in the service as well as the therapist, BetterHelp far outshines the other apps and services that I tried. I’m very happy with my choice and would recommend BetterHelp to anyone who is looking for a quality therapist backed up by a quality app and service. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

BetterHelp is the Best thing I’ve done for myself!. This app and the service that goes with it is a life-changer! If you’ve ever felt you needed therapy but couldn’t get to it either because of time restraints, convenience issues, monetary concerns, or even just lack of access, then you owe to yourself to check out BetterHelp. This app solves all those problems. It’s affordable, secure and private, convenient, and accessible. The quality of the therapy I’m getting is first rate—trust me, I’ve been to enough different types of therapists and therapies with my illness, I can tell quality and competence when I see it. This service has both. I live in a small, rural town and could not consistently get access to qualified, competent mental health care on a consistent basis. I was really struggling to cope. This service solved those issues and literally changed my life. The excellent therapist I have (Gerry W.) has been a real positive source of support, encouragement, guidance—but more than that, he’s taught me to cope with my illness and learn to accommodate and adapt so I can more successfully function in the real world. If you need or want excellent mental health counseling, this service/app is my number one recommended place to get it—no matter where you live. Try it, you will be glad you did.

Well worth the cost. The benefits I’m getting from this service are well worth the costs. The key is to finding the right therapist. Great thing is you can change therapists at any time with the push if a button in the app. It took me changing therapists once to find the right person for me and I love her. You also have access to unlimited groups sessions on a range of all topics running all throughout the day everyday. It’s a great way to supplement your weekly live 30 min solo sessions. The app is great, simple, and intuitive. It’s seamless across devices whether that be joining a session on your laptop or doing it from your car via the mobile app. Customer service is excellent. They’re fast to respond. I had a few hiccups at the start of service but they resolved it and gave me extra weeks to compensate. I love it so much that I will be signing up for couples counseling next. I remember trying to find local, in office therapy, and they all were either not accepting new patients or booked 6 months out. Why bother with that when you have the convenience of BetterHelp to work for your schedule and like I mentioned the ability to change therapist’s at any time with the push of a button is HUGE! This modern therapy platform is the way to go!

Pleasantly Surprised. This app has been great for me since I live abroad but want to talk to a counselor in English. My counselor calls me (instead of the other way around), so I don’t have to use any of the international minutes on my phone plan. The option to chat online is also useful when other people are around and I don’t want them to overhear me talking on the phone. I got to pick my preferences when I signed up (topics the counselor has experience in, if I wanted a woman, a gay counselor, etc). Apparently some people have changed counselors because they didn’t click with the first person they were assigned, but the person I was assigned is perfect. I feel like my counselor understands me and gives me great advice without just asking “how does that make you feel” like they do in movies. I’ve had bad experiences with in-person counseling in the past, so it’s a relief that this woman makes me feel normal and talks to me like a (wise) friend. She checks in with me a couple times during the week over chat too just to see how I’m doing. I really recommend this service, and it’s cheaper than in-person counseling too. If you’re not sure about it, just try it for a month and see what you think. You can always cancel it if you feel like it doesn’t help you (or if you think you’ve already gotten what you need from it in a short time). It’s been quite helpful for me though.

Only wish I’d joined sooner. I’d been putting off finding a therapist because I was sifting through local recommendations and not finding a good match. Then I joined BetterHelp, answered a few questions, and was paired with a fantastic therapist within minutes. That’s the most important part and BetterHelp nailed it. The platform itself is well-designed and strong at facilitating communication with your therapist. We’ve shared links, worksheets, documents and more. It’s also super-convenient having the secure chat and video sessions happen right on the page (for desktop/laptop) or right in the app (for phone). It can run a bit much if you’re used to twice-a-month sessions but I’ve found (that and my therapist has encouraged) once-a-week sessions are both better for my mental health and make me feel like I’m getting the most bang for my buck. You can even do more than that, plus chat anytime, if you feel you need it. For those who may be new to cognitive behavioral therapy, know that it can be daunting and you may not connect with your first therapist. BetterHelp makes it easy to get a new one if that’s the case—and you should never feel guilty about moving on. A good therapist will understand and want you with someone who is a better fit, too. With that said, the more you can come into this experience with an open mind and a healing spirit, the more you’ll get out of it. Just focus on your mental health and BetterHelp will be there to help with the rest.

Highly recommend. I went back and forth for a while debating whether to use BetterHelp. Like any good, real, professional therapy, it’s a hefty cost. I unfortunately waited until I was total rock bottom before signing up. I have been so lucky to be matched with the perfect therapist. My original therapist “match” wasn’t a good fit, but changing was super easy and I’m really glad I did. Traditional in person therapy is definitely more expensive and also hits on the social nerves—I don’t want to drive all the way to a therapist and then socialize in person. I’ve requested only chatting with my therapist through the messenger and she’s catered to that for me! Others have mentioned—this is a LOT of work emotionally and mentally. But I’m starting to like myself so much more than I ever have in my life. I’m learning how to beat back those thoughts that turn into feelings and ultimately are so self-destructive. If you’re considering BetterHelp and have the financial means to do it, stop hesitating and go for it! If you’re struggling financially, they do have financial aid options or discounts based on “where you heard about BetterHelp”. You can get so much out of this app if you’re willing to put the work in.

Feeling Better. I started using BetterHelp a few weeks ago. I was really in a rough place and I felt like I didn’t have time to take care of myself. I felt like I didn’t have time or the money to talk to anybody at a rate that I could afford. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to connect with a therapist that would be able to understand me and where I was coming from. BetterHelp allowed me to go through a list of therapists where I could see their background and their specialties and get a sense for who I would be talking to before I had even a first conversation. The communication started off as text messaging which was more comfortable for being able to share what was going on with me without feeling nervous to share certain issues I was having. Then I was able to book a video session with my therapist to discuss over video chat what was happening and to discuss my progress. I was able to learn new techniques to help better my own thinking and behaving and recognize what was causing me so much anguish. I was able to do it affordably and in my own time. When I needed a lot of communication, I could have it - and when I needed time to reflect, I had space as well. This is my long winded way of saying that I highly recommend BetterHelp to anyone who needs an affordable and convenient way to connect with a therapist. It saved my life and my relationships with my loved ones. Thank you D and thank you BetterHelp.

Pleasantly Surprised. I was pretty apprehensive when I finally decided to try online therapy. I’ve done in-person therapy for 15 years and wasn’t sure I’d be able to connect with my therapist without being able to meet the person face to face. But I can’t afford to see my usual therapist because of my insurance coverage (or lack there of) for mental health services. So I did some research on which app was best and decided on BetterHelp. They have been very supportive, financially and emotionally, from the very beginning. My counselor made it very easy to talk to her. She’s very attentive, professional and makes me feel safe and heard. I never feel like a burden, even though I have constant access to her. So far I have only done text and phone calls. I may try video sessions in the future. It’s just so nice and comforting to have an outlet for all these thoughts and feelings I haven’t had a place to put for so long. BetterHelp is an amazing app that I am so grateful to have found. Even if I get better insurance in the future, I will likely stick with this form of therapy. It’s convenient - I can schedule my own appointments from the app and don’t have to worry about getting there on time or traveling far. I can do it all from the comfort of my home, or wherever I want. The price is affordable and my biggest worry about not being able to connect was a totally wrong. I feel very connected. They named this company right. I am getting Better Help!

IF I COULD GIVE THIS 0 STARS I WOULD. Let me start off by saying, I was at a very low place in my life. My friend had recommended me to enroll in this therapy during the month of DECEMBER. She said it was super convenient because you could receive help in the comfort of your home, and at your convenience. At first I was skeptical, because I did notice it was pretty expensive. I convinced myself to invest in my health and proceeded to make my first payment and fill out my bio. After doing this, I noticed that it would take 3 days to connect me to a therapist. I then was able to see the session time compared with the price. I then decided to reach out to cancel the service. Let me make it clear that I’m not upset about the PRODUCT itself , it was my own decision to cancel. I am extremely disappointed in the SERVICE. It is currently March 14th, and it’s sad to say that after checking my email today… from 2 days after signing up for this I have sent over 20 emails trying to get my issue resolved. They have charged me over $1,000 for a service that I didn’t use. There is no phone number to call, only an automatic email that sends you in circles. I don’t understand how this is acceptable. THIS IS NOT “BETTER HELP” THIS IS “GOOD LUCK GETTING HELP, YOU NEVER WILL”. It’s sad that I had to report this fraud to my bank, and that my bank has to help me because no one could with “better help”. Think twice before you sign up!!! DO BETTER, “better help”!!!!!!!!!

Personalized and professional. I love how personalized the matching process is. You complete a questionnaire about what you’re going to therapy for and what you’re looking for in a therapist. You can request a therapist who’s a woman, black, a member of the lgbtq community, Christian. If you specifically wants someone who specializes in substance abuse, sexual assault, grief. You can put that all in your assessment when you make your account. They also take your income into consideration when deciding your price per session. I’m only paying $85 a session which is amazing when you take into consideration how much you get. You get the live session once a week, there’s live group seminars about specific topics like “dealing with childhood trauma” They have like 40 group seminars a week that you can attend. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this app And you might be thinking the therapists on here can’t be that good. I’m matched with a therapist whose the best and most experienced therapist I’ve ever had. And if you don’t like your therapist you can just request a new one, it’s that easy Best therapist I’ve ever had, easiest therapy process I’ve ever had, and the least amount I’ve ever paid for a session. Couldn’t be happier 10/10 lol

So helpful - definitely life changing.. This is a WONDERFUL app. Especially during these unprecedented times, it’s great to have help in your own home at a better price, a more private setting, and with additional resources. Better Help offers the therapy I need at a fraction of a cost. My in person therapist would cost $150-$200 out of insurance for a 50 minute session. However, this is almost the price for the whole month of BH for FOUR 50-minute sessions PLUS unlimited messages in between sessions....AMAZING! In addition, BH offers various ‘groupinars’ that are totally confidential and cover anxiety, grief, relationship guidance, etc. with different therapists. In addition, my therapist gives me weekly worksheets to support continual improvement outside of our sessions. She sends these electronic worksheets through our private portal and I can work on them whenever I need to. I can also submit them to her to review. The app also has a virtual journal that can be shared with your therapist as well. Lastly, you can do phone or video so you don’t need to see your therapist or vice versa if you don’t want to. Overall, this is a great option. I know there are other services out there, but from my understanding they only allow you to message your therapist 5 times or less in between sessions rather than unlimited. Although BH is the only app I’ve tried, I feel it’s superior than the others available.

I’m ready for therapy. This is my first experience going to therapy/seeing a counselor. I’ve never looked down on the idea and was so happy for people that made the decision to do it. I put it off for a long time, because I “wasn’t ready to talk about my real feelings,” and “my problems are not that bad compared to others.” However, Since I wasn’t enjoying my life, I should have just forced myself to sign up right then. I am now to a place where I know I have the ability to make my life better and having a therapist easily available really helps me follow through with my small promises towards creating happiness. I love the convenience of this app. Making appointments is so easy. I love the journal section of this app - you have a thought, just type it in. No need to over think it. It also allows you to share sections with your therapist if it’s easier for you to write your thoughts and feelings out instead of verbally explain them. If you don’t connect with your therapist you can quickly and easily get matched with a new one. I have been recommending it to everyone that seems intrigued by the idea of therapy. If you’re reading this, it’s because you want to start feeling better about your life and you’re putting it off by getting lost in reviews. Take the first step and just sign up. If it really doesn’t work for you then you just cancel payment and delete it. At least you took the first step. ❤️

Pricey for low quality care. I don’t know if I just got one crazy outlier of a therapist but my therapist seemed completely unqualified and spit up all the trauma back into my face when I didn’t comply with her orders anymore such as take antipsychotics and take antidepressants and go to the hospital and do IOP and do this and that. She would ask inappropriate sexual questions, seemed to not understand why I was in therapy, do the bare minimum and repeat the same thing she did every single week and would constantly threaten to call ambulances and cops. It seems like this platform is good for crazy therapists like her who can jump from platform to platform and not have their name tarnished because they don’t answer to superiors they’re just freelance and can bounce any time they get a bad review. There’s a reason they’re not in therapy offices in town. This is $60 a week for the cheapest price and the therapist can just take a week or two off and not notify you and you still have to pay the $60 each week that you’re subscribed to this plan. They can also just fire you at any moment to and not give you any referrals and no notice. I feel like BetterHelp gets such high reviews because they pay people to write good things about them. I don’t know guys, I definitely wouldn’t recommend this app. You’re much better off finding a cheap therapist through your insurance, they’re probably much much much more qualified than they would be here.

Life changing. I genuinely believe this has helped so much. I’ve been waiting to write a review until I could see my own progress throughout everything and taking everything my therapist has said into consideration. I was a little skeptical at first, I decided to stick with the first person I came into contact with that had experience in fields that I struggled in. We have been following a program throughout our time together that works on a different technique each week, along with ones we’ve already talked about, and how it’s helped. I’ve been open minded to every suggestion, and following through with it. A lot of my problems, my whole life it seems, stemmed from the one thing we’ve been working on. I didn’t even realize it, and it has definitely changed the way I react to a situation, the prevention of it, the aftercare… etc. Very accommodating towards my schedule, the price isn’t outrageous for the help I’ve been receiving, if anything it’s better because you can choose your rates. Tbh though I would’ve paid anything to be a better person and feel better about myself. This app has helped me to do that and find someone that I can talk to that can actually help me. I have zero complaints and the work put in shows how much it has changed my daily life. I couldn’t be more grateful!

Saved my sanity saved my well being. Couldn’t ask for a better platform for therapy. When I discovered BetterHelp, I was relieved that I could have a therapy session from the comfort of my own home, or sitting in a forest or at the beach. I could write to my therapist anytime and she would get back to me in a timely manner, responding hang in there amongst other supportive words. I have yet to sit in on a seminar, having the option to learn about specific things regarding mental health and learning tools to help assist in problems I’m faced with is a huge help. I found that if I was at work and having challenges I would go to the staff bathroom and sit on my phone and message my therapist when I was feeling overwhelmed and emotionally couldn’t focus. It has really been a great aid for me, and even now after 3-5 years on and off using it I’ve still had the same therapist. I’m 37 now and I recently deactivated my therapy again to help assist in some situations I’m currently facing. I would recommend this to anyone to try it. You can video, phone or message with your therapist and it is affordable and if you need financial aid they will discount your cost. This app and my therapist have saved me. Thank you!!!

This is one tech / app that advances humans so far !!. It soothes my soul to find that some of this digital bombardment we all wade thru . Made counseling and therapy so available . Imo one of the most important services every human being needs in their lives along the way . The personal insight one can gain is life changing . I got lucky and mesh well with my first therapist. But I Love knowing if I didn’t . It’s literally nothing to try another and another if one needs . I found that to be extremely important in my therapist. For me to gain the best outcome the mesh has to be on point . Setting up the first appointment was easier than I anticipated. Of course at first I procrastinated. This service made the first contact to my first session comfortable and stress free . Scheduling is also quick and painless . I’m a guy so I just do that right away . That works best for me . I feel like anyone who needs some help opening doors to your mind . This is it !! You can do the session from anywhere u like . No driving tho . But if you like sitting in your car . No problem do your session in the car . I love it !! As hard as therapy can be to even afford . Better help make’s access and affordable possible on a level I’ve never experienced before !! Thank you Ginna !!

worth the money. listen. therapy is very daunting, not only bc you have to talk about sensitive subjects but because finding the right therapist can be a challenge. When I signed up for BH, it was my 3rd time trying therapy ( I stopped it for like 6 months). But this is your sign to not give up on yourself. Your mental and emotional and even spiritual (if you subscribe to a faith) well being are far more important than your physical. BetterHelp is nice bc you can switch therapists in no time, even when you’re matched with one, at no additional cost. You can also pick the different specialties you want in a therapist. I personally switched counselors around 3 times, in the span of 4 days because since it was close to Christmas, some had tight schedules, and I wanted to talk to someone sooner than they had available. Another therapist told me that she didn’t think she could provide me the best help I needed because it wasn’t as experienced in that specific area. Although it was disappointing to have to switch again, I was grateful that she let me know instead of just going along, and not really knowing what she was doing. Please do yourself a favor, and try it out. They have a few discounts for like low income, or students. Best wishes! :)

Love My Counselor. I know some people have had issues with counselor hopping or finding someone they connect with but I guess I got lucky. My counselor, Hope, is the first and only counselor I’ve had on the app. She’s one of the best therapists I’ve ever had, and I’ve had quite a few. She’s great at listening and sometimes she does a LOT of listening lol but she always has some kind of insight and thought provoking conclusion. She also has a wonderfully warm and caring demeanor. At first, I was afraid that maybe she, like any counselor on a phone therapy app, was nice but too basic. How well can you really connect with someone over a phone? And if someone’s a truly great counselor, don’t they have their own practice or belong to some renowned center with “Healing” or “Lotus” in the name, NOT some phone app company? But Hope has shown me that good therapy doesn’t require a lot of psychobabble and crazy experimental techniques and devices (I’ve done Immersive Sound Parasympathetic Reconstructive Therapy and EMDR in the past). Sometimes just talking thru issues, processing them and gaining good insight while being reminded to make time for myself makes all the difference in the world. I feel like those other, pricier, “renowned” therapists were all about throwing their techniques at me and seeing if they helped me. Hope has this really bizarre approach of just actually helping me.

Make sure it’s appropriate for you. After my initial experience with the first therapist, I initially decided to stop my association with BetterHelp, but I still had a month to try the group therapy and classes. After taking a group session, I wished that I could just do the groups because it was so VERY helpful. The second therapist they matched me to was in no way, shape, or form going to work just based on his profile and I decided not to trigger myself by even trying a session with him. The third one is PERFECT for me. After our first session, I immediately reinstated my account. I also have now taken classes which are fantastic and have tons of information and information about other resources (books). DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, use BetterHelp if you’re unable to detach yourself from another person’s reactions to your past trauma or have extreme PTSD reactions that can be easily triggered. If I had not been further along in my journey of healing, the reaction from the first therapist would have potentially caused me to self harm. Get help from crisis therapy in your area first to stabilize yourself if your trauma is fresh or complicated (as mine is) and you haven’t used any therapy before. This is a wonderful place to CONTINUE your journey to recovery of your mental health if you have been as traumatized as myself in your past. BetterHelp needs to better explain this in its advertising which is why it gets 4, not 5 stars.

A wonderful app and platform. I became a part of the BetterHelp community when my previous therapist was no longer helpful in overcoming my issues and trauma and any therapists under my insurance that specialized in the areas I was looking help for weren’t available for months. My employer offers a discount and partnership with BetterHelp and I took the chance of online therapy. I was hesitant because I was used to traditional in person sessions but along with covid I knew that wasn’t likely to happen anytime soon. My therapists has done wonders for me and it’s not an exaggeration. She actually explains to me the psychology behind what’s happening in my mind and decision making along with hearing me out without judgment. I truly feel comfortable opening up to her and I can see her as a friend and not someone to be afraid of. I love that I can message her at anytime of the day because sometimes my anxiety can flare up and I don’t know what else to do but now I have her. I also enjoy the group webinars offered that provide more insight in addressing my issues. I highly recommend this platform to anyone who needs a trained, helpful professional to work through anything going on in your life. Whatever you pay is worth everything you get by being a member.

You Need to Keep Searching To Find Your Clinician. I appreciate this company and their support has been great. After trying Talkspace, I came to them and wanted to try them out, but didn't qualify for more than 5% financial aid, and they gave me 40% after learning that I had shelled' out for their competitor. It took me several tries, because some clinicians didn't respond or wrote very short replies, or (in one case), asked what I wanted out of therapy when I'd written a pretty detailed response to the initial questionnaire. After working with my clinician for several months, I canceled my account. I had to start the process over again, but when I reached out to support, they told me I could get back to working with the clinician I liked, and my session history was restored, just as if I'd never left. This clinician is great, too. His name is Lance Tingle, and he provides Thankful Thursdays and Mindfulness Monday exercises, along with the therapy. He is quick to respond, and he provides exercises, app recommendations, and articles to read. If you keep at it and find a clinician whom you trust and are able to work with, this can be a really great app. You have the means to write about your experiences on-the-go, so you can process things as they come up. Cancellation is a bit of a convoluted process since you have to click Cancel several times, and make sure you get the cancellation E-mail. Other than this, I highly recommend the company and its services.

Therapy. I first saw the ad through Instagram, after a few random clicks and reviews I decided to give it a try. This is the first time I would be doing therapy and BetterHelp has made it very easy. The questions beforehand are simple and doesn’t feel like pressure answering them. The payment is also a great one where you pay every 4 weeks. After exploring both the app and the site which work really well and I haven’t had any tech issues I found out the patient can work on Journals. This is great for people who enjoy writing or need a minute to channel themselves. You can choose to write everyday and shuffle through each of the prompts. You also have the option of allowing your therapist to see your journal entries too which is up to the individual. The therapist that I was able to connect with was Lakiah Edwin-Bankston. After a few messages and a session with her I felt confident with myself. She is a great level-headed person that you can tell she enjoys her work. I plan on staying with her for as long as I can. I’m thankful I was able to be matched with her. Although sometimes when I do message her it takes 1-2 business days to get a reply she is able to help with what I have said.

So thankful for my therapist!!!. I was hesitant to actually start this. I had one therapist before (not through here) and it lasted 3 sessions before I was fed up that I keep wasting my money to literally talk to someone with no solution out of it. My boyfriend can hear me whine for free, why do I need to pay someone?! So I stopped going. Obviously I still had my issues and once I started my new job, I realized just how much those things were affecting me. However, I refused to let myself sink. I had no expectations of this app, I just gave it a try because honestly, the fact that I don’t have to go anywhere or drive anywhere or worry about being on time, I would be stupid not to give this a go. How many times have we wasted money on stupid things?! Everyday!! This is for my mental health and sanity, which should be your top priority. And if you’re here reading this, you have to care about your mental health too! I have been doing my weekly visits with my therapist, Veronica Johnson, and within my first session I realized just how great this is going to be. I’m not “cured” , I’m not where I want to be in my life but dude I’m so much farther than where I was a month ago. I can’t wait to see where I am in another month or two. If you are reading this, I hope you know that you don’t have to be alone. If you can’t afford it, see if you’re eligible to get the price knocked down, it’s super easy!

Lucy Rooney. I am so impressed with the whole service - Just talking with Lucy on my first session was truly wonderful. I feel understood and Lucy made me feel not alone and that there is light at the end of the tunnel (hope the tunnel isn’t too long 🙃). Lucy is sending though some homework - I am looking forward to completing the worksheets and striving to kick some goals with support from her. Thank you so much for your time today and I am looking forward to talking with you again xo

CHANGED MY LIFE. The accessibility this service provides is 11\10. Been in and out of therapy my entire life (25 years) and I think I’ve finally found something that will stick long term and be super stable. Amazing connections, great diagnostics and the team at Better Help are super professional, private, open and SAFE. TYSM!! Great discounted prices for those of us who are financially unstable, experiencing hardship or what not. This service is available to EVERYONE, no matter who you are or where you’re from. AND cheers to Ariana Grande for the free month of sessions.

Recommend to anyone who is crying out for help. If you feel like you aren’t getting enough support from people then this app is your you. They matched me with the most perfect person I could imagine and if I need help but we haven’t scheduled a session she is there for me. It’s exactly what I needed while I’m going through such a rough time and I couldn’t imagine a better support network. I don’t feel so alone and I don’t feel like I’m just a pay check to another psychologist.

A Game Changer. I was matched with a therapist very quickly after completing my questionnaire and she has been absolutely amazing. I never thought talk therapy would work for me but after a couple of months I really look forward to it every week. I like you can message your therapist anytime, you have a journal which you can share with them, access to group therapy & resources and the option to either audio or video with your therapist when it’s convenient for you. I’ve not had to, but you can also change therapists if you’re not connecting well. If you’ve never tried talk therapy before or didn’t find it helpful/successful, I would give this a go.

Great Service For People All Around The World 🌎. I found out about BetterHelp via a YouTuber I watch. He spoke highly of his therapist & that she had helped him so much. So not being able to see any therapist locally, due to long waiting times, I decided to give BetterHelp a go & I'm so so glad I did. It’s gave me my life back & helps me move forward & make healthy decisions for me & strengthen my boundaries. My therapist Dawn has helped me through some tough times. Thank you BetterHelp.

Great concept but difficult for Southern Hemisphere clients. I love the idea of doing the sessions from home (or anywhere) and my therapist was very helpful, but being in the Southern Hemisphere it was difficult to find a session time (I did 6.15am and then 4.30am), I didn’t want to change therapist, and I wasn’t sure if there is anyone registered in a more convenient time zone for me. Same with the groupinars, however I believe they are recorded and can watch later? I have to find this out. I am cancelling after 1 month only because of the scheduling difficulty, and also that I feel my therapist helped me enough so I could do some work on myself by myself… I will use Better Help again if I need it.

Paired with a great psychologist efficiently. I've really enjoyed working with my BetterHelp psychologist so far and was paired with her very soon after signing up. I seek other help in person but when I can't get to a session in time with them, I know that I can always communicate with my BetterHelp psychologist. We've been communicating several times per week where I would normally see my therapists in person every month or 6 weeks. I really appreciate the regular support.

Better help is better than I’d ever hoped. Living remotely, access to mental health and well-being services is difficult. I thought I’d try BetterHelp but was not sure if it would feel too impersonal due to the online nature of the services. But I was extremely surprised and have got so much from the therapy services (all from the safety and comfort of my own home too!!). If you need to match with a different therapist it’s very simple and its normal that it can take some time to find someone who you feel comfortable speaking with. I highly recommend BetterHelp and encourage anyone who’s curious to give it a go!

Life changing. I am so so so glad that I found this app. I first found out about it from listening to a podcast called "The Mental Illness Happy Hour". It seemed so beneficial to the host that it made me interested in checking it out. I had a number of life changing moments occur in a short amount of time which led me to feel extraordinarily overwhelmed. I have literally never felt healthier and happier after using it for a few months. This app offers counselling through a variety of options such as phone and video sessions, as well as a chatting option. Particularly the chat option has benefited me by having the ability to send thoughts in real time as well as reading back over things. Both of these have led me to have insights that have had direct positive impacts.

Very good. I love that I can use a journaling service and message my counsellor whenever. This app/service is very convenient and easy to use. Some things I think could be improved are: - Being able to view available session times ahead of schedule. I would like to be able to schedule my sessions in clusters so I can schedule my life ahead of time and be able to see if other times pop up that work better for me. At the moment the app only allows you to see available times before you schedule your next session. - Weekly to-do list. So I can know what I need to work on for the week set by my counsellor. - Document portal where you can view all the documents/ help sheets that are sent to you. Otherwise, this service is great and much more time saving that going to a face to face session and all the info is right there at your finger tips. They tailor to your needs and choose a counsellor that aligns with your values and needs.

If you actually need support don’t get this app. When going through the questions to see which one of their counsellors will be the best fit for you, if you say you are struggling with more than one thing or have gone through trauma, etc, they won’t help you but will recommend you seek face to face counselling. They would prefer offer you no support rather than saying we aren’t enough but here’s a bit of help. I personally wanted to try this as face to face counselling is just not an option for me right now, but got rejected. I’ve also found out that majority of their staff are not licensed counsellors or mental health professionals and it is up to you as the user to find out of your appointed counsellor actually has credentials or not. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

Affordable and easy. I couldn’t afford to get a counsellor, I had to try BetterHelp - first therapist didn’t really understandable and I had the ability to search for one that fits my needs and has my Christian values. Finding a therapist that gets me was the best and when I am down, I can text my therapist and get responses back from them. It has been seamless! Best part outside of the therapist is the affordability for unemployed mums like myself.

Good app, good providers.. After some minor teething issues finding the an appropriate counsellor (the first two ‘didn’t have reasonable knowledge of how to manger my issues’ and were ‘not registered to provide support for your country’), I found the perfect mental Heath provider. He gets me, understands my issues, and doing our weekly calls is able to read my facial expressions to the point where he “knows” what the issues are without me really saying them!! All in all, a great app and with the right provider- the right level of support!

Such a convenient and necessary approach to therapy. To be able to get out of bed (or stay there), reach for my laptop or phone and reach out to a therapist has been such welcome change to how therapy has been conducted in the past. Where therapy was limited to area, availability and time constraints - this solution has provided anyone with an internet connection to be able to get the support they need. I couldn’t recommend such a convenient application more, you’re no longer restricted with selecting the right therapist or having to factor in travel and upfront expenses per session. Connecting since the pandemic has become more of an online experience, and to grow with the times - to pivot and adapt - welcoming the positives like BetterHelp online therapy will help to embrace a different future in relation to mental health support. Multiple services in one counselling platform. I am in Australia and use the app on a weekly basis. In the app you are able to have weekly sessions with your allocated therapist, text communication with them at a frequency you are comfortable with (I don’t text much), weekly group counselling through a wide variety of topics and therapist and a groupinar. I have been with BetterHelp now 8 months and whilst yes it costs Aud$440 a month, I would not be able to get the wide variety of services in this package for that price. Disappointed though I only found out about the groupinars last month, whilst attending a group counselling session. The entitlements on joining probably need to be a little clearer. Also I have had my membership extended several times; a full month free when the first therapist left the platform and a week when my therapist has been on vacation and unable to do our session. All with a quick email. I have found the platform to be user friendly and it is meeting my needs when I was unable to locate local counselling without extraordinary wait lists.

Excellent service especially for regional users. In regional and rural areas, counselling services are very hard to get into, let alone quickly. This service was instantly accessible and offered heaps of additional webinars for added value and extra education. And using the Giggly Squad referral I even got a 90% discount off the first session. I really like how they match you to a counsellor who is professional and knowledgeable. A great service when you need some support.

not worth it. I downloaded this after reading 1000s of positive reviews because I was too uncomfortable to go to face-to-face sessions. It was an absolute waste of my time and money! The therapists are not from Australia so it took about 12 hours for a response and the live sessions are 10pm-6am. Their messages are not helpful at all; there’s a lot of quotes/sayings and “how can i help.” However, when you answer that question or try to explain how you’re feeling, it’s not acknowledged and basically ignored. I tried multiple therapists but it was exhausting having to reintroduce myself and my issues every time. I winded up feeling like I was being my own therapist…. so please, if you’re from Australia, DO NOT waste your time or precious money. Seek other free options like HeadSpace or via face to face therapy with a mental health care plan from the GP (subsidised).

Getting Started Is Easy!. The App & technical process is simple to use. You can fill in a daily journal with many different areas of response to encourage you. These can go straight to your therapist. It is easy to find a session time on the App. Choose a Video Session rather than text or phone call. The therapist is always able to be contacted on a day to day basis by text. So you can ask any questions at any time. When your Session is about to start you get lots of reminders & help - you click onto Session Start & wait for the therapist to come online. It all works smoothly & there are also Group Sessions you can join with interesting titles. I might try one of those in my 2nd week.

Not worth it!. I wanted to try this app because I’ve read some good reviews about it. However, after I’ve paid $360, (that was already scary)I’ve expected it’s well spent money. I didn’t get a response until after about 12 hours. After writing everything down, what I’m going through and why I need help, all the therapists said was “thank you for reaching out to me, I’m here anytime you need, etc.” no actual help or support. I found out she is based in America, I’m in Australia, which I did not expect to get a “therapist” from overseas. After not hearing back for another day, I’ve asked the support to give me a refund, as I didn’t see this going anywhere. All I got back was $216 and they have kept my $144 for absolutely NOTHING!!! Not worth it. This just made me stress even more. All I needed was help, but I feel like this app is only to make money of desperate people. Avoid at any “cost”.

Exceed expectations. Taking the first step is hard enough. Complicated even, so that takes a toll on the stress maybe are coming to terms with going ahead with it to begin with. In saying that, find the right Therapist maybe just as daunting, but taking on the first session, and realizing the very first therapist is top-notch and actually listens and cares and gives productive feedback and genuine Responses exceeds expectations more than I could’ve ever imagined! It isn’t just enough, it’s a lifetime of better, helpful assistance! Take a chance, curiosity doesn’t hurt, ever. You can only pay for your. Own well-being. Take a chance today and give it a try! You won’t regret it. Trust me. Thank you better help and thanks to my Therapist!

Best support ever. I have seen people on and off over the last 20 months years whilst trying to navigate issues over the years. Stumbled across Better Help and in all honesty I have found an amazing therapist in Diya. No therapist has listened as keenly or provided me with better tools to move my life forward. Best decision I’ve ever made. Cannot thank Diya enough for her kindness and support. Thank you better help for matching me with the perfect therapist.

Convenient Therapy. With the way the world is now living with the pandemic, Psychologist’s books are full. No one is taking new clients. BetterHelp app has helped me with the shortage of psychologists. I did a quick questionnaire on what I needed support with, & within a day, I was recommended a great therapist with the appropriate qualifications to support me! Because I share my life with C-PTSD, the symptoms come & go.. & knowing that this app is here for me at anytime day/night.. is great! Definitely recommend it!

Love it. I like that they match you with someone who suits your needs based on your answers during sign up. You’re able to switch therapists easily if they’re not a match, or if your needs change. The therapist I matched with has been such a supportive presence. I took some time off for financial reasons and now I’m excited to be back to my sessions again! You can choose whether to do a video, voice call or messenger chat for your session (I choose voice call). There are also live group sessions you can book into on various mental health topics- the one I have coming up is Yoga for Anxiety, which I am looking forward to. Best therapy experience I’ve had in my life.

Where traditional therapy doesn’t work. Try this.. I could do a spiel on this, but ultimately it just comes down to what works for you, and for ME specifically the ability to connect with and communicate with my therapist openly and regularly is something that I think is really helpful. The platform is amazing, there are options for “targeted” group therapy if there’s issues or topics you want to touch on specifically with others who are also interested. And being able to have a personal journal that you can share with your therapist, as well as worksheets or “goals/tasks” to work on is a great way to commit to being able to do the work consistently.

Terrible. I’m an Australian client I couldn’t find the times that I was wanting they expect to give you the times in America you’re to figure out what the time is it in Australia the communications terrible you never get a straight answer you never get messaged back I’ve had to therapist I’ve paid for almost 3 sessions and I’ve had none I would not be recommending us I have 34,000 followers and I would definitely definitely NOT RECOMMENDAustralian clients or anyone that’s out of America the times are terrible what they offer I contacted admin three times before they responded which was an 3 to full day period I’ve messaged him again no answer I’ve messaged my therapist no answer just do yourself a favour and don’t use this app if you’re out of America I didn’t enjoy it at all would never ever recommend this 😒

A chance to turn it all around in a positive safe way. If you need to see someone for mental health reasons, talking or seeing a therapist through this app can help put you on the path of recovery. I am incredibly grateful that I reached out, matched with a therapist that complimented my needs, and just from one session I can feel that I am on the right road. Please reach out if you need, this app can be the building block or foundation for a safer and healthier journey.

Not enough availability or responsiveness from counselors. I like that the app is convenient to book sessions online but I find that I’m not getting enough interaction with counsellors throughout the week. I’ve have last minute cancellations/changes on scheduled sessions and I find booking a new counsellor often there’s not many sessions I can schedule within the next week. There’s obviously not enough counsellors or exisiting counsellors are accepting more patients than they can manage on a regular basis. For an app that claims to give unlimited counselling anytime anywhere, doesn’t feel like it. Paying for a subscription that I can barely make use of every week.

Incredible app and team 💜. As far as accessibility and affordability this app is a really wonderful answer to people like myself who are in non metropolitan areas and also living abroad during this crazy time. I have had to email Better Help after a Therapist didn’t show up to a session and they were extremely helpful and kind and did everything they could to rectify the money and also make sure I was okay. I felt like they genuinely cared. Although I’m still finding a suitable therapist I think as a service they are doing wonderful things.

Good, but not a replacement for face to face therapy if you’re dealing with an acute crisis. I started using this during COVID as I couldn’t get to face to face therapy, and it’s been useful for me to address some longer term and less acute issues. It relies on you choosing to engage with your therapist though, and you may not hear back from them for a day or two, so it may not be the most helpful option if you are dealing with serious mental illness or a crisis situation. The app could be updated - the text box in your therapy “session” can be annoying to use as text isn’t always clearly visible (iphone 11), but it’s fine on a laptop or iPad.

Better Help Review. First session the Jeannie Rioche and she was wonderful, very insightful, she met me where I was at and helped me realise things about myself in the first session, I felt safe and secure, understood, and felt like the stress I had just melted away, she broke down the treatment plan for me and told me the process we are going to take to help me get better and become secure with my little self and my adult self. I feel extremely encouraged for the future ❤️☺️!

Best app for reaching out for support. This is the easiest way I’ve ever had to talk to a therapist and honestly the price is super affordable. My therapist experience so far has been informative and supportive and I can’t express how amazing this app is. Those looking to reach out for help need this and I can’t thank those who have put in the work for this enough. The matching to your therapist is a great help and skips a lot of awkwardness in seeing multiple people before finding someone you are comfortable with. I strongly encourage anyone rest to reach out for help to get onboard with Better Help. It really can help change your life.

An unconventional yet very reliable & easy form of therapy! Absolutely love it!. I may be biased because I have been paired with a great therapist - who not only is a great listener but is very compassionate & ensures I’m doing well - but this app 5/5 as the interface is very user friendly & easy to navigate. I like that everything is done through the app which is easily accessible. Face ID is integrated to enable privacy & security. I haven’t had any bad bugs or glitches on the app itself. It’s well presented and I’ve been enjoying my 2 months of using it so far! Therapy will always be expensive. BetterHelp is on par with face-to-face therapy & counselling but without the awkwardness & difficulty of getting to know someone as it can be done as a simple phone call or even text! It makes getting therapeutic advice much easier in my opinion. Couldn’t recommend this enough. 😊

It’s just about money, they don’t actually care.. Seems like a great idea... but only if you have an extra hundred odd bucks to throw away each week and only if you’re not too messed up. So basically if you have money and life is not really that bad this is for you... they must be the people giving this horrible service a 4/5 star rating. For the rest of us that are living in hell after the year that 2020 was... well we are still on our own, but before they tell you it’s not actually affordable they make you fill out a whole lot of probing questions to trigger you right into your trauma only to leave you alone realising there is zero help on offer from this falsely advertised scam. Don’t waste your time. If you really need actual help and you are in Aust go and speak to your GP about getting a mental health plan. Many mental health professionals are still doing online sessions if that’s and issue and Medicare will make it cheaper than this stupid app anyway. I know this from personal experience. I hope you are ok and if you went through the questions process with this app you are not feeling worse now. You are not alone, even if these a***holes made you feel that way.

Great app. I have done counselling through different services. Face to face, over the phone and on zoom. This by far is the best. Not sure if the gods answered my prayers with my therapist as I got the perfect one on the first sign up. She’s so passionate, really takes the time to know your position and situation.. experienced nothing like it. Most the time I’m confused on where to start but she engages so much into the situation that she asks so many questions that you never feel lost. The membership is perfect as you can do 2 sessions p/wk if you therapist has available dates so great value for $ when I pay $110 p/w. Highly recommend!!!!!

Do not use this if you actually need help or are in Australia. Most of the ‘therapists’ are just social workers, I don’t know why I expected any of them to actually be clinically trained.. i had one session before cancelling my membership and throwing the money down the drain because in that one session I went through my issues and the woman told me to ‘stop stressing’ - wow. She talked about herself and how she was ‘on vacation right now getting sunburnt’ and told me to just enjoy the hear and now. What ‘professional’ therapist would ever say that to someone suffering anxiety and depression? When I asked to change therapists and went through the list, all of them were based in America so their times to chat are in the middle of the night in Australia, they don’t tell you that.. Honestly I’m so disappointed with this and think it’s quite dangerous to advertise therapy to people who might be more vulnerable than me, and who may well be tipped over the edge of someone told them to ‘stop stressing’. I’ll be advising anyone I meet to never use this platform.

Therapists are absent. The app itself is fine, the journal feature is good, and the price for would be reasonable if the therapists on there were attentive at all. I’ve had two therapists late to appointments or missing appointments entirely because they had ‘emergencies’ or were at another job. I understand this is a side job for many therapists, but for the price you pay you’d expect some more care. As an Australian it was also not very helpful as all the therapists are based elsewhere, and time zones don’t match up well. I know that online therapy is easier for most, especially for people with anxiety. However it is much more worth while to spend your money and energy with a local therapist you can see in person.

Wonderful idea. While I think this is a wonderful idea, I was a bit shocked with the price. While I understand that therapy cost money, I didn’t think so much. Completely understand as therapists are hard working people. I personally can’t afford this app but if you can afford several hundred dollars (Aus) a month, absolutely do it! My next option is to get a mental health plan which includes 10-12 bulk billed sessions where you don’t really pay anything. Yes seeing a therapist in person isn’t like this app but it is better than nothing, hope to one day be able to use better help app..

Give it a go. Please I would encourage everyone and anyone to open your heart and mind to giving therapy a go. With the sessions that I’ve had so far I was able to rediscover myself, forgive my past and work towards a better future. I was very adamant about trying therapy as I was too stubborn to admit that I need help but now I feel so much better. Better help empowers you, it allows you to open up, speak freely and be heard too! I would encourage anyone to please give it a go as you might change your life or someone else’s too!

Absolutely brilliant. Being able to talk (either phone call or video call)with a qualified therapist has made a world of difference. It’s more economical than going through the process of getting referrals from GP and then finding an in person therapist, and living in a rural area there’s the added costs for travel. This cuts all those things out. There’s usually a number of available sessions each week, no travel costs, no referrals, just immediate help at half the price

It's easier than you think to get started with getting the help you deserve. Signed up for this on a whim after discussing with my partner about certain behaviours I exhibit which are unhealthy. The sign up procedure is fairly straight forward and easy to do and there is financial aid available for those that qualify. My therapist has been very good about responding back to my messages and starting the process from a simple chat and then organising a live session, as this is all online it is much more convenient to simple log in online than show up to an office in person and therefore made my decision easier to seek help. If you have been thinking about getting therapy give this a try as this could be the stepping stone you need.

Wish I’d found this sooner 💖. This type of therapy was made for people like me! I wish I’d found this years ago. I don’t have to drive to an appointment, don’t have to get dressed and ‘show up’, so my anxiety is controllable. Just a swipe on my iPad or phone and I’m in a session. The wide range of group topics are also a massive bonus, on top of the one on one sessions. I would challenge anyone to give it at least a week’s trial. Thank you, BetterHelp!!

Love it except for when it crashes. I’ve only had it about a week and I have already felt a huge change in my life since being paired with an online psychologist. I did notice however, after my payment when through I wasn’t able to log in for a couple of days. I uninstalled and it would work but then not work again the next day. So I’m constantly deleting and reinstalling the app. Not sure what’s happened since the first few days I’ve had it. Apart from that the actual app and it’s features are great. I especially enjoy the online journal which you can share with your counsellor with one click. Thanks :)

One star for one star.. There really has been only one star of a better help for me so far and that’s my councillor. Unfortunately however during the epidemic I have moved to a night shift and our times are incompatible. You’d think moving to another councillor would be easy. But so far getting any form of reply other than a cheap Facebook bot that refers you back to emails that have all gone unanswered there is none to be had. All though I feel like I’ve been had. Currently I am paying for a councillor I can’t use. I have spent a months worth of a 6 month subscription and had 0 appointments. If I was to have an appointment though another 2 issues occur, firstly it’s extremely unlikely there is another session available the week after my appointment as it’s only once your appointment finishes can you check and book, these means “1 included weekly session” is a lie, it can’t be done currently. Simply a massive flaw. Secondly if there were appointments available they could be any random time from 1:00am to 12:00pm there’s no pattern to fit into a routine. I would happily rewrite this and praise BetterHelp if they were actually BetterHelp, hopefully some solution is made soon.

The remote access to therapy is great but the app is buggy. The service is great. My therapist is awesome. There are just some things that need fixing in the app: 1) better load management, at peak times the system is struggling with load on the mobile app. Recommend scaling the environment to support streaming content. 2) ability to multi-task, when you’re on a call with your therapist you may wish to also share images etc through the session window. However calls do not allow you to access the full session window. 3) quicker response times to actions. If my therapist (who is in PCT timezone) schedules a call it takes two to three tries before the call shows up on my side in Australia through the app. 4) it would be good if the developers could look to something like how webex handles bookings to allow patients to open and join the booking and wait for their therapist in lieu of the push mechanism that exists now where users have to wait for their therapist to open the call for the pop up to show for you to join. Because of the lag in showing up these pop ups to patients, both patients and therapists are not sure if the session is going ahead. 5) ability to be logged into the app from multiple devices (it kicks you out if you try to login elsewhere) enabling multiple sessions for a user would also help with point 2. I could probably think of more. Happy to provide advice to the development team. Otherwise I love the service itself.

Please Consider Using This App. I’ve used the traditional method of therapy in the past - the face to face kind. What I love about BetterHelp is that you can message anytime of the day, getting your thoughts and feelings written down, rather than waiting for an appointment. My therapist responds in a timely manner even though we are half a world away from each other. She was matched to me after I filled out a detailed questionnaire, which I also thought was great. She checks in with me if she hasn’t heard from me after a couple of days, and I feel like I have a confidante and a friend to help me through a difficult time in my life. My therapist outlined from the beginning that the answers needed to come from me, which subtle guidance from her. I was happy with that, and this form of therapy is helping me. The option is always there for me to change therapists if I feel it’s not being helpful, so I’d say really be honest with yourself about what you want out of a therapist.

SUPER EXPENSIVE!! ONLY FOR THOSE WITH $$$ TO SPARE!. The idea behind the app is great and I’m sure it would help many people. However, the pricing is seriously unrealistic. I was offered the “reduced” rate as I am unemployed and yet, it was going to cost me $90 AUD per week! I only receive $250 per week!! There is no way I would ever be able to afford $90 per week for counselling! I’m so disappointed because I truly believe that Better Help is a fantastic idea and has the potential to help many people... however, it seems they can only help you if you are a pretty high income earner and have plenty of $$$ to spare. It’s so disappointing to think of ALL those people out there, including myself, who are struggling mentally and are only holding on by a thread... those who really need help but can’t receive it because of the steep price. It’s heart breaking honestly. I like your idea... but I’m disappointed in Better Help for not making this very essential service affordable to the entire public.

Sad it isn’t better. Honestly I had high hopes for this application. I was hoping it could be beneficial. But it too them too long to find me a therapist whilst charging me money. And then would pare me with someone in the exact opposite Timezone to me, meaning I would need to use it at very inconvenient times to myself which the app tries to tell you that it is meant to be at your own convenience. Furthermore the app is buggy when you try and update details and freezes if you try and change payment options or cancel your membership. I was really hoping this would be a helpful app. And for those it is helping I’m glad it is for you. But for me it just feels like another broken promise and another person taking advantage of me.

Give it a try. When you find the right therapist it is definitely worth it. The one that originally place you with isn’t always the best. Make sure to research the person first and make sure they are real. I couldn’t find a thing about the first person they placed me with and dug all over the internet. I almost just threw in the towel as I thought it was a scam but I went to “change therapist” and was able to go through a list. I researched a few and picked my own. It’s been a great experience since and has helped me tremendously and saved me a lot of money considering a single appointment face to face with a therapist in Australia costs the same or more as a month subscription here with unlimited appointments. Rosemarie is amazing and doesn’t live that far away from me so it’s not some overseas scam and there are some amazing providers on here

Helpful and Professional. I was in a really dark place a while back and knew that I needed some help. At first I was sceptical to try a an app for therapy but once I met my therapist, I started to slowly feel better. Talking with someone who is familiar with your situation whenever your ready, whenever you really need someone to hear you, at almost any time of the day without having to go anywhere is something everyone needs. It does require a membership, but from what I’ve experienced I can tell you that it is worth it

The Best Help!. I started with BetterHelp two months ago. My therapist is supportive of my needs and my progress and always professional. I have gained a lot of confidence since starting with BetterHelp and would recommend it all. Give it a go, I’m sure like me you will be happy with the service and the support given. I give my therapist 5 out of 5. I honestly don’t know how I managed without her guidance and knowledge to aid in my journey of healing.

Exploitative, Unhelpful. 0 star review if I could. Forced to pay for 1 month ($420 CAD) just to try. You get matched with therapists with seemingly no rhyme or reason - nothing to do with the painful questionnaire and pour-your-heart-out intro. The app is clunky, video sessions were laboured, the experience was awful and expensive and I’m not sure the caliber of therapists is any good. Save yourself the time and the money and find a good therapist locally. The in-person process cannot be replaced by this crap.

THIEVES- WHO DOES THIS TO PEOPLE IN DIRE HELP??. I barely owned this app for a week nor had a real session with my councillor and decided to end my subscription mostly due to not wanting help. You guys said it will charge $80/month yet I was charged $340 right away!!! We are in a pandemic and I am losing my career soon, have the decency of a human being and refund the outrageous price I never knew I’d be charged or ever wanted. What is worse is how my councillor called me Max instead of Mike when I asked about billing. Amazing service from “Betterhelp ourselves to your wallet”...

I’m depressed not stupid. My “therapist” just copied/paste some article she found online on depression and her spelling so bad she was hard to read. There is no way she studied to become a therapist. I google her name and found her linkedin where she says she’s an “entrepreneur”. Save yourself some time and avoid this app.

Terrible service. Couldn’t even get my counsellor to book every week!. So I end up pre-paying (to get the good pricing right?) and then get less than 1 session per week (because they will only let you book 1 appt at a time!!) because counsellor goes on vacation. So I ask for refund and they said I used all my time. I explained he wasn’t available and told me to go stuff it... Definitely a scam!

Absolutely horrible. I was denied simply because my financial situation is poor. That is absolutely unacceptable I’m aware that this cost money and i was willing to pay any fees. THIS IS NOT PROFESSIONAL!! DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP IF YOU WANT IMMEDIATE HELP OR ARE STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY!!!!

😳😳😳😳😳😳trash. Not impressed this app is joke garbage app

Atrocious Customer Service and No Insurance. Customer service at BetterHelp is honestly terrible. The first time I made contact with them to ask them to send an invoice they said they will get back to me with an email and two months later never ended up doing that. My daughter emailed them 10 times with 10 different questions, last month which she didn’t receive a response back to. After we contacted them yesterday, again about an invoice, they do not offer reimbursement with insurance and my daughter asked, “If when we cancel our membership, will my conversations and worksheets and progress with my therapist be saved?”. They replied, “I don’t know, I’ll email you.”. And had hung up. Still haven’t replied. Terribly unprofessional. Hoping to get a response back soon but will be disappointed, and won’t be surprised if they don’t.

Just go to a local therapist. It’s really difficult to find a good fit therapist on BetterHelp. The ones who are available seem… unprofessional, distracted and probably like they aren’t being paid enough. I regret falling for this marketing. Do your mental health a favor and go to a therapist that isn’t being paid by a tech company.

Scam don’t download this app. Everyone I recommended it to, the app said that they could not help them. I decided to try it myself and also got the same response. My boyfriend, my friends and I got declined from getting help. There are people who need real advice or guidance and they’re not getting it here.

This is a scam, their “therapists “ can scar you about therapy in general. Please feel free to try this, but know that if you feel like this isn’t working for you because yo don’t feel heard or just get anything good out of this: it’s because this tool and the collection of people here are doing this for money and literally don’t understand their responsibility for curating a solid workforce.

First session went well. I was matched with a counsellor quite quickly and had a session scheduled for the same week. Just finished my first appointment and it was very helpful.

Disappointed. I don’t understand why you would choose to promote this app using influencers who have a generally younger audience and not have it available for teenagers.

Misleading description. The description of the app says that you can message your counsellor at any time, which technically you can, but the impression that is given is that when you message your counsellor at any time, you’re going to be receiving help when you really need it. That’s not the case at all. They’ll tell you to journal or take deep breaths to get you through until your appointment with them. And such long wait times between appointments. Honestly, a total waste of time and money. I would have been better off scheduling an appointment to see a local counsellor. At least that appointment would be covered by insurance

App is awful. Must complete questionnaires until you are even more insane and it still won’t work. Zero help. Not sure about all the counsellors - thought mine was good until I expressed my frustration and she told me to find someone else. Great listener but not one helpful thing to say - great way to earn money for nothing. Horrible - don’t use it.

The app won't even download. I've been trying for 2 days to download the app and the spinner just keeps going and going

The best. Has been really helpful 🌹

Scam. $420 a month with no guarantee who many sessions you’ll get - I paid $420 and was able to get one session out of it. They advertise like $420 gets you four sessions a month, making each session less expensive than in-person therapy. What they don’t tell you is that you probably won’t find someone who is available for four sessions a month, so you will be paying more per session than if you attended traditional therapy. The quality of the counselling is also extremely varied, and for the price, you are almost certainly better off finding a well-reviewed licensed practitioner in your area.

Way too expensive for disabled peoples. To preface this, I’m disabled and my income per month is very limited, less than ~CAD$340 per month and most of it goes towards medication and groceries. The base price of signing up for BetterHelp is CAD$105 PER WEEK, thats around $420 a month which is already absurdly expensive, I got a small discount for being unemployed and disabled but only a small one that lowered it to $340 a week! How am I supposed to afford help if I’m unemployed and disabled BECAUSE I need help.?? I contacted the BetterHelp team and asked for assistance and they sent me a form to fill out for a financial aid discount, I qualified (unsurprisingly) but the sign up cost is still a whopping $255 per month, if i were to pay that i would only have ~$85 left per month for groceries, food, medication, and pet supplies which is simply not possible for me to afford. If they charged per session instead of on a weekly/monthly basis would make more sense for me since i tend to go long periods of time without contacting anyone, but theres no option to be charged by session instead of monthly. Even discounted, $255 is still far too much to be charging someone who might only use BetterHelp a 2-3 days a week, if it was half that maybe i would consider it. ~ before a number means its an approximation and not an exact answer.

Very expensive. But cheaper and more convenient than other options.. Before this app: It is very expensive to get a licensed professional therapist to help you, normally. There is also a great issue with convenience: usually you need to go to the counsellors office to meet with them in person. This app avoids those issues at least partly.

No…… JUST NO. Has male therapists legit asking my friend about her boob size, trying to video call her without an appointment 10x in a row, after she picked up he was IN BED. Also confessing he “loves women of colour”. This man’s married and has like 5 kids. This app is repulsive. Being in Canada and having the therapists from the states you can’t do anything. You come to betterhelp for HELP, not to get MORE TRAUMATIZED.

Advertied as free. It is not free. All ads say this help is FREE. It is not free as soon as you sign up it changes you $180USD a month!

No verification email. I have tried to register twice since yesterday, but still no verification email. It’s not even in my junk mail either. Will be looking for a different app.

Horrible App. Who are the developers of this app? Completely not user friendly. I think this is a scam. Was going to have my first session on Friday. Since I downloaded this app I’ve been getting a ton of spam. Messaged the therapist I was matched with and she doesn’t even know how to use the app.

Great counseling, poor customer service. My counsellor was fantastic. Getting help with a billing problem? I’ll need to try Talk Space to get over the frustrating loop of endless back and forth over email. How can a company charge customers but not allow me to call and sort it out with them? I recommend avoiding this company for this reason.

Don’t bother downloading. Would rate 0 if I could. 1. Rejects help completely if you answer the questionnaire wrong. 2. Takes too long to even reply once you maneuver around the questionnaire 3. Charges 45WEEKLY. How is this remotely “free” Total joke of an app.

Denied treatment without explanation. I was proud of myself, reaching out again, and denied help, yet again. These people responded to my inquiry about assignment of a counselor with a straight up rejection. With no explanation, I am now here wondering what to do. This was the best choice for my lifestyle and they refuse to help. Please keep this in mind before you decide to download this app, being denied care is incredibly discouraging and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone that is struggling.

Non professional therapist. My therapist was not professional and diagnosing people in my life without knowing them.

Don’t trust them. They’re being sued for selling medical data and have had multiple controversies about their councilors not having any training or keeping your conversations private.

Overpriced app for unprofessional care. None of BetterHelp’s therapists seem to be equipped for our unprecedented times. I spent $300/month for a BetterHelp therapist to tell me to stay positive. I can tell myself to do that on my own.

Credit Card Fraud. Do not give this company your credit card information. They continue to charge your card even after your membership is cancelled. This company will charge you a “membership fee” wether you meet with a therapist or not - and then continue to charge you even after you’ve cancelled your membership.

Terrible. My sister suggested it and said it was 100% free so I take the test and it said I had to pay $105 everyweek. False advertisement. Would give no stars if I could. terrible

Way too Expensive. $85 a week is insanely expensive!

Didn’t work for me. I was looking for a psychologist, in the area that I’m from the wait to see one is long. Decided to try better help, matched a certified “counsellor” however I felt the tools the recommended to me were not what I was looking for. For example: “try indoor gardening” “try a fidget spinner” when coping with anxious thoughts… I’d rather just pay more money to see someone with a masters degree. Plus my benefits didn’t cover better help…

scam. my “therapist” actively made me feel worse lol

Give it a chance. This app might not work for everyone, but I do suggest before you give up on it, give it a full month. I had some difficulties finding my right match for my counsellor, but I found a good fit in this app. The support team is great and really works with you through the beginning month to make it worthwhile when you’re trying to find your counsellor. I really like their “groupinars” which are webinars about counselling topics. They are filled with great information and are really therapeutic knowing that the other people in the space have dealt with similar things. The counsellors have all different appointment times that can work with any schedule. This app can be expensive, but it is worth its weight in gold.

Sold data. Sold data and info from a literal therapy service. And all there punishment was, was to return the price they sold my info was?! (Like $8.93 Canadian) If a therapy company sells info they should have to refund all the money spent. That’s extremely un ethical How betterhelp is allowed to stay in business is beyond me.

Im to mentally ill to work for the money. I need therapy to get work, but can't pay for therapy without work. this is ridiculous and I might as well just go through with what I planned. apparently you don't deserve therapy unless you give up everything in life.

Terrible therapists. Every therapist I’ve had on here has phoned it in the entire time. They do not care and will not remember anything you say. The last straw was the idiot who told me that some people aren’t meant to be loved and I should get used to it (if your therapist is Chad Spencer from Florida, SWITCH NOW for your own good). It sucks but it is literally safer and healthier to manage your problems on your own. This app is guaranteed to only cause you more damage.

Better help patient. If you know that this app is not to be used as emergency services or you are considered suicidal they will tell you to seek help elsewhere. It’s a good app if you know this and also know what your diagnosis are and the type of therapy you need. This app is good for what it was designed to do which is provide counselling, they are not physiatrists they can’t diagnose you, or prescribe you medications you must know what therapy you need. If you are at the point where you know what counselling you need then this app is great for that.

Scam. Giant waste of money. Paid for 4 weeks, and my therapist doesn’t have any availability for 2 weeks, so it’s basically 2 sessions at double the price.

Do Not Trust These People and the Sponsors. The “therapists” vary WIDELY in quality, most of the ones I got paired with helped less than a random mutual/friend online, with them knowing next to nothing about certain topics. Their lack of knowledge could have even harmed issues further. Scummy practices, and lots of hidden/random charges, very hard to cancel and get refunds. So many sponsors everywhere online that you feel they have to be good, but they’re not. Basically a scam.

Unethical money grab. I had one phone call with one councillor and they have repeatedly charged me $340 every month and they will not refund me even though I haven’t used the service. They say I have a subscription but I have tried everything to log in and cancel and they never provide a link to unsubscribe. I can’t log in to the app but they keep charging my credit card. I’ve ask repeatedly for a refund. If one of your concerns is financial… steer clear of these thieves

Just no. I should’ve known that as soon as i heard multiple of my favourite podcasts advertising BetterHelp, it was a scam (for the most part). My brother uses this app and has found himself a good counsellor. However, my partner downloaded this to find himself a counsellor to help treat his depression. He matched with someone and right away he got weird vibes. Halfway through their conversation, the counsellor asks him a question that was clearly meant for someone else. Without saying what he asked, he basically asked my partner a question about himself but got his sexuality, sexual orientation, and past history completely wrong… and i know my partner entered truthful information on the questionnaire. I’m not sure if he mixed up his client profiles or what but everything just seemed completely disorganized. Also, for the questionnaire, my partner was stuck on the questionnaire page for a long time that he almost gave up. One session and a complete waste of $170. Never again. Save yourself the time and money.

They steal your money. Don’t sign up if you don’t really need help they will charge you 200$ as soon as you sign up.

Discouraging. I was refused treatment for no reason and told to find counselling elsewhere.

Charging issues. I briefly subscribed to Better Help and was approved for a cheaper rate. I was matched with a therapist and scheduled an appointment which never went through due to scheduling issues on my part. I cancelled my membership within a few days, and I expected to pay the week even though I barely interacted with my assigned therapist, but was charged 120$ instead. Either they charged me the whole month in advance, or there’s some hidden fees. Regardless, if it’s a weekly fee, I don’t understand how they can charge for the whole month ahead without letting the user get a feel of the app and see if it’s a good fit for them.

Not useful. I tried two different counsellors - both victim blamed me when I mentioned being s**ually a**aulted. I’m also Canadian and found out that the standards for counselling are extremely low in the US compared to counselling here. The idea of BetterHelp is good but what’s the point if the counselling I’m receiving is WAY WORSE than what I would receive elsewhere. Overall a horrible experience with uneducated counsellors.

>:(. Apparently I’m not “ suitable for counselling” I guess I’ll just kill myself because I’m not even good enuf for this.

“That sounds frustrating”. You only talk to your therapist once a week. You can technically message them any time you want but be prepared to just get a “that sounds frustrating” back. Unlikely to use this service ever again.

Gave hope and took it away. You fill out a questionnaire that even asks about your current finances, then connect you with a specialist who sends you a personal message on how they’ll help. I was so relieved to see a real person reaching out to me so I built up the courage to type an emotional reply and express my gratitude. However, they force you to pay an $80 weekly subscription BEFORE they will allow you to reply to the message. Not even a session, just a single MESSAGE. That’s with a discount for saying your finances are bad and using a coupon code from a podcast. Then to make it worse these discounts only last till your first payment comes out. It’s like a pay wall for the less fortunate, even after they say they can help. I’m desperate man, come on...

Two sessions in 🙏🏾. I’m two sessions in with BetterHelp and appreciate the time with my therapist thus far. It took me almost a week after signing up to find her, but something feels right. I was with my last therapist for 3 years but she wasn’t faith-based. Despite building such a great relationship with her, I knew what I needed was rooted in faith and God’s love for me. Having words spoken over you are so powerful and change you, mind, body and soul. I’m looking forward to continuing sessions with my new therapist. One thing I will say is BetterHelp seems to have a glitch when it comes to signing in to a virtual session. In my last session I logged on — and apparently my therapist was logged on as well but she was in a separate room. They should resolve them so people have efficient access to their time slot. Also, keep in mind that depending on what plan you get, you may be charged weekly whether you book a session or not. Last week I noticed that (at the time) I had only seen my therapist once, but BetterHelp had already charged me twice. Keep in mind, the first week I was still looking for a therapist. They had charged me for that week even though I hadn’t seen anyone. Thankfully HR sorted that out, so all good.

Just do it!. I was extremely skeptical about getting help through an app because traditionally you’re supposed to go see a therapist in person and sit on their couch and cry about your feelings. I decided to get help and I had heard about BetterHelp through a podcast I listen to and theta when I gave it a try. I really liked how you can say exactly what your needs are and preferences for a type of therapist based on things like gender, religion, and age. Once I made my selections I really liked that it matches you to someone based on your preferences. My therapist is awesome and has been very helpful. This app is also great with any technical support. The other day I was running into a problem and I contacted support and they immediately fixed the bug and emailed me to say it was fixed and that I would not run into the issue again. They also gave me a free week of service for the trouble. So I recommend this app to everyone. It will absolutely help you and you can talk to your therapist in the comfort of your home and send messages to them when you need to. It’s wonderful and I’m glad I did it

The resource I’ve needed - convenient and affordable. I’ve been in and out of counseling since childhood. What can I say.... I’m professionally dysfunctional. Finding a counselor who’s a good fit can be frustrating, but it’s so worth it. Having access to so many counselors through BetterHelp and being able to easily adjust if one isn’t the right fit is such a great feature. Much easier than intake appointment after intake appointment (with accompanying paperwork) at different provider clinics. Luckily, the first counselor BetterHelp paired me with has been very helpful. The virtual appointments are convenient too!! Sure, not sitting across from your counselor in-person is different, but it takes the stress away from commuting to a clinic, worrying about getting stuck in traffic, worrying about appearance (this is especially soothing for someone who deals with body dysmorphia issues), etc. My counselor will sometimes check in mid-week via the app’s messaging feature, which I find really meaningful. Anyway, if you’re nervous about seeking mental health counseling or don’t have insurance that covers as much of the cost as you’d like at a traditional clinic, check out BetterHelp!

An amazing service. I had originally started a membership with BetterHelp because I was going through a transition at work and needed some guidance and support. The counselor they paired me with is great and super helpful even without me having a solid “direction” for counseling. She responds within a day and checks in on me too, if I haven’t sent her anything or replied in a day or too. That alone was already worth a high rating. But unfortunately as I got to the end of my first month, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to renew my subscription. And that sucked because I’m working from home b/c of the corona virus pandemic. So when I told my counselor I was canceling, she told me to reach out to support and ask about financial assistance or a free week or two. So I sent them a message through the app, and a day later I got an email back saying that I’ll get three free weeks and then the max discount they can offer after those 3 weeks are up, for another two months. All from just an in-app email pleading that now more than ever this service is essential to me and thousands of others. Such a good company, an amazing service. 5 stars all the way.

So thankful for this app. I am so incredibly thankful for this app. Instead of putting a burden on my friends and family I reach out to my therapist at any time. I have a journal I write in and she can see it daily. I also have a place to message her if I’m having an emergency. On top of the 1:1 there’s group sessions available. It fits my time because it’s in my pocket. I don’t have to get ready and head somewhere. Can’t forget to mention THEY HAVE FINANCIAL HELP! The first time I went to sign up I didn’t know and the price scared me. They gave me a discount and I waited to sign up (procrastination at its finest). Totally forgot until they sent me an email with MORE money off! The fact that it’s FSA eligible on top of that sealed the deal for me. Now when I start my new job I’ll be making sure there’s enough in my FSA for Better Help always. The therapist they chose was a match the first time. I am thankful I got to ask for certain aspects such as LGBT friendly and someone will history of helping bi polar people with trauma. I highly highly suggest to even just try this app. You’ll fall in love and your mental health will thank you!

Just What I Need - Therapy in the comfort of my home. The BetterHelp app is great for anyone who wants and/or needs counseling/therapy on their terms, and receive it anywhere you can use a device and/or telephone. And the app is for anyone who doesn’t have the time or resources to physically go meet a counselor/therapist at an office. The app allows users to communicate with their counselor/therapist via text, texting sessions, video sessions, and/or telephone sessions. After briefly choosing two counselors/therapists that weren’t a good match, I chose Maria to be my therapist. It’s been less than a week since our introduction. As of today, I have texted her daily (she replies within hours) and had one telephone session. Not only is she an experienced therapist, she is supportive, nonjudgmental and a good listener. So far she has helped me create action plans and take immediate steps to start moving forward out of a very dark place. I’m looking forward to our upcoming therapy sessions and my healing. I’m grateful for Maria’s expertise and help, as well as the BetterHelp app. I didn’t give the app five stars because users can only schedule one session at a time. I would like to at least be able to schedule two sessions at a time.

Great tool for affordable therapy!. The good: I love Betterhelp, the fact that I can get a therapist for as low as $140/month is amazing and honestly my counsler Aaron is one the best counsler’s I have ever had, there is also a sense of peace the of mind knowing that if I ever had an issue I could easily switch to any of BetterHelps other counselors in as little as 5 minutes! No more fighting with your insurance company to find one of the 3 or 4 therapists that are in-network around you. The bad: The price, although Betterhelp is more affordable than most services they also don't directly bill insurance, which means that insurance companies will consider this to be an out-of-network expense and the coverage will reflect that. My insurance company is covering $0 of my Betterhelp subscription so that $140/month price tag is a lot harder to swallow, Bettterhelp either needs to start working with insurance networks or they need to implement a more selective program to provide reduced rates to those who need it (example: submitting pay stubs or bank statements proving your inability to pay), Considering that Betterhelp offers up to 30% off intro promo codes this is definitely something that they could do they just choose not to. Additionally I have found the Live chat interface to be clunky and it needs the ability to save your messages.

I found my person. I was really worried about dating and not having found my person. My parents are divorced and I never really understood how to recognize a healthy man, relationship, etc. I've also been through a fair amount of trauma (could write a long and very shocking book about it). After talking with my therapist for 7 months and walking through the things on my mind before, after, in between dates, etc. I understood what I needed for myself and what a healthy relationship looks like. One of the best things is that I could send texts to my therapist when I was having thoughts and she always got back to me with exactly what I needed to expand my mind and thought process further. I finally met my person, I must say that I really think it’s because I was able to talk to Robin through all of the thoughts I was having. I’m so happy that I made the investment. If you join better help, I sincerely recommend using the resources they give, like texting when something is on your mind, the workshops, worksheets, be 3000% honest even if you’re ashamed of what you’re being honest about. It will take you to a better place, and to the person you aspire to be. Thank you for the help.

Actual therapy from actual therapists !. Living in a small town with a great deal of poverty, it is easy to fall into a stereotype when “ needing therapy” The therapists offered in small towns are generally under paid and often less skilled in my opinion, due to the clientele. The bar is set LOW, and we can get a negative experience. They are so used To dealing with individuals who often lack basic life experience, people skills, have never been employed, abuse the system, etc. They lump everyone into a category and overlook how far along some of us are in our healing journey and that we just need support. Better help’ has excellent therapist that don’t talk to you like you are less than, or assume you are uneducated, etc. Yes it costs money, but you are paying for what you Get. I wish they could accept insurance. Maybe someday. This is actual therapy and I have high expectations. I strongly recommend it if you are someone who lacks faith in traditional therapy covered by government sponsored insurance. You can fill out a small survey about your hopes in a therapist and they supposedly match you. It seemed to work for me so far.

Worth doing beyond the two week trial!. I have done traditional therapy with mixed results, so I went into betterhelp with healthy skepticism. I can honestly say it has been so much more helpful than I could have ever imagined. Yes, they do give you two weeks free, but just like your traditional physical therapist, having 2 sessions just really isn’t enough time to get into things to see if it’s working. If you want to just try it but really can’t consider committing to it, I would say pursue something else, but for those who are genuinely interested in therapy, definitely try it for at least a month. It takes some getting used to, but I can genuinely say having this app and the help has been a life saver for me. Look into applying for a discounted rate on services too! The website can help lower the monthly cost based on some factors you fill out. I can’t stress enough how great this has been- give yourself the genuine opportunity to try it for at least a month, because I was able to navigate the transition from physical therapy to digital within that time, as well as finally get to the heart of my problems with my counselor. 10/10 would recommend.

Great Resource!. I have truly enjoyed my experience with BetterHelp. I suffer from anxiety and my insurance doesn’t cover your regular in person therapy sessions (which can cost $100-$200/ session). This app was a much more affordable route and I get to stay in the comfort of my own home. Which is great because the last therapist I tried was a 80-90 year old woman who loved to crank the heat in her house to the point where I thought I might pass out. But that’s besides the point. I will say that I requested a female therapist and was assigned an older gentleman. But I thought maybe it’s a sign that I’m meant to speak with this therapist, and I am so happy I gave him a chance! We have weekly hour-long calls and we can talk about anything and everything. He is never judgmental. He gives me worksheets to work on throughout the week and he can see when I complete them (so you get called out when you keep submitting them 10 minutes before the session.... oops!) but my favorite part is the goals section. The therapists sets some goal for you and you can move the tracker based off percentage of completion. That method speaks to me! I have recommended this to some friends and I would do the same to anyone in need of someone to talk to

Life Changing!. I knew from a pretty young age I needed to go to therapy for a variety of reasons. However, my social anxiety and fear kept me from seeking it. Fast forward to me turning 30 and realizing none of my issues have magically resolved themselves and that I needed help. I first looked through the therapists my insurance helped cover. I looked at their distance, experience, specialities, etc. I wasn’t sold on anyone and the task of picking who I thought would fit me best and then actually going there to meet them for the first time felt daunting. I remembered seeing an advertisement for Better Help on Facebook and started researching. It was going to be just a little more expensive for me, until I added in the benefit of having access to groupinars and being able to message my therapist whenever I needed to about an issue instead of having to remember to bring it up the next time I saw them etc. I could also do phone sessions or messaging sessions if I didn’t feel up to video sessions. Overall I recommend doing your own research and deciding what’s best for you, but Better Help was the best first step for me and has helped me greatly!

One week and going. So far I have benefited from this app. My therapist was very insightful and a delight to talk to and I’m looking forward to continuing the video chats. Also the app itself has simple but effective features and the notifications are adjustable based on my preferences. I’m not sure how long I’ll need it but the membership is definitely cheaper than going through our insurance. I’ve been on waiting lists to see therapists and I was assigned a therapist in like 24 hrs after downloading it. I honestly can’t complain about anything so far. I haven’t experienced any tech issues and the webinars and video sessions were so informative I feel like I had a year of therapy in a day. But that’s due to where I am personally and knowing what I want from this app. If you are hesitant, try to see it as an investment into your overall health. I think everyone needs a mental health check up, like a physical exam, at least once a year. Try it for a month and set a reminder when the membership will continue. If you don’t like it, don’t renew, but I suspect, you may just let it renew, because we all need to be our emotional best if we expect the rest. Be well!

Extremely Beneficial. The app is very beneficial to those of us that do not want to go to an office, have a busy schedule, or that just want a way to interact with a therapist in a multitude of ways. Offering text chat 24/7, video or audio sessions, and the ability to schedule your sessions with a couple clicks of a button (all depending on your therapists schedule of course) makes it so easy to use. There are also a plethora of therapists to be paired with and you have the option to try other ones as well if one does not seem to fit just right. I was lucky enough to not have that issue but the fact that it is an option is wonderful so that you do not have to worry about being stuck with someone you do not want to talk to and help you with whatever you have going on. The app also seems to match you based off of many different factors that are entered in by the user to hopefully match you with the right one the first time just like they did for me. I encourage anyone who thinks they may need to consider trying out therapy to use the app as I personally never would have been able to do it without it’s help.

Better late than never. I’ve always stated that I needed to do therapy and seemed to put it off time after time. Days, weeks, months, and years have gone by and I haven’t committed due to misplacing my finances elsewhere as a father, but I finally took the bait and after one therapy session, I do feel heard and gained better insight on my life for me. Most times I take advice from podcast I listen to and make it apart if my life, but that’s not feasible in the long run. Eventually, you have to reach out to someone for yourself and have guidance based on where you are right now and BetterHelp supplies all that is needed to ensure that you walk away from your preferred sessions with something significant to think about. It’s never too late to take charge of your mental health and it will be beneficial for you in the long run as long as you commit and take the first steps necessary. The monthly fee was one to turn me away on multiple occasions, but they do tend to help with the cost that way you get the most out of your time. I look forward to furthering my progress with BetterHelp and hope this will be one of the reviews that will further persuade others ti give it a shot for a month and some change.

Better than therapy in an office. I was skeptical at first when I signed up for this program. They matched me with the PERFECT therapist. She is knowledgeable in every area of the issues that I’m working through. She is so easy to talk to. I never feel judged, she is a good listener, and gives me the best approach to handle my troubles. I know that this is going to be a long journey but I’m so thankful for my therapist. It’s not the traditional therapy where you feel like an object in the room being judged with every response you make. The questionnaire when you are first signing up is critical in matching you with the right therapist. I used to not be so honest on those for fear of judgement. I’m at a point in my life where I want the most help I can get. We shouldn’t be embarrassed of our past. To get the proper help we must be vulnerable and disclose our problems. If we don’t, we will never get the proper help we need. I recommend this app and service with all of my heart. I never give apps a rating. This one deserves it though. If I can shed light on anyone getting the help they need and deserve, it’s worth it.

Not enough therapist due to covid19. I would give this app a full 5 stars but....during the week that I had signed up and paid for, I was not able to be placed with a therapist. Just a heads up for anyone who is thinking about downloading this app because of the numerous amount of ads placed by them, be aware. Before you decide to pay for this app just think about the high demand of people that are using this app as of now. Because of that, they are struggling to find enough therapists, to keep up with there demand of customers. I waited 2 weeks(I knew that covid19 had affected the waiting times that’s why I waited so long before canceling mys subscription) unfortunately, they weren’t able to place me with anybody. Don’t get me wrong, This App is great. During my time, I did enjoy attending the groupinars they have, while I waited. It is quite expensive (even with the discount they provide for people with low income) but you pay it monthly and can cancel anytime and get a full refund. If you are willing to wait more than a couple weeks for them to find you a therapist, then this app will be great for you....HOWEVER, if you are impatient (like me) or are really looking/in need of help right now...better off looking somewhere else. Overall good app but right now they are in over there heads.

Great Service, Great Price. Though I have spent many years with one counselor, psychologist, or psychiatrist or another, it has been several years since I’ve seen anyone. I was contemplating trying to find someone local, but it’s an arduous and often expensive task. When I discovered BetterHelp (probably from an ad on a podcast), I looked into it for several days before I took the plunge. The first professional I was paired with didn’t work out for scheduling reasons, so I kept looking and found “my” Cecelia. Our weekly video sessions have been the highlight of my week for the past month, and she is delightful…but if I change my mind, that would be no problem: there are hundreds (if not thousands) of licensed professionals to choose from. I have enjoyed several of the webinars (among many offered), and found each of them to be beneficial, and I am taking advantage of the built-in journal, with entries that can be shared with your clinician at the touch of a button. I also appreciate that diagnoses aren’t a priority (I don’t know if they’re even available): I’m not pathological, I just needed someone objective and nonjudgmental to talk to. Thank you, BetterHelp!

BetterHelp user experience not great. First, the app and website are hard to navigate at first. For instance, my first therapist wasn’t showing available slots for me to book. There’s nothing on Better Help’s site/app to let me know I had to wait for him to open up slots. I also wish that in general, I knew what my therapists hours are before being matched because their hours are often not my hours. Second, I found scheduling to be very difficult. I’ve tried two therapists and both were extremely difficult to schedule. I also wish there were reviews for some therapists. I know that sometimes it’s not a fit, but the second therapist I was seeing showed up 5-15 minutes late every time and cut off the sessions 5 minutes early so we never had time to talk about anything. After the third time, I realized her excuses were not legitimate, and she was just not interested in being helpful. This level of unprofessional behavior should be something others know about so they don’t go through the same frustration. Lastly, I dislike how I would receive so many notifications to remind me about my appointment but nothing for billing. Now I’m on the hook for another month of therapy despite having had two bad months of experience (or non experience given the lack of therapist availability).

Excellent non-bias space with ability to grow. Being able to journal in a place I know is my own. I don’t have to share it with my therapist if I don’t want to. Personally, I don’t enjoy talking to people in person as much since I’m on the autism spectrum. Better Help has let me be able to feel more confident talking on the phone with my therapist at a time I can choose any time. My therapist gets back with me within 24-48 hours and I typically have 1 phone session with her a week. Can be a little pricey but in the long run saves you the money you would be spending on maintenance of your car (gas, etc.) and traffic time. You can make the call anywhere. This app has been incredibly beneficial to me when I’ve been having struggles in different areas in my life. I feel like I am able to advocate my needs better as well as forming healthier relationships. If you’re willing to put in the work to make change within yourself - then you should definitely use this tool. Things can be really tough but there are professional therapists there wanting to help you through those times and help with your over all mental health. We’re all in this together.

Useful app. They give ya free trial week. And budget wise, it is defiantly a fair price in my opinion. In these new times with the covid pandemic. This is actually a great solution that allows an individual to still obtain private council within the safety of their home. You can do it by phone , text or secured camera, (facetime style, but not the actual app) You can choose the type of councilor you are seeking, and personal preferences such as male or female, etc. And if you are not comfortable with who the system selects for you, then you simply choose to change council. No harm, no fowl. You also have a personal secured journal log that you can either choose to share your entry, or keep it private for just yourself. And if you can not afford the app and services at the current time... dont let that stop you from seeking help if you desire it... they have MAJOR DISCOUNTS available if you are going through tough financial times. They also have VETERAN DISCOUNT!!! For me, that went far! Thanks to my personal councilor and the webinar councilors that share their advise and input. This has been very helpful for me so far... the only reason i did not issue it 5 stars and 4 instead, is cause there is a small glitch in the vid chat that automatically ends the therapy session after a certain time.

Irresponsible company. Cannot overstate how terrible an experience I had. I would highly recommend you stay away from this site and seek help through a different avenue. After handing over upwards of $200 I was matched with a “professional.” When I talked to her I told her I suffered with depression and excoriation disorder. She was unfamiliar with the latter diagnosis which is annoying but it’s happened to me before. When I explained the diagnosis to her (which in itself is a failure that I had to do that) she told me that she couldn’t treat me. Frustrated, I switched therapists and luckily found a man who seemed to be eager to listen to me and treat me. But, the next day I tried to log in to my account and I wasn’t allowed. I emailed asking what’d happened and I got an email back from the company saying “online therapy isn’t suitable for everybody.” When I mentioned I’d found a more knowledgeable therapist on their site who was eager to treat me, they said there was nothing I could do and I was no longer allowed to use the site. I’m sure some of the therapists on there are wonderful, but BetterHelp as a company doesn’t take responsibility for the quality of care they provide and need to be held accountable. Also, see this video for some information on how they use marketing tactics to take advantage of vulnerable people seeking help. Search “pewdiepie betterhelp” on google. It’s the first video that comes up.

Can be great option, counselor quality varies. UPDATE: after a couple weeks I found an option in the app to request a new counselor. Why support NEVER responded to let me know I don’t understand. But within a day or two I was assigned someone new who is great! She actually responded thoughtfully to the same background info I gave my first therapist and we just had our first call which went well. My biggest critique at this point is the fact that it’s simply luck on whether you get someone good the first time. If not at least you can change. I had high hopes for this app as a way to fill in the gaps between my regular therapy sessions. However, after providing a lengthy introduction to my counselor I received zero feedback or acknowledgment of my current situation. During our first live chat they had technical issues and our session got cut to 15 minutes with no real discussion. The counselor asked me about my situation as if coming in cold without ever reading reading my initial posts. Following that my counselor has managed to respond once per day and shows very low engagement. I reached out to support and have received zero response after a week. I understand some counselors will not be up to par but this experience is very disappointing to say the least.

NEVER again. Worst experience. I signed up and the first counselor i was assigned to did nothing but send me work sheets and type supportive messages to my responses. My brother even mentioned to me this company had horrible reviews after it was exposed there were bogus dr’s here. When emailed and asked how i was liking my trial, they tried to rectify this by extending it for 3 days. I was assigned a new counselor who had strict hours so i barely was able to participate before my trial ended. This counselor was much better. The day before being billed, i was notified. I attempted to cancel and was faced with MANY questions. The first few of which have pop ups redirecting your attention and asking you to perform tasks for closure and etc. how i would rate blah blah and would I recommend blah blah. A good about 10 questions with secondary pop ups. It’s truly insane. I ended up getting aide tracked with all the extra work and never got to cancel. They attempted to bill me for the month, the funds were not there. I thought it would just decline. Instead, they took all i had in my bank account. At this point I'm FUMING. I google the number to call just to find out her only job is to answer phones and send along emails of my frustrations. In turn I'm expected to wait atleast 1 business day to even see about getting a refund. I cannot pay my phone bill or work now..... what therapy this has been!

Anti therapy & now highlight of my week. I’m writing this from a point of view of a person that not only really never embraced therapy but was almost against it. I even have my oldest daughter as a therapist and still felt I could conquer my issues on my own. Like how could somebody understand and have opinions on my traumas and shortcomings that didn’t know me, I felt it absurd. BetterHelp has not only allowed me to do it my way but has allowed me to embrace it and actually look forward to my private sessions and group sessions with so much clarity and tools that now I’m only upset I didn’t start sooner. My therapist, Christine Kelley, has slowly got into my psyche in a way that feels she’s known me for years. From her metaphors to constantly giving me the tools in worksheets etc. I feel consistently prepared to tackle what life is bringing me. She allows me to be 100% myself and reminds me to be kind to myself while still holding me accountable and reminding me why I am on this journey. Truly couldn’t be happier with my progress and with the app as a whole. Thank you Christine and thank you BetterHelp!!

BetterHelp-therapist is Amazing. I was having a very rough time Christmas 2021. Decided to get online to find some help, anticipating the usual, no one will respond in a timely manner or at all, had tried a few times already. Read up on Betterhelp and decided to go with it, I was a mess, desperate needing to talk with someone. I reached out to BetterHelp on the Sunday after Christmas, they had me answer a few questions so they could find a good therapist to match me up with, based on my circumstances. Didn’t I get a response that SAME evening! It had only been a very short time since I submitted my request, I don’t even think it was an hour, let alone the day after Christmas! Bless her heart!! - Karin, the therapist that Betterhelp matched me up with. That right there said ALOT to me!! We set up a meeting, which takes place on our phones. We meet weekly via phone, she sends very helpful information with no pressure, just information she feels may help, she checks in periodically to see how I’m doing…couldn’t ask for a better therapist!! Thank you Karin! From the bottom of my heart! I don’t know what I’d do without you!!! Thank you Betterhelp!! Truly, Patty B

Truly Better. Better Help linked me with a therapist that I never could have found on my own in a million hours. I have poured a lot of time and effort into finding someone that could really impact my journey to wellbeing; I only found therapists who were not transparent, not interested, too busy but still taking on clientele, or just didn’t feel right for me. Initially the first therapist I had been assigned through Better Help was not great for me. I was able to immediately reconnect through suggestion of Better Help. I was able to provide honest feedback without fear of any judgements or retribution on the therapists behalf, and connected with someone else who is a perfect fit. BetterHelp went a step further by reaching out via email and apologizing for the experience. They gifted me a free week to make up for the loss in time with therapy, and I couldn’t be happier with their dedication to their clients. Therapy should be easy, and Better Help makes it a point to provide that accessibility. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much Better Help. This is the beginning of something beautiful.

Amazing service. I’m seeing a lot of bad reviews swearing up and down that this service is a scam, wants to steal from you, and/or doesn’t care for its clients. I can tell you right now that those people couldn’t be anymore wrong. I suffered with panic attacks for three months before I started looking for affordable counseling, and found it at betterhelp! I applied for financial aid and received a 40% off for a whole month! I went to them for help very late at night and had been matched with a counselor within an hour, and he was eager to have a video session the next day. After my session he gave me so many tips, tricks, and information and I could already feel my fears going away. Aaron Dutil was a great counselor and gave me some exercises to use at bootcamp, (which date has now been changed to the 22nd). He always checked up on me when I didn’t contact him and gave me some self therapy to use which was very helpful. If it wasn’t for betterhelp I would still be having panic attacks and anxiety, but thanks to this app I’m free from them. The only problem I had was being charged for a whole month when I was planning to cancel after 2 weeks, but customer service was very fast and refunded me no problem. Thank you betterhelp, because your service gave me my life back.

Totally unprofessional. For some reason I was placed with a therapist on the opposite side of the country from me. That's a three hour time difference. My first therapist talked to me while doing chores around her house. I gave it a shot but it was impossible to feel like this person cared about me so I asked to be placed with someone else. This person, also on the opposite side of the country, made it very clear that Betterhelp was a means for supplementing her income as a regular in person therapist. She did video calls with my whole driving home from her office and frequently inattentive. On our last session, we began a video call as she was walking out of her office, continued as she was driving home, and when she finally sat down she actually fell asleep mid sentence. I ended the session because she was fully asleep... This is not real therapy. Betterhelp is not paying these people enough to live off of and they're obviously not vetting people to make sure they're actually licensed therapist. This is just another gig-economy scam and it's one that could have seriously damaging consequences. You'd be better off saving your money and finding a nearby graduate therapy program with a clinic. You'll end up working with students, but they're people who actually want to be real therapists and they're supervised by licensed therapists. Betterhelp is an out-and-out dystopian scam.

Way too expensive with no flexibility to schedule. It took a couple times to find the right therapist, but I finally did. She was very helpful and I’m thankful for the video/call feature, as well as the option to text if needed. I didn’t find use for the group sessions (mostly because the ones that would pertain to me, a 24 y/o person who just started working) were in the middle of the day and I work 9-5. What bothers me about this app is that it’s so expensive. I know they offer financial aid, and per session it can be reasonable compared to market price BUT you can’t use insurance, AND you are forced to pay weekly and do weekly sessions. I know I only need bi-weekly, and can only afford bi-weekly monetarily and with my schedule, but it’s not an option. That makes this app completely unreasonable for working people who work the typical 9-5 schedule. It’s unaffordable and inflexible for their needs. I wish they’d do better about that aspect, because I had to cancel for that reason despite still needing treatment and liking my therapist. And that really is unfortunate. Additionally, the app itself is not user friendly. It’s glitchy, and the journal feature needs some updates. I don’t like that by sending your journal entry to your therapist, it sends it to the main chat feed. It feels cumbersome.

Better Help is really Better Help.. This isn’t just a company which employed who are programmed to patronize everything about the company. Finding a good therapist is the same as finding a best friend. Not everyone person is going to be a match and not every therapist is good at their job or not a good connection for the individual. I had two bad experiences w BetterHelp. After the 2nd time I reached out to the company and expressed my frustration with therapist who seemed to not care about what I was going through and giving incredibly generic responses that allowed them to not dive into the struggles I’ve been having. I immediately received a response and offers to correct this problem and was assisted with narrowing down and specifically picking someone who seemed like a perfect match and then told that the company wants to know when their therapist behave the way I’d experienced because that’s not the kind of help they want to promote. This company cares greatly and they want you to be happy. They will work with your budget and they will listen to you. Don’t be afraid or turn away if things aren’t great right away. The wait is well worth the result.

A bit expensive, worth it as a temporary thing. I have just had my first session using BetterHelp and it felt like any other session I’ve had before. The use of video really helps that. I’m genuinely looking forward to having the opportunity to work on things before I get started with a therapist closer to me that will take my insurance (I have state sponsored insurance rn). That being said, even with some status markers that provided me with a significantly reduced rate, the amount to pay for a month was still pretty steep for my income. I appreciate the air of a sliding scale, but I wish there was more that could be done. I wish that BetterHelp would have a representative for each state to negotiate a way to allow recipients of medicaid/medicare to receive a reduced rate. Many of these state sponsored insurances offer behavioral health coverage. This would open up so much opportunity for some individuals. I’m just lucky enough to have the credit available before starting a new job to get these sessions. I know the work I do here will be beneficial, though, because it seems my therapist has the skills necessary for my life experience.

So far so good. I’ve put off starting therapy again for quite some time. I’ve been to several different therapists before and it just doesn’t seem to be helpful due them doing more talking than listening and feeling that I am more their therapist than they are mine. I decided to try better help out and it has truly been a blessing thanks to my therapist Joseph (Joe) Proctor. He is very sweet, respectful, professional and has already helped by holding me accountable and helping me be truthful to myself and not falling back into my unhealthy cycles. I can’t wait to see where I’m at and how much I’ve grown after a few months of going to him. I love that before we even started our first session, he had me complete a worksheet that asked different questions about me, my issues or things I’d like to work on, what my life would be like if I didn’t have there problems and what goals I have for myself etc. The worksheet had me in tears and was super eye opening which made it very clear that this is exactly what I need and he is the perfect therapist for me. The app has been great and is super easy to use as well.

The Best Help is only a click away. I have tried sitting in front of a person; on a couch; spilling my guts out and they just stare at you. Sometimes giving half decent advice and other times giving “textbook advice” because they either don’t know how to help you or are just there for a paycheck. With Better Help I was able to outline my exact needs without judgment from a receptionist or in person therapist and get matched with a therapist personalized to me. If I am ever in need of changing therapists I can do so with the click of a button but Better Help did an amazing job matching me to my perfect therapist. My therapist is always at my fingertips whenever I need to reach out. Scheduling appointments is a breeze and I love the online group sessions Better Help offers too. The payments are less than going to a in person therapist and what you get for your money is beyond anything I could have imagined. If you are second guessing whether you should join Better Help I am here to tell you without hesitation that you will wonder why you waited so long. Give it a try, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Bad experience with therapist.. BetterHelp overall is great but I had a horrible experience with my last therapist so I’m giving 3 stars. I’ve been with a therapist for approximately 6 months or more and if you would have asked me for my review prior to last Thursday I would have given 5 stars. My last session this past Thursday was appalling. First of all, it seemed like my therapist had me on speakerphone while she was driving.I definitely know she was driving because at one point she yelled at either another car or pedestrians. She was distracted the entire call. The week prior she gave me worksheets to do and told me to make sure to send them. She wasn’t even near a computer to look at them.. Then randomly in the middle of our conversation she quit me. She then gave me appalling advice for moving forward. I want to report her and I also would like compensation because I paid for April and now I’m going to waste valuable time looking for a new therapist and miss sessions. I feel she doesn’t need to work with BetterHelp as she clearly lacks compassion and professionalism. If she felt she could no longer help me she could at least have acted like she cared by not driving during our session and just kindly explained that. Our last session only lasted 38 minutes. Wasted my money.

VERY Helfpul. I stumbled on BetterHelp the day after Thanksgiving but it was Divine timing. I had been wanting to return to therapy for a bit to support my current season of self awareness and mastery. I was nervous about a computer generated algorithm matching me with a therapist but it worked out for me. My therapist is great and I feel heard, seen, supported and challenged to grow and expand how I want already. I’m looking forward to having their assistance along this journey I’m expanding in. The BetterHelp platform itself is very user friendly and easy. There’s a section to journal daily if that’s your thing. You get 1 live session per week with your therapist and can text or voice message them in the app daily and receive timely responses within a couple hours (or less) normally. Obviously if you’re having a crisis or an emergency you wouldn’t want to count on them responding right away so you’ll have to keep that in mind. But for me, if you’re looking to grow, this may be a great option for you. It’s often cheaper than most co-pays for therapy at an office. And with the pandemic going on, it’s a great alternative to still be able to receive the mental and emotional self care that you may want or need.

Rough start joining. I just recently joined and I made sure I did thorough research in this app. I made sure that I looked for my own therapist instead of taking the match up option. I had specific needs and I wanted to find someone that was likeminded. I went through the “find a therapist” link and read through bios. My first choice was a lovely lady that used psychodynamic (past healing) with motivational focusing. She was spiritual as well that focused in meditation and yoga as well as other practices. However, there was an issue in the process of getting to her. I sent many emails to contact customer services and they were very patient and helpful. Long story short. I didn’t end up with her but I did find someone else with similar practices. She’s exactly what I need . And im grateful for BetterHelp to help prolong my renewal fee because of the inconvenience . But don’t give up! They will offer the help and will understand if you haven’t found the right fit. It was hard for me to push myself but I advocated for my mental health and my current counselor is proud of me for sticking up for myself. All in all, don’t give up ! You’re here and looking for help! You will find it

Absolutely lovely! (Read!!). Before, I was not the kind of person that was open minded to therapy, whether it was because I didn’t think it was for me or didn’t think I needed it or whatever I told myself, but the day I decided to turn it all around and that I truly want to get better and not be defeated by everything I’ve gone through, my life changed for the better, as have I!! It’s actually pleasantly affordable especially for everything that comes out of it. I don’t usually write reviews but if there’s anyone out there that’s hesitant about this or nervous I can’t stress how great of a thing it really is. The counselor I was matched up with is lovely and so very skilled, attentive, and passionate about helping me. I only wish the best for everyone else who takes this amazing step. At first this was something I was just going to try out because I was in a very very bad place, and it can be just that but still, now I’ve never been so excited to better myself and make my future so much greater than my past was. I hope anyone reading this will go for it and give yourself the love and care you truly deserve. Best wishes and God bless!

Bad experience. I’ve been through a lot of different therapists/counselors who have failed me and this one did not break the mold. First of all, it’s too expensive for the amount of time you get with your person. I forget what the exact price is but it’s around $50 a month just to see your person once a week for only 30 minutes! That’s ridiculous. I appreciate the concept and the software itself is fine but the person I was connected with had an incident on the second week. Keep in mind the first session was basically nothing since it takes more than 30 minutes just to introduce each other. In reality it’s around 20 minutes if you take into account that it takes a while to connect and the person decides to leave early. Anyway the person I had had canceled all her appointments and had basically wasted two weeks or roughly $20. The people who run the service tried to compensate me by adding two extra weeks but by that point I wasn’t feeling well about the app. None of the people that were open had schedules that made sense for me and the extra time they gave was just going to be used by introduction. Make it at least an hour which is typical for therapy or counseling. By the time you actually talk about the tough situations, you’ve already spent more than $50

Joining BetterHelp was the best decision of my life!. Joining BetterHelp was by far the best decision of my life and I am so thankful for what it is! I have always struggled with depression, and traditional counseling had never seemed to work for me. My life and work life are so hectic with ever changing hours that the app based chatting and the flexible times for video or voice calls, fits my life perfectly. Also, the ability for you to "message" anytime so you're not forced to wait until your next session, I find to be super helpful and beneficial. It allows you to intervene with whats truly going on rather than letting it taking the back burner until your next appointment. Ultimately, the app based approached allows for me personally to make time easily for bettering my mental health than it normally would. But most importantly, the atmosphere that comes with BetterHelp is so comfortable and feels so safe. They do a wonderful job pairing you with a counselor that fits your needs and preferences. And because of that, I feel like I have grown so much already. I never had this much progress nor have I felt so welcome with Therapy before. I could not recommend Better Help enough.

Must Have!. Wow - mental health is so important right now and finding help that is convenient & affordable is honestly a must-have. Better Help is the answer! Texting my therapist really helps take the weight of life off my shoulders when I need it. Her expert insight keeps me accountable & moving forward through difficult areas of my life. The live video sessions are exceptional for so many reasons - super convenient, real connection & I live in a small town where seeing a live therapist in person can feel awkward because “I know everyone in town.” My therapist lives in Texas - a world away - which allows me the freedom to be honest and candid all the time. We have been able to get right up to speed on issues that are critical for me. This is in contrast to in person therapy which often takes a good 2 months to get into a groove. Two weeks in and I’m already making progress. The value is exceptional! There are also so many specific online workshops you can attend! They are really good! The monthly value is exceptional! I am budgeting it into my non-negotiable s from now on. Thank you Better Help!

Helped me find myself. Cons: I had a somewhat bad experience with the first counselor I was with: seemed judgmental and didn’t act like my problems were important but obviously they’re a problem for me- hence the therapy. I think most of these professionals are not actual psychiatrists, which can be unfortunate because sometimes therapy alone is not enough and you need medications/diagnosis. So you may have to see two mental health professionals to get total care. Kinda expensive because they do not accept ANY insurances. Pros: the second counselor I was paired with has been amazing, encouraging, nonjudgmental, and seems to genuinely care. App is easy to use- scheduling is simple. You can use your HSA/ benefits card from your insurance to cover the expenses. Even though my counselor couldn’t prescribe medications she helped point me in the right direction. You can do everything from your phone/ computer, loved not having to leave the house. Overall- I’ve really enjoyed getting the help that I needed from this app. It was easy to switch therapists when I didn’t enjoy the first. Hope this helps and hope you get some relief❤️

worth the money. listen. therapy is very daunting, not only bc you have to talk about sensitive subjects but because finding the right therapist can be a challenge. :)

Not at all what I needed. Do not go for BetterHelp for an option to therapy. I had two therapists. 1) therapist A suggested that my eating disorder was something I did because it felt good. Anyone with an eating disorder knows that this doesn’t feel good at all and ruins your life/happiness 2) therapist B barely ever responded and when she did respond she didn’t bother to read what I had sent her so she just ended up asking the same questions that I had just answered. Example: someone took some pictures of me that sent me into a spiral because of the way my body looked. Therapist B: what pictures? BetterHelp tried to make you feel like you’ll have access to your therapist whenever you need and that is a lie. You might get lucky to be able to schedule one session a week and mine only allowed 30 mins for that session to which she spoke over me the entire time and rushed me. The therapists are so bogged down with online clients that there is NO way they can actually focus on you. My current therapist never remembered what we had talked about and never followed through on her action steps like plans, worksheets, etc. Never offered any solid advice except “be mindful when you eat”. That was it. I’m so glad I paid $200 for a month for someone to tell me to be mindful. Talk to your insurance company and find therapists with sliding scale fees in your area. Do NOT turn to this as your way of seeking help. It will hurt more than help.

The app doesn’t do well with video calling or calls. The service itself is good and worth it. It’s great how you can text in the app anytime. The journaling section is a nice feature too. I like the layout and attention I get from my therapist. The downside is the app doesn’t do that well with calls and video. The video is redirected to zoom for classes. I can’t even use the app on my phone even though it advertises that you can do video directly in the app. For a video call I have to open the website on my computer and be redirected to the zoom app on the computer. For phone calls with the therapist I have to use the phone app. I can’t use the computer for the phone call. I have to be logged in ahead of time and wait for the pop up to accept the call. It was kind of confusing at first as it’s not clear that you have to wait on the texting conversation page for the therapist to send you the pop up link that you need to accept. The phone call can be choppy some times too. I find that headphones with a mic connected to the phone make the call a little clearer. Overall the app is okay and the service is good. I would recommend it.

Scam. I started this on the 13 which mean my subscription should be renewed every 13 of the month. I actually was getting help and stayed. Anyways I trusted them but what I notice they started charging my card earlier each month. It went from the 13th to the 4th of the month. I’m used to subscription they supposed to charge you the same time and email you receipt and stuff. Not them. I’m really frustrated because I decided to cancel my service actually I wanted to pause my service but I now I changed my mind. I can’t trust them with my money and the most questioning part is that they are saying my subscription is ending on dec 31st. How? I started on the 13th it should end on the 13th this is BS. I’m so disappointed with the financial and billing part of the service. That’s not right. They shouldn’t do that. I want a full refund for the month of December. I already sent them 3 emails. They answered asking if I need to change counselor. No I want my money back you guys are ripping people of their money. I had a great counselor I actually wanted to come back but not anymore. I came for help not to be stressed. Some of us can’t really afford this. Some of us really need help. Please fix your payment issue. Cause we don’t need this stress. I never had problems with any subscription. That’s why I didn’t check. Anyways shame on you. I really hope I get my money back.

Annoying Platform, Great Therapist. I love my therapist, she’s incredibly helpful to me & I don’t mind paying an extra $25/week at the moment for two sessions/week because right now I really need it. However, BetterHelp’s platform is so annoying! Glitches every single session on either my therapist’s end or my end (occasionally it glitches for both of us though)! I will say that the video calls seem to be the least glitchy, so I usually end up scheduling those. But still, like if I’m on 10 or so min before my therapist - which happens often because I HATE being late - then I need to refresh the whole site and then get back on the session otherwise I can’t see she’s there & she can’t see I’m there. Or if I change my mic (or attach my detachable mic) after getting on the session, then I’ll also need to refresh. And don’t get me started on live chat. I do that while on cruises, but that’s it because it will show her message, but then won’t let me respond because the keyboard disappears like every single message. And that was while at home once & when I was on a cruise last summer (about 3 times on the cruise). Please fix these issues BetterHelp! I want to give you a better rating!

BetterHelp is a great option!. I haven’t been on this app for very long, but even in that short time I’ve noticed a difference. I really appreciate that I don’t have to make the trek to see a therapist for every session. I can just open my app and there she is! The questionnaire they give you in the beginning is extremely helpful in narrowing down who would be the best specifically for you. I also love the journal feature! It even reminds me once a day so I can remember to write down my thoughts, even if I don’t have much to say. I’ve been struggling for a long time, I still am, but at least I’m getting the help I need now. I don’t have to worry about waiting for weeks to schedule with my therapist. I can do it immediately after any session, without waiting to talk to somebody at a desk. Not too mention how cheap the services are. You really do get more bang for your buck in this instance. The app also has some great group sessions. I haven’t yet explored them, but I will soon! Please get this app. As someone who struggles with getting out of bed and doing basic things for myself half the time this really is helping.
