Please allow loading of custom LUT’s please. I was excited when I learned that Final Cut Pro for the M1 iPad was released which was a surprise. Looked promising but then I find out I can’t install custom LUT’s which is a total deal breaker for me. Also why does the graphics for the skimmer playhead on the timeline play so glitchy and not smoothy? As a professional I love using Final Cut on my Mac but you guys need to make the FCP on the ipad M1/M2 version the same as the Mac version. Stop skimping out. I’m currently looking at making a switch to Davinci Resolve Studio which I have just purchased. Works the same on iPad as Mac and it runs smoothly.

Disappointed in capability. I have recently purchased a Drone and I enjoy editing videos after fun camping trips. iMovie is so limited I have found myself doing all my video edits in DJI’s app. The features and ease of use are so nice I am now using it for all my video edits for my standard videos. I was really hoping final cut provided much more capabilities than iMovie, but it is only marginally better. Some missing features that I find myself using on DJI is variable speed edits and beat stamps on audio files to help with video transition timing. These features exist on the MAC version and I just don’t understand how Apple continues to limit the capability of their software on the ipad. There is plenty of capacity on the iPad’s to add many of these features as other software options have shown. Bummer.

Why not add a play button at the scroll wheel? Scroll and play at the same time!!!. Why not add a play button at the scroll wheel? Scroll and play at the same time!!! That’s so needed!!

Bad Apple, Bad. I have been a HUGE advocate for apple products for years. This was a big day when apple released this to the public. And then I realized the bad. The cost thing is uncool. I don’t care who your trying to get on board. Also, not being able to use an external hard drive. If I wasn’t already so vested in fcpx, I would move to Lumafusion. Just disappointed in apple. Come on y’all. I did try it out with some video and loved it. But just not enough to change what Im doing.

Better than desktop version. Super good. Better than the desktop version for sure. Easy to use, More soundtracks, More graphics, This version is highly capable and amazing, it’s super smooth and has no issues at all .

Great, but missing two things.. As a FCP user for over 15 years, I was excited to see this finally come out. The interface is slick and intuitive, and surprisingly robust with its tool set. I need two things before I can use it professionally: I wish I could store projects on an external hard-drive. I’ve been unable to use this mostly because the footage I’d need for a project is bigger than the empty space left on my iPad. If I could load a project off of an external drive, that would enable me to work on my actual projects. I’m also excited for being able to move from MacOS to iPadOS with a given project. Often I use my computer to invest footage and audio from interviews, sync everything, and categorize my b-roll. Then I’d love to bring my iPad when I travel and pull selects from those multi cam clips, and start to build some sequences.

Needs serious updates. I’m an old FCP user going back to version 3. I was really happy to hear that finally Apple was bringing Final Cut to the iPad. Now I could do edit layout, etc., then when off the road bring into FCPX to finish, color correct, etc. But the iPad version is unusable to me as I don’t really want to import all my clips only to have to the transfer them when I work on my desktop version. Yes, Apple needs to allow FPC on the iPad to work with files that are on an external drive - just like Luma Fusion and DaVinci Resolve does on the iPad. I mean, with the iPhone 15 you can shoot video and save right to an external drive. But FCP on the iPad you can’t. Outside of that, Final Cut on the iPad and a great start.

Its good but has some hiccups. It feels a bit clunky at times. Trimming clips is a bit odd because for some reason you can’t just cut a clip (the controls for trimming clips is not intuitive in any way, it’s honestly unnecessarily annoying), it adds a “Gap” in place of the clip you deleted and it’s completely unnecessary. Also separating audio from clips is nonexistent. Instead you have to use a work around by expanding the audio and deleting the video, but if you get rid of the “gap” clip it deletes the audio. If you add clips above the audio it messes up the timeline and you can’t adjust it effectively. With some streamlining of basic features this really could be a great substitute for desktop editing software. It’s usable and a lot better than imovie, but I still use iMovie for basic sequencing of footage and separating/adding audio from clips. I’m definitely going to use Final Cut for a while, but until basic functions are less tedious to execute ill be using iMovie in tandem. I’d say give it a shot, but not to expect a direct substitute for Mac or desktop Final Cut or premiere pro.

Overall useful, needs external monitor full screen. Connecting the iPad Pro to an external monitor makes it more useful. Some apps support full screen, except for Final Cut Pro. It would be nice if it supported full screen on an external monitor.

A Little Disappointing. I am super in love with the OS version and was excited to have the option of ‘on the go’ editing on my iPad. For the most part, I have worked around some of the issues with the app (like constantly having to sign in). Needs improvement: - separating audio in multicam clips prior to editing - the arrangement of the windows being opposite of the OS version - not being able to hide the window of media, etc. - not being able to work from a hard drive or attached media - easily going back and forth to OS - more choices when in inspect What I do like: - the jog wheel - the transitions and title choices - being able to use my own font choices - using animate for key framing - using the Apple Pencil for title creation - easy exporting - that it’s an option!!! Hopefully future updates address some of these things, so that I can change this review as I wanted to LOVE it!

Constantly Having To Sign In To Edit. I don’t mind to pay for this app, but having to constantly sign in to edit is driving me crazy! Also, where is the stabilization? And the fact that you can’t edit off of a hard drive makes this almost useless for anyone who wants to use this beyond personal use.

Good Start, but…. I am a fan of Final Cut Pro coming to iPad! For most of my work, it has been a pretty incredible, freeing experience. Being a remote employee, I can finally work connected the cellular networks and perform medium grade edits on the fly. What I am looking forward to seeing is MORE plug-ins. I could use a bit more options as I no longer use a MacBook for my daily tasks and find the compromise to be worth it for my workflow. Currently my biggest issue is FCP has crashed and will NOT reopen. I could try to do a wipe, however, that’s a tall order given the amount of data I have, the entire setup with work security, and so on. Really hoping I don’t have to do a wipe to get it to work seeing I utilize this app about 2x in a given workweek. Keep up the good work  although I would like to see better stability and more features, even if slowly rolled out. I had to give it 3 stars as minus 2 is due to lack of plug-ins at this time AND the fact that you do risk the app simply stuck in the “loading” phase, which makes it unusable.

Very Disappointed. I expected much better performance from this app. It has been crashing non-stop on my 12.9” M2 iPad Pro 1TB Model with Cellular. I paid a lot of money for this machine and was really waiting on this software release. I am hoping it is just buggy and not an issue with my brand new iPad not being able to run it due to hardware limitations. I hope Apple can fix this issue ASAP. It’s really making me reconsider my purchase and ask for my $$ back. May have to switch over to different editing software, which would be a shame.

Why did you put a subscription?. Subscription based apps are awful. I know everybody else has been doing it but please Apple don’t copy them. Please just keep it a one time purchase because with a one time purchase you feel like you actually own it more but when I buy a subscription it just feels like I’m borrowing something temporarily and I have to pay money every month. And if I would’ve bought this because of that, I’m gonna cancel it sooner or later. It might make more money but it’s just worse it’s terrible. because I just think to myself why and then I just say no. So I just think Final Cut Pro more like final moment I’d be thinking about Final Cut Pro and logic pro for iPad. I’m sticking with iMovie.

Excellent First Version Of The App. The more I use this app, the more I like it. It is feature-rich and has some powerful editing features. At first, I didn’t understand how to use some of the features, such as how to move key frames in the audio time line. After checking out the Ripple Training tutorials, things made better sense. Yes, I paid the $29 for the full version of the training, but it was worth it. At this point, I am doing most of my video editing using Final Cut for IPad. I had an M2 iPad with 512Gigs of Ram but ended up returning it for the 1 TB version. The M2 iPads with 512 Gig and below have 8 Gig of internal Ram. That left a little jumpiness in the video editing. (My projects have about 12 Gigs of footage.) When I moved to the 1 TB iPad, which has 16 Gigs of internal Ram, everything became completely smooth, even when working with large 4K uncompressed footage.

interface meh. This app has Final Cut DNA all over it. I like it a lot for that reason. It’s shortcomings have already been discussed. Since my main work is 30-second PSAs, I’m not overly bothered that you can’t edit from off-pad storage - yet. The dealbreaker for me is the fixed layout. Once I’ve imported my media and have moved on to editing, I prefer the preview screen on the right, the default for most editors. Was the designer left-handed? I’m right handed and don’t like having to constantly reach across the screen to interact with the preview panel, the inspector, the adjustments. All those panels should be on the right. I may opt out for that reason. It may seem trivial, but over the course of a project it gets me down.

A good beginning. Final Cut Pro for the iPad at the beginning of its re Ease had people excited for the future of video editing on the iPad! It had my hopes up as well h til I went to edit a project, the lack of features like color grading and the tediousness in which you have to key frame. Over all the app needs help in the design department. But it’s a good start

Meh. I’m glad apple is trying to make use of M1 and M2 enabled iPads but this is not the the app to do it, it lacks support and features that are available on LumaFusion and DaVinci Resolve that are also a onetime purchase and have all the missing functionality so if you are looking for a beginner level experience this is it but outside of that just get LumaFusion or DaVinci Resolve

1.3 update broke audio. I used Final Cut Pro for iPad nearly daily since it came out, but the 1.3 update has me looking for alternatives. The interface is significantly slower; there’s now a several second delay in hitting play to when things actually start to play. Additionally, every few seconds the audio will cut in and out, and this is by far the most egregious issue. Initially I thought this was an AirPods issue, but it’s still a problem using the iPad speakers. I cannot use this app in its current state and would give it 0 stars if I could. I’ll give them a few days to get a patch out - after that, I’m cancelling my subscription. Fix this, Apple! This is unacceptable for any price other than free. You had a PHENOMENAL iPad app that revolutionized my mobile workflow, and you ruined it with a half-baked update.

Half-baked, feels like an early beta. I was very excited for FCP for iPad. It’s got some neat features and I’m sure updates will improve it, but there are some glaring issues that make it easy for me to stick with LumaFusion for now. 1) No scrolling timeline (the playhead will scroll off the screen and that makes very little sense). The way LumaFusion does it is far more intuitive IMO. 2) No ability to edit from an external SSD 3) No support for full screen external monitor display (LumaFusion does) 4) LumaFusion has a Storyblocks subscription integration that makes it easy to find royalty-free music, sounds, etc. Nothing in FCP yet. 5) No third party LUT support. 6) You can’t copy/paste or multi select clips and apply the same effects. You have to go one by one which is insane. 7) The performance on my M1 2TB iPadPro 12.9 (5th gen) is ok, but it’s much smoother in LumaFusion.

No subscription unless…. I spent $300 on the Mac version. I asked and asked and asked if the iPad Pro would get FCP. No info what so ever. Why? Why can’t they let us know? Now they release the iPad version. I have to pay a subscription? NOO! If you paid the big bucks for the Mac version the iPad version should be part of the deal. If you don’t have the desktop version then yes, I see value in it. But no subscription if you paid for the Mac version. What…? Apple needs more revenue? Gimme a break.

Crashed and app closed. I am using latest iPad Pro 12.9 m2 16gb ram 1 tb Just used two 4k clips and one song then it crashed. But so far the app is looking good and of course with some updates it will be best, which I am looking forward too. I bought the iPad for this app by the way!! And will change my rating to 5 stars once optimized to perform better!

Great start. I’m really enjoying editing using FCP on my iPad Pro. The only two thinks I hope that are added are the ability to mark spots on a timeline so I can circle back on a specific clip. The second item is a biggy and that’s the ability to edit off of an SSD, I know that there are bigger sized iPads but it doesn’t make sense to upgrade my iPad just for storage. Editing off of an SSD would be a big plus over other video editing apps on the iPad.

No external drive support means this is just iMoviePro. How can anyone take this seriously if you can’t use an external drive holding all the media? I’ve chosen the annual option but will cancel during the trial unless we’re told we can expect external storage options in a future update that will work on M1 iPad Pros and not on updated hardware. Media bins for organization is missing. No stabilization. No Bézier curves on keyframes (easing). No Mask tolerance settings in scene removal. XML support or transferring the project to another device is lacking. Tons of other things missing like heavily used shortcuts. For now, it’s just iMoviePro. Hopefully things will progressively get better.

Live Drawing buggy and so far crickets from apple support. FCP Live Drawing on my 5th generation iPad Pro doesn't show the Done button. I have to kill to FCP app and restart it to get back to the main screen. Everything is upgraded (FCP 1.1, ios 16.6) and I've tried restarting, and also removing/reinstalling the app. No reply from Apple Support when I first reported it several weeks ago. I was hoping it might be addressed in the latest upgrade, but now it doesn't even show the image in the Live Drawing screen. Other buggy little things (some were fixed in the last release) but this one is the most frustrating because I wanted to use it!

A GOOD START But…... It’s a pretty good start. There are many issues but that is to be expected right out of the gate like this. Coming from other more robust video editing software (MAC Version of Final Cut, and Premiere Pro) if you use those programs heavily as a professional like I do this isn’t quite the video editing replacement we’ve been hoping for for iPads. Simple little things that bog down work flow like, no video stabilization, finicky timeline adjustments to clips, and a lackluster graphics/effects options had me retreating back to other programs on a desktop or laptop to utilize those features or better options. However, the bones here are indeed fantastic and with a little developer support and learning from consumers I could see this program eventually becoming a complete replacement of those programs and I could travel with just my IPad which I am excited to do. But it just isn’t quite there yet. For now I will stick with my MacBook and I will edit this review when the program matures a bit.

It's good. It's good. I'm looking forward to it being great. There are many bugs that I'm sure will get worked out over time. You can't edit holding the iPad in portrait mode although I did get it to work once which I think was a bug. It was really comfortable and it was a nice experience while it was working but I haven't been able to get it work in portrait orientation again. Speaking of bugs, I'm writing this review inside of FCP and the text is black on a dark grey background. I can barely read what I'm typing. it's a promising start but don't jump in both feet first or you're likely to be frustrated. The app has presets for vertical video if you're creating social media content and I'm looking forward to actually editing that content in the portrait mode of the iPad. I'm sure it will get there. FCP has always been such a refined experience. It's the classic It just works that you get from Apple. right now it feels like a mix between a truly useful app for the iPad Pro and also something I'm paying a subscription to beta test.

Not Ready For Primetime. I haven’t dived that deep into FCP, however, it’s lacking many features and is still pretty buggy. I can’t believe it doesn’t let you detach audio! Plus - the spacebar to launch the “Play” feature seems to only work 50% of the time. I have to quit the app and reopen to bring back that very BASIC FUNCTION. I really wanted to LOVE this app. I’m a working editor and I LOVE FCP for OS. However, IOS nEEDS some LOVE & ATTENTION Apple!! I prepaid for a Yamato, so I’m not giving up just yet. However, for now - I’m going Batak to LUMSAFUSION for IPAD.

Subscription is not good, and app crashes. First of all they should not be offering this in a subscription only. I will only use it once a year, so I will simply just unsubscribe and then subscribe again next year when I need it. I guess it might be cheaper in the long run for me, but still I would rather just own it. The app also keeps crashing on me. I am running it on a M2 IPad Pro, so it shouldn’t have any issues. It will freeze quite a bit, and then just crash. I would expect a apple made app to run better on their top of the line iPad.

Crashes every 10 seconds. I just don’t understand what is going on with Final Cut. When I first got it it worked fine. Then an update caused it to crash. Then another update seemed to make it better. Two weeks ago it was updated again and now it crashes all the time. Today it is crashing literally every 10 seconds. I can’t even export the project to try it in a different editor. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I am way behind on a project that I was supposed to have finished last week. This is unacceptable and I don’t think I am getting any value for my subscription. Apple Please fix this!!!!!

…. I am fairly new to video editing from an iPad and was highly suggested Final Cut pro as one of the best apps to help edit videos. I can say it is good but a few things are missing from this app. Video stabilization being one. Hopeful that updates will come soon! Having to pay a subscription isn’t the greatest either, as on Mac you only have to pay once.

Pure fun. Yes, there are features missing and the inability to edit on an external drive is frustrating but this is just version 1.0 and the subscription model gives Apple an incentive to update and improve. What is here is just a delight to use. It’s designed from the ground up for a touch-based interface and is fun and fast. I love Resolve for long, complicated projects but Final Cut is my now go-to for shorter edits with quick turnaround. It’s stable and intuitive and did I mention fun?

Couldn’t Stay Angry at FCP for IP. I’m a commercial editor who can’t resist working on an occasional project on the iPad. Had high hopes for FCP/IP until I discovered editing from external drives and round-tripping with FCP/Mac wasn’t enabled. But I started playing with the app anyway. Despite it’s lack of features available on FCP/Mac, FPC/IP is a pleasure to use. When I need to include corporate artwork, e.g. lower third supers, I can create them in a vector app, e.g. Illustrator, Affinity Designer, saving as PNG, them import them to FCP. That’s a big deal. In the mean time, you CAN export your FCP/IP projects (Libraries) created on your iPad to an external drive — then delete the original off the iPad — and later, re-import your library to your iPad and keep working. The process is an extra step, but so far, it works well. In the mean time, here’s hoping Apple will continue to develop features for FCP/IP at a far, far faster rate than they did for FCP/Mac.

Thought it was good but…... UPDATE: ITS CRASHING EVEN MORE!! Then Apple contacted me they were going to fix it but never did! What am I paying for?? Now it’s a 1 star rate app. I was so excited to finally be able to use this app. But it KEEP CRASHING and not saving my work. I should have just kept Adobe Premiere Pro. Never had this problem. This app has crash three times since I’ve been using it and that if for TONIGHT. One night and it’s crashed three times. Not good Apple. What are we really paying for???

Crashes a lot. I’m trying the app and for some reason it crashes a lot. And the multicam syncing has given me too many heartaches that make the clips unusable. I hope things improve in the next update. I also really want to be able to access any timelines from inside the project and not have to go out to the home page to change timelines.

My iPad Pro is finally useful. I don’t know why apple dragged their feet for so long on this, being that the iPad with M1 & M2 chips have been more than capable of running Final Cut, but that being said, I can finally take my video edit workflows over to my iPad Pro and get some use out of it. I was really regretting the purchase when I realized there weren’t many apps (until recently) that really fit my needs and utilized the processing power of the iPad Pro. I’m so glad its finally here. The interface is familiar and intuitive. I haven’t found the ability to make compound clips yet, but maybe that’s not available or coming in a future update. Also, I’ve only been using it for about an hour — so maybe its there somewhere. But I’m really glad to see that I can easily make mulitcam clips, as that’s what I primarily use it for. I saw that LumaFusion added multi cam for an additional purchase, which I would have begun to use if this didn’t come out. Glad its here. Great work Apple!

I was excited…. The app, which I was extremely excited to see coming to the iPad, is a let down. I mean, Lumafusion has been my go to app for video editing for awhile now, & in my opinion, is leaps & bounds better than FCP in every way. This surprises me as FCP has always been highly recommended & is built by Apple to work on Apple products. I’m going to continue to tinkering around on it until the trial is over, but I’m highly certain I’ll be canceling it as of now. If that changes, I’ll update the review.

No External Storage. I was excited to try Final Cut Pro for iPad. The app itself seems like it could be useful, but without external drive support it’s basically useless for me. I’m actually surprised that Apple would release a subscription only application that is missing a vital feature! If Apple ever updates the application to fully support external drives I will probably give it another try. As for now, I don’t really recommend Final Cut Pro for iPad. For me it was just a waste of time (and most importantly resources…).

Needs external SSD support. I’m no pro videographer but I have a need for cutting and editing some GoPro and iPhone clips every now and then. I love how easy this app is to use but the fact that you must have all media loaded to the onboard iPad memory is ludicrous. The 1tb iPad is like $400 more than the base model and the 2tb is $400 more than that. I refuse to be price gouged for that kind of memory when I can build a 2TB external nvme m.2 drive for ~$120 If/when this app allows us to import and edit media directly on an external drive it'll be my go-to. Until then I’m staying on DaVinci or LumaFusion.

Uninstalled same day.. I am a Software Designer of 11 years, specializing in USER EXPERIENCE design. I have been a video Editor for 20. Like all other video editors for mobile devices, this falls way short of the mark. There is no way to detach audio from clips. You can’t easily do L cuts. This app is slow and unresponsive. You can’t add video overlays. You can’t add image overlays, just titles. Like all other mobile video editors, this is impossible to use and I am uninstalling this poorly designed piece of software. Shame on you, Apple. You should be better than this.

Charged for in app training tutorial ( Joke ). I was very excited for Final Cut to come to iPad. Seems to work ok for being a scaled down version of one of the greatest editing apps on the market however. Some of you might want to use the in app tutorial to get started and learn the very basics. Well the first 8 or 9 short tutorials work fine and give some very general info but once you click on number 10 a third party app wants to charge you a monthly fee for for last 10 or so short tutorials. Definitely a first for me. Could be a mistake by the creator but is enough for me to pull out and continue using any other editing app until they decide not to milk their customers. Note to developer. I would have been happy to pay a flat fee of around $300 the same as the desktop version over the $49 per year or $5 per month. Not a fan of subscriptions. Will change my review as things progress.

It’s good but have space for improvement. The app it’s really good and working perfectly. But functions like voice over still lacking. Voice over it’s one of the basic functions for who edit videos and it’s kinda complicated to record the audios outside the app and than come back to put on the video. I really hope that this function come soon!

Now I have another choice. I’ve been using LumaFusion as my goto app for video production and therefore got good at it. Very user-friendly. I tried DaVinci then removed it because it was not as intuitive as I thought. Along comes Final Cut Pro and I gotta say I was reluctant at first because I was finding features were missing…until I found them. The one feature which is not in this first version is the Help icon in LumaFusion which, when you press and hold, brings up descriptive annotations for every function on the edit panel. But it looks like FCP/iPad will become my primary now.

Can’t edit on external hard drive. It wouldn’t support the external storage of media. For the those who aren’t aware, Final Cut Pro on the Mac provides two options for file management. You can either have your footage copied directly into the project file or leave it elsewhere (such as on an external SSD). The latter is the preferred option for anyone who values local storage space on their Mac; you simply connect an external drive, drag the footage into your Final Cut Pro project and allow the software to reference its location. You can’t do this on the iPad. As soon as you import footage from your external SSD, it copies it directly into the Final Cut Pro project.

Cannot add outside music. Unless I am missing something, there is no way to add music from your iTunes or any other outside source. On the desktop version you can but for some reason you cannot on the iPad version. The only “music” that can be added is the already included soundtracks. Definitely a major downfall. Other than that everything works great. Easy to learn and navigate.

Another way to get more money. I think this ridiculous that I paid $300 for Final Cut Pro on my MacBook Pro, yet I still have to pay monthly for this. Apple you should have thought that one through. Normal Final Cut Pro users should have access to this without paying. I have Adobe Creative Cloud and whether it is mobile or not I have access to their products. Guess I won’t be using Final Cut Pro anymore!

Love this editor, Wish there was more features. Great app very user friendly a few glitches using the Apple Pencil, with there was a market to find presets from creators.

Very Good, but no Voice Over. I’m fairly new to video editing, but this app has been easy to learn, and is genuinely fun to use. However, it lacks the ability to record voice over, which I hope Apple considers adding.

Subscription based apps are awful. I really don’t like subscription based apps. I do not use 99% of my apps all that frequently so to pay for something monthly or yearly is a huge waste of money for me. And this app doesn’t even have a trial version, as soon as you launch it you must select a subscription base service. That is absolutely crap. Give the users a chance to try it without having to pay first (a free trial month that automatically turns into paying doesn’t count in my opinion as I do not want to have to remember to cancel in time). If this was a pay once app like the Mac version I probably would’ve bought this right away since I use Final Cut Pro on my Mac and I love using my iPad Pro for quick idea creation. I’m very disappointed with this apps business model and for the record I hate subscription based apps (to say again), it’s a greedy business model that makes it difficult for hobbyists and casual users all around.

A familiar platform, coming from the desktop version.. I’ve been waiting for the development of apps that would suit my particular skill set and strengths, being that I’m a classical pianist, from my upbringing years - the point being is that I enjoy working with the concept of a multitouch interface for getting things done in audio and video, which is offered here, for Final Cut Pro. It’ll be exciting to learn about the features offered in this iPad version, and to do work in this app.

Good, but there’s lots of mistakes. I think iMovie is way better and it cost nothing because you can’t VoiceOver you can’t add on FaceTime it’s impossible. It’s very bad on iPad and it saying like iMovie you can’t add in video effects. That’s what I bought this up for two stars

Best Editing App for iPad. I have been editing on iPad for 4 years now, simply because of the versatility and ease of use being able to just pull out your iPad and start editing. However I have always wanted to have a proper video editing software available that’s made to do more than make a TikTok video, which was why I was so happy when I found out Final Cut Pro was coming to iPad. Despite the differences between the Mac version, I have not been disappointed almost all the features available on Mac are here and even more like live drawing and scene removal are available too. However there still are no plugins available but I do know apple plans to add them. Overall if you enjoy editing on an iPad but have wanted something more professional the 50 dollars a year for FCP is for sure worth it.

Really want a one time purchase. It’s good but I want an outright purchase.

Love it, but I want outright payment option.. It’s about time isn’t it? Final Cut Pro was like a unicorn for such a long time. Well, here it is - but the kicker is, you HAVE to subscribe. NOTE: This is Apple’s first subscription app, and likely not the last. Unless we speak up? 1 star from me until they make an outright payment option. Name your price Apple! Don’t follow the crowd, what would Steve say?

Forced against will into subscription model again. It seems as though there are no outright options for people who don’t want to go on a subscription model. Disappointing that after spending over $5,000 on Apple devices in last 12 months they want even more money for services which could be one-off purchases.

Finally, it’s here, missing a few things.. - Plugins, with Vendors ensuring their plugins work on mac using Apple Silicon Architecture, why are they not available on the iPad ? - Lack of Titles, Backgrounds etc that exist on the Mac not available on the iPad - Colour Grading, fine to get started on the iPad. Will need to move to the Mac for fine grained control - Trying to establish a workflow for moving from Mac to iPad and back for Final Cut Projects, hopefully this improves soon. - Works quite well on M1 iPad Pro… Early days yet though. Still, very very happy to have this working on the iPad for on the go work.

Not pto. Just expensive version of Imovie

Editing At Your Fingertips. Never thought I could edit in the front seat of a car. Thanks Apple. Brilliant stuff.

Not free as claimed. Install for free but not until you run it do you find that it is a subscription. This should have been mentioned in the description.

Missing features. At last Final Cut Pro for iPad. It’s much butter than DaVinci Resolve in touch interface and I liked how Apple implemented the jog wheel and how you can manipulate the time line. It still missing features like video stabilisation, advance 3 colour wheel, auto colour, animate effects, no 3D titles and the list goes on. Just to be clear, this is version 1.2 which Apple added more keyboard short cuts, enable/disable clip and iPhone 15 Pro support. Like Final Cut Pro X 1.0 it lack features which Apple eventually added when they released new updates. Hopefully they would do the same with iPad version of Final Cut Pro, if not then this is waste of paying subscription fee.

FCP crashes after trying to subscribe. I have the latest iPad Pro. When trying to subscribe to FCP after opening it, message says Loading, then you get the wheel of death which disappears after a while and nothing happens. Tried installing latest iPadOS 16.5, restarted the device and reinstalled FCP but to no avail. Very unfortunate as I have to edit an urgent project beyond iMovie’s capabilities and my computer is out for repair. I’ve extensive experience with FCP and now I have to learn to use Da Vinci in a hurry. Not good, Apple.

Not pro. There is nothing that indicates this app is Pro. Just an expensive IMovie version Limited in so many ways.

Finally. Been waiting years for this moment

It needs this feature. Speed ramping! For myself and other video professionals this is an essential tool! If it had this I would switch today.

Extremely Unstable for Midsize Projects. At first I was really excited to use this app. I’ve got an M1 iPad Pro with 1 TB of storage. I used it for a couple of smaller projects. Noticed it stumbled a little with dropped frames, but figured this was because the software was new and refinements would come out. Almost 9 months later I’m now working on a larger project and I am shocked at how unstable this is. The app crashes minimum 5-8 times an hour, freezes and is so slow to render. I thought using this on an M1 iPad would be a somewhat good experience. Instead it’s horrible. I’m so disappointed. This is not the standard I’m used to with Apple’s software, they’ve really dropped the ball. Use your Mac or another program. Don’t use this for anything longer then 5 minutes.

Won't load. The app installs, i can tap it and select a sub option but then it just hangs on "Loading...". Tried rebooting ipad, removing and reinstalling etc but no luck. ?

terrible that they want you to pay a subscription. i purchased the full version for my macbook air and now you want me to pay a monthly or yearly subscription for this for my ipad pro?!!? no thank you! rip off.

Rip off. I already paid a fortune for the Mac version. I thought Apple was better than this, charging again for a different device.

Subscription…. One of the main reasons I switched to Apple products is they weren’t jumping into the subscription rip off craze with there high end products. Everyone has been waiting for this iPad version, and now it is just an incredible disappointment. Just terrible.

Thank You Apple :). :)

Subscription!. I’ve already paid full price for the Mac version. Why do I have to have a subscription? I already pay way to many subscriptions every month and this is just another one to my ever ending bills

Great. The IPad world is changing. “I can feel it in the water. I can feel it in the air.” It’s safe now, Adobe, to come out and play.

This should be free for people who purchased Final Cut on Mac. Why should we have to pay twice on Mac and iPad just to be mobile? And on top of that its a subscription? Horrible…

Don’t like the subscription model. I bought the M2 iPad hoping that it can use same software as the M1 MacBook Pro. I was wrong and the long awaited FCP on iPad arrived but not exactly the same and require the annoying subscription. Why no option for perpetual license? Apple have to understand that not everyone like to subscribe. I don’t use Adobe for the same reason.

Honestly, it’s a pretty complete app. I purchased FCPX for my MacBook. But for my traveling, I take my iPad and am able to edit wedding videos. I can edit with my iPad using a keyboard (Smart Folio) and the magic mouse, similar to how i work on my Mac. Would recommend!

Subscription and no Custom LUTs. It isn’t a bad application but users who shelled out large money for the Mac app should get a discount on the subscription. Also the lack of custom LUTs for DJI drone users and others make it a bit limiting. It is a great add on to a Final Cut for Mac workflow and this is another reason why that should be a discount. I would also imagine a future where a subscription for the iPad app and the desktop app would make an option. I hope it will mature over the next year and hopefully some regeneration of Mac Final Cut owners will follow.

I shouldn’t have to pay if I already have it. I thought I could integrate this with my Mac since I already have the app there, but this just proves that Apple is a money-hungry company and will do anything to leech off their loyal customers.

Own the Mac version - Subscription on top No Thanks!. REALLY NOT a great way to encourage the Apple community. Saying you need to pay perpetually for software you have purchased on a different platform ( I own the MAC version). THAT says Apple just wants to take as much from you as possible. Definitely NOT support the community to buy in and / or use the products to create. It’s expensive enough now they want to price it for elite only. Moving over to subscription for everything just pushes people away from the services. It’s a reason to move away from Apple. It’s a shame as it’s a great product.

doesn’t work properly. how do I animate on my videos

Great Features, Some Bugs.. Love the features on this app and how it runs similar to Final Cut for the Mac, however I'm constantly asked to sign-in every time I want to edit a project. Hope they fix this before my free month is up, I’d love to renew and keep it longer.

Subscribe to… I AM ALREADY SUBSCRIBED. Constantly being blocked by their crappy DRM that clearly doesn’t work.

A Promising Editing Tool with Subscription Limitations. With the release of Final Cut Pro for the iPad, Apple aimed to bring this powerful tool to a mobile platform. While it offers a solid set of features and a user-friendly interface, recent changes, including the introduction of a subscription model, have drawn mixed reactions from users. Pros: User-Friendly Interface: Apple's intuitive design philosophy shines through in Final Cut Pro's interface. The app is sleek, responsive, and optimized for touch-based interactions, making it easy to navigate and work with. Cons: Subscription Model: One significant drawback of Final Cut Pro for iPad is the shift towards a subscription-based pricing model. Previously, users could make a one-time purchase and use the macOS app for $299 indefinitely (well to this date). Unfortunately, this change is a bit of a disappointment and many loyal customers who preferred the pay-once-and-use-forever approach. Limited Trial Options: Another concern is the absence of a free trial version. As a result, potential users are now required to subscribe before they can even test the software, making it difficult for individuals to evaluate its suitability for their needs. Challenges for Businesses with Managed Apple IDs: The subscription-based model can present difficulties for businesses utilizing Managed Apple IDs. Previously, organizations could purchase licenses and distribute them among their employees, but now they must manage ongoing subscriptions, if this is even possible? Potentially causing administrative complications and increased costs. Lack of iCloud integration and external media solutions: This can be a significant drawback for professionals who heavily rely on these features. Without iCloud support, seamless cloud syncing and collaboration across devices become a challenge. This limitation hampers the ability to easily access and edit projects across multiple devices or share them with team members. Lack of external media: Furthermore, the absence of an external media solution limits the versatility of Final Cut Pro for iPad. Unlike its desktop counterpart, which allows for easy import and export of media from external storage devices, the iPad version lacks this functionality. Users are confined to the files stored locally on their iPad internal storage, which can be restrictive for projects requiring large amounts of media or the need to work with external storage devices. While it boasts with a user-friendly interface, the shift to a subscription model can be lack luster. I can see the access to iCloud and external Media can be done in future updates. Better also the option to access personal or custom online storage to leverage professionals access to Final Cut Pro. Apple should reconsider providing a trial version and explore alternative pricing options to cater to the diverse needs of users. Additionally, addressing concerns regarding Managed Apple IDs would further enhance the software's appeal to business users.

Subscription is a deal breaker. I hate how everything has to be a subscription. If I can buy Final Cut on Mac and never have to worry about it again, why wouldn't the same be true for the ipad version?

Can’t work with Alpha channel videos. I bought my iPad Pro for this new released Final Cut Pro app, but only to find out it can’t work with alpha channel videos. How can it be named ‘Pro’ and doesn’t even work with alpha channel videos?! Such a disappointment.

Amazing. I’m loving the capabilities of this app

Subscription?. I use Final Cut Pro, so I don’t have to pay a subscription. I’ll stick with Resolve on the iPad.

Monthly or yearly???!!!. Very disappointed with this monthly or yearly plans. Apple lowered its rank to a needy and desperate developer. Please reconsider ur decision and make it one time payment. Thank you

Not usable currently.. No stabliization.... No custom LUTS? This is pretty far from deserving the title Final Cut....

ipad上能用到如此强大的软件. 太令人震撼了

It's not a buyout system, bad reviews.. It's not a buyout system, bad reviews.

I’m done. My $4000 laptop broke for no reason after 3 years. I paid $300 for FCP on it. I got this iPad just to still have some use for it and It doesn’t let me use it without paying a subscription.

Missing 360 video support. I was really hoping for final cut on the iPad to support 360 videos. Unfortunately because it does not support this video format I am canceling my subscription.

Phenomenal. BEST EDITS EVER!!!!

Stuck at the loading screen after I click subscribe. Excited to download FCP for iPad just to subscribe and be stuck at the loading screen. Can I get an added free day to my trial? Really want to try it out and see if it’ll convert me from LumaFusion.

Why do I need to pay again. Literally upgraded from the 4th gen iPad Pro just to use this app, only to find out that you need a subscription to use it???

Monthly subscription. It doesn’t matter if you paid for Final Cut Pro X before, you have to get a monthly subscription for the app

Subscription… Really?. So let me see if I understand this, I paid $$$ for the full FCP version and bought all of it’s extensions for it’s full capability, and now Apple wants me to pay a subscription (like Adobe) for a much watered down, childish version of FCP???? Seriously Apple, even Adobe didn’t stoop that low.

Davinci Resolve is 10x better for their free version. While Apple’s working out whether or not they plan on delivering a pro product for pro pricing, I highly recommend Davinci Resolve instead… Apple shouldn’t be charging anything for this half-baked product.

This. We need a lifetime subscription, just saying

怎么没有取消订阅的选项呢?. 我发不了截图,大家看看是不是这样?

Won’t even get passed initial loading screen. Once I select my membership it says “loading” indefinitely. Super disappointed I was so excited to use this.

Subscription Based Service. Just get the Mac version of this application.

Can’t subscribe. I’m fine with subscriptions, but I’ve downloaded this app multiple times and, unlike other subscription apps, including Logic Pro, I can’t even subscribe to this one. It just never works.

Fix the bugs. Awesome system but keeps crashing

Subscription only. Get DaVinci resolve instead. They let to pay to own, instead of forcing you to rent.

$ubscription. Big waste of time

I didn’t download it but…. So I paid good money for FCP on my Mac and that doesn’t transfer in anyway to the iPad app? I shouldn’t have to pay for an iPad version, let alone a subscription, when I bought the software for my Mac.

A complete different version. it’s a complete different version from Mac’s version And it doesn’t recognize FCP Mac’s projects It has its own project types ! It reads from “fcp for iPad “ projects or “iMovie” projects

Meh… Wes waited all this time for…?. Apple has a bad habit of intentionally limiting their iPad apps. Pages, Keynote, now FCP. The M2 iPad can handle a full application so what gives? If they can port a substantially similar DaVinci to iPad than why do we only get Final Cut MOBILE?

Not loading. The app is stuck on loading screen i have the current version updated app and ipad still nothing i use final cut pro for work so this is really disappointing i wont be renewing my subscription

Problem for final cut pro. My ipad m1 pro 12.9 inch, i’m install final cut pro but isn’t work once i open loading and loading for while its can’t open

Feels like a Beta version. Apps looks and runs great. Missing a lot of features that prevents it from being useful. - Needs external storage support - Needs support for external LUTS - Needs video noise reduction features - Needs stabilization

Finally. Very Good

Bad use of external storage. So, you can import videos from external storage, but they need to be stored on the iPad to actually edit. I don't even think LumaFusion has this problem.

رائع. رائع جدأ

Final Cut Pro for iPad is here - and nowhere near ready. I’ve been waiting for this software to be released ever since I bought my first 12.9” iPad Pro. I’ve been fiddling with it all day, and I’m just disappointed. First off, you can’t store projects on an external drive — you must keep all files on the internal storage for the iPad. So unless you’ve shelled out for a 1-2TB version you can only handle a few projects at a time. My test project was using MP4 footage from my Canon R7. 3 of the 9 files refused to import into FCP. Two of them I got to import after a reboot. The third I had to copy to internal storage via the Files app, then it finally imported. During editing I am selecting “Canon LOG” for the Log Processing on my files. Even though it applies to the clip in my Project Media area, it doesn’t apply to the footage in the timeline. Render clip, still doesn’t apply. Export clip, doesn’t apply. Export clip in high quality ProRAW, and FCP crashes every time during the export. You can’t make custom titles currently — so if you wanted to add an image as a logo for a lower thirds title you have to jump through a ton of hoops, and even then I can’t figure out how to get the image/pictures to fade in and out. I’ve run into issues 2-3 times where FCP will refuse to do anything due to the internal storage being full — only to go to Settings and find I have 70GB free still. The problem is the software really seems amazing. The color correction editing is wonderful and easy to use. The Jog Wheel is fantastic and the UI is very professionally done and easy to figure out. The software’s just feature-incomplete and very very buggy. I signed up for an annual subscription. If they can’t roll out a number of fixes over the 30 day trial I’ll be cancelling it. I’ve waited for this software for years and I’m just disappointed.

Well worth the wait. My new favorite app. I have used a lot of different video editing software programs for over 20 years. Most recently I have been using Premiere Pro. It has been a good program but there have been a lot of issues I have had with it. I have really been looking forward to the release of Final Cut Pro and now that it is finally here, it did not disappoint. In fact it is way better than I expected. Since most of the video I shoot is with an iPhone I wanted a video editing app that was designed specifically for these videos. I can now shoot at 4K and 60fps without having to worry about compatibility issues to video format conversions. But it not only handles iPhone videos well, it also handles videos from my GoPro, DJI gimbal, and older videos shot with old hand held camcorders. The app is very user friendly and extremely easy to pick up and use right away, even without going through a tutorial. It is intuitive and user friendly even for people who have never used video editing software. Yet it still retains much of the functionality that is expected from professional video editing software. The more I use this program the more I learn what it is capable of. I look forward to apple to continue to add features to the app. Final Cut Pro is way cheaper than Premiere Pro and yet it still can do everything that I was doing in Premiere Pro. In fact it is better than Premiere pro in a lot of its functionality. I will be canceling my Premiere Pro subscription and switch to Final Cut Pro.

Expected better for the price I’m paying…. My iPad overheats using it, using iPad Air with M1, it lags a lot… like Capcut runs so much smoother and is cheap what the heck! I understand this app is still being improved but for the price I’m paying I wish it was smoother.

Disappointing. When we think of Apple software we think of software that’s held in a high regard. So, it’s disappointing to see such a huge miss at 1.0. Needs a lot of work, and is missing far too many true pro features. Cumbersome and clunky UI that puts way too much emphasis on touch instead of embracing the reality that the iPad Pro is a multi input device where each input should be treated equally. Instead of packing in needed pro features at 1.0 you guys have very gimmicky features in the software that 95% of people won’t use. Like the in app camera, and the pencil writing feature. How did this useless stuff make it in, and in app/timeline audio recording and voice overs didn’t!? I wasn’t one of the people who really cared if Final Cut came to iPad, but I always said it would still be awesome if it does. However, I think its very important to understand that modern day developers have taken both the platform and the iPad Pro to places that are still years ahead. The iPadOS and iPad Pro user community expects far more, because we have been spoiled by brilliant modern day development that has leapfrogged most software. If Final Cut Pro is the industry standard for the Mac, Luma Fusion is the industry standard for iPad Pro. These guys got it right, and you guys are very far behind them. You have some serious competition here, so if you guys want Final Cut to work here you have to step up big time. For the people who truly wanted this software for iPad Pro they want to see 1 for 1 features. Everything the Mac version has here on iPad. If you guys can’t deliver that and pull the adobe thing, this will be a huge failure. There is no way you will convince people to pay for a subscription in it’s current state. I mean even iMovie has in app audio recording! I do hope you guys get it there because I want to see Final Cut succeed here. Also, plugins will be needed unless you guys figure out a more modern solution to them. I find plugins to be a pretty legacy feature, but they are something Final Cut users rely on.

This App Refuses To Open. I’ve restarted, deleted, & redownloaded repeatedly with absolutely NO RESULTS. Except a spinning grey spiral of STASIS & DEATH. By way of contrast? Logic Pro for iPad opens just fine. What an Auspicious WAY TO BEGIN ONE STAR UNTIL FINAL CUT PRO FOR iPAD ACTUALLY OPENS

Amazing start. Very impressed with the amount of polish they have right off. Would love for the ability to edit footage from a SSD. I know it’s possible. Please add it.

Greedy.. Okay, I’ve been waiting a long time for this. But, why do I still have to pay a subscription for something I’ve already paid $300 for on my old MacBook Pro.

Missing too much. There are a lot of things from the Mac don’t carry over and it’s hard to work with on the iPad. Simple things like markers are missing.

no full screen on external dispaly. you cant take the app to full screen on external display… come on apple get it together..

Subscription?. Is Apple following the other companies? What happened to buying a program for one single fee?

Final Cut Pro on MacBook vs IPad. I don’t understand why I would have to have a subscription when I already made my one time payment to have access to Final Cut Pro on my MacBook. Really disappointed in this.

Creo que hace falta algo para que la aplicación esté completa. Creo que le hace falta los Compound clip, se puede hacer mucha cosas divertidas con ellos y con los Compound la aplicación estará más completa.

Almost Nailed It. Add ability to import LUTs and editing from an external SSD, and this will be a great addition to smaller projects.

Down grading my first review. With IOS 17 why can’t we record external video camera feeds directly into FCP like we can on a Mac? Further more, why can’t we record audio voiceovers directly into FCP like we can on a Mac? Cut the umbilical to laptops please, and make FCP for iPad truly professional.

Needs AVCHD VIDEO FORMAT ADDED. Final Cut Pro for iPad need to include AVCHD video format added to the compatible formats listed. PLEASE ADD THIS SOON.

Please wait! Final Cut Pro for iPad app comments loading...
