Mobile Passport Control App Description & Overview

What is mobile passport control app? Mobile Passport Control (MPC) is an official application created by U.S. Customs and Border Protection that streamlines your CBP processing experience at select U.S. entry locations. Simply fill out your traveler profile, answer CBP inspection-related questions, and proceed straight to the “Mobile Passport Control” lane at the airport or seaport.

MPC is a voluntary program which can be used by U.S. Citizens, Canadian Citizen Visitors, Lawful Permanent Residents, and Visa Waiver Program Visitors at any of the supported airport and seaport locations found on our website: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/mobile-passport-control

MPC provides a more efficient, secure in-person inspection process for the CBP Officer and the traveler, and shortens overall entry wait times.

MPC can be used in 6 simple steps:

1. Create a traveler profile using biographic information from your passport; You can create a profile for all eligible members in a family group. Your profiles will be securely stored on your device completely free to be used for future travel.

2. Select your method of travel, select your port of entry and terminal (if applicable), answer CBP inspection-related questions, certify the truthfulness and accuracy of your answers, and, upon arriving at your selected port of entry, tap the “Submit Now” button.

3. Capture a clear and unobstructed photo of each traveler (including yourself) that you added to your submission.

4. Once your submission is processed, CBP will send a virtual receipt back to your device.

5. Proceed to the MPC designated lane upon arrival and be prepared to present your passport and other relevant travel documents. Please note: MPC does not replace your passport; your passport will need to be presented to the CBP Officer.

6. The CBP Officer will complete the inspection. If further information is required, the CBP Officer will let you know.

LAX saver. I learned about this app on Instagram. When we arrived back home from our Europe vacation I figured let’s give it a try. I inputted all our passports 5 of us. Took pictures of our faces as soon as we landed. Walked to immigration. Asked an officer where do I go with mobile passport and walked us to the global entry line. Passed immigration so fast that I wasn’t sure what happened. I looked back and saw the big line that we skipped. When we arrived to baggage claim we were the only ones there and got our luggage and left. The rest of the passengers were still waiting on the immigration line to pass. This was so easy and amazing especially after a long day of flying and anxiously wanting to get back home.

App is fine, customs is another story. I got this app and was excited to see if it helps with the long lines. We were on a plane with 383 other people, we were the 5th family in line at the MPC line…… this line shares with the flight crew AND Global Entry….. as more flights were landing, we were left waiting as other priorities came first. The regular line went through our entire plane and some of the 2nd flight before our turn. The employees helping with the line said it’s our fault for choosing the mobile option. The flight crew also said the regular line is always faster in their opinion. The app is fine and when the airport employees catch up…. It might work better. I won’t use the app again as we waited way to long.

Gets the Job Done, but overall CBP scanning workflow needs to improve. Mobile Passport is (in my opinion) still relatively unknown, so there is clearly an advantage for those who use it. I was able to skip the general CBP line and go straight to an agent's counter via the Mobile Passport line. The form itself is self-explanatory and easy to fill out. After submission you receive a barcode on the app to scan at the counter. This is where I suggest some improved functionality on the app. I was not able to tell whether my barcode had scanned so I held my phone against the scanner for a bit. (I did not see the scanner "blink" or hear any "blink" noise to suggest that it scanned.) The agent at my counter subsequently got in his feelings and became rude to me because I had accidentally scanned my barcode more than once. If it is that important for the barcode to be only scanned once, I would suggest including a confirmation message app-side when the barcode has been scanned OR at least a disclaimer message when presenting the barcode. This is pretty common for high-profile retail apps nowadays. As a proud American citizen returning home from abroad I expect a smoother experience especially when using a mobile app designed to be seamless.

YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS!!!. I’ve flown international a few times and the customs lines are a drag to wait through. They take forever! The first review I saw was from a flight attendant that used this application. I decided to try it coming back from Ecuador into Miami. Was super easy. Just need your passport and know what terminal your flying into. I made it to customs and the lines were SOOOO long. I was with a group of 3 others. They didn’t download the app like I told them to and got stuck in a 2 hours line 😭. I was in line for maybe 5-10 minutes max. The global entry line was also a lot longer than the line I was in. I highly recommended using this app. It’s free and easy to use! So happy to have found a more convenient way of traveling now :)

Resident alien. I was more than willing to use the app . It is definitely a much needed option if a person has nothing to declare. However, I am a resident alien of US and when filling out the ?s and proceeding , there is no Option for returning Resident alien. The ground crew were very nice and the customs officer processed me in seconds. I might not be so lucky next time. It caused me a lot of tension because if I selected one of the two options , I would be lying about why I was coming back home. I didn’t want that on my INS record. Please add the option for citizens and legal residents to clear in fast pass.

Perfection!. First off, read the description about the app carefully. You can’t submit your info more than four hours before you arrive in the US. You will still need to present your US passport to the CBP agent. The system works is you pay attention to details. Flew back to Dulles Airport from the Caribbean in June using the MPC app. Had initial issues with connecting to CBP server but it worked before we board the shuttle to the terminal. Hundreds of people in regular line. Less than 10 people in the MPC line! Out of the airport and in a taxi in less 45 minutes after landing.

App worked really well, but…. Once we got to the counter (MCO), the CBP agent said they didn’t have readers for it, and they hadn’t been using the app for about 12 years. Despite the TVs in the hall advertising the app, it appears that the “new” app hasn’t tricked down to the frontline staff. Not that it would have saved much time, as there were no self-service kiosks in the terminal, the real wait was being stuck behind 400 other people… Hopefully it will work out next time. It reads the passport really quickly and application was easy to complete.

Used it once so far and it was awesome!. I used this last night at Logan Airport (Boston). I remembered I downloaded it the day before my return from London. I completed the form quickly and just left the page open on the submit form page. Upon landing I took the picture as required and hit submit form button. The lines at passport control were some of the longest I have seen at Logan. The MPC line, one couple in front of me. I was done in 5 minutes! Love it! So glad I decided to use it. I think I heard about it on a FB reel.

May save you a lot of time - or not.. Contrary to many 1* reviews the App is very easy to use. The only design defect is that you have to start at the “Begin Your Entry Process” screen, select “Airplane” or “Cruise Ship” - which does not matter at that point - and only than start adding travelers. Once that step is complete, you cancel the entry form, and the data will remains recorded in the App. Once you are about to arrive you go to that same “Begin Your Entry Process” screen, and on the next page select from those travelers profiles that you have already created. The actual experience at the airport may vary. In EWR in September there were clearly marked signs for MPC, however that was the same line as for the crew, which was actually a bit longer than the regular line. (Which was uncharacteristically short at the time.) In PHL in December the MPC line was “hidden in plain sight”: there was a huge sign, but it was different in style from all the other signs directing the traffic, and our family has missed it on the first pass. However going through that line saved us at least half an hour or more. At any event, with MPC there’s always an option to just use regular line if it looks shorter.

Seamless Travel. Great App and extremely convenient to use and save time for the immigration clearance The baggage information is quite a unique feature and extremely helpful If additional features like the airport map layout and the connecting flight information can be added then it will be a fantastic option for users who come on an international flight and have to connect on a domestic flight Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏🏼

CBP app is good. Use it. I just used the CBP passport app and it works well. Simple questions. I fuss. It needed one re-try on the picture of the passport. I guess it is the weird reflective surface. But then it worked. I also had to resubmit it once (but without re-entering any information, which is better than most apps). Second time the submission went through. No problem. Prep work: think of your four digit PIN the app will ask you to create.

Great. Arrived to Dallas international airport from Madrid, Spain. The lines for the foreign nationals and US citizens were large, estimate around 200 people and the foreign national lawn and about the same in the US citizen line The line for the MPC entry only had four people. Took a maximum of 5 to 10 minutes to go through. Great app, would highly recommend for any traveler coming into the United States through customs.

App has glitches and line is slow. Downloaded the app and it didn’t work properly. The list of airports was blank for some reason, and I couldn’t select my port of entry. After many tries I decided to turn off my phone and on back again, and it finally worked. Then another problem, the submission of my form wouldn’t work, and it would time out. Had to try many different times until it finally did. Last but not least, the line was extremely slow, as the put together handicap passengers and MPC holders. I saw people in the regular line the came together with me being attended before I did.

Waste of Time for some. This app should do a better job of pre screening before getting you to the end to do nothing. Poor user Interface needs work. Lots of wasted text clogging up path to where they want you to go. In the end one traveler was able to successfully complete while I was not. The edits are poor to non-existent so you have zero guidance and help along the way. I filled out the form and there was no path to continue. An absolute waste of my time. Whoever owns this needs to go through and end to end clean up if this disaster with thorough testing of more situations and map in the appropriate messages and edits.

Not sure the purpose of this app. Forms are not required anymore at customs. It won’t let you submit with children for what sounds like human trafficking concerns. The time it took to fill this out was longer than the time with the border agent. We spend about 3 minutes with the border agent when we land in the US. I found the lack of clarity in why my forms were denied just frustrating and the app’s support team couldn’t give me a reason either apart from a hunch with trafficking. This doesn’t save you time waiting in customs - so why did it get developed at all?

Poor instructions. We were leaving Calgary, Canada flying to DFW. Our port of entry back into the US would be DFW, in our estimation. When we arrived at the Calgary airport the app said it we were too far from our port of entry for it to accept or submit our declaration form. As we were standing outside the Customs line, a helpful lady said we needed to list Calgary as our POE. So, we deleted DFW and added Calgary instead. The app said we were still too far from our POE. The lady then took my phone and app to a Customs officer and he couldn’t ascertain what went wrong either. We never could get this durn app to work after multiple deletes and retries. We waited and went thru the general Customs line…..that this app was supposed to circumvent.

Lacking crucial information. It does not say that passengers with global entry should NOT use this app. I had to return to the kiosk to fill out the global entry form and got the notice that my last US entry was too recent. It was two months before, so I guess this app updated my data even before I passed customs. Lost 30 min in line when I had a short layover. Please update the help page with accurate information. It also has a bug where if the data is entered one day before the arrival, which is normal for overnight flights, it offsets the date-of-birth and passport expiration date by one day.

Convenience and highly recommended app. I wasn't aware of the app but I had heard about it from News broadcast, so I did a quick search on AppStore and downloaded this app. It was easy to install and setup. I cleared the CBP/Immigration with ease and quickly! I had to ask in the customs hall where is the MPC lane and I was out of there in less then a minute. I recommend submitting your form an hour prior to landing, if you have internet in the air or as soon as you land. The CBP officer just took my picture for comparison and welcomed me that was it no passport check or questions asked, so long you are truthful in answering your custom/agriculture form. Thumbs up to the app! 👍

Great option. While others waited in a large group we waited less than ten minutes and were done. It helped us make an earlier flight connection which would have been impossible if we had to wait in the larger group for a turn.

Please identify the airport when you comment. Great app, but useless if the airport doesn’t open a lane for it. It all depends On The Airport! People, please identify the airport and whether the app worked/immigration had a dedicated line or not when you write the comment. Without this info and just complaining the app doesn’t work is not helpful to anyone! I have used it many times at Newark (EWR) and there’s basically no wait. But they don’t accept MPC anymore. The app is useless there now. Don’t blame the app, it’s the people who run the airport and won’t open the MPC lane that’s to blame! Lazy bums.

World traveler. This is way better than Global entry at SEA. Unlike Glovsl entries, no need for interview nor any fees. Everything is so easy and simple. Down load the app which I get to keep in my cell phone. Each entry to US, just answer quick questions, take a selfie and get a receipt. No need to fill out the custom form. Best of all, no need to stand in line at immigration. Just show ur receipt and the passport! Best thing ever!

A great app and facilitator for customs. The app was fantastic! I read everything, took my time to put the information in , was thrilled to be able to use it the first time at Atlanta airport customs— breezed through the QR view line, was almost at the window when: THE CUSTOMS AGENT IN STALL # 37, on Nov 8, 2023, at 6pm, stepped out of his stall and did NOT COME BACK!! We waited and waited; seeing others from our flight go through the regular line!!! Finally a security person opened the 38 lane and “I don’t have a scanner”, so all of the preparations was for nothing!! Well, guess I will have to go abroad again so I can use the app once again— maybe the next time I will be overjoyed!!

Saved us hours!. Landed in IAD yesterday 4/1/22 and they held us on the transport bus for 10 minutes because the immigration hall was full. I would guess around a 2-3 hour wait. We joined the mobile queue with one person in front of us and were through in less than 5 minutes. I assume as the app gains popularity that the line will get longer, but at the time of writing I can’t emphasize how much better of an experience this was.

so far we don’t know if this is going to help. The OCR optical character recognition is great. it’s not perfect. you do have to go through each field and check. The camera during pictures taken shows a different view of what’s displayed after you try to submit what was take. the top of the heads are cropped no matter what angle or how far back the person is. i’m taking the picture and over and over and over again and I can’t seem to get the top of the head and during the validation part. The staff at the airport are not clearly stating that you can go into a different line by using this app. the sign about this app doesn’t distinguish itself by name so basically uses the word mobile ambiguously. So basically we stood in this long line for nothing, and filled out the forms on this app for nothing as well.

Saved me hours at the airport. I’ve never written a review for an app before but this one deserves it - I downloaded and filed out the details while walking to customs and then breezed passed a line of 500+ people. I couldn’t believe it. Without this I would have missed my connecting flight. Also very user friendly.

Yes Yes Yes. I am US Citizen I came back from International a few weeks ago and the waiting for Inmigration was 200 people in front of me...Mobile Passport 3 people. I use it on the phone, super user friendly, scan your passport with your phone, take a selfie and good to go. It was the fastest entry in the past 30 years I travel. Well Done Guys!

Time saver. We used this app when flying from Los Cabos to LAX, Tom Brady International Terminal. Very easy to enter your information before your trip and then when you land just answer the questions and take the photo. When we arrived to the custom the regular line was very long and the mobile passport line only had one family ahead of us. We went through customs in under 10 minutes. I highly recommend this app to anyone who doesn’t travel internationally often to do Global Entry.

Super Useful. The line for MPC at the airports I have been in is always almost empty. It never took me more than 5 minutes. I used it both for solo travel and family travel and it works great everytime. The officer doesn't really ask any questions in my experience. I highly recommend using this, and it is free. I am not sure why not more people use this.

Location requirement breaks the app in a lot of places. I’ve been in the terminal at the decision point between mobile passport line and normal line, in the app still tells me I’m too far away. What’s even more of an issue is that deep in the bowels of these government buildings, often the mobile reception is not great so your location data isn’t so precise. This requirement needs to be loosened up so that we can submit while on the taxiway. And why does it let me use the app in places when there isn’t support for it? LAX hasn’t supported this in years but you can certainly fill out your form, take pictures and then submit it. When everything works, it does save a little time over when the electronic kiosks are working. But i’ve water more time on when it doesn’t work than i’ve saved over 25-30 trips (I’m including the previous privatized version of the app with which I had more success).

Pointless. The last two times I have tried to use this it was pointless. The first one, in Charlotte, the line using mobile passport was longer than the regular line. That was likely because the global entry people automatically got in front of single mobile passport line and the regular lines kept going through. So every time a new plane landed, a dozen or more people with global entry and airline employees went in front of the mobile passport line even though there were hundreds of MPC people in it. And the regular lines kept going with nobody getting in front of it Then, tonight, in Dallas, MPC was not an option. They only had 2 CBP lines total and no MPC lines available. What’s the point of having an app that we spend time putting our information in and taking photographs of us and then not having anybody using it at the airport?

Front in the line. In the past we used the Mobile Pass app but that has now been replaced with this one. It works basically the same. Scan your all of your family’s passports, take selfies, answer some questions and submit once you land. When you get to immigration, make sure you get in the mobile passport lane and you basically jump to the front. Not sure why more people don’t know about this app.

This is the droid you're looking for. If you've been using the Mobile Passport app and, like me, have seen it saying lately that it will no longer relay your information to U.S. Customs & Border Patrol (CBP), it's time to cancel your subscription to Mobile Passport, delete that app, and download this one. CBP MPC is the official and up-to-date replacement for the Mobile Passport app. And I'm not positive yet, but it's looking to me like this one doesn't even require a subscription to do what Mobile Passport did (and more, I think). And if you *haven't* been using the Mobile Passport app but are looking for an electronic repository for your passport and a paperless means of filling out the forms necessary for entry into the U.S. and/or Canada, this is the app you're looking for too. It's the official one, put out by the Department of Homeland Security and all that jazz, and not some third-party thing that adds an unnecessary link to the chain of communication. Enjoy. 🙂👍🏻

Absolutely useless app. I saw a sign advertised in this app as I arrived at JFK. I install the app photograph, my passport photograph myself, and filled out all the information, answering all the questions. Then I went and stood in line a passport control in the line that said mobile app. The line barely moved, and people who came in the same time as me in the general line, moved much faster and were out of the airport before I even got to the front of the mobile app line. When I got to the front the officer asked me all the same questions, took my picture, and when I asked him why I have to do that. If I use the mobile app, he said that he got snow information from the mobile app and he doesn’t know what it’s for.. So this app is utterly useless.

Denver has stopped using this. The old mobile passport was awesome to save time coming in through customs at DIA, and I got this new version for the same easy pass to the front of the line - but apparently nowadays they’ve decided the app takes longer and DIA has abandoned using it. Unless you have global entry they make you wait with everyone else. Then when you do get to the agent they say the app is a mess and they are faster to check you through manually. Huge bummer. Uninstalling. And after the mess at DIA I likely will keep my travels within the U.S.! We got into Cancun faster (on a Friday afternoon) than we got back into DIA on a Thursday evening. It is just too hard with kids to deal with that after traveling from another country.

Hard to rate when I couldn’t use it. This app was promoted in Deltas app when I was checking in for my return flight from Paris today. I was excited to see how well it would work. I filled out all the info for my wife and I. We were ready when we arrived at immigration. I asked what line to go to for the app. I was told that no one in ATL F terminal was open to accept it. I was very frustrated to hear since Delta suggested I download and use the app for my arrival. I was stuck in the regular line. As for the App itself. I found it easy to use. Sometime soon I hope to try it.

It’s great if it works. We have used the app in the past without issue and saved TONS of time, but yesterday upon landing in IAH Houston, our submission was failing after repeated tries for all 3 in our party, but somehow 2 of 3 finally got it to work. We were fortunate the immigration officer took pity on our third traveler allowing him to pass with us. We tried cellular and WiFi. I contacted support, but they said they had no visibility into the errors which I find hard to believe at best (lack of knowledge for customer service) and poor programming at worst.

Get this app. My son suggested using this app to speed up the process while entering the US. While standing in a very long and slow line, I downloaded the app, entered my data, got into the fast lane, and was next in line through USCBP. I made it to the plane one minute before the gate closed. Without this app I would have missed my connecting flight.

Best Time Saving app. This is the BEST little know app EVER that will save you time at the airport, and that’s coming from an airline employee of over 5 years. It was amazing the estimated wait time was almost 2 hours or more for the regular person who doesn’t have a Global Entry Number. That said when your traveling through an entry point city that the worlds largest airline uses as one of their international hubs and just want to get through the Customs and Border Protection line at the airport when entering These United States, you have go to download this app !!! You can choose to have it save your passport information, or you can have it rest each time your forms for entry expire, all you have to do is take a clear picture of yourself, and a picture of your passport and enter your flight information and then fill out the quick standard entry question, and then the app auto fills out the correct entry forms for you and your entire family who might be traveling with you. Then you pick up your checked baggage (if you have any), and lastly start looking for the signage for the line for electronic entry. I will say this global entry was way way longer then this apps line and that is supposed to be the timesavers line for frequent international travelers, and this app allowed us to even cut in front of them without having to pay for anything!!!

Total waste at JFK. What is the use of this app at New York JFK airport, International terminal 7? It was completely useless and there were no short lines, the agent asked us everything that we already answered in the app, and he didn’t even want to see anything in the app. So I asked him what the purpose of the app wasn’t and he said they don’t use it. They were also severely understaffed with only total six agents, handling three international flights, with only three assigned to US citizens and three assigned to everybody else. We are US citizens and what they do at JFK is a total joke.

Left my wife to fend for herself. I used the app for the first time and it had issues creating the QR and finally did after 4 attempts. It said all three of us traveling were on the form and we had all our pictures in there. When we got to the gate only my child and I came up so my wife had to the back of the long line to submit the paper form. Don’t plan on having this issue again as I won’t use it when we travel as a family.

App is fine, but entry was slow. The app tells you to take a photo of the cover of your passport, but it should say to take a photo of the inside package with your personal information and photo. Otherwise, the app was easy. BUT using it in LAX resulted in a very long wait time. It would have been quicker to just use the real passport alone.

Hard to scan passport with iPad. The movement of the passport and the image on the screen on an iPad do not seem to be coordinated. I found it very difficult to place our passport image pages into the screen. Fortunately with multiple attempts the program seemed to acquire all the information that it needed. The information was correct. I could not verify the images and may have my wife’s Face ID for my information on our joint Mobile Passport Control record.

Useless in Newark. I was a big supporter of Mobile Passport and was surprised when I found out that CBP MPC was now the official app to be used at U.S. Customs & Boarder Patrol. I downloaded the new app and entered the necessary information as required. Upon landing at Newark International Airport, I was disappointed to find out there was no longer a separate entry for CBP MPC customers that previously was available for Mobile Passport. So I am not sure what the benefits are to the new app and what services it provides? After waiting in line and showing the agent the information on the app, he actually got mad at me and said the app is “useless”. So the question I have is what advantages does this app have for international travelers? From practical experience, none!

Shorter line. We recently arrived at Dulles airport from London. I had filled out the form, relatively straightforward, and sent it when we arrived. Other than sending us to a shorter line I could not see that the app sped up the process. Our line did not move any faster than the other lines. I would use the app again, if only to get in a shorter line. But, if it doesn’t shorten the screening process, is it a useful tool?

Glitchy at times. I’ve used mobile passport since it’s inception. Mainly being cheap as global entry has a fee attached. Mobile passport expedites me through customs pretty fast. Only problem I encounter on occasions is the app not working properly and on rare occasions causing me to hop on the general line for entry back home. Overall great app and it’s free. I will never stop using it. Well that is of course unless they charge lol.

The new Mobile Passport Control app is NOT good. It may be coincidence, but with the retirement of the Airside app, it seems that immigration control at fewer and fewer airports are processing the Mobile Passport Control receipt. Instead of getting the expedited service we users formerly received, we are being dumped into the same long lines all other travelers (many very unfamiliar with the basics) are using. The result is a very substandard experience and excessive processing time — hardly what we had grown to expect from the program when originally launched. At the very least, those airports that have removed the receipt scanners and don’t provide dedicated servicing for Mobile Passport should be removed from the “port of entry” list. Leaving them in there sets a false expectation that we will be able to use the app and get through quickly. Today I nearly missed a connection at O’Hare because the airport refuses to use the app (even though they show up on the list). It seems to be a locally-driven decision. Even better would be to mandate the use of the system at all major US gateway airports. It used to provide a useful alternative for those of us who travel frequently, but don’t live near a major airport where we can schedule a Global Entry interview (and go through that ponderous bureaucratic process). US CBP needs to make up their mind what their mobile strategy is… and then follow through with a consistent and convenient execution of that strategy!

Failed to submit. All went well but it wouldn’t submit my form when I arrived at the airport in Toronto (YYZ). GPS knew I was in the right location. But at the submit stage it said I had to go to the CBP agent so I assume filling out the form was useless. Everything else worked great. Easy to add travelers and scan their passports for use again next time. One confusing thing was whether to include myself as a traveler. I couldn’t tell if it was implied that it included me or I needed to be explicitly on the list.

Super fast custom clearance!. This is the first time we use the “mobile passport clearance” application to clear customs during our trip from Europe. It was easy to use and allow us to expedite entry into the United States. Only one person per family needs to install the MPC application in the celular to be able to use this process. The App allows you to scan the barcode of the passport to add all those who are traveling together, then answering a few questions and ready! If you have not tried it, please use it.

Enjoy while people dont know about it. Finding out about this app while its still somehow unknown is great. Used it for the first time this week while returning to the US through LAX and I was the only person in line. I was through customs in less than 30 seconds, faster than Global Entry, and all for free. Set up the app and your profile before you travel, then do your submission while you wait to deboard your flight. I’m sure eventually the line will get long as people discover the app but for now its fantastic. If your passport scans on egates then this app will work without issue.

Not able to use at Newark airport. The app works great- almost identical to the old one (Mobile Passport). My complaint is that when I landed in Newark airport I was not able to get in the country using this app. It’s the airport so I wasn’t given an explanation as to why- but at the time (Sunday night)- they were only accepting Global Entry or waiting on the immigration line (which was very short). This concerns me because now I don’t know when the app is accepted and when it’s not. Ideally, the app will let you know if the airport is accepting entry using the app that day. Bottom line: I don’t recommend relying on this app to enter the country. You can only guarantee fast entry with Global Entry- the airport might just not accept the app on occasion.

Love this so easy. This app is great and stops the fossicking of pens making mistakes with crosses and just stopping general calamity in filling in forms and carting them about . Great work CBP !

Nexus light!. Great app (but don’t tell anyone). Pre-declarations etc. Download the QR code at the airport and zip to the front of the customs line.

Doesn’t work. Doesn’t work. Won’t submit before or at airport. Pointless app

Ms Flatekval. I completed the app for entry at Port Everglades and your Immigration Officer had no idea about MPC! “what is that?” was the response when I showed it. He wasn’t interested and was rather rude about it. Why did I go to the trouble? Seems to me your staff should be educated about technology that you encourage travellers to use.

Passport scanner. Scanner doesn’t work well.

Didn’t work. Didn’t work when I needed it

Won’t work!!!. Submission won’t work for any of us in the lineup

Useless. Like everything else it doesn’t work, waste of time and energy.

Scanner not working well. I will leverage any tool I can use to efficiently streamline my interaction with the border officer(s). I would have given this one a 5-Star but the scanner does not work well. The date of birth, passport number and passport expiry date seems to not be scanning correctly even after numerous attempt to correct. After attempting for a few times, I pretty much gave up and entered the passport number, date of birth and passport expiry date manually. Why have the scan available if it’s not even working? Thank you.

Toronto. Excellent!

It sucks. Can’t enter Canadian passport by scan or manually as it won’t let change birthday or expiry to anything other than todays date…it just resets the field to current day

Submission error. Needed this to clear customs faster at Toronto airport but tried several times and it failed

1 star. App doesn’t work

Didn’t work. Downloaded last night. Put in all info At airport. And waiting in line tried 10 times Verified all passport info. Etc Would NOT go through Now sitting in plane and working Ridiculous Waste of time and stressful No reason given for not accepting Now No reason given y worked Tried data. No data. Internet. No internet. Etc You need to have ppl there that can diagnose issue. Everyone. We don’t know we don’t know. Pls explain Andrew

Would not scan at airport. Fail

Always errors. Always errors

Disappointing. App is worthless. Did not work on Landing in YUL heading to LGA. Perhaps YUL is a non functional zone. Tried again in line with the airport agent who directed traffic after the second security line (seriously Montréal?) and they watched me re-attempt and when it failed again, he directed me thru MPC line. Beware. I got thru because I have a nexus card, the woman in front of me was in same situation and was turned away, to the back of the main line, by the CBP agent. Waste of time, do not download or use thru Montréal.

1 issue. On iPhone cannot seem to add it to Home Screen

Submission form and process. Horrible app keep getting an error message and still had to wait in the cue. Waste of time!

Very easy. Important and easy

Doesn’t work. I keep on getting submission errors at the airport

Broken app. Terrible does not work

Not working. Not working always down

Error. There’s always a submission error

Lousy. Does not work always submission error

Very convenient. first time using it, it’s very convenient. I like it.

Didn’t work. Didn’t work

CBP MPC. What a crap app! Why push this to make going through US customs easier when the has never worked at Pearson International Airport.

0 star app. App stinks. Cant process the form or says that im too far from the location

Very quick. 👌🏻

Does not work for children. Fine for adults

Sucks. Doesn’t work either location error or submission error

Doesn’t Work. Crashes at submission every time. Useless.

Great App. Supper fast and easy to set up and use. Saves a lot of time. Take your picture, fill in your passport details and go straight to U.S. Border Protection Officer (check for signs with CBP MPC logos). Helped us to avoid 45 min wait for Border control.

Great option. Awesome, practical, free and saves you time:)

Unprecedented. The speed at which I skipped the customs line - this app can only be given five stars

Didn’t work at all. Failed three times trying to submit.. Tried to send submission three times. Failed every time.

Wonderful. Fantastic!!!!

MPC slower than regular line. Fewer border patrol agents asking the same questions as in the regular line, no one regulating the flow between the two lines. Defeats the purpose of using this app.

Buggy. 9 times out of 10 I get an error report when trying to submit. Waste of time.

Terrible. Failed for 90% of a long line up at Pearson.

MPC. Excellent, great app to avoid long lines

Useless app. Tried submitting 25 times. No success.

Add E1 visas. Please add E1 visas to available application. Thanks!

Stalls after photo is captured. Have to force quit the app and then it works fine.

Crashes. Crashed at airport every time I’ve tried to use it

MPC. Terrible. Simply does not work.

Did not work at all at Toronto’s airport. :-(. Disappointed.

Mrs. Very easy friendly

Very Bad. Scanner misreads passport information. Submissions error out. The customs line was faster.

App Issues. Cannot Submit form waste of time.

Fantastic. I took my first international trip in 10 years and someone recommended this app and I’m glad I listened. I had a 1 hr 20 minute layover in Atlanta and would have not made my connection had I not had this app. I went to the head of the line at immigration and it took me all of 20 seconds to be on my way.

Bad Experience. The app did not work well at all. Not formatted correctly for iPhone screen so buttons were off-screen. Tried multiple times to set up family members and had to make many attempts before finally getting pictures and info to save. Passport scans sometimes resulted in incorrect input (wrong passport number, birth date, etc). Finally got everything entered and awaited arrival. Upon arrival tried to submit the form and was prompted to take new pictures AGAIN. Gave up at that point.

Works well. We have used it number of times when traveling as couple since my wife did not have Global Entry at the that time. Works really well but dependent on US customs having a lane open for it when is not always the case.

Expiration time. Like the app but filled it out in Auckland NZ after boarding plane, after completion found out it will expire in less than 4 hours , flight is 12 hrs. Maybe this should be mentioned prior to filling out form, will need to redo application after we land ?

Saved me hours at the airport. I’ve never written a review for an app before but this one deserves it - I downloaded and filed out the details while walking to customs and then breezed passed a line of 500+ people. I couldn’t believe it. Without this I would have missed my connecting flight. Also very user friendly.

ORD. The previous app worded well when the readers were working. This one seems to be the same thing but more user friendly. The Immigration officer stated they weren’t using it at Chicago. So he scanned all our passports then handed us a Customs form that he signed and stamped for the Customs officer. The Customs officer was good with the form from the other officer. If they ever get this working properly I will gladly use it and it will get 5 stars.

Longer Wait?. I don’t understand after submitting and we still had to wait just as long or even more so then standing in a regular crew-line? I and another flight crew thought this would be any shorter time waiting to clear customs but it was not?

What’s the point. Why state that you offer a service if you don’t offer the service. There’s a reason why people join a service like MPC and there’s others who will pay for Global Entry and there’s those that won’t sign up for either. But you don’t stick those that sign up for MPC in the same lines as those that don’t sign up for anything. If I miss my connection flight to Ohare out of Dallas this is your fault and I expect to be comped for the hassle. This is uncalled for and ridiculous.

Pretty slick. Scanned all the passports for the family and did the customs form lickety split. Just waiting in line now, so that they can scan the info from my phone. The data has a 4-hour timeout, so I hope we don't get to see what happens if we hit the timeout!

Useful but confusing. So this is definitely a time saver but puts the user in the following hierarchy: crew, anyone with global entry (no matter when they join the line), then MPC folks. No one explains this. You just kind of have to figure it out when the line suddenly stops. Still faster than doing things totally analog. But prepare to wait.

Bad App. Come on, get it to work guys! This app does not work on my Iphone 13max pro or my kids iphone 14 pro! Just says submission error! Deleted all travelers and tried. What a waste. There are other people in line with us who are having the same issue. The error is “Submission Error” proceed to the nearest CBP officer

Saved over an hour of time in ATL!. Not sure about other airports but Atlanta had a separate line for people using MPC app. We were able to skip the loooong line and literally waited about 5-10 minutes to get through customs. Will be using this app for all my out of country travel!!!!

Great app, easy to use and efficient!. I was able to open the app and just finish the questions, take a photo and submit after landing during taxi. Used it for the first time and really enjoyed it. Thanks to the agency for putting together such a useful tool.

Takes more time than regular passport control line. The information in Dubai and on the plane said that using the MPC app would save time in passing through customs at Dulles Airport in Washington DC. This info was wrong. They only allocated one passport control person for everyone that used the MPC app, diplomats, and cabin crew. While regular passport control had more than eight windows open. It took us 2 hours to get through passport control with MPC. We will never use it again.

Missing Port of entry. Traveling back from Aruba a d decided to use MPC app. It’s worth its weight in gold because it’s easy, free, and lets you bypass long lines. However Aruba airport (AUA) was NOT listed in the port of entry dropdown. I then put Newark airport in order to complete the form. But the customs officer said that was incorrect and the form is void. He proceeded to manually process us. Please add Aruba in ports of entry to avoid unnecessary confusion.

Really useful app. MPC is much better than the older “mobile passport” app - which forced a freemium model and kept erasing the passport details. I’m glad CBP took ownership of the app and made it truly free and useful - I travel a lot, and the app saves lots of time coming in - and is a much better alternative to Global Entry

Not worth it. The department is disconnected.. I went through the effort to download the app, fill out all of my personal information to prepare to land in LAX after an international trip. The app worked fine, but when I got there, they had closed the counter that takes this pass. That was a waste of my time and I’m sorry I wasn’t enjoying my trip more rather than worrying about this. If you’re going to offer this, the counter needs to be staffed.

Love this Hidden Treasure. Me and Hubby used this for the first time at PHL airport and didn’t have the wait in any type of lines.. actually wayy shorter than the Global Entry line… we zoomed right through, grabbed our luggage and got through the officers in less than 15 mins after getting off of flight.

First time. Went to all the trouble to download the APP, fill it out, sign in when arrive at YVR airport only to have the the CBP officer not use it as she didn’t have a reader. Under the circumstances I would not give the system a very good grade. The officer was astute enough to admonish us for stepping across the imaginary line before she gave us the okay. If there was a clear line of demarcation we would not have infringed on her space. So nice to be welcomed back into the country by someone who lives the power of their badge.

App Crashes and Is Not Efficient. I tried to enter my traveler information several times. Every time I would try to submit my information, the app would crash and close. I tried downloading the app twice to no avail. Additionally, the setup and framework of the app was unnecessarily complicated and overly print rich, making it easy to miss critical information and make mistakes while using the app. I do not recommend this app at all —it proved to be completely inefficient and unusable.

Great App, Disappointing and Inconsistent Implementation. The app is great, but airports have different ways of implementing this system. Many like IAD are horrible at it because there’s no dedicated MPC line or inspection booth so you’re waiting in the long line as if you didn’t use the app so what’s the point of that? CBP needs to control the process flow, not the inconsistent airport personnel. Amusement park lines are better organized.

Very helpful after a very long flight to home. I found about it during the return flight & decided to give it a try. To my surprise there was a seperate line for Mobile Passport entry for this app’s users. I was done with immigration in fastest time ever!!

Doesn’t Work in Chicago. The aap seems to work well, scans passport easily and just answer a few questions. However, when we arrived at customs in ORD we found a line I would guess was approximately 1/4 mile long. It took over an hour to reach border patrol agent & another 20 minutes to clear agriculture agent. Even though ORD is listed in aap as an airport the accepts MPC we asked two employees about the aap who stated no we don’t use MPC asp.

Currently Useless. The app allows you to fill in data. But once arriving at designated airport there wrre multiple errors preventing submission whether on cellular or wifi. Error message sstated to contact an agent. Once in front of a Custom agent the problem was explained to which he replied that he didn't need the app for processing. Without being able to use this the whole thing from beginning to end took only 2 minutes to clear customs. This app is currently junk. Perhaps updates will help

Pretty darn easy for a Govt. App. There’s no way this app was written by the US government. Just had to be out source to an external company. They did a fine job and made it easy to use, understand, and go step-by-step to complete the process. I’ll be using again

App lost our data. I took the time to download and fill out the form on this app the night prior to our flight. When I arrived at the airport and was about to go through customs pre-clearance, I found that all the data—all the traveler information and the form I’d filled out last night—had completely vanished and the app was like new again. I ended up having to go through the normal line instead of the accelerated one. All the time I’d spent setting this up was useless.

A bit confusing. Not bad ap but it’s not quite clear when inputting info for first time at the section where you declare if you’re at the airport or just pre-filling in info. And there’s no solid confirmation your data entry was taken. Also: auto scan of my passport said that it wasn’t a US passport, but finally grabbed it after 4 tries, and made some serious capture errors…

Disappointed. I spent a lot of time and energy downloading this app, reading all the instructions, taking pictures, uploading the documents and entering info in order to save time at the airport only to find out when going through US Customs that they are not accepting the mobile app at this time. There were no notifications or messages informing me about that through the app. Feels like a waste of my time. I wish I would have been notified beforehand.

Customs agents at JFK don’t use this app. While this app is great, the customs agents at JFK rarely respect the line of customers using it. Twice now they have had one agent working this line who has just up and left his post without saying anything, leaving everyone in line waiting 20-30 minutes with no explanation from anyone. Customs could be so much more efficient if you either automated this experience or respected this line of customers who are using the tools that are supposed to make this process more efficient.

Time saver!. Intuitive, easy to use app. We preloaded our passport info before leaving the country on our trip. Once our plane landed back in the US, it was easy filling out the remaining information before we stepped off the plane. Just needed cell service.

Great option. While others waited in a large group we waited less than ten minutes and were done. It helped us make an earlier flight connection which would have been impossible if we had to wait in the larger group for a turn.

Awful. Can’t understand the good reviews here. Didn’t save anytime whatsoever at JFK, in fact the regular line was moving quicker (and the global entry line was empty of course). When you get to the desk they still check your passport, it’s not as easy as showing the barcode. Maybe they need time to figure it out logistically and maybe it’s the fault of the airport but this was a complete waste of time that didn’t save any time. Took just over an hour to get through the passport line after a 7 hour flight: Fun.

Whisked through Passport control, no lines. Love this app-in less than one month across two trips it has been a breeze to move through passport control while others waited on long lines. Wish more US airports offerrd it.

Love this app. So wonderful that this is an option. Love that you can quickly and easily enter information and answer questions and get through the line. Especially after a long trip and you just want to get home. Thanks for this creation!!

Serious time zone bug. If the port of entry is in a different timezone than where passport info was uploaded to the app, the passenger birthdate and passport expiry date may change. I scanned my passport into the app in Taiwan and when I arrived in San Francisco (15 time zones earlier than Taiwan), the dates of birth and passport expiry were shifted one day earlier (and therefore incorrect and not matching my passport). Fortunately I caught and corrected the errors before submitting the form to CBP.

Messes up the birthday. I started using the App in Qatar. Fairly easy UI and everything went smoothly. On landing in JFK, I submitted the form. Only then, I noticed that it had messed up my Son and my birthdates by one day. I guess a timezone glitch. Please fix this bug and test your app better. Otherwise, very convenient and easy to use!

Family Travel!. Great for families. Wish we had the ability enter all necessary data the day before traveling. Especially the picture process. The process becomes a little muffled for families who have to take multiple photos. It did help tremendously. I love it.

KLHC-Nickname. I’m new to this but got everything ready and set through the app for MSP which is on the list as using it but it honestly changed nothing. The custom person didn’t even have a scanner. I like the idea but don’t know the use if there’s not even a separate line. They have global travelers kiosks but do not use. They won’t work for this app and is something different. And people just get pissy if you try to re-enter the line. Good idea just not sure it’s set up yet.

Not user friendly. I have tried to use this app twice and both times it was a waste of my time. For example, at Dallas airport today I have registered 5 persons for use and no lines were open at airport even though app kept saying to proceed to a line. Unless it approves and customs use of this service improves I will never use it again. In fact I’m deleting it now and might consider it again in future if updates improve its usefulness at airports.

THIS is EXACTLY what was needed! KUDOS!. Only had an opportunity to use this once arriving from France to PHL. A few minutes to use and upon entry we were directed to a line of about 10 (mobile) folks while Global Entry passed us, BUT about 250 were in line and using Kiosks! Did I mention it’s FREE! WELL DONE FOLKS! Well done!

What is the point?. Please excuse lain to me how this saved me a second of time. Needed to go through security even though we never left the secure area of the airport. Gentlemen at customs desk, asked the same questions, asked about how much merchandise we bought, took our pictures. Even though I had already answered that on the app. The location in Toronto airport is about half way back to MSP. Lots of extra walking. Extra security, that I’ve never had to do before. What’s the point? How did it save me time?

Useless app in my case. It is no longer required to fill out a customs form at the Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports…nor use this app. I don’t know about other airports but in those two airports the immigration officers simply ask if you have anything to declare. They can also ask other questions. Many times they have given back my passport without even talking to me nor asking me any questions.

Great App for Travelers. I recently used this app for the first time on arriving from an international flight. It worked perfectly. I was very impressed with the ease of use and the thoughtful design. The clear signage at the airport and the professionalism of CBP agents made everything very easy. Great job!

Date read from passport needs to be fixed. The app apparently gets confused by the time zone. The dates read from the passport (birthday, expiration date) are interpreted in the current time zone and can change depending on the time zone. This should be fixed .

Made customs a lot faster. Wow! Took about 5 minutes to get through JFK customs. There were 10 or so people in front of me, compared to maybe 200 in the regular line. Was nice to be in the fast lane for once! Shout out to Delta for recommending this app when we were coming in for landing!
