Wonderful. I found a lot of old negatives when we were cleaning out my mother’s house a few years ago. I realized that I had never seen the pictures and have been looking for a way to see them without the expense of sending them off for processing. This app is perfect! I’ve spent hours looking at the pictures and reminiscing with my siblings. So easy to use! So far, I love it!

Simple, yet sophisticated. This App does a great job capturing images from negatives of all sizes and auto processing for you. I like the ability to capture images by just holding the iPhone by hand. If filters any minor shaking and captures a still and crisp final image. It provides additional editing tools for post processing. The cropping tool could benefit from guide lines to assist in achieving a square image by hand tweaking every corner. Hope to see something like that in the future.

Need more control. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max, this app does not allow me to choose which lens I am using. It appears the app is using the ultra wide lens. I have a moment micro lens which I can only attach to the wide or telephoto lens and I can’t use it because the app doesn’t give me control over lens. Also the sharping tool over sharpens to the point where the image/person looks cartoonish. Lastly the app seems to auto crop my images even though I have turned off the auto crop feature, I have to go in and un-crop the image. If the developers correct these features, I’m willing to give it five star review.

LOVE THIS APP!. I found a large box with a couple hundred old negatives. OLD negatives going back to the 1920’s. I tried holding them up to a light to look at them but it wasn’t good enough. I searched for an answer, not wanting to have to take them all somewhere to be developed. I found this app and I was so excited. I bought a device about 10”x12” that lights up. I call it a tracing board. I used my phone to take pictures of the negatives that were lit up by the tracing board. Like magic the negatives became positives in the pictures I took. I found old pics of my mom, dad, other family and friends that are absolutely priceless!! I had so much fun! I highly recommend this app!

Next best thing to having pictures in hand. What I love about this app is that I have accumulated a few hundred negatives from grandparents and parents who have passed and not sure if I want to spend the money to have any of them printed. With this app, I am able to see the pictures on the negatives and determine what ones to print and pass on to relatives. Wow the memories it unfolds!

Works fine-ish. Wanna be nagged by “helpful” pop ups every time you so much as think about using the app? Want it to arbitrarily decide to crop a photo without your input? Want an app that’s pushier than a car salesman at the end of the month? Then here you go! It works fine most of the time, but I’m the three days I’ve been trying to evaluate it, I’ve spent more time being nagged to buy or click out of “helpful” instructional popups than I have actually getting any meaningful results. If you plan to immediately buy, it’s probably less baggy about that (but don’t forget the ads about all the stuff you can buy to go along with the app; gotta have those!)

Disappointed. I was initially impressed with how well the app scans in most negatives HOWEVER I am SO unimpressed with the reliability of 1) the scans actually saving, and 2) them actually showing up in FilmBox so I can download them. I’m afraid to scan in more than 10 negatives without checking to see if they’re going to save and then be downloadable. I have had to rescan over 50% of the negatives and some of them I’ve had to rescan more than once. It’s a very frustrating process. It might be okay if you didn’t have a lot of negative to do, but if you do, at this point I couldn’t recommend you use this app.

Best app I tried. I tried 4 negative scanning apps and this was by far the best! It easily crops and recognizes photos. Easy to export. Quick turn over between scans. A few tips. Follow their directions. Hold the negative at least 2 inches away from the white screen otherwise it will look pixelated. Hold the phone as close to the negative as you can. Use the voice control feature. Practice. Try a few different angles and a few different distances until you get the best look. Once I had my chosen method I was able to scan 5 rolls of film in an hour or less. (I had a tiny bit of trouble finding a good solid white background but eventually I opened a blank note and turned my brightness all the way up.) I hooked clothes pins over my laptop screen with a flexible wire to hold the negative still and away from the screen. Then I was able to easily steady my iPhone near the negative to get a good shot. Another option would be to steady your phone with a tripod or kick-stand. My scans were not as good as the originals were, but these were pictures that were lost to me. It was wonderful to see them again.

FilmBox app. I love this app. I just started using it today. Easy to figure everything out and I love the color fix to change from black and white. I’ve shared some very old photos that would be lost forever. I had thought about getting someone to make pictures from the negatives but found it very expensive. I would recommend this to anyone who has a lot of old negatives that they would like to breathe new life into. Upon using the app, my phone said I didn’t have room to use any of my apps. I deleted a lot of apps. Today I found the problem. FilmBox filled my photo app with many, many, many duplicate pictures. I hope they can fix this. I may have to delete their app if they don’t.

Backlight reflects phone into pic/negative. No matter the lighting I use, the backlight reflects the phone camera into the negative. I’ve used multiple different angles, and moved negative away from backlight, doing everything as recommended with lighting and can’t get it completely gone. If I move negative or camera so that you don’t see it, the quality deteriorates tremendously. I just updated the app after scanning negatives and now it keeps telling me I forgot a backlight and I am using the same backlight from your website I was before the updates. Very frustrated with this. Don’t waste your money like I did.

I want to Cry. I had photos of my now 18 year old son on old film and my dad. My son and I have been apart for 16 years and my dad died 10 years ago. Bringing these pictures back to life, brought back a lot of feeling. Gave me the strength and courage to find my son. He’s a big man now!🥰 Thanks. No joke I was only going to do the 3 day free trial, but it work! I got to pay for this. Walgreens wanted $100 deposit, could be more and it would take 3 weeks. Thanks again FilmBox!

Sad. UPDATE....After receiving a response it said I could contact a developer. I sent an email With my comment & a copy of response. All I got in return was the identical comment as the first time. The support system is totally useless! I downloaded this app today to do 6 negatives. I had to try each a couple times. After approximately 12 scans it would not let me scan any more without upgrading, even though it said free for 3 days. It was less than 3 hours! The scans I did were not that great even following the directions. Not happy with the app & not worth $5.99 a month. I have deleted app from phone & definitely will not be using it again.

When it works, it’s great! Way too many glitches…. Sometimes it scans and crops just right, but about 70% of the time, it will scan an entire negative and then when it crops it, it only gives you a small strip of the picture. I have had to rescan my grandma’s high school graduation photo about 30 times, rotating and flipping the negative and moving my phone to different angles only to have 30 pictures of just her feet and some grass. Very, very frustrating. This has been happening more and more often lately.

difficult to find all premium options. why do you only advertise the $30 price?? I came here to write a bad review because there were no other payment options, and had to find out about the monthly option from the reviews? Just bad marketing, honestly. Features are fantastic especially for how easy they are to use (only with premium). I recommend the $6/mo to start unless you’ll be using the app consistently for 2 years. Bummer they don’t have an in between. I wish the auto crop feature was a little better considering I don’t have a single negative film that has holes. I’m scanning photos from 1933, not the ‘90s. I’m considering drawing strips of fake holes to place next to the photos so I’m not spending a full minute to hand crop each photo after scanning.

Works well, recommend accessories. This app works well, but it is so much easier with the inexpensive phone mount and light pad. A tip: Scans of non-standard negs (odd sizes or no sprocket holes) often get cropped down to only a part of the picture by the app. However, the missing parts are not deleted and can be recovered by using the cropping tool to expand the preserved field.

Works well but not worth a subscription. The app is pretty straight forward to use and it does a good job auto cropping the picture. It is hard to find a good backlight source where you don’t pic up other objects with glare. My biggest complaint is that you have to be on subscription to use it. I will never buy an app on subscription unless it is per year. This app has no reason to be on a monthly subscription, other than to take money from people that forget to unsubscribe. There is no update content or development that happens beyond regular updates for iOS system updates. I would gladly pay a set price for this. $5-10$ is fair, in my opinion. Reach out to me developers if you want to make a one time sale. It would improve your rating. 👍🏻

The Best!. I downloaded the app last year but hadn’t yet signed up. Found some old negatives from the 50s of my grandmother’s just recently after her passing and WOW! Talk about a walk down memory lane. This app revealed photos my family had thought were lost and forgotten. Scans look to produce great prints, too!! So glad I kept the app and finally paid for it! Well worth the purchase. Definitely recommend this app!!

This is a great app. I’ve been waiting for a simple easy way to view negatives I have. I actually have old negatives I found in my moms belongs after she was gone. This app has allowed me to view these, in some cases treasure photos that no one in my family has ever seen. I’m sure there are other ways I could have viewed these negatives or just had them develop but with this app I am able to view so easily without a lot of effort or expense.

Perfect App. This app is a miracle for me! It is super easy to use. The developer even provides a backlight web link so you don’t have to create your own. Your negatives are developed in seconds. You can share with friends, family, and even on social media right for your phone. Thank you so much for doing this. Well worth the upgrade!!

Enriching my family history. My mother left behind hundreds of negatives, of which the photographs were disbursed among family members and I’m sure mostly lost. Developing these would’ve been a monumental cost and not many people want actual photos now anyway. The scanning appHas allowed me a peek into the past of my family’s life and enabled me to share photos with interested family members. I have had quite a lot of fun with this.

Fun to ID old negs, but…... Like I said, it’s fun to identify old negatives, but very difficult to keep the negatives flat and everything from not moving even when you buy the stuff that they constantly hawk to you. On top of that and the worst thing for me is that I find it very cumbersome and difficult to actually load these images to my computer. So far the only thing I can figure out is I have to email it to myself and then download it from there each image. Too bad I was pretty excited about it when I first found it.

Automatic cropping is terrible. We found a treasure of family negatives - relatives that died long before we were born. We found this app and it’s amazing - except the auto crop feature is bizarre. Every single time it crops out all the faces - all you get is an elbow or a belt buckle. You can go recrop manually but what a waste of time. Why have this feature at all? I know how to crop photos - leave it to me to decide what to keep and what to cut. The AI does a terrible job.

Filmbox. The app is easy to use. I did use my imac as a backing light source to take pics of the hand held negs initially but the I learned to just take the edge of the neg strip to my computer screen. My just holding up to the light was too shaky. Once i did this it worked very well. My expectations were met. The image editing was rudimentary but quite sufficient. I would offer it as a suggestion to anyone looking to capture old negatives and convert them to images.

Happy to see my mom again. My daughter heard of this app on TikTok and of course I had to download it cause I had some negatives that I’ve had since 2005. My mom passed away in June of 2018 and I had to see some old pics that we took with her while I was visiting that year. And all I want to say is THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH cause it brought back so many memories and it saved me a trip to the store to develop them. I would highly recommend this app to everyone.

Absolutely not worth paying the shocking sum of $40.. Buy a flatbed scanner, yes it is five times the price if you pay for unlimited use of the app, but the images out of this app at best are a low quality 2 megapixel image that is not even good enough for Instagram which already absolutely crushes photos. This app would be overpriced if it was a one time payment of $5.99. But they expect to charge you that amount every month. Most people I know who need to scan film, either old family photos or photos they are actively are taking will have enough film to justify spending the money on a real scanner. A flatbed scanner pays for itself after only 20 photos or so compared to having them scanned by a lab. DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THIS APP.

Great app. I have a drawer full of negatives of all family photos. The originals are mostly faded or have been lost. This app will help to preserve our family memories and make it easier to share photos with my family. It works great with black and white, but color photos, especially old ones, come out looking a little muddied. The colorization tool is a fun feature, but it is not very exact.

BojiAlan. OK gang I’ve used it for about two months. Paid the fee to get a monthly usage – – the consistent pop ups reminding me for $.99 a month I can no longer have pop-ups – – the somewhat clunky ability to save your photos – – purchase the overhead arm, hanging photo, shoot device for 1499 on sale – – waste of money– – probably had 200 photos to do. I’ve now given up after about 20 to 25 and taking it to a professional studio to have done – – been a newspaper photographer for 40 years. biggest problem continue to get random shadows no matter how I take photos. I’ve got four $3000 light tables soft back lighting all the drills and my phone 13 pro just won’t pull it off so just a heads up I guess it was worth 25 bucks. I’ll bill my client such as life.

Could actually try before I bought.. I like that I could actually test this app out before I purchased the premium option. I was trying another app for negative scanning and I couldn’t see results unless I upgraded to the paid for app. I could scan negatives and see the images with the free version then upgraded to get the premium version. This is how an app should work. Let me try it completely before I buy it. thank you.

Not worth the money. I followed the directions, thought I was following them wrong so went back to trouble shoot. Spent over an hour adjusting how I was holding the phone, making sure it was the correct distance from the backlight and the camera. Put my phone on a tripod so I wouldn’t shake it, made sure the photos were 2 inches from the back light and still everything was grainy, extremely washed out, even with adjusting the backlight, and just super low resolution. Took my negatives to my scanner and found a website that reverse the colors for free and now I have hi res pics. Sorry this app was a great idea but it’s just not there yet.

What a special treat. I have been going through a box of old negatives of my mom's. There are hundreds to view and I have been finding photos I have never seen before. This is an easy process and it's wonderful to find pictures I didn't know existed. You have the option to colorize as well. Not all of them turned out as well as I had hoped but that really was due to the condition of the negative rather than a flaw in the app. I highly recommend.

Honestly terrible.. This app is quite awful to say the least. The so called “auto cropping” feature only seemed to work once out of my several dozen tries. The colours are supremely off compared to scans I have done with the exact same negatives using even amateur equipment, which for me is the biggest issue. Also the scans from the app seem as though they are altered to be more grainy and have more noise in the images than there should be, almost like those vintage Super 8 emulator apps. Even just taking a photo and reversing the negative in photoshop myself is significantly better and only takes marginally more time and effort. Would not recommend unless you don’t have any other options to scan negatives. edit: After receiving a response from the developer with their typical “negative has to be two inches from computer screen and the camera needs to see the side holes” response that every review gets, I have a bit more to say. It isn’t a problem with the distance from the backlight or the framing of the negative. I read the instructions before trying to scan my negatives and when I had poor results I read the reviews. Holding the negative the supposed proper distance, or closer or further, has little to no effect on the grainy results and even less on the washed out and dull colours. Upon further consideration, would give zero stars to the app if I could, and negative stars to the copied and pasted response nearly every review gets from the developer.

Don’t waist your time. Don’t waist your time if you want to scan more than 5 photos. The app work pretty well. It’s Easy to use and definitely scans the pictures well. I was surprised how well it worked, and I think it’s so cool that this app exists. However, it’s definitely not worth the $30 which is what you have to pay every year if you don’t want to be able to scan only about 10 photos then i will make you pay. And the most ridiculous part is you can’t even save YOUR OWN pictures unless you pay. And, if you try to screenshot a picture it will watermark all your pictures and make to to where you can’t remove the watermark!

Unbelievably awesome!!. I have an old box of negatives, most from 1950’s through 1980’s. I want to have them scanned but most has to have a special scanner due to negative size. I checked a few places for pricing to scan them, very expensive to get them done so I stored them about 16 years ago. I found this app on the App Store and gave it a try.... I am in awe of how well the app works. I would recommend this app to anyone that has old negatives they want to turn into pictures. I don’t think five stars is enough to rate this app, hats off to you!!! ❤️

Lots of issues. If you have a great old b/w film negative this can work well. Negatives from the 70s and 80s produce such poor quality they are completely unusable. Also, unless you have perfectly preserved (and totally flat) 35 mm negatives the cropping tool is both random and cannot be overridden, so “scans” come out with half the photo missing and or incredibly warped. I am a professional designer and have worked on computers and scanning photos, negatives, slides, etc. for decades so I know what I’m doing more than the average Joe. Save yourself some headache and heartache and find a better option.

Recovered OLD film negatives of my recently deceased wife. Thank You for this APP!. I was able to recover old photos from negatives that every place would NO LONGER develop or had to risk mailing original negatives and them being LOST in transit forever! This app was and IS a Godsend to me as I EASILY GOT BEAUTIFUL QUALITY RESULTS at home EASILY of photos I wanted very much of my dear young recently deceased wife. Thank You for this APP developers! Amazing APP!

After 50 years!. I found your app for negatives and got so excited. My husband and I never had our wedding pictures developed. I kept saying I was going to get them done since my brother took the pictures and I had the negatives. Well we just had our 50th anniversary and I used your app. What a great gift after all these years! They came out great. Thank you.

Great app!. I’m so excited to see pictures I thought I had lost forever. This app is very easy and quick to use. Just follow the detailed directions. I have not printed any of the pictures out, but just seeing them on my phone is priceless. The coloring in the pictures isn’t great but that might be because my negatives are 35 years old. I don’t blame the app. I would definitely recommend it.

I’m blown away. I was very skeptical about the app considering the negative reviews, but when I tried it I was blown away. It recognizes the pictures easily and turns them into photos with no problem as long as you follow the directions!! Also you don’t have to get a subscription, they have a free option as well. If you are looking for the subscription it’s only 5.99$ a month which is a lot cheaper than renting a local dark room. The only complaint I have is the grainy look it adds to the photos. But maybe they will fix it in the future. I love the app!!!

Havin A Blast with the past. For the longest time, I’ve been searching for a place that develops film and negatives. I come from a family of “photo sleuths”, and I literally have thousands of old negatives. I was one of those people who take the negative up to the light, magnifying glass and squint like mad trying in vein to identify who’s who, and where when, …. For years I’ve wondered exactly what treasures of yesteryear lay dormant in my attic. Then one day, I found this wonderful magic app. I have to stop writing this now, and scan more negatives.

Great App!. I have scanned literally thousands of photos with this app! The latest version has some welcome changes. Thank you for not automatically cropping so much of the border. Much better! The time required for processing between scans is also much better in this version. I wish you had kept the “Add” button at the bottom of the screen. The new “Scan” button that can only be accessed if you scroll all the way to the top of the photo library is inconvenient. Overall a great app!

Not good.. I looked at the feedback the developer gave others to make sure I was using the app properly, but it still did not work well. I figured it wouldn't work well, it seemed too good too be true. Scanning is very tedious at home, so I thought it was worth a shot. Considering this is a monthly paid subscription it definitely doesn't work well. My worst amateur flat bed scans are 1000x better than these photos. I would give this app a better review if it was free or one time fee of a dollar. It wouldn't produce useable results, but it could be used for a simple preview if a back light is not available. I could also see a free option be useful for someone who quickly wants to show their older family members some kind of image of their old negatives, but I'd never post or show any of the images I got from the app. The advertisement video is very misleading.

Subscription 👎👎👎👎. When will these companies realize that no one wants to rent software! Update after the maker of this app reached out to me, it seems that not only do they not understand that people do not want to rent software, they contacted me to inform me that in the description of the app that it says “ In order to have access to all the features the app has to offer, you would need to subscribe”. Apparently they think that I can’t read and comprehend the English language, when it’s quite clear that they they may have wanted to pay more attention in kindergarten when they were teaching reading.

This app gave me a part of my family back. This app made me cry. I was able to see my grandfathers face for the first time. The layout of the app is easy to use and the functionality does exactly what it says it will do. Make sure that you follow the directions for the best results!! Great job, developers and thank you again for giving me a part of my family history that I thought was lost forever!!

Not as advertised. As a professional film film photographer with years of film scanning experiences. I was really excited to try this app. It looked super fun and user friendly. The quality of the images is no where near what the adds show or what the tutorial showed. The camera doesn’t focus well, there a lot of motion blur with the handheld phone and the color is super muddy. I spent some time with it and really tried not make it work by troubleshooting to the best of my ability. I couldn’t get any images to scan well or look anything like what this app says it’s capable of. Not impressed, pretty disappointed, I want my money back.

Amazing. This app is amazing. I had found some film when I was cleaning and wanted to look at them but I did not know where to go. Than I heard about this app on social. I was pretty iffy about it but I just wanted to try it out. It actually work it transform the films in to pictures like it says! Only thing I am not a fan of the payment to keep the photos off the app which honestly okays. Those pictures are worth it. If I had a chance to do an add for it I wouldn’t pass it 😂😂😂! But honestly in my opinion I am truly happy about this app.

Stoopid simple-). This app is amazingly simple to use. I started with the trial and they quickly shut me down after only a few scans, but I was already sold. I bought it for 2 years and I plan on getting my money’s worth. The pictures come to life from a quick scan of 40 year old negatives. I’m looking forward to this. Thank you-!-

ONLY $5.99/month. Hi there! I came across this app and thought it was too good to be true. I wasted my time DL-ing the app and then wasted more time to watch their intro, and then come to see “try 3 days free then $5.99/month”, don’t waste your time DL-ing this app if you’re NOT gonna pay to use this feature. With $5.99 I can just go get my pictures develop at the store and the pictures quality are probably 1000% better. I was a little disappointed that I cannot try it free for the first time, to see if I really liked the quality of the picture. Imagine taking a picture on your computer monitor screen, the picture is distorted or blurry, or just bad quality. I would not recommend this app, and oh yeah I deleted the APP in a split of a second.

Absolutely Horrendous. Well. I had hoped this would help me digitize my old film from high school. The app is horrible. There is no other way to say it. The FREE app from Kodak is far superior to this. I don’t know if it was their first attempt, but it went horribly wrong somewhere. Not even sure HOW it got released! I tried it two ways with the same bad results. I tried the suggested screen method, and I used the little cardboard “mobile film scanner” from Kodak. Color casts abound. Skin tones were awful. I even tried using a professional light box (remember them?). Sam results. Big disappointment, especially knowing how well their Photomyme app performs. I think they got ahead of themselves. It might do ok with black and white, but the free Kodak app work well, and it’s not $6 per month. And, fwiw, subscription software should be illegal. If I don’t need server services. Why do I need to pay for them?? We left Adobe and went to Affinity over that crap. And we loved the switch. Just putting it out there!

Amazing, easy to use, so happy this app exists. We used the light source the app recommends and on our first scan my knees buckled. I can’t believe this is even possible and the results are amazing. After recently finding old pictures of family from the 50’s that are starting to crack and fade this is a life saver for not having to ship them all off and hope they don’t get lost or ruined. We are so happy with this app and will be upgrading now that we know how easy this is and how awesome the quality is.

Spectacular Service!. I found several boxes in the attic full of pictures from the 70s-80s that my mother took and had on these Kodak slides. This app helped me recover over 900 of those photos and made a whole album for them on my Google photos! Thank you allowing me to be able to share these photos with my family

Great. Easy to use great

Reviving my photos!. My aunt took a bunchh of photos with negative films left behind since I was little. Found this app in an Instagram add and now ive been sharing all of these memories of photos that have been instantly revealed through this simple app to my whole family on social media. I still can’t believe this exists and now my family is in awe that there’s use to the undeveloped old films! Thanks so much for being a genius and creating this app thank uuuuu:)

Amazing!. Really easy to use and really helpful! Brought a negative of my grandfather that my dad had never seen before back to life and recoloured it!

Doesn’t work. Money grab. Downloaded this app, scanned negative, guess what! It saved as a negative. Searched the F&Q looked in the support pages. Nothing. Don’t bother.

Perfect. It’s perfect! I use this app to proof my negs before doing a full scan- its exactly what I wanted- I even use my Just light box .

Wouldn’t recommend. Colours are horrible and pictures not clear when enlarged. Overall poor quality.

Sensationele. Just Amazing how much colour can be put on a b&w! I have to still explore the app but if it can transform then that is awesome !

Not worth the price. Terrible quality. Colours are completely wrong. False advertising to say the least. Should be a free trial, even just one scan worth. But they’ve got my money, so why would they care to fix the issue?

Terrible app.. Not worth the time and effort in downloaded. Terrible quality. Better off buying a negative scanner to get better results! I don’t recommend, not even the three day trial!

Doesn’t work. Most expensive app I’ve bought and it doesn’t work. Photos are washed out and pixelated despite trying multiple different ways. Save your $$$ as this app is a scam.

Photomyne app. The app is great to use Scanning all of my dads old black and white negatives

Useless. Poor quality, can’t even save a photo if u don’t sign up It was advertised as a free app

Bringing Back Memories!. To see old photos so quickly is awesome.

Alan. Every section of the bundle works exceptionally well

Love it. I had old negatives and was going to throw them away but this app saved them and now look great

Good app but.... This app works and is useful, however holding your iPhone with one hand and negative with the other is exhausting and tiring!

Probably the best out there.. I am amazed at how well this app is able to convert forgotten memories. The app is very user friendly and easy to use. Great job.

Unclear payment. I was excited about this app then before i know its taken a $30 payment I’m now trying to cancel and pretty disappointed that it was unclear about 2 year subscription

Love this app. Love this APP bringing so many old photos to life

I am stunned as to how well this works.. I have scanned old negatives and even coloured them real pleased

Excited … then not so excited. The App demonstration looked great and the quality of the images scanned to the negative brilliant. I tried and each scan. They were so blurred or so faded that you had to squint to try and make out what you were seeing. Absolute rubbish of an app

No good. They won’t let you download or save a test pic unless you sign up and pay

Scam warning. The three free days here is a nonsense - once you give your credit card details there is no way of cancelling this , i am going to have to cancel my credit card !!!! All over 9.95 - this is nuts - do not touch this product with a barge pole

Family tree. A must have app that will bring back some great memories and give you some everlasting pleasure for all the family now and into the future

Can’t use it - has a quick start demo then won’t let you do anything else dodgy af. Can’t use it - has a quick start demo then won’t let you do anything else dodgy af

I am so happy. I can see naw my pictures that I have lost with this app ❤️ thanks for your help ❤️

🤙. Great app if you shoot film. Follow instructions for highest quality. Really good communication as well. Consider the price before subscribing.

Amazing - Brings negatives to life. This is a must have app for somebody looking through collections of negatives or slides. Works very well.

Incredible. Wow. I was suspicious at first but when used correctly this app really works! Thank you so much!

Gouging paying customers. I can’t believe I have just paid $62 for a phone app and immediately bombarded ads for add ons and then An option to remove them for an extra $1.62. What a gouge, shame on you.

Bit fuzzy but I might need practice. I can see the benefits but the price is a bit high if the quality of my scans is indicative. You would need to plan ahead including having a suitable light source and something to hold negative strips steady

The best photo App ever. Great for scanning old photos, negatives and slides. Extremely happy with results and so easy to use.

Excellent. Easy to use for copying your negatives and prints.

Blurs the scans. Not suitable for serious work. Good for quick scans but that doesn’t justify the price of $62.

No free trial. A free trial is when you try before you buy Having to give iTunes payment details prior to trying is nothing more than the usual parasitical ploy of sucking money from people via monthly auto debit long after they’ve forgotten they paid for it or until they go into subscriptions and stop it

Not real picture after scanning. The quality of the photo after being scanned looks like a painting, not as real as advertised on the video.

No need for this app.. This app is an expensive scam. You can get better results using your normal phone app, and converting negative images into positives using any number of free apps for iPhone or PC. Eg for windows irfanview. Of course with photo shop type editors you can tweak and correct colors etc to perfection.

Very disappointed. I was so looking forward to scanning and saving all my 35mm negatives, but either I’m doing something wrong or the app operates in the reverse of what I was hoping to enjoy. I scanned Color negatives and during the process the photo scans as color for an instant but then goes straight to black and white! Why??

Three day free trial, my a*#. Three day trial blocked me within the first 10 photos ( half an hour at best). Unless I payed their $60 fee. Couldn’t save, upload or take any shots unless $$$$ . Could be an ok app once you pay a yearly fee but how many negatives or slides do people upload per day. I only wanted to do a few. In the end I got nothing.

This so so good!!. Best technique for me was doing this.. 1. Place the negatives 10cm above an ipad or iphone with a well lit plain picture of a white background, 2. take a photo of it, using another mobile phone with this app installed on it! Works so well!! If your distance is not right, it will throw the picture off, so gotta get the distance right!

Wow. FilmBox does EVERYTHING it advertises. It’s so easy to use even a technophobe like me finds it easy. The quality of the photos is really good and the colouring feature is amazing. 10 out of 10

Great Idea but Didn’t work. Sorry guys, as great as the apps are in theory, no matter what I did just the pixilation just wouldn’t stop, tried every tip i seen on the reviews, regardless how far away etc i was very grainy and pixeled images. Will purchase a proper scanner to do my photos as need good quality to print them for scrapbooking etc

Yeah, nah. One of the worst user interfaces I have seen to scan a negative you have to click the button to add photos. Then you have to click through four screens EVERYTIME you want to scan a slide. It’s ok if you just leave it in scan mode to quickly determine what the content of a negative is before you scan it on a proper scanner

A really good app for scanning negatives!. This by far is the best way to scan and know what is placed in your negatives! I found so many negatives for my mom and they all worked!

Amazing!!!. This is one of the best I have used. Managed to bring a 70 year old negative to life!

Useless. It’s not users friendly,I have follow all steps which you mention then also photos colours combinations is so bad and it’s looks like very dull ,I don’t want to waste my money ,kindly disconnect me and refund my money

Shareholder greed has broken a good thing. Apples insatiable appetite for profit has led companies down this ridiculous subscription route. I don’t care if something works or not, I refuse to participate in death by a thousand cuts

Pixelated. Fairly disappointed, I have the Photo scanning app and love it, but when I followed all their instructions the photos created from the negatives remain pixelated.

Great. So easy to use love it

Pretty good. I have heaps of old old negatives from my grandfather that I have no idea what I’ll find so wrapped I’ve found this app. I find doing the white light on computer makes it’s pixelated I’ve had better success with white/light box but not a bad little app. Probably someone you’d use and download as many keepers and then unsubscribe after a month as only have so many negatives. I even used a old glass negative and have a pic of 4 fellas from someone’s past , I have no idea who they are 🙌

This app brought my father to life. My dad died when I was 14 months old. My mom recently passed away as well and I literally got a ton of black and white négative photo slides (and film) photos either lost or never developed . I downloaded this app and in a matter of seconds I saw photos of my dad holding me. Images i never saw before . I colourized them and the impact was huge and profound to me. I am so excited and grateful! ❤️🙏🏼

Only a trial app. This seems like a pretty good app except I couldn’t scan more than about 10 negatives before I was refused access to the app until I had “upgraded for unlimited scanning.” for $37.99 a year. I didn’t have time to fully explore the app so I’m undecided at this point. I also have quite a few old negatives that don’t have the film sprocket holes so it doesn’t work very well with them.

Unbelievable!. Got some old negatives of my mom (88 yrs old), you should of seen her face when she saw herself on those pictures (14 yrs old )!Priceless!!!!

Love this app. Great app. Using it to bring negatives from 1920’s back to life. Can’t say enough about the clarity! Thank u Photomyne

Good scanning for negatives. Easy to use.. Good scanning for negatives. Easy to use.

Amazing. It works just as you’d hope. It was also useful on box camera negatives.

Daniel gets giddy. I get giddy using film box - so easy to scan and see pictures from so long ago- many others have appreciated them - as I’ve shared them in Facebook and otherwise I used to take lots of pictures 50 years ago- and collected old negatives- many of them large ( too large for modern enlargers)-now so easy to finally see !

Great App. This brought back so many photos that I had lost but still have the negatives.

Amazing!!. I have a bag full of negatives and they are very hard to see. They are very old but bringing back some sweet memories. Thank you so much for this special app that you created it’s simply amazing!!

didn’t work. Just simply didn’t work it wouldn’t let me in the app just kept making to the tutorial over and over again it’s a good idea tho

Amazing!!!. Super user friendly! Awesome results!!!

Great app!. Fantastic idea, not too complicated to use for someone not so great with new technologies 👍🏻👍🏻

Expensive!. I loved the app so I got the colours feature. And bought the subscription. I added the slide app and now have been charged over 7.09 Canadian. It didn’t say I would be charged. On top of that the slides didn’t work. The live aspect maybe that was where the extra video feed came in. I was going to give this a rating of 5, but the fees should be clear so you aren’t being charged with extras you don’t want.

WOW. I just used it to scan a view negatives, and so far I’m really impressed by this app.

It’s a shame. The developers clearly have some talent, but marketing and customer service isn’t among them. What are otherwise pretty good apps by photomyne are spoiled by their snotty responses and confusing messaging. I have paid subscriptions to two of their apps - FilmBox and SlideScan. They do a pretty good job of digitizing photos from negatives and slides. I’d like to use their cloud service, but apparently - from all I can gather from their short, snotty responses and referrals back to their faq (which does nothing to answer the questions) you must have a Photomyne Account to do that. And it appears that purchasing one or two photomyne apps and registering both with an email address via their in app purchase, does not constitute having a photomyne account. You *also* need to purchase their Photomyne photo scanning app in order to have access to the cloud storage. Three things are consistent throughout the Photomyne app experience - you can see this in the reviews of all of the Photomyne apps: 1. The apps core functions are well designed. 2. The cost to get the promoted functionality is obscured by the developers almost to the point of being a scam. They will deny this, and further obfuscate their intentions by saying “we clearly told you so” when in fact, nothing is clear. 3. The developers responses are rude and generally unhelpful. I’d give the apps a 4 star rating, the cost is plenty once you figure it out - so that part gets a 2 star rating, and their communications are so bad that overall this barely rates one star.

works very well. recommend

Terrible app. What a waste of $40!. Don’t waste your money. Followed all instructions and photos are blurry, colors are horrible and lines everywhere. I want my money back

Works but quality is trash. Garbage quality scans. I highly suggest anyone who wants to scan negatives a proper scanner. They would look 1000x better than this app. You’re getting 2 megapixel scan when you could get 30.

Not bad. Took a while to get best distance and orientation. Still sometimes truncates negatives. Tedious work.

Déception. L’essai gratuit m’a permis de faire quelque photos très très floues. Ça ne donne pas envie de payer pour ça.

Rip off app. Don’t bother ask you for money right away

Question. Is that 39.99 a one time fee?

GREAT APP!. This app is so amazing! I finally get to see all my negatives come to life. Do you charge for the full application in Canadian or US dollars?

Steady the Camera. As long as you can hold your iPhone camera steady this app works wonders in viewing and saving camera scan of a negative.

Charges. Hello, what is the cost of downloading this application, and is it a one-time charge only? Please advise. Thank you!

A useful Tool. A little tricky to use as the quality of the end result relies on the steadiness of both hands. The voice command is a great tool to achieve this but it seems to need refreshing after two or three takes which is frustrating when you are all set up to say “go” and it fails to work. So back to the beginning, refresh voice command, set up to take the shot and go. I’ve tried a tripod and trying to figure out a way to have the slide held 2” from the screen that doesn’t involve a shaky hand. Open to suggestions.

Requires login prior to any action. Requiring a login is bad enough. Requiring it before we can do *anything* is an instant deletion.

Photomyme. Not the best app fir the money I excepted better. I am disappointed I paid for a year. Doesn’t work as it says. Won’t work on slot of pictures

Good. Does what it says

FilmBox experience. First of all very great investment on getting the app, but if you want to save pics you have to pay 39.99 I think but it was worth it and now I get to see the pictures that my mom took of me when I was a baby and the heart warming ones I love too

So many memories. I’m happy to finally get rid of my massive box of negatives and have the pictures. You do need a steady hand.

Not what is advertised and have to pay first for 1 year. I couldn’t try it without purchasing a year first and when I did, it was TERRIBLE quality. Have sent three messages to customer service and nothing. Scam not scan…Don’t waste your money like I did.

Amazing. Very amazing photos Thank you 👍

Useless. Useless app, takes picture of negative, shows it’s negative and then doesn’t transform it into a usable picture, no setting/options to do it either. Don’t waste your time or money on this.

great. works great! easy to use

FilmBox. Works well for showing negatives but is really lacking in the sharing of same. Absolutely not as easy as they say it is which is frustrating as hell. Could not transfer to my computer for printing or sharing or even editing. Thought they were saved to my computer and deleted them from my phone only to find them unavailable on my computer. A real waste of time and money.

Great app.. Totally delighted with my first scan. I recommend this highly.

Works pretty well. Works well, good usability. No lifetime purchase option is a problem. If I could spend 40-60$ CAD and use the app indefinitely this would be a 5 star review.

Film box. Not for me, but I am sure it is for some people

Great app. Having a great time developing old negatives

Just Amazing…. Clean up the clutter! And saves in my devices 👍🏻🥰

Old found negatives. Brought to life my grandparents and parents! Made so many people happy to see them!

My negatives.. Love this. I found old negatives from 75 years ago.

Can’t try it at all. I’m not one to sign up to test an app and risk getting spammed. So you get a one star review because you wasted my time.

Awesome. Really enjoy saving pictures and restoring the past. This app works great.

I’m living this app. I’m on a week’s trial and already know I’ll be signing up for 2 years. It’s amazing.

Just amazing. I didn’t believe it would work but it does and more then expected

Advertising. Bought the app so I don’t have to look at advertising. I’ve received several email about purchasing other products for other FilmBox products. If I want more I will purchase without email reminders that they exist. I do like the product so I will change my rating. Thanks

Warnings/notifications. The instructions/warnings/etc within the app while trying to take a picture are beyond frustrating. I don’t need a notification about finding a white backlight every time I want to take a picture. It’s unnecessary if I’ve already successfully completed. The same with the stupid notification about holding the film strip close: yeah, got it the first second twentieth time you told me. App not worth the $40.

Superb!. Definitely recommend! I love the developer’s responses, I read them every night before I go to sleep. Very witty and honestly one of the main selling points along with the amazing app quality 💅🏽

Quick and easy!. This app makes it quick and easy to scan in old negatives from old photos. Just snap a pic of it, the app does the rest! You can fine tune and adjust. Well worth the additional in app charge for unlimited use and sharing.

Thank You. I found a bunch of photos in with my deceased mothers things. I could not believe my family’s faces popping out at me. I plan on using this on my photos as well. I shared pictures of my 80 yo cousin when she was about 5 from the negatives. Again, thank you for the thrill of seeing my family once again in negatives from before I was Born.

Needs work. I appreciate what you guys are trying to do but the results are just not sharp enough. It is difficult to avoid distortion and I would suggest some kind of level to solve this problem. At first it was very I was very excited to see negatives that I never printed and for that opportunity this serves a purpose. Also the fact that an adjustment has to be made to make the image full frame is time consuming and inconvenient.

Where have you been all my life?. After 25 years of hauling crates of old negatives around from state to state, I finally get to see what’s on them with the click of a button? Presto, their digitized, orderly, cropped, even colorized if they were originally black and white. I think I’ve died and gone to heaven, love, love, LOVE this app!!!

There’s no free option. Missing from their marketing materials is the fact that there is nothing free about this app. It will cost you $30 for two years of access. I’m so sick of developers that bury that info and won’t let you try the app to see if you want to purchase it. It may be a great app but I’ll skip this since you aren’t being honest upfront. Also note that anyone who complains about the subscription portion is chastised by the developer about it not being something to include in a review. Way to alienate people. Bad customer service.

Great app!. My parents found some really old slides that are 2x2 and probably from the 40’s or 50’s and I was able to capture the photos using another phone with a bright white screen like they suggested. You have to get it just right, but the photos are really clear. I am impressed.

Covid Photo Finds. Found some negatives while finally cleaning the house due to Covid. Hilarious! 1988 High School pics over 30 years ago. It’s like reliving the moment. I love this. So glad I tried. Now if I could just stop looking at pics and clean my house maybe my husband won’t be mad today.

3x4” Negatives from ca. 1908. So far, so good! Using my light box, my iPhone, and the app to scan travel photos from my grandmothers trip around the world with her parents. Love the ease, and the editing tools to. Not always sure if I get the photos correctly aligned, meaning not backwards!

Doesn’t work well with iPhone. the application wants me to be as close to the film as possible, and have the image fillThe screen, but blocks my camera from focusing at that distance. As in if I don’t run the app and I just use the camera I can get up that close in focus, but with this application running it stops the camera from focusing closer than a set distance ….which is too far… So the application keeps telling me I need to get up closer but if I get up closer the image is not in focus

Revive old Memories. I am seeing pictures I had completely forgotten about - it is a pure journey into my past - the slides that I thought were too faint to see were brought out to enjoy! It is quite nice to colorize some of them - this may take me a year to complete but well worth the time!

Love this AP. This AP is so useful for quick referencing old negative and slides. I also like for taking photos with it and the voice control to release the shutter is very useful for sharper pics. Best not to hand hold the images your scanning. Consider buying their cell phone holder.

Negatives finally come to life. The FilmBox app is great. I’ve been taking pics of family negatives from the 1950s. One problem I run into is sometimes I will only get a pic of part of the negative. Don’t know what’s up with that but I keep trying. Other than that it’s a great app for bringing back old memories in black and white (and colorized if you so desire). Thanks!

Voice activation. Love the voice activation option. It helps to not have To remember to hold down the button for 3 full seconds and not need for holding the phone without me moving it while capturing an mage. Just say “go “ and the scan starts. Not sure if it was old negatives or the program but most pics were not very clear / crisp on details.

Almost perfect. The quality of the scan was quite good. I had a problem scanning color film and using a light background while holding my iPhone. Also had to take several photos until the automatic crop was correct. Overall there is room for improvement, and I didn’t like the subscription.

Not worth it. I got this app to scan some 120 B&W negatives that I have been shooting lately. The negative conversion was good but the auto cropping was HORRIBLE. I had to scan some of the pictures 6 times to get a halfway decent crop. The resolution of the scans were terrible. I used a light box and my loupe told me the focus was sharp but the scans were terrible. I tried to go back and rescan to improve the scans but it won’t let me since I’m not on the paid version. I am not commuting to a subscription unless the app does what it’s supposed to do, and this one does not. Even their trial automatically subscribed to subscription after 3 days. Nope!

This app is amazing. I came across some photo negatives my grandfather had taken during his time on tinian during ww2, I was not only able to scan the photos but also colorize them. I can’t believe the quality of these photos they are over 70 yrs old.

Best Moments. Capturing my mother’s only negative picture I kept for years. She is 95, still very beautiful. Mom used to be a ballet dancer. I saw this app and downloaded it. Looked for the only two negative pictures I have of my mom. The nostalgia made me cry. She is just so beautiful as ballerina. I wished my brothers could see this now. Thank you!

Nice idea. Poor execution.. I’ve been using this ap for a few hours now and bottom line is fine for a quick grab for Facebook but even then the resolution is just terrible. Printing would be a joke. I have been conscious of holding the negative two inches from the light box and holding things steady but this ap is only worth a one time $5.99 not every month. I will probably delete it before the three days in spite of having thousands of negatives to scan. I’m just going to have to buy a actual scanner.

Really poor quality scans with poor color. The scans are not color accurate at all and the quality is really bad. And if your defense is, “you need to buy the macro lens and the subscription” then you might as well pay a film lane to use professional scanners to give you high-res scans of your photos. What really is disheartening is that some people probably scan priceless memories and threw away the negatives. No matter how you scan your photos you should never throw away your negatives.

Life changing!. I cannot thank film box enough for giving me the ability to pull pics out of old negatives. We have many old negatives of my belated husband, my children’s father, and we are ecstatic to finally be able to see him again in pics we never got to see. It’s so very wonderful thank you film box!!

Great Find in More than One Way!. I thought I would give this app a try. I usually don’t pay for apps but I’m glad I did. I have several negatives from my parents. One of the first ones I found was a picture of my mom with her first husband on their wedding day, no one had that picture!

Works Great!. The only real problem using this app is curved negatives. Not all negatives are flat, a lot of mine are curved a little. If it’s not flat the picture will be distorted. It’s a small problem I can work around. I was looking at buying a negative scanner for around $1,000. Nope not going to do it, this works great.

Not forthcoming about scans. The scans are very grainy and unusable. In the free mode is offering you a “print quality” option if you pay for the app. I did and the quality of the scan is the same. It also keeps asking you for your email in order to perform a task that airdrop can complete. And then I check their privacy policies and it looks like they are having a good time with a users info. The scans will turn a negative into a picture but it is unusable. 2 inches from a screen or not, the same poor quality.

Annoying. I got this app so iI could look at hundreds of negative to see what to keep. When I look at the negatives, annoying comments cover the photos that suggest how to make good photos out of them. That’s not what I want to do. This app needs a viewing mode. Then when I scan one to get a better look it shows the cute animation converting it THEN IT WISKS IT OFF TO ANOTHER PAGE BEFORE I CAN LOOK AT IT AND WHERE I HAVE TO DROP EVERYTHING AND GO THERE TO LOOK AT IT! And it saves it! I don’t want to save anything digitally. I want to sort through my negatives and toss what is no good.

What a pain. I was able to scan a few negatives and yes that did a pretty good job amazing technology however when I opened the app again to check it out all I get are ads ads ads sign up for the membership ads ads ads before I can even check out the thing. I’m sure I will delete it from my phone because I don’t wanna pay 30 bucks today

I got my memories back!. Amazing quality from some old negatives that had been stored away in extreme heat and cold. Original pictures were burned purposely by my ex-husband when I left him and filed for divorce. It was heartbreaking for more than 20 years! I thought I would never get to see the photos of my babies and me pregnant. Great App, y’all have no idea what this has done for me. ❤️

Amazing. A few quirks but overall this is an amazing app. I found a whole box of all kinds of negatives from my family’s early years 50 to 60 years ago and this app scanned them on my iPhone right away and perfectly and allowed me to colorize with a touch of a button if I wanted to, it’s really fantastic.

Fantastic !!. I scanned some old 65 year old negatives and they came out great. The only problem was holding the negatives two inches from monitor then trying to capture on my iPhone with the other hand. Once you get that down it’s fine. I even colorized a few. Awesome app.

Elias. This truly an amazing app!! I’ve compared it to other apps that I’ve downloaded, then deleted after comparing the quality of pictures, which was incredible, and the ease of using it! I’ve been using negatives that I’ve had for over 24 years! The pictures came out like they were taken yesterday! Absolutely great job!!!

Can’t believe my eyes. I’m so happy I saved old negative photos that belonged to my family because all our childhood photos were lost and now I have some of them back thank you sooooo much just wish it would bring the quality of the photo back and more clear

Literally the worst thing ever. I don’t know why this app is advertised as free, I’m order for it to work properly you HAVE to buy the premium service. I only wanted 5 pictures scanned to post to Instagram so I had to screenshot them some there is no way to save the images to my phone without a giant watermark in the middle of the photo (even though I already took the time to scan them “for free”) without paying for premium. Overall, app makes no sense and is horribly structured. I would give this app no stars if I could.

Picture. I have had a negative for 22 years. When I finally got around to wanting it developed technology had changed and couldn’t find a place to develop it. This app made it possible. I now have a beautiful picture of 5 generations I can share with family members.

Negative transfer. It’s nearly impossible to hold your iPhone steady while scanning negatives with this app. And, because of that the results are subpar. NOT GOOD. They may be good for a phone screen, small, but if you want to enlarge them (even with a double pinch), they are blurry and grainy. I have thousands of negatives and having them professionally transferred to digital format would be terribly, prohibitively expensive. In my opinion, you should invest in a film scanner. Which is what I plan to do. Or just use my scanner.

Love it!. I inherited a ton of black and white negatives for my family history project. Couldn’t find anyone who would print them as many were self developed from the 1930 and 1940”s. And others wanted hundreds of dollars! This app is so easy to use and love seeing the pictures! It does have some bugs occasionally and will crop the image weird, but it’s super easy to retake it!!!

Some flaws but works well. Not all negatives come out with the appropriate color balance and often the colorizing feature makes the photo very ugly. But overall it’s amazing it works at all. It is very important to hold the negative away from the backlight otherwise you get a grainy image.

FilmBox. I have purchased so many “easy” scanning devices that are NOT easy. FilmBox IS easy—so easy that I started using it immediately and have sent the images by email already. I’ve only had it for a few hours. I highly recommend it for scanning old negatives.

This is cool. I love this! My mom has A TON of old film negatives from older family members as well as our own use. The automatic cropping is really helpful, but it seems to need a pretty specific placement in order to work properly which can be time consuming and frustrating. I wish there was a way that I could put the pictures into different files and keep them organized!

Poor quality. I did the free scans to see how it would work. You have to hold the negative in front of a bright screen on your computer with one hand and take the picture with the other. With curled negatives this is not an easy task. You are supposed to hold the -2 inches away from your computer screen and wow you can say the word go to take the picture, you still have to use two hands and it is hard to do. The scan comes out grainy, this is a good app only to see what is on your negative, but definitely not printing quality. Don’t waste your money.

So Far, So Good!. I got this app just out of curiosity. My grandma had ALOT of negatives, and I knew she would love it if she could actually see them. I got this app thinking it was too good to be true. It was! After a few pictures, it said I had to buy it. $20 for 2 years of all the perks. I would definitely recommend this app!

User friendly and works as advertised!. My spouse has a bunch of negatives from his boot camp and deployment days. I scanned a bunch of photos and put it on his phone and he’s so happy, telling me all his stories and the guys he used to know. Really easy to use and a great way to save memories. Thank you!

Blown away!!. This is amazing! Able to see pics we had lost or forgotten about! As long as you use the backlight website and follow directions it’s simply amazing My mom even got her prom pictures. Definitely don’t understand the negative reviews. Sure you can go get pics printed off with negatives but it literally cost $100 bucks! Thank you so much for this app!

It is difficult to get images to your normal library. It is a circus act to get the images from here to my Photos library on my iPhone. You have to jump through allot of whoops. It is cool that that it instantly coverts negatives to positive images though, but it does not fully understand 4x5 negatives; it thinks they are regular images and complains (it still works, but it is weird).

Photographers you should read the license conditions. I was asked to resubmit my review as I was asked to review the policy… so I did. “ you grant Photomyne, a non-exclusive, worldwide, fully paid-up, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable license, with the right to use, copy, reproduce, publish, publicly perform, publicly display, digitally perform, modify, directly or through third parties, create derivative works of your Submitted Information and Materials Kk… I read the policy (again) And I stand by my gentle request for photographers to read the policy before using the app.. Read the section on giving them the rights to your photos before you scan something.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP!!! I wish I could give it negative stars. The app will only let you scan a few photos before you’re required to give you credit card information to be used after your three day free trial. While this is frustrating but somewhat understandable, when you try to send yourself the few photos you have taken, it again requires you to sign up. Effectively the app will not let you have your photos unless you give the company your information for photos YOU CREATED!!

Too difficult to use. To have to hold the negative with one hand and the hold the phone with your other hand while depressing the button for three seconds with the hand you are holding the phone with while trying to be still is almost impossible! I have deleted the app and do NOT want to be charged for it. I’ve deleted it before the three day trial was over. I forgot to mention that you have to hold the negative 2 inches away from the computer screen and sometimes the auto crop crops away half of the photo. This happened more often than not!

Could use a little more pre-editing. The colorize is nice. Sharpening works to an extent. Would be nice if could revert image back to pre-sharpening. And some simple cropping like smart phones can do, would be nice. Otherwise the image has to be downloaded to an editor (eg, smart phone). Then cropped and uploaded to the cloud. It’d be nice if this app could add editing tools - to help skip the need for smart phone editing.

Darkroom in my Pocket. Along with the digital picture editing tools on my phone, this is a fantastic tool. It can be used as suggested to scan for quality or, when used with a light table, can produce unexpected but magical effects. I can now take my negatives, old and new, and turn them into whatever I want. It’s fantastic!

Lack of settings. I am trying to scan negatives from 30s and 40s and they are about the size of a 5x7 actual picture. When I scan them the program cuts them short, no matter how I scan or I can’t get the whole picture to develop in the app. I appreciate the app for helping with saving crumbling negatives I just wish there were additional settings so I could get the whole picture when the negatives are larger.

Simply awesome!. This app is fantastic! You can fix how the pics are cropped very easily by hand if it misreads the crop. It takes like 5 seconds. I did 150 pics from negatives tonight in about an hour! It’s so easy and intuitive. The pictures are so clear! I adore this app!

Nagging on a 30 per year app. First this app does not work at all on older negatives. Those before the 35mm format with the holes. But this is not what earned a one start review. After asking for $30 for a year subscription.. there is an ADDITIONAL charge to remove nag messages. If you want to have a 5$ fine.. but then it should go towards the 30$ This felt petty and frustrating as I am already fighting the app to scan other types of negatives. There is no reason not to have a “turn off the auto cropping feature” and just give the best raw picture of what the camera is seeing. The fact that this feature is not available, when changing the icon on the screen is something you can do in settings is an indication that this developer feels no need to prioritize the needs of their users.
