fantastic. Absolutely fantastic metronome! The usability and feature set make this perfect for everyone, from beginner to advanced! I do wish I could play and pause the met directly from the number pad though, but that’s a minor inconvenience.

Overall nice but.... Can’t do 15/16 or any odd time signatures. Disappointed.

Fantastic FREE Metronome. I’ve been looking for a metronome that lets you set subdivisions and progressive speeds for free. I’ve finally found it here.

THE BEST APP EVER. This app puts dr. Beat to shame and for about $175 less(last I checked the local shop). If you take the time to learn this app the possibilities and applications are almost endless. You can program an actual rhythm and/or metric modulation with the pulse at the same time. Could not recommend this enough to any musician!!! Especially Invaluable for drummers or any instrument requiring linear independence. A+++ Definitely geekn’ out for this app.

Great App, painful bug. The ability to create various meter and/or accent patterns in the same measure without having to spend ten minutes making a loop is amazing. My only issue is that I’ve been getting a bug where, about one out of five times I hit play, nothing happens. If I shut down the app completely, it conveniently brings me back to the preset I was just using and the app works fine. I love all the unique things the app can accomplish, however it can be slightly infuriating when the play button does not work consistently on a $4 metronome app.

What an APP. I used to use Pulse and this is so much better. All of it is clear and allows higher speed. Amazing compliments to the creator of Impulse. INCREDIBLE

THE BEST!!. This metronome is better than a dream come true. The ability to change subdivisions for each beat sets this app light years apart from the rest. I play very syncopated rhythms on many instruments and have always wanted a more versatile metronome. I can usually get different rhythms but it’s the same for each beat. This app is magical. There is mention in the app that further features will be released. However, there hasn’t been an update in at least a year. 😩 🤞 Hoping for an update 🤞

Exiting. By far my favorite met app on the platform. I’m on an iPhone XR and for some reason when I pause the metronome to do something else, when I return back and press play the met won’t work. It happens every time I do this unless I leave it playing in the background. Would love to see this bug fixed!

Fantastic!. This app is simple and works perfectly. No cruft or ads or in-app purchases. I wish more apps were designed this way.

Needs note values. It needs a note value that you can turn on and a help screen

The best metronome I’ve used. This metronome is simply the best. Easy to use and allows you to save your rhythms and has automated tempo progression for speed practice. Simply the best. Looking forward to the future enhancement allowing custom sequences!

Love it. I have most of his apps and this one is definitely one of my favorites. To be able to select the sound effect this would be nice 😂. Other than that 13/10

Awesome potential. I will echo another review I’ve seen: it’s got so much potential and a lot of fun to work with. Only thing I wish it had is subdivisions that could be divided at equal speeds (for example a 2+2+3 8th note subdivision for a 7/8 meter). Other than that I’m excited to see how the app will progress!

Bug?. Not sure if this is a bug, but the faded open circle is always “silence” for me.

Very customizable.. It gives you the ability to program combinations of subdivisions and accents with 3 distinct basic metronome sounds.

Great Meteonome. Love the simple and straight forward implementation. Please, make it were you can create and name presets instead of overwriting the defaults. I am completely happy with everything else about this application. I get most users want to throw everything and the kitchen sink into one application but I really hope this app just builds on improving on what already exists instead of trying to attach the api for external applications etc. Keep it simple and clean like it should be and already is. Thank you

Absolutely the best. Best metronome available anywhere imo. User interface is amazing.

No sound. No sound. Sound never works, only like once in 10 tries. Super frustrating. Crap.

Very promising start after 2 weeks!. Nice clean UI and very flexible. The sound set is not to my taste, but sound prefs are promised. My main ask is a way to change the number of steps in a column without changing the timing of the steps — this will make it more intuitive to set up subdivisions like a 4/4 beat divided into 3-3-2.

Where is the manual???. This thing is so unintuitive! Where is the manual and instructions?

Versatile Met App!. Impulse is a great metronome and offers so many options. I love the ease of changing time signature and the fact that you can have a different subdivision on every beat. My only issue right now is that if you’re using the app, go to a different app, then come back to impulse it won’t respond anymore. You have to close out and re-open. I’m sure it’s a simple fix, and the app is amazing other than that!

Incredible. Each rhythm has its own feel. I was having trouble feeling different subdivisions and even more trouble trying to add rests. This app is a life saver! Create the rhythm and it plays it for you. A larger selection of sounds makes it much easier to sit and listen to. It’s also just a beautiful app, a true piece of art! Its a must have for any musician and opens up a world of possibilities for rhythm in improv!

Best. Metronome. Ever.. I just figured out how to change the sounds. The only suggestion I have is to have a countdown timer for getting time to get yourself ready. Playing the guitar (learning) is challenging enough without having to get into position fast..

Fantastic metronome/beat machine. I really love this app. It has a minimal and easy UX that allows you to get straight to the good stuff quickly. The ability to change the sounds for up to four different pips, not only makes it more sonically pleasing than most metronomes, it also means it doubles as a great beat machine than can easily program far more complex rhythms than many iOS beat machines available. One bug I’ve noticed - the fourth pip (dark gray), which starts out default as silent, only changes sound when you scroll to another sound setting, then exit/re-enter the app. I also just discovered that whatever changes you make with a preset selected, overwrite the preset! This is definitely NOT desirable behavior and I just lost several programmed patterns due to this (not a bug per se but still annoying). Please change this so you only write to a preset when selecting to save and give it a name, to avoid accidental destructive edits. Feature requests for the developer: please add Ableton Link/midi clock sync capability, and consider compatibility with AudioBus, AudioShare, and other iOS pro audio apps! In addition, the ability to upload user sounds as sources. Would make this already quite potent tool, absolutely formidable. Four stars for now due to the bug, preset handling, and lack of inter-app integration, but I hope to come back and make it five stars in the future. Overall I’m highly impressed with Impulse!!

Awesome potential!. This is easily one of the best free metronomes on the App Store. Its minimalist aesthetic is also very pleasing. I would like to see an addition of hotkeys to make simply switching time signatures easier for those who don’t have as complex understandings of rhythms. However the customization allowed by the interface makes this app very appealing over other metronome apps; most that allow for similar customization are behind paywalls. Overall, I’m very pleased with this app and optimistic for its future!

Metric Innovation. I was a drummer for over 25 years and wish I had something like this growing up! My Son is now into drums and he really likes Impulse too! It’s great that you can dial in an infinite number of combinations. Keep up the good work! Maybe a save function and or Share?

Been waiting for this.... Been looking for a new metronome. This is the best one I’ve seen to date. Subdivisions are a snap. Even polyrhythmic beats can be easily set up. Compared to the long list of metronomes available this sits at top of the heap. I’m giving it 5+ stars.

Brilliant. A must for teachers to recommend for students of any instrument and a great tool for pros as well. The flexibility and ease of use is what many of us have been looking for. I would pay a few dollars if it was a paid app. That it is free makes it even sweeter.

Great but needs some tweaks. I love how much control this app gives me over what sub divisions the click happens and it's very intuitive to use. The main thing I would love to see is the ability to keep playing while other apps such as youtube and netflix are running as I really enjoy practicing to a click while I'm watching a show or what not. Also the classic sounds are very annoying in my opinion but I was VERY happy to see that there are many different sound options, which could have been a deal breaker if it was tha other case! Good job!

Simple. Versatile. Beautiful.. This is the most unique and beautiful, simple yet versatile metronomes I have ever used. Incredibly helpful for working on rhythms. Excellent app!

Elegant flexibility. Impulse elegantly helps me practice my rhythmic trouble spots, like smoothly switching between quarter notes and triplets and back, in ways other metronomes can’t! The only minor user interface things I would improve would be to (a) make the sound selection spinners larger so my fingers could easily select a different click, and (b) allow the app to run in landscape orientation. Other than that, this is a brilliant little app! Well done!

Free, flexible, friendly. This app is truly free (FREE!) - no trial period, no in-app purchases. It is a straight-forward metronome but so much more! It is also a rhythm machine. It allows you to add subdivisions, change sounds, have the screen flash, so much flexibility! It is very user-friendly - most of the changes are done by just taping the beats you want altered on the screen. I am not a techie but this is easy to use. I teach ukulele and want all my students to download and use this app!
