Missing obvious features for single photo layouts. It boggles my mind and was very frustrating to learn that there are editing features like rounded borders and the overlay coat designs, as well as design frames. That ONLY show up when doing a collage, but NOT when printing a single photo. This boggles my mind and fees it a fairly significant oversight from the developer. Why would you not have the same capabilities when printing a single photo as you when printing a collage? This is just bad ux. Fix it, please. Add ability to adjust borders like we can on collages, but for single photo prints (overlay designs, etc). Furthermore, the inability to save drafts, or to edit a previously printed photo as a starting point is lacking. The only way to save an edit if not printing immediately is to attempt to print, timeout, and it will show up in reprints area (yet uneditable from there). There is also a bug where if you go back too far when editing, your crop is not saved. It blows my mind how this app is rated so highly. Sever limitations on overlay options, no ability to add our own svg overlay option (like you ca with stamps), and no saved frames for things like parties. Just crazy how an app in development for so many years on one of the worlds best photo printers is not further developed.

Recent update took away everything. I use this printer every few months to print seasonal pictures as holiday and birthday gifts. The previous version of the app was very good looking, user friendly and the photo editor had tons of options. The new update is very bland and very minimalistic. My biggest issue is i feel like I’ve been scammed because the photo ink rolls use 4 sheets per photo printed, and one of the sheets is for cool holographic effects that you used to be able to print over your photo as a final layer which was very cool. That option no longer exists in the editor, and i am all stocked up on ink rolls and photo paper. What a waste. Knowing now that Canon pulls a classic bait and switch, i will avoid their products in the future.

New Update Removes Features. The UI update in the 4.0 version is nicer, but now you can't set an overcoat when printing a single photo. Big downgrade for me as people loved the overcoat feature. Oddly you can still use it on Shuffle. However, Shuffle also lost some functionality by not giving you the option to endlessly remix the layout (now you are just given a few initial variations to choose from and that's it). It's not the end of the world but I would like to see some of the basic features of the printer come back. Thanks!

Hard to Connect. I love the app but it is so hard to connect to the phone sometimes. At times it takes 20 mins to connect and it’s never the same issue each time. If you come up with a no brains way to connect to iPhones it would be the BEST app out there. I give a 5 star rating for the ease once connected. Fix the problem and it gets 10 stars!!!

No longer works. I get it, developers sometimes screw up an update. However, it should not take weeks to rectify. I actually use this printer for work, but it no longer works at all since the last update a couple of weeks ago. I’ve tried everything, reinstalling, iOS updates, restarts etc. the reality is that they broke the app and they either don’t realize, or they don’t care to get a fix out very quickly. Take this into account when you make your purchase decision…

Works great! Fun to print.. I have enjoyed using my SELPHY printer. I love the ability to just make my digital photos become a physical item to hold and cherish. One thing I would like to see in the app is the SUBTLE DATE print option. It is available on the printer itself with an sd card or usb device but not in the app. I hate using the orange font date format. The subtle is so much better. Would be 5 stars if they fix that add that one feature.

Dislike the new update. I don’t like the new update. Haven’t used this app in a bit, so I don’t know what it updated. However, it’s not nearly as good as it once was. It takes longer to print photos because I can’t pick the layout I want for my photos to automatically arrange into. I want to be able to print two photos on a page like I used to and did them all at once, but now I have to print 2 photos at a time. It’s super frustrating and I don’t even want to print photos anymore because I can’t be bothered to print all the photos I have to print in that way. It genuinely makes me want to buy a whole new set up because it’s so inconvenient.

So many features lacking. It’s amazing how many features other Canon apps have that this is lacking. I LOVE the app for the Canon cameras - it’s the 2nd biggest reason I’ve stayed with Canon, just after the color. But the printer app is awful. You can’t send to it from other apps, including photos. You can’t scrub through photos without closing. You can’t zoom in to see a slightly closer image without zooming in to 1. The options for photo editing are pathetic- and split between two different areas, for some reason. I’ll keep using it, because I LOVE being able to print a photo 30 seconds after taking it, but this app needs some love.

Disappointed with the New Version – Lost Key Features. I’ve been using the SELPHY app for years with my Canon 1300 printer, and it used to be an absolute dream for my scrapbook projects. The N-up layout feature allowed me to print 4 photos per page automatically—quickly and effortlessly. It was perfect for creating albums and collages without wasting time. Unfortunately, the recent update has removed this essential functionality. Now, instead of selecting multiple photos and having them arranged automatically, I have to do it one at a time. Who has time for that? It’s incredibly frustrating and a major step backward for anyone who relies on this feature for creative projects like scrapbooking. I’ve tried every option in the updated app, but nothing replicates the simplicity and ease of the old N-up feature. Canon, please bring back the automatic multi-photo layout functionality. Until then, I’m left scrambling to find a workaround or considering alternative apps and printers. This app was once perfect—please fix it.

Simple & High Quality. I’ve owned my SELPHY printer for a couple years, I have never had an issue getting it to connect to Internet, or print dozens of photos at a time. The ink lasts longer than you’d expect (usually 25 full color photos in my experience) and the overall experience has been great.

Current feature support please. There are features the printer is capable of that are absent on the app, which is unfortunately the quickest and most convenient way to print on this thing and therefore the most preferable way. The subtle date option is not available on the app, yet it is on the printer. I see this has been a complaint in reviews for over a year, so Canon does not seem to be supporting its software on current products, which is very disappointing. It would be a different story if this were an old model. UPDATE YOUR APP, CANON!! CHEAPSKATES!!

Not dependable. My SELPHY is not dependable. At times it works beautifully. Other times it won’t connect to the network no matter what I do. Today it’s decided not to recognize the no and paper I’ve always used saying it’s the incorrect ink and paper. I rarely use it without some type of frustration. It is not user friendly. I cannot easily find the photos I wish to print. (I have over 60,000) and just finding it takes a long time. But it is portable and can be used to print when I’m away from home - if it decides to print that day.

Going Backwards on Some Stuff. Please bring back a feature. I print 2 pictures a lot. one on one half and the other half. Now it's part of "collage" and I used to be able to choose multiple pictures and it would automatically sort them into 2 pics per printout now I have to go back and forth. Choose 2 pics, then print, then go back and choose 2 more and print, then go back, so on a so forth. Back then I would choose 10 pictures automatically and they would sort into 5 printouts, 2 pictures each print out. It would save me time and a nuisance of having to keep going back and forth.

Upgrade was a downgrade. I loved my printer and the app until we had to install this update. Now if you want to print collage prints you can only select the exact number, let the print job finish, then start a new one. It really ties up your time. Before I could select 10, 20 (x number) select the 2-up layout and it would print them all, 2 to page. One selection, one print job. Now if I want 20 prints, I pick 2 photos, print them and wait until that job is finished and then pick 2 more. Very frustrating!

App is unusable. I just spent $165 on a new Selphy1500 and paper, but the App seems to be completely frozen on the home screen. Have tried restarting my phone, exiting the app, deleting and reinstalling. Nothing. I do not want to print via an SD disk so I'll return the printer to Canon if the app is still non-functional in a week. It's pretty crazy to look at the past month or so of reviews and see the sheer volume of reviews criticizing the recent update, and see that Canon has not rolled back what is obviously a buggy and terrible update. You're losing business and degrading your reputation, Canon!

Please fix the bugs in the updated version. Some of my photos wont print it tells me an error has occurred after I have waited 2 minutes and I cant print my pictures in the borderless setting because it decreases the size of the picture; have to use the landscape feature to get a full print.

Has slowed down and quits. I love this printer. You can do so much with it. It is frustrating that it has slowed down so much and it just up and quits on you. I wish there was an easier way to retrieve pictures from years past or go into folders. I think when I first got this printer you could and now that doesn’t show up with the new version. I just downloaded the latest version. I hope these issues are resolved (slowing down and quitting). The printer is a five, the app is a three.

Lost options. I used to love this software, now I’m confused. I was able to print 3 copies of the same photo in different sizes on a single sheet before. Now, if that option is even available, I can’t find it! I use it all the time to make cards and books of different sizes. Please help.

Unusable since last update. You have a major flaw in the app. If user has thousands of images, it just gets stuck until it manage to load the photos somehow but with 70k pictures and older phone it never loads. A workaround is to use only specific pictures via ios access but then your stupid app design asks for confirmation several times each time. This is unbelievably bad update and makes things worse not better at all. Please bring back the old version or I want my money back and return the printer.

Version 4 broken! PLEASE FIX!! Freezes for many minutes on opening large photo library!. The previous major revision of this app worked fine. This morning the new 4.0 was pushed, and the app is now completely unusable - it freezes for many minutes when clicking any of the main page buttons to start creating a design. I left my phone and eventually it did open. But unusably slow. My iCloud has over 100,000 photos in it. This was not an issue on the previous version. I am guessing this is the issue now. CANON PLEASE FIX!

No way to edit formats. There is no way to change which pictures you want where in the photo layout For example, if you want one specific one to be big and the others to be small, there is no way for you to arrange it... The app decides for you, and that is extremely frustrating and useless. The app also decides how your pictures are cropped and rotated. I just bought my SELPHY, particularly looking forward to being able to print photos on different sizes, stickers, etc. However, I am extremely disappointed in this app and will now not be buying the creative kit with the sticker options.

Nice updated, but slow now. Worked really smoothly for me before, but now with the updates it takes longer to pull up my photos. I do have A LOT of pictures, so its understandable, but it didn’t use to take a while and now it does. Like 1-2 minutes to pull them up from Recents, and another 2 minutes if I want to sort by folders instead of just the default Recent photos. As far as the updates go, I really like the new features! Love the option to change the border size and being able to crop or move the image directly from the preview page is nice!

Gets the job done, but app needs UX improvements. Wishlist includes: (1) easier rotate/crop UX especially including an option to align the photo rotate and size to a grid system (rotating and sizing manually is currently a pain), (2) ability to print more than 1 copy at a time (as in, you can’t tell it to print 5 copies for friends, you have to manually repeat the print sequence for each photo)

The latest app update missing key features. It beats me who approves the app updates that are incomplete by nature. The latest app misses key features- you can no longer print 10pictures with 2photo layout (5 prints in all) instead it prints 1 8-pic collage. It’s almost like the app designers/product owners never use the printer themselves and just wanted to create something fancier. You also need to select border settings for each print command. It’s so hard to print multiple photos in collage- the new app rates so low in usability - strangely the app discourages use of printer at scale. Give me the old app please or let me select the collage setting instead of forcing all my prints to be 8picture collage!

Love the Printer, but need more troubleshooting instructions. I hadn’t used my printer for awhile and couldn’t get it to connect to Wii. After watching some videos, was able to set Wi-Fi up. Then it said I was out of paper and a new ink cartridge was needed. I ordered new paper and ink cartridge. Then it would not accept the cartridge. I tried looking on the Internet and couldn’t find any help. Then I saw. The box said postcard so figured out to change from letter. No where could I find this solution in Canon’s troubleshooting or anyplace else.

Love this device. I bought the canon selphy several years ago after my aging mother stopped smiling when taking photos and complained she never got to see the photos. I still remember the way her eyes lit up when I created a good old fashioned photo album she could look at! This is a great way to create lifetime memories.

Not chancing it. This is not an app I use often, but when I do, sometimes I have difficulty getting it to connect to the printer. After a few tries I am usually successful. One thing I have learned however is that when a developer changes the design of the app icon, read the reviews before taking an update. Based on what I’m seeing here, I won’t be updating for now. The last thing I need is more trouble trying to connect to the printer. On another note, Dear App Developer, When your product is known by a specific name, that name NEEDS to appear on the app icon. Do NOT use your internal acronyms that make no sense to your users. It may be SPL to you all day long, but to me I can’t tell if this is an app I use for work with the same acronym or if I downloaded something I didn’t realize. I’m certainly not going to associate SPL with my little Canon printer. I’m looking for the app that says SELPHY. Why? Because that’s the name of your product associated with the app!

Collage Application Needs To be Fixed. In the past when I had a group of pictures to print, I had the option to select 2 pictures per 4x6 print and I could select the group of pictures and hit print. New software took away feature to select number of pictures per 4x6 print and now I can only print one picture at a time. If I try to select more than two pictures, the 4x6 print turns into an 8 photo collage layout (like a passport picture). This is a major problem for those that print in bulk. Please bring the feature back quickly. The most latest update where you enter size of picture per photo doesn’t allow multiple pics on one 4 x 6. I think you made it worse. Please fix immediately.

Amazing app with so many functions. The people not giving good reviews to this app haven’t learned the tricks. I have been teaching my friends how to use this app and have been troubleshooting their connectivity issues and we have figured out a way to make it work. We are having a blast using all of the different functions this app offers.

Good app but pls read!. This is a good app and it is fun to watch the photos print. A lot of people art getting it confused with a photo editor and leaving bad reviews bc you cannot edit your photos. Secondly it does have a hard time connecting sometimes but I noticed when I sit by a charger with my iPad and printer it loads faster.

Love this Product. Absolutely love the SELPHY Printer, my father had one and that made me want one. I use it to make Photo books to give as gifts because we take so many pictures on our phones and forget them. Wish the paper and ink were a little less expensive.

Lacking key features. Why not provide an option to automatically fill the page with the same image. If I choose 4x4 layout for example, I need to manually fill each of the 4 frames with an image. That might be good if I want different images on a page but there should be a fill option in case I want a fill page if the same image. Also, why not show the size of the frame in the layout description? That would make layout selection more meaningful and simple. Also , why must I register the product before I can print. Frustrating.

What happened to the text, stickers, and clear coat finishes?. I used to love decorating my photo prints with the built in stickers, text editor, and coating effects, but they seem to have removed the features in the latest update. I really miss how fun my past photos were compared to just burning the date into the bottom now. I hope the old features can be reintroduced soon. It still is a fluid app and is easy to use so it gets 4 stars.

Issues with Apple Photos. So this app is decent, and prints photos, but it really needs to get with the times. The interface is extremely clunky and dated. Often when I edit a photo and save it to my phone, this app has trouble loading it. It’s like the app is behind what it shows me in my camera roll or albums in Apple photos. I wish they would just use apple’s API for just opening the photo library for you to pick your photos to print. Do better Canon. Feel free to reach out to me individually if you want more detailed help.

Don’t really like the new update. You can no longer edit single photos with text, stickers, etc. I played around with the app and found out all of that is still available for the collage. If you’d like to make a collage all of those features are still there. But really disappointed that you can’t do any of that for the normal one picture.

Afterschool program supervisor. This portable printer has made a huge difference in making customized projects with our students. The fact that we can print pictures as needed when needed has made my staff be more creative and most importantly, our parents love it.

Pretty bad - connection wise. Trying for hours after getting my SELPHY printer, only ONCE was I able to actually connect to the printer and print a photo using this app. I eventually gave up and called it a night. The next day, I took a different approach. Using the app, I made my edits to the photos I wanted to print, and saved them to a separate folder. I then used software called CopyTrans to connect my iPhone to a PC and copied the photos onto the PC to an SD card. I then put the SD card into the SELPHY and was able to print the photos from the printer itself. While it involves a few extra steps, this method works every time for me. This app isn’t too bad for editing the photos - it’s pretty decent actually. Its high points are overshadowed by its poor ability to print directly from the app to the printer. Canon should really do better than selling a printer with sub-standard software support.

Works Well, Needs Features. It lacks a lot when it comes to photo layouts. Rotating and moving an image to where you want it is finicky. If you mess up there is NO “undo” button. If you layer things, like text on a photo, and the text is highlighted as selected ready to edit so you go to move the text, half the time it changes to the image and moves the image instead - and again, no “undo” to easily backup. This ap would be 75% better by simply adding an undo button. As the other lack of workability could at least be quickly sorted. Add the ability to resize *without* rotating would be another 20% better. To resize or rotate an image, you use 2 fingers. So it’s almost impossible to resize or adjust location without accidentally introducing unwanted rotation. More fonts and a “instant photo”(p0lar0id) style layout option for 4x6 would be excellent as well

Worthless. I was able to use this app once just before the last update. I was so excited to print quality photos for my planner, family, and friends. Since the update pushed, the app does nothing. It's completely frozen. I saw this mentioned by another user on Canon's support page, so I assumed this would be addressed. No such luck. I've found a way to print one photo at a time through another printer app, but there are now collages or layouts, which is why I purchased this printer in the first place. What a waste of money!

Bring back the old app. I didn’t use this in awhile so when I tried to, I was forced to use this updated version and it is not nearly as easily usable as before. It takes so long to bring pics up - if it ever even does. Yes, I have a lot a LOT of photos, but this was never an issue before. I also have to just choose 8 pics at a time. Frustrating and I don’t want to print pics anymore.

Great Printer good value. My daughter recently graduated with a doctorate in OT so I have enjoyed using this printer to print many of the great photos. However, I gave only four stars becauseI soon realized after adding more photos to my photo library on my iPhone X that the selfie app was not adding these and so I deleted the app and will reload it in hope that it will now have the new photos included. But surely this is something that should be fixed unless there’s a way but I couldn’t see it.

Selphy print driver. This works exactly as I expected it to. Other reviewers have complained that you can’t edit photos with it as they seem to be under the false assumption that this app is a photo editing tool. It is basically a printer driver and allows you to send photos from your phone/tablet wirelessly to your Selphy printer, much in the same way you would send a Word document to an office printer. It does allow you to print multiple images to a page in various layouts, but if you want to crop or do color correction that you must do in a photo editor.

Size importing/fit option is off. When using the ‘fit’ option in the last update brought everything to the edges perfectly if your file was the 4x6 size. Now it will be off by 4/32 of an inch. Which has thoroughly thrown off my workflow. I have to add a black bar on the bottom of my print that is 4 inches in length to match it to the bottom of the screen with touch controls(which is never good) so my prints now vary slightly in size. I absolutely love the printer and have been singing it’s praises to all artist and photographers for the past few months. But with this update I will have to warn them about specific sizes unless something can change.

Add more frames and stamps. I recently bought the canon SELPHY Qx10 photo printer. I was so excited but then I downloaded the app and saw that there was a limited amount of frames and stamps to choose from and then felt disappointed. If you can add more frames and stamps that would be wonderful. I would be happy to pay a small amount of money for more stamps and frames.

Just awesome!. For those that have been putting off making albums for the family, this printer and app are so convenient! Might be cheaper printing somewhere else, but you end up waiting till you have saved up a bunch of images, and then you forget and you don’t have an album. This, once you have an image, print it and stuff it in the album. Done.

Works as advertised, but I got lucky.. Using this with the Selphy CP1300 printer, I am honestly very happy with how this app works - I can make my edits and changes through this app if I wanted to and print stuff out right away. However, the only reason I have such a glowing review of this app is because the SELPHY app does not support my printer for direct connection via this app. Instead, it forwards the printing commands to the far superior PRINT app, which has a solid connection to my printer, but no editing capabilities. Though I have no clue why these two apps are separate, they work together like a charm!

Why did they “update” the app?. I’ve been using the SELPHY app for months and had been very satisfied with its performance. I went to use it the other day and found the whole app has been overhauled and is completely different. Many of the features I used all the time are not available now. Size options are tricky to get what you want. I am unable to print batches of photos like I was before. Please bring back the old format.

Very easy and fun way to print pictures! quality is better than I expected. Also it’s fast.. This is a game changer. I can now print pictures on my kitchen counter and don’t have to go to Walgreen’s for every school project or anything. My kids need. It’s been so wonderful and great.

The Ultimate Joy. Printed pictures is a lost medium. I’m in my mid 30s, grew up through several iterations of social media and the rise in digital media sharing. I gave up all social media in 2020 (post pandemic) and have never looked back. There is magic and pure joy in printing your memories into something tangible that you can touch and have a much more meaningful appreciation. Print your pictures, frame them, buy a Selphy printer; you will not regret it.

Completely unusable. This used to be my favorite portable printer but now it’s completely unusable after the latest app update. It freezes after loading the homepage and no matter how many times I restart, I can’t never get it do… anything. Massive fail.

Selfie photo printer. It is great and the quality of the photos is excellent.

September 2024 update is broken. The latest update (September 2024) has broken the app, it freezes, doesn’t allow me to even press the ‘photo’ option. I’ve re-installed, re-registered my printer, forgotten the network, re-installed it again, and now I can’t use it at all!!! This is incredibly frustrating. I use this for my job and I can’t use it to give my clients their prints, please revert, this is insane.

Add N-up cuttable option. I like the app, however I want to be able to print out a photo in an N-up layout and then cut them out. Unfortunately the default layout means you end up with lopsided borders since all the internal borders are cut in half. Please add a "double internal border" or "cut mode" that makes the internal white border double the width of the border on the outside perimeter of the image. Adding dots like the dot grid that shows the middle of those internal borders would be amazing as well for easy cutting. Unfortunately until this feature is enabled i can't really use this app.

That is great but need. The app works great. But for iPad it needs horizontal display support. Please bring support for iPad.

Old version was better. Takes ages to open the camera roll. I thought the app had hung. Printer is great. Adhesive backed mini prints at photo quality. Brilliant. Old app was not slow and did the job with no issues that I ever saw in a year of using it. Would be better if the printer was just available in Photos app but alas.

Love this app. I recently bought a Canon Celphy CP1500 (excellent printer btw) and this app has been the easiest app i’ve ever had to navigate which is a huge relief as a photographer as i’m able to quickly edit up my car photos and print them on the go to give to the car owners, the smile on their face makes this me love this app above all.

Decent app but could be better. The app seems a little buggy, it does not have a horizontal viewing mode on iPad, when a photo is full screen and you choose it, it instead chooses the first photo in the album. Also in terms of colour, I find printing from the app delivers poorer renditions than from an SD card or from a desktop computer with a proper colour profile - why is it not the same quality? Overall it is easy to use and the pictures come out pretty good and I would recommend the SELPHY printers!

Terrible updated version. Absolutely adored the old version of this app - I could print up to 60 photos at a time in the N-up layout and now with the new version I can only choose 8 at a time. This means it takes twice as long for me to print out my photos. The new app also cannot handle how many photos I have on my phone, I have to manually choose one folder at a time to choose pictures to print. PLEASE give us the option to return to the old app, I really dislike the new one!

Awful app update. Similar to others reviews - most recent “update” has completely downgraded the app. In addition to removing pretty much all the customisation tools, it is also very clunky, lagging, and struggles to even connect to my SELPHY printer. Very disappointing as I used to really enjoy printing photos. Now just very frustrating. Please fix!

Game Changer. This is my second SELPHY printer as my original only printed from the old school camera SD Card then I upgraded to print straight from my phone. I use my SELPHY printer for anything from school projects for my kids (&now my grandkids!) … To last minute gifts as I buy spare photo frames in advance… To print photos at parties … To print labels to quickly identify contents in my party storage / costume boxes ( I have 30! ) I cannot recommend this product enough &to be honest I haven’t printed a photo at Kmart or Officeworks since I upgraded to this SELPHY CP 1500. Best $200 I’ve probably ever spent & I just make sure I’ve always got a spare ink + paper pack as it’s something you can only purchase in business hours &I tend to be more productive at night . My grandkids are already getting as much use out of this product as I did when their mother was still living at home over a decade ago . It’s Brilliant !

Slow loading photo library on iPhone 13. Very slow speed. Cannot even roll down and browse photos. Pls fix the problem asap.

Thrilled to bits!. I got my Selphy printer for Christmas and I love it! I am thrilled at how easy it is to use and how quick! The images are not museum quality, but I don’t care. I can finally print my pictures again.

Bring back the FIT button please. While I love that you can now easily resize/ trim the photos can you please please please bring back the fit button that just made the image the size it needed to be for the paper. Still keep the Trim option but a quick snap to would be great for those of us that don’t want to fiddle around to much with it all.. Thank you!

Canon Selphy the best!. So nice to look at actual photos rather than on a screen. Thermal printing is just TOP for quality

App crashes constantly. If I didn’t have to use this app to print my pictures on my Selphy printer, I wouldn’t use it. It takes ages to load the photos from camera roll, it constantly crashes even when it does, it keeps going back to the most recent photo despite changing dates. Need an update ASAP to fix these issues.

DEVELOPERS COULD EASILY INCREASE PRODUCT RATINGS. All I’m saying is that the printer and the hardware is great, it only takes a few more functions like allowing the colour picking to be any of the multimillion different colours, allowing more custom layouts, a much greater range/custom transparent imprinted effects (for the cp1500 and similar models) and a more text customisations (like font, bold, background border customisation). All it is is a bit more software side. Otherwise everything else is great.

Best Portable Photo Printer!. The print quality is absolutely amazing and vibrant. It is so convenient and easy to use. Honestly, printing at home with this is so much easier and faster than going to Officeworks to get photos printed. Highly recommended!

Layout adjustment. Images are unable to be adjusted once in a layout so if the layout crops the photo half we through someone’s head etc. you can’t adjust it to have the part of the image you’d like displayed.

The best. It works just fine, and there were no problems for me it was easy to print and very very fun. This is why I write this app five stars.

Update 4.1.0 broke the app. This app has been a buggy slow mess for the last 2 years and now will not print in ‘shuffle’ layout at all. For the price of these printers the app really ruins the experience

Bring back ‘fit whole photo in’ feature. You previously were able to have the option to fit your photos into the layout instead of cropping the image; not in this version; eg 2 square prints in N-Up, please add this feature back

Terrible and unusable since the update. They updated the app and now it is completely useless. It’s taken away the layout options it used to have and the few it has left are terrible. All I want to do it print two photos side by side but it is no longer possible to do that. I used to use it everyday at work but will have to find a different brand of printer if the app is not fixed.

Why the needless update??. The app was great. If it aint broke dont fix it. Please return it to the old system! The new selection/layout process means you cant print out large amounts of photos in the same layout which triples the time spent trying to print images. Additionally, the borders being a slider scale is silly and should have a drop down instead so we know the dimensions of the borders we choose.

Square photos. Please can you add to N-up layout a 6-up so we can print 2x2 inch photos.

Good but needs more work and more options. Would be great if photos can be drag around and resize and adjusted as well as being able to add some notes (letters, fonts, colours and or drawing too). How about passport photos sizes and cropping? Maybe even invitations options too as well as cards. While a calendar input will also be a great option as well. This will suit an all around app for printing that anyone can keep and give away.

Features missing from old version. I miss the old version of the app with the old Bookmark function. The old bookmark function added a line and adjusted the spacing equal for a“Photobooth look.”. The new layout for this isn’t the same, the borders are too thin

No longer connects to Wi-Fi. App used to be great. Super easy to set up and start printing. Since the update, I had issues getting the device to connect to Wi-Fi to print. Deleted app and redownloaded as suggested on Canon’s website and now I can’t get the device to register with the app at all. Very little information online to assist with troubleshooting. Now my printer is useless.

Solid App, Simple, Good print quality. This is a solid app paired with my CP1500. The print quality for this little cheap printer combined with this app is outstanding. The only thing I find annoying with the artist that I have a lot of photos in my photo library and it doesn’t remember where I’ve last been going through that library to print photos, which means I sometimes have to start from the scroll through thousands of photos just to get back to where I was before I would appreciate it if the app could be enhanced Better cashing

Crashes since the update. According to other reviews I’m not the only one experiencing issues with the update that came out last month.

SELPHY CP1500. I am so pleased with the ease and quality of this printer. It’s so easy to print off a couple of photos at a time and complete my scrapbook pages

Needs to add a few things. Hello! I’ve had an amazing experience with the printer and I definitely recommend this, but I would like to have fonts for the date and also if it’s possible to get the date or text on the bit of white space. Thank you! - Happy costumer :)

Selphy photo layout for qx20. Works great! Easy to get around

Terrible since latest update. Not liking the update at all!! Used to be able to select multiple photos in N-up, which was easy and very user friendly for continuous printing. Now you can only select photos for 1 N-up at a time. App is freezing and crashes whilst trying to select photos. Selecting photos takes a lot longer than previously. If it ain’t broke don’t change it. ☹️

Latest update is slow and clunky. I had found this app very nice and easy to use and it’s recently been updated and is slow and hard to use.

Connecting is a pain for me…. Initially, fantastic. No problems printing and connecting, fantastic. BUT! After about the third or fourth use connecting directly from the phone to the printer became very problematic, and continues to be so.

Dreadful Updated version. Recently got a new iphone and the app auto updated. I used to be able to select multiple 2/4/8 up prints . The nup layout was fantastic. Now I can only print 1 photo sheet at a time. The setting is fixed at 0/8 and you can scroll to get a 2 up layout but you can't choose 8 photos and print four 2 up prints. Makes it slow and frustrating. Really disappointed

Good app for a fun printer. The app offers good customization options. You can either print out single images or create fun collages etc. connects with the printer reliably.

N-Up mode gone. It used to be super convenient to print two- eight pictures in one photo but now the only modes will allow you to only print one at the same time. So stupid, being back N-Up mode this is so bad now

App stopped working. After update the app stopped working PLEASE fix it!!

Limited. There is no way to scale/adjust your logos for print layout. Very limited.

Not the same…. The old app allowed different layouts and sizes to print. Now, it wants to print in a predetermined way, eight photos or two larger size ones. Bring back the old app. This is terrible.

Selphy co1500. Terrible! This used to be SO EASY to use! Now, you can only print 3x4’s one sheet at a time, cropping the images skews the image and it’s almost impossible to straighten it, cannot connect to my home wifi so now it’s impossible to print from google photos. BRUTAL! This was the best little printer and now it’s not even good enough to be a brick! It wasn’t broken! Why did you absolutely RUIN this!???

Unusable. Refuses to connect to CP1500 even though it says it’s connected and joining the wifi as expected. Just ended up printing directly from iOS instead.

Terrible controls. If you change the printer to your own wifi there is no way in the app to change it and the only way it will show the setup QR code is if you use the in printer wifi. Ridiculous set of constraints.

Poorly designed app. To build an app that doesn’t seamlessly integrate to a home WiFi network is short sighted. The direct connection is faulty and sometimes takes up to 3 attempts to print a single picture. C’mon Canon you can do better than this.

Error message. I put in the ink and the paper that came with the selfie, and when I try and print, it says paper and ink cassette sizes are incorrect. Zero guidance on how to override this error

Canon Shelby C-1500 Compact Printer. This is the best printer ever for 4x6 prints and you will love it also. It is my best friend. I would recommend it to everyone. It has the easiest App to choose your pictures with big or small size options in your camera app. Enjoy and have fun.

Bad upgrade. Can’t preview the photo like before…. Very difficult to use!! Please roll back to the old version!

Freezing. They really need to fix this. It keeps freezing since it was updated a few months ago. You can read all the reviews stating the same thing. It’s hard to recommend a photometer when the app that’s suppose to print your photos doesn’t work.

Glitchy af. The print quality is amazing but the app glitches and crashes non-stop. Super frustrating - a 10 min project becomes an hour when you keep having to try over and over again.

DO NOT UPDATE YOUR APP. the new update is terrible. the preview of the photo in the editor does not match what prints, it cuts off the top and bottom. the photos rotate when trying to crop and they got rid of the snap feature so good luck trying to crop pictures now

Number sliding scale. I would love a numbered sliding scale when working with the colour filter. —or have some indication for each value. It would make it much easier to apply the same lighting properties across photos, helping everything look more uniform in my journal. Overall, easy to use and beginner friendly instructions!

Please revert to old app. New update with redesigned app doesn’t allow to print 2 or 4 at a time. Collage option does not work properly. Used to work great with n up feature.

Review. This app is well organized I know where to find everything and it’s easy to manage. I do wish there was an option where we could organize and select where and how we want the photos organized so that we can save on printer paper and get the exact size we want, but overall a good app.

Stopped connecting to printer. Update: installed the app update on 8/26 and nothing has changed. My QX10 is still an expensive paperweight. It would sure be great if Canon would make this work on current IOS hardware. Before I upgraded to a 12 pro, this worked great and everything was good in the world. But it fails to connect to the printer now, telling me I need to enable local network access, which is already enabled. And to get that far I had to disable cellular access. (Why, I don’t know but it wouldn’t recognize the QR setup code otherwise…) This is very strange. Please fix this and release an update soon. Not being able to print makes the printer a rather expensive paperweight.

Can’t print same photo. In the N-up layout. This is the only thing we use this printer for.

Canon Conundrum. I own a Canon Selphy & a Canon Pixma TS9521C. The interface for these with either IOS, Windows or Android is clumsy at best. It never seems to find the images through AirPrint like most other printers I’ve owned can. I would love the edit and preview features to work on the Selphy app so I don’t waste pictures that are improperly cropped. I love the speed and print quality of the Canon Selphy but the user interface has a looong way to go! I’m removing the app to reinstall a second time!
