Frustrated. I can’t get it to work on my iPad Air ....followed all the instructions with no results...screen comes up on the iPad but it won’t prompt me for the password I see on the F8n screen it just sits there with some random numbers....after paying 900 dollars I expect the app would work...I also viewed utube for instructions over and over again ..what little hair I had left on my head is gone...also dleated the app and reinstalled it several times with the same results....FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE FIX

Love-hate. Well, it works on my 12" iPad Pro... but it needs more functionality. For example, how about the same metering options (peak and vu) that you offer on the f8. How about a track mute button? How about a track solo button? (I know, the PFL is a sort of solo button, but not the same as track level solo buttons the allow you to easily select which tracks to listen to.) How about customizable track names on the sliders? How about allowing the mic on the phone/iPad to act as a switchable room mic? Etc etc etc. I also hit a bug that shows up randomly where if I have set the trim on the iPad for (let's say) track 8, then switch screens (for example clicking the menu button) I will hear a click in track 8 and the trim on the iPad track 8 will reset to the trim level set on the physical knob on the f8. I'm willing to pay for this app if zoom is willing to treat it like a first class app.

Not compatible with iOS 13?. When prompting Bluetooth connection it offers “timecode” or “iOS 9-12.” My iPhone is on iOS 13 and while I can select “connect” it won’t prompt me with a dialogue to enter the connection passcode. I just get a blank box that I can’t navigate past. Needs and update for compatibility.

Handy and useful supplemental control surface. A nice addition that allows you to use an iOS device to control and configure the F8 mixer series. Doesn’t have 100% of the main unit’s functions but transport control, levels, mixing, and some metadata editing are available. Some features are not available on iOS such as all card functions and full metadata editing, but it’s still a very useful app. Perhaps future versions will have more features and will fully mirror that main unit’s controls.

Not working for me. Not sure if this is still being updated, but crashing when trying to connect to the recorder. Used to work a couple of years ago but no more. PLEASE FIX

I’d give a 0, if I could.. I cannot connect to either my iPhone 11 max pro or my iPad Pro. The app lists the f8n. I tap on it. It does not bring up a dialogue to enter the password displayed on the F8n. Instead, it redisplays the Bluetooth devices list again, with no entries. I have tried this numerous times on both the iPad and the iPhone. Always with the same results.

If you have a updated ios it won’t work because of laziness. Update needed. If anyone with iOS 13 or above has gotten it to work please let me know how. These complaints have been happening for years and it would be an easy fix but zoom is lazy and still won’t update for new iOS so when I use this at events I am stuck running back and forth and getting bad audio quality. Even their external Bluetooth solution for older models won’t work. So what to I need to do buy an old Apple device specifically so I can remotely control this expensive device??

I cant connect on iOS15. I recently installed this app an am running on iOS15 and it wont give me the prompt to enter my bluetooth pairing password. It just gives me a white page. Even on my iPad running the new iPad OS.

Needs a real update. Lacking basic features like iPhone X support

Great but needs an update!. Love the app and the functionality. Tho it would be nice if the fader adjustments were a little less sensitive. So adjustments on a phone can be made without making 6 dB changes at the tiny twitch of a finger. UPDATE for the Metering on the mixer window is needed as it does not match the fader level of the F8: for instance there is always an offset and my fader level on the app will vary by ~3 dB from the fader reading on the mixer.

Connect to iPad. To connect to iPad on the mixer go to system->bluetooth->select iOS 13. Until I did this I couldn’t connect.

Don't bother. While the app is very pretty, it is maddenly frustrating in that it is almost good and useful. New users to the F8 will initially like it. As time goes by and you actually try to use it in a production environment you will discover its shortcomings. There plenty of forums around detailing all that is wrong with this. Skip this version and wait for a real production ready tablet companion to the F8.

App lacks basic functionality for Take Reset.. I find the app a good extension for some of the work I do but the thought of having to disconnect the app from the recorder, change the scene take in the recorder in order to reset take number and the reconnect the mixer to the control app is the most disappointing thing about this app...

F8 control doesn’t work on iPads with iOS 13.2. Tried F8 control on both my iPad mini and Pro using IOS 13.2 and it will not connect. No problem with my iPhone and the current os for it. 10/31/19

Update needed. When changing next take name thru iPad, the take number won't reset. We need a slate mic button here also, not just the tone button Adding a shortcut button to next take naming on the mixer screen is also needed Adding the ability to name each ISO tracks would be nice also.

Update Needed. iPad software should match the current version of the zoom firmware. Next take does not work on iPad. You need to trick it which takes time. A slate mic needs to be added to the app. The Zoom F8 is on version 3.0 now. Please update this app immediately.

Needs work but gets the job done. Ive used this app in several different ways with my F8. I wish I could make markers or marker cues list. I once did a factory reset on my device & had to reinstall the bluetooth file too so make sure you have the file handy. Please update!!

I NEED this to work on my iPad, NOPE. I appears to be a decent app, but I can only get it to work on my iPhone. iPhone IS NOT on to conflict! I’ve uninstalled and reinstall, I’ve update OS, I’ve turned my F8n on/off, restarted BT over and over again. I’ve barked at the moon, asked for a few “come on’s” and I get rain instead. Works fine on my iPhone, but an iPhone isn’t the viewing and tweaking size I NEED. On neither device is it recognized as an installed app, ask SIRI to find it turn on, troubleshoot it; her answer, “Sorry not an installed app.” =((((

F8. The F8 is one of the best mixer recorders out there. With this app, it's versatility crushes the other mixers hands down. I can use it in a car scene and be in the car behind the actors from pretty far away too! The sad part is though, this app needs an update please. I love this company and it's products. This app looks great, never bugged on me ever. I need a way to use my headphones in the app, and other obvious issues mentioned above. Besides that. Amazing app. Amazing mixer. Please update!!!

Useless. I imagine a day when app developers actually test the software before uploading it to the App Store. On every iOS device I have I tried to connect it to the F8n zoom and on every iOS device it’s the same, it asks for a password for the Bluetooth yet these inconsiderate app developers who have made this app for this expensive equipment has not bothered to even tested as there is no place to enter a password for the Bluetooth connection. From other reviews I can see has been an issue for quite some time. Now I have to waste my time search the Internet for a way to work around it otherwise I may as well have purchased hardware from other companies that actually support their users by testing their software before it’s released. UPDATED: So I sold my own issue no thanks to zoom Corp. On your Zoom F8n you have to go into MENU>>SYSTEM>>BLUETOOTH Then change the iOS from iOS 9-12 To To iOS 13 This is actually quite ridiculous to have to hunt down the settings when it should be clearly stated Anyways good luck everyone with your sound recording 👍

Great app but needs refinement.. This control app really adds to an already great recorder. IThere is a tiny bit of delay but it is smooth and makes mixing with the F8 very viable. This app has Bluetooth pairing issues though. I have found that, the first iOS device pairs o.k. but the Zoom F8 is invisible to others after that. It doesn't matter if the first device is switched off. You have to tell the first device to forget the pairing before you can set up a different device. I can link my iPhone 7 and my iPad air 2 but it is not easy to switch between the two. This is a real pity because the iPad is much better to work with but, when I am travelling light I would like to go with the iPhone. From my understanding Bluetooth pairing with two iOS devices, if not connected at the same time should be possible. The Zoom F8 needs a dedicated Bluetooth page that can manage connections. The control app itself works very well. When used on an iPad it is great but there is a bit too much going on for iPhone screen sizes, so bigger is better. It needs a few things like phantom power and limiter indicators on each channel. These are on the F8's screen, even though it is small. Hopefully these things will be addressed in a future firmware update. I haven't found a way of ganging faders in the short time I've used it, maybe there is. It would be a good feature to have. Documentation is also hard to find for this app, though it is pretty intuitive.

Current version will not connect with Bluetooth. The current version will not connect with Bluetooth via iPad to IOS version 13. The IOS device will recognise the Zoom F8n but IOS will not offer a prompt to enter the password generated, rather the app will hang. I’ve reported this to the Australian distributor who also tested it on their devices and replicated the same error. The app itself looks excellent but for now one star as it’s not possible to use. I’ll update the review once this bug is fixed.

Dont work with the last iOS. Zoom f8 ils a great device, but to be in the pro realm you got to be up to date.

Can’t connect. Bluetooth connection error every time

Very dissatisfied. Description misrepresents what the app does - it does very little, doesn't mix, pan, spent access menu Etc Etc.. How can a Zoom release such a useless app?

Not Good. I hadn’t used my zoom in a few months, updated the firmware in the recorder and updated the app. Now I just get error messages every time. I wrote the “Customer Support” email address and was told, they don’t deal with faulty hardware. I am often a one man band. Previously when the ap worked it was handy.
