SchoolFood Feed Your Mind Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Barcode?. Was told by school officials that the app had a barcode function to scan to get lunch instead of using ID. It did not have barcode.

Great idea, poor execution. Love the idea that we can see the school menus on the phone. But the print is so tiny it is impossible to see and gets distorted when blown up. Also, you can't go to the next month to view it, can only view the current month. Makes it useless as a planning tool.

Great idea, little less great execution. Loved the idea of being able to check the menu at home and talking about what options to choose to avoid certain things. The menu is not readable on a regular iPhone, only on iPad or computer. From other reviews this looks like an old issue that has not yet been fixed. It would be amazing if the app + menu would clearly state which category cuisine a dish falls under. Like it’s often seen at good restaurants using little indicators next to dishes to distinguish them: vegan (Vg) / vegetarian (V) / kosher (K) / nuts (nut) / meat (meat) / dairy (dairy) etc. This would make it so much more manageable for many people.

Just stopped working. The app just stopped loading menus with no easy way to reach out for help

Horrible Update!. With new update the app became useless! It doesnt load at all now!

Frustrating. What a great idea? I can see what my picky eater has at school today so we can talk about trying things yet on a phone you expand the menu and it's so blurry I can barely see it. :(

Needs a lot of work!. I noticed that the issue about the small print reported a year ago was not fixed. Also, I was able to add only one student (I have two children attending a PS). I suggest the menus are not uploaded as an image but entered into the system to prevent the text from being too small and difficult to read.

Hard to read. I appreciate the effort. But it is hard to read the menus. They need to be a higher resolution!

Broken. Was working, but something broke in this app in the last week.

Use PDFs instead of photos please. The image of the menu looks like a photo because when you zoom in it loses resolution. Please put a full resolution PDF so I can zoom in and read the small print.

wow. I was a bit interested in this app, but once I downloaded the app, it wouldn’t let me through. It stated “Select language” but for no languages appeared in the section. I had internet, but many notices stated “No Network”. Whoever made this must have really did a poor job.

Feed your mind. I like this app!👍now I know what I will be having for lunch/breakfast,because I always have to ask around,"what are we having today"

im new to this. no food services served during 8:38 am so im making food myself

Menu files are illegible. The concept of this app is great and overall organization is good. However the whole point of the app is to be able to read the menus on it. The menus images need to be rendered in a different format so that the end user can see them, especially when enlarging the picture. Please fix this.

This was a good app. Now all it say when you try to open it is.... please check your internet service. No internet. Everything else in my house is working fine. It’s been doing this for 3 days.

As bad as public school food. One has to be joking with this app. Displaying blurry unreadable menu sheets that are not scaling up mobile screen is just useless and lame. Asking for my location is obnoxious and clear that the publisher is trying to make money off naive parents data.

DOE Mess. Doesn’t work half the time, and is clunky when it does work. Not to mention the food is often not what’s actually being served.

Students would do a better job designing this app. Like others have said, the concept here is great (especially since the DOE no longer posts printer friendly menus on their website), but the actual app is AWFUL!!! I can’t even see the menus and currently it will not acknowledge my child because when I try to enter his birthday it only gives me one option: today’s date. Seriously they should give this app over to some kids as a coding project and it would be 1000 times better.

Who designed this app?. Did they try reading the menu on their phone? What size phone do you think people have? Also, had to call schoolfood to find out which menu to look at. Leaves me with less confidence in school meals and public school in general. Also, every other reviewer has said the same thing so obviously they don't care.

Worked at the beginning. Now it doesn’t even open.

See into the future?. I haven’t found a way to look at the next month’s menu ahead of time. It would be nice if we could see at least the first week of the next month to plan ahead. I also agree that the print is difficult to read. I also have two children in different schools and cannot log in as both. It is very helpful to find summer meals and also to quickly see what the kids might have for lunch (as long as it isn’t the first of the month.)

No Menus. Haven’t been able to view any menus for weeks.

Simple & Straight-to-it!. Works well, looks fresh and clean. Would love to see more features and interactivity in the future.

Never works!!!. 9/10 times it shows “No network connection”. So you can never see the menus. They really need to fix that bug. I want to know what to send for lunch for my kids and it depends on what the school is serving for hot lunch so it app would really help me, but it’s useless.

Please fix app. You cannot see the menu when you click on lunch menu it is blank since please update this app.

Good idea. Good

Menu is very Bad quality. I have to guess what it says on the menu, because the quality of the menu is very very bad. Please upload the better quality of menus. Thank you

Very glitchy. For last week and a half a blank page displays for everything except breakfast. Wound up having to go to website instead.

Some improvements needed and it would be perfect. I love the simplicity of this app, but 2 key things would ensure I used it. 1) for the menu to be higher quality image/pdf so it is not blurry when I zoom in on a week/day. Then it will be easier to read. 2) the ability to navigate to another month. I can only see one meal for next week since we hit June and I can only find Mays's menu using this app. Thanks!

Not accurate. There were several days that the food at the school was not the same as the menu.

Terrible app, stopped working in Nov ‘22. Just an awful interface. Hard to print. And stopped working entirely a couple weeks ago. Won’t show any menus at all.

AWESOME & USEFUL APP!!!. In simple words AWESOME APP!! Excellent concept, design and UI. Easy to understand and grab everything, very fast with full of features. Really appreciated this app and would like give all credits to concept, design and development team. It eased my life of searching food and other things around. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED FOR EVERYONE!!!

Low Quality. It’s understandable that NYC wants kids and their families to know what they are served on a daily basis whether you are a 7th grader or a 10th grader. Whatever the case may be, the menus are low quality. They are small and you can barely read them. Some might think it’s autofocus and will focus itself. It will not. The menus are pictures provided from their websites and the websites pictures are way better.

Food not as listed. The items on the menu don’t match what is offered each day. Annoying!

Not fully visible. I like the idea of the app but the whole end of the calendar is cut off so you cannot read it. Even if you try to zoom out or turn your phone sideways. Really hope that they fix it soon then app would be much more useful.

Amazing App. In short its amazing what we want its already there, Gr8 job

OMG, Fix the Graphics Already. It’s been like this for over a year. Can you maybe call out for some volunteers from the PTA or something to fix this?

No internet connection. App wont load states no internet connection, yet I am connected to the internet.

Stopped working. Won’t open to see “menu type”. This app needs a lot of work.

Convenient. I can check the menu and find a location easily.

Language options don’t actually work when you view the food menu. When you open the app, it’s offered in 10 languages which looks so promising. Especially in NYC where there are many families where English may not be the primary language spoken at home. However once you select the language and then navigate in your preferred language, it just takes you to same exact English menu!!! What a fail for accessibility. It’s like they sorta tried to make it accessible to non-English speakers and then didn’t actually bother making it useful!!

Tried 3 times. The app unfortunately is not showing the menus!😟. Been trying since yesterday.

Great idea, terrible app. Super buggy. Impossible to access menus sometimes. Doesn’t recognize student IDs or birthdates. Just one example of how little care has gone into this app is that January is spelled wrong in the rolling menu to enter your kid’s birthday. On the app it’s spelled JanGuary. Hopefully the city didn't dole out a big contract to this developer. It’s a truly terribly implemented app.
