Awesome.. until you get to level 4. It love the app, both lectures and practice sessions. After 1-2 days of rehearsing any song I could get at least 3 silver stars, often - 3 golden stars.. until I got to level 4. There a teacher tells you that you can “double your picking speed by picking up and down”… and then they literally throw you under the bus, all the practice sessions on level 4 expect you to start playing twice faster just after watching a 3-minute lesson! And I miserably failed to get even a single star in ANY of the songs they offer at level 4 after few days of trying. Extremely frustrating, I regret paying for 1 year subscription as I this app is pretty useless once you get to level 4 UPDATE: after two weeks of practicing, I finally earned 3 silver stars and learning further songs is not that frustrating. Please fix the start of level 4 by adding 2-3 songs with gradually increasing complexity

What once was a great app is now ruined. I’ve virtually never written a review in my life but I felt compelled to in this situation considering how much I used to love this app. I downloaded Yousician over a year ago and was initially blown away. I used to take guitar lessons when I was much younger and the app made it so easy to pick it back up again. Lessons used to be guided with videos and your progression in technique was mapped out in a diagram that outlined what had been completed and what was yet to come. There were several other competitor apps that I considered but what really set Yousician apart was the community of shared and user created content. With recent updates to the app they’ve removed user created content wiping out 90% of their artist and song catalogue. (For those of you who don’t understand the significance of this, user created content enabled you to find virtually any song you were looking for.) After reading that “popular” songs were reserved for premium+ subscribers I upgraded only to be disappointed, again, at the lack of content. For any new users reading who have signed up since July/August, this app used to offer so much more without having to trick people into paying more for less. And what an absolute shame, it really used to be great.

I’m not ur personal bank. So i loved this app before I found out I had to pay a subscription to keep learning AND pick my own songs to play. First of all, I’m a child, not a bank. Second of all, it’s unfair that I have to pay to learn to sing. I wanted to learn how to sing my fav songs from Hamilton, Imagine Dragons, Shawn Mendes, etc. But I can’t because I not only have to pay you guys, it doesn’t even have some of the best songs on earth! Some suggestions? Add Hamilton (musical) and Enemy (imagine dragons, jid). And what I said before, abt me being a kid? I’m in 5th grade and u expect me to have credit card info? I don’t even have a phone number!! On top of that, I have in app purchases disabled. I might delete this app and find a better, free version where I don’t have to pay to have fun learning to sing. I think you either prefer adults or have a greedy guts for money. And if it’s money you want, just do ads to unlock the next lesson or unlock new songs. Not to mention, my singing voice sounds EXACTLY THE SAME AS IT DID BEFORE THIS APP. This was a flop, and I only gave 3 stars because it was an actually good app before it asked for my dads money. Oh, PLEASE, like he knows I even USE this app. And if you do add ads, don’t make them like OBNOXIOUS and every 5 DUCKING SECONDS. You can’t expect anything to change after 4 missions. This app deserves 2 stars rather than 3. You’re lucky I’m nice. 🤬👿😠😤😖😡

It’s easy but.... It easy but I think it gets to hard after like two lessons and I think that its kinda annoying on the first lesson where it doesn’t care to you when your wrong and and with the singing one, forget it it listens to whatever I say and it’s so hard on the first lesson and with the ukulele & piano are so hard, the piano, the first lesson it was simple, second, simple, but the third sheesh it was so hard and it doesn’t correct you at all and it makes you feel bad when you mess up ONE TIME it like fails you half the thing which is annoying and it’s kinda un fair for the people who don’t wanna play because you don’t complete all the lessons because the last one is premium and it’s a song so you have to skip it and then when you do pay you have to pay a lot because you can just pay for one this and with the ukulele I think that it’s hard on the first and second song, yes the song, so I feel like it’s a little to hard because like, it’s a song are you barely know and even worse when you mess up it doesn’t correct you it just takes away a star with is really frustrating and I’m not trying to be a Karen over here I’m just saying my opinion *reads* ok I sound like a Karen but still... I just think it’s just hard to fast. And that’s my review... (but I still use the app:)

Hate the NEW interface! Please change back!!. I tried the new version for several months now and I just hate it so much. In the old version you could clearly see your progress, different paths, what was coming up, scrolling vertically. Super easy and visual. Now it’s horizontal and you can only look a section of the paths with all these frickin numbers (your levels, how many lessons within each section), etc. It’s horrible. So frustrating. Actual lessons are the same and still effective, but choosing paths, seeing where you are, and feeling any kind of accomplishment is Gone. You could study their paragraphs and paragraphs of instruction in their FAQ section to figure out how to use this new version but before it was so intuitive! Please bring back the old or give us a choice! I am sure you are going to give me your bot response of how change can be hard and that I will grow to love it. I am giving honest feedback- I tried it and hate it and so do many other paying customers. Listen to your users!

Kind of annoying. I got this app a few days ago, which probably isn’t enough time to have an opinion on this app, but I’m impatient so... yeah the subscription annoys me a lot because I just want to play the guitar since my family doesn’t really think I can do it. They obviously wouldn’t pay for a subscription for me either. So I only would get one lesson a day. Which really frustrates me because sometimes I get super bored and playing the guitar is really the only thing to do. It also reads my notes and chords wrong. I play on the first fret, (like I’m supposed to) and it marks it red. It also frustrates me that they don’t give you that much motivation to play if you don’t have the subscription. It’s like “if you don’t hand over your wallet then you don’t get to play the guitar.” And it’s very annoying. Also, the Yousician “classic” songs aren’t very like able and they don’t have much variety. There’s country and that’s about it, because you have to pay money to listen and play actual good songs of course (I know it’s kind of petty of me lol) ok well that is my honest review of the free version of this app, thanks for your time!

I like it but there’s something you need to fix. I really enjoy learning from Yousician. I’m learning to play the piano at the moment. I learned from my friends and I know a lot of notes and a few songs but I want to learn the basics and try and get really good. One thing I don’t really like though is the premium thing. Like I get that people have to make a profit so you do this premium program but not everyone has the time and money to learn this. I feel like Yousician got more attention if you’d let aspiring piano players (or any instrument) learn faster and for free. Shouldn’t everyone has access to the beauty of music? I have a friend who’s been learning piano for 7 years from her teacher but she has to pay about 100 or something per lesson. So i’d much rather learn from Yousician but I can’t learn as fast and as efficiently as I’d like to because of this silly program. Maybe if you made people pay money for something else in the app like idk maybe to unlock a song you need a certain amount of points and if you don’t have enough you can pay to unlock it. Something like that. I just think that if you made it free that you’d get a lot more attention :) but that’s my opinion. I just hope you agree with me, and thanks if you read this whole thing by the way

GREAT APP FOR LEARNING BASS, but…. This is a GREAT app for learning bass guitar. I absolutely love it. The instructors are great (I also took some guitar and piano in the app; a true plus is you can learn other instruments for the same price), and the opportunity to play with music tracks of various styles is awesome. With the bass, it’s particularly important to hear music behind you and to play along. I’ve literally had hours of enjoyment. For sheer joy of playing, I can’t recommend this app more. However, I did struggle to play outside the app. There’s no information about how bass players play along with or adapt chord charts; no info about scales or improvising with them (which is what bass players commonly do); no info or training at all on reading standard tab and applying it to a song. So while I LOVE playing with the app and the way it teaches instruments, I wish it would cover this other important info. I’d also love way more jazz tracks and less metal, in a perfect world. But you won’t regret the money you spend. I’ve never learned an instrument so fast in my life.

New does not equal improved. The new lessons are from Metallica. I am not a fan. If they had continued the 10, 20, 30 minute guided lesson - still available on the piano app. There is still a lot of material for me to work from on the "learn" tab - in "missions" and "workouts." I liked the guided lesson because it helped me to keep up practice on things I already learned and it fit the time I had to give it. I am an adult re-learner of guitar and I started using Yousician about three years ago with the free version and signed up for the full version a year and a half ago. I created an Excel chart to keep track of "workouts: skill builders." This is helpful because Yousician has introduced me to chords and skills I didn't know existed. My goal is to be able to join my church worship band so I wish you had some contemporary Christian music for me to work on. I have used the singing app and would give it three stars because there are very few pieces for the first soprano range AND, especially AND, there is no option for standard notation!!!! I like to sing old Broadway music - My Fair Lady; Carousel; The King and I, Phantom of the Opera (Christine's and Carlotta's parts}, etc.

Great program. Ripped me off for a full year sub. The app is great. I signed up for a month. Cancelled this am before the end of the month because I didn’t want to forget(was possible gonna renew later but want gonna have much time next month). With more than a week left on my rx- I sign in and the app makes it appear that I can’t utilize the non-free material because I’ve cancelled but gives me the option to “renew”. I thought that this was very annoying but figured I’d renew then use the rest of my paid month and cancel before the end of the week. The renew option gave no hint that it would do anything other than continue what id already purchased and certainly made no suggestion that by hitting this button that I’d be upgrading to a full year subscription... some thing I’d never even considered. Very misleading. I would approach the makers personally if the site didn’t give you the dead end of “you need to approach iTunes” which then gives an immediate “you don’t qualify for a refund”. I’m not a troll.... not a complainer... and I’m not an idiot. I’ll pay and enjoy the program for a year... but this was a trap. Just posting to hopefully prevent someone else from falling into it.

Cool concept, execution a bit lacking.. First off, if you’re like me and you want to perfect each exercise (get 3 stars) before moving on to the next, be prepared for endless hours of frustration. The app doesn’t do a very good job of picking up notes that are very clearly being played (like, you can clearly hear the full chord and see that every string is ringing), especially if you’re playing through an amp. They either need to fix the note recognition problem, or relax the standards a bit. It’s more a matter of luck than skill whether or not you manage to make it through a whole song without at least one note in a chord not registering, and it kind of takes the joy out of using the app. It’s much less of a problem on the “knowledge” and “lead” path where you’re mostly playing individual notes than it is with the “rhythm” path. Besides that, the original songs are pretty cheesy. Would be cool to learn more blues licks and picking patterns, but maybe I just haven’t gotten far enough into the exercises for all that because I’m stuck trying to get 3 stars on some dumbed down version of Brown Eyed Girl or whatever.

Almost good.. What the app does well, it does well. Teaching the basics to beginners, proper technique and the like. However at the door of all of that, when you’re getting into playing the songs that are available, it really loses its shine. The song list is extremely basic, I constantly find myself listening and filling in tons of blank spaces. Single note trains isn’t fun or challenging for a bass player and leads me outright frustration. Some of the best known bassists aren’t even on the playlists, aside from rhcp, and some classic players from the ages. The problem with this is while it structures the fundamentals for bass, it doesn’t teach or challenge a player into becoming an outstanding bassist that really stands out on stage. Seeing as I paid the full 180 dollars for the year subscription, I feel I have grounds to complain about this. I also recommend, if the developers even read this, to include an option to disable vocals. The singers are very jarring to listen to. A playlist of songs that are incrementally more challenging and use unorthodox Basslines is something I hope to see in the future; as it stands for bass the song choices are incredibly monotonous. I can only speak for the bass side of things.

Pretty Great! 4.5 for me. Guitar has proved to be a lot harder than any instrument I’ve tried so far, so it was really neccessary for me to have a game plan and track to follow. I love the certificates that you can opt to email to yourself, its super cute and makes you feel real proud. I also love how it has lessons on understanding the music and notes itself. I think tgats often overlooked but very important. I would 100% reccomend the pro version if you can, it makes learning a lot more enjoyable without annoying ads and playing original songs ratger than yousician ones. The only complaints i have is that I think that we should be able to skip certain certain lessons or songs. Some are just too hard :/ and I’d rather be able to keep practicing other skills then come back to this. Another complaint I have, I think that it’d make the app even better if you had the chords and notes to more popular songs that we could choose to play similar to the challenges or guitar tabs. Also it would be amazing if we had song library where we can practice our favorite songs we’ve played throughout the lessons. But overall its a pretty great app.

I love this app. I’ve tried teaching myself and I’ve tried taking lessons in person but I always found that I would get burned out on the material I had to practice or the instructor would be moving too fast. I’ve had the app for 3 days and I’ve already played for 12hrs lol (I have a broken foot and don’t have anything else to do). I can honestly say I’ve never enjoyed learning this much. There is plenty of songs to practice and you’re moving at your own pace with instant feedback, which is unparalleled. I will say the chords feedback is pretty forgiving, I will muck it up pretty bad and still pull off a “perfect”. I’ve been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for years but have given up many times, with this app I have no doubt that I can become at competent at least. The price is steep but if you look around at private lessons and compare, it’s a steal (shhh don’t tell the developers). If the developers are reading, thanks for giving me the opportunity to finally learn how to play an instrument.

Great...but. Yousician has been really helpful in my guitar journey. I have learned a lot about the different ways to play and how to play most effectively, and sometimes it will give you a song to play as part of your lesson. Now I’m not a master guitar player, but sometimes it will tell me that I played the wrong note, when I clearly played the right one. My microphone is clearly exposed to the sound of my guitar and my guitar is fully in tune. I will pluck a string, and it will say that I got it wrong, even though I plucked the right string in the right fret. Worst of all, some lessons require you to get 100% completion on a song in order to move on and complete a skill, so sometimes I will find myself playing a song over and over and over for more time than I would like to spend perfecting every note of the song. Also, things like this can be really frustrating, I would know, and if you play a song without wearing headphones, the microphone will pick up what your speakers are spitting out and tell you that you’re wrong for every note until you wear headphones. It tells you before hand to “wear headphones for best experience” you basically have to wear headphones in order to use the app. And if you don’t have headphones with you, then you’re in quite a pickle. The app is great, but can get very frustrating.

Good except for one thing. I have been using this app for a little while now and I’ve been loving it! I enjoy how the songs aren’t too fast for beginners and you can try them over and over again. I also like practice mode, where you can slow down how fast the song goes so you can work your way up to the normal speed. The only reason I’m rating this 4 stars is because almost every time I go to start a song this message pops up with the option to try out the 7 day free trial. I understand that Yousician wants to get as many people to try or buy the Premium stuff, but I don’t want to be shown the offer 3 times during my free lesson time, and it takes away from my time as well. Point being, I’m tired of seeing the pop up message and I just want to get to my song. This happens every single day I practice. I don’t need to be shown something over and over again. The only message I will accept is the one that lets you know when you free lesson time is up, but the others are unacceptable. Thank you.

Singing great, guitar tuning terrible. I’ve been using this app for a while now for my singing, and it’s been great, but a bit ago I tried to guitar lessons on it, and the part that helped you tune the guitar was absolute trash. It either said I was to high or too low, never in the middle. It also would say that I needed to make it lower, so I would try, and I would barely tune, because at this point it was so tight it was almost impossible to make tighter, and then it said I was way to low and needed to make it higher, once again, I just barely turned the thing to tune it, and it was saying it need to be lower. It also, would stay in the middle between perfect and way to high, and would never move, except for when that one part I just mentioned would happen. I bet even if I went to a professional tuner it would say it’s to high or to low. Please, please fix this. If it wasn’t for that, then this would probably be 5 star review. Well, 5 star if that wouldn’t happen, and you didn’t have to install an entirely different app for piano. Also, please make the daily lesson time longer, it is WAY too short. Make the limit 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Don’t put a price on knowledge. I love this app I just started playing acoustic guitar and I have learned a lot but there is one problem you don’t get lessons easy time you want there’s a certain amount of lessons you can do in a day and that is really annoying cause some people don’t want to spend $27 dollars a month to learn how to play an instrument education should be free because you can’t put a price on knowledge and you guys are really being unfair to the people who don’t spend money on apps like me and I really want to learn how to play this instrument but you guys are giving me the restriction of learning. Fix this please this is something that other people would agree on. And maybe if you don’t stop doing this I have an idea that might make people happy cut your price in half or maybe more and then people would do that because people hate things that cost a lot of money. And they might tell their friends and family about this app. Please do this not just for me but for other people who would agree with me.

Makes learning fun!. I got my first ukulele while on a cruise to Hawaii. They had fun classes onboard taught by a Hawaiian ambassador. He was such a neat fun guy and had me loving the ukulele. When I got home I wanted to learn more and found this app. This app is fun, easy to understand and has kept me loving my uke. I play daily at least 30 mins using this app. My dad uses it as well with his uke. It’s fun to see how we are progressing on our playing skills. I like how you can practice a song and slow down the tempo. I tend to start at 75% speed to kinda learn the song, cords or fretting. Then I move up in increments of 10% until I feel ready to preform the song in the actual lesson. One thing I’d suggest when using the app. Use earbuds. Sometimes if you have the app too loud it has issues hearing your instrument, if you are a soft player. Earbuds or the like, are perfect as you can clearly hear the lesson and your instrument. As for the price for premium... I think it’s very reasonable. Lessons taught in person would cost much more. Plus this app offers lessons for guitar, bass, ukulele and piano! A great bang for your buck, I’d say. Long story short, if you want to learn to play... I highly recommend this fun app.

Free version is a good learning tool. The free version is a good learning tool with plenty of versatility to try different instruments or styles. You do have to put up with an ad every few minutes and there’s a limit to the amount of time you can use in one day, but for beginning or casual players it’s sufficient. The paid version, however, feels like a scam. The monthly version for $20 limits you to one instrument for ad free, unlimited playing. I paid for piano for my daughter and then she got interested in the ukulele =money wasted. The annual version allows you to switch between instruments theoretically, but only if you are willing to cough up $120 up front. Worse: it’s super easy to sign up for a subscription and impossible to cancel. Signing up happens with a click of a button on the app. However, to cancel one has to sign in to iTunes and cancel the subscription. However, after attempting to do this multiple times, Yousician is still trying to charge my debit card every day. The only reason for the 3 stars is the free version. The paid version gets 1 or less! Update: customer service assured me that account had been cancelled; however, a new gift card entered in iTunes was immediately charged. It appears that we paid $20 for the ‘privilege’ of canceling the service. Funds are not refunded when you cancel. This is completely unethical business practice. Too bad because the app concept is good.

Good tool for practice. I’m already a working musician (rhythm guitar and bass in a couple of bands), so I came to Yousician to work specifically on lead guitar skills it’s been easy to neglect. On that, it has delivered; I’m a more confident soloist than I was a year ago, with more techniques in my repertoire. This wasn’t a goal, but I’m also more comfortable playing against a click track. Bonus! A few quibbles: The app doesn’t seem to judge the quality of notes—I’ve gotten a “Perfect” for clams that I would never accept in a recording session. Some of the fingerings seem a little off, more commonly in the assigned finger than in the fret/string. I’ve occasionally gotten stuck in what feels like an endless practice loop of the same song: I think I’m done with it, and then it’s there the next time I open the app, and it must be passed before I can move on to anything else. And the synthy-ness of the arrangements can be a little annoying (though it’s probably a necessary evil to accommodate the tempo shifts). Still, this does what it says it does, and the structure really does make you practice more. I’m not sure I would make this (or any app) my only approach to learning an instrument, but it’s a great supplement.

The best way to learn at your pace. I’ve wanted to learn the guitar for pretty much all of my adult life. I’ve tried multiple methods with no success. Yousician starts from the very beginning where I needed to, and does not assume anything. I’m not good. I have to run through the practices multiple times and slow it way down, and set it to automatically speed up as I improve. I’ve committed to practicing every day - a time I call ‘my daily frustration’. Which is what this is made for! People who can’t just pick up an instrument and suddenly know how to play it. People who maybe don’t have that ‘artistic’ brain and need things broken down, and what to practice, step-by-step to build upon. Just follow the bouncing ball. Did this app suddenly endow me with amazing talent? No. Is it helping me to work through my frustration and learn something that is difficult for me? Heck yes. Highly recommend for anyone who has almost given up because it’s not as easy for you as it seems to be for everyone else.

Amazing app! Just a small suggestion.... This app is truly amazing! There is I think five different instruments you can choose from, and you can do all at once if you’d like. There is singing, guitar, piano, bass, and ukulele. I use singing and guitar and piano. They all work extremely well, and after a couple days of practice I am already getting better! And I did not get the premium. My cousin did though and she is WAY better at the guitar now! One thing I do suggest for the guitar is you use headphones because it picks up other sounds easily sometimes. There is something that is kinda annoying. I was going to do the monthly premium thing, but it every month. It’d be great if there was something I could do to buy it for only one month. I just want to pay for a single month because I do t have enough money for every month all the time. But it isn’t a big deal because I still am learning at a very fast rate! Highly recommend!!!

The reason I cancelled. I believe this app has good intention for beginners. I will tell you that videos and tutorials have good structure and take you through the right path of consistency to learn to play an instrument accurately. To learn to play an instrument is key to express yourself day in and day out through music. So, about structure, and since this a good tool to practice, I give you, guys, a thumbs-up. However... the reason I have rated this app 4-star is because it truly doesn’t make me feel like I progress. The difficulty level is questionable. There are times the app doesn’t recognize the notes I’m playing, and some songs seem to get a bit difficult to play for mere beginners, which makes me feel frustrated and stuck on the same songs for days of practice (even if you were to play that song for an intensive 30 min lesson). So no, I don’t think this app is wack, or a waste of money, don’t get me wrong. No hard feelings. But I don’t think it’s intended for beginners. I look forward to solidify my knowledge and some basics first before coming back. Later on, I would definitely give you guys a second try.

Tab. So I downloaded this because I'm new to the ukulele (like 5 days new). I'd had pretty good practice before downloading this (I knew how to read tab and was pretty good at quickly moving between chords) the only thing that bothers me about this is when I have to play. While the bouncy ball/track aesthetic seems like a fun way to learn, to me it's just confusing and causes me to lose track of what string the ball is going to bounce on vs. where my finger is. Is there a way to convert tests/practices to regular tab rather than a track? If not please add that in. Other than that, this has been extensively helpful. *Update* I played around with it and found something similar to what's mentioned above. But not enough. It would be much more helpful if the track at least ran vertically instead of horizontally. What would be most helpful is a page showing the individual tabs with a mini track going through the them rather than laying them on a track. I imagine that'd be a hell of a lot cheaper to animate than what you guys got now.

Blessed With This App. We all know lessons can be expensive in reality. Ranging from as little as $20 to $60 PER lesson, and that’s just for beginners. So how does a blossoming musician learn without being robbed of their money and having to GO TO the lesson, and only able to practice what the trainers assign or what you can find online. To me, that doesn’t sound very convenient. The answer is simple- YOUSICIAN! They walk you through everything, giving you personalized lessons and feedback. There’s such a wide variety of songs, you can almost always find what you’re looking for! I play the guitar, and for as little as $9.99 a month, I’m able to work around my own schedule, not someone else’s to be able to learn the guitar more effectively. I can even tell the app how much time I have for the lesson, and they work with that. Again, this is an inexpensive, convenient, efficient, and effective way to learn your dream instrument. This app works for the busiest people to the people who want to spend all their time learning, and 1 lesson per week isnt cutting it. Don’t spend over a hundred dollars a month on lessons, when you have Yousician right in front of you! 👌🏻Yousician is a blessing!!!

Great app but.... Yousician has been an awesome app. Ive been using the app to learn both guitar and ukulele the past few weeks and have progressed fairly quickly, but not without some frustrations. Frequently the app has trouble distinguishing me from its own background track, and will fail me on a song that I am playing correctly. This forces me to go back and play the song again, usually an extra 3 or 4 times, before it will pick up enough of my playing to allow me to move on with the lesson. I also wish it would teach you a few more songs that I could play outside of the app. I have gotten through several levels on both instruments and have not really learned any songs on either. Playing along with the music during the lesson works well enough, but when you’re done with your lesson the app pretty much locks down everything, including the songs you’ve already unlocked, unless you have premium. This is new since the update, and I wish it would go back! I understand not being able to access new content outside your allotted 10/15 minutes without paying, but without being able to practice what you’ve already started working on, it really slows down progress.

Great for beginners. This app is teaching me how to play the bass guitar and if I do say so myself, I’m coming along great! It definitely does what it advertises. The fact that Yousician not only teaches me how to play, but I’m gaining physical knowledge on the actual guitar. It’s almost as if I were getting real life guitar lessons!! It is user friendly, efficient, prompt, and accurate. Couldn’t be more pleased with an app that does all that Yousician does, that’s FOR SURE! It makes it to where I enjoy the lessons. The free trial is great too because it allows the students to check out the app and see if it suits them or not. Everyone is different so, the fact that you can try Yousician absolutely free is super neat! One last thing that I have to mention; whoever thought of the “daily goal” idea when producing this app was absolutely marvelous! I think that was so cool and inspiring! I go over the daily goal of course, 😉 but when I first saw that, I thought it was awesome! So kudos on that detail. So all in all, this app is simply and purely genius. Thank you very much! After my free trial is up, I will be purchasing whatever needs purchasing. In a few weeks I’ll be able to rock out with my boyfriend and his band mates!

Total Garbage. This app is ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR BEGINNERS. It’s a 110% waste of you money. It a great concept but, it doesn’t work. When your playing it doesn’t pick up the notes consistently or evenly enough. Sometimes it will register a note in a song and other times it will not. Sometimes it will tell you, you are early or late playing a note. Sometimes you play the same note right on Time an it will register it as being wrong. So if your a beginner on an intermediate player it hard to get good feedback on what’s really going on in terms of if you doing things right or wrong. Instead of adding more songs what they need to do fix the basics. Creating software that is dead on accurate in terms of registering every note correctly. I paid for the basic subscription and I totally regret it. I will definitely cancel it before it renews again. If they ever bother to fix this issue, then it will be just what they claim it to be the “the best way to learn guitar”. As it stands no this app is TOTAL GARBAGE. If you are a beginner it will only hold you back long term.

Beware of Trial. I signed up for the free trial over Christmas break for my son who now has a guitar. The app was doing okay at first and he seemed to like it. Then it couldn’t hear him well enough and kept asking for an amp to be plugged in (or not giving him credit for the notes he was playing.) An amp we don’t have...so now it just doesn’t seem to pick up what he’s playing despite lots of attempts to make it work. On the last day of the trial, I canceled because this was frustrating him and he quit playing. I had signed up for the 3 month subscription (with the trial you had to commit to something) because it was a good deal if he was really committed. When I went to cancel, it wouldn’t let me because it wasn’t 24 hours before the end of the trial (so technically 6 days...not 7). I emailed Yousician and they told me it was out of their hands and I needed to contact Apple. Well Apple pretty much told me it was my fault that I didn’t read the initial email (which it is in there and I didn’t see it at the time...it is my fault I suppose) but definitely disappointing that there was no grace and I was just out $60. That’ll teach me not to do trials. They always get you one way or another. And I wouldn’t have minded the $60 if the app worked well enough to pick up the sound without extra equipment. Just an 11 year old kid with a busy schedule wanting to learn how to play the guitar. :(

Great Learning System. I LOVE this app so far. I have tried learning guitar on my own multiple different times and always ended up giving up on it, mostly because I wasn't seeing the results I wanted and also because I just didn't know what to do. This system makes it fun and easy to learn, no matter what skill level you are. I really like that they make it like a game. I grew up playing guitar hero and the song layouts on here are a lot like it, so that makes it really fun as well as beneficial. I also like the skill progressions, as well as the certificates you can download. I personally like to physically see progress, so being able to see how many stars I have on each song, or if I perfected it and got gold stars really helps me to see just how far my skill level is actually progressing. I am saving every certificate each time I go up a skill level and can't wait to put them all together when I finish the program. I would HIGHLY recommend this program; especially as someone who has tried for years to learn the guitar and got very minimal results on my own. Plus it's cheaper than getting guitar lessons from an actual coach. If you are someone who is a visual learner and can coach/critique yourself as you go, this would be a great program for you. I haven't had this much fun learning something new in a very long time. 10/10

Love it, needs some improvement... 4 1/2 stars. This app is the best ever! I love its learning experience and how they motivate you. Although this is my favorite app, I’m disappointed for a few reasons. First, the “need headphones” issue almost all other reviews are talking about is a big one. Using headphones really isn’t a big deal! However, if you don’t have any, the app just will NOT work. The fact that it picks up the noise that the app is making itself is a bad issue. Next, the new update. This one is partly my fault, but still. I clicked onto the app to take a lesson, and it told me to update the app. I wanted to do it, and so I tried to, only to discover my storage was full. May I note that I still had 4 1/2 empty GB. Anyway, I got back into the app to take a lesson and clear up space later and I clicked on the X in the corner. It was a fake X. Now I have to clear up lots of storage for 20 minutes (my tablet takes forever to clear fpr some reason), and in the meantime I just cannot take a guitar lesson. These are some issues, and please clear them. This is still one of my fav apps! Sorry for the long review... bye! Edit: The update thing is less of an issue now, however the fact that you can’t use until updating us SUUUUPERR frustrating. Like, can I just learn guitar BEFORE updating?

I love this app😍. OK soi wanted to learn piano 🎹 money. But it’s different you don’t have to pay money I mean if you want to it’s $30 per month but who want to do that. Instead you can play along with any instrument do you have and it will give you free time to play and once the free times over you try tomorrow. This way you can learn so much, they even did you singing there’s one instrument you can’t plan that, drums. It will ask you for money now and then but you can just refuse. That’s why I give it a five star. Currently in this app I am learning singing and piano, it is so very helpful. It’s helpful when you’re just a nine-year-old and it’s vacation and you have nothing to do.(I am a nine year old) back in my home I took piano classes and didn’t exactly work out because I didn’t know what to do, and he tried so hard I mean I tried hard but I couldn’t understand anything to years later here in America I told him many apps piano apps and ask me for money so I had to delete them but Yousician is different I love it. I know it asks for money but you can just refuse. My mom doesn’t have a car so I can’t go to any classes with this app I can learn anything on the piano sitting at home. In Conclusion this is a great app.

Acoustic guitar is kind of wonky. Great app, having a great time with it and learning a lot. My only real negative feedback is that the note detection with an acoustic guitar can be a little off sometimes. It sometimes registers notes that you didn’t play, but even worse is when it doesn’t hear notes that you _did_ play. It does this seemingly at random, and it makes it really obnoxious when you’re trying to perfect a song. It also frequently tells me to “plug in if you’re using an electric guitar”. I’m playing in a quiet room directly next to my iPad’s microphone so it’s not like I’m far away or playing quietly. The way it senses chords can be obnoxious also. I sometimes screw up a C and get some sour or dead notes in there, but it will register them as perfectly played. However, it _loves_ to tell me I have dead notes on Am even if I don’t. Again, when you’re playing the same some for the 4th or 5th time, trying to perfect it, and you _do_ play it perfectly and it _still_ says you missed, it’s enough to make you want to smash your guitar sometimes.

Great app! Few minor tweaks. There seems to be some issue with logging in when starting up. I kept getting logged out and a couple times had to restart all progress from scratch because it didn’t save onto my account for some reason. Also, when learning the guitar, the “chord checker” trainings are WAY too strict in my opinion. One string will be only slightly not ringing out, but otherwise the chord sounds good and it won’t let me move on. That level of strictness is good for if I’m supposed to play x number of chords exactly right to move on. But when it requires a lot of chords to be played in a short amount of time and it will only accept them if each one is absolutely entirely technically perfect it’s way too difficult for a beginner. I keep getting stuck on those lessons for hours and not able to get past which is super frustrating. I know for an advanced player changing chords quickly and accurately is crucial. But as a beginner I just want confirmation that I’m doing it at lost almost totally right so I can keep learning, then I can go back and fine tune and perfect.

It’s okay.. I got this app because my father got me a guitar about 4 years ago and for some odd reason I didn’t play it. My father passed away in 2020 due to multiple reasons and I told myself that I was going to learn guitar no matter what. I started playing with this app and overall it was really nice! Though I was a bit sad because of the free trial, you see I don’t have a lot of money and to be completely honest my mother wouldn’t want to spend money on a guitar app. So sadly I can’t play anymore? I’m confused. Do you have to pay money to get more lessons? There’s many questions I have. Of course I don’t dislike the app and I find it great for learning, but it’s a bit difficult when the app asks for a free trial to continue. Don’t get me wrong this is a great learning app but also a little tip is maybe to make it so it hears the guitar more :). Though I love the app it’s personally a bit difficult. Maybe add ads Instead of a free trial but then again I know you have to make money. That makes sense. I just wish that you can continue without the free trial. Feel free to respond to me, I would love to learn guitar :), Thanks!

Premium is a bit shady. I purchased the premium for ukulele version of this app for about $120 for the year. It’s by far the most money I’ve ever spent on an app, but it’s cheaper and more convenient than scheduled lessons so I thought why not. I feel like I’ve learned a lot from the app but recently felt cheated when in my lesson popped up a song, Brown Eyed Girl, which I was excited about because many of the songs are a bit obscure they give you to play and I knew this song. But it was just an ad for their Super Duper Premium, or whatever they call it. I don’t believe this was offered when I originally subscribed and I was under the impression I had unlimited access; it’s definitely a bit shady to change terms after a purchase has been made; it boils down to they want another $60. This begging for more money leaves me feeling cheated. I thought I was paying for ad free and yet... That said, my kids each have free accounts and get the same songs I do, but can only do a ten minute lesson instead of the unlimited time I get. That time is perfect for them. It’s a very fun app and I do feel like I’ve learned a lot, but unfortunately I still do feel a bit cheated by Yousician and probably won’t renew their premium service.

Good intentions but bad app!. I know the guitar basics like frets picks how to hold it and that. Well the app assumes the basics include all the chords! Ok so I deleted it and chose that I knew nothing. While I was learning the basics this seemed like a very good app. I was about to write a great review about it. Around the first song I realized I was playing the write note but it said I was wrong. Sometimes I was but rarely. The times I was wrong I was around a fret off. Well according to the app I was four strings off. If you play guitar you know how diffract Hi E and low E sound so I don’t know how the app mixed those two up. So every time you finish a song it gives you a ad for the premium version of this game. It’s fine to advertise on your app but after every single thing you do is far past the breaking point! You also get only 10 minutes without premium! Imagine a guitar instructor comes to your house only for ten minutes a day. And like 24 hour day not just comes at 8 on day and 5 on the other. No it’s either 24 hours or more! Remember this is just constructive criticism. Please don’t get offended by this. Here is some advice to make the app better. First only focus on one instrument. You do a mediocre job on around 6 instruments. If you just teach one instrument then it’s mediocre X 6 which would make an amazing emphasis on amazing app so please follow my advice and again this is just constructive criticism so please don’t get offended😊

BE YOUR OWN MUSIC TEACHER. ITS WORTH IT. If you are a beginner this is the way to go. Take your time with it. I think the best thing for me was admitting I didn’t know anything about what I thought I knew about piano and just jumped right into it. Self-discipline is key. Some of the work outs are challenging and you will get frustrated but that’s okay, they’re growing pains and the fact that you did yourself is dope. A teacher would probably be worse plus it’s a only $20 a month compared to $25-75 an hour and you can learn at your own pace or choose which work out or song you want to do based on your experience. In 2 months I learned how to read music and play piano and the same time. I’m no master pianist but I no longer feel intimidated when I sit down at a piano. I plan on using this piano even after I get it down packed. I may wanna learn guitar, bass, or tighten up my vocals at some point and that’s all included when you subscribe. It’s really the best app for practicing musicians

Definitely Needs Updates. Fairly occasionally the app won’t recognize that the correct note was played, and might even say that you hit a string you didn’t touch. That was really rough when I didn’t know how any of it was supposed to sound, but could see that I was on the right string, with my finger on the right fret. It’s really discouraging when it happens in the beginning, and gets very frustrating once you’ve gotten better at playing the guitar, and know you did it right. A feature that feels necessary after a year of using the app is the option to either turn off the color coding for what fingers goes where, or have the option to change the finger positioning on the tabs. Most of the time the color coding is pretty useful, but every once in a while it makes the song a lot harder to play than it really has to be. Typically I can ignore the color coding when I don’t agree with it, but it gets more difficult when the tempo for the song gets quicker, and I’m noticing the colors fly by that’s telling me that my pointer finger should be where my middle finger already is, even though doing so is more disorienting than helpful. I’ve heard that there’s some place to request for Yousician to try to add certain songs, but it would be a lot better if there was a tab for suggestions on the actual app.

Good just a few problems. This app in general is so good. There’s only a few little problems. When I play piano on this app, it tests me on notes and sometimes the microphone doesn’t work and I get really annoyed. And the other problem is the premium. I really want to get the premium but it’s 160 dollars per year (around there) and some people just can’t afford that. I know you’re trying to get money and all but I think for some people it’s too much and you should lower the price or have another choice for each week or month. If you don’t have premium, you can only practice 10 minutes each day (at least for piano).Other than those problems, it’s a really fun app. Update: okay it’s been a while and the microphone works better now but there’s one major MAJOR problem. It deleted all my progress! I’m restarting everything and I’m really annoyed. I didn’t sign out of my account or anything and it deleted my progress. I might be generous or not for giving you 3 stars. Update again: okay thank you so much for replying back to me it means a lot. I knew about the subscriptions monthly and yearly which I didn’t know you could cancel the monthly so thank you. And thank you for the new content. I will definitely change my rating.

Disappointed in Direction. I downloaded this app a few years back to learn ukulele and I loved it! There were all sorts of songs available to learn, and although lesson times were limited with the free version, it wasn’t too bad. They eventually made popular songs part of the paid version, which I didn’t mind too much because I could still learn the basics. I recently redownloaded the app to get back into the swing of playing, but I don’t think I had an account before, so I made a new one and I’m incredibly disappointed to see that now anything beyond level 1 appears to be locked. I understand this is a buissness decision but it’s incredibly frustrating to know an app I loved and was able to use for free with only certain aspects locked has decided to make the whole app basically unusable without paying. I can’t even do challenges anymore! I’m still rating three stars because from what I remember the app is a great learning tool, but I can’t help but be dissapointed in the direction the creators have chosen to take this app in.

Great Idea, Terrible Platform. I’m so frustrated with this program right now. I bought it because I like it but it’s extremely difficult to get the program to read all of your notes. I’m a 20 year guitar veteran who is going through everything to try and get all the gold stars before I advanced to the higher stuff. I first started out using my phone but the sound coming out of the phone conflicted with the sound going in the phone and cost a bunch of problems. So I started using headphones. This works great when you’re playing bass, there are rarely issues. But when playing guitar I’ve had to go as far as using a USB interface on my computer plugging the guitar directly into it and using the amp sounds within the program. However it regularly grinds to a halt like the audio engine can’t support it, even though I’m running it on a really good system that I custom built. There’s one particular exercise were in a matter how many times I hit this one particular low email it won’t register it. A succession of two emails and it just won’t register the second one like two out of three times. Making it impossible for me to get gold stars and making me very frustrated. I’m so mad at this program right now

Worth the money pays for itself in 3 lessons. I am a veteran musician (not a guitarist) I am a vocalist but I always had a guitar laying around, picked it up and learned a few chords but that’s it. Now in my 40’s I decided to pick up guitar a get serious. I know it’s late in life but thought it would be a great hobby away from my normal music and singing career. So I am now on week 2 of the premium version and I love it. I’ve had my guitar in my hands more in 2 weeks than the last 30yrs. I started at the very beginning to be sure not to miss a lesson, trick, or nuance, something I might have rushed or overlooked in the past. I am now at my level, comfort, challenges and knowledge where I left off years ago. I definitely have gotten better with all 3 levels “lead, knowledge and rhythm”. This app is fun and addicting. It keeps you motivated and interested in learning. Definitely worth the money it paid for itself 100 times over in the last 2 weeks compared to the cost of what a real teacher would’ve cost including the time, traveling, gas etc. I’ve tried a few guitar apps and this one is by far the most fun and a lot less frustrating than the others. Can’t wait to learn more. I’ll write another review in 3 months. 🤘💀🤘

So good it’s upsetting. Alright. This app is very good. It really does help you learn and become a better musician. So why did I rate this app 4 stars? I rated it a four because it’s only good for awhile. The first couple lessons are amazing bc you learn quickly and you through them quickly letting you get more lessons in your ten minute lesson times. (If you don’t have premium.) They kinda scam you a little bit. •They make the lessons easier at first •then they make them harder •then you can’t get through as many in the ten minute period •then you feel like you have to get sucked into the premium plan. But you don’t want too bc it costs a lot. It’s a really frustrating endless cycle. Regular guitar lessons can be stressful and cost more than what the premium plan would cost you. But the premium plan still adds up. But then you do another lesson and it seems like they’re just trying to challenge you because then you take a “skill test”. So what I’m saying is after awhile when the lessons get hard enough, they might not give you enough time to get through one lesson, and it makes you want to get premium. Which I understand it’s a marketing thing thats obviously working. So give your marketing person a raise, and lower your premium costs. Because this app is really good.

life changer.... ❤️ ✨. I got this app yesterday and it’s already changing my life. I’m starting to understand singing a lot better. This also gives lessons for other instruments, too, so i’m assuming that the lessons for learning the instruments are just as amazing as the singing lessons. Why do people spend all this money for other singing lessons when they can just get Yousician for free? I have a dream of becoming a singer when I grow up (I’m 10 years old so), and this is really helping me get on track. I was very lost at singing and after a few lessons in this app I feel more secure with singing. They include songs, workouts, and missions & lessons in this app and it’s amazing! They also included plenty of details for singing. I only have like 2 or 3 lessons done, I know, I’ve done barely any but I feel like this app is super good. There’s only one thing about this app that I kind of don’t like but I do understand why they did it. My complaint is how most of the songs they have to offer are for Premium+. I understand that they need money but still. 🤗 Anyway I love this app PLEASE DOWNLOAD!! 😌

Annoying bug keeps me from playing. When I first got yousician, I thought it was an amazing app and I learned how to play real fast, well in my perspective at least. Anyhow, I like being on call with people and I used to stay on call while playing in yousician, but one day an update stopped that. Basically now, anytime I try selecting a song or tuning my guitar, it says “please select an audio output” so I pick one of the following, after that it tells me that it failed. I’ve tried most of everything I could. In the end, im not able to use the app when on call, I have to end the call to play and I don’t like that. Other than this, everything is fair and amazing. I just can’t use the app as much and no longer plan on buying premium, why would I if I don’t use the app often. If I find a way around this, if it fixes, or something that allows me to use the app while on a call, I’ll gladly change my review. (Edit after response) -already contacted support after putting up this review, sadly enough after they looked into it, they said the mic won’t work with the call on, and they recommended me use the app after I’m off call... I wouldn’t be here if it was just as simple as me ending the call.

This is the best!. OMG I have wanted to play guitar for 2 years now and now I can actually play it! I have had this app for 3 days and it has literally changed my life in so many ways and all of them are good ways! It can teach you in a short amount of time I have already done 6 exercises and I think I’m ready to join a competition please get this app it is amazing and I give it 5 stars no duh! I love this app and feel like it’s perfect for anyone who needs to either let the music hold your sad and depressing feelings (me) and also people who want to start a hobbie or career I feel like the people who made this picked the right one to make, they could have chose a lot of other things but they chose music the thing that lifts people up and gives them hope when they are down music is apart of us and we wouldn’t be able to be kind and amazing people we are today without it so get Yousician the best music teacher you’ll ever have! And remember music will guid you through your way to happiness so the shorter you download it the better you will feel. Music is love.

I absolutely love this app!. I have the subscription for the guitar. When I first downloaded the app it had some glitches but since the latest update I don’t have any complaints and even when it glitched (the sound wouldn’t play at times usually if the lesson was stopped due to other activity on my phone) if I exited the app and came back it was fine. I only have praise for Yousician! This app has sooo many different helpful components. From video and lessons to songs and challenges (against other users) to charts and emails that encourage you and track your progress. All the video lessons are extremely easy to comprehend and the layout makes it extremely easy to navigate. It is super addictive!!! There are several times Ive been totally sucked in spending hours glued to the app trying to perfect a lesson to rack up gold stars. I promise you the money is beyond worth it! You cannot beat the convenience of going at your pace practicing at any time for as long as you like! There are 3 sections (knowledge, rhythm, and lead). I have completed knowledge and I’m on the 3rd level of rhythm. I love the progressive levels. Rhythm and lead each have 10 levels and knowledge has 5. The gradual build from one lesson to another is pretty much flawless. I’m definitely going to write a review when I’m finished with all 3 sections. This app is my blessing!

So so enjoyable and helpful. I can’t recommend Yousician enough. I remember when Rock Band came out I kept saying I wish someone would make something like this where you actually learn and...here it is! I’ve been playing about a year and first, it’s SO fun. Secondly, I am learning so quickly. I do ten minutes a day but usually end up puttering another 10. The people who make this app have put so much thought, care and love into the layout and lessons. I really can’t recommend enough. I have premium bc I thought I’d like to play the famous songs but actually I find I enjoy the ones yousician has a lot more - they are usually not more than two minutes or so and are very carefully composed and calibrated to help you work on really specific things and help you progress. Also a lot of them are some of my favorite tunes now - playing in the park! I still pay for premium thought bc this is a service worth paying for. You will find yourself looking forward to having a few empty moments in your day so you can mess around. Looking forward to what they keep coming up with and THANKS for making such a great app. I would like more instructional videos on exact finger placement and strumming - I think I tug a lot of my strings around and don’t know how to stop.

Best guitar app ever👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. This is the best Guitar app ever. This is an app that everyone would use it really encourages you to play more and more. I think the thing that makes it a little hard is you have to pay 30$ per month and 250$ per year to get to practice more. I mean it is kinda okay because if you get an actual teacher it is really expensive. But if you can make it a little cheaper please do😀 And again this is the best guitar app ever😀🎸🎸

It's really good, but honestly too much money.. I am addicted to this app and I really like it because I have experience playing the violin so it's really cool to learn how to play a different instrument that fits all genres. My only issue is that after one day of playing I wake eagerly trying to play this and then it says that I used up all my free time from YESTERDAY and it wouldn't let me pay. My dad recommended me the app but he also said that it sort of steals your money. Yousician please, please, please make us try to pay monthly or weekly not daily.

Love the app. I think Yousician is amazing and it really helps. The first week I learned a song and I was really good at it we i think I was😁. This app well most definitely help you improve in anything like the guitar and it also can help you to sing which I really needed help with😂 I was actually excited to go on Yousician because at the same time it feels like your playing a game. If you want to get better at what you are learning I most definitely recommend this app

Few issues. I’m loving this app! It’s helping me progress with my ukulele so well! The only issue is, the lesson time will run out whenever it wants to. For example, on Monday, it let me have a 26 minute lesson, on Tuesday it let me have 13 minute lesson, on Wednesday it let me have a 15 minute lesson and today I was only allowed to play for 11 minutes. I’ve tried everything but nothing is seeming to work. Please fix this feature as I think this app is superb otherwise. The patchy time lesson lengths are really frustrating as I want to have an hour lesson, but I just can’t. Please fix this :(

More famous songs and sound problems. I ended up being forced to buy premium because it was difficult to learn on only a half hour a day the songs are good but mabey include some newer songs Also the app keeps saying it can’t hear me I am playing electric guitar with amp and it is almost full blast yet the app still can’t here me I play in a quiet room I do love this app but pls fix the sound problems

A really good "learn guitar" app. This app works well. It does what it says on the can and teaches guitar interactively. It can be a little difficult to set up you system, which is more a function of guitars, iRigs etc. and is not really a fault of the app. Supports acoustic with any extra extra gear, you do need a reasonable mic on your PC or an iPad etc. Try for free, and if you like buy the full version, it'll be money well spent (especially compared to guitar lessons!).

Rip off / Appalling Customer service. I have trialed the guitar version of the App and decided I’ll subscribe. Somehow, I got subscribed to the most expensive premium plus package they offer that includes all the instruments and some extras while I was only interested in guitar. On the top of that I got charged for one year subscription all at once. While I recognize I must have confirmed all these option, you can tell the subscription process is already designed to mislead you into spending as much as possible. I have realized my mistake immediately after receiving confirmation email and turned to customer support to help me amend my subscription to the one I intended to get. CS rep would wave me away stating that since I have bought through apple platform there is nothing they can do which I find unacceptable. You own the product, you own the experience, you are responsible. There is no option to cancel/refund with Apple.

Love this app to bits. I wanted to learn guitar, and tried out various options. I vacillated but found myself consistently coming back to Yousician. I thought about why and realised that it was balance. It has video lessons like many other apps, but also it listens to your play and tempo to provide instant feedback, and the gamification makes it fun. It’s not a gimmick. It’s a learning system that gets to the heart of how people enjoy improving their skills. Anyway, after signing up on premium+ plan, I had these other instruments that I wasn’t interested. But heck, I fired up the bass and singing app, just for kicks. Now I also own a bass (and am loving it) and blasting out the songs with my voice to boot. Absolutely loving this system. Highly recommended.

My bass guitar teacher, yousician!. Tbh, I was meaning to cancel after 7day trial but I forgot to cancel and I was charged $179 for a year. But, Im really enjoying the songs (e.g. Dream on and Zombie) and love the game like system which make the sesh more fun and engaging. Love how it has a tuner feature, too! Also, I wouldve had to pay $60ph for an actual guitar lesson so I think it’s not that expensive. What’s more, I can try the piano, ukulele and singing as well! My friend covered his ears when I was trying singing practices so I think I will stick to the bass guitar only for now. Keep it up! Xx

Rating Yousician. I think that Yousician is a great app for many different people to learn many different instruments and new ways to play. Myself personally is using Yousician to learn how to play the acoustic. Yousician has showed me many new ways and techniques to play the acoustic. All around Yousician is a really great app and if they are new to playing the instruments they have they should download Yousician because it helped me and it will help you as well

Amazing. I really wanted to learn the piano, so I downloaded simply piano, that didn’t turn out though since the app didn’t mention anything about paying 🥺, so I searched for piano apps, and when I found this one it was perfect! I could even learn singing to so I could do both, and this time it gave me the Choice to play a free song instead, Thank you so much.

Great app but premium is expensive. It’s a good app to learn to play a instrument, the lessons go at a pace anyone could follow. If you can already play an instrument you will find the lessons to slow. The only reasons I didn’t give the app 5 stars is because premium is so expensive. It costs about twice as much as a Netflix subscription. Also the free version is very restrictive and the app constantly bugs you to upgrade, on the free version you can only practice for about 10 minutes a day. Having said that a lot of work has gone into the app, so if you are serious about learning a new instrument quickly, premium might be worth it for you.

Honestly a great app, despite the subscription fee. I just started using this yesterday but I already love it. It has a great in-app tuner, great lessons, a scoring system and playing each song seriously makes it feel like a video game. If you can fork out a little bit for the subscription, I’d say it’s worth it. Pricing really isn’t that bad tbh and they have some good plans. Do recommend.

A musician's finest instrument. i was gonna write a fancy review but this app is too good for words. definite buy. good job yousician. congration on being good app 10/10. I use it everyday and my skills have actually gotten twice as good in the past 3 days. I can play without looking at the neck or frets, and I now know some really cool bass lines. This app does have a premium version, but the free version has a 30 minute lesson complete with everything you get in the premium.

Fun app to start. As a beginner guitarist I used the free time lessons to see if I would enjoy it. Well I did! However after signing up for 2 x 3 mths I was finding I was playing the same tunes over and over with not a lot of new songs being added, so of course boredom set in, my family were sick of hearing the same stuff so I unsubscribed. I have learnt a lot and improved out of sight but I seem to be stuck somewhere between level 4 and 5 with not a lot of music choice I enjoy. So I have moved on to another site which is a also a lot easier on my pocket, hoping to gain skills on a wider range of songs to get me moving to a higher level of competence. Thanks Yousician for your input. If you could manage to get access to newer playlists and keep adding songs more often that would suit my level I would definitely consider returning.

AMAZING!!!. I absolutely love this app, last year I decided I wanted to learn Guitar and Ukulele, at first it gets pretty hard but now I can play a variety of songs with proper technique. There are even different courses by other people, to get more tips and tricks. If you are super serious about the instrument you are playing then I 100% recommend Yousician Premium (which I have and it is amazing). Thanks for reading xx

Focusing on mainly the guitar part of this app. I found this app extremely unhelpful in further developing my guitar skills. The system is not functional the majority of the time and I felt there was an extreme lack of diversity in song difficulty. From what I could gather by tinkering with this app for a good while it lacks anything useful for experienced players or even people who have been taking lessons or teaching them selves for a year or two. And I do know this apps purpose is for beginners the majority of the time, but with such A high rating I would have thought there would be something for experienced or even average players

Ripped Off. Was having a great time using the Yousician app to learn the bass. I decided it was worth paying for about 6 months ago this year and upgraded to premium for 12 months. This gave me access to ALL of the app features. Unlimited lesson time and access to “World famous” songs by Green day, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Sting and 21 Pilots(just to name a few). The developers of the app ran into copyright issues and were no longer able to use “World famous” songs and songs from bands above were removed. My interest in the app definitely decreased a lot. Because of the copyright issues the developers have re-modelled this app and managed to get the rights to some “World famous songs” again(a handful). Due to this they expect me to pay(AGAIN) to upgrade to premium despite the fact I was ALREADY on a premium service with FULL access. Instead of working something out have been told to get a refund from the iStore. Definitely about to lose a customer forever. You can’t replace a real teacher at any rate and I’m happy to print out tab and play along to YouTube(Will cost me nothing). Very disappointed.

Good for a semi-beginner for Learning Music Theory. I started learning guitar about 6 months ago. Rocksmith 2014 caught my eye on steam so I got a cheap beginner guitar kit and started learning. I’ve been playing on and off with Rocksmith 2014 and online videos but I’ve since hit a wall. Rocksmith has tutorial videos but they’re not very in depth and skim over some of the technique topics. Starting from scratch with yousician has allowed me to find (and mostly fix) some bad habits. Also some of the songs are really fun to learn to play. The bass and piano courses seem pretty good too but I haven’t really gone too far with those yet. I’ll be continuing with yousician+ after the trial ends.

Loving Yousician. I'm quite methodical and Yousician is really helping me to learn guitar faster than when I was doing it on my own. It's fun and challenging but it's also really easy to follow and I love getting the certificates for completing tasks. I'm just using the free version and the ads can get annoying. I can't afford the full version, it's just too much at $179 a year. I reckon if they made it cheaper, loads more people would buy and they'd end up with just as much dosh.

Great coordination platform. What a great way to learn coordination and songs at the same time I'm a self taught guitarist that only just starting to pick it up again to teach my son this platform is going to help him along his way and it's fun as well cheers guys but I do think the price is a little steep seeing that without the guitar hero type vibe you's have got going on you can source all of this music for free off the Internet I think if you had a price set for say the same as your annual charge for unlimited use for your life time you'd get far more people signing up and make more money that's the only thing I'm not happy with about the program cheers.

Fantastic daily practice tool. I started playing the guitar 15 years ago, learned to play a bunch of songs while I was taking lessons at school but never really grasped theories of composition and improvisation. After a few years’ lapse in playing, I have come back with a new energy - largely thanks to Yousician! It’s been great so far even just for letting me know how much I do actually know, and what areas need improvement. It’s been awesome for working on my ability to play in time, to sight-read tabs and as a daily practice tool for getting used to scale shapes and training my ears. So I’d recommend Yousician to anybody at all - but especially those like me who need a bit of guidance to get out of a rut. Set yourself some goals, and start practicing TODAY! :)

10 mins a DAY!. I am appalled at this app. I read the reviews but i thought “ i’ll just get premium and it’ll be fine. It’ll only cost me a couple dollars a month”. NOPE! This app costs me $44 a month! I wouldn’t settle for $44 a year! So i decided to calm down and just do 10 mins a day. I wake up the next day and grab my ukulele ready to begin and it says I’ve already completed my 10 mins. UGH! 😑 again i decided to calm down and try out the singing feature. But it said i did 10 Mins already too! 10 mins a day for all instruments! This app is not trying to help you with your skills. It just wants your money. I am for sure deleting this app unless you cut down the price on premium.

Great guitar learning app. This app is very useful to learn lead, rhythm and some theory. Great for practice, easy to use and addictive. If you are plateauing from books or face to face lessons its definitely worth a try. Whilst pricey I think it will be cheaper than a years lessons... and you can use it as often as you want. Also try Rocksmith. Another great learning tool on computer/PlayStation. But I do think Yousician is beating Rocksmith for my learning development.

Awesome!!!. Yousician is a really easy and quick way to learn music! I love the fact that you can take different courses of learning on one instrument and I also find it really cool that you can get reminders for lessons. Yousician is also really good because it’s not one of those apps where you can barely learn anything without premium. Of course there is limitations if you don’t have the premium version but you can still get a great lesson without it!!! Zoe xoxo

Loving it! - Just a bit glitchy at times. It’s been an amazing month going from not knowing the correct way to even hold a guitar to knowing enough chords to play the chords of many of my favourite songs. I love that the app integrates with my headphones and tells me when I’m doing things wrong. The only thing I have to fault is the startup time. Every time I use the app it crashes 3-4 times before it actually lets me practice. This can sometimes take upwards of 10 minutes to troubleshoot which is frustrating but once I figure out how to stop that happening I will be sold forever!

Record notes properly!. I use this app to practice my guitar skills, all my actually learning is with JustinGuitar (which I recommend immensely). Firstly, the song choice is limited to trashy pop and Yousician’s original songs. Secondly, it won’t record my notes properly, leaving me frustrated. Especially in the song Birds of Steel, when I pluck the string on Fret 3, the app acts like it hears nothing. The app is riddled with ads and wants you to pay to learn guitar. I already learned 1,000 something to get the guitar, should I really have to pay more? I recommend JustinGuitar if you actually want to learn anything. However the gamification of it is nice I supposed and it has good song choice and variety for premium users. So I’ll give it about 2/10 stars.

Enjoyable but needs some work.. I’m having fun with the app but there are still a few glitches that frustrate me. About half or two thirds of the time the app does not register the chord I am playing when it is correct. I’ve tried lowering the volume and playing with headphones and find that neither works as well as it should. The payment option for premium is also a bit out of whack. Why is it a yearly subscription and not a monthly one if you can cancel any time? If it was monthly I may consider joining but that does not appear to be an option. It would also be better if the My Repertoire section was unlimited use. The lessons each day do not give anyone time enough to master before time is up.

SCAM APP. I cancelled my subscription the same day I subscribed with a free trial (app wasn’t what I wanted). A few days later they tried to charge my account $179, twice! I got a call from my banks scam department (thank god) who informed me they had blocked two attempts that this app tried to make to charge me. I had to cancel my card & order a new one! My bank told me this app is on their scam/untrusted list, which is what alerted them to block the attempted charges, and notify me. This is not a trusted app, my bank told me they are very sneaky and will try to “get you” any way they can, even after you’ve cancelled your subscription within the proper time frame. You’ve been warned. Don’t download this app.

An excellent music learning platform. I started to use Yousician almost 2 years ago. No prior experience in guitar. For about a year this was my primary practice base and over the last year, although I am using other learning material, I have often come back to Yousician to continue my progression. This app is relatively expensive but takes you almost 3/4 of the way when compared to what you would learn from a good music teacher. Where you still need to look elsewhere is improving your technique. Overall I am very happy and recommend it to all serious music enthusiasts who do not have access to or cannot afford a music teacher. Well done to Yousician team.

great but too technical. Really great app for beginners. I started a one month subscription and so far I learned a lot and it is truly interactive! But after a month I lost interest as there was not much content and a lot of the songs were not mainstream. I just hope this app will bring in more content and more famous songs like metallica, nirvana, kiss, etc. I felt the exercises were becoming too technical and mechanical rather than bring excitement and inspiration. I ended up just following the tabs and lessons and not ‘feeling’ the songs. Oh well…i was just disappointed..but the idea of the app really is great

Hear me out. The only reason I put it as full stars is because hopefully this’ll get seen by other people. I was trying at the for 2 years and I couldn’t pass the beginner stage. I was playing the correct chords strumming and fretting the way they taught me but each time I would play it in a song the microphone wouldn’t pick up what I’m playing. You would think it’s the device I’m using? Wrong I used simply guitar and it taught me way better and gave me actual feedback to what I’m playing, Unlike Yousician which will say each time I get a chord wrong or don’t play it correctly it’ll simply say: “Play the Chord” . Overall this app only has old country songs and no new songs that have been released since 2020.

Great for people who can’t get a guitar. I love this app! So I live in a small country town and I can’t get a teacher. So my guitar was sitting around and I was on and off playing it. I used other guitar apps in the past but they were only cord ones and didn’t give you lessons. So when I downloaded guitar tuna I got the ad of this, Yousician. It helped a lot and got me to be more persistent and determined to play the instrument. I also like how u can do the practice mode with different speeds and the rang of songs. I just love it and the effort you put into it shows like the homemade songs. One of them (conquer the galaxy) is my favourite and it seems to be a real song. Love it it seems like your actually playing with someone in the room!

Amazing even without premium!. I’m too poor to afford the premium let alone the premium plus but this app is amazing! Even with the free section I get 10 minute lessons a day and that’s all I’ve needed to teach myself 10+ songs within the first two days along with learning tabs off google. I play my 10 free minutes every night to keep learning! I’ve had my ukulele sitting on my floor tried picking it up before with just google and it was too hard! This app I can’t recommend enough!

Great app for learning a variety of instruments. I used the free version of Yousician for a while then decided to buy the full package. My daughter uses piano and voice, I use guitar. It took me a little while to get the hang of navigating the guitar component, but it’s been very useful and my playing has really improved. The tutorials are easy to understand and I love this app’s ability to listen to me playing and provide real time feedback on whether I’m playing the correct notes and cords. I also love being able to adjust the speed of the song I’m playing as well as the option to display the note letters I’m playing . This is so important as a beginner and no other app can do that. I’ve used a few guitar apps and this is the best one. The only limits are the song selection and that’s more a licensing agreement. In Australia we are limited but if you use a VPN and disguise your location you can access more songs.

Free version very limited, premium very $$$. The app now limits free users to 10 minutes a day and that comes with four strident ads about upgrading. I don't even know what currency they mean in their ads - is it in US$ because if so it's even more expensive than I'm guessing. I don't mind paying something for content but there is no option for people on low incomes. How about some plans where you can buy hours on the app like a phone plan? Then you could buy a few hours here and there when you could afford it. All this time limiting and strident ads are making this app less and less appealing. Plus a lot of the free content is quite dull - not enough instructional videos and confusing songs without clear beats to play along to - and I don't know if it's less dull for the premium version. If they can't get the free content right then it's not a great ad for the app. I'd try the free month but I'm scared they would charge me before I'd managed to cancel and I don't have the money.

Not bad. I would say this is real good...BUT (There is always that pesky “but”) Sometimes only sometimes, it just doesn’t hear you even though you’re playing loud and clear so it marks it as red. 😢 all I am saying is that I would recommend if you could edit the app so we can hear you clearer than what it is now. I microphone seems okay and I did not change it to disabled so I reckon that maybe the app has the problem. Other than this case I think it is. It has help me with my ukulele so much and I have learnt a lot much more than my friends at the very least! The instrument that I was playing was the ukulele.

Love it, only problem is a small bug that can be fixed. I truly love this app, I only use the free version. It is fun and easy to use and is very much like a game. The reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is because there seems to be a bug that doesn’t always give me my whole lesson and has definitely not been 10 minutes. I practice all of the instruments except base so I’m unsure if the bug happens after I change instruments or just in general but for me at least it’s when I change over. Apart from that the app is amazing

You won’t regret it!. I love this app! I get super bored of it everything but this app has kept my attention for weeks now and I look forward to playing it every day. I love the lesson paths, they’re easy to follow and I love how the app motivates you to keep playing with challenges and rewards. Your fingers will hurt but it’s so engaging you actually push on through! Unlike other teaching tools I’ve tried.

I am no longer “treading water”.. I was trying to be a self taught beginner and I was starting to lose interest in learning guitar. Yousician has reinvigorated me and made learning interesting and fun. I have just started and I am enjoying the lessons and playing along with tunes and songs. Learning sequentially, getting feedback and enjoying the process is motivating. Thoroughly recommend this app.

Awesome awesome awesome.. I really really like Yousician because I’m able to redevelop my old skills. It has so many different options so I can not only learn to multitask but also to sight read which is what I really wanted to get out of the app. It is annoying being reminded about premium over and over again but I understand why they do it. If you want to learn a new instrument and then also learn to sight read, this is definitely the app for you.

This app doesn’t deserve one star.. Okay, so I downloaded this app last year and after trialing it for a while, I decided to get a one year subscription. Anyways, so all is well, I’m using the app every day and my guitar skills are really improving! Then, after a few months of using the app (about four months) I went on holiday and kind of stopped playing for a while. Then, just yesterday I picked up my guitar again and decided to try it out again, so I open the app and I’m excited because they have all these new songs. But they’re on premium? Which is weird because it says I can’t access it because I don’t have a premium account- but I do, I bought the subscription only a couple months back? So now it says I don’t have a premium account even though I should have another 3-4 months of premium access AT LEAST. TLDR: This app ripped me off, and won’t give me the 3 months of premium subscription I payed for.

No, just no!. So I first found this app, decided to download it, then started the trial for piano. After a while, I decided to get a 1 year subscription, then I was too busy for this app anymore thinking I’ll get to it when I had time. So one day I did. I opened the app ready to start playing and then the starter screen when you first download the app was there! I was furious. But my hopes weren’t down enough to stop using it. I thought “maybe I’ll just start the trial again..won’t be that bad!” Then I entered my email and it said “this email is already taken. That was it for me! I just wanted to smash my iPad into pieces! I wasted my money, time and EFFORT! Whoever’s looking forward to downloading this, I suggest you now to.

One suggestion….. Yousician is a great app, it is teaching me how to play amazingly! There’s just 2 small problems with the guitar lessons. 1, I feel like it went from really easy to really hard within one lesson. I don’t know about anyone else but I found riffs quite difficult and I feel you could have taught them better. 2, I felt like I needed some sort of motivation to keep learning. I get that you tried to do the 10 mins a day thing but for me that really didn’t. Otherwise this is a great app and I would recommend for most.

Amazing for beginners!. After trial and error with many other apps, I decided to try Yousician. I was playing acoustic guitar at that point, and I learnt more in my first week of using this app than I did in a month trying to teach myself with other apps. It’s great for those who don’t have a lot of money to splash on subscriptions, too- while there is a premium option, the free content is more than enough to teach you the fundamentals. I’m now playing bass guitar, and it was easy to switch to that path within the app, and while I’m mostly teaching myself through other means now, Yousician is still my go-to when I need to get the hang of something tricky or tune my bass- the in-app tuner is also great, for both acoustic and bass guitars. I would 100 % recommend this app for beginner players, especially those who don’t have enough money to pay for subscriptions.

I don’t get how it got so bad?. I started learning guitar on this app around 1 year ago. It really did help me learn guitar skills. Back when I first got it you could play pretty much any song, but then an update happened where all the popular songs were gone. And all the songs that I had saved to learn were gone. At first it was fine, I was a little angry but it was fine. Then the new update came where I was so excited to see all my favourite popular songs were back. They all said premium next to them which I had so I was so happy. I then found out you had to have premium+ for the songs... this was disappointing as I only am learning guitar so why would I pay $280 for instruments that I am not learning? I would like to think there will be an option soon for all songs for one instrument.

Stay Tuned. Just started on guitar.... after 20years since my last try this app is great. I now have my head on the neck and it’s actually no fret!!! This site is awwwsummmm..... cheers for all your hard work on this site. I practice workouts and trainers for bout an hour each day or more but I’m not pushing myself. Just playing until a certain moment in time, then I practice the first song I’m learning, APACHE by The Shadows. I’m on acoustic but it will be a most perfect rendition, I’m giving myself a year to learn it. Cheers YOUSICIAN.... you guys rock!!! Don’t forget....stay tuned!!!

Amazing & some song recommendations. Hay! I’m Ella, and last year I got my first acoustic guitar, I played the free trial until it ended and I was OBSESSED! So I got into instrumental at my high school, that was when I started playing bass (guitar) and it wasn’t going well, so I re-downloaded Yousician and played the trail for bass for 3 days, I ended up getting the 3 month trial, I LOVE IT, 12 years old 3 months of getting no progress, until I downloaded it, I have had the trail for a day and already know 4 songs , I highly recommend this! Could you put some deep purple songs on here pleaseee PS I love the song yellow😍

Awesome! I can read & play music now after 25 years. Seriously, as a self taught musician, I can play piano, guitar, mandolin & Ukelele chords by ear, give me a song, any song I can find the chords and play it, but put a sheet of music in front of me and I'm a baby, can't read or play it, UNTIL NOW. Thank you Youisian, you've taken that darkness and stress away from my love of music, even though I'm only just starting out with this program, I'm already understanding the notes I'm looking at, that's never happened before and I worked in the music industry for over 25 years, even went to a couple of piano teachers with no results. Can't wait to start learning my other instruments all over again. 👍👍👍👍👍

Love the app, but prices are ridiculous. I really liked this game tbh, I wanted to play the guitar and thanks to this app I could learn frets and chords smoothly, I like everything in this game..... except for the prices for premium and premium+ because of expensive and ridiculous prices and $43 for just a month and it also limits your time to 10 mins when I want to learn for nearly an hour or longer, other than that great game; also Maybe make the time limit longer.

I hate this app. The reason I hate this app is because when I play my use in right tune it is red

Won’t pick up on sounds. Won’t pick up on my high e chord and refuses to hear it

Definitely recommend to others. Not only is it free, but it covers everything you need to know about the guitar. A must if you need to learn the guitar.

TERRIBLE APP. Terrible when I click on the how to play video it just loads I’m at an area with really good wifi and it just doesn’t let me watch the video. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Stupid. It doesn’t really teach you notes which is what I am trying to learn it’s more about riffs and that which is stupid it should focus on the notes more cuz without notes there wouldn’t be music

Yes, it costs money. Yes, it’s worth it. If you go the lead guitar path. Edit: Had to take a star off of this. If you’re doing the lead guitar path it’s great. Lots of fun and you feel like you’re making good progress. Not the case for rhythm guitar. Trying to nail gold stars with the crappy chord-detection is infuriating. When you nail a chord and it says you missed it, you’ll eventually want to chuck your iPad across the room. Old review: I don’t get people rating this app one star because of the subscription fee. Yes, you have to pay for it. But holy cow, the amount of content is actually a steal. Annual sub gives you access to guitar, bass, piano, vocals and even freaking ukulele! I’ve been messing around with guitar since 1989 but thanks to Yousician I’m actually practicing daily and my picking speed and accuracy is finally getting to where I always wanted it to be. I highly recommend it. And it is WAY cheaper than paying for weekly lessons. As good? Debatable. But if you’re on a budget this is a great way to have fun while practicing and to get into a regular cadence of playing.

It sucks. You basically can’t play any song unless you pay

Steals your money. Cancelled my free trial but charge me anyways. Took $199 on my card and when i was trying to use the app it doesn’t work as I expected to. Very disappointing.

Yeah Ok. 27 bucks a month yeah right maybe a one time payment! Way over priced for a rip off of Rocksmith

Worst game ever. Why dose every game I try to learn to play songs cause it says learn you favourite songs for free you have to pay for a membership I don’t recommend for someone who can’t afford it like me

This app is all right just make the beginning a bit easier. Also You made me hate guitar and the entire ready of it

Cost 160-250$ per year. You won’t have a free trial unless you subscribe to a plan from 160$ to 250$ per year. I never found a way to just try it without subscription.

Déception totale. Cette application est vraiment nulle sérieusement je suis vraiment déçue

Trash. It dose not work it won’t listen to u very well this is a joke

Amazing. This app taught me everything I needed to learn about guitar

Stole my money!!. I canceled my three month subscription after it renewed and so it was still good until feb 21.2021. When I loaded the app it gave me a offer to renew a full year at a discounted price. Saying it wouldn’t charge my card until my current three month subscription ran out. Instead it charged me instantly.

Sucks so hard. This app has a “free session” of frickin 10 mins a day, which is complete bull[insert_here]. Get a real music teacher instead of this crappy app trying SO HARD to get money from you by paying 150CAD a year for a subscription that doesn’t even allow user created content. For that u need to pay another 70$ making it a 220CAD subscription. Total bullcrap. I can compare Yousician to Disney now cuz all they want is money and nothing else. The devs of Yousician can go to hell along with these outrageous subscription prices.

Disappointed. This app sucks

Super fair price imo. The app is great! Looks good, easy to follow, great instruction, really great follow up support, it does seem like a big price to pay at first until you factor in that lessons are $32/ week cad for 30 min sessions ( where I am) so the $16/ month or so seems like a drop in the bucket! I like that is sends me weekly progress reports and daily congratulations when I hit my goal! I’m still brand new at guitar but I’m seeing progress and can see the Value in this app! 10/10 would recommend if you were thinking about learning how to play :)

Review. Glad there is no ads and the free versions is great but instead of buying premium to gets good song I like try making me watch an ad or two, your still making money. And with premium obviously no ads.

Premium Fee Predator. This app automatically charges a premium service to your CC after the ‘free test’ is complete and you wake up with an $80+ charge for a service that you will not use. They do not send out an email warning the potential user of this fee and run it through. I find this practice to be particularly predatory and not fair. I’ll change this review when they refund my money. - Sam

Tuner not recognizing. I just started with this app. In the tuner thingy, it can’t recognize my string. It says that my string 4 is my string 5. I don’t know what to do as this is my first day with guitar. Please help me 🙏

Not worth your time. They say it’s free it’s not you have to pay if you want to learn more about playing the guitar. Also it’s not cheap 40.00 a mounts you can go on YouTube for Free and learn.

Don’t. I got worse than i was. It’s way to much money for an app that didn’t seem to be working nor helping me. Overall i had high expectations but this app just sucked. Your better off with a real music teacher

Note troubles. Everything was good but then I was messing around with my tuning thingy and now it won't recognize my high E.

Works. Love learning the guitar with Yousician!

It's GREAT. It works sooooooo well. I've learned so much. Thanks so much😜!

Too costly. This app might be good but only when they let me explore it which they don’t, they just keep asking for hundreds of dollars

Good then bad to worse. First it was very fun but in 2 days I stoped playing because I only got 20 min for free trial

Great. it's great and it has really helped me

Ehhh. When I was trying to tune my second string on my guitar it kept saying it was one or three

Worst. Worst app ever! It says it’s free every day! You only get ten minutes a day! You have to pay tones of money for the real thing! Do not get this dumb app.

Unbelievably dishonest. At first, Yousician was great. Easy to use, fun, and with great community. The yearly sub for one instrument was pricey ($150 CAD), but I committed to using it daily to get the value. However, once the company realized the most popular feature was the user created content, they removed all of it under the auspices of some “new features” they wanted to implement. Turns out this was their own version of the same content, and now requires a “Premium+” membership to use. And that is another $100. Truly unbelievable. I would strongly encourage all current users to write reviews and rate accordingly, and anyone thinking of getting Yousician to avoid it like the plague. Sad to see such a promising app get killed by a company trying to screw people over.

Not enough session time. 😡

Code: Yosway. The app is good but it’s just little expensive for some people. They should lower the cost price. That’s all. Also, use code: Yosway in the Fortnite item shop #ad. (It will triple ur Edit speed 100% confirmed)

Amazing. You learn SOO much so fast and after 10 minutes of useing this i already learned 3 songs! Would recommend

Stupid app. I can just play 4 songs and it cost too much just for that Don’t download this dump app😤

Disappointed. Signed up for the free version. Started learning an was hit with two ads in about 5 minutes time trying to sell me the $199.99 subscription. Nothing free about this. Probably would have signed on if they had been less pushy and offered more an intro. It does look like a promising app. Also not signing up for that free month. I know how hard it can be to get those cancelled.

Meh. Its ok but it can be really frustrating when they don’t explain what I have to do...

Love this app. Only wish i could pay monthly ..a year is too much at once... so im still using the free version

It’s is broken. I am stuck on the frets and if I play the 5 string it says it’s the 6string this app is terrible

Hmmmm. They have hidden fees which is fine, but my problem was I had headphones on, didn’t have the guitar in hand just yet wanted to review the notes so I expected all the notes to go red as if I missed it, some were hit which is bothersome how accurate is it if that happens?? For a 169.99 I was hoping it would be way more accurate then that. Fender Play is another option.

I’ve loved this app easy and help me. This app is great for new players who are trying to get into playing guitar but I’ve been having a problem with this app when it wants me to tune my guitar it’s saying I’m hitting the wrong string even though I’m not so either update this app to fix it or do something else it’s really annoying

Free trial cost me $100..... Cancelled my free trial before the end date, charged for 3 months anyway. Apple won’t refund my money as cancelling before end date isn’t a good enough reason for a refund.... Thanks for stealing my money!

Not ACTUALLY free. You used to get a free allotted time slot each 24 hours for a smooth learning experience. Now, you get a free 10 min or slightly more session in which you can progress as far as you’d like but after that to progress ANY further you HAVE to buy the subscription. Which is just pointless. It’s a free app sure. But the services are heavily priced at a ridiculous mark up. Trash app, use Justin guitars online for an actual FREE learning experience. This isn’t the app it once was. Greed infects all those who touch it. Or so it seems.

Like Guitar Hero with a Real Guitar. I love it! So easy and fun. I took the 7 day trial. I’ve been playing for more than 2 hours a day. Almost addictive. Only down side, I wish we could play offline..

Used to be reasonable. The price of this app has increased to over 200 a year!! Are you kidding? It’s an app! Good content but still, I’m not using this anymore because of the steep price

I hate it. It does not for ukulele

Don’t buy unless you’re rich!. The free version totally sucks, you can only do lessons and songs for 10 minutes a day which is not nearly enough to actually learn anything and there’s no way I’m spending 200$ a year for premium. Unless you’re Mark Zuckerberg and can actually afford to pay $200 a year on a stupid app, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Deceptive ad. Good luck on the advertised free app. It will not get you anywhere. And I hope they fooled so many subscribers as the ads is not just non-stop and annoying that I decided I will never give them money as I even should be paid for the annoying over and over ads everywhere; like everywhere!

Didn’t help me learn. I got a guitar and I wanted to learn how to play but the book did not help at all so I went to look for a good app that would teach me so I went on this app and saw the reviews and I got so excited. When I went in the app it kept on telling me I should buy premium and I obviously didn’t want to spend that type of money so I didn’t. So I’m trying to learn notes and songs and they only put numbers on the types so I don’t know what the strings are. Anyway I wanted to learn notes but all they did was had me play a song and I was doing the right strings but it said I was wrong so I got mad and stopped playing for a second and it said I played the string perfect and I got so confused so I went off and I wanted to play a song then that add came up again so I went off and I decided to go on another lesson but nothing showed me notes and stings. I do not recommend this app at all it is no help and there are to many adds for premium so you can get it if you want to buy it but I think it’s a waste. I would prefer if you had one stick to the book.

One of the best apps I’ve ever used. I rediscovered my love for playing guitar through this app. Before, I was in a rut from not knowing what to play or do when I sat down to practice. Since using yousician however, I haven’t had this problem. It gives me plenty to work on every day, for as much as I want. Plus, with the love feedback and data it tracks, I’m able to see my progress (I’d love to see more analytics in future releases). The songs are varied, unique, and provide great foundation for playing more advanced songs you actually care about. My absolute favorite feature is the practice mode. You can slow down the tempo of anything you’re working on, to literally any speed, then yousician will automatically increase or decrease the tempo based on how well you perform. This app is well worth the money I paid for it. Stick with it, and you’ll get great returns on your investment (fun, guitar skills, and anything else that comes from playing).

I wish there was better feedback. I have the subscription, and I quite like the app, but I’m finding the feedback system frustrating. When you get a note and it turns green, it gives you a tiny little word to tell you “late”, “early”, “great” or “perfect!” Which I can only read on the base clef because they appear on the blue background and not the white, and only if I lean WAY in. I would like that feedback to be someplace I can always read it. Maybe even in a larger font. More frustrating (I have rage quit a few times because of this) when you miss a note there is no feedback at all. It’s just red. I can’t tell if it’s because it didn’t hear the right note, or if I was too late or too early. If nothing else I would like that to be changed. Otherwise this app is worth 5 stars. I love the lessons and the different tracks you can take. Even the goofy songs to help you remember stuff like sharps go up and flats go down.

Thank you.

10 minutes is buggy and frustrating. In order to actually learn an instrument, there is an initial novice hump where confidence is low. This application shouldn’t offer a free version because it’s demotivating and frustrating. Even while trying to sample the 10 minute timer, it interrupts after every step in a lesson and click to present the premium sales ad, which must be viewed for a mandatory 20 seconds. You end up with ~6 minutes of the 10 free per day available to actually review the material. And even then on some days it doesn’t recognize that 10 minutes have reset. I just opened it, the main screen showed 0/10 used, and then went to resume a lesson I didn’t finish yesterday (again, because timer ran out) and it said I was out of time, and it jumped to 10/10 again. I’ve had several days where this has occurred. I actually considered picking up the app during the half off sale at Black Friday, and right now willing to wait for another half off. The app itself, sans the constant used car level sales nagging, is pretty good, but I haven’t seen enough to form an opinion because it locks me into the constant sales mode.

No more regrets for never learning piano. I have used Yousician every day for almost a year. I have found their very simple reward system and leveling up to be great motivators to practice and hone skills. I'm really impressed with my ability so far to casually play piano along with popular songs on the radio. I'm sure you could start from scratch with this app, but I do believe my years of previous music lessons (not piano) helped me speed through lower levels quicker which greatly reduced any frustration I might have experienced. My only musical issue is that I believe the method of following along and playing to a song cheats the actual learned ability to read rhythm. I need outside practice for learning to better read rhythm, but that's a small issue because lots of practice is necessary regardless. Other than that, this app is terrific and well worth its price!

Worth it!. If you’re looking to learn and self teaching just isn’t working for you then this app is a great tool. I’m using it for guitar and if I’m being honest this isn’t my first time trying yousician. I think the problem initially was that my fingers couldn’t keep up with my desire to practice. They would hurt too much and so I wasn’t pressing down on the strings hard enough. This lead to me not playing to chords or strings correctly and I blamed the app undeservingly. It not only explains the information very clearly but also is extremely helpful with getting you to play daily and more often. Its a great tool to get you the basics, practice, accuracy, and dexterity you need to aid in your own self teaching. After just two days of using the app i noticed my play and chord transition was much better on the songs I was self teaching myself. Check it out!

Best Teacher Ever. I recommend this app to anyone trying to learn guitar. I’ve taken guitar lessons from 2 separate teachers over the years and was unable to really learn how to play. I had given up trying. My guitar sat under my bed for years until I found this app and dusted off my LP. Within weeks of using the free version I learned more than I had ever learned taking lessons. (Maybe I had bad teachers) but I paid for those lessons! Initially I was hesitant about the annual price. When you break it down it’s approximately 1-2 months what you’d pay taking lessons from a “teacher”. It sounds silly but this app changed my life. I’ve always dreamed of playing guitar but thought it was impossible. I now play weekly in my church worship band. I’m not great but consider myself a very competent guitarist. Been using the paid version for about 3 years. I absolutely love it and would recommend to anyone!

Nice app... but needs some adjustments.. I would truly love to give this app a five-star rating... but there are a few things that are just average. Don't get me wrong, I have learned some singing with this app, but the things that you don't have to pay for are kind of boring basics. I love to sing and barely know any of the vocab and things for it, but even I already knew these things. Also, the people that sing with you for the tutorials kind of get on my nerves... they have very average and choppy, non-fluent voices. The man and the woman aren't good at harmonizing in a smooth way that flows. It's very I know that's not the point of the tutorials, but still, in my opinion I don't find it pleasant. Also, the songs are kind of dumb, repetitive, and boring. I'm sorry, I don't want to be rude or mean in any way. I just want to speak truth. This is a good app, it just needs some work. Thank you! 😁(for those who love this app, these are just my opinions.)

Has issues. When I first started using this app I thought it would be a good way of learning the guitar on top of already taking lessons in person with someone. But there are a lot of issues in my opinion, the biggest one being, it doesn’t even teach you real music!!!!!! Instead of there being notes there are numbers. It teaches you how to play a song, but it doesn’t teach you about what you are actually playing and the notes you are hitting. Next I wish there was more music choices. I paid for a subscription and it wasn’t worth it because the music choices are still extremely limited! I have to say I am extremely disappointed. There should atleast be a thing where you can ask to add a song in the app or something because not being able to play your favorite songs is very annoying. I would say the only reason to get this app is if you wanted to tell people that you know how to play the guitar (except you won’t actually know the actual notes your playing).

This app is amazing, with room to improve. I'm an absolute music beginner and I have been using Yousician for guitar for about a month. I live the app and feel like I'm making real progress. Practice mode is very helpful for slowing down the tempo, honing in on the trickiest parts of a song, and repetition. The lessons are well-designed and the feedback is genuinely motivating. Hearing the Aussie accented "instructor" compliment me on my performance is surprisingly uplifting. A couple areas for potential improvement: first, I'd love to be able to print out the guitar tabs so I could practice offline and get used to reading tabulature in non-electronic format. Second, I wish I could have another family on my account, but with separate profiles so we could both be learning at our own pace, even if it required a small upcharge. And hopefully Yousician will continue to be able to license more and more well known songs to add to the fun.

Enjoyable, however, some issues still persist. For the past month I have been using Yousician, I have enjoyed it well. While there were some problems and glitches with the app not picking up any sounds and interpreting notes incorrectly, it manages to teach you new tricks for your instruments. A huge example was during a guitar lesson in rhythm where it taught you E, E minor, and A minor chords. You could play and miss a string and it would relay it as correct yet when you hit the chord correctly it reads it as a dead string or completely missed. This is extremely troublesome as some lessons require you to at least pass or get two stars to continue the lesson. During my free trial, it continuously had errors which I could not advance and surely created frustrations. In all honesty, this app is very fun and educational which major bumps to it. You should think first before you buy the premium, especially if you buy it only to not be able to continue your lessons to headaches like that.

Fun way to learn guitar.. I tried out the app for about a month and ended up almost using it daily so I went ahead and upgraded to the annual premium plus subscription. I think it’s a pretty good deal since it works out to around $15/month and they are constantly adding more songs to their library. One thing I wish they would allow you to do is view a song in some type of sheet music format. You can pause a song in practice mode and scroll through a song to see the tabs or notes but you can only go about 1-2 bars at a time. What I’m finding is that I can play a song as long as I am using the app but I can’t really do it if I just pick up the guitar and try to play from memory. In part, I think it’s because I can’t really see how many bars a pattern is repeated and how the the different parts of a song are arranged relative to one another.

I’m gonna talk about customer service. So, I got a one year subscription on this app because I’ve been wanting to learn guitar for a while and the pandemic finally got me to do it. While the subscription is really pricey, I’m just gonna say it is not necessary. Without the subscription you get 20 minutes of lessons a day, and with the subscription you get unlimited time and get a whole bunch of songs to learn. But my subscription just ended and I forgot to cancel it as I had only wanted it for one year, so I was charged again for another year. But thankfully I was able to email the support and get my subscription cancelled and get a refund. Also another thing is you can request songs, and my request got approved and added into the app, so they listen to suggestions. Thanks for reading!

Good, but .... Although the app isn’t perfect and it can be a real pain sometimes, it has definitely helped me become a better ukulele player. With the latest update I am completely unable to play any songs (even the ones I’ve unlocked!!!) after my free lesson time is up. This has never been a problem before, but now I’m forced to upgrade to premium to be able to use the app at all once my 10-15 minutes a day are used up. That’s a real pain, and extremely discouraging, and doesn’t exactly make me consider opting in for premium. In fact it’s pushing me more towards deleting the app! I don’t want this to discourage others though. There’s huge potential here and I think premium will be more than worth investing in someday, but not quite yet. I wasn’t planning on leaving a review but my frustration with the app is what got me to this point. Hopefully this “feature” will be revoked in the next update because I’ve had this app for a year or two and it hasn’t happened prior to the most recent update.

Wow. Yousician makes learning fun!. I'm learning how to play bass guitar and this has been the best tool I've found by far. I tried one-on-one lessons for a while but was having way more fun and making way more progress with Yousician. I signed up for the premium service for 12 months (which was less than a month worth of lessons) and I play it almost every day. There are little snags, of course but they are never more than an inconvenience that is almost always resolved by rebooting the iPad. Otherwise it is flawless and I truly look forward to advancing to the next song, the next skill, and the next level. Special thanks to the crew at Yousician for constantly adding fun and challenging new songs. Thanks also to the other Yousician users who add great popular songs to the available tracks. Please keep 'me coming!

No app cares less about its users. I’ve used this app for almost a year, paying an annual subscription for the highest level of functionality. It could be amazing. But the general pattern has been to remove functionality again and again, in particular the ability to create and practice your own songs, with no communication at all to the end user. I spent many hours laboriously keying in songs I wanted to practice into Yousician. I even bought a special program (guitar pro) just in order to get my songs on the Yousician platform so I could practice them. Then one day, poof — Yousician deleted every single one of my songs. No explanation offered. I emailed to ask whether my songs would ever come back. No response. From an app I’m paying over $100 a year to use. It’s hard to explain how it feels to have songs you have spent dozens of hours practicing just deleted one day, with no comment. All the stats, and the metrics you were using to progress—gone. The level of disregard Yousician has for its users is truly shocking. It’s not hard to keep an open line of communication with your users, but Yousician doesn’t bother.

Wish I had this when I was growing up. During COVID I decided with some time on my hands that I would take a stab at learning to play the guitar. Yousician had an “editors choice” rating on the App Store, and having very little direction I decided to download the app and begin my journey. Now 2 1/2 years later I can say thanks to Yousician, I can play guitar confidently at an intermediate level. Im slowly chipping away at songs on levels 9 and 10, but it’s always a labor of love. Learning on your own can be so frustrating, but Yousician really makes learning fun. There are always peaks and plateaus, but I always want to come back and accomplish more. I’ve added the family plan and now my kids are also learning guitar and piano. I can’t rate this app high enough. It’s a phenomenal tool for learning how to become a musician.

Worth It. I have been using Yousician for about a month now utilizing the Voice and Bass Guitar program. I already play bass but figured this would be a great resource for practice. I must say, my singing has improved significantly since starting the program. My only criticism would be that the lessons utilize songs written by the developers and therefore, in order to progress, you have to learn a song that you’re not familiar with. I understand as why as the use of owned material leads to property issues, royalties, etc.. It’s a minor criticism, but the only one worth mentioning. You WILL learn from this program. You WILL improve using this program. I intend to do the guitar and piano program down the road as well. These programs provide a solid foundation for beginner and development and skill honing for the seasoned musician as well. Worth the money.

Physically impossible to get gold stars on everything. Yousician is a great service but my gosh is the mic finicky. It is almost impossible to get gold stars on all of the songs, not because they are too hard, but because they are too fast for the mic to accurately keep up with. Im very perfectionist and OCD so when it comes to stuff like this. Whenever I’m playing a video game or doing a program like this I want to perfect everything 100%, so this issue is very frustrating for me. And it can also be discouraging when it feels like you’ve given it your all for a song and played it note for note PERFECTLY, but the stupid mic can’t keep up. And no I don’t think it’s an issue on my end with the physical mic I’m using, I have used several different mic set ups and the issue stays consistent. Anyways, besides that it’s a really great service, but the mic thing just really ruins it for me.

Service was not available.. I enjoyed Yousician a lot before I tried upgrading my plan to Premium +. Customer service was responsive but not helpful at all. I still can’t believe they can’t upgrade my plan on their end with proof of purchase. Here is detail for those wonder. I purchased the plan, but I couldn’t access the contents from both desktop and iOS devices. I checked my subscription plan to reassure and my bank account to see if the purchase went through. I found no problem there. So I began emailing Yousician support with screenshots of my end, yet the response was same: we didn’t receive information from iTunes, we can’t upgrade your plan, and please contact Apple support although I contacted Apple support with that matter. Now they request me to do refund through Apple support. What I can’t understand is, if they can’t help upgrading their service, and I have to go through Apple Support on everything for their plan, they shouldn’t call themselves support center. I needed support on something on their service, they couldn’t do it and I cannot use their service.

Try before you buy?. I downloaded this because the most recent reviews suggested you could use it for a couple minutes each day for free. Reading the reviews about how impossible it was to cancel a subscription (and that all subscriptions were for a full year) I was not and am not willing to risk the free trial (even if I’m sure Apple has my back) - but even a few minutes a day would be enough to tell me if it was worth it. Ukelele underground is great, but this had the added benefit of being able to brush up on my piano as well down the line. Well, I played through the first lesson - and now nothing. It’s been three days, but no new guided lessons. Can’t go further on the ‘learn’ option. Can’t even go back to other stuff. Everything leads me to them asking me to sign up for premium. I get it. You need to make money. I’m willing to give you mine. But only if you show me it worth it. And without holding my bank account hostage in the process. Too bad. People I know who previously had it said it was a good deal. The underground it is. :/

Does some things well..... It definitely teaches you to find chords and notes without looking at the fretboard because you have to follow the bouncing ball. However, I am gold through level 5 and wouldn't say I can play guitar. The knowledge path teaches you essential but very basic music theory. In the lead path it randomly throws scales at you without much explanation. The video game like play is good and bad. The good is that it gives you a feeling that you are progressing and you are but you can’t rely on it alone to teach you. It's more like harder and harder exercises so you have to supplement it with some other type of learning. It's not perfect in hearing what you are playing which can be frustrating. One last thing: transcribe and learn some songs and try to play them without following the ball. This will improve your timing and simulate real world playing. All in all it's one of the best apps I've tried but mix it up with something else like GuitarTricks.

I wanna like this app but.... Ok I first thought this app was great! All the lessons! I played for about 5 minutes after downloading it, and by the end of those first minutes, I already hated it. Everything is very expensive! I am just someone, with big dreams trying to improve my singing abilities, and I thought this app would be a great boost of help, but I was sadly mistaken. I really had high hopes for this app, but it wasn’t everything I hoped it would be. I don’t want to get the premium package, because it is a little overpriced for what it is. I can only do one lesson a day, without premium, and I can’t even sing any songs, cause there is not a big variety and they are all premium. I will now be looking for other apps, that hopefully, help me in other ways then money. Also, please stop playing the ad to promote your own game. I know these free apps need ways to fund themselves, so go get other apps and companies to display there ads! I really wanted the app, but I was let down really fast, please make some big changes and maybe my opinion of the app, will change.

Great app for beginners. Yousician has become my favorite app on my iPhone. I started on Yousician as an absolute beginner guitarist 6 months ago, followed the lesson plans, practiced easy songs, and can now jam with my more experienced guitarist friends and play for friends and family playing rhythm guitar for any songs with open chords with or without a capo. The “Guitar Hero” tabulature of the songs and lessons make easy to learn and clear when I’m making mistakes, and the updates continue to improve the app. Well worth the investment. Two wishes for the developers: (1) include lyrics to the “famous songs” so that my friends and I can sing along when jamming; (2) consider partnering with a site like Ultimate Guitar Tabs to expand the library of available songs, which is currently nice but far from comprehensive. Worth the money, folks!

Amazing! But one huge problem.. I’m willing to change this to a 5 if this gets fixed. The way it teaches is great! It pretty much makes learning music into a fun game. I was using it when I first started, it’s been 6 years and I’m starting to use it again to refine my skills. What really irritates me, are the videos. It will play for 2 seconds, until it starts stuttering and cutting out. Then I stop. Rewind. Does it over and over again. I’ve tried getting on and off different wifis, it’s not my connection. It’s always the same. I’m unable to use the videos because they’re so frustrating to try and get to speed without stopping. It gets to a point where I’m unable to actually learn anything from the videos because it won’t go on for more than 2 seconds at a time. If this gets fixed, I’d be more than pleased. But I’m super visual and I really enjoy having videos to go on top of the practices. I’m worried for when I get to the level where I actually am in real life, and to where I’m actually going to have to start learning things I don’t already know on the program.

Good idea, but not executed properly.. This app is such a great idea, and I’m so glad it’s mostly free, but there’s a huge difference between the lesson and the test. How frustrating is it when you know the material and do well at playing it and then you take the test and it’s completely different and much more complicated? It’s very frustrating. That’s what Yousician does. The lessons will give you a few chords to play and they’ll slow down the song for you when you are tested at the end of the lesson, but when a skills test comes up, there’s no practice, slowing it down, pausing it, or warning as to what you will have to play. Usually these are hard and quite frankly frustrating tests that (even though they only use the things you learned) go much faster than you’re used to. Taking one of these tests usually will have you extremely frustrated or maybe in tears. Another problem: for some reason, every time I use the app, it doesn’t automatically use my iPhone microphone to pick up sounds, so when I forget to turn it on, it fails me when I play at all because it won’t pick up noise. Please fix this; it’s insanely frustrating. They also don’t teach piano chords the easier way, and even though I knew how to play chords already, since I needed to unlock newer lessons, I had to relearn them in a strange and much harder way on Yousician. Once again, it’s such a great idea and has been pretty helpful in learning piano, but there are some big problems in the way of success.

Great but want more to learn. I love singing, and this app is great for that! I finished the first 2 missions and I had a blast. I was hitting every note and my singing improved incredibly! I entered the 3rd mission and watched the video explaining the mission. I then clicked the first activity on the mission, but it said I had to subscribe, and I’m only a child so I can’t pay! I tried going to the song section and all the songs needed a subscription to play them. I’ve been having to redo all of the activities I’ve already done, and I’ve already mastered all of them and want something more to do on the app. All I’m asking is to make more songs and missions free for children and people like me please. I will change my rating to 5 stars when everything is free but you need to unlock it by doing other missions. This app should have a wider FREE section to play. Until then, you will only get 3 stars from me. I’m sorry if this upsets you, but it’s just how I feel. Thank you.

Super helpful but incomplete.. I decided to pick up a yousician subscription again to learn bass over the summer because I had a really good experience when I used it to learn the ukulele. It’s really helped with my technique, speed, and motivation, and I like that I can practice by myself and for as long as I want. It also has helped me learn some basic music theory that is helpful for the bass. However, coming back, it seems like the interface is a little more empty- I couldn’t find the community/fan made songs anymore? The song choices are kind of basic and lacking. I was hoping to learn some green day bass lines with yousician but it seems there is none, I assume because of copyright and ownership stuff, but it would be nice to bring back the community made/make your own tab thing. Not a big deal since you can find tabs all over the internet, but it’s helpful to use yousician since it gives real time feedback and you can slow it down to practice.

Frustrating. Hey y’all this is kinda long. Anyway, so when you install it it says FREE LESSONS. So I thought that was cool bc it was what I was looking for. So I downloaded it. There really isn’t much to learn on there for free. You learn how to tune it, hope it and play the string. That’s it. They expect me to pay $300 a year. Then they’re prices went up to close to $400. I’m not laying that much. Especially after it said FREE!! I also don’t have that kind of money to waste on an app. This app really isn’t what it says. Heck Jason mraz is supposed to teach you the song I’m your. It isn’t free either. Currently I’m on the hunt for a better app. I also got it bc it showed and said Jason mraz teaches you his songs and I’m a huge fan of him so….! So beware of false advertising. It also takes up a lot of storage. They email you every day. They keep emailing me that I haven’t used it in awhile. Of course I haven’t bc of the fee. Thank you for reading my long and rude review. I don’t mean to sound like a Karen but I mean I’m just speaking the truth

Great game with some issues. I really love this app I really do it does help me learn my ukulele but sometimes when I play I do the right fret but it says I’m wrong I don’t get why they happens and another thing is that when i learn to sing as well (even though I know how to sing I just wanted to see if they’re good enough to make me a better singer) I try to do my lowest voice (not as possible) but it go’s up that’s just weird. I’m fine with that issue of singing but I really don’t appreciate the ukulele issue it’s happening more often now. Another thing I don’t like and I wish they would add is that it keeps asking me to do a trail and it’s like 100s of dollars for the I think a month to pay. I wish they would add a button of like never reminding again and probably in the future it would have another button to get back in just Incase we change our mind of doing premium since we’ll probably be all grown up and got a little extra cash to have no idea what to spend on :P thanks for reading

Best app for learning a new instrument. I am so glad to have stumbled on this app! I’ve been wanting to learn how to play my guitar for years but didn’t know she’d to go after learning my G shape chords. I’ve made more progress in the past 11 days with this app than I have in the last 3 years on my own! Yes, there is a subscription fee if you want to use the app to its best capability, but you’d be paying a teacher more per month to teach you the same thing this app does for cheaper. 10/10 recommend! The only minor drawback is sometimes it says I’m not playing a note I am or that I didn’t play a chord when I did, but it’s an app. It won’t be perfect 100% of the time. Again, I am so glad to have found this app and I’m excited for the progress I’ll continue to make because of it, not only on guitar but through the other instrument lessons as well!

Great app for anyone learning a new instrument. Ive learned many different instruments on my own, drums, piano, and quite a few brass instruments and I know the hardest hurdle is the beginning. Recently decided to pick up my first stringed instrument the ukelele and I was nervous going into the app, saw they offered a free 14 day trial so I gave it a shot. The lessons are thorough and you constantly revisit things youve done which is great to build up that muscle memory. They have video lessons explaining each section you're going to cover. Honestly wish I had the money to pay for the year for premium plus but life has it’s own way of forcing priorities with cost. Once I’m able to I’m planning on buying it. Just wish they had cheaper options that teach only one instrument but that’s literally my only complaint. I never leave reviews on apps so you know I mean it.

Worth the money coming from a beginner. So just recently bought a guitar in hopes of learning a new hobby. When I say I’m a beginner, I mean like didn’t even know how to tune a guitar. I kept seeing ads for the app and thought hey, why not. You can choose what level of a player you are and sets you up from there. The app starts you off at the appropriate level and you go from there. I just passed basics and almost finished with level one. It gives quick videos, challenges, exercises, and in practice mode you can play songs at whatever speed you like. While practicing it shows you if you’ve hit the notes correctly and everything else. I find it super helpful and honestly really fun. It has a 7-day free trial and plans that start at a month, three months, and a year. (Buying the year is cheaper in the long run). I definitely recommend!

Enjoying learning guitar!. I have had a good experience with the app, I’ve experienced no problems, and really enjoy the model they have for learning. Im not very far and will most likely update this review with time, but id definitely recommend to friends and family trying to learn guitar. Ive seen a few negative reviews in regards to the subscription model I believe these are all either children or really stingy adults. As me personally, i dont mind that the free version is limited and dont see the problem with their pricing structure as it is similar to other learning apps (think duolingo). I know we would all love to just play whatever song we want and practice that for free. But i do believe everyone should remember that there are people behind the scenes who need to be paid and im sure just keeping the app running isnt free. The team appear to be very responsive in their reviews which is also a plus!!! My only gripe would be that they put a timer on the practice mode and the regular lesson of thirty minutes. Last time (awhile ago) when i used it you could practice any part of the lesson you were on without the timer progressing which i really liked. But besides that. Overall having a blast getting back into guitar.

Wonderfully engaging. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as eager to practice an instrument as I have been with Yousician. I’m also picking up the Ukulele much faster than I expected and the real time visual screen makes it very easy to remember the cords and even when I’m not using the app. I can remember the cords after just a few short songs. The only thing I’ve had an issue with is the app has issues picking up my ukulele when I’m trying out the melody lessons, so I haven’t gotten very far in that section. Something else I love is the access to the other available instruments and singing. I love that they are working towards expanding their content to other languages. I’ve sang all the Spanish songs I could find and can’t wait for more. The singing lessons are really helping me work on my intonation, and learning ways to extend my performance time. Great job guys, keep up the awesome work!

Worth The Price of Admission to the World of Musicians. Started learning the guitar (classical) through Yousician four weeks ago & have progressed faster than I thought possible... Serious about learning the guitar? Want well thought-out, fun, interesting, motivating, intelligent, and logically presented lessons & information designed for individual pacing? Looked into guitar lessons but don’t have the flexibility to commit to a regular time and place on a weekly basis? Have you calculated the cost of annual guitar lessons with a professional teacher? Yousician has earned Apple’s Editors’ Choice and my recommendation because it epitomizes the power of an App: the power to teach effectively & the power to learn efficiently, entertainingly & conveniently. ...Some days I practice for 10 minutes & others I practice for over an hour. Yousician allows you to cater your lessons to your schedule. Yes, for an app it initially seems to have a high price but the annual subscription equates to less than 4 one hour lessons with a good professional guitar teacher & you can learn at the pace your sore fingertips allow. Whether I practice for 10 minutes or an hour, Yousician has proven to represent a great investment towards reaching my guitar playing goals. I also plan to Yousician some piano skills soon. Yousician: well worth the price of admission to join the world of musicians. Not affiliated with the creators — just an avid and appreciative Youser;-)

Purposely Misleading?. As a follow up.... still no word from Yousician support on how to sign up for single instrument. Never had such a difficult time trying to GIVE a company business!!! It's either not really an option or they don't care enough about signing up new customers to provide a response. Must be nice to be in business and not care about revenue!!!! After trying the free trial, I decided to upgrade to paid version. This was based on the understanding the price was cheaper if I only wanted one instrument. I am unable to find the single instrument option, only the monthly & annual pricing for all instruments. Based on the instructions under support, I cancelled the free trial but still could not locate the single instrument option. I contacted support and they sent a link to the same support section I already read. Don't know if they purposely make this difficult to find, but the free version isn't enough time for me. What a shame because this could be a good app and now they will lose a customer because I do not need access to all instruments and cannot find the single instrument option.....

Too soon to tell. So far it’s been fun, free version is super basic so it’s way to early to tell if it’s any good for learning songs or improving certain higher-level skills. But over all it’s like playing guitar hero with an actual guitar which makes practicing fun and gratifying. However it’s quite expensive for the paid version which is a bit of a turn off. If the price could be a little lower say $100 or $125 for a year. That would be more reasonable to me. Update: developer responded to my review with some generic message stating there is both yearly and monthly membership options the yearly requiring a commitment and the monthly being able to be cancelled anytime. Felt this response was unneeded as I’m not an idiot and could see that for myself and it doesn’t address the issue I had with the price. So thanks for the response I guess? Makes me question what level of customer service one could expect from this company; it certainly didn’t give me any more confidence in purchasing a membership on the platform.

Purchase options need work. I like the way Yousician works. There’s nothing else like it. Unfortunately, their purchase options make little sense and I’ve decided not to renew this time around. First, they’ve removed the piano and ukulele from this app. We used guitar, piano and ukulele, but now only the guitar is available. And they haven’t reduced the price! The piano and ukulele are now in their own app and cost another several hundred $$ a year if I want them. Second, they offer the full package (guitar, bass, voice, unlimited practice time, premium songs) or they offer only one instrument with only unlimited practice time. There’s nothing in between. Obviously, Yousician is making it so people will only choose the full package, but why isn’t there an in-between option? Why would I pay for all those things I’m never going to use? And why can’t I get a single instrument with unlimited time and premium songs? I was reluctant to renew the last time around and have decided to find another option this time.

The Best Teacher. I always loved the guitar but after the first time I took a class for it in the 6th grade, I thought I would never be able to play it. Yousician changed that for me. My girlfriend recommended it to me when she was taking piano lessons from the app. It does more than just make you watch video tutorials. The app helps tune your guitar by listening to you strum each string, and it starts out with easy videos and interactive strumming techniques that listen to you while you play so you know you’re doing it right. It’s like you have a REAL instructor there with you. I just got the premium, and I have to say, playing to songs that you know makes the experience that much more enjoyable. After you learn the basics, you can decide what kind of experience you want to learn which I thought was very cool. There’s lessons for those who want to just rock out solo, those who want to play as more of a rhythmic background, and those who simply love music theory and reading music. Best part about it, YOU CAN DO ALL THREE! I know $200 a year these days sounds pricey, but the cost of guitar lessons are usually much MUCH more. You’re definitely getting your money’s worth. Get the free trial and see for yourself !!!! Take it from someone who thought at the age of 22 that they’ll NEVER be decent at the guitar and doesn’t have an instrumental bone in their body.

Inspiration!. So, it all started when my friend was in guitar class and I thought me and her could play together in the same class, so I got accepted and right after my mom bought me an acoustic guitar and then the days had shifted to Thursday which both my parents were working so I couldn’t go....I didn’t know how to play or tune it (it sounded so terrible) so my guitar was sitting in my closet for 2 and a half YEARS! And I always thought to learn guitar I’d have to pay money and get a class but then I was staring at my guitar and I thought could there be a tuning app?? And that’s when I found GuitarTuna I tuned it sounded soOo much better! Then I thought again.. could there be a guitar teaching app then I found YOUSICIAN! For a year now, not very persistent but level 2 and learned chords (G,C,Am,E,Em,D, about to learn A) my life is so much brighter! (12 years old) Thanks so much for reading this!

Great except for “dead notes. This app and the piano version have been great for improving my understanding of music! However, and I can see that other reviewers agree, the chord songs are nearly impossible to finish because the app is way too sensitive in detecting “dead notes” when there either are none or they’re barely audible to the human ear. There should be an option to turn dead note detection off! Half the point is to learn the shapes of chords; nailing them takes a while, especially to fingers that aren’t used to acoustic guitar strings. It’s also frustrating that getting too many notes wrong ends a song entirely, and with the “dead notes” found when there are none, this happens way too frequently. This isn’t guitar hero! If I do a song poorly but finish it through, I’ll go back to improve it anyway. I should be able to finish a song I’m not doing well on.

Good at teaching, bad at being user friendly. My main complaint with this is just how often there is an ad to use the “pro version” or whatever. Practice times are very short, so having constant reminders that if i fork over money, i can play as long as i want is really annoying. I’m not paying $15 per month, that’s way too much for what it’s worth, so stop cramming it in my face . I don’t mind the suggestion of a pro version, but just do it once when the session is over. The app itself though, is definitely pretty good, it teaches well and has a pleasant user face. HOWEVER, it’s not $15 good. The price is especially a rip off if you only plan on learning 1 instrument, $10 for one instrument is outrageous. If i were learning from an actual person that sat right next to me and taught me how to play, then that would be more reasonable, but it’s not, it’s an app on your phone. Maybe if the app itself costed a flat rate of $15 then it would be okay, but 15 a month is dumb. I could go get lunch twice for $15.

It’s almost up to its potential. I have the free version. It’s taught me a lot so far, I love it. The only downfall is you get 20 minutes of practice... and there’s a lot of interruptions AKA ads to buy the premium version. It takes up some of your time too so you’re kind of cut short on your practice time. And on top of that it’s SUPPOSED to give you the full 20 mins, but lately when I’ve been doing it, I’ll be at 14/20 mins and then The AD will come up saying “well done your free time is now over, come back tomorrow” and I’m like ?? But I didn’t even use the full 20 mins? Very irritating. That’s really the only downfall to it, it doesn’t give us enough time to practice and it cuts us short from our free practice time as it is. Other than that, I’ve learned a lot and I do enjoy the app. I do wish on the premium version though, that they had more of your favorite songs to practice. That would be nice.

If you need something to get you started on playing string instruments, this app may not be for you.. From a personal experience in learning different instruments, it is always a better option to have an actual person help you. This app is okay if you need to learn the very basics but it’s not gonna help you get good with an instrument. It is far better to go to someone who could actually teach you like a music tutor, a friend, or someone local that knows how to play a string instrument like at a church or a band teacher. Someone who can teach you is far better than an app that doesn’t really help you much. I have had a lot of trouble with this app when trying to learn how to play bass. Sometimes when I play notes it tells me to play it says that I missed it when I clearly played a note. If you have no one that can teach you how to play a stringed instrument (which shouldn’t be hard) then use this app. But don’t think you will start playing like jimmy Hendrix in a few months.

Love this.. I love learning from this app! I have always wanted to learn piano since being taught a few little catchy tunes from a childhood friends mom. With Yousician I can truly learn at my own pace and in my own space. I love how you get pats on the back even little awards online it really keeps the spirits up. I must admit the puzzles can sometimes be frustrating even make you furious at times with frustration. I saw the pitch puzzles and thought oh this is hard and would get upset and think this is stupid it isn’t even really teaching me to play. I tell you though sure enough I was totally wrong I surprised myself being able to tell pitches even the slightest differences in pitch and because of that it has really helped me. Not to drag this on but don’t give up every little obstacle that is presented to you is there to make you better. You can even surprise yourself!

Amazing. For me personally a game changer. I have been playing for 30 years and never really was good. I hit a wall and was okay with it. I could play tons of songs and enjoyed playing 3 hrs a week. During the pandemic I used Yousician. I saw such an improvement the first time I used it, I was amazed. It just was the right way for me to learn. It forced me to practice a song over and over again while making it such an enjoyable and fun experience. I also had a habit of just learning the main riff of a song, and this program will make taking on the entire song easier. There are different levels of the song and it all builds on skills. I am addicted to it. I play 3 hrs a day now and use yousician about 4 hrs a week. The theory is really great as well. Amazing program that works great on phone, iPad, or desktop (at least on apple).

If your on the fence trust me you won’t regret it. This app is fully worth the 150 for the year. It turns learning guitar into like playing guitar hero and actually hearing the full song and getting to play along with songs you know even if it’s just a couple of notes at first is so enjoyable cause you hear it come together. I genuinely enjoy doing it every night after work I look forward to coming home and learning to play. In litterally a few days I went from knowing nothing about guitars to being able to play and switch between cords. Not only that but the way you learn actually sticks in your head I took about a week break and picked up right where I left off without issue. I highly recommend a lot cheaper then actual lessons and probably a lot more fun too. And if it can old my adhd brains attention you know it’s good!
