Mining with a plot!. There are plenty of mining games around, but this one is exceptional both in its visuals and in the presence of an overarching plot.

Offering Pit. I love the game. I can play it all day if I could. But the only thing that confuses me is the offering pit. What does it do? I’ve attempted to see on multiple profiles but it’s just wasting my resources...

Buggy and Broken. I was so looking forward to this game too. Unfortunately it's broken not long after the beginning of the game. You can teleport down into the abyss and, if you go right back through the portal it works, but if you go exploring in the cave to fill up your inventory, the portal no longer works when you get back. If you die or run out of fuel, the game is supposed to resurrect you right where you died with an empty inventory, but you come back invisible and unable to move or do anything but jump. Even if the app developers fix these issues in a future update, the bugs so frequent and glaring, there's no doubt in my mind the rest of the game is equally as buggy. There's no way I can play a game like this knowing there's a 60%-75% chance that I will lose all my progress because of a game breaking bug.

Impressed. Gotta say, better than I expected and pretty addictive.

Like old school crashlands, kind of.... I'm not typically into crafting but crashlands got me into this. Seems great so far!

Definitely worth it.. If you like a good ol' mining game with so,e monster killing fun thrown in, this is the one for you. Worth it.

It’s an okay game. The combat is a bit plain but you do get to mine and kill. Once you advance through the game you do get cool gear and you can kill larger monsters! :)

Why did you take out auto save?. It’s annoying. Before it was better.

Great so far!. I will try to leave a detailed review once I have had more time to play. So far I am enjoying the crafting and exploration. The story is light, but interesting, and the game has a certain sense of humor about itself riffing on many different sci-fi tropes from recent cinema.

Fun game but Could use some fixes. It’s a great game but I’m on my 3rd time trying to playing through. The first time I could not find enough rhodite and could not finish the game. Maybe an earthquake/partial tunnel reset could help this problem Larger map possibly? The second I got about 3 hours in and lost my progress(forgot to save the game) It Needs an auto save feature. Great game otherwise!

Enjoyable game. Can play for hours. Well designed. Started on the phone and loved it so much had to cone on the iPad.

My Favorite Digging & Crafting!. This is my favorite game that uses the digging and crafting style of play. The controls feel good, the story is good, and it takes a while to unfold giving us plenty of useful playtime. The visuals are very appealing and the soundtrack and sound design are both beautiful.

Mr. Lawrence. A very fun game, you must download and play this game. I've been playing for several years now and still love to start over and begin a new game.

Best ever!. Played this years ago and finished it and I am back! Can’t wait to see what you guys have in store! Would love for a graphic update for the iPad or at least an option to set graphic settings. Would love new “maps” that we can at least purchase in app and how about multiplayer where we could barter what we mine? Not get to overly complicated just fun mine and exchange of goods and services!

Decent crafting. Not a bad game for the price. Good graphics, nice music, relaxing atmosphere. Controls are a little strange, but work for the game. Only suggestion would be better mineral placement and increased number of enemies, also starting out with a better ammo amount would be nice.

Amazing and Beautiful. This is an amazing mining game! The visuals are beautiful, the controls are smooth, and the gameplay is really entertaining! I just bought this game about 30 minutes ago and I L O V E it! There is nothing that really needs to be added. I would have said add a building mechanic, but this game is fine the way it is! (If they put a building mechanic in, it would lose it's originality.) AMAZING JOB! The 4.99 price tag is so worth it!

Perfection. People are gonna be all like, cmon developers, this game needs more. But I think this game is amazing! Like just how RNG based the game is. Like luck to find certain ores. It’s just amazing. 11/10!

No auto save. I binged on this game for several hours. Only to come back the next session to see there is no auto save and all of my progress is reset.

Good game. Only been playing for about 2 hours so far, but it seems to be working well. No glitches or crashes so far. It's a fun little exploration/digging/craft game perfectly suited for the mobile environment. I do wish the jumping mechanism worked a bit smoother. I tend to waste more fuel than I should be because when I jump, it doesn't always quite make it to the next block, (the block is just one level higher), and I need fuel to finish the jump. Otherwise it's a pretty solid game worth the price of admission.

Needs some work. The game is great, but the crafting and ore sometimes do not add up. For example, if I mine x4 iron, what value does it take to make x1 iron ingot, does it take x1 ore, or x4???

Great game Terraria meets Metroid. Love the game. Easy to pick up. Great time killer and you don't have to be a level 12 nerd to play. Great to pick up during some down time and lots of mystery. Definitely a great game. Love the no pay to play or freemium aspect. True game.

Best ios Miner. Great game top to bottom. The most satisfying mining game I’ve encountered on ios, with the perfect blend and balance of RPG elements. A huge bonus is the super smooth controller support. I would loudly recommend to any gamer.

Quite good but don't pay 5. This is so much better than most stuff on the App Store but probably not worth five dollars. Gameplay is similar to many flash mining games but with combat.

For years I have loved this game.. As the title says, I always come back to this game. It’s almost as if you combined Minecraft and Terraria, and put that whole combo on Mars. There’s so much to do, and I always enjoy starting over from the beginning and going at it again, taking different approaches to how I progress in the game. That being said, I’d like it if maybe the sounds were updated a little bit, because mining sounds a little annoying sometimes. Other than that, this game is a gem.

Would be fun if it weren't so broken. Well made game, great art, theoretically very fun, but I can't believe I paid for something so broken. The game randomly crashes and restarts every hour or so. Now, that wouldn't be a problem except the save function is really cumbersome and there's no auto save. Basically impossible to make potatoes unless you're saving every five minutes. Generally very buggy, worse than a lot of free games. Really wish I could get my money back after buying this piece of crap.

So far so good. Game play is fun and the music and imagery are really slick. I am still early in my exploring and fave found no real surprises but I suspect there will be some around the corner.

LALALA! EXPLORING! . . . OMINOUS MUSIC? . . . I'm scared. . . .. I'm a pretty big fan of mining games like this. When I read the description of this, I knew what to expect. But wow! It's always a blast to strategically dig away new tunnels, excited for whatever is waiting to be discovered, but the eerie atmosphere combined with the mysterious ancientness of the setting and haunting choir music adds to the tension of the adventure. You never know what may be lurking in the dark. . . .

Good but needs more. The story of this game is appropriately mysterious and there's a bit of humor too. The mining mechanic is fine and the combat is OK if a little boring. The graphics and animations are great. The only aggravating aspect of the game is the proportion of overall playtime spent traveling back up to the surface. The game would have been more engaging if some puzzle, adventure, or strategic elements had been incorporated. The bosses had no particular patterns or weaknesses, or at least most were beaten on the first try without employing any particular strategy. Although you have to beat all the earlier bosses to enter the final dungeon, beating each individual boss gives no special power-up or access to any areas you couldn't already go. Would be an ideal game for some sort of expansion. Thoughtful design of new levels and challenges would be a big improvement over the procedural generation of the base game. Solid but uninspired.

Decent game, but frustrating bugs. The game was ok. It’s a bit of a grind to progress, but the bugs are way more frustrating and have finally ruined it. Some of the bugs were nuisances, but most recently, I mined what appeared to be some of the only remaining steel (necessary to craft important items) and I saved my progress. Suddenly, the portals simply stopped working. My only choice is to die (and lose the small and precious amount of material collected and possibly never be able to progress crafting) or wait for the bug to be fixed. I’m putting this game down for a while. I hope they do something to fix bugs on new iPhones like X and XR.

Pretty cool. It's a pretty cool mining/exploration game. A little slow and a little limited, but overall good. You can write a review to get more luck in the pit - a little lame dev trick to get reviews :)

Noticable bug. I've noticed a glitch in the game when the player dies, the player doesn't get resurrected even tho there is a 'number of deaths' status. Please, fix this glitch.

Amazing!. Very awesome game. Fun concept and well executed. Unfortunately the controls can be a little better such as dedicated buttons for the jet pack and jump.

Phenomenal maddening game. A truly epic game. Totally worth the $. But hits on my biggest pet peeve in games. Developers if you know you have sucky controls DON'T design areas which exploit your lazy (or inept) programming. If you ever played Neverwinter nights you screamed at trying try move 6 characters through a cramped dungeon like one of those puzzles with 20 squares and 19 out of order numbers. Stupid dungeon areas in this game which have unavoidable lava and spike because the flying portion is so jumpy in controls. Grrrr! Otherwise 5 stars.

So far so good.... I like it so far, but time will be the test....just scratched the surface, but seems to have some variety in crafting and equipment that will keep it interesting.

Needs More content, But overall Amazing game. So far im having a great time with the game loving the depth into the storyline and just the entire atmosphere, but i was wondering if yaw could add some sore of maybe platform to place down on gaps to help with mining so im not always falling in a hole using my jetpack to get over it, also it would be nice to see the Movement pad on the left and the jump pad on the right so im not always hitting the gun pad when trying to jump. Just a suggestion was wondering if yaw could cover that. Overall i love the concept and content the game has, well worth my time and money. Would love to see more content and updates. Thank you for us a brilliant work of art.

Fun for hours. Had fun for hours playing this game!

Really Fun, But Be Careful. This game is really fun to play, but there are two bugs that happened on my iPhone SE 2nd Gen. 1) There is a bug where a portal appears on top of a dungeon, making it impossible to complete the game. 2) After completing the game and walking through the last portal, the ending does not appear. (I had to restart to get this far.) My advice is to wait until they release a version after after 4.01 specifically stating they fixed these issues, or DO NOT BUY PORTALS as doing so could ruin the game and be happy that you might not see the ending after beating it.

Great overall. Gameplay is fun, and scenery is great. Controls could use some refinement, and the distribution of resources leaves a bit to be desired. Overall, great bang for the buck!

Excellent game for mobile. This is a great game to chip away at when you're wanting to pass time. It's not so heavily involved that you spend too much time grinding for crafting materials. Love the art style and sound as well.

Sizzlore. The game itself is amazing, beautiful and super addictive, you just want to plug your phone in and just grind at it for hours. But that being said, when the game glitches and you have to restart over again it's all the more painful, I've restarted 6 times now just to give it a chance cause its that good, but seriously, fix those issues

Excellent game without an ending. Disappointed as I mined and fought my way through all the levels only to find this game has no ending, it just goes around in a never ending loop.

Needs to do something about fuel. This game can get very addictive, hard to stop playing. Which makes it all the more infuriating when fuel levels begin to restrict your abilities. The first upgrade for fuel takes too long to achieve, meaning your capabilities can easily stagnate, as you have to go much farther with the same amount of fuel. And since monster spawns are randomised and don't always drop fuel, they are not a reliable source for it either. If you could provide an alternate means of getting fuel - by synthesising materials you have or getting extra fuel cans up top - it will make the game so much less frustrating.

Good concept, but repetitive. The concept of the game is great, but the design isn't the best. The controls don't take advantage of the touch screen - they're stuck in the arrow key era. A few enhancements would make the game more playable: provide a mini-map, and highlight buildable items in the crafter. The mineral ratio is also too low for the game to be enjoyable for me: there's lots of digging and exploring, and the occasional build.

How are we supposed to read ant sized fonts?. Do you devs actually look at your games before publishing them. I just bought this game today 7 March and I'm straining on my ipad to try and read. I wear glasses and I still can't read the tiny ant sized fonts. With all the space on an ipad why have you not made the fonts readable? I'll give the game many more stars IF I can ever play it. You've got my money but I can't play it.

Lots of fun!. Great game if you love exploration.

Too many little problems.. Controls are clunky and you have to resurface way too often. It's a mining game. Not a jet pack game. Down. Not up. Also bin fills up way to fast to ever let you really get into enjoying exploring at starting levels and major flaw is that when bin is full any blocks mined are deleted. The ore isn't either left behind to be picked up later nor is it picked up so that ore is lost forever in the game. Bin needs to be made bigger at the start to help you get into mining, not crafting. I played for an hour and resurfaced 10x times. Terraria is fun because you can just dig dig dig then when you go up to the top you have a boat load of stuff to sort and craft - it's all your treasure. This game gives you too little of both. No mining. No loot. No treasure.

WON'T LOAD. I'm really not impressed that I spent $4.99 on a game that won't load all of a sudden for some reason! I've already had to start a new game once and now my second game won't load when I click on it. I refuse to start a third game and start all over again.... Again. It's little monotonous to say the least to do it all over again.... For the third time. I never would've considered giving this game one star if this didn't happen and I was able to continue playing. That being said.... I'd be more than happy to change my rating if this issue was resolved.

Great with Nimbus MFi controller! Please update MFi Menu button support.. I'm so glad to have found a quality game here on the App Store. Yes, it is worth the few dollars, in case there're any doubts. I do recommend using an MFi controller, as it completely changes the feeling of the game. My only wish is for the game to be updated to support the MFi controllers' Menu button to actually open the menu. It feels strange switching between touchscreen and controller just to open the menu, especially when using the Lightning Digital AV Adapter to play on a tv using HDMI.

Atmospheric and relaxing. The music, graphics and sound effects combine to make this an atmospheric experience. An enjoyable and pensive game interspersed with moments of revelation and discovery, mild combat, and occasional humour. Some of the movement controls can be unnecessarily frustrating (flying up avoiding blocks, jumping, positioning yourself properly on blocks), and some of the boss and mini boss battles can get clunky. But overall a great game and a great experience. Just understand that if you find swinging a pick axe into dirt for 90% of your gameplay is boring, you might think twice before hitting the 'buy' button. On the upside, the variety of things to do and the story progression itself does keep things interesting.

Great mining style game. This game seems like one of those great undiscovered hidden gems. There isn't much that I would change, there seems to be the right balance of creepy monsters, mining discovery, and crafting to progress to keep wanting to play. I have noticed a few bothersome glitches in my iPhone 6 like when I try to walk left, it won't, however, if I keep contact with the screen when walking right and change to left it usually works! It's just when I take my thumb or finger off the screen it doesn't work. If they fix that and keep updates coming it will get 5 stars. I strongly recommend this game to anyone who likes games like mine craft,terraria or other games that you need to adventure and craft to progress in the game!

Fun but brief. Not sure about the other complaints. I loved this game although it only took about 11 hours of playtime to finish. I quite enjoyed parts of the narrative, and slowly building at the start of the game wasn't an issue for me. Plan your upgrades wisely at the start. It was visually appealing in a strange sort of way.

Promising, but with serious bugs. A great game, but with fatal bugs. One of the portals you can purchase were placed overtop the entrance to a dungeon. This made the dungeon inaccessible and the game unfinishable. Rather frustrating...

Motherlode of a game!. Imagine castlevania meets metroid and motherlode. Great soundtrack, gameplay and environment. Only downside is it takes a while to get used to the jump and shooting feature.

Interesting. This game is worth the money it is graphically beautiful and adventurous there many unknowns in this and you feel very satisfied as u find new hems and ores for various armors and weapons and other necessities there is only one complaint I have it is not very challenging what this game needs is more action and intense battles with the unknown creatures of mars the boss battles are cool but we need a little bit more in between those boss battles I do hope that they make that happen in the next update. Flawed and Beautiful. I always excpect the best from Crescent Moon. This little game has lots of potential. However, as it is beautiful, and the artmosphere and music great, the controls are horrible. I never know whether i will move, shoot or fly. That gets annoying very quickly.

Very Well Done. Mines Of Mars is a very addicting game. With a very simple, fun and long story mode/campaign to keep you interested. Well worth the time invested. No lags, bugs, or crashes of any kind too, as far as performance goes.

All I could have asked for!. This game incredible. From one who grew up with Mother Load, and impressed by Terraria, this game is a must for mining adventure seekers.

Good potential ruined. I really wanted to like this, but it takes far too long to mine and there is too little in between useful veins of material. Being able to retrieve the things your previous deceased corpses were carrying might help. Ultimately there just wasn't enough going on to hold my interest.

Completely failed to draw me in. I bought it for $5 based on the beautiful graphics and good reviews. I tried it for a while, and felt "put off" by everything about the gameplay. Aiming the gun was awkward, with the gun firing on its own while I still think I'm aiming. I could get more ammo, but couldn't figure out if it cost money. The same with fuel. I was told to tap the bottom right corner of the screen to do a one-square-height hop, so I could avoid using fuel. Every time I did, trying to also move left or right, I ended firing the jet anyway. I was encouraged to experiment / play with some kind of "trading machine," which I think was more like a gambling game. I would give it the ore I had mined, it would do some calculation, and then nothing would happen. I really needed some early "successes," or at least some sense of what I was trying to do, to put up with the frustration, lack of instructions, and awkward controls.

Great Game but Buggy. If you can tolerate a lot of bugs in a game for amazing aesthetic and immersive gameplay, than Mines of Mars is well worth the $5. It has probably some of the best atmosphere of any iOS game, due to an amazing musical score and gorgeous scenery. The ability to upgrade everything you have is very satisfying too. That being said, the game has a lot of bugs. I haven't run into anything game-breaking on my iPhone 5, iOS 8.4, but they definitely manage to tear me out of the world. Things like text overlapping, odd graphical glitches, or dialogue not triggering when it is supposed to can ruin the game for some people. I keep coming back to the game, but the glitches and bugs really do hinder what could be an amazing game.

Why the bad reviews ?. I get they if u like junk jack or terraria this (MIGHT) not totally live up but this is a slightly different game and an original idea. It's like a more rpg terraria with more action. I say it might not live up cause it's simpler but I don't like junk jack because it's too complicated and not enough action. This has enemies in many places so you always use a gun. It's metro merged with terraria so if these games are a Lill too complicated but you like them this is a 5 star game with cool upgrades. Now you can't build cause this is a mining game but this is about finding hidden areas, upgrading the equipment and mining.

Wonderful amospheric mining adventure. I can't get into most iOS mining games (like Terraria and Junk Jack), because although I can appreciate and admire how people more creative and patient than I am can create amazing worlds with them and have a great time doing it, for me the micro-tasks involved are just too tedious. With that in mind, I reluctantly gave this game a try, and I am very glad I did. The mining tasks in this game are streamlined and refreshingly simple, and the atmospheric music and eery environment are immersive and captivating. Throw in the occasional creepy Martian to shoot, a jet pack to make getting around easier, and simple yet effective controls, and you've got one great adventure game that keeps you wondering what interesting thing you'll discover or create next. Also nice is that it's a fair flat price with no IAP nickel-and-diming. If you liked "Waking Mars" I think you'd really enjoy this game; it has a very similar feel. Or, if you are (like me) a bit put-off or intimidated by the complexity of some other mining/crafting games, you also might want to check this one out - it's a fresh new take on the genre, and worth the price of admission.

LOVE THIS GAME!!!. I almost gave up on mines of mars at first, there was little to no explanation about where to go and how to start (the portal), but once I did I was pleasantly surprised to find a dense underground world to explore with metroid-esk gameplay. I quickly fell in love with the gameplay loop of mining to upgrade my equipment only to mine more and more. I will say the one down side of this game was the wonky weapon controls, the developers could have given the player more of an aim assist but i did get used to it eventually. I really appreciate all the love the developers put into this game and the tongue and cheek dialog can be pretty hilarious at times. I hope more devs begin to create more games like mines of mars. In a sea of clash clones I greatly welcome more like this. 5 stars!

Great way to learn about minerals. This game teaches you how to get minerals and what they do it would be cool if a game like this was made and called "mines of earth" but there is one thing that makes the game hard to master the last monsters are hard to kill also it would be cool to have a voice over on the dialog boxes there is on game that does this I have it now along with this game I would also like to be put on a newsletter to let me know when updates come

Meh.... Tedious (so.... so tedious) and not terribly well designed. Not absolutely terrible but probably save your money.

Great mining game. I've been playing this game on and off for a while now, it's really a great game. The graphics are good, the monsters just difficult enough for most, but the one thing that I think it needs is a map. It's always the same thing, I have a ton of cobalt for my next pick axe, but I can't find the portal. I search around for a while until in final run out of fuel and loss all my loot! The map doesn't need to be very descriptive, just shows the general layout of your surroundings and a waypoint for your portals. I believe that would make this game an easy five stars for anyone who likes mining games.

Tragedy - Do not purchase. WARNING: DO NOT BUY This game is beyond repair. The control system is awful, despite being clearly explained. Trying to move usually results in a few uttered swear words, and no movement. The aiming system is horrendous, prompting you to "touch the right of the screen" with no clear method of actual aiming aside from a spray and pray. When your target is usually your character's size, this starts to get really annoying. The mining takes WAYYY to long, and isn't very rewarding. Truthfully the game was so bad, if there's any rewarding elements I didn't have the patience to see myself there. To compare this game to Terraria, Fallout, Metroid, or Minecraft is not only an insult to the titles themselves, but also the designers. It's also just plain ignorance. All the five star three sentence reviews you see are likely from designers who are mislead by biased opinions and dishonest goals.

Awesome game!. Love this game it's so much fun. Great graphics. Good story and fun upgrades plus there aren't any of those silly iap's. Wish there was a map and just a little bit more depth like being able to build stuff like in another fun mining game I like to play that starts with a T and ends with an aria. Space themed games are my favorite genre so this was really a no brainer when it came to hitting that but button for me. Been playing off and on for a bit and have yet to regret my decision. Top notch game dev! Keep em coming! P.S. Encountered a bug where the side of my screen by my home button will flash when digging every once in awhile it started occurring after the last update so maybe in the next one you could fix that it would be great plus I'll add that last star. IPhone 5s 64gb running ios 7.1

Pretty good game. Part RPG, part "dungeon looter", this game has you mining the planet Mars for various materials that you can use to craft different objects to further help in your quest to mine. For example: As you mine deeper, the temperature goes up, so to keep going you have to build heat resistance in your suit. Along with mining, you have weapons that are used to kill critters, which give you life and fuel. Guns can be upgraded, as well as your trusty pick axe. Overall, very good game. Only improvement would be a better tutorial.

One of the best games I've ever played. This game is the best. The storyline if intriguing. The ending is a bit weird though,but still cool. I beat the game but still have only completed 81% of the game, that just shows that there is still more to discover. Great amazing game. I absolutely love it. You can't mine up from standing point, but if you upgrade your boots twice, you can flip gravity and mine that block above you! It's a bit confusing, but once you upgrade your boots twice, then you'll understand. The best game ever.

Great game... until a bug ruined it. I loved this game at first, it was like sci-fi therapy - cool relaxed gameplay with lots of exploration and just enough monsters to keep it interesting. Then, after I opened the fifth dungeon, suddenly there were these new fast monsters popping out everywhere! Hundreds of them! Now I can't even make it down 100 feet without being swarmed! I'm pretty sure this is a software bug since it changed so suddenly as soon as the "wart-hogs" appeared. I can't even make it down to the fifth dungeon now without either running out of life or running out of ammo. I was able to mine down past 3000 feet earlier, now I can't even get near that. No fun, no play! I'm done. 2 stars for keeping me interested for awhile. Maybe I'll try it again if they address this issue in a update. Update: Later I decided to start a new game and try a different strategy. This time I maxed out all of my weapons and equipment before entering the first dungeon. I was able to make it all the way through the game to the ghost stage and I only encountered ONE warthog throughout the entire process! I upped my review by one star. If it wasn't for the bugs, this game would easily be a five star game! Update #2: I sent an email to the developer and he responded that, yes, this is a bug and they are working on a fix. I'm upping my review by one more star because of that!
