Tell your friends about this app!. One of the rare occasions I leave an app review... Here goes: at first the game is hard to control and there seems to be a lack of "flow" to the gameplay. But, keep in mind you upgrade your little octopus guy considerably, and you begin to wreck havock. Strategies become evident and your character gets stronger and you realize that this app rocks. You will discover that it has surprising depth and wrecking your enemies becomes really fun. Give this app a few hours of play to appreciate it and you too will love it!

Best "roguelike -like" on the iPhone. This is essentially the Binding of Isaac for the iPhone. Randomized layout/ items/weapons with a wide variety of sealife monsters to smash. Whats great about this game is that it isn't a twin stick shooter, which in my opinion doesn't translate well at all on a touch screen, but the the attack/special/shield are buttons. Mobility and offense are easy and fun to pull off. Theres an indepth amount of over all stats on your character, and getting xp is fast enough as each area will have tons of enemies, so leveling up isn't that difficult. And one of my favorite things: non intrusive ads. For a free app, ads can make or break it. For this game though, ads only play occasionally in between areas, and you either can close the ad immediately or wait 5 seconds. That is perfect in my opinion. Also its only 99 cents to get rid of the ads too if you really don't want to press them. Speaking of the stuff you can buy, you can buy stuff to help you, but none of it's required and i think fighting through the areas without the additional help is a fun challenge.

Awesome fun with great art!. I've never played a game by Butterscotch before but WOW am I floored! I rarely give five stars to App Store games because most of them are IAP-riddled pieces of casual garbage. But I'm happy to say this is simply a good game. Yeah, there are IAPs but they seem to be purely optional (which is what they should be). I love the hand-drawn artwork, the retro sound effects, and the crazed dialogue and UI touches! The game is like a casual beat 'em up with tiny RPG flourishes like loot collecting and swapping for different weapons, each having various stats and effects. And the game's hero reminds me of Zen the Intergalactic Ninja! Great job, devs!

Amazing Game. I hate writing reviews so i never write them... But this game is truly amazing. It's extremely addicting, has a fun loot system that is extremely humorous, has lots of fun leveling and rpg mechanics, and truly is a game worth downloading. I would play it if it cost $10, but it's free, so truly take advantage of it being free and play it, you won't regret it.

Great. Downloaded this on day 1 of release and just re-installed again today because I've been having so much fun with their recently released Crashlands that I wanted to relive this game. What a gem! I love it so much I buttered it up! Also downloaded Towelfight 2 and Flop Rocket. Butterscotch Shenanigans are among the top echelon of iOS developers. Hop on board the train!! You won't regret it!

THE EXAMPLE FOR ROUGE-LIKES. This game has a great balance of difficulty with smooth gameplay to bring you a great rouge-like. The game also features pets to help you and permanent upgrades for extra assistant. One flaw with this title is with the micro transactions. Most of the butterscotch games include a "ButterUp" transaction that allows you to support the game and get in-game perks, but at the same time, titles like monocle of destiny and this game both have insane amounts of micro transactions and I saw it as a money beggar system. I know that the company consists of 3 men who need money for food and clothes but can you please tone down the micro transactions. Thank you for your time. A Player, Kegari

Quadropus Rampage. This is THE GAME that got me into Butterscotch Shenanigans. I've been a pretty big fan since. Quadropus Rampage and Towelfight 2 would both do incredibly well on 'console' platforms (at least IMO), but it's not just because of that that I feel lucky to have these available on mobile. The gameplay is outstanding, yes, but the amount of care, dedication and love that is put into each and every one of their games comes shining through the more you play and the deeper you go. They're also very responsive developers who have a very good track-record when it comes to updates and IAP items/pricing... essentially giving you a 'full' unlock for one set price or give you the option of paying little amounts (either way, you're never really forced into buying anything to complete their free games). They have definitely secured their spot as one of my 3 favorite video game developers across all gaming platforms. Long story short, these are the types of developers we need to support. DEFINITELY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Totally fun and nonsensical!. This game reminds me of what mobile gaming can be - fun, crazy, and makes time fly! The game concept feels like what would happen if several excellent game developers started with inspiration from a wild preschool lunch table discussion of ocean creatures, and then finished the game after a crazy college party. Or, in other words, fantastic visuals and game play, and puzzles that are both grossly funny and mentally challenging enough to keep you entertained.

Simply awesome. Easy controls, easy to pick up, challenging to master. This is one of the most fun and addicting games I have ever played. It is an arcade style 3D slash and loot game with a wide variety of awesome, funny weapons from a lava sword to some chopsticks with ramen from North Korea. The more achievements you unlock, the more skills. You and your pet can have. There is also a variety of pets from which you can buy and choose from 2 to assist you in battle. The upgrades for the character are expensive, yet extremely helpful. But if you can't afford something, you can wait about a day to spin the spinner which will give you a fair amount of currency. Overall this game is awesome, and if you have not downloaded it yet, DOWNLOAD IT NOW

A very, very well made game. No joke-- this is game is a friendly time vampire. Hours will pass and fingers will become sore. You'll figure out unique attack patterns and strategies as you dive deeper into the abyss. Prepare to talk to yourself, snicker out loud, and get pleasantly frustrated when you die-- which you will... multiple times. Butterscotch Shenanigans makes great games. This is one of them. Prepare to be absorbed!

Good game after crashlands. I bought crashlands a while back and I beat it a little bit ago, I then got bored because of the lack of games like crashlands, I decided to look at other games by BS and saw Quadropus rampage so I downloaded it, its really fun and I don't get bored of it because it's not the same exact thing every time you restart. This is a great game and I recomend it to EVERYONE

Early Review. Only a few hours in, but very fun so far.

Saddened. I had purchased this when it was a payed app I buttered up as well and made some additional purchases. As I was installing your most recent games on my iPhone 6 I noticed I had yet to re download quadropus and towelfight 2 so I did so, but upon opening the game and signing in it said I had back up data for this game and asked if I wanted to use it (I tapped yes) it said I unlocked something it was like gherbl the destroyer or something, but nothing was unlocked, my data wasn't transferred and the restore purchases button does nothing. Doesn't even ask me to sign in. It's disappointing. I don't want to risk paying for anything else.

A Roguelike Brawler For The Ages. My absolute favorite genre of video game is that of the roguelike. After being hooked on the classics for many years, my body has a chemical dependency on randomly generated dungeons and exciting loot. Also, as a man I am thoroughly interested in the fast paced, brutal gameplay of the brawler. This game presents the cream of the cream of both genres. Get it. Get the IAP. Butter up. Buy the coin doubler. You will do the opposite of regret it.

Amazing!!. What a great game! Despite loosing your progress and having to restart upon each death, this game does not disappoint. Weapon names are hilarious, and gameplay is pretty easy to pick up. My thumbs are numb now from the joystick, something I haven't felt since zenonia! I wish it was a BIT more intuitive; it's hard to hit the enemy with the standard attack, so I end up spinning most of the time.

Five Star Game. Quadropus Rampage is an incredibly addictive game for the person who simply needs to kill time for a few minutes. Unfortunately for that person, the few minutes can often turn into half an hour or even a full one. Overall the mechanics are smooth and the game doesn't absorb itself in being complicated. An insanely fun handheld game.

Funny, enjoyable and a great IAP model!. I was a bit worried that the IAPs would ruin the game (possibly making it too easy for newcomers, or that there would be too much grinding involved). However, I'm glad that the developer doesn't follow in the paths of money hungry companies like EA or Gameloft. The IAP is strictly there for those without patience. I managed to get all the masteries (which is why the secondary currency is there) in a few days with about two hours of average gameplay (maybe less). That doesn't mean there isn't much to unlock. In fact, the variety of enemies and the humour are amazing. Also they added even more stuff with this update! Thank you so much guys! It's definitely one of my favorite games on the AppStore. Must buy!

Hate the interface. I don’t get why there are horrible buttons that you have to use to control movement for this game, even if you’re playing on an iPad. Why not control movement by touching where you want to go or where you want to strike? Thoroughly annoying, not enjoyable.

Hooked (no pun intended). So far I haven't been able to put the game down. The muchanic of having to start from the beginning can be frustrating at times but it have kept the game on a fun and refreshing track. Every time I pop open this game it makes me want to play for hours but I usually on have 10 to 20 minutes at a time to play during the day. Good game keep making more and I can't wait for Crashlands.

This is the best free game on the App Store. I honestly don't understand why this game doesn't get boatloads of recognition. It is by far the most engaging free game on the App Store and the only free game I've played for this amount of time. The gameplay is great, they don't shove purchases down your throat, and it's a great experience. You should get an in-app purchase just to thank the developer. Great game.

Seriously the best iOS game I have played to date. I have purchased or downloaded around 100 games since owning my first iPad and I can seriously say this is in my top 3, if not the best game I have ever played on this platform. Easy and quick to pick up and play and even easier to lose track of time and play for hours.

Good old fashioned fun. I don't normally review games on the App Store because, honestly, I feel guilty for spending so much time playing games that are explicitly designed to addict you (see: Temple Run 2). Quadropus Rampage, though, is plain and simple FUN. I don't think I've ever enjoyed myself while playing an iOS game as I have with QR. The art is great, it has a quirky sense of humor, and the pacing is ideal. I'm not very good at it yet, but I like the fact that I typically lose because I'm being an idiot, not because the game is unfairly difficult. That's always a good sign in a game. I hope these guys find some financial success with this game, because I'd love to see more from them.

One of the best!!. This is by far one of my favorite games. The controls of the game are tricky at first but I quickly got a hold of them. My favorite part is the aesthetics of the game. The art is wonderful and well done along with the enemies and special items. The names of weapons are absolutely hilarious. The one downfall is in the new update, you have to pay doubloons for the special items instead of orbs. They also created an orb doubloon exchange which I don't like as well as the spinning wheel. Other than that amazing game! Anyone who is looking for a quick game with high replayability, this is the game to get!

GOOD JOB. This game is one of the best mobile games, on par with their other game, CRASHLANDS. Just started to play the game, and it’s awesome. The mechanics are really smooth and tight, and if you butter up, you get extra, which I may in the future because this game is amazing.

Butterscotch….please, i’m begging you.. I’d like to start off by saying that I had fairly average expectations for the title considering some grievances I’ve had with Butterscotches previous work, but with it being a roguelite/like, I set a higher standard seeing as it’s my favorite genre. Alas, after around 15 minutes of play, I had realized it was just another copy/paste Butterscotch title. The movement is clunky, little to no variation on mechanics, weapons, and stagnant map design in terms of the layouts. That being sad, I will always love the aesthetic, the art, and the goofy characters, hence why I keep coming back to their games, but this one as it currently stands, is a wonky mess.

Absurdly fun. This game is incredibly fun and surprisingly addicting. I'm a phone gamer, I have a big collection; this is by far my favorite game in my collection. I would have never heard about this game if it wasn't for the article "Why we can't have nice things" posted by Adam. I am now going through your library one by one, downloading, buying at least one IAP, and charging into the game head first. Keep it up guys.

They removed the ads. In the most recent update (as of Dec 2018) they just removed all the ads. What game developer does that? Only the best.

Butterscotch Shenanigans has outdone themselves.. This game is a great embodiment of an action RPG, with some elements of rogue-like. Pick this up for free, try it and see if it's the game for you. Then, if you are having fun bashing your head against the wall because of your mistakes causing you to start over, throw them a few bucks for their deserved hard work and brilliant product.

A very worthy game. I don't want to see stars any lower on this review page because this game is the epitome of a perfect game. They need to make more games like this. It also keeps the action going by letting you get quickly but make it still a long game. A must get especially if you like upgrade ganes. I think that this is an all-time best.

LOVE IT. Yes. This game is amazing. It never forces you to get any app purchase, only suggesting it as a friend would. The gameplay consists of whacking sea creatures with stick-shaped objects as a four-legged octopus called a quadropus. It is deeper than it may sound. This game should be more popular GET IT NOW!

Really worth checking out!!. I love this app and it really should be more popular! The only thing I would love even more is updates! New enemies or weapons or hilariously random weapon names would be great! It would also be cool if you void have a pet crab or something and being able to upgrade the pets you bought! Quadroplegic Fun!. Whether you've got 8 legs, 2 or none, this game is outrageously fun. Butterscotch are quickly becoming serious contenders on the app market, they haven't put a foot wrong yet, and this here is just a little more proof of that. Arcade bullet hell hack and slash glory, but with aliens, seriously, what more could you ask for?

More wonderful than a cocaine fudge sundae.. I can't wait for the sequel, Quadropus II: Electric Boogaloo.

This game is absolutely a great game for time consuming especially on long car trips,there's small bugs that still need to be fixed.The graphic's are really smooth,I also think that you shouldn't charge 1 deblon per weapon, could you change it instead 300 gold/bubble's per weapon?That would be really helpful. Brilliant 'roguelite' for iOS. A mainstay on every device I own, Quadropus Rampage is a brilliantly satisfying dungeon crawler ala Zelda or The Binding of Isaac. The boss "Pete" takes permanent damage, and the variety of game modes leaves you always chasing something. QR also does freemium properly-- I put in my 99 cents to get rid of ads, but don't feel pressured to buy doubloons or max out all my stats for $$$. Another great game from Butterscotch Shenanigans!

Addicting!. Very fun, challenging, rewarding, and over all addictive. I play this whenever i'm on my Ipod it's great fun. The only complaint i have is the pause menu is really jagged and slow, but that might be because of my IPod Touch is a 3gs.

SUUUUPEEERRRR AWESOMME. Ok so during my journey to find a dungeon crawler like the binding of Isaac I came across this game. Just from looking at the pictures I already was interested. Once I started playing, I couldn't help but look at each and every unique weapon name and chuckle. The gameplay is smooth and the art style is awesome. GET THIS FREAKIN GAME

Just perfect. Like all BS (Butterscotch shenanigans) games it is hilarious and extremely fun. Don't think too hard about this one and just download it. And keep playing! The game expands a lot the further you get and ties in nicely with all the other BS games.

Great game!. One of the best games available. Gameplay never gets old, upgrades and huge array of weapons keep the game fresh each play, and the last update just added pets and more modes to play. 5 stars, and definitely in my top 10 iPhone games ever.

Pure fun, strangely addictive. I found this game via Crashlands, the much more robust offering from Butterscotch. Just as wacky and entertaining as CL, Quadropus is a nice quick-fix of underwater hijinx. Highly recommended, can't wait to see what's next from this talented team.

Game wont play on ipod 4G- crash bugs. Terrible you guys said you had fixed bugs and yet you still release it with crash bugs. firstly it wont play on ipod 4G and Everything i press on shop in main menu game crashes.. It happens every single time so letting you know so you can update and fix this issue I WANT to PLAY this one PLEASE Edit: now two updates since release and none of them fixed bug to allow it to play on ipod 4G What are you guys doing about that?

Woah... It's like a rouge-like!. This is crazy it's like a rougelike dual stick shooter except it's not really a shooter bc it's melee combat and then the weapons are randomly generated to frickin awesome! Get it and please but IAP to support these guys they're in desperate need of it and they make super high quality stuff with a great sense if humor

Fun Game. It's really addictive but when I played the first time it went smoothly. It crashed once so I thought "it's normal just reopen". I tried for over half an hour trying to open without crash. Maybe it's some bug or whatever but please fix it so I can play again. Other than that best new pastime!

Truly Fantastic!. My favorite "long term playable" app on my iPhone 5s. Many get boring very quickly. Only one crash so far. Safari is less reliable than that. Controls are great. The weapon names are delightful and hilarious!

Very very nice.. The best game I've played for I phone hands down. There's endless fun and multiple combinations for different play styles. I myself like the fast pace blow everything up. Give it a try for sure.

Delightfully Destructive Dives. Okay, so this is a great game. It's funny, it has solid controls, there's a bevy of explosions and weapons and enemies and taunting and bonuses and powerups and pets and seriously, stop reading this and go play it. I'm so sick of reviewing this game because I want to be playing the game. It's THAT good.

Enjoy all these games. This game is what put me on to the whole Butterscotch games. Crashlands is my favorite game in this universe(and many others!) but this one here is addicting when I want to pass a good 6 hours. Love it!

Dam fine game. Combat is bloody well done and the antagonist pete is funny as hell. Well paced with 4 buttons and a virtual stick, masteries let u kill stuff in even more was like making an explosion when u dash or help u recharge ur spin faster. Definitely an instabuy

Dungeon Crawler With a Twist. Wow. What a gem of a game. I downloaded it on a whim, and I'm blown away by it. This unique experience, is a cross between a dungeon-crawling RPG and a "running" game (how far can you get?). The sense of humor and attention to detail make this title what it is. From our protagonists flamboyant walk, to the absurd weapons at your disposable, this is a must play.

Exciting time killer. Love the idea of lowering depths versus levels. Had to butter up and create a login I love it so much. The random weapon/power drop and powerful, title-worthy opponents feels challenging but approachable. I really look forward to the updates to see what they'll expand it to. Good vibes 🙌🏼

Crack-tacular!!!. I was blown away when I found out this game is like 3 years old & I never heard about it. Very challenging, but gets fun after you figure it out a bit. Lots to unlock & upgrade. Can't wait until I've unlocked it all!!

Awesome continued. And one more thing: this app is so creatively funny it's unbelievable. The weapon names crack me up every time I see one, I love the death sequence, Pete's phrases, Grubbies items and humor about his prices, and especially the enemies. Keep the updates coming, much respect from a happy fan!

Very funny game. Here some tips for who wants: Hold dodge buttom cuz its infinity! Playing butterscott games being signned up will give u some bonuses, like, i have two pets that i think i won them from crashlands achivments.

Quadrapus. This game is super fun and addictive. At first I thought losing your stuff and not being able to save was a bad feature but actually makes the game more fun. I also like the random dungeon generation

Dungeon crawler by the sea. This game is a lot of fun. It's like a bite-sized dungeon crawler. The action is fast and the virtual controls are great. A lot of unlocks available to boost your character which makes the game replayability really good. The only issue I have is that the game crashes a lot since the last update. I am playing on an iPhone 5s with the latest firmware update. I would give this game 5* if they fix the crashes.

Fix the upgrades crash plz. Love love love this game, been playing it solidly for over a year. can't wait for the devs' new game, crashlands. But speaking of crashes, can you guys work out that tiny one not allowing us to upgrade our character?

Amazing. I don't know what else to say but that this game is amazing. I have absolutely no problems with this game. It is fun, intense, and action packed. I do hope that they continue to make more games that impress me as much as this one has.

Great game except one thing. Really well done overall and fun to play. However, the edgeless maps really need to go! It's so easy to fall off, especially with the dodge button right next to the attack button. Seriously annoying. Otherwise a great game. Remove the possibility of falling, and if give it 5 stars.

Awesome fun with extremely high replay value!. I grabbed this gem in the morning and have been playing it nonstop ALL day! I can't stop. The graphics are top notch and the controls are tight. You don't have to pay a cent to have a blast pounding through enemies. For a three man team this game is OUTSTANDING!

Fun. App still crashes and icons pops up and it says random letters which made me die at 720 meters. The font is really small on the weapons. I always have to put it close to my eyes so make the font bigger.

Just try out the game!. This game is something different and is purely amazing. Like any game! It will take a couple minutes to figure out. I really enjoy this game and see awesome potential! The game is goofy and has an loveable theme to it. I like the game and have been playing for a year. Just try it out and see for yourself.

Great!. I don't usually review games, but this game is really unique from any game I've played. I have over 400 games on my Game Center that I've tried, but this one is really fun, smart, and keeps you hooked! The only thing that it lacks is a description of the game inside the game. I don't really see why he needs to kill the guy at the bottom. Or if it says, it's not apparent. But it's a fun game that I can't put down!!!

Just amazing. This has to be the best iOS game i have ever had the pleasure of playing. It's just so in depth, with the random depth layouts and enemies. The best part in my opinion is the amount of words crammed in. Weapons and mini-bosses have hilarious names, and the text option "towelfight" makes the in-game part so much funnier.

Dope!!. This game has epic combat and the weapons are so sick half of them make no sense whatsoever but its so awesome they're so random and they drop all the time I can tell I'm going to be playing this for awhile I've been following the devs on twitter and they work really hard it's awesome other indie companies should take notes!!

deepwater horizon'd!. ...and other hilarious flavor text reward you for beating the crap out of your enemies! fast-paced, *perfect* difficulty level, and sweet powerups for a simple follow, tweet, or facebook post. first app i've actually wanted to buy iap for, even if it's not necessary. very well done, STLers...icloud sync would be nice in the next version if you can swing it!

Amazing Game. This is one of the best games I have played on iOS in a long time. Good integration of rogue-like elements and frantic gameplay, with progression and an odd sense of humor. In-game currency comes at a fair pace, but I would consider buying something to support these guys.

Great. Giving it a five star for gameplay, visuals, etc. Problem is, for IPhone users if you log in to ButterScotch ID it crashes at the upgrades screen. Plz fix.

Awesome game. Very addicted and fun. I heard that people have crashes; however, it never did happen on my iPhone 4. The maps and weapons are very creative, and it is a game where you can still enjoy without buying any in app purchase. Won't take too much time to max out the upgrades. Definitely a 5 for me !!!!!

By far the best phone game I've played in years. This game is years ahead of all the candy crush crap that's currently permeating the App Store. This platforming game is mind -bendingly addicting and the dev team makes it apparent that they take a laid back attitude to the whole "we made an app" thing that most companies are too serious about.

Slow Start, Faster Pace. When you first start the game it goes a little slow because you're a noob but once you get going with upgrades, it just adds to the fun! Great game and worth the time you play it.

Jesus tap dancing Christ. This game is awesome. I have played my share of iOS games and this one is the best, tentacles down. Wicked addicting and also quite challenging. I hate writing reviews, but I'll write a 10 page glowing review for this game every day for the next week.

More fun than four arms can handle. All of the games from the bscotch bros. are fun, and this one is no exception. If you like to run around and beat stuff up with zany weapons and funny, quirky gameplay/dialogue, then this game is for you. I recommend.

Awesome but controls are a little slippery. Difficult at first but gets really addicting really fast. Easy to slip off the movement controls though. I find myself trying to go up but going down instead because my finger drifted off the pad a tad too much

Addicting. If you like rouge-like games, this is definitely the best free one you'll find for iOS. It's got tons of variety and you can't stop coming back and playing more because you know that upgrade you just bought will help you to get even further.

Just download already. Excellent game, I rarely review but this game is worth it. Take the time to download it, the graphics are decent, gameplay is good, the atmosphere is entertaining, and best of all, no bugs that I have seen! Easily one of the best free games on the App Store, and come on, it's free! Check it out!

You guys are awesome. I've been playing it none stop since I downloaded it. It makes me want upgrade all my thing on my own. I did buy the starter pack but $2.99 for it for these guys they earned it. I also do plan on buy Crashlands as well. Keep up the good work and hope to see more games from you guys soon.

More fun than.... More fun than a barrel of ravioli! I seriously can't put this game down. Never felt the *need* to spend money but definitely felt the desire to support the developers. I really enjoy my giant butterscotch hammer of gratitude! Nice touch!

I Love this game. but.. As it were its currently having issues opening. I'm not sure if this is because of the new iOS updates or what. But I would love to go back to smashing fishies with different weapons. I do hope this issue gets fixed soon. This game is my main time killer.

Wow. I never give reviews, but this app is worth my review. 5 stars for everything! Couldn't be any better than it already is. Beautiful and stunning, great storyline, graphics are out of this world, the whole concept of the game is wonderful! Just, a big time killing game and a big high five to the developer!

Amazing and warmly familiar.. This game has reminded me of a very fun game I used to play, The Binding of Isaac, now it is not the same. It is as well more kid friendly, but you also play as an octopus instead of a child that is about to be sacrificed so they are fairly similar. But great job, keep improving the already great game.

Favorite game on iOS. Seriously love this game. It's fun to play for 5 minutes or 6 hours straight. Your game has drained the battery on my iPad every day for the last week. Challenging and fun to get weapons with absurd and awesome names.

Only reason I'm giving this 5 stars.... Is because I can't give it 6. One of the BEST games I've ever played on iOS. Ridiculous amount of replay ability. Do yourself a favor and Butter Up as soon as you download it.

Wow. Man this game has just the right amount of loot and different game modes to keep me coming back. Oh and all the mastery unlock type of stuff along with GC achievements is awesome. I don't know what people are talking about with the crashes but it hasn't crashes on me at all. Seriously everyone needs to play this and support these awesome devs!
