I believe in you!!. While I haven’t put substantial time into this application, it so far can run the few games I sought to play on my Iphone (Etrian Odyssey Nexus, puyo tetris). This is the only genuine 3DS emulator on the IOS appstore without having to go through the round about process of side-loading. For the sake of accessibility and shear potential this application has, I would recommend it to anyone whose willing to be a little patient with setup and updates. You got this dev!!

It’ll eventually become perfect. Take your time bro no need to speed up the process just creates more bugs

kinda works. shouldn’t charge $5 for an app that only kinda works on an iphone 14. lots of performance issues. isn’t optimized at all. but i mean at least the games run (kinda). also the joystick location is stupid and annoying and doesn’t make for a very enjoyable experience. for some reason only half of the A button works too, and if you press too far to the right, the device gives you haptic feedback like you’re pushing it, but the input isn’t registered. i originally gave this app 3 stars but lowered it to 2 after playing for more than an hour and realized how frequent crashes are (every 5-10 minutes regardless of my settings). i will give this a better review if they fix the horrendous issues with this app, but until then, don’t buy this garbage.

Great For Pokemon (15 Plus). With a little tweaking, and some internet digging, this app is everything I need it to be. Sure my phone heats up a bit and the game crashes every so often, but I’m sure those things will resolve with time and updates. But if you’re considering this app to play Pokemon, it certainly gets the job done. Just be sure to do your research! There’s Reddit and Discord-goers that would happily help refine your experience. Kudos to the developer for constantly putting in the effort. Making something like this for iPhone ain’t easy folks!

Well worth the money now.. Newest update made a lot more games playable, I’d still recommend a controller because the built in buttons aren’t good (I’d recommend a controller for all emulators anyways) I still love delta and will use delta for Ds and snes emulation but for 3ds folium is really good. I love playing shovel knight on my phone!

Terrible. This emulator is heavily flawed for 3DS emulation I don’t know if it’s my phone but I made sure that my phone was fully up to Date to ensure it would run with the best performance so I have the iOS 18 but I’m using the iPhone 11 Pro so I don’t know if that has something to do with it but I do know it runs really slow on my device and my other emulators work just fine please fix this issue because it’s incredibly slow making the app unusable and frankly a waste of 5 bucks.

I love the emulater BUT. The issue is any type of controller I try to connect even a backbone the screen goes back the game runs smoothly and everything but I’d prefer to play with a controller and it’s not allowing me to do that could you please fix

Doesn't work on iPads. I just bought Folium last night (9/7) with the release that was supposed to greatly improve performance. Installed it on my iPad Pro, which is marked as supported. App launches, but I am unable to get any games to work. Wasted an hour of my time troubleshooting, but unable to resolve. Finally, I tried it on my iPhone and it works fine -- same settings, roms, etc. Did some searching and found others with the exact same problem, so it isn't just me. There are also a ton of bugs that, from what I read, started in this new version. UI is bad, and can't use the import feature. I did some performance tests on my iPhone and it isn't bad, but still not what I would consider perfect. But since I wanted this for my iPad, which is broken, it kind of defeats the purpose. Hopefully they fix this ASAP.

Need help. I had 0 issues playing, one day I get home try to play and I can’t select any games in the menu anymore. Didn’t change a single thing, I just can’t load up game anymore. Tried reinstalling, it won’t even ask me to import the aes keys anymore either. I manually put them in the sysdata folder and the games appear in the menu just fine I just can’t select them anymore, it won’t load up. Just stopped working randomly and can’t seem to fix it or find any guides on how to fix it. If any or the developer sees this and can help, would much appreciate it and would change my rating!

Can’t import aes_key files anywhere on here.. I love the idea of the emulator and now that I have a beans new iPhone 16 I really want to try and get it up and running. Problem is, I know when I had it on my old phone, it asked me to import aes_key files in order for 3dd games to run. Since getting it again on iPhone 16 I see no alert for the files, nor anywhere to import them to the app. This means I can successfully add 3ds games to my library, but I can’t even get them to play.

Hoping the dev fixes up the bugs. Has a lot of promise. But the last update won’t let me enter in any of the games… plus I now have triplicates of each game. I’ve heard good things about the recent update but as of then…. My iPad will have to wait.

PLEASE!!. Please fix these major issues! It’s nice to have a way to save progress between devices, but there are SO MANY issues that make the app unusable! Not only was the feature to change the landscape position taken away, making games like Bowsers Inside Story DX and like every other touch screen dependent game impossible to play in landscape mode, but connecting a controller immediately makes the screen go completely black until you disconnect the controller, making gaming a lot harder, especially for games that require somewhat different inputs like, for instance, Bowsers Inside Story DX!! Now, some changes were (kinda) good, but the issues are too much to the point where I can’t and won’t play it until the next update. Also I think you skipped 1.8 when you went from 1.7 - 1.9

Crashing on Cytrus. So, I can’t load any .3ds rom files on cytrus; it causes the app to crash and shows none of the game cover art. Instead, there’s just some distorted green pixel mess. I tried all the fixes I could find online, such as tweaking the settings and turning off JIT shading (which was off to start with). It doesn’t work. Additionally, SideJIT doesn’t even register this as an app that it can enable JIT for.

Good investment. Got the app awhile back the games were unplayable if you could make it past the loading title screen the recent update makes them “functional” super excited to see what future updates will bring

The apps okay. It’s a little laggy on older iPhone it’s perfect when you optimize it to your phones need but it gets a little laggy

The update makes control pad a joke. I had been playing Pokémon X for the past couple of weeks after buying the app, aside from the pretty regular, out of the nowhere crashes of the whole app, it was too pretty great. And the controls weren’t bad, until this new update. When I try to select the deep pad down button, and when I try to select the B button, it has an extreme delay, which makes you miss opportunities in playing the game. There is some form of overlay problem on the bottom half of the screen, I am playing on an iPhone SE 2022, but this is a joke. Plus every time I press a button now it has haptics that jiggle, and no one ask for that. And as far as I can tell, there’s no way to turn it off, which I really would love to do, it’s extremely irritating and distracting. Please fix the down button on the deep pad, and the B button delays and tell me how to remove these terrible haptics. If you’re going to do an update release, do through testing, I paid money for this, that means I paid money for you to do your job right. Which you are not.

Ok, for now. Each game i have seems to crash after playing for 15 minutes (only one out of seven does not), so maybe the next update will fix this? I also should mention some of them completely freeze in very specific spots of gameplay. Also, what kind of emulator does not have save states? I guess it can be to prevent cheating, but with all these crashes, it would sure be helpful. Also also, i know it will not happen, but i would like a gamecube and wii emulator from here? Of course, JIT is required for these systems, but it would be nice to have a option.

Recent update was awful. The app was amazing until this last update. When I logged on after it auto updated, I opened it only to find that none of my games would load. Even took the L and deleted/redownloaded the app (giving up some save files) and it still didn’t work. Would be happy with the app if it worked but right now it doesn’t load even a single ROM.

Actual waste of time. It’s clear as night and day that without JiT not even the new low end citrus build will not run even on a brand new M2 chip or A17 chips on the latest end iPads air and iPhones and is exactly why dolphin emulator team refused to include there GameCube and wii emulator honestly your better off making a emulator that is far more retro than the 3ds that hasn’t been ported to iOS it’s ridiculous how charging 5 dollars for a not even functional emulator that can kinda play a 2D/3d combo mario game but all be it with audio crackle and to top it i cant even launch a single game on a iPad Pro M1 it just refuses to

Won’t Stop Crashing. When I first downloaded Folium I could get roms to run but the on screen controls wouldn’t disappear when connecting a controller. Controller would work but the on screen controls were still there. Plus changing orientation would often result in the display being moving mostly off screen. Deleted and redownloaded the app and now every time I launch a rom the whole app crashes. I’m using a iPhone 15 pro max and a backbone one

Update. After this app received an update the Cytrus core now works properly! I have been enjoying Pokémon Omega Ruby and One Piece Great Pirate Colosseum. Adjust the core settings to fit your specific device. The core still isn’t fully optimized, so my phone can’t play Pokémon or other large games. However, my iPad which is newer can support almost any game.

Awesome, but wanna tell some people stuff.. So, I’ve been seeing people rate this app like it’s really bad. It’s not the folium devs fault. Stupid apple won’t allow JIT for iOS, for those who don’t know without JIT emulators don’t run very well. Please stop writing bad reviews it’s not the folium devs fault.

Slow. Update 1.12 made it so that every time I try to start the app it crashes on iPad M2 iOS 18.1 beta but 1.13 fixed it and I understand that performance is low but by changing some settings and being patient, it is playable

Interface is not working. I just bought it and literally the interface is mot working at all. I was super excited when I heard this app supports 3DS games, but I don’t even know if I can use the app if it won’t load anything at all. 😭😭😭 Edit: I’m now aware that there’s a reason why, and that a new update is coming soon, so hopefully that gets released and fixes any bugs on iPad! 🙏

One more update to “perfection”. This recent update (sometime within the last few days) + previous update boosted performance a lot!! For context, I have 13 pro max, usually play pokemon omega ruby & ultra moon & occasionally Spider-Man edge of time (purely to test max performance). Only problem is now when I try to use backbone controller the screen goes black. Before, it would show on screen controller with this plugged in, and before that controller-functioning was perfect but the games lagged. So basically the update was 2 steps forward, 1 step back. I’m thinking one more update to fix controller compatibility will make this emulator close to perfect.

Dude, get some help.. I understand needing a mental health break, take all the time you need. That being said, I paid for this app and have been disappointed update after update. Each update seems to fix one problem but cause three more. Can’t play with Backbone as on screen buttons still persist. It just kind of irritated me seeing you celebrate this last update as a success when the app is nowhere near state where I would even consider trying to use it, and now I’m just left waiting again. Get some other developers or something. Either that or pull the app until it’s actually ready. Please.

Unrealistic expectations. Many of these reviews are from people who don’t understand the state of emulation on IOS, and the constant battle this developer is at to just have this app up and running through Apple. There is ABSOLUTELY room for improvement just like any other emulator. The problem is not folium, it’s apples reluctance.

The app is the best 3rd game. However they do need to fix some error with the gameplay but if you just close the app and open back up it will work but some of the game won’t or some of them will glitch so yeah pls update pls make it better

Great but has some problems. This app had been a great experience and I’m glad it runs some of my favorite games well. But hears the bad news when I try to plug in my backbone controller into my iPhone the screen would automatically go to black which is unplayable when not visible, secondly the layout options for how the screens look has now suddenly disappeared which was really nice to have. I really hope this gets fixed soon, I was really looking forward to playing games with my controller.

Good, but some problems. So look, Folium is a wonderful emulator, with the ability to play 3DS games being really cool, but while it's a technical marvel, there are a few bugs. The first one is simple, Folium's D-pad, whilst you should be able to change from pressing right to pressing left like a regular d-pad, Folium's won't let you make that quick change in direction, this is a big problem for 2D platformers like Super Mario Bros, in which you should be able to switch directions in a flash. The next problem is how Folium doesn't import 3DS & NES games on the fly, while you should be able to import those games like the DS, instead, you need to drop the roms into the emulator's ROM folder. And finally, on my iPad, when using landscape, it stretches out the DS & 3DS screens, I don't know why it does this, but it's kind of weird that it happens. So yeah, those are all my complaints.

Audio Problems / Lag. I had some problems with this emulator when attempting to play Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon. Just loading the title screen had so much lag, but I was kind of expecting and willing to compromise on it. What I couldn’t was the audio. It was just a buzzing sound. No matter how much I changed the audio settings and closed the program and app to make sure that it was applied, nothing changed, so I gave up, considering that this costs money unlike the other emulators, I expect a bit more, however as of now, this is the only emulator I could find that can do 3DS on IOS. The game did in fact load. I didn’t want to bother past the title screen albeit. But it is possible. I hope the money that this app gets will be reinvested back to itself to improve itself.

So Frustrating. I payed for this emulator, and tried to play Pokémon x and it just keeps crashing on me. I tried other ROMs and it does the same thing. When I look it up, there’s tutorías that teach you how to import the aes_keys, but those tutorías are apparently older because the interface they show in their videos doesn’t quite look like the one I see in the app, and there’s no place where the app lets me place the aes_keys, I therefore copied the aes_keys file directly into the sysdata folder only to find the games crashing anyway. No one has a solution, no one is taking about it, I’m apparently not the only one experiencing this issue but every time someone asks for help, they’re just ignored.I paid for this. I’m very frustrated.

Needs work but pretty good for what it does.. It won’t play certain games without just-in-time support. It can play some though, like Pokémon oras or fire emblem awakening. Needs cheat options though.

Constant Crashing. I had been using Delta for DS and needed something else to use 3DS. Downloaded this and have been nothing but disappointed. Unfortunately the game crashes non stop, I get a maximum of 10 minutes before a crash. Even with clock down to 10 I have constant lagging. Audio is atrocious, I have resorted to just muting as audio is in a constant state of stutter. Hopefully there is an update soon, reading prior reviews the app seemed to perform better in the past. Until then I will wait to emulate 3DS and go back to Delta.

DO NOT BUY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. This app is absolutely garbage. It doesn’t work at all most of the time, the developer isn’t even in control of all the resources the app uses so when it stops working, which is ALL THE TIME, he can’t even fix it until someone else does it for him. If you join the discord to ask questions you will be talked down to always by the pseudointellectual outcasts the owner brought in as customer support. Absolute garbage pile from top to bottom.

Really improved!. There are a lot of negative reviews from the early days of this emulator, but it has come a long way. I can play most of my games at normal speed and with the addition of multiplayer, I’ve played a certain fighting game with randoms, and traded pokemon as well. It is way cool and I definitely believe it is worth the $5

WORKS FINE WITH CORRECT SETTINGS I WAS ABLE TO PLAY POKEMON SMOOTHLY. I was upset at first because Pokemon was running bad but I google some settings to tune the emulator and it’s running like an actual 3ds and now I can enjoy Pokemon thoroughly best 5 dollars I’ve spent in awhile

Keep going. While with every new update may come a new error or something wrong, with the consistency of the updates I can definitely tell your trying your best to make it as good as possible, keep trying eventually folium will be amazing

Not even worth it. There’s a lot with downloading that you have to do if you want to play any 3ds games. I don’t understand why it can’t run like delta, when was you download a rom to play, you can automatically send the files to delta and play right away. With folium, there’s this whole other process with using izip to un-zip files in order to download them to folium. The whole process is tedious and annoying. I just wanna play old games that I don’t have easy access to anymore

Worth the money now!. Before the update that came out a few days ago I would have said that this was not worth $5, but now that this new update has come out I would definitely say this is worth buying. The only bad thing I have to say is the layout but I know the developer has said they will be fixing it any day now.

Improved performance!!. So I’ve happily played about 25 hours of Animal Crossing New Leaf already, but this new update (9/8) really fixed every problem I was having! The game runs a lot smoother and no more slo mo or glitchy audio. 😎 The settings panel is more streamlined, and the buttons have haptic feedback now. Thanks Jarrod! ✌🏻

Look i paid for the app yes and i appreciate being able to play 3ds games on my phone at all i am also very patient and to be honest for years AppStore never had any emulators only way to get them was slightly difficult it is easier to get them now and appreciate it and i love it and this emulator possesses a-lot of potential but work takes time from the dev and takes patience from the user so i understand i don’t care about the problems every emu started out having a decent amount of problems at the beginning as long as even 3 or 1 game i play on the 3ds emu is working and functional i am happy i have hope that this app will be a great 3ds emu don’t let the others get u down they are just impatient and expect everything to get done quickly without any side effects or problems u just u do u

Good, but needs a LOT of adjustments. I’m running this off of a iPhone 14 and it can barely run, games glitch, every few hours my games will just stop working out of nowhere, games are choppy, and I can’t change the view. Even if I adjust my settings it will implode my app, won’t load any game anymore, just by wanting to enhance my cpu usage and lowering others. And dude I have to install this app 10 times a day just to run OoT. It’s a good start to a good emulator, but don’t release it when it’s this buggy for 4 bucks. Not even worth the price.

Bring back the cheats. I’m willing to pay for you to bring them back like a premium feature or something

Folium. Iv been playing omega ruby and been looking up ways to add cheats to the emulator. Not sure why cheat engine would be removed but the cheat folder is still available to add files to! I do still play the games and enjoy the emulator. I just wish that things wouldn’t be added and then taken away. Still a great platform and I’ll continue to use. Just wish the cheat option would return to make it more user friendly instead of spending 20 hours off and on trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong and why the app is not working only to find out the option was taken away!!!

Not perfect but shows potential. Isn’t running the best but I can totally imagine it getting better over time, also hoping for when smt 4 will run 🙏

Works good. Im on iPhone 14 Pro Max and it works pretty good. It’s a little laggy every now and then but it works fine. The only thing I don’t like is that my phone gets hot and drains battery very quickly. I lost 20 percent in 40 minutes.

Accomplishes what it needs to.. It’s not going to work on older devices, but I understand that it probably takes quite a bit of power to run the emulator. It has bugs, and sometimes, there’s game-breaking updates, but it works. If you expect it to work flawlessly, maybe just get an emulator on your PC. This is the best way to emulate 3DS games on iOS as of right now though.

Too laggy but has potential. The game I opened was Pokemon X, it plays but it’s very slow, low frames, music is very very choppy. Probably won’t play til there’s improvements on the quality. No matter how much I messed with the settings to improve the quality it didn’t really get any better. Hoping with time and updating the game will be more playable and less laggy.

Folium stuck. I deleted Folium & redownloaded and for some reason the only page that pops up when I open the app says Cytrus, Grape & Mango. It only lets me look at core settings for Grape & Mango but looks nothing like when I first downloaded the app. I don’t know why I am stuck on this random page. every time I delete data and redownload it fresh, it’s stuck here.

problem. the app is great and i’m playing tomodatchi life, but when it tells me to add a name to the island, it crashes, can you add a keyboard thingy so i can enter my island name?

Slow and crashing. 3DS Animal Crossing New Leaf works perfectly except for when i’m outside- then it’s super slow and glitchy? and now i can’t even play the game, the entire app crashes on the loading screen :(

Runs bad. Even after the update and using all the recommended settings it’s unplayable on iPhone 14 Pro Max. I tried Mario bros 2 and it felt like moon jumping. Nintendogs sounds AWFUL and is unplayable. No save button either so if you want to play a different game after 5min of suffering through the lag you will lose your progress. I‘ve requested a refund.

Roma not working really well. This is a good emulator for ds and 3ds but my Roms aren’t loading and I really wanna play Tomodachi life maybe it’s me using the wrong Ron’s but idk

Massive potential but lacking. Folium has so much potential to be amazing but it’s just lacking, there’s no circle touchpad which is a big struggle when playing 3DS titles, importing Roms wise its really easy and simple which is much appreciated, but having no built in speed or a way to get back to the menu to change games is a nightmare.

Average. The game not showing when connecting Xbox controller via bluetooth

I can see the potential.. TL:DR -Needs optimisation -update to accurate control scheme -emulator menu during gameplay for save states Downloaded Pokemon Ultra Sun. The game runs okay. A bit laggy in parts. Left controls are a joy stick even though the emulator shows 4 seperate buttons to touch. The controls are setup for a switch and not a 3ds annoyingly. Theres no way to access the menus without closing the app entirely meaning there is no save states so you will need to save the game directly. If these issues are fixed this app would be a 5 star.

Can’t move. I like it, I’m all for it, but how can I move my trainer in Pokemon? There no digital circle pad of am I blind?

Unplayable. Game can only be added in first time. Unable to add/open/play again. Waste money

Does the camera work??. Trying to use a QR scanner in a game. Does the camera work yet?

Can’t use it. No idea how to use it… I’m hoping we are not forced to use various rom folders, that makes no sense, I want to have one folder with sub folders outside of the app on my iPad. Please give us some instructions, thanks.

10/10. This app is beyond amazing, playing my favourite games on my iPhone is a must have! People who complain about the 5 USD price are silly and they are missing out on the best emulation on the app store!

UNPLAYABLE (IPHONE 15 PRO MAX). 3DS emulator is practically in an unplayable state. Multiple bugs and issues with audio and frame rate making it an unpleasant experience and not enjoyable at all. The screen sizes need to be increased and there also needs to be a complete overhaul of the controls, as it feels like a chore to even attempt to play a game. Not to mention multiple crashes and not being able to play nintendogs like bruh i just wanna play some nintendogs but it crashes every time i launch it ):

Works well. May not have the best UI in the world but it does exactly what it’s supposed to and works. Only 3DS emulator on the App Store at the moment.

Pretty good for IOS (Some issues). Folium is not too bad when playing some 3ds titles but it often has major audio issues which usually leads to me just muting the game, which takes away from the experience, and sometimes crashes or freezes randomly. Also, when typing in the game while playing Tomodachi Life, there where many issues with how the typing worked as that game requires the keyboard quite often. Other than, folium is great as i can finally play 3Ds games on the go, as normally i use a PC to emulate. Though its the only 3ds emulator for IOS on the market at the moment, i really hope this app continues to grow, adding more fixes and features.

Not working. I got a 3DS game started but when I press A at the intro it froze. If they patch this up I’ll try again but for $8 it seems like a waste.

Scam. I pad for it opened it and nothing would work at all couldn’t add games no nothing

BETTER THAN EVER. The app has shown a lot of improvement over time and it really shows through how much has been implemented to make for a better experience for users. I only really hope soon we will see gyro support get added sometime in the future, truly top notch work here though. Looking forward to future updates to come!

Follum. When trying to play the 3ds games its is very laggy there a lot of potential

Sad. Disappointed. Regret.. I'm disappointed with this emulator. The game runs laggy, which I can tolerate to some extent. However, there is no configuration button either in-game or out-of-game for essential functions like save states. I also hate the fact that when I was on a call for just 2 minutes, the game reset. If this emulator isn't functioning properly, why am I being charged for it? I can't even play the game I want. I would prefer you delay the launch rather than release an unfinished product.

Amazing. Even though the app can have some issues, the developer actively listens to all issues and tries his best to resolve them. Give the app a few months and it will be even better than it already is but the emulation is good and worth the money you have to buy it for if you have a newer iPhone model

Game freezing (even after update). I downloaded tomodachi life on folium and expected it to run smoothly just like all the other games, however it was so slow and laggy and the worst part is that everytime you open the keyboard (to name your mii) the game compleatly freezes. I cant even get past the tutorial which practically makes this game unplayable. I’m pretty disappointed tbh because I downloaded this app just to play tomodachi life :( I requested a refund because clearly this issue won’t be fixed anytime soon 🤷🏽‍♀️

The games I want to play for 3DS need. They need better support from the app I try to Load Pokemon omega ruby and the audio is off and it’s just unplayable, loads good for a bit then goes bad that is for all the 3DS Pokemon games. I feel like I wasted a purchase on the app just it’s not working for the platforms I want to be playing, makes me want to get a 3DS and just get all the games for it that way That would be Pokemon X & Y, Pokemon Sun & Moon, Pokemon ultra sun and ultra moon, and then omega ruby and alpha sapphire. If they can’t be supported on the app fully, I might as well just have a 3DS.

3ds. When I play Pokemon X or pokemon omega ruby my screen freezes and goes all black and I’m on IPhone 13 can u fix it please ?

Smooth and fast (iPhone 15pm). Best emulator so far especially since it has 3ds support!

Great. Awesome to have 3DS emulation officially on the App Store. However the developer should mention in the app description that 3DS emulation will only run smoothly on newer higher end devices, especially since the app is paid and someone could waste their money buying it when all they have is an older iPhone.

Zelda oot won’t run properly anymore. Before the latest update I could play oot now I can’t it’s 2 slow idk what happened I reset everything but it still won’t work like before it’s stupid

Great start for an IOS 3DS emulator. Seems to play well on iPhone 15 pro max. really hope a fix comes so when you switch to a different app you don’t have to load the entire game again. Make sure you save, or you’ll be sorry haha. i hope this emulator is only a beta stage, and will be worked on. Need more customization like moving controls and a touch joycon, skins, a button to slow move for Pokemon ultra sapphire.

Horrible. Horrible look and won’t even let you play a 3DS game without it crashing a minute later. Horrible for 7cad

Horrible dev. this is the type of developer that will literally put down other developers openly and in public, which is pathetic and childish, and should not go unnoticed as of late Ryujinx and the team is trying to continue its development and Jarrod decides to openly shame them when they haven’t even done anything yet or haven’t even gotten started and post a private discord which led to issues and problems and that was the most childish thing in the world. Plus, this is one of the most poorly designed emulators on iOS. Worth a refund more than anything. I’m done supporting bad emulator developers and awful people.

I can’t import my games. As the title says, I can’t import my games. I shouldn’t have to go through so much hassle just to play a game. It’s a waste of 5 bucks, don’t fall for this

Near perfect!. Runs well on iPhone 13! Little glitchy but it’s to be expected. Only thing missing is an easy way to use cheats! Other than that, it’s perfect!

Good, but needs a few things. This runs pretty smoothly when you apply the right settings (Reddit helps) on a 15pro. After 1.6 update, the app crashes every time you apply a setting change. One more star if we get save states and button transparency control.

Not working at all. If you close the app and try to get back into the game it just black screens, and you have to restart completely useable

So slow and overheats phone quickly. App is so slow it’s near impossible to use even with low settings. I use the IPhone 13 and it’s still impossible to use. Don’t download until it’s more optimized.

What happened?. After the recent update, I can no longer play vertically. The boot time is no longer reliable. There should be the option to make the LB, and RB, all invisible or transparent. Update: game no longer opens. Black screen and closes. Tried to redownload and reset.

3DS support sucks on Mac. Window can't be resized, you need to go to settings to enable keyboard and mouse, and there are no in-app settings, only MacOS settings for the app. As the app is not properly configured for MacOS, its file management is kind of odd and it is not particularly fast. Crashes are rare, but stretched or cropped, sometimes completely invisible windows or game screens, are not. You will need to relaunch the app many times before it works. but it's probably good for non-3DS games, looks like it doesn't focus on 3DS

So far so good!. Seems to run pretty well on my 12 pro max so far, but with the only frame drops coming from texture loading from what I can tell. UI needs work for sure, but it’s serviceable. Played with a backbone and the controls were on the screen still so I don’t know if that was just a glitch, but if not I would definitely like to see the ability to remove the controls from the screen in the future when an external controller is plugged in.

Folium. Logging Mario kart 7 using iPhone 15 pro max I want refund

The bugs are crazy…. It took me about 2 or so hours to set this app up to begin with (delta took me about 10 mins). When I FINALLY got it set up, I imported a game and I can now no longer open the app at all. It just instantly crashes. I’ve redownloaded the app and still can’t get in it. Keep in mind I have a 512GB iPhone 14 Pro Max. I’m genuinely upset I spent $7+HST CAD to literally have an app I can’t even open. Just gonna pray for a delta update for 3ds at this point… [PS I managed to run 1 game I had from delta already on folium (Pokemon Black 2) and even after fidgeting with settings, it runs horribly… again I’m just gonna stick to delta, it runs games fantastic, easy set up, and easy use with great functionality] or maybe folium will step it up to make a functioning app. We need bug fixes and to actually be able to run games properly.

Game disappeared when reopen the app. The worst emulator I’ve used. After imported my game, the next time I open the app, the game is gone. And I cannot import it as normal

Nothing else like this but the recent update has issues. It’s the only app to emulate 3ds at the moment but the recent update makes it not work on my iPad. My iPhone 12 works and has gotten a performance uplift from the this update though

Not worth your money or time. Waste of time and money better off going with Delta and waiting for a 3DS update there… completely junk and can find better

UI needs updating. Other than the horrible UI everything is good. The UI doesn’t even have the proper controls for the 3DS. It looks like a teenager just learning coding tried to make the UI

DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE IPHONE 12 OR BELOW. First of all, setting this emulator up is an extremely tedious process. And anytime you go to make a change in the settings the app closes itself And the main problem, is that if you have an iPhone 12, 11 or an iPhone X it runs extremely poorly and choppy, even when changing settings I’ve spent at least an hour changing and tweaking all of the settings on the app to get a better performance and nothing works. The audio is stretched and weird and it runs at what feels like 10 FPS.

Great to see 3DS on iOS. It runs pretty great on the 15 Pro Max. Pokémon games run at near full-speed (very playable), and I’ve had a good time playing Ocarina of Time for 3DS too. If you’re on an older device, your mileage will vary, but Apple is pretty lenient with their refund policy, so keep that in mind if you’re concerned about wasting any money on the app. As far as UI goes, it’s pretty basic and missing some basic features like returning to the Home Screen or layout screen options, but I’ve got it on good authority to say that these are being worked on and will hopefully be added in the coming weeks!

Its okay. Its a real emulator, lots of 3DS games crash on launch however Controller UI is pretty bad

Fix the keyboard. It keeps soft locking in tomadachi life cause the text I enter is too long.

Folium 1.5 update. This version makes it almost impossible to use this app, as the touch screen controls became smaller and more sensitive. The developer needs to allow the users to customize the touch screen controls or allow them to make the controls bigger. Also, you can’t rotate between landscape and portrait orientation without going into settings every time, which is really annoying.

Keyboard glitch and freezing. I’ve been trying to play tomodachi life on folium and have been so excited for folium to be released but I can’t get passed the making mii stage without my game freezing on the keyboard. The keyboard also overlaps and puts what was typed from the past into a box I’m trying to write in. I really want this to be fixed.

Good but... It’s a great App. I played Pokemon X and Pokemon Conquest. The intro is very laggy for Pokemon X. When I went to the amine section. It crashed. Please update!!! Looking forward to play the other games.

Update. After this app received an update the Cytrus core now works properly! I have been enjoying Pokémon Omega Ruby and One Piece Great Pirate Colosseum. Adjust the core settings to fit your specific device. The core still isn’t fully optimized, so my phone can’t play Pokémon or other large games. However, my iPad which is newer can support almost any game.

It's okay I guess. I was so excited to play Style Savvy Trendsetter on my phone but after a certain period of time, no matter what, the app crashes. In Style Savvy, you have to save before you leave the game which means i lose all of my progress every time it crashes and it's extremely frustrating. if this was a free app i'd be a little more lenient and understanding but i paid $5 for this app to be mediocre at best.

Gets better every update. This is honestly the best 3DS emulator on iOS rn and with added ps1 makes it better. Even with that this emulator does have some current issues like the touch pad isn’t the best or the screens mess up when you put your phone sideways for 3DS games but that can all be fixed.

Apps Not Working. How did I update the app for it to get worse? The issue at the moment is mainly just that the games aren’t uploading for me anymore. I’ve tried everything from redownloading the game or even deleting the app and reinstalling it-it just doesn’t work. The worst part about this is, the games that already have on here are gone and I had this downloaded before the save files were implemented, so I lost all my data and now games aren’t being imported.

FOLIUM DOES WORK JUST SPECIFIC SETTINGS. Folium works perfectly fine on my IPhone 13 Pro Max and I had to tweak so many settings to achieve the quality of gaming I wanted and after about an hour or two, I finally made it work and I’m currently having so much fun on Super Mario 3D Land !

Hood but can be better. If if I am being honest, I didn’t think it was going to be that good based on the reviews, but it actually runs pretty solid. I had to tweak some of the settings, but I am able to get a link between worlds running more than playable. amazing experience for what it is, but there is room to grow. I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

its alright i guess. i had this emulator for a few months, worked fine until a couple weeks ago when my games started disappearing (i still have the ROMS on my phone) and so i deleted the app and redownloaded it to see if it worked which in fact did NOT work, i even redownloaded the ROMS and to no avail it still didnt work, so i dont recommend paying for this emulator

Great, but could use some tweaks. I bought the app mainly because it could emulate 3DS. I’ve been playing Pokémon X and there is some stutter (as expected, iPhone 13). My main issues however is that loading save states from some games crashes the app sometimes and that making a custom layout is very confusing. If those are fixed, 5 stars.

3ds games not showing, ds games not running. This app used to work fine when I used it a while back. But for whatever reason, when I install a 3ds rom, it adds Cytrus to the list of consoles but the game doesnt show up. And also, when I try to open a DS, game, with MelonDS, it just buzzes and is stuck on a white screen, and with the other core option, just crashes the app. Very confused, plz fix.

Layouts Broken. Love the fact that I can play 3ds on my phone. However, I can’t play the game in landscape mode or connect a controller because the layouts simply DONT WORK. No matter what the setting is, when I launch the game it will come out in the default portrait layout. There’s also no way to customize my controls of my controller. Very disappointing considering this costs money and other emulators are free and much better, but just don’t offer 3ds option

Love this app but with the latest update its not showing both of my roms anymore only one. I have them in the same folder, same file type. Now only one of my pokemom games shows up on the dashboard.

Won’t Stop Crashing. When I first downloaded Folium I could get roms to run but the on screen controls wouldn’t disappear when connecting a controller. Controller would work but the on screen controls were still there. Plus changing orientation would often result in the display being moving mostly off screen. Deleted and redownloaded the app and now every time I launch a rom the whole app crashes. I’m using a iPhone 15 pro max and a backbone one

Pretty solid. I’m using a regular iphone 13 and overall the performance is solid and I have been able to play a lot of old games I used to play on my 3ds, I just wish they had multiplayer for some of the Pokemon games so I could battle my friends

DO NOT BUY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. This app is absolutely garbage. It doesn’t work at all most of the time, the developer isn’t even in control of all the resources the app uses so when it stops working, which is ALL THE TIME, he can’t even fix it until someone else does it for him. If you join the discord to ask questions you will be talked down to always by the pseudointellectual outcasts the owner brought in as customer support. Absolute garbage pile from top to bottom.

Great for pokemon. Everything is great no lag if your on a good phone the only problem is the audio it will glitch sometimes and it can make your phone hot quickly but the gameplay is fun for pokemon and the controls are very easy

Accomplishes what it needs to.. It’s not going to work on older devices, but I understand that it probably takes quite a bit of power to run the emulator. It has bugs, and sometimes, there’s game-breaking updates, but it works. If you expect it to work flawlessly, maybe just get an emulator on your PC. This is the best way to emulate 3DS games on iOS as of right now though.

Be Patient. Seeing a lot of 1 star reviews, which to me doesn’t seem particularly fair considering that this is a VERY new (less than a year old) emulator. Obviously performance isn’t going to be amazing across the board yet. It’s a solid proof of concept and $5 is a small price to pay to support a developer working on a project you’d like to see succeed. Literally the price of a cup of coffee.

DON’T PAY FOR THIS. Got this because everywhere online said this was the best 3DS emulator on iPhone, and I really wanted to replay Pokémon Y. But this app is terrible, it doesn’t work. Even for Mario games. It just Crashes everytime you launch a game. It’s not my roms, same stuff works on my laptop with Citra but this is just bad. And it’s not even Free. YOU HAVE TO PAY AND it’s not even auto configured and the games just crash! Now I have to email to try and get a refund. Such a waste of time. Very disappointing. I hope Delta makes a 3DS core because this is doo doo butter.

Worked up until today, why would you break the app?. Been using it without many issues for a few months, but today I opened the app to finish a game I had been playing and everything was deleted in the latest update. I understand that these things can be finicky to program and will have bugs, but deleting everything seems like something that should’ve been caught before releasing to the App Store.

Doesn’t work anymore.. Since the recent update, all of my roms and save states have disappeared and it will no longer let me open or load any roms. When I hit “open” on the roms, nothing happens. It stays blank and will not let me load anything. I have reset my device and tried re downloading the roms and still nothing. It used to work great, now nothing works at all. Any help on this would be appreciated. This was my absolute favorite emulator and now I can’t even use it.

Unrealistic expectations. Many of these reviews are from people who don’t understand the state of emulation on IOS, and the constant battle this developer is at to just have this app up and running through Apple. There is ABSOLUTELY room for improvement just like any other emulator. The problem is not folium, it’s apples reluctance.

Improvement for sure!. Have previously left a long review and have just added updates. At this point the emulator is in. Much better place and almost all of my personal issues and concerns have been addressed. The major thing that is needed is the ability to create save states and load states. Sometimes it crashes, save states are necessary. (iPhone 16 pro max)

Works well ONLY on M4 iPad Pro or higher.. This is a great emulator if you have the muscles to run it. I’ve been gaming on the iPad Pro M4 1tb option with 16gb Ram and 10core CPU/GPU and most games run smoothly. However there are some games that start and the crash in the same place no matter the settings used or the Rom version. This leaves me to believe this is a bug on the emulator that needs fixing. Outside of that it works as intended for 3DS games.

Its okay. I just got an iphone 16 pro max i previously had an iphone se 3rd gen which is where i originally bought it and no matter how much i tweaked with the settings and cpu it always lagged Pokemon but now on my new phone i tried 25 cpu and it ran pokemon omega ruby pretty good i would say like on original hardware with a few framedrops when switching around but i would recommend if you have a good phone if not sideload it and enable JIT

Terrible. This emulator is heavily flawed for 3DS emulation I don’t know if it’s my phone but I made sure that my phone was fully up to Date to ensure it would run with the best performance so I have the iOS 18 but I’m using the iPhone 11 Pro so I don’t know if that has something to do with it but I do know it runs really slow on my device and my other emulators work just fine please fix this issue because it’s incredibly slow making the app unusable and frankly a waste of 5 bucks.

Awesome. It works flawlessly you just need to invest some time into learning the app. However it would be awesome for dev to allow us to map buttons inputs from physical controls to the touch screen areas for more customization and ease 10/10 purchase def worth it!

TRASH. I’m giving this a five star so it can be seen but this app is trash no offense to who made it I understand you’re working on it but if that’s the case it should be free making people pay 5$ for a crashing app is a bit much I requested a refund for this horrible app

It’s pretty decent. Folium emulator is an emulator (obviously) but I really can’t recommend it if you can’t use the basic file system as my fellow reviewer stated. I found myself having trouble actually getting it to work. If you want better multi system emulation use delta, (remember! Delta has no 3ds!)

Great but it has its issues. It freezes for games such as mario kart 7 super mario bros 2 and even ultimate nes remix and btw i have an ipad 9 PLEASE FIX THIS but tomodachi life is the only one that works well wait no that freezes if you put to long letters just put a error saying too much letters try something shorter (thanks if you fixed all of that)

Some games doesn’t work. Some games like why it runs really slow other games like Mario and Luigi superstar saga plus Bowser minions doesn’t have the characters showing only particle effects and the background as well as text boxes. And some games have certain parts like the camera and the microphone doesn’t want to work take flip note studio 3-D for example example this thing really needs to have an update

New update bug!!!. The new update added two new buttons to the screen, well those buttons cover the screen itself and not only make it impossible to press some things, one is an auto crash meant to be the home button that gives no second chance if you accidentally bump it. Absolutely terrible and unplayable as of right now.

Close to being a great app. I’m not gonna comment on most of the issues that are already in the reviews. This app works great when I’m using my joy con controllers, but there needs to be someway to customize the touchscreen controls because they make playing the 3ds games almost impossible. basically, just the way where I can place the buttons where I want them. Love the app keep up the great work.

Keep going. While with every new update may come a new error or something wrong, with the consistency of the updates I can definitely tell your trying your best to make it as good as possible, keep trying eventually folium will be amazing

Interface is not working. I just bought it and literally the interface is mot working at all. I was super excited when I heard this app supports 3DS games, but I don’t even know if I can use the app if it won’t load anything at all. 😭😭😭 Edit: I’m now aware that there’s a reason why, and that a new update is coming soon, so hopefully that gets released and fixes any bugs on iPad! 🙏

Constant Crashing. I had been using Delta for DS and needed something else to use 3DS. Downloaded this and have been nothing but disappointed. Unfortunately the game crashes non stop, I get a maximum of 10 minutes before a crash. Even with clock down to 10 I have constant lagging. Audio is atrocious, I have resorted to just muting as audio is in a constant state of stutter. Hopefully there is an update soon, reading prior reviews the app seemed to perform better in the past. Until then I will wait to emulate 3DS and go back to Delta.

Improved performance!!. So I’ve happily played about 25 hours of Animal Crossing New Leaf already, but this new update (9/8) really fixed every problem I was having! The game runs a lot smoother and no more slo mo or glitchy audio. 😎 The settings panel is more streamlined, and the buttons have haptic feedback now. Thanks Jarrod! ✌🏻

Too many bugs/crashing especially for a paid app. Some games crash whenever a keyboard input is required. Somebody uploaded a fix to this glitch, but with most recent update the fix no longer works. Will come back and edit review + give more stars if/when bugs are fixed which make games unplayable

Games no longer opening. Before I start this before the update it was working PERFECTLY. I dedicated a lot of time to Tomodachi life and my super mario bros game. Now I cannot even play any of my games. Everytime I load a game it’s stuck on a white screen. I don’t know what to do. I haven’t been able to play since the update and I just want to play my games again. Please please please fix it :(

Not to be mean. Not to be mean but folium has had some audio issues where the audio is breaking up. Also very laggy video quality. Just a little suggestion for a next update to fix the lag and choppy audio quality. Pls consider this review as some feedback

Unfortunately completely unplayable. I did a lot of reading reviews on external sites to find a good 3DS emulator, it seemed like this is worth the purchase, but unfortunately, after spending over an hour just to figure out how to launch the ROMs, they’re all close to unplayable. I spent hours tweaking the settings, finding different installations of the ROMs, and even testing them on other emulators, and there was no way to fix the issues on this emulator, that I could find at least. I had really high hopes, thought it was wroth spending the money, and it just doesn’t hold up.

Well worth the money now.. Newest update made a lot more games playable, I’d still recommend a controller because the built in buttons aren’t good (I’d recommend a controller for all emulators anyways) I still love delta and will use delta for Ds and snes emulation but for 3ds folium is really good. I love playing shovel knight on my phone!

The loading screen. I’m givin it a 4 because I know it have a potential to be one of them good apps and i believe it will get better. Can you fix the loadin screen I was playin Pokemon ultra moon and I had take photo with my Pokemon and when I talk to her and to take a photo it just pitch black wouldn’t let me do anything can you please fix it

The best!-… but….. I have been using this to play tomodatchi life but the new update has a slight problem…THE KEYBOARD DOESNT WORK…I have looked for a solution and absolutely nothing im sorry folium devs but please fix!!! Insane. Writing this review from an iPhone 16 pro max, this little app is pretty incredible. It works quite well that I can play my games that I’ve bought including smash bros, super Mario, Metroid, Mario kart 7, and looking forward to attempting a few others soon. As the only 3ds emu on iOS as of rn, well worth the $5 with a iPhone 16 pro max and the right settings tweaked

Not even worth it. There’s a lot with downloading that you have to do if you want to play any 3ds games. I don’t understand why it can’t run like delta, when was you download a rom to play, you can automatically send the files to delta and play right away. With folium, there’s this whole other process with using izip to un-zip files in order to download them to folium. The whole process is tedious and annoying. I just wanna play old games that I don’t have easy access to anymore

…. Pokémon moon does work great, but pretty rhythmic service and primary series does not works. I hope it will be fixed soon. Because before update, though it cracked, worked, but not it won’t. It always cracks on loading page. Thank you Okay, it fixed by turning off shader, but new problem occurred. When I have to type nickname, no popup and game stop. This is a serious problem.

Really improved!. There are a lot of negative reviews from the early days of this emulator, but it has come a long way. I can play most of my games at normal speed and with the addition of multiplayer, I’ve played a certain fighting game with randoms, and traded pokemon as well. It is way cool and I definitely believe it is worth the $5

A lot of Hard Work here. This emulator has come a long way in the time that it has been released. There’s a few bugs here and there, and it’s definitely not perfect. However, it does run (almost) anything I run on it. This is a one-man development, and the time and effort for all of this to be possible is simply incredible. Keep up the good work, and please iron out the bugs.

Actual waste of time. It’s clear as night and day that without JiT not even the new low end citrus build will not run even on a brand new M2 chip or A17 chips on the latest end iPads air and iPhones and is exactly why dolphin emulator team refused to include there GameCube and wii emulator honestly your better off making a emulator that is far more retro than the 3ds that hasn’t been ported to iOS it’s ridiculous how charging 5 dollars for a not even functional emulator that can kinda play a 2D/3d combo mario game but all be it with audio crackle and to top it i cant even launch a single game on a iPad Pro M1 it just refuses to

Needs improvement. I play pokemon aloha sapphire and besides overheating my phone and draining my battery at unseen levels (delta NEVER does this) it crashes every now and then, especially when i check my pokemons’ summary or try to teach them new moves, which is essential to game play. The second I’m done with this game I’m uninstalling this app and will find new ways to play newer games that delta doesn’t support
