Nope, nope and nope. Not working and the instructions are TERRIBLE! The instructions in the manual, also not helpful. When you click "app support" it takes you to a site that's in Japanese with no prompt to select language.

NO! STOP!. This only redirects you to the Samsung Smart Home app, which DOES NOT WORK! I tried repeatedly to connect my new Samsung flex washer to my iphone 8, and it NEVER would connect!

What a waste. This app is so poorly designed. Looks like it has never been updated since the 2000s. Doesn’t connect properly and is a total waste once you do get it connected after 15+ try’s. Washer and dryer are amazing but the app is 1 star.

Wow yeah. I saw the other reviews and figured hey maybe I can still try it out. Nope. Complete waste of my time. I have a fairly new model washer and the app doesn't work with it at all. It won't even allow me to connect because it says to "download the Samsung Smart Home app"; which my washer isn't compatible with. PLEASE FIX THIS SAMSUNG, this is what's making consumers not want your products. It's ridiculous.

Washer. Loved my washing machine until their employees were sent to change washer top as it was said to be able to come loose and cause bodily harm..... now everytime I wash a load of clothes they come out with trash particles on them..... tried to send pictures of items but unable to contact Samsung..... why couldn’t they have sent experienced people..never had that problem before......now can’t even send my review.........

Impressive how bad it is. For a company that makes electronics, this app is incredibly bad. It honestly looks like they hired someone with no experience and completed it in an afternoon. It might not be such a big deal if the manual that came with the machines were useful, but it relies on the use of this app to answer questions which is obviously the incorrect thing to do

Display problems. The app in iPhone X appears to be bad design and graphics and fonts merged together I was unable to read it clearly. The app has less information as an app than manual ( that’s also a problem ) the product has no specific details so you can connect the device with. Mostly elementary mistakes in design that appears to be such low quality of design and money wasted.

Worst App I have ever used. This App is terribly designed it does NOT work as the devices keep needing to be re paired to the software . I hope samsung took the team that designed this behind a barn and shot them . HORRIBLE brand experience.

Will not connect at all. Makes you sign in every time you change screens even if you check stay signed in this app is absolutely worthless

Tech Unworthiness. This is the explanation provided if one needs to use the App to diagnosis a problem (Smart Care) “depending on the situation. 1. Turn the power off and on and then press the Smart Care button and hold for 3 seconds before 10 seconds is passed after turning the power on again. 2. If a problem occurs in the washing machine, immediately press the Smart Care button. For more information, refer to the user manual.” What !!!! Does Samsung have anyone technical who proof reads their instruction FYI The App crashes immediately when use in this function

Smart dryer. I have three Samsung appliances at any given time at least one of them is not working. And worst if you call costumer care the first thing they want is a credit card number. Worst customer care ever.

Pointless. Just for the record, I AM able to sucessfully connect my devices to both my washer and dryer. The app still gets only one star, as it works so poorly, it's frustrating. None of the controls actually work, and while the timer does display, it never alarms, regardless of the settings I choose. The one star is for what appears to be great potential. If only it did what it purports to. Did I mention it 'forgets' the WiFi connection on a regular basis?

Samsung please read!. This app works about as good as my new dryer. Both are broken. If the app isn’t ready for prime time, just pull it and fix it. Virtually everyone has problems with this app. Please fix it and also please make better products. Thx.

IFTTT not fully supported!!!. Need to integrate smart dryers to work with IFTTT like most other Samsung smart appliances. Paid lots of $$$ to get smart devices from Samsung, to find out their apps are useless and not all products support IFTTT!

Wasted money on these appliances. So I spent over 20k decking my house out in all the “latest and greatest” Samsung smart appliances. I wish I had read these reviews first because literally none of it works I have a fridge, range, hood scoop vent, washer and dryer and nothing connects properly - I have 5 different Samsung apps all of which require accessible sign ins (almost every time I change screens) and I can’t get anything accept the driver to connect. The range temporarily from time to time but washer and dryer and hood vent never have waste of 25k

One star. I’m only giving this a one star because I wish you could use it like the Smart things app. My laundry is in my basement so it would be nice to know when my washer is done without having to go down to check or set an alarm. I like the smart things app because it tells me when my fridge door is opened and closed. I just wish this one was the same.

Of zero stars were possible.... You would get more use out of the app if it had a fake aquarium as its feature. This is just bad design. It will not connect to the wifi, even though my model does have the connectivity. The app support is no help as well. It is a useless app.

I’m surprised.. Genuinely surprised at how advanced Samsung can be as a developer but how lacking they can be in software. Their app is garbage, simply describing the exact same thing as the Washer and Dryer manuals say themself. They skimp on putting ANY tech in the washer and dryer screen, and expect you connect it with a poopy stinky app like this, good luck.

Phone App. Why even download the “Smart” phone app when it’s excessively stupid???

It’s doesn’t connect but the self-diagnostics works. They connecting is bull and the self diagnostic work kinda. When u line it up to the green and red , the app gives up and just shows a picture if that’s what’s on the washer . If they just had the different emotions that indicated how the washer is on the manual, that would have been way better.

Nope. It didn’t work a year ago and it doesn’t work now. Samsung, you are doing your patrons a huge disfavor by continuing to offer an app that fails on all levels. Fix it or get rid of it.

Great washer. This is my 2nd Samsung washer & dryer. My clothes are very clean & whites are white. Use sanitizer for whites & heavy for dirty jeans. I use best laundry detergent Persil ... never bleach For white I use an extra Pod with detergent. Love my clean clothes

Essentially useless. Having to carry my iDevice up to the washing room to activate the "Smart Control" button on the washer or dryer is stupid. Samsung doesn't get it. The device is useless for a gas dryer -- it is monitor-only, which makes no sense for indoor use. What could I possibly do with this app that I couldn't do 50 feet from here at the dryer's front panel? Blow the house up? Maybe someone at Samsung will get a clue and make the app have some useful functionality.

Was terrible, now useless as of Dec 2021 update. The notifications never worked, but you go proactively monitor the progress of the washer and dryer cycles. Now they “updated” the app to not monitor at all. They completely removed the only useful part of the app. No other app they make connects to my washer and dryer. Never buy a “smart” washer and dryer from Samsung. They don’t give a rip about this part of their business.

Delete this app off the store. After following directions in manual to download this app, nothing worked at all. What’s the point?

A good reason NOT to buy Samsung Washer!. Useless app! Paid $29 each for washer/dryer USB sticks and nothing works. Thought this was a way to monitor or. I trip appliances. It is not. Also has vague & confusing setup instructions. Stop selling it, or fix it!!

What a waste. Samsung, shame! Returned the devices. Ridiculous you have to pay extra for them anyway. Too much hassle trying to connect.

If I could give zero stars. I outfitted my house with all the newest appliances in 2013 that Samsung had to offer, the apps were glitchy at best. Recently I went to relook at the apps and found that they aren’t even available anymore for the models of appliances that I still own. They figure you’ll spend $25k on appliances then when they changes all the apps and make them obsolete then you will just rebuy all the appliances so you can use the new app they offer. Um no. These are the last Samsung products that I will buy. Over the years I’ve had many and they don’t support any of their earlier products. You can’t find the parts to fix them, you get no support at all. I would rather buy from any other company than this one, and let me tell you, my whole house is covered head to toe with their products. As each issue arises with each one, I replace it with a non Samsung brand. Just because a model is an older one shouldn’t mean that the company who made that model should abandon it. The products don’t last, then when you need to fix them the parts have become obsolete, then when you try to get support it’s a joke because there isn’t any. They just send you in circles instead of telling you they can’t help you.

Can't get connected to wifi is model WA48J7700AW supported? The manual says it is. Can't get the AP mode on the washer The manual it came with says it is capable

Terrible: could not figure out how to rate less than one. Completely worthless. What would be nice? Finding the appliance. If that worked, then a notification that you've forgotten to move clothes to the dryer.

Doesn’t work. Can’t set up the appliance using iOS 14.2 even after connecting to the SMARTWASHER access point as instructed. The app just doesn’t work at all.

Useless. I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones, but this one deserves it. Pairing the washer and dryer is quite a process and once it’s done it says “[appliance] power off or smart connect disabled,”although I’m standing right in front of the appliance that is both on and has smart connect enabled. Haven’t been able to get passed that so I can’t even speak to any functions it is supposed to have. FYI: I’m very tech savvy so this isn’t a user error.

Does not connect to washer at all.. I called support as soon as I got the washer Sept 6 ,2017 but no reply at all since my multiple attempts except a chat session which resulted in rebooting the machine and following instructions that were in the handbook as if I didn’t try that. Issue is still not resolved and dealing with horrible support for all of their devices including their cellphones is not fun. Do not buy. Go for anything else. Not worth it.

Never worked and I'm a techie. This has never actually connected, I don't think it's possible and if you do it doesn't offer any functionality. If this was a small company you'd call it a fraud but I can't understand why Samsung would create something so awfully broken. NOTHING SMART HERE

Poorly written and not working well!. It is so difficult to get the washer configured and connected and the app is totally inadequate. Bad instructions, not enough help, complex and bless your soul if you phone Samsung Support! This can not be called a Smart Washer, really. More work must be put into the development and design.

Rubbish. Rubbish app. Machine will only connect on 2.4Ghz. Great idea but totally inoperable. User manual also completely inadequate.

Such promise, but so little delivered. The app only gives you a subset of the cycle types available on the machine. It doesn't even allow a wash/dry cycle. It also requires you to press a smart control button on the machine before use which then turns off after one cycle (so you can't do a wash them a dry for instance). No ability to monitor the wash if you haven't pressed the button either. Could have been a good app - instead it's just useless.

Rubbish app. Has never worked.. Has never worked once with my washer. To use it, you also have to enable a mode on the washer which locks the controls on the and door on the washer, meaning you can only control it from your mobile device whilst in this mode. For this era of tech, I should be able to remotely connect in from anywhere to check the status of the current wash.

Doesnt do much and poor quality. Only checks error code displayed on the LCD, which you can also check via manual. Not really a smart app, doesn't work always.

UPDATE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!. This app needs an update ASAP! The washer and dryer are great but considering they are a product of Samsung I would assume the app would follow. When you exit the app it does disconnect but it will reconnect when you search for it again since the washer's wifi is still on. One thing I would LOVE for the updated app to include is the ability to customize the washing/drying cycle to your preference like you can do manually on the washer/dryer itself. If I want a specific cycle such as "Heavy Duty" I'd like to be able to change the water temperature from "hot" to "cold" on my phone, or add an extra spin etc. This would definitely be an added bonus!

Was working poorly. Now doesn’t work. The old version felt like it’s from 1998, but still somehow I could see my washer/dryer and check remaining time. Now it’s all “Smart” check, which is not supported by my machines, so I lost the only function that somehow worked on wifi. The machines are 9yo so don’t get any firmware upgrade anymore, of course…

Useless as is. App would have been much more useful if only it did notifications and wash status and nothing more. Remote starting of washers and dryers are not only impractical in addition to safety issues. Listen to your customers and give then a new app that only does status and do away with the required smart control button at the machine and all the discount issues.

What’s the point?!. New washer/dryer do thought I’d follow recommendations. After the Country selection, the app offers no other options - no add equipment, no choose anything… USELESS APP! If you want to offer this for your equipment, you should make sure it works first!

Great idea, but needs work. I've setup a wireless router in the basement and had no connectivity issues. However, the app is extremely limited. You can only chose from the factory preset cycles. There is no way to customize anything (e.g. heavy duty, with cold water instead of hot). What is worse is that if you don't start the machine with the app, you cannot connect to it, no info on status (e.g. How long to finish) or anything. I'm hoping Samsung will provide more options, until then it is pretty useless.

Not so smart. So I bought a Samsung washer and dryer. Been trying to hook it up through the apps they told me to use.. smart home doesn’t work for iPhone users... so Samsung call centre said download smart things app. I bought the USB things for the washer and dryer I even bought the hub thinking that was the problem.... nope still won’t connect. So I thought this app my help... not still doesn’t connect. So frustrated with Samsung

Keeps disconnecting. I can get the app to work to start the load of wash but it is always disconnected before the wash finishes. The idea is neat and I hope Samsung figures out how to fix this soon.

Smart Check makes this unusable. This app was working just fine for me, until Smart Check was added. Now it forces you to scan the Smart Check, which my washer doesn’t have. Really upset that I can no longer use this app.

Pointless. I own a top of the line washer and top of the line tv from Samsung and both have terrible app user experience and app support. I actually considered switching to a samsung galaxy and these apps are proof that samsung does not produce quality integrated products the way apple does. Samsung's smart products are in reality, just dumb.

Don't bother. No apparent way to get an iOS notification at end of washer or dyer cycle.

So much potential.....wasted - and still no improvement. So it’s almost 2 years later and there has been no change/improvement other than to introduce a 2nd app, with an ‘alternative way’ to connect - the Smart Home app. Neither work. I’ll know in future to request a money back guarantee anytime a buy a major appliance with ‘smart’ features. Clearly this app wasn't given any user testing as it is so clunky to use it's embarrassing. Why do I need to pick between Indoor and Outdoor control? Surely the app can figure out if I'm on the same Wifi network as my appliances and select the appropriate connection method. Having to authenticate every time I open the app and choose the outdoor connection method, really? And having to authenticate separately for the washer and the dryer? Please, please, please go talk to some real users and understand how we want to use this app. Is it really too much to ask to have a simple 'dashboard' which shows your registered devices and current status and time remaining? Then just tap any individual item to get the more detailed info. And why oh why once the cycle is finished and the machine powers off, does that also mean that you can't connect to it? (so if you were away from your wifi network and missed to completion alert, you can't double check status) Hopefully these misses can be corrected in updates.

Huge disappointment. Whoever thought up the washer/dryer functionality should be fired. I need to pair my phone and washer each wash cycle and 99% of the time I do not get notification of cycle completion. I paid $100 more for wifi on my washer and it's completely useless.

Not there for primetime yet! It's a useless piece of crapware :-(. It's a touch and go. Sometimes works sometimes don't depending on when the version was updated. Trying to search my washer indoor as well as outdoor. It cannot even locate my washer in the app even if they are on the same network. This was working last month. Outdoor detects the washer on when the app is enabled on washer console, but fails to connect telling me the washer is turned off, or off the network. Well, the app detected it just a moment ago, Duh??

Bill. I would rate 5 stars if app had a timer function. It should allow you to preset a start time for the washer. Please fix!

No purpose for app. The only reason you would want an app for a washer/dryer would be to receive an alert at the end of a cycle. Unfortunately, this app can't do this simple and what seems like a straight foreword task. The worst part is that the majority of people that read this review will already own this washer/dryer and is stuck with the very crappy app.

iPhone 6 incompatible? Seriously???. I was so excited to use this app to keep an eye on what my washer is doing as it is located in the basement. After half an hour of trying to get the app to locate the machine, I see that iPhone 6 isn't even supported! C'mon, Samsung, really? Please update this app and make it compatible with current iPhone models and also easier to set up, as others who have managed to connect their appliances seem to have other issues as well. It's really a shame that an app that has the potential to be really useful has only one-star reviews.

Worthless. It won’t even connect! Very user unfriendly

A lie. It is all hype and bs. Very poor website to register and several steps to get the washer or dryer to work. I had them both working, and the washer stopped connecting to the internet, and I had to unplug it every time to congigure the wifi all over... then the phone app would never recognize the washer in my device list. Repeated calls to service techs when finally one said the the app does not work with iphone 4S when this site clearly says that it does. A load of crap and waste of money and time.

I'm a techie-and this works terribly!. Often you read reviews and you wonder if there is user error or misunderstanding. Not the case here. I understand networking, WiFi signal strength, etc. This app very inconsistently communicates with our LCD washer and dryer. It is cumbersome to set up and too much trouble to use. Don't waste your money with this appliance technology yet. Maybe in a year they will have this sorted out.

Bad App. This app is the reason I own an iPhone instead of a Samsung. The instructions on how to sync with the app were completely wrong. After 15 minutes trying to follow the written instructions, I experimented. Got the app to sync?, but it does nothing so far. Don't waste your time.

Worthless. Painful to have to take your phone with you to the machine every time. I understand samsung doesn't want you to be able to turn on the machines when you are not at home (safety issues). Should still be able to monitor when the cycle is complete. My washer and dryer is in the basement. All I want to know is when the cycle is complete!!!!

Terrible app. The other reviews are spot on. Poorly written, thrown together app that hardly stays connected to the units. I expected more from Samsung. Haven't used the LCD washer/dryer enough yet to know if that was a bad decision. Hopefully a revamped app will save them from one star reviews. Come on, Samsung. I realize that the concept of making a quality product for iOS users may seem a bit unsavory to you, but this app is a joke. It's so obvious that you're purposely hampering the user experience, and it's just pathetic. The app doesn't even match the pictures in your own washer manual, for pity's sake. Do some demographic research, and I think you'll find that the majority of people who are willing to pay top dollar for your high-end washers and dryers are also likely to have an iPhone, not a Samsung device, in their pocket.

Not only does the app need a update overhaul, so does the software on the washer and dryer machine!. Why don’t they start from scratch; and update the machines too, get ride of the need to pouch the Smart Control Button! The app needs a major update overhaul and with the amount of people buying these machines Samsung certainly should invest the resources to make it happen. Also the software on the washer and dryers is connected to Wi-Fi and has never been updated by Samsung. Both the app and the washer and dryer should have a complete software updates and Samsung is absolutely disrespecting their customers by not investing the time and resources into their products to update the software to make them usable and functional as promised when these items were sold!!! Shameful!!!!

Neat idea, but that's about it. I love the idea of a smart home and that the washer/dryer is apart of that, but it's an idea. This app stinks and I spent 30 minutes trying to sync it with wifi, which the router is right in the next room. Disappointing. I hope Samsung can spend quality time designing apps like this instead of suing Apple over who invented the phone

Samsung Technology is the WORST. While their products are nice, they're continually flawed by the WORST consumer technology in the world. PLEASE fire your entire tech team and start over. Call Apple for some advice, I BEG of you. From their 'Smart' TV's to their washers & dryers, the apps, setup and navigation are horrendous. I finally put their 'Smart TV' on to Apple TV to spare myself the clunky interface. Wish there was as simple a fix for this app and their laundry products. DONT EVEN BOTHER DOWNLOADING THIS. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. My dead goldfish could design better technology.

Bait and Switch. I will admit that my washer and dryer are better than average, in fact, I'm pretty happy with how they perform in laundry care. However, I paid for the premium machines, with LCD displays an wifi... Unfortunately, the app is so bad, there is no point at all for the machines to have wifi. From Samsung, I expected the networking functionality and the software to be flawless, and perhaps the functionality as laundry care machines to be its weak link. Not the case! Don't waste your money on the machines with networking ability.

Worthless. Imagine what amazing things you could do with this app if it allowed you to see time remaining, push notifications when done, and or the ability to activate cycles remotely (like anti-wrinkle.) Nope! Instead you point it at the screen on your washer/dryer and it gives you the same information you can get in the owners manual. Nice try Samsung but you missed the mark. Great product, awful app.

What a disaster.... After wasting 30 minutes just trying to get it synced to my wifi....I finally came to my senses asking myself, "even if it does connect, so what the functionality is pointless and would add no value whatsoever. I'm thinking maybe the high school intern at Samsung labs needed somebody busywork. 😱

If I could give it 0 stars I would. I love my smart washer and dryer from Samsung. However, this app just simply doesn't work. It doesn't even sync to my washer and dryer, it's completely useless. I hope they fix this soon, it's very disappointing.... I'm a software engineer and by being one, I'm quite familiar with debugging and work-arounds. There just don't seem to be any with this app. Come on Samsung.

Useless. I can't get the washer to show "AP" described in the directions.

Half baked app & washer-dryer. Manually clicking "Smart Control" is required to use all the functions. How dumb! What's the point of this app if we need to walk to the washer-dryer to click on the screen? The only use I see is notifications and checking status.

Idiots. People are idiots. You can monitor the washer and dryer from your phone. I can start the washer and dryer from my phone, know when the cycle is complete, and also change the water temperature and spin speed. As long as your washer and dryer are on you can do all the features I mentioned above.

Don't waste your time!. This app makes me want to return my new washer and dryer out of principle. Worthless app and a major waste of time attempting to get it to work on my iPhone 6S. Samsung should be embarrassed as a company for putting out such a useless app with impossible to follow instructions in the Apple App Store. Apple should kill the app from availability immediately!

NO IFTTT dryer support... Please Add!. PLEASE ADD support for Samsung DRYERS on IFTTT. I have the Dv50k7500ev Electric dryer but there is NO IFTTT SUPPORT for the Samsung smart home compatible dryer. Please ADD support for Samsung DRYERS on IFTTT.

App does not work. Remove app if it is not going to be maintained. It does not work

The worst washer. The first load of laundry I washed in this Samsung came out as dirty as it was when I put it into the machine. I reckoned I did something wrong, and set a new program to wash the load again. Came out with stains in place as before. I then read the manual and saw that this machine considers "hot" a temperature like a warm bath, and "warm" is.... "swimming pool temperature"! If you put on the heavy duty program , the manual says : "since.. Washer must reduce... energy as first priority, ... more cold water entering the washer" No wonder nothing gets clean! I immediately contacted the Samsung, where I was told they weren't responsible as they "sold" the machine to Karl's Appliances, and then to Karl's, where I was told they will not take back a machine that has been used, although I showed them one of the twice-washed dirty rag to prove the machine is faulty. 2 lessons learned: never buying anything Samsung again, and never at Karl's again. Do not buy this awful machine!

What's the point?. I've downloaded the app to an iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and now iPad 4th generation. While the washer and dryer both show they are connected to my wireless network (I can see the IP address on my router and confirm they match on the washer and dryer); however, in 2 months of attempts (different device, different wireless security protocol, different wireless networks), I have yet to get any of the devices to connect to the washer or dryer. If you're not able to use the app, what's the point?

This is the older app. Download the smartphone app. Download the smarthome app. The picture is a green and blue upside down V with a white background.

Bad app now has crash bugs. This version of the app did not fix any problems with the bad user interface, but now it crashes frequently and has stopped finding my dryer altogether. It does not even stay running long enough to provide alerts, which is the primary reason I chose this pair of machines. This app is not better than nothing. Every aspect of it is maddeningly frustrating. If they can fix all the User Experience flaws and bug-ridden problems with it, I will happily give it give it five stars. Until then, I'll recommend not downloading this app, and checking on your clothes the old fashioned way. It will make you happier than struggling with it.

Yes to electric but No to gas dryer. Really I could run my dryer if it was electric but not since its gas? The whole set up is the same but at the very end when you push the button to start the dryer it tells you only monitoring machine status is available for gas dryers

So disappointed. I was really looking forward to using this app but it would never connect to the washer. Maybe this is because the washer requires WPS support (which Apple removed from the AirPort Extreme) and I'm not willing to jump through hoops to downgrade my router. I also hated the requirement to create an account and constantly type/choose things that should be remembered. There is no software update for the WF455ARG (not that I could download it anyway) but I hope other washers don't require it, not that it's going to help me. I realize that Samsung was probably trying to be helpful since WPS doesn't require one to type in a potentially long series of characters. The manual says "may not be connected" if the router is not WPS-certified. It should say "will not be connected." I contacted support and they told me there is no way to disable the wireless function. If like to say more about the app itself but other reviewers seem to have covered the things I wanted to mention since I did try using the app and was able to do some things in an effort to get it connected. Has potential but it turned out to just waste a lot of my time.

Marketing checklist joke. This is useless for anything but a trade show demo. I could imagine this was a proof of concept but they never shod have released then abandoned it. The extra I spent getting the network features on the washer and dryer was money completely wasted. When their AWS instance supporting the outside connectivity went down (and was unnoticed for days) tech supports only answer was to dispatch a repair call with new boards for both the washer and dryer (which wouldn't have worked, the 3rd party repair shop could read the tcpdump output I sent and didn't bother to come out). A few days later they rebooted their AWS windows box and the units amazingly started working again. I tell this story to underscore how completely lost and clueless Samsung is with this sort of technology.

Still needs work. It seems like I need to have the app open in order to get any notifications. Big power drain. There is no distinction between the washer or dryer notifications. Same message. Many notifications never received.
