Why do I have to buy?. I just want to learn German without having to go and buy things. Why?

App review. Good app but, I wish the review would cover the previous chapters as well. This would be a great benefit.

A good vocabulary supplement. This is exactly what I've been looking for! Something that can be used quickly, gives native pronunciation, and will drill me on vocabulary. Would I use this alone to learn German? No. But as a supplement, I am very pleased.

Sceamon. You can't beat this app for learning german vocabulary . Upgrade is cheap and u get great and extensive content !!

Easy and fun!. Of all the German lessons I have tried, this is by far the best! It's fun to use and I like the repetition. With so much exposure it's not a struggle to memories words. Learning just happens naturally. It's great for children and adults. I plan on upgrading.

Good. I just got this today it is really does teach German well. I don’t like how it only gives you one free level then you have to pay for this app though.

Great app. I tried this and a different one and this one by far actually teaches us, it will try to trick you and that's where you really see that you really learned it.

Good. It's very similar to Rosetta Stone. It teaches the language pretty well, maybe a little better than RS. Not bad for a dollar. I Definitely recommend it if you are just starting German! Edit: Ok now that I am farther in the app, I can probably give a decent review. This app is OK. But it sometimes is hard to know exactly what they are trying to say with just a picture. Also if you want to use ANY app to learn german make sure you also have a german text book or learning book of some sort. You can get one from your public library, obviously. Auf Wiedersehen! EDIT Just noticed that there is a mistake in one of the sentences. It says: Die Katze isst It should be: Die Katze frisst Isst- is for humans Frisst- is for animals Not a big deal but just something to note.

Misleading in app purchase price. I was told the price to unlock more games was $.99. After I made the purchase and receive the receipt, I see that I was charged $4.99. Misleading!

German learner. Very well done app. Crisp and clean interface that works extremely well. Uses the same info as BitBoards. So if you want to create your own flash cards as well, you can purchase BitBoards and get these same cards.

I want to marry this app. It's seriously that great. I've been avoiding learning German for several years now, but we're moving soon, so... I'm only up to level 10, but I'm amazed at how much I've learned. Yes, it's repetitive, but my monkey brain can't stop playing. Unlike some of the other German apps I test drove, no spelling or grammatical errors. Oh, and the native speaker isn't a computerized voice. It's like Rosetta Stone but only costs a dollar. Ahhhhhh. Contacted dev about a minor bug and got a response right away. Even if they weren't so on top of things, it would still get five stars for the reasons above. Will update when I finish the whole thing, and will include impressions of a native speaker at that point.

Great until . . .. Fun. Informative. But fails to work at level 7. Will not allow spelling of answers. Very frustrating.

Quality app. Pretty solid learning app for German.

Great but crashed. Want to rate it 5 stars but I have to continuously reinstall the app because it bugs out every couple levels and shuts down within a second of opening the app. No way to use it on i5 with it acting this way.

It's not bad.... I liked it when I first got it, but then at level seven it wouldn't let me spell any of the words. That's as far as I got.

Great way to learn. I don't have a lot of time to devote to learning a new language but seeing the pictures and the word and then hearing it too really helps the words stick with me. Well worth the money!

Good but. I really like the app, and don't mind paying a dollar for the app, but it's super annoying that is says unlock for a dollar, when it's actually a $5 charge.

Best practice. The best app I have found for practicing / brushing up on German. The use of pictures really gets your brain thinking in German instead of simply memorizing or translating. After just a couple of levels you are moving on quickly to using the language naturally and with proper grammar. Unfortunately when you encounter words you don't know and can't figure out from the context no translation is given. It would be easier to read if the text were more than a few shades darker than the background. It would also be nice if you had the option of a review game combining all of the levels you have passed.

Love this app. I am only a kid but I am learning German so fast I think this app is really funny and helpful.

Ok. I like the idea. Very similar to Rosetta stone. I'd rate it higher but at level 7 the word puzzle game breaks, and won't let me spell individual words. I even pressed every available letter but it wouldn't accept any. Edit: I lowered this to one star. There hasn't been a fix to level 7. Edit 2: Response from the app designer regarding their problem. I'll leave it to you to decide… "Thanks for your feedback. You can easily finish level 7 by playing any of the other games or manually select a new level from the settings page. Given that we have 100+ levels, I am surprised this is a major issue. We are working on a new version of Lingo Arcade and will make sure to fix this bug as soon as that version is ready."

Educational. Great game, still can't retain anything but , yay!!!

Great app. Quick and playful way to teach German to children. I like how the application lets the user create sentences in German.

Lingo Arcade. I'm presently at a crossroads as to whether to buy the full version. I like the challenge mode offered but I'm not sure if just learning vocabulary is enough. I wish I could be given 3 levels instead of 1 to make my decision about the format.

Trial has promise. As of now, I’ve only done the trial. I can see how this would be effective, but I need to play the full version to get to vocab that’s actually new to me.

My kids actually WANT to play!. This is great vocabulary training. I wish more than one person could play so my kids could compete with each other and not "ruin"each others' scores. It's the best German app I've found so far. Wish it would do even more than vocabulary.

Fun to play!. Not only is this a fun app to play, it's a great way to learn German, or brush up on your skills. The games are always changing, so it's repetitious, but no boring.

Buggy. There is a bug at level 7 that doesn't allow you to spell words. Otherwise it is a decent app.

Not working. Love this app, but the German version is not working. There are no vocabulary words appearing with the pictures. I am familiar with app via Spanish.....but cannot get the German one to work.

No english. There's no English to where I could mis understand what the word is and for games like the puzzle game and tag game the sound should be after we choose the tag because the sound tells us which to pick. Another this is the puzzle game need more choices to choose from to make it harder ( more articles and such for choices)

Rosetta iStone. Practically Rosetta Stone. I know because we have it, and Pimsleur. My buds who live in Germany say this is really good.

Good language learning app. The content is cheep and the methodology is fairly good.

Speed Challenge. This app really challenges your recall speed. Fun to play.

Better than simple Flashcards. So far this app is awesome! I like how it challenges the brain to think fast but to try to get it right. I think it works better than regular flash cards and such. It’s repetitive in a good way to let it sink in with multiple ways. Visual, and sound, with pictures and native spoken words similar to Rosetta stone. Builds onto what I already knew so it helps to have a good base knowledge.

Nice app but needs more vocabulary recycling activities. Good sound, nice activities and great vocabulary associations. However it is necessary a more continuous revision of what has been studied as you can't access those contents once you passed a level.

Good starter for basic vocab. ** Update - I have just finished all 177 levels. I‘ve loved having the practice of vocab, topics, and sentence structure. I enjoyed some activities more than others but each activity works on a different skill. I found very few errors in the actual content. A great little app! The review below was one I wrote 2 years ago when first starting with this app. Lots of repetition set in a few different activities. Really helpful to memorise basic sight words and vocab. The repetition could get very boring very quickly though. I purchased more levels but for some reason it keeps taking me back to level 1 unless I choose a level to begin at. It reminds me of Rosetta Stone only more interesting and better images.
