2-bit App. Cheque deposit does not work... Joint account cards are not saved, so you have to have your bank card with you and enter the mega-digit number each time you switch users. The app is only of value to PC Financial to say they have a mobile banking app; no value to their customers!

Need update. This has not been updated for long! Please update because ios9 is out and this is for ios 6!

Basic App. Basic functionality. Does what it needs to. No glitz and glamour but that's what the PCF brand is all about.

Ads popping up as in trying to get things done. Interface cumbersome, navigating to get things done quickly and efficiently affected by large panels popping up screen advertising new products and services.

Notification badge stays on. With the latest release, there is always a 1 notification badge on the app icon. I’ve logged in and do not see any notifications that are unread. Anyone else see this happening?

Good overall. The interface is still slightly bloated, but functionality is all there. The UX has improved this year and I am hopeful for more improvements to come.

App is useless. The app has been useless for the past 1 month. Since iOS8 launch it has not been working on my iPhone and I have reached out to them on Twitter however it seems they don't care much to address the issue.

Crashing. The app crashes every time I click "deposit"...

Won’t let me sign in. This app has been forcing me to reset my password in order to log in for the past 3 - 4 months. I have contacted customer service via messenger and they say they are aware of the issue yet no fix has been implemented 3 months after their reply. Are you kidding me? This is a banking app. Try to care a little more.

Hoping for transfer to credit from chequing. I’d like to be able to directly ‘transfer between accounts’ from my chequing to pay my credit card. Right now you have to do a bill payment to your credit card which has a delay of a few days. Hoping this is a feature soon.

Unfortunate. New design is an eye sore, will be transitioning to the mobile browser, hopefully that hasn’t changed too

Pc financial master card. Why is there no way to sign in for the MasterCard service? Please add this on the next update.

In general, nothing amazing. Bank is still profit centric. In general, nothing amazing. Frequently goes down so I can’t make payments and things. Then I am late and causes a problem. Poor attitude towards west as that is the excuse for the system to not work early evening. Cut off is waaay early evening to send payments, so although they are sent on time, the bank decides to hold them for another 1-3 days, before SENDING, not the other bank as they like to blame. Exorbitant ‘bank’ fees when some company decide to withdraw twice and more than supposed to. Their like to gouge you when others screw up or something doesn’t work out perfect. Overall another lack lustre, profit oriented monolith bank. People that give positive feedback are the ones that used to pay and allow banks to be banks. I expect customer service and support. Their attitude towards customers on the phone is, hey we do that because we can, we don’t care about you. Their attitude towards security after they got caught with their pants down is painful. You basically always have to authenticate via text or call. You basically must have a cell phone to use this banks and you have to give them the number. Constantly goes down with no access, or info is not up to date. It’s really just very meh. Search around for others. Tangerine can be gooder in many ways. They claim to have won awards, the ratings on the App Store show a very different story, beware.

Great feature added but no iPhone 6 support. First of all, thank you for the cheque deposit feature, it's really handy! But if you were able to manage such a feat, why not add something as simple as iPhone 6 support as well? The UI looks bloated.

Notification not going away. Although I don’t have any notification, app is still showing 1 notification on app. Might be a glitch in app

Doesn’t work on iPad. Try to open app and it tells me to download, press that and up comes the app. Press open and it tells me to download. And on and on and on.

Just does NOT work for check deposit. When you are asking customers to try the photo deposit, please at least make sure it is working. Nobody will help you developers for testing. Funy!!!

Password Autofill Not Working. It’s been a few weeks now and password autofill is still not working. Very annoying. Using iPhone, this app won’t even let me pick from my passwords. Fix this.

Unknown notification badge that won’t go away. Title. Went through the entire app to look for source of this notification, but nothing. Tried restarting phone. Tried deleting and reinstalling app. Badge won’t go away. Sent a message to app support months ago and got silence. Surprising that such a basic function of an app - to accurately indicate whether there is a notification - can be so hard to get right for an online-only bank.

New look. I have to say that the new look and layout is terrible. Please give us a way to choose to go back to how it was.

2nd attempt to post review that doesn’t vanish…. LOLZ. Simplii just pushed a “give us a rating” pop-up in middle of banking experience and it suggests the maximum of happy/satisfied experience… would I like to adjust the slider? Okay, I’ll give you the feedback… and I want to adjust your slider to medium. Except that as soon as I touch/hover over box, before I can make any adjustment whatsoever, whoosh, Simplii auto submits their advertised default maximum happy rating. Oh no, Simplii. No. This is uncool and inaccurate. This is called inflating yourself.

Needs some extras. Account Nicknames are an essential management tool for daily use and monthly budgeting. And it would be helpful to have a feature that automatically diverts a pre-determined percentage of each deposit to my HISA to facilitate savings (which is *not* the same as setting up an automated withdrawal).

Gone from my home screen. They’ve spent a fortune on rebranding to try to convince us that they’re some radically different banking service while in reality they’re nothing more than a no-frills CIBC. In the process they transformed their app into a juvenile Barbie-themed mess and sent their mature customers to Tangerine.

App keeps crashing. This app keeps crashing when selecting “Deposit To Select…” under the “Mobile Deposits” function on the Home Screen. I called the 1-800 number to make Simplii aware of the issue last month. I spent countless hours on the phone and their only solution was to make sure my phone was updated and reinstall the app. I did this twice and it did not resolve the issue. I offered to send screen shots and they told me they would have a manager contact me the next day. The manager did not contact me. I didn’t want to waste any more of my time on the phone so I didn’t phone back. I just decided to not use mobile deposits and write this review.

Annoying offers. I use this app when I need to do something with money…and the quicker and easier I can do it the better… But the folks at simplii think that must be there for fun and take the opportunity to push full screen ads for their products requiring me to dismiss them not once but twice. And the second dialogue is so annoying it makes me angry … it may as well say - “I’m a big dummy and want to turn down this incredible product”. Just let me do my banking please.

The Ugliest App I’ve Seen in Awhile. What was Simplii thinking with this recent redesign? The app used to look professional and like something you’d expect from a bank. The garish new color scheme is shocking. I can’t believe someone was paid to design it and somehow the design made it through approvals and put into use. I’d be embarrassed for someone to see me using this app and having to tell them it was my bank. Also, why can’t I clear the notifications above my accounts easily? I’ve been prompted to check my profile details over and over and I can’t get rid of the notification. Functionally, the app works. You can do your banking. But guess what? It worked before as well and it didn’t give me pink and lime green nightmares before. Simplii, pull your head out and revert this hideous design change.

HORRIBLE. The new update is atrocious, my eyes are dying. Does a hot pink logo really look like a banking website to you?

Rebrand/Update. Old styling seemed more modern than RBC or CIBC to me, this seemingly senseless refresh is harsh on the eyes and reorganizing the app did me no favours. The old app was fantastic, I don’t want to know how much Simplii paid for the consulting company that made these terrible changes.

Freemium Banking. Constantly annoying me with Special Offers! and Don’t Miss Outs! when all I want to do is pay some bills. And then they make it hard to find the “dismiss” option because they want you to click Maybe Later! instead. They clearly recruited their UX/UI designers from those nasty “freemium” data-sucking games. Evil, customer-hating software.

The color scheme is horrendous. This is just the CIBC app reskinned with a horrible color palette. Where is dark mode? Why doesn’t this app respect the OS setting selected by the user? This is app design 101. Also, why is a banking app giving me large notifications on the top to watch some stupid video? How about you concentrate on just banking functionality and stay out of your social garbage.

If it’s not broke don’t break it. The new colour scheme and design are not enjoyable. Alienating millennials who have been using the pcfinancial/simpli app since the beginning is a bad business plan. Keep it simple. Add things that matter like being able to freeze bank cards in the event of loss/theft.

Design change sucks. Opened my phone today to see that ugly pink and green dotted square and i hate everything about it. Please change it back. Its hideous. Sincerely Everybody. P.S. Fire whoever thought that was a good idea.

1 star because of the app icon. The app and the bank is great to deal with but this new logo free app icon is the hypes of foolishness. A business that doesn’t show their name or logo is beyond me. I honestly almost deleted it thinking something got downloaded with out my permission. For crying out loud put something in the icon to show this app belongs to you.

Won’t let me log in. I haven’t been able to use this app for months. Every time I try to log in it doesn’t accept my password — it asks me to change it. Even when I change it, after a couple weeks, it does the same thing. I don’t want to change my password anymore. It’s really annoying. Don’t bother with the app.

Why????. Why the change in colour schemes? Just keep it the same as my bank card. Who are you marketing this to and what age group? The icon is totally unrecognizable. Did some tacky cell phone company buy you guys out. Just change it back to the way it was. This is an eye sore. Fluorescent every thing. Lol.

New update doesn’t work. I’ve tried numerous times to download the new updates. It won’t work. Now I have to go to Simplii online and enter my card every time instead of just using the app. Very frustrating

Never working. This app is a joke, it never works..

Terrible rebrand colours. Not sophisticated.. The new brand colours are absolutely terrible!! Why are these colours screaming at me?! They are so incredibly harsh in the eyes I can’t stand to use Simplii any more. The fluorescent green and pink remind me of colours in cartoons my children watch. Who approved these colours!? They should be sacked!! I want to align myself with a bank that looks professional and sophisticated. This bank looks like it’s on acid. How can it be taken seriously?! What a joke. The only clientele it would appeal to, maybe, are preteen girls still playing with Barbie dolls. I am in the process of transferring my automatic withdrawals to another financial institution and will be closing my account shortly.

App now gives marketing notifications. The ‘buy more of our products!!’ intercepts are already excessive and flat out break the app on login, but sending push notifications and an app badge that doesn’t clear about how I should sign up for their credit card? Way too far. No app should ever be using notifications for marketing, but a bank app? That can’t even send the two factor authentication notifications? Get real.

Good god the colour scheme. What blind monkey came up with this new colour scheme??? Are you fools trying to make me go cross eyed? It’s not 90s night at some small town bar, it’s a bank app.

Clown car colours.. It was OK. Now it’s broken. Frustrating to use. Harder to login now for some reason. Too much ‘security theatre’ - just let me login quickly…. endless entry of passwords just makes it less safe as the more often you have to enter a password the more often you can possibly be seen entering it (in a public area). Default transaction history is too short. Still can’t order cheques from within the app. Like most bank apps… ‘meh’. The endless updates cause me to feel like they should spend more time getting it right before yet another update. More than one a year? That’s just sloppy and rushing to update imo. UPDATE June 2023: put on your red clown nose and be part of the circus color calamity of the latest update.

Utterly baffling rebranding / redesign. The recent changes to the branding/look of this company’s assets might be one of the worst I’ve encountered to date. When I saw the updated aesthetic choices I had to check to make sure it wasn’t April Fool’s day. I guess the only fool here is whoever is running the marketing team.

Latest update was the worst thing they could have done.. They’re latest rebrand is one step forward and three steps backwards. It seriously has me considering other banking alternatives. I don’t mind that they chose the most atrocious hot pink design but they made the app so much less useable. I don’t think they understand how people use their app. You can’t even look at the total sum of your accounts at a glance. It really feels as though they are a fly by night bank and so far off of the other main banking institutions. Such a shame, I used to really love banking with Simplii but unless they bring back elements of the older design and add features that are completely basic with every other bank I will be switching banks completely.

Get rid of the banners at the top. The announcement/promotion banners at the top should be able to be clear by the user. They take up way too much of the screen!

Rebrand?. The simple colours were nice. In my opinion the rebrand colours do not represent being simple being how flamboyant as they are. It doesn’t make sense for your brand. You are called Simplii for a reason.

Not user friendly. The new design is NOT user friendly. Much more difficult to navigate and key functions not as visibly available. Colour scheme is also awful. Much prefer the previous version of this app where it was easier and more intuitive for bill payments, mobile deposit, etc.

What is the “1” encircled in red?. The Simplii app is very good. Curious question: what is the red circle popping up on the app icon???

Dislike the new updated UI colours. I like that they updated the app and I think the changes made are fine, but the colours are just awful! The old colour scheme was way more pleasing. It feels like it was designed by a 10 year old…

Horrible UI. The bank’s new colour scheme is awful (hot pink and neon green on black) and makes my eyes hurt. If you insist on sticking with these awful colours, tone them down or give app users the option to enable a less ugly colour scheme.

Some VP trying to relive their glory days. The rebrand screams of new leadership trying to change something just to make a mark. A neon green and pink mark. With illegible white text. SMH

How to get rid of unread notification…. I have checked everywhere in the app and I don’t know why it still shows that there is an unread message/notification/note! Please help to get rid of it.

Beauty over Function. Simplii overall is a wonderful bank. But I’m glad this colour scheme update was more important than an app that functions. Can’t apply for new accounts, can’t pay bills, good thing I don’t need access to my banking I guess. But hey, at least it’s pretty

Can’t use the app since rebrand. Unnecessary rebrand broke the damn app.

It is good for online services only. I bank with Simplii for a long time and so far my experience was great. Until I needed a bank draft and withdraw money from my RRSP account. Since they don’t have a physical branch the request for a draft can take 5 business day (even if you ask for a rush) and the request for the RRSP withdraws needs to be sent by mail. Not at all “Simplii”. I had to transfer the money to my husbands account so he could go his bank (RBC) make the request in person and leave with a draft in less than 30 minutes.

Ads Galore. I see an ad every single time I launch the app. the ads take forever to load and are full screen blocking access to all banking applications. it’s sad.

NEW UPDATE BAD. The new update is horrible, the colours are an eyesore, I can’t see my combined amount of money for all my accounts, everything is all in the sidebar and is not as easily accessible as before! Please change it back to before it’s horrible now!

Please fix app badge glitch. My Simplii app has a “1” badge on it and I can’t make it go away. I had hoped today’s update would fix it but it hasn’t. I can’t for the life of me figure out why the 1 is showing up … I’ve looked everywhere inside the app. Drives me nuts. Thanks.

Updates don’t work. I’m not impressed. I can’t move money with the new update. This app is useless and I’m going to have to wait til I have a computer available to do my banking. Please fix this.

Removed Functionality. Colour complaints aside, the decision to remove the quick links for paying bills, sending money, etc., from the top of the Home Screen is a huge miss. How did someone come up with the idea to REMOVE functionality from an app designed for a bank that is meant to function without physical locations? Worse yet, how did this horrific idea get approved by the final decision makers? Huge miss that impacts my banking experience almost daily. 1) We want an easy app to use. 2) The market segment you’re targeting with the bright colours aren’t the ones that need the bigger font/spacing that’s been introduced. Pick a side - new colours or new sizes/spacing. Both shouldn’t be an option. I can adjust my accessibility settings if I’m having issues seeing things. Bring back the lost functionality and change the font size back to a reasonable size before folks like me bail after 10+ years of being with you.

Your riddles don’t scare me;. Why do I have to answer so many questions in order to get my card set up for Apple Pay? I’m 15 and frugal how I’m I suppose to know my last payment! Nonono I was like 12 ever since I made a payment on my card! So I have to download this app so I can make up answers to questions I deem impossible to answer with out someone or something telling you the answers for u. Btw THESE PEOPLE WON’T LET MY MOM HELP ME! Talk about hating children, like Simplii chill; I’m T R Y I N G to become a young adult. Personally I would recommend you use any other system but Simplii to store your money, but of course who going to listen to a 15 year old? 🇨🇦🇨🇮 Riddle master.

Unread notification won’t go away. There’s no notification I can find and it won’t go away! I don’t like the new drop down for transfers etc. The new app could use some work.

Some one needs to be fired. As others have said, is this a bank you trust with your money or some dating app trying to get your attention. Please return to a professional look where it is easy to bank and see everything without scrolling and burning our eyes.

Who ever thought up this new design should be fired!. The colours are garish and an assault on the eye. It is difficult to find what I want on the app whereas the original was easy to manœuvre around and why do I want to see all these images in the app? I just want to do my banking!

Latest Update Won’t Load Passwords. Latest update doesn’t work with IOS auto fill passwords any more. I’m so disappointed that it’s now so onerous to log in. I have to search my password every time then copy and past it into the app. I have faceID turned on and it still doesn’t work. PLEASE FIX IT.

Useful app being overrun by marketing. I’ve been a no-frills customer since 2007 with PC Financial, but am increasingly frustrated by the big bank experience creeping in since 2017/CIBC/Simplii. Launching the app today, I had to click through three successive screens of marketing offers, then when I finally got to my account, I got an error message when I clicked view a cheque image. If you want to keep my business, please spend less time wrapping my banking experience in additional layers of marketing, and more time fixing basic bugs.
