FINAL FANTASY DIMENSIONS Comments & Reviews 2026

Beautiful, just beautiful….. I’m on my second play through, through the game. Some strongpoints that are consistent through the game is team switching. I love the job exclusives and the switching between chapters. Ya, about job classes… they’re the best part of the game. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. For not being a mainline, it’s consistent, and could definitely come across as one. This game needs more recognition!

Worth the money. This is by far the best Final Fantasy RPG mobile game if you are a fan of the classic nes/snes games. The story is gets a little predictable as you progress through the game but the characters are entertaining and you have all the classic elements such as job classes, spells, weapons and lots to explore. One feature which I️ absolutely love is the “auto battle” which speeds up the battle sequence for your random encounters. It makes grinding and leveling up so much less painful. The one negative thing I️ have to say is that the game takes over and does way too much “talking” and cut scenes for the story progression. Sometimes I️ just want to keep battling and moving forward and instead there’s 10 mins of talking and character interaction. Once it’s over and you move on to the next cave or castle it takes over again. Other than that this game is great and I play it about once per year since it’s so much fun.

Great FF game. I e played every final fantasy game to date (some more than others) and I personally believe that this was a great job at getting back to the roots and giving the player freedom to customize there party. Story wise it's a pretty nice change up with the two separate parties that merge later on. It requires you to form two separate parties rather than choosing a team at the beginning and never changing out your roster. The class system is fantastic. It's one of the best they've put out in ages. I managed to 100% it after days of playing. The only downside is it will keep you on your phone for hours. Hopefully you have a charger with you.

😞. Can't believe I'm saying this but this is a complete disgrace to the FF series. Terrible story line that throws 70 billion different pieces of information at you at a million miles an hour, making it virtually impossible to understand anything about the game and its characters. I'm over 50 hours in and I can't tell you a single event that happened in the game whatsoever, that's how incredibly broken it is. And with the complete lack of free roaming and overly linear gameplay, I doubt I'll ever bother to finish the game...garbage

Awesome!!!!. Started by playing the free part of the game. When finished I decided to bite the bullet and pay the full price for all chapters. I must say, I don't have a single ounce of regret. I'm in chapter 3 and have already racked up 30+ hours of gameplay. The variety of jobs keeps gameplay interesting and provides a massive amount of possibilities for different strategical parties. Furthermore, I haven't encountered any bugs in the gameplay, this game is designed extremely well.

Good game, same series problems. FFD is a great game in the series. It has vibrant colors, great story, fun characters, classic battles, and the rest of the great tropes that final fantasy is known. Now however, it suffers from the same flaws that many FF games on IOS suffer as well. To name them would not do those who found them any justice because their voices have have fallen on deaf ears for months and even years. All one has to do is read the previous comments of most of the mainline FF games and the issues will be laid bare. I will again write my concern within these archives of praise and concern but this time another game joins the fold of past problems. FFD was a full screen game and now the resolution has been reduced. This games joins FF1, FF2, FF5, FF6, FF7, and FF9 insomuch as this is a persistent problem that has not been resolved or even addressed for a long time. I again ask what I asked on the July 2020 update of FF7. Square, do you read these reviews? Do you respond to your customers praise and concerns? Do you care?

Awesome game, needs a PC version. Reminds me of the best Final Fantasy's ever made. FFI, FFII, FFIII, FFIV, FFV, FFVI and FFVII. The older games were so much better than the new ones. This one is just like those. After FFVII they started to loss what made them good. I just wish I could get all of these on the PC including this one. Infact it would be nice if I could play the itunes games in the itune PC app, wouldn't that be nice. With cloud saves as well.

An AMAZING game!. Despite the $14 cost for the full game, it is worth the purchase! It has a great story, great music, great gameplay, and while playing it I felt as if I was replaying one of the classic FF games. The job system is probably one of my favorite aspects; not only because of the selection of jobs but also how it takes what made the job system in FFV great and makes it even greater! The only negative thing that I have to say is that it can get REALLY difficult at times, but that isn't anything to really complain about. Overall Final Fantasy Dimensions is an amazing game that captures the feel and recreates the experience of playing a classic FF game. If you can, I would recommend buying the full game!

Instant Classic. If you have been playing FF since classic on NES, then buy this game immediately. Old school simplicity that is perfect for mobile, polished 20th anniversary-style art, the awesome job system from FFV, active battle system, up to 5 characters in the party and 2 parties to play with, a worthy story that engages as early as chapter 1, and classic references to past characters in the series. An instant classic that deserves its name!

Just aggravating.. Here's the thing: I haven't played much Final Fantasy, but I have played a ton of RPGs. However, this was one of the worst. The game isn't free. It costs tons of money to keep playing, so they should just make the game cost money in the first place. Secondly, the whole thing just looks like it was made in RPG Maker, which isn't that bad but it's a big company. They should make decent graphics at least. Nothing's engaging, and you play about 20-30 minutes before you can't play anymore. Not worth your time.

Best Original RPG for smartphones.. So when I looked at the reviews and decided to play this game, I went ahead and bought the full game instead of the game in chunks. It was a classic Final Fantasy experience for me and was well written. I have personally put 71 plus hours into this game and all my characters are maxed out. This game towards the end amps up the difficulty level because the game expects you to have already learned all the mechanics of the game and will throw everything all you. Over all I think I have gotten my 14 dollars worth out of this game. This is a true Final Fantasy game and does not disappoints.

Best Final Fantasy Game in a long time. There’s not really much else to say about this game except that I felt like I was playing a lost Final Fantasy game from the Super Nintendo era. This is a game for people who loved Final Fantasy 3 and 5 with the best job system in any Final Fantasy game to date. I was really disappointed that dimensions 2 was nothing like this but here’s to hoping the next dimensions game will be something similar to this.

Best Job system in a Final Fantasy Game. Although the graphics look like final fantasy V, there is a very good job system in place. It is the best job system in all the final fantasy series, better than FFV and better than FFTactics. I enjoyed this game very much, it is perfect for mobile play as the gameplay is fast and touch friendly.

Music glitch. Every time I leave the app, the music turns off. I have to quick save and restart the app. Confusing

Not enough health for the amount of attacks. I’m JUST starting out. There are way too many encounters at the beginning and I don’t have enough potions. I ran out while in the first dungeon. Either fix it so it’s turn based or fix the enemies encounter rate. OR give more health. I can’t get past the second level in the mountain dungeon because I keep running out.

Return to the 16bit days. Dimensions plays like a 2d final fantasy from the Super Nintendo with an improved job system. The story is straight forward and there is very little exploration. While this would have been a con on a home console it is welcome on mobile because you can more easily put FFD and pick it up later. The job system is improved over other job based FF titles like tactics and FFV because each party member only has a limited number of total job levels. So you need to plan character progression. Also using an ability while having other abilities equipped had a chance of fusing them into a new f-ability. I wish FFV would have had this feature! My only complaint is that the controls frustrating. Although this does seem to be less of an issue over time.

To good to be true.. I've gone on a little Final Fantasy kick recently so downloaded all the free FF games today. Most of them are... Okay. They're almost all the same thing in different wrapping to be honest and none feel like final fantasy except for maybe Brave Exvius and even that has the sin of an energy system currency you need to buy with real money to get better things, just sit there and tap or swipe the screen in an endless battle, etc. it at least has a story and exploration option unlike most... But I digress... I ran across this and was blown away at first. It was pure old school original final fantasy. Menu system, sounds, graphics and all. And I was loving it, but only played for about a minute when I realized it had to be to good to be true. Then I checked the description and it sure enough is. $15 to get the whole thing... Outrageous! For a spine off mobile app of a game series, that is way too much no matter the quality. It's a nice game to be sure but it shouldn't cost so much. I can download free, fan made alternatives or even play a flash game of equal quality for free.

Not Bad, but Not Very Good, Either. I almost didn’t finish playing this game because it was boring me so much, but it gets good near the end of chapter 3. The grind of meet a new companion, do an episode, then learn that companion’s job, got really repetitive. Even if you’re a Final Fantasy fan, I’d say you don’t need to play this one.

Cloud Saves after five years?!. I suppose with the Pixel Remasters debuting, Square Enix are curating their remaining mobile catalogue. While save backups to iCloud are more than welcome, I’d request wireless controller support, too, allowing for T.V. play sessions from a distance.

Great game, worth the price. Considering buying a full FF game at a store costs $50 bucks - this is a great value right on your phone! Much better than the overwhelming amount of free to play, mind numbing crap that permeates the App Store. Happy to pay! :)

One error.. When all of the warriors of dark and light get on the airship after the great elder tells them to go to Avalon, when you're playing as someone who isn't the green haired guy and you talk to him the sword says, "ready nacht?" Even if you name him something else.

Final fantasy the money pit. I was having a good time with this, honestly. Had some reminiscences of the monsters from final fantasy four, storyline, and had good character flow. The problem I have with this was I finished it within thirty minutes. There is also a job class system that I didn't even get to try out. I mainly just auto battled all the ransoms. I had two "boss" battles that consisted of me casting their weakness 3 times to win. This should've been called a demo if you could even call it that, because you don't even get to demo the complete combat system of jobs or abilities. And of course the additional "chapters" are overpriced. If you wanna dump some cash then by all means jump all over it. I'd rather go back and just play the originals I love than supporting squares greed. I think their CEO has a big enough yacht

It's ok, but interface is bulky and jerky. I won't be bothering to pay for the extra chapters. The graphics are older and would be better if they were updated. The interface and movement is very jerky and hard to control anywhere you are trying to move. There are better games out there for the style and are considerably cheaper.

An Unknown Error Occured. I don’t mind paying for quality games. Just be transparent about it and let me know what I’m buying at the beginning. Once you progress through the prologue you are forced to make a purchase for the next chapter or buy all the chapters. Fine, I’ll fall for your lame gimmick because I’m a sucker for nostalgic FF games. But then to not even work… I’ve tried various times to make the purchase for the chapters without luck. I keep getting “An Unknown Error Occurred”. Just have people buy this regularly through the App Store and drop the “get hooked and spend” model.

Wow, what a scam.. They reel you in with all the classic final fantasy music and tropes and just as you are finishing up the first major dungeon, they want you to buy the next chapter. You have to buy each chapter and game, with a total cost of 38$. Shammery. I want the old Squaresoft back! Shameless activity like this would have never flown. My favorite gaming company quickly turning into my most despised, faster than Blizzard did. I won’t be looking at FF16 at all.

Communication error. I adore this game as far as I have played, one of my all-time favorites. As a matter of fact, I’ve played the prologue at least five times over the last few years. The pixel art is beautiful, and there is a good balance of both storyline dialogue and gameplay. Also, the music never seems to get old. I have only one problem, and it’s pretty big. The reason I’ve only ever played the prologue is because when I attempt to purchase the full game, I can only manage to get to the Apple ID confirmation. Afterwards, when a game would usually accept the purchase, the game claims there is a “communication error.” It doesn’t take the money because of this though, thank goodness. I researched the problem and found others have had very similar issues. No one has been able to access the full game unless they download it on another platform. Considering this has been overlooked since the last update five years ago, it is unlikely anyone will get the message, but I’m sending it anyways, just in case. If this was read, thank you for your time. Wether you have the resources to act upon this issue or not.

Best game I’ve ever played. I’ve played this game thru 2 times and I’m doing it a 3rd time. Worth every penny. Truly amazing. Fun and challenging with plenty of side quests. I highly recommend it.

Font Issues. I loved this game. It may not have been the best, but the combat system and the job system were really fleshed out for me. However, I have a problem with the font and frame rate. After I updated the game to the newest update, there have been framerate issues (idek how) and there are issues with font. Either looking like absolute garbage or not fitting with the text. I have loved this game, however these issues have deterred my enjoyment. Please update and fix the font so I can love this game again.

Good, but…. The game was good, but having to buy the rest of the game after the prologue? That's the only thing that is bad so far. The rest of the game was alright, but doesn't connect to any other Final Fantasy I've played. It has some of the original monsters, and music. The characters were different, but you can name them. Still only good.

Almost as good as mainline titles. This game could be part of the mainline series, it's a real deal final fantasy the only thing is the writing and plot is weak. Great music and nostalgia, long game. This truly is a real Final Fantasy. It was never popular and no one talks about it because it cost 30 or 40 bucks when it released and on mobile that is, as we all know now, a death sentence. If you liked Final Fantasy 4,5,6 you will love this

Huh. Not bad. Pretty good. Actually, really good. So, this is quite fun to play. The overworld theme is nice to listen to, the character sprites could’ve been better, but it really gives off that ff vibe. Just like ffV, it has the highly praised job system, but it also has the new fusion ability mechanic where you need two specific abilities to learn a new skill. This includes stuff like magic missile, Aqua breath, and others. The story is decent and the battles are challenging. Worth it.

Play this instead of FF5. It’s a shame that this was the only new mobile FF that’s an actual game and isn’t built around micro transactions like Brave Exvius and Mobius. This game is almost identical to Final Fantasy 5 in its art style, use of the job system, and unoriginal plot but at least it doesn’t take itself too seriously and can still be appreciated for its campiness. This time you have two parties, the Warriors of Light and Warriors of Darkness, each receiving different jobs that cause them to be developed quite differently. And this game is hard. Set ATB to active, crank the battle speed all the way up and prepare to die multiple times to bosses just like the good old days.

Great Game. I gotta say I didn’t regret buying this, the story was a good inspiration, the characters are what most of the previous casts of characters don’t, and they were interesting, and the gameplay is really fun and challenging, you should at least play through it once.

A good and fun experience.. Take the guest star party member system of FFII, the jobs of FFI,III, and V, along with the light and dark and character development of IV, and you have an idea what this game is like. The first episode is free and gives you an idea what the gameplay is like, then you have to actually cough up money, surprising I know. It's not always true but "you get what you pay for" and for the apps that you pay nothing, you get nothing as quality. -1 star for the INSANE difficulty spike later on in the game, and the amount of grinding you'll need to do so that you can unlock the fusion techniques you want.

Sigh.... I LOVE This game! The graphics are stunning and I loved the game until the first 15 minutes were over. BAM! I now needed to pay 15 DOLLARS to play the full game. And this seemed a lot like final fantasy 5, one of my favorites in the series. Which was a HUGE Letdown for me. But this game IS, in fact good. Just the fact you need to pay 15 dollars to play fast the first 15-20 Minutes. Please! Either make it completely free, or make the prologue longer.

Some issues after you purchase than delete game.... Overall, this is a call back to the classic formula utilizing job classes and unique character building that really began to kick off after FFIII. Though this game is more like a tribute, example: remember “dragoons” and “crystals”?!?! I played through it and paid for all the chapters; which is roughly the cost of most Squarenix mobile games on here. However, I didn’t think that after I deleted the game that if I wanted to unlock all the chapters I already paid for, that I would be prompted to pay again?!?! That’s kinda dirty guys! Maybe you can fix this or idk acknowledge that I paid over twenty dollars for if at best an average game with a basic save the world premise. Come on!

Good game but there are a few issues. I purchased the full story on my iPad and I enjoy the game, but there are a few issues. It sometimes crashes on the iPad Air (it didn't crash on my iPad first gen). And there's no way to disable the equipment optimization that happens every time you change your character's job. Please fix the crashing and add an option to turn the equipment optimization off!

Refreshing. For anyone trying to get into the final fantasy series, but doesn't have the time to play the first final fantasy game because low quality or you just can't find it, play this game it reminds of everything final fantasy was and is today coated with new faces, new characters, and some great Easter egg, anyway what I'm trying to say, this is just a very well made rpg, but to be warned grind your heart out trust me it's worth it. The end is fantastic and you feel great. Anyway thank you final fantasy team, you guys made another unforgettable game you should be proud.

Amazing. For a mobile game, this game has lots of content. The story is good, nothing amazing but it gets the job done. The game tries to go back to the style of Final Fantasy III and V where you have a large job system and you can customize your party, so if you like the class system, play this now.

Great addition to the Final Fantasy Saga. In a nutshell if you loved old school Final Fantasy games you will love this. Graphics are true to the originals, gameplay made a smooth transition to mobile and the music is renewed but reminiscent of the classics. Best of all you can try it for free in the prologue and grind away! I only have the prologue but will be downloading new chapters after I level up some.

Easily worth $14. This is a real Final Fantasy game, well worth the $14 to buy the full set of chapters, which is much better than other games that pressure you to buy coins and crystals and other purchasing items. Anyone who thinks they are entitled to play a full Final Fantasy game for free are bad people. I really like the flipping between two parties. It allows you to fully enjoy the job advancement system without narrowing it down to your core party. While this isn't as good a story as VI, the gameplay is comparable.

?. So I ended up buying the game , it was amazing I loved it sooo very much and would catch myself playing and replaying it on my free time , but then I got a new phone and first thing I did was redownload this game, to my dismay I had to pay AGAIN to get the app I already paid for? I knew I shouldn't have paid for it to begin with but come on now I was really looking forward to playing this game again , guess I won't ever again since I would have to pay again 😔

Excellent throwback but please add controller support. Now that iOS officially supports Bluetooth controllers, I would love it if controller support was added like it is with Final Fantasy VI, for example. Or better yet, release this game on Switch and/or Steam. This is a great game. Let more people know about it. That aside, it’s a great game reminiscent of the SNES-era JRPGs and I’d recommend it to anyone who is a fan of those.

Solid throwbacks, great game. The old school FF1-6 feeling of gameplay with the sprites, equipment, and diverse party is great. The in-depth job system expands on what III and V built allowing you to really build a party of your own. Finally, the story, splitting into two teams and allowing you to experience two separate, concurrent stories was a really enjoyable part that made it so the game never felt too grindy or too mush of a slog since you could grind a few lvls/job lvls and then swap to the next party for a breath of fresh air. Only thing it lacks is a post-game since it is just 3 bosses repeated with no real reason past that. Still a solid optional challenge compared to other titles... looking at you FFVI.

RPGs. Prologue was great. Only problem so far is the way the exp shows after a battle. It's a little confusing and hard to tell how much each person is actually getting from each battle, which is important if you want to focus on leveling a certain person being that it seems like each character gets different amounts from certain types of monsters. Otherwise great game and I'll be purchasing the full game as soon as I can. FF8/FF9 for mobile...I seriously cant believe you people are slacking on this. It should've been in the works years ago, as well as more games like the old Nintendo ones. Hop to!

4 stars would play again. This game is great! Bings you back to the OG FF. There are some bugs here and there and of course crashes like your typical mobile game even though it’s not frequent. The thing is there is only one problem: there is a bug where you get stuck in certain areas and you do the walk animation but you don’t move. I’m not sure if it’s just my phone or if others have had this problem. Other than that pretty good game compared to FFXV pocket. It’s addictive and like your old final fantasy, will have bosses you’ll need to to grind to be 26 levels higher than anyone else in your party to beat it.

Great Game for old schoolers.. This game is great for me since it is a combination of final fantasy’s five with the ability and jobs and six with the atb bar returning as well. The story is okay i saw a tempo in the story but that is a easy fix. If there is one thing to change it would be the story because it doesn’t make any sense but the game itself is great.

Difficult Game but very enjoyable. To put it simply this game is fun but the difficulty is somewhere between FF4 DS version and an ATLUS game. You have been warned. But on a lighter note the game has a great story, likeable characters, solid soundtrack, and a surprisingly well made Villain.

Pleasant surprise. Worth the price. Being a spinoff, I had pretty low expectations. In fact, the game sat idly on my phone for months before I started to play it. It's actually very enjoyable. The feel of the game is like a "Final Fantasy 5.5" in terms of the engine generation. The job system is astoundingly well balanced and thoughtfully designed. The random encounter enemies are stupidly strong. They regularly smack you for over half your HP. But this makes expendable items meaningful unlike the other FFs where you never use them. The story is simplistic and unoriginal but the game mechanics make it worthwhile. It's also quite a long adventure. It took me well over 50 hours to get through. Highly recommended for those who want the nostalgic FF experience but want a game they haven't already played ad nauseum.

Annoyed as Hell. I try to only play free to play and when I downloaded it it was fine for me but when it hit me with a sudden pay to continue the main game like Mario Run I was irritated so I don't enjoy playing games that throw a sudden paywall of real money just to play a game because it is free. It would have been better if there were a few micro transactions that allowed you to do things easier but not making them necessary to play a game if you are a free to play like me.

I have to pay to continue?. Ok, whoa whoa whoa WHOA!!! Why the hell do I have to pay $21 to continue the game after the prologue? It you have to pay $21, just make people pay $21 to get it... I mean, at least make the standard chapters free, but have the paid ones be bonus special ones... that are basically DLC, not pay for the whole thing...

Game Icon Update Required. Great game - however square please update the app icon to the final fantasy dimensions tile screen logo. the current icon makes the game look cheap and doesn't fit in with the FF iOS collection.

Quite decent and enjoyable. I got 65 hours of gameplay out of final fantasy dimensions (although I suspect 20 hours of that was training and levelling my characters). Once you pay the initial price it actually turns out to be a good entertainment investment. If Square Enix had priced each chapter about $7.50 rather than asking for the whole sum of money up front no one would be complaining it was over-priced. The story isn't earth shattering and a few of the characters are 2 dimensional in terms of their personalities (with the notable exception of Alba) but overall it's quite a fun game with great nostalgia value for fans of the Final Fantasy Series. All your favourite features such as Chocobos and Airships are back as we'll an an interesting and varied amount of support characters. The job system allows for a great deal of versatility in constructing a party. This Final Fantasy lacks the levels of loving detail the rest of the series is known for but if I had my time over again I'd still buy it. A newgame+ feature also would have been nice but you can't have everything. Another problem is the encounter rate of random monsters is actually quite high and that gets a bit annoying after a while, as did the fact that the ability to freely roam the world took the vast vast vast majority of the game to acquire and was rendered a bit worthless due to the state of the world when you finally get an airship (no I'm not going to add in spoilers). Major bonuses include that the amount of items hidden in towns is quite generous and that there a respectable number of optional sidequests such as tracking down summons and learning various dances. Ultimately a very worthy game. Square Enix should port across more of the older Final Fantasy series.

Overpriced, underwhelmed. This comes no where near stacking up to squares glory days, square needs to realize that you can not charge these kinds of prices for ios games. Their company strategy and business model is completely outdated and I'm surprised more people aren't complaining

Damand updates. So pay 3 bucks for 3 minutes play and then 30 bucks to get the acctual game. Shame. Great app fun to play but is not worth it

What is this the jersey shore. I bet the start and i wanted to play the next part and it charges you money common this game should be cheaper it's old

Buy it!. Ignore the complaints about it being $30. They're just butthurt they have to pay. Someone call the waaaaaaaambulance.

Shut up, this game is great.. The people complaining about paying $30 for a full length game probably don't have a job and should realise it's not a short 2-5 hour game like most of what you see in the app store, go back to playing COD. This is a great game, it's designed like the console games and is far from a casual experience, the dialogue could use a bit of work though, but it's not story breaking.

Pay to play. Good game but you must pay to continue after the prolouge

It's no ffvi. First things first...i just want to get the negative out of the way...it's as fast paced as final fantasy v for the Gba....yeh but other then that it's faith full, good to see the atb system, and the bosses are fun...i even heard gilgamesh is hiding somewhere! It's cool if you want a throw back to your childhood it's fun but it's no ffvi

$30?!. *Uninstall* This should be labelled a "Demo" or "Lite" version. Who's paying $30 for an iPhone game?!

Good but Controls.... The gameplay and story is awesome but please fix the controls. They're really glitchy.

Square Enix are just Awesome!. Thanks for bringing out this game guys. Now I have a few more hours to kill off with spare time :) just love the whole series :) keep up with the good work!! I seriously don't care what value it is. It's worth the value :)

Great game but pricey. Really great game but the asking price is a bit too much for this sort of App.

Amazing. Great game, well done and worth the price. Love all the alba lines :)

Great game. I've thoroughly enjoyed it, however after updating to iOS 8 it will no longer open.

Great. Great game it's a must have👻

Too $$. And the controls is annoying. Would prefer a fourth option where you press and action button rather than clicking. Half the time you can't click on a person or object to check for items

Isn't actually free. Requires purchase once you're a few minutes into the game. Shouldn't be listed as free

Deceiving and mislead. Only the prologue is free then the game wants to charge you $21 for the next chapters? Don't list it as free. Pathetic

Good game but the price is too high.. This game will must certainly remind you of the time you spent playing FF IV, FF V and FF VI. In the old times you had a pretty nice booklet and other added values to your money. It is a solid game, as has been said before. On the other hand, the price is too high for a downloadable game which doesn't bring any new technology or concept to the series.

Just super.. Well worth the wait. Hope more chapters keep coming. Had my doubts but it is a spectacular experience. (square enix - FFX on the iPhone/iPad would be phenomenal)

Typical... Square Enid money farming app, ignore these money farmers.

Don't buy, please read.. First off this is a great game, I love final fantasy but the fact that it says it's free then once you're into it it makes you pay $17 for it or so... It's just wrong. Instead I would just suggest typing up final fantasy in the App Store and buying the $10 one, basically the same but I find the $10 to be less buggy, plus it doesn't hide sneaky charges. You can either pay $17 for the buggier game or $10 for the smoother game :3

Great game, classic gameplay with some modern conveniences. Yes it's pricey for an iOS title but you can try the prologue for free and decide then if you want to put down half the price of a AAA title which this game is. Great story, music and gameplay an engaging 60+ hour adventure!

Too expensive!. Love to play this game but $30 is far too much if it $10 or even $15 I would buy it easily.

Ridiculously priced. No iphone game is worth 30 bucks. What a joke. Episodic payments fool nobody. The game itself just feels like the Dawn of Souls remakes. Meh

Demand free. For the next upgrade you should let people get all the chapters for free when they get the app because it's unfair and greedy.

Not impressed about having to pay to continue. I got thinking it was free and and enjoyed playing but I have to pay seriously

Better than I expected.. I am hooked! The music, battles, characters, story and job system have made this one of my favourite games on the app store.

Great old school Final Fantasy.. I am really enjoying this game however I have two gripes. Firstly the lack of cloud saving secondly it has become a bit unstable since updating to iOS 8.

What a joke. 30 dollars is absurd. Square must be out if their mind. Doesnt matter if the game is good or not, is way overpriced. Fact. Dont sponsor that. Besides, this game was made with minimal staff and effort as possible. Very low production value. You can buy Skyrim with that much money.

Tricked!. I really loved this game! It's a lot of fun and at first it seemed like it was free, but after the prologue, right after you've got into it and are loving it, you are forced to pay for the rest of the story >.< so very frustrating! Why is it in the 'free' category wen it really isn't free? All that is is a trick to get ur money! It's a great game, really, but that just makes it all the more frustrating wen the false advertising says 'free' but it isn't. Tut tut, why can't somebody make a game like this that is actually free?! You will be so loved!!!!!

Awesome. Yes it's free

Pricey, but a fantastic game. This game is one of the best gsmes I have played on IOS. The price is definitely a drawback, but the number of hours I have spent on this very high quality game have made up for it. The story is excellent: unique characters, both theatrical and witty writing, and some genuinely heart-wrenchingly emotional scenes are all fantastic. The soundtrack is equally well done: the orchestral arrangements are immaculate. The optional nostaligia music is interesting, but at 10 dollars, is WAY too expensive, and quite disapointing. The game mechanics are interesting, with a unique job system that differs slightly from those in FFTactics or FFV is a great touch. It is a shame that rhe price of this game is so high: more people should be able to play this masterpiece of a game.

Good. Good but $30 for chapters? Make some at least 2 chapters free

Good, but not $30 good.. While it's definitely a solid RPG, it's by no means an iOS masterpiece worth this kind of premium, and feels like it tries a little TOO hard to capture the essence of the old SNES Final Fantasy games. If you're a rabid FF fan you've already bought it, but if you actually appreciate value for money then for this price you could afford two of the three Chaos Rings games, which have far more to offer then cheap nostalgia tricks,

Misleading. As anyone can figure out by reading the reviews you will have to pay $30 to access the full game. While I have no doubts that this would be a good game, I don't feel many IOS users (myself included) will be willing to pay $30 for it.

Awesome!. This is Final Fantasy at its finest and well worth the asking price. I love how they finally revived the job system, the battles are just as awesome as ever and the music rocks. It might be more expensive than the typical iOS game, but you get what you pay for.

Doesn't work in iOS8!. This game doesn't work in iOS8.

Perfect. An absolutely perfect throwback to classic RPGs, excellent story and a fun job/levelling system. Just wish to see more of the same in future releases, FFD 2 was trash. I’ve played this game 3 times now and 8 years later it still holds up!

Great game, worth the money.. Why are people whinging about having to pay $20-30 instead of 99c for this? Are these the same people who think that they should only have to pay $10 for $100 worth of groceries? It's a full game, developed by a business, with about 50 hours of gameplay. You even get a chance to play the first part of the game before spending any money. If you only want to spend 99c, go play angry birds or something.

Great game!. I was a bit sceptical at first, but I'm chapter 3 into this game and I'm quite impressed! Hooked as my characters grow levels. Great game for any FF fans!

Pricey but Good. It's similar to the SNES Final Fantasy games and it is a complete Final Fantasy game made for iPad and isn't something you can breeze through. If your interested get the game and if you like it check out the other chapters or at least the first one. If your willing to pay around $30 for a game that is basically another SNES Final Fantasy than try it out.

Er?. Sorry this game is really hard to understand, you'll probably get about 10 game overs in the first 5 minutes.

!!!. Really? $31for a game... Cancel for this, byebye

Best final fantasy game. Hi this is my favorite role playing game on my IPod and I gust got the next chapter to the story and it's worth the money you have really made the best final fantasy game in the app store keep up the good work.

final fantasy is awesome. it is final fantasy so it's awesome

Not free but worth it.. I feel that this game has been given a bad rep by those who thought they where getting a free FF game. Don't let them fool you though. The game is worth it if you think of the prologue as a demo to see if you like the game before you give them the money. Square Enix took a gamble on this and I think it worked out for the better.

Awesome until i realized i had to pay. I thought this was going to be a gem Because i thought the full game was going to be free. But after the prologue i realized i had to pay for chapters and i felt hurt and cheated. Fantastic game, but falsely lured.

Disappointed. Game is great, it's a shame you have to pay to play after the prologue.

It’s bugged. The game doesn’t save my final save after the end storyline and it brings me back to before I defeated the boss battle

One of the best FF games!!!. Omg. I can’t believe this game actually exists. It’s so good. I’m a big fan of traditional NES style rpgs and this one is(in my opinion) one of the best. Congratulations SquareEnix. You guys did a really good job👍👍👍

Wow. Superbe jeu très complet plus de 60 heures de jeu ,rien a redire :)

An incredible FF game!. This is one of the best 2D FF games ever developed, it's shocking that it's a mobile only game. It plays like a successor to Final Fantasy 5, with its excellently crafted job system and two separate parties to add even more depth to character builds. The best part about this game is that it's the last thing somebody pictures when they think "mobile RPG", this is a title that just as easily could have been released on the GBA or SNES instead of cell phones, with none of the micro-transactions or years of grinding that have come to infest the genre. Overall it's a great title I would recommend to anybody who enjoys classic 2D Final Fantasy.

25$ for a cellphone game. game is good , played the prologue. would not pay 25$ for the full game . because the controls are City.

Great!!. Perfectly reasonable price. Its a full fledged ff title, what did people think it was. Worth every penny.

Changing to Andriod. App Store expects me to repay to play through this game again. Fix this. Or don't. I'm never buying another apple product ever again. I can't report problems on this game for some unknown reason. And my first in depth review was deleted on account of my generic nickname. Thanks for that - you're making it easier and easier to hate your company in its entirety.

Old school as faq. If you liked SNES final fantasy’s then you’ll like this. It improves on the FFV job system as well!!

Its not really free.. Only the prologue is free. When compared to other rpg's in the app store, I'd rather not pay $28 for four chapters of this -.-

Fantastic. I have rescinded my previous negative review regarding poor iPhone 5 support. This game is fantastic, and worth every penny. It runs in full screen for iPhone 5s and plays gloriously.

Not overpriced. Just cause it was released on iOS doesn't make $28 overpriced. If this was released on a PSP or DS people would be have no problem spending that for a full fledged brand new FF game. Totally worth the money!

Nastalgia. This game reminds me of childhood car rides. I love the music, the characters, airships, etc. It’s more the concepts that I find cool than the execution. I feel that this game somewhere became integral to my Imagination.

Can't restore my purchases. Great game except for when I restored my phone got the game again and can no longer restore my purchases. It's asking me to buy them all again. So unless I'm given them back its gonna stay 1 star.

Problème avec la nouvelle mise à jour. Depuis la mise à jour, je ne peu plus monter de niveau dans certaine classes comme celle du chevalier noir sans que le jeu plante. Ca marchais bien avant cette mise a jour!

Game works for me, iPhone 6s. Great game so far, although I’m in my first hour of using it I trust I won’t lose my saved files, etc.

Worth the Money. Easily my favourite RPG on the iPad. The chapters are expensive but I think something this good is well worth the money.

Excellent game, poor pricing model.. Playtime: story complete; 90 hours This FF spinoff title is sadly overlooked. The battle mechanics are very similar to the FFV class system with new features such as assigning Job points and discovering Fusion skills. Story-wise, you'll find your classic FF storyline with the crystals and the Warriors of Light. There are many supporting cast members, small twists, and emotional moments throughout the game. Most of the party members are bland, though, with only a few of them having standout personalities. Fans of the series will recognize references and homages to previous FF titles. The main issue I have is the game being split up into separate parts, requiring you to pay for them if you want to continue the story. Why not just have it all as ONE game? Money-gouging is all I can think of. That being said, the game is worth the full price. It's a full-length FF adventure that outclasses most of the cheaper $0.99 RPGs you'll find on the App Store.

Best iOS final fantasy yet. FF dimensions is a fun, traditional style game with great music and gameplay. Mostly like the original FF, and fun for a plane ride. The prologue chapter is free if you want to try out the game, and it's only roughly 17 dollars for the full set of chapters.

Final Fantasy, great RPG as always. i've been waiting for two months for this game excellent FF, looks like a mix of FFIV and FFV

Not worth $28.99. When you can get games like Avernum: Escape from the Pit HD for $9.99 it's impossible to justify spending almost $30 on this. I'd suggest waiting for a sale or skipping it altogether.

IOS 8. Vous devriez faire une mise à jours pour que le jeu prennes toute l'écran sur les iphones 6 et remettre la langue française disponible, car pour une raison que j'ignore le jeu c'est mis en anglais! SVP fix it !!

Saved games. When I close the game it does not seem to even save my games. I save often to save my progress but the opening screen of the game does not have saved game or load save game options. Why?

Money grab. I dont think its fair that i owned this game when it was all bundled into one game and now i have to pay for everything again

iCloud?. I love this game I've grinded all my characters to level 99, and I maxed out all the job classes. My only issue is I'm getting rid of the iPad I play this game on and there's no way to save it to iCloud, so when I get rid of my iPad all my hard work will be gone. Please implement saving to iCloud.

Worth Every Penny. Like other people have said already. People would pay $60 to buy a game like this on a PSP or DS. $28 is completely reasonable and totally worth it. The only thing I don't understand is why it costs $10 to get new background music if I already payed $28 for the game. I hope Square makes more FF games like this for both console and handheld.

Good game, figured out problem on my own. I figured out what to do to get access to the full game. There was an option to restore the game which I did and that allowed me to begin chapter 1 which made me very happy. Square should let users know this that way others in the future don't get stuck like I did. I hope I don't have to do this for each chapter but if I do, so long as it lets me continue, I can deal with that. Considering the prologue could be finished in less than 30 minutes if you don't bother to level, I think the prologue and chapter 1 should be free.

Wow. Are you kidding me? $16?

Amazing classic!. This is like a revised and refreshed classic SNES FF! Really good story so far and gameplay. Please update to iPhone X

Très bon jeux. En revanche il est passé de français à anglais sans rien faire. Impossible de changer la langue que dois-je faire? Merci

Hallelluya. One of my favorite game from final fantasy since the 6th. So happy. It worth the price. Over 40 hours of game. Great history, good game play, i love it.

Money Grab Bull#%?!. Are you seriously telling me I paid for this game like a year or so ago and now I start over and I have to pay again for each chapter of the game!?!?!? What a ridiculous load of sh#%. I played for like 10 minutes for free (I already paid) and now it's pay to play? Pathetic, a total embarrassment to the Final Fantasy franchise. Get fu#%ed.

Fix sound. If you leave the game and come back, sound is gone.

Crash entering want cash back. Why the game crash when i opening im.can you fix the bug please,or im want my cash Now,because the game dont work

So fun.. This game is (in my opinion) one of the best games on the App Store. If you’ve played any of the other FF games for iOS you’ll understand what I mean when I say they are slightly choppy, which is no slag on those games, I love them too. Any of the unoptimized awkwardness in the others is not in this game. It is an old school FF game that is optimized for your phone, and I would highly recommend it to anyone that asked.

A Less Good Copy of Zelda. 10 min playing... I think ff6 was better. Looks pretty much like Zelda: A Link to the Past, but that game was way better. What makes this game an improvement to the genre??

Pourris. Pouri

Coulda got 5 starts. If the game didn't need to be restarted every time I put it in the background to do something else it'd be an awesome game but that flaw is a deal breaker I can't even progress because I keep needing to background the game and then it needs to be restarted

Add backbone support please. Backbone support please

Good game!. The only thing I don't like is the battle style. But it's still not horrible. People complain about the price, but come on, we've all spent more then $30 on games that are free to download. If you like classic FF games, then this is for you.

Pointless. And pricey!. I honestly could not believe it. They slap the final fantasy logo on something and people go crazy! It's rpg maker 2000 material with hd sprites! And 30 bucks! Really? How about getting stuff like final fantasy tactics advance 1 & 2 instead? A shame, really...

Achievement & console. I loved this game is amazing, but I fell it should update for can play it with controller should be perfect! Then update also achievement for give people will play to challenge it. Bring it at console switch, Xbox, ps5 :)

Strong game that needs iCloud. This is a great full length FF that mostly reminds me of 5 and 6 based on the story and gameplay. Very pleased as many of these types of efforts tend to feel forced retro and lack and quality. It's also a very lazy effort to not include controller and iCloud support. Consider how long the game is and how much production went into it that is baffling. The game will take more than 50 hours to beat, so I wish I could alternate between iPhone and iPad when I have bits of time. Email Square Enix to ask for the feature like I did and maybe they will since its in other games of theirs. Why did they not finish it above, and then advertise this game better it should have been brought to top of the App Store. Aug 2021 - iCloud has been added but didn’t work for me so submitted a ticket

Another.... Another game that I actually like that after an hour or 2 you have to pay money to even continue. Why not make special crystals like every game that cost money so you can get equipment or stuff like that instead of for one episode of gameplay which no other free game has ever pulled... All I'm saying I love final fantasy and am deleting this waste of my time.

This ain't free!. You are asked to purchase the rest of the content later for 20$. And this isn't very far into the game when they ask you.

Sneaky pay after prologue BS!!. Game is fun. Just like the old Super Nintendo days. But maybe shoulda been something a little more obvious that I would have to pay $20 after I'm hooked from the prologue. So naturally I deleted the game. And $20? Forget that. Under $10 maybe. Square Enix wants way too much for any of these FF games. I'll just pick up FF3 for my DS for $5 thanks.

Icloud save?. I have a save on my ipod (80 hours) i want to continue on my iphone like in FFV game

Super Fun. I loved the time playing it, enjoyed it very well, BUT 19$ ehhh, if you have the money buy the whole game. You will love it.

Beware game freeze and stop. I feel like ive been ripped off!! im on iphone4 in chapter 4, since the october 8th update the game freeze and stop at the end of every fight. cant play anymore. make a fast update or refund!! this is VERY disapointing....

Not worth $$$$$. 19.99 is way too steep for 40 hours of game play

Needs widescreen. This game is great but it needs to be updated cause its still got the tiny resolution from iphone 5 and the older ipads

Great way to past time. Can you put in a cloud backup so people don’t have to start all over from the beginning if they choose to uninstall.

Controls. Please make this game compatible with controllers. I love love this game but can’t use a controller with it

Can’t restore Purchase. Hello to the game developers I’m having a problem with the restore purchase option I’ve paid the for the game on my old phone and now I’m wanting to restore what I had but it wants me to buy the chapters again What do I do PS this is easily a 5 Star rating game and I loved the story so far, just please help with this one little Encounter I’m having Thanks I also tried re-downloading the game

Great game!. If you loved FF2(Iv) 3(vi) this game is for you!

Great but…. Square-Enix needs to add controller support like Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana has!

No controller support. Yet another poorly made SE app.

Of course it isn't free. The description says so, but the issue I have is the price. Not worth it (in my opinion) the controls are super sensitive, the story is bland and the battle system needs tweaking. A huge fan of the series. This wasn't horrible, but far from great.

Purchased but I’m not able to play. I purchased this game a few years ago on an older iPhone. I have upgraded to the iPhone 14 Pro and now the full version of the game is not there. I can only play the prologue, even though I’ve purchased the full version of the game. Any suggestions?

Please add controller!!. Please add support to use controllers!!

Update the Game!!!!. Game hasn’t been updated since iOS 9 were on 14.4.1 the game only uses like 50% of the screen on my phone.

Not happy!. I was so excited to see, and play the original only to find out it’s only the 1st chapter that’s free. $5.00 for every single chapter after that made me delete the entire app. 🤬

Demo. Games cool for about 30 mins then they want you to buy the next adventure What a bunch of crock

Controller support?. Pc port? Cmon Square. Get with the times. I love the game. Hate the outdated 1997 support in 2021

MAKE THE FULL GAME FREE!. I love the main theme of Final Fantasy, but at least make the full game free.😠

Not unless you're a die hard FF fan. Unless you love the job system and have 15 dollars to spend on jank then pass, even then the free part of the game doesn't even let you experience the job system, which y'know is important to the battle system

BYB. Really!! I have to pay to plays this!!!! No Thank You!!!!!!!

Rip off. You pay so much money for low quality and a bad story

Controller support. I would rate this a 5 star if it had controller support

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh there is monster in the game. That game was flipping fun

Amazing. This game plays a lot like FF6, but it adds a job system in place of the Espers. It's very cool. Reminds me of my childhood.

Cool game love it but should have controller support. Look great game love the style but having controller support would make the game so much better . I WOULD LOVE IF IT HAD CONTROLLER SUPPORT PLEASE .

Cost $$$?. Don’t now what people are talking about it was free for me but ya

Terrible game. Absolute rip off. It costs 14$ for the full game, and the storyline is horribly unoriginal

Controller support. Please support gamepad and controller for us old school gamers.

Entertaining tile Chapter one is complete. Similar to Final Fantasy 1. After Completing Chapter one. Your forced to pay for additional chapters. 😕. I’de rather download it on my PC or go get the original if it’s possible to find. Other then that. It’s not worth paying for additional chapters. Making a cell phone game become expensive.

Loved It. I love this game that I’m thinking of playing right from the beginning. The storyline is great and funny. The job leveling is a little aggravating but hey the rewards outweighs the cons.

Controller Support Please!!!. This game would easily be a 4 or 5 if it had controller support!

Ripped off their own games. Non original story does not tempt me to purchase after the prologue. In fact, my nostalgia is insulted. They do a great job of making an abridged ff4 with name changes. Literally only name changes. No thanks i'd pay for the original before i pay for a mediocre knock off. Which is a shame because the job system looks interesting.

Best app ever. The demo part is so good! It's like having a console game on your phone!!!!! I'm going to buy the full version which is $14!!!!!!

I love this game. My only complaint is no controller support

Good game. Works well.

it's not free. if you want the full game then you need to pay. the part you get free is fun.

Give me move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Give me more!!!!!! Just do is S.E.!!!!!!!!

Trash. I hate this game Final Fantasy brave Evixus way better

Its okay.... Not the best Final Fantasy game, but it is better than Final Fantasy Dimensions II.

Solid Entry. This is a solid FF game, and it features play length comparable to the console titles. Worth the money.

Needs Controller Support for Backbone. Just saying hint hint

Worth it.. There are a lot of bad Final Fantasy games in the AppStore, and there are a handful of great ones. This is one of the great ones.

Great Game. Haters gonna hate

Great Game. I have beaten the game, and loved it the entire time.

Could be better. Look I'm a big fan of old school games like this but... it's just to hard... I mean I can't really get much farther than the castle... what I'm trying to say Is they need to put in a easy mode or tutorial non the least... but otherwise not to bad of a game.

FANTASTIC GAME BUT. Could you please add controller support for that old school feel?

Mediocrity at Premium Prices. The game is “free” until you start playing where they charge you per chapter. Overpriced mediocre and outdated software bundled together by shameless log expensive DLC-style game advancement. Truly a waste of space without any redeeming qualities passed nostalgia- and even that is lacking depth or effort.

Bro.. Srsly, I liked the tutorial BY ITSELF, only to discover that the whole game is like a pay to win. The FF games seem to be ALL like this. I’m disappointed, deny this all you want ppl.

Well worth it!. The game took 90 hours to complete. For anyone that has played Final Fantasy before you know it's a long game. For $14 you get full immersion, vice $60+ from a counsel system.

Controller support please!. Great game but needs a controller update desperately!

Paid for upgrade, still no cut scene to advance play!. For starters, imagine a string of curses here. Played the free version—no Castle Lux cut scene. Bought the upgrade ($15, thank you very much!)—no Castle Lux cut scene. Have been grinding and grinding and grinding. Jeez! What the heck? A horrible experience in what should be a delightful game. Do I dare delete the app from my iPad, reinstall and grind for another hour and a half? (Did that four times w/out deleting app with no luck). Will the cut scene finally happen? Will I be left hanging—again! Oy!

What a rip off. They get you sucked in with 10 minutes worth of gameplay for free. Then you have to buy the next chapters if you want to play the game. Don’t waste your time if you are looking for a free game

Hidden costs are a turn off. Ya got one star simply for nostalgia sake. Cmon now, you don’t read a book and pay by the chapter. Why would I buy any FF game knowing this is how y’all operate? Be upfront with the cost. Sides, without the nostalgia aspect it’s sincerely not worth the $14. Get over yaself 🙄
