Absolutely epic - great for the novice. Started making review videos because I was trying to film the stupid SRAM rear derailleur on my new mountain bike, and then ran into issues with a cheap action camera compared to a GoPro I just got at the same time. Then it became a review video of those, then a DJI Osmo Mobile, and now other stuff. Point is, I'm a software engineer and a musician with no idea how to arrange thoughts outside of notes. I just wanted something I could pictures with and have stock, simple images to arrange shots and bundle scenes for various locations. This does that. And if you have zero idea how to number your scenes or think the example looks great but can't figure out the shorthand terminology, don't worry: it guides you. Seriously. Just make a new one, and then touch each entry and you'll be able to scroll for selections. Those cool stock pictures are also available once you select a framing for the shot. And you can add doodles for the storyboard too. The only things I've had to really think about was scene and camera numbering. It will build a usable collection of entries for your slate automatically if you like once you enter basic stuff from what was scrolled. I tend to think of cameras by make and model (years of experience with more specific information needed in other professions) so keeping them mapped to numbers is something I was getting used to already. Much easier to get information out of the you had rolling around in your head to others and be consistent. Big help with media management using the generated naming convention.

Pretty good but only 6 shots in shot list?. It's a pretty good app, worth the money. But it only gives me the option of 6 shots in the shot list per scene. Trust me I'm shooting more than 6 shots per scene, hoping there will be a patch sooner than later, but still good app. Would be great with unlimited shots.

Love the app. Any plans for iCloud syncing?. Really enjoying the app. Keeps me organized on my projects, scouting and shoot days. Just curious if any future updates will include iCloud syncing? Would love to make edits on my iPad that I can also make adjustments from my phone and or Mac. Thanks!

Film. If you are a film maker you need this! I never buy apps but this one was so worth it

Good production tool. Just used on a one day set and it worked great. Only thing would be nice is to import data somehow. You have to enter data manually. Other then that it's very good.

Great app. Great for organizing a shoot and planing what needs to be done on a daily schedule. It was a great help on my last project. Only request to developers would be to add options to storyboard feature. Options like camera movement and position I added that information in my notes for each one but it would b nice to have it preset into the app That being said loved the app liked using it and encourage other to get it .

Adding images to story boards. Anybody else app crashes when trying to add a picture ?????

Awesome awesome awesome!!!. This software am only giving four stars… And it’s mainly on my in a why it’s far four stars. The more I use this software the more I realize that it has a lot of features and a lot to offer. I’m glad that I’m tech savvy enough and able to find a lot of the stuff, but I wish that they were to tutorials on the software. I was able to create a ShotList and a storyboard within two days of using the software! I highly recommend it to all!

Unusable. I don't know what happened, but the newest version is unusable. It crashes randomly, and often, usually after entering any data. It used to be a helpful tool, now I wish i hadn't wasted my money--and hours of trying to enter shoot information.

Ease of use a huge plus. We all have too many things to do, much less learn a new program. We’re an agency in Houston Texas and been using this app since 2012. It works and is fast and that’s what we’re looking for.

Great app for the mobile filmmaker!. Love using this app thus far. It is nice to be able to work from my phone and check off shots and scenes as we do them. The only thing that annoys me is how small the buttons are. Makes it hard to get it to figure out which one I'm tapping.

Great Customer servcie. So far I'm very happy with this app and it does most everything I'd hope….any features that are missing will hopefully be in the next update. Any issues that I had were "user error" and were more that quickly resolved by the FAST customer support response…who went above and beyond as far as I'm concerned. If you are on the fence about purchasing this App, I say DO IT! If for no other reason than the customer support. ps….Shotlist is really a great way to organize your shoot and keep your crew on the same page

Good to guzzle. This one yah sell off. Worth the money and the recent upgrade seems much more fun in store, I cannot wait the work it on my next project.

Crashes when deleting. I created a few projects but it crashes when trying to delete one of them.

Awesome...but. But I wish it created a call sheet to go along with the schedule. Other than that it's awesome!!

Not very easy to use. Adding shots is fairly difficult and it really isn't easy to use. Nice looking, but not worth buying.

Love it. A wonderful alternative to an overflowing binder.

Not as bad as reviewed. This is probably only my 2/3 review of an app, but really wanted to show my support for an app that has so much potential that I'm hoping this encourages the developers. I just used this today on one of my first shoots and while it may be too "simple" for some users and without enough features it was absolutely great for me. Just enough to reference with my script on set an check off or reorder shots as needed! I even used to iPad camera to snap a few angles of what I thought we needed. I did crash a few times in the pre-pro stage when I was inputting some scene numbers but with the new more frequent autosave it wasn't enough to make me refuse to use the app. It was only really happening when picking scene numbers or locations. No crashes occurred during the shoot when checking off shots as done or rearranging order. I say give it a try, you might be pleasantly surprised like I was. I definitely plan on using this app again.

Very useful. The day after I got the app I used it on a 5 day commercial shoot. Used it as my on set strip board and it worked great. Was able to easily reorganize my shot order as things came up and the "done" feature really helps keep track of what is left to shoot. Very very happy with the app.

Excellent tool!. I bought this when it first appeared on the app store. Version 1 had some issues but the developer has addressed them all and added functionality that makes this a true replacement for the traditional stripboard. In fact, theres really no reason to resort to the old pen and paper approach Shotlist offers more in every way We now use it on all our productions, and being able to share shotlists through Dropbox makes it indispensable. The developers seem very committed to making Shotlist the digital standard for shot planning, with regular updates and listening to user requests. Great product!

Very Smart Production App. I have had several versions of this very smart and handy app. The developers show a better understanding of the production process than other, and sometimes more expensive apps. Their response to user suggestions from the field is very commendable. They seem to be dedicated to making the best app of it's kind.

Great. Love it. I would give it five stars if the storyboard gave me he option of sketching my scene. It only lets you take a pic or choose an image from the library for right now.

Great for planning travel videos. Although this maybe overkill for my modest needs, I found it invaluable for staying organized during a couple of days of shooting travel footage in Paris. It can be so easy to overlook key shots on a hectic schedule but I was able to include screenshots of maps and reference images and then reorganize everything according to location. It even helped me to previsualize my final edit. The app itself feels mature and robust. A lot of thought has obviously gone into it. Highly recommended for a wide variety of video/film shoots.

Awesome App. Does everything i need for scheduling shoots. Coupled with a drawing app for storyboards, it is probably the best app for a working filmmaker.

Best app that needs Google Maps feature. I love this app and can't wait for the next update. If each scene has a gps location marked on google maps it would be PERFECT!!!!!!!

Almost amazing. This is a really impressive app that I suspect will become amazing in one or two more updates. As others have mentioned, there are some really weird inefficiencies in the user interface. It took me several minutes to figure out how to add a new shot, the button that means "ok take me to the next field" isn't consistently and conveniently located, little things like that. But the big update that I hope is coming would be the ability to sketch a shot using your iPad instead of taking, organizing, and linking images from your iPad library. Add the basic functionality of DrawSomething to this app for creating storyboards on the go, and this becomes a five star app even with those other quirks.

Useful and fast. This software keeps you organized when planning and executing shots. I use it even to "think out loud" how I would film something. I like it better than most other phone based tools because it's easy and fast to use (it even includes shot mock ups) without compromising the essentials - you can print and email your work for collaboration. Awesome!

Great and easy to use!. A great way to schedule a film shoot if you are on the go. I love the ability to add photos. It doesn't create a call sheet but I'm not going to give mark it down for it.

Garbage I want a refund!. Unintuitive and confusing . I can’t get anything to work

Excellent film production tool!. I use this daily. It's a full-featured shot list tool. The best one I've used so far. Very responsive UI and makes my workflow a lot easier! Thnx again! Keep up the good work. Much appreciated.

Great App. This app is awesome! I am a professional filmmaker and I use it for all my projects. It is super easy to create shots, edit them, and reorganise. As someone who storyboards on actual paper (luddite, huh?) the import photo from camera is also useful. This is a great app, recommend to all!

Really like this.. I just bought this program. The developers really put some thought into this or else consulted with filmmakers on this. Lots of handy features that make it easy to create easily and share. I just worked up a project and it was just nice to use this program to do it. Good job, developers. I look forward to updates.

Works great for me. I downloaded this app after the last update (on February 28), and it appears that the problems that others were noting have been fixed. I have experienced no crashes, or lost data. In fact, I have to say, I really like this app. It is obvious that the developer has put a lot of thought and effort into it, and he seems genuinely interested in dealing with users' issues. When I e-mailed him with a small issue I was having, he responded immediately. I sent him a screen shot of the problem, he identified the cause, and assured me that it would be fixed in the next update. Best customer service experience I have had to date with any app! Don't let the other reviews discourage you -- this is a good app!

Deleted most of my scheduling work. I just opened the app today to discover that it had erased over 100 scenes from the strip board. Boo.

Love it. I have been using ShotList for several years now and absolutely love it. It is a huge help scheduling my shoots. I only wish that they also had it available as computer software instead of just apple ipad / iPhone apps. I would gladly pay a monthly fee for such an option.

Over all Great app but could use a few features.. Over all I really like this app and its simplistic nature, but could use a few extra features like a gear and prop list to be used in scenes. Also a more in depth cast section. With things like contact info etc. maybe even some more character options like a bio, and a place to put down what drives a character. I know this is just a shot list app but could be helpful as an option. And really could use a Crew Section for scenes too. So you can mark who should be there etc. and one last thing is Time slots for shots..that would be very helpful.. Hopefully the App Creators will see this.

Great surprising find. I stumbled across this app and thought I try it as we wanted to transition from a word doc and something more structured. Had it for two weeks and it’s great, deep enough for great organization and creativity but not overwhelming to learn.

Promising but too buggy for production. The app has promise. However, it is riddled with bugs. Both crash causing bugs and bugs that will cause the program to stick in text entry mode without allowing you to complete the entry and move on. Adding shots is non-intuitive and a bit confusing. If the dev can fix these issues, I'd reccomend it. Otherwise, save your money.

Starting to regret paying for this. I was just about to give this app a good review until I realized that half of my project suddenly vanished. This is extremely frustrating because I spent over 4 hours adding and organizing my shots. This app just continues to miss the ball. Looking into alternatives.

Excellent!. Exactly what I was looking for. I only wish I hadn't had to purchase a couple of other storyboard apps to learn this was the one!

Awesome App, but!. I just wish you could add more shots to the storyboard not just 6, other than that its a awesome app very helpful!. Im happy with it.

Worked for me. My needs are simple: string of shots for a single scene. So this app worked awesome for that; no crashes or deleted info. I do not need the stripboard or the cast functions or even the location. I do in-house production for non-profit. I used this app off my iPad and it was great. I do wish I could customize a bit. Instead of Scene 1, Scene 2 etc, I would love it to read Shot 1, Shot 2. For a new scene I would just start a new project. Also, I wish there was a way to tag a shot as being a certain camera (or camera position). That way I can quickly see which shots to shoot from say Position A and which from B and so on. Would help shoot non linear saving time. I tried using the Delay tag to set certain shots apart and that kinda worked. Mass potential. Keep improving please!!

Production planning tool - not a shot list tool!. Great tool for planning a shoot overall and managing a stripboard. But aside from being able to upload photos from your library, this app has zero to do with "shot planning". If you need to organize shot plans, images in a storyboard format, identify camera/lens settings, lighting requirements, camera movements, blocking, etc. for each shot—look elsewhere. The developer names this app "ShotList" and then acts astonished that someone is asking where the shot list features are. Frankly, I am astonished.

Too good to be true. This app is too good at what it does. I've been waiting for something to go wrong with it for weeks now, but nothing. No problems, no crashes... Feel obliged to write this review.

Great app. Love the app. Takes a while to wrap your mind around the way it works, but once you do, it's very useful. Would recommend this for anyone producing vlogs, movies, commercials and more.

Thank you developers for this amazing app!. THANK YOU for this app. I had my first major filming last month and it kept everything organized. One request: is it possible to link projects? For example, I have the project that’s by scene order. To make scheduling the crew better, I duplicated the project and arranged the schedule by cast members. Now, when I mark that a scene has been shot, it would be very beneficial if both files reflected the mark. Or if I altered a shot in one of the scenes, both files show that altered shot? I hope I’m making sense here. It’s nice to have a project in scene order AND a scheduling order at the same time. But seriously, thank you for this app. It really helped me organize and make sure every shot was done in a very tight deadline. During the shooting day, things can get very hectic and this app made sure I didn’t forget anything.

I wish I could get my money back.. I spent more time re-entering old information than I did adding new. Through the multiple crashes and an inability to save progress properly it became unusable. It's not worth the aggravation.

Great App For Films. I have used this app on a bunch of projects and highly recommend it!

Shot list makes getting shots a cinch. Very well thought out interface, much like a shot strip board if you've ever used one. Ability to add notes and location info as well as syncing is great. Overall a great app that'll get better as its refined

Needs work. It's a really REALLY great concept, but still needs more development. For example, you can't share a working document for other users to make changes and MOST annoyingly, you can ONLY use it on an iPhone or iPad so if you want to use it from your MacBook to tidy things up it make amendments before sending it out to an ENTIRE crew - forget it!

Broken. Could be a great app if it didn't crash every single time I try to import an image from the picture library on my iPad. Without story boards, it's of very limited use.

OLLiE. I recently bought this app with the intention of having a good paperless solution for managing the schedule for a short film and it's great. The process of entering the data is easy. I have it running on my Ipad and it's awesome to use on set. Being able to email the schedule as a one liner to the crew and sharing over drop box is great. I've been using the photo store option as a way to keep a log of continuity as we shoot the film. Excellent. I even suggested a few things for the next update and I got a response the same day with what the developer thought and what they have planned or the next few versions. I'm really looking forward to where this app is going. If you take you time with developing your schedule with script notes you should have everything you need for shooting your film without massive amounts of paper.

Top App, A must have for FIlm Makers. I recommend this app for all film makers as it allows a great way to keep track of shots while on the go without the need for carrying a ton of papers with you. I see big things for this app as it develops. Cant wait for the next updates

Makes video shoots a snap. This app is awesome especially the ability to reschedule and copy scenes. Building lists of locations, characters makes forms fast to fill out. I love it and the price is right for an app this useful. It is also the only one I've seen in the app store that has this kind of functionality. My only wish is that I didn't have to keep switching pages when filling in scene info. Pop ups and just being able to type in text fields would be a lot faster.

Can't work without this. I work with VFX. Being able to hold all my shot info in the palm of my hand is a Godsend. Paper and binders don't always fair to well on set when working with visual Effects. This app is film makers dream

Interesting concept but.... This app has potential but is currently too limited in features. The lack of import functions makes it completely useless since the interface to create new shot is counter-intuitive and overly complicated. The app needs some built in sorting/grouping/filtering features in order to help planning. 13$ completely wasted. Congrats for having generated enough interest for me to send you my money but this app ain't worth 13$ and I'm very disappointed. I wondered why I had never heard of it, now I know.

Nice app. Does a great job on set. Very cleverly made. It would be much better to be able to input data on a PC using a full sized keyboard. That is my only beef.

Easy to work with. Glad something like this is out for the iPhone. Just working on a small show, so it meets my expectations. Would love to see what kind of updates are instore.

Good start.. But plenty of room for improvement before it's 5 star worthy. Improved sync with script writing tools is a must. Looking forward to seeing where this one goes.

Seems alright but a bit clunky. Should be an easier way to sync projects between iPhone and ipad

Very useful. I wrote and produced a YouTube series called VAMPZ! and this app was invaluable in keeping things organized.

Not ready for pros, but there's potential.. This app seems pretty cool, and I could see it being turned into something very useful for a professional filmmaker. But to be honest, this app seems like it's split between trying to be a stripboard app and a storyboard app. It doesn't do either particularly well, because it's trying to do both. It either needs to focus on one, or add a ton of functionality into both sections to make it useable. Right now, it's kind of neither/nor. Here's a short list of my gripes: There's surprisingly little edibility when it comes to the storyboards. Why not have the same amount of editable details one has for the stripboard for the storyboards. Similar to a camera log. Let me note things like shot name (5A), type (CU, MS, WS, etc), description (MCU on bad guy), intended lens maybe, intended filters maybe, a note section (shoot this after shot X because of….), etc. Also let me reorder them.Marking-wise, there's a big red x option. A green check mark would be a good addition, so that there would be a difference between "Done" and "Cut". Maybe some sort of "shoot later" option as well. If there was a "shoot later" functionality, it would need to be made clear higher-up in the chain (stripboard mode, for instance), since it would be easy to forget about that one shot that you missed if it's buried all the way in Storyboard mode. The Take picture option for the storyboard doesn't seem to work for me…. Can you only have 6 panes per scene in storyboard mode? That's absurd. I couldn't figure out how to add more. The underlying principal of diving up a shotlist via a strip board is a little iffy to me. So often we shoot a single scene across multiple days. Or a single shot from one scene (an insert, for example), is pushed to another day. Or sometimes you'll have a montage where you steal various shots over various days. There is no functionality for any of this anywhere. The app assumes a single scene will be shot in a single day, and that things will stay nice and tidy at all times. This is rarely the case. Some flexibility needs to be added without expecting the user to jump through hoops. Having to do math in 8ths is confusing. 3 3/8 pages should be 3 3/8, not 27/8. When you tap Scene, Page, 8ths, Location, Description, and Cast, it becomes editable. But you have to hit the I button thing to edit notes. Not consistent. Cast numbers don't seem to be editable. Nor is there anyway to assign a particular number to a particular character, aside from adding them in order the first time. Nor is it possible to view the stripboard with character number rather then character name. For some productions this number doesn't matter. But for larger-scale productions, it's incredibly important for many departments. In stripboard mode, there is no way to add extra strips for things like the beginning of the day, company moves, lunch/breaks, etc. I haven't tried planning out an entire shoot using the app yet, but I can only imagine how much of a nightmare it would be doing so on an iphone. It's great that it's an iPhone/iPad app (and I'm sure it would be a little less painstaking to do in on an iPad), but there really needs to be a companion desktop app to facilitate content creation. There also badly needs to be some sort of cross functionality between EP scheduling and Final Draft. Having to type all that stuff in by hand is a mess. It pay a little extra for that type of cross-platform functionality. I liked this app alot, and hope to see it evolve and improve. The recent drop in price is also a smart move. At the moment it's just not ready to be used in a professional environment, but I can see alot of potential in it, and hope to add it to my filmmaking arsenal sometime soon.

Grr. Could not get it to add shots in other days added. No help.

crashes. all the time.
