"MorphWiz, by design, affords incredible expressive subtlety for anyone who explores its endless possibilities. Rock on!!!" Ge Wang, Co-Founder, CTO, and Chief Creative Officer of Smule (creators of Magic Piano)

"Jordan's very capable use of his unique invention- MorphWiz must be a Godsend to his road crew. It's important to note that no Moog synthesizers were harmed in its production."
Keith Emerson.

"It's completely awesome and inspiring to play!
Absolutely loving it!"
Eric Persing-Spectrasonics

MorphWiz is the second app to bear the Jordan Rudess name. MorphWiz is partly inspired by the Haken Continuum Fingerboard, a radically innovative and revolutionary MIDI instrument that Jordan uses on stage and in the studio with Dream Theater.

Like the Continuum, Jordan Rudess' MorphWiz is a vertical grid based musical instrument that allows a whole new level of expressive control!

If you're a beginner, you’ll love experimenting with all of the presets, but if you’re a professional musician, you will soon be blown away by one of the coolest methods of controlling sound that you've ever laid hands on.

Jordan states, “Our goal was to create an instrument that would allow the seamless morphing of the audio and visual domain while delivering a seamless musical experience. I believe the iPhone/iPad multitouch platform opens up a whole new world of creation of electronic musical instruments and we’re proud MorphWiz is our first major offering. My experience and involvement with the Haken Continuum and extraordinary Bebot app brought to life an advanced pitch control system that is still uncharted territory for many in today’s music instrument world. This is the heart of MorphWiz.”

Amazing app, but... I bought this app a while ago, on Christmas Day. Probably my favorite app. It's very easy to use, has a lot of neat presets, and is extremely customizable, down to the reverb and delay, as well as vibrato and chorus. However, after about 3 weeks of use, the app stopped working. I can still open it, create presets, and basically do anything I could, but I can't hear it.... I can hear the other apps (sample wiz, tachyon, etc.) perfectly fine, but the audio on this one quit. The app is a 5 star app, but this problem really dragged down my review.

Beautiful AND Innovative. As a fellow developer I'm amazed at the amount of effort that has gone into the app! Truly a labor of love. Everything from the beautiful sound to the usability is well thought out in a way that makes it easy to use for casual users, while at the same time providing a high degree of control to those who need it via tons of options. And great use of presets, I have yet to go through all of them! WELL DONE!!

First Music Instrument for iPad.... that allows me to play music with expression. To groove! This includes several strokes of genius that converts the iPad into an instrument instead of attempting to imitate an instrument. By setting up so that only the correct notes are played (by selecting the scale and modality) in tune (with rounding to the nearest note) even babbling sounds good, and with practice it can become an actual instrument like the Chapman Stick, but instead this should be called the Rudess Pad. Great Music App! Great Job! UPDATE: Thanks guys for your effort. This version does load and play on my underpowered 3G iPhone. Now I can riff on the go!

It's a full instrument!. For those that complain about the price, just realize that it truly is a full instrument. It's a massive keyboard with the variability of a three hundred dollar piece of tech, and it's a full instrument. Once you get the feel for how it works (there are tutorials online) it's quite easy to experiment with and play. Some fiddling with your device CAN allow music to play while you use Morphwiz (Dream Theater's Instrumental tracks make wonderful playing fields for improvisations), and the recording feature (as well as re-recording) make all your favorite little melodies easy to show off. Awesome app from an awesome artist. 5 stars forever!

Dont open. Need support to iOS 11!

No iOS 11 update?!. Waiting on iOS 11 update so I can use this app that I love. Will definitely give 5 stars once that is done.

Update please. Can you please update so is can use it on iOS 11.

Best sounding, most playable synth app so far!. Very intuitive, great sounds, and low latency. A truly instrumental instrument! I'm going to hook it up to my DAW and record samples with Ableton Live and Logic! I have bought just about all of the music apps for iPad, and many for the iPhone. And the one thing that I find missing in all of them is the ability to enable an external sync source. Just imagine the potential!! The ability to sync multiple ipads, iPhone, iPods with DAWs and endless softsynths, as well as actual hardware! This could be done easily with the open source DSmidi Wifi server that many control surface apps use such as the AC7-Pro. I would pay double for an app like this with that capability!

Amazing. This app is one of the most amazing things I've seen. I bought it on a whim, after I'd watched many, many, many videos of people using it, including Jordan's videos while he was designing it. The depth of customization is unreal, and I'm WAY out of my depth with this one. But that's my fault, not the app's. I love what this app is capable of, and I need to do dedicate a lot more time to figuring it out. I'm looking forward to it. For a first app, Mr Rudess, this is unbelievable!

Deep, powerful, and expressive!. At first glance MorphWiz seems like a cool and fun way to make sound, but it is really a very deep and expressive musical instrument. Under the hood is a powerful synthesizer, and on the multitouch surface is a unique and expressive way to control pitch, timbre, and loudness with your fingers. This combination turns an iPad into a truly innovative musical instrument that allows you to quickly make pleasing sound, but like any traditional instrument, it offers the precise control that, with practice, allows you to fully express your musical ideas. MorphWiz makes you want to master its incredible power, and provides a very satisfying musical experience! This app is to me the first truly 5-star app in the music category! Deep, powerful, sounds great, stable, well thought-out. Enough - I have to get back to playing!

Absolutely astounding .... From one of the best musical minds of all time, Jordan Rudess, comes an astounding application. Not sure there's anything Jordan hasn't thought of for this app. If you're a musician, at any level from tinkerer to touring professional, you really need to buy this. It's an amazing connection between math, music and visual imagery - and, just as you'd expect from Jordan, it rocks. It's the best $10 app I've ever bought in the iTunes store ... strongly, STRONGLY, recommend it.

Bebot, refined. JR has earned instant attention from any iPod or iPhone musician... This app has a lot of the insight into performance I'd expect, taking one of the most interesting existing music apps, bebop, and refining the core idea. The result is a powerful instrument that is fun to play and which has some great new ideas in there. The responsiveness and human feel is awesome, there are several types of simple synthesis to chose from, many different scales, excellent capabilities to save and share presets, etc. The ability to layer and record your performance feels a lot like playing with a good loop pedal. The eye candy provides a little visual feedback but mostly annoyed me, but it can be configured some as well as turned off. Good chorus and delay. Really the only downer to me is the sound itself... It's good, but has lost some of the simplicity that makes bebop sound phat without being quite sophisticated enough to avoid having all of the many presets tend to have a distinctive similarity, a kind of space theremin sound to everything. If this app could break out of that (maybe adsr or filters would help) it would be a timeless addition to the short list of beloved synths musicians just dig. Definitely worth the buy, but keep improving it Jordan, k?

Swarm intelligence. So Eric is my big kahuna boss, I work in sales and marketing!! You should hire me to market this great app!! He told me about you and this app so I bought it. I thought I would support your idea!! Lol!! But I love this app!!! Omg it is so much fun and a great way to relax and forget about a stressful day. I am no musician. Can play a little gutair. What I love about this is that anyone and everyone can play and it is original and sounds terrific. I love my iPad and I adore this app!! Thank you, Jude

A morphable blast. Are you going to be iOS 11 ready or do we need to delete you? I love the creativity that went into this app. It is very flexible and is intuitively constructed. Everyone from a mere noodler to a professional musician can find a home here. Well done.

Amazing inststrument. I'm a musician, kinda, and I love morph wiz. It's a lot of fun and after playing it you get the sense that the iPad has the potential to be a unique and very usable new format for creating music. My only issue with morph wiz, like others have mentioned, is that despite being such a unique instrument, it doesn't quite make the cut for real song making. It's also a wee bit overpriced. Some feedback: Instruments like thumb jam and even sound Prizm are great for song making. I'd love to see morph wiz put out a second version with some updates. Two of the biggest issues are the lack of usable sound types, and the unfriendly Ui. Please make morph wiz the instrument it could be. It would be awesome to see it reach it's full potential! Good work on developing such a unique tool, and people seriously buy Morph Wiz it's awesome! Thanks!

One of the best synth apps ever. I love this app, use it in performance. It’s unique and beautiful and intuitive; and though It has been out for years, the developer keeps it updated. You should buy this.

They did it again ! Just beautiful !. I went to buy a sound system just for MorphWiz. It is fantastic! Great design, functionality, easy, done by real artists. Sound and graphics: 100 stars! and...at a reasonable price. Thank you. My idea would be to combine it with Hexatone..could they be syncronized in some way? Would like to have options to adjust the tempo without changing the pitch? Anyway: congratulations for this great app.

App won’t work with new iOS. I can’t open app it keeps saying needs update from developer

Beautiful.... Disclosure - I know and admire Jordan, and worked with him and Dream Theater on "Octavarium" and "Score" (you can see me conducting on the latter). I have tried to put aside those facts for this review, and have looked at MorphWiz on it's own terms. I love this! If you have seen or played the Haken Continuum, you know what an expressive and liberating tool it is. This app has much of the same vibe at a much lower price point, and is a synthesizer as well (the Haken is solely a controller). It's actually a playable musical instrument, and gets beyond the traditional keyboard interface and "into the cracks" between the keys, more like a violin. The fact that it is multi-touch (you can play and bend several notes independently) is just amazing. I have had absolutely no problems running it on an iPhone 3GS (with OS 3.1.1). I think this app would be really wonderful on an iPad, given the multi-touch capability. The larger screen would give greater much pitch resolution. I have to say it's the first music app to get me seriously thinking about getting an iPad. $9.99 may seem high for an iPhone app, but given the imagination and musicality put into this tool, I think it's a bargain.

It's the spearhead of the wave of the future.. I'm primarily a guitarist, but at times I've wanted a keyboard solo here and there, or textures that have more freedom and malleability than just using pre-sampled loops. MorphWiz is the ticket for this, and more. I've handed the app to a few 'real' keysmen, and boy oh boy, the possibilities are truly endless here. In a few years, or sooner, every cutting edge musician is going to have an iPad in their musical arsenal, and MorphWiz is the tip of that particular spear. As you practice, as with any instrument, it sounds better and better. I will most certainly be using it in the studio, and on stage as well. MorphWiz is true new musical instrument. Much like the Chapman Stick, it isn't quite a keyboard, it isn't quite like playing a guitar. But if you have even a bit of music theory under your belt (the understanding of chord structure, an understanding of the root of the chord) MorphWiz will serve you well. It isn't a toy, not if you are using it properly. You can change tonal parameters, and monkey with the presets till form follows function. It's worth every penny, and then some. Certainly one of, if not 'the best', serious musical apps in the store. If I could give it 10 Stars I would, it's THAT good!

Great for pads!. I love the sounds here. Lots of presets and definitely some I recognize from your work, Mr. Rudess! All of your apps provide a new creative platform that inspire me to revisit all chords and scales in a different light. From the bottom of my heart, thank you! -Brendan Hasson

Best Instrument. This is so far the best musical instrument on the app store. Absolutely amazing how many sounds you can produce with it, and how easy you can change the settings to create your own patches. Morphwiz is a serious piece of software that not only will approach music to non musicians but it also will provide a set of new sounds to professional musicians for live performances or even in their recordings. Jordan and Kevin have done an impressive work here, congratulations! Alright!

Awesome...for a little while at least.. Looks as if the issues with failing to load properly on older iPhones still hasn't been totally resolved. App will not start consistently on my 3G running OS 4.0.1. However, the two times it did actually open up, this app blew mind. I mean, this is a fully playable continuum with sounds; you can't ask for much more from a iPhone instrument. In fact, if they can get the issues resolved I fully intend to use the app as an instrument onstage with my band. This app is beyond words cool, just wish they'd hammer out these bugs.

Very nice alternative music instrument. MorphWiz rules, it's amazingly expressive and very stable for a first version. The list features is comprehensive, but the interface is so well thought out that it's easy to pick up. I'm looking forward to more synth features since the current possibilities are a bit limited. Knowing Jordan, this is just a start though and in the coming months I'm convinced that MorphWiz will reach even higher sonic capabilities. The interaction with the visuals is very immersive and I've heard that a next version could allow you to project these through the iPad's VGA adapter. This will create interesting possibilities for on-stage visuals.

Awesome!. Thanks for all the updates. These fantastic music making apps by Wizdom are better than ever!!! And IAA!!!

Aff. application is outdated by IOS 11

Spacewiz update request. Please update and make Spacewiz compatible with the latest software and iPads thanks

Works fine on my iPod Touch with 4.0. I'm fortunate to have had Jordan show me this on his iPad, but as I only have an iPod Touch (3rd gen. Mod. MC011LL) I waited for this to come out. I had put 4.0 on it the day before I got it, and it didn't want to start the first time, but has been been just fine since. I showed Jordan and he was very happy with the way it responded- it seems to do everything it is supposed to, which is really a lot! I haven't had a lot of time to play with it, but I can already tell that $10 was nothing to pay for this. I am very tempted to get an iPad just to run it- he uses one with it in his rig on stage. I have said: if I walked into a music store and found this on something like an iPad, dedicated, for $800, I would think it's incredibly cool and a very good deal. I hope you that are having problems with it get a solution soon...

Okay ! . !. I don,t know much about music. I just bought this app because it has been on the top charts for some time now. It is weerd. I will be playing around with it more than the other music app because it is so different. A 4 star rating for now and when I see some of the complaints address by others I will be glad to update to 5 stars. Now it is up to the makers and their update. As I said I would do, give you 5 stars, if you guys fix what others were asking. HERE IS *5* STARS ... I see you were already on it.... Magic

Recording. This app is awesome, but for me, they have do improve the recording features. It will be perfect if Morphwiz have the same or better recordings parameters like the ThumbJam application. It will be cool if they add options like record loops and sessions. I use the ThumbJam app and the FourTrack app to create my own music so I can enjoy it in a Cd or my iPod. I want to record full length song with morphwiz but actually I can't. So please Mr. Ruddes, improve the feature or recording, this will be extremely helpful to the recording musicians like me. Besides that, this app is perfect.

Great expressive instrument. I'm a synth nut, and for me as an ambient electronic music recording artist I find the sounds to be quite nice. Do some sound similar? Yeah, some do, but it's not like you can't adjust and alter them a bit. I rarely use presets in anything without mangling them to my liking. Anyway, I like this. I've skipped MorphWiz many times but now that I finally bought it, I love it. I wish I had sooner, but the bad reviews scared me off. I'm finding this to be a very nice and useful app. It's not for rappers, or hip hop. Maybe that's where the negativity comes from? At any rate this is great, it's deeper than it looks and fits in great for electronic music types like me. It's not just a novelty.

The first truly great new instrument since the invention of the synth. Wow, this is an amazing accomplishment. This represents the first truly great new interface design in many, many years. Not only is it imminently playable and musical, but the visual component actually assists in the creation of the music. There is a tremendous amount to explore here, and I've barely scratched the surface, but this definitely turns the iPad into a true performance instrument, and the iPhone into a great entertainment device. There's a lot to like here, for both amateur and professional musicians. Be sure to watch the tutorial videos at the authors' site.

An app for performers. You can tell that a performing musician had a lot of input into this app. It has synthesized sounds, and they're really nice sounds, customizable all sorts of ways. But MorphWiz is all about the interface, baby ... it's like a magical little stringed instrument sitting there in your lap, really easy to pour your expressiveness through your finger tips into the iPad. I was a professional violinist before I went digital, and MorphWiz and GeoSynth, each in its own way, give me more of the tactile connection to the iPad than any other app. It's all about the experience of making the music and not letting anything else get in the way. I was a little offput at first by the eye candy aspect of this app .. the swirly colors and animated effects ...but I went from ignoring them to really getting into them ... it's another way of involving me at a visceral level in the musicifying that's going on between me and the instrument.

Why???. One question: Why is such an amazing synth still not AB3 optimised or available as AUV3? Any future plans of going in that direction?

Most useful and playable synth yet. I love this app. The interface is deceptively simple, but there's a lot under the hood you can adjust, tweak and customize (in real time, while playing!). Then it gets out of the way and lets you just play. The interface allows for very expressive and creative real-time performance. It took me less than an hour to feel completely comfortable with the entire app, and start putting it to interesting use! The sound shaping options offer a wide range of variety and flavor, and with each new sound I'm inspired to dig deeper. I'm sure the sound shaping tools will expand as the app matures. I've already created a number of custom Presets, and done some cool loops with them using the Record and Looping/Overdubbing feature. Finally, a lot of apps offer next to nothing for support or learning (it's almost like, "A manual?? What's that!"). The MorphWiz website provides in-depth info, demos, and a complete set of video tutorials explaining each part of the interface. Not only what it does and how, but also how to apply each feature. MorphWiz is definitely the most playable synth I've tried on the iPad. It'll be a regular 'go to' for me when I'm feeling creative or looking for inspiration.... I'm having a ton of fun with it so far!

Pure Genius. This music creation application is so brilliant, yet so extremely easy to use, its range of potential users is as vast as its range of musical sounds. When I purchased and downloaded the app, I had never previously tested it out. However, its creator, Jordan Rudess of the iconic prog metal band Dream Theater, has proven his brilliance time and again over his sprawling career, so I figured the app was most likely worth the price tag (only 10 bucks). I have had so much fun this app and I've barely scratched the surface. Even my 7-month-old daughter has been experimenting with new sounds--I'm thinking of hooking her up to GarageBand! MorphWiz definitely lives up to the hype: it's affordable, it's user-friendly, it's groundbreaking. Music lovers won't be disappointed with this amazing app.

wizawesome!. i found this app by doing what i do every morning. i check the music category on my ipad for what was released that morning. this morning, i saw an app logo of a male witch/wizard, which instantly attracted my attention, being that i love magic and what-not. next, i checked oyt the description... it seemed like it could be an amazing app, and it came down to one thing for me. does morphwiz support sonoma's audiocopy/audiopaste, which i look for in all music apps. i didn't see it under the description, so i went to the morphwiz website and found jordan rudess's twitter page and asked him through a tweet. he responded yes. then, a few hoyrs later he held a video conferwnce, taking questions and explaining more about morphwiz. once i was assured of audiocopy/audiopaste and that there was a metronome, the rest is history. i just purchased and ran through the app. it is amazing and very much inspiring! my list of what will be my core ipad music production apps is steadily growing. StudioTrack, Reforge, and now MorphWiz. I am waiting on BeatMaker 2 to be released. this app rocks!

Okay, but not particularly special. I'm usually long-winded but just don't have much to say about MorphWiz. It's an older app, and I know that Jordan's apps were pioneering when they first came out. But compared something like ThumbJam or the many synthesizer apps available now, I just didn't find the control scheme or soundbank to be all that inspiring. The best feature is probably the control you have over effects (like the repeat/hold freeze, which is cool). But I'm just not finding as much use for the app as I had hoped.

Now this is an instrument that uses the expressivity of the iPad. As a professional keyboardist and audio technologist for the last 20+ years, I've always been focused on the expressive capabilities of electronic instruments. Morphwiz is the first app that I've seen for the iPad that really harnesses the capabilities of the medium to allow a user to alter the timbre of the sounds they are playing in real time. The sounds themselves are first rate (though to be fair, I'm a progressive rocker at heart, so Jordan's sounds would naturally appeal to me), and the modulation pad on the upper left part of the screen really distills the most important timbral change parameters for a given sound to a single slider. Add to that the synthesis and custom programming capabilities, the sequencer, and the trippy graphics in the background, and you have yourself a first-rate app. Very well done, Jordan. If I see you at NAMM, I'll come up and congratulate you on this work in person.

Amazing. Been doing music almost 20 years best sound device on here hands down!! Next in line is the korg ikaossilator then propellerheads figure. But i was shocked by the amount of sound capability your given here, and its mostly touch screen so your not limited at all. If you have any creative ability you'll be fine!!! And i never leave reviews.

Bebot refined, with some misses.. I agree with the other reviewer in the comparisons to bebot. The configurability is great, but the sound is less inviting. Especially in the higher ranges, personally I find the sounds a little cold and digital. This app could really benefit from asdr filters to warm up those waveforms. I could tell it could sound great with that simple addition. I think for those looking for synthesis as a feature instrument it probably sounds great as is. But for those looking for synthesis as an unobtrusive part of a track it misses. Edit: found a few bugs. You can't hide the preset name without also hiding the preset arrows, which I guess makes sense. Also, I can get the output to clip (iPhone 4g) on some of the presets. Usually toward the top of the screen with multiple voices. Bebot suffers from this even worse actually.

I'm dumbfounded by how awesome this is. It works just fine on my iPhone 4, the downside of using it on an iPhone is you're not going to be able to do quite so much with it as you can on an iPad, but, good god... I've been a musician since 8, starting on clarinet, moving to guitar at 14, and I remember begging my father for an early Moog synth... this is that, this is more, this is something completly new in many ways. I can even see using this at a jam session...

Wicked.... This is my first review for any app on iPad, but as an long time Dream Theater fan as well as all Jordan's side projects I was moved to put my thoughts down. This is an amazing App. Does exactly was it sets out to do. As a musician for many years, I read many of the reviews that touted it as a real instrument and dismissed them thinking ti wasn't possible. This is the real deal folks, thar standard patches are beautiful, not to mention that You can tweak and make your own, which I haven't even begun ti do. Do not hesitate to buy this app, you will not regret it whatsoever.

Even just for noise, it's a hoot!. I can play this--a bit. Noise: I can do that with no problem. The trick is to make musical noise--that I can do pretty well. This is one monster of a sound maker! I would like a few, minor changes though: 1) Allow a person a way to access patches directly instead of going through one after another until the right one is hit; 2) Hey, how come there's no slider on the IPhone but one on the IPad--real estate issues? ;3) I am afraid of tweaking the presets cause I like them and want to be able to get back to them if I want. Now, if I have misunderstood anything, I apologize. Even with these desires unfulfilled this baby is still a MONSTER!

Please update. I love this app for performance, but you should consider updating the app. I got a message that said the app may slow down my iPad when the app is in use and the last time you updated the app was in 2014 for iOS 8 and we are now on iOS 11.0.1 and would hate to have the app become incompatible with the new iOS.

Fun for ALL Ages. Finally, a music app that both I and my 1 year old daughter can use and love equally! That is in no way saying that Morphwiz is not a serious music making and improvising app, but that it is so well designed that even a toddler can use it without tripping over the UI. There are lots of other music apps in the store but Morphwiz has the biggest selection of scales and patches. Also the UI, while maybe not the most polished example I've seen, is very intelligently laid out. Modes like preference settings and patch selection are designed in a way that keeps the user (or my 1 year old daughter) from accidentally invoking them while playing. 5 star rating!

Please update. I love this app. Great sounds and graphics. But no update in 3 years! Please update this app for iOS 11 with some new features

Crazy cool and incredibly useful live. A must have app from the genius of Jordan Rudess. Definitely 5 stars.

Just really, really great.. This app is pretty amazing. It uses the iPad extremely well - especially for synth soloing and swelling pads! The most incredible part is the vibrato sensitivity that it maintains while still allowing you to slide between notes! That must have been difficult to develop. Then not only that but you can slide up and down to change the waveform of your sound from square wave to sine wave or anything that you set. The preset sound bank is enormous and runs the gamut of synth sounds, but then each sound is very customizable so that the sonic possibilities are pretty much infinite. This is a serious app, I plan on using it on some of my recordings in the future. I recommend buying it and not just relying on the presets, but also looking through all the menus to change parameters, however you'd also be happy just using the presets. This could easily cost a lot more!

Great IPhone app for kids and parents. If you want to play a blues that never misses... try this app on "G Man Blues!" You can have three and four-fingered chords, a wild lead guitar, walk down a bass line... and learn the principle of bunching and spreading chord inversions across as many octaves as you want. The visual animation displays are just entertaining enough to give kids a sense of power - like flying Dr Who's Tardus! But Jordan gives enough different keys and modes - with color codes and note identification- to make this a teaching tool for kids.

Continuum and synthesizer in the one app!. This app is one of the greatest iPhone music apps made, flowing with ingenious ideas you can spend all day playing it. It's a great conventional continuum to take where ever you go

Really cool. This app is amazing, it's easy to use yet has a lot of depth. The visual experience is probably as good as the audio experience, it just all adds to a great package. Worth the money for sure

Bit of a let down really - not worth the price tag. Great interface...but some of the cheesiest preset sounds available. Replace the presets with sounds that don't sound like they're out of a kids cartoon and this would be good. As it stands, it's just frustrating that the sounds are terrible - a good app ruined.

Love this wizz!!. I've been playing with the morph wiz for a few years now, and I'm blown away by it. I'm a beginner at music production yet I'm drawn back to this synth for its simplicity in use and complexity in sound! 5stars!

an absolute MUST-HAVE music app. Dream Theater Fans UNITE! This app is truly a brilliant piece of technology that put amazing sounds and the ability to make music into anybody's hands. There are dozens of synthesised "instruments" to choose from and a myriad of options. It's worth every cent and really showcases what the iPad can do. As someone who is musically-inclined but not a real musician as such, I can highly recommend this if you want to make some very cool music. Buy it and you won't regret it.

One of the best apps for the iPad. Outstanding app. An amazing amount of work has gone into this app, as well as the thoughts of one of the best keyboardists on the planet. Wonderful attention to detail, such as the pitch correction between notes that still allows for a full vibrato. Full customabiility of the synth instruments, the key, the scales, the amount of notes on the screen. Just a brilliant creative tool. But don't start playing with Morphwiz around midnight...you won't get much sleep. I'm speaking from experience.

Ultimate app!!!. 5 stars for an app made for musicians. True genius and it has to be coming from Jordan! Can modify scales/modes to fit on screen. Gonna get an iPad now :) Has slightest of slight latency on iPhone 4 Thanks Jordan! You da man.

Amazing - The MUST have music app. I was hesitant to buy this app, mainly due to the price tag, but i tell you what, it whould be worth double or triple the price from the obvious amount of work that has gone into this app. there are tons of presets, scale options, customisation option etc etc etc. and if you step back from all of that, it simply looks and sounds awesome. i would use this live on stage its that good. you can really tell that this was made by a top notch musician. check out Dream Theater as well, Jordan Rudess who made this app is their keyboardest and just by listening to his playing you may get an idea of what sort of person has made this app. BUY IT NOW!!!

Great but needs fixing. Bought this app just because I am a big fan of Jordan. Love this app but keeps crashing. needs a fix badly.

Must get this!! Works now on iPhone 3Gs. I saw this used live when DT was in Aust last year now finally found it and not disappointed. It is great and massive, still trying to get used to it but the hours do disappear once you start. Go ahead, it's cheap at twice the price

Well I want to say I love it, but.... Crashes on iOS4 on my iPhone 3G. I hope we see a fix for this as it looked impressive in the promotion videos.

Great App. A great app for anyone, from serious musicians to kids. My kids love messing around with all the different sounds. Incredible functionality and options to play with. Plus it sounds amazing!

Amazing. Simply put, this app is a must have. A musicians wet dream and just good fun for everyone else.

Mental!. This app is phenomenal. I make beats and have a fairly good range of gear already but what I love about this app is the way it is played. Sliding that finger around can give u some pretty awesome effects and you can crank out base lines that would make dilla proud! Every preset has great customization settings. Running it through preamps on yamaha n12 with a bit of eq and it sounds dope. Nice work.

Magnificent!. You start fiddling with this and find an hour has gone by. (I think that's a good thing!)

I would have paid 100 bucks for this app!. This app is absolutely amazing. It is also unbelievable that they are charging so little for what is essentially a full force synthesizer. I don't write reviews, but this is absolutely the best app on my ipad.

Really Nice!. With a little noise reducter, really nice for my music studio!!! Cheaper price, big possibility!!! Batcha can'y play with this !XD

Pretty spectacular .... Absolutely incredible app. From the brain of one of the best musicians of our time comes an amazingly well thought out, super feature rich applications every musician - from tinkerer to touring professional should own. I've never seen anything quite like this ... It is probably the best $10 bucks you'll ever spend. Highly, highly recommend it.

WOW !!! Awesome !!!. It's just an awesome app !!! It's my favorite app for music. You can do anything you want. If you want to ''shred'' you can, if you want to make an awesome melodie you can. It's just magic !!! Awesome !!!

Beware. Unlike the versions I've seen on Youtube, my iPad version has no recording function incorporated into the program. My questions to tech support (more than one), so far, have been ignored. Therefore, you may want to keep my experience in mind before for you spend your money.

Latency. This app is indeed very powerful, but the latency is poor, needs improvement. At this point it would be difficult to use it as a real instrument because of latency.

Incredible for $10. This app has a ridiculous amount of presets and infinite sound capabilities. I don't really play keys but this app is a blast to jam with!

Amazing. This is an awesome synth - it takes the best of several other music apps and rolls them all into one incredible jamming beast- I highly recommend this !

You should apologize. You should apologize dev and offer a refund. Your app is broken and it doesn't offer any way to record or sequence as you had been promoting around the net. Is not neither working with audiobus!!!..give me my money back, I feel robbed!!!

Meh.... It's ok. I guess having animoog and the other synths makes it average. It's really just variations on a theme. It's a space synth. An outer spacey space synth. Dunno if i would pay 10 bucks for it when there's so many options.

An absolute steal for only $10. I've had zero problems with latency, I'm using an iPhone 4 so that might be why. The different sounds you can make are endless and it's so much fun to just mess around with. I even used it in a song I'm recording and it's fantastic. Anyone who likes to jam or anyone who wants to make serious electronic music should get this app. Jordan Rudess is a genius!

MorphWiz is everything you could ask for in a synth.... I'll keep this short because I tend to get long-winded: This app is AMAZING. It's by far the most powerful synth app I've used. Jordan Rudess... I mean C'mon - the dude is a freaking synth wizard and the fact that he basically called the shots on this one guarantees it is going to perform. About the app: It has a looping ability so you can play a bass sound, and then play a synthy sound, and make some really interesting loops and sounds. It has a metronome (A must-have for any serious recordings, ensuring you're on time) I love the pitch lock and the subtle nuances that have been added like vibrato... awesome. The sounds themselves are all very usable sounds, the strings that guide you on where the notes are make sense, though they're not always on every screen. I like that you get to actually make your own sounds as well based on existing waveforms and can really tweak the sounds in a simple manner. The only thing I'm looking for, and it could be there but I just haven't found it yet, is a "patch explorer". I don't like when I'm making a loop, that I have to scroll through what seems to be hundreds of sounds to find one that I remember playing earlier. That's the ONLY downside I see with this app... And it's probably in there, I just haven't found it yet. Otherwise, I'm really looking forward to updates with this app, if Jordan comes out with new sounds or minor feature updates. Great application overall, and very much worth the 9.99 I paid for it.

Great fun, serious instrument too.... I love just about everything about this app. It has a unique sound and look, and the expressiveness is stellar. The one area that could stand improvement is the latency. Even at the lowest buffer setting it doesn't feel as snappy as Samplewiz on my iPad 2. C'mon guys, how about an update? edit: also sadly a wee bit crash prone on my iPad 2 wifi when recording and undoing / redoing.

game change. I'm a controller junkie and this is by far the most fun and the coolest one I've ever bought ! AND.... it costs under 10 bucks !!!

How do I rate this 6 stars?. Awesome app - I am discovering new ways to use it every time I play it and my wife who is probably one of the least musical people I know, was making cool music with it at the camp fire last night!

Morphwiz. Best Dream Theater App Ever, if you have ever wanted to play awesome Dream Theater Songs on your iPhone or iPad as an Instrument this is the app for you... I play along to Pull Me Under All the Time!!! =D

Incredible!. This program is packed with features and the Video tutorials are so helpful!

Fu$&ing amazing. This app is the best that you can have on the iphones a million times awesome

Even better than I expected!!. What can I say?! This app is amazing! I've tried countless free/paid apps in terms of pianos, synths, etc and this blows them all away! This, alongside apps like bebot, have made the music I create FAR more interesting!! I can't even fathom how I worked without it! You've done it again, JR! -Canadian Wizard/Metal DAve

Simply amazing. This app is unbelievable. I'm amazed. It's definitely worth an iPad.

Stunning and inspiring!. The absolute best of its kind. I wouldn't expect anything less from the master Jordan Rudess. Whether you are a pro or a novice, this app has so much depth that it will keep you inspired for hours on end. A must have and a joy to play.

Updates?. W T H lets get some updates!!!

Fixed!!!. It is true, this most recent update has restored the old sounds you made before the earlier update (as it said in the update details), so, once again, you guys have made it back up to 5 stars from me. Now the app has your old sounds, and an improved interface. Keep up the greatness, Wizdom!

NEEDS QUICK SWITCHING!. Anytime time you try to quick switcch to this app by double tapping the home button, it reverses the screen, so when you touch the left, it acts like you're playing the right. Great app though :D

Instrument of the future. MorphWiz is a musician's dream. The guys who created this app are visionaries who not only recognize the power of Apple's multi-touch technology, but also have an understanding of what artists need to be creative with the technology. No doubt, this app is fun, but it's also a cutting-edge, genuine musical/visual instrument. Thank you for creating this!

expression. My favorite aspect of this app, apart from all of the fabulous synthesizer tools, and in particular the different scales, are its expression capabilities...*dynamics* *vibrato*... making a music app truly human and expressive is the holy grail of computer music... this app has nailed it. Even after three hours I am still discovering possibilities... great job!

Pure genius!. I read the reviews and was still surprised how good this app is. This turns the iPad into a new kind of instrument, one that is a blast to play. Well worth the money.

It's awesome, but.... I love this thing, it's so fun to see what kind of sounds you can get. However, it crashes at the worst times. I was jamming with it w some people and it just crashed and it was embarrassing. Please fix this so it can be a reliable instrument, thanks for all the hard work though!

Amazing. If you have any interest in making unique sounding synth music, this app is highly recommended. At $9.99 it is a steal. The number of presets and settings to play with is amazing. This app shows something only the iPad could do, and may be one of the best apps on the whole app store.

Very useful. Nice app. Works well. Very useful for some production work. Comparable to Seline and Thumbjam as an actual musical instrument. Most of the built in sounds are very "spacey" and synth like. Great if you're George Jetson:) Would like to see a broader library of more musical sounds. Overall, nice well thought app and a great musical instrument with lots of potential.

Outstanding!!!. As a Dream Theater fan and a musician, this app is a goldmine of wonderful tones that are true to Jordan's very unique sound. And once you have tinkered around with the presets you have a ton of options for creating your own original tones without it being overly complex...as opposed to the Korg iMS-20, which is fun and sounds great, but is extremely difficult to make useable tones with. Get it, you won't be disappointed!!!

Morphwiz. This app is awesome!!!!! I am not a musician by any means but this app is so easy to use that it does not matter. I would recommend this to anybody, muso or not. Even better on ipad but good for iphone as well.

Very expressive. Instead of being a virtual representation of an existing instrument, it's a whole new instrument in its own right. It feels a little cramped on the iPad Mini if you set the range at 2 or more octaves. I would also suggest that you turn multitasking gestures off while using this app.

Needs Midi Out Capability. MorphWiz is a blast to use! There's really only one thing it's lacking: Midi Out capability. To turn MorphWiz into a Haken Continuum for the iPad, Midi Out is essential. An implementation similar to what is used on Pianist Pro would be ideal. Can you imagine being able to jam on a Moog Voyager via the MorphWiz interface? That would be truly sublime!

Best app I've ever bought. Easily the best 10 bucks I've ever spent! this app is an amazing source of ideas for a musician like myself. I can't find one thing wrong with it. LONG LIVE THE WIZARD

The one instrument I keep coming back to. I've had this program for years. I have many instruments on my iPad, but this is the one app I invariably get drawn back to. I love it, and my kids do too.

Wow. Perfection right out of the gate. A true expression of the ipad's capabilities, and a legitimate instrument. What I love, though, is the inclusion of AudioCopy/Paste. I can send my loops from MorphWiz to something like Multitrack DAW and just layer myself in musical mayhem.

Most playable. Very fun to play and expressive. Makes the device feel like a natural feeling, playable instrument. Would be great with more variety of sounds. Mostly good for solos and riffs. Some of the sounds are not very useful in my opinion. I'd like to see them add some more diverse sounds or add midi function. Loses points for primitive recording feature.

Wow!. I am a rudimentary piano player, with a rudimentary understanding of synth technique. I am also a music app junkie. Of all the synth or synth-type apps I own, MorphWiz is by far the best. Even without watching the very informative video series, I got an almost immediate grasp of the controls; the videos expanded on that enough so that I could get really creative! The sound quality is good, and the ability to mail compositions a great help. Lost that 5th star because I can't find a way to edit my compositions on my PC (e.g., layer tracks). Overall, one of the best of the many apps I own! Highly recommend.

Unbelievable. This app has got to be one of the best music apps available, and well worth the asking price. Rick Wakeman, where are you? :-) I'm hoping additional sounds will become available, how about a Sax sound?

Great update!. Morphwiz was the main reason I bought an iPad to begin with several years ago. The update has been a long time coming and is so nice to work with AudioBus. Plus the previous latency issues seem to be barely noticeable now. The whole thing is much more musical. Awesome work, guys. Mr. Rudess and crew have once again brought wonderful inspiration to music making.

Wonderful!. Just downloaded this app. I'm blown away. Best app I've come across so far! The synth sounds are beautiful and the scales for each sound are really well thought out. Can't wait to start delving deeper. A non musician could have a lot of fun with this, but as a musician I'm going to definitely find uses for the app in my studio

Absolutely Amazing!. Morphwiz is absolutely amazing! Jordan Rudess is a genius and this app is reason enough to buy an iPad. There is so much work that was put into developing this app and it is great fun for everyone, not just serious musicians.

SWEET!. Killer app for making some awesome music! A must have for all musicians. Bebot was great, but MorphWiz takes it to a whole new level! If you want to make music in a new and creative way, then this app is for you.

Good stuff. Audiobus Upadate: I like the redesign, still works well, still a blast to play. This app is crazy. Unique would be an understatement. It's similar to Bebot, but a bit more advanced, and crazy. Some of the presets are pretty much unusable. I think more to just show off what Morph is capable of. But, hey, that's why the ability to adjust the affects is there!

Great app, just remember to adjust the settings. I really dig this app but I got pretty frustrated at first with the latency (measured at 130msec) between touch and note start. Their FAQ reminds you to adjust the audio buffer size in 'Settings' and now it's manageable :)

This is what great apps should be....... Creative and innovative. Worth every penny! Some apps are fun, some can be creative, but then lose their zeal....not this one....Perfect for all ages. It opens the doors of creativity and imagination. Thanks for sharing the gift of music and art.

Awesome. This app is totally awesome. Worth every cent of it. It's nice if you're trying to improvise, or focus in writing music. The unexperienced players will have a good time with the 80+ presets, and the more experienced ones can create their own. Maybe the best music app in the App Store.

Cool concept. This app is great for people branching out into ios music making. I have found that the latency still lags after I lowered it in the settings menu. Also, Audiobus is the wave of the future. I love all of the Jordan Rudess apps, but until they get set free with support for Audiobus, I'll just stick with SampleWiz and rate MorphWiz with 3 out of 5 stars.

Only crashes for me. I have yet to make a single note on it because it crashes my iPhone every time at start. I have a 3G with OS 4.0. I have tried restarting the iPhone. I have tried deleting the Morphwiz app and re-downloading it. Please check your crash logs and fix this asap!! Also, the cartoon graphic is flat-out lame compared to Bebot. I'm just sayin'. Please fix the crash and I'll happily give more stars. --Greg

One Mean Music Machine!. I am not a trained musician ... Just one that likes to put around with synths and keyboards. I have a few App store instruments and synths; but MorphWiz is one of the best, well thought out applications thatI have seen. It's ease of use and simplicity fit the need of amateurs like me and others. Simply put, it's an awesome, AWESOME 10 buck app ... Money well spent.

Retraction. Ok, it took a few weeks, but they fixed... No, IMPROVED the already greatest app on the planet. I had some words about the update for us "old iPad" users, but they did it justice. Thanks guys! Back to gigs and rockin' with my Morphwiz!

Incredible. Morph Wiz is an incredible stand-alone interment with great feel and sound. I'd love to see it evolve further to support OSC and, even better, Line 6 Midi Mobility. What a great studio controller this highly configurable gizmo could be...like a portable and easily configured handheld Continuum...

Fantastic. This app is awesome! It has helped me with learning different scales and just having rocking fun. Opened many doors of inspiration. Recommend for ALL ages and musicians and non-musician alike. A++

well.... I've been watching videos for this app and it's blown my mind. However, as of last night when the app dropped it was still advertised for iPhone and iPod touch as well. Now, only hours later, it's an iPad-exclusive app. Unfortunately I bought the app thinking it was for iPhone and realized I can't use it.

Excellence !!. First off both BeBot and morphwiz output more gain and a cleaner Signal than any of my other apps More importantly : this app represents the pinnacle of design and performance for this new way of playing. Playing this through my Bose PA system is incredible. The only thing I'm missing is being able to shake the iPad for vibrato ( like I do with ThumbJam). An obvious amount of care time and talent went into this app And I rate it the best instrument for performance on the iPad. I'm getting more applause for my iPad solos than my guitar solos! Should I be concerned?

OMG! This App ROCKS!. Literally, it's a whole lotta awesomeness goin' on here. With all the obvious love and care that went into development of this app, they're giving it away at this price. This is the FIRST iPad musical interment app, that really qualifies as a playable, viable electronic instrument on the iPad. Other music app developers should take note of JR's design perspective (professional musician) and start building more apps of this caliber. Thanks JR for a truly useful musical app that takes the iPad out of the "toy" category, into that of a "quality musical instrument" worthy of respect from the masses! OUTSTANDING!

No longer compatible with my main apps. I was using this app quite a bit with other music apps and everything worked well... Not any more. I use to be able to get a drone going in Mixtikl and then boot up Morphwiz for some melodies, but now MorphWiz just silences Mixtikl... can't use them both together on the same device. While my other music apps seem to be well supported with frequent updates, MorphWiz seems to have been abandoned... last update being Aug 2010. I hope this isn't the case because I would like to use it again someday. Maybe with better integration with other apps, Audiobus support and maybe some new sounds.

Way cool. This app is totally cool. After a few minutes I was creating whole ideas with just my fingers. The user friendly interface is simple to get around on and looks awesome as well. The presets sound amazing. If you are into creating new music, then this is the app for you.

Fantastic!. I've been playing with app since its release & it's nothing short of fantastic. MorphWiz shows off Jordan's creativity & passion for music & technology along with the power of the iPad. If you like to be creative musically this is the app for you!

Best musical app!!!!!!. Hands down the best musical app @ this price. Jordan Rudess has once again taken music to a whole other dimension and now put it into an app of endless wonder! A must have app for every musical human being!!!!!

Outstanding. This is what an electronic instrument should be. Intuitive, fun and just plain great to work with. Adjustable, customizable, stacked with presets that make noodling a joy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for anyone that wants to get their Pink Floyd freak on and prog rock all over the place.

Awesome.... Am I a musician? Yes. Professional? No. Is this a blast? Oh, yes! I can't put it down and I don't even know what I'm doing. I can't wait until I understand how to use it...

Wow!!!!!!. This is by far the best synth app on the market. Every imaginable configuration is available here. This was designed to be an actual instrument and not a toy like most other music apps in the app store. For those of you who know what the Continuum is, this is a similar concept, but virtual.

Awesome Instrument. There are a small number of professionally useful instruments on the store, and this is one of them. It's really well suited to soloing, and has excellent sound quality. It's one of the few instruments that actually gets played in front of real (large!) crowds by its owner, which is the most important reality-test any instrument can pass.

Amazing. I think it's amazing. very fun and addicting and very useful for mixing with songs your creating. Jordan you should make more DT song scales also! and the octavarium sound would be awesome to have also. but the app is worth the money! I consider this app for any musician!

Phenominal. This is a great application! I'm running it on an iPhone 4. Morphwiz is definitely not a toy - this is actually a very serious lead performance synthesizer, with an incredible sonic palette and expressive control. Well worth the price. I'm probably going to have to buy an iPad just to have the larger screen to play this instrument.

Awesome!. This app costs $9.99. It is worth much more. The 50 presets are amazing, and the controls are very flexible. Many music apps require you to dig into a menu to tweak the sound and settings. This app lets you morph on the fly, and the effects are activated in real time. I've always enjoyed bebot and thumb jam, but the continuum isn't exactly the most affordable instrument for a novice musician. This app lets me be a prog rocker on a garage band budget. I look forward to more apps by Jordan in the future.

$10 well spent. With plenty of practice, I will be on my way to becoming the next wizard. Have a good look because you'll never find a better keyboard player than Jordan Rudess in your life!

Its deep..but kind of a novelty IMO. Very advanced, utilizes touch very well. But the sound is just..not useful to me. I only see myself using this for FX and really not much else. Sadly dissapointed. Maybe i need to tinker with the sound more but it just seems very unflexible. Atmosphere, FX and odd leads MaYBe...but if you produce Hip Hop, skip this one. However if youre looking for some fun. Go ahead and pick this is up. Very well created, but its lacking to me.

Performance. I have a first gen iPod touch and it simply can't run this app well. Notes do not sound when expected and might have a long hold after releasing from the screen even after turning off attack decay delay and visual effects. It's an amazing app, but it was made with the ipad in mind. It's playable on first gen but only barely. Hope they can tweak it a bit.

Holy Buckets!. This is one sharp app! With Jordan R's name on it, I expected it to be good. With Keith Emerson giving it 2 thumb up, I was impressed. But you can't really see how great it is until you have it in your hands. I love it. Hands down the best music app I've downloaded!!!
