AUM - Audio Mixer Comments & Reviews 2026
Best. Im using this on small live performance, and i must say its fest light and reliable. But one thing i wish it shuld be, to be able to route evry Channel to evry out how much i wont so i can use it for monitors etc (maybe to get matrix out ). also the solo mode i should be able to hear evry track on solo without changing the main mix thanks
Like water to fish. Like air to birds.. AUM is essential. Why are you still reading this? AUM IS iOS music. If you’re making music on iOS, AUM is core to your creative workflow. Sure, record to a DAW later to master it, but AUM can do that too. DAWs are for perspiration; AUM is for INSPIRATION. AUM is like alienware: a paradigm shift that was almost perfectly designed at inception. Flexible, freeing, fast, fun, and stable as a rock. A big rock. Why are you still reading? AUM should cost 10 times more. Do you like air? What would you pay for air? Get your music unstuck out of the DAW mindset. This app changes everything. Set your music free.
Best App for Live Playing, but please add a few features... I love this app for live playing. It is the best to just get the ideas to flow. It’s so easy and simple to use.. But please add these features: 1. Being able to save all the plugins on a specific channel, so that you can for example, load up a guitar rig channel and maybe a bus channel for reverb. 2. Being able to freeze the channels that are loaded with heavy plugins. 3. Being able to set how many bars that you want to record, because if you don’t press stop right on the dot, if you loop a recording, it will gradually get off beat. 4. Being able to use GarageBand as an inter app plugin because they have the best acoustic drum sounds. That’s all I can think of so far. Please consider adding these features.
The best and really easiest app for live use with an iPad. AUM is a must have app if you want to use an iPad live. The ease of use. MIDI implementation, and ability to layer and structure channels, stack keyboards, and sync tempos is phenomenal. It’s taken my bands live show to another level. About as flexible and easy to learn as one could want. Just fantastic.
Help!!. I love this app to use with my iPad but now it stopped working and says the audio engine isn’t on. I’ve uninstalled it and reinstalled and still have the same problem. Is this an iPad issue? GB and Cubasis 3 and the other apps are working fine. Any suggestions? Also, I wanted to contact you on the website but it says it’s not secure???
Easily The Best, Easily 5 Starts. Wrote this review a few years ago, and in 2021 it’s the same sentiments, ESPECIALLY THE MIDI CLOCK IN. I guess the ability to restore last deleted channel is a step closer to UNDO button. “Been using this for years, and it’s a well-thought-out app. Tiny footprint for the large chest of features. UX is brilliant, especially with the new midi channels. However... I'd really love to see an UNDO button. Also, please allow midi clock in. Other than that, keep up the great work.”
Awesome. I spent , rather I wasted, a month and a half fighting with another companies Audio/MIDI mixer finally gave up on that and purchased the AUM I was up and running in five minutes and the functionality is incredible, it has not sucked up any CPU or crashed because it’s using too much CPU unlike some other audio midi bus which would peak at 350% (!!!) CPU randomly I deleted the other companies product from my iPad
Crashing with no support. I purchased this app based on the crowd I run with. There are alternatives and have purchased these as well. *But* AUM crashes constantly. Utterly useless. After getting one email from the developer asking me “what do you mean ‘crashing’”, I’ve never received any email to my response. There is really no point to this app. I’ve seen some impressive uses but there is no way I could duplicate what other users are doing. I have purchased every iPad Pro 12.9 with maximum RAM and Storage. So something is definitely amiss. Look elsewhere.
Indispensable. This app takes a lot of reading the manual, research, and experimentation, but it is powerful to the highest degree. I use it in conjunction with Xequence, and I’m able to control playback and recording of almost any aspect of production. Used in conjunction with Audiobus3 and Auria Pro, it provides a solid basis for post-production work. I can’t imagine anyone who is serious about using iOS for making music NOT having this app!
Re: the “Change the name to wormwood” guys review. AUM isn’t really that complicated. Is there a learning curve? You bet. I don’t understand how anyone that spends 15 minutes learning this fantastic app doesn’t see all the benefits. What are you even doing. Anyways, it’s an incredible app, I’d even go so far as to say it’s essential if you want to do more that simply play synth apps one at a time w you usb keyboard. So good! Thanks, K!
Every iPad musician needs to know. If you’re playing live, you’re doing it the hard way if you aren’t playing out of AUM. This is iPad’s killer app for musicians, imo. It pulls together all your music-making apps, and you can custom-control everything. To say it upped my game is a massive understatement, and I can get done on ONE keyboard what used to take hauling around several boards in a massive rig. Each of our songs has its own pre-configured scheme and it takes 3-5 seconds to switch between them. AUM enabled me to go ALL-IN on iPad music.
The Best There Is. You can try others, but this is where you want to be if you are running any type of mobile rig. I found my happiness with this app, my instrument apps, an Novation Audiohub 2x4, a korg nanoKontrol2, and any keystation you’d like. I map different apps to different faders, and any parameter i want to. What makes this app so powerful is the fact that I can map any control value or anything via usb midi. And it just works. So good. Thank you for an amazing app! Keep up the great work! Only thing I wish was different was that I could have landscape and be able to zoom out to get some visible reference to when I control values on my interface. But it works great the way I have it too. 🤘🏼👍🏼
next level!. I usually don't write reviews but I had to make an exception with this one! simply put: connect anything to anything, audio or midi, brilliant graphics and ui, it's been a long time since an app made me this happy, I run it on a old iphone 4s with tonebridge and a bunch effects, 3 channels, guitar and bass and aux with recording on a NI Komplete Audio 6 card and runs like a charm with cpu to spare, guitar rig and effects on the budget better than hardware.... on my iPad air (first gen btw) I mix and record a whole live band, guitar, bass, mic, 3 synth apps, effects just with AUM, everything in 24bit 48k, crazy how far technology has come and creative programing can take it! thank you! mind blown!
Amazing Audio routing and mixing app.. I wrote a longer review twice but my iPad kept closing the window and erasing it. So I’m gonna be brief. Buy this app if you are even considering it, amazing workflow capabilities and awesome dev who obviously cares about improving their software! 20 bucks is nothing for this level of functionality.
My main music making app. Despite having an obscene amount of all sorts of music production apps ranging from countless synths, all major iOS DAWs and down to obscure effects and arpeggiators, there is no app in my amateur wannabe music producer’s arsenal that enjoys the same level of use and love as AUM. Ironically, i wouldn’t even get it if it wasn’t for all the raving it gets on forums and in music oriented social media groups. Now, i can’t even imagine any music making effort i attempt on my iPad without AUM being its cornerstone. Had it for almost two years now.
New update is a game changer. Amazing work!. Now you can swipe right on any plugin or synth and see individual CPU usage and how many ms it adds to your signal. Helping you decide which ones are worth keeping in your signal chain and workflow. Thank you for the hard work!
Always the best. I own pretty much every audio production app/synth/effect/midi/blah blah, but AUM is what brings everything together for me, including my analog synths, guitar, and drum machines. Audiobus is great but no recording, and Cubase is great but no midi control... AUM does everything that other apps cant do or do poorly, and all in one. This would be the last app I delete. I use this for both recording external instruments, and iOS synths, and I can’t see anything that my pc does better as far as the recording process. Simple, ergonomic, the GUI just makes sense. You need this. And to the guy complaining about the size of the solo buttons, have you heard of a midi controller?.... heh
Please, iPhone Landscape mode please 😭. AUM is a beast, there is no need to be specific the ratings speak for themselves - it’s either this baby, ApeMatrix or Loopy (at least for me), all other “DAWs” (not that these are “DAWs”), simply cannot compete. Regardless, AUM has had this “flaw” for years now, I’ve been asking for an iPhone landscape mode and I simply cannot imagine I’m the only one - AUM on iPhone is kind of a pain to handle (constantly needing to rotate the device is honestly an experience killer). Please consider adding landscape mode for once and for all - it would be greatly appreciated. As for everything else - AUM is TOP DAWG for real. Enjoy it - trust me - you will!
Must Have for Live Performance. AUM isn’t a traditional ‘old skewl’ DAW….. it’s a futuristic workhorse that let’s you create sounds; both for live and recorded purposes. It hosts a myriad of AUv3 plugins that let you sound-sculp live and generated sounds of all kinds. I use it in live performances with my violin. I have different “patches” and can MIDI control AUM to switch between them as needed.
Really nice to use and as deep as you need. I usually do write reviews and AUM, to me is the shi-i-it! It blows my mind to use it and everything just works as smooth and glossy as high-end feels. It was hard at first to wrap my mind around the best use but I throw samples and loops at it effecting them with au and other plug ins and set up synths and drums triggered by midi. AUM acts as a digital console and on a 2017 iPad 128 I have not been able to max it out as far as tracks and massive sound are concerned. It truly is ausome and worth every penny.
This is the best workflow on any device.. I’ve been using this with AudioShare for years now and I really want to be able to use it on my brand new Mac. What’s it gonna take for you to make a version that is available and signed on the Macstore for macOS? I use logic and I believe this would be a very big compliment with logic. If we all pitched in a dollar we could get this thing rolling. It reminds me of the board that I trained on when I was younger. I trained on a very expensive pro tools board that was analog and digital, and the size of a cathedral hall. this makes everything so much easier. Please make this available for macOS for those of us that have the newer Mac’s. If you’re reading this, thanks for reading and I hope this inspires you because you are one talented developer. I hope that you’re able to port this over soon. This would complement logic very well. I don’t normally do reviews. AudioShare should also be ported over as it is indispensable in my workflow, I was trained to always cut and fade as they say in ProTools, but this made it so much easier with AudioShare and AUM. thank you for making music fun again.
You need this. I’ve had AUM for about 2 years now, I use it every day just about. Always can find an answer to what I need to do, best app for quick jams or coming up with concepts on the fly using all of your auv3 apps. The multiout works fantastic, never an issue. This is. A must have for any serious iPad music producer. Get it today.
Still Unmatched. For nearly a decade I’ve been doing sound design and composing music using my iOS devices. While at first a lot of that was out of curiosity and for my own amusement, its become a viable professional platform in the last few years. One app has been a constant through almost all of that time, AUM. I can’t even imagine what doing sound work on iOS would be like without this app having been made. The developer has also done a phenomenal job of staying close to the community, listening to feedback and continually improving the app over the years. It has only gotten better and more incredible. Now there is Logic for the iPad but they aren’t the same thing and aren’t mutually exclusive in any way. I really kind of wish there was AUM available for macOS so I could just work in the same way. Regardless, its absolutely essential imo and worth every single penny. A big thank you to the dev. I see you man, big ups for all your work.
Stands in a class of its own. I rarely write reviews. I detest being nagged for a review in apps. I also buy and try many apps, not many stick around for a long time. not the case with AUM. I’m primarily a live guitarist, and this app has been the heart of my rig for almost a year now. it’s amazing what it can do, and with plugins on the iOS platform, the only limit is my imagination. I have an 11” 2020 iPad Pro, and I have never gotten the CPU meter consistently above 45% - ever. and I have come up with some pretty crazy setups, running two discrete guitar signals live. the MIDI flexibility is amazing as well. coupled with Ableton Live running on another computer on the network, my entire show is automated. it’s amazing - and it’s all because of AUM. there’s simply nothing else like this on the app store. if you’re a mobile minded musician, stop wondering already and get this.
Great app but not so practical....yet.. This app would be so cool if you set it up as a live performing app. Every live keyboard player knows that you do not have time to turn down the volume knob on one patch and then turn up another patch. Last time I did that was with my arp quadra in 1979. Since the early 80’s we’ve simply pushed a button which gives us the next sound. So if I have to play horns for 2 measures, strings for 2 measures and organ for two measures I simple push ( for example) button 4, 1 and then 3(or however the patches are set up) When you are performing live you have no time to think about pulling levers down and up, you just want to push the next button, preferably larger than the itty bitty solo button on your App. I understand that AUM is set up as a mixer, I get it. And It is a brilliant app. I love what it does. But AUM could do for the iPad what main stage has done with the computer. Make it usable on the gig.
The one essential music app. What is AUM? At first it looks like it’s merely a mixer. But it’s simplicity belies it’s immense power. That’s good app design. But as you explore the app you realize it’s so much more than just a mixer. It’s the glue that binds all of your audio apps. Keeping them all on time and in sync. It works with your midi hardware, your midi software and best of all these amazing AUV3 apps which include special effects and virtual synthesizers and drum apps and really everything. If theses apps are well designed AUM let’s you easily route things to them, like midi messages and LFOs and sequencers. It’s quite literally the Rosetta Stone of audio apps. To say it’s indispensable would be an understatement. Best part the developer is super active in his community and fixing bugs. This app is in active development. This is a no brainer purchase, worth every penny. If you wondered how to make mobile music or take your music to the next level, look no further. This is it!!!
Finally Found My Favorite iOS Workflow. I’ve been doing iOS music for many years. People always raved about AUM, and used it in videos. I held off for awhile using other DAWs/Hosts that were great for me at that time, but never quite perfect. As I learned more, and the development of apps progressed, I began to see the value of AUM and finally purchased it. I hate to use buzzwords, but it was a complete game changer for my workflow, my music production, and my songwriting. The app has stepped up my game and helped me learn so much. It’s just brilliant in so many ways. It lets you pick and choose the pieces you need, in a very open and creative way, instead of feeling like a closed workspace. It’s super stable, great gui, great built in fx & features. There’s also been several amazing updates that continue to make this the best app for music production on the App Store. Not sure where my music would be without 3.5 years of daily AUM usage. I can’t sit here and say it’s for everyone because workflow is a personal choice, based on feeling comfortable, creative, and being able to do the things you want to do. I will say this app can basically do everything. It completely revolutionized my music making, and made so many things “click” for me. I can’t recommend this app enough. My most used app, hands down. 10 Stars!
Disappointed with VoiceOver support. I bought this app after having great experiences with the AUFX series. As a blind Apple user, iOS apps are always a hit or miss situation. Unfortunately, this specific app seems to be a miss for my community. There are lots of unlabeled buttons. Any blind iOS or Mac user knows exactly what I mean. Going through the interface elicits a repeated “button, button, button, button, button…” without any indication of what said buttons do. This is not to say we’re a button-averse bunch. One only needs to do a search of Pro Tools, Logic, or Reaper accessibility on the web to see just how many of us do fine with complex daws. The key here is simple—correct element labels. I gave 2 stars, because I’m sure the software is well-designed for sighties, but this was a $21 no-use case for me, despite this dev’s other solid offerings. I hope to change my review in the future, because this has so much promise for a nice mobile option to complement my less-mobile Mac rigs.
Crackling sounds. Bought the app like a week ago. I have 6 channels in total with some effects added in 1 or 2 channels. There are crackling sounds time and again which causes some lag between the channels’ tracks in the final mix. Please fix it. Or is it only on my iPad mini 5 that is not able to handle the throttle?? I’m running iOS 13.6.1. DSP shows above 50 and goes up to 128 when the crackling happens.
Keeps Getting Better. I really can’t say enough how much I appreciate this app and the developers continued support, personal responses, and ingenuity in implementing new features! It’s become totally integral to my music making and playing and opens up new possibilities all the time. Thank you so much for your work and passion!
Game-changer for live performance. This is incredibly useful for running a live performance keyboard set up from an iPad. I am new to this, and it is working super well. In conjunction with MidiFire and MidiFlow, I am able to achieve everything I need to between programming various MIDI controls and routing and controlling audio. Maybe I could’ve done it all in one program, but I know how to use those other two, and I find each better at certain things. Some apps display a little better than others in here- Korg Module is too zoomed in, and I can’t seem to access the velocity curve setting, although I can modify that from outside MIDI apps.
Amazing, but lacks a couple key features for me…. This is truly my go to app for music, except when it comes to more complex and rehearsed shows. The key feature it lacks is scenes within sessions and a set list feature. For those I use Keystage2. I would much rather use AUM though. AUM just looks so much better and is great live when I have more liberty to improv. Please add scenes and set lists, please please please. Thanks for an amazing app!
Astounding!. This really is an amazing framework for music-making in iOS! It provides incredible power by handling AUv3, IAA, Audiobus, and even sound file; by recognizing the (class compliant) MIDI hardware you’re connected to and all managed in a clean and innovative UI. If I sound like I’m gushing, I am, because this app is the proverbial “game-changer”!!
Losing work, every time. I want to recommend this app, because honestly it’s dope, but every time I load up my preset I made for koala sampler and I start to work on a new project within the preset I made (the preset just being some channels routed to a master from koala) something triggers a crash within koala sampler and it resets my entire project, and some could say “well maybe it’s koala” but when I use koala by itself (not within AUM) this has never happened, if koala sampler crashes it at least saves my work. Not sure what’s causing the crashes, random things seem to trigger the crash but I’m still unsure. I’m using 2021 M1 iPad Pro btw so I don’t think it’s cpu.
This app is awesome.. The mixer is the best I've found and the ability to create Send channels is immensely useful. The only problem I have is that if you try to use iOS11's Screen Capture, it only records the audio from the first app you load. Everything loaded after that outputs silence. Great job on an otherwise excellent product.
Great App, with 1 weakness. Great app, pretty much an essential on both my IPad and using IPad apps with my desktop, it’s an amazing mixer for all my iPad instruments and affects and then some. The only weakness is that it doesn’t receive midi sync, which is pretty sad. For instance Id love to be able to sequence my hardware synth with my MPC and record them into AUM and have AUM wait for a midi sync signal to start recording. I wish the developer knew how amazing that would be , but every app has at least on major flaw. Other than that it’s amazing.
My Essential Performance Platform. I’ve been creating ambient electronic soundscapes for more than 30 years. My tools have evolved from massive modular analog systems to Virtual Analog hardware to, now, iOS. AUM is the tool that has allowed me to seamlessly layer a multitude of sound sources, effects, and complex systems in real time. It offers a surprisingly comprehensive set of audio routing tools, and a vast midi toolkit, all coded with rigorous efficiency and skill. The design is simple and clean, and the functionality intuitive. Also, Jonatan, the developer, is remarkably engaged with users, and is constantly improving and updating features and functionality. Because the feature set is vast, I strongly encourage you to read the User Guide, and watch one of the many great tutorials, to make sure you understand whether AUM can meet your specific needs.
What you get when a brilliant engineer designs and writes the app!. Design = A+ Absolutely Amazing Features = A+ All encompassing Functionalty = A+ This is where the engineer shows his knowledge of hardware and audio technology. The Design and Features are all wrapped up in a simple, yet powerful interface. Don’t be fooled by AUM’s simple appearance. This is an incredibly powerful program. A musician’s universal tool that everyone who’s creating music in iOS should learn how to use.
Useful and reliable. This is the best iOS has to offer. As a professional musician I find the other apps, including the expensive DAWs, not ready for prime time. This app gives you the ability to design an environment you can run your entire performance on. No hiccups or flaws. If it weren’t for a few apps of this class on iOS, I would have gone back to Windows. This app does not disappoint.
One of the best DAWs for iOS. I heard about AUM for years, and I wasn’t sure if it would add much since I have almost all the DAWs for iPad (Auria pro, BM3, LP, Cb3) but I absolutely love AUM. It is one of the best DAWs and certainly an essential tool for iOS and iPadOS music production. You can experiment with endless configurations, routings, and there are so many tools for hardware. It is all so seamless. The GUI is gorgeous and it is a pleasure to work in. The developer is one of the biggest talents for this platform and iOS is lucky to have Kymatica as an exclusive dev. The more extensive 5 star reviews are no exaggeration. You should definitely get AUM if you are a music producer on iOS.
An amazing iPhone app for musicians!. It’s crazy how sophisticated and powerful iPhones have become. I remember having to manually program drum machines in the 80s, only being able to do midi on macs in the 90’s, barely being able to do multitrack recoding on PCs in 2000s. Now all of that can all be done on your iPhone using AUM - an app that glues sequencing, third party synths/effects into an integrated host. AUM is definitely a well designed and high quality piece of audio software (that’s coming from a guy that has been a musician and software engineer for over 25 years). Not to mention at a great price!
I apologise for the late response. A sudden thought just popped up in my head, If you consider the music apps and their number, Isn’t AUM is the most responsible and most sincere parent of them all. It’s an absolute magical thing, how come that such stable and unprecedented host, yes I call it the host, came into existence! The creator is the one who’s going to be the most influential figure within a very short time! Oh lord. I’ve seen every app crashed. Even yesterday, NTrack betrayed me Ike he’s out for blood. Couldn’t ever be able to use audio us, why don’t it work I don’t know, tried many times, but, it’s all the same thing. Dev, take care, you don’t know what you’ve done for every form of artists! Forever etched on history. Thank you.
iPad Musicians Friend For Life!!!. I have used this app since like 2016 I think and as my iOS music apps library grows this app becomes a mainstay especially at a live gig when I’m doing auxiliary keys, key bass sometimes clicks and stems using one or two iPads simultaneously and seamlessly holding things down sometimes by myself AUM has made me look like the smartest guy in the room especially during social distancing and the halting of most live performers. Thx for being useful.
A Must Have For Music Makers!. The best yet,AUM draws the elements of the iOS music world together seamlessly and makes music creation a joy. The experience has been a pure pleasure and I’m blown away by how much I can get done on my iPhone. I’ll have Korg Gadget, Bias Amp and several synths and drum apps as well as audio in via usb mic or guitar DI, and Bluetooth midi controller and keyboard all going in a session. I don’t really need to fire up the DAW too much, I still love Propellerheads Reason but AUM along with Gadget and Auria Pro is just so dam fast to fire up and start recording whatever idea I have at the moment. Incredibly powerful and inspiring, the software gets out of the way, I don’t want a computer around when I’m tracking, always hated it,hate looking at a big screen and waveforms, so this interface is for me much better than anything previous I’ve used. I love it! AUM and AudioShare are must have tools.
AUM changed my iOS life. I do a lot of live performance using my iPad as a plugin host with a MIDI (wind/breath) controller. AUM is an indispensable part of my setup, absolutely essential. It allows me to configure and save my instrument and effects plugin chains and setup customized MIDI control routing with the various apps. AUM allows me to use my iPad in the same way I setup these kind of patches on my laptop host. Being able to run this kind of setup on my iPad is a huge bonus, since it’s more portable than dragging my laptop rig around.
Glad I finally got it!. I delayed buying this for a long time, and then one day just got it out of curiosity. I just didn’t think I needed it because I like to record everything I play, in case I come up with something interesting. The things I love about AUM are: - it’s got such a clean UI, - super intuitive to use, so it’s the fastest app for making music - Excellent project management with folder creation and alphabetical ordering - Efficient and reliable I use AUM with Xequence 2, and that’s all I really need to compose MIDI tracks. The two apps feel so professional, with attention to little details, and incredibly smooth workflow. Both really shine on this touch platform. Highly recommend this perfect combo! Edit: Thanks so much for updating the AU/IAA icons!!
Great and Awesome/Special to us app - but 14.5 broke Link!!!. Dev, Could you please take a look at the latest IPad IOS update 14.5? We have never had an issue syncing with Ableton and our modular rig using AUM, but since this “important” update it seems our ability to use Link has been broken. Sorry to bug you… thank you for the joy this app brings us everyday… just wanted to know if it’s a known bug, or if you could look into it. Thanks so much!!! Peace :) Steve and Karly - Instagram-Altruit
Essential App for iOS Music Makers. The most essential app for iOS music production in my opinion. Beautiful intuitive UI with great attention to detail. Tons of functionality and constantly updated. Modular design that allows you to build your own custom workflow. Pretty please just add Midi clock in and this would put it in GOAT status for me.
Absolutely great.. Musicians and music creators of all kinds have different needs, some will use it to perform live, some will use it to record but this mixer is truly a Swiss Army Knife for total music app alchemy it is definitely much more than a mixer and every time I use it I discover something new about it that surprises me. I think it’s a fantastic app.
IPad Pro upgrade...Please.. I absolutely love this app. It just needs an upgrade for the IPad Pro so it can do split screen with other apps. I am currently using Audiobus 3 for live applications when I need to see the chord sheet and be able to change/adjust sounds on the fly. Thank you for such a great app.

The IOS go-to music app!. I have buckets loads of apps for iPad. This apparent “humble utility” is the one that’s “always on”. It’s meek appearance doesn’t convey just how powerful it is in the face of the at-times-challenging vagaries of iOS music & midi. If you want to run a bunch of AU synths and music apps simultaneously and route various controllers/keyboards to them this is the app for you. Will also do quick recordings for capturing song ideas. Can also be used with Audeonic midi byter as a channel if you practice the dark arts midi-evil… :)
Some bug creep. App launcher doesn’t work very reliably- often it’ll take 20 seconds to launch an IAA or AUM service, after which it fails and can only be launched manually. Works fine after being launched once
Brilliant app for ios.. One minor but useful addition however, would be actual file names appearing across the top. When you have many files, it becomes difficult to know which is the one opened. That aside, a must have app.
Needs multitrack record. Please give us multitrack recording so we can stem out our jams. Still too complicated to use an external solution.
Beautiful. I'm sure you've heard this plenty of times before; thank you for creating AUM, and making it such a complete and finessed app. You've improved the lives, I think it's fair to say, of many, many people.
Just Brilliant. I use this app to record the individual tracks from the bands mixer and then review the performance afterwards. So easy to use and a very good app. Well done.
An app that is hard not to have. This is one of those apps that it is kind of hard not to have. If you use IAA, audiobus, AU or midi then this is a must have utility
Default saving a problem. AUM is an amazing app, extremely powerful and tweak able. I had trouble saving default settings, the creator responded to my support request , issue resolved. A highly recommended app.
An excellent Audio Mixer.. AUM is an excellent choice for an audio mixer or plug in app. The ability to load the last configuration makes it a winner. It is easy to use and is exactly as described. I wanted audiophile quality jazz and chill/new age music so this is how I achieved my goal. ( In the following order ) AUM + Radio Unit + 6144 + JAX + MagicVerb + Magic Death Eye DDMF + Magic Death Eye Stereo + Bluetooth L+R through a reasonable stereo unit. The results were beyond my expectations and well worth the time and money to set up. If you prefer rock or modern music instead ,then substituting Envelope instead of Magic Verbe might be a better option. Many thanks to the developer of AUM for this wonderful mixer to allow me to use the above plug ins easily without any complications. Cheers and all the best, Rob.
Essential. This should be one of the first purchases for any serious iOS musician. It is the most useful utility app I have in my arsenal. Get it now
Very, very, very impressed. This is a fantastic app. It's ridiculously simple to use, has low CPU overhead and comes with a huge range of features. Get it whilst it's 50% off as an opening special!
Fabulous. This is an amazing app for music and audio. Absolutely a must buy. Brilliant piece of software, as all his software is, and it's only 3.3 meg! Thank you.
Kymatica Does It Again! Thanks, Jonatan!. About three and a half years ago I was privileged to be one of the first people on the Aussie App Store to review a new (at the time) App called AudioShare. When I first saw AudioShare, I instantly knew that it was going to be special and very important to me as an iOS musician - never dreaming that perhaps one day another App by the same author would arrive that would not only complement AudioShare, but might actually eclipse it in some respects. . . .Here It Is. This is IT. This is the BIG ONE. And if YOU, like me, are into creating iOS music, then believe me, YOU NEED THIS! AUM is a work of Genius, at first glance it's a little bit like Audiobus, but it does SO much MORE! It connects just about everything to everything else audio-wise , - even Audio Units (AUv3) Apps. FANTASTIC!
Perfect modular workflow. I got hooked on Logic Pro for iPad recently - and it’s pretty great. The thing is, I really missed having a setup where I could quickly jam and try different combinations of generators and effects. Most importantly - I wanted a couple of my plugins / instruments onscreen at once, but logic really forces you into having panels slide in and out all over the place like some sort of DAW version of an accordion. It’s kinda maddening at times. I just want simplicity, and flexibility if I need it. There was a bit of learning curve, but with AUM and a handful of plugins I’ve managed to find a workflow that just clicks for me. Feels almost as immediate as jamming with hardware, but I can fit it in my pocket. MIDI mapping is a breeze. Absolutely insane as a creative platform once it all clicks. If you’re on the fence, check out Jakob Haq on YouTube - he’s the guru and has tons of tutorials and advice to help you get started. Go for it!
How to do without?. As a performer (guitarist, singer and songwriter), I use this app for my gigs. Stable, simple, hugely effective. I really love AUM and want to thanks all the team for what I consider as the greatest app ever for live music maker. Thanks guys
Essential!!. I have been waiting for an App that does what this does. This is an essential App for anyone who really wants to create a customised mixing environment for the iPad. With a USB audio interface and a midi controller you can create amazing mixing environments that are customised to your liking. I have finally been able to use this App to create a Live mixing environment for my outboard gear (drum machines, samplers, synth) and map the controls to a midi controller just how I want it. This is the future I have been waiting for :-)
Brilliant, but.... It’s a brilliant environment for iOS music making, no doubt. One huge (for me and many on forums) BUT is the lack of midi clock receive function. I wanted to use my carefully crafted AUM setup with my modular synths and hit the wall. It didn’t even cross my mind that a piece of brilliant programming would be missing a simple, essential function. Downloading the competition’s app as I type...

Mercantile. The app is quite pricey for the content it provides. I would have expected more features for the price. I’ve been boycotting these guys for very long and just splurged in because audiobus cant use as many busses and there isn’t anyone else making quality audio unit hosts… Midi processing of somesort, note repeats and sub pads, velocity processors and translators and full screen multibus audio unit support would have been expected for the price… This app is great, but it could be better and the price doesn’t reflect that.
I don’t what’s going on. I want to use a DAW. I’ve got loads now - Zenbeats/Cubasis3/Beatmaker/Auria/Auxy/GarageBand... but. Whenever I want to play music my finger automagically opens AUM instead. I really have to force myself to use the others rather than this. The only reason that I ever have a debate is because of the lack of timeline editing -but Imaginando’s LK and 4Pockets Multi-Track fix those deficiencies. AUM is the perfect host for AUV3/MPE workflows.
Bravo!. Excellent update for an already exceptional app. Worth every penny.
Have an idea... I love AUM, it is my go-to daw and I appreciate the update.. I am curious to know if it is possible in the future to access the project notes from the session title? It would definitely help me to know what IAA’s to open ahead of time for faster load time, among other things. Thank you.
Wow, Turns my iPad Pro into a live Instrument. This app is serious. With all the great virtual Instruments for iPad this harnesses it and turns it into an ultimate live module situation. Game changer!! This can make expensive keyboards obsolete.
Love It! Want More from it!…. Love all the other great reviews. I have nothing to say that is negative about this app and it’s creator. All the same I would like to see more Dj style features included! May I suggest an actual crossfader channel that is preconfigured to operate like the variable cross fade on a Dj console! we need a touch fader that will do the task so that one does not need to hook up a controller; this would be especially useful on the iPhone! I have seen only three examples of how to do crossfade in AUM . … my other desire is to make it work with zoom audio sharing! The only app I found so far that is able to play audio through Zoom is “Beatime” which is awesome at what it does. P.S.: I think it is worth every $$$ and is a unique beast in the Metaverse! All love; all the time — give me more; pretty please😍🫵🏾
An ESSENTIAL tool for any iOS Musician. AUM is a pretty big deal in terms of connecting everything to everything. The ability to load instrument apps, audiounit extensions, and even Audiobus sources... the routing possibilities are really quite amazing. Has permanently changed my workflow on Ipad Pro. Lastly, the developer puts a genuine effort into answering questions, thank you to Jonatan.
Perfect. Plus 1 more star when it has MIDI learn on Tap Tempo. I’ve been using AUM on gigs wth an iPad or iPhone as my FX rack for 6 months. Nearly perfect performance throughout. Now I’m using it in my mobile studio. This app is the glue for iOS music. Brilliant.
Most Important App for musicians. I first reviewed AUM 2 years ago and refresh it every so often when it hits me how bloody amazing the app is. I want to thank Jonatan, the developer, every chance I get without being obnoxious. He keeps tweaking and adding features to improve an already perfect mixer. The routing capabilities makes this app over the top mind blowingly perfect. There is also the fact of having tons of little things to make you often think "WHAT, it does that too!" Jonatan tweaks when something comes to his mind that he knows will be appreciated by us. It's not like he makes a list of nice to haves and spreads out their addition to be able to regularly add one to make it look like he is doing something. He adds things as they come to mind. AUM is one of those music making apps for ipados/iOS that every one of us must have. I just can't say enough. I smile a lot every day because of the fun i have using AUM. It's just that great. Hey, if you want to ask for a feature, contact the dev by email. Don't take stars off the review to push for things. That will just lower the rating, and gives a dishonest evaluation for you to get something. Not fair to the dev and not fair to other musicians who could get a lower collective opinion. The rating is to communicate how good or bad an app is to help users decide which apps to choose. Just send an email and start a dialogue with the dev to make suggestions etc.
The new age is dawning for iOS musicians!. The AUM age!
Indispensable for iOS music making. Every session I do with my iPad including hardware synths starts with AUM. It is the essential tool for recording and midi management. Top notch programming with so many fantastic and useful features. Don’t hesitate to add this incredible tool to your music making.
Updates make it even more amazing. Very nice app for musicians. Updated often. Can be used as mixer and central area to load apps. Works with audiobus and midi. Please continue to add midi features
If you love AudioShare…. You will adore AUM. In fact the two play so well together it’s insane.
Worth every penny. This is the way mixing and recording should be done...incredibly versatile!
AUM makes magic. If you make music on iOS, aum is a must have. It’s a playground for over 1000 auv3
Simply the best. This app has been the best at what it does for years... incredible really. If you use your iOS device to make music, either as a hobby/dabbler, or a aspiring/professional musician... this is it.
One of the best!. If you're making music on iOS you really need to get this. Yes there are other options out there, but you won't know what you're missing until you try out this incredibly useful app.
Really nice, just an annoying bug. Does exactly what I need but there is a bug at the moment where you can’t change the buffer size if siri is activated. When I disable her everything works otherwise I get message an app in the background is blocking me from changer the buffer size.
Crucial App. I only wish that the built in keyboard was editable and you could size it up for those players like myself who are all thumbs. Otherwise it’s perfect !!!
THE APP. Great app - works as advertised, solid performance, responsive developer, great community support, easy to understand well written manual and it’s future looks bright. Have questions ? Not understanding something about the app ? Reach out in more effective ways than leaving a bad review.

Essential app. I use AUM every day, it has become the centerpiece of most of my iOS music making experience. If only there were even more auv3 plugins to choose between
AUV3 upgrade would be awesome!!. AUM is a stellar music app the only thing that could make it better would be an AUV3 upgrade and compatibility with Logic Pro for IPad.
Simplicity of complexity. AUM does a lot and in a straight forward easy to do way. Work flow is quick. Well worth the price of admission! Seems everything Kymatica puts out is 5 Star
If you don't know what AUM is. Then you're not paying attention to the ios music community. Its kymatica. Theyre a giant in the ios community. Everything they make is gold
Absolutely Indispensable App. Trying to make iPad music without AUM is like showing up for a job as a mechanic without any wrenches.
Beautiful. The flexibility combined with the intuitive interface makes AUM my favorite mobile creative app.
Indispensable!. Some apps just need just a few words to describe their outstanding value. Aum is definitely one of them due to the elegance of its design and also for the robust performance in every aspect of its functionality. INDISPENSABLE......!
Incredible!!. This App is such a incredible tool and creative interface to make music and for live use as well. Now I have one request, to be able to export a project as a Ableton Live Set.
Must have audio utility for iOS. I cannot say enough good things about this app. It keeps getting better and better especially now that I can use external hardware effects with the hardware send feature.
Please add keyboard shortcuts.. Excellent update, this update is great, but it’s lacking a great feature and that is keyboard shortcuts. For someone like me that uses an iPad Pro with a folio keyboard it would be amazing to control some basic functions with the keyboard instead. Looking forward to hearing back from you on this. Thanks!,
Essential. First thing to get if you’re into iOS music production.
Just one request. Could you add a feature to let people save patches and scenes?
Do you need AUM? Yes... yes you do.. You can read all the other reviews here to see why it’s awesome, or you can just accept that you’re going to buy it eventually and just get it over with.
GET IT NOW. The most unsmart thing you can do is think “I already have a DAW, what’s the point of AUM…” uhhh not sure why I waited this long to finally get it. Worth the money.
Can it get better?. I am still finding new ways to integrate this into my music workflow. Probably the most flexible and effective software ever written, totally serious.
Amazing, with one issue. I love AUM and the workflow, but if the on screen keyboard could be enlarged or otherwise adjusted in size, it would be complete.
Exactly what I was looking for! Worth it at twice the price. “Mainstage” for iPad. I can control all my instruments and plugins for live performance in one spot. Also product support is fantastic!
Great…. Please add video support for multimedia artists. Great…. Please add video support for multimedia artists Many musicians would love to also incorporate visuals in sync with their music You have audio and MiDi mixing, input, and output…. I would love it if it had the ability to host video players or a vj app
Incredibly well-made software. Thoughtfully laid out, easy to use, and extremely powerful. Not only is this an indispensable “studio brain” of any iPadOS musician, it’s software as a work of art. Simply the best.
Amazing. Mind-Blown, didn’t even know this was possible on an IOS device, such a clean interface, takes a bit to get a hang of but just amazing
Essential. Buy this app; it’s essential for making music on iOS. No hype. This is also my go-to host for testing my own AUv3 plug-ins.
You need this. If you’re trying to do music on iOS and you don’t have this app, you should grab it asap. It opens up worlds within the iOS framework!
Great app, but no midi sync?. Great app through and through, except you can’t sync to midi?? That seems like a pretty basic feature. Sure, there are workarounds with LINK and another app, but please include midi sync to external hardware in a (near) future update if at all possible. Thanks for your efforts on this tool!
LFOs is all we need. Everyone who makes music on iOS needs this app. Thank you so much for all your hard work in developing AUM. I only ask for one more thing; built in LFOs for all the app parameters. Please consider this. Thanks again.
Great Platform. Calling this an app doesn’t do it justice. This is a great platform for all types of musicians, not just electronic musicians. I use it for my live performances. Great job!
Landscape. At this point it seems like a matter of pride that this app will never have a landscape mode, but geez would a landscape mode make it so much more usable in various situations.
As close to perfect as an IOS mixer could get!. This is almost perfect! Could use a few little features like: * Ability activate and deactivate or bypass channel fx via midi mapping. * MORE busses. Need at least 4 more. At least I,J,K,L * Built in ability to sidechain. Real side chaining compression, or fake ducking.
Needs a Trial. Waste of money, as it won’t do what I hoped it would do. This is where companies really need to have a trial before purchasing. Stay away unless you have someone who has it and can show you if it will do what you need. PS: I was going to change the review but after the snotty comment from the developer, nope going to be one star still.
Not one app should have all that power!. This right here is the center-point for music production on iOS. I’ve recorded and made music on a lot formats, software and hardware, and AUM is on my top 3 lists of favorite music tools ever.
Brilliant. Keeps getting better with all latest updates thank you! The best on iOS!
Perfect except for one flaw. This app is fantastic! My only wish is that I could go split screen on my iPad. Audiobus can, and it makes life so much easier. Thanks for a terrific app nonetheless!
Keeps crashing. Using AUM on iPad iOS 14.6 Opens up with audio engine off though no other apps or windows are open. Will randomly happen during a session. It’s hard to use AUM without this trouble, please fix.
Great app needs to fix mic auto connecting when devices are disconnected. This app needs a null audio device so you don’t get the mic when you disconnect a device. How is auto connecting the iPhone microphone a professional feature?
Powerful and intuitive!. I found this app powerful and intuitive. Easy to get started with, with plenty of features under the hood, when you ready to dig a little deeper. My biggest challenge is learning how to use all the apps I plug into it.
Essential and amazing for me. Please keep up to date. I love this app for effects and a clean route. Please stick with it for years to come. Thanks for reading.
Indispensable for musicians! If you don’t have it.... ...you should!!! It gets used almost every day around here. Wonderful app. Absolute must-have along with AudioShare. Kymatica apps are some of the best iOS music apps available.
Doesn’t work as expected. Some routing features don’t seem to work with certain plugins that work fine in other daw apps.
Fantastic app. I started my music exploration just one year ago. Thanks to AUM and how it all plugs and fits in I have learned so much about MIDI, synthesis, side chains, end of chain. Where and how do I pay the developer more?
Needs new update. The latest iOS update has caused this app not to functionality properly. Midi is not recognizing any of my keyboard or controllers
Awesome. It’s set up as a sound module for my MPC. Still trying to figure out a way to control pre-roll with a MIDI Controller. Thank you for this app!!!!
Love this app but some bugs lately. Been using this app for years but using midi with the app causes app the to crash or the midi is inconsistent. Also crashing more often over the last few months. Still love the app
King of iOS musical apps. AUM is the Hub to connect iOS music apps, I don’t know of anything else that can do what AUM can. It was a game changer for me and now I can enjoy all the wonderful iOS music apps.
Fast and gives cpu usage. This is the only audio mixer / router that I found that can run auto-tune on my iPhone 6 without crackling sounds. It also gives the cpu usage, which is helpful.
Top notch!. Top Notch. Between this and audio share they are my most used apps. Every piece of music it touched by these apps multiple times. Well done!
Sorry. I’ve written a few reviews explaining some issues and both times the response page came up blank. I apologize that it seems I may have ignored your responses.
inter apps not working. after the ios 15 update interapps do not load edit: OK I figured it out you can load the interapp and then it will load. You only need to load the stand alone once.
New MIDI updates are nice. Supported all the Kymatica stuff for years. Always integral to an iOS process flow. AUM MIDI Routing included. The new updates have made this aspect easier (and I liked the previous process as well, for the record) and are well-considered. Great stuff!
