Amazing program. I had it for a couple of years, and didn't mess with it much because I didn't read the manual and I found it to be sort of interesting, but not particularly useful for anything musical. Today I read the users guide and I'm figuring it out a bit. It's amazing, and addictive. Not for those afraid of chaotic rhythms.

Awesome....an idea tho...... This app is fantastic for creating the ultimate in glitchy type stuff.....so wonderfully tweakable and everchanging....the update made it twice as good. But my suggestion would be to not only allow us a way to pan Sectors....but, how about go one further and give us ANOTHER sector wheel.....one LEFT, one RIGHT....dig? Give us some stereo love.

great app but should not rely on other apps. I got this app because I wanted to make music. I was enjoying the app until I realized that i had to buy another app called Audioshare just to import some straight loops I made. I don't just want to play with the default samples forever just because I don't want to buy a whole separate app. Sector was already so expensive for an app, why couldn't you integrate importing/exporting into it? Please do and I will change my rating. Thanks.

Best in show. This app is amazing. Seriously raises the bar for glitch apps with its logical layout and superb GUI. New bits are on the way, and I'm sure they will add even more functionality to an already wonderful app. Bravo!

Sector rocks. If you are looking for new and exciting ways to take your loops this is it. From sequencing the slices to altering playback using the wrp feature, Sector is a powerful tool to have in your arsenal. Looking forward to future updates, would be nice to see an effects processor add on for each individual slice. Good stuff Maynard!

WOW! Seriously powerful!. Since I use and enjoy his AUFX series of apps on a daily basis I had high hopes for what the developer would do with this concept. He did not disappoint! This is a seriously powerful app for slicing, mangling, shuffling or otherwise adding sonic interest to your beats as well as melodic elements. I've only spent an hour with it thus far and I'm already hooked! The interface is mostly intuitive but has a bit of a learning curve. It's actually quite simple but do yourself a favor and read the user guide on the developers website. It will make starting out easier. Seriously, if this app looks at all appealing to you, trust me it's a must buy. And running in no time

Best exotic frenzy. I’ve just begun to explore this treasure but even the presets offer endless experimentation. Just mapped a bunch of cool functions to MIDI in about two minutes. It’s a deal. Buy it!

Gigantic!. Kymatica is producing hands down the best ios music apps for those with both a sense of adventure and expectation of quality. The AUFX series of effects are to my mind equal to, in some cases superior to, much more expensive and well advertised plug ins. Sector may sound and look forbidding with its stochastic references, dark optics and flywheel of data. It is in fact a joyful and unexpectedly deep sound manipulation toolbox that, if I were to draw parallels where there are none, is akin to Figure set loose from the P-stable on gigantic quantities of steroids. It renders samples, shifts bpm and tone, stutters and glitches to be sure, but the real treat is the freedom it affords the user to go as far as he or she wants. Or not. Once you get the geography of the app, it becomes a playground of sonic mirth and mischief. Highly recommended and, as has been pointed out, it is consistently well supported, updated and feedback-welcome.

Fantastic Instrument. Well designed, stable, intuitive instrument that is excellent for live performance as well as in the studio for composition and sound design. For over 3 years Sector has had a permanent spot in my live rig.

I Wish I could open multiple instances simultaneously. Midi triggers would be nice.

Lots of Control and Variation. With a wide range of warps, the ability to change your bpm, sequences, randomization of control values, and the number of sectors plus midi control, you can get a lot of music mileage out of your sample producing everything from the chaotic to ordered.

Needs one import thing.. It would be nice to be able to load longer speeches and songs to this sampler.

Great app. This sounds great. I added my own samples and this thing sound great.

Essential. I think I have over $500 in apps on my iPad. This is easily one of my top five favorites. Genius interface. Endless possibilities for sound design too!

Useful Audio Tool - KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. This application is a powerful tool in the right workflow. Experience is subjective to user.

Outstanding glitch tool. This latest offering from Kymatica is every glitcher's dream. Functionally, it's a wonderful tool for twisting loops more or less randomly. Aesthetically, Sector is probably the most beautifully-animated iOS app I've seen to date. 5/5, will use constantly.

Love This Mangler. I don't even know what to do with it, really, but it's so much fun to goof around with I don't care. Even though it doesn't exactly fit in with the kind of music I write, I find myself drawn in again and again to just pass the time in a very entertaining way.

Nothing like it. Best part of this app was seeing the first video and wondering why I would ever need it, followed by seeing another video and wondering how I could live without it. Creative, obtuse, inspiring, but most of all fun. Insane amount of stuff in the first update. Another reason the iPad is just so great for interactive music making.

A super blast into the Future!. If you are into really getting creative with your beats, this app is indispensable! One of the reviews here said that there was no users guide, don't be fooled by this, there IS a users guide. You can get really abstract with this! I ADORE it! Another great tool! I have a hard time believing that people complain about the prices of apps when they never stop to think how much money a hardware version of this would cost. Buy it!

Amazingly powerful sequencing. Read the manual if you're unsure of how to use it. This app single-handedly has taken my production sound to the next level! I don't usually write reviews, but this one is worthwhile.

Brilliant. Discoverable. Musical.. This little beat mangler is massive in playability and usability. My favorite music app of the last year. A unique interface that defies you at first but once you grok it, completely makes sense. Some great choices made here. In 15 minutes on my first session I was making beats that would take hours in Ableton. Glad I got this one.

It's not that expensive dude, just buy it! :). Also, all those complaints about tempo sync or whatever, they have been fixed. This app does everything it should! Now go mangle and sample some beats! :)

You can't go wrong - buy. Buy everything this developer makes. His apps are top shelf in terms of creativity, form and function. I took off a star just to get his attention towards the lack of an in-app level control distinct from the volume control. (+ waiting for MIDI too)... If you're curious about what I mean by levels, check out the level control present in iGrand or iLectric by IK Multimedia, which are useful for digital mixer input leveling. Great app. Too hard to describe, just go to the developers website and watch the videos. Genius. Better still, buy it...

Brilliant. I haven't figured out all of what is going on yet, but this app is brilliant. I absolutely am inspired to start importing and twisting audio about. I highly recommend this app. If aliens have a drum machine, this has got to be it. Alien technology :)

The missing link to chopping up samples quickly!. Sector is not only gorgeous and mesmerizing to look at, it’s fun, inspiring, and generates new life into my music loops. It’s defines the future of music. It’s worth every penny!

Mesmerizing. This is a great app for chopping, twisting and creating all kinds of interesting contortions in your music. The layout looks confusing at first but really is pretty straight forward and easy to use. I only give it four stars because I occasionally have problems with some of the warp effects getting 'stuck' and repeating far longer than they should. Also, sound quality suffers a bit with to many jumps with natural sounding samples. All in all this app is amazing.

This is Genius!. This app is pure genius. I've just begun trying out making loops and sounds to import into it. Looking forward to working more with this one. An inspiration. Haven't enjoyed technology this much since my Interocitor.

The bomb for generative loops.. This thing is a beast. If you just twiddle around with it you can make some neato loops. However, if you prepare special loops for it. Then take the time to set up the paths and probabilities it is just plain awesome. This has genuine deep utility for making generative music.

Essential iOS Music App. Perfect beat slicer and arranger. Now mute slices and Sector even accommodates for apps that don't send fractional beat time info. This is all wishes granted for me, one of the few perfect music apps in the store by the genius behind Audioshare and AUFX.

Inspiring. What a beautiful and inspiring app this is. It also runs perfect on my 1st generation iPad mini with ios 6. Only one request will be an ability to mute or silence the "sectors". In this way, you can get space between your randomized beats or whatever the audio file you are using to make the end result a little more musical.

So engaging! One of my favorite apps.. If you're like the guy who left a poor review because what this app doesn't fit his musical style, fine. But if you love to explore, be surprised, appreciate true innovation and beautifully designed apps, just get this app!! I have to be careful when I open up Sector because most of the time I'm going to finally look up several hours later and realize I only have a couple of hours to sleep before work the next day. It is so engaging, fun, and beautiful to use, that I can get lost for hours. I recommend this app to anyone who loves to explore and has an open mind about musical ideas. No go have some fun!

This is not a fn toy.. Anything can be used in the current paradigm dynamic of iOS audio. This is the same developer that brought us two of the must haves - AUM and AudioShare. So with that in mind, think about how the audio you have in AudioShare can be coughed up and spit back out backwards on a loop next Thursday ... something like that. That being said, if you are not already comfortable enough with experimenting music you might see it as impractical. I have noticed that it lends itself to the crazy rock n roll that kids are listening to today with their crazy hair and denim loafers. Yikes! What’d it called? Dumbstep? Dump stump? Yeah that. When you take speeches and phrases from #thedonaldtrump and make them available to this app, what ends up happening is something of a miracle ... he makes total sense.

Innovative and amazing. SECTOR is a one-of-a-kind app for iOS music. By loading in a loop, you can create subtle tweaks or absolutely rearrange it to an entirely new sound. The probability functions are amazing. A great app for beats, but also quite nice for simple musical loops, if you want to add some variations. The developer is renowned in the iOS musician circles for consistent updates and new features. This is money well spent.

Powerful tools, great interface.. What can I say? Kymatica has knocked this one out of the park. Instant IDM and glitch music from just a few simple adjustments. But it goes very in-depth. With MIDI implementation to come, this will be very effective at manipulating your samples into probabilistic mayhem. Messing with it for about an hour and reading the quick users guide on the developer's website got me into making cool music fast!

Getting sleep after this?. Remember stochastic music and Markova chains from the academy. Can’t stop playing with it,just when I think I am done it comes with a great loop to use. Loops of fun and very useful if you have curiosity and patience.

Interesting. Interesting toy, but in my humble opinion not an app I will use a lot for making "music". You can manipulate one loop at a time and unless Sector is used conservatively, what you end up with only resembles music in an abstract or a repetitive way. Still it is an entertaining app but a bit expensive for its practicality. I applaud the Dev for creativity.

Not just a toy. Study the manual and you can craft some amazing beats, inspired by the randomized. Like any instrument, you have to show it some love to get the full expression it offers.

Revisiting this several years after buying. And it’s even more fun! With iOS Music MIDI and audio tools making it easier to generate repeating loops, it can be tempting to devote way too much time to arranging clips in order to get music with enough variety that it’s worth zoning out to for a few hours. Sector last you take that catchy motif and twist it into an ever evolving groove. Still wishing for iPhone and AU versions! I’d love to be able to run multiple instances of this in AUM and let simple loops intertwine for hours on end.

Love this app!. It's a little difficult to explain Sector. But it allows you to easily alter rhythms in complex and surprising ways. The best thing is to experiment a little, and it will come clear. I've used it in a couple of projects and it provided spice to add variety to the songs Also, it's a good-looking app, which makes using it even more pleasant.

Incredible. This is a brilliant and beautifully designed app. Insane loop mangler with incredibly intuitive and thorough modification tools. Not to mention, the developer is always on top of the app. Kudos to being one of the first to implement ios8 compatibility and fixes. Highly recommend this and all other apps by kymatica.

RhythmaLoop wonderland. A fun and challenging app for true creative musicians who have a sense of adventure and persistence. You can get a great variety of results if you take time to explore and experiment.

Completely over the top STILL. This app I rediscovered and it is just so worth the money. I totally dig the sounds/rhythms/sequencing approach this app utilizes and just wanted to give ANOTHER shout out because this app is just stellar (of course all his apps are perfect and they work great together) My fun with Sector has increased and so should my review... This is a mind blower of an instrument. Just when I thought it was safe to hide the 12" weenie roller... This app will have you throwing random bits of conversation, samples of children arguing, my girlfriend asking me if I can play a b flat so she can tune her flute..(well I guess I said random) and mangling, chopping, dicing and regurgitating back these audio bits as little Sectors of sound that of course each are insanely configurable to no end. Mr. Liljedahl has SEEREEUSLYY undone himself this time and I've been having a blast using Sector! Orig. review:Had me staring glassy eyed at my pad all night. Had numerous half and even quarter conversations about ?? Just when I thought I could rest from a long bout of app addiction Sector landed and it is a nice rhythmic, glitchy, beat creator/destroyer! Totally having a blast and now seeking the manual...

Please Update. Do not abandon this app, please! It is much too fun!

Just a toy. This app is very eye pleasing, and fun for about 30-40 minutes. If you are an actual musician I would say buy this when its on sale for 99 cents. You only have a chance of making a beat or song and it will never play twice. Yes I know it says this in the description, but it's kind of misleading calling it a "sequencer" at all. It does what it does well though, but sound quality is pretty awful like others have said, and their "pro quality samples and loops" might have been quality before they put them in, but the sound engine is lacking at best. There is no real way to make it sound any better either. I put real pro quality samples into it and got back flat lifeless ear garbage. I find it useless for my IOS music projects.

Chop it up!. This is the coolest app I've ever played with! So much control... if I want to control it. Sometimes I don't want to control it. I can't stop loading up loops and mangling them! This app gives all the other apps new life. Try it with pads, drums, random sounds or melodies. The ability to change the number of steps makes this a groovy creation generator! I love this app! My god it’s beautiful. Sector is a gem, the only thing I can critique is the fact it isn’t AUv3. If I could run an orchestra of ‘Sectors’ that would be a glorious disaster. Thank you for such a timeless tool you son of a synth.

Verging upon perfection. This app is incredibly powerful, I can see it making it's way into the majority of my production work. A simple, intuitive concept which allows for a deep and fine tuned mashing of drum loops and other sample content (I can see vocal snippets also yielding gratifying results). Expertly combines probability based playback with plenty of controls and sequencing options to make for subtle variations or raging torrents of glitched out breakbeat madness. Amen brother, amen.

You need this...Astonishingly brilliant.. There has never been anything like this thing, anywhere, on any platform for music creation, iOS, OSX, or PC... slow and steady. everything this developer releases is useful. i didn't think i needed sector, now i wish that i had purchased it long ago. fast for resequencing ideas. great for breaking out of sequencing habits/ruts. the randomising features are fun. the app allows full control if the user wishes to ignore the randomising functions. highly controllable and/or random. sector is a useful tool for any genre/instrument. though the developer is sometimes slow to update, he always does. if issues are found and reported, he's quick to fix.

INTENSE GLITCH LOOPER!. I'm going to revisit all of my generative drum apps and make some beats to put into this, absolutely mental app! The price is worth it. Very easy to understand, too, Thank you!

Unreal. It is hard to describe what this app does, but the sounds you get out of it can be quite unreal. SECTOR-ize your sounds in AudioShare, I promise it will blow your mind. 🤯

Wow. This is by far the best sampler i own! I own them all seriously. I have just started to use the sequencer and come up with some crazy beats. I haven't even got into the other 2 types. It's awesome I am so happy I bought. Sick.

Brilliant!. An amazing and innovative example of iPad gaming. I'm not usually a fan of twitch games, but this is beautiful in so many ways.

Fantastic App. The best sequencing app I've used on the iPad. The interface is incredible. The possibilities are endless.

Confusing and no help docs. For eight bucks a little tutorial would be nice. There's nothing intuitive about this app otherwise.

A lotta fun, but. The sounds, while not mono, are pretty close to that. It would be nice to have some sort of panning function.
