Very Helpful, and fun, too!. I'm a fifty-something newbie to reading music, and this app is the best of the 4 or 5 I've tried. With all of the different settings, you can start at the absolute beginning--but then, as you progress, you'll be able to tweak various settings and keep challenging yourself. WELL worth the money!

Very helpful. Beginner and need to improve sight reading. It might be boring for others, but to me, I love it. It's very helpful to get familiar with notes. Sure we need to spend time on it. I hope it will provide chords reading soon. Thanks!

Fun way to learn scales, note recognition and sight reading. This is the perfect answer to the problem of boring drills on the scales and repetitious sight reading exercises. Great app!. Use this in teaching daily. Would love for it to display its notes but have the student play it on their piano and for the app to hear the note rather than playing it on the iPad but a guy can dream! Good job!

Fabulous for Adult Learners Too. I love this app! I could never master ledger reading as a kid. This app has changed all that. This is easy, fun, and yep, even an adult can do it. Better than any note speller I've tried and so much cheaper than even one workbook. You can play over and over and over until you can do it in your sleep. What a difference this has made in my return to the piano. Now I can concentrate on all the nuances of playing music, the technique. I really enjoy the time I spend working on a piece now. Have kids? They will be much better musicians after spending some of their practice time with this app. I can only imagine how much more I would have gotten out of lessons if I'd had this.

Excellent app. This is an excellent app for learning how to read notes. I purchased almost every app like this and nothing compares. The other programs have one or two good elements incorporated but they are always lacking something important like for example, they only teach the major scales but not the minor scales and or leave out the flats and sharps. Other apps have the full scale but they don't show you where the notes are and so on and so forth. So after downloading five different apps that teach sight reading, this is the best one so far. Now to improve this app, in the next iteration of this software, we need to include sight reading games similar to the ones found on the "piano notes" app where you play against time. Also include the actual notes scale-wheel visual and make it interactive along with building in a pitch listening module. This is the most comprehensive software so far but I still have to use

does what is says it does. App works as adverticed, i just wished it would remember the notes i am not particularly good at and a) focuses the test more on the weak notes as well as b) shows me at the end of a test which are my weak notes. Certainly not bad for the money.

AMAZING!!!. 15 minutes a day has turned my daughters piano lessons from a struggle to a delight. Her teacher can't believe the progress she has made with her sight reading. I credit this application with that progress--completely. Flash cards never worked well for her, nor did the numerous other methods we tried. But ever since I hooked my ipad to our full sized 88 key digital piano, she has begun excelling. My sincere thanks to developer of this app!

Perfect!. I've been looking for an app that teaches while using an actual, physical keyboard piano. Plugged my iPad into my keyboard, and the app immediately recognized every key I pressed. I wish the app also tutored on proper finger movement and placement when moving up and down the keyboard.

Simple, yet effective. When it comes to learning how to play notes, my first go-to option is this app. Since I don't own a piano yet, and I have classes on them, I can practice my knowledge of the notes while I'm on the run and at home. Pick this great app up

Wonderful Piano notes learning app!. I really enjoy Piano Note Pro for learning musical notes. I use to play violin for years. After not touching a music a musical instrument for over a decade, I can't read anymore. Piano Note helps me read notes faster. It's certainly a lot faster than trial and error sitting in front of my piano. What I like to see in an update would be games to see how many keys I pressed correctly within a time internal. Allow players to set time limit to 1 minute, 5 minute or whatever they choose. Also to keep records for most keys pressed in 1 minute as well as daily records & weekly records. That way it motivates players to keep playing. If it's not too much trouble, add an option to add notes so I can practice my current musical pieces :-)

Excellent. This is a great supplemental theory program for my young piano students. Easy to choose what areas need worked on and I can keep track of their progress. The kids live that they are using the iPad for theory instead of using boring old books! I recommend this for private teachers of young students just learning to read music.

Beats all piano apps, hands down!. Without a doubt, the best piano app on the iPad. I look forward to practicing with this app. I have improved tenfold. If this only existed 20 years ago. The only thing I would do differently is to add the choice to play ONLY certain key's chords. So for example, if a student wanted to practice "c" chords only, they could. If that were possible, this app would be unstoppable!!!!!

good program. I am a beginner. I bought this and mozart. I like note goal better. It has more learning tools like telling you the names of the notes on the keyboard and options to limit highest and lowest note and number of notes to learn during the lesson and extensive help levels including a tutor mode. Much more features than mozart. Get note goal.

Perfect learning tool. I've been playing piano off and on for years and never got good at reading music and thought is was about time to do so. Luckily I found this app and it's been great... exactly what I needed. Basically, it shows you notes and you play them on the keyboard. But there are many things that make it special... Getting a score turns it into a game which keeps you coming back for more. Unlike other apps that show one note at a time, this will show multiple notes at a time, which helps you look ahead and build up some speed. You have fine control over the range of notes to be tested and how long each game/session lasts. 3 different piano zoom levels is great. And finally, it just looks pretty well polished. My only request might be... when I get a note wrong, I sometimes don't notice that I got it wrong until 2 notes later, as I'm reading ahead and don't notice the text that pops up. A sound signaling a wrong note might be nice. ? Anyway, thanks Patrick for this great app. It's been really helpful and I'm excited that I can finally start reading simple sheet music much quicker now.

A cut above the rest, I highly recommend.. This is the one! I have tried multiple note reading apps, and, compared to those other ones, this one seems to be the only one which was created by an individual who actually understands how to read music and has thought how to best create an app to teach others. I think that if they put some work in, there are even more possibilities which this particular app could offer. I would give it more stars if I could. Thanks for the program!

Really great program, but..... I have been a music tutor for the last few years and this app has been a great addition to to my curriculum. Not only does it help my students but with the right settings it can be difficult even for experienced musicians. One thing that could really make this app super powerful would be the ability to use the microphone for answer input. That way my students can play on their actual piano. Many times the reason students get the wrong answer is because of the finicky touch screen controls. Microphone input would solve this and help develop muscle memory on their actual instrument, Even if it's not piano! Please consider this addition in future updates!

The best its kind. Simply the best in its category. Beautiful and intuitive interface with lots of control and customization. Would love to have both treble and bass staffs be visible at the same time so I can be tested on both simultaneously. Also would be great if it kept track of my errors so I can see which notes I have trouble with and then go back and work on those notes in particular. But in a category that has a slew of mediocre apps, this one stands out as the best. Thanks for the great work.

Great and easy to learn. I've tried a LOT of apps to help me learn while on the go. This one is by far the best, elegant and very practical. I and my kids can all improve our piano sight reading skills when we are at home too!

Great for learners. The update fixed the often complained about sound problems. For me at least, and for now, so I'll give back the stars I stole. ;-) A great app that really does help you learn notes. Now if I could only sit down more frequently to practice ...

one of the two very best apps available. PianoNotes Pro made me the piano player I am; it is just excellent. I've also just discovered Note Trainer (the one by thoor) and I highly recommend both apps in combination. Both work superbly with my MIDI keyboard (requires $30 Lightning/USB camera adapter from Apple); my piano sight reading has gone from agonizingly slow to fluent in months. Both come with free iPhone versions. Differences: NT runs no timer, but only gives you one shot at hitting the right note(s); PNP does the opposite. NT is more structured and explanatory — it feels like more of a course; PNP keeps your high score like a video game, which I find wonderfully addictive (and has a guest setting too). NT teaches you the more complex chords when you're ready; PNP offers more personalization and now tests you on your scales. NT offers multiple-choice buttons too, for non-pianists; on the other hand PNP lets you slap the name of the notes on the onscreen keyboard if you choose. Between them these two apps have more than justified the price of my iPad and given me a full and effective education in piano-playing and sight reading. Thank you ShiningCode!

Midi option?. I like this program a lot. Simple, effective, and fun!!! Why isn't there an option for midi setup? It wold be great to have the ability to connect to a digital keyboard. Maybe, even have an audio ability where the program can recognize notes being played from another audio source.

Disappointed student?. This app is confusing. The "lessons" contain only random notes. It makes no musical sense, and the interface is also confusing, meaning that when you are to change hands, it is very difficult to know when you've gone from treble to bass. There ought to be a possible upgrade for actual music and a "double decker" keyboard layout, you know, left hand on top and right hand on the bottom. So far, not worth the money or time.

Useful, but ugly. I purchased several of these apps. This was by far the best in terms of functionality. It allows custom ranges which has helped me immensely in my progress by slowly increasing the number of notes being tested. My only complaint is that I find it aesthetically very ugly. Overall, I love this app and it was worth every penny.

Piano teacher loves it!. I have all the latest and greatest apps for my students. This one is really terrific. My students used it with my midi function on a clavinova and it works really well. I especially like that a note turns red if played wrong and the student cannot go ahead unless they play it correctly.

Great, but needs real musical scores. Playing random notes is fine, and this is a great app, but I for one would learn more if I was playing a real tune. I would know I played a right or wrong note by hearing it (I don't have perfect pitch, but I do know when I play a note that isn't part of a familiar tune). Take this app to the next level for a fifth star. But thanks for a great app!!

Finally!!!. It took me days of searching to finally find an iPad app that does exactly what I need. All I want is for an app to display the corresponding piano note when I play a key. Not that difficult of a concept, right?!? I've looked through countless apps (and even wasted money on a few) but surprisingly 99% of the available piano learning apps out there does not have this capability! Maybe I am just not using the right search terms but whatever the case, I am glad I finally found Note Goal Pro. $3 very well spent!!!

BY FAR the best app for learning to sight read. I've acquired more sight reading ability, and done so faster, with this app than with any other I've tried (and I've tried a lot). I use it with my Yamaha MIDI keyboard. I can set the range of notes I want to learn in the treble clef and/or in the bass clef. I began by selecting ABCDE in the treble clef with the middle finger on C. Then I did the same range and hand position in the bass clef. After becoming proficient at that, I broadened the range of notes to GABCDEF so that I only had to reach up or down one note from those home hand positions. This app made it SO easy to select the range of notes I needed to learn. If you have a MIDI capable keyboard call you music store, get the MIDI to USB cable you need and the USB adapter for your iPad and you're good to go. Everybody should learn piano this way.

Way too confusing.. I have been a pianist my whole life. Got this app for my son to help with note proficiency. Waste of three dollars. I have spent 15 minutes trying to figure out how it works and still cannot figure it out. There are way better free apps out there. Use those.

Excellent. I got my wife an iRig Keys keyboard for Christmas, and she really wanted something to use with it to learn to sight read. I tried a number of other apps before finding this one, and it's by far the best. Works perfectly with the keyboard too.

I can finally read music!. As an adult learning to play piano, this app has accelerated my note reading skills. Everything else I get from my teacher and practice. This is the perfect app for me.

Recommended for Beginners!. I'm not a beginner but I got this app for a friend and she just loves it! The user interface isn't complicated at all and it's just a breeze to use...it'd be greater with more features like both bass and treble clefs at the same time...

Great for beginners!. It's been many years since I have read music, so I'm in need of a quick refresher. This app is exactly what I needed. Being able to plug it directly into my piano via USB makes it that much better. If it could import sheet music and display bass and treble at the same time I would give it 5 stars.

Helped me a lot. This app has helped me so much. I use it every day as I am a beginner. I just learned how to display 4 notes at a time in the tutorial which speeded up my learning tremendously. Less frustrating and more reinforcement to learn small bites at a time.I have shown this app to my music teacher and she was amazed at what it does.

Best Piano App Ever!. Because of this app, I am beginning to learn piano again. I'm memorizing the notes and the place of them, and my mom says if I do well, she will sign me up for piano lessons! This app is a big help to me! Keep going with the apps!

Suggestion Here. This is a helpful and well done app for practice. I have had it for a long time. However - I WOULD LOVE it even more if there were some actual songs added inside the app in addition to playing random notes. I feel that it would add a little something and encourage practicing more often. How about some songs that help with interval recognition? Thanks for your attention. Best in class. This is by far and away the best sheet music trainer on the app store. I wish it would incorporate some rhythm/melody training, but those are in point of fact the only features I currently want that the app doesn't have. A must-buy if you want a fully functioning sheet music trainer.

Very good. It's awesome, and I like how it guides you on how to use it when you've installed it for the first time, and how it shows how long, and what notes to press, nice and really easy to use . It helps me to know how to play many poplular song. Just download and enjoy!

Good app!. This app, which I am using on my iPad, has dramatically increased the speed at which I am learning to sight read notes and hit the right notes on the piano. It allows one also to practice in different keys; bass and treble separately and to choose the range of notes to be studied. Excellent both for beginners and also for the experienced.

Terry D. This is a very good app! I am learning to recognize the notes on the scale quite quickly! I've had very little practice reading musical notation. This makes it very easy to understand the relationship of notes to keys on the piano. I've always been able to find middle c on a keyboard, but never knew where it lay on the staff? Now I know! Worth every penny!. What really makes this app great is the midi support through the usb camera connection kit. Using this, I am able to connect my iPad 1 to a digital piano so that my 9 year old daughter can practise her sight reading. I really appreciate the addition of chords to the practice options. Please keep the new features coming. Now what would be really great would be to develop this app or a new app to allow you to practise real songs, not just random notes. There are a few apps that do this, but none that provided midi support as well. Thanks!

EXCELLENT. HAve always wanted to learn piano but reading the notes just doesn't come naturally. Very nice but. Can you please disable both the splash screen and the selection of user before the piano appears. This is annoying and doesnt serve any purpose. Also I dont think you should have 2different version for iPad, and iPhone. Customers hate that.

Wow. This is better than ALL the other "piano training" apps. You'll learn how to read the scales in no time, and if you try hard enough, you can pretty much know all the flats and sharps in any key. I think you guys also should more chords. Like 7, min7, maj 7s in the chord training.

Simple and very useful.. This app has the basic features and should help people to recognize notesnon the stave. Nothing fancy, I could go on and sugest a bunch of new features but for the price you can't go wrong.

Excellent. This is such a great app for learning how to play the piano. Beautifully designed and very intuitive to use. I love the color-coded feature that shows you which key to press corresponding to the correct note.

Superb! Note training done the right way. As a long time keyboard player and wanting to teach my kids to play and read music I wanted an app they could have fun with and learn sheet music the right way and this app does that in spades. So many tutorials and learning tools focus on the note names when teaching sheet music which is fine but the single most important thing to learn is not the note name but which actual key it represents on the piano. That's what this app focuses on. The fact that it's a game with high scores makes it fun even for an old player like me. It improves all aspects of sight reading even for experienced players including key signatures. The kids love playing it and have improved tremendously in just a couple days. The only changes I would suggest is some way to track progress over time and the option to play chords although I can see the issue with chords on a virtual keyboard. Bottom line - if you want to improve your sight reading skills get this app. Wish I could give it ten stars.

Excellent tutor. Very very pleased with the free version which was so much better then the paid ones. Color coded, names of notes piano keyboard. Everthing. Now I am getting their pro version only 2.99 will see how it is. Love the ease of use. Get it and learn. So many visual cues also

Not bad but could use some more features. A couple of features would make it great: 1. Option to do both treble and bass staves at the same time 2. It should save your times as well as your "score". I'd rather see my times improve. Overall decent.

Quite good but.... I actually like this app very much; good layout and quite useful. But... Do you know what would make this app REALLY GREAT ? If it could HEAR the notes being played on a real piano !!! I am sure a gifted programmer such as yourself would have no problem implementing this for the ipad 2 using the internal mic. Simple and elegant.. Couldn't find a lot of research out there indicating which app would be suitable for a beginning piano student, age 6. After a few hours of use I can report that the student and her grown-up are much further ahead on their sight reading. It's helpful to toggle the options (color-coding, hints, letters on the keys etc) on and off until you find the right level of challenge for your learner.

Very awesome!. I picked it up when it was free, and I'm tellin ya I'd pay for this. I've gone from knowing nothing to knowing how to read 8 keys off the music sheet and almost properly hit them without assistance in only 3 hours of using the app. Really good training utility. If I could ask for a feature maybe some sheet music or actual music for people to try playing against as random kind of turns into annoying noise after a while (there is a mute).

Great application. Would be nice if we could play both keys (hands) in the same exercice. Great application in general. MIDI input connectivity works perfectly with usb camera adaptor and midi cable.

Option for Line/Space Notes Only?. I've played around with the app and it's great. However, when I teach reading, it's much easier to start off with line/space notes only for practice. It would be great if you could include a "line/space" note only option.

Great app. This has really helped me learn the notes...having trouble getting my sons to play it though. Perhaps a player1/player2 competition would work. It would also be nice to be able to toggle to type in note names -- so you can practice both. Thanks!

Fun to use. I’ve had this app for a few years now and I love it because of how easy it is to use. This might not be the usual intended usage, but I use the app as part of my musical workflow when I wake up from a dream with a tune in my head - I use it to figure out the notes, then I get onto my computer to put the notes into my DAW. It’s also fun to use as a way to play “piano” for others! The learning functionality of the app is also pretty useful if you’re a piano novice.

Useless without a midi keyboard. Waste of money if you don’t have a midi that can connect to an ipad. Cannot hear the notes of an acoustic piano.

Nice but too small. This is a nice app for practicing your skills but the notes are too small to read without straining. A feature to enlarge the clefs like the keyboard would be helpful.

Does not work with MIDI Piano. Tested my MIDI connection from my piano with MIDI Monitor and it works fine. Also works fine in Garage Band but fails to work with this app. I tried all the steps on their support site with no luck. Please fix!!!

Pointless.. This app doesn't teach anything. No intro on how to use the app or anything. If I could give it zero stars I would. Waste of time and deleted within 5 minutes of using it. Thanks for nothing.

Will develop bad habits.... I am disappointed with this app, mainly because I bought it. If it was free I wouldn't be complaining. But unfortunately, you cannot play the next note until you hit the correct note before it. That is BAD when sight reading. You are supposed to keep going, NOT stay on the same part trying to hit the correct note. I hope they fix this.

Sound Bug??. Urm... It was good until the sound stopped working. I tried to delete and redownload, but it still won't work. I even played around with the settings. Please fix, so I can give it 5 stars :(

Good app. Nicely done interactive user interface. Now, I can learn the notes on the go and having fun at the same time.

Nice idea but buggy. Using this to practice chords with multiple sharps never work properly. After hitting one or two chords correctly it acts very funky.

Piano app. This is fabulous for a raw beginner. So helpful to help memorize the notes and to learn the different keys. I love it! Thank you so much

Very nice!. Does exactly what it's supposed to do... I've been a musician all my life but I've never been able to read bass clef. This is inspiring me. And yes it is nice to have a high score to try and beat!

Impressive app.. Very creative in getting my kids to be attentive,the color coded keys And crisp piano sound. Now I'm sold!

Why?. I would like this more if the answers to the note names were not given....it seems to defeat the purpose. My piano students just look at the note name and don't try to figure out the note. With the key also marked for them, there is nothing to challenge them!
