Pretty good but an export function and multi iPad sync would make it the best!. Imagine if two or more people could wirelessly sync their iPads while running the iELECTRIBE app and/or other music making apps. You could have a whole band of iPads! It would also be very useful to be able to export patterns and performances as an audio file such as AAC, AIFF, WAV, MP3, Apple Lossless, etc. As is, it is a very cool app. Much cooler than the hardware Electribes. But the above mentioned enhancements would make it the ultimate and certainly make the iPad that much cooler. If i didn't already have one I would buy an iPad just for that capability.

Very nice, almost there.. First of all, I want to clear up the misconception that this is an exact replica of a hardware Electribe. It is definitely not. It is missing MANY features of the hardware Electribes, the latest models anyway: 3 available FX, 16 types of Synth Oscillators, Keyboard mode, note assignment, a larger sample library, Arpeggiator, and many more. I mention all of this not to bash the iElectribe, but only to save some the disappointment of discovering certain features are missing. With that out of the way I must say that this is truly a great app. It's fun, sounds really good, and is capable of producing some very satisfying end results. What would make it a 5 star app for me would be the ability to import samples, and allowing note/pitch assignment per step. Creating melodic lines via Motion Seq is not very easy if you're trying to reproduce something you're hearing in your head. I waited to buy the app until it went back on sale for $10, it's a must buy at that price. At $20....hmmm, now that I've owned it I'd say, sure, pull the trigger. :)

Sympathizer for the Synthesizer. My First Paid App had to be a colossal-mega wise epic purchase and this was IT! Let your musical talent shine with this App on your new iPad! I'm no expert to the synthesizer and all that jazz (or is it all that 'techno'?) but this app is so easy for it's basic layout with simple intuitive functions; it's just as if you were holding the actual instrument. This is so simple and yet the possibilities are so much more. This is coming from someone who has very little to almost no music background. Don't let the simplicity discourage the actual knowledgeable synth-veterans, there are plenty of options and tweaks which I'm sure will surprise even the advanced users. This can be for anyone who shows the slightest interest in music from; a kid who just wants to listen to beats while throwing in their 2 cents of a drum beat here and a little snare over there; to an expert creating their next live performance using this app!

Great! +You can export with Audacity!. This application is just wonderful! So addicting, and just like the original Electribe-R! Most bad reviews are because you cant export, but you can! Just not through iTunes. Get a regular 3.5mm aux cable and connect your iPad to the input on your computer, open up Audacity (free program-search online), make sure the input in audacity is set to your computer's input (not "mic"), start the beat on your iPad and hit record! Then export as mp3/WAV/Ogg/etc.! Now you have your very own beat on your computer! It's simple and works like a charm! Thanks Korg and Apple!

Needs better exporting. I wish this app could export loops to Dropbox and Audioshare. Though it does have Ableton Link so I can record in time loops into Ableton Live on my PC.

It's ok - but it could be a lot better! No Export mode!. Those who are hyping it - yes - it is looks good and on the surface it is put together good. But no export! So that makes the "No Song" mode even worse because you cannot stitch together sequences so at least you can play your songs to recording them into workstation via the headphone jack. That would not be the best quality but better than nothing. Yeah you can stand over it and push the buttons to re-create the song arrangements - sequence live. And do that for every song you want to playback. It seems they could easily add a song mode (at least 5 songs) if no exporting. Or have a midi option to allow midi files to be ported via wifi or the dock. I see why it has dropped off the top 20 list of music apps since I bought it. If you are new at digital music machines and recording - then this is a decent intro for you for the price. The real hardware cost a lot more.

Not up to date. Waste of cash right now. Great instrument locked behind a wall of neglect. Sounds like the Electribe, but not even IAA. New Korg stuff sounds worse and is less programmable (ie- boring) and the old stuff like this are still $30 on the app store, but completely lacking any features that would make it useful in a modern context. Shame. Don’t buy.

Incredible. Just DL'd this a few hours ago and I have no clue where the time went. I have practically no experience with step synths, yet it was extremely easy for me to load up some of the pre-made samples and very quickly understand how the process works. I'm shocked at how much this program does for what it costs (especially when there are just mixers out there going for easily double to 5x's the price of this one!). If you're even remotely interested in buying this app, DON'T HESITATE! There's a reason this thing is 95% 5 star ratings.

No AUv3, more of a toy or a play thing. Great sounds, but can’t open inside DAW still with AUv3. Purchases this app 4 years ago and still waiting for the support

far better than any others. I am not an expert of any kind when it comes to music creation/production, but I have a huge interest in it and have tried out nearly every music creation app for the ipad. This one is honestly the first one that I didn't delete after an hour wishing there were more features. It's honestly as close as you can get to the real Electribe hardware, very few differences (other than the whole touch screen aspect)

unusable for rock music. I downloaded this app thinking I could use it to make drum beats for indie rock songs- not at all the case. First problem is that the kick drum sounds like a deep bass, no resemblance to a normal kick drum you would hear in a drum kit. And that was kinda the theme for the rest of the drum sounds as well. Even after tinkering with all the knobs, still sounded like dance-music beats. So basically you get one default sound for each drum (kick, snare, high hat open/closed, ect.) and then you tweak those sounds using knobs. There isn't like a list of 10-20 snare drums you can choose from, just 1 base sound and then tweak with the knobs. Having said that, I think most people download this app with dance music in mind- so the 2 stars are really just because the app doesn't work for my needs, but it doesn't claim to work for rock music anyway…. Otherwise, interface is user friendly and fun to mess around with. In summary- fun app for dance/electro beats. No place in indie rock music.

yep, it's that good. I've been trying to hold off for a couple of weeks now, but I finally broke down and bought this app. Oh man, it's definitely 10 times better than I was hoping it would be. First off, sound quality is mind-blowing. I put on my big sony headphones and yeah.....awesome. Secondly, the controls are great. Totally easy to just jump in and start playing around. Thirdly, you can change the background to a custom image using photos from you iPad library. Wow. They even let you tweak the colors of the fonts. I could play with it for hours just visually. Anyway, I'm excited, and I can't believe an iPad can run something like this. It's as smooth as butter though. Crazy.

Can be a little glitchy. Overall I like this but there have been times it seems to cut off at the end of a bar, then I have to restart my iPad. It does sound great, and you can make some killer loops with it.

Professional level app at amateur price. I've written about this app before, and every time I give a review for a new version, I keep adding additional praise. Why? Korg keeps updating this already full-featured masterpiece. What is iElectribe? It's a great way to experiment with beats. You can come up with some impressive dance beats ranging in style from hip hop to techno, and yes, if you know what you're doing you can even program in a waltz! What else is it? A live performance tool, with easy to use controls that are made even easier if you hook up a compatible midi device to your iPad. As if that weren't enough, you can actually write a full song in the app. Granted, you won't be writing your next opera in this program, but you can actually come up with something approaching album-ready if you are so inclined. In short, the iElectribe app is platform for experimenting in music in ways that you may or may not have tried before. For the price, it's a steal. Yes, it lacks the ability to record or import your own samples, but that's really the only flaw I can think of.

Perfect. I couldn't be happier with this app. I own the ER-1 and have toyed around with my friend's ES-1. Was meaning to buy the newer EMX-1 but felt the price was a bit too high for me. I love that I can chose which drum sound & steps the effects are applied too. Thought the knobs would be tough to operate, but they aren't. The sounds are highly customizable and almost limitless, and the interface is super easy to use overall. In my opinion, it's well worth the price considering the hardware version goes for $400+ (they're not identical, but show me something like this app that lets you tweak pitch, waveforms, mod speed depth & form, and offers several different effects...)

IT'S SO EASY!!!!!!. I really love this app because it's so simple. Even if you have never had any experience in any kind of music or synth you will immediately catch on on how to do this. Oh and I can see why you say it "has been coveted by dance musicians for ten years and running" because it's the best dance beat maker on the app store! But I must say that after a while it does get a little old because it is so easy, so every update with new features is much appreciated.

Good for beat making; lacks key features of the original hardware. This app is great for beat making, especially compared to the other groove box apps out there. I was, however, slightly disappointed to find it lacked key features of the Korg Electribe hardware that it is meant to emulate. I love using the keyboard feature on my Electribe and find myself wishing I had it on the iElectribe. The lack of this feature means that you can only really make beats, since your only means for adjusting pitch is a knob. Still, it does a good job of approximating the beat production powers of the original... I just wish I could rock out on a keyboard...

Fantastic Even for Newbies. I've always been a musician, but have only recently gotten into electronic music. I bought this on a whim, and I have to say, I've been hugely impressed. This is definitely a ton of fun, but also extremely useful as an actual instrument. Definitely 5 stars! Oh, and everyone is lamenting a lack of song recording or export options, but under "settings" there is an option to record your music, which is saved as a ".wav" file. Not sure if that is what everyone is looking for but it is sufficient for my needs! Keep more Korg apps coming!

Not worth it. I thought this would be a software version of the EMX1 because they skinned it to look like it, even including the tubes. However it doesn’t have a fully functioning synth, Lacks the ability to sequence melody and also lacks the ability to input drums organically by playing them. It’s a cool idea but more of a cash grab by Korg than an actual software version of the machine. Get Grooverider GR16 instead. It’s a real groovebox.

No way to export audio. Itunes transfer doesn't exist anymore and you can't share ("bounce") to Soundcloud as stated in the description. IElectribe for iphone can send audio clips to anywhere but not this app for iPad. Korg, please update this iPad app. At this price, it is totally unacceptable to ignore the need to keep it updated.

Love It!. I own both an Electribe EM1 and ES1 and it's amazing how close they made this app to mimic the real thing. In some ways, I actually like this more than the physical product. All of the features are solid and easy to use. Tweaking sounds is both fun and intuitive, and even though the you're stuck with just a few stock sounds, you can tweak them to just about any sound you want. This program requires some patience and time if you're not familiar with the Electribe products; however for me, it was pretty easy just to dive on in. It's easy to use on the surface, but there is a lot going on here if you want to get technical. The only thing I would like to add to it is a sampler. That would put this app on a whole new level. IMO this app was more than I was hoping for, and Korg really put out a topnotch product.

Very neat.. Running on iOS 5.1.1, 1st gen iPad. The delays are gorgeous and very flexible. The reverb, rather lofi, even trashy, but in keeping with the Electribe standard. What fascinated me the most was the range and speed of the pitch modulation... I began to get an idea of what that Frequency Modulation was all about. If I were a professor of electronic music teaching a course on synths, this app would be required study for the class. As a musician, I've been able to get very nice genre samples from it, from chiptune, 8 bit, 80s industrial, hiphop, house, etc. The pattern bouncing is great; saves me the time of editing wavs, too. Background audio feature, also, very nice. Now, two effects or more, and a chromatic synth, closer to the ESX-1 than the ER-1, and it'd be heaven. One minor bug, where a four part track overloaded on input data and dropped volume as recorded for the second half, the capacitation perhaps recorded as a motion sequence command. Carried over in copies, so had to be deleted and the parts recreated, which was most troublesome given the wide range on the pitch modulation. But, minor quibble, easy workaround.

Very effective. The interface is friendly and the stock sounds are good. I haven’t begun delving into all functions yet, but so far - good.

the real thing. It's apps like this that make me glad I bought an iPad--it really shows off the power of this tiny computer and the competency of Korg's developers. I used to own a first-generation ER, an EA, and an ES. I wasn't sure what to expect from this app, but the accuracy of the model is amazing. This is an instrument, not a toy. The one thing that's missing is a means to sync the app with other devices, like a MIDI over IP implementation. For the price, I can't ask for anything more. This is going to be a great tool for working out ideas and experimental compositions. I hope to see more Korg hardware ports and/or original iPad synths in the future!

🔥🔥🔥🔥. this app is amazing

ielectribe once had sample selection.. What happened?. I know ielectribe had sample part selection before they released the gorillaz version.. What happened why did KORG do this? Does anyone out there still have it on an old device? Over the years KORG has shot me in the heart many times. First it was this, then the broken snare on the volca beats. The shotty build quality of the NanoKey Studio, Buggy and missing features in the electribe sampler. KORG has been evil in their business tactics.. I just don't believe KORG really cares anymore..

Love it, but too expensive. I love playing with this app. I love noodling with groovebox style machines and this is a very satisfying experience. The sounds are unique and usable in a dance/techno setting. The only problem is that it is a little bit too faithful of a recreation in my opinion. I would have liked to see the ability to bend pitches to exact notes for playing bass lines or melodies. The demos show that this is possible, but there isn't any easy way of doing it yourself. The price tag is a little steep too. After having it for about two months, I still love it, but don't feel it was worth the $20. That said, this is a worthwhile app and I admit even $20 is better than spending $200 on a used one.

Limited, but can be fun, for 50%-off. Pros: • Generally easy to work with, after a bit of a learning curve. Learning curve should be mostly nonexistent for owners of hardware Elektribe units. • Fun to tweak • Useful for creation of drum/noise loops. Cons: • Not a universal app. Korg is double-dipping with the iPad and iPhone versions of this software. Yes, the GUI on each device is ideally suited to that device, but there's no reason why they couldn't have done that in a universal app. • $20 is a bit much for what it does in comparison to what other apps can get you for the same outlay of cash. I bought it on 50%-off sale and would advise anyone else to do the same. • Lacks IAA transport controls. This is a problem on ALL Korg apps. • Poor MIDI support. • No easy data exchange/backup. • Fiddly controls. A problem on most Korg apps, especially Gadget.

Love it. Fun retro box for making beats for jamming and recording.

Still a classic, still very useful. iElectribe is an older drum machine app, but that doesn't mean you should ignore it. Frankly, some of teh reviews slamming it for not being useful with "rock music" are ridiculous. That's like trying to use a Phillips screwdriver to spread butter on toast. It's essentially a synth drum machine that is highly tweakable. It has the straightforward drum machine interface similar to an 808, but a modern effects section that is very accessible. The M.O. with all Korg apps is that they sound great, but aren't support quite as much as they should be. That rings true with iElectribe, but it still works and produces great sounds. Another knock I've seen on iElectribe is that it doesn't have a true "kick" or bass drum. This may be true to a degree - I haven't really gotten a percussive "click" to go along with my lower frequency sounds. But the multiple synth patterns can be programmed to sound very bass drum-like, and it's really just a sound of its own. Also, I don't understand why you would need/want iElectribe to simulate what can already be done with a dozen other drum machines or samplers. For more in-depth examples of drum synthesis and sound design, check out SeekBeats or Stroke Machine. But iElectribe runs very efficiently even on older devices, and is a great rhythm machine in its own right.

not quite the hardware. first of all, this is the ESX - 1 not the ER - 1. sounds great, i'm going to focus in my review on the ways that this software does not live up to the hardware that it emulates... NO SONG MODE, you can use the browser to select pattern on the fly, but cannot program pattern change data, thus you are not able to manipulate the sounds while the pattern changes at a predetermined time, because if you're in the browser window, you cant work the knobs... (c'mon, lets make an actually useable instrument, not a fun toy), NO touch strip (this was an aspect of the hardware that would have easily converted to the ipad), the tempo dosent hold when you switch patterns (another aspact of the hardware that made live jamming easier with the electribe series) - solve these issuses, and give us free upgrades to the next version, and i'll be happier with this app. the lack of midi can be gotten around with some camera connection thingy (another purchase), this is an iPad issue, not korg's fault... overall, sounds great but lacks some vital functionality

Amazing.. Absolutely amazing app. Korg really "gets it" and if you ever found yourself wondering what "it" is, just look at this beautifully crafted app. In addition to enabling the iPad to do what hundreds of dollars worth of music hardware will get you, Korg's iElectric is responsive, intuitive, inspirational and even pretty to look at. When you're not playing with this for hours on end at a bandmate's house, this app will have you plugging your iPad in the studio for late night sessions. iElectric is also structured for live performances. Korg, keep up the awesome effort. I will buy anything this good in a heartbeat, it's worth twice the price!

Cannot open bounced audio on iPad?!?. Is there anyway to open the exported loops on the iPad in which the loop was created on? I do not have access to a 2nd computer, is that the only way to use the bounced loops? Is there another way to find the files other then using iTunes on a secondary computer? If not, this app is super disappointing. Sounds are great, but unusable if I cannot open the files on the device in which it was created on.

Amazing. I honestly wasn't expecting a synth app for iPad would be any good, but I must say this is amazing! The sounds are nice and crisp and you can never repeat the same kind of beat :) it is s very good app and I would recommend it 100%. I also love the custom colors and backgrounds you can have, it allows you to express yourself very well on the interface. Many loops to work with and then all the possibilities that you have on top of that to change the tune! I would get this with no doubt :)

The first app I downloaded on my new iPad. I'd been wanting an electribe for years, and discovering this app was the event that eventually convinced me to buy an iPad at all. It was the first thing I downloaded, and I've been in love ever since. I'm very unexperienced with digital music production, and in fact had no idea how to run an electribe until I got this app. The leaning curve is easy, however, and it's more fun than I can believe. I promise, you won't regret this one. I mean, it's a $400 dollar piece of equipment for 10 bucks. What could be better? And to the person above who was so desperate to know how to make it play more than just the first step, I've got a solution for you. I couldn't figure it out either, and it was driving me crazy. It's the "length" slider under "settings." It's adjustable from one to four, which effects how many sets of steps are played. Hope that saves you the couple of hours of forum-hopping it took me to figure that one out! This is an awesome app, everyone. Worth far more than it costs (as years of high electribe demand has proven), and wonderfully made! You won't regret it, I promise!!!

Fun, but more of a toy. I have a hardware emx and this app is pretty similar in workflow. However, the app is mainly a drum machine. I can’t imagine syncing this to my hardware for serious. Changing patterns is a bit shady as it will switch on just about any beat. Perhaps there are better pattern change options, but I only use this for fun as a stress reliever. For that, it is perfect. But I would only buy it on sale.

Fantastic.. Korg, this app is an amazing thing. It's absolutely perfect for the iPad. It's as close to the real thing as you can get, and sou ds great. I also love being able to customize the background and paint, nice touch. Two things I desperately want to see (other than more Korg devices turned into apps) is export and full song sequencing. For now, setting up patterns to trigger is fine, but can't wait for the next step. Serious musicians and wannabe's: fork over the cash and buy this quality instrument.

Why didn’t I get this sooner?. I know a lot of people probably forgot about this app or pass right by it because it’s extremely old, it doesn’t have AUV3 capabilities, and it’s pretty limited in comparison to other groovebox apps like this. That may lead some to believe this is a relic or not necessary and thus not an app worth checking out. I completely disagree. Korg has their summer sale going on so for ten dollars I finally decided to give this a try and I am NOT disappointed. I’ve seen others refer to this as a toy but that is not at all accurate. I think people forget that sometimes having a very focused, very accessible limited tool is one of the best thing for creativity. I’m having so much fun programming this and coming up with absolutely whacked out sounds, deep sub heavy bass and trippy drum grooves. This is an app I’m going to spend a lot of time really mastering because the motion recording and fx sending seem to be very rewarding. People also have this weird imaginary block now where everything has to be AUV3, but this app has IAA, which means I can still open it in AUM, feed it into Koala Sampler, chop up my performances and get even crazier results. iOS music making is like having a digital modular environment with infinite possibilities to make some really unique stuff. Sorry for the long rant but I had to give this amazing rhythm box a five star review and ask myself here in 2023 why I waited so long to cop this.

Save up for ispark. I love Korg. Their products are great. Their synth apps rock. This app is a toy. It needs a serious revamp and better hardware implementation. It is not usable to a discerning musician.

Great drum machine but..... Sounds are awesome! But needs a note sequencer for the synth and song mode. Otherwise I would rate 5 stars.

Well at least this saves me the $500 I would have spend on the. I bought this app because I read I could cut and paste sounds into the kaossilator and that it does well so that's what the first two stars are. The next three stars are missing because where are some nice beats? I was a pro dj top 3 ranker in another country before and man the beats here are kindergarten. I managed to find 5 that I cut and paste out of the whole app. And buyers please beware that this is a drum kit machine not a full synthesizer so don't expect and synth leads or a single sexy saxophone etc. I'm skeptical about purchasing the other synth app that korg has in the App Store because it may be skimpier than the first two I bought and I've bought almost every music production app in the store. The korg kaossilator needs more loops: either please sell some or point us where to buy them. And this app ... Well I have a gift certificate that I was going to use to buy your hardware version but I'm going to spend it on something else.

Was a great contender...now falling behind.... It's pretty simple. You're getting a very good quality, expensive drum machine by a highly trusted company with a stellar rep, for pennies compared to it's real world counter part. But for some reason It just falls a little short of perfection. As others pointed out its missing some critical features. So I won't be a parrot and repeat those, and just say they are valid gripes. Today with all the new drum machines being released with increasingly powerful sound engines, quality audio, and loaded features, it's hard to tell anyone to buy this relatively expensive crum machine first. Yes, buy it, but there are actually some better options on iOS now that (gulp) beat iElectribe on many levels for far less money. Korg really needs to take a hard look at this, and make some improvements. The competitions heating up big time.

PLEASE FIX ABLETON LINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Having Ableton link bought this app back from the dead, now it's not working and this app is dead to me again, please fix it asap!!!!!!!!

C’mon Korg, Play Nice!. auV3 please! Bring your great apps into the modern world

🤩 🤯🎵Got some ooggy boogy for my KORG!. This is without a doubt an almost perfect Korg iOS system. So much stuffed into this system its like a new play land all the time. A new world opens a door to another room and then another dimension, then Bob Moog walks in and starts tuning in the parts that need shaken with those warm tubes and oscillators. Jam Hammer, and Alan Parson breezes through for a jam. Its like am old jammer mixed into one beat machine. And then I can play it as a synth. Thank you. 🙏🤧🙏

Swicthed Hardware for iPad. I recently sold my hardware Electribes (EA1, ER1, and ES1) just so I could afford to buy an iPad and get the iElectribe software. It offered me more mobile flexability and the power of a softsynth with the touch of hardware. I do not in any way regret my decision. Yes TECHNICALLY this only really replaced my hardware ER1, but other apps do a decent job of the rest and WHO KNOWS maybe KORG will release the EA, ES, or more likely the EM as an App. They just release the MS-20 and together with this App they are amazing. Instead of the song editor on the hardware which I rarely used, now I bounce my patterns and export them to my PC DAW where I do the finishing. I could however just bounce them right back into the iPad and finish on StudioHD or one of the other multitrack apps. GREAT job KORG. Please keep up the great work. If you make it I'll buy it at this rate.

Awesome. Works well with my korg fm volca and po-14

Doesn’t play well with other apps. All this app needs is proper IAA support with AUM and audiobus. The iPhone version works way better in terms of compatibility. The sound on this drum machine is phenomenal ,but while not supported it just languishes as a bit of a toy. This one app can be my main go to for a warm sounding drum machine but it just doesn’t play well with other apps.

Korg rocks. Today I DLed this app into my pad; I must say that this is awesome. it Is a very functional step sequencer with built in effects and a flexible sequencing system. I thought this app was extremely stable. It doesn't really feel like you are running software. It feels like you are using a real Korg instrument. I would highly recommend this product for anyone interested developing musical ideas and creating electro/hiphop. If you have little or no experience with step sequencing, it comes with plenty of material to get started with. Kinda like a launch pad for your musical inspiration. Otherwise it's easy to start from scratch. I was excited when I heard about this app, and I wasn't dissapointed.

it’s not so great. I feel korg can do better, this app makes me want to buy the real thing except the real thing is 40 times more expensive. no way will you get a tube sound of the original, the synthesis on this seems pretty limited, I think the new electribe app is much better, this is a nice kick drum maker and should be 5 dollars, korg did right with the original electribes but this like getting one slice of a full pizza😳where’s my other slices

So much fun and so easy to use. I have had it on my new ipad (a great buy also!) for this afternoon and it is addictive. Fun, easy to use, HUGE sound and really great features. The tone and FX edit, changing patterns on the fly, muting and unmuting of parts - all easy and visually intuitive. I've never seen anything so fast to understand and so deep in making dance music. Is it for jazz and classical people? Nope, but if you want some deep low down and dirty grooves that are fast to develop and fun to play with, this is your app. And the fact that so many variables are real time control (all recordable) make it organic too. Sorry for the gushing, this is just causing us so many smiles right now!!

Now with midi sync. Now with midi sync it is a completely awesome drum machine with ok presets and great creative possibilities. Totally worth the money.

korg. This app is great for dj's and music creators i found this app very easy to use and self explanitory

Capable of massive sounds. Some baffling omissions stop this from being a stellar app. No song mode; you can't edit sound banks; you can't upload your own samples; no background audio (why???); global effects only. Despite the negatives it works very well on the iPad, it's still a joy to use, very easy to learn and is capable of producing some epic noises.

Fantastic. Can't justify spending the money on the real thing. At my level of capability, this is all I need for buckets of entertainment. This is a benchmark application!

Wish there was a song function. I think this app is really cool but I would love to be able to add my own songs in or record and reuse the beats I create in this app and use them in a separate app to make an awesome dj experience if this could be done I would gladly change my rating to a 5 star :-) something to consider as an update I recon

Phatness Incarnate. I am totally blown away at how good this app is. For many years wanted an Electribe, but never had enough coin to blow on it back then. Now I have it on my iPad for the cost of a pint and a half of beer. Korg! You and your software engineers totally get iPad and what it means. Kudos to you all. The UX in this app is spot on. I only hope for a per voice swing control and a help manual that lives in device in future updates.

Korg iElectribe. Looking at the interface l'm sure it would be a nice app if it could be used on the 3gs also as hopefully they have support by the new o/s.If l get an ipad l'm sure l'll have some fun with it have'nt got to test it yet so cant report any bugs as yet, until they make it compatible with the 3gs and ipod touch.

It is an iPad app Rate it for that!. This app is fantastic and is the software version of a hardware device that used to cost several hundred dollars. Kudos to Korg. Are you listening Roland and Yamaha? If you want some gritty analogue beats, don't wait. Buy it now! This won't work on an iPhone.

No words.... You have to have this app if you even have just an inkling of who KORG is. Serious entertainment that gives as much as it takes.

WOW!!!. Unbelievable!!! I have had this app for most of this week and i think i'm still only scratching the surface with it's potential. There is so much to master with this. If you want an app for longitivtiy buy this one its well worth it. My mate just bought a Korg deck and screamed when he saw this app because its identical and $550 cheaper!!! ENJOY

Careful using it as externally synced instrument. Good VA drum machine/modules are very rare and iElectribe is a versatile good sounding one. Unfortunately though if you want to sync it or play it remotely through a daw the latency makes it unusable. Around 35 ms running on an ipad3 into Ableton Live. You can live with it if you record and nudge the audio. Other drum apps like DM1 can do sync ok but aren't as flexible sonically as this which does sound great.

So good live. Can not overstate the incredible live applications of this, particularly when used as a synthesizer ala Squarepusher.

Tutorials crash. Looks pretty, but the video tutorials keep crashing immediately they're started, which hardly makes for an easy learning experience.

Awesome!. This is easily the best music app on the iPad. I cannot believe how good this is and its soooo cheap! If you are into making beats this is a must.

Too limiting. The drum sounds were good, but I found it more limited than I thought it would be.

Awesome and highly recommended. Love it :D. Get this if you like tweaking and creating electro/glitch sounds

THIS IS ONLY FOR IPAD!. Just spent an hour trying to get this onto my iPhone! DOH! THIS IS ONLY FOR IPAD! Oh well :(

iPad version of something the iPad should render obsolete!. It's a well re-created version of some (recent) vintage hard gear. The attention to detail is great and Korg is to be commended for bringing this and the MS20 to iOs. That said, in each case, the device being modelled, while great hardware for its time, is also limited by virtue of its time. It's something odd for the iPad and its elegant touch interface to be used to emulate something that is so abstruse. 4 stars because the app execution is generally fantastic ... that said, given the ready availability of more contemporary, more robust, more user friendly alternatives - I doubt I'll find much use for this!

Lame and overpriced.. I'm sorry. I trusted the Korg brand, but this application really is worth very little. For almost US$20, you would expect something really powerful and user-friendly, which is not all the case of the Korg iElectribe app. Avoid wasting your money. There are certainly better apps around to create better patterns, and much cheaper! Branding is not all. Quality also counts...

Great! But wish it had more fx options. If you are at all familiar with step sequencers then you should be able to figure this out within a couple of hours. Very intuitive and excellent for quick beat making. It's surprisingly versatile but for some reason you can only run 1 effect at a time and so you can't independently route fx to different channels. That is kind of annoying considering that the iPad is more than capable of pulling this off and it would really add to the sound customization options. Still for what you get it is exceptional and for making beats and exporting to your computer, other apps, or soundcloud, etc.

It's RAD!. If you're at all into music or synths you MUST BUY THIS! Korg has a history of making great products and this thing is just the cutting edge!

Good. Good

Awesome!!!. My friend owns the real one which is ESX1SD and it sounds practically the same!!! Thumbs up Korg!!!!!!

Now working in iOS 8. Little bit late to the party, but at least it's working again.

overpriced and well not so much fun.. for some reason this software version of the popular line of korg electribes feels unfinished. i mean would it have been that difficult to add one voice for mono synth sounds ala ea1 style. i also really put off by having the filter put into the effects section instead of right on the unit. i mean the original electribes could not have used more power than the ipads cpu puts out so why is this not possible. same goes for no song mode why the hell not. dont get me wrong there are time were the electribe does tread into similar territory as its real world counterparts. there are some advantages with being able to look through the list of patterns. overall its kind of cool but leaves you feeling a bit let down. this is korg afterall. i would give this a pass and head over to electrify if i was to do it over again with hindsight. this is a very limited groove box when you get down to it allthough it does look great and sound decent its just missing a lot of what makes the hardware electribes so much fun.

great app but Link doesnt work.. I cannot link to Gadget, SyncKontrol or TriqTraq. The only thing I can get Link to work with is Gadget to SyncKontrol.

Chico. Would be nice if there were updates like a beat pad and more samples

Wow. Downright my fave drum machine for experimental techno, noisy drum n bass, groovy weirdness, and so on.

Beau -. - tiful.

Un outil de création. Les possibilités de personnalisation sont à la portée de main, bravo à Korg et au travail fait sur ce petit logiciel sympa

Back to the old skool. For all of you vintage sound buffs out there, this app faithfully reproduces the sounds of the original korg er-1 rhythm synth. (I know, i have the original) Meant to accompany beat oriented music, hundreds of patterns are made available in various genres of music, dub step dnb, house etc. Right away it is easy to start a jam and get some funky loops going, and with practice, using the record motion feature, the synth sounds can gain some life. However, the controls are slightly bulky, and due to the classic arrangement to visualize it the way the old drum machine was, it is somewhat harder to sequence because not all parts are visible at once. If I had any recommendations for ielectribe, i would request an extra page as a basic step sequencer, and support to allow for syncing with other midi programs through osc. Other than that, the team at korg has done a bang up job as usual, their fx and support have consistently been above par. For 19.99, (9.99 on sale temp right now) vs the 600$ the original unit was worth, it's money well spent. Thanks again Mad Skillz Matti

Not working. Not compatible with IOS 8 Still not compatible IOS 8.02

Unbreakable!. Reliable and great sounding drum machine app. After testing all of the meaningful drum machine apps in App Store this one is winner.

Great App. This is still one of my favorite iPad music apps and I've had it since day one. Very fun to use. Would LOVE to be able to load my own samples. The gorillas version came out loaded with their copyrighted samples which I was hoping could be switched for my own but that doesn't look like the case. It's really just an unusable gorillas promo since they own anything you make on it. How about improving this one for us unknown musicians instead of giving the gorillas their own new toy next time?

No keys?!. Why aren't the buttons on the bottom keys like on the actual electribes?! Would make this app so much more useful.

Fantastic app.. but please add Copy/paste!. Perfect app except for lack of Copy. Would love to be able to export this into other apps like Multitrack DAw without having to resort to my computer.

iOS 8?. Hurry up! A 20$ app shuld have been updated before ios8

Cool drum synth. Link integration makes this one basically indispensable. Lots of flexibility and pattern variation available, and the effects are ace.

Best copy/export. I love using this app to create my drum beats and then exporting them as wave files into my iPad Daw. I especially love that my patterns remain in the Electribe library for me to grab into my project anytime I need it. Love this app.

Great!. Much more editing capabilities than many of the sample based drum machine apps that are quite common, although the filter is strangely located in the EFX. Won't stop using my ESX anytime soon, but this is a welcome addition. Would love to see MIDI out so I could sequence longer patterns to my volcas ;)

Wonderful. An astounding app for iPad! The beatbox is great quality being digital

Awesome sound, easy to use. I bought iElectribe with high expectations and I'm very happy to say that it's met them with great success. This is one of the best instruments available on the app store. Huge amounts of customizations and limitless possibilities. The help file documentation and introduction video will have you running this thing with ease in under an hour. If I had to share any gripes about the app, the only thing I'd ask for improvement on would be the ability for multiple effects channels. I'd like to send different samples to different effects to maximize the potential of the iElectribe. Thanks for putting this app out Korg!

Great app. Thanks for the fixes, I can't wait to put this to use again.

Whomever implemented the Flutter.... ....please fix it so it is possible to go back and forth between patterns. As it is, it is virtually impossible to move the flutter point away and then restore the previous position. It is all chance and randomness. So in many ways useless, but does not have to be. Just create a proper grid pattern that lights up the spot that is activated. Or something similar. I'm sure the people at korg can figure out something better. Thank you! Otherwise great app.

Great APP!. This app is awesome! you have a limited amount of sound obv. but the controllability is amazing and its great on the go! Sync it up with the Ikaosscilator and you can make some interesting stuff. Plug it into your DAW to record or export as wav! awesome tool

Could be better. I had the hardware version of the Electribe-R years ago and loved it then. One thing I don't like, is that if you exit out of the program it stops plays playing. If it were well made you could play this along with other apps on the same iPad like you can do with Animoog and Beatmaker 2. I know it's PCM based, but the ability to import samples would be great too. Still fun to play with but not worth the $20 it's going for now.

Awesome App. This thing is awesome! The sounds are great and the intuitive user interface is easy to use and figure out. After 10 minutes I was annoying my brother with all the fun things it can do. I would love to see a few more custom skins from KORG, and maybe they'll make a KAOSS pad app like this soon! Definitely a must have for the iPad, especially for only $10! Get it while it's cheap! The hardware version costs well over $400!

Faith is real. I've been in a well known rock band ( A Olson Story ) and alway pay more then I want to. But the price is amazing and it's really just like having a real Korg sitting right in front of me. I think any one that does music this is your app!

Devices: Ipad1(launch month) now ipad4. TO KORG: I recall at guitar center they used to have 2 machines that sat next to each other, a silver&red one and a silver&blue one. Korg ER1 red and blue one I don't know name. Do you plan on releasing those or the sx esx on ipad ? The red is this korg electribe and the korg sx esx blue.

You've got to be kidding. This is one of those apps that people see and they say, "Dammit, now I have to get an iPad." Seriously, $10 for this thing is an absolute steal. This is a professional piece of gear that you could gig with. Trust on this.

Another one to join gadget? Maybe?still awesome !. This is another Korg iOS synth (like the poly six)that should be offered in" Gadget" which is such a great sequencer package I can't believe korg hasn't just incorporated ALL of their iOS synths into it ! MAYBE some day they'll see the coolness of some thing I've heard on the street for a while from fans of GADGET. A Christmas "Wish list?"the legacy collection on an iPad Air!peace Christo

Good job korg dev'is. As a iPad app developer and pro musician I have to say that i am deeply impressed by this work. The fact that you get this much of a experience for this little $ made me forgive you guys for the total fail out of my korg dtr 1000 rack tuner at our last performance and the fact that whatever we tried to fix it did not get it back y to life to this day. It's a very mysterious death it died. God bless korg and their iPad dev team. Peace and Freedom in science iWarlock

I Had a Calculator Watch With Better Sounds. This is the 4th beat making app I've purchased and the worst one I've purchased yet. It crashes more often than drunk drivers and the sounds are straight out of 1987. OVERRATED! You're better off buying a 4 track tape recorder and a broken Cassio keyboard from the 80s. Remember the song that the "Revenge of the Nerds" played on stage in that movie? Well that is 10 time tighter than the sounds you will get with this revived dinosaur seeing new life on an iPad.

Korg Does It Right!. Korg is so good at keeping with the times! They are always putting out great sounding synths that lead the industry. The MS 2000 / Micro Korg are two of my favorites, and I hope some of these other Korg products end up in the app store. If they do, count me in on every one. $9.99! That is a freakin' sweet deal! Thanks Korg.

Amazing but needs export. This is a truly faithful recreation of an Electribe. The sound is great, the fun factor is huge. But it's not going to be a true music creation tool until you can stitch together patterns in song mode and export the result via file share or wi-fi.

Downright Awesome. Never really used a real drum machine before and could never get the hang of most software drum machines, but this is amazing. Perfect implementation of multitouch for maximum tweak-ability and experimentation. Super fast and responsive and excellent sound. Korg: you have a whole library of music gadgets sitting around, We'd love more of them!

The real deal. This app really made me smile, Korg did an outstanding job on this one! If you like making music this app is for you and in my opinion the quality of this app and others similar will make the iPad shine. Highly recommended.

Very nice iPad implementation of this instrument. Not only does this look gorgeous on the iPad, they faithfully re-created the functionality of the Electribe! I'm impressed. If you've ever used the Electribe, then you'll instantly be familiar with how this app works. If not, learning is simple. Just hit play and start pushing buttons. You'll understand quickly how this works. I hope that Korg releases more great instruments like this for the iPad.

Good but needs pitch per step.. It's clear in many of the demo beats they had access to "pitch per step." Consequently it's impossible to make beats AS cool as the more musical demo beats... Still, it's a good app. Near perfect. But for $20 it should really offer that basic functionality...

Epic Win. How the heck Korg pulled this off at launch is beyond me, they must have been one of the companies that got demo units. Multitouch implementation is perfect, sound is awesome, app is stable, and performance seems too good to be true. The only problem I had was a split-second audio dropout when using the browser instead of the wheel to change patches, but I am sure that is trivial to fix. Music app devs take notice, Korg has set the bar unreachably high with this one.

Crucial update make this a no brained!. I love it when they listen to customers! Now I can design beats on the app and export to my DAW for further massaging!!! Would be great to see more releases. Thanks Korg.

Thank you Korg !. After reading a few of the reviews for this and some of the other competition I thought I should set the record straight - this is a fantastic drum machine, I have owned most of the electribes and this one has always got the most abuse from me - i have sampled it so much to have this on my iPad is delicious -- if only I could sync it with midi hardware -- great stuff

Love this thing!. I've played the drums for 30 years, but never played with a drum machine before. This is intuitive and easy to have tons of fun with. Easily worth the cheap app price! You'll be driving everyone, but yourself crazy in no time. Plus it's great to play with to kill time at the airport, etc. Highly recommended!

Pretty cool. Fairly short learning curve for the simple stuff. I had never really messed with a synth-type device, in the real world or in app form and I have a good time. Integration of either a keyboard or a way to adjust the sensitivity of the knobs would be awesome. $20 is stretching it pricewise possibly.

A little harder to learn but a great beatmaker. I have had this for a while but only recently, I started to really explore it. I'm surprised that there are lots of capabilities here to make endless electronic kits, and the Beat Flutter function really livens up the almost robotic rhythm. The quantity of examples really helps in getting to know how you can use this app. Kudos for adding Audiobus as it is easier now to integrate to other apps. I'll return with a better review, but for now, it is staying in my device.

If you like music, buy this. It's a ton of fun!. I really would recommend this to anyone who knows even the basics of synths. This app is a ton of fun. Its a great price, great UI and a great overall experience!

Great program, if only..... They permitted you to export the wav file recordings like all the otger audio programs on the ipad by opening up a temporary web server. Note that the 24 track DAW application permits one to load in wav files using a temporary web server option, this means I could, if korg permitted this capability, transfer the drum track into my multitrack recorder. Too bad Korg isn't paying attention and just using this application to show off their drum machine hardware.

Works for me. I grabbed it at the intro price and for what I paid it is a great app. It's got a particular way of beat making, not suited to everything or everyone. But it's super fun, sounds fantastic and can be surprisingly deep and varied if you spend some time on it. It's great to sample into my MPC or DAW. Sample import would be swell. And, yeah, if I paid full price I might be a little more underwhelmed.

Fantastic!. This app is perfect for the iPad. I wasn't an iPad believer, but I got one as a gift. This app has sold me on the iPad form factor. I've always wanted a beat machine, but never wanted to invest In the hardware. This is definitely worth the $9.99 intro price. Would have gladly paid the full price. I really hope Korg delivers more 5 star apps like this.

Cool App!. if you are a remix artist DJ or just love making awesome beats this is the best for your money. The only thing is you can't export the file. But I was able to record them to my laptop and then use them as loops. GET IT!!

This is good. I had this drum machine once and I must say this sounds just like it. The knobs and buttons work great. It is very responsive. The ability to export as audio files and midi sync would put this over the top. I wish the amp decay was longer , a lot longer. I basically run a stereo feed into my mixer to record the performances. The effects sound really good to. Nice work.

Hell Yes.. This is what I'm talking about. This is why I bought an iPad. This is a great app to start making music in seconds. The tool tips make it so you know what you're doing right from the beginning.

Meh.... Enjoyed iMS-20 so much I figured the negative commentary on this one had to be a bit off base... After all, how bad could something with a special Gorillas version be? But having already bought every other music app I ignored it until the $10 sale. I really wish I had bought a hamburger, a shake, and a pack of chewing gum instead. Don't really know what's wrong with it... Just didn't really find it engaging or fun to explore.

Its really dope. But i wish it would let me *pick samples* and save my work other than recording a wav file. i want to **pick up where i last left off** when i close the app and reopen, the nobs are all still customized where i left them.

RTFM. Anyone not amazed with this app is clearly not getting it. Read the manual before you dismiss this for "no song mode" or "limited patterns and sounds". Each pattern and instrument is deeply customizeable and you can get around the lack of song mode using pattern set. Actually this makes it more of an instrument and keeps you on your toes. :) NOT A TOY. I will be using this in the studio!

No iOS8 function...UPDATE...works now.. Immediate crash at start up. Waited a couple of weeks for an update...deleting this expensive waste of space. Dang it...I tried to not like Korg anymore, but their stupid apps sound so darn good and are incessantly fun to play. The woes of an audiophile synth addict.

Amazing. Using this app is the most fun I've ever had using an app. I've been playing with it non stop for hours since I got it. I'm already making hooks and creating sounds (not just sampling) heard in lots of the music I currently listen to. A+ app. Oh and exporting .wav files of my beats works well.

From a guy who loves synth..... ... This is awesome. I found it very easy to use with an intuitive interface and was able to get the hang of it without reading 1 word of the guide. As it stands, it's basically a toy you can noodle with, but it could be a bit more than that! Would love to see a way to export the sequences for possible use in music programs. Even as an .aif or mp3 would be better than nothing at all! But that's probably asking too much for a $10 version of a $500 "instrument".

App near perfect and professional with update. The app was great before, but having audio export and recording has made it PRO. Korg listened to its customers and has really knocked this out of the park!

iPad seller. This app sold me on the iPad. I own a few hardware synths but not the electribe. I do have a roland 505 and korg micro. Id love to see these next. Also midi support via the upcoming hardware adapter would be awesome! Anyways, this is a must buy for electronic music producers.

Just like the real thing!. I love this app! As an electronic musician, I appreciate music apps that feel like actual instruments. This is one such app. Totally blows Garage Band's drums out of the water in terms of versatility and customization. This is a real drum machine for real programmers.

Pretty good drum machine. Simple and easy to use. Has limited sounds but good value considering the price. One thing that would make this a five star app would be some kind of export option (like an aif file via wifi). Hopefully they can do that with an update.

One stars. Korg, your keyboards and hardware are the best, I use them all the time, but when it comes to ipad apps,, the quality is very low, specially on the ielectribe app,, how could korg put their name on such a low sound quality app, you guys need to step your game up on the apps so it could be used in the studio like other apps!!!!! I have bought all of your ipad apps cause of the name, but it really let me down,,...

Korg app. I would give this app 4 stars but for the price I cannot justify the issues. Firstly if you want to layer it will start to cut out sounds. Secondly if you want to heavily edit a synth you start to get some terrible background clicks. If you are looking for a portable version of your electribe I would say stay away. If it was something like $5 I would say go for it.

Awesome!. This thing sounds great and is a lot of fun to use. Makes great use of touch. You can really "play" the thing! I wish there were a link to some online docs. Some of the features aren't immediately obvious. (eg fx routing) Still, an awesome app for the price. I'm hoping I can dub the iPad audio out for recording, as theres no option to export the files digitally...

Awesome! Now, any chance we can get an iKAOSSILATOR?. This is really great- basically a wonderfully well functioning digital replication of the Electribe that can serve as a try-before-you-buy the real deal kind of thing or as a well functioning rhythm box that can be used live! Now that you guys have proven that you can outdo yourselves right out of the gate, any chance we can see the Kaossilator get the same treatment? Pretty please?

10 bucks!. This could possibly be the most value for your dollar that you will ever experience. I own a korg electribe mx and this is almost as good. In fact I would never have bothered getting my mx if this was around then. Although it doesn't have an arpeggiator ribbon like my mx (please add that in an update, korg), it is much easier to program.

Most excellent. I owned the hardware ER-1 and I can say that this is not only faithful in sound to the original, but the additional features are great! Great quality, great value. Korg has yet to disappoint me and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase any new apps they release.

This app rocks!. Korg please make more of these. I had a full set of them but sold them a long time ago. This is one app that would make me consider multiple iPads, especially with other synths such as this.

Amazing. Amazing app! I have never played around with a synthesizer before, and found this app really fun and intuitive to use. The only thing missing is a function to export your sequence as an mp3, so you can use it as a ringtone (or whatever). Hopefully in the next update!

A perfect emulation of the hardware.. This is the perfect example of a music app done right; it's a perfect recreation of the hardware at a fraction of the cost! All knobs and buttons react nicely to touch and the sound quality is really unbelievable. It doesn't try to be everything; it's an analog beatbox done perfectly right.

A most have for your recording studio. This app is amazing. Very easy to use. Patterns and sound quality are superb. A most have for home recording studios. Worth the money!!!!!

200$+ piece of hardware in 10$ app. What more do I need to say than that? I've already lined this in to Logic Studio and used it on songs. A true professional piece of music gear. Beautiful. My favorite app.

Great sound, good fun, a little limited. This is a perfect example of an iPad app's potential to displace dedicated hardware. It's a replica of a hardware synth that was much more expensive, required its own power supply, and had limited storage. With this app version, you can always have it with you and never worry about messes of cables. Of course, you lose the ability to sync to other MIDI devices. The app itself does exactly what you'd expect. The interface is responsive and twisting the knobs feels natural and precise.

Sweet!. Way better than having to shell out $500 for the actual hardware you can get this at a steal and it can produce the same sound. The only complaint I have is wanting to record in 48k. Defiantly worth it but if you want a total all in one package get the ims-20.
