Don't get it. I usually don't complain about free apps, but they should pay me for downloading this!! It's that bad! It only offers one projection, you can't zoom in far enough to see small things, and you can't zoom out very far either. Plus the words get blurry when you Zoom in. Only basic citys and natural water features. Doesn't even show mountains or small islands. All it's good for is looking up where major countries are. (but even then just use the maps app that comes built in) seriously terrible waste of time DO NOT GET THIS

False information. Including territories of Independent countries to other bigger countries who want to occupy it.

Poorly defined maps. What good is this map, if you are looking at countries not cities. Even some countries are to small to make an appearance on this map app. This is a great map if you are not sure where North America is located to Europe.

Scams you. I got this for my son so he could learn the world but when it said pro version I got it for him once I reloaded my app it asked me to buy it again but I already spent my money SCAM😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡

Unusable scam app. I never write bad reviews. This app is unusable and basically locks you out of any reasonable functionality behind a paywall in addition to a series of on-screen ads. There is nothing useful, utilitarian, or good at all with this app. Not even worth a click, seriously.

Great Basic Resource. I use this all the time for basic reference- it's so nice to quickly pull this up while listening to the news or when I just need a refresher about where a particular country is located. Certainly quicker than leafing through an atlas. Sure, not tons of details, but for a free app gives you a decent amount of info. I've been looking for something like this for awhile, and was glad to see it pop up- thanks!

Too little detail in the “detailed map”. Insufficient detail and zoom capability. I paid the $1.99 for the enhanced version which is supposed to have greater zoom capabilities but I couldn’t see much difference. Give me an old fashioned paper atlas.

A good app if you just want a political world map. I was looking for a simple world map app a while back and couldn't find one for free. Now I see this in the top free apps in this category and it gets poor reviews. I try it and it's fast and exactly what I wanted. Just the world map when I want to see where a country is in the world and what its neighbors are. I'm not sure what other reviewers were expecting but this has satisfied my expectations. And c'mon - how many world maps include the divisions of the individual US states? Some people...

There's wrong name.. Actually, i love this application but i really disappointed.. that's why i gave u 4 stars ..:) The problem is ... Sea name:( I saw the sea name that is sea of japan. It is wrong. That sea name is originally East-Sea. Plz check and change.. I insist that name because that is imperialistic things(Korea was colonized by Japan). And that sea closed to South-Korea and Russia and Japan and North-korea. And important thing is it's not alright to use specific country's name. For example, Uk and Denmark and German used their own sea name. However, they come to an agreement to use 'North-Sea'. And i saw ur app wrote North-Sea. How weird... Moreover, there's a history of sea. Actually East sea had used for 2000yeas, Sea of japan had used for only 400 years... And there's more evidence. Anyways, my conclusion is plz change the name of sea. Thank u for reading and sorry for poor writing..cuz i'm not English speaker, i know there's a lot of wrong sentence..:( plz have a mercy :) Thank u.

Bad app. My son has a map test so I wanted to download a app that would help him practice. But when I downloaded this app it was not showing the things my son needed to know Sorry but I do not prefer this app

Out of date. No zoom. I frequently find some of the capitals are incorrect. You can only zoom in so far, so small especially island nations are never seen.

No thanks. This is not what I consider to be a "high quality map" as the developer states. It isn't even a decent "very basic" map. Believe it or not there aren't even any borders between states in the United States!!! It supposedly has three maps that you can easily switch to, but It sure doesn't switch easily on my iTouch. I have to tap and pinch and poke and tap some more, and FINALLY it opens up to give me two more maps, neither of them any better whatsoever than the first map. Very disappointing app that isn't worth the price (free) nor is it worth taking up space on my device. Is there a way to give minus 5 stars... LOL?

Now non-functioning. While I liked it initially, it now only responds with ‘item not found’ to any search. Unhelpful. Looking for a better product.

Great app. Love it works great

Great world map with lots of detail. I really like this map that has states included with major and some miner towns with roads between them. You con also search all of the country capitals and names. Note that you can scroll the list if names but be careful the list doesn’t return to the top so you can miss something if you scroll too far down. There is also a time zone map which is useful but doesn’t show the state boundaries which is unfortunate since they move a lot depending on the state.

Palestine not on the map!. Palestine, officially recognized by the United Nations is not on this map. And the scaling of the map is a little off.

Annoying pop up. The app is OK except for the permanent ad at the bottom to download Voyager. When I close it, I get a Google ad that I can’t get rid of. Really annoying! Will probably delete because of this.

Useless. Looking for something that provided international boundaries which this does and also zoom down to street level which this doesn’t. Can’t even find my home town in Ohio.

Upgrade isn’t really worth it. I just paid $1.95 for the upgraded version and it is still the same - no more details that I can find. Can’t find many major cities in the USA or Europe. It’s just a graphic.

Not bad. Pretty good except: 1) It should include and label US state capitals 2) Swaziland is now Eswatini 3) Crimea is now part of Russia 4) Yangon is no longer the capital of Myanmar

World in the Palm of your Hand!. I like this app. Very helpful for building geographical literacy! I’d also suggest buying it as part of the bundle which includes a USA by state map and a by country facts database. The detailed world map is a Mercator (cylindrical) projection which of course becomes increasingly horizontally distorted as you leave the equator. The other world maps look to be of a Robinson or similar (pseudo cylindrical) projection which is a bit better. Unlike Google Earth, these world maps are entirely usable off line. Sweet! A suggestion I’d have is to make the various world maps available in a wider selection of projection types. Perhaps Boggs Eumorphic? What would really be cool is to add a true 3D globe format where you could spin the globe and zoom in on a region. This would really help with gaining a better sense of landmass and spacial relationships between regions. Thanks for designing this app!!!

Africa is wrong. I loved this app until I realized that there are some things that are just wrong in Africa. The capital of Côte d’Ivoire is in the wrong place and they omitted some of the largest cities on the continent (Lagos, Abidjan).

Taiwan is a Country. All of the countries names are labeled in red. Taiwan is the only country that is labeled black meaning the map creators/app makers are bootlickers to China. Taiwan is a country no matter what China says you cowards.

Not worth the $$. Downloaded the free, then decided to try the full version. Not much of a difference between the two. Detail view is lacking. There are better apps out there…. Pass this one by.

World Map (pay version): Needs revisions. I downloaded the free version, then decided to purchase the more comprehensive paid version which includes political maps and time zones. Today after reading about an Ivory Coast terrorist incident, I looked up the city mentioned in the article and could not find it! I had to check Wikipedia to determine that the Ivory Coast is next to Liberia. The problem with this map is not all cities can be found when looking them up in the search bar. When you type in a city name, you get all kinds of references to cities in every different country of the same or similar name. This is quite confusing, and typing a specific city name in the search bar should take you to the specific country in which the city is located. My opinion is this app needs work.

Incorrect Maps. The fact that this app still has Swaziland and Burma tell you all you need to know. Very outdated information. Stay away.

Lack of detail. Serious lack of detail…this is no National Geographic map…very basic…

Low detail. Appears to be a paper map with little detail. However it is one of very few atlases available offline. Unfortunately there is no good app available in this category.

Meh. Don’t bother. You can’t zoom in for more details, and no educational value since numerous countries use abbreviations instead of spelling out. Imagine that old folded up road map in your grandpa’s glove compartment…but for the whole planet

Prudes. The ad isn't that bad. I see more nudity on tv. The ap is ok but I'd like to zoom in on the smaller countries.

Wrong cities in Australia. Small towns and cities are listed leaving out larger ones. For example Townsville, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Emerald and Bundaberg are missing in favour of towns like Yeppoon and Bernaraby.

Disappointing 3 – Bonn. Yes, I am also an Aussie, but is it too much to ask for the detailed map to show Bonn, capital of former West Germany & capital of reunited Germany until 1999. To this day it is designated a Federal City because a substantial part of the Federal Government apparatus of Germany is located there. I down you other people contributing to this valuable franchise a star because these maps have been around forever, in a number of different apps, all of which cost money. Yet the maps could be so much better and have never been reworked. I am also atoning for any previous 5 star ratings I may have given in the past (for the concept). Bonn was also the birthplace of a certain Ludvig van Beethoven 250 years ago. This may be news to the Arts Editor of (cough, sorry it's the bushfire smoke) one of Australia's leading newspapers who believes Beethoven was Austrian. Interest in the distance between Bonn and Vienna led me here today. It's even further than I had thought! :-)

Not just kids! Every age Discusted!. I agree the adds are not normal, its not just kids its all types of ages from old people who havnt seen the explicit nature of a lady laying naked on the screen with one slip or touch ur stuffed. It opens up should be more measure in place to stop this although the app is free its still a app on itunes for free doesnt mean anyone should be exposed to that before they buy it! If this is what u get for free why would u pay for it when all it does is turn u away from purchasing any app riddled with adds. That turns u off from the start. A free apps so u can trial the real thing its ment to make u want to buy it, were as theres adds just make u delete free app and puts u off from showing anyone else or even bothing to purchasing it!

Pretty good.. To all the parents complaining about the adverts being pornographic, maybe you should buy your children a real map, like mine did when I was young... Just saying. Otherwise this is a useful app, especially for a frequent traveler like me.

Geographical knowledge improved. Didn't see any suspect adds when I opened it. I wanted to improve my African and South American geography. This has helped. Easy.

Disappointing. Place names in map of Australia are too random and bear no relation to size or importance. Important centres are omitted and places of no importance are shown. Presume same fir other countries.

2010 World Map Free. Unfortunately when you download the "Free APP", you will be prompted to purchase the upgraded version. If you do that you will no longer need the "Free APP". I would strongly recommend that the "Upgrade" be offered with the "Free Version". The benenfits of the "Upgrade" are very minor and not worth the price.

Social Studies. I never knew that when I downloaded this app I would use it as much as I do. I think every one could use a little studies in there life. Great App!!!

Update country names please. It’s a good app. Four different map types and lots of cities on the detailed map. But there’s one problem. It hasn’t been updated to keep up with last year’s name changed. Swaziland is now called Eswatini. Please change it to earn that app name of World Map 2019.

Nothing. You get one bigger icon image, that's about it. It keeps on poping up a window asking you to buy the full version during startup.

Excellent Map. Very detailed world map showing a massive collection of cities, rivers, and water bodies and their respective names with a search function for cities and countries. Of geopolitical note, it lists Taiwan and mainland China as the same country, “China”, rather than ROC or PRC, and shows the unrecognized states of Transnistria, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh, Northern Cyprus, Palestine (West Bank and Gaza), Somaliland, and Western Sahara as greyed up sections with no names attached (with the exception of the latter which says “Western Sahara (Occupied by Morocco)”). Two mistakes I noticed: the capital of Greenland uses its old Danish name of Godthab when it should probably show the current, Greenlandic name of Nuuk, and Tanzania’s capital is listed as Dar-es-Salaam (the largest city) when the capital is actually Dodoma.

Not up to par!. Image resolution could be better when zoomed in. Some details are innaccruate. As a free app it is at kindergarden level and paying for an upgrade is not worth it. Google map will give you better resolution and info for free!

Gets the job done but is minimalistic.... The title sums up my feelings on this one... Good for fact checking, gets the job done, but features are minimalistic. But that is to be expected with a free app. So no big complaints here. However I use this in conjunction with more robust map apps.

Small countries excluded. While I absolutely love this app I have some complaints. The app doesn’t have smaller countries such as Monaco and Vatican City as well as other small countries in other places such as the Caribbean or Pacific Ocean. This app is really great overall and I highly recommend you check it out.

I'm cheap. Leave me alone.. I got the free version: it's what I needed (a world map) and what I expected (doesn't zoom in much, decent quality graphics). However, I wish it wouldn't ask me if I wanted to buy the real thing EVERY time I open it.

It's so educational for the kids. 3/9/12. It's awesome. I can see the whole world, literally. I once had an other app that was terrible!!! This is the total opposite! As of March 9, 2012 Only some corrections I want to point out: 1.Taiwan is not a part of china, china only CLAIMS it is part of china. 2. It is not sea of japan, it is the East sea. Just something I wanted to point out

Helpful. I love how this map shows just the right number of cities. The time zone map is good for big travel. But I think they make have made this app to sell us car insurance.

World map. As a teacher and an avid world traveler, I use the World Map app frequently. It's just what I need – very user-friendly. When I'm talking to a friend or while working, and a geography question comes up, I just open the app and get the answer I need. Don't change a thing!

World Map. This is a great app. Easy to read & navigate. Like to have a quick reference while watching the news or other programs that involve geography. Puts world events in a different context when U are familiar with the part of the world where events are happening. i.e.- the Middle East, Europe, even the US for people unfamiliar with our geography.

Horrible Application. Ok I know this is a free application but this is just rediculous! First it says there are 3 different maps: political ( that it has) physical and time zone. It only had one map. They lied and these are not high quality pics. Truthfully ur better off buyifng a good map from staples or something because this app is crape minus the e.

Good for a start/Taiwan. Great beginner's map. About the Taiwan question. Sorry to the other reviews, but officially Taiwan is not an independent country. While China claims Taiwan, Taiwan also claims to be the only true and legitimate government for all of China and will not declare independence. If they ever would claim independence, China has threatened war. Also, currently Taiwan is not recognized by the UN or the Olympic Committee as an independent nation.

Ridiculous. I had to download this app twice just to give it one star. I assume I didn't have it long enough the first time for it to count. The first screen I open and already they want to sell me the upgrade. Then under that is a free app of the day. Some silly cartoon. Are you that hard up for money. couldn't even use the thing once without interruption. then after saying no to the upgrade it crashed three times. back to the drawing board boys. I will finish this so I can delete the app again.

This is ok. I like this app a lot. Only thing is, is that it would be nice if you could click on the country and get information about the countries. But for a free app, this isn't bad by no means. And good job with keeping Palestine out. Palestine isn't a real country. It is a fake country to kill Jews. Go Israel!

Great Educational tool. Excellent app! Americans are notoriously lacking in geographical knowledge & this app helps us strengthen those skills. Locates countries, helps to see their relative size & where they are in relation to other countries.

Perfect Tool. I have been searching for "learning geography," and "countries," only to find inferior and expensive alternatives. This is exactly what I was looking for - had to search "Atlas."

Very basic map but it's a quick easy reference. It gives you a color coded world map and a time zone map. The reviewers from South Korea need to get over their hissy fit. 95% of the world calls in the Sea of Japan. Only South Korea calls it the "East Sea".

Ok, for free, but very limited. This app comes with two maps: political & time zone. But the political map is NOT Mercator projection, it's orthographic! IOW like a flat globe. Plus the maps don't change to landscape if you turn the phone, they're portrait only. Fixing just these two things would make it much better!

Vehicle for Ads. The world map itself is fine. I was just looking for simple reference map and this works, (though it is slow to load). The problem I have is the advertising that you have to endure while viewing the map, (perhaps the advertising portion of the app is what makes it slow to load). Maybe the paid version eliminates the annoying advertising, but this app is too basic to be worth paying for.

Too many ads.... The world map is nice enough for a 4 or 5 color map. The countries and capitols are accurate. What I don't like is that the app has too many ads. It also is constantly trying to get you to pay for an upgrade. I'll probably pull it off when I upgrade to ios6. My iphone is not an advertising platform for them.

BEST MAP FOR QUICK REFERENCE. I use this map every day! We travel a lot and this is a great way to check out the geography of the countries we visit. Thank you for a great map.

No thanks. This is not what I consider to be a "high quality map" as the developer states. It isn't even a decent "very basic" map. Believe it or not there aren't even any borders between states in the United States!!! It supposedly has three maps that you can easily switch to, but It sure doesn't switch easily on my iTouch. I have to tap and pinch and poke and tap some more, and FINALLY it opens up to give me two more maps, neither of them any better whatsoever than the first map. Very disappointing app that isn't worth the price (free) nor is it worth taking up space on my device. Is there a way to give minus 5 stars... LOL?

It's a map. Can't expect more than a map, it shows countries, their capitals and other significant cities. Perfect for reviewing what you've long since forgotten in geography.

Useful. I find this map very convenient when I need a quick reference to answer questions from my friends.

Really at least I just wanted to show my friend where jamaica is. Horrible. It cuts off part of greenland Russia and south America and there is no south or north pole ( antarctica .). Not sea of japan. Errors on map Really bad. Really. Do not buy this unless you want to know where an island or country is.

Almost. Really close, simple to use and read. But... You should be able to click on a country and get a more detailed map

Nothing special. Ok app. So this map is a good reference. There arent any major mistakes. Theres nothing in antarctica so theres no reason to include it in a political map. Maybe in the physical map. However there was a recent change in russia's time zones that reduced the number of time zones from 11 to 9 which should be updated as soon as possible.

Don't get it. I usually don't complain about free apps, but they should pay me for downloading this!! It's that bad! It only offers one projection, you can't zoom in far enough to see small things, and you can't zoom out very far either. Plus the words get blurry when you Zoom in. Only basic citys and natural water features. Doesn't even show mountains or small islands. All it's good for is looking up where major countries are. (but even then just use the maps app that comes built in) seriously terrible waste of time DO NOT GET THIS

Gets the job done... BUT!. This app has been trouble free and does have "hi-res" maps. However those maps do NOT scale well nor zoom well. On highest level of zoom in the text is almost illegibly fuzzy. It misses lots of important information, like cities of global significance that aren't capitols. If all you need is to find countries, this will get the job done, barely.

Works for me. Is an easy offline reference to view the world. May have some detail problems, but fine overall.

New User. This is a good app if you just want basic geography to help kids with home work or just to jar your memory. Don't let super geeks run you,it's ok to be a beginner !

One question: where is Antarctica?!. Ok. I don't like to complain about a free app. I'm not ungrateful. Missing Zaire is one thing. Misnaming the Sea of Japan is one thing. But missing a CONTINENT?! How do you forget a continent?! I can BARELY see a northern peninsula or Antarctica, but that's it. I personally think the rest of the app is fine except for this MAJOR flaw.

Nice pictures - not real maps. If it doesn't contain coordinates and identify the coordinate reference system (map projection, geodetic datum, and units of measure) then it's not a map - it's just a picture. Limited usefulness, and the free version seems to contain all of the images that the paid version has.

It's great. I liked it this app alot. It clearly defines the borders and is nice and bright. It is quick and easy. I thought i would have to pay for something like this. It is a great tool for when I forgot where a country is located. Ps: the only thing that would make it better is if It would show population size and land size Of the countries.

Very Helpful Program. As a Geography buff I find this a very helpful reference tool when reading news accounts to place the action.

Had the Free, chose to pay, Regret it. Zero/5 Stars I'd downloaded the free version and later decided, once I had the money, to help support the company by purchasing the full version. From that day forward it Never worked again. It hard crashed as soon as I'd try to open it. It wasn't even a mediocre app to begin with, but now I'd not even give it a single Star. I've never given that low a rating for anything, let alone for apps, but this is the lowest of the low.

Good app. Been using this app for a year now and like it for all my international travel. Let's me know what I'm close to and it's good to use to show others where I've been.

Good basic world map. This app is fine for giving you a real basic world map. Small scale and not a lot marked, but it does the job when I just want to look at the world for getting a sense of where things are or for glancing across a map for brainstorming locations.

Okk...😬. Well... I was expecting a bit more. Theres a few problems, and if they were fixed, the app would be great: 1) the ads are kinda annoying 2) you can't zoom in far enough on each country 3) there should be more cities But until those things are fixed, I'm just gonna use Google Maps😃

Too busy. I found World Map 2020 much too busy. It is hard to discern the country names, in red, immersed in a sea of city names in black. The same problem exists with US state names, in a light brown, swamped by city names, in black. When launched with an iPad in landscape orientation, the app opens in portrait mode zoomed in to a few provinces in Canada. It has to be cajoled into portrait mode and then manually zoomed out before one can navigate. An earlier version, which cannot be used on the latest iOS versions, was superior.

Nice app. All it needs is a zoom out feature,otherwise you either have to know where to look or search by scrolling within the window.
