Very Nice App. I really like having the advanced search options, but I still can't get access to many paid full-texts that I should have institutional access to. Sometimes if I am on the campus wifi, some sites will recognize my institution, but many others will not. Anyway, this app makes searching quick and easy, and the last update was a significant improvement. I hope the developers keep it up. There is a database selection screen which leads me to believe they are planning to add more in addition to pubmed which would be nice, but might require a name change for the app. Update version 2.0: Great update! This app is now right up there with Papers, and much cheaper. Very nice job.

Is this it?. How is this any better than using safari and building your own iPhone or iPad reference library with iBooks or other PDF organizers. One can not even navigate through authors after selecting a publication which by the is possible if you simply use good old safari. Simply felt responsible after seeing all the 5 star comments. I do not recommend. -al

Awesome app. Perfect app for the busy researcher. I'm an md/phd grad student currently and I've used this app to look up and email links to articles while I'm away from home to my pi or just to read up on a potential avenue for my work. Great resource for the price. At first i Didn't think I'd use it as much as I do now. I know, I have no life. But I'm a grad student afterall

Excellent app, safari or zotero integration?. I use Zotero and would love to see the ability to save references to Zotero using the API or alternatively the ability open the reference in safari. Currently I have to copy the link manually.

Powerful and easy to use. This seems to be the best dedicated app for PubMed. It has a powerful search syntax and clearly shows which articles are FullText or FullText Free (assuming PubMed hasn't mislabeled them). You can either save articles to the built-in library or save out the pdfs to the pdf reader of your choice. I can't think of any way this app could be improved!

Terrible App. This doesn't give you access to PubMed as advertised. It seems to only pull up articles for which you will have to pay in order to get the full text. Nothin like accessing free PubMed with my laptop. I unistalled the app 10 minutes after I began using it. Wasted money.

MD Ret. Good for me and like depth of reports but limited for me. Give it a 4.

Mobile vs Desktop?. Just paid $1.99 for an app that - yes - is mobile friendly, and well organized for the convenience of searching with my phone, but to just get the same results Google provides me on my normal internet browser... I got a list full of articles that only included abstracts, and maybe 5% of them included full text. What am I paying for exactly? I understand that articles are expensive to view at full, but what am I benefiting from with this app, if it does nothing but give me the same results Google does, and doesn’t allow any privileges past viewing an abstract? This app should be free, and paying for articles should be separate, but both? There wasn’t even a detailed disclosure as to what this app had to offer. People want to know what they’re going to get if they’re paying money. $1.99 isn’t much, but I feel like I just got scammed into paying money for an app that doesn’t nothing different for me than what I’m capable of doing without it.

Works again with EZProxy. Been using this program for years and loved it until my institution "upgraded" their ezproxy login and new layers of redirect pages defeated pubmed on tap. The new version works better than ever and has great integration with other apps!

EASE of use!. Smooth, clean interface. Powerful, smooth action. This is one of those handy tools that simply act the way they should.

Functional but not slick. Kind of hard to find my search history and there is no date of when I last ran the search.

Nice they added an app version, but needs a bit more.. I love the web version and really like they came out with the app, but it feels like its still in beta testing and needs more features. For example, you can't filter by reviews, or filter at all for that matter. Would be nice if they added the filter and advanced search options to the app version.

Very Good Little App!. This is a very good app for accessing Pub Med. I found it both powerful and easy to use. It needs a little tweaking, though. It would be an excellent app if (1) you could sort the library by author, date, publication type etc. A multi-tiered sort function would be ideal; and (2) if you could create more than one library within the app itself or at least do so using Endnote. However, these are minor deficiencies that do not detract from the overall value of the app.

Excellent access to PubMed. I barely use PubMed in a browser on my computer anymore. This is a very thoughtful and well-designed app. In terms of browsing and reading abstracts it cannot be best - and makes it very easy to do a very quick searches & saving of relevant papers that can be explored more in-depth later. I highly recommend it.

Don't buy this... Don't waste your money on this stupid app.. All it does is link you to the actually pubmed website which you can just go on safari or Google chrome and do the same thing..

Fantastic Helper App!. I use this app both on my iPhone and 3G iPad. The app works exactly as advertised and also interfaces very well with BookEnds, my bibliography management software. I used the ezProxy setting for my university and am able to access articles for all of the journals to which my university subscribes. Thank you for providing a great app! Thanks to both ReferencesOnTap and SonnySoftware (BookEnds) for providing excellent step-by-step instructions allowing me to start using these two tools quickly and with a minimal learning curve!

Great. Great resource

Nice but not perfect. Please consider adding (1) the option of folders for easy paper organization, and (2) the option of saving search history for future retrieval.

Update killed the app. Great app for years until latest update. When I open the app it immediately closes. Have tried re-installs and reboots but nothing works.

Does not work. Does not search pubmed. Please refund. Thank you. Edit 2021-5-10: Per developer’s response pubmed search does now work to a degree. However, this app is missing some of the most useful features from pubmed including similar articles, cited by, mesh terms, etc. And, while I can tag an article with a color, it doesn’t seem that I can actually save articles with any sort of useful tags / labels. I could be missing something, but I don’t see the point of this app, given that its search capabilities are inferior to the pubmed website and filing capabilities are limited.

Useless - Can’t select best match. I downloaded this app after reading some good reviews about it. However, when I opened it, I found that I couldn’t set it to sort the articles in PubMed based on the best match, only as “recently added“ or “publication date”. Probably because of that, the search was horrible at finding a match for my query. Completely useless for me at this point. Very disappointed.

Developer Out of Business?. This used to be a great app. NCBI has changed their URL and the app no longer connects to PubMed. Efforts to find the developer failed. If you are considering buying this app, think twice.

Impressive. Great layout and functionality, as if I'm working straight from the usual PubMed website. One suggestion for an update would be to include the ability to highlight parts of abstract text among those abstracts saved in one's library for later reference. Overall, a great application.

Works well. Nice and convenient way to grab references when there is no computer available. Highly recommended. I have two requests. It would be great to have my ezproxy info stored via a cookie or something so I do have to keep on re-entering it. And sometimes, downloaded PDFs won't store.
