What is gangsa app? "Gangsa" is a musical insturment which is used in Balinese Gamelan, an Indonesian traditional performing art. This application has very beautiful sounds which were sampled from a real instrument. Just by tapping the screen, you can easily enjoy a musical performance and the atmosphere of Gamelan. You can also try using advanced play techniques such as muting and sliding.
Features:
- Play a long beautiful sound by tapping a metal bar.
- Play a striking sound by tapping a wooden sidebar, although it is not usually used.
- Play successive sounds by sliding your finder over metal bars and wooden bars.
- Mute a playing sound by pressing the bottom end of a metal bar.
- Play a muted sound by tapping while holding down the bottom end of a metal bar.
- Hold playing a muted sound by pressing the top end of a metal bar.
- Each metal bar and side wood have two sound samples to provide a natural sound.
- All sound sources are optimized for an iPhone/iPod touch speaker.
- Play stereo sound by using headphones or stereo speakers.
- Images and animation are used to provide visual feedback while playing.
- Play together with other iPod music.
- A "Visual Effects" switch, a "Auto Mute" switch and a "Master Volume" slider.

Great. Great job. Love this app Can u make a good Tibetan singing bowl app or those hanging chimes with the nice deep sound. Not the high pitched chime. Reverb is imporant. I think that's what. It's called. U did that with this app very well as the sound continues even after u hit it. Like that lingering sound as it's good for meditating

Yay for Gamelan Apps. Great app! Striking and dampening the keys works like a charm! This app is what it is... you get one gangsa to play with... Sound quality is good. What this program leaves me wanting ..... is first of all: different tunings .... this app could be GREATLY enhanced with the different tunings of the various sets; more gamelan instruments to choose from would also be a plus.... but this app is great to play with and to get the sound in ones ears! TY for providing this for gamelan enthusiast!
Finally, gamelan for the iPhone!. I have been waiting for some time for this app to appear in the iTunes store after seeing it in action on YouTube. This is a real sampled 5-key gangsa instrument from a Balinese gamelan, and it's a lot of fun to play! I have played gamelan for nearly a decade, and this app plays pretty much like the real thing. Great concept and implementation, with beautiful sounds. Keep up the great work, Masayuki! Selamat!
