Collins Eng-Sp dictionary new version. They have ruined this app which was by far the best one on the market. This new version is a mess as they try to lump everything together. And it is slower to use. How do I get the original version back?

Fake Collins dictionary, many missing words. This is not the “real” Collins dictionary and it lacks many common words.

Great app, with one little issue. This is easily the best Spanish dictionary app. A lot of care was put into making the interface clean and intuitive. The only issue is that it's clumsy to close definitions. You open a definition by tapping on the word, but to close you have to click on a little "arrows" button on the other side of the screen. The definitions also stay open forever, so after awhile a bunch of definitions are open. I'd expect them to be closed automatically at some point, like when you open the app.

Useful. This app is an excellent tool for anyone learning Spanish. It is easy to look up words and get definitions and conjugations which are extremely important. Another thing I really like is that you do not need to be connected to the internet for full access to this app. This has been very helpful for me when I have wanted to study my "Español" when traveling.

Version 1.4.1 is Super. This is one of the best dictionaries around. It isn't perfect (I stump it occasionally), but on the whole it is pretty comprehensive. And I really like the iPad interface. John I purchased an earlier version that worked well. Unfortunately, as soon as I upgraded to 1.2.5, I started having problems: 1. Locks up. From time to time it just stops responding. No matter what I do (including rebooting the iPhone)... 2. Interface frequently doesn't update the status bar that tells which language you are translating from and to... so even though the dictionary IS switching from Spanish to English or vice versa, the status bar does not update. Overall, I like the app. I love having an excellent dictionary in my pocket. The interface takes some getting used to, but once you figure it out, it works (prior versions). I'm looking forward to getting a repaired version. Right now it is unusable. My iPhone is an original with OS version 3.1.2 P.S. I really like the new way that the status bar changes from "English - Spanish" to "Spanish - English". The animated change is obvious whereas the earlier version was less noticeable, and I sometimes flip-flopped a couple of times thinking I had missed the switch button (which is too small).

Decent dictionary but needs more features for the money and interface is lacking. The dictionary is excellent and provides real-world examples. However, the content of the dictionary is about the only thing good I can say about this product. For $25, it should include a flash card mode and some Spanish learning games - the portable electronic Franklin translators are only a bit more and include all this! When a definition is looked up, you can choose to follow the links to a definition for a new word, a conjugation, or look it up in Google. Great, but this is only for the target language. Did it not occur to you that one might want to look up a word or a phrase from the source language too? This is a no-brainer. The interface overall is clumsy, there is no landscape mode, when you switch from Dictionary to Conjugate or vice versa it does not automatically carry the word. For $25?!?!? Come on people. Hopefully ultralingua will take this feedback and provide some free updates for those of us who threw down the cash.

Best iPhone dictionary by far. Includes conjugations in all tenses.

no audio pronunciation ????. I paid almost $25 and no audio pronunciation, that is very bad, So what this app. has different from the other that make it too expensive??ahhh is just because is from Ultralingua :-(

What a disappointment. After all this time, and after all the Ultralinga apps have been updated to iPad and iPhone 4.0 we final get an update to the app and still it doesn't support either. Come on Collins, you are supposed to be the standard, I purchased the most expensive iPhone app ever and you can't keep the app current. Shame on you!

Ugliest icon EVER ruins it. Dictionary is OK but can't bear to use it -- For some dang reason they took away the old color and identifying flag and put a stupid semi-ornate, baroque, curlicue “A” on the orange icon. WHAT??? What does that mean??? And my German dictionary — the same nonsense! Different color icon but still with the curlycue A! What planet must they be on to think that that helps anybody identify the language of the dictionary? They all look the same except for a background color! Fire the dope the designed this. It’s 10 steps backwards.

Awesome. I used to use a translator by Franklin it was expensive bulky and not easy to use. This app is the best, it's worth every dime.

Great app but crashes all the time. Please please fix whatever is bugging this app. I love the interface and would recommend it but the fact that it crashes when you really need it, makes using it a bit infuriating. Could you please fix these bugs and offer an update?

Very Cool. I purchased a lot of translators and this is one of the very best I have ever seen!

Fabulous app. I like this Spanish English app more on the iPad than the iPhone because it shows two columns side-by-side for the definitions and the verb declensions. This app will speak whatever word you press so that you get the correct pronunciation. When it defines it give several examples of how to use the word, it translates the verb declensions which is very helpful when you get to the pretérito pluscuamperfecto. It's expensive but it's worth it.

Thank You. Your excellent application to the Spanish Language has been most helpful and for me, intellectually engaging. En dos semanas nosotros felicitamo La Navidad

Pretty Darn Good. But please please please make a favorites or flashcard function for those of us trying to actually learn the language. Would be so easy to do and would be so helpful. Gracias!

Like the looks a lot, but worry about accuracy. Not too reassuring...conjugation for freir has freido instead of frito...how many other errors lurking?

Very disappointing.. Not nearly as useful as WordMagic’s dictionary. Can’t look up phrases. And this is an abridged version of the Harper Collins dictionary. Had I known how limited in usefulness this dictionary was I would never have purchased it.

Hard to fault this excellent reference app. I’m no linguist. If there are mistakes or inadequacies in this app, I doubt I’d see them. All I know is that when I have a question about a Spanish word, this app has the answer. Conjugations, common usage, examples...there’s nothing more I could ask for.

Look elsewhere. If you're looking for a travel translator, this is not the program you're looking for. The verb conjugator has some utility, but certainly doesn't justify the purchase price.

Where is the entry for "irse"?. I would have given this iPhone app 5 stars, as it is what the previous reviewer states. It is easy to use, seems to be comprehensive in its coverage and the conjugation feature is very useful for someone learning a language. This app is so much handier than flipping through pages of a dictionary. My only complaint so far is that a search for the word "irse" does not come up with anything. Although the word and definition can be found under "ir", way down the page, if one wasn't familiar with the word, it can't be found in the dictionary using the search function. Odd, because when you type in the word, it shows up in the "suggestion" menu, but when you click on the word, it does not take you to a definition. Clearly, an error. There might be other errors as well. This is just the first I've run accross.

Great app. Crashes with the new iPad air. Needs an update

Very slick. It took a bit of playing to discover and understand the app ... now I love it. It has everything I need for my language class and more. Nice job guys!

overpriced. It works fine but it's a bit pricey for a dictionary. It should be around $10.

best 25 bucks i ever spent. i love this thing, it is the most useful app on my ipod touch. well worth the money due to all of it´s functions and features. also, you don´t have be connected to the internet which is a serious plus.

previous reviewer mistaken. This dictionary is excellent. Not only is casa there (with 9 entries defining it) but so are many other words. I am having a problem with the conjugation function, but that may just be my phone. The previous reviewer who said that even basic words could not be found was not using the dictionary very well.

Great app!. This is a great app to have when you need to look up a word and you don't have Internet. Even when you do have Internet it's just better to use this app. The only problem that should be delt with is when you are looking up a bunch of words when you go back to search for a new word it keeps the previous word and doesn't erase everything and that gets annoying when looking up several words at a time

An even better app now. I have used this dictionary regularly, but this latest version is a terrific improvement on all iOS devices. The ability to go quickly to the conjugations makes a big difference. The new formatting makes it much more readable, and I like the ability to save favorites. Keep up the good work.

Great app. I use it a lot. App has a clean, snappy interface, plenty of words, useful features (like typing in numbers to see how they're spelled), and offers context beyond simple definitions. Great resource, happy with the purchase. Keep it up!

Great app, love how links directly to verb conjugations. Great app, love how links directly to verb conjugations

Very happy with this product. Tried Spanish Anywhere first, but quickly ran into words that weren't included in that dictionary. This one is comprehensive - I haven't stumped it yet. I like the history feature to review words you've previously looked up, but a bookmark feature would be better as it gives the user more control. An integrated flashcard feature for memorizing the words you've looked up would be hugely useful and would really set this apart from paper dictionaries.

Thank You!. The features included in this app are so much better than the SlovoEd Classic Spanish-English dictionary I have on my Palm TX. The completeness of sentence examples is amazing! I also really appreciate the feature that allows you to toggle between verb conjugation and definition-quick and easy access. The only function I'd like to see changed is the info button location for Ultralingual/collins (top/left of screen); I often hit this button when trying to add a word in the search cell; it's a bit annoying. I'm slowly finding apps that will set me free from my Palm Pilot. With this app, I have one less need!!!

Review:. The Collins Spanish translator has been the most elegant and most useful that I have yet to find. Not only does it include comprehensive dictionaries in both Spanish and English, but it includes conjugations of almost all the verbs and “frases” or sentences that include the verbs. I am grateful that. translator didn’t forget to include idiomatic expressions. I could say much more such as it is embarrassingly inexpensive. Almost all of those idioms are present within the context of a sentence or a short paragraph. Thank you for this broad and deep surprise. I will enroll in a college class next Spring with much more optimism and confidence because of the Collins. With gratitude.

Annoying Habit. I purchased this app a number of years ago, and agree the dictionary is very good; HOWEVER, it has a most annoying quirk -- If cellular data is disabled for the app, and you are not connected to the internet, a popup appears every time the app is opened advising you that "Cellular Data is disabled .....". Ok, that isn't much of an issue in my home country, I will just enable it, but when I am in another country where I have to pay like $10 grand per byte of data ( slight exaggeration, but you get my point) I am not disposed to enable any app for cellular data, especially for an app that has no apparent need to get or send data. Fix that and I will upgrade the rating based on the quality of your app, not on the warts.

A tremendous disappointment. If I had the time, I would make a list of all the words this dictionary doesn't include. It's practically useless. Don't buy it! I wouldn't download it again even if it were free.

Not Collins and lacking basic words. This is not the Collins dictionary. It’s a different company with no affiliation with Collins. They use the name to get subscriptions. There are also very few words, and some translations are inaccurate.

Very incomplete. It’s very frustrating when almost every word I need to check is not there. Astonishingly incomplete. Most of the time I need to google the word. What’s the use of it?

One feature would make this a six (if that were possible). To the creators of the app: Great product, I love it. Wish I had had this in high school and college. One suggested improvement: sometimes I'll enter a word that isn't in the dictionary. It would be great, and I think doable, if you had a feature wherein I could "Report an unlisted word" - if I've looked up a word and it doesn't appear, then I click on the "Report" button and I would get a form where I could also (optionally) add the source and perhaps also the surrounding text where the word was used. Maybe also a suggested definition? Then you would know what words are the priority to add to the dictionary. If you have the definition in your database, but just not listed in the app, you could even email me back the definition automatically. Second improvement suggestion: allow searching by all the verb forms. E.g., if I put in "pongo" the dictionary does not give me "poner". You have all the data in the app in the verb section - just make it searchable in the definition section.

Incredibly buggy. Incredibly buggy. It regularly loses functionality. You may click to switch from an english search to a spanish search but nothing appears to happen. The system may have changed what is being searched but the display doesn't update. I have also had the conjugation section lock on one verb for the past tense. I look up any verb and it goes to present tense fine but when I select past tense it reverts to a verb from an hour ago. Would not stop until I exited and re-entered the program. I use it a lot but I have to quit and reopen several times a day due to bugs. The bottom line: Way to pricy for how poorly it functions.

New Version. I will say that the Collins dictionary is one of the best. I have always been impressed by the breadth of the dictionary including usage examples and idiomatic expressions. The conjugator is top-notch and the number translator is very handy. I am completely unimpressed with the new version. In the old version the dictionary, conjugator, and number translator were in separate "mini apps". This kept the overall app neatly organized. The dictionary was under the dictionary icon, the conjugator was under the conjugator icon, etc. It was very easy to switch from one to the other by simply touching a word to get pop-up choices such as "cut, "paste", "dictionary", "conjugation", or by presseing the icons at the bottom of the screen. In the new version all three mini apps have been merged into one big app and what a mess it is!! The first problem I noticed is the new version is slow. It takes time to load and the app is slow to respond when the buttons are touched. The second problem I noticed is that every single entry is contained in one huge list. The same word can appear multiple times depending on whether it is a conjugation or a translation, and this makes the list seem very disorganized and almost unwielding. Had I know what the new version was like I never would have updated. I want the old version back.

The best Spanish dictionary app you could buy!. This is honestly the best Spanish-English dictionary app you could buy! Worth every penny and then some. An excellent, very well thought out user interface makes using this app easy and facilitates learning. Tap on any word to go to it’s definition. Tap and hold on any word to speak it’s pronunciation. Tap on any verb to go to it’s conjugation. Multiple usage examples. Easy to use verb conjugation tables. I highly recommend this app.

Collins Spanish-English Dictionary. The new version that i just updated with keeps crashing very quickly. It has always worked well in the past.

Very nice. Looks very good so far. The ability to search for a conjugated verb and find the matching infinitive is great (especially for irregular verbs). If it automatically took you to the correct tense page when you tapped on the entry, it would be even better!

Collins es-en. Very valuable tool. I use it often.

Why is it called "Pro?". Unfortunately, this dictionary really cannot be called "Pro." One would think that "Pro" means "for the non-novice" or "for those seeking additional definitions for less common words." This dictionary, however, is geared toward beginning students and should market itself as such. For example, upon download, I immediately attempted to find some words I had recently come across -- to no avail. "Mordiente" -- no entry found. "Verdín" -- no entry found. While these are not words that basic students need to know, a "Pro" dictionary should be exactly that -- more advanced, with a wider range of vocabulary and an eye toward words a student of Spanish will encounter as his or her studies progress.

Unbelievably useful, especially the conjugations!. First, it contains clear examples of pretty much every expression, figure of speech, and the dozens of different uses for words with multiple meanings. Second, it has every conjugation of every tense of every verb... I don't know what I'd do without that. The conjugations are much easier to access in the iPad version, but with a couple extra taps you can get there on the phone as well. Also, it is truly bi-directional: The entries are equally as detailed whether going from English to Spanish or Spanish to English.

Works great!. I use this app almost daily for translation. The easy access to conjugations helps me tremendously. The extensive list of examples of how the words are used is very useful.

Robust and Feature Packed. The design is simple, intuitive, and uncluttered. Definitions are thoroughly explained with plenty of examples, regional usage, and some idiomatic explanations. The ability to click a word in a definition, then define or conjugate it is very useful. After finding one definition, I often find myself browsing more just for fun. The same tool allows for searching on Google, but I've found that the content is this application is very rich and more than sufficient. The Recent Word List can double as a "Favorites List," since single entries can be deleted. The Verb Conjugation tool is extremely useful, and actually a completely separate reference book. I hesitate to recommend the following as an improvement, because this is a translation dictionary, and such references are usually separate books: A more integral cross-referencing of idiomatic expressions might be nice. Originally, I balked at the price of this application. But the iPad/iPhone integration and its proven usefulness and reliability have made me come to think of it as a bargain instead!

update removes compatibility. The newest update makes this app incompatible with my device. I realize this is probably a move that allows you to offer more features, or at least update more easily. But me? I'm basically out $20. ---------- [text of previous review] Another reviewer suggested an in-app form for reporting missing words. This would be great! Please implement this! Reflexive verbs should be listed as their own, individual entries (see the irse complaints) perhaps in addition to being listed under their non-reflexive forms. I know that I will always look for reflexive verbs as individual entries, but when I was a less experienced student I would have looked up the non-reflexive verb, and I imagine many self-taught speakers would, too. This dictionary seems better geared toward formally educated students than self-taught students or travelers. To make this more friendly toward the latter groups, pronunciation guides would go a long way.

Was a good resource.... But now it crashes ALL THE TIME. Used to crash after a long while, now crashes immediately just about very other search. This version is nigh unusable. And still no updates to fix the bugs...

Great app!. Great app, definitely worth the money for the quality.

Not good.. I purchased a Collins dictionary which I used a lot and found the format excellent . I now have this poor substitute, please give me back what I paid for.

Great!. I was a little bit sceptical about the price, but I've been using this app now for a while and it does everything I wanted it to do. It hasn't crashed yet and it's easy to use, just like the conventional physical copy but it fits in your pocket. Overall it works well and I've been impressed with it. I would like to see a better phrase translater, grammatical rules or word origins possibly in the next update to add that extra factor and earn it 5 stars. Thnx guys!

Great app, but.... This app is really helpful for any person learning Spanish, from any level, but there is no phonetic pronunciation guides as there are with the French and Italian versions of this app.

Charged twice for the same program. Dear Sirs/Madams I had to reinstall my iTunes in my computer and iPad and the program Collins Pro Spanish-English Translation Dictionary, did not appear in my Applications. I had purchase this program several months ago. I download it again thinking that it would be for free and now you are charging me again for it. Could you please rectify this error as I had already paid for it? With anticipated thanks, Estela Valverde

New version a disaster.. Since upgrading to the new version of this app I've been very unhappy. It's slow if it starts up at all and I bought the previous version in French, Spanish and German because the interface was beautiful and user friendly and the vocabulary broad. I feel I have been robbed of my net 60 dollars since the upgrade was made. It doesn't even start up on my iphone 4.

Hard to find conjugations. When looking up a conjugated verb, it just gives the whole big list of conjugations - it should just find it and tell you which conjugation it is. Why make it so hard?

A great resource.. The app has substance in its extensive translations. Functionality is fair. As mentioned by others it should keep the search bar active and ready for entry, rather than having to go back. When reading in another language reducing taps reduces the tedium of having to look up word after word. As well, A simple 'enter' could just open the identical dictionary word. Love the word history feature.

Love it!. So full and detailed! Every time I have to look into some word in depth I open this one. Includes all the phrasal verbs, expressions etc. in great detail with examples. Highly recommended!

Absoloutely the best. Always fixed at the bottom of my iPad screen and my iPhone, among the first bookmarks on my computer; quick switches back and forth to copy, paste, check a meaning make this a useful tool and great friend. So good, I sometimes stop while checking a meaning to read those of other adjacent words. Enriching!

BandaLover. There are pros and cons to the last update: Pros: 1. Choice of font and size 2. When conjugating verbs the translation is in smaller type below the conjugation 3. You can now set the default that you want verb conjugations to open in, i.e. Presente de indicativo, Futuro simple, Pretérito perfecto simple, etc. 4. You can click on " > " and scroll down to view all verb tenses 5. You can type numbers directly into the search tool and they will be translated 6. You can star entries you look up frequently Cons: 1. The "History" feature used to have the words in alphabetical order, making it easy to find a word you recently looked up. The words are no longer in order, making them more tricky to find quickly 2. Since the update the app is constantly freezing Overall it has been useful app, that I'm glad I purchased.

Very good app. A very helpful app, simple and easy to use.

Steadily deteriorating with updates. I have used the iPhone app of this dictionary for several years. Each version tends to lose functionality and ease-of-use. In addition it is odd that there are numerous verbs which are conjugated but they have no translation! It is a bit hard to understand why a dictionary would not give you the meaning of a word!

El mas usado!. I'm in Spain right now and this app has been the most used and allowed me so much depth of experience. Not only does it translate unknown words, but uses many in various phrases to give a much deeper depth of meaning (e.g. Look up "asi" to see how many different uses of the word there are). It also does a great job of showing which uses tend to be used more in Latin America or Spain. Yes, the most expensive app I've bought and no doubt worth it :)

Please make iPad universal app. I'd like to use this on my iPad as well but it doesn't scale up very nicely. Your Ultralingua cheaper versions are already iPad updated but not the Collins Pro.

Casi perfecto. This app is amazing! The only thing that would make it better is if the search bar remained at the top of all screens. When you open it, it takes you back to the last word you were on which is great. However, it's really annoying that you then have to press 'back' to get to search again - it should just always be at the top. Otherwise, perfecto!

Perfecto!. I must say this dictionary is the one I was looking for. Perfect for any Spanish learners. I was hesitated because of the slightly high price, however, I am very satisfied now and I do not think that I waste any penny to this application. Everyone who is doubting to the value of the application must click to buy it now. You won't regret.

How to beat a Franklin Dictionary at a fraction of the cost. I have had several versions of the Franklin Electronic dictionaries and trust me I believe this beats them hands down at a fraction of the cost. Do yourself a favour and buy this app it's worth every penny and you won't regret it.

Worth the $30. It is $30 but absolutely worth it. It works fast, you can switch between the languages with a little button at the top and it's easy to use. I also hate the idea of paying $30 for an app (I bought the Portuguese and French ones too), but it'll be worth it to brush up on my languages on the go, or to translate things I don't quite know the meaning of. You can try the other cheaper apps, but I just went straight to the brand I trust the best, rather than wasting money on lower-end dictionaries. I hate wasting money.

Fantastic. This is a fantastic bilingual dictionary for the avid Spanish learner, beginner or advanced. The ease of navigation, comprehensive verb conjugation, and very informative and thorough usage examples are extremely helpful. Worth it.

Give me back the old version please!!. Generally, when apps are updated, they are improved. With this update, you have removed a lot of the content of the previous version which I used regularly. This app was not inexpensive and if I'd had any idea you we're going to eliminate at least half of the sentence examples and the Spanish equivalents for Spanish words, I would never have purchased it. Please either give me back the old version or return my money.

Beautiful new app. I like it very much.. Nice look and font

Excelente!. I bought this app before heading down to Mexico for a holiday. I'd taken Spanish courses in high school 20 years ago so I needed something to fill in the gaps in my memory, and this app did the job. Not only does it give you the definintions both ways but it gives lots of examples of usage. On top of this, it conjugates pretty much any verb in any tense.

Wicked. The app is great but i would like to see more slang and regional words and expressions (i visit cuba a lot and i cant find many words)

Absolutely amazing!. I just spent 2 weeks taking Spanish lessons in Oaxaca Mexico and this app was a life saver. Everyone else in class had dictionaries and I was always the first one with the answer. Our teacher was very envious and was always amazed at the depth of the information supplied with a translation. Easily the best value of any app I have bought.

This dictionary is amazing. This is an amazing dictionary. I'm a university student, and I've used it quite often as i am taking a few Spanish courses. The program is quite responsive and have a nice and clean user interface. If I type in "habla" or "hablas", it would find "hablar" automatically for me. I found this really useful when i didn't know the infinitive of the verb. And Verb Conjugator is absolutely amazing. It finds all the tenses in indicative as well as in SUBJUNCTIVE. There has not been a word i could not find on this dictonary yet. I recommend this to everyone who wants to replace their paperback spanish dictionary.

Bad Program. Poor program cross reference slow and problematic

Good if it worked. Doesn't open on iphone 5s

Needs some work, good potential. Update: Lately, the biggest annoyance is that the app always opens to the last entry or screen it was in when last closed. This would be much better as an option. It would make tons of sense to also have the option to have the app open to a blank search screen, ready to type in a word. It is extreeeeemely tedious when going back and forth between another app and this one to always have to wait for the app to open to its last state and then navigate to the search screen and then clear and then enter.... Most often dictionaries are opened to quickly look up a new or different word. Besides, the history screen does a pretty good job of recording the last entry viewed, and so on. --------------- History list is less buggy, but after a while, I still get duplicated entries on occasion, and sometimes random entries will not display the translation direction, but will again at a later time. Hey, how about manual bookmarking like other Ultralingua language apps I've seen in the app store? There's another star right there. ------------ OK, so I've discovered it IS possible to use text copy with the content. You have to tap and hold (and drag to position) from blank spaces or in the side margins, or something. You can get a resizable selection rectangle, or the standard selection "pins" (watch for the magnifier). It can be a pain, but it can be done. ----------- Factoring in the price tag, I can't offer more than three stars at this time. Some content is suspect/erroneous (see other reviews), although generally content is fairly clear and rather comprehensive. There ARE a lot of phrase examples, which is nice, buton occasion are written in ways I've never heard anyone speak, American or British, which makes one suspect the quality of all the translations. Maybe this is characteristic of translation dictionaries in general? Some searches yield no results even though the word appears as a subentry, in particular reflexive verb forms. Absolutlely no manual bookmarking capability like some of their other language products. Updates were VERY FEW and VERY FAR between, but lately there have been a couple with minor tweaks. No key or legend to explain dictionary abbreviations, etc., though most can be figured out in context. But WTF is the asterisk * for, found in some entries? The world may never know. Clumsy, slow method of navigating verb tenses (button + popup screen to select). It would be very useful to have arrow buttons and/or swiping to quickly move through tenses without leaving the conjugation screen. The number translation feature is great, though. At this price, this app is a little minimalistic in terms of user interface and functionality. But forget audio pronunciations. It's Spanish, for gosh sakes. There are FAR more important enhancements needed without adding a hundred megabytes. All said and done, sure, it's still probably better than a Franklin electronic dictionary.

Don't Buy Collins. Even Ultralingua admits this app is inferior to their $19.99 version. I love this app but if you're considering buying choose Ultralingua's standard version.

Why don't they upgrade this to an iPad version. It's extremely frustrating that the ultralingua translation dictionary 1) has more words 2) costs less 3) is a universal app I feel ripped off. In any case don't by this one which is obviously abandon ware.

new version crashes frequently. the latest version seems to accumulate errors and regularly crashes after use for about 25 words. needs a fix! other than that, it's a great app!

Mi diccionario mágico. I love this app! I bought an earlier version two years for $24.95 just before I went to Guatemala for two months to learn Spanish. I was wondering if any app could be worth that much until I began using it in my 1-on-1 tutoring sessions. Definitely worth it. It was so useful I began calling it "mi diccionario mágico." It had everything I needed for class when I needed it and it was fast at retrieval so I could look things up in the middle of a conversation with my maestro. I also had Barron's "501 Spanish Verbs" with me, a great thick book that I love, but I found I did not really need it because the conjugations were all in my Collins. When I got home I encouraged my daughter, an Hispanic Studies who was heading off to Chile for her junior semester abroad, to download the app. She used it and loved it as well. I have upgraded to the newest version 1.4.3 and it is even better. I am about to visit my daughter in Nicaragua for 3 weeks and have been studying and refreshing my Spanish using it. This new version is as remarkably stable as older versions and has never crashed on me. I like that it now begins to pick out possible words as I type in a word. I also like that the conjugations are now embedded in the definition of the word so I no longer have to switch to a separate conjugation section. In conclusion, this is best value app I have and worth every dollar.

Awesome. (Update) Where is the EYMOLOGY? It would really help you understand the language better. I really don't understand why people are complaining about this amazing software. Ultralingua has put a lot of work into its dictionaries and it shows. The best features are the conjugations, semantics, numbers, history, regional variation usage, and sample sentences. I would only ask the developers add the IPA transcription to Spanish even though it is largely phonetic, because this will help non-native speakers be more confident in their pronunciation and make them more aware of unfamiliar sounds. But other than that, this dictionary, like all other Pro Ultralingua dictionaries rocks! Keep up the good work and please continue adding new languages such as Japanese, Swedish and others!

Needs more updates. Not compatible with 4.0, no pronunciation, too expensive.

Excellent!! The best Spanish-English Translation/Dictionary application!!. I bit the 24.99 bullet and bought this application (after trying a lot of the free and lower cost ones). I usually don't write reviews, but this application is by far the best Spanish-English translation dictionary. I own a Franklin device and this application blows it out of the water. The dictionary/translator returns more than a basic translation, but often times, many examples and compound phrases. I love the fact that you can conjugate verbs, translate ANY number using a calculator-type interface, and highlight any word from the result of a translation and further translate, conjugate, and/or google. You will not regret this purchase. My only negative comment: I understand the fact that English is from England and Spanish is from Spain, but these languages are spoken in other countries. The icon for the application isn't completely accurate. Nevertheless, I created my own icon and changed it on my iPhone. :P

Simply Awesome. The Best English-Spanish Dictionary in the Store.
