Nearly complete/glitch free. Not a complete, full referenced dictionary that you will find in an actual full-size dictionary, but for the most part quite extensive, and it is incredibly quick since it requires no internet. As an English teacher living in Germany for almost 3 years, it has been very useful in all level courses. Some colloquial, specialized and seldomly used words you will not find this dictionary. Go to Leo dic for that answer. This dictionary lies somewhere between Leo dic, which rarely gives context or useage, and a full size book dictionary. The weight of dragging around a giant Langenscheidt dictionary was by far the biggest tradeoff.

Generally good - lacks important feature. Generally this is a good dictionary. However, that is lacks indication with verbs on whether they are transitive or intransitive is a major flaw.

Great Information - Little Slow / Buggy. I've enjoyed using this application. I primarily use it to look-up words I encounter when reading German language websites with Safari on the iPhone. This involves doing a select/copy on the word in Safari (or other German text application), closing Safari, launching the dictionary, and pasting the word into the search box. I have been very pleased with the search results and definitions (i.e., they provide many different translations and context usages). However, I have two non-trivial problems: 1. I cannot paste text into the search box anymore since the v. 1.3 upgrade (which caused the dictionary to crash everytime I tried to launch it). Although 1.3.1 seems to have fixed the crash problem, I can no longer paste text into the search box like I previously did nearly every day (and copy/paste works just fine in other apps). 2. The start-up time is painful. I want to be able to look words up quickly while reading. It can take 20-30 seconds to complete the operation I described before, most of which is the Ultralingua startup time. If it weren't for those two issues I'd use this application much more frequently.

Stopped working. It has stopped working

Wonderful, except for crashing. I have used the German and French versions for years, and they are indispensable; however, on a current trip to Germany, with heavy usage, I have had to delete and redownload the app twice, due to crashing upon launch issues. This has always been a sporadic problem with this app. I'm disappointed that the issue continues. I rely on this dictionary, and I wish this issue could be solved!

Excellent for serious language students. I have tried many translators for the iPhone, PalmOS, and online. This one is worth every penny IF you are a serious English to / from German student. If you are not a serious student (e.g. vacationing, visiting, whatever...) then I suggest trying one of the travel / common phrase applications.

Stable app, extensive dictionary. Having used Ultra Lingua for many years, it has proved its reliability and seen me through multiple trips abroad and several foreign-language novels. It is the app that never leaves my phone!

Add Pronunciation Please. I was very disappointed when I found out there's no pronunciation for the German words. I have been using "and loving" the Ultralingua French/English version and that one DOES have the pronunciation for the French words. I'm also interested in speaking the language not only in reading and writing it, so until the pronunciation for the German words is added this app will won't be as nearly as useful as it can be. Thanks Ultralingua. P.S. I also have the Ultralingua Portuguese/English and just realized that one doesn't have the pronunciation for the Portuguese words either. I hadn't noticed before because Portug. is my native language so I don't need the pronunciation for those, as I imagine most of the English native speakers don't care much for the pronunciation of the English words in an app like this.

small vocabulary. The app works very well, but I'm really disappointed by the small vocabulary. The description promises 'collegiate-level', but can't find 3 out of 4 words I'm looking for. I would recommend it only for beginner levels.

killer update. I bought this app when it first came out and it was really good, I love how you can select a word and if it's a verb, conjugate it. Now with this update it seems they have squashed all the bugs and the app is really fast and responsive with increased utility. JUST LOVE IT. One of the best apps.

Now a five star app!. The conjugation issue is fixed with the new update. Updated review to five stars. Thank you!!

What happened to landscape mode? Thumbs down!. I also have the Spanish & French dictionaries from Ultralingua, and can't believe that with this update, the landscape mode is gone from all three. Frankly I'd much rather do without the latest 'improvements' but at least be able to use this on my iPad. The worst part about it is that even in portrait mode, when you try to enter any text for search, the keyboard that pops up is in… landscape mode, which blocks the field where you're supposed to enter the text. Thus rendering this app TOTALLY useless. Please fix this PRONTO!

Best German<->English Dictionary. Similar to the French - English dictionary, which I’ve used for years, the German Ultralingua dictionary is equally excellent. Vocabulary and verb conjugations are at your fingertips. Change the font to meet personal preference. There are several free German dictionary apps available but none are on a par with the Ultralingua dictionary - well worth the nominal price!

Pretty good but..... ....but it does not have an entry for one of the most common word under the sky: a cat! I tried both English and German. Nothing. Looks like cats are not very well known in Germany I guess, lol. Besides that it's a pretty good dictionary, lots of options, and lots of help about a word (except a cat of course!) that you're searching for. Worth buying.

Unbeatable Resource if You Have the Cash. If you have $20 to spare buy this app. It will make studying German easier and less tedious by not having to flip through a dictionary for everything or sit at your computer. You can lay comfortable on your bed doing homework. But if you don't have twenty dollars to spare you might want to try a cheaper model. If it was around $10 I'd feel more comfortable giving it 5 stars.

wonderfull app. Great dictionary for the pocket. The new search-as-you-go function really did it. I was a little sad to have lost my history with the update.

Very satisfied. No problems.. A very convenient and handy dictionary app. I've had no problems with it. The conjugation tables are really helpful. Also, you can click on any form of the verb and hear how it is pronounced. Admittedly, the pronunciation of the verb forms is a bit robotic sounding, but at least it gives you an idea of the correct pronunciation.

Love it!. This is a great program. I plan on getting the Spanish one as well. I love how you can hyperlink back and forth.

Fantastic Dictionary!. I use Ultralingua apps for several languages and they have all been superb. I like the built in conjugations for verbs as well. Very nice.

Best software dictionary I've ever used. As an English speaker living in Germany, I have used several electronic dictionaries; from dedicated hardware to programs on PalmOS. The ease of use of this one, along with the ability to conjugate verbs (in BOTH English and German) raises it far above all the others. At the same price as a paper dictionary, but triple the functionality makes this a program that stays in my Home screen.

Pretty good. I would have rated it higher if not for the high price. But it seems to work pretty well. I like the Conjugations function. There are lots of example phrases. Navigating thru the dictionary is pretty intuitive, easy and quick. My one wish would be for it to have audio recordings for pronunciation help. It does not have that. However, at least now my iphone will be more than just an alarm clock when I’m traveling in Germany! ;-)

Indispensable, though the new icons a major backward step in usability.. The Collins Ultralingua dictionary content and new user interface overall is good. The one major, major minus - They need to bring back more easily identifiable icons. The flags worked really well for quick easy access to the right dictionary. Can barely discern the difference now. Also, Do not bother to download the Ultralingua bookshelf. It is just a marketing tool for Ultralingua's benefit not their users'. It forces an extra click to get to the dictionary you need while presenting you with needless commercials and social media options.

The Perfect Pocket Dictionary!. Although many have commented on the high price of these Ultralingua Language Dictionaries, they really are top quality applications. They provide OFFLINE translations in an easy-to-use, streamlined app that gives you multiple definitions of the words, includes common phrases in which they are used, and allows you to tap any word for more information. There are a number of nice smaller touches as well, such as a history of the verbs you've conjugated (but not of your dictionary searches), and easy switching between searching in English and German. You can even search for a conjugated verb to find the infinitive! Their website says the dictionaries come with "up to" 250,000 entries, and I have been impressed with the words that are included (I even tried words like "hegemony" and "quixotic"). All in all, the only downside to this app is the high price. But, in my opinion anyway, it's well worth it!

Simply Amazing. It definitely worth the price!! It shows conjugation, past tense etc... The Best!! Thank you :) (Could you make Russian dictionary please?)

Great App!. I use this app daily, I love it! I just moved to Germany and it comes in very handy! Would be nice if umlauts and ezsetts were added to the keyboard though! I highly suggest this app for daily life! The phrases and sentances when you look up a word help refrence the word which is the best way to learn!

One of two I count on. I am in my third yr learning German. This is one of two dictionary apps I have relied on consistently. The great strength of this one is the conjugation tables. Word usage examples are helpful.

Very useful. This app is a winner for me. I am going away to Germany for a year and have already found this a very handy app. Although not perfect, it is very reasonably priced I believe. $20 so that I will be able to sound smarter and not look like the "dumb American," I gladly paid the $20

sharkey101. Liked this. Worth the $20. Recognizes most conjugated verbs within a normal sentence structure. It doesn't recognize all of them instantly, however, one can figure out the verb thru guesses viewing different verbs and having the app conjugate them.

Does Contain Article! Great App. Someone had said that this app did not contain the gender for nouns in the dictionary. Well, just for everyones information.....the gender of the noun is marked by one of three letters; F (feminine), M (masculine), N (neuter). From there, I think you can figure it out. I have only one complaint on this app...while it's searching for information it would be nice to have feedback. Someone else made the same comment, and I would just like to reinforce that. It's nice to know that your iphone isn't freezing up after having spent 20$. All in all, very slick.

Problems discovered after most recent update. The latest app iOS 9 update seems to be defective. I'm encountering problems and bugs such as, when I enter a word into the search field, it just remains there, no matter how many other words are researched. Using the back arrow keys does nothing to remove the entry. Additionally, after looking at verb conjugations, it is impossible to back out to the original screen. These "issues" need immediate attention and resolution.

Amazing must-by product!. I live in Paris and attend university in a tri-lingual Englsih-German-French program and I cannot tell you how helpful these apps are. I own both the French and German ones and would highly recommend them to ANYONE! They are really simple to use and give very thorough answers to even technical vocabulary. You will not be disappointed if you buy this product.

Quick & Efficient. This app is quick and easy to use. Thus far, every word that has been needed, has been listed. The interface is clean and easy to use. Verb conjugations are available. Simply, it is one of the best purchases that I have ever made from the iTunes Store. Suggestion: Voice-to-text input would be nice.

Recommend highly. I purchased this app over 5 years ago and I’ve gotten more value out of it than any other by far. The conjugation tables are invaluable. And unlike many dictionaries, it will present all the possible intentions of the word to prevent error (for example the word for ‘chain’ could be translated ‘ketten’ or ‘verkettung’, but the second refers to a chain of causality). It may seem pricey but it’s honestly an amazing value. *highly recommend*

Sluggish iPad performance after update. The dictionary is still terrific, but the latest iPad update slows the app to a crawl. The app sometimes takes seconds to recognize key presses, and seconds more to return a search result. Oddly, the same app on iPhone works instantly.

Ich mag es!!. I lived in Vienna for half a year for school and this app. helped me a lot. I loved the conjugation feature with all the different tenses. Helped me get through german class! I also loved that it didn't have to be online to get the translation. It was also great for the grocery store. Thanks!!!

Good intermediate-level dictionary. This dictionary contains most of the words I've tried looking up in it. I do this mostly in the context of browsing German websites and reading German newspapers. Would be considerably better if it gave you word suggestions as you were in the process of partially typing a word. Would also appreciate showing "der", "die", and "das" instead of the m. f. n. notation.

Absolutely dismal. I have been trying to look up the meaning of "das Regal" to see it's plural and it's showing me a translation for some random verb...seriously?

No pronunciation??!?. I should have read the other reviewer saying there is no pronunciation. Seriously, I would have never dropped 20 bucks for a dictionary that doesn't have pronunciation, I don't care how good this dictionary is. How could you possibly have a dictionary that doesn't help you pronounce the words (especially German!) I want my money back.

I hate this update!!!. I have been using these dictionaries on my ipad (in German and Italian) for at least 3 years and this update is just horrible. The new format gives little information on a page so it takes much, much longer to find what you are seeking and then to get the conjugations, etc. the conjugations are far less legible than they used to be. I hate this update and wish that I could get the old format back. Why would they go backwards?????

Excellent application. Well-designed user interface and with a very good vocabulary - equivalent to an intermediate-advanced level translation dictionary - this app is by far the most useful I have found in the App Store to date and infinitely superior to other D-E translators I have tried. Well worth the money.

Handy and just as good as the alternatives. I've been using this app nearly daily for the past two weeks to help me read works in my field. I've compared it to the free desktop program Dilo and to Cassell's G-E dictionary. While there were a few times when one or two of these three sources lacked a word that the other(s) had, that was rare and evenly distributed. This app does have the UI problems others have mentioned. I think the price is a personal decision. For me it was worth $20 to be liberated from the paper tome and, to a lesser extent, from my laptop. If you always use a G-E dictionary when you have easy access to the Internet, I'd save your money and stick with Dilo. I like "translating" outdoors or on the sofa, so I'm happy I bought it.

Good app, but far from perfect. I like this app. The GUI is well designed. Other reviews have mentioned some of it's shortcomings, but they were not serious enough to deter me from buying it. I was previously using a Palm-based dictionary called Bdicty by Binks. I find it annoying that I need to know the word I'm seeking. Many times I may only know the first few letters or the sound of the foreign word, nothing more. Bdicty lets me scroll to the letter and then through the entire dictionary from that point -- very useful. While this app is nicer in other ways, that missing feature is sorely missed. Bdicty also let's you add or edit words, and has a button to switch from English-German to German-English, again very useful to speed things up. But this is quite good for it's price.

Great!. I chose this app instead of a German-English dictionary, and I'm happy I did! It has about the same amount of definitions as a good dictionary, but it doesn't take 10 minutes to find the word you're looking for. I would definitely reccomend this to you!

Greatest dictionary app. I was waiting to purchase this app since a long time. Thank you for the Cyber Mondey sale!!! This app is just amazing and does everything, just love it. I'm a Master student in Germany and it's very amazing to have a pocket distionary that helps me a lot. Thank you Ultralingua for such amazing app. Btw, I don't know what y'all complaining about, but it just worth the price. Price tells us about the QUALITY, and the quality of this app is pretty high!!!

New Zealand. ...strange glitch by which the English word cannot be found but the German "Neuseeland" can be. Sierra Leone? Nope. Same in English and German though. Perhaps a random country QA is in order, developers? I am otherwise very happy with my purchase. Verb conjugation is the most difficult part of my language learning, so having this resource handy (auf meinem Handy!) is great.

Pricey, but worth it. I minored in German in college and at $30 I really had my doubts about the value of this app, but it is well worth it especially if you are either a student of German or you travel to Germany. Pocket dictionaries may be small (in relative terms) but until you have to lug one around you don't realize how much of a hassle they are. The number function is probably not very useful because German numbers are not very difficult to understand. You might only use it if you have to write checks in German. The main thing I like is the plentiful number of example phrases so that you know you are getting the right word. The verb conjugations are mainly useful for irregular verbs of course, but if you are new to German it's nice to have the regular ones too.

Wonderful. Perfecft well worth the money for German English reference on the go... Especially if you don't have Internet...

Great dictionary. When I lived in German for a year this was my go to dictionary since it was always available when I had internet access or not. While cheaper or free English-German dictionaries are available this is definitely worth the money

Multum in Parvo. I have three Ultralingua dictionaries: Italian, French, now German. Even if one knows a language fairly well it is easy to blank out on a word, or gender, or verb declension. All these dictionaries, within the limits of an IPhone's memory, are useful and impressive. German being my weakest language it is nice that this is the best of them all. Generous usage notes--"pick" as "choice" nicely differentiated from tool--the Italian and French are less good about this. Excellent verb section_ a pure extra in a dictionary. Very good coverage--even gives "loipe" as "langlauf"--cross country skiing. Bravo!

Better with the update. They fixed the bugs! Finally! 4 stars for having to wait 6months for the update.

Retrograde Update. The latest update has made the dictionary much less useful: fewer entries can be seen for queries and on the iPad the use of space is much poorer. It just feels lacking like a 99 cent dictionary. This is a shame as the old format worked well.

Excellent tool!. I tried several G-E dictionaries for iPhone and this one is the best. Highly recommended!

Great! ... Still The best!. Update: Still amazing. Would love to see a word of the day integrated! I am very impressed with this and is well worth the 20 dollars. It will keep me brushed up on my german always. Great interface to search words within a searched word. Two thumbs up!

Good translator!. Pls. retina support!!!!! Translator is top! And pls give the possibility to show more tenses at one time.

German Dictionary. Nice German dictionary application. It is comprehensive, but as a learner I would like to see more examples of how words are used in the language. For example, multiple definitions are given for the English word "pathetic"; such as, pathetisch and traurig. They are both adjectives, but unless you know that traurig means "sad" you may use the word in the wrong context. I guess they both reflect a negative mood state and that's why they are grouped together, but examples of their use would be helpful. Another note... I really appreciate the colloquial language (Ausdruecken) that has been integrated into the App. It would be great to have more information on the origins of these expressions. Understanding some of the statements can be mind-bending; an example being "Mach mal Dampf" which is supposed to be equivalent to "pull your finger out"????

Great. Especially good because you can look up the verb from it's conjugated form which even a dictionary cannot do. History good for flash card lists.

Worth the Price. Works far better than a traditional dictionary in all ways, with speed being the key factor here. Great for German class!

I tried the new GUI user interface. - no thanks. BRING BACK OLD INTERFACE - as option perhaps. OR FIVE NE MY MONEY BACK!! The old design had its flaws (too thick, more taps necessary) but it was efficient. Now u have to scroll kilometres and miles of text to get to what I need and it's not good on eye too.

Have tried several and this is the best. Offers both a comprehensive German-English dictionary as well as verb conjugations. This app is worth every penny.

iPad rotation issue fixed. The iPad rotation bug introduced in 1.5.3 has been fixed (at least for me) in 1.5.4. Back to five stars.

So handy, and quick. But it's not a substitute for Cassel's. a little quirky at times.

great. the new mobile update is great :D this app has always been very nice sleek, and shiny, - the interface is just awesome. I love the Numerical and Verb feature, it's a feature which not many other mobile dictionaries have. It'd be awesome if there were voice recordings, but i can't ask for much more :) (from artypig78)

Not as complete as "Collins Unabridged" but still good. I'm not sure the exact relationship between the "Ultralingua" and "Collins" brands, but I bought this before I realized that there is in fact a "Collins" brand *unabridged* German dictionary available in the iTunes store ($34.99). While this dictionary is certainly good, it's not as complete. In particular, finding expressions is not as easy. I also miss the bookmarking feature. One good thing about this one is the standard use of the pinch-to-zoom (something those of us with not-so-perfect eyesight always appreciate). The animation when you change translation direction is also kind of cool to watch. ;)

Pronunciation?. My fault. I didn't notice b4 I purchased That I would NOt get help with pronunciation. That's true for my Espan~ol App also. Otherwise ok. But not ok with me S L L

Rich and practical tool.. This is a rich, practical and portable tool to translate single words.

Excellent Buy. I'm a German major and I'm entering at a 201 level. I opted for this $19.99 app with a few reservations, but after using it, the money is definitely worth it. It has an extensive dictionary with many related phrases and idioms. The conjugation tools are impressive as well. For anyone with an iPhone/iPod Touch and searching for a pocket dictionary- look no further.

Fantastic. The verb conjugations alone make it with every penny. Hope they add more words in other categories like medicine and botany. Representative sentances would be a dream.

Not worth its $20. If you are looking for a serious dictionary, please get another one!

Find another. I'm really quite dissatisfied with this dictionary. No book marking feature, annoying interface, no etymology, no pronunciation feature - wish I knew how to find something better...

normalingua. The Verbs are missing the transitive or intransive indication, one could really use some form of saved lists of words, reference to similar verbs (different suffixes). What about copying? No grammatical references? this is supposed to be dictionary.

Best translation dictionary for iPhone. I've owned this app for well over a year now, and it is by far the best German dictionary app on the market.

Good, but last version was better. I love this app, and it works great for what I need it to do, but the old version update seemed a bit easier to use.

High Price but High Interest. A tad bit expensive I'd say, but as a German major I'd say this is _very_ useful!

Noun Gender. --- Updated Review --- I've decided to write a new review of this application. At the time, I hadn't actually purchased the product and was basing my review on an assumption that the translator didn't included noun gender identification. I shouldn't have assumed based on a screenshot. But the screenshot for this German version makes it very hard to tell. In the picture every word is identified with either a v. or an n. I figured the n. stood for noun and v. for verb. That's not the case. While v. does mean verb, n. means neutral. Nouns that are feminine have an f. and masculine nouns have an m. I wish Ultralingua would have chosen a screenshot that also contained masculine and feminine nouns. If they had, I wouldn't have waited so long to buy this top notch translator. It's certainly the best I've ever owned. --- Original Review --- I would certainly pay $20 to have a digital pocket English/German dictionary. I'd pay more frankly. Good ones with this many words certainly cost more as stand alone machines. Books even cost more sometimes. The problem for me is that this dictionary doesn't identify the gender of the noun. Another review by a German major gave it 5 stars and said it was a great tool! I find it hard to believe that a German major or anyone who has even studied the language for a week would overlook such a major flaw in this product. Knowing the gender of the noun is critical for German sentence structuring... And since there is really no method for figuring it out just by looking at the word, any German major would tell you that you have to learn every noun with its gender article Der, Das, or Die... and yet very few translators include it... even the free ones on the Internet. Correct this, and language lovers and students of German will buy this product. It's that simple.

Worthless.. This is not a scholarly dictionary. Half the words I look up aren't there. Get Pons instead.

Not for pros. Good app for beginners, but almost useless for upper level students. The conjugations are helpful, but it lacks a lot of words.

Don't buy the 29.99 app - this is the same app. The Collins German English dictionary and verbs for 29.99 is the same app as this one, same dict same version. Haven't used this one yet but wanted to give the heads up on the price. Unfortunately iTunes won't let me review the other app to warn shoppers there.

To: GameFace87. Yes. It does work both ways and is very helpful.

Decent German dictionary, a few UI issues. It's a decent dictionary, with good definitions, synonyms and phrases. Plurals are clearly marked, which is a nice feature that many online dictionaries often omit or require you to reference another website for declensions, and having a conjugator is also very handy for irregular verbs. There are a few usability issues with the program itself, not with the content: - When searching, some sort of visual feedback would be nice (e.g., spinning gear). - When the definitions continue off the bottom, if you scroll to the bottom, the lower button bar cuts off the last line of text and you need to drag up and hold it there to read the last line. - if you search for a word in one language, then select a word in the definition in the other language to look up, the Dictionary: status line at the top does not change even though the language has in fact changed. This can prove disconcerting if you attempt to search for another word in the original language and the program tells you it was unable to find the word; pressing the language change button remedies the issue, but it's a little annoying. - The UI can seem kind of unresponsive at times, particularly when searching for verbs in the conjugator; a slightly longer delay between the end of typing and the program searching for appropriate verbs to suggest would probably help a lot here. I wouldn't classify any of these issues as fundamental issues, just minor problems that will hopefully be remedied in an update.

Not worth $20.00. This program is a joke if you need a dictionary just use "Google Translate" it's free and ten times more likely to give you correct congegation you can even talk to the program and it will in a sense talk back please for your sake dont get this

Full. Many useful definitions. Allows the user to search, using any form of the verb.

Great app for intermediate level. I use it everyday and it is great. The only problem is that the conjugation section uses the outdated german spelling (see for example müssen).

fine, but mo typos. works well, but i am constantly coming across typos involving missing or superfluous umlauts. many translations are either wrong, or seem wrong without context, like an example phrase.

Crappy dictionary. Some of the German words it doesn't have are incredibly common, so it's pretty useless: Rinnstein, Gulli, verhunzend, Klappsmühle, Zecke, mickrig, motzen - it's a looooong list.

The best!. Very comprehensive! Each definition has common phrases translated as well, but the verb conjugations are the best!

Nice, but missing the articles for nouns. I am trying to learn German and unfortunately they do not include the articles for nouns. This could be the best translation app very easily but they don't seem to be interested in improving.

A step backwards...for sure.. I gave the previous version 5 stars. However, this update is not near as good. PLEASE bring back the old format. Much more user friendly.

The best bidirectional dictionary there is !. I'm a student who's learning German for university entrance. I'm fortunate enough to own an iPad, and it would be an understatement to say that this dictionary has really started to change things for me. CONTENT: Nonpareil database of words, phrases, sentences and colloquial expressions. There isn't a single thing I looked up and couldn't find. Better yet, if there's something you don't understand in your results, you can simply tap on the word to see its meaning. As a bonus, if you're typing a word, the spelling of which you're not sure of, Ultralingua will actually give you suggestions to match your search - and it works beautifully ! On top of that, when you discover that you can actually conjugate verbs in hordes of tenses (see third screenshot above), you promptly realize that this dictionary is absolutely indispensable if you're a student learning a foreign language, or a traveller who needs a dictionary at hand all the time - just excellent ! Verbs, adjectives, nouns are marked clearly, as well as articles are easy to note. INTERFACE: The UI is clean and simple. Unlike the PONS dictionary which my classmate has, the interface is not cluttered and filled with ugly colors. Its very elegant, and every word (or search result) is differentiated nicely. In PONS everything was jumbled together like curry and, like a real dictionary, you need to melt you brain to figure out where your result is - well, not here ! You can proceed to the next page by flicking the bottom corner which is quite convenient, I just wish there was a page-curl effect (like iBooks) or a little curl on the corner to tell you that a next page is available. Otherwise, it's been brilliantly designed. FUNCTIONALITY: And here's where Ultralingua tops. Although the performance of the app in terms of speed and snappiness of searches is way above average, it could improve a little. My most favorite feature is a convenient button to swap languages instantly. You have a history column where you see all the words you've looked up - very, very nice if you're about to write something and you think of a few words in your native language, the translations to which you don't know - you search them one after the other and they all get stored in the history - this way you don't need to keep on looking them up while writing. There's even a number pad that tells you, in words, the numbers you're typing, which is totally awesome ! All in all, this is a top notch app if you're looking for a dictionary. It works both on iPhone / iPod touch and on iPad so a one-time purchase is enough for you to have dictionaries with you everywhere. I can go far enough to say that this is one purchase you'll definitely not regret - hence, very highly recommended !

Conjugations are buggy!. $19.99 and my ability to use the conjugation feature is virtually non-existent. I want a refund!

Very useful :). I use it for my AP German class...and it is a godsend. Great app, very simple and functional. A bit pricey but once you use it, you'll come to realize it's worth it. Btw, umlauts as eszetts ARE typeable. Hold down a vowel until you see the other chöïcës. And aß for the eßzett, hold down B. Buy it, it's well worth it :)
