Very Nice effects. sounds great.. The only con is that it takes forever to load the preset pop up. Which makes browsing through presets vastly unusable and not worth using. It’s for this reason I don’t use it as much as I would like to.

Where is in-app Sunset Reverb?. I purchased the full Mixbox CS. Where is the in-app?? It's empty!??

Back to the top. The latest update 1.3.3 fixed remaining issues. MixBox is now back on awesome status.

Great app but be careful with the updates. The app is an amazing mixing and mastering tool. I use on every track because is not very taxing on the cpu and sounds great. I’ll have to be careful with the upcoming updates because 1.3.0 broke all backwards compatibility. Luckily 1.3.3 fixed the problem and now the app is working properly. Back to 5 stars

Wow...really...... I can’t believe this came out of nowhere....this is all I been waiting for...I’m tellling you now, buy it and you won’t regret it...I’m making quality music in Cubasis 3 with this plugin..haven’t experienced any bugs so far..but for what it can do, it will get you a very nice demo or even mastered music if your good enough...I love it..

Outstanding collection of effects. If you’re serious about making your iPad/iPad Pro mixes sound more professional, this is the one to get.

Update killed my purchase. Edit: Raising to 3 stars because I still have to remove every old instance of mixbox in a session for it to work. All previous save states are unrecognized. The only workaround would be to remove mixbox and then reload. I’ve lost all mixes on a project because of this. Otherwise it’s great. Terrible that this mistake happened. There was no way I was going to save a user preset for every individual track I used this on in a session. Everything has to be remixed now.

One stop shop. Sounds amazing! Don’t need all my other audio units now. Go to for vocals and acoustic guitar every recording session. (Using iPad Pro) Recorded a Dean acoustic bass with a Lewitt 540s condenser and ran it through the bass presets, killer sound! No other audio units even come close for getting a good sound whatever instrument or vocal you are recording. Keep the expansion kits coming!

love it but. i love it but sometimes when i try using specific presets it sounds like everything blows and the whole track goes silent. For ex, im unable to use any guitar preset and it really bums me out.

Great when it works(typically doesn’t). The quality of the effects are amazing and really transformed my mix. However, it now doesn’t load the UI into the screen it just sits and spins in garageband. The audio completely breaks my mix by crashing the output so I hear nothing. I seriously spent a whole evening thinking it was my interface... It’s a real bummer, I feel like the “introductory price” means hey beta test this and pay us $40 for the privilege...

Lost all previous effects. Updated back to 5 start. Kudos to the quick fix. But the team should definitely tested this more thoroughly before such a major update. I purchased mixbox with all effects before they move to free app + IAP model. I updated the app and lost all the effects that I have previously paid for. Restore IAP did nor help with the problem. IK multimedia need to fix this asap!

Incredibly greedy, let us use family sharing!. $80+ and you think I’m going to buy for each member of my family that wants to use it to play music together? Incredibly shortsighted and greedy strategy, boys. I think you ran the numbers wrong. Eventide and FabFilter and many others (Actual pro grade developers) offer much more for less and allow family sharing. And cheaper apps comparable to yours are punching way above their weight. What is your excuse? I’ll be sure not to buy any more of your apps or peripherals from now on.

1.3 broke a year worth of projects. Version 1.3 changed the internal plugin ID, which means my sessions saved with pre-1.3 versions don't load properly. Worse still, they haven’t acknowledged the issue. Beware.

Musicians First??? Really? Full app not available when off-line!. IK Multimedia’s slogan is “Musicians First” but unfortunately with this update this is not the case. I purchased the app before there was an in-app purchase, and was able to use it without any issues. Then the “CS” update came along and screwed it up. Now with the current 1.3.2 update, I got all my effects back, but now I lose all the effects when I’m on airplane mode or not on a Wi-Fi connection! Yes you read that right. When on airplane mode, or not connected to Wi-Fi, users CANNOT USE THE APP THEY PAID FOR! $80 for an app that has limited use. That is horrible, and doesn’t fit with their slogan of “Musicians First.” Why must I be on wi-fi? So if musicians have a performance and rely on this app its not usable, unless connected to wi-fi. What a horrible way to treat customers and over charge them for an app that has limited use. Please fix this ASAP.

AMAZING!. WOW..... I wanted something similar to Slate Digital plug-ins on the ipad and finally it's here. The analog user interface with a touchscreen gives a nice hybrid. No more annoying mouse click when turning the knobs to adjust the settings. GLITCH - there is currently a glitch when using with Cubasis 3 on Sends. Every adjustments that are made to an indivitual channel(MixBox rack) effects other channels that are using racks. When MixBox is applied to Inserts, it works as normal. Thank you so much!

Used it all the time, now can’t use it all!. You guys have really handled this update to the free version very very badly. I have contacted support and hopefully you guys have a solution in the works. But meanwhile: what were you thinking?!?!

Please Fix. Like most recent user’s i too have lost my in app purchases. I think the patch from two days ago has resolved but now when i use mixbox within Cubasis it tells me to purchase to use effects. But i have already purchased. Strange thing is they show in the standalone fine. But when i open in Cubasis they are gone. Please fix all was fine before this update it ruined all my presets. This is horrible.......

Whoa!. I haven’t upgraded yet and thus the neutral rating. The bad reviews are truly terrifying. Can it possibly be true that the app is unusable if not connected to Wi-Fi? So everything will sound great in practice but fall apart when you need it most? Please tell me this isn’t true

Very very very good nearly use it on everything. i got it soon after it first came out for about 40~ $ incant remember. it works amazingly. too many instances in BM3 makes it crash tho thats probably bm3 issue. buy this app.

broken. DO NOT BUY THIS APP! Versions 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 (at least) are broken. I paid a LOT of money (about $50 US) for this app but I can now only access the free modules. IK Multigreedia has broken it in an attempt to squeeze more money out of customers. Happy holidays to you, too, IK. I'll never buy an IK product again.

Sounds really Cool. I would happily pay $20 for the full version. GarageBand Guitar effects and amp models are all free.

IK fails customers. MixBox is a pretty expensive app to start with. To have the latest update cause the deletion of vital user presets plus other difficulties for longtime users without clear info about a fix is very poor customer service. Not only were presets lost, projects frozen, etc., hours of time by the users affected are lost without an appropriate apology, or, more importantly, a fix. Shame on you, IK. You’re losing lots of fans. Check the Audiobus Forum for more details. MixBox was a wonderful and diverse tool. Too bad a careless release has caused so much pain for the iOS community.

Why are you making me Buy Again with this update. Why am i being forced to pay for an upgrade when i already bought the full version when this came out? Not cool.

Revised review. Dev seems to have fixed the app. Still lost all my personal presets, but at least it’s been restored to it’s former glory. Incredible effects app.

I don’t write reviews but.... I saw some negative reviews that haven’t been updated even though the issues have been fixed so I’m just writing this review to help this app get the praise it deserves. You guys did iOS music makers a solid with this thing. Keep it coming!

Great plugins for a great price. I would love to see to T rack series plugins come to iPad next. Full versions of these plugins would fit nicely with AUV3 format.

Scummy Business Practice. I spent $80 on this a year ago and now that the app is free you’re asking me to pay again? Get over yourselves. Make the in-app unlock free for previous owners of MixBox. I already paid for this app. EDIT: I can’t use the app when not on Wi-Fi now either? Okay I got my purchase restored but, again, I spent $80 on this. Now I can’t use it at a gig because the place doesn’t have wifi? Seems like a stupid oversight for an app supposedly for musicians but hey, what do I know, I’m only a gigging musician.

The box is in the way. It will be nice if the modules can be used individually without the box

Unable to restore purchases after latest update?. I purchased the app when it was released. Now with the latest update I only have the free version and “restore purchases” doesn’t do anything. There also doesn’t seem to be any way to contact support.

Meh. 3 stars for the UA modelers and ease of use. The rest sounds a bit hokey, especially the distortions. Not worth the ridiculous amount you are charging for it unless you’re going to be bringing in more units and NOT charging extra for them.

Amazing app but needs a patch ASAP. I’m currently reinstalling this app which is a real game changer and incredible addition to my DAW. The problem is that it seems like when the app is applied to more than three tracks at a time it is overloaded and it stops running completely, shutting down and causing it to no longer open in any iOS DAW system. I’m running an iPad Pro with a large processor that usually can handle multiple apps running at once but this app causes everything to shut down. It may be too good to be true because the sound is amazing and I’m not willing to quit using until I can find a work around but other folks that are not tech savvy will get frustrated with this. A patch or update is needed ASAP to save this app otherwise.

A New King in Town!. For song creation and mixing? This app immediately replaces a gang of individual effects AUV3s I have along with the guitar and amp sims I’ve been using. I’ve used MixBox CS so far in Cubasis 3 and it worked without a hitch recording my vocals and electric guitars. This app is packed to the brim with all varieties of high quality emulations of classic effects covering a wide base of applications. 600 presets? It’s gonna take me a week to go through all of them. Thank you IK Multimedia for providing an app that is complete unto itself, requiring no in-app purchases in order for it to have full functionality. The introductory price is a bargain considering what you’re getting. Preview samples, standalone + AUV3, ability to create custom presets and racks. The features go on and on. Somebody or somebodies took their sweet time to get this one right. I can’t wait for the weekend when I can really mess with this app! Right on, IK Multimedia!

MixBox not showing all the plug-ins. I purchased this app when it first came out, now it’s making me purchase a upgrade to use the plugins I already owned.

Once issue fixed, will change to 5 star. I am using musicbox cs in Garagband (latest version 2.3.10) as a plug-in. I can open it, add a rack or preset., but as soon as I start inputting sound (by using the virtual keyboard in GB), I hear a pop sound that then disables sound completely for GB (and any other tracks in the song, regardless if those tracks have musicbox or not as a plugin). I am using 2018 iPad Pro and to demo the musicbox app I simply used a grand piano instrument in the standard Keys patches of GB. I don’t think memory is the issue as I use memory intensive music apps frequently. The only way I can get GB to work again is to turn off the musicbox plug-in, exit GB fully (swiped app), go back in to GB, choose my song, and KEEP MusicBox off! Very disappointing as the app looks amazing and has powerful tools for mobile audio. Thank you for your attention.

TOP 3 AUV3 Effects BURN1GOTBEATS. This is my second review after using MixBox for a while now. I decided to change my rating from 4 to 5 stars it’s definitely in the top 3 effects in my opinion. And deserves a excellent rating IK has be been looking out for IOS producers I only hope other companies take note. ( Thanks from B1.)

MixBox cuts out. 5 stars when fixed. !FIXED!. !FIXED! 9 effects that cut out automatically when I try to use them on a track. I’m using iPad Pro, so there is no problem with my equipment. Channel strip in channel strip. Eq comp and eq 81 both work. Tape echo in delay Model 670 in dynamics Eq-pg Vintage eq-1a Ensemble in modulation Hall reverb in reverb Room reverb in reverb Tape cassette in saturation Calling reviewers with problems Lipschitz? Bit of an attitude problem? Does management know about this? Look in the mirror lately?

Why is the purchase called “full” if it doesn’t come with the Sunset reverb???. At the VERY least the description for the purchase should very specifically say that the Sunset reverb is NOT included so that we could know before paying money. Though this sort of thing has happened before with IKMultimedia in the past where they do something that is a bit sketchy to get a little extra money from people who are already customers. : ( kinda bummed about this nonsense.

Buzz.. Desperately needs a noise gate/suppressor. Thanks for the extra presets when you register, but my iPad doesn’t have them in the on my iPad files. Not sure if I didn’t follow the instructions right but I tried numerous times. Thanks for what I have now.

Key feature missing. It’s pretty cool, lot of good stuff in there. But as a guitarist it’s missing one essential tool that makes it useless to me without. There is no noise gate! If you play metal guitar you NEED a noise gate, sound is just unusable without one.

No presets with upgrade purchase. After restoring purchase, deleting and reinstalling app using restore purchase again i have access to FX but there are no presets. I have requested a refund. I was annoyed at first but now think i probably have too many FX already, this was the universe telling me too many choices can stifle creativity. Also their support page sends you in circles back to the same page offering faqs but no link to email or contact. Thats some slimy ducking of responsibility don’t you think?

Why do I have to buy this again?. I purchased this app when it was first released on the App Store. I have used it in a bunch of my productions and I love it! As of the latest update, the app is now free and is prompting me to pay $30 to use the full version of the app which I already own. How can I regain access to the app I already paid $40 for?

AMAZING!!!!!. I’ve been waiting for these effects for years!!!! I remember asking IK in emails to release this when I first bought Syntronik. Well they did and it couldn’t have been better timing!!!! The review before stated no automation and no cc control but, there is a dry/wet mix. I don’t know about cc or automation nor do I care or use it. No 1176, LA2A, or Pultec EQ is what has been keeping me from committing to vocals on the iPad Pro all that changed today!!!! Thank you IK Multimedia we appreciate your dedication and hard work to mobile musicians!!!!!

Good sound bad support. The sound is amazing but every time that ik multimedia release a new upgrade is worst I lose all my presets all my work this not work in AUM unless you install again like a new app unbelievable I suppose if you release a new update is for resolve problems not make new problems for that I can not have a profesional work with this app because imagine if I have a full mix proyect with 30 track with mix box and then I can not open because they decide to put free , now the app in Cubasis AUM beat maker is like a new one app,, now I lost all my work very good for you ik multimedia you need to search better developers

This is theft. I literally bought this less than a week ago. Paid $30. Now days later you are telling me to pay more? I’m posting this review because you apparently can’t be contacted any other way. Either make this right, or be forced to make this right. Either give me a full refund or a full version. There are zero additional options.

The upgrade. The 1 star is because I purchased this app and now it’s a upgrade but now we have pay again for this app I think this really mess up Iif I wouldn’t never upgrade I would have Al 70 plug-in ……

There are much safer choices you can make. I bought MixBox at full price and then IK took away almost all the functionality when they made it free+IAP and it took two updates to get things back to working. They had previously promised they would not have IAPs in the product. The remaining - and huge - problem is that the new version does not work in existing projects. IK support won’t even acknowledge this is a problem and seem to have little desire to be on the side of existing customers (presumably) in their pursuit of new revenue. They have even been insulting to customers in their communications. This is not a sign of a professionally-minded, customer-focused company and I cannot recommend their products as a result.

Previously Paid Purchase Won’t Restore. The latest update to freemium won’t restore my previously paid full version. Majority of functionality now gone. Poor.

Thoughtless update. When this software works, or at least when it used to work, it was absolutely freaking brilliant. It quickly became a major component of my production workflow. And that’s why I’m so bleeping angry. Your recent update has killed every single project where I was using MixBox. That’s over 30 projects and over 200 individual tracks ruined. Do you have any idea how much time that will take to repair? You do realise that professionals are using your software don’t you? Talk about reputational damage. I see you’ve got plenty of time to respond to 1 star reviews, providing pointless advice to upgrade. Sadly upgrading fixes nothing. My projects are still all broken. How are you going to fix that? Maybe you should spend your time properly QA’ing your code releases. You’re lucky you don’t have a legal presence in my country, otherwise you’d be speaking to my lawyers. This is unconscionable and despicable behaviour. Musicians First? I don’t think so… How could we possibly ever trust you again with our precious music.

I bought the full version, now cannot restore my FX. As per title, fix it and I’ll remove the one star review. Might ask for a refund anyway. Not a small amount of money to waste.

Update Removes Paid Purchases. With the new update to a new freemium model, my previous purchase of the full app has disappeared. Amateur stuff

Greed. As someone who bought this when it was full price before this freemium nonsense went down, it feels like I don’t even own this app anymore. Now they want me to buy other packs that have been added to this once great app. It’s good for effects but at this price model, and the behaviour of the devs I would say look elsewhere for your effects, before your $100 purchase is revoked when they pull this nonsense again.

MoneyBox. I feel that although this might be good if it’s the first IK product you buy, but if like me you have many of your other apps it’s like getting us to repurchase effects we already own. Three more things: • it’s too expensive overall • I couldn’t find it in the App Store search. Work with apple to fix this. • I heard there was a sale but you haven’t edited the app description text so I’m not sure if the pricing has made it to my local App Store.

Come on!. What’s up with you guys! Fix this exceptionally expensive app and respond to your customers. If it’s not one thing it’s another with this company. Sometimes incredibly good quality apps and the next ridiculously poor updates losing many people hard work on their music and all the while the worst customer service. Don’t turn your back on your bread and crust. It’s both stupid and unethical.

A fantastic magic box!!!. I purchased this app (after a free try) a week ago for a specific use : using my iPad on stage for guitars (nylon, acoustic baritone and electric) and vocals. I’m using an “old” Scarlett interface. Guys, you made an absolute killing work!!! Even if I know that it’s not (only) a guitar multi effects , the sound quality of every effect is far away from bias fx or tonestack that I used before. It’s sharp, responsive, dynamic like I’ve never heard on iPad. It work without any problem with AUM. Thanks to your team, I have got my iPad gigs setup for both guitars and vocal!!! Cherry on this beautiful cake will be more midi control.

Full app access. I just made the in app full purchase but I have the same amount of presets. It seems I already had the full app minus the sunset reverb bundle. I need a explanation or a refund. Thank you

Influential, so please ask Apple to stop dropping the ball with IAPS. A built in audio recorder. Too many AUv3 apps have limited stand alone functionality because of this. You start to play around, get something great going, only to realize when you want to record something in a host, the setup loses everything you had going. Takes some of the fun out of contemporary audio processing apps. All music apps used to have this function and with the AUv3 or nothing movement (as great as it is) it is kind of sad that stand alone too often does not provide that shiny red record button. Anyway, the effects that I have messed with in here sound phenomenal, and I especially love that lo-fi trilogy. Could you also try to make this universal? Thanks...

Amazing. I was a bit worried when I read the other reviews of 1 star. Although the app blew my mind in demo version on AUM. So, I purchased the full package and it works…thank you! This app renders lots of my existing ones useless…it’s absolutely fantastic.

Restore purchase not working. I purchased this app a while back, now why is it telling me to restore purchase? Ok fine, but when I tried restoring, it doesn’t work. I have to pay again?? Shraggy?.! Whats’s going on? I loved this app. Could kindly fix this?

Mind blowing. This will reduce my need for more effects apps. Of course there are always special apps that do crazy things and no one app can cover all the bases. But this one covers a lot. It will be awhile before I buy another effects app. I feel bad that I wasted so much money before this one came along. This guy uses not many resources so it's perfect for so many things, actually anything I can think of. The price? Anyone complaining is just not on track with cost. You can but 70 apps at $3 each or one app at $40. So buy 70 apps for $200 and get a combination of decent apps and useless and mediocre. Or spend $40 and gave all the professional quality effects you will likely ever need.

Wow. Normally i dont write reviews but I have been amazed by this app. Only had it for a few days. It is worth every penny. I will admit that I was a bit apprehensive for the intro price of $39.99 but it is worth every penny, centavo, or whatever currency you use. Buy it. You wont regret it. I certainly did not. Ι would even have paid full price for it.

almost all effects don't function after update?. after first purchasing this app..all the effects was accessible.. now all of a sudden the update takes away all the effects? why do this?

NEEDS AN UPDATE I CANT MAKE A FULL SONG/BEAT WITHOUT IT CRASHING. Until you fix the problem of this plug-in crashing in garageband I’m not gonna use it because it’s just gonna keep pissing me off every time. It does the same thing for cubasis... For anybody that’s trying to buy this right now I wouldn’t recommend it for GarageBand NOR Cubasis because after a while it will stop working until you remove them from the plug-in rack.

Excited and Disappointed. First of all, let me say that this thing sounds great, and for the price it is a great addition to the plugins that I use in Cubasis 3 (Stock, Waves, FabFilter DS). So far I have spent the most time with the compressors. I like what they are adding to the mix I am currently working on. I have the bus compressor on the master track and It’s sweet! The disappointing thing about this plugin currently is that when you use it on mono tracks (almost every track in my project), it adds a small stereo ‘ambience’ sound to the mono track which smears the imaging of the tracks and the panning. When I put MixBox on my kick drum mic track, it lost it’s centered, mono weightiness and sounded slightly stereo and less punchy even before I added any effects into the box shell. I am assuming that it is because it only has stereo outputs and not a mono output option. This is a major issue for detail oriented mixers. There should be a mono/stereo toggle or something behind the scenes that does this automatically. I tried putting a stereo to mono utility plugin after mixbox to try and center and tighten the sound again but it didn’t sound as focused as when mixbox was just bypassed altogether. I hope this will be fixed in updates. The potential of this plugin, to add a ton of colors to your iPad recordings for a tenth of what you pay for the computer version, is insane. I would be using this on every track and be really happy with what is now available on iPad for recording and mixing. Until then it will have a permanent home on my mix bus but used nowhere else. At least I have Waves Audiotrack to tie me over with the mono sound sources until then.

PLEASE FIX THE UPDATE FOR THOSE WHO PURCHASED THE FULL VERSION!. I paid full price for this app last week and loved it enough to incorporate it into my workflow, but since I’ve just updated to the latest version, it says I have to pay $29.99 AGAIN for the plugins I’ve already purchased when I bought the app! I want to give the developers the benefit of the doubt and say that it’s an update issue, but PLEASE fix this! I’ve lost the plugins I’ve been using for my current sessions! 😪
