App requires purchase on other same I’d devices. I paid for this app last year. At the time of purchase it was only a one time payment however now the app is asking for a monthly subscription which violates the agreement on which I first purchased the app at the time that it was a one time payment. I expect that original agreement to uphold and if the app developers want to make it a monthly subscription for new users then it’s in it’s right however I purchased the app on the agreement of a one time payment for the use of the app thus then I should not be charge a monthly fee and I expect the original agreement on which I purchased the app to be upheld. If someone can look into this and fix it it would be great. Thanks

Such a great app!. If you struggle with reading and you are in college taking a course that has your face stuck in a book this app can really help work in your favor! it’s not perfect but it comes close. even if you don’t know if you like the app it gives you a free trial no pay no credit card info nothing, you try it you like it you keep it and if not then delete but it’s a great tool if you have chapters and chapters to get through in a short time.

Needs a history function for websites. I like the app, but please add a history function that keeps track of all the websites that I visited. I like to read books with this app on different websites. It would help me a lot if I could go to a history tab and look for the url that I want to go to versus me having to always type it in manually. Or if you can add a auto fill function when you type in some of the url and the app pulls up a list of urls that you visited in the past, that would help big time.

Does it’s job, is very glitchy. I downloaded this a month ago. When it works it’s great. Often when I change the voice it glitches and says “No active subscription “ when I purchased the upgrade. It’s pretty frustrating because I have to close and relaunch the app. I like it because I can take a screen shot of my digital books and it’ll read it. It can’t read my actual digital book because it requires a login and the app doesn’t support it yet.

Too Clean. I kind of misses any kind functionalities, but it’s cleaner and it actually works consistently now which is great. The one issue I do have which is just cosmetic that it doesn’t tell you how much time is left with the book which it used(I might be confused with another program) but it does not have the functionality. Also, I wish I had the ability to select text and then repeat that text over and over (memory aid). I also wish it had underlining and highlight functionality.

Great Alternative to Speechify. I was looking for an app to do exactly what this app does & of course the first app I saw was speechify. I was extremely excited to use it until I realize it’s functionalities were not very efficient. I was not able to easily set up the app and nor was I ever able to select documents from my files on my iPhone. But with voice reader app I have been able to do that all that! In addition, the price is significantly cheaper than Speechify. After your 3-day trail you are asked to pay $135 as a yearly bill & there were no monthly options available. As a college student myself, I find that very astonishing that speechify doesn’t work with people on a budget! This app deserves a lot more props for it service. I was able to secure an account for a one time payment of $8.99 or you can choose a monthly amount of $9.99. There are minor errors but I’m good with that. Still gets the job done! Highly recommend!

Incredible so far!. I was using Speechify before I found this app and I thought it was great, even though it had some problems. Many of those problems, that I thought were minor annoyances at the time, actually made it so that I couldn’t justify buying a premium subscription. I haven’t had any of those problems here. This app can be used in split screen, can play in the background while I take notes in a different app, works incredibly well with pdfs, even big ones (although gets easily thrown off by tables and graphs), and that has made it everything I couldn’t rely on Speechify for. That being said, I do have a suggestion. The developers could provide more options for speed, because it seems that there is a big market for that, and I’m also starting to feel like 2x is still too slow.

Crashing. I’m currently having an issue that if I’m not in the app listening like I move to another application the reading stops. I’m trying to figure out if this app is worth it as I have the pro version and mostly enjoy it but it does frequently crash as well as there isn’t really any support listed from the app. I also have a reasonably sized library of pdfs downloaded to the app and it crashes when I try to select one to listen to or even just scroll through… I’m not really sure how to contact support for these issues as there is no inner app selection for support..

Voice Aloud Pro. Had to give a review on this one because of the ability to: Import partial of book from one files, scan a whole book, editing the pages and allowing To continuously scan and add the next few pages in the same book. Scan partial of book, then add more later. So, it continues to let me add scans of say pg 1-20. Then, take a break. Then continue scanning pages 21-85. Can import scans of pages from other file sources. So, this app gets 5 stars in my book for helping me with this. I already have a difficult time concentrating having add that this app makes it so much easier for $8 or $8.99 whatever it was - one time payment and not making me pay $50-$100 per yr like these other apps do that do not include important features that some of us really need. Perfect for my use.... almost. I have been using this app for almost 3 years now and I have to say it has been the best 8$ i've spent in a long time. I work at a job where I do mundane tasks alone for a long period of time and this passed the time perfectly. I downloaded so many books and have read at least 500 novels on it. The only problem is there's no custom pronunciation feature. I enjoy books that have been translated from other languages and I have trouble hearing the names when it reads it out loud so I usually have to read those without this app and that's a little frustrating!! Apple has this feature for their text to speech I imagine it wouldnt be that hard to include and I would even be willing to pay for it so I could have that feature. Other than that I have no complaints and I think if you have many books, pdfs, etc. you dont have time to sit and actually read this is the best choice.

Good and Simple. I like to use TTS to listen to books when I can’t find audiobooks for them. Other TTS apps I have tried have been slow or crashed when I tried to use large PDFs with them. This one works just fine with no issues. And the interface is very simple, and the app doesn’t require you to login or anything which is something I like with apps. It has a limit for how much you can listen to for free, but it just requires you to watch a short ad to reset it every once in awhile. Overall, it’s a good app.

Fantastic so far!. I am a Doctoral student with ADD and Dyslexia, with a heavy reading workload. This has been a Godsend! I was originally looking at the other app in this field(speechify) but they are charging over $100! This app only charges $8.99 and it essentially does the same thing. I added more pages for $1.99 so now I have 1,800 pages for less than $12 bucks, and when I need more pages I pay another $1.99…GREAT DEAL and it also does exactly what it promises…I take pics of my texts books and then it reads out loud-Perfect! Also it does websites too, quite easily! Just copy and paste the url-thats it. Thank you so much for this app, and making it affordable so everyone with a learning disability now has a chance to “read” a book like everyone else!

Bait & Switch. I loved this app so much that I paid an $8.99 upgrade to get enhanced voices. Now, it turns out that that deal has changed … Now, they want $10 every month or my enhanced voices are gone? Actually, they are already gone. Talk about, “bait & switch”! This is the second app that’s done this! It just means that I must stop using this app, too! Hopefully, somebody else will make one I can buy outright (again?). Apple doesn’t appear to care or do anything about this kind of questionable activity? That lack of ethics on Apple’s part will weigh heavily on my mind when I consider upgrading my iPhone 12 Pro Max! I live on $700 a month (retired) so, I can’t afford to pay again with monthly rentals for apps that I previously bought, outright? It’s like having the mortgage company contact me to tell me that the home I’ve paid them for is now going to be their rental property for ever or else I must leave it? This can’t be legal! If Apple does this then I’m done with Apple, period … not that I’d have much choice. Steve must be spinning as the universe he created, tips to the dark side by greedy app developers?

Voices need a bit of tweaking. So for the most part, I love this app. I spent a long time at work doing very boring monotonous task, and this app allows me to listen to online literature anytime I want. It has a simple problem however. This app cannot handle ellipsis, and it sometimes cannot handle some words. There is one story I was listening to where This app could not pronounce the word “lunatic”. For some reason it would treat it as a bunch of symbols and characters. What is strange is that only the Fred voice can handle these things, but Fred sounds terrible. I would like the option to be able to purchase some better high-quality voices. On the upside I love that this is a one time purchase, and it handles, for the most part, webpages rather well. Trying to find a word to start on can be a bit finicky at times, but all and all this is a rather good app. I would recommend it over the others.

Exactly what I needed. Ok, this app is AMAZING!! I had some pretty dry content to read for my nursing continuing education so I wanted an app to scan and read the material to me. Not only did it do just that, I was able to keep engaged more than I would have without it. I finished 16 hours of content in a 24 hour period! Highly highly recommend since distraction is my main issue. This kept me right in track! Best part is, it only cost $8.99 for 800 scans (pages). You can also buy more pages for dirt cheap (like $1)

In love with Arthur! 💕. So it obviously has some kinks - like restarting from the beginning of a document, which can be really frustrating if it is something extremely long. I wish there was a bookmarking feature. BUT! I tried Speechify thinking okay, this is fancy with stats etc. However, the way the voice has to sync via internet (which isn't super good where I work) makes for a really unenjoyable listen. Arthur, my sweet darling love is by far the best voice to read to me ever. Even compared to the specify premium voices. I love it so much! I couldn't even begin to count the hours I use this app, which is nearly all day every day! Aside from the re-starting and lack of bookmarking, this app is wonderful!!

Disappointing. I put five stars so everyone to see. Don’t download this, it will force you to buy the 10$ subscription. It was the best reader app until a last week when the developer decided to put a limit to the free voices. Yeah, a limit to voices that you can find unlimited in other apps, the limit consist in watching an ad(which I don’t have problem with) every 15 minutes. BUT, when you’ve repeated this process 2 or 3 times the apps locks and you have to wait 30 MINUTES to use it again for free. Bad marketing move dear developer.

Alternative to speechify. I have been trying out different text to speech systems for students that need access to PDFs and other print materials in the school setting and have print disabilities. I tried Speechify first, but found that it didn’t read the words all that effectively even on PDFs that were non-scanned. This system is reading the words more clearly more accurately, and I can understand what’s being read out a much higher level.

Useful but with a ton of ads. This is a simple read aloud AP. The main thing I don’t like about it is the Advertisements which turn on every two or five minutes of reading. The Ap will not allow you to continue using the Ap unless you watch the entire advertisement. Some of these advertisements can be lengthy. If you shut down the Ap when it prompts you to watch an advertisement to continue then the Ap will prompt you to watch the advertisement to continue. It doesn’t automatically play advertisements. You have to select play advertisement to continue the read aloud function of the Ap. The other thing I don’t like about the Ap is the “begin reading here” function. The Ap will begin reading from the place you point but the chances of getting the first sentence correct is not 100 percent. The Ap will read a sentence: “Jack went up the hill,” as “J a c k went up the hill”.

This is for all people. Hi if you’re looking for an application that can read to you. This is the one I have dyslexia which is a reading disability this application allows me to take a picture of whatever I would like to read, and it would read it to me. No longer will I have to ask someone can read this for me no longer the embarrassment of going to a restaurant and not knowing what the menu will say. This application is so user-friendlyIt’s ridiculous. From the beginning to the end I have modified this application to work for me as a police officer. As a student in school. When I’m going out with my friends or my significant love ones. This application will change your life it would actually make you more independent than you usually are no more asking people for help get this application and change your life today.

Needs some attention, but good. Love the one time purchase, absolutely worth it as a college student. The only problem I have with it is when it adds extra characters to the start of each page. Most of the time, whenever the page is turned, the program will add and read aloud “a” and/or “-“ two to four times before starting on what the page actually says. As far as I can tell, there isn’t a way to edit this out of the page, though you are able to view the extra “a”s and “-“s in the contents menu of your book. If you’re anything like the average reader, this makes it kinda hard to follow the meaning of the sentence across the page turn when there’s a four to five second break with the voice repeating “a a hyphen hyphen a hyphen.” If you don’t mind it though, it’s a great app and much closer to five stars.

Lots of potential, small issues. With some tweaks this could be a go-to app but a couple of issues limit it to 3 stars for me. 1. There isn’t a share feature from other apps. The primary thing that I want to do is read from web pages and to do so I have to manually copy urls from a browser and paste them into this app. Extra and unnecessary steps but not a deal breaker since it does perform well. 2. If you are reading something lengthy that you won’t be able to finish in one session, you better hope you remember where you stopped because chances are you will have nothing but a blank screen when you try to return to the app. Definitely need a way to save what you are reading to be able to return to it (and also the option to discard when done). 3. Keeping links active once a page is processed for reading would be very helpful for multi page articles. You do have the option to return to a version of the original page but again, extra and unnecessary step. 4. Include an option to “edit” the pronunciation of words and this could easily become a 5 star app. Looking forward to future updates.

Not great. The voices are not super clear, the app had a hard time clicking to read a different section when the formatting of the file/ book I needed to read wasn’t straight down which made it frustrating constantly trying to get it to click the next section I needed to read. Lastly, after a few months of using the pro + premium voices, I went to switch my membership to the basic pro plan thinking it was a one time charge for this feature but it turns out they charged me $8.99 for a one-time use and I’m gonna have to pay again to use it for the month and they have no app support/ anyone to talk to for questions.

Good value. I already use the iPhone built in screen reader through accessibility, I'm used to the voices, but unfortunately it's really buggy and skips passages, which is why I'm looking into this app. It's a great value with just a one time purchase to read files and it reads websites for free. It uses the same voices that my iPhone uses which I'm already used to and enjoy. The only issue I'm having is that the pause between sentences is too long and it sounds kind of choppy. Increasing the speaking rate doesn't really help. If there was a way to customize that our just fix that it would be 5 stars easily. Compared to the ridiculously over priced subscription services on here, this simple app is a great deal.

If your not willing to go premium, it’s scummy…. The app is great! Everything works as should. But if your planning to stay free to use, have fun. I don’t know the specific amount of time but if you don’t go premium the app will go, “you’ve reach your free reading limit.” So you either pay premium or watch an ad, and that just loops. Hoping to take screenshots and read it out loud to you? Sorry… you can only take 15 photos….. but hey— if you Just buy the premium version and you can take unlimited! Those are the only other tools I used before uninstalling so idk if there’s anything else but still. If your maybe a student or someone who just needs it here or just not willing to pay in general don’t get this app. Sadly idk what other app would be better.

Amazing voice and reads pictures!!!. My all time favorite because when I can’t find a book to transfer to the app, I can literally make key own book by taking pictures of it and the app amazingly is able to read every word even in not so great pictures! A must have for people like me who just can’t read and comprehend (super ADD)

Needs some work. I have the “pro” version of this app, which I paid $8.99 for. That is supposed to come with “background playback” which has been inconsistently available to me. Often, the audio will stop if my phone screen turns off or I switch apps, which makes this app essentially unusable. It’s also frustrating that there’s no way to bookmark audio. The app is constantly losing my place in multichapter EPUB files and I have to browse for a while to figure out where I left off. The standard (non-premium) voices are more robotic than many other free voices available on other apps. If the developers improved these voices or even offered a non-subscription premium voice to buy for a reasonable cost, I’d raise my review. I’d appreciate if there were more settings available for voices, such as pitch and sentence pause. I’d like more customization to make the voices more lifelike, if they can’t be improved globally. If I hadn’t paid for the Pro version, I’d be pleased enough with the quality of this as a free app. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for some updates that improve its features.

Majorly disappointed.. I purchased the subscription that’s $10 a MONTH because the premium voices are so much better and I’ve been using this app daily while working to listen to all my favorite books. I already felt like that was quite a lot to ask for an app but felt it would be worth it considering how much I’m using it. I went to use it today and found out there’s apparently a character limit for the premium voices, so I’m paying for a subscription I can’t even use for another two weeks now. I’m incredibly disappointed because the premium subscription option is clearly a scam. I shouldn’t be blocked from using the features I’m PAYING FOR. If I could give this zero stars I would.

Exactly what I’m looking for. Please never delete this app or remove the one time purchase option.. This is great! It’s exactly what I’m looking for in a text to speech reading app. Sure it might have some issues here and there, but it’s perfect! Unlimited file storage, easy chapter navigation, you can read online pages, app still works when offline (which is perfect if you love to travel). But the best part of all is that you have the option to only do a one time purchase or a subscription purchase! So many apps are over priced or requires subscriptions that are not worth it (or even work off-line), and with having a one time purchase option it’s great for those of us who don’t make much money.

Free version. I’m unable to purchase the paid version. I don’t mind ads if a program is reasonable and we’ll done. This program is excellent in most ways. Ads are to the point it seems a pain. Understand that I will watch many more ads on any program if I enjoy using it. Thirty minute wait rather than an ad option? That’s a dealbreaker. Kind of like changing channel on a station and never going back. The paid version may be wonderful but if the free version gets frustrating, why would I trust the paid version? Maybe if I can afford it someday I’ll try it. But probably not because I’m not using it much. Once it puts me on 30 minute wait I leave.

A little disappointed ….. thx for the fix. The app is working great again thank you I really appreciate it cause I use your app all the time. When I first got this app I really enjoyed it I even payed for the pro version to get rid of the adds. It was perfect but recently the app has had a problem we’re if I received a call when using it, it would crash. Not a huge problem I was putting up with it but the latest problem is just to much. The app suddenly started to pause whatever I am listening too and telling me that a have reached my free listening limit. Then it gives me the option to listen to an add or purchase the pro version. I already paid for the pro version so all I have had to do so far is click the option to restore purchase and continue listening. But it’s a pain I paid for it in the first place to get rid of interruptions not to be reminded every couple minutes that I have it. Worst of all is that I tried to report the problem but all the options available would lead me to the message ( you don’t have purchases that match the option you’ve selected ) so I came here to rant cough cough …. complain. Anyway if the problem is fixed I will happily change my rating to 5 stars cause it would be worth it, please fix it.

Love the Enhanced Voice and…. This could be greatly improved if there was a pause between paragraphs instead it reads like one huge chunk of text which isn’t the way we read. We need to know when one block is complete so we are ready to move onto the next chunk of information. I love the enhanced voice capabilities and would love to continue using the app while supporting the creators. I would love to hear if this update is in the works.

Good Application. This is a really good app that reads words allowed. I’m using the application to read PDF books. It is working very well. It does a good job of reading books that may have two columns on one page with tables, charts and graphs. It does a good job of reading the left column of words first and then the right column of words. It will read the charts and graphs also, so if you don’t want that read, all you have to do is press on the next section you want read. Its a life saver. Also, it works in multi task mode, so you can have PDF reader pulled up, highlighting within your PDF file and making notes while the app is reading to you (e.g. left side of screen has the voice app reading and the right side has the actual PDF book open) One other application I tried would not allow this, which was odd. For only about $8, I say this application is a bargain. I’ve already used the application to read hours of text to me. It is definitely saving me some eye strain. Word pronunciation is pretty decent, but I would follow along as the text reads to you, just Incase the reader pronounces some words awkwardly. Overall, a really good application.

The best. I have valuated a number of these reader apps, and I found that this was the best. At least for me. It does exactly what I needed to without being annoying. I’m using it primarily to read PDFs and it works great. I love that I can be in the background and still play and will resume wherever I have left off even if I go to another PDF or a book. Great app. Thanks!

Great Features, Missing One. This app has a useful and simple interface, one important feature that it is missing is the ability to save and then play back multiple webpages. It would be nice to be able to make a kind of short playlist of webpages to be set up and then listen to as a set, versus having to add one webpage, listen, and then add another. Without that ability being able to listen to webpages for extended periods of times, e.g. while driving or working out is prohibitive within this app.

Great app, just missing one thing. The app is great for listening to long web novels that have lots of chapters and no audiobook. I just wish that whenever you opened the table of contents within a book it would open with the current chapter in the center. Since I switch between reading on kindle and listening to it in this app it would be nice not to have to scroll down 1000+ chapters to go to the new chapter every time.

Kinda broken. Great in theory, once you get over some of the idiosyncrasies of how it reads certain things. But there are some super basic elements here that are just busted. When you pause from the lock screen, it often doesn’t work. When you hit play from the lock screen or an earbud, usually you have to do it at least twice before it registers. Sometimes it’ll inexplicably play from two spots at once, making it incomprehensible. Fixing these issues would make this app immeasurably better. EDIT: now it often just randomly crashes and necessitates a full restart. It will also rewind by a few pages after this, so you have to hunt for your spot. Not worth it, look elsewhere.

Really Useful. I read a lot of transformative/online books and it’s very useful to be able to listen to them in the car, when driving, etc. due to being able to download the pdfs and then have VoiceAloudReader go through them. I also like that I can read them on my own if I wish to not listen and that I can choose to skip parts. I do, however, have a recommendation because of the many books I read and their different fandoms/groupings. Perhaps there could be a way to put a folder or a few into the library section? That way it would be easier to choose a horror book versus a comedy or such.

It is just ok. I can’t read the clipboard anymore. It has been one or two months since I bought it and one week ago doesn’t load the clipboard anymore. I uninstalled it and nothing. There is no way to fix it and there is no support to at least troubleshooting. I can’t delete books from the library. The reading speed goes up to 2x. I mean. It reads to you but it is very limited. I need to find an app that reads faster and let me use the clipboard. I bought it because I needed to save time with this feature and I can’t use it anymore.

Amazing App - just needs one update. This app is honestly great. I highly recommend it because it can read anything doc with no problem. It’s perfect for supplementing books that are not available in audio format. With that said, my only recommendation / request is that the developers add a rewind 15 seconds options so you can easily listen to content that you might have missed. The app currently makes it difficult to rewind a few seconds because it’ll start reading at the beginning of a page or sometimes random paragraph. Just a little critique, but I still highly recommend!

App has some great functions but serious drawbacks. I like the fact that it continues playback even when you unplug headphones, and then ‘play from here’ and ‘previous position’ buttons are great too. I also like the clipboard read and website read as well as the versatility to read all formats. However it will jump around a lot. This is a serious problem for regular readers; if you are in the middle of chapter 6 it might jump back to chapter 2 randomly and you won’t notice until the text starts to sound familiar. This problem will repeat over and over again in certain texts.

Perfect to help with Reading. I was looking for an app that would let me hear books. I love to read! But I have trouble with my eyesight. So, I can’t read for long now. So getting through a book took forever. I was happy to find that there was also a one time payment option as opposed to monthly. Like all TTS software, the app does have trouble with a word or two sometimes. But it’s not heard to figure out what’s meant. Thanks for the app!

Inexpensive but powerful. Simple easy to use. I was a little worried when I got it that it would have some hidden fee or something. It’s $8 for the pro but that doesn’t include premium voices which is a monthly subscription. So the voices do sound a little robotic but it does read a html/pdf really well. To me it seems like it’s worth the $8 for the pro and not worth the subscription. I wish applications would honestly stop charging subscriptions for products. But this one really doesn’t force you to get the premium so that’s good! If you’re looking for a simple screen reader that it good for websites/pdfs and can be used in the background. I think this is a great app!

Does what I need it to. For the most part I’m happy with this app, I got it after iOS removed the part of the text to speech feature that allowed iBooks to read books to you. I enjoy listening to books while I work, and this app allows me to listen to one’s I download from the web. My biggest complaint about the app is that it can’t access the iBooks library, so the hundreds of titles I have there I can’t listen to. Should the developer add a plugin to the app to access the iBooks library, I will likely increase my rating.

The best voice reader out there;). First of all I would like to say thank you!! very much for creating this app. It help me a lot. I didn’t expect so much but I’m speechless it was really awesome app. Way better that “ Speechify apps” I downloaded it 1st and pay the annual fee but is not working good. If I know that there’s an app like this I would never download that other apps. This app is way way better that any app! It easy to use no hassle. Sooooo very highly recommended;) I love it love itttt

There’s a little issue…. Overall the app is great and better when it comes to prices, but there is an issue when uploading a Google Doc that has a Title and Subheading. For some reason it only reads the title and like half of the subheading and then it skips down the page. I tried everything and it still does it. I shouldn’t have to edit my file the voice should just read every single word.

Just made the one-time purchase yesterday and not the app is crashing. I love using this app. It’s made my college readings much easier to get through. I made the one-time purchase just yesterday and now the app won’t work. When I try to change the voice or increase speed, it just crashes. Please fix this! Making the purchase was supposed to be a worthwhile investment initially but it’s definitely not if I can’t use the app.

Does the job. Overall decent. Couple of basic quality of life changes. The rate needs to increase in increments of .1 not.5. I don’t know who could ever understand something at a rate of 5. Second the Web reader needs two basic features. Zoom and search text. Zoom for the oddly small font and search text for long documents so that you don’t have to search manually when telling it to play from here. Otherwise I’m quite pleased it loads the body content quite well and plays it just fine.

Finally! PDF on my iPad!. I read A LOT of articles. As a returning student and lifelong learner, I am always discovering opportunities to learn something new. And, I am a big fan of reading them aloud. But, I was stuck reading pdf files from my laptop, because I could not find an acceptable solution for the volume of reading that I do. So, time passed and I decided to try this app again. I thought it could only read epub files, but lo and behold I was able to pull in a pdf file saved to the cloud on my iPad. And, the icing on the cake is that after it read the article, it informed me that I was now receiving 10 standard voices for free and unlimited use! I am thrilled!! This is my go to app from now on.

Helpful and understandable. The free voice is not to automated and easily understood. Once you reach the reading limit they allow you to watch an add to continue instead of just cutting you off. You can also take photos and they read from their. I’ve had apps where all it could read was off of doc or pdf; this had made it a lot easier on me.

Easy to use and it works. Awesome app. Easy to use and it works and makes the reading and comprehension of documents really easy for me.

So far so good. The voice part is very good but sometimes I just want to read the text as well. The font size increases the title but the body of the ePub doesn’t seem to change much. Also in dark mode the Text is hard to read, please include some option to increase text brightness.

Horrible voiceover. It works but I cannot stand the sound of the voices.

Is best. I was looking for same apps but after trying so many.this is the best and ezy to use

Too easy. So easy to use it’s a pleasure!

Best on the market. Simple to use, quick loading time (even for large files), voices read text correctly and you can clearly understand. I paid for the premium version and don’t regret it at all. This is the best text reader on the market. I highly recommend

I’ve paid and it only read one page? WANT MY MONEY BACK. I’ve paid and it only read one page? WANT MY MONEY BACK

App is good but so over in app purchases and subscription. As an academic, I have to read a lot of texts every day. If they’re not too heavy, this app is a great way to “read” in the car or on a run. I have paid for Pro and think it was good value. I’d love it to be a little more intelligent in not reading headers and all the text in graphs and tables. However, I’m not giving it 5 stars because it’s SO frustrating that I can’t just buy a full version of this app with one payment. There’s an in-app payment for Pro, then what I assume is a subscription for Pro+ (it’s unclear in-app, which doesn’t help my trust). Some of the features (more voices) of Pro + sound like yes, they’re worth another $10 or even $20 on top of the Pro price, especially if I use the app a lot as a result, but Urgh another 3 day trial I have to remember to cancel or another subscription that adds up with the others I’ve been forced into. Please, just let me pay a fair price once!

Reading. Does not read correctly cannot understand

Ouss ouss best one. Hey thing ever so happy with it. it did cost $12.99 but it gave me a chance to see if it was the right one for me and I only wanted it to read a PDF from internet copy and paste to my iPhone it’s a 7 and yeah press the plus to add a book then press PDF I select the one you want

Not so great at it. I took a picture of the article in a newspaper there was a picture in the Center but the article wraparound it but it was skipping from left column to right column and so it made no sense I thought it would help my husband who can’t read very well but this isn’t good at all.

It is a good application. Helps with my reading.. A very good application.

I’m liking this app. For some reason my not so awesome kindle reader won’t text to speech for a particular text book. In swoops this app to the rescue. Thank you.

Fonctionne.

Bref rien d’interessant.

Good app. It does the job and it’s fine

very helpful. saving my academic life

Disappointed. Very disappointed in the speed of processing in this app. By the time it scans my text book my class will be graduated.

Good point. Ease of adding a book

Ads ruin it. Uninstalled immediately when I realized the reading would be interrupted by ads every couple of pages. Makes it impossible to get into the story. The robotic voice that doesn’t follow punctuation is tough enough to follow and the ads ruin it completely.

Résolution de problème. Impossible d’installer cet apps sur mon téléphone. J’espère pouvoir intégrer cette application payante à mon téléphone SVP. Pour l’avoir essayé à plusieurs reprises et l’avoir apprécié. Merci.

Es muy buena. Mis fácil su uso

Good and handy. It is a good and handy app

The absolute worst. Awful app it is completely dumb, thought this would be better than the other dumb readings apps but it is almost worse.

Je viens de le Dow loader. On verra

Horrible. Don't even bother downloading it, it reads without bothering about punctuation. You end up with phrases that make no sense. The scanning feature is also messed up wether you're on tablet or phone. Sometimes it can even end up skipping whole sentences. It will take you less time reading the book than waiting for the ads to play. Horrible.

Génial. Vois de synthèse mais clair

Whats is this. This is a really bad app so sad

Gave This a Chance…. Gave this a chance and I love it I don’t have the same issues of the app not being truly open to different styles of books and not always working nor flowing exactly like this app. I’m enjoying it.

Requires you to watch ads to listen for free. Great reader but not free to use, there are also different levels of voices but the basic voice still requires you to watch an ad every couple minutes.

New voices not working.. Please get this fixed

Demo. I tried the app and it could read a single pdf or webpage I tried. Waste of time.

Great when it works. It’s very handy to listen to a book when doing other things however the app keeps crashing after about 30 minutes of use. Please fix!

Great app just one problem. The new voices that you have added for some reason can’t be selected for using, even after paying for the service. Please look into it.

Good app. This app is good but They need to fix the pause

Great to listener learners. This app is my best tool to keep myself focus on my studies

Fonctionnel. Fonctionne très bien, mais une pub par page si vous prenez la version gratuite

Camera. The app needs some camera work

Amazing app. This made my life easier specially how to pronounce words properly. Very helpful I. Improving reading and vocabulary

Way over priced.. $12 a month to get voices that are actually understandable. Meh. Maybe for the app total. Subscription is way over priced.

i paid for the pro already. it says i havent paid for it

:). Love the app helps me out with my dyslexia a lot

Love it but….. You should get new voices! Because these ones aren’t the greatest

Uninstalled. Now you can only read for about 3 minutes at a time and then need to wait for 30 minutes. So greedy.

Alright. Good app but didn’t last me 10 min before they wanted payment. Voices are robotic too

Awesome!. Literally works better than another app that I was about to pay $119/year for. My PDF was formatted in such a way that no other reading apps were able to pick up the content, but this app picks it up. Thank you to whoever made this app so accessible ✨ amazing

Une lecture apaisée. La voix, le rythme et l’intonation sont exceptionnellement proche de la réalité (la voie humaine)lors de la lecture en langue française. Vivement recommandé

Highly Recommend. As a second year university student, the amount of reading assigned is intense. I get through articles much easier with this app. I recommend it to many of my classmates.

A little glitchy, but relatively reliable. Sometimes hard to get out to play from where you want, but it works

Croatian Serbian?. It says that supports Croatian , Serbian, Macedonian , language but it doesn’t ?

Too expensive… alternatives are cheaper.. They have two versions… one where you have the same voice but no adds for a one time fee. The other is a pay per month… the costs for one month costs more than the one time fee.

It is user friendly.. I love this app.

An idea. I love the app and was wondering if there could be a way to save the pages from one Device to another. I have everything on my phone but I wish it could also be on my tablet.

Started great, ended bad. The app was my favourite at first but the voices you pay extra for are limited text, I run out fairly quickly. There might not be ads but once I run out of the premium voice, it closes the app like crazy. I paid for two months and I will not be paying a third.

Love it, feature request. I love this app! It is simple and read text that no other app could. Request to add functionality for pausing audio using the physical buttons on Apple earphones (they are normally able to pause something that’s playing).

Great app. Five star for this app, it meet my expectation!

I use this app all the time, here are a few bugs.. So, I’m obsessed with this app. It’s a life saver. Fantastic. I use it for like 10+ hours every day. One major bugs I’ve noticed is that 9 times out of 10, when it reads the word “wow” the speed changes to 0.5x and can’t be changed without changing the reading spot. Also, I’d like to be able to have a settings menu for voice and speed on the Home Screen. That way I don’t need to adjust it every time I open a new book. Other than that, good gravy, keep chugging.

An app with huge potential. I’ve been looking for an app to scan and read my college text books. Each book is 600+ pages, this app will save me from the nightmare of reading multiple books. I have one huge dislike that prevents me from using this app. One of my text books is divided into two columns. The left column must be read first then the right column. The voice reader will jump around the page making it difficult to understand anything. Please adjust the voice reader to be compatible with different types of books.

Have to purchase more than once?. I purchased this app and it’s super helpful because it reads my books for school with helps a lot since I have a lot of material how ever I downloaded the app in my iPad as well as my iPhone since it’s the same iCloud it downloads on both at the same time and I bought the pro version and it works on my iPad but when I use it on my Phone it ask me to buy it again. Why do I have to buy it twice ?

Had To Upgrade. There are free options out their including this app but after browsing for 7 months this app is the best. Some places want a $150 yearly subscription. This app just wants a $10 one time fee. You get a lot of benefits including more pdfs and more sounds and background audio. Honestly the best app for tts. Don’t get speechify get this!

No#1 app for text to speech reader. I have extensively used this app for hearing novels the only downside I think of is Adblock doesn’t work on browser it used to work before but due to recent update iOS or app not sure it stop working hope you can add your own Adblock maybe into the app. Thank you.

Purchase. I purchased the one time package and couple of months now and the app is telling me I have reached my free reading limit. Also there is no other way to get help. There is no way to have the app read a chart horizontally or vertically if the text was written as such. It is very confusing when that happens. Help would be nice. Can someone contact me so I won’t have to pay again as I have already paid the one time purchase.

Read aloud. Excellent reading ability some flaws but not that many that calls a problem with understanding easy to use. Speechify I can’t understand it The voices are not natural sounding .And the cost is expensive. The cost of this app is confusing I am trying to get a low costAnnual fee

Works really well but.... This app works really well! If there was any suggestions I’d make it would be to allow ppl to add a photo as the cover and not just a title. It would also be nice if we could rename the title after we’ve named it. Another thing is a variety of voices maybe. Other than that this app does a great job of actually reading the text off of pictures. Really great app!

App must be improved. The app has potential but there are some issues in my opinion : I paid the $8.99 and there’s only one voice available for Spanish “Paulina” which is great but I think this option should come also with a male voice, I think it is fair to have a male voice in Spanish for the $8.99 option. Also there’s a huge glitch in French; for hyphenated words the app only reads the first word, making the app useless for a language like French in which those kind of words are very common.

Wonderful Resource But…... this app has saved my academic career in higher education. I once struggled to find audio books that were not textbooks, now this helps. one thing I can’t figure out is, I have the books on the app on my iPad but I am not able to see them on the app on my phone. Can this be fixed?

Fanfic. I have a hard time reading due to my eyes periodically giving out due to a serious chronic pain condition. So many apps keep updating and become more inaccessible. I hope this one is different so I can keep reading my silly AO3 Stories in comfort

Good app to have. This app has one time payment and subscription options. The subscription is pretty useless for premium AI voice. If it premium features are one time payment then more people would purchase it. Also it can continue to scan documents into one file, it saves time compare to other apps.

Closes in the middle of reading. I updated to iOS 16.3 Sometimes when I am listening to my books, it just stops I try to restart and it closes the program. When I open again it is just fine. Been using this program for a long time, daily use. Hopefully an update for 16 is in the near future. I’m on iPhone 14 Pro Max. Listening via Bluetooth over ear buds. Thanks

Good app, premium is not unlimited. I like the app because it's super helpful with reading material with nicer-sounding readers. The problem is that there is limits to how much you can use the specialized voices. I can't add money to fix it, and I have to wait til the next month. :/

Come on seriously 😐. Copy an paste 🤦🏼‍♂️is this not year 2020 I should not 👂 hear the audio voice over text read out semicolon, dots, and punctuations.. come on developers ( create, find the problem an become the solution) in the year 2020 my finger should touch on any text online, email, or book and my second touch should select “read” and at a comfortable speech rate. I should hear 👂 ONLY the text. semicolon, dots, and punctuations should impact how it read; not being READ! I really don’t understand how this technology is still in the dark ages 🤷🏻‍♂️

Please consider this feature. I love this app, but please consider adding a feature where we can edit the font size. Some of us, I would imagine, do not have the best eyesight, so it is pretty hard to read along when the text is so small. I really hope you see this and consider it! Thank you so much! I would definitely rate this app five stars if you could edit this please~

It could be better. I love that it reads a website well, but it’s constantly crashing and it doesn’t keep track of the last place you left off. If you’re reading something long you have to consistently keep scrolling to where you were. Voices are good, speed options are nice, but it’s frustrating sometimes

Amazing. Use this to read stories online. However I don’t understand why the pro version has a character limit? I’d even pay extra to increase it. I hit the 1 million character cap before the month is over constantly.

Not what I expected. After downloading the app and opening it for the first time, a whole new browser opened up. I had to log into my school’s website to use the read webpage feature because the pdf files were not selectable through the my files folder in the app. I selected read page and the reader began to read all the html coding for the page. This was not what I was expecting from this app. Unfortunately, I have deleted this app.

Impressed first time user. I’ve looked for many apps to read my documents to me and this is literally the ONLY app that has no bugs and doesn’t have annoying pop ups every second!!!! Thank you so much

Please fix your app. Ever sense the first few updates the app will pause at a . Then resume is talking but as soon as it sees another dot ill pause then go again and then it will get to the point he app crashes then it will lag my phone out

Excellent app and support. VoiceAloudReader has been the most reliable app for me to listen to articles and imported books, both for work and leisure, for years. Recently when I encountered a minor issue in the app, the developer, Marcin, helped me resolve the issue in an impressively responsive manner. I appreciate his considerate support and the product he produces.

The best option of many. I’ve downloaded 6 possible good apps for reading my PDF files and Voice Aloud Reader is the best one. Easy to use, easy to import files, natural reading voices, multiple free voice options. I’m enjoying it.

I really like this. Hi, I have dyslexia and this means I can read some of my favorite books. I would really suggest it I have already started scanning some books that I haven’t been able to read yet because of my dyslexia.

Good app. This is a great app I got a lot of reading done with this app but after like 13 pages you need to start a trial and I didn’t want to pay so I looked for more app readers and like they were all the same so if you want this app I suggest having Money to pay for the trail but on the other hand it is a great app 4 ⭐️

Best app I’ve ever paid for!!. I’m a slow reader so I get unmotivated to acquire knowledge through reading. This app has bridged the gap for me so I can read books in a timely fashion and most importantly retain the information. THANK YOU MUCH! I’m so happy I found this! Praise God for technology that bridges the gap in the things we struggle with! ❤️

Highlighting option got removed and no bookmark options. I love this app and use it regularly. But there are no bookmark option and sometimes the pages are messed up when I come back to the app and after getting out or pausing it. There was an option to highlight and take notes, which I really appreciated but I can’t see it anymore. Please bring it back.

I love this apppppppp🫶🫶🫶🫣😘😘😘🤪🤪🤪. I would totally recommend this because once I was a very sad child because I had so any missing assignments because I have reading problems and I could never focus but now heaven has sent me a thought 💭 “What if there’s an app to read to me?” YES THERE IS SO DOWNLOAD THIS RIGHT NOW YOU SWAGGY PERSON I HOPE YOU HAVE AN AMAZING DAY

New voice deduction. I paid for this application earlier this year to read for me as I tire easily. It works for the most part but it would be great if you didn’t have to copy/paste websites links. I like the application except for, now there is a Bob voice advertising every time I use this reader application. This is why I deducted one star.

Just one more thing…. So.. it’s quite embarrassing but I got this app so i can have Reddit posts read to me. Works wonderfully! Except the text is really tiny.. I’m not sure how to change it but otherwise super user friendly, sleek, and simple. 😊

It could be better. I would give it 5 stars, but my website was black and the text was white. The problem is with the words being white the bright yellow marker made it impossible for me to read. I also have another problem. It’s either too fast or too slow. The voices aren’t able to pronounce everything correctly. It throws me off if I’m just listening(typically when I’m cooking or cleaning). This app also says almost everything that’s in the text such as certain punctuations. I would be listening and hear,”The dog ran outside comma but ran back in because ...”

Disappointed. If I could do it I would give this app negative stars. I have never been so disappointed in my life. Biggest waste of money. Buying the pro version is a scam. I thought the pro version was supposed to have more features. I can’t get a pdf to open. It may work ok on photos. But forget it if you want pdf. They shouldn’t include pdf in their meta data. Absolutely don’t waste your money if you want to read digital pages. The only added feature with the pro version is you get more readings. Just do the demo from that you will realize this app is a waste of drive space on your phone.

Love it… but just one thing. I love the app in generally because it helps me with finish a book faster for an assignment I’m almost finished with but what made me frustrated about the app and why I have it a 3 star review is because the voices keep mispronouncing words in the book and skipping to the other lines of the book before reading the lines they are supposed to read

Cool app. I've always loved this app because it is WAY more affordable (and versatile), but it just got even better with the most recent update. The ability to intelligently skip margin notes until the end of page is just what this app needed to go from amazing to practically perfect. Thanks!!!

Perfect for my intended purpose. This app is just perfect for my intended purpose of reading out the clipboard. As a retired asst prof and preacher, I continue to learn by cutting / pasting excerpts from books I read. My learning and retention are greatly enhanced by this app. So many thanks to the company and developers. God bless you all.

Randomly starts spelling out words. I thought this was a good solution for me being able to listen to long pdfs while doing housework or driving but it randomly begins spelling out whole paragraphs which is hella annoying. I can’t figure out what triggers it to do this. It’s also hard to get it to change voices for some reason.

DON’T GET THIS!!!. I have ADHD so it’s hard for me to do and I have to finish a book for my book report due tommorow and this stupid app is making pay to use it. You only get a few pages read to you until you have to pay or wait until the next day. Not to mention the voice sound like a stupid robot and skips a bunch of lines and can’t understand anything. And surprise surprise you have to pay for the normal voice. 100% don’t recommend this app.

Good app. It’s a good app I’m able to scan the pages in my book and it reads them to me.. the auto detection.. just no, it’s not good. When you go to adjust the scan, if your finger goes too far to the left it shuts the whole thing down and you have to rescan the page. There should be a continuous scanning option, scanning a chapter is really time consuming.

Read To Me. I have uploaded all of my ex-lovers love letters (not the ones they wrote me because I didn’t really get any) but the ones I wrote to them. Whether they were not actually given to them or if I got them back - it’s great to relive some of my biggest emotions of my life. It’s great because I can finally get through the letters (since I am not the one doing the reading) and can cry with my eyes closed - the way you are supposed to. I wasn’t sure if the app would read the whole document or just the page at hand (which some reader apps do) and this app just keeps going page after page. It’s amazing. Thank you. Fondly, Willy

Pretty good, but it’s not for me. As others have noted, the standard voices can sound pretty artificial - some more than others, but you’d probably get used to it pretty quickly. For me, the larger problem is that the app won’t copy or read books from the macOS Books library. I’m guessing that’s due to Apple’s famous love of sandboxing and proprietary file formats to lock us in to the Apple Universe, but that results in this app being useless to me.

Barely usable but still wants you to pay $. It wont read a full page this morning without saying I reached my free reading limit. I won’t pay the subscription because it won’t read the page correctly. When it reads it jumps around the page randomly to read sentence fragments, but it is usable if you want to keep retaking a photo of the page your trying to read.

Selecting image problem. I love the app but my only pet peeve is how you can only select one image at a time from the camera roll. As well as the cropping issue which is time consuming to use since it crops the image itself before I can. I always have to reset the crop myself since these images don’t need to be cropped anyway. Sometimes I need to here my biophysics book while I take notes and I don’t have the time to crop every image and select each page one at a time.

LIFE SAVER FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS. The app is really simple to use. Could use some aesthetic work but it’s very functional and to the point. The scan document feature works great. Really handy for listen to assigned class readings when you need to do other things such as commuting.

Works but not the best. This apps mechanics is not amazing by any means. When scanning a book, it takes so much time for the camera to line up correctly, and even when doing so it reads incorrectly, and skips in lines. While this app does work, I would rather you pick out much better apps where the technology is more developed and you don’t have to work so hard to read a simple piece of text.

Actually helpful reading tool. I’ve just downloaded this app, and it has already served its purpose x10. I can listen to my pdf files while my phone is off; and all voices were given to me for free! I will now be trying the premium voices; whilst I continue my listening.

Good app. It does not have huge features like some other apps, but it works good and price is cheaper then what people are charging today. A lot cheaper , I do not want to pay for someone’s house, when buying an app. I would buy if you are looking for a simple app to read files and does not break the bank.

Great so far. Today I downloaded multiple apps to help me get through the heavy reading load that I have to do for school, whilst working full time. This one is the best. I like it better than speechify. Speechify didn’t translate the pdf as well as this app did. FYI I tested out the premium versions as they all came with a trial period.

Blows speechify away. This app seriously kills the competition. You can upload your own books, manage the reading speed and location, it is absolutely what I was looking for

Good enough!. I’m in law school so I have a lot of reading to get done each night. The accuracy needs work but it’s livable. I wish it would go faster though!! 2x is probably closer to 1.25. I’ve never dared to try and listen at base speed. 😅 worth their eight bucks because I use it so much but not much more. If you need to listen to a textbook in the car without paying $300 then go ahead and buy.

Absolutely amazing and as long as you watch ads it’s free. I’ve got adhd. Books and online novels are a pain to read for my. It take 2 hours to read a chapter of one of my favorite books but this app reads the whole dang thing to me as long as I watch the ads every chapter or two. Honestly never had a better experience

Loosing stars was a 5 but now 2. I have had the app for a while now and I have to say it’s been going downhill. I’m having to delete and restore weekly and starting today I’ve had to restore purchase 3 times and it’s not letting me have in the background so every time my display shuts off so does my book. I can relate to everyone who says that voices are bad but for under $10 I’m not expecting much.
