Totally “free”. Unless of course you’d like to use it like a normal human being. Garbage.

Happy/Sad. I love this app and the various selections of music they make available. I use it often on my Mac Mini computer. Now I can use it again on my iPhone 6s.

Missing critical features… like PAUSE. Cannot pause, skip forward or backward. No Lock Screen controls. Cannot get rid of developers suggestions. Too bad.

Excellent!. Such a nice alternative to TuneIn. Clutter free design and the feeling they are trying to make the user happy rather than constantly monetizing their customers.

Great app for car/commuting. I lose reception to my local jazz station on my commute but this app keeps me tuned in. Love being able to cycle through my favorites using prev/next buttons on my steering wheel.

Potential. Well, there is potential here. But they’ve launched with a half-finished product. Way too many stations are missing, and when you do find them there are oddities that just aren’t there in TuneIn: there are two KUOW streams listed. One has the correct logo, but won’t play anything. The other plays but doesn’t have a logo. For KEXP there are three streams available, but no info about their quality. Of the several stations I’ve found in Israel only a couple show up. In their BBC listing they are missing BBC Radio 4, although you can find it through search. If a station doesn’t have a logo you can change it between a serious of rather ugly logos, which is a one-way street of clicking through the options. Why not give an option to just show the station’s call letters? Or, even better, to upload a picture? And when you find a station you have to start playing it before you read any information about it. Really annoying for looking for new stations. If I see improvements by the end of the trial I’ll likely subscribe. Iconfactory definitely has the track record and skill to make this happen. I would love an app that would allow me to simply start my favorite stations without shoving a bunch of ads at me. Ironically, I’m leaving TuneIn to come to here for the same reason I left Twitterific to head to Tweetbot: I paid for the pro version of TuneIn and am now bombarded with ads, like I was with Twitterific. Luckily, Iconfactory seems to be handling things better with Triode and it all seems fair to me. One feature I’d love to see is landscape support on the phone. When you plug it in and prop it somewhere the phone is in landscape, not portrait. It amazes me that more music and clock apps don’t support landscape. Please add this.

Fraud!. Don’t buy this app,it states A trial but does not show up in the subscription page to cancel. This is fraud Apple will not refund it. please assist Apple stated talk to the developer

Great app for radio in CarPlay. I got a CarPlay head unit for my car and the built in radio on it is trash. This app has the best sound quality out of the few apps I’ve tried, even some of the bigger names. There’s only maybe 1-2 stations I’m missing that I regularly listen to in my area but I’ve found some others from across the country I like more honestly- I know this is a licensing issue so no worries. Really like the option to buy the app outright especially when it seems everything is subscription based nowadays, and the price is very fair. Thanks!!

Well Designed and Functional. I just wanted a simple internet radio app with Shortcuts integration to easily launch certain stations. This app is well-designed and functional. One request: Please let us save custom artwork for stations as a premium subscriber.

Great app. Finally there’s a simple, lightweight radio app! CarPlay integration works great. Would love to be able to rearrange my favorite stations though.

Looks great, needs improvement in car. The app looks great but needs some improvement when used as a background in-car radio: 1. I have my car connected via Bluetooth. Sometimes, when I start the car, the app will start playing, but more often not. The needed functionality is seemingly there, but not always working. 2. When I pass tunnels or other regions with sketchy reception, the app stops playing, but it’s not resuming when I get the signal back. There’s a need to restart the audio (while driving). This is different from a regular radio that won’t naturally work in tunnels, but always resumes when in surface. 3. There’s a dialog box “can’t play that station” that is most definitely can’t be seen when the app is in the background (when e.g. navigation in foreground). 4. Sometimes I leave the car when the radio is not playing (stopped by itself) and walk 20 meters away. When I return (Bluetooth established) the app starts playing again. 5. The car “play” button sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. At times I can hear the chimes (great idea btw) but when I bring the app in the foreground it’s not trying to connect, as the play button is tappable. Edit: thanks for your response, but my car is not equipped with Apple CarPlay.

Too complex. Design & operation is too complicated... make it more simple , & easier to use.

Does not steam consistently. On full bars of LTE or 5G the station drops out. I own the station, the issue is not the station.

I give up.. I purchased a subscription without a problem, but it didn't work. I tried the solutions suggested in the app. Nothing worked, no help at the developer website. I let the subscription expire, tried again. Nope. It feels like abandonware, not what I expected from the Icon Factory.

Stops play every 5 minute - recent development. I love this radio app. It’s the best. But recently, perhaps beginning with IOS 16.6, it’s stops playing every 5 minutes. I must restart it manually - every 5 minutes. I deleted and reinstalled 3 separate times without success. The bug happens whether I’m on wifi or using cell data. I sure hope someone sorts this out. I can’t bear the thought of going back to that gruesome Tunein. Please fix!

Exactly what I’ve been looking for.. I’ve been wanting a good clean internet radio app for both my Mac and iPhone. I should have figured Iconfactory had exactly what I needed. Clean. Simple. Filled with smart options. Not surprising that one of the OG Mac developers would have knocked it out of the park. More than happy to subscribe and support this app.

Great alternative to TuneIn. As other apps take the route of adding ads as and premium levels, this is a simple alternative. Feature request: allow me to make folders or pages/screens of channels. Sometimes I want talk or classic rock or alternative. I want to move between similar stations not step thru every station. Thanks.

The Best No-Nonsense Streaming Radio App. There are *so many* streaming radio apps out there. Some are tied to a particular service or broadcaster (Audacy, TuneIn, I Heart Radio, Sirius XM, etc.) But none of them are built to put your interests first, except Triode. It has the best directory of stations, the best stock favorites list, and the best developers behind it – a team with a long track-record of making first class, user-centered software. As a life-long fan of broadcast radio, especially AM and shortwave, it can sometimes feel like my listening options are shrinking. But online streaming is going strong, and a world of amazing stations are just waiting to be found in Triode. If I had one wish for the app, as ridiculous as it sounds, I love the option to introduce some user-configurable artificial static or warble into the output. Download this app, and once you’ve sat with it a bit, buy it. Solid software built for you, not data brokers, is far too rare in iOS-land. This is it.

Trust Has Been Burned. I would give this App 5 stars only if it would have not started charging me a monthly subscription when I paid the $20 for unlimited use. I was a little disappointed to see the charge today on my bank account. I will update this review once the developers fixes its mistake. I really do love this app & all of its cool interfaces but “trust” is a big factor for me when I download apps. Right now I’m not feeling that with Triod. Please Triod help make this right. I will wait (72) hours before I delete & cancel this app. Thank you.

great, well-designed app. The thing just works, and beautifully. There’s very little friction to get from wanting to listen to a station to actually listening to a station, or to flip through stations to find something that clicks on your head. Remember classic dashboard radios and the drop-dead simplicity that encourages easfull aural wandering? It’s like that. It has gotten me to enjoy music again.

Very promising start.... I’ve been using TuneIn Pro for the past 3 years and I’m ready to move on. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of options out there that aren’t harvesting your data and infested with ads. I’ve just started using Triode and I’m seriously impressed, but I have a couple of questions before I purchase the lifetime subscription. Are there plans for a Watch app? Or is there a development roadmap available? When is the next update? It looks like 1.0 is already 6 months in and there haven’t been any further updates. Thanks n advance!

European radio. This app is great place to listen to radio stations from around the world. I’m taking Italian language and love reinforcing lessons by listening to the language in the wild.

Just works. Simple to use, no adds, or constant prompts to subscribe. This app does what you expect and it does it very well. Two thumbs up for voice over accessibility. My only request is to add categories and support for Shoutcast. Update: Please add a way to sort your favorites or drag and drop. Still a fantastic app!

Beautiful and straightforward. this is my favourite music app. very easy to navigate. Especially good for me is because I don’t listen to music that often and I don’t forget how operate it in between times

Just what I wanted. I’ve been wanting a simple internet radio app for a long time - this is perfect. One piece of feedback: when I add a radio station via search, it pulls a custom icon, and then I tap “change icon”, I see no way to go back to the stations originally downloaded image. Continuing to hit change icon merely cycles through Triode’s set, and removing/adding the station back to favorites doesn’t seem to retrigger a station artwork fetch. It would also be neat if I could rename the stations I add to favorites from “our picks” - it feels odd having some stations with title text below their image (ones I’ve added via search) and some without (ones added from our picks).

Good app. Good functionality, but does not parse metadata correctly. For my preferred radio station it treats the Station name as the song title and the song title as the artist. The metadata therefore never loads. Unable to contact developers for support. So close

Not Great. TuneIn Works Better. Downloaded this app and purchased “forever” subscription. First issue, forever should mean forever. Three years is not forever. Second issue. Searched for BBC Radio 1. I was presented with 6 or 7 different choices. None of them worked. Got an error on every one. Popped over to TuneIn and ran the same search. One option. Played immediately. How do I get a refund. This app simply doesn’t work.

Best Internet radio app!. I’m so glad Triode exists because I’ve been an Internet radio junkie since college and this app is the best I’ve tested. Must-download.

Recommendations & Comments.. I like the app would like to see support added for Spotify, Wikipedia and google browser for current song and artist playing. I also feel that more radio stations should be added in USA & Canada for a premium app. Sometimes I have noticed when trying to select another station there’s a bit of a freeze where you have to press play few times so this should be checked. All in lol it’s a great app like the sound effects. Maybe there Gould be an option to choose more then one sound effect.

Promising but disappointing. I was thrilled to find and purchase a forever subscription to this app from Icon factory. What’s great: - No Tracking — Respects privacy - iPhone, CarPlay, iPad, Mac, and AppleTV versions - Great station selection What’s disappointing: - Search is broken on AppleTV version - Search field *forever* obscured after entering search term - App must be deleted after each search in order to search for something new This appears to be a problem on AppleTV only; however this issue kills the multi platform value of the app — so 1 star until issue is corrected.

Good internet radio app. Used for months and does the job well. There’s a good built in selection and the ability to manually add stations is a godsend. This app is far more polished and usable than similar ones still in the App Store. The option to purchase with a one time payment instead of a subscription is appreciated. Just wished there was ogg opus support.

Great Radio App. Really like this app on the iPhone and Mac. The only thing missing for a 5 Star rating is the availability to rewind by 30 second intervals. Sometimes I’d like to listen to a song that played again and at this point I don’t see a way to go back. Please add this feature.

What I was looking for. Absolutely maddening if I’m working between two access points and the chimes sound every time the phone switches between the two, or between Wi-Fi and cellular. The app becomes unusable in this situation. Really my only complaint but one that makes me not able to use the app. UPDATE: I’m an idiot and didn’t bother to look in the settings to see if I could turn the chimes off. As it turns out I can, so just ignore what I’ve written prior to this update and just buy the app.

Excellent. I love this app. I paid for an annual subscription and am loving it. Very inexpensive and well worth it. Bravo.

Best radio app in the App Store. After using several others over the years, Triode comes in and takes the internet radio crown. It has art, syncs stations between devices (yay!), has a good search function, and does it all with an uncluttered, delightfully simple interface. It makes me happy every time I use it to play public radio while making coffee in the morning or playing some music to work or relax. Triode has some UI oddities and needs a little more polish to make some of the interactions feel truly modern. An option for custom art from the web or any image file would be a nice touch too (some radio stations don’t provide a great default). Since it’s at the top of a somewhat weak set of options in the App Store, it gets five stars. If the devs (thank you!) keep hammering away with regular updates, it could go from great to sublime.

Great, simple, and works flawlessly.. I paid for the lifelong subscription, that is how much I like it. I found most of my favorite channels, and was able to custom add the few that were missing. Changing channels is quick with no lag - the best I’ve experienced out of all the apps I’ve tried. Would strongly request the ability to add custom logos. I use it through CarPlay; so it would be nice to add logos to the custom stations. Looks less professional on CarPlay with the included simple/generic logos. Would highly recommend.

Supports CarPlay, but notifications annoyance. Really enjoy the fact that this app works with CarPlay. Works really well. Only one annoyance. Can’t change the settings on notifications.

Best of the bunch. I came back to Triode after trying other options. I still think it’s the best option, but I can’t figure a few things … when I previously used this app (I had paid for it three years in a row), I could see the artist, album art, track for every song for FIP Monde, which I listen to almost all the time. When I came back to Triode recently and purchased the ‘forever’ option, I no longer see this info. I just get the generic FIP Monde art and have to tap on Shazam to ID the song. It shows up briefly on the screen, then disappears. Did something change to make this not possible? I also use to see a + button to quickly add a track to Apple Music, but I no longer see that, either. I’m thinking I must be missing something, but checking the support I don’t see how to fix this. Still, great app. The buffering is superior to other apps I’ve tried, so it doesn’t drop out as often in CarPlay, it seems to me.

I am in love with this app but.... I don’t use it very often because I like to use last.fm and this app doesn’t support it. If this app allowed me to scrobble my plays it would be the perfect internet radio app.

Triode - Radio APP - one of the best around. Having used many different radio apps on our iPhone, we think this is one of the best. Relevant and pertinent functionality galore. For instance, before installing this free app, we would tell Siri to play one of our favorite radio stations (such as Metaverse Radio WMVR-db Chicago) and 30% of the time, it worked. But since installing Triode and confirming the proper voice commands via its info tab, Siri has nailed it 💯%! Also, with its companion Apple TV app & AirPlay, you're set to listen anywhere at home including HomePod. And on the road, the CarPlay & Siri Shortcuts keep you free from distractions. Great job, Iconfactory.com!

Trial didn’t work. I signed up for a subscription with a month free trial. But when I tried to Favorite a station, I just kept getting the popup subscription offer. My sub was listed in the App Store but not recognized by the app. The developers agreed it was a problem but then stopped answering my emails. So while the app looks like a good solution if it worked right, I canceled my trial before I had to pay. Maybe I’ll try again someday.

Can’t Play. This app seems to be really well made and I’d like to use it. But non of the stations in Columbus, OH will play.

Very good radio app. Very easy to use and add stations. In a future update, I would be interested in being able to sort my favorite stations in a different order.

Better selection..... Is needed for the Seattle Tacoma area. Only a couple of the better stations are supported.

No good for Australia. Has very limited stations for OZ. Especially in the country. Pity as it is a good app and would like to have all my stations in one app

Great Radio Player for the IPad. Best radio player I have tried and I have tried a few. All it needs is an option to customise the stations logos as the ones available detract from the overall look of the program.

Almost perfect. Quick to pick up when a station drops out; easily find / customise stations; same great (simple) interface on all my devices… I really want a sleep timer though.

It works, but barely. Unintuitive and unpolished interface, station finder increasingly returns unplayable results.

Great app!. Really a 4.5. This is a very handy app. It has a variety of different stations, the drag and drop feature and unlimited listening and favourites. Oh and all the features and the app are free! There’s other great features too, but I don’t want to make my review too long. I have no complaints, but I do have a feature request for this app. Add a recent section of the past ten stations a user has listened to.

Needs Work. Doesn’t play in the background on my iPhone. No program details for BBC Radio and other stations. Basically not even feature parity with much cheaper simple radio app. Reading the developer response. Maybe try BBC radio 4. Has much greater detail on Simple Radio. Nothing here.

The best!. I continue to find that is a better app for music than any other I’ve tried. It is wonderfully and simply organized. Access to channels is immediate. I listen on Apple TV, on my IPad and through Car Play, the latter of which I especially enjoy. I can find no fault with it! Love it, too, that I can easily add channels from my D.I. FM account. Love the thing!

Hey, this is one of the best radio apps I’ve seen. Compared to other apps, Triode is incredibly smooth and functional, with minimal interruptions. Newcomers may find it unusual that album art and favorites requires a subscription or purchase, which is something I’ve never seen in other apps. Even though it is a great app, Iconfactory should consider the following features: -The ability to have multiple audio quality settings on one stream. -The ability to rearrange favorites in any order. -Custom Icons for custom radio stations. -Multiple streams and links within 1 custom station. -Chromecast support. -Spotify song search support. -The ability to turn off that sound when you tune into a station. -A better station discovery system, akin to what you’d find in TuneIn. -The ability for universal station listings to be crowdsourced. In the future, you should also consider implementing timed recording and/or time-shifting for pro members.

Grateful for this app.. Thank you App Store for featuring this a few weeks ago. I love internet radio and am running low on playlists on YouTube which cater to my less than common tastes (plus I won’t pay for the ability to lock my own phone.) This app does a wonderful job of searching all over the world for good stations which fit the bill. I used it for free without any issues for at least three weeks and for the ability to save favorites I thought 99c a month fair. I was using radio dot net prior and some of those same stations are available here, I prefer this interface however, and this offers many many more station choices. I’m sort of meh about the prepicked options on the main page but since I already know what genres I’m looking for it doesn’t matter to me. I agree with the other reviewer about discovery too.. that was always what radio was about, discovery. This brings back some of that fun. Glad to have this app and I’m excited to see it develop.
