Is this a beta????. Local single player play has no take back function so when you accidentally play a tile on the wrong hex you can’t back up. Unless you look at a card you should be able to take back your last action. Also only 25% of my games will save. So your forced to play the game through otherwise you most likely will lose it. There should be a save button. I’m almost ready to call my credit card company to force a refund on this app as it is like testing a beta. Also Saturn Systems comes up around 80% of the time in local play. AI is week on the highest level. Most of the time they won’t pick steel or titanium production and their placement of green tiles is dumb as they keep leaving me great options to put a city down next to their greens. I could go on, but I’m frustrated I paid for this. I’m not sure why it has all these 5 star ratings, must be trolls.

Bug: does not apply selected steel or titanium resources. In certain payment contexts not involving direct card play, the game does not apply the user-upped payment with available steel or titanium but rather subtracts payment from mega credit resources. Discovered during several solo games where at the end I’m left with loads of steel and titanium that I had tried to use in payment through a small pop up window. Also, minor quip—at the end of greenery conversion at the 14th generation, it would be nice to view the final O2/Temperature/Oceans metrics. Game ends without being able to view these. Bought the app yesterday to checkout playability from a phone towards multiplayer play. We have the actual board game and this app is a nice adaptation with cool graphics. Would appreciate a fix to the bug. Thank you.

Lots good, but lots broken. My review is similar to many here - the single player version way exceeded my expectations. The graphics are nice, interface makes sense, and it a great adaptation of the board game. The online version is really difficult to use because it is riddled with bugs. The main two that have made it close to unusable for me and my friends: 1) Authentication. About 80% of the time a reopen the app to play my turn it logs me out so I need to sign in almost every time I want to play one turn. It also takes a bit of time to enter each game 2) Time limit. This got us a few times but there is a default time limit to an online game which is set to a low value. Since it takes about 10 minute per turn with all the other issues you need to set this to the highest value to get even close to finishing a game

Love this game!! Few minor shortcomings and no expansions yet.. This is probably the best board game out right now, and Asmodee did a terrific job with the port. If I could, I’d give it 4.5 stars because of two oversights that I think would vastly improve the game. First, It lacks an undo button for cancelling actions that you mistakenly begin (I appreciate not having an undo action for completed actions though). Second, it often auto selects your own resources when removing for asteroids, when you clearly would rather select an opponent or nobody... leading to easy dumb mistakes. And third, it doesn’t track your high score in solo mode, so when you’ve gotten tired of beating it, it doesn’t get any more challenging. I absolutely love this game though, and can’t wait to purchase additional expansions because I’m starting to tire of the map.

Glitches stop it from being 5. Updated: Solo Challenge score tracking/hiscores would be amazing - ie, being able to see your top scores with each corporation in solo challenge. Overall, accurate adaptation that works well on mobile. I’ve only played one game and ran into a pretty substantial glitch, though - the power infrastructure card doesn’t work at all. This is meant to convert energy into mC, but it simply doesn’t work. It uses up an action but no energy is lost and no money is created. Unfortunately, in this game even a single card not working correctly can be the difference between a win or loss (especially when I’m gaining 25 energy per turn, that could be converted to a lot of mC, and by association, VPs!). I’m sure there are others that people have mentioned as well. If these are ironed out then the game is pretty good as is. Other concerns are that there is no undo option, especially for city placements where there’s no confirmation - that’s pretty ridiculous, honestly. There is also no confirmation for playing tiles on the map, which should be an extremely easy implementation.

Glitches galore!. Love the game, but hate all the glitches. When playing on line the glitches where game is stuck means running out of lots of time. Needs to have a time limit for deciding on cards to draft - say 1 or 2 minutes tops so the game doesn’t sit in limbo. Soooo very frustrating. Have to go out and then resume over and over again, while time runs out. After spending an hour of my life playing and then getting stuck in a glitch and then time runs out so unable to see the ending score - much less unable to finish playing - SOOOO FRUSTRATING! Why this hasn’t been fixed already is beyond understanding. Only real way to finish a game is to play the computer. Please, PLEASE fix these issues!!

Two major issues on this great app. This app should be getting five stars, from everyone, but I paid $9 for it, my friend paid$9 for it, and neither of us can friend the other in their "chat" page or (probably the "players" tab under Chat is what they meant, but u can't their either). Also, I can't see my cards on other players' turns. Sometimes they are just completeley disappeared. Othera you aren't allowed to click on them, or have to fool the app by checking Cards Played first and then try your hand again. When you can view your own dang cards, the app is constantly interrupting u, but even of just that worked I could play the game. As of now I have an $18 solo game I run out pf time on bc I can only see my cards when it's my turn. I want our money back and a notice when u guys are out of beta.

A worthy buy. I picked this up a week or two ago, and have been playing the Solo mode a lot. I‘ve played the board game many times with friends, and this is a faithful adaptation. I find myself going back to play a match of Solo rather than playing other games I have available. I’d love to see the expansion that added the other side of Mars as well as the southern pole. I believe there were also some neat cards in the Venus expansion that didn’t require the Venus track or floaters that’d add some more variation to the game. Failing the addition board, it’d be nice if we could randomize the placement bonuses on the board to vary up Solo mode a bit. I find myself doing the same placement strategies, which make future plays a little samey.

Great game, but end game scoring is inoperable for local matches with 2 or more users (iOS). I love the board game, and this digital adaptation is stellar, outside of one relatively major issue, which is that it freezes 100% of the time for me at the very end of the game! It’s like the animation for score tallying bugs just before it’s about to begin counting. I’ve played five rounds now, all with minor tweaks to eliminate variables, and have never made it to the scoring successfully. It does however seem to work with single player local matches, as well as online matches. Is this something the developers have been made aware of? I will happily update my rating if there is a fix, or something I can do on my end to get around this bug! Thanks,

Broken Since Latest Updatr. This app now routinely stops the game when looking at cards already played (which you need to do from time to time) and occasionally when new cards are drawn mid-turn. The only fix is to close out of the game (and for the first problem, restart the entire app), and then reload the game, which takes an amount of time proportional to how far into the game you are, so sometimes a very long time. Also, every game, even the ones you win, don’t complete. I tells you you’ve won, then won’t close and update. It just hangs until you forfeit the game. It has done this since the last time an update was published more than two months ago. The developers replied to my support request that they were aware of the problem. They have not fixed it. I tried to follow up, but they closed the ticket. I can’t highly rate an app where the publishers knows about a major game play problem and can’t be bothered.

Game bugs. I have two bugs that need to addresses. I have noticed the AI can be “tricked” into not completing or terraforming the planet when the opportunity exists. I have, on several occasions, been able to keep all of the ocean cards so the AI can’t play a card to place the last ocean. Or, today, I was able to play against Helios and there was one step left for temperature and the AI would never spend energy to get the last increase. This caused the second bug, I was able to run the game out of cards and during the draft, the game just froze and I could not do anything, including ending the game. I took a screenshot of it in case the developers need it.

Deserves 5 Stars. This is a great game and deserves 5 stars. However there are a few cards that don't work. Those are minor and will get fixed eventually. The reason i dropped my rating to 3 stars is a bug that has been there since the initial release and my friends and I have reported many times. When you complete a game there is no way to get rid of it from your games list. So if player abc is your friend that creates the games you play you end up with so many "abc's game" that finding the right one can be very frustrating. Currently the only way to get rid of a finished game is to forfeit it. But that cost you a rating point. Please Twin Sails, instruct whomever is doing your maintenance to fix this bug. In the past, when i've put in a bug report, the help desk simply ask for the names of the "dead" games and they deleted them. Sure that fixed the problem short turn, but i should not have to turn in a bug report every time i want my dead games deleted! Please please please fix this annoying bug! Thank you, Hal Norman

Glitches but Good Overall. I’ll start my review with I really love this board game, so I went out of my way to purchase this game. Overall, I like the product. However, now that I’ve played the game many times I really dislike the tags glitch. Specifically, science tags do not get recorded correctly. Many cards have a specific number of science tags as a requirement. I’ll purchase 5-6 science cards and play them, then when I check my tags tab I have 3. This is super irritating. Especially when I’m required to have 4 or 5 to even play a card. From what I’ve seen this glitch is mainly on multi-tagged cards, +-2 cards, or gain one or two cards card. Please fix this glitch. It’s really taking my enjoyment from the game. I almost want to get a return on my money. I even bought the prelude expansion hoping the glitch was fixed. Alas, it’s not. And after spending over $12 I would hope that these things are fixed quickly.

Fantastic implementation of a great board game. This is a fantastic implementation of one of the best board games I’ve ever played. The digital version takes care of accounting for all the “fiddly bits” in the game, really streamlining game play. The bug fixes rolled out over the last year addressed most of the problems I experienced in early releases. The tutorial is a better introduction to the board game than the game’s rules, so I recommend new owners of the physical game buy the digital version to more quickly learn the mechanics. The only thing preventing my fifth star is the lack of expansion content. Prelude is great, but I really miss the alternate maps (which provide variety in milestones and awards) and the Turmoil expansion (which adds depth for experienced players).

Crashes OFTEN. I would love to rate this game 5 stars. It is very fun, even to the point of mildly addicting. This game can make 2 hours feel like 10 minutes. Plus the tutorial is great for anyone new to the game such as myself. Unfortunately the game crashes a LOT. I have gone through about 6 or 7 games now and have yet to experience a complete game that hasn’t crashed on me at least twice. The most recent game I’ve played I can’t seem to go more than 15 minutes without it crashing. This is on two different iPads with fairly different specs too. If this was a free game I wouldn’t complain. However, since I’m paying almost $10 for it I would expect a crash free version, especially since there are plenty of other game options out there that can offer better results. To any developer who reads this, please fix this issue and I will gladly change this review to 5 stars.

Good could use some work. The app works a lot better than many reviews have claimed. Probably due to updates and the fact that I’m using an updated phone (11 pro max). I also haven’t played multiplayer online, so we will see then. Overall a very pleasing experience. However minus one star for the fact that I’m paying $9 for the app and there are no statistics for wins/losses and other data that other games like this have within their app. Expansion packs are additional money, but for this price I feel they should be included, but really my minus 1 star is due to the lack of additional features one would expect at a game/app at this price point . overall fantastic

Async multiplayer needs work. I love this game & they’ve done a good job bringing ambiance to the play &making it work on small screens. However, the multiplayer parts of it are incredibly primitive. The dev team really needs to up their game here. The list of saved games provides no more information than the number of players in that game. It doesn’t give you essential information like whose turn it is or even whether it’s my turn. It doesn’t do anything to distinguish between games—Not a name for each game and not even list the names of the players. You can tap an info button to get player names, but then the order of the games changes seemingly randomly every time you access info or load a game. It takes a minute or so to load a saved game so it can be a real pain to find the right game after your buddy texts you that it’s your turn, since you can’t even methodically open saved games to find the right one. My record is 7 tries to get the right file from a choice between 2. Solo play works just fine, so there’s hope that one day the multiplayer will work reasonably well, but right now it is frustrating and bordering on unplayable.

Make the AI harder.. Awesome game and awesome app. I’ve only experienced one local game that crashed and have probably played dozens of matches to this point. My only request is any adjustments possible to make the AI more difficult. I haven’t delved into online multiplayer yet but I love to play against the AI. The only problem is I haven’t lost a match in quite a while, and I almost always win by at least 20 VPs. The AI is pretty predictable and often makes terrible first moves during mid to end game. I don’t know if this is a common issue but it would great for an increased challenge. All in all still fun and a superb app adaption of my favorite board game. Thank you!!

Workable to Clunky. Come on now… A slew of new improvements for this release advertised in App Store convinced me it’s time to reinstall, only to finally update and find it less stable than my 6+ month outdated version. I play this regularly on the solo challenge, and this update downgraded an already just okay user interface. Please test your application before releasing updates. That multiplayer bug you list “fixed issue where first player in X map freezes” about says it all. That’s a pretty absurd error. I’m stuck on a solo, where it won’t let me place a greenery and is flat stuck. Can’t click anywhere. Never happened before in my 2-3 dozen games. Yikes, man…. Love this board game, enjoyed the app enough to play before, disappointed to the point of actually getting my lazy self to type out a review. Edit/Update: downgrading to 1 star, do not buy if you plan to play solo with current release. Just froze and failed on a different game, different map, different tile placement and cannot move past error. The game worked well enough prior to update but is now failing 1/3 matches. Not playing going forward until update - very poorly QA folks.

Good implementation needs a few things. First my brother and I have both played their actual board game so it was fairly easy for us to learn the digital version. As much as we loved it we couldn’t help but mention how difficult it’d be to learn the game because there were multiple things we had to search for in the Ui. However we were able to do everything we expected to through the game, it is a great digital version as it’s not lacking in any features we could find. My largest complaint is that it has no notification system so it is really only worthwhile to play if both players are going to play live. The online component gives the option to put time limits on turns but that doesn’t work great because you have to constantly go back into the game to check if it’s your turn. Even that wouldn’t be awful but it takes a good 15-30s to resume your game if you leave the app for ANY reason, even a switch to a respond or view a text message you have to sign back in and wait to reconnect. The game needs to implement notifications or have a way to see from the main menu whose turn it is. The only other flaw of the game is there is no undo, if you play a card or an action there is no way to back out of it even if it is still your turn. If those two issues were resolved it’d be a 5 star game

Great adaptation of the real thing. Hey devs, I hope you’re doing well and thanks for all your hard work on making my favorite board game available for my iOS devices. I’ve literally played this game hundreds of times irl and online and I would like to ask if it would be possible to let the user decide the time restraints based off of 15 min intervals. So if I wanted to set the game for 1 hour and 15 min it would be easy to do so. Also there have been plenty of games where I was just moments away from seeing the score and I timed out and I felt like 2 hours of my life were wasted. Would it be possible to allow your opponents to grant you more time when you’re going to time out? Especially in private games when I’m playing with my friends. And finally there have been public games were my opponent leaves mid game with over half an hour left on his timer. I then have to wait half an hour for his timer to run out before the AI takes over. Can you give players a 5 min window to make their move and if they don’t make it they forfeit their rounds for that generation? I also wanted you to know that I would be willing to pay extra to play with the expansions. Jonathan Gomez

Multiplayer is terrible. Single player is smooth.. This app is plagued with connection issues. I get turn freezes starting around generation 5 or 6. This forces you to back out of the game and re-enter or restart the game altogether. Meanwhile the game continues with the AI that will ruin your plans or waiting will eat up your time. If this happens enough times the app will drop the game and then you can’t re-enter the game. Their karma ranking system will then give you a hit for this because you “quit” the game. I’ve had cards disappear on me as well when I try to re-enter a game. There is no back button within your turn. Which has more than once hurt my gameplay as I mistakenly tap on something. Online multiplayer is just about unusable and then punished your ranking for their bugs. Offline play is smooth but the AI is a bit dumb even at the hard levels. It’s a good take on the board game. I want this app to do well because of its potential but it needs a lot of bugs fixed and UI improvements.

I want to play this game SO BAD!. Developer: please let me play this game, I’m begging you! I just want to play this game with my friends, that’s it! But your game fights me trying to play it at every turn. If i close and re-open the app sometimes the entire UI disappears, rendering the game useless. If i close the app and come back, i have to go through 3 - 4 steps just to get back in the game *if* the UI sticks around for me to play. I’ll pay you money and evangelize for your product and get you lots of new customers if you will just make this game work. Please improve the multiplayer experience. Why do i have to add my friends to my buddies list before i can start a game with them? Why do they HAVE to be online at the same time as me before i can add them as friends? Why do i have to click “done” the “send” when sending chat messages? Really, all i want to do is play your game that you made, and tell others about it, but your game makes that practically impossible! I’ll give it 5 stars and get hundreds of people to buy it if you will just fix ALL the problems!

Decent adaptation crippled by poor online. They really nailed the vibe. It feels great! The UI is slick and fluid, the sound is fantastic .. I actually like playing with headphones on! Where it complexly falls down is online multiplayer. First you will constantly be logged out.. want to login and use password auto fill.. logged out.. switch over to resend to a text.. logged out.. if the app basically isn’t ever the foreground active app It logged you out of the game and you have to go through the menu and join again. There is little to no indicator of it being your turn! You may get a push notification but that’s it. There is no app icon badge, in the resume games list there is no indicator of whose turn.. you have to actually load the entire game.. the maybe it will one of the players is play.. depending on the game state. There is no replay of what happen sense your last turn.. there is a game log buried in a menu in the top left but it it’s a tiny log not the animation of actually flow of actions like you get it your online while the turn happens. I could go on and on.. Go play “through the ages” even if you don’t like the game.. it is the best online async intuitive digital adaptation I’ve experienced. Getting async play down is critical for these games especially on a phone!!

Completely wasted my money on a broken game. 😔. Bought the game and expansions and halfway through a 2p game with an Ai bot, I passed my turn and the bot then got virtually infinite turns—the game ignoring that it had no credits left and it took continuous standard actions over and over. I watched in amusement as IT TERRAFORMED THE ENTIRE PLANET (the planet was less than half full at the start of my turn). No joke, the glitch allowed the Ai to terraform virtually every empty tile spot on the planet, as well as systematically take milestones and awards that same generation as it did so. Because I had passed my turn and it had a turn left, it just got turn and turn after turn until it literally had nothing left to do. Of course this completely breaks the game and makes it worthless. Total waste of money including the cost of the expansions I paid for.

Great game, decent app. As someone in love with the physical board game who owns every expansion I feel very qualified to rate this. Pros? Can play my fave game of all time in line at Disneyland or waiting for food at a restaurant. Cons? Not all expansions available- please find a way to do that, especially Turmoil!- and more annoyingly, the game has a difficult interface. I frequently try to scroll around the map to find a place I want to put greenery or a city or whatever and accidentally click a spot then can’t undo. Also two of the global parameters are displayed in such a way that it looks like you can still increase them but can’t, then the game doesn’t stop you if you try. I have paid megacredits or heat to increase temp, lost said resource, then nothing happens and I realize it’s maxed but the interface doesn’t make it clear. Please fix this? Otherwise I am just happy to have a mobile version of my favorite game.

Very fun, one bug is bugging me. We have this board game and my long distance daughter and I were thrilled to be able to play against each other online across the country! It plays very true to the board game, and we had the interface down after just a few games. My one bug complaint…. If I get a “battery is low” message on my iPad, or if I leave the game for too long and my backlight goes out, or if I plug the iPad in mid game, or anything else that has to do with power, the game freezes and I can’t do anything but reboot and lose the game. I always have to be sure I have well over 10% power or be plugged into an outlet before I start the game. Other than that, we are very happy!

Great single player, terrible multiplayer. If you are looking for a good solo mode or single player mode, this absolutely is one of the best digital adaptation. Terraforming Mars ranks amongst the top 3 in board games and the digital adaptation is just as satisfying. There can be some feature improvements like an undo button but there really isn’t much to knit pick on. Game is solid. In multiplayer mode, however, the game crashes almost every time. This is particularly frustrating especially right after you have spent 40 minutes building your engine. It either displays “you’ve been logged out” which is still reconnect-able or it’ll state “you’ve ran out of time” in which case you can no longer re log in again. I’m using an iPad Pro and my wife is using iPad Air, so I don’t feel like it’s my hardware issue. We are also dedicated gamers, so we do not shut/or switch to other apps while in game. So far we have gave the game 3 tries, and all 3 times we were logged out and unable to reconnect. Very, very frustrating, will not ever play multiplayer again online. If you are doing single player, this is great. IF you are buying for multiplayer, stick with the actual board game.

Endless problems. The game has been plagued by bugs since it’s inception 4 years ago. The developers and programmers do not seem to care. They don’t listen to customer feedback, and the game and gaming community suffers. Many players cannot even start a game because of glitches in the program. Many games, once started, crash before completion. There are broken cards, incorrect rules, poorly designed timers, and terrible User interface decisions, All of which make a terrific game very frustrating. The programmers release patches, updates, and new DLC without even doing a single play-test, thus missing severe and obvious game-breaking errors. They repeatedly create new bugs and problems that aren’t even related in any way to whatever they were “trying” to fix. It’s shameful, and you can’t even ask for a refund if you play more than 2 measly hours, which most people do.

Great game, app is frustrating. The app has a lot of frustrating features. For example, you get logged out of an online game if your phone goes dark or you get a notification. Also, online games have you set a time limit per player, defaulting to 30 min, which is much too short. There is no way to keep track of how much time you have left, and it automatically kicks out any player who goes over the time limit. So frustrating for everyone playing, there should be an option to extend the time. It takes a long time for the online games to load if you have to resume. I’ve also had several bugs with certain cards not working how they should, like on my last game, my power infrastructure action just stopped working halfway through the game. Also, I wish you could play locally with several devices, so several people in the same room, but on multiple phones. Finally, in many places it asks you to confirm, but there doesn’t appear to be a way to go back if you don’t want to confirm. I love this game, wish it was easier to play on the app.

Great game but buggy app. I love the tabletop but this is frustratingly buggy. The timer doesn’t turn off in opponents turns and doesn’t count fairly- I played an hour round where my timer ran out ant the other player still had 58 minutes. I wish there was a timer free mode, there are a lot of cards to read. Sometimes it doesn’t let you play eligible cards or give correct awards. Sometimes it freezes altogether. Once I thought I was playing and AI took over my game even though my internet was fine. My last game froze completely and didn’t let me play or pass but the timer keep counting. It’s also frustrating that you can’t easily see your cards and plan your move during opponent’s turns. The only thing that has sorta consistently worked is solo mode.

Beautiful Adaptation, Terrible Multiplayer. The game looks and plays beautifully. The app did a great job presenting the information of the game and the animations make it engaging and fun. Unfortunately, the multiplayer system leaves a lot to be desired. Playing online was the reason I bought this game, hence the 2-stars. The entire multiplayer system is premised on the assumption that players will play one game at a time and stay in the app for the duration of the game. This makes sense if you’re playing Starcraft or League of Legends but makes little sense if you’re playing a long board game. Every other app adaptation of a board game seems to understand this. I would much prefer to be able to join multiple games and play my turns as it became my turn, which I would be notified about with a push notification. Perhaps the draft mode wouldn’t work well this way, but that’s why it’s optional.

Fantastic game but needs work. I have always loved playing terraforming mars in real life so finding it in the App Store was just a bonus. However some things that need to be fixed: 1. I like the animations of people’s moves and the card showing up…. However why do I loose so much time waiting on the animations to finish. If I want to watch them I shouldn’t be forced to loose time which when I first started playing didn’t even know you could turn the animations off. This lead me to be unable to finish my first 4 games that I got kicked out of while watching the animations being done. Instead the only way to play and keep up is to constantly check the card log of the other play rather than the game show you what has been played. Overall I like the concept of the timer to make games move fast but when the timer activates and stops should be fixed especially if you want to see the animations 2. The game bugs out a lot. I have had several games since the last update that I’ve had to forfeit because I couldn’t get the card screen to move or it would let me do any action and the timer would just keep ticking…. Please fix 3. Would love to see the ability to play the computer and not only when someone quits the game. Especially since when people quit the game the ai only works half the time. The other half freezes and you just have to leave the game. If these 3 things can get fixed it would be perfect. Thank you!

AI is horrible, Asmodee can’t keep multiplayer server up. As much as I love the boardgame and want to like this app, the quality just isn’t there. The AI on “hard” isn’t much challenge and does stupid things like buying ghg bacteria when heat is already maxed. Or upping energy production on the final turn. This would still be fun practice for real games but it requires your app be logged into a horribly unreliable server. My profile is constantly getting “logged out”. And about 1-2 a month it spins forever and doesn’t let you log in. A friend has had to reregister his account four times now. The game also has occasional crashes (worse on older devices like an iPhone 6) and reloading the game takes 4x longer than starting a new one.

I want to be BLUE!. I should be able to select my character color. Chris should be green not purple and I should be BLUE not green! It is so distracting to play as the wrong colors. The colors of the players should also be jewel tones. Other than that the game play is very similar to the board game and the graphics are beautiful. I would like a little bar added to remind you what you chose to do. I have a horrible short term memory and sometimes I forget that I chose to place a city instead of a greenery tile. I have to take notes on the side to remind me. I would like an undo button when I realize that I picked the wrong action before I complete the action. I LOVE THIS GAME!

Multiplayer Asynchronous is TERRIBLE!. Solo mode is good, and the multiplayer AI game is OK (though I don’t think I’ve lost to them yet). But wow, the asynchronous implementation is just horrible! - It seems that players must be online at the same time to even play a game together! Even when they are, though, many created game invitations seem to disappear somewhere into the ether! - Well, they mostly disappear: I still have a list of games I’ve tried to create in my “Resume Game” screen ... which the invited opponent doesn’t see and which I have no way to delete. - when it’s your turn, you get a notification (oddly silent for some reason) but if you have multiple games going, you have no indication as to which one you need to open!! And opening a game is so slow that it’s painful! - there’s no option to play back other people’s turns! Yes, there’s an event log, but it’s not exactly detailed! - playing draft mode: how the heck are you supposed to know which direction you’re passing? It would help so you know which cards to hate draft away! - when playing draft mode, if you open the game before the other player(s) are done, you are repeatedly taken to the buy card buttons. You can select your cards and hit buy, BUT IT DOESN’T STICK — you have to do it all over again and again! The asynchronous multiplayer game, the main reason I bought this, is utter crap. Hopefully a future update will improve this ....

Terraforming Mars Rocks. The developers have done an amazing job taking a complex game and making it easy to play with the app. The preludes expansion is a real bonus, but I sincerely hope they figure out a way to add the colonies expansion!!! This is a must have when playing TM. Devs… please, please… you have to shoe horn the colonies expansion into this game! I’ll pay you double for it.. just offer it! :) Feb 2023, recent update broke some things. Can’t view map when needed sometimes, and can’t place cities on the board after playing a card that requires you to do so. Something went awry in the latest update… hope they figure out what they screwed up.

Overall good, but corporate era rules mode crashes. Overall, if you’re just looking to play against AI with the simple rules, then it’s an excellent app. The AI ranges in difficulty and will challenge you as you learn to play. If you’re playing a local game, you can easily add another “human” player to play on the app. However, the “corporate era” rule mode is incredibly unstable and games in that mode constantly crash. While your progres will be saved, the game won’t load fully, will consistently crash, and you’ll never be able to finish the game. This is especially frustrating, if you’re using the app to try to better your normal board game skills, since the “corporate era” cards is the most common way to play.

Almost perfect.. Great implementation of the game;however, the ants card is broken. If you click on the ants' ability and there are no viable target microbes, the game does not allow you to continue. The continue button does not work and there is no "undo" option. This effectively freezes the game, forcing you to forfeit. This has happened multiple times for me. I imagine that it may be the same for the other animals (predators, fish, and birds); although I have not tested them yet. Despite this, it is still an excellent game. I am looking forward to the expansions.

recent update (mar 13, 2023) broke solo games(sort of). first off, i highly recommend the game, even if you uave no friends to play with, it has ai opponents. however, when playing solo, and the game ends and it counts up your score, the game freezes and doesn't bring you back to the main menu or ask you to save your high scores. i noticed this happeneing a couple of days ago and thought it was weird and then today, i tried restarting ipad and it still happens. i tried reinstalling the app and it still happens . .and then i looked at the version history and see they just did an update and it says "many fixes". . but then they broke stuff. also worth mentioning, when looking at your list of saved scores, the game doesn't sort them in any sort of logical order. i would expect it to sort the highest scores to the lowest, in descending order, but it doesn't, so the list is kind of meaningless. it doesn't even show the scores unless you physically click(tap) on them. athough, there does appear to be 4 buttons on the side that look like sorting filters, but when i tap them, they don't do anything, except they do seem to collapse to the right, showing more stuff, but the stuff is cut off by the side of the screen, as if it's trying to go off the screen to the right. i have had this app formyears and this has NEVER been addressed. and for an app made for mobile devices, how the heck have they let something like stuff not fitting on the screen go for so long unfixed?

Seems Buggy and doesn’t save. This is a longer game to play and the app seems to like to crash at times The main problem with that is a game you are literally hours into will be wiped out with no save point I’m not sure how in 2019 such a thing could be possible (Erased rant) Edit 1. Rewards for hitting targets on O2 and Temp tracks are not actually rewarded Edit 2. I’ve now completely lost upwards of a dozen solo games due to crashes (and no saves). Whose career defining decision was it to not save games automatically nor allow a manual workaround. Edit 3. the game seems to need an online connection when none should be needed. (Perhaps for the saves that aren’t happening? 😂, I’m not playing multiplayer) Edit 4. The app loses my log in information randomly and there is no ‘remember me’ functionality so full user name and password are required each time for a game which should happily just sit on my iPad with no online presence unless I ask for one. reduced rating to one star Seems sloppy Edit 5. Emailed as requested....... And I’ve deleted the app. Honestly, I assumed at that price point that I’d be purchasing a polished product. Instead I’ll be noting these developers and avoiding their products like the plague. Asmodee; Choose better partners as the buck stops with you .

A lesson in how to frustrate users. In order to add a friend you have to go through the chat tool. Not intuitive at all but whatever, I can deal with that. The really bonkers part is that your friend needs to be online in the app AT THE SAME TIME YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR THEM in order for you to be able to find them in the user list. Wuh? Notifications do not work at all...at least not for me on iOS. Cross platform, yay! Oh wait, it doesn’t matter if you don’t get alerted it’s your turn. I’ve tried turning off notifications and then turning them back on, power cycling my phone multiple times, I even uninstalled the app and reinstalled. Nothing helped. You get disconnected if you let your screen go to sleep for an instant or if you jump over to another app (even for only a second or two). Then you must reconnect and load your game again which takes FOREVER. I’ve played other ports where you get disconnected easily (CoB and the true TM, Terra Mystica) but with those you could jump to another app and back into the game after a few seconds and not have to restart. I wish I could review the gameplay but it’s been very difficult to even make it halfway through an online game. Played a few local games against the AI. The gameplay seems solid but even the expert AI is pretty bad (not unexpected for a game like this). So playing local games against AI gets stale quickly. In general, the app has promise but it is almost unusable for online games in its current state.

Surprisingly well implemented and enjoyable. I have found that Asmodee does not make very refined digital adaptations of board games, Scythe being a prime example. Their work on Terraforming Mars is a far better adaptation and generally looks, plays, and sounds quite good. There are definitely “quality of life” issues, such as not being able to get info on tiles on the board, not being able to see what is contributing to production values, confusion on wether cards have immediate or lasting effects, and most importantly, the lack of an undo button and no end-game fanfare or stat tracking. There is also a lack of “late stage polish”. For example, a more refined version would show the atmosphere and background landscape transforming as terraforming goals are met. Overall, I have enjoyed Asmodee’s digital adaptation and recommend Terraforming Mars to others.

Great solo game - needs work for asynchronous multiplayer. I love this as a solo game (either actual solo mode or against AI). It doesn’t have an undo feature, and it chews up battery like a puppy with a shoe, but it’s still really good. Where this flops for me is on the asynchronous multiplayer online mode. Things that Really Annoy Me: - It can take two minutes to load the game every time you want to play your turn. Even switching to another screen for a moment then promptly returning kicks you out of the server, so you have to do a multi-minute reload. - Turn notifications (i.e., “It’s your turn!”) don’t work for me, and judging by other reviews, it’s not just me. That means I have to spend a few minutes logging in to find out if it’s actually my turn yet. - If it turns out it wasn’t my turn, I have to replay what I just did. Groundhog Day was an okay movie, but I certainly don’t need to live it and keep buying the same cards over and over until all players have taken their buy action. - The server seems a bit unstable. I can be logged in for several days, then have to re-log thrice in 20 minutes. - If it’s true that the final score is only visible to the player that took the last action (still haven’t gotten there!), that is also a silly thing. Solo: 4.5 stars! Asynchronous multiplayer: 2 stars :( I’d still buy it again, though.

Good adaptation but bugs ruin gameplay. There are a couple of bugs that make this really annoying to play. It’s too bad because the game is good and it’s adaption is well done in general. The biggest issue is science tags not being counted properly. Seemingly at random, you will play science cards and your tags don’t increment. This is incredibly frustrating when your strategy is based on unlocking a certain card. Another issue is that the AI players are not very good. They have very simple basic strategies and it is too easy to beat them on the advanced setting. For example, in deciding what prize to purchase they look at the resources players have and not at their production. Hope the developers can address these basic issues and make this worth playing.

Good game but declining rapidly. It’s a solid game, it’s fun and a great representation of the board game that makes the accounting easier. It’s frustrating to have so many bugs though, and each of the “fixes” generally led to more new bugs. I don’t feel it’s too much to ask for a paid app and expansion to work properly. I just know it could be better at times. * As usual update = new glitches. First is when viewing ‘cards played’ or any card/perk that lets you choose a card (business contacts, inventors guild, etc) the cards don’t go away creating a soft lock that requires and/or when placing a tile, the available hexes highlight but there is a soft lock preventing tile placement. Only solution is to do a forced shut down and restart and exit the game. And since the most recent update (March 2023) the game doesn’t end in many game modes. It displays a score but there is no www a“return to menu” or save score option. You can only abandon/forfeit the game.

Stay Away if looking for Async Online play. This is my second attempt to play a board game in an app with some real life friends. The first was Through The Ages which might have spoiled me with the excellence of that app, and definitely spotlights the shortcomings of this one. I absolutely love Terraforming Mars on the tabletop, so my one star review is not based on the merits of the game itself, but in the implementation of the app. I could not finish multiple online async games. The draft variant, not only is badly implemented, but frequently causes the game to get stuck and you can’t finish. Some quality of life updates wouldn’t hurt either, like being able to see who you are sending cards to, or in what state is the draft. Besides that, having the draft hang in the middle of a game is frustrating and downright not acceptable. If you want to finish an online game, play without draft. The app looks nice, but takes a bit to load and the buttons are small. There is no undo button and no notification that you have unspent actions at the end of your turn. But really, it’s the bugs that kill it. It’s just not with your time or money unless they fix the draft variant.

Too many bugs. I love this game and own the board game version as well. They do a great job on representing the physical version with a great UI and informative notifications. However, the game still has too many bugs, in fact it almost unplayable due to how much it crashes. I played against 3 AI and the game consistently crashed every two turns, and the brutal reload times don’t help. I really look forward to this game once the developers fix the bugs. -Update: I have found that the game rarely crashes while playing on my iPhone 6, but it crashes 3-4 times per game on my iPad Mini 2. Both have the latest software updates. Also, the AI will get stuck during the research card draft sometimes. Turning this mode off has worked in mitigating the issue, but it would be nice to be able to play with the draft on.

Decent implementation. Decent implementation, could use some UI improvements. (1) Actions and cards that have no effect can be activated with no warning; such as actions that add a water tile when all the tiles have already been played. A better UI would disable completely non-operative actions and cards. (2) The advancement track UI gives zero indication of exactly what thresholds need to be met to get bonuses. Only *after* one gets to -24 Celsius is there an indication that a bonus happened. If one doesn’t have the 4 advancement breaks memorized, the user is out of luck. (3) There’s no way to back out of an action or card play partway if it turns out that a mistake was made. For example, if you play a card that drops a city tile, and when the UI displays the possible city tile locations you see that all the choices are bad, the only way to cancel the action is to quit and restart the game. (4) Sometimes the game gets stuck displaying a card list. Some affordance to close a card list would be nice.

Game Keeps Crashing After Latest Update. Normally I love this game, but after getting the new expansions my game keeps crashing. Somewhere in the middle of a match (usually when I have a good engine built) text will pop up and say “Buy up to {0} cards”. It appears under the standard projects menu. When my cards menu is opened text appears over it and says “No cards played”. The cards cannot be sorted by the tabs anymore and they can’t be paged through with the arrow. So frustrating as the only thing you can do is forfeit. I tried closing the app and reopening the game but the issue immediately pops back up. This has happened to me on at least six different occasions. I normally play vs one medium AI player. All occurrences have been on the Hellas map, but not sure if it would do the same on other maps.

Almost perfect - a few bugs persist. Really enjoyed playing with friends online. Great fun while in COVID quarantine. Sadly one bug got really frustrating by the end of the game. When a player is viewing their cards and the player after them completes their turn, the player who was viewing their cards loses access to their cards: the hand of cards graphic (in the bottom-center of the screen) disappears. This happens on iPad and PC. It isn’t a game breaker because when play gets back to the frustrated player the screen is refreshed and the hand of cards graphic becomes visible again. I also have a feature suggestion: add a view where all the players information is shown on the screen at the same time; instead of having to select each player one at a time. This would make it more like looking around a physical table to see which player to perform an action against.

Good game just poor design. Tried to play with 4 other people and when it come to me being on the bottom of the list I couldn’t pass my turn as the corporation was sitting over the pass turn, ended up having to forfeit as their was nothing I could do. Better button placement would definitely help. Also couldn’t get back into a game the other night and wouldn’t let us back in/ game was bugging prior that caused us to try jump out and jump back in.

Great Game - when are the expansions coming?. Very good implementation of the board game! Would be great to have the expansions, as the same starting corporations get tired. If you could show the actions of a card from the Log that would be useful also. Overall a very fun and interesting game and great to be able to play solo/local.

Ran out of time. Online keeps disconnecting

Last patch has been a huge improvement. [Updated Review after App Update] Great music! Multi player has notification and resumes from play. The game has a well designed interface, only a few small things stop this being 5 ⭐️ The meters on the right can be a little hard to read, and it is often not clear who was targeting by negative effects. Occasional notification issues.

Desyncs. Disappointing that de syncs continues to ruin the experience. When trying to play online, the game frequently becomes unstable... resulting in the servers thinking you have forfeited, whilst your experience is just playing against the AI. I can only assume that my opponents end up playing against an AI as well because sometimes the game randomly re-syncs resulting in my previous moves being replaced by a random selection choices. 0 stars if possible.

Terrible multiplayer. Friends have to be online at the same time to be friended. There are no turn notifications. Accounts frequently break locking players out. Games disappear when finished, leaving no way to tell the winner of view your playing history. I will change my rating and review if and when multiplayer is fixed, until then I recommend against buying

Great App. Love the app! I was a little confused with the oxygen and temperature meter rewards at first because it looks like you receive the rewards (heat production/temp increase/water tile) before it reaches it. I’d love to see an undo button incorporated and I hope to see the expansions become available in time too!

Worth every penny. This is a fantastic online version of this game. The interactions on the board are great, it hides and expands all the various components well, and is a great way to play games relatively quickly (you can adjust the speed too). Some things to look out for - it can be hard to tell the difference between cities and other board components laid down at times, you can’t zoom on the temperature or oxygen level to double check the status, and you need to pay attention otherwise occasionally you will miss what the AI’s actions were. But none of these really detract from a fantastic adaptation of an already great game. Well done team, looking forward to the expansions!

Extremely difficult to add friends to a game. Can’t add friends to a game, impossible to login and repeatedly asking for a password, can’t play online sometimes, have to reset password each time I sign in. The desktop version isn’t that much better!

Add more language please. Add more language please

A good version of a very good board game. The app emulates the board game well. The only gripe I have is the difficulty of following microbes etc added to cards and negative values to be applied to other people

Good game but expensive and improvements to game play speed needed. Could make some easy changes to speed game up

Freezing problem. It is an awesome game I love it, but when I playing in online it often freeze n would not able to do any action. And end up not finish the game after spending an hour.

A decent implementation. 5-staring because the game is very decent as is. The only minor thing for me is a little bit of polish is needed for the multiplayer side, so hold off if you’re big on the multiplayer aspect. Otherwise, if you prefer AI games like I do, this game is near perfect and Asmodee should be commended for bringing this to digital and in great shape. The multiplayer issues have already been given by other reviews. Mainly notifications.

Brilliant game but bugs in the app. I love terraforming Mars and having it in an app is fantastic! The app itself has bugs however and the fact that any multi tasking on an iPhone closes the game and makes you re-enter it makes gameplay very frustrating and disjointed.

Waste of Money. I bought this specifically to play online with some friends. One of them I can’t even find, the other I can find but can’t add as a friend. It was a complete waste of my money. Well I finally managed to set up A few games but I’m yet to finish one online coz for one reason or another something always stuffs up. Games disappear or connectivity issues occur and cause me to time out. Clunky, messy rubbish app. Wouldn’t recommend. The music is nice though.

Nearly there for online asynchronous!. Latest patch has definitely improved playability for online games; however, I would like to suggest three small changes to really improve play for online, asynchronous games. Hopefully these are all doable with minimal coding changes: - identifying within the online games menu which games it is my turn in. If I have multiple games going, there’s no way of telling which game it is when I get a notification. - removing the need for a player turn for the final card of the draft. The final card is forced, and is not displaying anyway within the interface - so it’s a completely redundant step/action, which slows down the draft a lot - either: registering draft card selections to the server out of player order (at the moment, it will only register selections strictly in player order, which slows the draft down a lot); or, if that is a major change, not displaying the cards in the interface for the next round of the draft until it is actually the player’s turn (at the moment, the cards come up, I can choose a card, but I just have to choose it again when it’s my turn) Thanks!

Needs improvement. I love terraforming Mars the board game, so was really looking forward to the iOS release. Unfortunately the asynchronous multiplayer is lacking, notifications now happen but no indication of what game it’s your turn in within the app. Still no play back of turns so you have to go to the history. Card selection and starting selection is in player order but let’s you select them before your turn and then just forgets. And after a game is finished the last play is the only one who sees scores unless your online at the time. Need a lot of work to be good as asynchronous game

Needs Upgraded. I really love this game. The only problem I’ve seen so far is: when you are playing five player online and last in the turn order the corporation logo covers the skip/pass button. This is very annoying making you leave the game and rejoin each round.

Please fix the bugs. I love this game, and is such a good online translation of the actual board game. However, it’s been almost unplayable recently…not sure what has happened. I keep getting the ‘buy up to {0} cards’ bug, and then can’t complete the game. Very annoying when you have spent 20+ minutes building your economy! I know you guys will fix, and then it’s a solid 5 stars.

Freezes. Game freezes when viewing cards while also viewing game state. Hangs at loading screen when trying to continue a game. These are only recent problems for me

Lack of internet gaming and social system. According to the poor internet connection which often ruined my online playing experience, I will never give the game 5 stars until it fixed. My karma level dropped to 2 only because of online connections. So many times I ran out of time just because I have to always restart the game to refresh the status or just to get into the game room itself. There are still so many bugs and things to improve, in the light of internet. And, why the hell in the world, when I entered a room and ready to play, I got lagged, when I came in again without time runs out, suddenly some sort of AI was playing for me?? Excuse me, why? I never had any these sorts of problem when I playing other games such as Through The Ages. By the way, sliding to check my cards in hand is difficult too. It’s way too easy for me to get back to main territory by mistouch. If the sliding can be more freely, fluently, will be soooo good to operate. And most important thing. I can never add a friend, I don’t know why. I can’t search out the ID of the players I’ve met, it only shows NONE. I also can’t find him inside a lobby over 500+ people. Why can’t we just enter the profile of people who are playing or talking together so I can easily tap heart? Or can I know who I just met in last finish game? Just like HearthStone. I just want to add friends. And the system leaves my almost impossible to do that. I don’t know if it’s a bug, but my experience was surely bad. I’m longing for the improvement of the friend system.

Good game. However, many bugs in the newest update

Recent fixes make online worth it. Great recent update have really enjoyed the online games( still multitasking issue when ai enabled). Main bug I’m running into is when I’m playing a high card turnover game( generally against bots) it seems to crash when I get to the end of the deck? Never got close to the end of a deck irl so wonder if full deck is present? Would be good for it to reshuffle or just not give cards at that point as the game is generally about to end 🤷‍♂️.

Great game but a terrible app. Bad app

Fix the game!. I dropped my rating to 3 star because this game is unplayable online, If you get a call or if you swipe up the control centre or get the low power mode notification you will get disconnected, then once you resume the game it is stuck on your turn and you can’t play. Once this if fixed I will rate this game 5 stars.

Private multiplayer not showing cards. Doesn’t do what it says on the box. Bought to play with friends but when we start a game only the person on the PC can get cards and Corp cards. Both mobile users just see the floating Mars. Our names are tagged on left and it says the pc user is ready but we get nothing showing up. All we can do is ‘chat’. Terrible. Will update if I figure out what’s wrong or they fix this major issue.

Having fun. It’s a good app for playing AI and solo. Missing playing the board game but this is a great substitute. Imantium

Needs refinement. Notifications don’t work, and there’s no undo button. So easy to mis-tap something on a tiny phone screen. How was this an oversight in the development process? Pretty disheartening to play a 2-3 hour game only to be crushed by a mis-click that you can’t undo.

Card Not Working. The ‘Power Infrastructure’ card was taking my energy but not increasing my money. Hope other card effects are working properly. iOS iPhone 6+

Infuriating online gameplay. It just burns when you play a game online with people for 2+ hours and then the server boots you off in the final moments as you’re about to win. I get kicked out or disconnected and have a bot play for me far too frequently than is acceptable. There needs to be considerable improvement for online interactive play, which for me, is the most fun use of the game.

Great underlying Game - implementation needs work. Update September 2021: I had previously been very critical of this game and it’s implementation for how poorly it performed in online play. As promised when issues were fixed I’ve updated my review! 4/5 stars up from 1/5! The gameplay is now significantly improved. Notifications work pretty close to the way they should and the whole gameplay experience is largely very good! I congratulate the developers/coders for the latest patch and the work that has gone into the game getting it to where it needs to be. There are still a few small things to sort out, and hopefully they will be! I look forward to seeing some of the expansion material included (hopefully) particularly the new maps, and new cards (including prelude) and starting corps which add to the variety and therefore replayability

Almost Perfect. Well it’s an incredibly faithful representation of the board game. The AI is good, but not perfect. In the last round of 2 you can “steal points and achievements “ cause they don’t play to stop you. Apart from that there’s nothing more satisfying than dropping meteors onto a planet to create oceans, plants and heat energy! Love the prelude. Love the new map expansions and new goals. There were a few tiny bugs that have been fixed. Devs are onto it! 5 stars!

Online unplayable. Online keeps kicking us out and crashing. Boo. Unplayable. How frustrating.

2.2 update won’t resume. Since 2.2 update attempting to resume a solo game results in a version error… still saving in 2.1 version so not recognized by update?

The game itself is phenomenal, the app on the other hand….. This game is awesome. Fun to play. Fresh every time you play it. My family have tournaments and have purchased multiple physical copies and digital copies. The digital version is bugged to hell. Constant crashes. My wife and I were playing today and the game just stopped working. We exited the app and tried to rejoin but to no avail. I’m hoping for more developer support in the future.

Too Small. Probably a great game. Way to small on my iPhone though, I was struggling to see the cards, made this unplayable to me. I checked the settings didn’t see a zoom option.

Great game with lots of “microbes” …. Fantastic adaptation of the board game. However, I have to restart it at least once a game because of bugs. I suggest that the developers remove some microbes from their cards … Bug list: (playing with forced animation on) Production phase display Overlapping interface (your hand, show cards played, game state, e.g.) popups that then cannot be closed without a full restart of the game — they persist even if you exit to the main menu. Disappearing cards-in-hand if the previous AI player drew a card. If the game is de-microbed, I’d give it 5 stars.

Excellent Game, buggy app. The gameplay is excellent but the app itself is buggy. It frequently needs to be force killed as it doesn’t show a game in the resume list, I’ve also had it get stuck or lose actions taken, a restart fixes it and nothing is lost but it’s annoying.

Couple of bugs in this version. When deciding which resources to use to decrease the cost of a card, it doesn’t properly calculate what I should be allowed to do sometimes. For example, I’m trying to buy Space Elevator (as Cheung Shing, so it should cost 25). I have 11 steel, 2 titanium and 3 MC. It forces me to pay all of the steel (won’t allow me to reduce it in order to pay, say, 10 steel, 1 titanium, and 2 MC). Had a similar problem when trying to play as Phobolog. Also, on the map hex that allows you to pay 6 MC and receive an ocean tile, it allows the AI to go negative in MC to play on that hex.

Awesome game, but…. This game is one of the best tabletop game ever. But the app is so bugged! I cannot believe that developpers take our money and develop an app with full of problems, not solving them.

Too many bugs. This game used to be great but I keep getting locked out of games, both online and solo. Then they get stuck in my game history. It’s impossible to finish a game at a later date, even one you’re playing with other people. I love the game and used to love the app but it’s borderline unplayable. It keeps updating then telling me my saved games are a previous version of the app and no longer playable.

Can’t Finish a Local Game. App is great, beautiful, runs well. It would be 5 stars EXCEPT THE GAME LOCKS WHEN YOU GO TO THE END OF A LOCAL GAME. You hit the final “turn plants into greenery tiles” step and the game just locks.

Crashes during final production. Since new update I’ve had two games in a row freeze before plant conversion, if I close game and reopen it will never launch! I play to record results! Won’t play until this is fixed….

Glitchy buggy garbage. Barely works

Mostly Great. Very faithful adoption of the board game but a few things keep it from being a 5 The major pain point is that tags aren’t properly counted You could have a card that requires 2 earth tags played for example and you won’t be able to play it because their algorithm for calculating tags on cards fails when multiple tags are present on a card. Sometimes once you make a decision you’re locked into that decision with no way of undoing it and you’re forced to go through the action (such as activating space elevator) Local games are restricted to pass and play instead of a lan type of solution Only prelude expansion is available at the moment Some of the things that led to the 4 is of course the faithfulness to the board game, the ability to speed up animations, and solo play

Great game, for the parts that work. The board game this is based on is fantastic. This iOS version is nice when it works, but hampered by a lot of issues. UI The UI is really small, even on a large phone. There’s a lot of game to cram into one screen, so it’s not surprising, but the font choices are poor for readability with very small text. The numbers for resources particularly can be difficult to tell apart (eg 5 and 6). A less geometric, more humanist font would help. The terraforming tracks for temperature and oxygen are almost impossible to tell how many steps remain until bonuses—this is absolutely critical information that can’t be found in game. You need to know the numbers by heart so you can infer the number of steps remaining. Terrible UI design for this element. Single player Solo games work great. The AI is fast, although not challenging, even on the hardest setting. After hundreds of games against the hardest AI, I have only lost once. Multiplayer Updates to the game have made it nearly impossible to play with people you know. There is no longer any apparent way to send a game invite to your friends unless they are actually in the game at that moment. What a ridiculous setup for a game that otherwise supports asynchronous play. Invites often don’t seem to work at all, even with your friends waiting in the online lobby. Once you actually have a multiplayer game going, the experience only marginally improves. Turn notifications are dodgy at best. Players can be randomly dropped and replaced with AI players (though it won’t tell you). If you leave card drafting on, RIP: it will take ages to get through a game, and you constantly get false notifications that’s it’s your turn when it’s not. You’ll end up selecting the same card 5 times in a row. If you all actually make it to the end of a game, sorry, only the player who takes the last turn gets to see the score. The game is just gone for everyone else. If you are playing with random people, in real-time instead of asynchronous, the experience may be better. I haven’t tried it because I’m not interested in that. Overall verdict A great game if you only want to play solo, you don’t care about a challenge, and you already know the boardgame inside out. Not a suitable way to play with friends, unfortunately.

Crashes. Great adaptation of the board game, but crashes constantly, especially in private games. Would love to see it stabilized, and then have the expansions added in.

Such a shame... Terraforming Mars is an awesome board game. However, the app version is rife with bugs. To name a few…Frequent need to reload the app, AI not consistently following the rules of the game, and worst of all…there is no game summary at the end so I have no idea who won or what the score was. I have also noticed the developers stopped commenting on reviews about a year ago which makes me think they are no longer focused on quality improvement, which for a paid app is extremely disappointing. This app could be such a perfect game with a few improvements.

DO NOT BUY. Read the recent reviews. This game is loaded with bugs and recent updates have not addressed all the issues they have. Most notably, multiplayer. Turn notifications, adding friends, adjusting the turn timer, and everything else you’d expect in a turn-based game is not there. Check back on this app in a year, maybe two at the pace they’re going at...

Bugged. The game won’t let me restore purchases

How not to app. Lost track of the number of issues we have with this app. It makes a good study for user experiences to avoid. Super slow to load app, painfully slower to load game. Resume game? No, it’s gone because developer did something, again. Game board state obviously has to rely on software version? Finished a game? Only one person can see results and now that game is permanently stuck in the resume menu and you can’t do anything with it. Your device can zoom? This app can’t, but you can drag Mars around a little bit, for absolutely no benefit or reason. App remembers your login, occasionally. Undo? No undo!!

Niveau de difficulté. Excellent jeu! Belle interface efficace. Toutefois, le niveau expert des intelligences artificielles n’est pas assez fort.

Needs an Undo button. Great game and quite artistically deployed, but it really really needs an UNDO button like most other app board games.

Solo mode no longer ends. After the last generation the solo game never ends so players can’t get a final score in game history. This used to work as I do have finished games from the past.

Don’t waste your money!. It’s beyond me how this got released- it is just a terrible, sloppy piece of work riddled with bugs and glitches and issues. Did no one test this? Are you all really ok with such an unstable and crappy product? ISuch a great tabletop game but so poorly executed here. There are other asmodee games that I’d like to buy, but based on this I would never even consider wasting my money.

Broke games that we’d already started. They seem to have no regard for this game. Latest update broken in progress games, seemingly so they can sell the DLC. I definitely won’t be playing this ever again.

Update failure!. so… I assume that updates are supposed to fix issues that occur in-game - either as complaints from users, or by bug reports from game to developers. Following update 2.05 recently, I have witnessed several issues with the AI in the game. Repeatedly purchasing green tiles, but money does not decrease - to tune of 8 in a row, all on the same turn. Apparent lock ups which will eventually clear after multiple clicks on different buttons on screen, etc. I will verify I have bug reporting enabled in my system settings to ensure these issues are being captured. I have used this app since it was originally issued on the App Store, and enjoy it greatly… but these bugs are becoming obnoxious after several years of development? Maybe it’s also time to implement another expansion as well? Thanks Following update 2.10.13… - lots fixed … but it broke the expansions for those who already purchased them - and the “Restore Purchases” button doesn’t fix it.

Not all DLCs are there. There are more dlcs in the board game but not in the videos game but very good game

Buggy. Revising my review. Failed to finish my last three games because either people leave and you literally have to sit there for 30-45min waiting for ai to take over - or is so buggy that it freezes and your own timer runs out. Constantly having to restart. Only buy this if you want the game to freeze on your last round! Oh and good luck playing against the ai. Basically impossible.

Please fix this app. Game is great and probably more practical than the actual physical version. However with every update we have hope but it keeps getting worse. As of the last update : - We are locked out of the games randomly and cannot load it back - We often have to completely shut down the app to see whether it's our turn or not - Previous finished or unloadable games stay in the game list forever. Since the last update we have been unable to fully complete even one game so we'll wait the next update to play again.

Bugger than ever. Title

Enough already - how about some fixes?. This is a great game... when it works. Playing multiplayer with friends and have yet to have a game without any issues. Usually, it is the turn notifications showing its your turn, but it isn’t. If you are drafting, you end up having to re-do your drafts each time. Something new today, after continuing to get notifications but no turn to do (action indicator absent), i got a message ‘You ran out of time’. I’d wait until the glitches around turns notifications get fixed before buying this. UPDATE to my post last week and reiterate my DO NOT BUY message. So many glitches with turn notifications and finished games that stay on the game list screen that a friend now refuses to play until fixed. These have not been new issues as can be seen by the many comments from many months ago. How about an update to fix this crappy coding. Don’t understand the high rating this app gets.

Great game, weak AI. Love this game, but wish the hard AI was more challenging. I consistently double the score of the second place AI in games with 4 hard AI opponents. Even the hard AI just focus on building up their energy, or raising the temperature when it’s already maxed and heat resources is one of the awards… I am getting a bit bored of the game because it isn’t that challenging, please improve the AI!!

Fix needed after update. Hey, love the game, recently downloaded the Hellas and Elysium expansion, but after all players pass it will randomly freeze gameplay and not distribute the new patent cards for purchase; restarting the app does not fix. Has happened all three attempts now. Update: one day later, after purchasing the Hellas and Elysium expansion, now all my expansions are missing?! Please fix.

Great game... when it works. Love this game...the app makes it faster to play and its amazing....when it’s not crashing on you. Quick tip...if the game starts to act weird on you.. draws that takes forever...a player plays a move but it is not showing on the log, a card is played, but in the log/card played is showing you something else... it’ll crash. Also, why is the timer wrong 100% of the time? It’s never displaying the right time and /or same time as your friends. Can’t count the amount of times that after a game of 2 hours, you can’t finish and see the result which for this type of slow pacing game is WRONG. Please fix this game asmodee :)

Unstable. Good game, but frequent crashes or freezes.

Superb adaptation of a brilliant game. Thoroughly enjoy this game. I’ve not had any of the issues others have mentioned here, although I’ve only played with AI opponents. I can’t imagine playing this on an iPhone, it’s good on iPad and even better on Mac. It would be great if the developers created a native Mac version though.

Many issues with the last update. Unable to play correctly after the last update ! Do not buy it

New update is so so buggy. New update has so many bugs but the worst one is that none of my expansion purchases show that I’ve bought them. The “restore purchase” button doesn’t work, it’s super annoying. Please fix it soon, I’m so sick of only playing Tharsis.

Great but comes with bug. Great game when it doesnt bug

So frustrating. Love the original game and had high hopes for the online version but it is a complete waste of money. I have yet to be able to complete an online game. Every time I get booted out at least once and then the server seems to crash and I can’t log back in to finish the game. Extremely disappointing.

Great game but too many crashes. Love this game but it keeps crashing on my iPad. Also seems to mess with the brightness levels I’ve set for my display.

Extremely buggy.... It's such a shame, because it's a great game. My guess is about 60% of the online games I play suffer some kind of issue which makes the game unplayable. Sad because I really enjoy it.

Used to be fine- now it glitches so consistently you can’t finish a game. Not sure why it keeps getting ‘updates’ that don’t improve the game *and* with each one the app crashes and glitches more and more often. Love the game, used to love the app, but it’s not possible to complete a game anymore because some element gets stuck or glitches (can’t place an ocean for example).

Best board game. Even better on the app.. Just brilliant.

Terraforming Mars iOS. Vraiment un bon jeu . Jouez votre partie en moins de 40min ! Un must!

Current version is unplayable…. Freezes on app startup requiring a full reboot on 7th gen iPad. Game freezes and crashes with “out of sync” error message that repeats when re-entering the game. Dropped in rankings and karma due to these glitches. Recommend rolling back to previous version as a that was mostly playable

Not a gamer but LOVE this. Very happy with the engine building and the challenges that come with it. Wish there was a genus expansion to match the board game!

Pass and Play bugged. Consecutive games bugged when reaching the final round’s greenspace placement on pass and play. The save file is also then corrupted and can not be reloaded. Pretty frustrating when the games were both 1h + Its a great game when it works, but unfortunately can’t keep committing to 1h+ and having no conclusion. Single player has no issues so if you that’s what you are looking for its a good choice

Expansions?. What happened to our purchased expansions? I updated to the newest edition and now it will not restore my purchases of the two expansions I already paid for.

Mon temps diminue quand l’autre joueur joue. C’est incompréhensible. Je ne recommande pas le jeu. Très frustrant!!!

Great adaption; needs some fixes. This is a great adaption of the board game for iOS. It’s a beautiful and intuitive interface. The multiplayer function works well, but the solo version is where it shines, making it easy to play a quick but full game. I’d happily give it an extra star for each of the following two fixes: (1) it doesn’t count the tags consistently or correctly, especially when there are multiple tags on a card, which can have a major impact on your strategy and ultimately cost you a game; (2) an undo button would be really helpful for when you accidentally select something.

Game needs constant debugging. Please, please fix this app. Terraforming Mars is an incredible game and this app does it a disservice. For months the chat feature in the game has been broken such that when you open it, you cannot leave it unless you close the app and re-open it. Games often freeze, which in multiplayer can be very confusing as multiple players are unsure of who is causing it or how to fix it. The result is many games where players simply leave without forfeiting, leaving the rest of the players to wait for their time to run out and hope the AI doesn’t crash. Players going afk is already a huge problem with the game.

Great as a board game but app is buggy and support is bad. As mentioned in the title. Don't buy this app. Most games either bug out or people leave game and leave you to wait for up to 2 hours. Of course you can forfeit but then your karma drops dramatically and then you can't find games anymore. Then everyone plays the expansions that they charge extra for and I refuse to buy until they fix this buggy garbage. I love the game itself but the app is bad. Tried to let support know that 90% of my dropped games were due to the game bugging out but I haven't heard back from them.

Tired of losing my games. As others have said, it’s utterly ridiculous that something as simple as game saving is not working. I thought I lost my first game because the app updated when between when I had stopped and when I tried to resume. And then a couple times I was able to resume after only stopping for a couple hours, but I’ve now lost probably 10 in-progress games so far. I have very little to complain about when it works, but I’m definitely not interested in starting a new game at the moment unless I have the time to finish it in one sitting. Very disappointing. Ruins a decent port of a great game.

Great Single Player Implementation//HORRIBLE Multiplayer. The team did a great job on capturing the essence of the board game. A+. For single player, couldn’t be better. However the 2 stars are for the abysmal multiplayer interface. Ouch on every front. Notifications , when they even work, tell you nothing about which game is up. I purchased this with 4 friends ($40+) to play together and we simply cannot in its current state. Games in async hang constantly with no one being able to do anything. Ugh, contact if you want the gory details, but if they fix this I will move to 5 stars easy. Thank you!

Multiplayer problems. Love the Terraforming Mars board game, so I bought the app. The app works well on single player mode, but in multiplayer it constantly freezers and crashes. Also when I click out of the app, then go back it boots me from the server. I’ve also noticed problems with single people player. When I leave the app in the middle of a game and the try to return to the game later sometimes it won’t load. I hope the app can be improved, I’d love to play it without the bugs.

Great game and app, one flaw. I love the game, and the app is even better when you don’t have to keep track of all the production and resources. It even does a great job sorting cards by various factors, so all in all it’s a great app. The one flaw is how the app will disconnect you from an online game at any interruption on your phone. Have a call come in? Disconnect. Screensaver comes on? Disconnect. This in itself wouldn’t be that bad, but the game also doesn’t send notifications while you’re out of it. So you have no idea if it’s your turn unless you stay in it, but you can easily get kicked. Fix this and it’s my favorite app.

Clunky UI and TERRIBLE AI. It’s impossible not to win every single game against hard AI. They make the WORST decisions. 1. AI doesn’t focus on milestones. Even when they can rush it to take it from another player they wont. I regularly get all 3 milestones against hard AI. 2. AI makes bad decisions. They love the “power plant” std project for some reason. Gives them lots of energy for no reason in the early game. Kills their engine and momentum. 3. AI doesn’t focus on awards. I had a game where an AI the bought thermalist award, then dumped all 64 of their heat cubes into the raise temperature goal when Mars was already at max heat. Handed me 1st place in the award for no reason. UI is rough. Can’t look at corp/prelude/project cards at the same time. Can’t see opponent cubes and cards once you decide to place a plant tile. Can’t undo moves. Game runs slow. I want to love this implementation of the game, but it just pales in comparison to actually playing against literally anyone IRL.

Great adaptation. Love this app, faithful adaptation of the game. Love to have everything automatically calculated for me. Just make sure you have a newer device to run it on, it keeps crashing on my old iPad mini, I use my phone instead. One suggestion for developers, give some sort of warning or visual tag when you are drafting / buying cards that are already past the terraforming threshold to play. I keep buying cards late in the game that I cant play because I don’t look closely enough. (My fault I know, but would appreciate the visual aid)

Okay. Everything is there, the user interface is just not very intuitive; it is kind of chaotic, many functions spreading all over the place. The user interface could also use a facelift. I only have an old, 4-year old iPad, but even on that the graphics look blurry and out-dated. Don’t get me wrong, the game is good and playable; it just takes a bit of time to get used to, and I could be a lot better. TLDR: All the functions are there, but the game could benefit greatly from a good designer and some better, higher-resolution graphics.

Decent board game replicant, poor multiplayer execution. The game flow automates the management complexity of the original board game well, but poor screen overlay management makes for a confusing multiplayer experience. A lack of session management seems to make multiplayer something you need to do synchronously with your group. We were stymied by one of our five players needing to confirm their inter-generation card selection despite having completed his selections before disconnecting. You are instantly disconnected from the online game on iOS if you momentarily switch applications or even get a notification. I kinda wish I hadn’t plunked down the $9 for this.

Great game, poor mobile game experience. I love this game, and own the steam version as well. This feels like a direct port from PC, and has none of the typical mobile features a board game app needs to play smoothly. This game as a mobile game MUST have asynchronous gameplay elements implemented ASAP. 1) If you are not connected when someone ends there turn, you only get to see what cards/actions were played using the history tab. (You lose the animations & some details of actions. I.E. how many cards were sold, where was a tile placed, etc.) 2) When you are notified it is your turn in a game, there is no indication as to which game the notification is from. This makes you load every game to see where it is your turn. 3) When a new generation begins, players much select what cards they are purchasing in player order, or the game doesn’t save your selection. This really slows down game play. I love this game & own it with all the expansions. I hope expansions are added in the future, but basic mobile game features need to be added first.

Good game, has bugs though.. Big fan of TM here from tabletop, and this iOS adaptation is pretty well done. I like I can take my turns and enjoy playing with friends on the go. The app does have a couple issues: 1) This might be iOS, but whenever I get out of the app and work on something else, I have to reload my session again. Not a huge issue, but does take about a minute to get ready again. 2) This one just happened today (4/13). I have been playing online with a friend, and when I press “Play”, the graphics indicate the pressure of the button, but no execution or effect. Nothing happens! I can Forfeit and check my buddy’s profile, but not continue our game. This is pretty frustrating, which prevents me from being able to play with my friend. Otherwise a great and fun game! Looking forward to the expansions and the above fixes! :-)

Fun board game, buggy implementation. I got this mostly for non-live online play. Unfortunately notifications don’t work and for whatever reasons sometimes turns will appear to go through but when you log on you’ll have to play again. Pretty frequently and inexplicably the “resume” game button will be disabled and you have to log in again to play a game. Also, anything on your phone that takes focus (switching to another app or even pulling down the settings to change brightness) will kick you out of a game and you’ll have to re-enter. The interface is also pretty small for even larger-sized phones.

Local play is Great. I have not tried playing online, but I’ve played several local games. I also own the physical copy of this game. The engine mechanics are much better digitally than with the physical cubes. This version also really helps to teach you how to play. I would get this game for the solo and local ai modes alone, and if the multiplayer works also, that’s the cherry on the top. Tons of replay value for the price with additional expansion content available via IAP. I’ll be playing many more hours of this game.

Love it but flawed. I love Terraforming Mars, and the app is great. However online play has issues. You are forced to select play time, but you just don’t know how long a game of TM will take. You invest all this time to play a game that takes an immense amount of time and then you get kicked out with a few moves left with no hope of resuming. There is a resume option and a play button to go back in, but they don’t work. We’ve just spent 2 hours playing a game and we’re kicked out about 5 minutes from finishing. There is nothing more frustrating. Between two people who love board games and just spent $18, that’s a huge time waste. In person, we play TM in 90 minutes. The timer deducted time for me to see what actions opponent took. Flaws. I should be able to select no timer, and be able to agree to extend the time during a game versus the game just kicking me out. Graphics are beautiful, animations are great. Not everything is obvious to find, but it is somewhat intuitive to those who have played the game in real life.

Just awful. Broken cards. Poorly implemented game. Unplayable.. I bought this app on three phones in my family. (This is after having spent a small fortune on the bird game and expansions, which I love.) anyway the app is a total waste of money. So many cards don’t do what they’re supposed to do that the game is unplayable. I mean it’s not unplayable, it looks good & you can play, but it’s totally frustrating when it doesn’t work properly. The app was clearly written by people who never played the board game. To add insult to injury, the game prompted me for a review & then never posted it. Shocking. I guess they only pass through the good reviews — no wonder the game has 4-star rating. So frustrating. Save yourself a great deal of anguish and DO NOT BUY THE APP.

Extremely fun, absurdly nerdy, needs a few updates desperately. I’ve played far more games than I’d like to admit and have no plans of stopping. However, this app could be five stars with two changes: 1. We need an undo button so, so badly. The buttons on the app are necessarily small and every once in a while you fat finger it and end up completely screwed as a result. Such are the margins of life on Mars. An option to undo the last action with consent of every player would be save many a civilization. 2. For the love of god, the notification system needs to be improved. 50% of the time I don’t get a notification that it’s my turn. And the rest of the time, the apps notification badge disappears if I open it and then close it again, even if it is still my turn. When that happens I run out of time and quickly reach Matt Damon in Interstellar levels of desperation. TLDR: I love this game, plz fix.

Great game with a glitch. I enjoy playing this. I play vs AI and solo. Solo challenge initially seemed impossible and now I can complete with any corporation. However, it does irk me that the computer doesn’t register all the tags associated with the cards you play, preventing you from reaching prerequisites for other cards. I think maybe with cards that have multiple tags it only registers one of them. I hope the developers will fix this glitch as the game is challenging and stands up to repeat play.

Amazing game!!! I’m obsessed!. This is the most amazing virtual mobile edition of any board game I’ve ever played. I can’t wait to see if the can incorporate Turmoil or Colonies next. I will say one thing… there has been a recent glitch where I’m having to forfeit and restart about four or five times because one of the AI players isn’t starting the game correctly. And I do seem to pull the same corporations a lot. Other than that this game is AMAZING!!!!!

Board-game is fun but who won online?!. Been playing the boardgame for a few years now, finally got some friends to buy the app and we have fun playing a game over several weeks. But if we dont take a screenshot at the end and share it with the other players, there is is no way to see who won! Wish the last action was to view the scoreboard before we lose access to the game. Can there be a game history including scoreboards for online games?

Latest update is garbage- Avoid. I had purchased the prelude card option and the game ran smoothly until last update. Now it won’t let me restore purchase. Not only can I not play the new corporations they’re touting, I can’t play the originals that I paid for. Another Update Same Result- Can’t Restore Purchases. Even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Obviously Asmodee isn’t interested in fixing. Save your money, there are better games out there with more talented programmers.

Love the game, hate the bugs. Terraforming Mars is one of my favorite games of all time, and this implementation works well in a lot of ways. However, when playing a competitive game, it can be a MASSIVE disappointment when the game glitches and can’t move to the next turn or presents a bug in the form of not letting you change the types of currency used to pay for a card (e.g., in the latest version, the arrows controlling titanium and steel to spend have straight-up disappeared). These kinds of bugs and errors make the game borderline unplayable against anyone other than the AI. So disappointing. Considering asking for a refund.

New bugs, please fix them!. Love this game, but the latest update introduced a couple of bugs that are really frustrating. First, when it’s my turn, the stack of my cards at the bottom center of the screen frequently disappears. Second, when an action to place a tile is available, sometimes tapping the screen does nothing. It seems like there is a new feature where tapping and holding a hex for a long time brings up a little status box for the hex - maybe related? Please fix these - thanks!

Dysfunctional local multiplayer. Despite this game having multiple updates over the years, playing with two people on a single iPad is a frustrating experience. The game will repeatedly say that it is one players turn only for the other player to be told it’s their turn immediately upon the first player clicking OK. But then that second player will then be told that it’s again the first players turn right after they click OK. Round and round and round. Turn after turn it’s goes like this. No actions taken by either player even though they were both told it’s their turn more than once. It just cycles back to the other player. This annoying redundancy is completely unnecessary. Ridiculous coding. Fix your game!

Great game, app needs a bit of work. Overall I think this is a great game and app. Online play is really dependent on who your playing. Aysnchronous play would be nice as it seems most games you join only have a 45-1 hour play time and that’s not usually enough time to finish. However that is the players fault, people need to select 2+ hour games. A tutorial on the different online games would be helpful. I’ve had issues when the AI takes over an online game, it soft locks. Definitely looking forward to the expansions!

Great game w/Expansion bug on iPhone. Love this game SO much. Have already spent many hours playing on both the iPad and iPhone. I enjoyed it so much that I went ahead and bought the expansion with the Corporate era rules and prelude cards—very fun. HOWEVER, I keep running into a bug when I play with the expansion on iPhone. I get a few steps into the game and then it freezes and boots me from the app! Big bummer. Writing this review hoping someone will see it and try to fix it. Thanks!

Love the app except please fix bugs. The latest release has introduced new bugs, as others have mentioned. There is an old bug that I’d love for you to fix however. The app doesn’t count tags correctly, which is especially frustrating when trying to win the science award or play cards that require lots of science tags. The issue is with cards that have two tags on them. Only the second tag is counted. Please fix this, thanks.

One important quality of life upgrade away from 5 stars. This is a wonderful app that works really well. But it desperately needs an undo button (for all actions that don’t involve drawing cards). It is so frustrating to not be able to go back when you realize that you could have done something better. Especially because it is more difficult to have a good overview of everything in the game as opposed to seeing everything at once on the table.

Almost there. It’s just bugs that need to get addressed. Main one is my friend and I trying to play async or s game over many days. Was working a few days ago but last 48 hours or games just will not load. Also hitting milestones on the heat and oxygen levels to where you gain heat production seems not to apply when doing so. Also ‘are you sure’ or ‘undo’ options would be good when you place your tiles in case you phat finger your selection. I’ll give 5 stars soon, it’s just about there, only a few bugs.

Hair-brained Execution. The time limit for each player is 30 mins... did you even play test the online feature? I've played a TON of tabletop Terraforming mars and never have I finished a game with 4 players in under 2 hours. To add insult to injury, when it is your turn the timer starts early while you watch the animations for the other player's last moves. It took some quick thinking to figure out that I needed to TURN OFF animations so I didn't get penalized 10 seconds by watching my competitor build a city or a greenery. I see that the devs have replied to comments addressing similar issues from 3 years ago and nothing has been fixed?! I'll stick to playing tabletop.

Great app with a couple of glitches. I’m am enjoying this game - it’s beautiful and even though it’s fairly complicated, it is easy to maneuver to see your cards, tags, actions, etc. Very well designed. I have run into a couple of issues. When I raise the temperature and should receive a heat production increase, I don’t, in either AI opponent or solo games. Occasionally the ocean tile bonus when raising the temperature doesn’t get awarded. I’ve also had a few cards that raise titanium production but it isn’t reflected in my titanium production. I’m playing on an iPad 7th generation with iOS 13.3.

Buggy buggy buggy. This is the buggiest app I’ve ever had in over 10 years of iPhones. It didn’t use to be the case, but the bugs have been accelerating over the last couple of years. It regularly hangs when it’s your turn to move, with the timer going down but not letting you do any move. The in-game chat function no longer works (it’s still there, but if you try to post something you get a message that the chat function isn’t available). And on and on. The only reason I gave it two stars is that the board game itself is excellent. But whoever is supporting this online version clearly doesn’t have the resources to stay on top of all the bugs. It’s very sad.

Multiplayer needs some QoL. For the most part a good port of the board game. Needs the following to make it more multiplayer friendly: 1. Load times after generation 6. With async multiplayer it can take up to 2-3 minutes just to load the board. Any navigation away from the game forces you to reload from scratch again. Please reduce load time and cache the game state on my phone. 2. No current victory point screen. It’s hard to determine where you stand since there’s so many places to calc points. A screen like Terra Mystica VP screen would be handy to see how you compare to other players would be great.

Serious Issues. When I first got this app I thought it was fantastic. That view has deteriorated the longer I’ve played. There are major issues that plague this app and seriously affect the playing experience. These issues have been known for a long time and no matter how much users notify the developers, nothing changes. We are screaming into a void. - The timer counts down during animations/even if you can’t play at a given moment. Even at the fastest animation speed this takes massive amounts of time from the game. - Many times I’ve had an online game bug out and completely break. - Plenty of bugs with specific cards. For example if you have protected habitats and you try to use ants/predators by accident and you can’t steal from anyone else, you will be stuck there. - if you disconnect from an online game (which happens a lot) it takes precious long time to reconnect. Developers: why are these issues being ignored?

AI awful. Multiplayer worse.. It’s impossible to create a community of players when it’s impossible to get games started. Unbelievably, in order to start a game, you have to have the app open to that screen in order for the game to persist. You can’t create a game, leave the app, and then get notified when someone joins your game because the game will just disappear. I played in the beta where this was already a big issue so I said I’d hold off on buying until this was fixed. I read somewhere that it was in the last patch, so I bought it. It wasn’t fixed. I’m going to request a refund and buy it again when they fix this. Since the player count is low (mostly because of this issue) it’s impossible to get a game started. Who releases a game like this?

Great app, with one small caveat. The app runs very smoothly, and easily lets you complete an entire local game in under two hours. That’s crazy fast for TM. I do hope other expansions make their way onto this. Now, my one caveat is that it’s tough to tell which direction the draft is passing. Since the turn order is arranged vertically, the terms “clockwise” and “counter-clockwise” in the instructions are tricky to parse. Regardless, it would be super helpful to have some onscreen indication of which player you’re passing to during the draft.

Bug Report. It’s a pretty good game but has been buggy recently. One bug I had was that I was told I lack the tag requirements but I had all the tags I needed when I viewed the tags… Also, more importantly, it’s locking me out of resuming my games… please fix this, I can’t always play the full game. I also don’t have any updates waiting and that’s the reason the app gives me for locking me out of the game, that it’s not compatible with version 2.2 - I started the freaking game in version 2.2

Forced to give this a poor review. This is one of my favorite boardgames with by far the worst app I have experienced. The layout is actually great - beyond that, it is FILLED with awful and sometimes absurd bugs that destroy gameplay and have not been fixed in the many months I have owned the app. The online experience is atrocious - your gametimer goes off while the other player is taking their turn, people are constantly dropped and replaced w AI, and oh, did I mention that if your phone idles or you accidentally open literally anything else, you automatically disconnect. This is such a good game, and it is such a bummer it is being handled with such incompetence. Get on your s$$t guys and let me give this 5 stars.

Five stars for game, 2 stars for execution. This is my favorite board game, but it’s un-playable online because of bugs. I just lost a game because the system wouldn’t register my moves and would impose a two minute lag after I moved. In a timed game, I was doomed. Then people penalize my karma because they think I’m slow. A couple of bugs with cards they need to fix. Beyond that, fun on an airplane with friends where there’s no time limit. But frustrating that I can’t take advantage of the online gaming. The solo mode would be fine, except the AI, even on hard, is too easy because it doesn’t seek synergies. But it’s a good introduction for beginners.

Latest spring 2023 patch renders game unable to score. I’ve played online and local with friends and AI. In all games since march’s update we can’t finish the game. The parameters are met to end the game and then the round ends. When the score should be tallying, the game freezes on the primary player or the 1st person of the new round. If I reload the app or uninstall reinstall the app - the game is stuck on the loading screen. All that time and effort lost due to a lack of ending. My teammates and I are now forced to save our last round score via screenshots to add up points manually to figure out the winner. Very disappointing. Won’t play again until fixed.

This App locks up, then will not reload the game in progress. 3 of us have been playing this game for over 3 years online. Since we added the Venus expansion a month ago the App locks up on 50% of the games we try to play. When we exit the App and try to resume the game, it gets stuck reloading the game at something less than 100%. Sometimes this happens in the early rounds and the last game it happened in the 10th round. Very frustrating! We’re not sure if it is because of the Venus expansion as we have only been playing with Venus corporations and card since we got the expansion. 3 of the last 6 games locked up and couldn’t be resumed.

Developers have fixed most bug, but could be better. Why does the pre-set times jump from 1 hour to 2 hours? Why not have a 75 minute or 90 minuter interval? I’ve have some games time out in last round and a 75/90 minute time limit would have been enough. 2 hour games scare off players, but 1 hour is too short if opponents get lots of action cards (which means animations that count against my time).

New update won’t restore my expansion purchases. I love this game. I hate this app. Every patch breaks something new. It’s impressive how little QA gets applied, but I think I’m done. In the past 6 months, I’ve had to forfeit every game at the scoring screen to move on, but that was okay, at least I got to play. But today, I tried to start a game , and had none of the expansion options. Tried the restore purchases button, and it did nothing. Followed a hunch and yep, new update. Well, I’m done, and I’m warning everyone else too. This app is broken and just stays broken. Don’t give them your money.

More enjoyable once you figure out online play. Changing from a 2 star to a 4 star because I figured out the online game play. I think it would be less frustrating for players new to the digital game, if there were more explicit instructions specifically for online play. The rule book of course doesn’t mention online play. Would be great if it was easy to understand what the times and the karma ratings meant and anything else specific to online play. I think I played my first online games without knowing that the time was each player’s time bank. If that time bank runs down, you lose the game.

Best board game, worst developers. I have been playing TM for years now table top and online. Over time the game has had bugs, kicked you out 1 hour+ into a game, had glitches that ruin things, but i kept playing because the game is great. Then they finally got it stable and added preludes and the other boards which are the base of making the game more enjoyable. Then they update it, lose connection to the 2 expansions for all iOS users, have zero communication, and we are quite a few days into boards full of frusteated users. Its just unacceptable that a dev wouldnt test implementation before releasing a forced update. And if its somehow a signing issue with apple try to let your users know whats going on.

No quality control !?!? Won’t restore my purchase!?!?. Super buggy. Hangs often (requires force-quitting the app then restarting). After latest “update” it lost our purchase of Prelude option, and will not restore the purchase. Cannot even log into my account (hangs every time). Absolute trash with no quality control. But the graphics are cool, and when it does work it’s fun. Previous review (fixed in latest release): Cannot finish any local game. When playing locally on iPad, EVERY TIME we are at the final stage of the game it just hangs. Won’t progress to the end. No way to see the final score. Unbelievable!

Great port with troublesome flaws. Great game and fun on the phone or tablet. However, I mainly play multiplayer asynchronous (setting the timer at 45 days), and there are three huge problems: 1) Notifications are broken and don’t work at all. This is terrible especially when drafting. 2) Anytime you leave the app or even check an imessage from the dropdown notification, you lose connection with the app and have to restart the app. This would not be a big deal except.... 3) Starting a game back up in the middle takes *a very long time* to load. I am talking 30 seconds or more, which is an eternity when you are just looking to check in, make a move, and go. Other than this, the app is great. However, this lag hurts the gaming experience so much that I can only give 2 stars right now. I think fixing each problem would give it a third, fourth, and fifth star from me.

Well adapted to mobile. Terraforming mars is an amazing game but I was skeptical when I saw the mobile version. I thought the game had too many aspects to it to fit it all on a phone screen. Nevertheless, the UI feels very intuitive and it works very well. It makes a great game to play on a flight or when you have time to kill. Some nitpicks that don’t quite warrant dropping it to four stars: -The Hardest AI is still fairly easy for experienced players to beat -As of now, prelude is the only expansion that can be bought

Great game killed by bugs. The implementation of the game is great - looks terrific, easy to play, etc. But online multiplayer is so buggy it’s nearly unplayable. Across a single game, all of us have gotten mysteriously kicked out of the game multiple times. Moves have disappeared and had to be remade. Occasionally the cards disappear and the only way to get them back is to quit out and re-enter. And now on our 2nd game, one of the players was kicked out and it wouldn’t recognize his login. When he finally got back in, the game had disappeared from his account and it seems that we need to scrap it and restart. Not acceptable at any price.
