TP-Link Omada App Description & Overview

What is tp-link omada app? Omada app is used for configuring and managing your Omada devices. You can change settings, monitor the network status and manage clients, all from the convenience of a smart phone or tablet.

STANDALONE MODE
Standalone mode is designed for managing EAPs or wireless routers right away without having to spend time configuring a controller. Each device is managed separately. This mode is recommended for networks which only have a few EAPs (or wireless routers) and require only basic functions, such as home network.

CONTROLLER MODE
Controller mode works together with a software Omada Controller or a hardware Cloud Controller, and is suitable for managing multiple devices (including gateways, switches and EAPs) centrally. Controller mode allows you to configure and automatically synchronize unified settings to the devices in the network. Compared to Standalone Mode, more configuration options are available and supports to manage more devices in Controller mode.
You can manage devices in Controller mode in two ways: via Local Access or Cloud Access. In Local Access mode, the Omada app can manage devices when the Controller and your mobile device are in the same subnet; in Cloud Access mode, the Omada app can access the Controller across the internet so you can manage your devices wherever you are.

Compatibility List:
The controller mode currently supports hardware cloud controllers (OC200 V1, OC300 V1), software Omada Controller v3.0.2 and above. (To experience more features support and more stable services, we recommend that you upgrade your controller to a new version).

Standalone Mode currently supports the following models (with latest firmware):
EAP245 (EU)/(US) V1
EAP225 (EU)/(US) V3/V2/V1
EAP115 (EU)/(US) V4/V2/V1
EAP110 (EU)/(US) V4/V2/V1
EAP225-Outdoor (EU)/(US) V1
EAP110-Outdoor (EU)/(US) V3/V1
EAP115-Wall (EU) V1
EAP225-Wall (EU) V2
ER706W (EU)/(US) V1/V1.6
ER706W-4G (EU)/(US) V1/V1.6
*The latest firmware is required and can be downloaded from https://www.tp-link.com/omada_compatibility_list.

TP-Link Omada Comments & Reviews 2026

No horizontal view?. App is ok but why can’t it be rotated, that’s a pretty basic feature…

Useless for standalone. The standalone ap page shows me as connected to the wlan of the device and then lower down tells me I’m not connected to a wlan.

Decent products totally let down by pathetic device control software. I have no idea why this doesn’t work with the TL-R605 security gateway. The device is good but let down by the very poor integration of control. The only way to control locally is web based because of zero support for Mac’s. Very short sighted in 2021. Come on TP-Link. I thought that you actually wanted to be a competitive brand and not just a low cost clone hardware company. Guess not.

Stopped working. It used to work on my Oc200 with firmware 1.2.3, but now it doesn’t. Can’t log in to the device locally using this app. I get an unrelated error message about getting logged out every time I try.

Needs to be available. Not being able to connect to it unless the software is running on a machine renders this app useless. Why have a cloud service if you can’t access it unless some other computer is running all the time???....

Improving but needs more focus on UX/UI. The app is getting better but Im sure many of us that may use an iPad with a keyboard for administration through the app would love that it supported landscape mode. This is a simple win that would be greatly appreciated. We all welcome frequent and consistent updates. If there is a feedback area to request these enhancements we would love to know. Thanks!

Doesn’t work. Says it’s connected to the EAP WAN but then below that says you must connect to the EAP WAN

Please add 2FA. We definitely need 2FA for more security. Please consider TP-Link..

Awesome overall but needs work. Bought the Omada system a few days ago, ER605 router, OC200 controller, and SG2218 switch. I played around with the ER605 in standalone mode for a couple of days and there's a lot of awesome features packed into it. However, a lot of those features are missing in the Omada control panel/GUI. For example, ARP Spoofing Defense, Flow Control, manual Duplex selection on the gigabit ports, WAN Failover Ping and DNS Query settings, and several others. There's also a slight issue with bandwidth for those getting full gigabit speeds from their ISP. My previous gaming wireless router easily gave us 940Mbps peak over Ethernet. The Omada system, however, only allows up to 700-800Mbps peak. If I remove the OC200 controller and just use the ER605 in standalone mode, I can disable ARP Spoofing Defense, enable Flow Control on the WAN, and we get the speeds we should be getting. We're not the only Omada users experiencing this issue. Additionally, the Omada GUI through a web browser is not optimized for tablets and super clunky. It will randomly scroll when you're trying to do something, hint buttons pop up and then disappear within a split second so you can't read anything, the overall aspect ratio doesn't fit iPad and crops out content, and so on. Overall, TP-Link Omada is potentially a formidable competitor to UniFi. However, these bugs, lack of features, and bandwidth issues need to be ironed out. I believe they can be.

So user friendly even for dummies!. I’m very happy with the app, not a single issue to setup the entire network and manage it, even easier than the browser! High five!

Doesn’t work with iPhone. Downloaded the app and followed the instructions. The app requests access to your local network but under settings there is no option to allow it access to your local area network. So the app won’t work.

Speed of network. Can you increase the number you are allowed to put in for the speed of your network? You are max at 1000. I have a 1.2gb per sec network. The speeds are increasing so it needs to be much faster at least 2.5 gb per sec.

Simple, reliable. Pretty feature rich for an AP management app. I use the app to interface with the AP by way of the management controller hosted on an Ubuntu VM. Works much the same way my Ubiquiti app does for controlling my UniFi APs.

Connection Lost. Support to get the app to work or configure an EAP245 is worthless! Each Live Support person times out on me.

Portrait only.. Yet *another* app that forces you into portrait mode. As a productivity user who has Omada as a home setup, it probably doesn’t come as a surprise that I tend to use my iPad with a keyboard and typically have my iPad in landscape mode. Unfortunately Apple provides no way to force the rotation of apps made for iPad. Ironically, I can do it for iPhone so I’d rather have the iPhone version of this app than the iPad one but I have no choice to do that too. Leaving a star since I appreciate that they built the app, but it’s so annoying to use; only slightly less so than their web app on iPad. It’s a good web app too, but yet again, poor optimization for iPad.

Not all settings are available. Cannot switch VPN on or off. Lots of settings missing from the iOS app.

Crashes instantly after connecting to controller. The app crashes instantly after connecting to an oc200 running the current software.

Need Landscape orientation. Can you please give the app the ability to rotate to landscape orientation? I use an iPad Pro for work, and the ability to rotate the app to landscape orientation would be amazing for use with larger devices. Portrait orientation is awkward for large screens.

Firmware Update. The update caused the owner not to be able to do anything in the app even on the web based site it has locked the owners out.

Crashes when accessing local controller. When I tap on a local controller the app immediately crashes. I was able to access the controller without issue in a previous version of the app.

Decent, missing option to control router. Good app pretty basic, but I would like to be able to control omada compatible routers without having to do it through a software controller

Stopped recognizing AP. Suddenly stops recognizing AP. I have only one AP and connected to it but this app has a mind of its-own.

Features Missing. On older versions, as far as I remember, you used to be able to change a schedule for any SSID you wanted to. Now with the recent update you can no longer update Wi-Fi schedules or pause Wi-Fi SSIDS through the iOS app. You have to do it through the web based console. Please bring those features back.

Pretty Solid. Everything works pretty smooth obviously it lacks more management tools as far as configurations for each access point, of course the web based version is more advanced but if they keep adding features from the web based it’ll be perfect, tremendous customer support

Needs some real improvements. One you can edit items names of the name that’s on your APs for some reason it works on a few ….. Two the stand alone APs set up works from time to time where you you can’t turn the the LED on and off and let not get on the the cloud connection that works when it feels like it.You can migrate or let alone connect to your APs .So over all the desk top app and the Mobile app needs a real overhaul to fix simple problems that making the app look bad in my eyes. There’s no such thing as improvements if you never correct the problems

Great application!. Simple and easy to use, can meet all the network management functions I want.

Fast and simple. I just set up my 3 access points and OC 200 controller in less than 30 minutes for my RV park. This system is so easy. I previously set up a ubiquiti unifi system that took day s to figure out. I am sold.

无法记住密码了. 这次升级后 总是要求重新输入密码 需要经常进入 极为不方便 算是bug吧

Good, continuing to improve. TP-Link continues to improve their product. This review is based on v4.8.30. Convenient new features are released with corresponding controller updates, but some issues persist. Dark mode finally added. Bugs/Issues Include: Not able to set wireless network security to PPSK or modify PPSK profiles. • When creating a wireless network, unable to select “WPA 2 Only” encryption - must select “WPA/WPA2” which is less secure or “WPA2/WPA3-SAE” which some clients don’t support. • List of wireless clients no longer shows which EAP each client is connected to. This is a step backwards! • Unable to run a speed test from within the app.

Completely Useless. I have an eap610. My iPhone can see and connect to the eap610, but the Omada cannot find it.

Keeps deleting Omada Controller. The app keeps deleting the Omada controllers that I add, this has happened 4 times already, need to fix this!!

Remote control is supported.. Remote control is supported. Great!

IOS 14. Keeps crashing in the AP page after updating to iOS14

Good job. Easy to use, nice UI Hope to add remote control function

Professional Service!. Great management system for businesses of all sizes.

New functionality needed. The application does not remember client settings in sort and display options. Each time it will reset the view to its default settings.

Be nice is it worked with 2FA. Would be nice if it was updated to work with two factor authentication.

Handy tool for IT contractor. Upgraded client’s network to Omada Wednesday. Installed the app this morning and already resolved an issue from my lawn chair. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Please fix missing ‘select all’ logs. Love the Omada system and App but on this latest version (4.8.30) when the internet goes off for extended period you end up with hundreds of logs of the router failing to find WAN IP Address and in this latest version you have removed the ‘select all’ options in the settings - log page so you have to select each one manually for batch archive or batch delete.

Omada App - some functions broken on IOS 13.5. The “APs” function doesn’t show the radio channels and utilisations anymore. Also you cannot configure the “Radio” and “WLAN Group” settings from the App. It says ‘Operation failed. Please check network connection and try again.’

Speed Test Missing. Can you please add Speed Test option back to omada controller?

Good until today. Net played up today. Now er605 is disconnected in app. The eaps are connected fine. Not sure how to reconnect er605.

Perfect for remote support. We have a busy home network, two of us work from home and way too many IOT devices :-) ... the standard wifi from our ISP was not up to the task. Now with two EAP225s and the OM200 my wireless connections are almost as fast to the outside works as wired devices! And with this app I can take calls from my partner or kid wherever I am, log into the OM200 and fix problems... I look like super dad... and my family no longer complains that my clients get better support than they do :-)

Welcome back on iOS with the V3.0.33. Many thanks for the update to the version 3.0.33 for iOS users.

Features NOT available. Hey 👋 I am using apple and hardware controller. I do not see most of the features highlighted here. Like, no statistics page, no access to manage VPN from mobile etc. What is wrong?

Terrible app. To link EAP610 is terrible. Info on set up and troubleshooting info are not consolidated on website. Any so called help on loving in does not work . When trying to sign it keeps saying can’t find server. Very frustrating and time consuming. Even tech help was fruitless. Doing a Google search takes me to TP to fine my unit and the eap 610 isn’t even listed.

No way to clear all logs. One thing that’s really annoying is the lack of ability to clear all logs without manually selecting each one. I get thousands of log entries and if I want to clear them, I’d literally have to checkmark each one of them. Please add a ‘Clear all’ function.

No need to app Omada. Omada app looks good. Very easy config AP. However, the main security feature of AP is client isolation or SSID isolation. This feature hides in the web UI of Ap, it can be access from 192.168.0.254 default address. After enable isolation. The Omada app is not usable. Same to someone trying to hack your wifi. They will fail because no use to link to your wifi anymore. All are isolated . Client and network. Your main router and pc are all safe now. As to software controller , it is a joke. Never working and actually no need to use. You access web ui from wired pc and do the configuration of AP and save the setting. All is done.

Limited functionality and NO LANDSCAPE mode!. This app has so many potentials but has very limited functionality vs the Web version. Also it is missing LANDSCAPE MODE for iPad. Although it has limited functionalities, by adding a LANDSCAPE MODE I will give it more starts

Omada is great. App could improve a bit.. I get that the Cloud is “the” main source for controlling our Omada networks but considering Apps are a primary go-to (and much quicker) for most people, I’d like to see some more functionality in the App. Port management / forwarding, and client-specific configuration settings (vpn, assign to AP, etc) would be nice. Bigger issue is Omada’s feature to force a client to an AP doesn’t work at all (yet), even though the cloud lets you do so, and this makes you think it works. I’d also like see better reporting capabilities on internet bandwidth usage by client. You can kinda do it, but it’s not as easy as selecting a date range and sorting all clients by downloads or uploads, and I can’t tell if that’s just internet or if it includes internal traffic (which I’m not concerned about as much). All that said TP Link does great work, and updates/improves their firmware continually which is Excellent. The Omada system offers something nobody else does for a small/mid business in a way that is scalable (costs and technical skill dependent). Keep it up!

Business access point for the elite businessman. I love it so much!

Not bad. Was pretty easy to set up and navigate first try. My tablets are wall mounted landscape and the app only displays portrait

Wow fantastic. I was able to setup my Eap245 in 2 mins!!. I spent 3 hours using the garbage Omada software for windows it kept saying provisioning. Please post this software link in the support section. It’s missing on feature the guest portal setup. If that is included you don’t even need the Omada software for windows at all. I wish knew about this software before I spent 3 hours trying to get my AP configured
