Excellent product but room for improvement. It works pretty seamlessly in my car, but there are a few things I'd like to see added/improved: 1. Audio from iOS navigation app (I use Waze) conflicts with music playing from Roav app. This only happens if you started music first before asking for directions. If you switch to Roav app and then back to Waze, then both are able to play sound. An annoyance but at least there's a workaround. 2. When playing music, music info (artist, album, song) does not display consistently on the lock screen. I can get it to come back by switching to the Roav app so it's in the foreground, but I shouldn't have to do this. Very annoying. 3. I would like to see the Roav have a persistent state so that when you start the car, it remembers what you were last playing so you can just say "Alexa, resume" to pick up where you left off.

Just OK. Even after setting the toggle to open App-automatically when connected app does not open. I have to open manually. I have shout for the device to hear me even when parked.

Latest version needs help. The latest version of Roav Viva iOs app has a problem with near continuous Bluetooth connection popup notifications. Every 10 to 30 seconds while my iPhone is awake and I’m away from the car, I get a pop up saying the Roav is connected. The Roav has no power when the car isn’t running and I’m quite sure it isn’t actually connecting when it claims to be. Very annoying. Seems ok if I’m in the car and actually connected. Please fix this.

Meh. Works about 10% of the time. CONSTANTLY crashes and with the new update takes about 20-30 mins to try to connect via Bluetooth. I have basically given up on trying to use it. It worked decent a few weeks ago. But now it’s more of a hassle trying to make it work while parked/trying to drive Anywhere. Seriously not even worth it anymore.

The app is pure garbage!!. I’m trying to figure out how the hell so many people have this app above 2 stars. This app is atrocious. You’re better off using the 2 charging ports the Roav Viva car charger has and leave the Alexa feature the hell alone. All kinds of connection issues, app bugs, and just frustrating experiences. You developer guys need to go back to your mother’s basement where you started this project and come back when you get things right. You know all the issues this app has so don’t be without integrity and act like y’all don’t know what’s wrong. We shouldn’t have to explain what y’all should already know. Maybe you should try using the app. One thing y’all got right was making it free. iPhone XS Max 256GB with iOS 13.1.2 with the app version being 1.2.1.

I really like it. So far it has worked great wish I could just use phone on speaker instead of aux cord but none the less I have enjoyed it

Seems like a great Idea. But it doesn't work like you would expect. First attempt took 30 minutes to get it syncd to my iphone 7+ Once I got it synced did 20 minutes of updates to my device and thought I was good to go. Day 2 with the device and its right back where I started. It sees the device and the bluetooth is connected but the app will not connect. I thought what a great Christmas Gift idea. Im glad I only purchased one. I will be sending it back.

Alexa what was that song?. Having a voice interface has been a game changer for me and I’m rediscovering all kinds of music genres. That and sooo much safer being able to ask the Roav VIVA to setup routing for waze or getting a different genre of music going.

Bluetooth. My Roav VIVA pro car charger won’t connect to my phone’s Bluetooth. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling app several times and will connect the first day then next day won’t connect. I have had device for less than a year; I don’t feel paying $70 for a product and a malfunctioning after less than a year is acceptable. Please help me to fix issues.

My music. So much fun to hear music I enjoy in my car. Sometimes I just want to keep driving.

Keeps logging out. My app logs out constantly. At least before I hit login and it’ll go through the auto login. Now it won’t even do that. Have to type in password each time and reauthorize is a real pain esp while in the car and when on the way.

Better than echo auto. Connecting to the radio is a plus

Wow! Great sound.. My older model Audi doesn’t have Bluetooth. Roav is the only wireless device that connects to my car FM radio with CD quality sound! It’s a game changer.

Like and old friend. I travel extensively for work and while on the road I actually missed my Alexa. Now while driving I have the familiar friendly voice to give directions, set reminders or even just tell me a joke.

$40 annoyance. They need to fix this app for iOS users as I speak I get 20-30 times a day interrupted as I use my phone with the app just opening whenever it feels like it needs to... The developer is well aware of the issue it just doesn’t care to fix it at this point I wish this would actually work... Another issue is the navigation motivations don’t come up on screen to start the journey so instead you either have to ask Alexa to give you directions whittle your open in the app looking at the phone which defeats the whole purpose of the device

Great device, needs a little work still. I really like having Alexa in my car and connected to my automated home! I only wish I didn’t have to switch to the Aux input on my stereo when using Bluetooth to my radio. I assume if Siri works without switching between Aux and the radio that this device can do it as well, just needs a software update to do the same thing...hopefully this is something the developer will add as its not ideal to switch back and forth between the radio and Aux input every time I use Alexa.

All I expected and more. I am truly satisfied . Have no issues what so ever . Just make sure you read the instructions . Great little gadget . 5 stars

Roav av car charger with Alexa. Love this!! What I love most is being able to pick the music I want and like to hear Just ask Alexa 👍🏼🤗 And I also like not having to go into my phone to look for directions Alexa is so much smarter then Siri.

Roav Viva. My home is in a poor LTE reception area so, when starting in the morning, things take a couple of minutes to settle down. Once connected to the network this device works well and does all kinds of neat things, including operating my garage door from voice commands. Support from the Roav phone support line is phenomenal. A gold star standard for any service organization to aspire to!

Please add landscape mode.. I have an iPhone X and use Waze in landscape while driving. Having the Viva app be portrait is most inconvenient as you cannot simply swipe back and forth between apps. Also, I often have issues playing music- stating I need to connect my phone to my cars Bluetooth. But this app is the only one that seems to have the issue. I sometimes can fix it by disconnecting and reconnecting my phone to the Viva. I suspect it might have something to do with the Viva connecting to my phone before the car.

Love this. I love the simplicity of this I love the fact that I can go down the road and I do not have to touch my phone so much safer everyone should be required to get one of these I feel You want to have a cell phone you should be required to be responsible with it thank you so very much for this

Perfect for our needs. App is easy to use and I’m so glad that Anker/Roav released the Viva Pro with the aux connection option. We’ve had no issues using either app or device in any of our vehicles.

It’s just OK. The real Alexa devices just work. This works fine most of the time. But if you update the app there’s always setup you have to do over again and the interaction between the three devices (car/phone/VIVA) gets in weird sync states and stops working far too often for something you are supposed to interact with while driving.

Roav Pro Review. Everything works great except when u try to call from car stereo

Works great. I compared both of the current Alexa Car Systems. This one had more features and I liked the idea it also featured a blue/ Cyan changing color. I'm extremely plywood my purchase. I have Apple Car Pay in my truck via aftermarket Kenwood unit. The Viva works just great with the car play,just make sure you enable use built in apps in the Viva set up instructions. I even bought a device to have my constant on cigarette lighter turn off and on with the car. Viva support mentioned the Viva unit should not be kept on. If I don't use Apple Car play then when I turn the car on the Viva app says welcome. I can go to the open app or just talk to Alexa and the response will play through my phone. When I use Car Play it plays through the cars stereo system. Very pleased with my purchase, you will love it. Frederic

Like It. Very convenient for my podcast and access to Waze and Alexa skills such as games on long, family road trips.

I so want this to work!. Have tried on several occasions but this will not work with an iPad. Even in “tiny window” mode. Seems you have to use a phone and it must be Bluetooth-paired to the car’s radio. Can’t even use a USB cable. Was hoping this would be fixed over time but it’s been several months and it still doesn’t work. Have to keep pairing and unpairing my phone every time I want to use it. I hate having to have my phone pared to the cars radio all the time. I need to use a dedicated device (iPad mini) for in the car. Two stars because if I feel like spending a half hour to set it up it does seem to work.

Mostly fine, but.... The app is mostly fine, but the setting for the welcome message constantly resets!! It’s to the point where I am so triggered every time it starts telling me to open the gd app. I know to to open the app! I turned the welcome message off! But it keeps turning itself on!! FIX THIS!!

Waste of money. The roav device is not showing up in the accessories list to pair it and no help for this issue is offered on the website other than “use another phone” like I have so many cell phones to switch between. Wouldn’t recommend buying unless you don’t mind if it decides not to work.

Great. Working really great in my Dodge Charger. Hook up and connection went well with no problems. Was up and talking to ALEXA in less than two minutes. I also have ALEXA all thru my apartment so I am well familiar with it. Didn’t really expect it to work so well in the car. Highly recommended.

Device great. App horrible. The device itself works very well. That being said the app is horrible! To clarify at least two dozen times a day it pops up and tries to connect even when the app is closed and the device is powered off it wants to connect every other Bluetooth device in my home. It even tries to launch when I am using my podcast app or Fitbit app. Functionality wise the app is OK does what it’s supposed to do if it didn’t constantly annoy By launching even after I’ve closed it I’d probably give it five stars. But they need some serious app development before I could recommend this to anyone.

Stay with it!. At first the product was hard to get installed. Directions could be better. But, they have an excellent support team. They are better or equal to any support people I have dealt with in a long time. They got me up and running in no time. I recommend the product and their support team!

Works like a charm. I installed my Alexia to a DC plug. Installed the app followed all the prompts and waited for it to up date. Once that was done I tested it by turning on lights in my house, changed the level of the thermostat all from my car. When I arrived home the lights were on and the thermostat was set to the level I asked for. This is a fantastic product which is very easy to setup. If you want to control your house from your car this is the one to buy.

Would like to be able to put an app icon on CarPlay. I love Alexa. Viva can be a little bit complicated to get set up every time. It might just be me. I would like to see the option to add an icon to my CarPlay.

So simple, it’s genius. This thing is fantastic! I plan on purchasing another for my wife’s car. It breathes new life into my car and is so simple to use. 100% recommended.

Sort of works- I would not recommend this.. Bought this item with the hopes of adding Bluetooth to the car. I use my iPhone 13 pro. The app and the device are problematic at best. Connects when it wants to and almost never plays music over th car stereo. Whe it does work if you receive a call it is loud and clear but when it switches back to the music the volume is at a quarter and does not get back to a normal level of volume. Pairing unpairing and forefront the device does not help the problem. I would not recommend this product. It’s a great idea but fails miserably for $100 dollars.

Just don’t.. I hope someone reads this before purchasing the equipment. It is 100% not worth it. There are connection issues everyday. They supposedly sent an update out awhile ago to help with it staying connected, it did nothing. Even after you spend 10 mins getting it connected it’ll play a song then disconnect. I will spend most of the car ride just trying to get it connect and it’ll continue to say connection failure. It is not worth the money or the frustration.

Fix this!!. Even when my settings are set to not turn on when connected and to not display welcome, the app opens constantly when I’m anywhere near my car. I’m going to have to uninstall this because its opening on its own every time I try to do something on my phone. (Twice while typing this review!)

Brilliant - but!. I love the VIVA and it works brilliantly for calls and navigation, but my car is old and doesn’t have a Bluetooth media connection, so I’ve had to add a separate Bluetooth speaker to make it work for everything.

Works quite well!. Though the directions aren’t exactly accurate to get it to work, it does work quite well.

Problem with Roav Viva iOS update 3.4.0. The app crashes and closes a few seconds after it connects. I checked the Roav VIVA for updates to see if that could be the problem, and no updates were available. It received an update when I first purchased it in August 2022, but nothing since then. FYI: I have a iPhone 12 using iOS 16.1 PS Your email address didn’t work, and live chat isn’t live and a very unhelpful way to report problems

Sufficient. This device has the potential for a lot and I’m glad I made this purchase. Provides consistent control from home to my car.

Love Roav Viva and annoyance not fixed!. Thought you fixed the annoying Welcome Message setting being reset if app atarred by sensing close enough using Bluetooth. This problem still exists and another problem I reporred MONTHS ago with Chat dimming during entering text which makes it usable. I am extremely dissappointed that you have not address these issue. You must be focusing on just core stuff and not app bugs. Love Roav Viva or not ai am about to uninstall app again and send the device back to you!!! Also shame on your customee support only being PST!!! Useless to east coast EST!

Needs HFP Calls (Interrupt Stereo). This needs to support HFP calls. This is the thing that would allow automatic interruption of AM/FM/Satellite so you can interact with Alexa upon saying the wale word with the current audio source being something other than Bluetooth/aux.

Great when it Works. iPhoneX user using fm radio connection method. Works great most of the time but I have to periodically uninstall and reinstall app when it stops auto connect. Sometimes it dies to roav or Alexa update issue but others it’s just totally random.

Excellent Concept!. This is an awesome concept and it is great to have Alexa in the car. This app is not compatible with iOS 11.2.5. You must update the firmware on the device before you upgrade your phone to iOS 11.2.5!!

Amazon logout issue not fixed. This is a great gadget to have in your car and makes your car your personal assistant, but I'll give it 5 stars when they fix logout issues because it's not fixed even if they say it is.

NO APPLE MUSIC. how in 2020 do I need 6 different music services to play on my devices effectively!! And the Apple Music skill is there just not supported for some reason? What the hell!!

Seems to be abandoned. Used to work fairly well, then started dropping Bluetooth connection after most major iOS updates. After a while, it developed a habit of unlinking the Amazon account, requiring multiple re-enrolments, manual removal from Alexa devices list, etc. Developer hasn’t posted any updates for the app in over a year now. I put up with it as long as I could, now using the hardware in my car as basic phone charger only. Pity, it was such a great concept.

Last update completely broke the app. Connectivity was unreliable before the last update but, since then, the app crashes as soon as the Roav VIVA connects via Bluetooth. It’s now completely broken.

Awesome to have Alexa in your car! Works perfectly!. So great to just ask my car for music, turn my house lights on or off, preheat my hot tub, open or close my garage door. Works great! And I hear Spotify will be added soon! Thanks ROAV!!!

No Alexa on Reconnecting. Latest update doesn’t fix anything. Bluetooth reconnects, but app doesn’t. All works on first setup, sometimes. Alexa functionality after disconnecting and trying to reconnect doesn’t work. Get pulsing blue light, followed by orange, then nothing.

Junk. Piece of junk. Don’t buy it. All it really serves as is a charger. Other than that don’t bother. You won’t be able to get it to connect to your phone

Bad News. Unable to setup up device after many attempts. Will not pair, therefore, cannot begin process. Today is Saturday so must wait to Monday for tech support. Disappointed.

Updated firmware - now broken. Worked great for a few minutes until I updated the firmware. Now, it rarely responds. Returning it.

Won't work with Ford Sync. Works okay with aux and USB but doesn't work over Bluetooth via Ford Sync. Makes it kind of worthless because Bluetooth/Ford Sync is how I always connect my phone.

What Happened????. After the iPhone update to iOS 13.3, my Viva connects via Bluetooth but will not synch / connect with the app. It used to work great. Now only iTunes plays and takes over the car’s audio system. I’ve searched for a fix; so far - no joy.

Totally Unusable. The app crashes as soon as you connect the charger. Alexa functions do not work without the app running.

Alexa implementation still hit and miss. Some Alexa skills work, some do not. Most frustratingly, the upgrade to 3.1.7 firmware broke my ability to get my Flash Briefing (which is nice to have in the car). Still not ready for prime time, in my view.

Does not work!. With the update to iOS 11.2.5 the Roav Viva will not pair/connect. This is a known bug in the software making this device useless.

What happened with FM output ?. I was really happy with this app. Until someone deleted the fm output feature.

Apps are fighting for sound (Maps/Waze). Once you have Maps / Waze and music playing, the sound is hijacked by that application ... and Alexa will no longer be able to speak to you anymore. Fix fix fix

Not compatible. VIVA does not connect on iPhone X running iOS 11.2.5

Is This App Still Supported by Developer ?. Will there be any new updates for this app ? I occasionally use the ROAV VIVA Charger in my car. Is there newer hardware & software ?

Annoying product. constantly sending voice messages, "Welcome back: Activate Roav Viva for music or map directions." Messages would come all hours of the day or night. I finally uninstalled it so I could get some sleep at night.

No Apple Music. Great fm transmitter but the lack of Apple Music is a bad thing for something this expensive

Not ready for prime time. My iPhone is connected via Bluetooth to Roav and car, but Roav refuses to work without a cable connection. I must use a cable to connect. Also after receiving a call Roav disconnects and I have to unplug and replug the cable while driving- unsafe!

Non-functional app. Cannot finish setup process on iOS 13 / iPhone 11. Avoid.

Great customer service. There was an issue with the latest iOS messing with the connection. Customer service was quick to reply and give me a solution. So thank you for that. On another note, Hard to say if this is a review about the Roav VIVA itself, or the app, but this product is a lot more limited than I had hoped. It probably has a lot to do with restrictions of iPhone iOS. I had hoped for it to create a more hands free experience, unfortunately it has not. To execute most actions related to navigating to an address or calling somebody, it requires you to pick up the phone and open an app. It’s like it can set up an action for you and then it needs you to send or approve of the action. 🤔 its a bummer. I hope this can be worked around in the future.

Have to reinstall app every 4 days. Never fails, every 4 days the app quits working correctly and you have to delete it then reinstall

Will not connect!!!! Please update the app!!!. I was really excited to get this device, but upon installing the app it would not connect. After a couple hours I tried to use my iPad that had not been updated to the latest iOS, it worked! Something is messed up with the app and the new update please fix ASAP, if not product is useless and will return. If you fix the app soon I will review the device/app again. Thx for your time.

Still needs Bluetooth fixes with iOS 13.1.2. Version 3.0.9 of the App is still not re-connecting the device to Bluetooth correctly. Must manually connect in Bluetooth settings, then open Roav app and manually re-connect there also. I am on iOS 13.1.2 on an iPhone 6S.

Just ok. I think the biggest issue I have with the device is that it doesn’t support HFP prompts. What this means is that you have to have you car tuned to your Bluetooth input to hear Alexa. This is fine if you’re using it primarily for streaming music, but if you’re using your car’s AM/FM/Sat for music, Alexa will be silent. I’m hoping this can be fixed in later releases.

iOS 11.2.5 broke...but new 3.1.7 firmware update fixes it.. The Apple iOS update to 11.2.5 broke the devices ability to connect via bluetooth. BUT Anker already has a firmware fix (3.1.7). Here is the catch-22...you can’t connect to the device to update that firmware if you are on iOS 11.2.5. So...if you have another device (iPad?) that has not yet updated iOS, connect and pair with that, then use the app to update the Roav Viva firmware to version 3.1.7 and it will finally work again back on your phone with iOS 11.2.5.
