Really Good But Broken in BeatMaker 3 :(. This is a great idea and execution for a one of a kind AUv3 synth app. Unfortunately the last update broke it in BeatMaker 3, rendering my $40 investment not very useful for now. Constantly the GUI does not show, constantly crashes, and does not always produce sound. Also, you should be able to reorder effects in the rack but you cannot. I will update my rating when BeatMaker 3 issues are fixed.

Huh.... I laid down the $$$ for the full version. The preset sounds are fantastic but the app crashes like crazy. Particularly, every single time I tap the fx icon or the volume/pan icon next to it. I'm on a 9.7 iPad Pro running iOS 9.3. All other apps are closed and memory cache cleared. I've already deleted the app and reinstalled it twice and I still get the same results. This iPad will normally run tons of other music apps without any issues so I'm feeling a bit confused and let down at the moment. Definitely the most $$$ I've ever spent on an app but I'd sure like to be able to use it properly...

Some issues so far.... It’s freezing quite often. Keys stick and won’t release, then it won’t make any sound at all and I have to close it down and restart the app. If it worked flawlessly it would be awesome. It’s great when it’s working, but this happens often enough it makes it unreliable to record with. Please fix this. It’s not fun when you’re in a groove and it just stops working. I’d rate it a 5 if it ran without any issues. Also it won’t allow me to register my copy of deluxe. I can sign in with a browser fine, but when signing in through the app it refuses to recognize my account. There seems to be no way of registering iOS apps through a browser though. Any fix for this yet?

Misleading. The string box sounds all sound like 80’s synth, and are not realistic at all. I’ll be requesting a refund.

MIDI promiscuous, in 2017?! (Now remedied!). **EDIT** New version adds selectable MIDI channel, consider my complaining about MIDI channel no longer applicable! Seriously, this thing responds on all connected MIDI devices to all MIDI channels on all layers. A 4 layer synth app, without even the option to restrict MIDI to a single master channel is just baffling. That being said, IK is on to something here, the result of the sample + subtractive synth controls is actually fabulous, the sounds are inspiring and rich, and almost as importantly, very tweakable. It would be my main synth app if I could somehow control what it responds to. Acceptable would be a single master channel and device selection option. Optimal would be selectable MIDI channel per layer. Another quibble is that while the MIDI CC mapping is well implemented, MIDI controlled mutes are abrupt and snap audibly. Also, the sliders are impossible to adjust to a value accurately; you pretty much can't adjust a layer an octave down or up, getting any value to .00 is an exercise in frustration as it jumps all over the place. If IK can remedy these issues, it's without a doubt a 5 star app; it tonally stands in the top group of iOS synths.

Amazingly Deep! Buy this now!. This is the definitive synthesizer collection application. Fills so many gaps in the iOS synth store. The Yamaha CS80 recreation (called V-80) and ARP 2600 (called Harpy 260) for me especially are simply not available anywhere else on the iPad despite being industry classics. Together with the ability to stack up to 4 synths as well as 5 classic audio effects takes this app to the top of what is available or even possible on the iPad. Make the investment in the full thing, and you won’t really need another dedicated synth app, ever. I hope IK continues to expand this app because I’m in love! Other thoughts: The arpeggiator is not ideal, but a unique implementation. The YouTube video manual is amazing! Regarding control depth, these sample-based synths offer typically 70 percent of the amount of modulation and options offered on the original hardware. This is good and bad. For the usual and even advanced users, this makes for a streamlined and very friendly experience. For expert users reduced functionality may be an issue, but even as an aficionado in these matters I have been incredibly satisfied. The real loss is of course related to old-school patch-cable modular stuff which this app doesn’t offer at all, but which is probably best because it would slow things down considerably. Missing: Audio Unit support, but that might conflict with the sampletank ecosystem. The Future: Synths that would be fun to have here: Yamaha DX7 Roland Juno 106 Roland SH 101 Crazier stuff: EMS VCS3 Buchla! Any sort of Dedicated Rhythm machine! Also how about a dedicated Sequencer emulation? I suggest an ARP sequencer. On that note more ARP stuff would be awesome in general. More classic emulations of effects, I’m thinking of the Roland RE-201 Space Echo specially, but I’m sure there are loads of possibilities here especially considering IK’s Amplitube experience and library. Less app switching is better generally speaking. Oh my gosh thank you if you read this whole thing I usually don’t write reviews I’m just very passionate about synthesizers I’m studying computer science at university now. I hope this helped, have an awesome day!

App freezes seconds after starting. The app use to work beautifully, now it freezes seconds after starting. It has become unusable. I have tried it both on my iPad Pro and my iPhone XS and it does not work. Please please please fix it.

Keyboard UI issues (4/2019) but amazing sounds. Quality and variety is fantastic. But keys are unusable unless you play the very upper part of each key or hold a note while playing others. Hope this is fixed soon. Seems odd that keyboard isn’t a basic component for iOS apps that can be added without custom development, right? Keep the hits coming!

Fixed on update, now awesome.. Fixed the stuck notes issue with the new update, now it’s a fabulous sounding synth(s). Lush pads and analog goodness.

Connection tutorial video needed. Why not to show how to make the connection with something like Yamaha DGX 650 like how to make the connections and to enjoy 😊 I have all these great app but none off then actually shows how to make the connection to the piano or what will be needed depending on the type of keyboard or piano like Yamaha DGX 650 which I have

User interface needs a lot of work.. Simply loading a synth is confusing. Instead of just being able to pick a synth and load it, you first have to pick one of the banks, select a synth and select a preset. Then you have to tap the tiny pic of the synth to get to the controls. It’s not exactly conducive to just starting from scratch. And you have to register an account just to access the help file, which is sketchy. I already paid for the app, and this is completely unnecessary and frustrating if you just want to learn to use the thing. To get the keyboard up on an iPhone screen, you have to access a menu and tap the option for Extended, instead of simply swiping from the bottom like a lot of other apps do (or just have the keyboard always up and have the control panel for the synth scrollable). There are some other things that need to be addressed, but these are some of the major ones. I already wish that I hadn’t spent the $15.

Smoking fat stacks of intuitive wonderfully chosen synths to be had here. I am very impressed with how IK multi media just came out swinging this year! First with the Sound machines collaboration on the magnificent” Uno” synth. And now this gorgeous monster app. I wrote a huge patch with it immediately that put a huge smile on my old synth geek mug.forget the computer ! iOS! 😃😃😃😃👽👽👽👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🐕🐕❤️❤️👽👽👏🏻👏🏻🎶🎶🔦🔦🙏🙏🛸🛸✌🏻✌🏻🕺🕺CHRISTO

Sounds not changing. I bought the oberheim pack and the presets aren’t changing when I select different ones

Beautiful!. I love this suite of legendary and vintage synths. Very inspiring and very usable. Presets sound so good. Great interface. Perfect tweakability of synths. Essential yet deep. And the effects are fantastic. Ability to layer synths and is a nice touch. And it is universal an interface that works on an iPhone. The IAPs are worth it. Only synth app I need for recording and live performance.

It’s a good start. Waiting for Audio Unit support before I invest more. I use an iPad Pro with BeatMaker 3 and AUv3 is the only iOS instrument standard I am taking serious.

Need to do an update with better features. Need oscillators Need a 4 channel mixer Need a 4 channel audio mixer When you select form A to B or C need to make a separate selection for each synth example you select B and you still hear A

Won't finish uncompressing. I'd love to leave a good comment, but the app won't finish the setup files. It starts to extract them and shows some pictures while it's doing that, but after 10 seconds it freezes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app 4 times...same thing each time :( and I'd really like this to work too. Edit: Finally got it to install! It seems like most of the controllers are disabled until you buy it. It's pretty expensive, but I'm sure it's well worth it if everything works correctly when you but it. The synth Bully blew my mind! Even with its limited features. With what I 'could' do with this one, it convinced me to want to buy it. The other synths sounded exactly the same as each other and couldn't get a feel for how each synth is supposed to sound. Being a demo version, maybe let people have at least one original sound per synth to give a better idea of what they could have/be working with, if they paid for it. Otherwise, this is going to be a killer synth (with a tad more work). Really looking forward to hearing the complete version!

Sounds Fantastic! But such a mess↸⇀↱⇒⇓↨. Undeniably rich layers of analog sounds make this an excellent sounding app, however the UI seems to compound some organizational issues that are present. Maybe there are just too many parameters within each section . Maybe there are too many sections - several synth voices multiplied by synth type and synth parameters, an extensive effects rack of up to 5 effects, arpeggios ... each section feels locked away from the others and if you do manage to get multiple synth tracks playing simultaneously there’s no visual cue as to which one you are editing ... maybe it deserves more time and another star, but it just doesn’t add up to other stuff that’s available.

Ha potential, but some fatal flaws ruined it. Syntronik is a great app, that gives you many classic synths... but has two flaws that have pressured me to give this two stars instead of three. First off- you pay nine bucks for the app, and only get two to four sounds for each synth, then you must pay $70 for all the full synth sounds. This is just a cartoonishly stupid price for an in app purchase, i mean, that’s why this app isn’t getting nearly enough downloads and attention! Another reason is... I’ll put it bluntly; the keyboard is the most inconvenient ever! It spazzes out sometimes when you play at certain tempos, and with the new update, you have to press extremely hard on some of the keys; if at all! Maybe it’s because I’m using an iPhone instead of an Ipad, but this is still unacceptable keyboard quality! This app would be a beyond great resource if these flaws were fixed.

Could be better.. What I don’t like is that some of the sounds have the filter and amplitude envelopes sampled so that you really can’t tweak them. What looks like a bunch of different synths is really just a similar set of filters and modulators with themed skins that styled after different synths but not very different functionally. The layering abilities and effects section are nice though.

Au in gb will not merge to audio. Great sounds, but I need the merge function to tranfer songs from gb to logic for further tweaking.

Just a Thought. Syntronik is awsome. Love that we can layer! What happened to Syntronik 2 for iOS?? Come on, I’d purchase.

Promising app but needs work!. ***WILL UPDATE AS APP IS REVISED*** I was pretty skeptical of the concept but had to give this a chance because CS Box is such a great app. That said, this was a pleasant surprise in terms of sound quality! Then you are confronted with the fact that at $9.99 you only get two sounds per synth? The interface, leaves something to be desired and feels cluttered. CS Box has such a direct and intuitive interface. In particular, I wish the synth browsing section was cleaner. Wish List: • Get rid of In App Purchasing!* • MIDI implementation needs work • Please add MPE (Midi Polyphonic Expression) • Clean up interface • Allow for user samples to replace stock sounds! • Even better, create modules CS Box Style, so you could mix and match components from different synths (ie. Sounds from Wavestation, Filter from Oberheim, Chorus from Jupiter, etc) * I wish IK and developers would do away with in app purchases, unless the paradigm is free to demo and then you buy all the content as a whole. The price is exorbitant as is but will keep an eye out for this to go on sale!

You sure the Deluxe upgrade is... $100!?!?!?. I saw that the Deluxe upgrade was $19.99 in the in-app purchase list on the App Store, but $99 for it in the app! Is it even on sale? Please let me know what the true price is, I want to unlock the full content hopefully soon! Otherwise, it’s a cool collection of amazing synths, and rare collectibles you just wouldn’t find enough money for to get the real thing, plus neat effects and Audio Units too!

A giant Rompler with some MixBox effects.. If you purchase full package this eats up 6.2GB of storage. While the effects are nice. The app is kinda clunky. Changing presets take forever as they have to load giant sample files for each preset. Needs trimming down. Sounds very nice but not spectacular. Sound tends to be a bit on the distorted side (not in a good way). I have noticed that with Most IKM apps on ISO. I have SampleTron and it also has a similar distortion with no effects. Hopefully they will make one that models the synths instead of a ROM Player with IR effects.

Nice app, but a little misleading. First off, this is a very nice, two-oscillator virtual analog synth with great sounding filters, an amazingly good arpegiator/phrase sequencer, and some really nice effects that plays really well with pretty much any USB MIDI controller. But it’s not an emulator of the synths implied. All of the “synths” are simply skins applied to the synth engine so they look something like something else. The biggest giveaway is “99”, which is implied as an emulation of the Yamaha SY99. The SY99 is a six-operator FM synth coupled to an AWM digital synth. Yet, the controls are for the same, 2-oscillator synth as everything else. Frankly, coming from IK Multimedia, I expected better. The free version includes “emulations” of some dual oscillator synths, so it’s not exactly a great guide to what you’re getting in the paid version. SampleTank, iGrand, and iElectric are fantastic products. But this is a ten-dollar-disappointment.

Crashes. I have an iPad Pro, 10.5 inch.. and while I’d love to review this app, it simply will not open. Which is a shame, since I bought an iRig IO 49 to use with my iPad, along with this app.

Very, very nice.... I'll start off by saying that if you're a sound designer who likes to dig in depth into classic synths then you might want to look into other versions of those classics listed here. This isn't really a modeling app. There are no oscillators, just samples that can be tuned. But, if you're looking for the amazing sounds that those classic synthesizers put out with plenty, albeit limited, tweakability then you'll really enjoy these synths. They have done a great job of capturing their sounds at IK Multimedia. The tweaking options include filters, an LFO section and a couple of envelopes, one for the filter and one for the amplitude. Enough to have plenty of fun. I like to dig into synthesizers once in a while but this gives me plenty of classic sounds with enough customization that I can use them in my own music, to express what I want to express. The midi options are there as far as I need them. It appears to be fairly robust in those options. In the interest of full disclosure, I won the full upgrade in a drawing that was held by a loop review website that wasn't related to IK Multimedia. I don't feel my review has any bias as a result but it's fair for you to know.

Need refund.. Please cancel order song not exporting I’m not interested in this app anymore.

Could be better. Says 50% off but the in app prices don’t change

Link and midi clock support would be nice. having its own virtual midi port, midi clock support and ableton link support would get it that extra star.

Sounds great but pricey. The $10 version only gives you a small sample of the patches. It costs $100 to get the full set of sounds or you can buy the synths individually for $10 a piece.

No iPhone X Support?. I have the full paid version of this app, but whenever I try using it as an AU within GarageBand on the iPhone X, the scaling of the plugin is messed up and I can’t see the bottom section of any of the synthesizers. An update is needed!

Subpar and outdated. Subpar synth sounds, nothing that stands out. Too expensive for the app and the price to add additional synths. No AUV3, basic midi, and very basic editing. Desperately need updating.

Blown away!. So far this app is incredible. So much packed into the free version. Id like to buy the full version, one question. Is there a tutorial on changing patches via MIDI? Specifically i use OnSong, can i use that to change patches when i switch my song lyrics? My guess is yes because you support MIDI right? if there is a tutorial you can point me to that would be awesome. Killer sounds. I cant believe the sounds from my iPad! Thanks guys

20 for a 9.99 purchase. Based on a demo add video I wanted to purchase noir. It showed the purchase available for 9.99 but would not let me purchase. It also showed the synth in the included in the 9.99 bundle. I purchased that and The synth is available with none of the presets. That noir button is now letting me pay another 9.99 for purchase. Those pay walls are deceptive at worst, poorly set up at best. 20$ isn’t expensive for a vey than, but this is an iOS toy and the purchase was convoluted and left me feeling ripped off.

Not bad and a trip through music history.. Enjoyed purchasing instruments I spent thousands of dollars on during my 40 year Music career. No, not nearly as good as the real keyboard, but I like the ease to splitting, stacking, effect and mixer controls I was able to understand almost immediately. I had a lot of Jam points and I used everyone. Nice that Ikmultimedia offers them. Easy access to registration and even more rewards for doing so. They are a little bit over advertising on every product they offer, but since Syntronik works with SampleTank 3, useful to have that opportunity. This is a 100 percent romper preset playing software. I have been able to do a lot of custom work with the A B C and D Instruments to stack or layer together. I would just use two words, fun and reasonable!🎶🎶🎧

This is going to be good!!. Just bought this a little while ago but so far it's great! The quality of the sounds and the interface is going to make thisa joy to program. One thing.. to save those of us with little or not programming time I wish you'd do a famous sounds bank for us. A bank that would include those sounds like Jump, Tom Sawyer's synt, some of the Who's signature synths sounds etc... This is going to be great!

Not an Emulator. I was expecting at least the character of the synths to change from device to device but it’s really the same synth engine wrapped in different skins. It’s blatantly misleading. The proof is in the FM synths. They’re the same two oscillators as in the analogue ones. So again, the same synth each time, just wrapped in a different skin.

Sounds great, needs midi channel selection. Will be great when midi channel selection is competitive with contemporary synths. Omni midi connection is big error.

Update!!!!!!!!!!!. 2 years and no update for improvements

Wow!. Great app. Fantastic sounds that you can tweak in variety of ways! Lots of fun too! I will buy probably a full version soon.

Professional Grade.... ...music production is possible. You have to approach this instrument like a professional to get professional results. You also have to be creative to see the endless possibilities for solid and useful music production with this app. Good sounds and decent sound design capabilities. It’s is worth the money for pros and deeply dedicated hobbyists. There are plenty of nice synths to obtain in the App Store to if you don’t want to spend the money here. This app is worth its price to those that know how to use it. Budget buyers have a lot of other options. So you don’t have to diss this app for being out of your price range. Those reviews and ratings are unfair and unnecessary because people already know the price. The good reviews tell ikmultimedia how to improve the UI and playability and fix bugs. Long story short: For full price there are nice synths...even better with processing through your choice of fx. Some sound design is here with many presets to get you started. Your musicality and creativity will determine what you get but this is a legit resource for making great and professional sounding music. Integrate it with other gear to get your own unique sound design.

Pretty F**king disappointed. I’ve seen some rips before but nothing like this for $23, let’s just say it’s very light on the presets and to get the ‘ more ‘ version is a small fortune it makes me wonder what the free version gets. Also in spite of the hype it’s not very good unless you want to tweak, and tweak you shall but there isn’t much to tweak because it’s sample based so… buy the more version or get sweet F/A for your money, I’ll be sticking to the sweet F/A version because IK multimedia is not ever getting another cent of mine, I figure I could make it do some weird acid loops if nothing else, it functions.. that’s about it and most other apps can do it better for less. Sorry IK, you screwed me over, you made me believe there was a full package here and there isn’t, that makes you dishonest liars and you should include everything to compensate everyone who paid for this app. Liars.

Juno 60. I purchased the in app Juno 60 keyboard for $10.99 and was disappointed to find it’s a different layout from the original Juno 60 and missing several features of the Juno 60, such as chorus. I suggest carefully looking into any extra in app purchases on the IK Media website before spending your cash

One sound…. All I Got. You browse instruments. Pick the one you want and load it, then select the sound (usually only one or two choices). Then play. You get one crappy sound. Switch instrument and preset and you get the same sound, even with only 1 instrument loaded at a time. Don’t buy this even if it’s free

Sneaky advertisement. Watch out before you buy. You will NOT get 22 instruments and 450 presets when you buy this app. You only get 17 instruments and a few presets. If you want the full collection, you will have to pay an extra $120 The description and the info on the App Store is written so you miss this. Sure it does say so but it also makes you think it doesn’t. I’m sure this was done intentionally for an upsell. They won’t get my money by being sneaky. So disappointed by this company with an app that I wanted to love.

Top Job Release. We have has so many awesome synths released so far this year. This beast will be a contender for the top release of 2017. Syntronik’s vast Fx library is utterly amazing. The selection of synths on offer is enormous and satisfyingly good. Grab it while the promo price is still on. Can’t imagine anyone who loves synths not loving this app. Top job and well done IK MM.

Incredible App. This is a winner. It amazes me how so many people care only about price. They write reviews focused only on cost, not quality. If its free, its automatic 5 stars. If it costs more than 99 cents or has in app purchases, it gets a maximum of 3 stars. Why do those people buy music making apps? It seems that they only want to be able to boast about how many apps they have that are really cheap, not how good they sound. This app sounds great because a lot went into development. I will not buy apps based on price. I only want apps that sound great, not apps that are cheap. Who goes to concerts featuring cheap instruments and musicians that play for free. They go to hear good music that sounds fantastic.

This Is It!. If I could only have one synth app, this would be the one! Being able to edit and save presets is a bonus because it already has plenty of sonic possibilities included.
