Smart Home Manager Comments & Reviews 2026

Live chat. While there is no single official count of users reporting that the AT&T Smart Home Manager live chat does not work, numerous user reports throughout 2025 highlight significant recurring issues with the service. Specific complaints from users on platforms like Reddit include: Circular Logic & Unhelpful Scripts: Users describe the chat as "circular nonsense" where automated virtual assistants provide repetitive, unhelpful advice. Abrupt Disconnections: Some customers reported that chat agents disconnected the session immediately after asking them to perform a troubleshooting step, such as rebooting a gateway. Failed Troubleshooting Loops: The virtual assistant frequently asks users to perform actions (like unplugging devices) that result in the app restarting or failing to reconnect, leaving the original problem unresolved. Known System Issues: In multiple instances, support agents admitted to users that the system was experiencing "technical issues" or "known issues" that prevented the app or its management features from functioning correctly. Broadly, industry data indicates that 83% of consumers have quit a live chat session due to frustration with the experience, and 56% cannot recall ever having a positive live chat interaction. For Smart Home Manager specifically, many users have labeled the app and its support features as "worthless" or "garbage" due to these persistent communication failures.

Stopped the fighting and unglued my family!. My daughter and husband were developing a bad habit of being glued to their screens more and more lately. It wasn't healthy and it wasn't good for our family. I saw their physical, and mental health start to suffer, as well as their loss of interest in hobbies, activities, anything but those screens! Once I started pausing the internet to get their attention, there was some initial push back, but when they realized how much they were overreacting to merely being asked to put down their phone/tablet to simply have dinner as a family, they saw how bad they had gotten. We agreed to some limits and we're back to getting our own stuff done and enjoying family time as well. It's been very helpful. It's also shown us that we aren't getting any unauthorized use either, which my husband has been worried about since getting some "smart home" items. It is nice to be able to check on that.

Speed tests on iPhones. For the most part I’m always alerted that I’m not connected to an at&t WiFi internet router and therefore cannot perform a speed test. I usually just ignore this and perform one anyway because I only have at&t internet air. It gives me the speed for the router but never performs the test for my device from the internet air router. Up until today this annoying message telling me to connect to my AT&T WiFi wasn’t a big deal. I ordered a new at&t WiFi booster and after waiting the 10 minutes to get it “activated “ I couldn’t finish the install because the home manager app doesn’t recognize that I’m connected to at&t WiFi to finish the scan for the best signal for the booster! Even after numerous restarts of the gateway/wifi booster and even my iPhone the app still doesn’t recognize that I’m on the AT&T WiFi service. Just for info it did work briefly until I decided to “update” to this latest version.

App not very reliable. I think if you just have the Gateway/Router, this app is good enough. You start running into problems when you start using extenders, that’s when this app is not reliable and useful. Also, I wish it could provide better tools to test and manage the network and the internet service. A lot of times I’m left wondering what the unknown device is cause it hardly provides any info on the device. Also, you can’t manage the Extenders, they do weird things like connecting to devices that are far away from the extender or gateway. For example a device would connect to an extender that’s located across the house with hardly a WiFi signal while there’s an extender 2-3 feet away from the device. You can’t kick the device from an extender so that it can try to connect to a different extender. I usually have to restart the entire network so that the devices can connect to the closes extenders. Unfortunately AT&T does not let you use your own Router/Mesh Network. You’re stuck using and paying monthly for the terrible extenders.

This app is garbage. Doesn’t let me see anything useful. Did they really have a sixth grader come up with the content ideas? Anything that’s “helpful” is a short summary of simple common sense with no way to go further than a few four sentences with a clip art picture. Yay! I just previously switched from Xfinity to AT&T and although installers worked with Xfinity why would you AT&T EVEN OFFER SELF INSTALL if it would never work by actually self installing…. Complete waste of time and no way to actually obtain the instructions they claim is supposed to appear with this app. WHERE? WHERE! WHERE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS? NOWHERE. This app is garbage and so is AT&T. Xfinity’s app was at least actually usable and showed preview data. The AI Virtual Assistant can’t get past answering the most common sense of questions with the least useful content (just refers back to AT&T’s website) what is the point of even having it in the app. Complete garbage bag of an app. Can’t believe the salaries that were made on this piece of trash

Suggestion. This is more of a suggestion, rather than a review; However, the review comes along with it. I just switched from Xfinity 1G to AT&T fiber 1000. I didn’t have any problems with Xfinity, but the internet installer at my new apartment suggested the switch because AT&T was a much faster internet option. It is, for the most part. My biggest issue is the lack of control I have over my devices and the fact that I have to pay extra for Active Armor. Xfinity had very similar security included with the plan, minus the website control options. The best part about Xfinity was the control I had over my network through the app. The ability to limit internet use (pause) on devices until I chose to unpause -not limited to 24 hours-, removing unwanted devices from my network while they were connected, creating profiles and choosing what devices are paused individually instead of pausing the entire profile, and the amount of information that is collected when a new device is added to the network is almost immeasurable. I have 3 devices currently on my network that just say “unknown device” no other type of information. It is extremely frustrating how limited everything is on this app, and I am not sure a slightly faster internet speed is worth a $10 difference in price. My suggestion would be to look at Xfinity’s platform and incorporate similar features to allow for a more user focused interface and service.

App stopped working. I've had the app for the last few years and is set to auto update on my iPhone sx max. I depend on my internet in large amounts since I'm an inbound call agent . Needless to say my app stopped working and shows a blue screen when I press to use as usual. I checked to verify an update. But there was not. I've updated my device so that was ruled out I also restarted my device, still no success. I even uninstalled and reinstalled it. It's very frustrating . Second thing was when it was working it would also disconnected my wifi extender almost around the same time daily. After similar rain dance for the app it still does this . But can't do anything until the app starts working to solve either problem. It would be appreciated to find some resolution and learn why the app seemingly stopped functioning. On a side note I am quite disappointed that this company really had not performed as reliable as it presents itself. And instead of acknowledging this they give us an app to say we can trouble shoot ourselves instead of call them. So basically service isn't reliable so here's an app to help with petty issues that may consume too much call volume . When people depend on a provider we expect it to be available without so much interference or loop holes. May as well have a hampster running on a wheel inside out routers. At least that's what I imagine.

Repeat outages. I recently had AT&T fiber installed at my house and not only did the people who buried the line damage our driveway and property, they left part of the line exposed and it was damaged within weeks. I asked them to come back out and to correctly mark the line and rebury it deeper but they did not do any of it. The internet is now out for a second time and not once has this app been helpful in resolving the issue. It takes days to be able to get a ticket put in the system for any kind of equipment failure, they’ll just send you in an automated loop system that continuously asks you to restart the modem and ensure it’s plugged in. It seems like AT&T’s ability to maintain service and address customer needs is lackluster at best, and this app - that will now no longer even allow me to open it without downloading an update that it refuses to download - is just another automated farce that provides no benefit to the customer. I work from home and this “service” has provided more stress than productivity. I will be switching to charter as soon as possible.

Saved my devices and identity from theft. There were devices that popped up on my WiFi band that I do not have. I was able to block them and get faster network. In the past I had gotten hacked through my home WiFi and it destroyed the WiFi box and my iPhone. I had no idea there were computers and gamers in there until there was no WiFi signal at all. I have teenage sons who love video games. I feel they are safer now that I can set times they have access to the WiFi and when they don’t, keeping them from being targets for hackers. Smart Home Manager really comes in handy on school nights. Now my children get sleep, do their chores to earn internet time because they can’t sneak on the WiFi late at night. I give 5 stars because if I didn’t have this app on my devices those devices I blocked would probably have cost me another phone and very possibly my identity by now. Not to mention the rest of my households devices.

I shouldn’t need to download an app to set up my internet. They set up our internet over 2 years ago to the wrong apartment but we still had internet some how in assuming the whole place is just wired terribly and they are the only isp I can possibly get (dualopoly op) and now since someone is trying to move into that apartment they shut our internet down and the one going to our apartment with still no help after several service calls and no call backs from waiting in que genuinely terrible company that doesn’t care about customers but at the end of the day this is nothing new there has probably been thousands before me with this exact same complaint but what can we do nothing but at and t should compensate for the trouble they won’t they had a man come out to “fix” it but he literally just came to my house and dropped off a box and left Terrible company maybe if the employees got paid more they would be willing to actually do there job but that’s a whole nother issue hot take but I feel like business that out source for labor are the true people that need to be “canceled” in today’s cancel culture

Great app, just needs more improvements!. The app overall it’s great. It has not kick me out or anything. It’s been reliable. Just needs add ons. I would like to see more device types. In the era of connected homes, there is more devices than listed. Example: thermostats, security cameras, garage openers, smart displays. There is a camera device type but it shows a old school camera picture, not accurate picture for security cameras. Also, the profiles need work. It needs the option for a profile that’s been made a person to be able add different times on specific days. Example: have a time set Monday-Friday and weekends a different time. It just gives u the option that pick a time and what days. Not very functional on this part. For now, it’s ok and it works but needs a little more polished in those departments so make the app and internet experience little more controllable. 4 stars right now, but it can change as updates keep coming. Thank you !

Love the app but it’s stopped connecting. This would be a 5 star review if I could still connect. I had the app since it launched and used it daily / love all its features but it stopped connecting suddenly in November. Now I must restart my modem every time for it to reconnect and when it does, it only works for about 24 hours. I have an iPhone 15 pro max on the latest software with the app up to date. I’ve called tech support multiple times and they can’t help. I even just requested a new modem which att sent and still the same issue occurs after a day or so. The error I receive in the app is. “Looks like we’re having trouble”. Please help att. We pay a lot of money for your services and just want to be able to manage our home network. Update: att email support replied since I was asked to email them and they have not been able to resolve the issue since February 7. They are very slow to reply and when they do they offer little advice or insight to the problem or a resolution. The last reply was they think I should call to have someone look at our ines. Thanks for the great top level support AT&T. Good to see you value your long term customers. We pay a lot of money and can’t even access the services we pay for. Update: There was a new developer response to my review recently but it doesn’t appear here and I don’t know how to view it. Att, can you please just email me directly to help? Update: I’ve already sent multiple emails to that email address and haven’t been able to get any help. It seems like based on other reviews other users are having the same problems I am. Could there be problems with the app that need to be fixed?

Very disappointing. I have had multiple opportunities to use this app. My internet has had issues for about 8 months now. Every. Single. Time. it has been an outside cable issue that requires a technician. In order to even speak (text with) an actual representative instead of the AI bot, you must go through the entire process of seeing if the bot can fix it. It can’t. So I get to a rep. I have asked each rep to please look at the previous service tickets so I don’t have to go through the whole process again with them. Apparently, they can’t access the info. So I spend at the very least 40 minutes on my phone trying to get someone to fix my internet. To fix the exact issue that I have experienced over the last 8 months. The kicker is, they send you a text within 2 weeks saying “you issue has been resolved” just so they don’t have open work orders in their system for over 2 weeks. I reached out on May 19, 2025, tech came out and said they had to order the cable because it was old, and not used often. I got a message saying the issue was resolved, but internet still didn’t work. Went through the (min. 40 minute) call to submit yet another ticket, and got a call from the tech saying ‘cable has not come in yet’. I explained that I had received a text saying it was fixed, and he told me about the practice of just ‘clearing’ tickets after 2 weeks. The Reps can’t help you actually solve anything, and that makes this app basically worthless to me.

Completely aggravating. I Initially loved this app as it gave me control over my family’s use of the internet, especially since one child streams video games and movies, essentially wasting all of our bandwidth each month. But, recently, it does nothing more than aggravate me. Despite having all of my above-mentioned daughter’s devices assigned to a single profile, with a scheduled time to turn off each day, many days, when I check, internet has not been turned off as scheduled. And, the major aggravation comes from the fact that the app keeps telling me my password is incorrect. I select “forgot password” and change my password. I am allowed to utilize the app using these new credentials. Until the next day, when I am told again that my credentials are incorrect. And because I have had to reset my password daily, I am now locked out because I used that feature too often! If all features worked correctly every time, I’d give it more than one star. If the App Store would allow me to give it less, I would have done so!

Great app, doesn’t work as well as I’d hoped. Love the app, love what I’m able to do in the app, love all of the info and even the troubleshooting chat options, but half the time the app doesn’t load properly or takes ages to load. There was a massive outage in the area, checked the outage map online that reported an outage about 3 hours before the app provided the info. I also didn’t receive any push notifications about the outage, I happened to open the app and it was updated. These are all small things but they’re also selling features that do not function properly. I realize the app is still being updated regularly and is improving all the time but we’re still without internet and the app isn’t even loading now. Overall though, there really aren’t many problems and it’s very useful. But it’s not really coming through when I’m needing it the most and that’s a bit frustrating.

Super Frustrated. I have so many devices shown as unknown that it is impossible to determine what the unknown device is. This is ridiculous! Xfinity shows the name of devices when they are named on the device. Even when the device does not have a name, Xfinity will at least tell you if it’s a phone or smart tv or a general device type. AT&T smart home only shows unknown. What’s the point if I can’t determine what the device is. That is USELESS and a total waste. If Xfinity can specify, AT&T should be able to do the same. The WiFi address, host name, MAC address shown on the app doesn’t match what is shown on the actual device. Again USELESS and a total waste! Get it together AT&T. Don’t let your claim to be better than Xfinity be dragged down by this very simple fix. Figure it out. If I can’t identify devices connected to my network why even claim to have this feature at all?

Buggy. This could be a very useful app if it weren’t so buggy. I have 2 Airties WiFi extenders from ATT. If I open the “Devices” tab, it might show the RG and my 2 Airties, or it might show one or both of my Airties grayed out, meaning not connected. Often times it shows no Airties connected and all 22 or so of my devices being connected to the RG. Right now it is showing one Airties connected and one not connected. When I click on the connected one, the app says there are 10 devices connected but in the list there are only 6 devices shown. This is absolutely no help in troubleshooting when you cannot get reliable data from the app. I also have the desktop version of this app and you would think the data between it and the mobile app would be the same but it is not. I would be willing to give 5 stars if the app worked better but there is a lot of reliability and accuracy missing. I do not recommend this app as anything more than a gimmick. The desktop version is what I use because it is more accurate.

Nice App with one annoying and incomplete feature. I like to keep my network secure and this app has a nice thing where it notifies you of when a device is scanned or connects to your network, however if you open the app through these notifications it takes you to a FAQ page where I feel it should open the device profile. This would be super useful when you get notified of a device you don’t own and want to kick it off of your network or to see if the app just mislabeled a device you own. Sometimes I’ll be notified of a Samsung tv connecting which I don’t own but when I pull up connected devices there’s only my devices on there leaving me so confused on WHAT that notification was even talking about. Lowkey makes me paranoid and question the app.

Frustrating!. It’s constantly saying, oops we’ve ran into an issue. Come back later. Another frustrating thing is you can’t report a simple issue such as a downed line. Tried many phone numbers to report our line being down. Couldn’t get through to a single department to report it. So I thought great I’ll try the app. The AI bot can’t understand a single issue correctly. Told it over and over again, line down. Just kept insisting on testing our line and that my router was bad and they’re shipping me a new one. Tried to exit out so it won’t send me a router Now I have received three notices that a new router is in its way!!! But our line is still down. Duh!! You want us to use the app for everything but If you can’t report simple things or list repair issues what good is the app? Improve the app to allow for reporting issues or publish a repair line on your website. Bet when I get my bill this month I have a charge for new equipment and I’ll be billed for a full month of service, even though we’ve not had service.

Good when it works. The app is very basic, which is fine for our use. But, it is not consistently working. Over the last 2 weeks numerous times I could not access connected devices to bring them online. Restarts don’t always work. Sometimes my spouse phone app works when mine doesn’t and vice versa. Sometimes the desktop browser works when app doesn’t. And frequently now I get “We are experiencing a temporary system error. Please try again later. (500)” Also, frequently in last 2 weeks it says they’re working on new features and some things are not available... like basic feature to edit profiles. Frustrating when we have kids devices offline and then need to bring it online for entertainment or summer school and you cannot bring it online. They need to figure this out. It is great when it works, which currently is very inconsistent.

Stuck on loading screen. I saw other reviews sorting by recent addressing the same issue for a while. How come it is still not fixed?! I was looking for my wifi password and decided to check this app - which I hadn’t opened in months and thus was required to re-download. To my surprise, unlike how smooth it used to be, the app stuck on the loading screen “you are online”, and despite having deleted & reinstalled several times, the infinite stuck continues. Among all these times, one time I was finally able to somehow access the original interface and I thought maybe restarting the modem would help. How naive of me! After the restarting, the app stuck again, this time on the “now we are restarting Smart Home Manager” screen, yet it hasn’t changed for a couple minutes. After I closed and reopened the app, it is again stuck on the “you are online” screen. Why is this happening? Could someone please fix this issue? Thank you!!! ———— Edit: somehow after my review when I reinstalled again (maybe for the 7th time today) it miraculously worked. I had no idea what caused the problem or what made it work.

Randomly Blocks Devices. Didn’t have wifi on my phone for almost 12 hours. Luckily, it’s not the only device in the house and they weren’t all blocked. There was nothing in the router to show any devices were blocked, so no way to solve the problem from there. My phone was connected but had no internet. I was able to turn on the guest network. Then I could use the app. Then I could find my phone in the previously connected devices. Then I could unblock it. There was no way to unblock my phone without the app and no way to use the app without a wifi connection (app didn’t work w/LTE). I HAVE NEVER BLOCKED ANY DEVICE USING THIS APP! It randomly blocked the only device able to use it. This app should not be replacing functionality in the router settings. My situation proves the point. Anything the app can do should be accessible directly in my router. I couldn’t even prove my phone was blocked without the app that wasn’t working. Now if only they could fix the router firmware update 3.18.5 so my laptop could find the network again…but I’m probably asking for a miracle.

App not working. UPDATE: My router is still not showing and on top of that, now I am having trouble turning on the downtime for my profiles. It’s so frustrating!! Last month I accidentally deleted the extender from my devices. I tried reconnecting it and even called tech support who said it was showing on their end and to give it some time to reappear. It’s been a month and it still doesn’t show in my app. When I login online, it shows the extender is offline but the extender itself seems to be connected (solid white light). This is still an ongoing issue. Also, last night I had 4 profiles set up on my app with scheduled downtimes. I paused the internet on my fireTV and forgot to unpause it before I fell asleep. Woke up this morning and the app is showing no profiles. It also showed that the fireTV was connected but it was not. I tried to use the virtual assistant and it was no help. Finally just reset the internet at the modem and that unblocked it but my profiles still don’t show.

Unfixable bug after merging accounts. I had 2 separate AT&T accounts (1 for cell, 1 for internet) and merged them together. BAD IDEA if you want to use this app ever again. Everything seemed fine and that even fixed some other issues I have having with my accounts. However, I went to open the smart home manager app and was not able to get in. I’m greeted with an error message that states “looks like there’s a problem with that id/password. Sign in with a different account id [205.7].” I press ok on the error message and it just loops with no option to change accounts. There are a few forums online and it doesn’t seem like they have a fix for this. Tried all the basic troubleshooting (delete/redownload the app, reboot the phone, etc) but it still gives me this error. It is like my login is stuck in the app with no way to change it. I think this may be the only app I’ve ever rated on the App Store. Hopefully someone sees this before they merge their accounts. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. AT&T - fix your app!

Cannot View/Modify device profiles. This was working great until about 6 months ago. I get on the app to change downtime for my kids’ devices because it’s Christmas break or spring break or I have a lot of family over and we want to allow the kids to play on a device past 7 PM on a Friday. The app will not load the devices to save my life. I’ve done 7 or 8 rounds of “troubleshooting” but it’s not my network, it’s the app itself. It is definitely not allowing me to manage anything. Just keeps saying “looks like we’re having issues” for 6 months…I’ve uninstalled the app, reinstalled it, signed out, went thru hours of troubleshooting my network which was never the problem. And the devices won’t load. The virtual assistant takes me to a person who says “we need to restart your network”…which brings everything down and reboots and then I give up because I have kids to deal with and things to do. Just make the app work as advertised please.

Faster internet. I just upgraded my internet and so glad I did. My internet used to be so slow and my daughters would come home from college and wouldn’t even be able to get on their phones or Mac books without getting kicked off. During Covid they couldn’t even stay at my house to do their homework because the internet would not stay on steadily for them. It was getting to be stressful for all of us. My youngest does gaming and within a few days had given up because she thought it was her laptop that was giving her fits when it was the internet service the whole time. I have the smart home App which is extremely handy to have. I can see who is on our service and when. As soon as I figure out the devices that are continually logged on the better off I will be. I am still getting used to it but having the app is a game changer for me….love my new service and the new AT & T app!!!

Buggy. Last year, when I began services with AT&T- I was VERY hesitant because I have never cared for them. The statement still stands. It’s hard to get the Internet to work at times. Even by myself, I can’t watch TV, work on my laptop, and use my phone at the same time.. total waste. App was good when I started, but now it’s not so much. Every time I go to login, there’s an error message and I have to start it all over. It sometimes doesn’t even load and I have to pull it up on another device. It has recently stopped showing some connected devices that were previously connected to it. The app also changed the names of almost all of my devices in there, and I can’t edit them any more. Something broke in the app recently, and it definitely needs a fix. When it works, it’s good- at best. The only real reason I need to use it is to constantly run a channel scan since the internet lags so much. It’s very frustrating. Be warned, if you have options of providers, just research and look elsewhere if possible.

Do not become a victim. We had AT&T TV and internet installed in our home recently. From the first day, the service was unsatisfactory. The internet speed was not as advertised. We utilized their in-app speed test while we had a customer service rep on the phone, which resulted in the range they advertised. However, when we utilized an independent speed test, the results were staggeringly lower. We tried multiple independent speed tests. All had the same results. We were not able to get any resolution with the speed issues after many phone calls, agreeing to pay more for faster speeds, and multiple attempts to have someone come back out. Eventually, phone calls and texts went unanswered. We chose to cancel the service after only 3 days service and many attempts to get resolution. AT&T is still requiring us to pay fees for a service we were never provided during those 3 days. I highly recommend you do not consider them as your service provider. Their customer service is non-existent. They will say anything to gain you as a customer and then provide NO service afterwards.

Really obnoxious bugs!. I have an iPhone 11 pro. I would share screenshots if I could. The app manager worked ok for the first three weeks of my service, however, always very SLOW to open the app and various features within. I set up a profile for my kids so I could limit their internet. Yesterday and today I get continuous error messages saying that “WiFi is not connected” (it is) or something about maintenance when I tried to access controls to turn them back on. I can sometimes open the app, sometimes not, right now, with varying/inconsistent error messages. I attempted to get the included AI “assistant” to engage in troubleshooting. It was basically a conversation with HAL 9000. Throughout this time my kids’ disconnected devices couldn’t be reconnected. I looked for an alternative way to access the controls - everything in AT&T’s help just redirects to this app. There’s no other way to set or change controls, apparently, so when it’s buggy you’re just stuck without service on whichever devices you turned off. With kids, this is a potential safety issue. And there is no way to report bugs in the app. It confuses the AI. This could be such a great app if it were reliable...but right now it just feels frustrating and at risk of leaving some devices in limbo forever with no alternative or manual workaround available.

Veteran Review. my home manager is a very productivity app. I’m able to view features of my account without having to go online and it is a resource just available directly on your cell phone and a touch of a finger. The fact that I’m able to see how many devices that’s on my phone I’m also able to remove or restrict those items on my account, especially the ones that I have no knowledge of being on my account. All items or a pass items on your account not only limits your service, but they also hinder it and what smart home management I am able to eliminate the problem without calling numerous phone number and waiting long hours online to receive service that I can do from my living room chair with that being said I think AT&T for the service and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Inaccurate number of devices connected. When I check to see the list of how many devices are connected to my network, I can tell it’s not accurate 99% of the time. It does show that at one point there may have been 13 connected but I know for a fact that there’s only 3 or 4 later on at times powered on and connected and some have even been completely powered off for literally weeks, or even months and they'll still show up as connected. I also can’t help but to think that it still does have an effect on how fast the connection is despite a vast majority of the devices not connected and completely powered off. For example, an old iPhone 5 or 10 year old Xbox 360 does not have the capability of being technically powered off, but still has the ability to be connected to WiFi (standby mode); yet the connected devices list will still show either one or both still connected for weeks or up to months on end until I turn whatever device on and then turn it back off. It seems like the only real fix on my end is to turn, whatever is not actually on and connected to my network, on and then power it back off. It’s ridiculous that that’s what I’d have to do to make me feel like it showing the number of devices connected is slowing my connection down late at night when internet traffic is at its least giving me the best of its capability. This has been going on for months now but now it’s just getting annoying if anything to be honest. Please look into a fix for this issue.

The worst internet/TV/VOIP provider!!. AT&T sent me a router in one box with a bunch of cables, about four days later I got another box with television equipment. We had to call an installer because we didn’t even know what to connect to. After the installation guy was finished, there was a rather obtrusive white wire going all the way across the house starting at the kitchen telephone port all the way through the living room into the den. How pleasant to see against my freshly painted rose walls. So the setup guy leaves. I had to pay $8.40 to have my television equipment shipped (don’t ask me why) and when that came in I had no idea what to do with it. That’s when I called and explained that the cord that was installed didn’t fit the router that we had received from AT&T’s home office (this one I did not have to pay shipping) and when the wire wasn’t the same as the router’s connection, it was the beginning of the end. I may pay more for Comcast/XFinity but at least they come and set EVERYTHING up and do not leave until the entire system is ready and I understand how everything works!!

Very Surprised… in a good way.. I guess after years and years of terrible service from other companies, I never really expect much in the way of customer service or features and benefits. Usually just a high cost hassle. However, I have to say that this app is incredible. I’m genuinely impressed and the team that designed this should be proud of their work. There are so many useful tools included, most of which in the past with other companies, I had to use multiple websites or various other methods which could be annoyingly cumbersome. This app has everything I need in one place. The layout is super easy to understand and is visually appealing. It would probably be very beneficial to customers who aren’t too tech savvy. I’m kind of a technical guy and like to tinker with things, but you don’t have to be to be able to use this app easily. The service has been great so far as well. I hope this helps you and have a wonderful day!

Worked amazing at one point.. Three stars because when it works it was awesome. When I first got the app it was great. I had all my devices named and could pause and boost the internet to certain ones. All around it was great. However, the last couple of months it has been awful. It gets stuck in the loading screen when I check my devices and then tells me to troubleshoot but it freezes when I try to talk to the bot to troubleshoot. I uninstalled and reinstalled once and it seemed to fix the issue. But trying that same method it’s still not working. I’ve also been getting spammed with “Unsecure website blocked” when nobody is even using the internet. I got 14 of them at 3 AM. Please please fix this. I really liked the app when I first got it and it has worked fine since the very first day I downloaded it. But now it’s just a pain to deal with and I can’t even do anything with it.

Would’ve liked to use it. I logged into the home manager the day the tech came to install my Uverse. He had me log in and told me he had to run to my leasing office and when he got back he would show me how to secure my Wi-Fi. When he returned he told me it’s not going to happen today. He said maintenance told me that I couldn’t connect your service today. An Integrated home solution guy arrived shortly after the tech arrived. He asked if I was interested in a new iPhone. He ended up selling me one. He walked out of my room with my phone & when he came back he said oh you can’t get into your iCloud? I told him,” I CAN!” Anyway he set up my phone to transfer to the new phone. He said he would be back in a few days for my device. After about an hour the data didn’t transfer on the new phone. I had to restart the process. My old number was sim swapped a couple of days later and I was never able to log into home manager after my service was set up. My phone’s have been hacked continuously. It’s been a nightmare.

Customer service has no understanding or assumes you don’t.. I understand that people of all technical abilities need the Internet and speak with Customer Support. I also understand being over technical with people can be very frustrating. However, if someone shows even basic knowledge of how their system works and begins to ask pretty basic security questions about device scans or network scans and scheduling them or at least having them run on a regular basis or even asking what triggers them to run in the current set up, it seems to me that Customer Support should be able to answer those questions. I needed these things for a report. I needed to have on hand for liability issues for a very small business. I run from home that does not support another connection. I simply was asking if my consumer Internet was up to snuff as to security or if I needed to find a way to be able to get a business account. Their response was don’t worry it’s just AT&T security seriously.

EASIER WAY TO MANAGE YOUR WIFI!!!😁. I thank AT&T for this app! If you don’t already have it, and, have AT&T service; don’t hesitate in downloading it. The ‘SmartHome Manager’ app is a very useful tool for managing your account, connected devices, data usage per device w/timetable graphs, troubleshooting your connections, rebooting your router, optional downtime/restricted WiFi scheduler per device and/or profile. You can manage each device individually, or, create profiles for each family member and/or devices. P.s. I wrote an honest review about this app in a survey; it must have been a popular request, as far as, app quality and abilities. The suggestion about what I thought could possibly improve the functions of ‘SmartHome Manager’ app; appeared in an update within a few days. 😊🤔 The developers listen and are seeking ways to always improve their product quality 🥰

Definitely worth downloading. As a single mother of 3 I don’t have a lot of time, money or phone storage space. I don’t like to download apps on my phone even if they are preferred for the products we have. However I downloaded Smart Home to see how my wifi is working and when I looked around at the different options and things I could do and control it turned into an app I use a few times a week. I can see how long my children are on their devices and when. I can pause wifi on any device at anytime, I find low wifi areas in my home and ordered free wifi extenders right off the app, and so much more. I don’t usually write reviews or even rate apps because of my limited time but I absolutely wanted other people to know the advantage of downloading this one. Also to show my appreciation for the detail that whoever made this put into it. I love it, thank you Smart Home!

Well it did work. The app worked great for about a year and then all of a sudden we can’t connect to the Wi-Fi gateway. I have had two DIRECTV installers and literally switched all of my devices as in gateway battery and antenna. I have been on the phone with AT&T for the equivalent of 12 hours The three times I’ve called to have this fixed not a single person with AT&T or DIRECTV which I don’t even have DIRECTV could help me get this app to running it just simply will not connect to our Wi-Fi gateway I have even looked up this issue on the community page of AT&T and it looks like AT&T has not answered a single issue I wish I could have some thing other than AT&T but where I live I have no other options.. and every time you call AT&T you cannot understand a single person on the other line don’t use the app to contact AT&T because you’ll get someone telling you we have to call AT&T because we no longer troubleshoot fixed wireless on the app. Well isn’t that a joy..

Awful app. Only thing worse than ATT home internet service is this app. Stay away from ATT at all cost. Absolute garbage. I left Cox thinking I could save a little money. The grass is not always greener! Trust me! If I had a dollar for every time my tv went black or had to buffer, I’d be a millionaire! This app is the only thing that helps me tv/internet work. I have to literally ‘pause’ everything in my house just to watch tv. Even by myself, I still have to pause devices like Alexa and my home security system. This app, when functioning properly, is a must. However, lately it’s been garbage. It’s constantly ‘under construction’. Or when I inevitably have to restart my WiFi, it’ll go through the usual motions- when it’s done, I hit ‘log out’ and it bugs out and gets stuck on an endless, unstoppable loop that reads ‘error’. I literally have to uninstall/reinstall to get back to normal. And this is not an isolated incident that happens once in a while! I’ll be getting rid of ATT home tv/internet and never coming back again! Any ATT reps reading this- don’t bother trying to help me. Done!!

Horrible App for Managing Your Network. Not sure how this app has a high rating because it’s awful, especially given that it’s from a technology related company. Editing created profiles is the most awful thing ever in an application as you get to see a long list of previously connected devices that are no longer in the network. And, overall, you cannot delete devices that are no longer in your network so you go through a list of like 75 device names when you only may have 10. Good luck choosing the right one. Why AT&T? Why did you hire the worst app developers to mess up such an important app for your services? Shame on you! You also removed the ability to view and track data usage and are redirecting me to the myAT&T app to view this information. Why would this feature be removed from an app that the main purpose is for managing my network and be moved to a marketing/advertising/billing app? You’d get zero starts from me if that was an option.

Soooo slow and annoying. I have to jump through hoops to get to my device manager- which is the most important feature on this app. I couldn’t go directly to it with the previous version and now you have to wait for it to find the connection for a speed test, connect to the home network, then find all the devices. Then there’s a feature for “profiles”- which is a good idea- however it is very limited. I am unable to pause the internet at different times, say if I want if off between 10p-10a and again from 3p-5p I am only able to set one preference. Then I am unable to make a second profile with the same device as a workaround of this flaw, and what’s worse is I am unable to manually pause a device if it is part of a profile. I have to go through the profile to edit all the devices there. So basically this feature serves no function if I have to keep manually enabling/disabling all my devices.

Down as often as my AT&T internet. The concept is great; however, the app is about as reliable as my dsl internet with at&t, so it’s not worth the weekly - yes, weekly!! - phone calls (a minimum of an hour and a half per call) to let *them* know *their* app is crap, *again*. Speaking of, for a communications company, AT&T is the absolute *worst* entity to communicate with in my universe, & that includes an ex-husband and a teenage son. An hour and a half on hold for tech support, listening to that inane recording inviting us to use our currently out of commission SmartHome app for all these issues to avoid that pesky hold time 🤦🏻‍♀️ edited: no, I will not, as my issue is not with my profiles, but with the app itself, & AT&T’s seeming inability to successfully manage/run or develop an app that works for longer than a week without locking me out of everything because your app has crashed, on a friday or saturday night *again* - Remove it from the market until your devs have proven in beta it can run uninterrupted for at least 30 days.

Updated and Well Improved. Nothing is more annoying than an app that you can’t understand or just crashes all the time. I’ve heard all the pros and cons about choosing AT&T as my internet provider, and just to be fair I gave them all a chance to show me how great their services are. Along with their services, are their apps that are suppose to help you set up, monitor, and ask for help if needed. I’ve used the app a few times in the beginning, since I wasn’t using much of the internet. But, with the pandemic I started using more and more of my devices that required internet. Setting up those devices somestimes needed me to go back and forth to check for IP addresses and MAC addresses and had it not been for the app, it would’ve driven me insane. That’s not all, the helpful tools they added on the app was really helpful to me. They have the speed testing, the strength signal testing, and they also list all your devices which was helpful to see which one needs attention. If you needed to figure out something about your internet, mostly you’ll find the answer in this app. So, needless to say... I’m happy with this app and highly recommend using it.

Costumer service have to be improved. I have been dealing with AT&T internet issues for almost a month, and the experience has been extremely stressful and exhausting. 1. I spoke with 4–5 different representatives, and only ONE of them was actually able to understand the issue and provide real assistance. 2. I was without properly working internet for almost TWO WEEKS. I work online, so this directly affected my income. 3. When I explained that I was losing money because I work on the phone/internet, AT&T offered me only a $20 credit and said that was “the best they could do.” 4. After hours of waiting on the phone trying to reach a live representative, they finally sent me a replacement modem — and the new modem DOES NOT WORK. 5. My monthly bill suddenly increased from around $69 to almost $80–90 without any proper explanation. No representative could clearly explain why the price changed. They simply repeated, “that is the current price.” 6. Even while I had internet problems and service interruptions, I was still charged full price PLUS additional charges. 7. Now AT&T wants me to return the old modem, but the new modem they sent does not work, and I do not even know which modem is properly connected at this point. 8. To fix this situation, I now have to go through the same nightmare again: hours on the phone, repeating the same story to multiple representatives, and possibly waiting again for another technician visit. This entire experience has cost me a huge amount of time, stress, energy, and money. Extremely disappointing customer service and communication.

Profile management is a pain. I have to open this app every day to re-enable a profile that limits my child’s screen time, and to do that, I have to wait for a splash screen to load, another screen to populate, then a network page to populate before I can get to the profiles. The process doesn’t really take that long, but on the IOS version, the profile page crashes 9/10 times. A good app would open to where you left it. This app also sends a bunch of notifications of “network health”, but not a one about profile status, or a notification that a profile was enabled/disabled. A good app lets you select the notifications you wish to receive. This app hasn’t had an update in quite some time, and AT&T support can’t explain how the profiles get re-enabled. They need a widget. Update - ios app crashes repeatedly still, profiles get disabled, and repeat calls to at&t about the issue are blamed on the syncing of the app. Lets get it fixed, I’ve been seeing the same issue since it was released!

Repair and Sales. Yesterday we were without internet service. Jon at AT&T came, assessed the problem. It involved working on the box outside and the box inside. He was very knowledgeable, efficient, pleasant and courteous. We had internet in less than an hour. I would highly recommend Jon and AT&T. At the same time yesterday Austin from the sales dept at AT&T came out. He told us the advantages of switching our cell service to AT&T. My husband was badly in need of a new phone. He was able to get a 14 Pro free and I was able to upgrade to a 15 Pro Max at no cost but sales tax. It lowered our internet bill. Everything was explained fully. We were not pressured in any way. We are very pleased with the outcome, especially the fact that we are saving money. We both will be receiving $200 gift cards for switching to AT&T. I would highly recommend Austin at AT&T.

Can’t even access the app. I enter my user ID and password and it says information is incorrect. So I figured maybe I don’t have the right info. Click the “forgot user ID” and it it emails me my user ID which I had correct. So then I figured I must have forgotten the password. So click the “forgot password” link and get sent a temp password which i use to log into the website, not the app, and reset my password. I then go BACK to the app and enter the information I just received and then it says “uh oh. This user ID is not associated with any AT&T internet service account.” Seriously? I clicked the “forgot user ID” and used the information AT&T sent me that was associated with my account but then it says nope. So I have yet to access my router through the app and my internet service is slower and worse than it was before I asked to upgrade. I have to shut off wi-if on my iPhone and use data because the wi-if doesn’t load anything. I have reset my gateway multiple times, I have cleared cache and deleted/reinstalled the app but still get the same Message.

Tech company with a not so great app. I could say SO much about AT&T (like how about all that stolen customer data we all just found about!) but I’ll try to keep these comments to just the app. For a while there was an annoying pop-up in the app for setting your shortcuts but someone came to their senses and stopped that. Also, I’ve repeatedly tried to update the Location field in the app which says my Gateway is in the attic, which is wrong, but it always reverts back to that and doesn’t retain what I set it to. Like many others have recently mentioned, I went through about two weeks with the app saying my network was offline when it really wasn’t. I ultimately ended up on the phone with customer service and after checking/doing all the things that I told them I’d already done, the rep said he was sending me the newest Gateway as mine was much older. While I don’t really think it was a Gateway problem but instead a problem in their system, once I had the new one set up, the app once again showed my network online. However, it still doesn’t accurately show all my devices that are connected to it no matter how many times I refresh. If I go to the advanced settings on the web, I can clearly see everything but even after clearing the device list there and rescanning, there’s still no change to what I see in the app. So, I still think there’s an issue somewhere in AT&T’s system and until that’s addressed, I can’t use the app to properly manage everything on my network. Specs: iPhone 15 plus, iOS 17.4.1, and yes, I’m using the latest version of the app.

Ugh!. The app seems good and nice at first... but... AT&T.. First to install a AT&T extender through the app they make you combine your 2.4 and 5.0 WiFi bands. This creates a situation where devices will attempt to join 5ghz even if they are too far away from it. (5ghz although fast, has a short distance) I reserve my 5ghz for Firesticks only. (You can desperate the bands later, with constant warning in app) The app is also highly inaccurate! It will show a extender with nothing connected to it despite having a iPhone next to it and a desktop computer Ethernet wired to it. My son’s friend connected his XBox Ethernet connected to the extender... he left hours ago... still the app shows it is connected! (Yes I’ve refreshed) Most of the time all my devices will show as connected directly to the main gateway hub and nothing on the extender. At some point today the app told me the extender was down, then the app lost connection to the gateway completely which caused me to reboot the gateway and extender. The app also notified me there was interference, so I did the suggested scan. However Firesticks only connect on the 36 channel of 5.0! Any other channel will cause the Firesticks to lose 5.0 and WiFi. There is no option to adjust channels via the app and must be done through the gateway portal. I’ve search the community boards and these inaccurate readings and extender issues are all over them, yet AT&at does nothing! In theory the App is nice, it’s execution does not deliver and I wonder who is dropping the ball when it comes to testing and quality controlling the app?!

Great app for monitoring and securing your network.. For those of us that aren’t IT savvy by trade, this app is fantastic! It first tells you that the network is online and functioning normally or if it isn’t. Once past that, you can conduct speed tests of upload and download and you can see the devices connected to the network and how much bandwidth/data they’re using. You can also give certain connected devices “priority” over other devices and you can block connected devices. I like the last feature in case someone outside your home we’re to gain access to your network, you can block them. Overall, a very helpful app. Great job AT&T!

Mixed feelings. The app works well enough. It’s nice to choose which device gets priority and schedule downtime. However, I haven’t been able to run a speed test in a year. My last time was December 2022. It tells me unable to complete the test and that I need a technician. Speed is awful and the technician says it’s our fault for having too much on the internet at once (I pause devices and usually only have 3 devices when doing something important and it still doesn’t work properly) the last technician showed up at 11am while I was at work and the appointment wasn’t until after 4pm. They also say I need to upgrade to fiber, but then say it’s not available for me. 😒

May 2020 redesign harder to use. Edit: Thank you for responding and adding the old usability back! In June 2020 release the device usage by day and hour has been added back. Much more useful now, thank you! It’s nice to be able to see all the connected devices, but the previous UI was much better for that. On the home screen it said how many devices were connected, which one had used the most recently, and had useful charts for comparison of usage on one click. Now, the devices are just a list with no usage comparison available easily. Sorry devs, it’s harder to use now in my opinion. The WiFi strength detector is cool.

Ok for data management. With our previous internet provider we could set a schedule that would allow certain windows for our kids to have internet. It would shut off wifi at bedtime, turn back on for a brief time in the morning, then shut off again when it was time for school, and then turn on again a few hours after school. This app only allows one downtime window to be set. So we have to manually turn things off and on throughout the day. What a pain. I do like that when you pause the wifi for a grouping you can set a duration. I wish you could do the reverse. Unpause it for a set time. My kids can earn a half hour or hour of wifi by doing chores. It would be so much easier if I could set a duration so it would auto shutoff.

WiFi Gateway offline!. It sure would be amazing if you guys fixed this WiFi gateway offline issue. My gateway is plugged in. I have reset it many times and unplugged it, waited over 30 seconds then plugged it back in and I have had one of your technicians come to the house. The response I got was that it’s a problem with your system and won’t get fixed until enough people have an issue with it. Here is my issue…. I do not have unlimited data but I do have 4 kids that think they have unlimited data and the only way that I can prevent data overage charges is to restrict their access to the gateway but I cannot do that until this gateway offline problem is fixed. Hopefully you guys are willing to eat data overage charges until this is fixed otherwise ill be looking for a new provider that has a fully functioning system.

A little less arguing with the kids. This app doesn’t give the ability to block certain websites (but it should be an option); however, it does allow you to block certain devices from accessing the WiFi and allow you to set a time block for each device. With this app, we don’t have to argue with the kids to come eat or take a shower, we simply just turn off their WiFi and they get it done before their WiFi is unlocked again. I also like how you can prioritize certain devices to allow a larger percentage of the available bandwidth or limit other devices to a maximum amount of bandwidth.

My neighbor gets 100md and I get only 20. For you guys to not have interest for the little neighborhoods here out here is absolutely disturbing. When my dad used to work for AT&T you guys used to really care about your customers now we can’t even get you to run a little extra copper so the rest of the neighborhood enjoy better Internet than a measly 20. For such an upcoming corporation, I grew up watching from being Indiana Bell all the way to what it is now. Your representatives response is only that there is not enough customers for your interest. That was one of the most disappointing calls I ever had. If my neighbor has 100 I should be able to have 100. Fountaintown is an upcoming developing town if this is how you want to continue business by all means, I hope to not see AT&T grow with our community In good fortune that someone with actual true customer care will take your place.

Works Well Most Of The Time. This is a handy tool for managing security and content profiles for each device on the home network. Pretty much a necessity if one wants to take advantage of AT&T’s Active Armor protection. However, the app seems to lose contact with the gateway fairly frequently even though there is nothing wrong with the gateway itself and no configuration changes have occurred. The only recourse is to wait a few hours or perhaps overnight for the app to find the gateway once again. AT&T support reports that this is a common, known issue. My question for AT&T is if this is a known issue, why hasn’t it been addressed? Despite this one flaw, I do recommend the app.

Suggestion for Router Software Enhancement. Subject: Suggestion for Router Software Enhancement Dear AT&T Product Team, I’m proposing a feature for your routers similar to Cisco’s OpenDNS Family Shield, which allows users to set DNS servers to block adult content across all devices in a household. Currently, AT&T routers don’t allow users to change DNS settings, which limits our ability to implement such filtering. Please consider either enabling custom DNS server settings or integrating OpenDNS Family Shield feature directly into your routers to provide family-friendly internet protection. Also extend this protection on wireless devices. This would be a valuable addition for many customers. Thank you.

Full signal with good speeds but refuses to connect. This app looks nice on the surface, but what should be plug and play internet is anything but. I have a view of an AT&T tower and my phones and tablets get fast and reliable service. Queue home internet, and it’s a dud. Fails to activate, spent half of a day with support on the AT&T and CostCo side and both point fingers at one another. I’m fairly technical, and even used to be an indirect agent with AT&T. Sadly, support and escalation doesn’t even know the products on the market. The email response for customer service for bad reviews goes nowhere. Bottom line is AT&T Air isn’t ready for prime time yet. There’s little competition with the major carriers, so if fiber is available, go with that. Sadly, telecommunications monopolies leave massive internet deserts across the US. Even if there are towers, they cannot support home internet in most places.

Buggy App. Seems like application has always had bugs, very erratic. I currently have two extenders connected and in use. However when viewing Advance on Network, sometimes display shows items connected to Extender and sometimes to Gateway when signal is actually coming from extender. Glitch is mentioned many times in recent reviews. Been with DirecTv well over 20 years, Cellular and internet much longer. For past few years, service for all three products have suffered. DirecTv AM21 unable to edit OTA channels, Cell tower is two block away, signal down from 4 to 2 bars and internet infrastructure is close to 50 years old. Beach air and copper equal corrosion. Awaiting arrival of fiber to home service. AT&T and Spectrum are upgrading services in our city. Whoever offers it first get my business.

Was a 5 star, now a 4 star. I recently upgraded to fiber and I love it. All of my 50+ smart home devices work flawlessly. However, simultaneously the “usage by device” function was removed from the Smart Home app. This was one of the most useful features as it allowed me to look back 24 hours or even a week and see ALL devices that had been connected to my Wifi...even ones that I do not recognize, so I could then black list them. The app captured the IP address as well as the MAC address of ALL devices that had accessed my Wifi. Now, if I’m going to catch someone piggybacking, I have to log on at the same time they are. Not very effective. PLEASE AT&T, restore that functionality!

Failure to bring up Home Screen & inaccurate info. I have had a lot of issues with this app for a couple months now. Initially the loading screen when you first open the app was taking forever to get to the Home Screen. Then once everything is there, it will say my wifi is connected and not be working on my devices. Or vice versa where it says no network, but works fine on my devices. I’m addition as of recent it is telling me that my safety functions have been disabled and gives the option to go to settings, but the setting options are useless. Very frustrated with this system. The automated help chat is also not helpful. Currently have been attempting to access the home page for over 4 hours, just keeps “Checking Your Home Network-Testing for issues.”

A little wavy. I love this app because it has so many functions. - shutting off internet for unknown devices. - scheduled down time for everyone. - being able to see usage on all devices. - checking internet speeds and connection strength It also lets me know when my internet is down and why. The AI support is super helpful because it’s precise, if they can’t find your answers, they’ll send you to support. The only thing about this app that makes it a little wish washy is because they’ve shut down the internet twice around 12 am - 8 am, within the same week. (Not during support hours) It took them quite a while to let me know there was an outage, and I’m just staring at my blank TV (which runs only on wifi) we don't have cable. Was trying to reset the router for an hour before I realized its not my internet its a broad problem. Me being a night owl, if they needed to do maintenance, all they had to do was say so. Overall its a good app, and pretty useful. Other than not being able to reset my internet sometimes, its good.

Bugs need fixing- put it back the way it was. The app no longer saves your login to sign you in automatically (even when you click save info)- so when you’re frustrated with internet already you have to go through another few steps to login and get the problem resolved. It also stops remembering names of devices and puts AT&T phones as “unknown device” so you have no idea what this new device is that is using so much data. For the login issue, I’ve tried clicking save sign-in info multiple times and ways - manually typing in my info, using the phones saved option. The app takes a bit to get to the app age that actually allows you to fix problems and when you pause a device it can take up to 30 minutes for it to actually pause the device.

It’s ok. I really like the ability to set a profile so certain devices pause while our school pod is here to help manage WiFi use. For some reason, our Google home device always has limited functionality if it’s assigned to a profile, even when internet isn’t paused. Also, if you have several devices if one kind, it’s almost impossible to figure out which is which in the profile, even while sitting next to it and pausing internet on each profile one-by-one. The “device usage” tab shows a different device name than the functional screen where you can edit and pause the devices. It would be great if the edit/pause screen could link to the device name in the usage graph. This app is a good idea and would be 5 stars if it wasn’t so difficult to manage

Test your entire house!. Every room and hallway I walked through there was a signal-strength reading. And this app isn’t trying to sell you something it’s checking for weak areas-of your Wi-Fi signal. I now have a tool that I plan on using on a regular basis! And it does so much more than just that! If you hook everything up right you’ve got complete control over everything that uses energy in-your whole house, garage, and yard-tool shed in your back yard if it’s wired. And you can control this anywhere you can-get an internet signal or cell phone signal which is 98% of the UnitedStates and most all of Canada!

Same bugs for several years. Although I praise the idea of pausing internet activity with your connected devices, after pausing the first device it seems to time out when you try to pause additional devices and takes up to 5-10 retries for it to actually pause the selected devices. This has been an ongoing problem for the last three years that I’ve had this app and has never been resolved for each update this app has had. It’s beyond frustrating as it is to have a device with a weak signal due to multiple devices being connected and then have to sit around 5-10 minutes to try to pause each device. I don’t know if this is AT&T’s way to force a customer in buying an upgraded internet package but this defeats the purpose in enjoying the benefits of this app.

Data Usage by Device & Activity is TERRIBLE. The Smart home manager app fails to show Data Usage by Device & Activity history (24hr and 7 day options) for devices connect via guest wifi. I should be able to see device and activity history for all devices connected to my home and guest wifi. ALSO, the app shows an AlphaNet device wireless connection in my history but does not provide MAC data for it nor allows me to pause or BLOCK this device. The app does did not provide a notification when this unknown AlphaNet device connected to my internet. Is this AlphaNet device hacking my system?? ThIs app needs more SECURITY features to scan all devices that connect to your internet both home and guest wifi. It does not scan devices that can connect to the guest wifi? Why not??

Dark mode needed. When I got my AT&T air Wi-Fi tower, I was interested in using this app for viewing my bill and whatever else it includes. However, since I am legally blind, and cannot see very much at all anymore, I use dark mode on all of my apps and Browsers to read the information. When I downloaded the smart home manager, I could not read the information because it doesn’t allow a dark mode setting. This leads to the fact that I cannot use this app at all. Please put in the settings the availability of dark mode for those of us who need that setting to read the app. Please be reminded that in the United States we have the Americans With Disabilities Act that requires everything to be able to be accessible for those people who need accessibility feature features such as dark mode. Thank you.

Love the Family Controls!. I made the switch from Spectrum (awful service dropping hourly) to AT&T and I can only say amazing things! From the installation tech, customer service advisor that came out with the tech, & all of the perks (like this app) that I wasn’t aware of that came with the service… I can’t boast enough! Thank you for letting me take control of the gaming/iPad allowance on individual devices!!! Spectrum didn’t have any of this and I was still paying double with them for service that only worked directly by the router, yet still dropped internet at least once an hour. Props to you AT&T, you have a client for life now! ❤️

Child Internet Controls. This app puts internet controls back into the hands of the parents. My children bring their chromebooks home from school and the internet (even if limited due to built in controls from school admin) is at their finger tips at all hours of the night. Now I can shut the internet down at a specific time! We are asking so much - too much! - of our children in terms of responsibility and discipline with technology for their age. Adults even struggle! So to have the controls in place to support them as they learn responsibility is a gift. This app is the very best.

Speed Test is inaccurate. I have AT&T and called Technical Support to get help with my broadband disconnecting and slow speeds. After the Tech resolves my issue they recommended I download the Smart Home app so that I could manage my network and verify it was working as expected. The app itself is very useful except for a few things. 1. It can be slow to connect to my network. 2. The app does no always recognize my router and is not able to list out the attached devices. 3. The speed test reads significantly higher than other online speed tests to the point that I do not trust it. Overall having the ability to view my attached devices and be able to pause them is a good feature but do not trust the speed test.

Terrible customer service. I’ve had a recurring problem with this app disabling profiles, daily, pretty much immediately after I enable them. The app is useless for controlling internet use when that function is disabled. I’ve reached out to AT&T multiple times about this issue. Called twice; absolutely no help. In-app help is even more useless. AI is terrible at deciphering the problem (Which I would expect since it’s a computer and not a human). When I finally get AI to give me the live chat link, every single time it tells me it is too busy; try later. I’ve been trying for about a month now. AT&T’a complete lack of customer service is making me rethink continuing business with them. I have alternatives where I live, and I don’t wish to do business with a company that cares so little about its customers that it won’t offer any meaningful way to give feedback.

You can do better, at&t. I was unable to run a speed test, so I tried the virtual assistant. It let me know that it could restart the network, which is what I wanted, so I chose that option. It asked me to explain why I wanted to do that. I explained and it decided to run a speed test instead, which of course, didn’t work. Then it tried again, and again, and again, and again… I closed out of that and the assistant asked if that was helpful. I said No. It said it would like additional feedback. So I was going to write this there, but the text field only displayed the first few words of my reply. Other than that, the app is alright.

Its amazing just buggy. Having issues with the internet “smart home manager” app and trying to name my SSID and PASSWORD. Yet still being buggy and not letting me fix those issues. I got internet air and 1gig modem router yet when i switch account between the internet air and the stationary internet like the 1Gig the app stops working normally. Not sure if its the update or if its the connection. But i do remember since i had my internet gone down one night, since then been having issues not sure if its my account but I really wish the app can be fixed. Working from home and got guests and family coming its hard to manage drvices. Please fix this issue thank you!

Needs work and has fatal glitches. Thirty-six days ago, the app developer responded to a review complaining that the app had stopped working and stated that they were working on a fix. That was March 1. Today is April 5. Between March 1 and April 5 many reviews have warned that the app fails to function, apparently because of a flawed update. The only incredible thing about “the incredible new version” advertised is how incredibly long we have waited for the app to work. Too bad Apple doesn’t allow users to award negative stars for miserable customer service and tech support. The app had been great but it recently ceased working on iPhones using updated iOS. It does still work on my iPad. On the iPhone it rejects the correct password. As usual, ATT is either unaware of the problem, suggesting inadequate quality control, or is slow in providing a remedy, suggesting inadequate customer service.

Very deceptive app. Downloaded this app as suggested to improve my AT&T internet experience which has been abysmal thus far. They already have me on my 2nd router in just two years as they can’t seem to figure out how to just consistently give me quality internet within 75% of the speeds promised. Also they’ve disconnected my internet when working on my neighbors, not like I needed internet for that next week (because it takes them 2-3 days to actually show up when you take off work to get your internet fixed. So this app, it’s internet connection measured is consistently >100x what I’m actually getting. For example, earlier today, instead of my 50-75 MBPS (supposed to have higher but I digress) I had .8MBPS measured. This app states my connection was great at 109 MBPS. Very disappointed in this company. You don’t get what you pay for.

Missing obvious functionality. Dear AT&T: Why can’t I set a different schedule for different days of the week? I have a profile to pause internet to my kids’ TV… but in order for it to have a later pause time on Friday nights than on Tuesday nights I need to manually edit the whole profile! We should be able to choose different schedules for different days. (I know you can exclude days entirely, but that’s not good enough — I still want a pause time on weekends, I just want it to be a little later then on weekdays.) Alternately, let me make a weekend profile that’s separate. I can’t do that either because you only allow each unique device to be in a single profile. Please add this basic additional functionality!

Needs some upgrades and a couple bug fixes. App is ok. I have a problem with it saying my Extenders are offline when they are not offline. It will tell me all the devices are connected to the gateway when I know they are connected to the extenders as I even have some devices connected to the extenders via Ethernet. Also sense we are taking about extenders please add a option to pick a device to connect to a certain extender. I will have a extender right next to a device and the device will connect to another extender all the way across the house. Finally I saw this in a couple other peoples reviews, add more device type options. Would love to label my smart light bulbs as “lights” instead of “smart home device”

Great when it works. Useless with no internet.. I feel like I’ve lost years of my life with this app. Whenever there is an issue worth you’re internet connection you’re steered toward this app. If you’re internet is up, it’s great. You can customize a lot of settings on your home network. I like that. When your internet is not functioning correctly it’s useless. The app won’t even function when there is no internet connection. Kind of defeats the purpose of fixing a connection issue if it won’t work without a connection. I’m currently having a lot of internet outrages at my home and every time I try to use the app to fix it I get “we seem to be having trouble” restart the app and try again. Over and over…. The best part is that I have to reset my ATT password EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to log in when the internet is not functioning.

Be in control. It is nice to be able to see everything currently connected to wifi at home from anywhere. From pet and door cams to satellite receivers to anyone not authorized who may have accessed your wifi. Initial setup of ATT self install wifi was a four hour nightmare, but my issues may very well have been a fluke, we really do not know. But, after finally getting a live person on the phone at almost midnight, by 1:20am the system was up and running and all is good. Maybe the app can add convenient features later such as access to cams from the app or maybe just surprise us with some cool stuff. I am satisfied though all in all.

AT&T internet Air - Good service horrible AT&T APP. This app won’t allow me to add profiles and customize my kids schedules! I can’t block any devices or pause the internet!!! I’ve called At&t spent hours on the phone with customer service trying to get help on this situation… All they say is that they will put in a support ticket and I never hear anything from it! I believe it’s due to the advance active armor that is not suppose to be offered on the internet air… every time I try to add a profile or customize it just says activating advanced armor, and the pop up box disappears.. super frustrating specially when AT&T told me the advanced armor was never suppose to be offered and that is probably why it has messed with my account specially when I can’t dis-activate it! Hopefully someone in software at AT&T will read this and fix this bug!

Horrible since I upgraded my service. I recently upgraded my service on att internet, and since then have had nothing but issues with the att smart home manager app. If I could give negative stars I would. I cannot see or manage my devices, check my usage or set time parameters for my teens’ internet usage. When calling for technical help, the solution is to unplug the router and start it again—which interrupts everyone’s internet for 10-15 minutes. I also have extenders for my home, and when the router is unplugged, all three extenders have to be reset as well. The whole process takes over an hour, and it is very frustrating, to say the least. I have unplugged and reset my router more times than I can count, to no avail. It used to be a great app, but alas, not any more. ATT please address this issue, so the app does what it claims to do!

Pleasantly surprised. I’m really not a fan of AT&T - especially not very satisfied with the customer service experiences I’ve had even going back to when they were Ma Bell and Ameritech, but this app is a great way to see, understand, and connect with my home WiFi network. I’m not a hi-tech person, but this app has proven to be beneficial and useful. I recently got a scam call from “AT&T” that went to voicemail telling me my service was suspended for “verification” and “please press this button...etc.” I was able to pull up my home network from work and saw everything was running smoothly and then called the real AT&T to let them know what happened with the scam call. Pretty cool app indeed.

Fixed my speed test etc thank you!. It says i have a reply to my review but can not seem to find it. I wanted to let you know that I was having trouble with my speed test and etc. different parts of my Internet, but it appears that you someone has fixed it and I want to thank whoever it was that has fixed it. I have not had problems since I look forward to it running smoothly for now on in the future and I want to thank whoever fixed my problem. It was very upsetting for at least a month or two and now it’s so far for the last couple of weeks it’s been running nice please keep it running smoothly I depend on it. And so do others thanks again. I love this app.

Horrible. This app is useless and the fiber internet I pay for is a joke. I thought I would be having better internet than when I lived out in the country with some no name provider I was wrong I never had a problem with our no name provider needing WiFi extender living in a larger home and now I have a smaller home and at&t says I need WiFi extender for best signal the tech didn’t want to put the modem where I wanted so it’s all the way in a corner of the house I never go to half way though the house I have poor or no WiFi and they want me to pay for WiFi extender I don’t think so I will pay for my early cancellation fee and change over to the cable internet offered hear before i spend another dime wit at&t and why do you offer parental control if every time I check it is turned off complete and total waste of money if you think you will have good internet

Really easy, really good integration. I’m sure there’s an IT professional out there that doesn’t like something about the app, but as a regular guy that’s reasonably competent managing basic networks, and components, this app is fantastic. Actually everything about AT&T fiber and home network has been fantastic (install, setup, system checks, network management through the app, etc). Event adding a 8 port (unmanaged) Ethernet Switch and registering the devices on the home network is simplified through this app. Really, very impressed and bridges the gap between complex network Administration and user friendly (non-technical) home network management. We’ll done.

Lousy user interface. Pros: remotely restart your router. Pause WiFi or block devices. Cons: Every time you open the app it runs a network diagnostic which takes a while and you can’t do anything until it is done. After that there is some kind of pop-up screen with several options that are never what I want. You have to close that to get to the real Home Screen, where you can finally click on the tab you want. One other big problem, when a device joins your network there is no information to identify what the device is. Sometimes I get a notification that a device joined the network. When I click on it the app opens but there’s literally no way to know which device just joined.

Convenient but confusing.. While I love all of the awesome technological features added to the nest thermostat, I am having some issues actually getting it to connect to my Wi-Fi and then more issues. Trying to connect that to Google Home and my Google speaker. It seems every time they release a new model all the old models become obsolete, which negates the money saving quality of having a smart thermostat. The points to save money and yet I’m having to upgrade every time something is no longer the newest technology and they don’t incorporate old devices into the new systems which is pretty annoying. Other than that though it’s a great thermostat and I really enjoy the eco-feature.

Garbage Customer Service. It’s almost impossible to get in direct touch with anybody and once you’re done talking to robots, you will sit on the phone for over an hour with someone who also can’t help you set up the Wi-Fi that was supposed to be so easy, you could set it up yourself! You will then go on to have an appointment set over the phone just for no one to show up (twice) open the smart home app /chat and they will tell you there’s issues with the app then they will reschedule your appointment. Now, why would I believe someone would show up a third time after already getting neglected twice in my new home?? Idk Mind you I already have Wi-Fi with AT&T. I simply moved. None of this should be as hard as it is to get real help, but I’m highly disappointed and unimpressed and since my appointment is gonna take forever to come, I’ll have time to consider a new service. 😇

Time limiting & enhancements. This app is great for limiting the amount of time a device is connected to the internet but could be a bit more robust. I would like the time frame settings re-relocate to the top of the profile page. Currently it’s at the bottom of the profile page, and if you have a lot of devices to scroll through, you’ll be scrolling for times before you can see the time frame settings. Sometimes that’s all you need to change, but first you have to scroll through the long list of devices just to access the time frame settings. I’d also like to see the ability to block websites by name or IP addresses either indefinitely of a specified period of time.

Unusable app now. Since they made this latest update, I have been unable to use the app. I now have to log into the website to manage my AT&T air. I spent over an hour with tech-support and they supposedly opened a ticket trying to get past this requirement that I have to accept the terms of service, that I had to accept for them to even start my service back quite a few months ago. Now the app won’t work no matter what I do. Don’t bother if you use AT&T air and want to use this app. They were supposed to fix this over a week ago and obviously they have not because I have tried multiple times since then and nothing has worked or been fixed. I can login and see my terms of service through my account oddly enough and there’s nowhere to accept it again.

Inadequate, limited, confusing. This app is inadequate and limited. It only supports 6 profiles and 20 devices per profile. Devices can only be assigned to a single profile and once a device is assigned to a profile it can no longer be managed independently. Dreadfully limiting. Also the user interface is confusing and counterintuitive. You’d think with all the money AT&T makes they could hire competent engineers to configure a simple application. Also the app is riddled with bugs. It reports my network off line when it is up and running, it does not recognize the BGW210 Gateway we have installed and keeps looking for a non existent BGW320 on our network . It says we have a Basic 6 plan when in fact we have an Internet 1000 plan. All these problems have prompted countless chats and calls with ATT support staff. Penny wise and pound foolish are the bean counters destroying a once great US company.

Great concept, poor delivery. The app has some good features, if they worked. I’ve had multiple technicians come out to repair connectivity issues (Last one was today), and we are still experiencing the same issues with the app not accurately displaying what’s connected to the gateway. The technician was unable to pair Airties 4920 extenders using the app or his equipment, and AT&T Tier I level tech support told the technician they don’t provide support to the extender even though they sell, and sold, them to me and other customers. Why put out a product that doesn’t really give the user the ability to easily “manage” their home network, which would greatly minimize the need for so many tech support calls. My AT&T experience has been subpar and everything is layered so no one, except for the customer, has to take responsibility for anything.

Great way to manage my home internet. I love the simplicity of the AT&T Smart Home Manager app. I can easily control who’s online and prioritize two devices for 2 hours when needed. You can assign devices to people’s profiles and turn them off as needed, too (works very well when our 11 y/o is using too much internet for too long). I can also run a gateway speed test to ensure I’m getting all 1000 mbps (which I’m often getting more than that). Another perk of this app is that it helps you find the best and worst spots for WiFi access in your home and offers suggestions. I’m very happy with this app and have even gotten my mom and fiancé to start using it.

SUPER SERVICE AND CARING. I have never experienced a technician that was not only competent and polite, but cared about me, my service, and if there was anything else he could do. He even called me on Thursday to see if my new SE phone had arrived and if he could help me set it up, over the phone. I declined as I had misplaced the SE somewhere in the bedroom. My carpeting is a very dark brown and the phone is black. Very similar colors, plus the phone is much smaller than my present phone. I have gotten away from how great your technician was. I would have him back anytime. Actually he is way above 5 stars. He’s an asset to your company.

Absolute garbage.. I have a system with two extenders close to the gateway that are run off of wifi, and one extender that is far from the gateway but runs off of a long cat6 cable from the gateway. Long story short , just pray that the power doesnt go out. Everytime the power goes out, all extenders will show green lights and after resetting individually, the Smart Home Manager app still says all three are offline. The earlier version of this app worked flawlessly. It used to be where you had an actualy roadmap style interface to see an actual MAP with straight lines showing wired connection, or dotted lines showing WiFi connections to other extenders/devices. This new version off the app is absolute crap and does not hold up like the old version used to. It doesnt matter if you close and reopen the app as it will just show you the same results and troubleshooting procedures.

Wow! Well Done AT&T - Across the Board. Having been a long time Comcast customer (not by choice) - my expectations for not only my internet service but everything else that comes with it like this app, were not very high. But.... I have been blown away by AT&T’s service and apps. This app is fast, just like the fiber optic gig internet service! It makes managing everything a breeze. It’s competitor from Comcast would take minutes to update a WiFi network name and password - this app does it under 5 seconds. Everyone I have dealt with has been great; very friendly & helpful.. So to AT&T as a whole, I must say.... Well done. I’m thrilled to be a new, 1st time customer!

App really basic. The app is useful for certain things but it’s really basic in a sense that it doesn’t even recognize the devices by their names. For instance, if a games console( ps4) connects to the Wi-Fi it lists it and everything else as unknown device so I don’t know which device to pause when I need to. I’ve used other internet companies and their apps were able to do that along with many other things. Also if someone connects to your internet with AT&T if you happen to be able to recognize which device it was you can’t remove the device you can only pause it. The Wi-Fi is already not that good and to have to deal with this app makes it worse. I’m only with AT&T right now because that’s all that’s available in my area. Smh
