Great once you get the hang of it. Having previously only used dockless share bikes in Beijing, the CaBi bikes are so nice! The app is straightforward and the route planning function is great. My criticisms aren’t with the app though: The way you choose a subscription level is unnecessarily complicated and the keypads on some of the docks are consistently broken, making it hard to retrieve a bike sometimes. Otherwise, great experience.

PHENOMENAL. Stayed in D.C. for 3 days and was able to find bike docks everywhere! Spent $17 on a 72 hour pass and it was worth every single penny! Was able to get from my Airbnb to downtown in 10 minutes and was also able to get to see all the monuments and museum and spent no money on uber and didn't have to deal with city traffic. Absolutely amazing

Ride didn’t end correctly. This was my second time using this service. I mainly go for a 10 min ride down the street and back. When I returned the bike and the station showed it’s locked I left. The App didn’t send any notifications if it was completed ongoing. So I figured it’s done. Then I received a text message from Lyft telling that the ride still going on and I’m being charged!!!!! There was no place to follow this up. Ride wasn’t listed in my App. I reported the issue. Now, a day after, in charred $102 for a $2 ride!!!!!! This is ridiculous .

Decent but horrible customer support. Things are fine unless you need to actually get in contact with someone. Have had several seemingly easy to fix issues and it’s nearly impossible to get responses. Just a warning that Bike Angel points occasionally won’t be applied to rides and CaBi will refuse to add them. E-Bikes’ pedal assist won’t work and they’ll refuse to refund the surcharge. You’re really on your own with this service.

AWFUL CUSTOMER SUPPORT. I never leave reviews waste of time but my god for the amount of time I’ve wasted with customer support on this app it’s terrible and I hope no one has to relive this. Please note that myself my friends have had issues docking the bikes. And they just tell you to leave it there they have to wait until it “”ends” and someone else will steal the bike and use it. It’s a Teri le system. I’ve talk to three customer support reps about this issue and STILL HAVE NOT HAD THE ISSUE RESOLVED!! I am at a loss for words and my account was suspended for THEIR ERROR!!! And on top of that I was charged $25. This is the absolute worst service setup. Never had this issue back in SF. This app and bikes are TERRIBLE.

Perfect Day!. I was skeptical about using this app after reading through reviews, but thankfully went through with a $8 day pass and had the perfect day! We started in National Harbor and took the gorgeous Mount Vernon trail north. We did four separate rides and yes some bikes are more comfortable than others, but they all worked perfectly fine. When we reached our final destination there were no docking stations, but thankfully someone was working there and just unlocked a bike for us to dock ours. The app was so simple, I had no additional charges (changed out our bikes before 45 mins which was very simple), and had no issues with docking/renting. Absolutely recommend as a way to see the city!! Roads and paths are so bike friendly and gorgeous, you can’t go wrong here.

Misinformation re: available bikes. Consistently, the app tells you bikes are available when they are not. Beyond being annoying and frustrating, this is da vero is considering women oftentimes walk a certain distance, assuming a bike will be available when it in fact is not & will not unlock. I called customer service & they said that the bikes werent unlocking because someone who rode it previously must have reported an issue. Ok...so then why doesn’t the app reflect this? It should show ONLY bikes that are able to be unlocked, not those waiting for maintenance.

Great bike-share model program!. Capital Bikeshare is a wonderful program accompanied by a highly accessible app. I wish more cities were as bikeable as DC to see more programs like this. The only complaint i have for the app is that it doesn’t let you track your ride history better within the app (just to see how many calories are burned in a day of riding for example). Great work overall!

Before you ride. Obviously these bikes need maintenance occasionally and will not be in perfect condition. But after riding 5 miles to work and not finding an available dock I got charged $25. I ride a bike daily so now I will just buy my own bike to avoid this problem and stop using the bike share. I also found this style bike is not for me as they don’t have a straight truss bar from seat to handle bar. But it gets the job done.

Great Simple Useful.. I found this app easy to use and extremely useful. Most helpful features for me is locating nearby bikes And the confirmation notification that comes when immediately upon docking the bike I found that most status data on breaks and docs available was accurate however a couple were way off. Another useful feature is the stopwatch starting immediately after the bike is checked out. The most desirable feature that isn’t implemented is being able to locate key dispensers. The online web based map shows that info but the app does not include it at all if you need to find a key dispenser forget about using the app for that.

Terrible. I came to DC, saw these bikes parked outside a walmart and tried using one after downloading the app. I unlocked the bike through the app, but it did not get unlocked at the station and remained stuck. I contacted the customer support, he said he was sorry the station didn’t work. I should try another one. I tried again with another bike, once again it remained stuck. I told the customer service again. He said he was sorry and i should contact customer service again for refund of the charged amount. 24 hours later, i was charged 50 dollars (25 each for both the failed rides, it treated as if i rode the bike for 24 hours). I contacted the customer support twice again and they both said they will contact me with the right team. It’s been more that 2 days and no one contacted me. They don’t care for their customers. They don’t care if their bikes don’t work. Terrible. Would not recommend to anyone. Better take local transport, it’s much cheaper and efficient and you wont have to waste your precious time , energy and money.

What the heck. This is my first time using this service and atp I don’t ever want to use Lyft again. First time renting a bike goes smooth. Rent it at 6 give it back at 11 at union station. Bike does not dock when I try to put it back. Immediately try to tell the app but of course not working. Almost miss my train messing with the app. I contact customer service and they tell me since the see it’s my first time using they will cancel the ride and waive the extra mileage fees. Nope bold face lie. My app proceeded to charge me .15 a mi to go from union station to Rockville and from Rockville to Baltimore and from Baltimore to Sparrows point…. The next day. I was charged for 24 hours on a bike I rode for 6. I am beyond livid because why does it take 3 separate interactions for absolutely nothing to get done. Delete my account.

Junk bikes, few e-bikes, expensive. Cost $13 for 45 min ride. Explain how I could hire an entire car and driver (Uber) for close to same cost. E-bike listed as available in app but unavailable at station. Very few e-bikes in the system. Bikes weigh as much as cars and are rather unpleasant to ride. You also take your life in your hands amongst out of control car traffic, with no helmet to boot. This service has been a disappointment since day one years and years ago.

What happened to the trip details?. I like the ease of the new scan feature, for those of us with annual memberships and no bike key (signed up through the old app). However, I miss the detailed trip reports in the old app. Being able to see the route you took as well as the accurate number of miles you rode on each trip made the app more interesting and engaging. New app is easier to use but boring as hell!

February 2020 Update. This update made the app worse, unfortunately. The update removed helpful features like address search and route-mapping. There’s now no way to figure out how to get to a specific location without switching to another app. The update also removed the toggle between available docks and bikes, so now the only way to see if there are open docks is to click on each station. Please bring back these old features!

Intuitive app and great way to see the sights. Easily the best way to get around and see the monuments for the best price. We did eight dollars for unlimited 30 minute rides per day. I wish it were closer to 45 or an hour. That would give you a much more time to see the sides without having to interrupt your sight seeing pattern, but I am sure there is a rhyme to their reason.

Best bike sharing app I've used so far. First ride free. Apple pay compatible. Works flawlessly. Automatically starts a stopwatch when you undock the bike. Sends you a notification when you lock it back - and even notifies you if you locked it wrong.

Bad service support to improve their product. I was excited when finding this opportunity to bike around and park it during my DC trip. I appreciate the innovation to bring people convenience and a different travel experience. However new business always has opportunity /unknowns to improve in the process. One problem we discovered was that the destination had no available station for us to park the bike. We couldn’t tour the place as they suggested on the website. When I contacted the support through chat. I was directed to a place nearby however there was only one station and I rented two bikes as a group. Not to mention that station was broken. The first service person provided $5 discount to one bike but not the other in the same group ( rented by same account in same app). When I asked multiple times, no one responded. Till I called, they said we are so sorry for your experience but nothing we can do. It is so ironic that they admitted it was a bad experience but won’t do anything.

Try Harder.. There is nothing more frustrating than a transportation system that does not a good infrastructure in place when you have an emergency while using their product. First, There is no direct contact option through either the CaBi app or the Lyft app (owner). If you need to call them in a pinch you’ll have to Google their phone number and look through a few different pages before you find the correct one. This does not guarantee you will speak to a person. The reporting options within the app are insufficient. If your bike goes missing (gets stolen) you cannot select this as an option. If you had to ditch the bike because the tire blew out in the middle of a ride on the way to your job - there is no option for this either. I put Try Harder because you can build a more functional app that allows the end user to be self-sufficient or create a robust customer service infrastructure to help the end user navigate problems using your service. Pretty much anytime you experience an issue after you check out the bike you have to speak to a human and whether you’re on your way somewhere or not you are responsible for the bike. So, your only option is to wait around until someone picks up the phone.

Why Can’t This City Run a Proper Bikeshare?. There are never any ebikes, and in the rare instance when you find one at a docking station, they’re broken and out of service. Today seemed like a lucky day—FOUR ebikes instead of the usual zero. All four were broken and out of service. One was still listed on the app, for some reason, despite being out of service. Probably just to get your hopes up for nothing, which is what Capital Bike Share does best! What is the point of a bikeshare system with no working ebikes? You can’t even claim that you’re limited by the number of docking slots available, because ebikes don’t need to be returned to a docking station! They can be locked anywhere. And yet working ebikes are nowhere to be found.

Great app, but numbers aren't always up to date. Easy to use, fast app. Gets you on a bike in no time! Taking off a star because the main benefit of the app (versus using the key) is to see the # of available bikes and docking stations. Unfortunately the app's numbers are usually inaccurate (sometimes wildly so!) which makes it very difficult to plan where to end a stop. Also, sometimes there is an available bike but the app says there is none, so you can only unlock it with a key. I will likely stick to using the key and my eyeballs but it's good to have a backup.

Convenient and good customer service. Capital BikeShare is awesome. My work provides a discounted yearly membership for unlimited rides which definitely makes me use the bikes more than I normally would. The locations are convenient. I can park and lot have to worry about locking my bike or returning to the parked location. I’ve only had one issue when my bike didn’t lock upon return, but the customer service was great and they easily took care of it. High recommend!

Expensive and complicated. This is a really sadly run system. The cost of this trip for 2 was that of a limo. 17 + dollars for 4.5 miles. Go PUBLIC system that encourages folks to ride. Postscript: the locking mechanism didn’t work. So under a threat of paying 1200 dollars, I had to pay Lyft 40 dollars to take me go lock the bike. Only to find out that the locking mechanism was not working. No word on refunding the $40. But that you knew. They were ‘kind enough’ not to charge me for the remainder of their errors. Thank you Lyft, I mean CaBi.

10th Ride completed. This has been my 10th completed ride and I am impressed with the access and quality of the bikes. In those situations where I had an issue the customer service was quick, friendly and most importantly resolved my issue. On towards my 100th ride.

Unreliable app. I used the app for the first time today. I thought I needed to dock the bike every 45 minutes so as not to incur additional charges on the day pass. I was able to unlock a bike the first and second time. However, the app stopped working. Each time I scanned the barcode on a bike, it would indicate it was unlocking but after about a minute I got a message that the bike was either waiting for repair or was unavailable and to scan another bike. After trying all 5 bikes at one docking station, I walked to another station about 10 minutes away and tried all 14 bikes. Each time a message came up that the bike was unavailable. I was stuck without a bike to ride the 8 miles home.

Looking on the bright side.... Just got my 50th ride on Capital Bikeshare and couldn’t be more grateful. I’ve explored my hometown in new ways and had fun doing it! I love the app...I can plan my route and determine whether there is an available dock in advance - I can also help them move bikes if it fits my schedule too. Bonus rides await because my bike was just stolen, so I’m super grateful for my CaBi membership and awesome app.

Can’t Use on iPhone 12. I have been a long time user of CaBi and had no issues with the app.... until I moved to an iPhone 12. The main problem is that the app design is such that you cannot use the drop down menu in the upper right corner because it is behind the iPhone clock. And the options at the bottom of the page do not offer any options for using the app. So... I had to delete.... and now can’t use it with my account to search for bikes or check anything.

Perfect way to see The Capitol. My 12 year old and I were easily able to pick up bikes outside our Airbnb and had no problem finding places all around the city to dock them. The in-app navigation map was great. Made our visit to D.C. car free and so fun. On another note we found D.C. drivers very respectful of us on our bikes. After riding on the streets of Los Angeles this was such a nice surprise!

They try - to a certain extent!. I was very pleased with how the app worked. Just a few simple essential functions but they worked well. The live map was accurate and the trip mapping function worked well. Yes, not all of the bikes are perfect (fix those loose headsets!), and the docks don’t always work (which can be discouraging when you finally reach your destination and hope to ditch the bike like a hot potato and you find the only empty docks are not working), but most everything worked well enough, enough of the time for this user who was there for a few days as a tourist. And customer service was right there to take any phone calls with questions. Unless you want to try the scooters, which look like an easier and more fun way to get around, the whole BikeShare system is pretty awesome. A great alternative to taking the Metro or using a car. The 30 minute time limit is sufficient to get from one place to another if you are a tourist exploring different parts of the city.

Pricing is deceiving!. They have 3 big pictures stating their pricing. The one we used clearly said $8 per 24 hour period. What they didn’t say was that that 24 hour period only allows you unlimited rides at maximum length of 30 mins each! What they try to do is make it seem as if you get the bike for 24 hours for $8. I got a $50 charge on my card and I was like what in the world?! Then I looked up reviews online of their service and everyone is complaining about the same thing! What a sham! Your max ride time is 30 mins! After that you will be charged fees every 30 mins!

Docking Station. I parked the city bike at 4th and Rhode Island docking station to swap for another bike that I wanted. Unfortunately, the counter kept counting saying I had the bike out. So tried pulling the bike back out but it was locked in. So now I don’t either bikes because the system doesn’t show I docked. The counter is going on 24 hours that I have the bike. I sent several pics to show the address and the bike where it’s locked. I sent emails, submitted in the system my problem and have not gotten a proper response to stop the counter so I may get another bike. I’ve never had a major issue like this since I started using city bike a few months back. It’s an extreme inconvenience when you can’t reach anyone to fix the issue. As of right now the follow day. The counter is going on 24 hours that I have the bike. Sad!

Hard to navigate & not enough time!. The app needs voice navigation!! It’s extremely hard to ride the bike, hold & look at my phone for directions, & not kill myself or others while navigating a dark city. The 30 minutes docking rule is ridiculous & does not allow enough time to navigate the city in the dark when you have to look at your phone. I spent more time on phone with customer service than riding the bike because docks were always full when my 30 minutes was up. Bump the time to an hour & I might try again. Not worth the hassle.

Everything Is Broken. Tried to get three rides today. Each time experienced some issues and had to call the customer service. First time, the station not release the bike but still charged me. Second time, could not return the bike to the dock. Though I parked to a public parking ramp and it’s allowed in the area, I still got charged for the $25 parking fee. Third time, could not dock the bike back to the station again. I called right away. They asked me to park at another station, which is not working either. Guess what, I had to pay the fee again! What a scam company! Now I understand why the bikes are everywhere but people just grab the scooter and other e-bikes even this being much cheaper.

Occasionally buggy and lack of clear info. The app looks reasonably slick but if you’re a new user it can be daunting if it’s your first time. In my case, a bike was rented but it wasn’t shown in the app when you approaching a 45 minute time limit while on a day pass and you’ll start to accrue extra charges. Info isn’t clear in the app. App does a good job with map info showing you wracks and bikes available. System itself is wonky. As said before, dearth of new user help info. Racks can be troublesome. Some bikes may not be available. Oddly enough can’t use Lyft car request while having a bike out.

A Bad Start With A Happy Ending. Had a HORRIBLE experience with renting my bike and ending the trip docking it. Was a little disappointed with how difficult it was for a newcomer to try to rent a bike for only half an hour, but this entire experience was negated by one of the most superior customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Marie (I definitely want to give her a shoutout!) spoke with me on the phone and was not only patient, but went above and beyond what I expected customer service would be for a $2 bike ride around DC. I had an issue docking my bike, and she was able to talk to upper management (without me even having to ask) and calm my fears as a first time user of the service. Now that I’m aware of how the system works, I would definitely recommend renting a bike through this company in the city (especially if you want to put in the exercise and save money over Uber, scooters, and other ride share/renting services).

SCAM! I would give zero stars if possible. This service is a complete scam! My husband and I purchased two 24-pass for $14 and used the bike for a total of 4hrs, which resulted in additional charge of the $63 dollars!!! There is absolutely no way anyone can figure out the fee system and beware of going over 30 minutes even with a “24-hr Pass”. This essentially means you are required to watch the clock while trying to relax outside, checking your email for time warnings/threats of extra fees and biking only between bike docks instead of on the many beautiful bike paths. Also FYI this is a service owned by Lyft and not by the city government as originally stated on the app site when I downloaded the app. DO NOT USE!!!

The App Works Well.... ...but many CaBi bikes and docking stations could use repair or improvement. Also, bicycling is great through the core parts of DC but once you try to go too far afield (like to Children’s Hospital) the DC road conditions can turn poor quickly and make it feel imprudent for cycling.

2/27 update is terrible. The new update to the app as of 2/27 is a terrible downgrade for a number of reasons. 1. The app inexplicably lost its navigation function. I liked to use CaBi’s navigation function because it recommended safer routes for bikers than google maps. It was also helpful to figure out which stations to use. 2. The app makes you go through a Lyft-style review process every single time you ride a bike. This is extremely obnoxious and unnecessary. 3. The icons that indicate each station and how full or empty they are is difficult to read at a glance. 4. The app did not correctly load my total number of rides. For an upgrade that was announced with this much fanfare, I’m seriously disappointed and worried about the direction the entire program is heading.

Great app! Make sure to have phone charged. This app made buying the bikes and checking them in/out very simple. The only negative aspect is it drains your phone battery, so make sure your phone is fully charged or bring a charger. Overall, great app and bike rental! Highly recommend touring Washington DC with these bikes.

Great app and service for DMV locals!. I just joined Capital Bikeshare in September 2019 despite living in the area for the past 5 years, and the only thing I regret is not doing it sooner. The map interface is really intuitive and unlocking/locking a bike is really easy after getting it the first time.

30 min not enough time. We’re in Nova where the bike stations are few and far between. The idea is awesome and we’re psyched to have a dock in our neighborhood, but of our 30 min ride 15 was going out of our way to find a dock to check into. Miami had a 2 hour limit, which was wonderful and left us feeling like we weren’t rushing. Here we wanted to stop along the W&OD, but couldn’t because we needed to get to George Mason ASAP. Forget about going out towards FC. The last dock is at EFC and navigating 15 min out and then having to turn back brings you nowhere. Great in theory for downtown, but not an enjoyable experience outside of town. And honestly, who’s going to be able to commute on a 3 speed on the Custis from EFC into the city in 30 min?

Don’t use during a popular event. Customer support was no help in addressing issues with returning a bike. Tried 4 locations and all filled by the time I got there, showed availability when there was none, or were blocked off and it wasn’t reflected in the app. Dozens of other people in the same situation. Customer service was useless and provided no other options for returning the bike. Insisted that the bike had to be docked. Even when one station that showed 9 open docks but it was blocked off, they provided no alternatives. Don’t use if there’s any type of event. It will not save you any time.

Really love this service. I have had a Bikeshare subscription annually for a few years now. For me it’s an incredibly good investment for getting around in downtown DC and Alexandria. I like the fact that you can rate the rides and leave comments on the bikes. although I have run into a few skanky bikes over the years, they continue to improve, coming out with better models. And now they have the E bikes which, if you can find one and if you’re in a hurry are really good for longer rides. And economic too. I recommend the annual subscription if you ride on a regular basis. Honestly, I rarely take my car into the city any more thanks to a combination of bus, Metro and Bikeshare.

The old version was far better. I liked the old version so much better than this new one. The new one takes longer to show stations on the map, longer to show bikes available on the map, doesn’t say when it last refreshed bike availability at each station, uses station icons that no longer show full vs empty ratios, no longer allows you to find directions and which stations would be closest to your origin and destination, no longer shows any points details in your account or on each station, and many other things that make it worse. Please bring back the old app - it had been refined to perfection.

Mandatory, horrible to use. You almost have to use this app to use the bike share system but it gets more difficult to use with every update. Lyft hijacked the app and now tries to steer you to all sorts of bikes which clutters the map. An annoying pop up reminds you to park at a station with every click even as most of the bikes it shows are NOT in the station system. When you’re running out of time on your 30 minute ride and desperate to find a docking site you have to click thru the pop up and pick through a multitude of too-similar icons and then figure out how to orient the map.

Capacity issues that have only gotten worse. If you’re considering getting a Capital Bikeshare membership at the moment, please keep in mind that there are some stations that are NEVER stocked with normal bikes. I live in the Adams Morgan area, I got the subscription because I have 3 stations within a 5 min walk, and they are regularly completely out of working bikes. I have also run into a situation (going to Georgetown during the day) where all of the stations are FULL within a mile radius, and I have to park way out of my way to get where I’m going. It makes me feel like I can’t rely on the bikeshare at all. When they’re available, I appreciate the convenience of Capital bikeshare, but you all need to increase capacity (or figure out how to cycle bikes in and out of their stations better). Otherwise I’ll probably cancel and use my own bike.

Good luck if you’re under 5’ 4”. I am 5’3 and could barely reach the pedals with the seat on the lowest setting, to the point that I could not use the bike. Sure, 5’3” is on the shorter side, but I know dozens of girls in the 5’2”-3” range. Beyond that, I struggled getting the bike to release from the dock, as well as docking it when I was finished. Really like the idea of this so wish it was more suitable to people my height and docking was more efficient.

Service is Fantastic. App is Not. I give CaBi as a service 5 stars. No question. The recent app updates however are subpar. The map used to be easier to read at a glance to know if a dock had bikes. Now the color indicators are ittybitty dots and the number of bikes is also pretty small. The login screens and UI are clunky, often asking me to input the same information two or three times on different pages. You could also use the map without logging in before, not sure why they took that away.

Day Pass made for an amazing day!. We got the day pass our 4th day in DC. So easy! Unlimited rides all day. We rode to Georgetown and then parked the bikes and walked around. Got a new set of bikes and rode the bike path along the Potomac River. Parked the bikes. Had lunch. Got 2 more bikes and rode by the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials and back over toward the National mall. All the rides were included in the $8 price (for each) and there are bike stations and bike paths all over! Really fun day!

Thanks and question. Could the app give audio directions to the next place on our route? I find I’m having to go back and forth between google maps and bokeshare app to find my way. I’m an Infrequent visitor to dc so need all the help I can get. Also can you do something about all the construction and roadwork detours? 😶I love riding a bike around dc for a rock bottom reasonable price. Thanks so much for making that possible! Susy

Brilliant!. This a brilliant idea! It allowed us to cover a greater distance with ease, and the ap easily showed dock locations and availability. It was very user and tourist friendly!

Unable to ride together. Once you unlock a bike for yourself or a guest the app doesn’t show any more scan for unlock. It’s useless.

Not working. The app is not working; you should take Philly app in example

ADD EMAIL REGISTRATION. App ‘enter your number page’ kept crashing (for 3/5 in our group), and we had trouble getting the texts with non-US sims and there was no other way to register such as via email.

Biking in Washington is awesome. Much better app than Toronto. Map occasionally out of date. Be careful about going to racks that are full.

Ra100manDC. Great to get around and very easy to use

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Slow Refresh. The app has gotten really slow when refreshing since the last update. When I open the app it takes a solid 10-15 seconds before it shows the bike stations. It used to be almost instantaneous.

Borderline Scam to Trick Tourist. The $8 all-day pass is not really a pass to ride all day for only $8. You get charged extra after riding for just 30 minutes. We rode for about 3.5 hours and were charged $30 on top of the $8 “all-day pass”. Good marketing to swindle tourist that are in a hurry and not looking to read the fine print.

Needs to be improved, crashes a lot. The bike share portion of the app works fine. The public transit portion of the app is trash because it constantly resets to the bike share portion and crashes when you try to look up bus or train times. needs work but could be a great app

JPWIV. App is super convenient, easy to use and helps you find empty or loaded docks. Also great for navigating trips, I definitely recommend capital bike share!

Support public transport! An even faster way to get around than the metro. Well designed UI, simple docking/undocking, saves your preferences. App works perfectly, improvements can be made at an infrastructural level however.

This app is very good. Every problem posed by the Capital Bikeshare mobile website were fixed for this app, and then some. The bike-to-dock ratios are being updated constantly and the trip planner serves a great purpose. Highly recommend.

Excellent app. Very user friendly and reliable! Maps up to date. What about adding an optional alarm/notification for someone who is looking/waiting for a bike which rings as soon as someone else returned a bike in the area.

Rip off. By far the biggest rip off there is. Rented 4 bikes for my family on the 24 hour rental. Not realizing on the small print. You have to bring the bikes back ever 30 minutes or you get charged extra. This should be spelled out in the beginning of the app not the small print. Over $50 for a little over an hours trip. Total rip off!!!!

Scam!!! Stay away!. I was a member from about two years, but when I was planning to cancel the membership they literally said we don’t have an option of canceling at the moment and kept charging me 8$ monthly. I forgot about it but the deduction kept going for over than a year! Isn’t that theft?? There is no way on earth you can reach them for cancelation and their excuse os oh we are still building a system since we’ve been owned by Lyft!

Game changer!. My car doesn’t move from my spot because of Capital Bike Share. The app makes is easy to plan rides and check out bikes. A total game changer!

Great for an affordable way to get around DC!. The bike share is a great affordable option for getting around DC. Rainy days can hinder your 3-day pass options, so check the weather before you buy. Lots of bike locations and plenty of options to choose from.

Very frustrating and disappointing customer service. The customer services have significantly degraded since Lyft bought the company. Be careful - they may charge you a lot more than the price you see in the app and refuse to refund you. No person to speak with directly or help to escalate a case. Extremely frustrating and disappointing.

Easy and Convenient. first time visiting DC and it was all made fun by using this app. Although the stations near tourist areas are hit or miss with finding bikes or spots to park the bike, there’s usually never any problems!

Search bar needed!!. Hello! I really like the new app but I do miss the search bar. Whenever I am planning my trips it’s helpful to know if my destination has a dock nearby and whether it has any room.

Capital bike share. What a great way to get around the city. Bikes were great. Maintained well. App worked perfectly to let us know how many were at each station.

Cannot delete account or Visa card information. I can find no way to delete this account or my Visa card they keep on account… I called the support phone to try there and selected billing support and it then just hung up… I guess they now hold my Visa card information on file forever which I do not want !!!

Great and efficient app.. The app allows you to rent a bike in less than 15 seconds. Use it for my everyday commute to work. Wished there were more electric bikes available though!

Best bike share app and team ever!. Very responsive team who takes care of your concerns ASAP. I’m a regular biker (not cyclist, I wear my heels when biking) and this has been the best bike share experience so far!

So bad in DC. If the bike is unavailable or has an issue tell me when I scan, don’t say it’s unlocking. Tried like 10 bikes, all seemed fine for each till it wouldn’t unlock, and I got a “there is an issue with this bike” text a minute after each one. Get it together.

Loved my time with CaBi!. Great bike share experience. I think CaBi does a good job of working to address the complex needs of the DMV area super well. Would recommend to anyone who likes a good bike ride but can’t commit to a bike.

Horrible. Usually I don’t write a review for everything! But today I have to do that! This is a part of Lyft community! Unreasonable changes based on my account for Only use the bike 23mins! The customer service number is hard to find! My suggestion is only use in downtown area! Not a reliable source for visitors if u stay in Arlington area for ur DC trip!

Glitches. The app is constantly glitching and tech support just tells you to delete and redownload it. The number of times I’ve been late to things because none of the bikes would unlock… It’s a good idea but they really to work on their app.

On the Decline. This service is getting worse by the month. Between lag times on the app to show station, e-bikes consistently refusing to unlock despite reading available, and docking stations staying broken for weeks at a time - it’s becoming increasingly more of a headache than a convenience.

Good luck. 2 scenarios.... Because they so poorly balance the bikes you usually have two options, no bikes or when you’re lucky enough to find one, then there are no docks. They have so Much data and just don’t use it to balance their inventory. But for like $75 a year it’s hard to complain.

The logo is sus. The app works as expected but I had to explain what it was multiple times because people thought it was something to do with male reproductive parts

Filled with hidden fees, awful experience. Unexpected charges everywhere ($8 promised all day pass will include extra charges for any ride over thirty minutes for example) Expect fees to go up even more if every bike rack around you is full and you can't return your own bike app is also slow and has poor map feature

Helpful with dock/bike updates. Great to have live updates on how many docks and bikes are available and planning a trip is easy enough.

We need more bike shares. Especially in our city bike shares is way convenient in Washington DC mid city and upper plateau areas. There ought to be more than one corporate bike share with docks and corral locking because it’s economical and essential.

Love this app!. Great rental price ($85 for a year!), convenient, solid bikes, good way to explore, great way to get exercise. I especially love the bike angel section. Just completed my 50th ride in a month. Subscribe, download, use it, love it!

Awful; Not Written By Anyone Who Actually Uses the System. It’s barely useful for actually navigating the city. 1. Stations often just don’t even appear on the map until you tap, zoom, and wait a bit. 2. They removed the ability to have favorite stations which would allow you to easily see whether your common destination stations still have docks available. 3. It zooms you back to your current location all the time, making it even more impossible to keep track of whether your destination has docks or you have to divert. Come on guys. Let someone who uses the system build this and make something useful for riders. It’s not hard.

Horrible Experience. Less than 25% of the electric bikes work or will not release from the dock even when the app shows them as available at the docking station. The bikes do not always dock back at the station causing you to pay an additional fee. Almost every single one of the red manual bikes is broken in some capacity making them difficult and miserable to ride unless you are going downhill.

Docks don’t work or are full. My girlfriend and I were charged an extra $2 three times for being 1 or 2 minutes over the 30 min mark. The reason we were late was because the bike docks don’t work and won’t recognize the bike, requiring multiple attempts and about 5 mins each time just to get the things situated and to stop the timer.

Beware of the 30 minute rule!. Came to sight see in Washington DC, wanted to rent this bike real fast and get going. Saw that it was 8 dollars for the whole day. Renter it and rode around for 3 hours. After I docked it I then received a charge of $46! I do not know what is the breakdown of the cost. You need to read the fine print and rental agreement thoroughly. You can only ride these things for 30 minutes at a time...

First Time User. Gave this a shot and noticed a couple things that should be noted for other users. The locations all have kiosks so this app isn’t required. Its nice to find locations, and the active map is nice to find kiosks. I do like the pin drop that tells you if there are plenty of bikes there or not. From the app there is no way to get more than 1 bike. I had to use a different card via kiosk to obtain a different bike. Some of the locations the keypad isn’t working so I tried every bay before I found one that worked. Planning a bike trip could be better and easier to follow on map.

Great app and service. The app worked flawlessly and made our trip to DC much more enjoyable. The app made finding stations and unlocking a bike a snap. Even when I got ahold of a bike that needed some work reporting it was easy. Will definitely use the next time I’m in D.C.

Great app. Easy to use app, especially if you have a yearly membership. I love that I can on demand see where bikes and docks are available, and ebikes that might not be at the stations.

Transit view is gone. Transit info built into the app was a great way to navigate the city. It’s gone now, so I’m deducting a star. Otherwise, the app works great and I enjoy using it.

Wouldn’t ever work!. I downloaded this app a few years ago and it worked great. I was in the DC area again and made sure my payment method was updated and everything was set. But every single time I tried to rent a bike it would tell me, “You cannot take a ride at this time.” Extremely frustrating to search for and walk to the bike stations only to not have it work.

Incredibly bad experience. App doesn’t work at all and membership experience feels like a half-built on-ramp. I spent an hour trying to rent a bike, was billed three times and never got access to the bike, which was in front of me, available and seemed fine. No connection between app and kiosk experience. Literally, an embarrassment to DC

Cheaper and better than dockless. This system works remarkably well, and is remarkably affordable. The new electric assist bikes are icing on the cake. Hope there will be more soon.

Enjoyed the old app. Stuck with the old app for as long as possible but it seems they’ve disabled many features that were sticking around - can no longer check ride history, can’t see current trip time, can’t check available docks mid-trip, etc.

Bring back transit info. The app used to show helpful transit info (buses, metro), but that info disappeared about a week or two ago.

Scam !!!. These mother f charge me $500 for a missing bike someone took from me and when they were returned they refused to give me my money back ! Not only that they made me go to the police to try and file a report but the police said I couldn’t because I didn’t own the bikes In short they got their bikes back the wasted my time and stole $500 from me !

Add back favorite docks. I guess it's officially a Lyft platform now, at least it certainly looks like it. So now instead of having bikeshare specific features like favorite docks, I get this interface which is worse. Big company takes over things get worse. What else is new?

Scam. The app works fine, but the organization steels your money… any time you park the bike it costs 25 dollars. If you buy the day pass it doesn’t work after your first trip. I took a less than two mile ride and it cost me almost $100!!! Very unhappy right now.

Dc on $8 a day!. Ubiquitous bikes and stations and when my wife had an issue got a nice cust serv person to fix it. But finding the number is hard- suggest you have it on u just in case. Got to see cherry blossoms on the power of our own 2 legs!!

Great for traveling throughout DC!. I love Capital BikeShare for traveling throughout the area, part of my goal use a car as little as possible. I highly recommend this convenient and easy to use way to navigate the District.

Requires location permission for no reason. You need to enable location permission in order to unlock a bike. Even if you’ve found the bike on your own. The only explanation that the app gives is that this “improves your experience”. Just one more contribution to constant surveillance.
