Unfogged my life!!!!. My absolute favorite app that has ever been made I’m high key obsessed. It encourages me to get out and explore the world and let’s me relive all my past adventures. I only wish I had this when I was younger, but I’m using this from here on out for the rest of my life. It also syncs on iCloud so switching your phone won’t lose all your data. Basically this app changed my life and I can’t wait to unfog the rest of the world!!

Great idea for an app!. This is one of my favorite apps. I love being able to see and record everywhere I go, and the achievements and levels are a lot of fun. I would have given five stars, but I think the app’s development has been a little slow. There are a lot of improvements and features (like the option to mark locations on the map) that would be nice to have, but the app doesn’t get updated a lot. Still, I wouldn’t give it up for the world and haven’t found anything else that does what this app does. I highly recommend this app for those on the go, both locally and internationally!

Can't open the app anymore after iOS 13. It happened after I had updated to iOS 13. First the app just quit sometimes (quite more often than before) and after several days every time I opened the app I saw the starting image for 1 sec and then my phone went back to home screen. Please fix this problem! I'm in my level 300+ and don't want to lose all my records. Already tried restarting my phone, didn't work. Also tried reinstalling the app, but when I synced my data from iCloud it crashed again.

Enjoyable but far from perfect. Would like more informative update notes. I’m glad it’s been updated to support iOS 11, but what specifically changed? Will it finally be more battery efficient? Constantly using GPS is certainly going to be intensive, but other apps (Moves, for example) gather the same data but use less battery.

Excellent App. I’ve had this app for about 8 years and it is still one of my favorites. It’s excellent for traveling, hiking, skiing, or any exploring type activity. I think it’s probably impossible to get lost while using this app. The urge to de-fog more and discover new places hasn’t faded over the years. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like this app. I highly recommend it.

Obsessed… BUT. I have never enjoyed, loved, used, looked at, or played with an app more than this one!! I am so freaking obsessed with this app it’s not even funny. I constantly check to to make sure I’m going down new roads!! But can we please please please please please get an in app “erase” option??? Sometimes my GPS glitches and I’ll have random dots in places I haven’t been or it’ll think I’m going down a road until it relocates me and puts me back on the right path. I’d love to be able to clean up little glitches!!!

Love it. I love this app. The only issues for me are things like tunnels etc with poor reception don’t get filled and I get it but then it’s difficult to go back and fill it in or fill in places you have been before you got the app. I’ve had this app for 5 years and I still haven’t figured it out.

Don’t waste your money like I did.. Seriously the amount of times this thing just doesn’t track your movements it’s ridiculous. I have everything set up in setting to run in the background so I don’t have to open the appAnd unless you plan on recalibrating it every single time you move it won’t map your movements. $30 for an app on a phone and it better work perfect and this thing isn’t even close. Huge SCAM. I travel a lot for work and thought this was going to be awesome. You’re better off just getting one of the free app or pay for pin traveler. This thing is worth $1 maybe $2 at the most. Even when you leave the app running in the background you will still have to physically go into the app every time you stop moving and start again.

Love this app, but needs updating. This is a fun app - interesting to see how little of the world you travel in. I’ve been using it for over 5 years, and it’s fun seeing all the places I’ve been when I’ve traveled. Was updated irregularly for a while, but now receives regular updates. Highly recommended.

Changes the way you explore the world!. In short, this is a game where the only way to earn points is to go places you haven't been before. If that sounds like fun to you, you'll love it. It’s a great way to remember your explorations. I frequently find myself showing friends new or interesting places I’ve been using the app. Many of my friends now have the app too and we screenshot each other our explorations. We describe the app as giving us “brain worms” in a great way because we enjoy it so much!

Area Explored got Reset. I have used this app several years now and have really enjoyed it, but the recent update reset my distance and level back to 0. I can still see where I’ve been, but it doesn’t register in my total area exploded. It’s only counting where I’ve been since the update. I was level 250 a week ago and now only single digits. Tried importing old data, but with no luck.

Horrible! Lost 46 levels and thousands of miles. Very disappointed! A big chunk of the San Francisco (where I live) has been literally sliced off of all previous tracks. And now it's not even tracking where I'm going. I tried to change the settings, no luck. Where's the support or help?

Love this app. Been using this app daily for about 5 years now for all of my travels as well as daily outings. I treat it like a game and use it to challenge myself to walk down a road I’ve never been on, travel to a different part of a city that I may not have thought of before, or find my way back from a hike. The amazing part is you feel like you’ve already seen so much but when you look at the world percentage that you’ve actually visited or the countries that you haven’t been to you realize there’s so much more to see. In the beginning it really sucked the life out of your battery but the latest version seems to not be so bad. If you enjoy traveling and seeing new areas get this.

Super Fun! But a few suggestions. This app is super fun! I love seeing my progress and it forces me to take different roads and explore my own backyard more. It would be good if there were more badges that were country specific. Living in the US it would be fun to unlock badges by visiting more states or national parks. Also, I think there should be an option to make your track a bit thicker than the “thick” option.

Frustrating. I’ve had this for over a year and it consistently freezes up and quits, most frustrating. Just returned from a trip up the east coast and guess what? Diddly squat despite heeding the messages that it has stopped and my relaunching it. I have dots and lines cleared. I was hoping to clear a lot of the US on a near future drive across the country but looks like I’ll be looking for something else. My daughter’s roommate has had the same problem while my daughter has not. Is it my phone?!

Love this app. Been using it for years and love being able to see the places I’ve been. It helps me remember my travels when I look back over my maps. I have had one small issue with the import function however. I saved the data as .gpx files and put it in the correct google drive folder and was able to successfully import it into the program (the little green checkboxes appear), but the amount of the world that I have travelled hasn’t changed and the cleared “lines” haven’t been added to the fog either. I checked the .gpx file on a separate .gpx viewer and it seemed to work perfectly so I think the file is fine. Sorry for posting this here, I didn’t see a link to email app support.

Like video game fog in open world games. Love this app. Reminds me of video game fog and when you go somewhere new the place is unknown. You fill in the blanks as you go. The app hardly crashes, if I leave it open for a couple of days it will I imagine it’s handled too many Resource or some various reason. Anyways love this app and have been using it for about 6 years now. Currently in the level 180 range and have been to multiple states with it. Can’t fly commercially with, trust me I’ve tried, even with the WiFi on them. Just a tip to save your phones battery life. Also, I almost always you is in battery saver mode. It’s pretty accurate at this state and the app doesn’t become a little vampire during the day.

Fantastic app, exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been using fog of world for only a few months now but it’s a big part of my day. Uncovering the map is addicting and makes me want to explore my surroundings. The algorithm used to smooth and connect the data works wonderfully. The price is a no brainer for the feature set and privacy focused experience.

Welcome back with the new update!. I loved the app so much, I continued to use the old version despite all its flaws. But the 2.0 has finally been released – and I can't be happier! The app has gotten cleaner, nicer, and drains less battery than it used to. I like the new passport view, it makes a nice summary of all countries I've visited. Hope this app lives a long life.

What a adventurous task. I’ve owned this app for about 5 years and have not been disappointed, especially with the latest version. I’m at level 197 but look to the challenges like visit Antarctica, and explore 1% of the world. Worth the price if you are more of a interactive person with the world around you but passive in your gaming.

Pretty darn rad. This app is pretty cool. It lets you know where you travel, I think it's interesting just to see what roads I DON'T drive on. It shows what parts of town i go through, and where i avoid. I think $5 is a bit much, but I bought it anyway because whatever, someone gave me a credit card.

Just wish it would open at startup. Or at least give users the option to set it up that way. I know that Apple is tracking my every movement at all times anyway, so I might as well be able to decide to get the achievements for driving near landmarks even if I’ve forgotten to load the app, or I’m too busy, or whatever. Other than that, though, this app keeps it simple and nails almost everything else it sets out to accomplish. And at least when it does crash, it sends a push notification to the user to let us know, which is apparently too much to expect from its competitors.

Compatible problem. This update is awesome! Thank you all firstly! But I have a compatible problem. My device is iPad mini 2 and software version is iOS 9.3.5. When I want to download this app from my iCloud cause my iPhone has downloaded it, it indicates this app isn't compatible with my device. I don't understand what's going on.

Great adventuring. As many have mentioned previously, there’s something so satisfying with driving down a new road or exploring a new park or landmark. I’ve used this app since 2013 and have enjoyed it very much. The only downside is that I wish that you could still see other’s levels on each continent compared to yours. Will this feature ever return?

Great App. I love the app. Except for the fact that it always asks me to download my old data to the phone. Maybe I dont know how to properly use it, but it is annoying because it takes for ever to download it. Once it finishes, it works great, I love to see all the places I have been to.

Great but missing a few key features. I have been waiting for something like this for years. Excellent app. What’s missing: ability to export, so I could view/edit the content in google maps or elsewhere; ability to edit, so I could view with and without my road trips and flights, etc. Or manually distinguish or auto-detect car, plane etc so that those can be viewed as separate maps, to separate places I’ve “really been” from those I’ve driven through or flown over. Or ability to manually draw places I know I’ve been. You may think that cheats the gamification, but remember, this is just for me - and it’s missing everywhere I went before 2018! And I’d like to fix that if I can.

Fun exploration app that makes travel a game. Been a user since release (4-5 years), and I always use this app whenever I travel. It is addictive! A fun way to see where you've traveled. The 2.0 release is amazing, somehow made it better and use less battery! Must download.

Great idea, poor execution. I downloaded this app because it sounded like an interesting concept, and it is. However, paying $25 for an app with zero documentation, no way to export your own data, and basically one singular feature and nothing else…it’s basically highway robbery. I would gladly pay $25 for an app that I could actually export my data, these developers clearly don’t want you to be able to do that however.

Will change your life. The amount of hikes, adventures, and travels I’ve gone on because of this app is astounding. It makes exploring that new place just that much more fun. Also an added bonus is that it acts like breadcrumbs if you ever want to do that cool hike again and retrace your steps.

Fun travel app and amazing service. I travel a lot and use the app everywhere I go. It’s a lot of fun to keep track of all the countries I’ve been to. Best of all, the customer service is amazing. I had some trouble with syncing my old iOS to Dropbox. Emailed for support and they manually updated all my files and converted them to the new format so my tracks weren’t lost. Very satisfied with everything.

Google Drive functionality does not work. App claims that you can sync data and import to/from google drive, but after breaking my phone, losing the app, and trying to import data from Google Drive on a new phone, nothing is working. The import screen says to import GPX files from google drive, but when you sync up with google drive from the app, it’s not GPX files but these weird, unlabeled txt files. Perhaps I’m doing something wrong, but it seems ridiculous that the files synced from the app to Drive are not able to be imported back into the app.

Gets stuck, crashes and drains battery. Gets stuck in background. v2.5.2 did not fix the issue. It still gets stuck when going to the foreground or opening. It ends up crashing. Battery draining. I used to have the app with location always enabled. No issues. After the last several updates, the app drains my battery. Checking the hourly battery consumption at night, it is the only app that consumes enough not to be negligible: around 7% per hour, in flight mode and no apps in background. That is with a new iPhone 12 Pro, last version of iOS and battery health at 100%. Changed to location only when in use. That helps but, of course, only records whn on the foreground. It was 5 star app for me before all this

Best app I’ve had in a long time. I usually don’t write reviews but I love this app so much! I’ve been using it for years now and it has gone from a fun game for me to unlock areas to much more than that. I still enjoy it as a game but also use it to navigate roads I don’t use much.

Great app that could some new features. This app has been around for years (I’ve been using it since 2017,) and the fact that it still works on modern OSes and models is a minor miracle and justifies it’s relatively high price tag. This app is great—it inspires me to go down streets I’ve never been in my hometown, travel via new methods, and when visiting a new place, helps me stay pleasantly lost, rather than hopelessly so. That said, its feature set hasn’t really changed in all those years, and given that this app is now a decade old, I think some new features would be warranted. Chiefly, I think there needs to be some “re-fog” option (say, at 5-10 years, or even an adjustable setting with the time frame of your choice) so you can see where you have been at one time, but not recently. Cities especially are constantly changing and I don’t think an area should always indefinitely look like it’s been explored—I don’t really want to impact my explored stats, mind you, but I do want to see where I haven’t been in a while (maybe implement it as an optional layer or onion-skinning feature, or a heat map view—the competing app World Uncovered has a feature to show how often you visit places, so that might be another way of doing it, although if you mostly track for new spots it would be of limited utility versus a fading mechanism.)

Terrible Update - DATA IMPORT FLAWED. Long-time user - latest update doesn't import all of my data - LOST 56 levels (now only level 240) LOST THOUSANDS of miles - for hundreds of miles around where I live. PLUS, the developer removed all communication paths. No longer part of the app & App Store link is dead. Prefer no updates to this bad update. Terribly disappointed.

App stopped working. I paid $5 for this app less than a week ago and it has already stopped working. I have checked all of my settings, both in-app and my general phone settings to make sure location services are on and to allow the app to always access my location. I have also not been able to get it to sync with my past history. There is absolutely nowhere you can go to contact the company to try and troubleshoot problems. No sort of contact through the app or their website. Very frustrating. Love the concept but poor execution.

Great, but proprietary…. My thoughts after using Fog of World for 12 years: (these are supposed to be bulleted lists, sorry if Apple messes up the formatting) Pros - Good at what it does - Offers backup options (caveat below) - Looks good - Encourages me to explore and take alternate routes - Beyond the cool/fun factor, I *frequently* make use of this app to see where I’ve been for practical reasons! - I’ve looked and found no other app that accomplishes the same thing even half as well Cons - Price tag is more than most iOS apps - Data is locked in a proprietary format and cannot be extracted! If this app ever gets abandoned and breaks on newer devices, there is no way to rescue your data - Battery usage is noticeable (but fairly well optimized) Overall, I highly recommend getting and using an app like this! I wouldn’t necessarily recommend *this* one, but I’m not aware of any others that are even slightly competent.

New version a huge step backwards. After installing the update and converting my old data I've found that the app no longer behaves itself with respect to location services. It used to not leave the GPS on when in the background & not recording -- now the GPS is always on when the app is running regardless of recording state so I've had to resort to hard killing it to preserve battery on my phone. Sometimes even this doesn't work correctly & I have to re-launch & kill it again to get the GPS to turn off. I've also found that the new version takes a lot longer to start than it used to (from 1 sec up to 7 sec) making it hard to quickly turn on/off. Please update to fix!

Good but needs more features. I really think fog of world should add a social aspect to the app, so I can see what level friends my friends are at and a widget feature would also be cool to have. Overall not worth 30 bucks because of the lack of features but still a really fun and great app.

YASSSS. I've had this app for years! And finally a new update has come! This update is so much better and it's definitely much cleaner and faster. I really really hope this app never goes away! It has all of my trips recorded on it and I love showing people. Please continue to update this app! Maybe providing info on what the rendering of the fog means (like heavy or thin). Thanks Ollix!

Critical features still not released. No ability to erase tracks inevitably results in sloppy and ugly spotty flight tracks and random lines from times with poor GPS reception. This feature has been promised but remains unreleased years later. App is otherwise fun and fairly user friendly, but until tracks can be manually erased and edited I would say this isn’t worth the money.

I Love Fog of World!. I’ve been using it for several years now and I do quite a bit of traveling around the US. I truly love being able to look back at my tracks that I’ve left. I’ve even been slowly adding stuff that was prior to the release of the first version of the app! I hope Fog of World is maintained for a great many years in the future. Thanks!

Great in the past, crashes now & lost my data!. I was turned on to this app in 2018 by a friend, & it was really cool to see my progression through all the roads & neighborhoods I had been to. The app was great up until a recent major overhaul of the interface. It is now confusing to use, & even after the most recent update I kept having to rebuild the database as it crashed, which lost a large chunk of my last adventure each time. Now it lost everything today, & 5 years of data is gone just like that. Not happy at all with how downhill it’s gone.

App updated! Finally! Ty ty ty ty!!!!. I called my brother about it today now that it's finally supposedly not a battery drain hog if you choose the right option. I've always loved this app but it's been very disappointing that with the money ppl have spent that it wasn't updated for around two years. Thank you for the update!! It doesn't mess with my iPhone navigation anymore if I have this and any other navigation app open at the same time. It used to delay the navigation by 15 secs or so which can make a big difference in cities.

Wish I had purchased 200,000 miles sooner but could be better.. While the app is fundamentally great and I don’t regret purchasing it I feel a couple basic things could be done to improve it significantly to stir up more interest and promote more use from those who already own it. 1. Heat map. Instead of just clearing fog it’d be nice if the app incentivized using it when you know you won’t be traveling on new roads by changing the color of roads dependent on how many times you have traced over the same line. This would show the places that were most important to you throughout your time using this app. 2. It’d be nice if larger countries such as the US were divided into states. The passport isn’t very interesting to look into for people who generally stay within the US but may visit several states a week simply because there’s only one number to look at and the discovered percentage is so low due to the size of the US that it’s nearly impossible to appreciate even after hundreds of thousands of miles logged. 3. An ability to erase lines drawn in error due to faulty gps signals.

Best app ever. I've had this app for approx 6 years - unfortunately long after my most active travel years. But even then I have been able to upload GPS files to unfog places I have tracked myself (ie runs). This app encourages me to see places I never would have gone out of my way to see (random side streets) otherwise. In doing so I have discovered so many places I might not otherwise discover! The only "down side" to this app is it can very quickly turn a short trip / run to the store into an all day adventure when you realize there's a street 10 min out of the way you haven't gotten 😂 Highly recommend for any adventurer

Sad.. I travel to at least four destinations world wide, and domestically, miles. This app simply is meant for people who are on vacation. It cannot keep up with the pace. I have been to Asia, the USA, in a couple of states, and three countries in Europe, all that in twenty days. However, this app has only recorded one city in Asia, one in Europe and does not even show the USA and I live there. This app needs a lot of improvement. I was glad to eventually keep track of my travel, I guess not, log books are still better than electronics. Sad but true.

Obsessed. I have been obsessed with this app for years. It is a fun way to motivate me to try new places and has lots of additional value. It is a great way to track vacations and remember road trips in more detail. Recently reached level 250 and hope to reach 1% of the world one day!

Great app and great support. My wife and I have Fog of World and really enjoy it. GPS directions tell you where you are going. Fog of World tells you where you’ve been so that you can retrace your trip and memories. In addition, when I had a problem with the app the customer service was outstanding! Thank you Team Ollix.

Not recording after iOS13 upgrade!. After I upgraded my iPhone to iOS13, the software stopped recording. I’ve waited for an update which can fix this bug for almost a week but there’s nothing released to fix this. I’m your user since 2015 at that time your software was only $1.29! Now you have more than ten times money but why you guys still fixing bugs so slow?

One of the best apps I have used. I have had Fog for over seven years and love it. Apart from the general interest of where I have been it has been invaluable while travelling. When walking around unknown towns it is so easy to see where we have come from and to work out how to get back to our starting point.

Need a watch version. Great app. Battery use was a problem in the past but with my 6s it isn't a problem. **2021 update** Still love and use the app. My only complaint is that I’m finding myself more and more exploring with only my watch and leaving the phone at home. A watch version of the app would be fantastic!”

LOVE THIS!!. This App is Awesome! I leave my location services on and take my phone everywhere I go and it records it! I love seeing everywhere I have traveled! I do wish though there was a way to put in past places I have travelled as I have travel a lot of places including out of my home country! Please put this setting in the next update!! Highly recommend this app!

Strangely compelling. I find myself deliberating taking new routes so as to clear a new path in the 'fog'. You want to be careful of the distraction it poses. Using the app while driving is obviously a bad idea but hard to avoid!

Amazing. Edit: iOS13 stops recording every time I close the app. Has really made the app useless for my use. “Always Allow” location data does nothing. Original: (iOS12 and under) Love the always recording mode, but I’d like a little more “persistent recording” as a few times I’ve opened the app after leaving somewhere new and discovered I haven’t been recording the trip there. Causes me to create a reminder in my phone to launch FoW every time I get in my car just in case. This may just be an iPhone limitation. Really enjoy seeing all the tracks I’ve driven after a weekend 4wding, and I enjoy “clearing the map” as I discover new paths I’ve never travelled. Nearing level 110, which I think is a really nifty way of comparing exploration between friends.

Previous travels. This app is a really great concept, but I wish there was a way to add previous travels. I've travel quite a bit, and to a lot of places I probably won't go again, and I'd love to add them. Even if travels people added themselves go only towards their own stats and not the Game Centre ones? That's my only disappointment, but it's a big one. If I could do that this app would get 5 stars!

Great app!. I wish it would show your current direction and that you could rotate the map. Those two features would make it easier to find and pass through sections of fog in areas you are trying to clear (I know I’m not the only one who tries to clear entire neighbourhoods)

Upgrade fail. Classic case of update failure. App was simple and easy to use. Now no longer user friendly and on top no longer supporting certain phones like the 5c. Perfect proof that not all upgrades are better...

Can u fix it. Everything works well but one, I need to keep the app OPEN AT ALL TIMES to get the route recorded. I find it really stupid, especially for a paid app. Really disappointed. unworth of the price. (I already set it to always allow the app to use my location)

Works well. I’ve been using this app for a few years now to track my travels, and love it. No issues to report.

great appa. i sort of like this apps to encourage me to walk out my place It would b nice if u include a bit more mission in visiting some famous icon of a country instead of a brief visit of a state or just the area of a place. Nice work.

Excellent App however may crash. This app is an excellent idea and works quite well. However I find the app crashing frequently for me (iPhone 6). Otherwise perfect performance.

Cuts out so often. I love this app but there are so many glitches, so many times it will fail to record once I leave the app and it’s grows really weak in bad signal

Always crashes. No app support. The app is unreliable. I get notifications daily about it unexpectedly closing. It never records anything because of it always crashing. So I have to actively open before I go anyway. Not worth it. And there’s no contact for app support as far as I could see. I wish I could request a refund. It’s a fantastic idea of an app but the app doesn’t function properly. I recommend not getting it.

What happened?. I’ve had Fog of World for years and absolutely loved it. Wish I had had it for earlier travels. There where some big changes with the last update and I didn’t have a chance to have a good look at it, because two days later my Fog of World screen just went grey. No menus, no maps, no anything. Can anyone please help me with this?

Love it. It's fun to see where you've been. I know it's tracking you, but it you have nothing to hide, no harm. Can be turned off. Even in remotish areas, it tracks well!

Great app, fantastic style. Shame the concept (always tracking your location) is inherently bad for your battery. Still doesn't stope from using it.

Lost a few badges. Latest update says improve how badge are completed, but I lost a few that I've achieved before.

Fantastic app with a whole lot more potential.. To begin with the price. I truely believe it’s worth the $15 AUD, however, I’m sure that price is a deterrent for many people. You may end up making more money by lowering the price to around $10 AUD. A feature I would really like to see is an option to “watch” where you have gone. Press play and the map traces over every where you have traveled in order. That would make this app absolutely phenomenal.

Very awesome. This app is awesome! It makes me want to get out and go places! It's like a real life game. I'm even more excited because I'm soon to go overseas! But I'm a little concerned about wracking up international fees.

A fun visualization of your movements. It's actually kind of depressing just how little of the world I see.

Really good. I really like this app, it makes me want to travel heaps and explore my home city more. I just wish it could track where you've been even when closed so it doesn't use up the battery life. That's probably the biggest let down, it can easily use 20% within an hour even when in the background and your not using your phone.

I have been using FOTW for about 3 years now and it’s by far my most used application. There was a dark time where no updates seemed certain and the battery usage just got worse and worse. Don’t be fooled, this app isn’t all of a sudden battery efficient, but it is far more friendly. Looking forward to many more years of this app!

Life enhancing!. It might be very simple, and it mightn't really do much, but, any app that encourages you to get out of your phone rather than deeper into it is a good app in my opinion. I've seen some awesome places I never would have if I wasn't trying to clear a different route. I also find it a great graphical aid when explaining trips and routes to others. Many members of my extended family have this app now, and although we don't allow mobile phones at the dinner table, we do allow the comparing of cleared fog. I have no issue with the fact that you can't clear locations from the past either, and in my opinion anyone who does is just a whiner. Enjoy it for what it is, and get out there and clear whatever you can manage. I used to be an interstate truck driver here in Australia, and I'd almost have the eastern states cleared if this app was around back then, but it wasn't, so I guess I'll just have to find the time to return or just get on with clearing where I travel from the present. Five stars. :)

Best $23 ever. Ok so hear me out. This app is cool. Better than all the ripoffs. The imitators never quite beat the real app. This app is a good app. End rant.

Good app. Really good app! The only complaint I have is the battery power. If the creators could do something to fix that, it'd be amazing!

Been going 100 years.. Still not at 1%

Nice idea, needs retrospective entry feature. I'm traveling around Western Australia, (an area as big as Europe, or about a third of the USA mainland). However for most of it you get no Internet access...there is no phone coverage anywhere here. I'm disappointed that I can't fill in the substantial gaps this app doesn't fill. If I could just draw on the map all the roads I've been on, it would be about 10 times more accurate than what it is recording of my trip. Also, the fact that I've only just gotten this app but can't add all the places I've already been around the world, and which I'm not likely to revisit, is disappointing. I understand this app is set up to log locations to win challenges - I don't care about the challenges, I'm going to look for an app that does what yours does but allows me to add locations retrospectively.

Awesome App. I love being able to track my travels around the countryside but I would also like to be able to add past journeys (not for the medals but for personal interest). Highly recommended.

Great idea, bad execution!. A novel app, but the trophies are horribly thought out, the levels are too high (500?) and the regional trophies are a jip for Australians who have to fly overseas to NZ rather than explore X kms like other countries or walk across a border into three new countries as in the case of Europe. I just don't think the creators of this were really paying attention when drafting the trophies. The fact there are several game breaking bugs (besides randomly leading you astray, exhausting your battery in an hour or two, and being poorly designed) makes me think the developer wasn't paying much attention to customer feedback. .__.

Interesting game. An interesting game that allows you to think about the world and your path through it in a new way… encourages a player to explore their environment and the world. Although it can reduce the battery life substantially it also does not require much effort to play… just remember to “back up” - I forgot and because of that “lost” a huge amount of distance in a different country. However, this also gave me the opportunity to look at the idea of permanence and how my journey leaves (or does not leave) marks on the environment and the people I meet along the way.

Since iPhone 4, awesome.. Great app and I have been using it since iPhone 4. Works in Aeroplane mode if you want to conserve battery. Ever since iOS 9/10 it asks me every single time if I want to import data from the old version. I have done this twice and it keeps asking so I tell it later now. Is this a bug for just me?

Fog of world. Great app and a great idea. Makes travelling anywhere more entertaining than it is. A little bit overpriced for what it is, but despite this it is still worth it

Love it. I really love this app, although I do wish we could erase some tracks as some are a little inaccurate.

Doesn't save when deleted. In love this app but I had to delete it. When I got it back I lost all of my 70 levels!!! Can you make an update plzz so it saves!!

Constant crashes. Love the app but has been crashing consistently in the background and notifying my every few minutes

Thoughts. Awesome idea. Having fun with this so far! It does chew up a bit of battery life, but you can turn recording on and off with the push of a button which I like. Just remembering to turn it back on is a problem :P The Cost - expensive. But I guess that's just so you can recoup the money it took to develop this. Hopefully you can eventually bring the price down to a dollar or two. I'd like to see an update for the iPhone 5's 4" screen at some stage. Also at the moment there seems to be an issue with Game Center integration as I can't see any scores etc. other than my own. Again, great idea, and I can't wait for future updates :)

Cool app, but crashes a lot. App works good when it wants. Crashes, then doesn't want to re-start then does, app needs to be worked on for some reliability.

Great for years of tracking. Would like to see dev, correct an issue if the app “stops recording”, for background use. Also unable to get multiple iOS to use a common file for accumulated miles (using Dropbox, or other cloud folders). Now have three separate folders. Newest is Sync Glad though I chose this app. No ads, no emails, no online account, no subscription.

Problem. Hi, I purchased this app and love it so much!!! For the first week it runs perfectly. But these days it stopping recording my tracks. I tried to delete the app and downloaded again; released the space of my phone and iCloud; turned on/off data& location... but didn't work. I can see the blue dot on the map as my location, but the fog doesn't disappear. Can someone answer my concerns/solve this problem? I'll keep updating this amazing app!!!

Doesn’t work. Sadly, have had it installed for months, and it hasn’t tracked any movement at all. Latest iOS. I made sure to have location services set to ‘always’ as well. Deleted. Too bad - it was a fun idea.

Fun to use. I love using the app, but I remove one star because there is poor support for the iPad app. Currently, you cannot use the iPad app in landscape mode.

Best App you’ll have on your phone!. I’ve been using this app for over 3 years and I ABSOLUTELY love it. I travel (backpack) a lot and this app is a dream. It rarely crashes and it’s very easy to use. Feedback to the developer: it would be great if you can improve Passport and the Countries Visited aspect of the app. And maybe even include a social media or friends list too!

Contionous stops recording. I love this app, but since last update, it constantly stops recording. The app alerts me to the problem but it is quite frustrating. Please fix

Love it. Great motivation to travel

So much fun!. This app has made me go and explore places I would otherwise never have seen. I've started clearing all the 'fog' around where I live, and getting in good exercise at the same time. Each day I have to travel further to find new fog, so that ramps up my exercise gradually too! My map looks like one of those old "Etch-a-sketch" toys :) Used it recently on a trip to Germany, and it is interesting to look back on all the twist and turns (and wrong turns!) we took while there. One slight complaint with this version over the last… when you zoom out on the map the lines get too thin to see. On the old version the lines got thicker as you zoomed out and it was always easy to see your tracks. Overall though, I love the app and the improvements made with this last version have really improved things.

Amazing. Everyone comparing about "oh my data usage" and "you can't manually add places you've been" need to just go away. This app is amazing. A little pricy I won't lie but if you travel a lot it is very fun, and slightly addicting. It made me want to drive all around town just to unlock the map.

Makes you want to go explore. I love this app! It gives me the incentive to take new paths, try new routes, and to go out and explore streets and locations I've never been.

Great but at point where there’s tons of room to grow. It’s been a great app for awhile but it largely remained exactly the same thing at the core and could use some features. ie. being able to erase paths and tracks, some sort of time machine like feature to be able to see what map looked like weeks/months/years ago and see the progression

Terrible. Impractical.. In order for this to work you need to have your location on all the time. Also, if you visited places before you cannot 'remove the fog' because your location does not say you are currently there. Terrible to track where you have already seen the world.

Crashes 73 times a day. It’s actually exactly what I wanted, is really helpful to show my family where I’ve been when I go out of town for work

How to log GPS and avoid roaming charges. Update post-iOS 9: Seems to need overhaul as Location Services is lagging when this app is open, resulting in dotted defogging when on the highway. Option 1: Buy a local simcard. You will easily get the money back through savings on public transit and well-rated places you wouldn't have found through sitting on wifi at your hotel. Option 2: When recording, keep Airplane Mode 'off' and Cellular Data 'off'. GPS will still work. Update map cache whenever you are on wifi.

A lifelong app. What other app can be used to track your own history? It’s wonderful. One desired improvement: allow manual tracks to be drawn in the app itself.

Not much use unless you travel a lot. You need to import a gps map to log anything. It would be a lot better if you could check off the places you've been.

Stopped recording all together. Was happy to pay the $20 for the app just to see where I’ve been and use it to take new paths home from work. Was even cool to see where on the ocean I’ve been fishing. Until a few months in and it stopped recording.nothing I’ve tried is fixing it. It would get 5 stars otherwise.

Very cool app. At first, I would like to say that this app is so cool. Make sure you open the GPS and data before you open this app. The world is full of fog and you need to explore in yourself. Nice app if you like traveling :). P.S I found that toucan open the wifi to improve your GPS positioning :)). Second is that this app is make by Taiwanese. Really proud to born in Taiwan and live in Canada

Worth every Penny. I’ve had this app for quite some years now and I still love it. It’s perfect for showing your friends exactly the routes you travelled to different places and great for recalling where those dead end roads with crazy great views are. App is kept up-to-date and that’s much appreciated unlike other mapping applications.

Not sure. We don't use our data or cell when traveling out of the country as it is too expensive, so this app only works in the hotels and restaurants that have wifi. It would be nice to be able to add places we have been in the USA, and Europe

Great app. It's a great app but I think it kills battery. I just don't know if it does. I've had it for a while and it seems that since I have downloaded it , my battery has decreased faster then normal. If it could use limited battery then it would be a 10/10. Also it hasn't been working lately. I've had it on for a week and I was on cellular and wifi and it didn't pick up a thing.

Best Location Tracking Game on the App Store!. Love this app, I can show people where I’ve travelled. Recall those hidden spots you discovered that one day you were hiking on vacation or remember that little store you stopped in while driving around the highways of southern Ontario.

Amazing App. This app is very fun and super addicting, now whenever I'm going some where i look forward to the points ill get on this app. The only gripe i have is that when your not on the app it sometimes stops recording. It also drains the battery a lot.

Decent. Pretty good app, but user interface could be better and there should also be a setting to only let the app use your location when in use, the app has used up 60% of my battery in the past day and i havent used it once

Interesting way to document your trips. This app has been a great way of looking at how much I've explored various cities and in some ways shows how very little I actually see in some places. Battery will take a hit though.

Crashing and issues. It would be nice if you could check off the places you have been. It crashes alot on the ipod 5th gen. Its a great idea though

Gamify everyday life in a good way. I love Fog of World because it encourages me to explore what's around me. I'm also very happy that it uses the "gamify everyday life" design toolbox for good(i.e. self-improvement), not for evil (e.g. advertising). It is 100% worth the money and the five-star rating.

Needs "While Using" location option. Glad this app was finally updated, but would like a "While Using" option to only use the GPS while the app is in the foreground.

Best app for your life. I’ve used this for more than 6 years and I love it. I travel a lot with friends and family and we are always competing who gets the high level and where they’ve been. It’s a really fun app.

Good, but have several problems. 1. Complains that Sync folder not found 2. Unable to track high speed rail, airplane 3. This I cant understand, a slow moving river boat cruise was not captured. I'm using a similar app at the same time, and it's able to capturre alot more, including the 350km/h high speed rail

When can I erase the track the map accidentally recorded?. Sometimes the app records some bad data. I want to erase those.

Needs watch app. Love it so fun but really needs an Apple Watch version so can track your unfogging without always needing phone if you can have it (runs, bike, sailing, etc)

Life saving app. I would say it’s a life saving app. I’ve lost once in a foreign country at evening. And get into a village then into woods. And it start raining. I was lost, and was in a maze. Luckily, I turned on the app. And then trailing that I get out of that maze.

User Since 2015 - Buggy Now. Love this app. I use it all the time. Level 244. This latest update has made the app very buggy. It crashes frequently, both in the background and when switching back to it from another app. The UI is also a downgrade from the V2 UI. I would just prefer a revert to the legacy V2 interface until these bugs are fixed.

Stop the gps frequently. I have used the app for over 1 month, but the gps stoped so frequently that some of the places were not tracked at all. Its frustrating and annoying that I have to check my phone to see if the gps is working properly every 10 minutes.

Lost tons of data. Upgraded my phone and now I lost over 150 levels and multiple vacations now gone.

High Battery Drain. I love Fog of World and have been using it since 2015. But the current version is consuming an unacceptable amount of my phone’s battery. In the past 24 hours, iOS reports that Fog of World is the biggest consumer of power on my phone, totaling +35% of the total battery usage using background location services. iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS 17.3

New interface is very untidy. Been using FotW for about 10-ish years. It remains as functional as ever but the new UI, specifically the badges, is poorly designed. The previous UI very clearly showed your progress toward unlocking a badge without tapping on each individual one. Now, as far as I can tell, there is no indicator of progress for the badges. Additionally, both earned and unearned badges are displayed together making it impossible to tell which ones you actually have. As far as I’m concerned, removing the badges altogether would have been less frustrating than the awful replacement they now have. Returning the badges to a better state would get a better review from me.

Crashes constantly. I’m trying to figure out why if we are paying for an app can’t we fix the issues at hand. I’m a truck driver and use the app to keep track of all the places I’ve been, however with the app crashing constantly, that’s very hard to do. Just sitting still in the past 30 mins the app has already crashed 4 times.

No option to export. Can’t seem to find option to export to kml or gpx. I will keep this app while using another app with this option (thankful for import option!) until fog of world add export feature, then I will use this app full time.

Liked it better before the update. I love seeing my tracks across the country. But I miss the blue dot that lets me know where my current location is. Just makes it hard to find where I am on the map at times.

Best Money Spent on the App Store. This app has provided so much joy in my life since I bought it. I’d pay yearly for this.

a really nice app with one flaw. I really love this app. it's something I was looking forward to using and have been using a long time. the UI is intuitive. it's clean. I love the achievements. a huge flaw with mine lately is that it refuses to record if the app is not in the foreground. I have location settings set to always. I have record locked to the on position. this has caused me to miss my whole vacation while on my motorcycle, which I'm sad about. other than that. this is a great app.

My absolute favorite obsession. I heard about this app on the Rooster Teeth Podcast, Burnie Burns and the others are big fans and I decided to try it out. I've been mapping everywhere I go and absolutely love it.

Awesome App but Needs Erase Ability. I’ve been using this apps for years and I absolutely love it. One of the best apps in the App Store. The only downside is it desperately needs an erase tool to get rid of messed up tracks!

Great app.. I use this all the time. It’s surprisingly useful when I can’t quite remember how to get somewhere I’ve been. Also ... it’s fun filling in the blank spaces. And suddenly realizing how very, very large the planet is.

Push notifications and recent Badges. You should add a push notification function to let you know when you earn a badge as well as a recent badges acquired area.

Google Maps is still offset！！！. In China, the hybrid mode of Google Maps is still offset, and the satellite map is normal after turning off GCJ-02. Can it be solved? Thank you very much!

Nice premise but I regret buying it. I like the idea of having an app to track my location so i can see where I've explored. However, you have to have the app running and recording to do it. I was thinking it did it in the background unprompted by me and then would show me what areas i have/have not been to when i entered the app. I bought this app (something I very rarely do) and my first exploration of it, left me disappointed.

Would like to give it 5 stars. I would like to give this app 5 stars but I have had it crash too many times on our road trip. Because of the crashes There are huge gaps on the map.

Poor battery life. I use energy saving mode to let the app run in background but still it consumes the battery too fast. For example, I usually charge my phone overnight, and at noon it is about 80% remains. However with this app running in bg, it is 60%, about 20% more consumed I think.

Weirdly Satisfying. Don't tell anyone but I sometimes take the long way just to defog a new section. Watching the fog lift is like blazing a new trail. I have often refer back to remember a trip...or to prove I'm right when I say "we've been here before". Ha!

Won’t import KML or GPX files.. Don’t know why this thing stopped working, I can’t import any files from my Bad Elf device which I’ve been doing for years. And there is no other place to report an issue, so here we are.

Not reliable. A bug in the app makes it stop recording the background, and you don’t find out until it’s too late and data has been lost.

great app. I travel around with this app, and feel real fantastic to see the history trace all together in the map. Thanks for the keeping update. Really appreciate.

Best App For Reducing Smog. Everywhere I go, I repel pollution! Seeing a real-time satellite view of my positive impact helps give me motivation. Next week, I’m beginning a series of mission trips to reduce smog in the hardest-hit regions of the world, starting with Los Angeles and Xingtai - wish me luck!!

Great but pricey!. I must have bought this app years ago. I love it so much but I have trouble getting friends onboard because of the high purchase price.
