Love this app but big issue. I am loving this app. Once you get the hang of the controls it’s great. Being able to tie flies is a really cool addition. I get to the point where I want to give these guys some of my money to buy new streams to fish, but the app crashes every time. Very unfortunate glitch

Good but need help. I downloaded an Alaskan river that has “trophy grayling”, only problem is I can’t identify what the food source is in the hatch check, it looks like a blurred blue figure. Please help me, I spent money and wails love to catch some “trophy grayling”. Perfect Thanks!😁

Can’t beat this!. This is better than the earlier version, and that is a tough one to beat! I can’t fish anymore because of health, so this is my go to. I feel like I’m on the river. Very realistic. You cast a few times…and move on to the next site since they aren’t biting. Check your fly and the critters around the water! I love this game!!

Better game, much higher pay wall. I really enjoyed the previous Fly Fishing Simulator and paid for the full version. I paid a fairly high amount to unlock the last one and finally decided to try the subscription out. Started one week and got a random river that I couldn’t choose, then the very next week I was charged 1.99 again, for the monthly subscription. So I could have just bought 4 rivers I wanted for 99 cents a piece. Good game but the pay wall detracts me from playing it.

Amazing game only one problem!. This game is amazing! Perhaps the best on the market! I spend hours on this game learning the sites and having fun! My only question is how do can you land the big fish 35 plus without breaking them off? Side note: I think there should be a option to head to head battle with your friends biggest fish wins! Another is the largest fish each day of each species should get a reward maybe a special badge or another fly! Thanks great game!

Where is baby gulch?. Think I might have commented on the earlier app but where is baby gulch creek in Colorado? I am obsessed with the app but would love to real life fish it as well. The app is awesome and crazy realistic, almost like I’m really there.. Haha when I have more time that is

Great Game. To start off, I never write reviews, but I love this game. The small water and stream fishing is so accurate with fish locations and how the fish fight. The price you pay for the full game is well worth the money. It’s a great simulator for when you can’t get out on the water but miss the action!

Overall an amazing simulation. Love this game, but has a glitch when you get a big fish on ... the fish just keeps swimming and you can’t reel it in .. then eventually crashes. Without the glitch, it would easily be a 5.

Amazing app. A bunch of my friends that do irl fishing have this app, my only concern is that I can’t get passed the gallatin river mt without paying, in my position currently I cannot buy anything but is there anyway to get passed this?

Amazing and relaxing game. I love this game, I really love this game. It’s so relaxing and meditative. I love the wide selection of fish species and rivers. It really feel like I’m fly fishing. I really love how this game recreates the experience of fly fishing. There just is one thing that I’m confused about. What is fly creation credit? Is it like something that I can redeem for fly tying stuff. Like heavy duty hooks for bass bugs? That’s really the only thing that confuses me about his game. I really love it.

Five stars, but it could use some more work. I love this game, and I think it is one of the best fishing games out there. But I was thinking that it could use something more. I am obsessed with carp fishing. I found out that you can fly fish for them. In case you don’t know where I am going with this. I was thinking that maybe you could add carp to the game. I don’t want to pressure you too much but I would really like it if there were carp in the game and I think other people would too.

Awesome app. I love this game! I’ve been playing it for years since there were only a few rivers and it has only gotten better. Question: any chance you’ll be adding any New Mexico rivers or streams in the future? I know each one takes a ton of work but was just curious I love to fish my state and was just curious if you had any plans for NM waters

Great Pocket Game. Really cool mobile game to break out to pass time. Great graphics, excellent “customization” with picking out or building own lures and nice variety; the practice water is quite easy to get mechanics down vs really challenging steelheads on other water. Not a cartoon game, just a nice fishing simulator.

Good game. This is one of my favorite games. My only issue is that I hook into a nice chinook and almost every time it snaps. I have the biggest rod and the biggest leader and it still snaps if the fish is over 30 inches. Frustrating.

Please Fix. Interesting Game. Would love to be able to play at other rivers. Even after Rivers have been downloaded they are not available on the game. iPhone user… can only play to the 1-3 options available as starter.

Most Realistic Fishing Game Period!. Not only is this the best fly fishing simulator (that's right way more than just a game) this is the most realistic fishing game period! The fish behave like they do in real life, sitting in between a seam in the current, or waiting in a deep pool etc. The new fly tying feature is awesome too! Thanks for taking the time to make this awesome app!

Really Good. Loved it. No negatives. Could see it continue to grow but hope it continues to be available for years to come.

FFSHD as well.. This simulator is a lot of fun, but the same problem still exists except that now you get kicked completely out of the program. This seems to happen randomly and frequently.

Great game. This is a really good game. The only problem I have is that on the iPhone XR, it doesn’t take up the full screen, which I’m not a big fan of. If in the future the game could have a feature to take up the whole screen, I’d be really happy.

Would be 5 stars........ I love this game, I fly fish whenever I can, when I can’t I play this. Great fly selection and great rivers, also love that you can tie your own flies! However I recently purchased the iPhone X and had to download the game again. When I opened the game I tried to restore my purchases and was only able to get 5 of the 20+ rivers that I had PURCHASED. I cannot find a way to restore all my purchases, I also lost all my progress, my flys, everything! I really love this game but I spent a good bit on it to support the dev. and now have lost everything. If the dev reads this please let me know if there is anything I can do to restore ALL my purchases and my progress!

Amazing!. I love this game! What it could use is a guide system for fly tying (I’ve never tied my own flies in real life so I have no idea what I’m doing) and an update for just general things!

Keeps closing. Every time I get a new place to fish I try to load it in it kicks me out and I have to log back in every time. Even though it does this I love the game and if this was to change I would give 5 stars

Best fly fishing game period.. Quite frankly there no fly fishing video games anywhere lol. I absolutely love this game and love that you can get tips and advice while shooting some flies! Graphics are decent especially for a phone game but the fight and mechanics of the game are pretty good! I really hope the developers keep improving and making enhancements to the Game! If there’s any way I could help I’d love to! I would love if there was some way of mending and just improvements to the graphic I know that’s probably a hard process but being that this is the only good fly fishing sim out there I know all of us anglers would greatly appreciate it. This game is 10/10 i love playing it at the office, but just had some words for improvement!:) take care guys keep slaying those rivers boys

Fun fly fishing app!. I have used this game for over a year and have paid for the full version. It’s a fun game. I had to reinstall the app twice after last update but it is now working fine. Best fly fishing app out there.

Another brilliancy from Paul Halter. Paul has been at the business of creating the perfect fly fishing sim for a long time. I have owned some of his earlier fly fishing programs (plus an ice fishing sim that was a hoot). He keeps improving. This newest version of the HD sim pulls you into the experience and, just like the real thing, you know there are other things you should be doing, but you make just one more cast. Then another... :-). When I saw his half price special to get the complete set of rivers, flies, rods and leaders, I jumped on it. Regarding rod behavior, as in real life, the more I have practiced casting, the better my control. One thing - it would be nice to be able to make reach, roll and puddle casts, but I suspect that would be a programming nightmare. One easy add-on though would be a depth range data for a stretch of river - to better choose strike indicator depth and split shot. You can see the speed of the water. But, in real life, you’d assess the depth by wading it or walking to different perspective points to estimate it. Small quibble. Buy the sim. Especially for iPad, where it shines. You too can be snatching brookies at 2am instead of sleeping.

Ngl kinda W. Tbh I love the the controls and mechanics it fun and not super difficult the only problem I have is that bacislly almost everything cost money but other then that 👌🏻

Really good. I’ve spent a long time and playing this game. I am kind of addicted. But, you only get one river if you don’t spend money. The game could be better if they added a new river for free, or bigger fish for the free river. Overall, this is a great fly fishing game and I would recommend it.

Paul, kudos!. Oh Paul, this is just heaven on a tablet brother. How many hours of straight joy and innocent peace do I get from this delightful software concoction. Especially when the weather is rough, this comes in perfectly! Best way to invest time in relaxation on iOS.

Excellent remake. I have to say I am very impressed with this new fly fishing simulator. The graphics on the game have been improved, there are more fish species, and I love the new feature that allows the user to create/tie flys. This game also features very realistic fish behavior. The fish in the game react just as fish would in real life to the environment around them. The fish even seem to sit in the river where they would in real life (deep holes, eddies, etc.) Now for my very few complaints over the new HD fly fishing simulator. I personally think this new simulator is slower than the previous, such as when you are switching between sites. But that in all is my only slight complaint and in conclusion I must say that this is the most realistic fishing game on the App Store period.

Great game, one problem. I cannot find the river with dolly varden, I starting to think it is not in the game, please at dolly varden. If there is the dolly varden already just tell me what location it is in. Great game though.

Relaxing and smooth. I downloaded the original free game. Played for an hour and bought the whole kielbasa. Was never disappointed. Downloaded thIS HD version and didn’t wait an hour. The flow of the water is so nice and smooth. Fighting the fish feels more streamlined, And I still love the beautiful ambient sounds. Adding fly tying was over the top awesome. You seem to have found that sweet spot of loving what you do. Doing it very well, and offering a lovingly crafted product at a fair price. So rare these days.

Wow thanks for this update!. I’ve always loved this app. And I’ve already written a review. But because of the stream creator update I had to write again. I’m about to go on my annual 10 day fishing trip. And I absolutely can’t wait to start creating my fishing locations on this simulator!!!! . I’m so happy you went into so much detail with it too. I’m sure it was a ton of work. It’s very cool that we can publish them. It really adds so much to the experience. This looks like so much fun. I appreciate that you are still active with updates. Love it!. For a fishing game… not sure you can beat this one. I’ve enjoyed using it in pastimes where I’m just killing time- and with the ability to download rivers that I routinely fish, it’s like I’m out there in real life. Great game, fun graphics, fun fly selection, ability to control leader size and depth. Very detailed! One suggestion for future changes… if possible, a little more control in line mending would be nice. Cheers from the PNW.

Awesome. Thank you so much for this, it really makes me feel like I’m back in my Patagonia. The game is smooth and realistic, physics could not be better! I would only change the Interface design, It makes it appear a poor game when it’s actually an awesome one It would be nice if each river has a map so you could see where that river is in the real world

FFSHD. As I now live in Shanghai, China, this is the closest I can get to clear rivers and fly fishing. The game is fantastic and very realistic, but there is one major glitch - many times when I have hooked a large fish and played it for a while the game crashes and restarts at the main menu. Fix that and it would be 5 stars. I also think the pricing is very reasonable, a lot of work has gone into making it.

Ok, but glitches. The main problem that I’m having is that when I want to go and look at the rivers that I can download you keep shoving the package deal in my face and it freezes the game. I can’t exit out of it and I have to close the app if I want to go back in. I am getting to the point that I really don’t wanna open the app anymore. Also, the Flytying thing is a little lackluster. It would help if I could see the shape of each item or a suggestion of what it will do to the fly.

Help me. I have played this game for almost a year no issues. The update about a week ago caused the game to crash every time I caught my second fish. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Now it crashes every time I attempt to restore my purchases. Thank you so much

Can’t buy the whole package!. Love the game but I’m trying to buy all of the rivers together and the game won’t let me purchase it! It may be because my phone isn’t updated all the way idk.

Crashes after catch. Decent app. Rod/line go crazy from time to time. Inconsistent coaching -- often says the fly is wrong as a fish is caught. Sadly, have had many app crashes on all rivers after setting hook and starting to reel. Makes it a bummer to play.

Fun app, but crashes. Could you please do something about the untimely crashing? I played a fish for quite some time, probably the largest fish I’ve hooked in this game, and of course, the app crashed before I got him in. The happens way too frequently. The buggiest app on my iPad.

Excellent Sim. I love this game and spend hours playing it. The latest update had me confused for a little while, to the point where earlier today I wrote a review that I thought was true but have now discovered was simply my not noticing that my leader got reset to the lightest available. I kept losing flys trying to catch big fish. The guide even told me I should probably use a bigger leader... My bad!! Its actually the best fly fishing simulator out there.

4.5 but I will give it a 5. To round up it’s a solid 5 best fly fishing app. Why 4.5? Because I can’t delete old flys I don’t use. This makes my fly boxes very messy and I wish we could have organization features in the future. I recommend this game to any fellow fisherman (or woman) out there.

This is Great!!!. This sim is great for not only its complexity, but also MORE love it’s perceived simplicity... it’s fine mechanics are there and allow you to just do what you’re here to do, RELAX and FISH! It’s technical as well and has the sensitive nuances... I love it, visually it’s gorgeous, not all jumbled up screen, just the essentials and beautiful scenic realistic places... So many fishing sites! You can create your own flys!!! Great detail and great content. This is truly brilliant and very well done 👍 It’s also a great anxiety buster! Some small ideas- Perhaps device vibration with line tension would be a neat effect. Guess that could be phones only... Being able to pan your view side to side, maybe gyroscopically, for more area to cast, rotate view to utilize up or down stream but hey it’s truly not necessary Thank you for creating something pretty amazing and realistic! Still wouldn’t change too much of a very good thing, the feel of realism is pretty good, perhaps as it gets for sim on an electronic device. The more I fish the better it seems to get. I completely love this simulator. I can’t stop fishing! It’s a winner and I’m telling everyone about it! Thank you!

Paul hater please read this. It's a good game but you need to make it so that you can play your own map that you made without having to get the complete package.

This is a rewrite of previous post: Good app, poor support.. I have apologized to the developer for the previous post. The problem I had was on MY end - it was not a fault with the app. While it did take a little longer than expected to receive a reply, (he had an issue with his email) Paul did reply and was very helpful. I have found this app to be a blast! While there is a minor issue here and there, they are easily overlooked due to the sheer enjoyment in using the app. Great scenery, great audio of the rivers and surrounding areas - and some beautiful fish to boot. Thanks for a really good app, Paul. And especially for your patience regarding my mess up. I’d give the app itself 4 stars, perhaps five. But the two-star rating is due to lack of communication from customer support. I purchased a multi-river pack, but never received any download notification. I sent four separate emails to two different email addresses. All four attempts came back as undeliverable. If the developer is experiencing a server issue, that is one thing. However, a note could have been posted on the app store that they were/are having server issues. A refund would be appreciated.

This FF App is What You Want. Very realistic river graphics, varied hatch activity, varied fly choice options, with the ability to tie your own flies to “match the hatch”. Options to chose different rod lengths, leader size, to suit river conditions, and option for sub-surface flies customized provision for strike indicator and split shot. In short this is a realistic and ENJOYABLE app.

Best fishing app around. One of my favorite apps to use when I get the urge to fish but I’m busy. App keeps you taking that “last cast”. I think it would be cool if you could swing streamers in the game and your phone vibrated when you got a bite.

Could be great. This is a fun app until it quits working. If you move the rod while fighting a fish the reel quits working. It has no tension and you can spin it forever without reeling in a fish. Also crashes on certain rivers frequently. Could be a great app but needs some work.

Terrible game. I don’t even call this a game, it is the most terrible fishing game that I’ve ever played. I spent 2 hrs trying to find the right lure, nothing worked, whereas in real life I know what to use but it seems to me that the maker doesn’t really know a bow fishing that much. What an utter embarrassment. You can try it out but you won’t be amused whatsoever. This game embarrasses me. I can’t even give it one star. Sorry.

Took my money and nothing happened!!!. Great game, lots of fun! But I made a purchase and nothing happened. It shows that it took my money. Please help! Also, it says purchase any river or package and the ads will be gone. I made the purchase and I still have ads. 5 stars if you give me my money back and fix this!!!

From matching the fly hatches, to the scenic pictures taken by the developer, all these aspects of the game make it very fun and engaging to play. Keeps crashing. I upgraded to this version and it keeps crashing while loading the 5th area of the very first sight. I’ve tried everything I could think of to get it to load but nothing I’ve done works. I really enjoyed the simulator before this one but unfortunately this one had been a bust for me.

Great Game. This game is one of my favorites being a fly angler. I had it on a PC then switched to a Mac and was disappointed I no longer had the game. Then the iOS version was released and I was happy once again. Always have paid for the full versions. The latest release is an improvement over the last. I see the potential here! I wish the fly selection was greater even to start with. And for a full version I wish it added more flies. Tying is cool but the scud hook is missing! Lastly, the game keeps crashing when I hook into a fish after I've already caught several. I'm confident the developer will address it as I've seen a lot of work go into the game through the years. Really fun game for a fly angler to pass time when you wish your waders were wet.

Be VERY weary, it stole my money!!!. I went to buy my local stream as an in app purchase and it started glitching... asking me to pay over and over... tried to double tap the home button to get away from the app and it read my fingerprint and charged me $20. Neat little app otherwise for the winter months.

So sorry for my previous review!. I was so wrong! It is a ton of fun! Just took me a while to get the hang of it. Feels a little like the controls are backwards to me, but I’m getting it!

Boo. It’s impossible to find Dolly Varden anywhere in this game despite it labeling as a catchable fish in the leaderboards.

Can’t believe I happy dropping 40$ on an app. Generally you can tell within a minutes if a fishing game is trash. I have played for an hour now and here is what I have to say. You start out with the free locations of a pond and a river. So I checked what the other locations were that I had to pay for and holy crap there were tons from different states all over the U.S AND details of the water body. So I thought “cool but how much $”? It’s 40$ for all of them and any new ones put out in the future. I wanted to buy them but I thought 40$ was way too much. But I already downloaded it so I figured I’d give it a shot before uninstalling. So I went to the pond location, checked out the gear they start you with, and holy s#!+. There is a “check hatch” button for if you want to “match the hatch”, and they start you with 84 different dry flys and 84 wet flys. 168 different flys! AND when you click a fly you can choose its size. The casting is… better than expected but not as good as I want it to be. It is over sensitive on the Y-axis and inverse (sliding down on the screen moves the rod tip up) and there is no way to adjust the sensitivity or turn off the inverse. That being said, it’s still pretty lifelike. Oh, and you can’t catch bushes which is a godsend because it is the bane of my existence in real life. The winding is weird. Clockwise to let out line, counterclockwise to reel in. I have not found out how to strip in line or if you even can, but they give you streamers so I imagine it’s possible. I have only done an hour of actual fishing and it seems relatively accurate. Fish bite if you match the hatch, but you don’t have to do it to hook up (provided your fly selection is reasonable). Hooking a fish: There is no popup “bite notification” when you get a bite, you have to watch your dry fly or line… like you actually would. As far as setting the hook, it’s pretty easy, just move the rod tip up. Fighting a fish: pretty straight forward. So, yea I’m dropping the 40$ and it’s probably going to become an addiction and I’m going to get fired for playing it at work, but definitely seems worth it.

Love the Game but the Controls are meh. So I love the game and everything in it but the reel controls are… Unusable. Trying to reel in a fish and the thing stops reeling. It’s like it’s not sensing the input. I tried it on my old phone and my new phone and I had the same issue.

Idiotic. Sorry but this is idiotic. First 2 casts I guess got snagged with no way to unsnag. Realistic maybe, but at beginner level with the guide on, what’s the point?

Awesome!. Highly recommend this to all people. I love this game and play it every day, I can relax fishing on a calm brook for rainbow trout or have an exiting battle with a salmon on a fast river. Whatever I’m doing it’s fun, I’m not trying to ask for to much but it would make the game a lot better if you add 5 things. First, lake trout would be very fun to catch because they are naturally large and are cool looking fish. Second, sockeye salmon which are large stunning to look at beautiful fish. 3rd I think bull trout would be cool and I believe we already have brook trout which are very similar but not the same but bull trout would be fun. Next pike would be fun most people know what a pike is but if not, they are large long fish with beautiful colors and are also pretty aggressive predators. Finally I think arctic char would be amazing to, they are VERY pretty fish and are medium in size to. I would love to see these in the future and maybe they are already in the game just haven’t fished enough. And I’m going to quickly give another recommendation before this gets to long… I don’t think we have salt water fly fishing, I know it’s a long shot for this to be added but this would be AWSOME!!! People actually do it all of the time, believe it or not. You can fish from stripped bass to sharks, yes some shark species will bite on flys! That would be crazy fun in the game but that’s all I have right now. If you see this this and you haven’t already, then… GET THIS GAME ITS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great app. Great time killer on the plane. Only thing is that with the HD version the "restore purchases" button doesn't work. I paid for the full version of the last game just about a month or two ago. I was hoping that they'd let me transfer my purchases. Gave it 5 starts bc its the o my fly fishing app/game I've played that's held my attention. It's a good game if your a real fly fisher.

Fun game. It would be nice to have more areas for free

Locations. I would recommend trying to add more locations for free and a little more species but it is an awesome game

Great and realistic. Great game, one thing that would make this game complete is dropper rigs and multiple fly rigs Thanks I need to stop editing this review, got all my problems figured out. Still would like dropper rigs and multi fly rigs If possible could you add a couple more warm water spots?

I like it. I am enjoying this app. A great improvement over the first version. Only problem is the rod and line behave quite erratically at times.
