Crystal Adblock – Block unwanted ads! Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Ancient blocklist. So, this app worked great when it first came out but the blocklist hasn’t been updated in ages nor the app... I am starting to see ads and that is no bueno. I would check out another app for your money.

Still works, people are just morons. Been using it since it first came out. I downloaded AdBlockPlus and Purify as well, stuck out with Crystal since that is the only one that still worked after a year. Today, in mid 2019, Crystal still works. I don’t know what other people are doing that they think it isn’t working. I expect ignorance.

Restart?. There are a number of recent reviews here saying Crystal stopped working, and indeed I confess I came back here because a site I regularly visit had become littered with ads where not long ago there were none. On a whim I disabled Crystal under Safari settings, restart Safari, then reenabled Crystal and restarted Safari and all the ads were gone. FWIW.

Why 5? Because it is working and it's free!. It does what it says, ads and other annoying things are blocked.

And now for... ads. Crystal ad block used to work wonderfully, but after a recent update, I've noticed ads on major websites that are easily blocked. Even though you can report ads and they'll be "taken care of soon," this has not been the case. Currently looking for another, better ad blocker.

I dislike pop ups this is a great app. Thanks for easily getting rid of all the popups. I've been using this app for about a year and have not had a pop up that I can remember.

Functions as expected. Turn off the whitelisted ads and this functions as expected.

Works as advertised. The only problem I had was that all Google Shopping links were blocked. I contacted Dean and he quickly responded with a workaround and said he'd look into fixing this issue in a future update. Great app and excellent customer service!

Questionable priorities. This app developer charged me money to enable ad-free browsing. Within a week they have signed a contract with a company that allows 'certain ads' through their ad blocking filters. What the developer must know that he/she cannot sell a product that promises ad blocking and then, greedily agrees to let the entire point of the app go up in smoke to make a quick buck. I whitelist websites that survive on ads. I can make that decision myself, I don't need the developer to cheat me of my money in the false pretense of letting 'chosen apps' through. I will be requesting a refund on this app that lied to its customers. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

ABANDONED APP. It doesn't block everything yet but it has removed a great majority of them and has a nifty report website feature so they may review and add. 5 stars for now! Will re-review in ten days to give them time to review my corrections. Update 1: False advertising... He accepts money to let ads through. Funny how this was conveniently left out or just as bad, buried in the TOS. It's cool that you want the help the publishers, but at the cost of lying to your consumers. Be honest from the get go and you'll have a few less buyers, but very happy customers. I know I'll never see a refund, but I'd never have bought this app if I knew earlier Update 2: the app is abandoned. DO NOT PURCHASE

No longer supported. Was great, and was actually featured as the best adblocker when apple announced support for adblocking a couple years ago, but it doesn’t seem to ever be updated, letting ads come through, while still getting me blocked from certain sites until I disable the service. Don’t spend your money here

No longer functions. Worked well once upon a time then developer stopped caring at all. Last update was two years ago. App no longer blocks the most basic ads. Current status: Garbage that should be removed from the App Store.

Not blocking all ads. I turned acceptable ads off so it blocks everything yet it's still showing some ads

Sorta Works. I bought this expecting it to be a waste of money and it was only half a waste because it only does about half its job. The non-intrusive ads are still there even when the option to block them is “on”; but the tab changing ads are, in fact, reduced but not fully extinct. I kept this app to see how well it does in the future hoping my $.99 was enough to keep the ball rolling for these people to make a better product for us all. Only time will tell now.

Great app. Great app. Blocks annoying ads that bog down the webpage and those annoying redirects. I don't object to ads but this makes safari run so much smoother. The new whitelist and acceptable ads feature is a nice touch.

Doesn’t block enough ads. Does NOT block enough ads. There’s an option for “acceptable ads” but it disregards the setting as Google ads always seem to bypass this option. Please add adblocking within apps.

So far it's wonderful. Got so annoyed today by pop ups obscuring content on the web, I researched and found this ingenious perfect gadget. Love it. PS There is a setting, now, apparently, to show or block some less intrusive ads.

No Longer Works. Worked fine and still blocked most ads for me. The n the last few weeks it stops working on Google search (prevents me from searching and blocks the click through url)

Turn it on and forget it. I often forget I own this app, until a friend complains about how horrible a mobile web page loads with ads and pop-ops. I basically never see any of these. Well done Crystal.

Needs a. Serious Update. This was a very effective ad block when it first came out. But 2 years later, it is not nearly effective. Ads show up every where!

It just works!. Does what the details say it will do. Hats off to the developer!

Still excellent. This app still works great for me - it blocks all ads on all sites, and doesn’t break any sites.

Thanks!. Works great in Safari. Hopefully we can extend to Facebook in the next iteration. ❤️

Works great. Crystal works perfectly. I have been using Crystal since day 1 and it keeps getting better and better. There are many ad blockers out there and I have tried a few others, but I haven't found a reason to use anything else than Crystal.

Amazing app. This app is great, at first i didn't think it worked, but then i realized i had a setting on that allowed some ads. Switched that off and wow, been looking for a site with ads for 5 minutes and still cant find any! Good stuff

Disappointing. I bought this app after reading an article on the Verge. The developer seemed enthusiastic about giving users a uncluttered and unencumbered browsing experience but sadly I guess the allure of easy money made them sell out to ads. Don't buy this save your money buy 1blocker it actually works!

Opaque. Several years ago, during the initial Apple-promoted campaign to combat intrusive tracking across the web, is when Crystal got most of its users (and money). After the initial boost the money leveled off, so this content blocker had started whitelisting large advertisers— selling out its customers.

It actually works. Perfectly.. By far the best ad blocking program I've used, and worth every penny. It blocks ads completely on every page. Pages are so much more readable without having to scroll through ads. I have been waiting for a white listing feature, and now that it's here the program is perfect.

Misleading and allowing ads for those pay!. Epic failure. I have not whitelisted any site and I started to see full screens apps from sites most likely paid this developer. Will submit a complain to Apple for misleading and stealing my money.

Crystal App. The app worked great but beware . . It will mess up your settings on any apple phone! Still can’t get one of my emails even though I deleted it!

Abandoned. Nonfunctional. Wasn't great to begin with.. UPDATE: I no longer recommend Crystal at all. It has been abandoned for many years. Likely it was abandoned immediately after it was created. The block list is ancient to the point of being irrelevant. Every single ad I reported to the developer since the app was released years ago never got added to the blocklist. Any updates to the blocklist provided since release have long since stopped years ago. The final release of the app merely added an "acceptable ads" feature: that is, enabling even more ads to get through its already weak defenses.

Does not block ads. Going to normal sites you'll still see annoying ads take control of your screen.

No longer works. Years ago, when this app was first introduced, it worked. It hasn't worked correctly the last 2 years that I have tried using it. No updates, nothing. A forgotten app.

New installs won’t work. If you already had this app installed years back it will still work. However, if you try to open it to change setting (add to the white list, for example) or open it for the first time the app will crash.

Well spent .99. Immediately after downloading, I visited a few sites notoriously loaded with ads and Crystal did an excellent job. Very pleased.

Really enjoying the refreshed app. I just picked this up after the most recent update. I had been using Purify since iOS 9 was launched. Really liking this app now. It's blocking things well without being too aggressive. Purify does a good job but it was blocking embedded tweets when I didn't have social media blocking set up. So far so good with this new version of Crystal.

Now abandoned 2020 ... old review: Not compatible with old devices, Good on my iPhone 6. Old review: This app works great on my iPhone 6. But I found out the hard way that it's not compatible with my iPad 3 retina. The iPad three is just three years old but already a lot of designers are completely forgetting about backwards compatibility seem to ignore a lot of devices.

Best ad blocker. I've used a bunch of ad blockers, and always worked to fine-tune settings to block exactly what I wanted to block. I tried downloading Crystal when it was free for a day, and found it much easier to set up preferences and custom filters just the way I want. In hindsight, I would happily pay $1 for this app. I should have been using it all along.

Consistently Good. I've used Crystal for over a year, and it has always functioned exactly as advertised. Unlike a number of other content blockers, Crystal's developer has not abandoned this app, but has instead continued to update and improve it (including regular blocklist updates). This latest version also includes the oft-requested whitelisting feature. I really don't understand the hatred that is being directed towards this developer because of the new "acceptable ads" setting. If you don't want to allow these adverts, just turn them off in the app—it's that simple!

Seriously the best blocker I’ve used. I used the Firefox blocker before this, and another one before that. Then I heard of this one on a tech podcast, when I think the maker of this app was a guest speaker on the show. I know this sounds silly but I use this one because it actually does what it’s supposed to do... block ads and not let them load and make me jump to the App Store as much to download Candy Crush. I disabled all other add blockers since I’ve been using this one and have been happy ever since.

Terrible!. I had so much trouble even opening the app! The app just crashes on my iPhone and is really buggy. It sometimes doesn’t even block ads. I want my money back, this isn’t worth my dollar

UNACCEPTABLE. If I could give '0' stars, that would still be too generous as you are the definition of despicable developer and sadly, an actual merchant as this does not fly. Allows ads on backend of those who pay him to be whitelisted. May all your ventures fail miserably sir!

Thank you!. I’ve only had this product for a day and it’s already paid for itself! Thanks for lowering my blood pressure.

Wow - thanks Dean!. And just when I thought the product was dead this comes out. Whitelisting from *within* Safari. Acceptable Ads as an option to placate the "good" ad folks. And a clean new look to boot. Crystal was one of the first ad blockers on iOS and it's certainly the best. Thanks again

Bait and switch. This allows ads because this developer gets paid by advertisers. You think you're blocking ads because that's the purpose of this app, but you're not. This is an unacceptable deception. Looking into a refund.

No longer being updated.... Crystal worked very well until about 6 months ago, when I started noticing it breaking websites. I reported it repeatedly using Crystal’s built-in tools, but nothing ever got fixed. I think the developer has moved on, so I will too.

Works even on TMZ.... Just installed this and blocked all ads in preferences. I'm still in iOS 9. Tried it on the most impossibly ad-infested site I know : the TMZ tabloid site. TMZ has been practically unreadable for years because of all the pathological ads (used to be normal). With Crystal - it was completely readable, no agonizing slowdown and glitchiness. Before, I had to use a separate browser (Adblock) if there was anything I wanted to read on TMZ. Now I can read it within Safari, no problem. Will be testing other occasionally glitchy sites (all those ads are really a problem), but TMZ is definitely the gold standard for testing ad blockers.

💩. This app does not do at all what it said it would. I downloaded it because it was recommended to me by another creator but it was just 💩 in the end. I didn't even bother looking at the reviews cuz I was just thinking, "Well this app had to have been recommended to me for a reason.🤷🏻‍♀️" But nope, this app was just a heavy load of 💩. I wish I would have spent my dollar a bit more wisely. But oh well, my own fault, I guess. 🤦🏻‍♀️

This app works wonders!. As soon as I entered on Safari, I saw an ad for a brief second, then it disappeared. Then I went to a website that I know has a lot of ads, but there were none this time! Thanks for this app. It's the best!!

No Longer Works. This worked great when I first bought it, but I'm now bombarded by pop-up ads, including videos and ads that I can't close immediate. I don't know if they sold out or have been circumvented, but it no longer works.

Not as 'advertised'. Poor developer behaviour.. Firstly, just after installing the app, the first website I went to still displayed ads. But anyway it worked ok on other sites. But the reason I have now requested a refund and left a review is because they are going to allow some ads to be shown if they are paid for it. Really poor behaviour. It only cost $1.29 but it's the principle - and I'll download another content blocker with the money.

Rarely works. It’s not had an update in years and it rarely works.

Works perfectly. Haven't had any problems with sites not load and seems to be doing its job quite well. Thanks Developers.

Quality app. Does its job and keeps ads to a bare minimum 👍🏼 good to see

Needs a whitelist. Should put in a whitelist so that we can unblock ads on a page that doesn't work with the blocker instead of going into safari and having to disable the entire app for that one page that doesn't work well with the app.

Works great. A little cuddly to get to work, force quit safari (if background refresh is off need to open app) these are more Apple constraints on the developer. Works really well and I had forgotten what it was like to have an add free experience on a phone. Great!!

Greedy, shady and falsely advertised. So Mr Murphy thinks it’s okay to charge people money with the promise of BLOCKING ads, then after having enough customers (or rather "people who took the bite” from his point of view), sells out to big paying ad providers so they can slip through their "not so bad ads” (because we all know that Google ads are really “good” ads). You charge people money with the promise or providing a service then you take money from others with the promise to provide the exact opposite. All with ZERO mention of that in product/service main page. If that’s not fraud, I don’t know what is. Good luck with your endeavour to collect people's hard earned cents, sir. You shall not have any of mine.

Works as described. Despite other reviews here I have this working perfectly on both iPad Air and iPhone 6 with no issues. Whilst it doesn't have any setting tab to adjust white or black lists it downloads its lists from the developer site with updates happening regularly. Not sure what problems other reviewers are having to stop it working but it is perfect for me. I recommend it to all.

Massive difference in loading speed. I have just downloaded a couple of add blockers and this one has been the best so far. It has rendered all of the sites correctly, as opposed to the competition who seem to block CSS on some sites. There is a significant decrease in loading speed on most websites, news sites in particular. Great app. Highly recommended.

Started breaking too many sites. You’re on a legitimate ecommerce site and it blocks the primary product images. On a blog that uses Google to search it and that blocks the search results. I just felt like I was missing out on more than just ads so I disabled it.

Fantastic. I have only been using Crystal for a few days however the safari mobile browsing experience has vastly improved. My iPhone and iPad are more useful again! Easy setup & works as promised. Thank you developers.

It's been a long time coming. I love the simplicity of this app and that I'm finally able to block the out of control advertising and tracking rubbish that pollutes the web. Also looking forward to the update that lets me white list sites with acceptable ads or ones I want to support.

Getting worse over time. It often blocks things you don't want and breaks sites like Reddit (when posting). I don't like the guessing game of whether the site is broken, the browser is broken, or Crystal is broken. Constantly disabling it temporarily becomes a real pain and so I've turned it off entirely.

The best. Worth every penny!. Since using this ad blocker I don't even notice ads anymore. I sometimes even forget they exist. Thanks heaps to the developers of Crystal! Keep up the amazing work

Finally, I can use safari again.. Safari is significantly more usable now and everything is faster overall. Would like to see some stats within crystal though to see what's been blocked and how much data has been saved.

Double Standards?. I was enjoying my ad free browsing and praising this app till I heard about the new 'initiative' by the developer! I also only bought this app cause it claimed to block all ads! I don't need black or white lists! I don't want to manage anything when I want to browse! I just want to browse. That's why I paid for this app. So if you're going to take that away then I'm sorry but you've let people down! At least the developer of the other app pulled his app out of the store. But to do this now after I bought this app is not acceptable in my opinion!!

4 stars so far. I just installed this. It blocks the annoying pop up ads on news sites, but still allows those feral Harvey Norman ads, one of the worst scourges of society, so you lose a star. When that gets blocked you'll get your 5th star.

Great app but has some issues. Browsing speed really does improve drastically with this app. Worth the money just to see the difference it makes. It does however stop you from being able to view some videos embedded in certain websites. You can workaround this by reloading the sites without the blocker enabled (by holding down the refresh button in safari) but it's not an ideal solution. Still one of the most useful apps out there though!

Works well but no updates for a long time. I installed this app when Content Blockers were a new feature on iOS and it's worked fine barring some instances of ads getting through. Unfortunately neither the app nor the filter list appears to have been updated for a long time, so it's not keeping up with changes to websites. This potentially means more ads getting through and more sites that don't work correctly over time.

It is finally here.. This has improved website load times and readability so noticeably, makes safari much better than apps for websites. Content is readable, and the first to load. No ad redirects and bait clicks.

Excellent. Excellent - I don’t know why I even bother checking Crystal once a fortnight , it always works well with absolutely no fuss, unlike it’s competitors

Still works. Despite no update since 2016 for me Crystal still blocks more ads in Safari than 1Blocker and AdGuard (the latter is great on macOS). I'd have given Crystal 5 stars if Dean kept the blacklist updated - or at least let us know why it hasn't been.

Good try. The blocking is quite good on some pages but not quite working on many many others. Also I thought what would be a benefit but not for me anymore: block list is not transparent and combined with reports of Crystal having a "whitelist", which is also not transparent I've decided that this blocker is no longer for me.

Untrustworthy. As I suspected, there are reports that the developers of Crystal are allowing advertisers to bypass their ad list through payment. In Crystal, you have absolutely no control over the lists. There is no blacklist to block ad domains missed by crystal. Neither is there a whitelist to exclude domains that Crystal has blocked. My experience is that there are issues with the Crystal block list that breaks certain websites even though there are no ads on those websites. When that happens, you have to manually request the website without content blockers every single time you access, refresh or change a page on the website. My advice: AVOID Crystal.

Total rip off.. Another $0.99 down the drain. Business as usual. I paid for & installed the Crystal App. Activated as per instructions. Guess what? It doesn't work. Which has got me thinking. Why not design a fake App, flog it for a $1.00. Rake the cash in & provide nothing that actually does anything. Why didn't I think of that?

Abandoned. This app has been abandoned by the developer, yet he happily keeps taking customers’ money in exchange for an increasingly obsolete product

Good but hoping it gets better. It is definitely blocking some ads but quite a few are still there (maybe the ad makers are already finding ways around be the block?). Might be improving speeds but not dramatically as others are reporting. Hoping it improves cause I really hate the ads. UPDATE: I'm still seeing lots of ads and now I read that the developer has a "white list" advertisers can pay to be on to avoid the blocking. So the developer has just sold out all his paying customers, right? Downgraded to 1 star.

Excellent Content Blocker. I was excited about content blockers coming in iOS 9 and had heard about Crystal a couple of weeks before iOS 9 was released. I remembered the name and was lucky enough to download Crystal for free during the initial promo period. At first it didn't seem to work, but after a force quit of Safari (and Crystal) content blocking worked really well in Safari. Suddenly websites started loading considerably faster that before. Now, it's not perfect (I don't think any blocker could be), but it's only early days and the blocklist is being updated quite frequently. I'm very happy with it and I'm sure there are more features planned.

No Longer Works. Since the start of Feb hardly blocks anything anymore.

Perfect.. It just works. Amazingly.

Works as recommended. I tried Crystal as one of the two apps suggested by Marco Arment after he pulled Peace from the store. It's worked well so far, and for my browsing haven't come up against any sites that break. Well worth the few dollars the developer is asking!

Used to be great. Crystal used to be really great, like when I first installed it it sped up my web browsing experience but there are still a lot of ads like before. Sure it removed some of them but this ad blocker needs a lot of work. I have tried blacklisting sites but that feature doesn't seem to work. Especially now that IOS 10 is out. Crystal needs to be updated to work with Safari for IOS 10. Please realease an update soon! Plus you go on Crystal's website and it literally says "Crystal an IOS 9 AdBlocker" sooo let's get with the present people!

Really nice!!. Speeds up browsing a lot! Have been blocking stuff using Ghostery on the desktop for ages (trackers in particular — they're all over the web and they're basically invisible), and it's great to be able to do the same on iOS now too. Features I'd like to see in future versions: - To see a list in the app of the advertisers and trackers that are being blocked. - To be able to enable & disable individual items (though not sure if this is possible with the current APIs from Apple) - To be able to whitelist items for a particular site (eg. If you are happy for a certain site to show some ads, and you want to support them. May also not be possible with current APIs) Cheers, and keep up the good work!

I can’t believe what happened to my browser. This is truly one the best things I have ever installed on my iPhone. Safari opens pages unbelievably fast. As an experiment I tried to open The Verge, at a minute and a half the blue loading progress bar was still only half way. I tried it again, same results. Then I installed Crystal and in less than 2 seconds the whole page had loaded. Similar results on other ad heavy pages. Pages which were light on ads were instant. This is a must!

You need this.. If you're on a capped data plan, the need for this handy extension is clear. If you like having something that resembles privacy online, you need this. Grab it and enjoy how fast websites suddenly are when they aren't tracking everything you do.

A new web experience.. It's amazing finally being able to browse the web at insanely fast speeds and no annoying advertisements in your face, clean webpages and faster load times. This app is highly recommended :)

Developers ignore "report a site" feedback. While the app basically worked, I've just uninstalled it. It was blocking most videos - ad or no ad - on a newspaper site I use. I gave the developers feedback a few times through "report a site", but they didn't fix it. Save your money and spend it instead on an app where you can create your own whitelist.

Fantastic! Where have you been all my life?!. Works well. Good integration. Very seldom breaks pages but nice that we can reload the page easily by holding refresh. Worth every penny.

rediculous oxymoron. we pay for this ad to block ads and it sells space to google to show ads under the guise of acceptable ads according to them. I'm still seeing ads on safari.

Beauty!. Works just fine. People whinging about it probably didn't set it up properly. Make sure you go to Settings > Safari > Content Blocker and enable it! Also switch off "non-intrusive" ads. Viola! No more pop-ups on dodgy sites or switching over to app store ever 5 min.

No updates. Lazy dev hasn’t updated crystal in over a year. No good enough.

Brilliant. Finally. Saves data, pages load way faster. However, I'd like a whitelist option to enable ads on specific sites I choose to support.

Where’s the update. About time the block list gets an update

Works as advertised making browsing so fast!. Once you enable it you don't know it's there - web pages just load so much faster. A must have if you browse the web on your iPhone or iPad.

Indispensable. Crystal is the only way to use the web! It makes an incredible difference to page load times. Highly recommended.

Great when it works. When it works, I notice much faster browsing but on about 50% of the sites I visit I'm still getting big banner ads and block ads in the middle of articles. Not sure if the stories about advertisers paying to get through the block are true, but there are definitely lots getting through

Well working app. Worth each cent.. Just test your browser on some adblock pages you found in google with this app enabled and once with this app disabled and you will see the result. Well done, I like your work.

Absolutely Fantastic, Works Flawlessly. This is THE BEST content blocker I have ever used! I would recommend it to everyone to block annoying advertisements on webpages and even makes them load faster. All round a fantastic app!!! 👌🏻👍🏻

Fake ! Ads everywhere now!. They started no ads... now there's ads everywhere! Googles ads and all

Gave up years ago. Just save yourselves the hassle and buy AdGuard Pro, constant updates and works throughout iOS systems. The developer liked this app with neglect.

Add blocker. It does not work. Waiste of money.

Not working!. Doesn't work on my iPad mini 2. Ads, ads, ads everywhere sadly.

Bait and switch.. Developer has decided to be greedy and change how the app essentially works - making ad companies pay to allow ads to go through. Shady and defeating the purpose of the app. Will be requesting a refund and reporting this, clear misdirection.

Doesn't block anything. Still so many ads..

Scummy. This app will soon be allowing for advertisers to pay money to bypass the ad block.

Nothing to see here. Waste of money. Followed the loading instructions, spent 45 minutes trying set it up. It's been deleted. I want a refund.

DO NOT BUY IT. Does not do what it says it does.... Period.

Used to work. Don’t bother

Dead. Won’t even open. iPhone XR & iOS 14.3

2 faced company. So you can pay to block ads. Then companies pay him to unblock the ads. Therefore he makes money and we all get the shaft. Good job!

Developer Acting Dishonestly. The developer of this app told the Wall Street Journal that he accepts money from ad networks to bypass Crystal. This was not evident in the app description or on the website when I paid for this app. I don't mind this idea in principle if executed transparently and with allowances to disable the bypass but that's not what happened here. Will be requesting a refund (not because it's a lot of money but because I don't want to support this kind of underhanded behaviour).

Yay. Well I guess it works. I don't notice a difference cuz I don't pay attention to some ads lol. But I would get it. If it is greyed out disable restrictions. Some people say Purify is good. Haven't try that one yet.

Better off with purify. Purify is faster and block ads. With crystal you pay for ads.

Videos not working. On certain websites (like tsn), videos do not even appear so I can't view their videos. Plus, there are still ads that appear so I guess this was a waste of money. I deleted the app. Too bad because the concept is good. If only someone didn't do such a botched job, it would actually be worth it.

Great Efforts !. Must have

Horrible. Do not get this app it does not work!!

False advertising!. This app no longer removes ads anymore. Companies can pay to get their ads white listed. The developer is a major sellout!

Unethical App Practices. Letting certain ads go through for a fee is messed up. Do not pay for this app.

I want my 99c back. srs, Im gonna keep bugging until I'm refunded

Help plz. A waste of money it didn't even work for iPhone 5 so I want a refund now other wise this app it bullshi

Best adblocker. I was going through my adblock apps and deleting them because I figure I don't need more than one. I still had 3 after deleting Crystal, and started seeing ads again. Crystal does the job and the other blockers don't, it's very simple. For this reason, I enable unintrusive ads, even though I haven't seen one yet.

Do not buy - extortion scam. This app has been revealed to be an extortion scam - accepting money from users to block ads, and then allow advertisers to pay to have their ads unblocked. Users still see ads and the seller receives more money for it.

Does not work as advertised. Lets be honest, this blocks little to no adds on any major website such as cnet or any news related website. If i could give 0 stars I would.

Double dipping? Zero stars!. Potential purchasers take note, it was just released that this app developer is now accepting money on the side to let ads through the filter.... So you've paid to block ads but they're going to show up anyways if the advertisers are willing to pay enough money for the privilege. I'm asking for a refund.

_oliwog. Ads still display on websites. Do not waste your money. I want a refund

No configuration ability... Combined with developer allowing adds through that he is paid for = buy another adblocker. Scummy move.

Used to be pretty good. Not anymore. Just uninstalled it as it does nothing on most websites as far as I can tell. Try Firefox Focus instead. I tried getting a refund but can’t since I’ve had it for more than 90 days even though it’s now close to worthless.

Warning. Will let ads through for money. They filter the ads that don't pay the devs. So you still have ads (less than before), but just the ones the devs make money off of.

Disgusting. Take my money and now allow advertising companies to bypass the app. I'll make sure my social media community finds out.

Fantastic!. I was beginning to see ads again, and then I read all the other reviews. What the hell, man? I want a refund!

Works as advertised. The poor reviews here may be because the users have failed to install the app correctly, and make the necessary, one-time tweak to ensure it’s operating effectively.

First Peace, now this.. Peace was a mistake. A very strange mistake to make but still. This however, is seriously messed up. As others have said, it doesn't matter that this "feature" can be turned off: it's a total breach of contract between this developer and its users. Frankly, I'd almost call it a Trojan horse. I've deleted Crystal. Gone. Not coming back. I've purchased Purify which, like Peace, gives me a whitelist I can control. THIRD ad blocker in what? A week?...seriously. I just hope the people behind Purify have ethics because this is getting tiresome.

Companies can pay $ to allow their ads. So the developer of this app is charging users to block ads and then charging companies to allow their specific ads through. I'm so angry I got fouled into paying for this rip off. Why did I pay for the privilege of enabling this developer to earn money by extorting companies? Developers should be forced to reveal that sort of information in their app descriptions. I suppose eventually this developer will be charging users an additional fee to block the ads that he was paid to allow. And then they'll charge the companies ANOTHER bigger fee to let ads on again for these people. And on and on...

Back door deals with advertisers, no thank you. Reports circulated this morning that you've signed paid agreements with the likes of Google and Microsoft to allow their ads and trackers to bypass your filter, and the stated function to prevent this doesn't exist. Thanks for wasting my money, I want to BLOCK ADS, not let them thru! Uninstalling and moving to different blocker that actually gives a damn and gives me control of the functions.

?. Doesn't block YouTube ads. Let's get real.

This app WILL show you ads. Stay away from buying.. They are not filtering the ads like they used to before. I can still see ads on different website. Even if you report them, they keep coming. Please don't waste your money on this app. Doesn't work.

Works well. Seems underrated.. Lots of reviewers are reacting badly to the "acceptable ads" opt-in, which is easy to disable. Crystal is much more effective, configurable and lightweight than alternatives like AdBlock Plus.

Crystal does not work!. Terrible!

Doesn't do the job anymore. Creator has a change of conscience, and that changed the whole product. Now Adverts can be paid to be allowed. This is no longer a content blocker. It is a legitimate paywall, that users paid for and no longer get the only purpose of this app. Just a list essentially for advertisers to purchase. This deserves 0 Stars

Taking $ from advertisers. Wish they would have mentioned they were going to take $$ when they launched. Hoping for a refund.

Shame on you!. You abused customers trust. Totally unethical. I want my money back.

Deleted. I deleted the app and installed Adblock Fast instead which is both free and open source (a guarantee that it will remain that way).

Mr Murphy is double dipping. I paid him to stop ads. Now he's being paid by advertisers to allow ads through. I want a refund!

Do not get this app. This app blocks nothing as far as I can see. Don't waste your time.

Does not block ads. "If your adblocker takes money from you in order to block ads, and then takes money from huge companies in order to show you the ads that you paid for it to block, then yes; it’s just using you to erect a tollbooth."

Double Dipping Developer. DO NOT BUY. Sold us this ad block and then charge company to bypass it.

Latest update is TERRIBLE. Started seeing ads recently. Turns out the latest update added "acceptable" ads without my knowledge or consent. And it was turned on by default. Utterly disgusted by this.

Takes Money from Advertising Companies. This app takes money from Advertising Companies to let some ads pass. Totally unethically. I am asking for refund.

Shameful developer. 1) Charges us money to block ads 2) Accepts money to allow some ads back in 3) Justifies it by saying he's trying to save the industry I want my money back, meanwhile app has been deleted

Not so great. Cant access my online bank account with crystal ON so for me it’s useless… I contact the devs but no solution for the moment !

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Abandoned. This app, for all intents and purposes, seems to be abandoned. Do not use it. I regret paying the developer money for this app

Stopped working years ago. Zero updates!. Avoid. The developer hasn’t supported this app in many years. Doesn’t stop anything anymore. Complete waste.

Does a great job. Does a great job. I'm impressed!

Waste of money. Does not block many ads.

Garbage. Has been allowing TONS of ads through lately. Sites reported for having active ads don't appear to ever get their ads blocked.

Not have been blocking some ads, for ads money. Very strange app or developers, they work for ads

Doesn’t block ads. Don’t buy doesn’t block any ads

No update for iPhone x and forward. No update for iPhone x and forward. Loved the app but there has not been an update in so long

Works great. Worst every penny! Great app

Crystal link to Twitter. This app not only did not function as Malware, it installed “X” on my iphone. Ingregious and repetitive ads sold and promoted by Google were and-are—continuous. This app is a rip-off!

Takes Bribes to Allow Ads. More and more ads show with every update . Disgraceful

Works well!. Works very well for me.

Unresponsive. I have called out three sites that are loaded with ads and even videos and no clean up/pot has ever happened.

Doesn't work. Don't waste your money, it does nothing! I'm deleting this app off of my phone.

Very inconsistent. Seems to have diminishing capacity. Fewer and fewer sites are blocked since first installed. Also difficulties after updating software on iPad.

Amazing. 10 outtta 10

No longer works as of Jan, 2021. The app doesn’t load, or block ads anymore

Don’t work at all. Nothing blocked as far as I can tell. Web browsing on my iPhone is literally impossible.

Unacceptable ads. The acceptable ads option is falsely advertised. It's on by default.

Does not block all ads. Developer use to block all ads, now they are whitelisted

Crystal is going to start allowing ads while making even more money off it it. Dean Murphy is charging advertisers money to start allowing ads on our device. This is the worst thing ever. Instantly deleted. Sellout!

Worked for one day. Don't spend your money on this - it does not work.

Has Worked. Very pleased with outcome.

Total crap. I purchased crystal with one objective in mind. To get rid of ad choices on my iPhone when using Safari. It does not work

doesn't support ios10.2. just updated from ios9 to ios10(latest) and now crystal doesn't work at all for adblocking. very frustrating and disappointing. doesn't seem like their team worked on a ios10 update at all.

Not performing. As of July 7, 2019 the app has not been updated in two years. Should be removed from the App Store

DO NOT BUY- intentionally lets some ads through!. Developer has publicly stated that he will allow some ads through if they pay to be whitelisted.

Works on revcontent and taboola ads. Finally found a blocker that rids my life of revcontent and taboola. Thank you.

Get what you Pay 4. Get what you pay for 99 cents gets you No Blocking. I am still getting unwanted adds pop up

Useless. This so called blocker does not block anything it is a total waste

Does not work. App does not block ads. At all. Not worth your money. Skip.

No longer blocks ads. No longer works

Great. Works fine

This is an awesome app.. It blocks all the stuff I want to see.

Totally broken. Blocks every single website now

Doesn't seem to work. I checked all the reviews before I downloaded this app and put my settings to block all. I can't tell any difference as I'm still getting those sly pop ups I despise.

Not Working. It doesn’t work anymore.

Zed. It doesn’t work! Hasn’t blocked one single ad! Sorry, most likely a scam!

Not compatible?. Tried to download on an iPad with iOS 10.3.3 and receive a not compatible with this device message. However it downloads fine on my iPhone 6 with iOS 10.3.3. What's up?

Please update it’s been a year. Some websites don't look right when using the ad blocker. Please update the general functions of the app

Adds are killing me.. Not doing what I thought it would do, block adds. Adds are still getting through.

Doesn't work. Doesn't work. Ads still load. Don't buy. Would not recommend. Waste of 99 cents.

No more 'acceptable ads'. Please don't sell out

It does somewhat work. ...but it doesn't work well and it is picked up by ad block detecting pages like Forbes.

Same. Still getting ads nothing was changed liars

Sellout - No longer blocks ads. This application used to do a decent job at blocking ads. Not anymore. My favorite pages are now overrun with ads.

Allows Ads. "Acceptable" ads are turned on by default. One star.

Long gone. Was good while it lasted. Looks like the app and website have been abandoned

Ads. Getting a couple pop up ads everyday. I’ve seen a lot of “Here’s a free gift card from______.” Using safari and latest iOS.

Abandonware. No longer being updated...

Crystal Adblock – Block unwanted ads! App Customer Service, Editor Notes:

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon. New features added: Added user on-boarding screens. Support your favourite websites by whitelisting them. We've also included a Safari Extension for quick & easy whitelisting ;) Also includes Acceptable Ads, an optional feature to show your support for better advertising. Graphics have been overhauled across the app so it has a more pleasing aesthetic. Also I rewrote the sync engine to be more efficient and less error prone. Enjoying Crystal? It'll be great if you could leave a rating or review :) This is only a teaser of what's to come ;)
