Mpls native - Perfect during bad weather
This is Minneapolis. It snows. It rains. It gets very cold. Who wants to walk down to the street-side payment machine (if you can find it) and stand in the rain or snow or cold while navigating a menu with your gloves on? Or, worse yet, wait until the person in front of you at the payment machine figures out how to use it? This easy-to-use app lets me just pull into a parking space, stay in my warm & dry car, bring up the app, enter the space number and length of time I want to park there, and start it. What could be easier? And if I run over the scheduled time period, it texts me a warning and I can extend the period right from the app - wherever I am. No need to go back to the car. If I forgot where I parked, it even shows me on a map! If a 25 cent transaction fee scares you away, don’t bother with the app. But it’s a trivial charge to save time and stay warm and dry for me.
D Charles - Great App
I love this app. It works perfectly. I had to laugh at the reviewer who gave it one star because he couldn't remember his own password. I would give the reviewer one star, but I wouldn't blame the app. Then there was the reviewer who complained because there is a $0.25 charge per transaction. If it's too expensive, don't use it, but that doesn't make it a bad app. This app provides a service you cannot get by paying at the meter. You do not need to return to the meter to add more time. Very nice if you've gone to dinner and underestimated how long it would take. Just add 15 or 30 minutes with a few clicks while seated at dinner. Tell me that isn't worth $0.25.
LGriebs - Useful, however.... TERRIBLE BATTERY PERFORMANCE
I used this app recently and it is improved user experience from previous versions, however after I paid for my parking spot, I noticed my phone battery was drastically dying! Like losing 5% per minute (not great when you’re out, already low battery, and need your phone)...
I know it is this app’s fault because I first closed all my other apps and saw no change. Once I closed the mpls parking app from running in background though, suddenly my phone was back to holding a charge like normal. LAME... now I can’t see the countdown or extend time because I’m at 5% battery life and not risking it!
I hope the developers see this and can figure out how to stop the app from using so much battery! Clearly something is constantly refreshing or something... The product team needs a better QA team to catch stuff like this, so the users don’t lose battery due to app performance.
PedanticDumbass - Works when meter machines do not
I can’t think of a reason to use this app other than staying out of pouring rain or being confronted with a parking meter pay box that refuses to work.
I arrived 30 minutes early for my clinic appointment, parked in a metered spot, and found that the pay box did not work. I watched two other customers have the same problem I did. Remembering that I could pay at any box, I tried again around the block. And again at a third, fourth, and fifth pay box. All failed in exactly the same way.
I called 311, as suggested on the outside of the box. On hold with 8 people ahead of me. I gave my report, including the pay box number, and was told I could download this app to pay. By this time, I was late for my appointment, and had to walk a couple of blocks back to my car before I could continue registration. Having done so, I got to experience the joy of paying extra to feed a meter that refused both my credit card and my coins.
NV2012 - This app has come a long way!
I’m amazed by how much you guys continue to update this app. Today it’s very efficient and super easy/fast to use. Tons of payment options which is very convenient (especially when you’re in a rush and don’t have time to pull out a card and manually enter all the numbers).
What’s also nice is you get a timed warning before it expires. So while you’re still at dinner or at a meeting that’s running over time, you can simply extend the parking time rather than running out to the meter in person.
One thing that would be a nice addition is to have an option to view pricing. Also maybe a notification or start up display for holidays/days where parking is free.
Continue the good work!
mitchard - Mostly great
This app is a huge convenience for anyone who parks in mpls pay zones, but has a few bugs that have existed for a little too long. I’ve seen the first mentioned in other reviews - once every few days the app will crash and sign me out, which is not a huge deal, but will also forget all of my saved cars, payment information and favorited parking zones. The only fix I have found is a hard reset of the device.
The app also shows every parking zone at the same location on the map (somewhere around Washington and 3rd downtown), meaning that the “Find My Car” option always leads the user to that location. For me not a problem, but for a first time user this could be intensely frustrating.
1823374 - Oy
The prior version of this app was wonderful. It was really intuitive and functional. The new version is a disaster. No. It aspires to be a disaster. I can’t get it to ID the parking spot number that starts the process. I’ve deleted the app and reloaded it, spent time on help, prayed to the parking gods and nothing happened. Don’t try to change your default vehicle. That’s expressly forbidden by the app. I’m now back to parking, finding change and fuming at the developers that couldn’t leave well enough alone, test what they did or provide just a little support for us worthless users. But, the icing on the cake is that this is the only app that the city offers. Yay Minneapolis. Yay developers. Please give me a human to help me with this. I promise not to yell no matter how much I want to.
cheezorg - Very stable now
Latest version is stable - great job on the latest improvements. I haven’t seen any of the sign out issues from previous versions. I’m giving it 4 stars for the utility it provides, mainly the timer and the ability to add time remotely.
Still not a fan of getting 3 separate emails from them every time I park, and the transaction fees feel exorbitant when you just need to stop somewhere for 15 minutes. Using the app is not that much faster than paying a meter, unless there’s a line at the meter.
Dbrauer - Never fumble at a meter station again
Essential app if you park a car in Minneapolis. Type in the meter number from inside your car, avoiding that dismal experience when you're stuck behind someone who can't operate the meter station. Get warnings when your meter is about to expire, extend time on the same meter. Well worth the 25¢ per use fee.
Mallwitt - Works well when it works
The app works well when it works. That said, the new version has one of the best examples of how not to design a user interface I’ve seen in a while. Options that force more decisions than are necessary, excessive prompting, and functions that invariably have issues if the server response is not *just* right. Also, your parking history and expiration notifications may or may not work (hint, local timer/alerts guys, not server push).
TCtronic - Server down can’t log in
Don’t count on the app to work. Nothing worse than finding parking during the snow emergency rules, only to have an app that doesn’t work. NOTE: If you are unable to log into the app, try from the web browser on your phone. Click the help button and you’ll eventually get there.
Hippie guy - Parking
Paying for parking through the app is very easy and convenient. Was running late for our reservation so I paid for parking while walking to the restaurant. Our meal took longer to eat than I had paid for so I opened the app, extended my parking time and was good to go. Overall paid parking experience made easy.
Mplsparking - No Response from Support/Pymt Methods failing
I have loved this app. Used it for three years. No problems. As of Aug 15th my saved payment method don’t default in. I add in PayPal. Next day I can’t use PayPal. Only way I can pay is to delete the payment method so it can be added at the time I am parking. Very annoying! I send in a support ticket in Aug 16th. Heard nothing. No updates are available. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing. Tired of the app. Whatever was added in the latest release needs to be fixed ASAP.
It’s now been a half of a month. No fix. TERRIBLE!!! Can I give a negative rating?
rotetrixie - Don't forget your password
It works great until you forget your password. If so, you are up the creek. I've tried everything and can't get help from the vendor at all. I can't register with a different mail account because it only allows one account per phone number. The app has some serious bugs that need to be resolved for forgot password function by text using the mobile phone number and the reset by email function. I've emailed their support address and I guess my message goes into a black zen desk hole. Customer service is an F.
amandyypoooo - Parking downtown
I love having the option to fill my meter via phone, rather than running outside to put more money in. I also like seeing a real time counter of how much time I have left. Very awesome app! I also live in Minneapolis and am a frequent meter parker, so this app is very necessary for a city person like me.
haveone - Make locations findable
The app is decent. The new release is better than the old one. But you need to do ONE THING, and one thing only. Catalog the parking spots and make them findable in the app for when I get to my desk and have forgotten what spot I parked in but know it was the second one from the intersection on the east side of the street. PLEASE. Also give me the ability to find open parking spaces using the app.
Swerlspice - Trouble Adding Payment Methods
I generally enjoy using this app but for the last 2 months or so it has become unusable for me. It prompts me to add a payment method even though I have 3 payment methods already stored. If I do try to add another method, it only allows me to add the types I don’t already have in use. They aren’t in use bc I don’t use them (Visa Pass and Master Pass).
Bc I can’t pay via the app, I can’t use the app, which makes it unusable.
MplsHeart - No more running out to plug the meter!
This app rocks my world. No more quarters, no more searching for the pay station, and no more running to plug the meter. This app reminds you when your time is almost up; you can add time remotely. It even helps you find your car at the end of the night. Love!
Cloudy_Pants - Really great app
There are a lot of typical junk reviews below.
My experience couldn't be better: rolled up, entered parking spot number, entered how long I wanted to park and that was it. App sent a few useful reminders as my session was about to expire.
Happy to pay the trivial fee if $0.25 for how easy this was.
50words - Convenient but Unforgiving
While it’s much more convenient to use this app, it also encourages expensive mistakes. If you entered the wrong space number or selected the wrong vehicle, there is no way to correct your session. You just have to pay again. That can be pretty expensive when you’re parking downtown. And as far as I can tell, there is no way to request a refund.
draft a review? - Easy to set up, difficult to remove
Downloading and setting up my account in order to use was pretty straightforward. However, when I attempted to remove my payment method since I only needed to use it while visiting over the weekend I found there is no way to remove a credit card. There is also no way to remove a vehicle if there is only one vehicle added. This is poor ux in my opinion.
MPR lover - Trouble adding credit card for payment
Great app, but occasionally credit card info disappears and there is no option to re-add that card without using Apple Pay, Visa Checkout, Masterpass or similar platforms. A big pain - please fix so simple credit / debit card addition is always an option!
DeanH. - It works!
There’s very little else that I care of in a parking app beyond two simple things that this app does well: first, it needs to work. Secondly, it Hass to work easily and intuitively so that I can figure it out on my own when I’m in a hurry. Well done Minneapolis parking app!
bikefighter - Is not optimized for customer service ease.
I’m often frustrated with this app because it makes it unnecessarily difficult. I just went to a game with my brother, offered to pay for parking and paid $24. Then realized I typed his license in wrong. The solution? Pay $24 again with the correct license plate number. Support was no help, even on the phone. If I had paid at the machine on the street the license number would have been irrelevant.
alexa202020 - Defaults to different car
I have a reset my default car, and reset default payment several times and they never stick this thing has charge me for the wrong vehicle and wrong card multiple times it is so frustrating. Have to double pay. When it works, it’s great. When it resets what I originally entered, it’s more frustrating than the street machines (which is saying a lot).
chamber orchestra - Mpls park app
Most of the time the app works well. There are times such as this morning , that it stalled when I entered the number of the parking space- and was quite frustrating and consequently made me late to work. I wish it would be more dependable.
not a jim - Map never displays correct location.
This worked great the first time I used the app, but stopped working recently. When I enter my parking number, the location shown on the map doesn’t match where my car is parked. I haven’t used it since this started happening because I’m worried i will get a ticket. I am not sure if it’s good enough to trust the number I entered, or if the app is paying for the (random?) location shown on the map.
umbrella521 - Parking App
This parking app is super convenient! It’s especially convenient in the winter when no one really wants to spend any more time outside than needed. Just saves you the inconvenience of having to find the pay machine. Just super convenient nice have.
apple pay doesnt work - Enter your cc info, Apple Pay doesn’t work
Very convenient, although I was lead to believe in my app that Apple Pay would work for parking but it did not. Therefore, I ended up spending a great deal of time entering my cc info once parked in a spot.
Kiet T - Excellent app. Need options
The app works great! However, I wish that there’s an option to change the license plate after you paid for parking. Sometimes, I forgot to change to the correct license plate before paying, and I ended up pay for one parking spot twice.
flooring installer - Map location
I am currently working downtown new construction. All the meters around me are 4 hr or 2 hr max. I thought I would download the app so I don’t have to leave to put $ in the meter? But when I enter the space number it pops up on the map as a different location than where I am parked ??
driabin - Error message
The app worked great... the first time. Ever since it gives me the error message “Check Network Connection. We cannot connect to the network.” I have tried resetting it, resetting my phone, hard resetting my phone, uninstall and reinstall, nothing changes the message. Then my friends sitting next to me open and and use theirs flawlessly. I’m sure it works great but not for me.
smileywyly - Saved me so much!
I work in a hospital and some nights you just can’t leave on time. I used to get a pile of tickets within a few months. Now I can just add extra time to my parking while I’m still working!
Bernard Smiff - Great parking, easy app
I may have been very fortunate, but I have always been fortunate to be able to park very close to my destination. The app makes it so easy to pay for the parking. I truly highly recommend this app.
Cashleydubs - Paid to park and still got a ticket
I paid to park for a doctors appointment and still came out to a ticket. I’m out the $2 I paid and over $40 for a ticket. Now the only way to contest the ticket is to go wait downtown. Very unhappy with this app! Will not assist you at all if you get a ticket during a paid session. I have a screenshot showing I still had time left and the ticket time and they still wouldn’t help me. Deleting now!
lostparker - Easy to use
This application is easy to use. However, when I used the “find my car “feature it led me to the wrong location.
NLForbes - Cannot change default payment method
I added a new credit card number , deleted an old credit card number that was the default payment method. Now ApplePay is listed as the default and I cannot change the default to the new credit card number. I called for Help, the person did not know how to change the default payment method. Frustrating and silly.
Triptophane - Parking works
Glad Minneapolis choose these folks to work with. App is simple and flexible. Other apps have had me searching for the pay stand they are so difficult to use.
AngieTheHiker - Great app for Minneapolis
Super easy to set up. Very quick to pay the meter. Plus it gives notification when the meter will expire! Thank you City of Minneapolis for creating this app! 💥
ddc64 - Too cold
It’s freezing outside, I was trying to go to Warby Parker and I had to set up the app, create an account, enter car information and enter payment infor. I just want to park and run in! I can’t feel my fingers. Can’t you have a meter that can both except above for longer stays and drop in a couple of quarters for quick trips? Think about it for cold MN winters.
Slien1972 - Convenient but lousy map locations
I used this today and though it was super easy to pay to extend my parking time, the map was so inaccurate. I parked in the St. Anthony Main area but the map said my meter was on the other side of the river. I had to just hope I didn’t get ticketed. If you fix the mapping location of your meters, this would be a great app!
RammerB - Slow and unresponsive but works
Just set the app up and, boy howdy! Is it slow. Slow to refresh. Slow to respond. It took over 20 minutes to try and re-up my parking meter. Ended up doing it online and not from the app. Hopefully, this is due to it being freshly installed. Also, hopefully I don’t have a parking ticket on my windshield.
jeremyw - Alarms are gone?!?
Hey this new update seems to have killed or removed the audible alarms! Why?? Can you not simply use the phone’s alarms? 95% of the time there is NOTHING audible! Crap. Awful way to support your users.
Also I find the new interface less intuitive than the old one. The time options are placed close to the bottom of the screen (ie: where your thumb is) but they are way too small.
Top doen, audio on - Super convenient
Being an infrequent visitor to Mpls, I hate fumbling through paying the parking meters, this app makes it SUPER convenient and easy to park. I especially appreciate the reminder to feed the meter.
Danuhandlit - Zero help recovering password
This app has ZERO technical support. My wife set my password and of course couldn’t remember which one she used. After numerous attempts to login I got locked out. Reset password email never shows up, never get any response from emailing customer service, can’t even start over and register with a different email because it recognizes my phone number. Complete garbage.
Mesfin Negia - Great when it works
This is great app when it works , very frustrating when it fails - which of 60% of the time. It keeps asking me to put a different payment method although I did have several options . I had to Dewey all payment methods and add again
Tony Webster - Obnoxiously overcomplicated
Paying for parking should be as simple as entering the spot number and using Apple Pay. 10 seconds. Instead, this app forces you to create an account, has complex password requirements, you have to enter your vehicle information, you have to manually enter your payment information, etc. It’s like they’re trying to make it as cumbersome as possible.
Theresasc13 - Still got a $45 ticket
I parked downtown and the app would only let me pay till 5:59pm saying it was the max time allowed, which was 47 minutes, in a two hour spot.
Assuming I was good I went to a friends for dinner and left at 9:15pm finding a $45 ticket on my car window. Come to find out the end paid parking time in that spot was 10pm.
Will never use this piece of junk app again.
lissy_marie - Frustrating
Used to be a great app but I canNOT get it to function smoothly any longer. EVERY single time i try to start a parking session, it says to add a payment method even though I have at least 3 payment methods loaded. Therefore, I cannot move on to the next screen to start the session. Very glitchy and unresponsive. A frustrating experience but no alternatives at the time 🙄
Havenhill - Terrible app, no customer service
I tried using the app almost 2 weeks ago. I get an error message “InvalidCastException”. I contact customer svc, they send an email saying they would get back to me ASAP. I never heard back. 5 days ago I contacted them again, still no response. I’ve rebooted and also deleted the app and reinstalled. Nothing. No help. Unusable app for me, yet I need to park in Mpls. Frustrating!!!

@MinneapolisSnow Hi — your link is broken. New to MPLS and have no idea what this means/if my street has a parking ban.
Have you considered moving to the suburbs?
@lieholepiehole How often do ramps need to get redeveloped? Came to MPLS from Chicago/Seoul/Los Angeles and they’re cash cows in all those cities.
They become even more valuable as surface lots and street parking are reduced as you’ll never be able to convince everyone to use transit.

@nonewtaletotell @SuzieQ_Mpls Plus they have parking out back for employees
@SerafinaScheel Jurors get one of these vouchers for 2 free rides. Obv not enough. People that don’t need them are supposed to “donate” them. Typically in DT mpls, jurors have to pay for parking. It might just be a Covid thing that they don’t have to for this or that the policy recently changed
Janne K. Flisrand
Related: can anyone refer me to a Mpls clinic with usable bike parking for primary care with (not man) doctors, or for physical therapy?
@janneformpls I like the concept. An complication could be, a business might lease space where a property owner provides parking like a business that rents in a strip mall/commercial building-how could MPLS required a business to pay for a workers transit? Bike parking should be an easy win
Janne K. Flisrand
Hypothetical local Mpls policy question: *could* the city legally require that if a business provides free car parking, they must also provide free secure bike parking and transit tokens?
Report of disturbance in the Family Dollar parking lot, 18th and Nicollet.
911 caller thinks 3 males in the parking lot are giving each other body piercings.
(Note to self: Put this in new Mpls tourism slogan list)
@IDoTheThinking I've always had a car but I've taken aBRT when I could drive to a suburban shopping mall, to a park etc because can let someone else drive and good around on phone and can drink and take bus and even parking at mall a hassle. In Mpls/StP, aBRT increases ridership 30%, so appeals
@aaronklemz Over a year ago I was on my bike downtown MPLS. A pickup next to me rolled down their window and asked if there was any place to park. There were open metered spots right behind us. I pointed out nearby parking structures, and they seemed annoyed.
I think they wanted free?
