The worst charging company.. Update: the app is now overcharging my sessions and calculating charges incorrectly. How is this even legal? As a Tesla owner, I am spoiled by how easy it is to use superchargers. However, I do use other chargers at times, including ChargePoint, SemaConnect, EVGO. With one exception - I’ve never been able to set up and use blink chargers. A lot of their chargers are in underground parking with no phone reception. That wasn’t a problem because I could use someone else. Recently, SemaConnect in my building has merged with blink, and the pain begins. After trying many times, I simply cannot even login or register with blink. With the merger, they essentially destroyed a well run company and a functional app, with a piece of junk put together by people who doesn’t know how to build software.
To invasive; too many obstacles. Even though the charge station was equipped with tap to pay, Blink required me to use this app (despite there being icons on the station to the contrary). The app would not accept Apple Pay. It required me to manually enter all of my billing information and credit card information. It would not accept auto fill from iOS for either of those things. This was confusing and led to a very long time to get started charging. Frustrating experience, but I’m fortunate it worked eventually and that I wasn’t stranded. Even saying that, though: “not stranded” is a sad point of comparison.
Account button doesn’t work.. I’ve called and spoken with customer support and the experience has dropped from below 1 star. The chargers near me that are blink don’t work. The app is buggy, customer service seems to be as unhelpful as possible. Account Button doesn’t work. It doesn’t allow auto populate and have keyboard shortcuts for my name and address and I have to type everything out. I’m not sure how to create an account outside the app and i can’t create one inside the app because it doesn’t seem to work. I’m surprised this hasn’t been fixed yet because there doesn’t seem to be a way to use a public station outside the app and I can’t create an account.
Donna Was Great!!!. I just got an electric vehicle and am not familiar with how to charge. I ended up in Vermont with a low charge. My vehicle referred me to a Blink station. When I got there I discovered that the two fast charge machines weren’t working. I downloaded the Blink Appointment thinking that might get them to work. It didn’t. But I got a number to call and leave a message. An operator named Donna called me back. Donna was WONDERFUL!!! She was so patient. She stayed on the line with me for half an hour!! She was wonderful. She even tried to get the broken machines to work but was unsuccessful. This was my first time using Blink. Since four of the six chargers didn’t function, I’ll give Blink the company only three stars. But DONNA GETS ALL FIVE STARS!!! Thank you, Donna. You saved me.
Waste of time. Terrible interface, waste of time, never was able to charge. You first have to download the terrible app, only to have to input everything, create an account. At one point the “save and next” button is hidden behind your phones keyboard without being able to lower the keyboard or hit “done”. So good luck figuring that one out. After that was conquered the app takes your cc and charges. Ready to go, right? Wrong. Click button to start charging which takes you to Swipe to start charging which takes you to click button to start charging which takes you to swipe…. You get the idea. Never charged . And hey geniuses at Blink… why not put the charger numbers on the charger?!! Instead you print a sign and tape it to the charger that says “north is 195 and south is 198”. Yeah let me get my compass out to check on that. Then which is 1 and which is 2. Would it be hard to write 198-1 or 198-2 on the machine? It doesn’t matter though, this app is terrible. Had to find a ChargePoint.
1st time user bad experience. I’ve been to different Blink charging stations around the DFW. Only one worked in frisco at the indigo hotel and it charged very slow. The others were at t-mobile corporate offices in frisco and home suites in frisco. Neither worked. The one in front of Boston Pizza in Irving doesn’t work and I was there 48 hrs ago. It still says I’m charging my car there. Lastly the one in Lewisville in Front of Twin peaks works but is slow as well. I am now in the process of trying to close my account as I prefer EVgo, but since the app thinks I’m still charging my car at Boston pizza I cannot delete my account. I just want this to be over with. This experience was a nightmare.
Zero stars. App requires a ton of personal information for no reason. No integration with Applepay, so you have to manually enter all payment info. Then, get this, it requires you to prepay $20 before it will let you charge, regardless of how much you use. You have to maintain a $20 balance. What a joke. I can’t do that for 16 different EV apps. Just let me pay. Apparently you can sign in as a guest and pay more. That still requires your email, HOME ADDRESS and other information. Why? There is so much friction between plugging the car in and getting electricity to flow. They spent all of there money making it harder for a plug connected to a grid to NOT charge. These people are monsters.
Is this a charging service or a bank?. The resort we stayed at had only blink chargers, so I downloaded the app and had to enter a bunch of information. At that point, I found out that you have to prepay $20 to blink before you can use the charger. It takes about $3.00 to fill up my car’s battery. So, the rest of that money would just sit with Blink until I’m at some other obscure location in the future where blink is once again the only option. No thanks! ChargePoint is so much better. It’s much more commonly available, easier app interface, and it does direct transactions requiring only the amount of money you need at any moment.
Non-interactive UI, Significant issues searching, overall not a great user experience. I have tried using the Blink app a few times, and it has consistently been an extremely negative experience. My main issues with it are: 1) Terrible experience trying to search chargers. It shows my location properly, but is just completely unable to show chargers in my area at all. I have had several instances where I would be standing next to the charger with my location showing up correctly in the app, but when I would hit the Location button it would go somewhere else entirely. In addition, when I manually found the chargers, clicking on the icons would do absolutely nothing, even after clicking and waiting for up to a minute 2) No manual search. Because of the above issues, I tried to manually search for the station by id, but for the life of me could not even pull up the search bar 3) Issues logging in. Trying to create an account was a massive pain. The account button would not work, and I’m pretty sure I hit the login function entirely by luck (clicking the search screen several times in succession)
Bad experience. Had established new account access, w/credit card information saved, via app three days ago. Today, had to establish account information again. Save credit card again. But I was able to charge without loading my account with $20 cash. Then, when charging completed, my credit card was charged, and none of the $20 was used. I WANT MY $20 BACK!!! Additionally, Blink is part of the Blue Oval Network…but that DID NOT WORK…last Friday, or today. Lastly, this Blink Charger was supposedly a fast charger…but I only got 50Kw speed and charging took three times longer than it should have. I plan to never use the Blink system again.
Full of friction. This is more of a review of the overall Blink charging experience which includes the mobile app but is broader than that. It took way too long to create an account when I just simply wanted to charge my car. Why does Blink need my home address for that. Password policy is too backwards to allow modern password managers’ suggestions. And then there is the payment process. How is it still OK in 2025 for companies to carry a prepaid balance instead of charging me for what I used. This mentality is why Tesla is winning the EV game and everyone is left behind. With Tesla Destination chargers I get charged the exact amount (which is much cheaper than Blink) and not end up carrying a leftover balance. Also, the Blink chargers are not numbered, so when I’m looking at 4 chargers I have no idea to know which one I’m about to start. In summary - Blink delivers a 2010 user experience. Tesla lives in the present.
Terrible UX. I installed this app because a lot in my town installed about 10 Blink charge points. It’s 34 degrees out and I want to hook up and get inside. Doesn’t support Sign in With Apple, I gotta stand there and make an account. Except I can charge as a guest so maybe that’s fast, but after I select that it asks every question it would to create an account except for a password. Get to the end of it and it asks again if I want an account, thinking I could just convert all the data I just entered. Nope. Same email, gotta answer everything again. Now I’m really cold. Enter a credit card, have to fish one out of my wallet or copy from 1Password. Can’t just use Apple Pay. Standing in a lot with almost a dozen chargers, and can’t figure out how to start the session. Station has the NFC tap logo but no way in the app to start it with a tap. Eventually find the serial number of my station all the way at the bottom of the list (hint: put the stations plugged in needing to start at the top!) This took way too many steps to sign up and start charging when I just wanted to plug in and get on with it.
Don’t waste your time. I ended up getting a blink card for some reason but unable to create an account using my phone. You cannot use the website because they don’t know how to create a website for you to control your account. It is a corporate useless information posted on web. Don’t waste your time with this company. Their chargers are located in close garage basements with no wireless access. You will be wasting your time and battery driving up their charger. If you manage to access wireless network, good lick making their app work. I just shredded the blink card. I will wait in an EVgo charger rather than driving up to Blink. This is really ridiculous. This people should be charged with criminal neglect for causing unnecessary stress to others. CALIFORNIA cancel their licenses!!
Customer tech support is terrible.. The app won’t let me terminate my last session even though the session was completed weeks ago. As a result, I am unable to use Blink to charge my car. Nor can I delete my account because the app thinks I am still charging. Tech support is almost nonexistent. The advice so far has been to delete the app and sign in again or turn my phone off and on. Basic. I was told I would be contacted by tech operations. No such luck.
Why is it so difficult?. An EV charging app really only has one job: Let me charge my car with a minimal amount of friction. So when I pull up to the charger and plug it in, why do I have to tap through this app and try to convince it that I am in fact next to a charger, that the charger is available, and that I really would like to initiate the charge? Instead I have to tediously find the charger’s ID, which constantly scrolls through the tiny LCD, and then in an unintuitive way select it in the app to start start the charge? And why does my car know it’s now charging, but the app never acknowledges it? This thing really needs a refresh from a UX perspective. And please let us have a Blink card in our Apple Wallet to just tap the charger to start charging.
Piece of trash; random notifications. Compare to Chargepoint: for ChargePoint I have a card on my iPhone wallet, I hold it in front of the Charge point charger, I wait five seconds, it works. It works every time with no trouble or confusion. To get a blink session started I have to look up the specific charger on a map. If I’m in an area with a lot of chargers, good luck. Once I find it, clicking start charging tells me an error five times in a row. I look on the charger and see it actually is charging. A couple hours after charging ended I get a couple lf notifications saying that my charging session has started. Luckily the billing seems correct. Blink chargers are probably fine, but this app is total garbage.
I don’t believe the rating average. I just downloaded your app. There are blue and green dots indicating the charging stations, but no legend indicating what the different colors mean. An easy to find legend would be useful. There are also other icons, such as “lock” symbols. Maybe they are intended to be intuitive, but if so they are only intuitive in the minds of the developers. Again, an easy to find legend or help reference would be useful. Maybe there are other symbols or features we don’t know about as well… I am concerned that virtually every review over the past several months are negative (1 star). This makes me fear I made a mistake investing in Blink. All of the responses are a cut and past of the same apology, which is worse than no response at all. A common complaint, besides chargers out of order and showing as “Available”, is that credit cards and Apple Pay are not accepted. Blink needs to FIX this NOW if you ever expect to make a profit.
Garbage app for a garbage charging network. The app breaks all App Store conventions, so Sign in with Apple, no Apple Pay, it won’t autofill your contact details or credit card details, or help you in anyway whatsoever. If you want to know what apps were like in 2009, this is it. Aside from that, The Blink network rarely works, you don’t know which charger you’re activating because they’re never labeled, and the app insists on your “filling up cash” into the app rather than charging you want you used. It’s like filling up a prepay credit card when you’ve have no credit history or something. Absolute shameful garbage, and we wonder why EV sales are slowing. It’s because of networks like this.
Good, but can improve. The app did not recognize my location, so I could not charge my vehicle. I call the number for helpline. They asked me to type in a SN that was on charging station that was so small I could hardly read it. After many attempts it still did not recognize the SN - and I confirmed SN with the heldesk. Eventually the person said they can start the charging from their side. Why can Blink not add QR codes to their charging stations to scan for identification? Why did I have to try for such a long time before Helpdesk proposed to charge car from their side? Surely the idea is to make charging as sips possible?
Charger not user-friendly. After trying to get a credit card to work for more than 10 minutes, I had to make a call to link for assistance. Their automated system said that the serial number for the system was not correct so I had to call back and speak to a live person. Who spent another 5 to 7 minutes attempting to get the. Charger to work. They did finally get it to start charging however there is an initiation fee to start charging and then the fee was $.70 per kilowatt, which is quite expensive compared to other charging stations. In a nutshell, the charger doesn’t work and it’s very expensive. I will avoid blink altogether, unless a dire emergency.
Glitchy and Unreliable. I have an electric car and rely on charging stations. Blink is a larger purveyor of chargers around Oregon. Their chargers are not well maintained, have put me in a pinch where I have had to drive to nearby cities to use other chargers, and the app is useless. If the point of the application was to tell you that it is having connection issues it would get 5 stars because it tells me this every time I log into it to check my account. The few times it finally connects, the feature in the app I am trying to use, like locating the charger I am at, or to check my account history does not work. I have talked to more agents at Blink to access and use chargers than with the app. One agent finally told me I should get a Blink card connected to my account to use. Hallelujah! This actually works! I don’t have to deal with agents and this app. I would still like to see my account history to have all my receipts but I will just keep using the emails they send. Welcome to 1995, y’all. Email and local card swipe tech is what you get with Blink.
Do they even use the app themselves?. First of all. The app is disabled if you don’t give them access to your location. They don’t need that - just the charger number. Sema connect worked fine without invasive location permissions. I can’t even search without it 🤦♂️ Second, I have have to scroll through a list of 40+ chargers at the charging location to pick the right charger (after getting to the charge site via many taps). Why can’t I just enter the charge stall number? Way less error prone and way faster. It’s many clicks and scrolls compared to the Sema connect app. Terrible experience. Favoriting private access locations doesn’t even work either adding even more taps to getting into a charge session.
Unfair charges. Between yesterday and today I was able to charge my car for the first time using the charger at my condo, and after numerous calls to provide me access to the charge station. I believe it ending charging in the early morning 2-3 am for what I received a text message, awesome. As you can imagine I saw the message when I wake up, and proceed to move the car. Later I receive the invoice with a $15 parking charge. My question to Blink is why, am I suppose to move the car at 2-3 am, who was going to charge the car at that time? Congratulations, you are making more money with unfair charges than the actual charge, but not anymore with me, this was the first and last time I use your chargers.
User unfriendly model. As an ev user I have about 8 apps now, I’m used to it. This is easily the most cumbersome in-effective user flow. The station I was at required an actual physical card provided by blink in order for me to use it. That’s harder for everyone. It’s almost like you don’t want people to use your chargers. I went through all the options I possibly could to charge my car (download app, sign up as member, put in a long list required inputs that shouldn’t be required) only for none of it to work. Called support and they told me the station is decommissioned (no signs anywhere regarding this) and that I can only use a physical card to use that station. I’m going to avoid using Blink stations if I can.
Scam Company. 1.) The cost is insane for a slow level 2 KwH, compared to just fast charging for a few cents more right next door. 2.) The maps function in app is atrocious. It is impossible to select a station until you click on it 10 times to get to the final “zoom” before it becomes selectable. 3) Their physical card is a joke and doesn’t work. At least mine didn’t. 4) They want you to give them $20 in cash before ever seeing if their stuff works. And given plug share reviews are slowing down because of privacy concerns, there is no way to verify if the ones near me even work. Imagine having to give a gas station a mandatory $20 before even seeing if their pump works. What a joke.
Easily the worst charge company to work with. Multiple chargers dead or non functional, to the point it’s barely worth checking for them. On top of that the company is aware of it and couldn’t care less, per their customer support many of these chargers are deactivated by them on purpose and they do not update this status in the app. As bad as EA is at least when they have 1/4 chargers working they are updated on the map. It’s really sad because I never had any problems with SEMAconnect until blink acquired them and now it’s a waking nightmare. Ghost charges, meters reading innacurately (always in their favor) and ten minutes on hold to find out that they did it on purpose and don’t care. I’d rate it lower if I could.
Unable to locate charger in app. After reading a few reviews on the App Store, I see that I should’ve never even tried to use a Blink Charging station. There are hardly any positive reviews in the last couple of years regarding this app. It sounds like anybody reading this should steer clear and go somewhere else. I tried utilizing the blink charging network. It was at a hotel that I was staying at. It was very clearly labeled a blink charger and had a blink customer service number on the front of it. However, inside of the app, I was unable to locate the charger, And therefore was unable to activate the charger. I had to utilize another location, this is the first time I’ve heard of blink and it did not go well.
Minor issues to be fixed. Few minor issues to be fixed, tried adding my credit card from 1Password extension and the autofill filled in the numbers out of order. Copy and paste finally worked, but then it was grouped incorrectly for an AMEX card so it still looked off. Also, not sure if it’s the charging station or the app, but I can only search by serial number for this particular station and I can’t add it to the favorites. Lastly when starting the charge immediately I get a text saying it ended though it’s still charging.
Inaccurate data. Painfully slow customer support.. Tried to charge, would not deliver energy. Called 5 times. Disconnected 4 times, finally got an agent after more than one hour. During the call the charger started working, the agent acted as if it had been working all along. Circular arguments. She asked me to unplug and replug, which I did. Now it claims to be charging, but the app states that zero power is being delivered. It seems like Blink is trying to discourage people from using EVs. This is the worst experience I have had in over 10 years of EV ownership. I will use alternatives to Blink whenever feasible. The only reason I am trying to use Blink today is because it’s the only option at the hotel where I am staying.
Buggy & Unresponsive. I don’t normally write app reviews, but I just want to highlight how bad this application and the services offered by Blink are. The chargers offered by Blink rarely work. But, when they do, they’re good for maybe 1-2 charges on the charger. After that they end up freezing and being unresponsive. Now onto the app, which is hardly functional for anything other than using a map and adding money to your balance. I’ve had issues where after charging sessions my session doesn’t actually end and other folks can use my session and rack up my bill. The UX of the application is poor at best, offering little indication to any user interactivity. If you attempt to submit an issue in the app you’ll likely find that you get no confirmation, no error, or any indication about the submission of the issue you’ve tried to submit. Then you’ll attempt to call in and resolve the issue only to find that your “3 minute wait time” actually takes 20 minutes. Great, you’ve finally got ahold of someone, hope is on the way! Except you will soon learn that you’ve waited 20 minutes only for them to “try” to reboot the system unsuccessfully and then be told that you’re being transferred to the “technical team” which will result in you being transferred to a phone number which never answers and can’t receive any voicemails because the mailbox is full.
What a rip-off!. Went on a road trip from NJ to VA and a blink charger was the only one available. It charged me $2 per kWh which came out to $90 for a full charge! I understand the price of electricity varies across the country but $2 per kWh is actual highway robbery (pun intended). Also the app only lets you pay in $20 increments so for an $81 charge, you pay $100 and they hold the $19 in your account indefinitely. Instead, what I suggest is leaving a negative balance on your account until the next rare occasion you need blink. I don’t understand how gas pumps have got it right where you just pay for whatever gas was dispensed. Why can’t EV charging be the same? And without charging 16x the national average price of electricity?
Lag between app and charger. This is my personal experience, which has been nothing but frustration. At this time, I would NOT recommend using this app or the blink stations. Just go to nearby chargepoint or evgo stations. I’ve been using a private blink station in my apartment that charges $1 per hour of parking for up to 5 hours. There has always been a lag between me unplugging my car and the app recognizing that the charging was discontinued (up to an hour at times, and thus being overbilled). My biggest frustration recently has been that I was charged $12 and $8 for charging less than 2 hours each of these times. I have made multiple inquiries by app and also by email, but these problems have not been addressed, and I have not been refunded.
Unable to charge. Former SemaConnect charger station at my apartment building. Blink app won’t let me input model of car so i can’t register to pay for the service. Terrible customer service. Unfortunately i don’t know what to do to get any Blink service. Update: Blink app is just awful. Doesn’t work on occasion, pauses charging, very slow to get to my saved/favorited chargers. Currently i can’t even charge because the app keeps asking me to approve terms and conditions every time i navigate to a different location in the app, then it just times out and essentially is useful. Cant get ahold of anyone. Terrible customer service. If i could I would definitely stop using Blink, unfortunately my apartment building used Blink so I’m stuck…
Not good at all. This app was not ready for prime time. Whatever they did, they messed it up so bad that a large portion of their customers can’t charge. I can’t charge because the new app lost my account. I can’t set up an account because when I enter in information it doesn’t save it. It won’t let me get past a screen that makes me choose the make of my vehicle which is completely irrelevant. I put in credit card information and it deletes it. I spent an hour and a half with four different customer support technicians with no resolution whatsoever, it’s been three days I sincerely hope they get there ship together soon. I have a low range vehicle and rely on the chargers at my work.
First time did not go well. I tried to use a Blink charger with just my credit card. The phone message said there was a problem charging my credit card so it failed yet the standard fee of $20 hit my credit card. So I downloaded the app and tried to search for the charging station but it did not come up either on the map, by typing in the location name or typing in the serial number. I eventually tried customer service. Pressing 0 does not get you to customer service (shows how much they care). I pressed 0 10 times and eventually it switched me over to an outsourced operator who managed to get the charger to start. 30 minutes of my life I’m not getting back.
Disappointing, Sick of loaning Blink $$. I’ve been using Blink stations and the app for more than 5 years. Originally the app was stable and worked well. Now, more often than not, I am standing in the rain at a charging station, trying to get the app to work, but it frequently crashes. Or it will tell me to plug in to begin charging, and then, when I do, it does not start charging but gives an error message, sometimes charging me $1.70 for keeping the charger plugged in after it had “finished charging” – even though it never started charging! So incredibly aggravating. And then there is the pre-loading of $20 if the Blink account balance falls below $10. So I am loaning blink $20 interest free until I dip below $10 balance again and they charge me another $20! I've also had the experience of pulling up to a blink station that does not appear on their network map and so it doesn't recognize where I am and won't charge! This happens at my workplace at a major Oregon hospital! Unbelievable. Anytime I can use Chargepoint or any other charger besides Blink, I do. Blink Stinks.
Confusing first experience compared to ChargePoint. After using ChargePoint, where everything is very simple and convenient — you can even add the charger to Apple Wallet and just tap your phone to start charging — my first experience with Blink was quite confusing. When I first arrived at a Blink charger, the station appeared to be out of service, but there was no clear indication on the machine itself. It didn’t show whether it was working or not, which made it difficult to understand what was going on. The app was also not very intuitive — it wasn’t clear how to start a session or how the payment process worked. Eventually another charger became available, and the person who had been charging there kindly showed me how to use it properly. I was able to charge successfully, and the charging itself worked fine. However, my first impression of the Blink charging experience was confusing and not very user-friendly. I believe that after the second or third time it probably becomes easier, but for a first-time user the process is not as simple and smooth as with ChargePoint.
Thankfully I’ve physical card instead. Since this review they got their app in order insofar as it’s functionally useful as before (and nicer UI etc.). No hang up on being required by having no way of re-identifying yourself. If you have an account, email login & credentials get you back to your account as a funding source for charging & no special requirement for a physical RF card to start every charger. Changed from highly generous 2stars to now 4stars for functionality (eventually) Resolved Review post-new app rollout is below for context: “Briefly worked fine for me after its roll-out a wk ago or so but since then it no longer has my acct info & (like other reviewers note) I’m unable to complete the sign-in process (again) because it will not let me proceed past an empty set of choices for vehicle make. Have alerted humans on the always helpful customer svc side of things & hopefully it get resolved soon for right now the app is useful only as a locator of stations on a map”
Decent. The app is fine. I don’t have any major complaints, but their UI generally takes way too many taps to accomplish simple goals. I want to be able to pull down to refresh the status of chargers. I want to be able to get notified when a charger becomes available, had this feature for years in chargepoint. It’s also beyond me why a recent app update split up “favorites” from “private access” — the two are not mutually exclusive. I want to come to favorites and see the status regardless of whether it’s private access or not. It just amounts to an extra step I have to do to check my work charger in an already clunky interface.
Didn’t think it could get worse.. The old app constantly gave me the generic “Couldn’t connect to blink” error all the time, even if my balance had just run out or my billing info needed updating. The new app is NOT off to a great start. The app itself did NOT update, I had to delete the old app and reinstall it manually. Now I can’t even log in with my Blink account. I had to “Charge as a guest,” then re-enter all my billing info and then the map screen froze and wouldn’t let me do anything. I killed and re-launched the app and was able to select a charger, but the charger stayed on its idle screen and gave no indication that it was ready to charge until AFTER I plugged in my car. I was hoping for big improvements with this update, but first impression is that it’s even worse than before, and that’s setting the bar VERY low.
Still not enough info. *No app indication of charge status ongoing *No symbol key to indicate what blue, green, or a lock key indicate with any clarity *Consistently told me a charger was unavailable when it wasn’t in use Usually we trickle-charge at home but due to circumstances we decided we’d run our Leaf next door to use a Blink charger. The app indicated there was 0/1 available. There are two chargers but one was offline. Thing is, after waiting 90 minutes, I took the car over and saw no car charging. Fine, whatever. Hooked up and started charging. Then realized the app tells me nothing about how far along we are in charging. It barely tells me it’s on a charger at all; just a lightning bolt on the map. Other charging network apps tell us how much charge has been dispensed (and how much the cost is so far). Disappointed, especially when these two units had just got back online, now one is offline again and the app had just been updated. I finally unplugged after 90 minutes with no indication of how much had been dispensed, to find my car was at 100%. Why was it still charging, then?
Capitalist hellscape app. In order to charge your vehicle, you have to first give them all of your personal data of course. As if that weren’t enough, you have to deposit $20 immediately into your account as soon as you sent it up. They have a system set up so that if your balance falls below a certain amount it automatically tops up to $20 I withdrawing it from your linked card. If you don’t want this to happen, you have to manually deactivate it in the settings. I went through this whole process only to try to charge at a blink station that was so ungodly slow that I left. I still paid blink 20 bucks and I have $19 left in my account that I guess I have to go use at some blink station because they automatically extracted the money from me when I made an account with them. Just another one of these horrible “services” that is designed to extract as much value from the user as possible.
Atrocious experience. It’s 10:30pm. Your car is running out of charge. You’re trying to go home. You find a Blink charger. You tap your phone, thinking “oh nice I can pay with Apple Pay.” … Wrong. You can only pay with some proprietary Blink card. So you download the Blink App, which makes you go through 10 screens worth of sign up nonsense and manually enter a credit card number before being forced to pre-load $20 onto some strange account in order to charge. The whole user experience is so stupid and so unnecessary it’s enraging. What a waste of time. The product manager in charge of this needs to get a new job. Imagine if you could roll up, tap your phone, start charging. Literally no reason not to except for meaningless vendor lock in. I’m sure many customers just drive away when faced with this whole stupidity. Blink is not living in the future.
Waitlist function needs a lot of improvement. The waitlist function for private chargers could use a lot of improvement. You have like 1 or 2 minutes to accept the waitlist once you get the notification, but no matter what you do the notification will not play a sound or vibrate my phone or Apple Watch no matter what i have my notification volume at. If it isn’t going to give me a proper alert it would be nice to get a text message for the waitlist like it does for stopping or starting charging. There also seems to be problems with the waitlist, where the charger won’t activate for some people at my location. Not sure if this is because if someone accepts the waitlist the charger still shows as “available” in the app until they actually plugged in. But it is very common where we get people plugging in and not being able to charge, leaving their car on the charger for hours in the “connected” state.
Better than the old app but still lame. It’s a step up from the old version of the app but that isn’t saying much. On the plus side, they let you know there “industry leading” technology is caught up to like 2015 instead of 2010. So there’s that. It would be great if you could just tap your phone/watch to start a charging session like the rest of the EV charging stations. Maybe they’ll get there by 2030 🤷♂️ Instead you need to go through a whole process and load funds to your account like a prepaid VISA. The app kicks you out frequently and you need to delete and redownload it to log back in. I only use Blink when it’s my only option.
Borderline scam and incompetent too. 1. No way to ID which charger corresponds to the one on the app. Luckily my guess activated the one next to me so I was able to make the cord reach without moving my car. Starting charging but t really slow. 2. Went to sleep in the Element Hotel wthe chargers are located only to be wakened by a text from Blink that my charge was finished and parking fees would begin if I didn’t move my car to make room for other EVs to charge. I got dressed and went downstairs to fund my car at 66% and no other stall being used. 3. Back to asleep until I received the same text again about 1:30am. I git dressed again and went and moved the car. 4. Minimum to open the account was $20. I just checked the account and see they charged me Over $17, @ $.94 per kWh! Tesla charges $.35 for much faster charging. I texted and emailed these jokers with no reply. I hope Element Hotels dumps them .
Charging App Improvements. I would give the app design a C+. It works, but it could work better. When you first open the app and it starts to charge, it displays the charging port and that is in use. That is a very good design feature. But I found it hard to transition to a button where I could stop the charge before it was 100%. I had need to do that and I have no idea what I ever did to trigger the appearance of a button that let me stop the charge. These controls should be somewhere on the page and very visible to the user all the time I do appreciate the rapid summary of cost and kilowatt hours and the email that tells me my summary charge as well.
The Worst of the Worst. Everything about this company is just wrong. They need to bring on a proper management team so it can be run correctly. You are taking up spaces in areas where other companies could put their chargers instead. As a result, you are ruining peoples first impressions of purchasing EV vehicles when their only options are blink chargers that don’t work. You also need to find a way to let people charge their vehicles without having a smart phone because what if they pull up and both the vehicle and the smart phone are dead? And to call your toll-free number and get an answering machine in this day and age is absolutely unacceptable. Just sell your company to EVgo and let them run it properly.
Text notifications not reliable. It’s simple and a little slow, but it mostly serves its purpose fine. However, the text notifications aren’t reliable. I’ve been waiting for my car to finish charging but never received a notification that it finished (yes, my settings for text notifications are on). In fact, when I unplugged it after noticing it was done (after who knows how long), it didn’t even send me a text notifying me that my charging session ended then either. Not very jazzed about having to pay a parking fee when I’ve been a 2 min walk away in my apartment waiting. It will also sometimes text me erroneously to let me know my car has stopped charging after I plug in. It is always incorrect and my charging session hasn’t stopped.
Starting/stopping charge never works. When using the chargers at my work, I have never had the app work successfully. When you press the button to start the charge, it tells you to connect to ev even after it’s already plugged in. If you wait on the app until the loading circle has completed, it says that the session has timed out. After a few minutes the car will start charging without any indication that it is on the app and only shows that the station is connected. Then exactly an hour after plugging in every time, I receive the notifications that it is indeed charging. There have been multiple occasions where the app tells me my car has finished charging, the status says stopped and occupied, and to move despite my car still being delivered energy. When I go to stop my charge via the app, it doesn’t respond at all and it will only stop if I use my car’s app or physically unplug. On other occasions, I’ve unplugged and it shows that I’m still connected hours after leaving. I’ve used the report issue button and I’ve never gotten any response.

Overpriced Charging. The app is the worst of a bad bunch of EV charging apps and the company does price gouging at their charging stations. Downloaded it to charge my EV on the way back from New Hampshire and it wouldn’t connect to the charger at the location. Used credit card for the charge and the final cost was 5 times what anyone would charge and was 3 times (with less distance) what it would have cost to fill up my ICE vehicle. I wouldn’t recommend using Blink for anything after this experience nor any partners where they are located.
Useless app. Downloaded it today, so I have the “latest version” yet anytime I open the app it tells me I have to update the app however there is no update.
Does not after SemaConnect integration. This is disappointing, the app does launches but it’s blank. Did VW software engineers help with app?
Paiement. Need to get an account and deposit $ amount prior charging. Not practical when on business to claim. Ie: You pre-deposit $40 on your account with commercial credit card but final charged is $35. The receipt does not match the consumption.

Absolutely useless. I couldn’t get the app to accept a credit card. It did not seem to recognize the serial number of thier own charger if the alpha numeric were in lower case. tried to call in and the automated phone assistant actually hung up blaming my phone because it couldn’t recognize the serial number that was entered. I pity the organizations that instal these on their properties. Every single other system that I have used and installed have at least worked.
Unable to add home charger. Called twice for support , I was told I was missing address for billing (doesn’t make sense!) added and no where with the app .. charger is working great .. but regretting installing with poor customer service!
Frustrating app. The app doesn’t take either of my credit cards. After numerous calls to Blink/SemaConnect they still can’t figure it out. Such a waste of time and inconvenience as it’s the only charger in my area.
Can’t start charging. App is useless, entered all my information and then it won’t start a charging session. And I’m not going to call them at 1am to help them debug their garbage. Now these guys have my credit card information, yay. Cost for charging seems ludicrous for low speed too. .25 per kWh plus a parking fee is $1.50 an hour. More expensive than a supercharging at a tenth the speed!
Stop and go. The charging would just stop every hour or and then restart, sometimes on its own and sometimes after touching the blink app.

Harder than it needs to be. First off, at all Blink chargers I’ve been to, there is no indication of which charger is which. It says on the screen to plug in first but once you do this, it takes so long for the app to acknowledge that you’ve plugged in that it times out. But also, you need to plug in to figure out which charger you’re trying to use. It’s just not very smooth. Label the chargers, then we can use the app to start a charge easily.
Slow, no terms and conditions, and charges more money than expected.. Wow what garbage! Trying to search for station in your area takes 10-20 seconds in some cases. If you try to view the Terms and Conditions you get redirected to some random page on their site that is NOT the correct page. Finally, even if you want to try this hunk of garbage, you are FORCED to add $20. WTH!? I want to add maybe $5. There is no way to set the amount you are charged. And dear god you better not turn on auto-refill. Who knows how much they will take? Avoid if possible.
Frustrating Starting Out. A real pain to start out with or resume using. (Blink is not alone in this). Form fields won’t auto populate from info the iPhone already uses. Credit card won’t auto populate from cards on file with phone. I used blink in the past but the app updated and lost all my info. Sign in credentials won’t populate from phone. Credit card photo scanner doesn’t work. Eventually got everything filled in standing out in the rain for 10 minutes, but it should have taken 10 seconds. Also I really want to app to save a virtual card to my apple wallet, but it doesn’t.
Time counted but no charge.. Not sure if station isn’t working or the app is unclear. Started charge and charging time accumulated but zero charging speed and zero charging amount. Tried contacting customer support but only an e-mail address per their website. Tried deleting account but must enter reason why and when type in reply the mobile page design prevents the ability to reach bottom of page to continue. You can either tap one of their canned responses (like ‘I don’t have an ev any more’ ) or give up trying to delete acct. Not OK Blink. People need to know what they’re getting sucked into.
Can’t be counted on. I would t be so annoyed except SemaConnect always just worked - ie the infrastructure Blink bought out. Now, even though I’ve been using the app for a couple of years, it’s asking me for all my information again and will not validate my payment card. If you have to call support, wait times are not always reasonable. Sometimes the chargers have a credit card swipe option and it is nice to have a back up, but I’d rather use the app for tracking all my charging. Charging my EV is not optional, so the app really needs to be more reliable.
Outages - Unacceptable. Blink Charging controls 99% of the chargers in my municipality. As such, I believe they should be held to vigorous standards since they’re providing a basic level of infrastructure. Today, when I attempted to charge, the app wasn’t functional. I called in to manually provide my card and yet it still didn’t work. I spoke to support, who they outsourced to an overseas team and got told that “there’s nothing we can do, we’re in a network outage” If you are maintaining vital infrastructure you should have a plan for when things go awry at headquarters. Redundancy needs to be in place. The fact that blink has none and was unable to provide an Estimated Time of Repair shows how THEY see the business. They see it as a way to squeeze every last dollar out of you, rather than them being an equitable provider of infrastructure. For this, they’ll never earn my business again. Nor will I ever recommend it to my friends.
Simply doesn’t work. The app frequently gives me the feedback “cannot connect to the network“ Uninstall reinstall didn’t help, the latest error is that I just get the title screen and can’t go any further These are the only charging stations at my work, I don’t know how they were swindled into buying these, but I’ve never been able to get one to work successfully. one time I called for customer support, and they told me these stations were not active although I can see them charging other vehicles. Quick poll at work suggest that only about 30% of people have had a successful experience with these stations.
Yet another obnoxious app to charge an EV. The sign up process was absurdly long just to activate the charger, then I find it forces me to fund an account and takes 20$ just to open the account. Why can't I just tap a credit card like a gas pump?? EVs are fun and work fine but this is the problem! Thanks blink for making a charging app worse than electrify America. Edit: To be clear, I am upset about the account based system blink forces. I would prefer to have each charging session billed as advertised directly to my card instead of stealing my money and holding onto it forever without interest until I use a blink charger.
Lacking. They bought out another company/app that offered a virtual wallet card (blink doesn’t, just a physical card). The app doesn’t show you an updated charging/charged status. It does send you an email, but after you’ve gone to unplug and move your car. The email says something like “it’s all charged up, please move your vehicle…” yes, been there done that. Thank you. This would be more helpful when the car reaches 100%. Also customer service has not been helpful. I doubt I’ve ever interacted with an actual person. Step up guys. ChargePoint is miles ahead.
Unreliable and terrible customer service. We have been using Blink chargers and their network for over 2 years now. I cannot recall a single moment in which all 8 chargers were operational. Their network is terrible, the app is useless and extremely annoying, and the worst part, they take ages and ages to reply to us and even try to fix our issues. One time it took TWO MONTHS to fix our chargers and one still didn’t work when we got it back. Now they are broken again. They are a money stealing joke. Please use somebody like Charge Point, never had an issue with them.
Doesn’t work in countries. Downloaded and added money to use while renting EV in Belgium. Wouldn’t let me use any of the blink chargers. Maybe because all my info is American? Idk crappy though. Downloaded specifically to be able to view app to come back to car when it finished charging vs the RFID tag given to me by the rental company. And now I have cash in the app I can’t use. Disappointed to say the least. Was just trying to make sure I could open the spot up when I was done for someone else and now I have wasted money in credits I can’t use.
Charging Station Woes. As someone working in the hospitality industry, it's quite embarrassing when guests inquire about our Blink EV charger. Unfortunately, our charging station consistently encounters issues, such as connectivity problems or the app attempting to charge for the complimentary service. Based on my experience, I would not recommend it to anyone. I called customer service to see if they could help me resolve the issue but they seemed to have made it worse by disabling it for a little while, luckily i was able to reach someone else and they seemed to have fixed the issue
The most useless app. This company made the absolute worst charging station. You have to make an account just to use it. Which charges a subscription on top of the amount they charge to use the charger. They won’t truly allow you to charge as a guest. It takes you several minutes even to input all your information. Because you would think a technologically advanced app would allow you to use features such as Apple Pay or tap to pay. I’ve used many charging stations and this one is garbage. Hopefully, you are not in an area where this is the only option for charging
Doesn’t work. They replied that the issue was fixed which was not, I have to delete and reinstall app every day for it to work. And they said all previous charging history was transferred to the new app but it’s not true. No charging history is available and I was charged for the session that was promised/supposed to be free when they did the transfer. My balance is a mystery now and earlier I could check on the web browser version but now I can’t log in there too. — Old app was bad but it at least worked. This one won’t even log me in and I can’t charge. How hard can that be? I JUST want to log in and check my balance.
Still no Dark mode accessibility support and could be better. DEVELOPER: PLEASE ADD DARK MODE SUPPORT! (And charging connecter availability push notifications) Supporting dark mode in iOS apps enhances user experience by reducing eye strain in low-light environments, saving battery life on OLED displays, and aligning with system-wide user preferences for a cohesive interface. It also demonstrates accessibility and design inclusivity, appealing to a broader audience. ADDITIONALLY, users would benefit from widescreen iPad support, Apple Pay support, filtering ability for completely free charging stations and finally, alerts for when in-use chargers become available.
Update 7.8.23. Update 7.8.23 Working somewhat. Notifies me when I start charging and now charging is working. Old app would automatically notify me when charging was completed. Now alerts me that charging is completed AFTER I unplug my car. Not helpful. Previous review Ican log in, add a credit card, locate charger. But Sema connect card doesn’t work. Blink app does not work. ‘ Something went wrong. ‘Please fix this!
Lacking essential features. App works fine, charging station filters seem to work reliably. That said, it doesn't populate in CarPlay, unlike several other charging apps. It also makes no audio alerts for things like charging complete, wait list updates, etc, and email alerts are 30+ minutes late to arrive. If you're not staring at your phone when your turn comes up, you'll miss your windows to confirm you're still waiting in line to charge.
Probably the worst EV charging app and system. I tried this app last fall and found it clunky and way too eager to take your money. I never found a charger that worked, and never got a refund for the money I loaded into the system when I canceled. I had to use it again this week at a local shopping center. Blink was the only charging options, and signing in as a guest is just as clunky and required many steps before failing to connect. I re-opened my account, adding all the information yet again and loading another $20 (the minimum) into Blink. Still didn’t work; turns out that charger has been broken for weeks. So in short, I’ve spent $40 for an app that can’t connect to chargers that never seem to work. Systems like these reinforce poor perception of public EV chargers. I recommend you avoid this and try some of the other public chargers and apps, if you can.
Bad experience. I am traveling and rented a EV. I have never used a charging station before and assumed it would be fairly easy, so I went to the nearest one. It turned out to be a blink station and half of the 4 stations weren’t working, and other cars were using the working ones, so I drove to the next one. I was having trouble starting the charging process so I decided to contact customer support. The hood music told me it would be 8 minutes. When I was next in line it transferred me to another line and just played annoying music in my ear for 30 minutes. Ugh. What a horrible experience and I will avoid this company/service if possible.
Ridiculous. This thing is freaking ridiculous. It makes you open an account and add a funds to the account before you can even start charging. Imagine walking into a Starbucks and being told that before you can make a transaction you have to download the app, open an account, add $20 to the account and then you can buy a coffee. I own a Tesla and I’m in a rental Volvo C40. Now I understand why people are so hesitant to change to an EV. The charging experience on a Non-Tesla EV is just terrible. Also the charger I was trying to use wasn’t even showing up in the map. At the end I didn’t charge, I just left.
No more. After standing in the garage for 30 minutes and being not able to contact support after spending $20 to pre-fill a card after being not able to connect to the machine and having 3 miles left on my car, I am now allocating time out of my day to write this review because I will never use this application again, if you are building a business where people rely on you for charging and energy have the courtesy to have support available to them or a better phone operating system. I would literally rather my battery die than you use this application again.
Hard to figure out how to charge. The UX of the app is pretty bad overall. It’s not clear how to get from opening the app to starting a charging session. Clicking on a station took my to the L2 chargers despite me clicking on the L3 charger. I washed about 15 minutes just trying to initiate charging because of all the fumbling. And this was the _second_ time coming to this same station just a few days apart. It’s _that bad_. Blink: please make it more clear how to start charging. Please think the whole thing through, including figuring out which charger you’re actually connected to. No labels and no hints. Sheesh.
Annoying and doesn’t work (sometimes). At first it was good. I didn’t like the fact that you can only add in increments of $20 but whatever. Then it started loading extremely slow which is annoying. This was very frustrating because my car only takes Level 2 charging as well. There have been multiple times where I drive to a charging station and it doesn’t work. I’ll have my car plugged into a working machine and it won’t start at all. Need to fix the app
Worst charging rates out of ANYONE. It costs 61c/kwh to charge at my school, PLUS a 50 cent charging initiation fee. They are by FAR the most expensive charging option in San Diego, even compared with peak hours at a supercharger. They are preying on people who charge at their work or school out of convenience. And the price went up from 55 to 61 in just the two months I’ve been here. Absurd. On top of that, every charger on the floor of the parking structure is labeled “unit 001” so good luck figuring out which is which. Hello developer response, between the time I wrote this review and your reply, the price went up to 65c/kwh.
Avoid Blink Unless Desperate. Versus Tesla super charger Blink… (1) has slower charge speeds (2) is more expensive per kWh (3) requires us to buy quasi “gift cards” on accounts to use the service (4) has more equipment reliability issues. Even ChargePoint has been significantly better than Blink when considering the sum total of all these factors. I stayed at a hotel with Blink chargers outside and I was excited to use them overnight for an L2 charge, but I learned all the above and just drove to a Tesla supercharger instead near my dinner location. In another town I was in, I tried to use Blink and the L2 charger while we walked around town, me and another person in an adjacent stall worked together attempting to overcome malfunctioning equipment, but eventually we both gave up and charged elsewhere. I wouldn’t use Blink unless I was desperate for a charge and there were no other options. Lower quality service for higher cost is what Blink offers. So bad, stay away.
Horrible. How is this company still in business? The simplest things are not available in this app. The fact that the app doesn’t even give you a charge status is unbelievable. You plugin to charge and the app doesn’t show you how long you’ve been charging, how much - nothing. Just a icon if a lightening bolt in the corner. The company they took over (SemaCommect) had a MUCH better app. This company shouldn’t even be in business! Got a problem? Try their online chat support. It’s automated and everything you put in just tells you to call their 800#. You call the 800# and it goes directly to vmail.
Process needs to be easier. The process of plugging in and initiating the charge needs to be quicker and easier. I shouldn’t need to sign in to the app every time, having to type in the email, wait for an *additional* login screen to load (hoping your signal is good), type in your password, wait for it to load, waiting for the charger your standing right next to show up on the map, waiting for the app and the charger to communicate with each other…. I gave up after several minutes. I’m lucky I have a PHEV, I could bypass the need to charge - not worth the trouble with blink

I work where a semaconnect or blink machine is And it used to be Selma connect now blink first off the app will not allow me to add my card so I have to pay $20 hold every time I charge which is 6 nights every other week I’ve called them at least 6 times now and they still cannot help me Plus the charges are 4 X ‘s the amount that semma connect charged , I might as well buy gas at this point it’s cheaper blink is not taking care of their customers and I’m looking at other places to charge at cause this is rediculous
Inaccurate parking fees, bug with charging occupancy fees. For several locations in Seattle, the app does not say they are at paid parking garages. So if you go there and ‘just’ pay the charging fee, you’ll get a parking ticket. it should be Blink’s responsibility to accurately keep track of paid/public charging locations, because if it was reflected accurately on the app I wouldn’t have gone to these paid garages just to charge Oh and there’s also a bug where if I unplug the charger before it finishes charging and drive away immediately, Blink will send me messages hours later saying I’m still plugged in, and charge occupancy fees
Easy to use App. I had no problem setting up the app after downloading so I could charge from the Blink network. Simple to start and end a charging session with a swipe, turned on the automatic top up feature so it will never stop a session should you use all the money in the account. I would have given 5⭐️ however the history of your usage I would have liked to see individual sessions broken out instead of all lumped together.
Worst Chargers so far. My success rate with blink is about 20% making easily the worst charging experience this far. When the screen even works, the QR codes on the terminal link to a dead site. The app says connected but won’t start a charge. Sometimes it starts working later other times I have to give up. You’ll get non-charging fee notices several hours after you’ve disconnected. On top of this, you need to preload money. And blink chargers are so rare, that money just sits for weeks.
Not available in CarPlay?. I have several EV charging apps on my iPhone and all show up on my apple car play for hands free location/navigation. Blink unfortunately, does not. I did check that the app was up to date as well as my operating system. Also have plenty of available app room and storage. I find it odd that it’s the only EV app not appearing. Perhaps there’s something I’m missing
Not a good service. This is one of those scammy services that makes you load your account with money rather than charging just for energy actually used. On top of that, to close your account and get that money back requires going through an automated phone system that doesn’t work well, talking to someone who can’t actually refund the money, and finally emailing. The chargers themselves, at least the ones I tried to use when my wife was in labor, mostly didn’t work. Why not just let me use the app to refund my money? Why make it so inefficient? In short, Blink is the anti-Tesla, and why the EV experience is so off-putting.
Plugging. I just brought a Nissan leaf 2015 I’m so great full for the blink charger’s They really help me. At first it was hard. I’m not gonna lie. I plug the car and hand too scan the barcode. Then sit in the car look at the app. It said location what charger it was I pressed on the one that I thought I was in. Then I press start on my phone. And I made it. It was a pretty fast charger to be honest. There’s four of them, but only three of them were working .
Don’t blink. I’ve had the unfortunate need to use the blink app and charging network on a few occasions. Maybe 20% of the time does it work as expected. Usually the connectivity is so poor that the app/authentication times out. I end up charging as a guest or not at all. My most recent charging experience—blink is more expensive than a fast charger and cheaper than a tow. The user experience is poor. The backend does not work—you will get charged (on your card), but you may have to try several times to initiate charging. Avoid.
Required cash reload feels like a scam. I’ve used a few of these apps now and Blink is far and away my least favorite, but it’s also the one I have to use because they are installed at my building. Requiring a cash reload instead of just doing a credit card transaction per charge is scummy and anti-consumer. I would delete this app if it wasn’t a necessity. Edit in response to developer feedback: I’m not sure what confusion is being apologized for because I am not confused. Perhaps you are because funds are not both “optional” and “necessary.”
Worthless Service With Terrible Application Support. Guess an iPhone 13 user that downloads the app needs to close and reinstall only to have the same thing happen over and over. Good thing I didn’t need to charge my EV at your station or anything. I can’t make it past the credit card entry in the app, keyboard won’t let me scroll down to submit or close the keyboard. Call support and how is the support they provide? Delete the app and reinstall it. Didn’t work, thanks for nothing. You’ll be gone in the Blink of an eye hopefully, replaced with someone who spent the money on better development and customer support
App not intuitive. I recently used a blink charging station for the first time and didn’t find it as easy to use as other apps or charging stations. The main issue was when I got to a charging station and attempted to find the right thing thing to press to charge the car. Maybe it’s just a matter with different apps that you get used to but maybe the developers could look into this.
Asks for unnecessary permissions. Many functions like looking up saved stations and private access stations don’t work unless you share your location data with the app. You wouldn’t think that that would he necessary. There is a link to the Blink privacy policy from the App store, but the link is broken. That shows you where their priorities are in terms of privacy and makes you wonder why they want your location data all the time. Would also be nice to see the current charging status similarly to how Chargepoint does it.
Unethical business practice. Blink has the ability to send you texts when you start charging and when you stop charging. They also can send you a text when your charge is complete. How do I know?! A friend if mine gave a bad review of Blink over this, the next week she started getting texts when her car charge was complete. None of the others at work get these texts. So the only way to get these texts is to right a bad review of Blink, then they will send you texts to remind you to move your car so you don’t spend a fortune, and so others can use it. This is so unethical.
Add cash to your account in advance, and pick the right charger. I downloaded the Blink app ahead of time, and pre-loaded it with $40. As long as you select a charger that is “ready for charging” (and not “offline”), and select the correct port within the app, the process is super quick and easy. Charge rate of $0.50/kWh was reasonable given what Superchargers are charging these days. Overall very happy with the experience!
Horrible app and company. I tried for 30min to get a charge and it never worked I even moved to a different charger thinking maybe it was the charger. I decided to leave because I never got a charge. Later that day I noticed my bank account was charged and when I called to fix it they said I was charging for 3hrs or more and that’s why I was charged when in reality I was in that spot for maybe at the most 45min and never got a charge. Blink said they couldn’t help me and i probably wouldn’t get my money back and I would get an email about my claim but I never received an email.
User “fiend”ly. Oof from the sign-up process with minimum pre-fills, to the app interface that leaves plenty to be desired, to the charging stations themselves that didn’t have QR codes to scan and the station # changed constantly as the 800 service # flashed on the screen, and the cherry on top is the mandatory $20 advance they want despite the credit card on file with auto-fill like they’re an EZ pass toll collector. If there was a body of water close enough and Michael Scott were driving this vehicle with me in it, oh nvm. Hopefully my only time using this service at said hotel. Adios amigos.
NOT FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Whomever “fixed” the chargers, made them worse actually. At least the ones I use. They now charge 0.03 cents PER 30 SECONDS for charging, and 0.02 PER 30 SECONDS JUST TO PARK instead of kWh. I work 12 hour nights, and for one charge it costs almost $20 parking for THREE hours. It used to cost 0.39 cents per kWh with FREE parking as it states on the PlugShare app. I spent over $30 one night!!! This is not okay and probably not too far off from false advertising. I’d like my money back. All of it. For the inconvenience, misleading information, and having to miss work going out to my car to unplug it so I don’t spend an arm and a leg. This will be escalated to the company. Chargers, beware!!!!
always broken. Oceanside. they have been broken for years. A couple are working and all you could do is see if they respond. The main machine to control them is broken, now gone, so you have to have an account. They aren't numbered related to the app so you actually have to look at the little serial number on the side of the unit and then you just try one and you try another and you try another and then one out of eight or three out of eight or working today. and years. The city needs to kick these people out of our parking lot and bring in one of the companies that actually maintains their machines.
Shouldn’t have to use an app to charge my car. I hate having to install a new app for something I will use once or twice and never again, but chargepoint won’t work on some of the Blink chargers in my city, so I had to resort to installing the Blink app in order to charge my car after paying for parking.
Updated: Clunky and forces you to preload a balance!. Update: it was easy to get in touch with support who helped refund my balance. I’m not sure I would charge with them again but happy to know they take care of their customers. Took a long time to set up while at the charging station. App said I was charging but my vehicle said it was not. Not sure if I was charged yet but not a great experience. Also forced me to load a min of $20 when I was just trying to quickly top off a charge.
The reason America won’t adopt electric cars.. If you could get a group of morons together to invent a charging network where it was convoluted, complicated, and horribly unreliable, then you have successfully built blink. Every single time at every single charging station either the app or the chargers themselves do not work. In the St. Louis Park location it is a total disaster. I go regularly and have yet to ever have it work. Same at the Mall of America. Really pathetic. It should just be pull out the card put it against the charger. Let dollars come off of the credit card like a gas pump and go. The fact that it can’t do that is pathetic.
Useless app, feels like pulling teeth. Wasted 30 minutes trying to get this app working and couldn’t get to charge my card. For some reason it has a timer before you can do the “swipe to start charging”, which is a really confusing and unnecessary UI thing. Nothing happened when I did that. A couple other silly and poorly implemented things: - the app has my precise location and im sitting right on top of the dot on the map that I want to charge, but the map default to showing a 10 mile radius area with hundreds of dots - no integration with Apple login - no integration with Apple Pay
Old app just stopped working - no info on new app. The old app just stopped working. Was surprised to find this new app on the App Store. No official communication - neither in the app nor via email received. And I checked all my folders. In fact, I still got Blink emails on my updated credit cards so email was correct. Stating that Blink tried to reach out to everyone via repeated emails is just incorrect. Besides that, even the new app does not seem to be optimized for larger iPhone screen resolutions which have been around for years now. On my iPhone 12 Pro Max, all buttons and the menu bar are weirdly blown up.
