Blink Charging Mobile App Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Waste of time. Terrible interface, waste of time, never was able to charge. You first have to download the terrible app, only to have to input everything, create an account. At one point the “save and next” button is hidden behind your phones keyboard without being able to lower the keyboard or hit “done”. So good luck figuring that one out. After that was conquered the app takes your cc and charges. Ready to go, right? Wrong. Click button to start charging which takes you to Swipe to start charging which takes you to click button to start charging which takes you to swipe…. You get the idea. Never charged . And hey geniuses at Blink… why not put the charger numbers on the charger?!! Instead you print a sign and tape it to the charger that says “north is 195 and south is 198”. Yeah let me get my compass out to check on that. Then which is 1 and which is 2. Would it be hard to write 198-1 or 198-2 on the machine? It doesn’t matter though, this app is terrible. Had to find a ChargePoint.

I work where a semaconnect or blink machine is. I work where a semaconnect or blink machine is And it used to be Selma connect now blink first off the app will not allow me to add my card so I have to pay $20 hold every time I charge which is 6 nights every other week I’ve called them at least 6 times now and they still cannot help me Plus the charges are 4 X ‘s the amount that semma connect charged , I might as well buy gas at this point it’s cheaper blink is not taking care of their customers and I’m looking at other places to charge at cause this is rediculous

Bad experience. I am traveling and rented a EV. I have never used a charging station before and assumed it would be fairly easy, so I went to the nearest one. It turned out to be a blink station and half of the 4 stations weren’t working, and other cars were using the working ones, so I drove to the next one. I was having trouble starting the charging process so I decided to contact customer support. The hood music told me it would be 8 minutes. When I was next in line it transferred me to another line and just played annoying music in my ear for 30 minutes. Ugh. What a horrible experience and I will avoid this company/service if possible.

Asks for unnecessary permissions. Many functions like looking up saved stations and private access stations don’t work unless you share your location data with the app. You wouldn’t think that that would he necessary. There is a link to the Blink privacy policy from the App store, but the link is broken. That shows you where their priorities are in terms of privacy and makes you wonder why they want your location data all the time. Would also be nice to see the current charging status similarly to how Chargepoint does it.

Why is it so difficult?. An EV charging app really only has one job: Let me charge my car with a minimal amount of friction. So when I pull up to the charger and plug it in, why do I have to tap through this app and try to convince it that I am in fact next to a charger, that the charger is available, and that I really would like to initiate the charge? Instead I have to tediously find the charger’s ID, which constantly scrolls through the tiny LCD, and then in an unintuitive way select it in the app to start start the charge? And why does my car know it’s now charging, but the app never acknowledges it? This thing really needs a refresh from a UX perspective. And please let us have a Blink card in our Apple Wallet to just tap the charger to start charging.

Charging Station Woes. As someone working in the hospitality industry, it's quite embarrassing when guests inquire about our Blink EV charger. Unfortunately, our charging station consistently encounters issues, such as connectivity problems or the app attempting to charge for the complimentary service. Based on my experience, I would not recommend it to anyone. I called customer service to see if they could help me resolve the issue but they seemed to have made it worse by disabling it for a little while, luckily i was able to reach someone else and they seemed to have fixed the issue

Lacking. They bought out another company/app that offered a virtual wallet card (blink doesn’t, just a physical card). The app doesn’t show you an updated charging/charged status. It does send you an email, but after you’ve gone to unplug and move your car. The email says something like “it’s all charged up, please move your vehicle…” yes, been there done that. Thank you. This would be more helpful when the car reaches 100%. Also customer service has not been helpful. I doubt I’ve ever interacted with an actual person. Step up guys. ChargePoint is miles ahead.

Buggy & Unresponsive. I don’t normally write app reviews, but I just want to highlight how bad this application and the services offered by Blink are. The chargers offered by Blink rarely work. But, when they do, they’re good for maybe 1-2 charges on the charger. After that they end up freezing and being unresponsive. Now onto the app, which is hardly functional for anything other than using a map and adding money to your balance. I’ve had issues where after charging sessions my session doesn’t actually end and other folks can use my session and rack up my bill. The UX of the application is poor at best, offering little indication to any user interactivity. If you attempt to submit an issue in the app you’ll likely find that you get no confirmation, no error, or any indication about the submission of the issue you’ve tried to submit. Then you’ll attempt to call in and resolve the issue only to find that your “3 minute wait time” actually takes 20 minutes. Great, you’ve finally got ahold of someone, hope is on the way! Except you will soon learn that you’ve waited 20 minutes only for them to “try” to reboot the system unsuccessfully and then be told that you’re being transferred to the “technical team” which will result in you being transferred to a phone number which never answers and can’t receive any voicemails because the mailbox is full.

NOT FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Whomever “fixed” the chargers, made them worse actually. At least the ones I use. They now charge 0.03 cents PER 30 SECONDS for charging, and 0.02 PER 30 SECONDS JUST TO PARK instead of kWh. I work 12 hour nights, and for one charge it costs almost $20 parking for THREE hours. It used to cost 0.39 cents per kWh with FREE parking as it states on the PlugShare app. I spent over $30 one night!!! This is not okay and probably not too far off from false advertising. I’d like my money back. All of it. For the inconvenience, misleading information, and having to miss work going out to my car to unplug it so I don’t spend an arm and a leg. This will be escalated to the company. Chargers, beware!!!!

Easy to use App. I had no problem setting up the app after downloading so I could charge from the Blink network. Simple to start and end a charging session with a swipe, turned on the automatic top up feature so it will never stop a session should you use all the money in the account. I would have given 5⭐️ however the history of your usage I would have liked to see individual sessions broken out instead of all lumped together.

Unethical business practice. Blink has the ability to send you texts when you start charging and when you stop charging. They also can send you a text when your charge is complete. How do I know?! A friend if mine gave a bad review of Blink over this, the next week she started getting texts when her car charge was complete. None of the others at work get these texts. So the only way to get these texts is to right a bad review of Blink, then they will send you texts to remind you to move your car so you don’t spend a fortune, and so others can use it. This is so unethical.

Inaccurate data. Painfully slow customer support.. Tried to charge, would not deliver energy. Called 5 times. Disconnected 4 times, finally got an agent after more than one hour. During the call the charger started working, the agent acted as if it had been working all along. Circular arguments. She asked me to unplug and replug, which I did. Now it claims to be charging, but the app states that zero power is being delivered. It seems like Blink is trying to discourage people from using EVs. This is the worst experience I have had in over 10 years of EV ownership. I will use alternatives to Blink whenever feasible. The only reason I am trying to use Blink today is because it’s the only option at the hotel where I am staying.

Not good at all. This app was not ready for prime time. Whatever they did, they messed it up so bad that a large portion of their customers can’t charge. I can’t charge because the new app lost my account. I can’t set up an account because when I enter in information it doesn’t save it. It won’t let me get past a screen that makes me choose the make of my vehicle which is completely irrelevant. I put in credit card information and it deletes it. I spent an hour and a half with four different customer support technicians with no resolution whatsoever, it’s been three days I sincerely hope they get there ship together soon. I have a low range vehicle and rely on the chargers at my work.

Lacking essential features. App works fine, charging station filters seem to work reliably. That said, it doesn't populate in CarPlay, unlike several other charging apps. It also makes no audio alerts for things like charging complete, wait list updates, etc, and email alerts are 30+ minutes late to arrive. If you're not staring at your phone when your turn comes up, you'll miss your windows to confirm you're still waiting in line to charge.

Non-functional. The new app is not operational. A week ago, it took me 10 minutes of attempts to start a charge. I charged for 90 minutes and left. App didn’t register anything. 3 days later, I received an email notification that my charge had just started (I’d long since finished and left). At present, the app shows that I’m currently charging (I’m not) and I’ve been charging for 101 hours (with zero energy delivered). I don’t know what’s happened to this app, but it’s unusable, which means the entire Blink network is unavailable to me. Complete failure.

Doesn’t work. They replied that the issue was fixed which was not, I have to delete and reinstall app every day for it to work. And they said all previous charging history was transferred to the new app but it’s not true. No charging history is available and I was charged for the session that was promised/supposed to be free when they did the transfer. My balance is a mystery now and earlier I could check on the web browser version but now I can’t log in there too. — Old app was bad but it at least worked. This one won’t even log me in and I can’t charge. How hard can that be? I JUST want to log in and check my balance.

Disappointing, Sick of loaning Blink $$. I’ve been using Blink stations and the app for more than 5 years. Originally the app was stable and worked well. Now, more often than not, I am standing in the rain at a charging station, trying to get the app to work, but it frequently crashes. Or it will tell me to plug the cord in to begin charging, and then, when I do, it does not start charging but gives an error message, sometimes charging me $1.70 for keeping the charger plugged in after it had “finished charging” – even though it never started charging! So incredibly aggravating. And then there is the pre-loading of $20 if the Blink account balance falls below $10. So I am loaning blink $20 interest free until I dip below $10 balance again and they charge me another $20! Anytime I can use Chargepoint or any other charger besides Blink, I do. Blink stinks.

Ridiculous. This thing is freaking ridiculous. It makes you open an account and add a funds to the account before you can even start charging. Imagine walking into a Starbucks and being told that before you can make a transaction you have to download the app, open an account, add $20 to the account and then you can buy a coffee. I own a Tesla and I’m in a rental Volvo C40. Now I understand why people are so hesitant to change to an EV. The charging experience on a Non-Tesla EV is just terrible. Also the charger I was trying to use wasn’t even showing up in the map. At the end I didn’t charge, I just left.

Unable to charge, keeps resetting. I tried no less than 6 times to login, enter my credit card information and try to charge. Sometimes I would make it to the payment info screen before the app reset and sometimes I would make it all the way to getting it to charge before it reset. Never could get it to charge my Audi. I very much was looking forward to giving you my money but the app is not functional. Received two emails saying you delivered .05 kWh of charge. This app is a complete waste of time and effort.

The Worst of the Worst. Everything about this company is just wrong. They need to bring on a proper management team so it can be run correctly. You are taking up spaces in areas where other companies could put their chargers instead. As a result, you are ruining peoples first impressions of purchasing EV vehicles when their only options are blink chargers that don’t work. You also need to find a way to let people charge their vehicles without having a smart phone because what if they pull up and both the vehicle and the smart phone are dead? And to call your toll-free number and get an answering machine in this day and age is absolutely unacceptable. Just sell your company to EVgo and let them run it properly.

One issue after another. Blink needs to just move to a web-based app instead of trying to maintain their phone app. I have to update it all the time, they have different directions for accessing their chargers at the three different locations I use, the app is not easy to identify the station so it takes a long time to turn on the charger, and they make you have a credit balance to use instead of having a credit card on file and charging it after the full balance is determined. You also have to go to the website to do some of the activities anyway or call customer service, which is hit or miss whether you get someone who will be condescending and treat you like an idiot because you didn’t know they got a new app platform and you have to delete the old one and upload the new one. Which, by the way, is not much better than the previous one.

Update 7.8.23. Update 7.8.23 Working somewhat. Notifies me when I start charging and now charging is working. Old app would automatically notify me when charging was completed. Now alerts me that charging is completed AFTER I unplug my car. Not helpful. Previous review Ican log in, add a credit card, locate charger. But Sema connect card doesn’t work. Blink app does not work. ‘ Something went wrong. ‘Please fix this!

Worthless Service With Terrible Application Support. Guess an iPhone 13 user that downloads the app needs to close and reinstall only to have the same thing happen over and over. Good thing I didn’t need to charge my EV at your station or anything. I can’t make it past the credit card entry in the app, keyboard won’t let me scroll down to submit or close the keyboard. Call support and how is the support they provide? Delete the app and reinstall it. Didn’t work, thanks for nothing. You’ll be gone in the Blink of an eye hopefully, replaced with someone who spent the money on better development and customer support

Horrible app and company. I tried for 30min to get a charge and it never worked I even moved to a different charger thinking maybe it was the charger. I decided to leave because I never got a charge. Later that day I noticed my bank account was charged and when I called to fix it they said I was charging for 3hrs or more and that’s why I was charged when in reality I was in that spot for maybe at the most 45min and never got a charge. Blink said they couldn’t help me and i probably wouldn’t get my money back and I would get an email about my claim but I never received an email.

Still not enough info. *No app indication of charge status ongoing *No symbol key to indicate what blue, green, or a lock key indicate with any clarity *Consistently told me a charger was unavailable when it wasn’t in use Usually we trickle-charge at home but due to circumstances we decided we’d run our Leaf next door to use a Blink charger. The app indicated there was 0/1 available. There are two chargers but one was offline. Thing is, after waiting 90 minutes, I took the car over and saw no car charging. Fine, whatever. Hooked up and started charging. Then realized the app tells me nothing about how far along we are in charging. It barely tells me it’s on a charger at all; just a lightning bolt on the map. Other charging network apps tell us how much charge has been dispensed (and how much the cost is so far). Disappointed, especially when these two units had just got back online, now one is offline again and the app had just been updated. I finally unplugged after 90 minutes with no indication of how much had been dispensed, to find my car was at 100%. Why was it still charging, then?

Thankfully I’ve physical card instead. Since this review they got their app in order insofar as it’s functionally useful as before (and nicer UI etc.). No hang up on being required by having no way of re-identifying yourself. If you have an account, email login & credentials get you back to your account as a funding source for charging & no special requirement for a physical RF card to start every charger. Changed from highly generous 2stars to now 4stars for functionality (eventually) Resolved Review post-new app rollout is below for context: “Briefly worked fine for me after its roll-out a wk ago or so but since then it no longer has my acct info & (like other reviewers note) I’m unable to complete the sign-in process (again) because it will not let me proceed past an empty set of choices for vehicle make. Have alerted humans on the always helpful customer svc side of things & hopefully it get resolved soon for right now the app is useful only as a locator of stations on a map”

Since update it’s a mess. Blink had a major update to their charging network along with the new app in October. It’s been a complete mess since then. Though the app works for me, the whole system has had numerous flaws. I’ve been charged for sessions that I didn’t do, and getting credited for those has taken 4 phone calls, and have never been properly resolved. The new user interface on the app is worse than the previous app. They really should compensate their users for all the issues and time spent on customer support.

Not intuitive App, Slow charge, stopped charging much too soon. I am used to ChargePoint, but this Blink app and their chargers are something else. Finding your chargers in the App is close to being a wild guess. I had to move my car after finding one that I could pick, despite all the open spots. Then, the charge rate was set to 3KW at that location, which is pretty much useless. Finally, it unexpectedly stopped charging after sending a few KWh, then started charging a parking fee. Someone needs to fix this company.

Useless app, feels like pulling teeth. Wasted 30 minutes trying to get this app working and couldn’t get to charge my card. For some reason it has a timer before you can do the “swipe to start charging”, which is a really confusing and unnecessary UI thing. Nothing happened when I did that. A couple other silly and poorly implemented things: - the app has my precise location and im sitting right on top of the dot on the map that I want to charge, but the map default to showing a 10 mile radius area with hundreds of dots - no integration with Apple login - no integration with Apple Pay

Horrible. How is this company still in business? The simplest things are not available in this app. The fact that the app doesn’t even give you a charge status is unbelievable. You plugin to charge and the app doesn’t show you how long you’ve been charging, how much - nothing. Just a icon if a lightening bolt in the corner. The company they took over (SemaCommect) had a MUCH better app. This company shouldn’t even be in business! Got a problem? Try their online chat support. It’s automated and everything you put in just tells you to call their 800#. You call the 800# and it goes directly to vmail.

Borderline scam and incompetent too. 1. No way to ID which charger corresponds to the one on the app. Luckily my guess activated the one next to me so I was able to make the cord reach without moving my car. Starting charging but t really slow. 2. Went to sleep in the Element Hotel wthe chargers are located only to be wakened by a text from Blink that my charge was finished and parking fees would begin if I didn’t move my car to make room for other EVs to charge. I got dressed and went downstairs to fund my car at 66% and no other stall being used. 3. Back to asleep until I received the same text again about 1:30am. I git dressed again and went and moved the car. 4. Minimum to open the account was $20. I just checked the account and see they charged me Over $17, @ $.94 per kWh! Tesla charges $.35 for much faster charging. I texted and emailed these jokers with no reply. I hope Element Hotels dumps them .

Better than the old app but still lame. It’s a step up from the old version of the app but that isn’t saying much. On the plus side, they let you know there “industry leading” technology is caught up to like 2015 instead of 2010. So there’s that. It would be great if you could just tap your phone/watch to start a charging session like the rest of the EV charging stations. Maybe they’ll get there by 2030 🤷‍♂️ Instead you need to go through a whole process and load funds to your account like a prepaid VISA. The app kicks you out frequently and you need to delete and redownload it to log back in. I only use Blink when it’s my only option.

Didn’t think it could get worse.. The old app constantly gave me the generic “Couldn’t connect to blink” error all the time, even if my balance had just run out or my billing info needed updating. The new app is NOT off to a great start. The app itself did NOT update, I had to delete the old app and reinstall it manually. Now I can’t even log in with my Blink account. I had to “Charge as a guest,” then re-enter all my billing info and then the map screen froze and wouldn’t let me do anything. I killed and re-launched the app and was able to select a charger, but the charger stayed on its idle screen and gave no indication that it was ready to charge until AFTER I plugged in my car. I was hoping for big improvements with this update, but first impression is that it’s even worse than before, and that’s setting the bar VERY low.

The most useless app. This company made the absolute worst charging station. You have to make an account just to use it. Which charges a subscription on top of the amount they charge to use the charger. They won’t truly allow you to charge as a guest. It takes you several minutes even to input all your information. Because you would think a technologically advanced app would allow you to use features such as Apple Pay or tap to pay. I’ve used many charging stations and this one is garbage. Hopefully, you are not in an area where this is the only option for charging

Simply doesn’t work. The app frequently gives me the feedback “cannot connect to the network“ Uninstall reinstall didn’t help, the latest error is that I just get the title screen and can’t go any further These are the only charging stations at my work, I don’t know how they were swindled into buying these, but I’ve never been able to get one to work successfully. one time I called for customer support, and they told me these stations were not active although I can see them charging other vehicles. Quick poll at work suggest that only about 30% of people have had a successful experience with these stations.

Could be better. While the app is functional, it could be better… specifically: dark mode support, Apple Pay support, and the worst offender is the lack of filtering ability for completely free charging stations. Finally, the map is very simple that could be much more rich in detail to help visually find stations (see Volta app as example for this). I also do not like that using the app as a guest still requires an email signup, defeating the purpose.

App does not work to set up account. Blink shut down the SemaConnect app, which worked just fine and said they would migrate account details to this app. That didn’t auto migrate for me. Ok, that’s not a big deal, so I tried to set up a new account here, but it won’t accept my car model or credit card. Really bad experience and annoying. Unlike this app, I work for a living, I don’t have all day to try to call customer support and get this figured out. Build an app that actually works and isn’t laggy before removing the old app.

Unable to charge. Former SemaConnect charger station at my apartment building. Blink app won’t let me input model of car so i can’t register to pay for the service. Terrible customer service. Unfortunately i don’t know what to do to get any Blink service. Update: Blink app is just awful. Doesn’t work on occasion, pauses charging, very slow to get to my saved/favorited chargers. Currently i can’t even charge because the app keeps asking me to approve terms and conditions every time i navigate to a different location in the app, then it just times out and essentially is useful. Cant get ahold of anyone. Terrible customer service. If i could I would definitely stop using Blink, unfortunately my apartment building used Blink so I’m stuck…

Not available in CarPlay?. I have several EV charging apps on my iPhone and all show up on my apple car play for hands free location/navigation. Blink unfortunately, does not. I did check that the app was up to date as well as my operating system. Also have plenty of available app room and storage. I find it odd that it’s the only EV app not appearing. Perhaps there’s something I’m missing

Do they even use the app themselves?. First of all. The app is disabled if you don’t give them access to your location. They don’t need that - just the charger number. Sema connect worked fine without invasive location permissions. I can’t even search without it 🤦‍♂️ Second, I have have to scroll through a list of 40+ chargers at the charging location to pick the right charger (after getting to the charge site via many taps). Why can’t I just enter the charge stall number? Way less error prone and way faster. It’s many clicks and scrolls compared to the Sema connect app. Terrible experience. Favoriting private access locations doesn’t even work either adding even more taps to getting into a charge session.

Easily the worst charge company to work with. Multiple chargers dead or non functional, to the point it’s barely worth checking for them. On top of that the company is aware of it and couldn’t care less, per their customer support many of these chargers are deactivated by them on purpose and they do not update this status in the app. As bad as EA is at least when they have 1/4 chargers working they are updated on the map. It’s really sad because I never had any problems with SEMAconnect until blink acquired them and now it’s a waking nightmare. Ghost charges, meters reading innacurately (always in their favor) and ten minutes on hold to find out that they did it on purpose and don’t care. I’d rate it lower if I could.

The worst charging company.. Update: the app is now overcharging my sessions and calculating charges incorrectly. How is this even legal? As a Tesla owner, I am spoiled by how easy it is to use superchargers. However, I do use other chargers at times, including ChargePoint, SemaConnect, EVGO. With one exception - I’ve never been able to set up and use blink chargers. A lot of their chargers are in underground parking with no phone reception. That wasn’t a problem because I could use someone else. Recently, SemaConnect in my building has merged with blink, and the pain begins. After trying many times, I simply cannot even login or register with blink. With the merger, they essentially destroyed a well run company and a functional app, with a piece of junk put together by people who doesn’t know how to build software.

User unfriendly model. As an ev user I have about 8 apps now, I’m used to it. This is easily the most cumbersome in-effective user flow. The station I was at required an actual physical card provided by blink in order for me to use it. That’s harder for everyone. It’s almost like you don’t want people to use your chargers. I went through all the options I possibly could to charge my car (download app, sign up as member, put in a long list required inputs that shouldn’t be required) only for none of it to work. Called support and they told me the station is decommissioned (no signs anywhere regarding this) and that I can only use a physical card to use that station. I’m going to avoid using Blink stations if I can.

Stupid app doesn’t work. I am begging the city of Westwood on my hands and knees to contract with a different EV charging company because blink is absolutely the worst I have ever had to deal with!! their app just straight up does not work!!! It will work long enough to collect my credit card information, but then it “can’t connect to the server” as soon as I’m ready to charge!! I have had this app on my phone since 2017 and I have never once, not one single time, managed to successfully charge with Blink, and I have tried a half-dozen times. Delete this app, it’s pointless.

Zero stars. App requires a ton of personal information for no reason. No integration with Applepay, so you have to manually enter all payment info. Then, get this, it requires you to prepay $20 before it will let you charge, regardless of how much you use. You have to maintain a $20 balance. What a joke. I can’t do that for 16 different EV apps. Just let me pay. Apparently you can sign in as a guest and pay more. That still requires your email, HOME ADDRESS and other information. Why? There is so much friction between plugging the car in and getting electricity to flow. They spent all of there money making it harder for a plug connected to a grid to NOT charge. These people are monsters.

Garbage. Ever since they took over Sema Connect, there have been nothing but issues. First of all, EVERY TIME I open the app it asks me to load money. NO!!! I have free charging at work and will never use your terrible app otherwise. Second, the customer support has been useless. We had one of our four chargers go offline and we tried calling. We were on hold forever, so I s submitted a report and never heard back. The charger is still offline now. Absolutely terrible app, customer service, and would never recommend to anybody. Thank you.

Old app just stopped working - no info on new app. The old app just stopped working. Was surprised to find this new app on the App Store. No official communication - neither in the app nor via email received. And I checked all my folders. In fact, I still got Blink emails on my updated credit cards so email was correct. Stating that Blink tried to reach out to everyone via repeated emails is just incorrect. Besides that, even the new app does not seem to be optimized for larger iPhone screen resolutions which have been around for years now. On my iPhone 12 Pro Max, all buttons and the menu bar are weirdly blown up.

Don’t waste your time. I ended up getting a blink card for some reason but unable to create an account using my phone. You cannot use the website because they don’t know how to create a website for you to control your account. It is a corporate useless information posted on web. Don’t waste your time with this company. Their chargers are located in close garage basements with no wireless access. You will be wasting your time and battery driving up their charger. If you manage to access wireless network, good lick making their app work. I just shredded the blink card. I will wait in an EVgo charger rather than driving up to Blink. This is really ridiculous. This people should be charged with criminal neglect for causing unnecessary stress to others. CALIFORNIA cancel their licenses!!

Lag between app and charger. This is my personal experience, which has been nothing but frustration. At this time, I would NOT recommend using this app or the blink stations. Just go to nearby chargepoint or evgo stations. I’ve been using a private blink station in my apartment that charges $1 per hour of parking for up to 5 hours. There has always been a lag between me unplugging my car and the app recognizing that the charging was discontinued (up to an hour at times, and thus being overbilled). My biggest frustration recently has been that I was charged $12 and $8 for charging less than 2 hours each of these times. I have made multiple inquiries by app and also by email, but these problems have not been addressed, and I have not been refunded.

Useless App and No Support. Blink took over Sema Connect and now I can’t charge at my apartment building. My apartment’s charging stations don’t show up on the map or the search function. I submitted a help ticket through this app more than a week ago and no one responded. And no car has charged at my building since Blink took over weeks ago. Blink still has my money that got transferred from Sema Connect tho. These are problems with Blink the company and the app but I can’t charge, contact anyone, and they have my money so here I am in the Apple app reviews.

Nothing works. App freezes to load, doenst accept account logon. Completely useless

Frustrating app. The app doesn’t take either of my credit cards. After numerous calls to Blink/SemaConnect they still can’t figure it out. Such a waste of time and inconvenience as it’s the only charger in my area.

Impossible à configurer / application inutile. Application impossible à configurer. La création d'un compte bloque au niveau de l'entrée des données de paiement . Interface incomplète qui semble avoir été créée très vite et sans vérification. Totally useless app! Creating an account is impossible! The app freezes during the sign up process. This application seems to have been built with no verification or beta testing ...

Very slow charging. I didn’t have 15 hours to charge.

Unable to add home charger. Called twice for support , I was told I was missing address for billing (doesn’t make sense!) added and no where with the app .. charger is working great .. but regretting installing with poor customer service!

Useless app. Downloaded it today, so I have the “latest version” yet anytime I open the app it tells me I have to update the app however there is no update.

Needs work. Not properly configured for all credit cards. Would be much better if it worked with Apple Pay and apple login The UI views do not account for the keyboard Seems to require a minimum of $20 to start a charge when you have an account. When charging the view does not properly show the charge progress, instead it shows zeroes as of charging hasn’t started.

Won’t accept credit card info. Tried two different cc. Confirmed info correct multiple times. App won’t accept them.

Does not after SemaConnect integration. This is disappointing, the app does launches but it’s blank. Did VW software engineers help with app?

Would be 0 if I could. Blink is overpriced and the app is a dumpster fire. Never been able to get a login or even use as guest. Credit card doesn’t work, sign up and forgot password does nothing. Totally useless app.

Useless App!. This app is showing EV chargers that don’t exist anymore. Removed years ago after not functioning for years before. Impossible to report it on the app. There appears to be a way to report the Charger issue, but the app does not work. I also tried to send the error as a support case. It allows me to type the entire report, but when you try submit the report, if pops up an error. This app is useless.

Does not work. Could not log in. After providing my name and phone number, I’m asked to tell which car I drive. Well, the drop down menu options are empty and NEXT button remains inactive. Blink is probably the second worst charging network on the market. Always have issues with their service. Also, doesn’t let you add RF card to a phone wallet - you gotta use physical card or open app…

What a rip off. I had a rental car that I needed to charge. Blink charged my credit card $20 even though I used less than one dollar of charging. Now I’m back home, over 1000 miles away, and they’re saying they’re going to charge me for a occupancy fee because my car is still parked there. Obviously it’s not. They have absolutely no idea what they’re doing. I know I want my $19 back, but I’m guessing I’ll never see that.

Please fire the dumb app developer. Of all the EV charging app I have on my phone, Blink is the worst. Every all I have, I can just tap my phone and charge away, but no Blink; I have to select a location then scroll down to the right stall to charge. It seems the app was created by children with no common sense. Why don’t Blink just use Semaconnect app and rename it to Blink and remove this stupid and useless Blink Charing piece of crap and fire the rest of the Blink Charing app developer.

Worst charging experience. Their app is not working, you cannot connect the card to your phone, you cannot pay with your phone for the charging. The only way to pay for these chargers is with a card that takes about two weeks to get in so if you are by any kind of charging station, which is not located on the air app, then you are unable to do charge

Beware of duplicate credit card charges! Haven’t used blink since 2019. I have not used blink since 2019 and this week I received a failed credit card payment notice. Blink attempted to bill my expired card for the full amount of my last 2019 charge session. If you have an active credit card on file, check your card charges! Logging in to the new app to check payment history and when selecting any past payment, the app crashes…

Bad chargers, bad app. Where to start… half of the chargers I’ve tried to use are 🛠️broken or don’t work, charging us more 💰expensive than pretty much any other network, it’s slower than most other chargers, you have to pay in prepaid measurements (so enjoy your forced donation!) , the app doesn’t usually work in guest mode so you’ll have to set up an account, and the app is just slow and buggy. Absolutely terrible.

Blink crashing. Sofar I haven’t had any problems out of the software until I just updated my phone to iOS 17 on my 14 pro max. Now it is totally in useable. It crashes around 4 seconds after bringing it up. Everytime without fail. Doug Brown.

Broken. New app lost account information and will not allow creation/updating of new profile (locks on add vehicle screen as others mention). Blink seems to have bricked their entire network with this new app. UPDATE: developer says issues have been resolved. They have not. App remains completely functionless. SECOND UPDATE: deleting and reinstalling the app makes it work…but come on Blink, that should not be required.

Worked like a charm. I recently downloaded the app to charge at a new station installed near my job in Phx. The app worked great, I was able to find the charger and start charging. Not sure why others are having issues with such an easy app.

Won’t accept an email address to log on. Really horrible experience. Bring back the old app. At least it worked. This one tries to take you to a Safari page to log in instead of doing it natively. Blink needs to hire real app developers or get a refund if they hired an outside team. You can’t scroll around the map. It freezes. Impossible to search. And I’m using the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It’s not my phone. Trust me.

Severe downgrade from SemaConnect. I got caught up with the SemaConnect migration and unfortunately moving to Blink is a step down. The app is way slower than SemaConnect, the private locations screen sometimes loads and sometimes doesn't, and I can't favorite private locations. It's a lot more steps to get to the same screens that I used to be able to get to with a single tap. So far I'm not happy with using this app over the old one, which worked so well.

Freezes up. App routinely freezes at the opening “Blink” screen. When it does get past that to the login, it doesn’t move past entering your email address. And finally, following their merge with SemaConnect, there is no indication that the $10 I had on my SemaConnect account ever made it over to Blink. This has been a poor rollout despite Blink’s otherwise decent communication to customers.

Notifications don’t work. Charging appears to be working fine. However, despite having app, SMS, and Email notifications turned on for when the charge status changes, no notifications actually happened. When your apartment complex charges $5/hr for occupancy after charging completes, this notification is pretty important and not getting any notification indicating charging was finished ended up costing me quite a bit in fees.

Customer tech support is terrible.. The app won’t let me terminate my last session even though the session was completed weeks ago. As a result, I am unable to use Blink to charge my car. Nor can I delete my account because the app thinks I am still charging. Tech support is almost nonexistent. The advice so far has been to delete the app and sign in again or turn my phone off and on. Basic. I was told I would be contacted by tech operations. No such luck.

iOS 17 issues. Fixed the iOS 17 issue overnight. I can respect that. Still had to drive 9 miles to another super charger though. Blink is getting more popular. Hopefully dev team can stay on point and ahead of the curve for future updates and bugs.

Worst update ever. If you’re gonna make me download a completely new app it better be worth it but this is WAY worse than the last version. I was forced to sign up all over again and the app would crash every single time I tried to enter the make of my car that they just have to know apparently. So I can’t even use my account to charge and on top of that the app would crash every single time I tried to report this. Whoever made this choice needs to be fired.

Worst app I have used in a while. Text fields are overlapped by the keyboard so you can tap into them. Cannot pay per charge and have to load at least $10 which will effectively leave some extra money for them to take. If you try to charge as guest it’ll just eat your credit card info and not work by just asking you to make an account at the end.

Clunky and unintuitive. It took me over 10 minutes to get this app working. There was a tap feature but it didn’t work or I couldn’t figure it out. After all this time investment I come to realize I have to deposit $20 in their system to make it work. Kinda scammy IMO. I’d consider that this is at least partially my own incompetence if not for the fact that competing services have quick and easy sign up, or even just let you tap to pay without even signing up. It’s great to have different charging opinions but it shouldn’t be so painful to get a quick charge. No wonder this charge unit had literal cobwebs on it.

charger off line. Only one of the 2 chargers were operational at the Wyndham Skyline resort. Once I was able to plug into the operational charger it worked as expected. Thank you for offering this charging space. It was very convenient as I was staying on property.

Bait and switch- prepare to be scammed. App rates inaccurate. I created and account and was significantly overcharged for my session as well as hit with a bunch of fees that the app said were not part of the station I used. Charged my credit card when I did not authorize it to. Of all the charging apps/networks I have used this is the worst. Stay away from this scammy app/network, you will be overcharged and hit with all sorts of fees that were not listed.

Chargers offline, in private lots. I tried using the app to find a charging spot. after driving to FOUR different spots: one charger was offline, and one was in a private resident lot, and two were in lots that were closed. This would have been good to know ANY of these things. now i’m scrambling trying to find a charger and this car is below 10%. i can’t keep driving around hoping, and the app just shows that these spots are open and available when they are not.

Care About Privacy? You are a Second Class Citizen with Blink. Location information is _not_ needed to display a list of Favorite locations. The list does not need to be sorted by distance, it can be sorted by last usage time when Location is disabled. The map always places me in Florida when my location is disabled, regardless of GeoIP or last charge location. This app is a pain to use, and I will avoid Blink until they support basic usage scenarios.

What a mess!. Incredibly confusing sign-up process and none of the fields are mapped properly so auto fill doesn’t work. Also, no Apple Pay. The number you need to find on the machine is on the side and is tiny & not at all obvious. Given that’s what you need to put in, especially if your parking in the dark, it seems like that should be on the front of the machine. Who designed this! This could be so much better and so much easier. The hotel we were at openly stated that everyone who uses it is frustrated with the signup process and comes in and complains. It would seem the people that designed the kiosk and the app have never used either.

Pretty bad. Such a frustrating experience! I plugged in to charge - hit the start charging button on the app … the button never went away so I hit it again. I got a text saying the charging session had ended. I tried it again, same thing happened. The third time I didn’t hit start charging a second time but when I exited the app it stopped charging. Thank God I have enough charge to get me home otherwise I’d be more livid than I already am!

Horrible app. This is such a horribly functioning app. It works half the time. Can’t ever see your charging time (sometimes it works mostly it doesn’t), which is bad for someone like me who gets 4 hours of charging before the prices increase. Honestly, this app is a scathing indictment of the developers who “worked” on it. Try calling customer service to give feedback, and you’ll end up more frustrated. Do better blink.

“Something went wrong”. I received an email today from Blink saying they acquired SemaConnect. So I looked up Blink on the App Store, saw all the 1-star reviews, downloaded it anyway, and the app won’t even show any chargers. All I can see is a map with an off-center loading spinner. Then I tried to log in, only to repeatedly get the most generic error message of all time: “Something went wrong.” You don’t say!

The most ever ever paid for charging.. Less time, but charging more than other chargers around the city. Cost more than a supercharger. I thought superchargers were expensive cost me $17 over here in Old Pearsall, Park. Superchargers only charge 12 or $14 and are even more faster than here.

Never again!. Poor communication of what to do at the station, the sign said to use two differnt apps, the machine itself said to use another on. Car never started to charge, I spent about 45 min parked downloading apps, creating accounts, entering credit card info, and resulted in nothing, car never charged. I had a rental card for one day, and the minimum of cash it lets you transfer is $20. I’m hoping customer service will refund me my $20 that I never got to use.

Exploring the map is impossible. It only lets you look at your current location and not search anywhere else. Constantly moves you back to your current location. If you turn off location tracking, you can’t use the app at all and it tells you that is why. Now isn’t that suspicious, more profit in selling my location data than your subpar charging stations.

Furious is an understatement. I have reached out to Customer Service multiple times. I charged my car for the first time, at the station at my work. The app has been continuously RUNNING for a week and a half now. Over 157kWh, and a charge of $365. I cannot stop the charge. Deleting and reinstalling the app did not end it, clearing my data, etc. it is still running. I have reached out to the company multiple times to resolve this and all they tell me is “we have no record of the charging session, just disregard”. I’m blown off and no one will force stop the session or tell me what is going on. Okay that’s fine and all but what happens when the app catches up with itself and charges me $500 for $20 worth of charges I’ve actually done? I love my EV but this experience has made me contemplate going back.

Bad app, no customer service. This app has always been really glitchy, requiring some ‘work arounds’ to be able to charge my car. Many Blink chargers are down or just won’t charge. Customer service is never any help. I’ve called multiple times and different agents tell me different things. Also, they raised their prices so it’s not even cost effective. Deleting the app and switching to a different charger company.

Nice UI. Free charger wouldn’t activated because I didn’t have a balance even though most recent app update says you don’t need a balance to activate charger. I am not loading money to this app when I only use it for free chargers. Free chargers shouldn’t need an app to activate. You should plug in and it should start charging. The charger can still be networked for status updates.

Antiquated. Of all the charging systems out there, this is the worst. Very difficulty to figure out. I had to download an app, create an account, enter credit card info (why is there no Apple Pay?) They require a $20 deposit to “load” your account. Unfortunately you need cell service to work which is not ideal for parking garages. After a lot of time, effort, and energy and paying $20 turns out the charger i wanted to use was faulty (but it had a light on seeming to indicate it would work.) Spent 20mins calling customer service. Waste of time

Pretty awful. First of all they released this new and separate app and “turned off” the old app without any sort of messaging in the old app that the new app exists, just generic messages about the service being unavailable. I missed an opportunity to charge because of this. Secondly, they force you to add $20 in “Blink Cash” to your account in order to use the service, even if the charger in question is free. This is a garbage business practice that needs to end.

Constant re-login is terrible. New version of the app makes me re-verify my phone number every time I use the app. So during a rental any time I lock or unlock the car I must re-verify, and that requires cell service so I won't be able to get back into the car without service, even with bluetooth, because I can't login to the app. In LA that means every parking structure, anywhere in the hills etc...

Terrible app and system. This doesn’t work in any way and there is no information in the charging area about where you are or what station; I parked in a spot marked “EV-5” but when I found what appeared to be the right spot on this app there was no “EV-5” listed, everything was “port 1.” Even clicking on those ports didn’t bring any response. Fortunately I didn’t really need to charge, but was a time-wasting missed opportunity.

Not a good app. Had me log into the account four times, didn’t identify a clearly working charge station. Would not recommend. Use literally any other charging station.

Can’t use app to end charging?. Apparently you can’t use this app to stop charging your vehicle, or to get a notification that your car is fully charged. I specifically tried to use it to stop charging my car but couldn’t, so I’m stuck paying for 8 hours of charging when my car was actually charging for probably three of them.

Works about two thirds of the time. Hey, thank you for working two thirds of the time. Needed to figure out the proper sequence of loading the app, plugging the car in and press Start to make it work. Even then it’s unavailable sometimes for no apparent reason. Makes my decision to go back to an ICE machine easier today! #notworkingtoday

Garbage service. To use this service there was not a way to avoid paying $20 and to register an account. Then when you want to use the said $20 on the account all the stations don’t let you use it and you can only use a credit card to charge. But to get the app to work you have to register every time even though the account is open with $ on it. The app is also extremely slow and buggy. Use any other charging station service for your car.

Excellent customer service. I wasn’t able to update my account information on the new app. I emailed them for help and got a response within an hour thanking me for letting them know, and telling me that the problem was fixed (it was). I am not accustomed to this level of customer service. Great job Blink!!

App update. Very irritated about the time lost trying to get Blink Mobile working after it failed to connect. I did not receive any notification that the installed app would no longer work and that the user would need to delete it and download a different app. Why couldn’t the old app notify me about the new app rollout instead of giving me connection errors?

Doesn’t work. Blink app doesn’t work on my iPhone. I try to type in my credit card information and the number key as won’t disappear and also I am unable to click “save and next”. It’s extremely disappointing because it’s the only charging station at work but I can’t use it. What doesn't blink app work with i phone? I’ve tried several times .

High praise. I can see filters are a bit confusing especially the plug filters, would be better to make it clear and remove redundant plug types. Rest is cool.

Nothing But Problems Since New App Launch. Since the launch of the new App I have experienced numerous problems. The App either fails to launch or shows that I need to log-in again. I have now logged in on 3 different occasions, however, my most recent attempt has the App blocking my log-in because it is not allowing me past the Vehicle Info screen. This is now beyond frustrating & the company needs to fix the numerous bugs to the App now.

UNSTABLE TRASG. Application is so unstable. I used to use the Sema Connect app to charge at work and it worked flawlessly. Now they merged everything from Sema’s app (which worked FANTASTICALLY) to this blink app which is absolute trash. Crashes constantly. Tried logging in 10+ times and it fails (“something went wrong” error) every single time. If you acquired the company, you should of kept their functioning app instead of using your poorly coded one.

Doesn’t show all actual chargers. There’s 4 chargers a few blocks from my home but none of them show on the map. Also, there is no sign up tab, only charge as guest or login and neither work for a new user like me.

Lacking features. Seems like SeemaConnect joint forces but also got a downgrade on features. How is it possible that the charging points have NFC but the app is unable to generate a pass? I must order the physical card, and probably carry it as I probably can’t add it to apple wallet. I should also add that it has been over a week and I have not received the pass. To add to the complication, is hard to identify chargers as they do not have labels in front of them, and the communication is slow, laggy and sometimes it just does not connect. Simplest solution would be to add nfc to the app so that customers can just tap and charge.

Easy and fast. Had trouble charging and with the app the first time. After a few uses I got used to the experience. The app responds fast and accurate status.
