Awesome. Keep up the great work. Id love to see this app keep up years into the future as I think this really gives new life to the game. Maybe add a donate option, despite it being a paid app, into the main menu? Maybe half of the donations go to the app developer and half goes to DF devs? Just some food for thought.

Scam do not buy. First you have to pay for a server you can’t have your own private one for free, second the graphics are horrible do not buy save your time and money!

App itself works great, youre screwed if theres a subscription error however.. Nothing to do but wait for support from something that hasnt seem to been active since 2019

Worth Every Penny. I’ve played Dwarf Fortress off and on for years, but I found it very difficult to get quality PC gaming time when my daughter was born. Luckily right before kiddo number two, I’ve discovered and purchased this app. Game. Changer. It was remarkably easy to set up on my PC to run on my local network over WiFi, I simply downloaded matching version numbers of DFHack, the game, and the server files. A little cutting and pasting server files into the DF Hack folder and that’s it. Start the game, enter a couple of commands into DF Hack, run the remote on the iPad and everything worked on the very first try (YMMV). I can now play on my iPad in any room of the house, and I can even play one handed while laying down on the couch. A few things are tricky to do, but I’m also used to playing with Lazy Newb Pack so it’s probably just me. But I couldn’t see who had already been assigned to a bed as the names didn’t turn green like I used to. Small things like that. I’d like to see a few minor improvements, like the ability to designate mining by “drawing” with your finger, like you can do with the mouse using LNP. But after getting used to it, it’s very easy to use. 5/5 would pay even more to have “away from PC” access.

Almost as good as the best modded version of the game. This is *almost* the best way to play Dwarf Fortress, period. It's by far the best way to play on a device that can't run the game natively. Except for a few features, this has everything you need or could want. Being able to use touch to navigate and select is in many ways far superior to the standard keyboard or mouse controls.

If you play DF you need this app. Like the title says, if you play Dwarf Fortress and have ever wanted to play on the go, you need this app. I have been using it for a while now and it works surprisingly well. Lag is occasionally annoying, but only comes up every now and then. I do recommend using the free test setup app to make sure your server will work. What I did was set up the test server and check it on every network I could potentially be using (mobile data and my home and work wifi). The app is missing a couple of things I use a lot such as the legends viewer and a visual world map. I have seen that the developer is working on this. Despite the few missing features, the app runs very well and the UI is actually better than the UI in Dwarf Fortress itself! So check it out and you should have !!FUN!!

Five Star App with a Caveat. I just learned the dev could be releasing an update sometime in the near future according to Twitter. That’s very exciting, as this really is a functional way to play DF on Mobile, and it is clearly a labor of love. My 5 star review is predicated on the fact that this will undergo continued support, as I was under the impression this had sort of become abandonware. It does have a few oddities, but with such a huge game, and it being essentially free if you have a computer, any small gripes are not worth mentioning. This app has single-handedly allowed me to ply more DF than ever before. And that is worth some kudos in my book. Excellent work! Excited for updates!

Works as advertised, I'm really happy with it.. Only get this if you have any idea what dwarf fortress is. That being said, this app works completely as advertised. It's perfect for me and I haven't run into any problems yet. As long as you can get the server running on a computer (took me only a couple of minutes after downloading the proper files). There are some things that you can't control, but they aren't completely necessary. And I was surprised when right after I downloaded it, there was an update that fixed something, so it is still being actively worked on. The one thing I want from it is to be able to prepare for fortress mode, but the easy fix is to prepare using the computer then save the game to switch over to this app. Overall I'm really happy with this purchase. Oh and remember to save. My computer crashed for a completely different reason, and I didn't have any of my fort saved so I had to start over >.>

Works as advertised. Shockingly once I configured DF on a server in my home every thing worked out great. A few UX components are a little awkward but I was surprised by how much I could control and play. Haven't hit any bugs but I'm sure they'll crop up. Hopefully development continues and this client gets better and better! Great job!

Excellent. Played Dwarf Fortress vanilla to get a sense of it, then started using DF Remote. Such an awesome improvement over the standard. Made the game loads more approachable. Wouldn’t be surprised if this GUI made it into version 1.0! Please note: this is NOT the full game, a desktop is required to run the game while this utility makes the game more playable.

Amazing tool for playing DF on mobile. DISCLAIMER: This is NOT a mobile version of dwarf fortress. It is an app that lets you play on mobile through a server (I.e. your machine that already runs DF) Now, with that out of the way. This app is great. It makes playing DF possible on mobile at all, but it also makes some quality of life changes to the UI to make it work smoothly on mobile. There are some things that I wish were implemented through the app that I haven’t found yet (autolabor, workflow, vein miner) but overall the app is excellent. If you’ve never played DF before then you might want to watch some tutorials and then play on PC and muddle through some things prior to jumping in to the mobile version. All said I never thought playing DF on a mobile device would be a thing, much less become my go to form of playing the game. Great job guys!

Refund. I need a refund to df I was unaware that I needed a computer to set the game up not to mention how I have to pay a subscription to play anywhere please give me a refund

Not really playable.. I’ve been trying to play this on my iPhone the last few days and it’s not really playable. The UI is the biggest problem, it’s clunky but there are a lot of options that are missing. To give a few examples; you can’t create bedroom zones, when you create a storage yard there is no “select all” so you have to select everything manually every time, and you have to manually check your status and announcements.

Oh…. After paying for the software I thought I would be able to play the game. But then it asks for a monthly subscription to access a game that is already free on PC. I wish I could get my money back :/

Good way to play df without a computer. I broke my computer a while back and I was not able to play df. However I found this app! For $5 month I can play df without a computer! Now... if you already have a computer then you can just use your computer for free... but for me I need an alternative.... considering the fact tht I don’t have $1000 to spend on a computer. The only reason why this app is rated bad is because people clearly don’t read the description. However I would like to point out a few things 1.the app cost money, after the app purchase you can setup a server on your computer to play df on your phone within your WiFi, however you have the option to pay the app developer $5 a month to essentially be able to play df anywere without owning a computer 2. Considering tht df was made for the computer... the app developer had to make a new GUI... witch is great! 3. Certain features aren’t in the app for example, you can only play fortress mode, no rogue like mode, also can’t change loadout(however you can start the game on your computer first then start the server to be able to have custom load outs), and finally no world map.... so when you gen your world you can’t see it however there’s still a search option in the GUI.... Overall 100% recommend this app if you are unable to access a computer and want to play df anywere for a small fee

Number One Solution. Great solution to playing dwarf fortress remotely on iPad and phone. Extremely simple setup on my PC and the easiest way to experience DF for the first time. Saved me so much time with the preloaded tilesets and mods on PC. Super awesome and intuitive interface.

Best. App. Ever.. I am one of those people that has been trying to play DF for YEARS, occasionally downloading the latest version, but always inevitably bouncing off of the obtuse interface. Eventually, I just ended up settling for reading the hilarious stories of other people’s games, most notably the “Boatmurdered” saga. But frustrating UI be damned! Lo and behold I stumble across this app, and I am now gleefully playing DF with ease. This app is incredible because it does two things that I previously thought impossible: 1. It allows you to play DF on the go which is awesome enough, but also, 2. You play it with ridiculously easy to understand touchscreen controls. This app is a triumph if you are someone like me, who could never get past the laborious PC interface enough to gain the enjoyment that I saw all of these other people having and angrily wished I could have as well. I am so happy with this app it’s insane. I’ve deleted every other game off of my phone because DF IS the ultimate game. Bought and subscribed! Keep up the awesome work!

Refund?. Not playable

Was great, but abandoned. This was great back when the developer actively supported it. It seems like maybe the announcement of the steam version deterred them from working on it more? Kind of a bummer, I really liked this version but it’s insanely far behind the game now.

Stupid. I hate this dumb game you have to set up an entire server that takes so long that I start stressing. I uninstalled the game and wasted my money Bad game

STUPID. WHATS THE POINT IN THE GAME IF I CANT PLAY IT

Great App - Only Missing Feature is Sound. The interface is even better on touch. Just need that sound, and this is a five star app.

Works great. Also read the description people.. This app works perfectly and I’m sad to see all the people who wrote negative reviews since they didn’t read the description. A lot of controls are even more intuitive Than dwarf fortress on the Pc. But I have said goodby to my boring work breaks.

Need pc. Either you need a pc or you pay $5 a month if you don’t have a Pc like me you’ll be wasting money

Please continue development.. Hey, this app is amazing! Being able to commit dwarven warcrimes on mobile is amazing as all other reviews state, only problem is that this is 2 years outdated and still has a few bugs. I can’t seem to find any updates past 2019, do you plan to continue development?

Remote server subscription does not work. Trialed the server subscription model, but it simply doesn’t work. Allows a world to be created, but when attempting to play every action sends the app into a endless “initialization” loop forcing a manual shutdown of the app. Unfortunately there is little online support to troubleshoot the problem, so I’ll just check back in a few weeks to see if the bugs have been worked out (or if the server is just simply down).

Awesome. I was surprised how well this app works. The UI and controls actually make the game even more accessible than playing on pc. I haven't tried connecting to my own server running on my own local computer, but the hosted server subscription has been great and I have had no issues at all. Worth the app purchase price and worth the subscription if you are frequently mobile or just don't want to bother song things up yourself. I hope the app continues to get updated and improved!

Wonderful app & game! Actively supported!. If you’re familiar with DF, you know it’s a great game and not only how rich and deep it is, but also how influential it has been on gaming, essentially spawning multiple genres of computer games. This app allows you to access that rich, deep gaming experience on your freaking *phone*, which is another level of amazing. The app is actively supported and updated and the developer was very responsive to me reaching out to report issues. He was very patient and helpful in resolving an issue with the server subscription, which he fixed in a couple of days after reporting it. Overall, while this is not the steam premium version on your iOS device, it is a very, very good UI for touch screens and is the only way to get access to DF on your ios device directly (ie not screen sharing). A lot of thought and effort has clearly gone into how to access game features from a remote client UI and I’m loving it!

How to play?. How do you get to the game? I’ve tried but I just want to build my own king under the mountain.

Fantastic!!!. Not only is this an amazing idea AND implementation but the developer is extremely responsive. I absolutely love this... it has been a staple for me and I hope the developer keeps this going. Incredible work! Dwarf Fortress is an oasis in the modern desert of gaming, and this developer brought this ray of hope to iPad. Game changer, thank you thank you thank you.

Ah, good. It is working now. Great alternative.. I had to uninstall and reinstall the client to get rid of the tileset issue. I really enjoyed the iPad interface before, and while I love the Steam release (especially Steam Deck support), I like the iPad experience a lot. Thanks, Mifki!

Refund. Can’t even play

Doesn’t work.. Was fun when I got it to work, but I gave up on trying to make it work again after struggling for a long time and haven’t tried again in a long time. Even like a year ago you couldn’t play the newest version of dwarf fortress, and I believe it still hasn’t been updated.

Most underrated way to play Dwarf Fortress. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this app til last week. This has easily become my favorite way to play DF! It fixes all the gripes that I have with the original controls and UI, and even adds extra ways to manage things that you can’t use in Vanilla! Can’t wait for this to update after the Steam Release! P.S. a lot of people are saying you need to pay for a subscription on this. You don’t, that’s only if you want them to host your game. You can easily set up a server that runs in the background on your laptop/PC (by following the instructions on their website) and connect to it instead.

Ridiculous. 3.99 for the game and then 4.99 a month to play!?!? Where is the headline for that? Would have never downloaded that game if I knew it was like this. Refund please!!!!

Outstanding game! Please update the version to 0.47. First of all, Thank you! Secondly, please please please update to version 0.47.

Confused. Paid four dollars for the app but it won’t let me play without paying more for a subscription

Good. I give this 4 stars because it is a really good app and it works pretty well. When I first started the map the screen was black except for the menu options but going in to settings and changing the tileset fixed that. The only real issue I have is that sometimes it will just lose connection and you won't be able to use the app until you get back to your computer and restart the program

Play Dwarf Fortress on an iDevice and it actually works great!!. When I saw this app that can be used on an iPhone or iPad to play a game of Dwarf Fortress running on my PC I thought naaaaa, can't look good, how can it be playable on an iPhone screen.... It's amazing! It works as well if not better than playing on a PC. I thought it would be to small to see on my iPhone. It's not. I keep a game of Dwarf Fortress running on my desktop and use this app to to connect to it and play Dwarf Fortress so I can get my fix anytime. This is well worth the cost. I just read the bad reviews and most of them didn't understand what they were getting into. **You need to have Dwarf Fortress running on a PC or you can rent a server to remotely run the game from this apps author.** If this doesn't make sense to you then this may not be for you. It takes a bit of setup that requires a little technical knowledge but this does not make it a bad app.

Magical. Dwarf Fortress would probably be too memory, CPU, and storage demanding to be useful on the iPad, so the only logical solution is to run it on a server, and remote to it. This implementation, and the accompanying server bundle with plugin were dead simple to setup on my home Mac Mini and I was playing in minutes. The interface is rather intuitive for a game originally based around a text and keyboard interface, so the purchase price is worth the effort invested. Also, if you like DF, be sure to support the original developer too! Be sure to start with the developer's free DF Remote Test app, that's what sold me on the fact this product works at least at a minimal technical level. Honestly, my hopes were low, but the paid app delivered very well on the promise of a graphics set and iPad interface to DF.

Dwarf Fortress mobile!!!. With the new update that allows you to use their servers this app has officially become dwarf Fortress mobile! I never thought I’d be able to pull out my phone and play dwarf fortress wherever I am. You now don’t need to have a PC running to use this app. The UI is designed specifically for mobile and I honestly find it easier to play on the phone. I don’t really see a need to ever play on PC again. I fully recommend getting this game if you’re familiar with dwarf fortress.

The perfect DF app. Absolutely amazing. I now no longer play DF on my computer anymore as the ipad interface is simply better. Best 4 dollars I ever spent on an app. Developer consistently updates for new versions of the game and fixes bugs and improves the UI.

Thank You. The server hosting is amazing. Thank you for creating this.

Great but incomplete. This app is great, and what’s there works well. Will be 5 stars when remaining functionality is added.

Wow!. I don’t ever leave reviews but I feel this one deserves it, the ability to play dwarf fortress on your phone is amazing! The server was a bit hard to set up but it was very rewarding once I got it.

Amazing for learning this great game!. I’m so impressed with this app. The creator has managed to improve on the famously rough user interface of the regular game. I’ve bounced off of this game before but now I’m making progress. Having it in my pocket whenever I have a few minutes to play is a game changer. Nice graphics and good user interface make this a very pleasant experience. Keep up the great work!

don’t waste your money. The devs clearly need to update this. I tried to connect to my computer but every single time it says connection fail. I tried contacting support, and it’s been 2 weeks and I still haven’t heard back. I could definitely recommend this game on computer and maybe it works fine with the paid subscription, but if u buy this to go along with your laptop your just going to be wasting your money.

Server error. I just bought this yesterday as well as the server subscription due to me being unable to access my computer. I have had it for ONE DAY and now it’s saying system error. I paid the subscription for a service and the game is useless for me without said service. Fix it, give me my money back, or be prepared for a law suite for not upholding your side of the terms and agreement!

Forget playing DF on your computer, play it this way. So I used to play a lot of DF years ago. And then I stopped. And going back I was finding the UI harder to work with then before. This app changes everything. Vitaly has done something truly amazing here. He has taken what is arguably the most complex and difficult game ever created and made it a pleasure to play. Granted, the original structure of the UI is still there. But the touch interface makes it a joy to play. I don't even play DF sitting at my computer anymore. I only play with my iPad and iPhone now. And being able to open up DF remote on my phone during lunch and play my main fortress is amazing! There are a few issues but nothing that would have me not recommend this app. Because those issues reside in the original game. And it can be a bit of a challenge to get setup if you are not familiar with DF. I had a problem with playing through cellular for the first few days but it is sorted out now. Vitaly has a help system built right in so you can communicate directly with him. Awesome developer, awesome app, awesome support and the most awesome game ever... in my pocket anywhere. Keep it up Vitaly! I hope to see more additions in the future. Hoping adventure mode makes it over and I hope to be able to do more detailed embarking one day too. I would gladly pay $$$ to have adventure mode added. Hint*Hint. :-)

Not Up to Date. It works pretty good overall but it’s multiple versions behind the computer version and for a paid product should probably be updated to the most recent version of Dwarf Fortress

Amazing!. Works perfect, amazing. I was reluctant to pay for this but it is worth every cent if you want to play Dwarf Fortress.

Please add iPadOS keyboard support!. Love DF remote, and while the touch interface is great it would be so much better with keyboard support!

Bad, I want a refund. I paid $5.99 for it then I have to pay an additional $5 or more fee every month just to play the damn thing

Might not be what you think.. Firstly this is amazing, it’s a fantastic app that will let you play dwarf fortress from the comfort of a iOS device while solving a lot of problems. If you’re reading this, make sure you know what you are buying first. There is a bit of a setup. You will need to download Dwarf fortress onto your PC, install a few mods and then host the game. Then you can buy this app to control your game that is running on your PC. You might be asking “but why not just port the game to mobile?” Well firstly, the developers would need to give permission for that. More importantly, dwarf fortress will melt your phone. The game can have fairly high demands on your CPU. This app therefore is a brilliant idea as it allows you to play dwarf fortress on your phone without having to worry about how it runs on your less powerful iOS device.

Dwarf Fortress anywhere!!. Great app. Runs very smoothly and the UI is well thought out. Plays well on both iPhone and ipad. Amazing to be able this anywhere!

Not the full game. Requires a desktop server or additional $5 per month to use. This isn’t clearly spelt out

The only app available. This is the only app available that allows you to play dog remotely. I have set up external servers for play via my phones LTE network and at home wifi. It works like a dream! Honestly, there is no better way to play dwarf fortress away from your computer than this app. The developer must be a die hard fan. If you’re reading this review I’m assuming you are too. All the more reason to buy it.

Wow. I'm extremely impressed with how well this works. While it's a bit tedious trying to play without a stylus, I feel like I might almost prefer this app to PC with one.

May The Tree-Huggers Burn. An extraordinarily well designed application runs extremely smoothly the interface is very intuitive and clean. The instructions on how to set up the server very clear. For anyone that has a love for DF and would like to remotely play this game through iPhone/iPad this is a great tool. For anyone not familiar with the game this might actually be a great place to try it out. As The interface is very easy to use(one of the biggest hurdles when getting into the game). This is an amazing app keep updating and maintaining I would recommend this any day.

Fantastic!. I was slightly confused at first by the instructions, but once I figured it out it worked excellently. I love this interface! More convenient and fun than a mouse and keyboard. I will recommend this to friends and other players.

Disappointed no updates for 2 years. Seems like this app has been abandoned. Would avoid purchasing as it will not work with her versions of dwarf fortress

Amazing port. Kudos to the dev for figuring out a way to play such a complex game on something simple like an iPhone or iPad, and actually improve significantly on the ui. I love how easy to use the interface is, and even though I find keyboard shortcuts to be faster in general, touch inputs give the game a bit of a “tactile” feel. I currently am using the subscription service offered through the app, which lets me create and manage save files over a provided server. My issues: a lack of (to me) essential Dfhack plug-ins like workflow, autolabour, digcircle and digvein, which are all excellent plugins that work to simplify some of the more stressful parts of the game. There is also currently no way to choose custom embark locations or profiles, other than basic parameters and default starting setups. You can however start a game on PC, choose your location and embark profile, and upload your save onto the server. Regardless, all of these complaints are minor and only serve as quality-of-life improvements that I hope the dev considers in the future, as well as updating the game to the latest version. Pick this up either if you love dwarf fortress and want to play it anywhere with internet, or if you’ve always wanted to play dwarf fortress but couldn’t get past the clunky UI.

Look great. I buy dwarf fortress remote on my phone to try it because it look good but when i get in the game it say me that i must create a server. Ok but how all time it say me password invalid .i need help!!!

Works great!. Works smooth and feels like DwarfFortress. Thank you so much.

The best. Very good app. It warms my heart that I can bring my murderous midgets where ever I go.

Mobile DF?. Look past the bad reviews. The setup requires use of a laptop, but takes under 5 minutes. I recommend reading the review by CowTipping_Extremist.

Waste of money. I can't figure out how to set up a stupid server. Just get dwarf fortress on your computer for free instead of paying $3 for this piece of crap.

It’s great but abandoned.. The concept of this is amazing. It’s almost perfect, until I ran into a bug that made it unplayable. The bug I found was that any time I created a squad no matter what kind or how many dwarves I had in it, if I tried to open the menu to give them a command like attack or even move the app would crash. I’ve tried turning the DF server on and off, I’ve tried turning my phone on and off. No luck. I find out Mifki (the developer) has a site and there’s a contact email. I figured I’d email him about the issue and didn’t receive a reply at all. This has been several months now that I’ve sent it in. Also seeing how the last update was in over 2 years ago in 2019, I can’t help but feel their priorities changed. Which is fine however you should either un-list the game on the AppStore or (more favorably) open up the source code to the community. That way we could update it to run on the most recent version of DF and also fix any left over bugs that were left. It could also be made free beside the option to run a server for a couple bucks a month. And also we could even try to implement an Adventurer mode because as of right now you can only do Fortress mode. All in all, I did have an enjoyable experience using the app besides the bugs and out dated nature of it. The UI is impeccable for what this game actually is. I was astonished how easily I picked it up compared to having to remember all the key bindings. You really have done a great job with this. It’s just a shame that you left it. I’ll be happy to update my review if you end up reaching out or at least un-abandoning it. For now I’m leaving it a 1 star to hopefully get the attention of those who need it.

Spent $$ and can’t use it. Spent the $$ and the version is 43.** It needs to update to the latest, 44.11

DF portable. No, this app doesn't play DF on your phone. But yes it does allow you to remotely control it on a server (your regular pc) and play through a better UI on your iDevice. I've used it when 3000 miles from home with no problems. So if this is a use case you'd want, this does it really well.

Good game but.... I don't really like to make a world in my pic but overall it's a really good game (Question -->) can you use the game on the go?

Perfect. This app works perfectly for me. The user interface is better than I could have imagined. Overall, this is very VERY good. Thanks so much to the dev for making this. Been wishing for it for a long time.

Amazing. Works like an absolute dream! I highly recommend this for anyone who has ever wanted to manage your dwarves on the go, or even from your sofa. The interface is smooth, and adding tile sets is a breeze.

Developer forgot to provide gameplay. Disregard the video and screenshots. Those are for the desktop version. For some reason, there is no gameplay in this game. Only a server screen.

WASTE OF MONEY!!. This app was a waste of money. The app directs you to their website where it gives u instructions to get what ever you need to play on your phone but u need to do it on a pic or laptop. Maybe the next update will let you create worlds your phone/device with out a computer.

Something of a Dream. Great customer service to boot. Thanks.

?. I cant even play im so confused. Also i want a refund

Good game. I like it. It is fun to play after you find out how to set up a server. The set up takes a bit to understand. This app does a good job with everything else after that though.

The way it was meant to be. In the past I tried to learn Dwarf Fortress and failed every time. You see, DF is a crazily complicated unintuitive free-to-play PC game that was birthed sometime in the early 2000s. The learning curve is violently steep, and it requires a major investment in time and effort to understand or enjoy. It can also be brutally hard for new players--more an exercise in masochism than a game--and death is permanent. There is no "back up to an earlier save point" function in the game to act as a safety net. Worse still, the "graphics" are virtually nonexistent; it's essentially a text-based game. There are mods that provide visuals, but installing mods Day 1 is just another hurdle for a newbie. That said, DF also has a cult following who praise the game's depth and ability to be modded. It may be complex, they say, but the fun it provides is well worth the time spent learning. They also embrace the difficulty, humorously referring to it as "fun." It's the kind of game that, were it not an unintuitive throwback to the days of the BBS, I would normally love. I've tried to play it before on the computer and gave up in frustration. Then along came this app. DF Remote isn't a game: it's effectively a mod that runs DF on your comp but lets you play it on a tablet. It's also the best thing to happen to DF. Ever. 1) The barrier to entry is so much lower! Forced to channel all the game's commands into a simplified touch interface, the app dev has created a way of bypassing much of the complexity. No matter how obscure the original rules are, all I have to know is that I can touch stuff to make stuff happen. This may seem trivial, but in the core game I had no clue what stuff there was, how to interact with it, or even if they was stuff to begin with. 2) Graphics! The graphics in DF Remote are small icons. You can achieve similar results via modding the core game. Q: Why is the iPad implementation better? A: Because I don't mind simplified visuals on a tablet. As a matter of fact, I expect them. There are several more reasons I want to type (not the least of which is a super-responsive dev who responded to my bug report and gave me a hotfix the very same day I sent the bug report in), but this is long-winded enough. Bottom line: 1) Do you like extremely robust, in-depth strategy games that let you pause gameplay and take your time considering options? Do you like taking a small gaggle of Dwarves and building them into a sprawling Dwarven kingdom against extreme odds? Do you like city-building? How about surviving against bouts of freezing/boiling temperatures, flooding rivers/erupting lava, invasions from fantasy races, attacks by megabeasts who topple your stone structures like Legos, Dwarves who get sick by drinking from the pond what has corpses floating in it, hauntings by Dwarf ghosts who are enraged because you haven't buried them proper-like, possessed Dwarves who go on murderous killing sprees because you didn't get them something in time, outbreaks of werewolves, werelizards, were-insertanimalhere, etc., etc.? If yes, then consider donating online to Bay 12 games for this wonderful game. I will, now that I've had the opportunity to understand and play it. 2) Do you want to enjoy the above game in a superior touch interface that streamlines much of the gameplay, removes a significant chunk of the learning curve, and provides better graphics to boot? If yes, then buy DF Remote. It's worth every penny and is frankly one of the best purchases I've ever made on the App Store.

Fantastic way to play df. This is a great way to play dwarf fortress, and I love how it feels to do things like manage labors compared to the native version.

Unbelievable!. This is so much fun. Even provides a Docker image for DF server so you can host in the cloud for free to cheap. Hopefully adventure mode is coming soon. I would gladly pay. Thank you so much for bringing a game I like to play to the iPhone.

Horrible. Could not figure out how to creat a server

Misleading. I downloaded this thinking "oh, I can play dwarf fortress on my phone! And I can hopefully do it on a plane or out of the house," but it is actually used to play it on your phone next to your computer for some reason, so you need a computer and internet connection, making this basically useless and misleading and a huge waste of money.

Best App I have used!. This app is amazing. Anyone that loves dwarf fortress will love the ablity to use their iPad to play. All functionality is available in the iPad app and is very simple and easy to use. The tileset is fantastic and you can seemlessly switch between the remote and you PC to play. I this is a must have app for anyone that loves Dwarf Fortress.

This app is *fun*. I was skeptical getting this app. Sounded too good to be true. Well it's not. Works great. Smooth, pretty, customizable. Uses your computer as a server. Just make sure you open your port on your router. That's the hardest part. I think they may be working out some bugs cause I had trouble with trading with the elves.

Thanks for this!. Love the app. Works like a charm. Thanks for making DF mobile! Ignore the reviews from people who can't figure out the very simple server setup. Update: Hey Dev. Any plans to update the app for v44.xx?

"Fun". Love this, thanks for your hard work!

Really Great!. I've been trying to get my husband to play dwarf fortress forever but the interface was a deal breaker. Using the phone as an intermediary he's having a blast. This is such a cool app and gets updated frequently. Thanks so much for making this!

Pretty Neat. Don't let the overall rating fool you. The bad reviews are because people can't figure out how to run a server. I'm connecting to my remote client fine. One recommendation is that you get a remote connection application for your iPad and computer so you can set up your server if it isn't running.

Dwarf Fortress Remote Game Customer Service, Editor Notes:

This update fixes a few issues, including missing designation dimensions display and changes to shadow density setting not applied right away. We also added a small border around rough-hewn walls to help them stand out from the surrounding floor in certain situations. The border opacity can be adjusted in settings. Lastly, we made some fixes and improvements to the tileset.
