Love it. Funny story. I’m a teacher and one of my student’s assignments was to create an app. I used the example I am recently gluten free and it would be nice if I had an app that scanned barcodes. The next day one of my students came to me saying she found this app. I had never looked! Please keep adding to the inventory. Great job so far. I love it!

Tremendous tool. I am new to GF and am shocked at how many seemingly safe products have gluten added or are possibly contaminated during processing. This app has given me more confidence in my choices and I love the scanning feature. Bravo!

This is our “go to” app at the store!. This app is so helpful. My 16 year old son with celiac relies on this app. And if it says “can contain gluten” he won’t eat it, even if the ingredients font list wheat, barley, rye, spelt. With that said, how often is it updated? I saw a GF ice cream list online, your app says “can contain gluten” in many of the items, specifically talking about Blue Bunny Bunny Tracks. But I’m in no way complaining. VERY happy with this app!

Convenient but.... This app is convenient, but there is almost no information on how they determine whether items are gluten free or not. You are left to assume that they know what they are doing. We’ve learned the hard way not to assume. I contacted the company and did not receive a response.

White out. I could like the app, but I have to delete it and reinstall it, I have had it about three hours and have had to do it twice, when I scan the whole page is white and you can’t to anything but click the home button and delete the app. Plus I’m charged each time! It’s a great app, if it works,

Very Unhappy. Just bought this app and was all excited thinking it would be easier to find stuff GF considering I have a Gluten intolerance. I tried to scan these HEB pork meatballs we got and it said “no record found” and then we tried to search them to no avail. I’m disappointed in this app that is pretty pricey at $4 for something basic that isn’t even updated properly.

Essential for Celiac Disease and Gluten Allergies. It isn't perfect. Many times products are not found in the database, sometimes I find things mislabeled. But I always check ingredient lists anyway. This app saves me time of reading through the vast majority of wheat containing products. When I find a product that I think looks good it is reassuring to "double check" with the scanner. Totally worth the price and peace of mind.

Grocery shopping with DH. Quick, easy, and useful app. Purchased right after coming home from first (post diagnosis), ever frustrating, trip to Kroger. My eyes hurt from reading labeling to make safe choices. I then scanned my pantry’s contents with the app and 90% items were in the databases. Thank You!!!!!

Advertisers should take note of this app. Cons: the “no internet connection” error message is common and annoying. Everyone I know with the app experiences it. Happens on WiFi and cell signal. The upside of this issue is I have always been able to correct it by just closing and opening the app. Unless I am missing it there isn’t an easy way to submit items that aren’t in the database for review so they can see what we’re looking at and get it added. Also not seeing restaurants and fast food gf menu items. Pluses: very fast and easy to use. Massive database of food items. Varied results gf/may contain/has gluten, trustworthiness, and a lot of suggested gf food to look through like cookies etc. If you are shopping for gf this app is a must, period. I think the app is missing a lot of involvement from restaurants, fast food, and tons of the gf products in the database. Many restaurants, pizza places, fast food etc are adding gf or are totally gf. Why aren’t they in this app? I would love to be able to see a list of gf restaurants, bakeries and menu items/options for fast food etc on this app. Their marketing departments should look to participate in this app to make it a one stop shop for gf and get more exposure too. But again, if you want or need gf, this is the best app for you. We have used it for a long time and scanned many hundreds of items.

Life saver. My daughter has celiac and it has been a nightmare shopping for her. My trips to the grocery store took 3-4 hours. We were always questioning the items and had to look everything up. This app makes shopping quick and simple. Mostly everything is in it. It has also made it so she can go to friends houses and check things herself without having to feel weird. Seriously the best app I have ever used.

Very helpful in the grocery store. Just got this because we think or daughter had a gluten intolerance. Paid for the full app right off the bat while I was shopping. Started scanning immediately and it worked perfectly on every single item I scanned. Thanks!!!

Very useful but.... This is a great app. We have celiac in our household and this can save hours of time in the grocery store which is where I use it most (especially if you’re newly diagnosed). In fact, I scanned an item marked GF and it came up “can contain gluten.” Yikes! But, also a couple of drawbacks: - I can tap on an item in the History tab, but there is no “back” button; so when when I go back to the History it always goes back to the top of the page instead of where I left off. - Like others, the same items that are not in the free version are also not in the full version. My husband has the free version and I have the paid version (same type phones also) so we try it on both. Other than that, I would highly recommend this app.

Needs an update. I have a gluten intolerance and this is super helpful. I especially love the scanning option, I do wish that when I went to Ana item, that when I hit the back button, it didn’t send me all the way to the top of the subsection. Example: when I select “candy and chocolate” then scroll down to and select “CASHEW COOKIE”. When I hit the back button, it sends me all the way back to the top of the “candy and chocolate” section. Also, maybe adding a favorites option so when seeing friends or relatives that are not celiac or gluten intolerant you can send them your favorites list of safe seasonings and sauces and other things that you can eat. Just a thought. This really is a great tool to have

Gluten stinks. I have Celiac disease and I find out alot from this app but sometimes I can’t get it in the store. But it has helped me alot. I didn’t know there was such thing as wheat meat Thanks for having the app for people like me. Keep up the good work

Doesn’t work!!!. I was very excited about this app so I just decided to download the full version, and so disappointed because I keep getting a msg saying no internet connection... I can tell you with confidence that My internet is not the issue because I’ve been working in IT for a long time. I even tried downloading it on my IPad and same issue... I keep getting msg: NO INTERNET CONNECTION FOUND... I will give it one more day and if it doesn’t work I will get a refund..

A life saver. I am newly gluten free. This app has taken the stress out of shopping. It is so responsive. It tells me quite simply if an item has gluten or not. Especially great when I forget my reading glasses when shopping. Too many items have type that is too small.

Lifesaver!. This app is amazing. My daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease a month ago and we as a family are all going gluten free with her. I have honestly been lost as we’re to start and begin. This app will be a lifesaver.

Database missing too many things. As a newly diagnosed Celiac patient, I am looking for an app that I can quickly scan items while shopping. I don’t want to spend all day at the store reading every label, I just want a quick yes or no. This could be a good app, but so many common items are missing from the database. I could understand store brand products missing, but Ruffles chips and Ben’s rice? These are national brands!

Super handy, time saving. The scanner makes it easy to remove from your cupboard any gluten-containing foods you have. As a new celiac pt, without this it would take HOURS to read all the labels. Also it suggests gluten free brands for when you are shopping for soy sauce etc etc

Good, just needs an upgrade. This app is very useful, I just wish for how much I paid they could have added in more items a lot of them are not in the bar scanner which is disappointing.

Great Help for Change. As a guy with lupus going gluten free after 50 years is tough. This app is helping me realize that there are plenty of options to be able to still enjoy eating! I don't have celiac but if I can remove 90 to 95% of my gluten I think it will help my lupus. The app is simple and intuitive. Please continue to add to your database.

Easy to use and very helpful. I was just diagnosed as celiac. I love to be able to scan and get instant information. And I can leave feedback on products that say gluten free but app says it might contain- their dietician checks out the ingredients and gets back to you

Thank you! 🤗. I have Celiac Disease, and so does my child. This app saves me time and frustration while grocery shopping. It also gives me peace of mind to have a source that confirms items are gluten free. Often people ask me if something is gluten free, and I can use this app to search for that information. Using this app is better than using the internet to search for such answers, as internet searches were often useless due to being outdated or not clearly stated. Sometimes answers on the internet can not be found, or they take too long to find. I use this app everyday. Thank you so very much for the help this app provides for our health and convenience.

i like it but. i was recently diagnosed with Celiac a few months ago and this app has been very helpful in finding new snacks and foods and saving time finding them. however, the app has started to mess up in the way that i’ll want to scan something so i open it, it takes me to the search part, and i click on the scanner. but when i tap on it, it immediately pulls up “no internet connection found” even when i’m at home on wifi so i have to close the app and go back in to make it work which gets very frustrating when i’ve spent $4 on this app. i’m not sure if it’s just my phone or if it’s a problem with the app. i also don’t like that when i search something and click on an item, i click to go back and it takes me all the way to the top of the list. other than that, it’s a good app and it has been helpful in finding new foods to eat

Don’t bother paying, app doesn’t work at all. I downloaded the free version of the app first, but it didn’t provide all of the features that I needed. So I paid $3.99 to download the full version. That was a total waste of money as doesn’t work at all. If you scan a barcode, nothing happens. If you try to search by name, again, nothing happens. I even tried to email my issues through the “contact us” tab provided in the app, and it won’t let me send the email. Waste of money.

Helpful, but took away the most important part. At 23 years old I was diagnosed with celiac disease and this app was/is so incredibly helpful! My only complaint is that when I first downloaded the app and scanned products it would tell you which ingredients weren't gluten free, which was pivotal in helping me learn what I could and could not eat being newly diagnosed. During one of the updates for the app, they took away that feature and I wish they would bring it back!

Great App!. My granddaughter has celiac, and I depend on this app. It has been wonderful until this last week. When I try to scan, it comes up with check internet connection and shuts off. It happens in the store and at home with wifi. I have to uninstall and reinstall to get it to work. Then it does it again. Please help me. Thank you! It is working now! This app is a lifesaver!

Awesome app!!!. Love this app, takes the guessing out , especially when you at the grocery store and an item has ingredients that you can’t figure out , the restaurant info is awesome.

Not found!. I use to use this app all the time but now it’s like every time I try to use it, it can’t find what I’m scanning. I was actually getting on to see if it needed to be updated (it doesn’t, updated last week) because I scanned a sauce that has been in my pantry for months, so it’s not even new and it couldn’t find it.

Top of the List!!. I APPsolutely love this App. It’s so convenient and fast. Use it frequently in the grocery store. Very helpful to keep me on track with the gluten free life. My only disappointment with it is that I wish there were an option to put a personal note on the items. I.e. - the products that say “May Contain Gluten”. I’ve contacted product manufacturer of some to question them and have found out that it is or isn’t and would like to document that so I have it for the next time. Also the same for unfound items or items not in the database. It would be great to add these as I’m from New Orleans and some of our local items aren’t listed. Thanks.

Super convenient and reliable. This app is super-super helpful for people with gluten-sensitivity or celiac. I've been using it myself for a few months, and even though it doesn't cover every item out there, it can give you some reassurance on most items. It's been especially great for helping my friends and family find reliable groceries to cook that won't make me sick. Definitely a life-changer. :)

So far have never been given wrong info. Diagnosed with Celiac late in life, this app has really been a great help when shopping for GF products. I started using the free app, but quickly moved on to the paid version (which btw is very reasonably priced). Thanks to the creator of app for one of the most helpful apps in the store.

So Helpful !. I'm new to this game. Going around the store zapping barcodes with my phone was not only ideal but it was fun. Really hoping that if something is not in their system and we need to know if it's GF of not that their is some way we can communicate with the developers to let them know. "Hey this product isn't in there. Do you think you could do some research for me so next time I can purchase it ?"

Great App. This has taken the guess work out of whether I should buy something or not. If it’s packaged it’s harder to determine if all the ingredients are in fact gluten free and let’s face it there’s so much packaged food nowadays. This is really helpful!

Love the idea- but issues!. So Aldi, Whole Foods and Giant Eagle are most common for having a lot of GF options. As of today - the “search ingredients” part of the app is broken/ not working/ won’t search. Also- if there was a photo of the actual ingredients list, that would be super helpful as most celiac has other issues/ allergies and would be nice to see all in one place. If you opened it up w that- I think you’d expand your audience! Aldi has the most items that are “regular” not labeled GF and has half the amount of garbage, ingredients you can’t even pronounce, I would love to see these items in your list. Since one they are healthier already and even cheaper - people w celiac are also spending more - so this dramatically helps! Thanks for this app. When it does work- it’s nice.

Life is good. After recently becoming gluten free I have found this app to be of free at benefit. It’s so nice to be able to grocery shop and scan items to see if they are gluten free. This app has made my transition very easy!! Thank you!!

I’m about to eat my self. Have you ever watch a man eat his own head? I’m about to. I really thought this was going to be so hard with a new diet . But it’s so easy to use this app to find food and ingredients. I was so scared because I was just planning on eating my own head . Not no more . I’m eating good and it’s healthy! Very helpful. My grand daughter has to follow a GF diet. She is coming to stay for a week and I am GF ignorant. I downloaded the app this morning and just went to the grocery store. The app worked flawlessly! It simplified the whole shopping experience and I didn’t have to try to line up my bifocals on the list of ingredients. Thanks for making my day better!

AMAZING APP. This makes food shopping so much easier. The majority of items I scan come up. There are however a few that do not. I love this app it made life so much easier!!!

Helpful. I’m new to GF as I have just been diagnosed with Celiacs. This app is very helpful. With only 2 things I can see is needed, which will put it over the top of all the other apps out there. 1). If it had a favorites list that I could add items I painstakingly found and would like to be able to keep as a favorite to assist my family and friends with some things I safely and enjoy eating. 2). When searching from a list and you click on it I can’t go back to the location I was at. The screen goes all the way back to the top of the list - very frustrating.

Life saver!!!. At the age of 26 I was recently informed that I needed to stay away from gluten. This had been something I didn't realize was in EVERYTHING!!! At least that's how I felt. This app has made this process and shopping so easy for me. I use it everywhere!!!!

SAVED MY LIFE. I’m allergic to all grains so I’m beyond being a celiac. This app has literally saved my life. It would be great if we could personalize the app a little more(ie listing specific allergens) so when we scan something it will say has this has an allergen in here! There is a long list of preservatives I can’t have. I’m also soy and dairy reactive too!! Just Okay. I feel like $3.99 is alot to pay for this particular app. I originally bought it to help me navigate going gluten free but I am finding a majority of what I scan/look up isn’t even listed in the app. I will probably keep it for a bit longer just to see if anything changes but if not it is easier and takes less time to google the item.

The database is extensive and rarely do I scan a product that isn't recognized within the app. I am devastatingly intolerant to gluten and this has caught so many products that are to the naked eye "safe." (Btw, gluten is a horrible clump of proteins. Intolerant or not, wheat is an empty filler in crap food.)

YES YES YES. I 💙 this app! I have had painful symptoms that would not go away for weeks. I've been researching the symptoms and celiac disease came up and I was so scared. But I tried gluten for a day and I feel fine. But now that I have this app I think, I know, I'll be fine.

What's the point. I bought this so I could scan products to see if hey are GF. I bought the paid version and it still didn't find the product by a major company. :( Pointless.

Celiac savior. My son was diagnosed with Celiac disease and this has been a godsend.

Not accurate. More than once I’ve accidentally bought something that the scanner says is ok (ordered online). Turn the packaging and it says “contains wheat”. My mistake, but this app is not reliable.

White screen, won't open. This app is amazing! My child was just diagnosed with celiac and this app has been so helpful!! If your scanner isn't working, email them and they'll fix it for you!

Not worth the money....just use the free one!. This is the first app I have ever purchased. Regretting it! Just found out that my 11 year old daughter has celiac disease. Trying to be a diligent mom so I bought this app. The first two items I scanned were not on there. I was scanning a very popular item so I was shocked when it wasn’t on the full version!

Needs more foods in database. Bought the full version because I do a lot of shopping at Trader Joe's and couldn't locate their products in the free version. They aren't in the full version either. Definitely needs a lot more products added if they want people to buy it.

Paid twice. I paid twice and the scanner does not work. It’s very frustrating and when I searched the item it says may contain gluten, it’s either it does or doesn’t how does it may contain gluten help me? I want a refund.

Too many things not in the database. My husband bought this for me and I was so excited at first. One item I scanned was a plain chocolate flavor and it kept coming back with cookie crunch flavor. That brand had that flavor but it definitely was not the one I was scanning.

Not worth it...... It can read 1 out of 15 barcodes (for me). I don’t like how it just flashes yellow. It doesn’t say what makes it a caution product. I usually end up googling the product for an answer. Would NOT buy again.

Refund?. I bought this twice by accident and cannot get a refund on one? Ugh.

Database needs increase / user submissions. Ipiit and Fitbit allow for users to submit entries to be added to the database if the item isn’t there. GlutenFree Scanner, even in the paid version, does not. It also doesn’t have a wide enough database.

Keeps crashing. Samsung works. iPhone not so much.. Over 100 attempts at scanning and the screen just goes white after every scan. Need to kill the app to get out of the white screen. My wife's Samsung seems to work great- my iPhone 12 Pro Max- not so much.

Scanner not recognizing all products-edited review. often a review is not available and it says it’s because I need the “FULL” version of the app, but I am using full version . Confused. (Developer response - as I stated in first review submittal- I AM using the non free version and I get that response)

Barcode not found. I recently got the full version thinking it would have more product results and was very disappointed. Only 1 of the 5 things I scanned actually pulled up whether it was gluten free or not. Total waste of money

It’s okay. I enjoyed the app however, there are barely any codes on the app so you can’t really see if what you have is gluten free only items that are related to that barcode. Doesn’t really make sense

Worthless. Nothing I scan comes up. Developer told me to scan more items or use the search feature. The only items listed are those that are obviously marked “gluten free” on the packaging. I don’t need an app to tell me what I can read on the package.

Wonderful. About a year ago I was diagnosed with celiac and this has been a great help. I only wish they could add foods from Trader Joe’s but other than that it scans just about anything.👏👏👏

Wonderful help!. This app is more than helpful. My daughters health and wellbeing depends on gluten free food. She was recently diagnosed and is doing well. This app helps immensely. Only wish? I wish it was more easily found. I wasn't sure what it was called and I could not find it in the Apple Store. I searched the entire list my iPad app gave me. Great app. I use this app all the time in the grocery store when I'm shopping. It has been very useful and helpful while shopping. There were things I thought were gluten-free that actually contain gluten and that has helped me adjust my diet accordingly.

Outstanding app for celiacs. The gluten free scanner is the best. Diagnosed with celiac disease several years ago, I have a lot of health problems pertaining to my immune system. The Gluten Free Scanner app makes it so easy and reliable to identify if a product is gluten free or not. Is the only one that have in consideration the issue of cross-contamination with gluten, due to the process of manufacturing, as you know, the usual statement "made in a facility or equipment that also process wheat" and similar statements. That's an essential question for celiacs like me. Very hard question to be careful if you are gluten intolerant!!!! The app has saved me from getting sick many times, sometimes it's hard to catch all the Ingredients when reading a label. On another hand, prevented me from accidentally eating "hidden gluten" ingredients on more than one occasion. For example, after scanning my supposedly cool new gluten free ice tea mix according to the website of the manufacturer, found out I've been drinking gluten and making myself sick................ After just a few days of cutting that ice tea out of my diet I feel better already. The most useful feature is the search gluten free products (just a recommendation, if you put only one or two words in the search, perhaps you will get better results). Usually I put the name of the brand or keywords like "kombucha", "mustard sauce", "quinoa", "granola bars", "chocolate" .......... if you have a doubt, you can use the leave feedback button, usually they are very responsive. Also you can contribute to improve the database of products, if you find a new item labeled as gluten free, not found in the database. Finally, the restaurant card / translated travel cards and the search ingredients can be very useful sometimes. Anyway, if you can, recommended to call before the restaurant and talk with the staff about your celiac disease condition and to check carefully the gluten free safe options available in the menu, be aware to avoid the cross-contamination issues in the kitchen. If you can't make a call, You can show the restaurant card available in the app to the waiter. I thank you so much, to the very bottom of my heart, for making this app!! Keep up the good work!

Saved my life!!!!!. I have celiac disease and this app has saved me and my husband a lot of trouble!!! When I send my husband to market he uses this app for my safety!!!!!

It’s okay. It’s nice to look up stuff to see if it’s gluten free or not but I’m mad I paid for an app for it to constantly glitch/freeze
