Great for letters - Very poor customer service. As everyone says, great for getting letters to your loved ones, and they do have updates that they send; HOWEVER, if you miss the flash message and want to find out what your recruit is doing - good luck! I contacted them for help, and they didn’t seem read my question(s). All they did was resend an email from the previous week – NOT what I asked for! When I wrote back saying that they didn’t actually answer my question, and would they please do so, they blew it off completely! They were pretty easy questions... the first email was, “How can I find the information that they sent me on a flash about what he’s doing this coming week? I can’t find it anywhere on your app.” That’s when they sent the week-old email. In my reply, I added another question “When they go to Pendleton for training will they get letters?” Again, no answer. So much for caring about anything that doesn’t provide an income to Sandboxx!

Amazing. I love Sandboxx. My marine recruit child is in San Diego at boot camp. It was a surprise to me and I cried and cried. He couldn’t tell me anything because he is 18 and didn’t ask! The marine recruiter told me to use Sandboxx so I signed up for deluxe package. Your mail usually gets there the next day. I just purchased my 15yr old the deluxe package. The most important reason I love Sandbox is mentally and emotionally. The first 2 letters to me were devastating. I emailed Sandboxx what had happened. They immediately sent me an email that this was not uncommon and she shared her story. If I need anything at all I email them. I wasn’t sure what I could send, they told me. I freaked out because I thought I put my child’s name on the envelope and I didn’t want to get him in trouble. Sandboxx told me correct way! Also, Sandboxx has a weekly news section and it is like a count down. My child had 9 weeks to go and it tells what your recruit is working on that week! I love Sandboxx and they are honestly my lifeline to my child and I know I can ask anything and they will be there for me. If anything else sign up for the app just for all the support they give you! Dawn

Proud Father. This is our second time around. The first time it was my son in 2019. This time it is my daughter in 2022. Both of them in the Air Force. It is so easy. I’m able to dictate to my phone what I want to say. I can even add a picture. If write M-Th they can get it the next day. I had one tiny problem and they fixed it almost immediately. Customer service is that good! The best part is I can write anywhere I am. When the mood strikes I just get on my phone. They are very reliable. I can track it from conception to the final delivery. You always know where you are in the process. That is very Comforting. My last daughter is probably going into the Service too in about four years. I will definitely use them again. It is an Awesome service. Knowing that they are getting your letter will help you keep your sanity and fill that void in your heart. So If you are missing your loved ones, There is no better way to keep in touch.

Thankful Mom. I’ll admit I was skeptical of paying for a service to send letters to my son when I could send him a handwritten letter from home. However, our family has come to life Sandboxx and what it provides for us. We still send those handwritten letters from home as we love doing that as all the letters he sends us are handwritten and I think he enjoys those. Sandboxx has given us the option to write a letter at lunch or on our breaks at work. The option to add one picture (my tip is to make a picture collage and add multiple pics to our letters that way) and have him receive the letter quicker than He could regular mail. If I send before 4 pm eastern time, the letter ships that evening and it’s received on post the next day. He usually doesn’t receive until the following day, but still a faster way to communicate to him. We also love that he gets paper and an envelope to mail back. I can also add return postage and he doesn’t even have to worry about the stamp! What’s even better for this mom, is when he replies I get a notification that I’m getting mail back from him. Sandboxx customer service has been quick and super friendly and helpful! Don’t hesitate to give it a try, it’s a wonderful way to provide support to your family and/or friends!

Easy to write letters but…. This app is very buggy! You may or may not be able to access all features, depending on the day. No answers when trying to make contact. While it is easy to just type out a letter and watch it go, it doesn’t always go as fast as you expect. The price per letter was fine until they stopped giving recruits return postage, which was the biggest attraction to begin with. The biggest pain is that every time they make a change or “fix”, you’re logged out of the app and you will have to change passwords each time, at least that’s been my experience. Logs out and forgets your password?! Mine is always written down so other family can use it too, so It’s def not my end. Finishing with the letters I bought already and will be finished with the app as well. If nothing return postage for recruits it’s really not worth it🤷🏻‍♀️

Worse app ever. Sandboxx is awful. I wish there was a numerical rating and I would give it a zero. In theory, the morale booster credits SHOULD be an awesome feature. You would be able to buy a package of credits and then share them with your family and friends. However, the first issue is that you have no control over who uses your credits. Since the app asks you to invite people to the morale booster, that would suggest that the credits that you put in there would ONLY be available to those that you share the link with. Well that is incorrect. Your credits can be used by ANYONE, absolutely ANYONE who logs in and pulls up a letter to send to your recruit. That is irregardless of whether you know the person or not. Secondly, I've had issues with Sandboxx releasing the entire list of individuals who had EVER sent a letter to my recruit. While they did adjust this policy AFTER I reached out about that, they refuse to inform you of who used your morale booster credits. If you don't want individuals to ask who used their credits, then you need to offer the ability for the individual to assign their credits to specific people. If you want to use Sandboxx, stay away from the morale booster. It's more headache than it is worth.

Excellent connection to my recruit. When my son joined we thought we knew more than most about what to expect but I cannot thank Sandboxx, and the men and women who keep it running , enough for providing a crucial connection to my son. He was truly on his own for the first couple weeks but I know it meant the world to him to have his letters arriving with regularity once he began to receive them. The pictures were key. When these young men and women leave a life including social media, the pictures can be a great comfort. I know my son was happy to see the pictures of us being silly. These letters fill their evenings before bedtime and on Sundays when they get a little down time. It took me about a week to figure out the aspects of buying tokens, mailing letters, attaching pictures, sending gift cards and watching the Sandboxx timeline, but I think it was well worth the patience, because my son said it made a difference! (Not sure if their time lines changed, but i had to be sure to write my letter by Thursday early afternoon for Monday/Tuesday delivery.) It was also great that I could add the pre-addressed envelope with return postage and all he had to do was write his letter on the provided paper — so he didn’t have to worry about the rest. Welcomed convenience to extremely tired recruits!

The absolute best!. Honestly having a loved one go to basic is difficult.. clearly you can relate if you are looking at these reviews :) You are cut off from them for 13 weeks and everything is unknown. Sandboxx made communication so much easier! I knew my recruit was getting the mail and the uplifting messages I was sending. On top of that, I was able to include a full size picture in every letter. They made her a little less homesick and appreciate daily mail call that much more. Even better.. you can include reply postage and you get a notification when your recruit writes back (tracking included)! The customer service is truly the best as well! I had so many questions! They never were annoyed, answered all my questions promptly, and were extremely helpful. It seemed a little pricy at first, but with the level of service that comes with these letters.. I would invest again and again. They offer packages as well that decrease the prices.. go big! I wrote so often and my recruit was happy to hear from me every time! They even send you updates and let you know what your recruit is doing each week. Invest in Sandboxx.. you won’t regret the decision.

Fantastic App. We used this app while our son was in navy boot camp (RTC Great Lakes). It was so easy to use, you can sit down and tap out a letter, then attach a photo right from your phone. We sent a bunch of letters, my wife and I would take turns sending them. Here is the most important thing, the letters get there quickly and your recruit has all the material to send a letter back. It’s all included. This app keeps you up to date on where your letter is during the process, it even tells you when it was delivered and if you have a letter coming your way. So it is more expensive than a letter but it was worth every penny. Every letter is like Christmas for your recruit so the more you send the better. We have a few left over and will use those to send letters to him at A school.

Delays. I absolutely love the app, it is a very good way to get letters to recruits or loved ones. The letters are a little pricey but you get what you pay for. The only complaint I have is that my recruit wrote a letter to me stating she’s only received 1 letter out of the 5 I have sent her so far, and one letter I wrote 6 days ago is still in transit while another I had written after that has been marked as delivered. She wrote me on the 20th saying she’s only received 1 letter while by that time I had already written her 2 and both had been delivered. However I do understand that it could be difficult as I live in Nevada while she is in MCRD Parris Island, but my confusion also lies with the fact that they are being printed and packaged in a much closer location, I would really hope that my letters do get to her because I want to encourage her to keep going in bootcamp and I know the impact a single letter can have in a recruits mindset

Make sure address is correct. So over the past few weeks, I was sending my nephew letters and gift cards to the address given of course by my wonderful nephew, well I had the wrong address on file so they quickly fixed the address issue thanks so much to Gretchen..she’s amazing, yes like most of you I was frustrated and upset, but that’s not their faults at all , please make sure you have the right address information and They will fix it and send all the letters and gift cards to the correct address..... so I’ve gave them a 1 star before and , today my attitude changed and I will consider Gretchen worked very hard to get the information corrected and quickly resolved.... thank you so much Sandboxx Jerry... Everything was fixed and updated.. due to the wrong Address Sandboxx did amazing Gretchen was on top of it and corrected the address my nephew should be receiving my letters now.... just a simple address update.. 5 star service

How Much I Love Sandboxx. I can truly say this app has been the most amazing part of my journey through Air Force Bootcamp with my son this being my first experience as a military mom it has kept me up to date and well informed on my sons day to day training during boot camp it has also educated me and my husband on things like how to salute different terminology that he is learning it has kept me in close contact with my son via letter writing and it just has given me a comfort I can’t explain I feel with this app I am just a letter away from speaking to him in the turn around time of one day delivery which is great and I truly appreciate that since the first four weeks of no contact was tremendously hard for me so with that being said Sandboxx receive a 5 star rating from me and my husband Thank You Sandboxx Alisa Edwards

Great App but.... This app is great but here is the one big thing that really frustrated me. The provided news and info, which is great, was always 1 or 2 weeks behind my son’s activities while in BMT at JBSA LACKLAND. There was no setting the I could change to get it in line with my son’s calendar which made it frustrating and less useful. It’s great for writing really quick letters when you’re too busy to sit down and write an “old-fashion” Hans written letter. I just wish that the developer will give you the opportunity to sync your child’s bmt arrival date with the app. For instance, my son graduated this past week and today I just got the info about my son and what he can expect during “Beast Week”. Excellent information but a day late and dollar short. If the developers ever fix this app where you can manually sync with your child’s calendar, this would make it an excellent app.

Made Basic a whole lot easier!. I love this app and I am so glad his recruiter told us about it. I love sending him the handwritten letters but sometimes it is just more convenient to type on my phone. I also love how easy it is to attach a photo to the letter. You just choose your picture, add some stickers or text or other things, and boom picture is attached. When he called me he was up to date with things when if I had only written him letters he would be a bit behind. I was actually surprised when he brought up something from only 2 days before! The $4 a letter is a bit much but for me it was completely worth it to have my letter be sent to him overnight especially around the time of making accommodations to go to his graduation. My recruit keeps saying how the letters are helping him and lot and for me, the $4 is worth it! I highly recommend this for anybody with a loved one going into basic!

Sandboxx letters. This is a wonderful service in keeping up with technology and the New Army. I would recommend that you give new customers that purchase your service access to a sample copy of the newsletters you offer. The daily motivation, the scripture verses and the off duty. Since I have no clue what is actually in these, I do not intend to spend more money for something my son may not even care to have. I know during my Boot Camp days, many centuries ago, I never had the time or energy to read anything other than my training manuals. I gave you three stars because of the weekly updates. While it is fantastic to get an idea of what specific training cycle my son is experiencing, and your tips on questions to ask is very helpful. I think you could add an additional paragraph that specifically relates to the recruit and the unit he is in. Like who his Drill Sergeants are and their bio’s, the kind of meals he is getting at the chow hall, to include field rations and MRE’s. Something more specific about the platoon he is in. Which recruits were made squad leaders and guide and meritorious promotions. How many hours they spent in Drill, or on the range. Just my opinion. I know that info would require your staff have a closer connection and communication with the Platoon. Of course we wouldn’t want unneeded distraction from training. Otherwise, your service is fantastic and I wish you all the success. Wm David Linley (SSGT, USMC, 17-yrs, SDVOSB)

Life Saver!!. My snail mail letters to my son in basic were getting jammed up in the USPS system and none of them had gotten to him by week two. I was beginning to freak out; I did not want my sailor recruit thinking his mama had forgotten him!! Then when I was online one day I saw an ad for Sandboxx and downloaded the app. The Sandboxx team had a letter delivered to my son within two days!! Forever grateful to have found such a valuable resource for keeping contact with my sailor recruit! The app is amazingly straightforward and easy to use, and best of all they even let you send a photo and daily motivation messages to your sailor/soldier/airman/marine/guardsman (they deliver to all branches!!) Sandboxx is also super affordable; I think $4 per letter, but they have bundles that bring the price down when you buy in bulk, which is helpful for lower income families who have to buy in bulk while they have the money before it’s gone. I’m pretty sure the developers of Sandboxx thought of everything!

Great service, easy to use. I have used this app to send 8 letters. It’s very easy to use. I had one problem where i sent multiple letters, since it only limits you to 6000 characters per letter, at once and my friend only received one out of the five i had sent. I messaged the customer service team and after a day i was informed that they had resent ALL of my letters free of charge! I was very thankful for that! I highly recommend using this app to send letters to your loved ones or friends who are in active duty or training right now. It’s easy to use and very simple, and it pays for both ways! Allows you to send photos and other stuff too if that’s your thing. On thing to note is that it takes about a week to send and receive a conversation. Your letter sends out on Monday i believe, and if your loved ones or friend writes back asap you’ll get their letter by friday or saturday. If you send your letter on friday/saturday/or sunday, it takes until monday to print and send out! Another thing to note is that it’s about $4 to send a mail, but you can get bundles that are cheaper, like 3 for $10 which is what i usually get because that’ll last a month (unless you use multiple letters per mail!). Other than that, it’s very easy to use, and has excellent tracking to see where your letter is at, or where your loved ones / friends letter is at! love it

So efficient!. I received notice yesterday (Sunday) that I can send my recruit letters through sandboxx. I thought I’d have to wait another week to receive a letter from him first to get his address, but the system already had his mailing address! I sent a letter that night (around 5pm) to him, and i don’t know if this was a fluke but it states my letter was printed and delivered today already. It’s noon Monday. I’m amazed at how efficient this system is. I’ll likely still send handwritten letters but I cannot believe how easy it was to send my letter. I’ll be on a roadtrip and it is so nice knowing when I’m on the road I’ll be able to send letters from wherever I am. The best part is that they send a letter with my return address to make it easier for him to reply. Knowing how time consuming boot camp is, that is a feature that really stood out to me. This app is wonderful.

Great App Needs some fixes. I like the app. I wish it would let you send extra pictures even if it cost more. Also when I write in the app I can’t go back and correct a Mis-spelling basically I push back up I hit one button and it will take me back to the bottom of the letter. So a lot of times a use my phone notes area to write the letter then copy and paste it into Sandboxx because of this problem. It’s annoying. I appreciate the updates on what’s going on that week and suggested questions to ask. Sadly even though my girl has wrote numerous letters we haven’t received a single one of them. 6 weeks in now. She tells us on the phone she getting ours but apparently they aren’t sending the letters out from base so we don’t really know anything so the updates on what going on that week and suggested questions have been really helpful. I definitely recommend the app. I got her address from the Facebook group they made for them otherwise without letters coming in I would have had no clue how to add her address to Sandboxx (might have better directions for that).

A total MUST have. This app allows you to be able to get in touch with your recruit ways sooner than regular mail. Once you find out what division your recruiters in you can write through this app and they will receive it like in two days versus you having to write a letter and then snail mail it through the USPS system. Those days in between or very crucial to your recruit because those extra days are days you could already be sending your recruit positivity and encouragement that otherwise they would still be waiting for. The other astronomical plus is your recruit gets a pre-addressed envelope as well as it already being stamped. You can’t make it easier for them. Especially when time is a rare commodity for them. You also can attach a photo or take one with your device. How awesome is that?

About tired of this. I’ve had to delete and re-download this all three times because it keeps logging me out. My girlfriend is currently in MCBT and I had originally gotten this because it’s the fastest way I can get a letter to her. Last night I just bough 5 token and i tried to write and send her a letter but the app would not let me. Kept saying ‘failure: no internet connection’ while i had full bars of wifi. But when i switched over to use my data nothing would even happen. I kept hitting the ‘Send Letter’ button and it would not respond. I try again this morning and i am logged out of the app. I try to sign back in but i can’t due to ‘No Internet Connection’. Last time this happened i had to make a whole new account. That’s 21 dollars just down the drain. Oh and the weekly update is incredibly buggy. The first time around, i got an update for week one and nothing else even though several weeks had passed. When i re-downloaded it, I could see multiple weeks worth of updates, but only the corner of the actual update. I couldn’t read anything on it. This service is such a waste of money. If i am paying this much money to send letters to my baby then at the very least the app could have the decency to not crash every couple of weeks.

a must have for Military SO. This has been such a wonderful way to connect with my boyfriend through his time in service. I highly recommend it for times where you can’t communicate through phone because of the tracking features. You can track letters you send and if they use the return stationery that is included you can see when they send you a letter back. No more checking the mailbox every day aimlessly!! Also you can include pictures very easily without having to print them out yourself if you were to hand write letters. The best part is being able to reread what you wrote them so you know after it is delivered what they are reading that night. No more relying on the very unreliable postal service either because sandboxx uses fedex. Also the company is veteran owned so you know you are supporting a good business!! I will continue to use this for the rest of my boyfriends contract with the Air Force and recommend to everyone I come across!

5+++ stars!!. This app is great!! Sending a note of encouragement or thanks to our service members could not be easier! I love that you can attach photos, send daily Bible verses, and even get a update of what is going on every week until graduation from boot camp! Customer service is also top notch! I had a issue logging in due to a error on my end so I sent a email asking for help. I got a very kind and fast response not only letting me know what the problem was but also easy to follow step by step instructions on how to fix it. If you have a family member or friend in the military this app is a must!! It’s definitely worth paying a little more than you would for a stamp! You can send a note with a photo cheaper than you can have one printed and drive to pick it up! Plus all the additional options and information! Support your troops!

Fast, guaranteed delivery. My son told me about this app while in Navy Basic Training. While I still used traditional mail to write to him, I found Sandboxx a great resource as well. Pros- -Easy to use- text what you want, add a pic from your camera roll and hit sent. Too easy. -Large amount of writing space-not sure of the exact count but I never ran out of space. I would include family updates, sport updates, etc. -Return stationary included so your recruit can write back to you with return address already labeled. You also get a notification when they sent their response back to you. -Sandboxx gives you an idea of what your recruit is experiencing each week with suggestions on what to write/ask -You can earn tokens to send free letters (think refer a friend) -You can add on a gift card or a newsletter -quick delivery. From the moment I clicked send to my son receiving the letter it was maybe 3 days. This was during snow storms. -You can edit the pic you send. Cons -Cost- at just over $4 a letter it can get pricey (but you can bulk buy) -Return postage not included-so your recruit will still need to add a stamp. -You are limited to only sending one pic-I used the collage feature on my phone as a fix to this. Considering how dependent our recruits are on letters for motivation and what’s going on in the outside world I would definitely recommend this app.

Definitely recommend, especially for those who don’t have military friends and family for guidance. The app is so educational and easy to use! I feel more connected to my recruit and that’s thanks to Sandboxx. I love that it breaks down the training, let’s you send a picture and has a delivery tracking feature. LOVE that there’s overnight delivery. I shared it with friends and family right away. The news could be a little more pertinent and the Off Duty update was a bit disappointing, kind of just like magazine information article fluff. You can only send one picture, so I’ve been making a collage and uploading the screenshot. My biggest frustration- when editing your letter from the app, you’re bounced back to the end of the letter after each character. It’s frustrating and makes editing tedious. Overall, love the app though.

TheresaWorsham. I find it appalling that I have to spend over $60 to write someone in Boot Camp and I find it more appalling that you can’t just buy one or two tokens at a time. ( as you write) I find this absolutely egregious and trespassing into my personal time, not to mention my life. Now, to use the $60 I have just spent I feel like I need to write not just once but twice a day, as if my life isn’t busy enough. I’d like to know what you do with the funds when they are not used up as tokens. This was an invasive of my privacy and the lack of choices made me feel as if I was in the CCP. Since I did not have a choice of how much money I wanted to spend then my beef is with the poorly designed website where I was unable to find the choices and had to spend WAY over what I wanted to spend on sending A LETTER to someone in boot camp. In addition, I am sure these letters are monitored and the insult to my privacy grows. As an American citizen I cannot say I am thrilled with this venue of writing recruits and future soldiers of our fighting forces. Way to invasive and does not respect your privacy or personal space AT ALL. Not a fan but will use to get my monies worth. So disappointed.

Useful for Basic Training or if your soldier doesn’t have a phone, other than that useless. I wrote my boyfriend during his BCT at Ft. Sill and this app helped since it sends it next day, which I loved! However, once my boyfriend got to his AIT, which was at the same base, I wasn’t informed that my letters wouldn’t be sent next day until I messaged somebody why I couldn’t find my tracking. I paid $50 for 15 member credits that I can’t even get refunded or use. They should really let customers know prior to buying member credits if it will be sent next day or regular mail. The app isn’t clear exactly what battery’s they send to. They sent mail to my boyfriend’s battery during BCT, but don’t send to the same base, at a different battery up the street? Would have been nice to know before I wasted my money. Now I can’t even get my money back or even donate my credits to another soldiers family to write letters. They really need to work on the development for this app because they probably lose customers after recruits leave BCT.

Thank you!. I looked into Sandboxx before my boyfriend left for BMT. I’m not one to really spend money on things like this, but I decided to give it a try. It is a lot easier for me to use Sandboxx than to write a physical letter because I’m working most of day but I like tracking it and knowing he’ll get it soon. He can also write me back as it comes with paper and you can add reply postage for a small charge. He sometimes will write me some things to relay to his family because Sandboxx can make it easier to reply! And the app will let you know when they respond! Any issues I’ve had I’ve been lucky enough for the Support team to help me fix it right away. It’s a great app and I highly recommend, I think my boyfriend’s mom is actually gonna look into getting the app :)

I love how easy and simple it is. I just got all my boyfriends regular letters in the mail and each of them came in late (they all came in together the same day weeks after he sent them) and he was sad to see no return letters yet because postal service is really slow and he thought i was ignoring his letters so i had to find a faster way to let him know that his support team (me) was still here 100% and that i wasnt ignoring him i found this app and i was able to write and send him a letter it made me feel alot better and i hope that he gets it real soon so he knows im still here and always will be.... This app is a life saver ❤️ it also gives my phone a purpose since he left its been on 100% battery all day long since i cant text or call him regularly and so now my phone actually has a purpose again

Good Service if they could work through the issues. The biggest issue I have is the glitches in the App. I was very shocked how often it crashed didn’t update correctly, click to write letter and saved addresses do not come up. Customer service is helpful and quick to respond, but the unpredictability of the app makes it almost impossible to use. Also next day certainly does NOT mean next day, I have sent multiply letters hours and hours before the dead line and they weren’t printed or processed in the time frame state they would be. Is it a good service 🤷🏻‍♀️ I mean there isn’t anyone else doing one so this is your only choice. I wouldn’t rely on any important information actually getting to your service member through this service though. I am disappointed as I really had higher hopes for this service. Do I recommend it? Unfortunately there isn’t any other service that does it or I wouldn’t. Just be prepared to deal with the glitches and time delays. Time delays were related to Printing and processing not delayed shipping times due to COVID 19.

Was great until….. I loved this app UNTIL they changed how long the tokens were good for. Why on earth would they think it’s ok to take away tokens someone paid for if they aren’t all used in a year from purchasing them? My son joined in 2019 and I bought a lot of tokens but we still had like 20 something left when his friend joined but when he signed in to send him a letter it said they were expired and he wrote them to ask about it. Apparently they had changed the policy, WITHOUT SENDING ANY TYPE OF NOTIFICATION TO ANY USERS, to where any tokens not used were to expire. What about those of us who have friends and family who are joining the military but they’re still in high school and it’ll be a yr or so before they’re even sent to boot camp???? If you don’t plan on buying a lot of tokens then this is probably a good thing for you but if you plan on buying a lot expecting to be able to use them later down the line with friends or family that join years later or a year from when your last family member or friend joined then stay away from this app because they will expire and they will take them away and expect you to pay for more when you still had plenty leftover. Its just ridiculous that they want to have tokens expire that we paid good money for and think it’s OK to take them away.

A Useful Tool to Keep in Touch. Though we write many handwritten letters to our recruit, which we do in part because it feels more personal, this app has been very useful to augment those at times when we may be traveling, would like to speed up delivery, or are otherwise unable to get a letter out that day. It is especially useful as the end of the week nears since a letter written on Thursday before 4:30 with this app gets delivered on Friday. You can’t beat $4 for an overnight letter. Though we have not used many of the app features other than writing letters, another useful feature is the weekly updates section which details what recruits will experience for the upcoming week. In addition to providing some insight about their experience for the week, which also helps with topics for letter writing, this feature adds to what we know since recruits don’t get much time to explain what they are being trained on for that week during phone time. Overall, I recommend this app for those purposes. Well done.

The WORST APP EVER!. So I got in contact with customer service about the app not working. All I got in return was some explanation about how they were sorry and they could update my loved ones info. At this point all I wanted was my money back. Morena customer service rep was nice, and then she was dodging my request for a refund by letting me know that she could change and update my loved ones info. My loved one “Morena” has her cell phone at this point. Not sure why you’d suggest that I’d keep using this crappy expensive app to continue to keep in touch. Snail mail was faster than using this app. Anyway when I finally asked her why she was ignoring my request for a refund she simply said, oh we don’t offer refunds. Folks, if you have loved ones that are joining the Air Force, Army, Navy, sabe your money. It’s so expensive to send a letter to your loved ones. Just send an old fashioned letter. It’ll get there faster and in the most cheapest of way. This app/company will offer no refund which in my eyes is stealing from their customers when the app doesn’t work. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DONT USE THIS APP.

What a perfect conduit. Our grandson recently joined the Marine Corp. of course we were excited for him. Along with our excitement comes a little anxiety, as one would expect. Our grandson’s recruiter told us about Sandboxx. We have been thrilled to be able to utilize each of the different aspects they have to offer. Not only can we write to our recruit...the military regularly sees letters from Sandboxx to the recruits and knows they’re safe and can be delivered more efficiently. The recruits get more letters from home and they come with a self-addressed and stamped envelope so it’s simpler for them to write home. We love that you can attach pictures with the letters...simple and convenient. Along with that comes a pretty cool feature that tells you what your recruit will be doing that week...for the duration of boot camp. How many know that this reduces anxiety. The people that oversee this are user-friendly, efficient, and extremely helpful. You are able to chat with them and the respond right away. There are lots of other benefits that are introduced to you along the way...places to connect with other parents, relatives, etc. from all over the States, sharing their feelings and stories. The Sandboxx people are great at helping to keep us connected with our recruits and others...and isn’t relationship one of the goals?? We highly recommend this App....easy, affordable, helpful. You won’t be disappointed...

The app to get if you know someone joining the military. If you have someone going to boot camp or basic training this is a must download. The app allows you to send letters to boot camp straight from your phone. No post office no envelopes no stationary needed. Although I did still write letters I ended up sending more Sandboxx letters as my at the time marine officer candidate requested me to use sandboxx because he was getting mail faster. Not only do you get to send letters but every week they send you what your recruit is doing that week during training along with letter topics and suggestions in case you don’t know what to write about. Whenever I had an issue with the app the customer support team was extremely helpful and responsive. All my issues were taken care of and I could focus on supporting my loved one with letters. This is a great app to keep our loved ones motivated during the hardest time of their life. I would recommend again and again.

Love the app except for this. The one flaw that drives me crazy is that if I am typing and I realize I need to modify something that I have previously typed, I can type one letter or delete one letter at a time and then the cursor goes to the end of the letter. So, say I want to delete the word “modify” above, I could put the cursor up there next to the y and click backspace and it would delete the y, but then the cursor would jump to here X. You can select large chunks of text and delete what you have selected, however if you want to add anything, you can only do so one letter at a time and you have to reposition the cursor from the end of the text each time. Overall, I truly appreciate being able to communicate quickly with my daughter and I love this app. I point that flaw out only to make a great app even better. Thank you for all you do for our service members and family/friends!

Free letter is a trick. All though they want you to share your link with friends and family members to earn free letters it 9s nothing more than a trick. When I did not receive my free letter and chatted with the support team they tell you of all kinds of “rules” they use not to give the promised letters. The “rules” are nowhere you can see them before you send your first letter. You follow the link you were sent write your letter and of course pay to send your first letter and then you don’t get your free letter. So 0f course you think it must be a mistake and contact the support team. They then send you a link to the “rules” we use to trick people out 0f their free letter page. They of course refuse to give you the free letter and just say oh maybe we will tell our tech team to add the rules to the app or something so others are not cheated out of their free letters or maybe we won’t so we can continue to take advantage of military families. I would absolutely not recommend anyone do business with a company that knowingly and willing takes advantage of its customers. Absolutely disgusting way to do business!

Waste of money. UPDATE: It’s now almost a month since the “ice storm” and letters have been mostly on schedule. But I sent a letter Friday 3/5 prior to the cutoff time so that it would reach my son in time for his birthday 3/9/21 TODAY. It should have been delivered yesterday, Monday, but as of 11am Tuesday, it is still in transit. Thanks, Sandboxx 😡😡😡😡 [ORIGINAL REVIEW:] My son’s recruiter is a great salesman. It was at his suggestion that I got this app to write to my son at boot camp. We were under the impression that this app made it so someone at the actual boot camp location received the letters and printed them there, alleviating the wait for mail time. It wasn’t until I had signed up and bought the $30+ token package that they clarified that letters are printed in Washington and shipped via fedex. Well that really is only going to save us 1 day of wait time because a regular mail letter would only take 2 days to get to him, and that only costs 50¢. To make things worse, due to the “weather,” the letter that I paid over $3 to mail 5 days ago is still in transit. I mailed another one yesterday (might as well, since I am stuck with this for 8 more tokens), and it is in the same place on the tracking as the letter I sent 5 days ago. Their customer service responds quickly via email when you send them a question, but that’s not what I paid $30+ for. Won’t be using this after the tokens are used up. This seems to be a racket for new military families.

Slower than snail mail. They hate military families.. When you advertise that your loved one in training will receive your letter the next day and then routinely take 4-5 business days to deliver it you have successfully conned military families and stolen their money. Is this your way of saying “thanks for your service”. I think Sandboxx hates military families. The USPS has been delivering our letters to our son at boot camp in 2-3 business days. Don’t waste your money on this app or service. I’ll use up my tokens because I spent the money on them upfront however if we want mail to get to our son in a timely manner we have had to start using USPS. Thanks Sandboxx 😡😡😡 you are successfully worse than the USPS. That’s quite an accomplishment. Over the last four weeks (May-June 2021) the letters have taken 4-5 business days to be delivered to the Army post at Fort Leonard Wood. It can take another day for them to sort and deliver to his platoon. All told, it has been averaging 5 business days for our son to received the letters. yet they promote the service takes only one business day. We also purchased stamps and surprise! They never got delivered. Thanks again Sandboxx.

Not happy!. I am not happy with the experience I’ve had with this. First of all I bought some credits and wrote my first letter to send and I pressed the send button and sent me a message back saying message failed to send or something along those lines so I tried again and it sent. Great! Well it sent it twice! And it used two credits! It told me it didn’t send the first time or I wouldn’t have tried again. So I wasted a credit sending a letter a second time. Then it logged me out recently and I went to log back in and it says my email and password is wrong so I try to reset my password with my email, and it says email doesn’t exist! So I try to sign up with my email thinking it might let me in that way and it tells me my account with that email already exists But why won’t it let me in or reset my password? So I can’t get into my account and I’m not buying more credits with a new account because I already have them in my actual account that it won’t let me in to! Customer service has been of no help. And I’m upset because this has been nothing but a hassle and I wasted money just trying to send my husband letters! Better off just handwriting and using stamps! Not happy!!!!!!

New user, new recruit, so far useless app. Can’t find my son by name when I click on “start letter.” My son left for boot camp two days ago, so perhaps he isn’t in the system yet to write to. Fine. I will try again every day until I decide they aren’t going to put him in I guess. But my exploration of the app has been far from satisfying. There’s nothing that tells me how much letters cost, there’s no guidance as to how to use the app, and the “help” is only a messaging feature, there is no actual page of FAQs or a user’s guide. I don’t think I will trust it to make travel reservations either, because the test run I made on the travel tab was full of bugs. Tap departure date, get a calendar, choose date I want, then no way to return to the previous screen; it just stays on the calendar. How do I then go back to input the return date? But once when I tried I somehow managed to get both dates in, but I have no idea how, and I can’t do it again. Also, when I did get the dates in and searched for deals, it didn’t tell me what airline I was seeing deals for. Just seems like a junk app. Needs much more work. Most important: USER INSTRUCTIONS!!!

Great app. I love this app. I use the app everyday, I probably write to my recruit 2-3 times a day. My favorite feature of the app is definitely being able to watch my letter in transit. I like to know where it is and when it gets to my recruit! I still hand write a majority of my letters as well because I still believe that it is sentimental and meaningful. But if I’m at work and just want to send a quick letter I do it right on my phone. I do think that it is pricey, but I’ll only be using the app for the next 2 months so I bought enough credits to last me. I don’t mind it solely because I write so much so I know I will use them. Writing more than once a day is just my outlet and makes me feel a little more connected to my boyfriend. Other than the packages, I really do love this app and I recommend it to all of my family/friends and my in-laws family as well. It’s just convenient for all of us! Great app! Thank you!

Great except it crashed every single time. I love the concept of this app. It’s way more expensive than a regular letter sent via snail mail but the overnight delivery made the price worth it for me. My service member said they felt like they were experiencing things with us real time cause the information was only a day behind (rather than a week like with snail mail). With that said, almost every single time I used it (which was almost every day my service member was at basic training), the app crashed when uploading my picture. Customer service said I needed to update the app but even after ensuring my app was up to date, I continued to have the same issue. It wasn’t too much of an inconvenience because my letter was still saved, so after the app crashed I’d just open it again and be right where I left off. It was just annoying to have to do it basically every time I sent a letter. There were only maybe two times (out of roughly 30) that it didn’t crash.

Letters significantly delayed. I like the concept of Sandboxx and I think in time they may get their issues figured out. My personal experience is that my nephew just completed Marine Corps OCS at Quantico and when I saw him at graduation he told me he still hadn't received the letter I sent two weeks in advance. My sister (his mother) also had delays with the Bible verse (paid) service and was told by Sandboxx the delay was on the Marine Corps side. Considering it's the Corps and not delivering mail is a federal offense (even for the military,) I highly doubt the base simply wasn't delivering it to its Marines. I suspect it's just easier for Sandboxx to point the finger so they keep making money and eventually they'll get around to it if there's a competing service that performs better. The bottom line is this: Sandboxx only serves one purpose and they are failing at it. If they can't get correspondence to members of the military in a timely matter, we are better off using a much less costly postage stamp and sending it that way. It will probably arrive in the same amount of time.

EMOTIONALLY SAVED BY SANDBOXX!!. There is no closer human relationship in the world then a mother and son. I can say that with PRIDE!!!! :) I have a healthy and a dearest-close relationship with my son, so when he explained his strong desire for the Army while he worked daily rigorously 4 to 5 days, for 2 straight-years span, building up his body, running miles, involved exercises. Walked around the neighborhood for miles with a backpack of weights. I stayed in shear “PANIC” mode!!! Although, I became more knowledgeable on his goals the separation from my son did not shield feelings of despair. :( I come from a long history of military men. My deceased father (My sons grandfather), was in the The Korean Conflict War. My son’s father was in Desert Storm. My sister retired from the Army served twice over Afghanistan. Uncle’s and cousin’s served in the Army. NOTHING in my head could ever prepare me for my son leaving nor his time gone . 😥 The Sandboxx App. actually have me looking forward to learning what each week looks like for my son while his in camp. I feel closer to him without talking to him for weeks!!! In credible this App. is in my life. I can write to him whenever I so desire!! I can not keep giving expressions of how humble-and grateful I am to have the Sandboxx App!!! I have no daily direct support, therefore I know I can say as a single parent I have been EMOTIONALLY SAVED BY Sandboxx!!! 🙏🏾 Sincerely, Camp Mom!! 😄

Good but a bit pricy. I really like this app a lot! It’s very convenient when you don’t have the time to write a letter by hand and go through the process of having to put it in an envelope, writing the address, finding stamps then looking for a mailbox. It’s kinda like texting a message from the phone which is what everyone does nowadays. It also sends photos from your phone so you won’t need to print any to send them but only one per letter. It lets you know updates and changes the person you’re writing too is going to be going through at basic training. I think my only issues is how many notifications it sends of when you send a letter, it keeps giving me three notifications at the same time saying the same thing, “you’re letter has been delivered”. The other thing is that letters are $4 each but they do cut the price a little when you by big bundles but you also get taxed. For me, I think it’s pretty expensive but I would send daily letters to my husband while he was at basic and he got the letters very quickly. Usually when I got a call, he was pretty much up to date unless I said something that happened yesterday or couple days ago. The letters I sent from Sandboxx got received a few days after I sent it while hand written ones I got from my husband took a week. All in all, Sandboxx is pretty good, letters are easier to write, less time consuming and they send the letters quickly. Only problem is the price of letters really.

Editing AND Adding photos could not be MORE frustrating!!!. Love that I can send letters. Love that my son receives them quickly. Don’t love that I can’t edit the letter easily. It’s quite ridiculous actually. This app needs ALOT of work on the photo side. First getting out of the area where you attach photos is a nightmare and trying to select the photo and just go back to the letter is insanely difficult. And I should be able to send more than one, just saying, you charge a lot for this app for how limited it is. Needs a ton of work on the adding of text within the body of the letter as well as on the photo side. Extremely disappointed in this and I know it won’t be addressed because it’s the only way to communicate with the service members quickly so whatever. I will definitely NOT recommend to anyone though unless these areas are changed and my boy will probably be done before that ever happens. Just keeping it real. Whatever.

Very useful. I havent written a review for an app in years but this app is so easy to use and very convenient i had to. My bf is in bootcamp and I had gone to Mexico for a little and wasnt able to write him handwritten letters so I sent him letters through here and they get to him so fast about 1-2 days and even print pictures. I didnt have a printer so that was a plus. It can be a little pricey but its worth it. Also the apps UI is very user friendly and pleasing to look at. They have been updating the apps look recently and adding helpful features, its a really great job that they have done. 6000 characters as the limit is pretty good too. Theres many other things that you can add to give them. So now you can see why its a pricey service because they provide a lot of resources. Receiving the weekly updates is my favorite part because it shows you what they will be doing and i can understand what my bf is going through. Also they provide you with other information as well regarding stamps, addresses and things to write about on their website. I can tell that its a really great team of employees who like their job and get it done right. The only issue ive had was not seeing that they had replied to my letter in the app even though they came in the mail using sandboxx’s letter that i had sent. Nonetheless great job!

Love. I love Sandboxx! I send a mix of handwritten and Sandboxx letters. They both have their advantages, but I love that you can include a picture and how fast they arrive to the soldiers with sandboxx. I also love how it provides them with a piece of paper and envelope every time they receive a letter. The only downside is there have been a few times where the letter doesn’t get there for 3 days when it’s suppose to be next day delivery! I ask the customer service chat people why and they always explain. Seems to be mail room issues each time so it’s not really in their control. Another plus is the customer service specialist answer almost right away! Always super helpful and fixes any issues I have! Definitely worth the extra money for the letters!

Parris Island Recruit NEVER received letters. I have sent 5 letters through Sandboxx. My recruit has not received ANY OF THEM. He is currently in bootcamp at Parris Island. He has wrote several times to us very upset and depressed that we haven’t written him. I have written him, and can provide proof that I have once he returns home. It doesn't change the current situation that we have paid for a service and it has failed terribly. I have written 5 letter and paid for reply postage to 3 of them. No response has been received with the reply postage we have paid for. I really wanted to use a service for military families like this as I have several family members in the military, but with this kind of service, how can I? I This is unacceptable. I am not calling for a refund as I dont “NEED” my money back, but someone needs to fix this issue. I shouldn’t have ever lost money trying to support my son through a service that boasts such excellent service and results. I truly hope anyone else looking to use this service does their research first. Sandboxx, you need to do better.

LOVE IT. I sent my first letter today, and can't wait to hear back from my soldier! I referred all of my friends; easy to use, and hopefully he will receive it quickly!

No option for Canada?. My only problem with Sandboxx is that I can't put in my real Canadian address.

Love it!. So happy with this app! My son when to USMC bootcamp and it was so easy to use to get letters and photos to him while he was waiting for my snail-mail to arrive. Prices aren’t bad and they’re FedExed to the base next day. Used it in between letters and gave some ‘moral’ credits to his name for his friends and other family members to write who live around the globe (they just had to use my USA address). I was also able to get gift cards to him to use at the MCX- they don’t expire and can be used at any base MCX 😃. Absolutely recommend to military families. Fantastic 👍🏻👍🏻

Love this App!!. Huge shoutout to the team at Sandboxx! This app is a serious Godsend for boot camp communication. Nothing beats a hand written letter, but for sending daily motivation and inspiration and having the peace of mind that my letter would arrive quickly (sometimes in a day or two), this app is perfect! My Marine also loved getting the weekly newsletters! The letter paper and return envelope made it so easy for him to write back in the limited time he had. Finally, we live in Canada and the team at Sandboxx personally helped set up our account for international mail. We will continue to use Sandboxx for as long as my son is enlisted. Thank you so so so much!!!

Love this app.. Love this app. We’ve never had anyone in our little family in the military since the Korean War. I don’t understand any of this army stuff. This just makes it so easy to keep in touch with our little soldier. I actually first heard about it I think on the radio on “Our American Stories”. I’m not 100% sure it could have been something else. I don’t know if I would have had the fortitude to sit and compose a letter every week. When I have a minute or a thought I can just grab my phone and pick up where I left off without having to look for a paper or pencil. Don’t have to use up all my forever stamps either. So convenient. Thanxx Sandboxx!!

Fantastic App. I’m a Poolee in the USMC, meaning I have enlisted in the Marine Corps but I have not shipped off to boot camp. That being said, many people I have become close with in my time as a Poolee have shipped to boot camp before me, some of my best friends have gone down to boot camp while I’m still here. This app has allowed me with such great ease to keep in touch with many of my closest friends. Many of the letters I’ve sent have gotten to my friends in under 24 hours. Its so great to not have to wait three, four, five days for it to even arrive there through the mail, let alone wait the same amount of time to recieve a reply. While Sandboxx can’t help recruits letters get back faster, it certainly helps them get down there, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Don’t use app! It’s a scam. I have sent a total of 7 letters through them. The first 3 I sent using the information I found in a Facebook group regarding address. Easy as pie. My SIT FAC wasn’t properly uploaded into Sandboxx due to the people at Sandboxx. (Found that out the hard way). When they finally uploaded the information, they spelled her name wrong so I had to tell them about that. Then I told them what last name to use and they said they had to use what was on the FAC. So fine well and good and here I am thinking everything was fixed so I continued to write 4 more letters and today I was writing a handwritten letter but didn’t have her address here with me at work so I looked on Sandboxx and low and behold they DO NOT have her platoon number listed? So what was the point of them entering her information from her FAC if they weren’t going to do it correctly??? UGH. They said they could add the platoon if I wanted them to but my question is I can have you add the platoon but not the last name? Makes absolutely no sense to me. What a waste of money.....

Waste of money Normal mail is quicker.. i tried to give this app the benefit of the doubt but the fact that my mail has been in norfolk for the whole week, which is only 30 mins from me and it somehow isn’t at any usps stores or distributors and can’t be tracked because each mail isn’t individually scanned is stupid. i have a letter on the way since the 29th and my “snail mail” got here before the sandbox did. my sandbox letter still says our for delivery but hasn’t moved that spot at all. no one on the staff team can help me or tell me how to get my mail. i know there’s a shortage in mailman right now but for my other letters to arrive before sandbox when the sandbox letters were sent out first is terrible. 20/25$ for 5 letters and they don’t even arrive at a decent time is just terrible. you’ll get it to your recruit quick but you’ll be talking to a wall because you won’t get any letters back.

Wish this existed 20 years ago!. My family and I used this app to write letters to my nephew. I loved that we got updated when our letter was on its way and when he received it. It gave me piece of mind knowing I didn’t have to rely on U.S. mail. I bought a 10 letter package and it was more than worth the few dollars per letter! I wish they had this 17 years ago when I wrote to my fiancé when he was in boot camp and through the many deployments. My app froze when I was purchasing a few more letters and I was overcharged. It was addressed right away when I sent support a message on the app. They refunded me right away. Great customer service.

Sandboxx Made Communicating Easy. Sandboxx made sending my hubby letters easy especially because it was as simple as sending a text and then the fact I was able to include a picture each time made it great too. Being the only parent at home now with two small children (one being a newborn) having the time to sit down with pen and paper, address and seal the envelope properly, and then either mail it myself or go to the PO is definitely not common. I also liked the notification, updates, and extra features like travel accommodations and newsletters/articles. I always knew what was going on and what to talk about. With only 7 days remaining before his graduation, this app really helped get me through.

Quick delivery. I wrote a letter to my son In Bootcamp and it took a week to get there. Then I discovered this app. The letter only took about 2 days. I think it got there before the hand written letter I wrote the week before via snail mail. For a worrisome mom this is totally worth the price of less than $4 to send a letter. Plus I sent the link to his girlfriend and I was surprised it notified me a few days later that she sent him a letter. Things didn’t work out for him in the Navy so he just came home so I will be deleting the app but it sure was handy to have rather than sitting by the phone for 2 weeks waiting for that short phone call from him. Parents...Use the App. It’s worth it!

Don’t waist your time. I was so excited because I wanted to sent a letter to my best friend, did all the steps and I receive an email saying my card was on hold, I updated the address because my friend moved to another camp, and the next day I received another email saying my card still on hold, I tried to contact customer support, they told me I crear two accounts, one with my Apple ID and another one w my email, so they told me they will delete my IF account and keep my email and wait 24 hrs. I waited more than 24 hrs and still another EMAIL WITH MY EMAIL ADDRESS, what I don’t understand is how can I receive emails and then when I tried to open the app keeps telling me that my email is incorrect and I don’t have an account with you guys??? Really I get emails with my card on hold (already been paid) but I can get access to the app because I don’t have an account?? . Keep my money and my card I won’t used this app never again.

I was skeptical….. I was annoyed when my wife began using the app and thought it was a “waste of money” because we could pen letters to our son. I started out that way but knowing what it’s like to not have letters very often during mail call and the reality of how slowly snail mail works, I was more than happy to support a veteran owned business and make sure our son had encouragement from home often. When I thought about the cost of a fast food “value meal” vs communication with my son, this was a really easy choice! Their customer service was quick and very friendly with the few questions we’ve had. I would rate higher than 5 stars if that were an option! Sandboxx, thank you for providing this service!!!!

Thank you sandboxx. Thank you sandboxx for allowing me to be able to send a letter to my recruit literally the next day. I also love how every week you get updates about what your recruit will be doing that week. Used it everyday but my recruit is finally a marine so won’t be using it anymore. My letters would be delivered the next day which made it easy for him to be updated as soon as possible. There are package deals for credits to be able to send letters. There is a social media like feature that allows you to see articles about different branches in the military and the one time I had a problem, I was able to get in touch with a real person right away. Loved it

Mohammed khan. Dear son‘s What are you doing do you fine I miss you my son I know you’re working hard that’s why you did not write the letter do you receive the holy Quran religion book im send if you receive my son let me know I am waiting yourLater if possible just one time call me talk to me please tell that one time just call I miss youI miss you I am fine but I miss you just tell them one time talk to me I don’t receive this week you’re later I am little bit worry for you you know mom how to worry about you and I pray for Allah your life is success full your health is good you always happy to life When you have time write later send to mom mom wait thank you your mom Razia

Great app to send letters to my son. I love this app! I use it to send letters to my son in marine boot camp. It is very reassuring being able to track my letter and see when it gets to its destination. The best is when I get a notification that my son has written me back! I have sent handwritten letters by regular mail but I won’t know if he received all of them until after boot camp. With sandbox, I know all of my letters have been received and my son doesn’t have to spend any money to write me back. His reply letter is included in what I pay. You can add a photo to each letter you send too. It can be a selfie or just a picture you already have in your camera roll. It’s so convenient!!!

love it!. Its a great concept. My boyfriend is currently at basic for the Army and I love how I can track all letters to and from him! I love that I can add stuff to my letters and send gift cards etc. Im glad to have been able to use it beforehand so that when I leave to MCRD, everyone else will also know how to use it for me 😀 Customer Service reps can be quite slow with replies but im sure its very busy especially now with holidays going on so its never too bad and theyre very helpful when they do reply back. Overall I love it and its definitely worth the cost. I cant wait to be on the other end receiving in just a few months to see what thats like!

Best connection <3. Though it is a little pricy but it is worth what you’re paying for. It’s first class delivery which means you will have more conversations with your friends/family and that’ll support them a lot. I have a boyfriend in Airforce Base and I don’t usually receive call from him since cellphones are limited. Letters is the only way that I update for him about things outside of his “world” and sandboxx help us communicate faster and I’m able to receive more messages from him. It usually takes 1-3 days depending on the day the letter was sent. Loving this app so much and had to write a review for it hoping for your friends and family will also get support from you!

Happy Camper. There are too many good things to say. Using this app has been such a positive thing for my family. I have two littles and a dog and they do not stop moving. Every time I get a few minutes, I can easily write to my husband. I LOVE that I can send a photo with my letter. I’ve been using another app to make collages so that he can enjoy pictures of all of us. It’s so fast! I can send a letter everyday and there’s no hassle. I don’t have to worry about getting it to the mailbox or post office, I don’t even have to think about stamps, I don’t have to leave the house, and it gets there in like two days! My biggest challenge is which picture to include. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for this app! ♥️♥️♥️

They are stealing your money.. I have been trying to find a direct line of communication to get in contact with these fools about stealing our money. My brother and brother en law just returned from the Marine Corp and when we asked about certain letters sent they had no idea about them. And when we asked how they send their letters to us they said they paid to send a letter back. In the Sandboxx app it states we are paying for postage to get to them and for them to return a letter to us. While on base my brother in law told us that he was told by every commanding officer there to NOT USE SANDBOXX to reply to any mail. So they were forced to pay for a stamp that they shouldn’t have had to pay for because WE PAID FOR RETURN POSTAGE. Now if SOMEONE from Sandboxx can give me an email and figure out a way I can get a refund for the $2.33 letters I’ve been sending plus the $0.49 the Marines has to pay to send their letter back. BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY JUST BUY STAMPS AND SEND YOURSELF!

Save your money and time; Highly Disappointed in this Service. I requested to cancel my account and requested a refund via the chat box with a representative as they did resolve my issues, concerns and potential improvement to their app. I simply just wanted a refund and help the company. The rep. stated that according to there terms and conditions, etc., they do not offer refunds! I requested to cancel my account and did not receive any help with this request as well. Also, they don’t have a way to determine any military recruit’s assigned mailing address via their app or website, etc. I made the suggestion to the rep. but she just gave me a hard time and was rude and very disrespectful. In my opinion, they only want your money and waste your time during a very sensitive time in family’s lives when you are worried about your child’s or friend’s emotional well-being. This is unacceptable for families going through this difficult time of first time military basic training for your family member(s), in my opinion. Overall, I feel that I wasted my valuable time and energy with signing up for an account and even considering this app to help future and current military families. You have been warned as I do not recommend this app to any family member or friends at all. It’s a rip off; so sad. Highly disappointed with this service.

Absolutely Worth It!!!. So many great things about this service! Fast delivery in both directions, tracking in both directions, the self addressed stamped return mail helped my trainee focus on writing and not wasting valuable time filling out envelopes! As soon as they get mailed you can track it! Seems silly but when letters are your only line of communication it’s intensely important to see where everything is! And the customer service is top notch. I had an issue and within 10 minutes I got a response and a solution! Cannot recommend this enough!!! Thank you for providing this service! It’s be absolutely invaluable for our family!

You NEED this app for your loved one!. My sons father went off to bootcamp and I always wondered how the letter process would go. I’m not one to write letters and go to the post office. My schedule does not permit it. This made the process a breeze for me. Sandboxx is the best thing since sliced bread. It’s so easy and affordable. Only down side is I do wish there was a way to send multiple photos. I enjoy the subscriptions as well. Especially being able to send him daily scriptures to help him along the journey. I love seeing the notification that I have a letter on the way as well. They also let you know the latest news and what your recruit is doing. It was an all around great idea!

Is very helpful. This is probably one of the best apps if you have a recruit in basic training. When I downloaded the app and saw that my recruit was registered I was over the moon. I sent a letter and was delivered the next day. That time frame is incredible because being stuck at home with no communication with them but those letters you get a little impatient. I’ve only had one little hiccup so far but I used the help option to reach out to a representative and they answered my questions almost immediately. That put me at ease so fast and let me feel confident me and my recruit were in the right hands. This company is amazing and is such a great tool for loved ones as well as their recruits in their military journeys.

Complete and total rip off, this app is FUBAR. I sent a letter using this app to my friend in the Navy. Before this app, I sent him a handwritten letter through the mail using stamps, I would receive a reply after about 1-2 weeks. My friend told me that he was told that this app was faster and he wrote to me saying I should use it because of that. This is a total lie. Not only is is significantly slower for some reason despite it being digital for one of the delivery ways, but it is a complete rip off. It cost me $5 to send 1 letter. A letter that Sandboxx somehow lost in transit. Despite that, they keep letting me know that “it’s in transit” even though it has been a month. Not just that but this app keeps notifying me to buy a $40 subscription to send a Bible verse to my friend once a week. What an outrageous price. Do not use this app, they will rip you off, lose your letter, and lie to you when they screw something up.

I Love this App!. I was told not to expect to hear from my son the first 3 weeks of basic training. I brought credits on sandboxx and figured I’d give it a try. I wrote him 3 times the first week. Sandboxx made it easy. Every time I thought of him I would pull my phone out and write a few lines. My phone is always with me so it was easy to build a letter during the day. It also uploads pictures so I would send pics of his dog and family with each letter. Sandboxx includes a sheet of paper & envelope for a return letter. I did not know that! My son got all my letters and the first Sunday he sat in Church and wrote me back! He had to borrow a stamp but I was one excited Mom to get a letter before the end of week two! Bless his heart. SANDBOXX THANK YOU ❤️ So Worth it!

Just what a (milSO) newbie needs!. I've never left a review ever and Sandboxx deserves one so I am making an exception. They have been really helpful especially in locating the address of my SIT. He was only able to give me his platoon and company info so I wasn't sure if I had the right address. Also, I was missing the infantry brigade # and they were able to provide this and actually edited the address for me. Thank you Sandboxx for being proactive and making sure that my letter was sent out as promised. Your App has been a Godsend to us all having a hard time with the first few weeks. I have been writing weekly and now wishing I took advantage of the Bundle Packages promo. Keep it up and more power to you! Not only is your product amazing but customer service has been phenomenal!

Too many glitches app doesn’t work correctly. The search feature won’t search names ever time. Have to keep restarting app and I have even tried common last names like smith and nothing pulls up . I sent a letter using this app and now it won’t even let me find my RCT to send another letter . Certain screens don’t fit the iPhone screen and the keyboard stays up and thus causing issues trying to see or click anything the keyboard is covering . Someone from the apps tech seriously needs to do some actual self usage using differs platforms and fix what seems to me to be easy fixes. I will send my letters via snail mail now and it’s because this app won’t let me search or reconnect with my RCT who I just sent a letter to two weeks ago. He was in my connections list and now he is not and like I said can’t search him to try to reconnect. So frustrating !

Wonderful Way to Stay Connected. Sandboxx is a really great way to keep in touch with your service member! You get to write a letter from your phone or computer - very convenient, and you can choose to a photo if you like towards the end your letter. There are a couple of things like not being able to add more than one photo and when you want to add other writing in the letter it doesn’t really let you. You have to erase what you have because if you try to type (like a text message) it deletes everything else you wrote and the curser goes at the very end of the paragraph again. Kind of annoying, but I got over it quickly. Such a great addition for the military families to have 😃

10 returned letters and counting. I spent A LOT of money to send my friend letters, only to have them returned a month later after being told by the app she got them. $4ish per letter, wasted for over a month! Then, I tried to reach out to get them resent, no answer. Last time they did it but I have 10 letters I'm trying to resend and no one is getting in touch with me. They need to find a better way to do this. My friend did get injured, thus getting moved to a different platoon, but if they're charging this much they should have a way to fix the problem, or, when they see the address got changed, resend every pending letter so even after I get the returned ones, I can atleast get told that the recruit got it. I have 2 months of letters I'm still trying to get sent back to her.

A Mother's thoughts. I'm a mother of 2 sons, 1 was in BootCamp with the Marine Corps 10 years ago and our only form of communicating was through letter writing, which would take weeks to get. There was no app like this available, fast forward 10 years and now we have another son going through BootCamp with the Navy and our son wrote to us in his 1st letter to us. I downloaded it and started sharing it with our family and friends and now it just takes 2 days to get a letter to our son but not only that, we get support on booking flights, hotels and car rental at the lowest prices and the ability to change or cancel our flights, hotel and/or car rentals with little to no cancellation fees. This app is so useful. I highly recommend it!

A bit pricey, however.... We were a bit taken aback by the cost of tokens/letters however it’s a wonderful way to keep in touch with our son, especially since snail mail seems to be taking longer than ever. Our son receives letters in two-three days, as long as we have them in by 5pm. This is longer than the “overnight” timeframe stated on their website. We’ve been using the app for just over two weeks and have yet to have a letter deliver overnight, so for us it isn’t accurate. Fingers crossed, maybe that will change since the holidays are done. Overall we’re happy with the app/product and love that we can send letters, as well as daily inspirations and newsletters, to encourage and support our recruit. Thanks Sandboxx!

Bummer. A couple things, first there should be some kind of help for those of us that are poor as it is very expensive. It really makes it unfair for those Marine to be that grew up with poor families. I certainly don’t see how a discounted price could hurt to help the income eligible. 2nd if you decide to add more to a previous paragraph it jumps you back down to where you were on every space you take so for instance if I didn’t use my swiping feature I would have to move my spot every letter, when I use my swiping feature for my keyboard I have to readjust the blinking line after every word, still quite annoying! Other than that it is great for my first 12 letters just don’t know how I’ll be paying for the next ones after that or if I will have to send them snail mail. Bummer!

Makes Writing Letters Easy. Sandboxx makes writing letters to my recruit as easy as writing an email. It works great. Just know that it costs a lot more to send a letter via Sanboxx than just sticking a stamp on an envelope. That’s in large part because every Sandboxx letter is sent overnight with return stationary (but not return postage). It’s worth the cost on my opinion. I have a couple of suggestions: the store isn’t contained in the app and takes you to a web page, it would be better if I didn’t have to leave the app. That may be due to Apple’s strict rules but if not ot would be a great change. For example, you can send cards (birthday, etc) but not in the app you have to go to the inline store to do that and all of my saved information doesn’t show up there. Also, I subscribe to the monthly family plan which gives you the ability to “share” letter tokens - again, can’t do this on the app. I have to send an email to support and ask them to transfer tokens to a specific Sandboxx user. As great as support has been in doing it, this function should be in the app. Bottom line though, is that this is a good app and great service that only needs some minor tweaks to be great.

Bad app! Do not even down load. Just a poorly design and not user friendly app. I rather send mail the old fashion way. 3 dollars a letter and that’s before tax?? Come on this is a rip off. I also called customer care to delete my profile and I get some guy from working from the back ground noice home. I asked him show me how to delete my profile because I don’t want my info out there and he tells me it los better to just email the app people than calling. He does not know how and that someone will email me with probably a link to delete my profile! Probably???? Come on guys I am a Vet and this is a sorry app to scam people that don’t know better but you aré preying on their feelings and love for their loved ones in basic or training. If I was to write an inmate from prison it would cost me just the 59 cents or whatever it cost to buy a stamp to write them. How pathetic is it that you would charge me more than them. Anyway. Bad app wish I could talk to someone. I just do t feel my info is safe.

Good and annoying, all at the same time.. This app is lovely when it comes to tracking mail sent and received, but it takes just as long to receive the mail on both ends, as a hand written letter (hand written is cheaper). Other reviews say it’s next day mail, but that isn’t the case. I’m assuming it’s because of Covid, things are a bit different and I get that. But $4 for one letter that takes the exact same amount of time as a hand written one isn’t ideal for me. It is super nice to be able to track each letter and know when they’ll be received by both parties but that $4 definitely adds up when you’re sending multiple letters and to me it just isn’t entirely worth it when it’s still taking the same amount of time as hand written letters.

Beyond impressed with this service. As an Army trainee who was lucky enough to receive these letters in basic training, to now an NCO deployed with my unit overseas where stable internet is scarce. My first thought when i got overseas was how to keep in touch with my family back home in a way that was secure, meaningful, and convenient. My first thought was Sandboxx because of my fond memories of this apps support during basic training. No need for envelopes, stamps, or printer access. By using Sandboxx, it cuts the time nearly in half for sending letters back home since theyre printed in CONUS. Furthermore, the tracking system helps me find out when exactly my letter is getting printed and sent. When i had trouble understanding how the system works internationally, real human support was there immediately and incredibly helpful. Thank you to everyone at Sandboxx for the time and service you provide each family, trainee, and military member. Also special thanks to Gretchen who gave me fantastic support as soon as i needed it! She patiently and confidently answered all of my questions.

“Love My Airman” “Love My Sandboxx”. Hand-written letters are great and I will continue to write those as well. Sandboxx is great for on the go and busy lifestyles. It would be hard for me to sit down every day with my work schedule and write a hand written letter and then go to the post office. This allows me in the comfort of my home to type it on my phone...send it with a picture... FedEx it overnight and then have access to see when it gets there. I have completed three letters to my Airman so far on Sandboxx. My mother completed one to my son, but still has to mail it today when we go out. I just composed mine and it was sent already and will get there tomorrow ahead of hers. Thank you Sandboxx for taking some of the stress out of my life!!!

Great service!!!. I started using Sandboxx in 2018 when my oldest son went into Navy boot camp. My son loved it because he would get his letters quicker than everyone else that just used the regular mail. Plus he loved the fact he would get a picture with his letter and also a envelope stamped to reply back. I just started using the app again when my second son went into the Army. I had a little problem with some of the addresses that were in my contacts that needed to be edited. I was able to send a instant message to Jannil at customer service and she was able to correct all the changes that I needed updated. It was so easy. Great service and a great product to use when you have a family member in basic training.

Son in boot camp. Got the link to this app from my son who filled out a card after getting to boot camp. Not sure if he has the ability to send me letters from it, as I’ve received nothing from him so far. He is in week 3 of Marine Corp training at MCRD San Diego. This app seems to have some bugs. Can’t look him up via the Kin tab on the iPhone. App just crashes. App needs an iPad version. I’m using the iPhone version on the iPad, but it’s not a perfect fit, mostly because the keyboard covers buttons you may need to click on. The iPhone doesn’t have this issue, since it’s screen and keyboard size is native to the app. The cost of sending a letter is a bit pricey, but maybe not so bad if I were sending it overseas, so time will tell...the tracking feature is good. So with a few fixes and tweaks, I think this could be a sold 5 Star app for the intended purpose.

Wish it worked!. I don’t know where the problem is, but I’m assuming it’s the format the address is written in by sandbox. My wife sent letters(regular postal service ) 2 days after I wrote my first sandbox letter to my son in boot camp. My letter was delivered and signed for. I’ve written 7 letters since then, my wife has had numerous (10+) letters received by my son and he has written back 2x with multiple letters in one envelope. We are talking 3 weeks here and he still hasn’t gotten ANY of my sandbox letters. NO mention of my letters in fact, they have communicated about the fact that he hasn’t got any of mine! Meanwhile all the inspiration and well thought out words and pictures to support and uplift my son are all sitting somewhere, but NOT WITH HIM! I can’t describe the disappointment! I don’t even care about the money I spent after seeing the first letter hit the base... I don’t know what the issue is but I don’t care either, I’ll never recommend this to anyone, doesn’t matter who’s fault or why, way to important to chance it. Back to good old proven postal service. Everything that works has a process, apparently something is broken here, it would be good of sandbox to investigate this and find out why.. oh and identical addresses from my wife’s postal letters to sandbox... maybe the Army dislikes the envelopes they use.. I don’t know but beware of this app.

Price Gouging. This is pushed as a cheap and fast way to talk to your family while they’re in Boot Camp. It’s anything but cheap. They charge a little less than FIVE DOLLARS to send ONE LETTER! That’s absolutely unacceptable. It’s for their fancy paper and one picture. I had 84 picture printed for $8 with free prints. That’s the cost of one and a half letters through this app. The worst part is if you want your significant other or family member to get a letter quicker than snail mail this is about the only option. I did have to send one letter through this app but unless I have to again I won’t be sending any more letters through this app. Also they try to get you to do add ons to your letters. Some of which are $40! We already miss our family enough and here they are trying to drain us for every dime we’re worth. It’s disgusting really. They capitalize on your emotions. Unless you absolutely need your family member in Boot Camp to know something next day don’t use this app.

Brian Vetrone. The Sandboxx staff have created a very informative app that makes communicating with your sons and daughters (God Bless them all) very simple and convenient. It is definitely worth the prices because it isn’t just mail. They walk you through what your recruits are going through during their training and it puts your mind at ease during this time. You can send photos, news, gift cards or inspirational messages which our son said helped him tremendously. The staff at Sandboxx will also guide you on what to ask your recruit after they complete a phase of training so their letters back to you can be understood if you’re not well versed in military terms. God Bless our Military and Thank You to all who served.

Great concept, but still needs work. The app is a great idea and works decently well. Letters are easy to send and the cost of traditional envelopes and stamps plus return stamped envelopes is not that much less. Time to delivery and letter tracking is also very good. I think being able to buy credits before composing a letter would be much more efficient. Also, I found the app froze several times while exploring the features and some pages had no way to return to the previous page. There are some pages where you are sent back to the app store to download the app when you’re already using the app. Instructions and guidance are sparse; my wife & I pretty much stumbled through until we figured it out. I’ll call it a work in progress for now and may revise my rating in the future as the team improves the coding. I hope my feedback helps call attention to things that could work better

Download at your own risk!!!. When I first downloaded the app, I loved the idea behind it. I sent my first letter and I was very pleased with how I was able to include a photo and also was able to track it. HOWEVER, I kept noticing small glitches in the app that would make me worry, but nothing ever happened... Until today. The app logged me out and absolutely will not let me log back in. It keeps saying connection error, and won’t even do anything when I try to log in. I’m very unhappy and if it doesn’t resolve then I better be getting my money back! I have seen reviews like this already where they say the app has lots of technical problems and glitches. And I totally believe it. So, download at your own risk.

Helped Grandson get through his Basic Training. Sandboxx really helped our grandson make it through basic training, we sent pictures and wrote him many letters a week,he really missed being around family and having no phone to stay in touch with us, made it even harder on him. The service was great and we really appreciate Sandboxx for being there so we could get him through his training. I appreciate the fast delivery of our letters and I know he looked forward to each and every one of them. This is a great way to stay in touch with loved ones serving our country. Thank You Sandboxx for being there for us.

thank you!!!!!. getting an alert from sandboxx was the first communication i recd from my son which made my day as i now had an address for him. the app is super easy to use and really helped with my sadness of him being so far away as i can write to him any time of the day and i like that it will pick up where i left off if i didn't finish my letter before i closed the app. when i see the prepaid envelope in the mail from him, our whole house gets happy. the app is extremely user friendly and a must for any proud but anxious parent whose child is in recruit training (boot camp) as it does help ease your mind somewhat (a mom never completely stops worrying). thanks!!!!! p.s. the last update prior to 1/2/18 crashed the app so that it wouldn't even open. i did as they suggested and deleted app and reinstalled it and it worked fine again. so when i saw the 1/2/18 update i was hesitant on installing it as i didn't want my app to crash again. it took me until 1/5/18 to stop being a wimp and i installed the latest update and guess what? it works great!!! :) i like the small enhancements made to make letter writing even easier.

just write instead. the first couple letters I sent with sandboxx, I was willing to pay essentially $3 per letter to get to my boyfriend in basic training. but, his address on sandboxx was wrong so I entered the correct one but it now auto defaults to the old one. whatever, not a big deal just a pain. but the really big pain is that they advertise next day delivery, yet one of my letters has now been processing for 9 days. I sent my boyfriend a letter through the mail in the last week that got to him quicker than the sandboxx letter did. the letter I sent through sandboxx was submitted on the 13th, and has yes to be delivered. there’s another one I sent on the 18th that is still processing as well. I understand weather, and the pandemic are factors in this but don’t advertise next day services. it is not worth how much they want you to spend on tokens and when my last token runs out, I’ll just be sending snail mail.

Cannot recommend enough. I was hesitant to use it because of the cost of the tokens but it has been the best way to communicate by far. It give you updates on approximately where it is at and when it’s delivered and when one is sent back. It sends everything to your recruit to write back which is all worth it in my opinion. You can send pictures without the hassle of trying to print and mail them yourself. The customer service is quick and so helpful when it comes to any mistakes or things that happen within the app. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has a loved one or significant other in the military.

Good but a bit pricey & annoying constant notifications. I like that it’s convenient, it’s pricey though, $4.00. You get these annoying notifications reminding you that it’s been this long since you wrote to your recruit it’s time to send another letter. My son said they get mail call once a week so I don’t need to be reminded to send another letter in a week. The notifications are annoying and you can’t find it in the settings to stop them. Also the website is not easy navigate through like there’s no purchase history to look up an order number. I Think it needs more helpful tools than selling products.

Service not what is stated. I got sandbox because my nephew who is at Marine Basic told me to use it to write him. I got the 20 postcard with inspirational quotes and six tokens to write letters to him. But I noticed that the postcards which were supposed to be sent on each week day did not always send out on each day and the letters that I wrote did not always print according to what was said on the application and also did not reach the delivery address within the proposed time and it is not due to Covid/holiday stuff because I know for sure one had to be re-printed because it was lost or disappeared into thin air. For the price I paid for the services I would not recommend it for others to use. Pretty disappointed with it. And also I didn’t like how there was no way to confirm that they received it. I have no idea if my recruiter has received anything that shows as delivered. Did he really get it or did it just get to someone’s desk and got lost? I guess I’ll find out when he graduates and receives his phone again.

Use at own risk. I thought this app was going to be a great thing for my son in basic training. To be able to receive letters quickly with support from family friends sounded almost too good to be true. Turns out it was too good to be true. My first three letters I wrote my son we’re all delayed by three days. It only takes a regular letter sent thru snail mail three days to reach my son, so basically I paid $3 a letter to get the same service I can get for a .50 cent stamp. When I asked customer service to credit me for the three letter credits I used to send those letters, they refused. I understand sometimes there are issues that can’t be foreseen. I would even understand if they said they would give a credit for one letter. I was even ready to purchase more credits to continue using this app. But the first three letters of the first three times using this app goes wrong and customer service refuses to show actual support. As a veteran myself, I know how important receiving letters from home can be when you’re new to the adult world and 2000 miles from home or anything you know to be safe. Often times that’s the only thing you have to hold onto is support from home and my son deserves better service for volunteering to serve his country as his family members have before him going back to his great great grandfather.

Awesome resource!. Sandboxx is an excellent resource we used to quickly communicate with our son in Navy Bootcamp. While we still sent typed or handwritten letters, we used Sandboxx roughly once a week to send something quick. It also gave us the opportunity to add return postage- which he used to send some of his letters back home to save space there. We also added motivational subscriptions, which ensured- along with the Sandboxx letters and our own mail- that he had a good variety of mail coming to him nearly every day. Is it expensive? Depends on what your son/daughter/husband/wife/friend’s motivation is worth to you. I’ll gladly pay the small cost to keep my son upbeat and ready for the next challenge.

Must have. I was hesitant to use this app as some sites said too expensive. As an Air Force dad I love this app. You pay a little extra but the ease of sending letters from my phone with photos was awesome. I really liked the ease of writing letters when I had time and hitting send. My airman said the letters came in great with no issues and during long days in BMT made the difference. I also used the travel portion to go to graduation. The folks at Sandboxx are very kind and go out of their way to help you. The airplane tickets were very fairly priced and the added insurance was affordable which was good as with the military things can get cancelled or rescheduled so that provided great peace of mind. I know you pay a bit more for letters but as a parent I highly recommend.
