Needs Improvement. This had some fun play, however, upon working my way up to the dragon, I have to say the same word/letter spelling combinations kept coming up with the same letters over, and over, and over again. Out of all the words in the English Dictionary, you must certainly have the capabilities of coming up with new word and letter combinations! It got boring really quickly. Quite predictable. Because of the constant letter repetition, I only gave this 3 stars.

LOVE. I absolutely love this game. You spell words to kill monsters and make your way up a tower, and you earn coins to upgrade your equipment along the way. You can spend hours playing this game without ever spending real money, if you like, though I did make some in-game purchases to support the developers. Thank you for such a great game!

Too many ads!. It is a unique game. Right at the beginning, the game starts giving you an ad every time you finish your level. Each level gives you 30 seconds of gameplay and then it gives you 30 seconds of ads. I get that they are trying to earn a living off the game but there are so many ads all the time that it’s hard to try it out and enjoy it. The other issue Is that you lose lies very quickly.I get that it is an RPG style game, however you have to wait at least 30 minutes for you to get one life back. In addition, every time you beat a level for a free star you lose a life automatically. This game has potential to be fun but is inundated with barriers.

Great game but.... Levels 1-99 are relatively easy but progress nicely in difficulty. Level 100 is ridiculously more difficult than level 99. I've had to play level 99 dozens of time to even make a dent in level 100. I kind of wish there were more levels between 99 and the dragon. Otherwise this game is fantastic and tons of fun!!!!

Fun way to pass time. I am enjoying this game as I wait for my kids to go to sleep. Why won't they just go to sleep?! At least I have something fun to do while I waste my life away waiting...

Needs some major improvements. This game is generally pretty fun but it really pushes you towards buying some premium content. I get that the developers need to make money but this game can be frustratingly slow paced if you don't give them a dime. Kind of a shame too because I'd play this non stop if there wasn't a life counter. What's that? I can buy more lives and skip the waiting? How convenient!

Glitches. I love the new challenges added to Spellspire. However, there are frustrating glitches in which the game is not giving credit for accomplishments. For instance, a new challenge for palindromes did not give actual credit for palindromes submitted. Now does the game total credit for sp long words that begin with various letters (e.g., “Spell 5 words beginning with the letter h”). I love the challenges but of course need the glitches to be fixed before I continue playing. I tried giving feedback to the company, but I’m unable to send a report.

Words and quick thinking. This game keeps you on your toes you have to be quick it is challenging, I am older so this helps to keep my brain going... it is not easy when you first start you Think you can but find that you really have to be quick thinking, very good game, I do enjoy playing it, good exercise for the mind

Grindy, Bugs, and a Cash Grab. Very grindy after about ten levels. Adds every 3 levels (more if you want to play well). Bugs! (All my content deleted after playing for 30 minutes and I had to start back at level 5 despite being signed onto FB). Constantly feels like a cash grab but the power ups don’t really feel worth it. This could be a nice gem, just sell it for 2.99 and maybe I would buy it, but the F2P model just feels insulting.

Fun but big problem. It’s very fun but I would say to fun. There is one problem I hate and that is that you have limited play, Why should u be limited to learn? I think that is a stupid idea to put that I understand you need to make a profit but u made this game for kids to learn and now that u put a limit to play I think that was dumb but otherwise it’s good

Fun for adults and kids alike!. My 7 year old son was playing this game and he asked me for help with some words and it got me hooked too! I like how you can level up your items and you can go back and replay for stars.

Single Player. Just started playing this game, but it's pretty cool. The main reason I enjoy this game is because it's a single player word game. Every other word game usually requires you to play against someone else.

Well.... This is a great game that combines different aspects of games that I enjoy; however I cannot get over the fact that the game pushes purchases to be able to have the full experience. Instead of watching an ad for an extra life (or something along those lines), the game immediately says “pay $.99 for an extra life” otherwise, I have to wait 30 minutes for more play time. I like this game a lot, but not enough to spend money on it. :/

Limited play. The game is conceptually exactly what I was looking for, and it’s very challenging. However, it’s weird to me that I can beat a level that I already passed and still somehow manage to lose a life. Plan to have one or two other games alongside this that you can switch between while waiting 30 minutes for another life.

Bad execution. An interesting game concept ruined by poor design choices. The gameplay is simple and fun and provides players with a sense of progression and achievement. However, the flow of the game is halted by frequent and intrusive ads. Ads are a necessary evil in free games like this, but the game is further complicated by providing players with five lives, which are consumed during normal gameplay independent of the player’s performance, and replenish at the slow rate of 30 minutes per life. Unlike many similar ad-supported games, you can’t watch an ad for more lives, buy more lives with in game currency, or do anything else to actually continue playing the game... except wait two and a half hours or pay actual cash to replenish your lives. Five minutes of gameplay, followed by two and a half hours of downtime. Couple this with the fact that the game is grindy. If you don’t repeat levels and grind for game money to buy and upgrade your gear, you will quickly find yourself unable to progress no matter how well you play. Your character simply won’t be strong enough even if your word and gaming skills are top notch. Keep in mind that repeating a level, or trying the next level and dying, both cost one of your lives. One minute of gameplay for thirty minutes of downtime.

Love it so much!. I can’t say enough about this game so much fun while also being challenging! Only thing I don’t like is the inability to play more than five lives at a time without needing to pay.

Please add more!. This spelling game is a lot of fun. It's good to exercise the brain. I've maxed out at level 51 for the added health & defense. I wish that would be changed so I can keep playing in the dungeon. The dragon & foes are more difficult to beat there. I have like 15,000,000 in gold but there's nothing left to buy since I've beaten the game.

Really fun, expect to grind. This is a great game. You can absolutely beat it without spending a dime, just expect to beat the same levels multiple times to build up your gold and upgrade your gear. The only thing that is annoying is how slowly your lives rebuild but they need to encourage some spending of actual money. I plan to make an in app purchase just to promote this company in hopes they make more games.

Great game - bug. Super fun concept. Rpg meets words. I love to make different words and see how that defeats the monsters. Absolutely delightful. Every time after I watch an ad the screen goes black and I must reload the app. Please fix.

Great!... but one more thing. First off, I love this game. The only problem is how when you buy the live refill, it’s not permanent. I would buy this game for $5 at the most with the dungeon and unlimited lives. Sincerely, me.

Great game!. I used to play years ago and now I finally beat the dragon. Its a fun game to enjoy and learn. If you want to get unlimited lives, just change the date/time 1 day in the future. Then go back in the game, and you will have full lives and a new chest ready.

Well Made Free to Play Word Game. This game combines simple RPG elements and spelling to create a very enjoyable experience. I collected every item in the game, unlocked the survival mode, and collected all the stars without spending any money at all, and although ads appear they were never too intrusive and didn't bother me. It's definitely worth downloading if you like word games or RPGs or both.

RPG + ABCs!. If you are into RPGs and also appreciate word games, this is an awesome little game. It’s been many years since I actually had a game that I felt the need to “check in” with on my phone. Some people complained about the timer on your lives refilling... I actually like it a LOT - it makes sure that I don’t play for too long in a sitting, but gives me a reason to keep playing. I do wish they had a version where you paid money up front so you didn’t have to deal with ads. I would pay a pretty decent amount right off of the bat for this option (moving it to a paid app rather than free). Yes, any purchase gets rid of the main ads, but you still need to watch one to get better letters for three rounds or to get a percentage more gold at the end of a level. That being said, great art style and animations, crisp sound effects and a nice soundtrack. Overall, super fun! I’m pretty addicted to it!

Don’t pay to unlock the sewers. This game is fun for like 20minutes. Then you are out of lives and have to wait to play for even a little bit. I saw a sewer thing that said I could pay to unlock unlimited access to endless dungeons so I bought it thinking it would give me something to play while I was waiting for more lives. WRONG. I still couldn't play it since I was out of lives and then when I finally went in I got the smack down from an enemy that is the boss 7 floors above my current progress. This was only the second enemy in the endless dungeon. If I could pay for unlimited lives I would gladly pay and probably love this game. Instead I can pay a dollar to get 10 lives, which is ridiculous to me.

It's good, but.... I wish it were a little more difficult. I was hoping it would be a lot like that word bookworm game. Also, the game asks for a review way too early, give players a chance to play a little more before asking. So far tho, it's kind of fun.

a challenge. this is a fun but realllly challenging game. if you mess up, one life takes 30 minutes to regenerate which i felt was too long of a wait. also idk if its just my phone but i didnt pay for the ad-free version but instead of a normal ad, i get to stare at a black screen. ive waited for the skip ad sign but nothing pops up. i have to close the entire app and re open it if i want to continue playing. does this happen to anyone else or is it just some glitch on my phone

Love This Game!. What a great twist on word gaming. While it's definitely possible to win without spending any money, it was too tempting. I spent probably $20 total to win, and I'm not sorry. The developers put time and effort into this, and I got more than my money's worth of entertainment. However, I'm not happy that you can buy equipment you can't use if you don't have enough bag space...that's a pretty dirty trick. Still and all, five stars. Hot tip: USE THE MONSTER BOOK!

Cool idea. It’s fun but I’m pumping out words as fast as I can and it’s no enough. The star thing we’re you get get hit once is crazy with how fast the mobs attack. The ads are a lot but i Get it. Will probably lose interest after a week or two. I can’t seem to keep up with the time of the monsters attacks.

Another great 10tons game. As someone who has played a lot of 10tons games over the years, this is another fine game by them. My fiancee and I love it. Best of all, it makes you think a bit.

Pay to play. Fun to play for about 10 minutes til you run out of lives and have to wait 2-3 hours to fill back up. You can also pay to get lives refilled each time instead, developers should have just made the game a buy to play game instead of capping the ability to play without purchases

So much fun! Fair balance!. This game is very fun, funny and has great presentation to boot! That aside I think the dev's stroke a great balance with the p2w scheme. Game is beatable with $2-4! But definitely feel free to put in more money to support the developers, they definitely earned it in my opinion! Bravo dev's!

Just awesome!. Don’t listen to the haters. Everyone wants something for free these days. These developers don’t make these games out of the kindness of their heart. They make them to make money. The fact that they let us play for free at all is amazing. The upgrades, the artwork, the control over the inventory you use and the change in uniform to reflect are all awesome. I just love the animation of collecting the loot. Just an awesomely fun time!

Broken. A fun free game, but unfortunately the ad system is so broken as to completely take away anything positive. Every level or two you are going to be presented with an advertisement. That's totally normal in this day and age, but on iOS 10 anyway, the ads don't work at all, you are left with a black screen forever. Your only option is to exit the game and trying to reenter it. Too much hassle.

Fun game but.... The game is very original and clever. I was super excited when I first got the game, however over time even the game’s originality couldn’t save it from itself. For one, the ad system got to be overwhelming. Every 2-3 levels you’d get an ad and almost all the time you beat a level you’d get one. I guess the developers figured they’d take advantage of your euphoria from finally beating a level and stuck a guaranteed ad in there. Secondly, there should definitely be an affordable infinite lives in-app purchase like Trivia Crack did a couple years ago before they got greedy (it was $25 and then after a year or so they made it $100 which is ridiculous for a phone game). People shouldn’t have to spend $1 every time they want their lives refilled when it should just be $10-$25 for a one time purchase. FORTNITE IS FREE PEOPLE. The game only offers cosmetic purchases; nothing that affects game play. Imagine having 5 lives and then having to wait 2 1/2 until you could play again. It’s ludicrous.

Spellspire. At first I loved this game, but as I have progressed it has nothing to offer. I have amassed and spent over 50,000,000 gold and it’s pointless. I have all of the wands and all of the hats and armors. I am at level 111 in the endless dungeons and nothing changes. No matter how much attack power I add, the tougher enemies still take just as long to defeat, regardless of the wand I’m using and the weaker ones blow over like dust bunnies. Like I said, it started out great, but it could offer more.

Lots of potential. The core gameplay is pretty nice, and the art direction is fun. Unfortunately, you are limited to only short play sessions as when you run out of lives, you have to wait a long time or buy more for cash. I don’t get devs that deliberately prevent you from playing their games. Can you please just add a buy button so I can actually enjoy it?

Ads cause black screen. Every other level when the sponsored ad shows up, the screen turns black and the only way off of that to play game is to exit the game, close it out and then restart the app. It's annoying to say the least and a hassle to have to do just to play for a few minutes at a time. Other than that, it's a good take on the game.

Great time waster. I have tried about a few words games that add rpg like elements into the game, and so far this is one of the better ones. Smooth and easy and a good time waster.

Limited play. This game is really fun but it always falls short because every time I start to get into it I run out of lives. 5 is the max which is 5 levels. Which it takes 30 minutes for one life to come back. If You could pay a set price for this game I would but it’s not worth paying a dollar every 10 minutes to get more lives.

Yes, yes, a million times yes!!!. I am only around level 5, but I love this game. The graphics are really nice. Clean and simple lines. Great color. The game concept is great. Not too challenging but not to easy. Definitely worth the download.

Awesome game!. A fun and challenging game where you battle monsters by spelling words. Longer words are more powerful against the various goblins, undead, etc, but you primarily gain strength through gear and other upgrades (IOW, it’s a game for fun, not learning new words). One thing I didn’t realize until much later — items in your bag are not active until you use them. The first item I picked up was a shield, and I thought that carrying it meant I had extra protection. Nope! The shield is a one-time-use item (like a health potion) vs an equipped item (like a hat). You have to tap the shield, then your character is protected in a temporary bubble. Yes, this game has ads, and they are *fantastic*!! Yea, sounds crazy to say that ads are fantastic, but how many times have you seen ads where the close button moves around? Where there’s no mute button? Where the ad fakes you out by counting down, then counting down again? NONE of that bull happens in this game. All ads have a close button in the upper right, a mute button in the lower left, and only one countdown. I wish all games handled ads the same straightforward way this one does!

My favorite word game ever.. It has been a while since I beat the whole game but today I am searching for a game that is as addictive as this was. I remember that even when I wasn't playing it, I was thinking up possible letters I would be given and then thinking of words to make from them. Absolutely insane.

Limited play time || Buy to play. This game is creative. It’s fun too. You have to spell words to attack your opponents. I remember it asking me not once, not twice, but three times before I could start a level saying something along the lines of “Go visit the store” “are you sure you want to try this level without upgrading first.” Very pushy. Got to play a few levels and then it said I had to wait 30 mins for another life. (1 life=1 Level). If you like being able to pull up a game whenever and play it, this might not be your prime choice. I can see why the developers would attempt this, but honestly I’d prefer a game I can play as often as I want without paying for it.

Great game, one problem.... +1 star for being a great game. -3 for their ad program breaking the game every few levels. Regardless of being on cell or wifi, every few levels you get a word from their sponsors. However, this just leads you to a black screen and nothing happens. You need to close the game and reopen to continue.

ShillSpire. Right to the point on this one. There needs to be an option to outright buy this game so you don't have to wait for lives to recharge. Put this as an IAP, for around $3, and I wouldn’t be able to recommend this enough. As is, sadly, Spell Spire feels like an overly grammatical money grab. Fix it.

spelling fun. I tried this game to see if it would be good for my kid when he gets a little older. It looks like it could keep someone engaged long enough to learn something. This is not just spelling words: there are different opponents and equipment choices for variety. I didn't go past the free part of the game because I already know how to spell, but this seems like a fun way to learn spelling.

Slow down the timer. I enjoy the game, but it is quite difficult for the kids I work with. They are dyslexic and have a hard time finding words so quickly without dying right away. The kids love killing the monsters! I would love to see an option where you can either have no timer or that the timer can be set to be slowed down. MG

Good game but micro transaction trap. This game is basically designed to try and make you spend as much money as possible. You lose lives weather you die or not and that makes no sense. If they could just get rid of that stupid mechanism then the game would be much more enjoyable because it is actually a very fun game.

Adorable and quick witted.... Absolutely love ALMOST everything about this game: the graphics, the concept, the depth...but I wish you could get lives faster than having to pay or wait 2 1/2 hours for 5 lives. All in all though it is rather addictive.

Stay away!!!. This game is the result of a greedy mentality. The game itself has a nice mechanic, however it requires you to wait 30 minutes to get a life, and even if you make a purchase to unlock some of the perks (es. gain more coins per round), you are still stuck waiting to play more. The game asks you to pay $0.99 if you die and you want a quick resurrect, instead of making you just watch an ad for example. I made a purchase thinking I would get infinite lives with it, but nothing. I felt tricked. I am never trying anything that comes out from those developers in the future.

Love a challenge. So far I'm enjoying it. But just as someone else said, maybe some customisation would be nice to make your character a little more unique and a story so the experience doesn't become to repetitive.

But it is geared around a pay to win model that is so intrusive it gets super-annoying super-quickly. I imagine some developer was close to tears as his/her work was monetized to within an inch of its life by an account exec looking to hit a quota. Sad.

Mystery Monster. I love spellspire and all but the mystery monster after the crimson dragon is? Also I would also appreciate it if in your next update you show the monsters they are just in a have not seen section thank if you do next time I will consider rating 5 stars

Addictive. This game is really fun and addictive. It gets you thinking hard as the levels go on. I do think there should be a choice of difficulty though. (Eg. Easy, Medium, Hard)

Thanks to developers. Just want to tell you guys that this has been a long lasting favourite game. For a free game it has so many pluses. Like being able to play on airplane mode as long as you have lives, being able to leave it for awhile and come back to your saved assests. Just a nice game without too much sell. So many nasty developers out there it’s so nice to come across some who play nicely. Thank you. You are a rare breed.

love the game, is there a bug?. hi I really love the game, managed to get 99 stars and beat the tower within a week, but I got a quest to kill 4x Ballistic Gel in dungeon level 2, but none have appeared despite playing over 10 times. They do appear more often in the level 1s, but stopped totally in level 2. Is there an explanation for this?

No Armored Corpse Elite in Underground Dungeons Lvl 2. The first quest in the Level 2 Underground Dungeons is to beat 2 Armored Corpse Elite monsters, but after over hundreds of metres into it, there is never any ACE and I have played this level dozens of times. Please fix this bug. It's a very addictive game.

Spellbinding. I really like this game. The progression is well-balanced and the idea is fun. My only suggestion for improvement is to adjust the Quest in Level I (or maybe II?) of Endless Dungeon to collect 12,000 coin in one run. Surely this was a mistake as it was quite difficult to achieve.

Costs too much. It’s a great concept for a game, such a shame they’ve used a money-grabbing profit model. When you run out of lives, it costs money to refill them, or wait long amounts of time. It was the perfect game for my 6yo to practice his spelling, but he got frustrated and deleted it. Would be so much better with a one-off fee.

Idea to this game better. Make it son you can use two letter words. More live like with 4000 gold for six lives forever. Events like lighting castle, ten floors you have you lighting spells. They could easy small reward standard medium reward hard big reward hardcore large reward Wizard massive reward. Reward for 2000 coin and random spell. Medium 5000 gold two random spells so on. Other than that is a great game bye

Improvement ideas. Very fun and enjoyable But I'd like the suggest something to consider Firstly is the timer until the monsters attack should be increased even just by a few seconds the other thing I wish you could improve is the timer for the refill energy they should decrease the waiting time and/or be able to hold more energy at a time and a final idea is being able to buy infinite energy personally I would be willing to buy it. Very long sentence ^^

Educational and great fun. My 8 yo and I love playing this game. Sometimes the letters allocated dont vary as much as we'd like but this is a great game overall. Anything that combines spelling etc into a fun game is great in my book , especially with a young daughter.

An okay app with glitches. This game is okay, simplicity and basics. Althought I did expect things to work. Words that do not work, even after using an "A to Z book"... Losing all items when you die? That's nuts as well. I cannot recommand this game for many reasons, but I've seen alot worse games around.

Dropped me 10 levels. I was on level 30, but when I opened the app a few days later it said I was only on level 20. It also got rid of all the gear I bought. Deleted!

SUPER FUN!!. I love this game so much! Has a relatively good pace while still being slightly challenging! There aren't many in-app purchases that are available while is especially like! The ads are few and far between and able to be exited right away. There are 100 levels so you always feel like there is a goal to be achieved. Wait times for "lives" are tedious, but you can't have it all. 10/10 would recommend to any who love word games!

Love this game!. I love spelling games but the cute story and art and the challenge of this one makes it much better than any spelling game I've played before! Not only does it exercise your word brain but it makes you use strategy too which is even more fun.

Great game! But the dungeon is buggy.. This game is great! Unfortunately there seems to be a bug in the dungeon level 3 where the quest requires some ex cuisine corpses to kill but none ever show up, so the quest can't be beat and you can't get past it.

I’m Inspired by Spell Spire!. Nice simple word game with rpg dnd elements. Makes you think fast and keeps your mind sharp (as well as your wand!). I enjoyed it more than Alphabear.

I want more!. This game is so fun but I beat it so fast because i cant put it down. I really hope the devs make more levels

Quite brilliant.. Great concept, it just needs a bit "more". A bit repetitive, but definitely a great time killer.

Overwhelming ads. Great game, original concept, but it’s hard to play because there’s so many ads. Getting up the levels without paying any money is hard, too.

Very fun!. A game that makes you use your head, and kill zombies at the same time! The pen is as mighty as the wand!

Greedy Developers. You used to be able to get extra lives in the treasure boxes and I haven’t received one since the last update. Now I get to play this game even less. These developers are the worst kind of dark pattern-following leeches.

Great until 39. I'm on level 55 now and I can't progress without going back to get stars. The problem is that from 39 and on you don't get stars or gold when you complete them in star mode. I would like to continue playing please.

Great fun for word lovers. I love this game! The Jumble aspect mixed with the attacking monsters aspect is very unique and exciting for people who love to scramble letters.

Takes 24hrs to refill a life. Honestly wasn’t a bad game until I ran into this tired mechanic. I can’t enjoy the game because it wants me to pay money or wait 24hrs to play again. This isn’t an arcade. This game has ads which play after every other level, so why are there also microtransactions?

4 Stars. I'm rating this game 4 stars. It is a very cool and challenging spelling game. I love the fact that I can just use random letters and hope it works.

Lives run out too fast, no permanent solution.. Your lives run out very fast. After <20 minutes of playing. And it takes longer than that to get them back. You can pay 99c to replenish them I CENTER, but there's no way for infinite lives. Terrible. Why make a game that I can't play without stopping playing your game.

Fun Word Mash-Up. It's fun so far but I wish all the Facebook requests weren't there and so frequent. Not sure how long this will persist but other than that a fun simple game.

Lives not regenerating. Ran out of lives and had to wait 30 minutes to regain a life. Reopened app a week later and still have no lives. Does the app actually need to be open as you wait for time to count down?

Really fun!. I find myself playing this game more than any other game. Even games that I purchased.
