A waste of time and money. My first call connected me with someone who not only couldn’t help, but apparently was AT WORK at the time, and the connection was so bad anyway that the call dropped after less than 5 minutes and I didn’t even get a credit back.

10/10 would recommend. Talked to a mechanic name Pete he was really helpful gave me advice of how to fix the problem and what it could be took his advice and what do you know it works so now next time if I come across that problem again I know what I’m doing

Was hoping this was real. So first thing you do is download the app.. with hopes that maybe… just maybe your problems are solved by a free mechanic app… HAHAHAHAHA!! My behind. Second you sign in with you fb, google or apple log in..( so they now have ur email and personal info..) you’re hit with $5,$20,&$40 just to talk to someone… this has motivated me to talk to my IT friends to start a real free mechanics advice app… good luck TINKER… I’m gonna call my help… NOTTINKER!!!

DONT GET THIS APP!!!!!!. downloaded the app read the reviews that’s all i needed to know , instantly deleted as convenient as it sounds it’s obviously too good to be true go to a local mechanic it’s really the only options we have or ask reddit or quoara

Great inspection. Fast, smooth, and super easy. Used the Tinker App for my inspection and everything went perfectly. The technician was professional, friendly, and explained everything clearly so there was no confusion. Quick process, great experience. Would definitely use again.

Not clear about car models supported by uber and unfair charge. This app is charging you without letting uou know that your car model is not supported by uber while the age restriction should stop them from running this before making sure the car year is not accepted! Very unfair and not good!

Not free. Was excited for an app that would help with advice and connecting to mechanics, well it’s not free, why does everything have to cost money, what happened to helping out the community from the goodness of our hearts, we need love again

Can't Sign Up. The first page that asks you to log in or sign up is as far as I've gotten. It asks if I want to sign up using a phone number, email, google account, or apple id. none of the buttons work. No matter what i select, nothing changes on the screen.

Awesome idea. Would totally love to write a better review as a mobile mechanic not having to pay for some service to give you car information dosnt sound awesome to me. Would definitely a better review if I could get past the set up! It’s happy to let me put in all my information other than my email address and wouldn’t let me go any further. Trying this out on iOS so I’m not sure if that’s the issue but I would still try out your app even despite these issue!

This app is great. I was able to save a lot of money changing the oil on my own daily with help from the mechanic I chatted with on the Tinker app. I'm going to start doing a lot of my own car repair now.

Cost you.. It will cost $5 per use. They don’t tell you that until you put all your information in. So they can spam you!!! Cost should be disclosed first so I can decide if I want to continue. Instead of last if I wanted a subscription I would have all data!!!

Skeptical at First. Very happy with the call. I know how to do most everything on a vehicle but ran into some issues I couldn’t figure out. The mechanic gave me some great ideas next steps to complete the job and told me a list of things it could be if I continue to have issues with it very knowledgeable very happy with the service. Definitely recommend. I will use them again if or when needed. Thanks

Good way to learn to master car repair. Was real frustrated looking through videos and forums to find answers to my car questions. The guys at Tinker gave me the confidence to do more maintenance things myself. Would recommend for anyone who wants to learn how to fix there cars

Optimistic that it could be good but it isn’t that. I downloaded this to give it a shot even though I’m pretty mechanically inclined. Everything is through a pay wall and there’s no simple info to guide anyone though working on their car. The only options is to spend money on tokens to call a mechanic. Which all this info can be found on google or forums. I think it’s a complete scambait for people to spend money on free info

Car selection. very little options for adding cars to my garage. i own 4 cars and not one of them was i able to search and add to my garage.

Time Saver. I always get to a point of new project that I get stuck and have to search forums for help and they usually don’t have all the information. Being able to talk to a show a mechanic where I am stuck and get advice on how to complete the job saved me a couple hours. Was well worth it for me.

Great app. Great app and would highly recommend for your car service needs.

Outstanding and Quick!. I love this app!

Quick, easy, and saved me money. There’s new features on the app and the mechanic I spoke with helped me avoid spending an extra 300 bucks on something I didn’t really need. He also walked me through the whole process of selling a used car. Spent 40 bucks to save half a grand.

Wish They Had Classics. This app looks promising. It’s clearly new, but the oldest it would allow me to select was 1996. I have a 1969 Ford F100. I’m sure most of the people who could benefit would be those with Pre-1996 vehicles.

It REALLY WORKS!. This app makes me want to be begin a career in the automotive industry, when just a few weeks ago, all I could do was change the tire, barely🤣!

Timing Belt Change. Tried this app out, the mechanic helped me with some timing belt questions, and got me through the process. Good experience for me, will call again for my project Subaru.

Perfect for situations when your stuck and don’t know what to do. Pete knock is a highly recommended mechanic. He knows his stuff and knows how to listen. If you meet him keep him in your contacts.

Pointless. I got the app today and used it today, I needed advice on what to buy to paint my car such as what type of primer, paint, activator and such and such and the guy literally tells me to go to Eastwood for advice or to go on their website for what I need, I got on the call to ask someone directly because I had already been searching on the website and everywhere and was confused, so literally he just told me to go onto the paint website they have everything there. Secondly I got on another call and it literally glitched me out of it and I got charged for it and that was that. If the people on here are just going to tell me to go into an auto paint store for advice when I called them why even bother. Highly disappointed and I’d like a refund for the call I never got, I already sent an email. I’ll remove the review if I get my refund.

Expert Application. **with all due respect, my comment is due to the fact that I was told I was chosen as an expert and even provided a mailing address for the Hat and T-shirt and then MONTHS later I was sent an email stating I was not chosen which is very misleading and confusing. But if I wasn’t chosen due to the skills I stated I have then that’s that. And that’s why I suggest an improvement in communication. ORIGINAL REVIEW>>>>**I want to start off by saying I never tried the app itself as a DIYer I am speaking regarding my application to be an expert!!** So my review is based on my experience on applying to be an expert, I applied initially in 2024 October and have just been notified today that I was not selected based on their decision, this was after months of emails asking them for a status update. I hope that they are able to work on improving on communication with applicants. Hope I can use the app for my benefit one day

Great app. My expert was Pete, I didn’t catch his alst name but he was awesome. He patiently helped me with any and all questions that I had. I’ll definitely use him again.

Like AAA when you need to do the work yourself. Desperately needed to change my air filters but didn’t have the time to drop my car off at the dealership. Felt like any entry level enough “repair” I could fix myself. Called an auto tech through this app, they talked me through how to access my air filters, we confirmed they needed to be changed, told me the price range I should expect to pay for new filters and how to make sure I walked away with the right ones. Made working on my car feel totally doable which is no small feat. I imagine I’d use this service again if I was in a bind and AAA had a long wait time.

App not oppening. I downloaded the app a while ago and when i opened it for the first time it just stayed in the starting picture and it never moved the app just completely froze i downloaded again just right now to see if it got fixed and the app still won’t launch correctly

Scam app.. Says nothing about having to pay until it just straight up asks you to pay. Besides that it doesn’t actually have any car information whatsoever. Whoever made this app please think about suicide.

Satisfaction!. Registration took 2 min and the actual inspection. Less than 7 min I got very good agent to assist me named Steve nothing more to say absolute satisfaction and inspection done less than 10 min thanks guys!

Good app, so far helpful. Got this just to help me through fixing up my new project car. Talked to about 2 different experts, so far so helpful. Pretty good automotive experts

Awesome app. I was running into some issues turbocharging my car and a few of the mechanics I talked to were awesome about helping me with solutions, the app is very very user friendly and it’s all around great for anyone stuck on something or want to do things themselves🙌🏻🙌🏻

Great app. Reasonable pricing. Just what I needed!. Love the app. Just what I needed. Solved my problem. Good price. Simple payment. Quick response. Everything is spot on! I’d recommend branching out into other services beyond car repair: Home renovations, 3D printing, etc. Sky’s the limit.

If I can give - stars I would. They’ve become greedy now and too expensive and not worth it unless your working on brake pads only don’t expect to get much info to help with a big project because now the calls have been limited so much and they’ve increased their prices basically services have gotten worse and payment has increased, get at your own risk you’ll spend so much money to learn nothing with their limited calls so yea they are no longer for the diy community more like they are the government at this point just here to tax you for no reason with high taxes and give you the least from your taxes so yea good luck to whoever thinks this app is a good idea because it used to be better. P.S two days after this comment they didn’t like what I had to say so they deleted my account 😂🙏🏾 thanks for saving me the hassle

Good concept, poor execution. I work on my car a lot and lots of times going back to google for help, so I thought this would be an amazing app to try. Unfortunately that’s not the case. After making an account you see the home page and go to start a conversation but it’s $5.99 to start a conversation or there’s a subscription. It would be nice if free apps were actually free even if the free chat was an ai helping you suggesting solutions or videos to follow. That or make the app paid for. The concept is nice but I’m disappointed that the first thing greeting me was to pay for something, it’s kind of deceiving especially since it’s free and not mentioned in the advertising.

“Expert” was horribly uneducated, not worth the try. Got on the call today, immediately got connected to Issac in order to ask about what could cause my fuel pump not priming. I have a strong background with Hondas and mechanic side of stuff, but was looking for a second opinion. He had no idea what I was talking about, giving me recommendations that I told him in the beginning of the car I have checked or replaced, So he was throwing anything out to stick and majority of them didn’t even make sense because he was so unfamiliar with the application. He was keep loooking everything stuff up online to read me online recommendations. I have already done my research myself, I paid to get an advice from somebody with experience! Very disappointed and will absolutely not give this app a second try!

Completely trash. I got it just to figure out how to get just one bolt out because it has been over ten years since I had done this one job on this particular engine I am a mechanic with over 20 years of experience but since I moved to a different state with limited tools because my main tool set is 18 hours away from me and at my mother’s place tools I have had since college/tech school I thought that this app would be of better value and help welp back to the bulletin boards for techs and they want you to pay for advice how bout a free side where we the people bounce ideas off each other to better get the job done

I’m turned off. Why didn’t you tell me I have to pay before you take all my information. Now I’m skeptical of going any further because I don’t know what else to expect. I really thought this was going to be innovative in launching towards a new direction of automotive technology.

Personal experience. I tried to call sat on the call for 20 minutes waiting. When one did answer they never actually connected to the call and then just hung up. I got charged for a call that wasn’t even worth making cause they didn’t answer. Edit/update: I wrote an email June 10th, 2024 asking for help as to what happened. Edit/update: I have personally spoken with the customer support team for the app. Today June 14, 2024. They said that what happened with me was a bug/glitch in the system. They have put out an update to help fix and patch this bug. They also are an incredible team. They even made it right with me. After they reached out they comped me a few calls as an apology for what happened. They are an amazing team and business!!! Hats off to y’all!! Thank you!!!!

Significant price increase. I watched multiple ads where the cost was around 7 dollars per call. I downloaded the app and created an account only to find it was $40 per call. The ads were from late 2024. Maybe the price will increase in 2025? I'm not sure what the expectation is, but if you have a check engine light, I doubt they will stay on the call while you troubleshoot problems until you find the problem. Regardless not worth it at the much higher prices.

Takes too much of your personal and vehicle information for it to be just for repairs.. I can’t add my car accurately since the settings are too strict. And why would you need all this info that DOXS your location if they get hacked all your info is cooked.

Wish they could have said something about this. You cant do anything in the app until you buy something for 40 bucks

Decent but important feature missing. The Interface works really well and the pricing is super cheap but you can’t SEARCH for a mechanic that specializes in your Brand, Model and Year of your car. While I was connecting to a possible mechanic I saw what their Brand experience was and if it wasn’t my brand (2004 Subaru Forester) I would hit the button to hopefully find a mechanic that DID have the Model experience I was looking for. It shouldn’t be that random.

The app. Idk if I should use this app because first you could have been honest to a payment instead of hiding behind a computer bad business and I Won’t be using it because what else are they hiding are theses even real mechanics or are they computer mechanics so this app I will pass and be truthful next time then people will use you but for now I won’t thanks being honest is best. Great Auto DIY App. I like to do stuff with my car myself when I can, and it’s great to have an app where I can get expert help from a car mechanic when I need it.

Good app. The app is great, if you don’t know anyone that knows cars very well or just doesn’t know the answer to your problem. Well worth five bucks for a phone call. The only problem with it is if you are disconnected from a call, you don’t get your money back. Also there’s no way to actually call the company to ask or inquire questions about how to use the app.

Save money and do it yourself. Used this app to connect with a mechanic & changed the filter on my car. Took me like 10 minutes and save a ton of $$$$ having people at the shop to do it for you. Great app!

Quick response - Great advice. My call request was answered in less than 2 minutes at 9 pm. Pete gave great advice and shared personal experience that helped me fix the problem that I had been struggling with. For any DIYer, I’d recommend this service before taking your car to a mechanic. Great price for the service I received.

Car specific. I got on the app but from the reviews idk if I really want to pay even 4.99 what if I glitch out or what if I get a clueless mechanic it would be more comforting if you could search brand specific mechanics for like Subarus because the transmission on my 1999 Subaru legacy went out I don’t have the funds to pay for a repair I want to diy it on how to install a new one on my own good concept needs better execution

Battery Issue. Was able to get quick and well informed assistance with my car when it wouldn’t start. I was having the interior lights come on and clicking but my vehicle wouldn’t turn over after a chilly night with sudden temperature drop. The auto expert advised that my battery was being drained by the colder weather and due to the age of my battery it was best to replace it once I got a jump start. I was concerned it might be a alternator issue as well and the automotive expert was able to advise me to have my local auto parts store run a code scan to confirm alternator was good before investing in a new battery. The auto expert stated based on what I was experiencing with my car and what I had described happening he felt confident it was just a battery issue. Happy that my car is running well with no issues. Will definitely use again when I have an automotive question, or need assistance with an automotive repair, auto part replacement, or plan for a vehicle upgrade I want to tackle at home. Price is so expensive. It was with a reasonable price, but recently wanted to try , just saw it went up , better to get the vehicle to mechanic and pay in person then over phone

Was a great app. Nearly every mechanic I have talked to on here has been awesome. With that being said, every now and then you get one that isn’t very helpful, when I first started using the app it was $15 for unlimited monthly, which is awesome, honestly probably should’ve been closer to $30. At $50 per 4 calls or $15 for one call now I don’t think it’s worth it, there’s too much of a risk of getting someone who isn’t helpful or the app glitching and you not actually getting to use the call or your phone dying etc., at that point you’d almost be better just taking you car to the shop. It nearly defeats the entire original purpose of the app with is for DIY’ers trying to save some money. I’ll be sticking to YouTube and talking to local mechanics, this app may still be great if you are just stuck and you can find the answer online and you get just the right person, but I don’t think it’s for your average diy’er anymore
