Tesla Comments & Reviews 2026

Tesla app is great. The Tesla app is simply phenomenal and enhances the ownership experience in ways I didn’t even think were possible. The intuitive interface makes it easy to monitor and control my Tesla remotely, whether it’s preheating the car on a cold morning or scheduling a charging session to take advantage of off-peak rates. Features like live location tracking, the ability to send navigation directions to the car, and software update notifications are incredibly convenient. The app even integrates with my home energy system seamlessly, helping me manage my Powerwall and energy usage effortlessly. The connection is reliable, and updates consistently bring new functionality and improvements. Tesla truly knows how to make the app as innovative as their vehicles. Highly recommend for any Tesla owner—this app takes the driving experience to the next level!

Insurance scam. The Tesla insurance is a scam and continues to ding your score no matter how good of a driver you are. I have done nothing wrong and have followed the rules by being a safe driver and yet randomly when it gets close to renewal it dings and marks something negative so that I have to keep paying more every time ! I used to love how it worked in the beginning but now I am convinced that it’s an insurance scam. To be clear it may not be Tesla doing this , hopefully but it just doesn’t seem right and probably why people are ditching their vehicles . I think I need to do that I can find a more reliable insurance to cover me. By the way the hours between 10pm and 4am don’t drive unless you want to pay $ 100 more monthly. I am a first responder and need to sometimes drive early like 3 am to get to my station , then the app marks me negative and this is just unacceptable. Drivers don’t have many other drivers that early or late at night to defend against and as a first responder , we see more vehicle accidents during the day than at night so it makes zero sense!!! Saying goodbye to my Tesla for now but who knows , maybe they will fix this in the future once enough give up the car.

App is…. Okay. So this app looks GREAT, but it’s missing some big features. - 1. Interactive widgets. I shouldn’t have to open the app to use a widget. - 2. We need to see a lot more inside the app, such as drive details like your recent trips, battery health, etc. It would also be nice to be able to link driving data to mile tracking apps for work purposes. - 3. Being able to view security footage from your phone is also a necessity. - 4. With the outside speakers, it would be nice to able to access them from your phone to tell someone to stop if they were breaking in, or to even say something from inside your car to people outside your car. Some people would want to abuse this I know, but the good use cases would be awesome! - 5. Emergency power. I know the car is not designed for it yet, but we really need to be able to use the cars battery to power our house etc in case of emergency. - 6. The ability to start a light show from the app, and have the ability for the car to automatically create a light show just by you choosing a song for it to dance to. THIS WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

Great App, But a Few Tweaks Would Make It Even Better. The Tesla app is incredibly seamless and user friendly. Everything is well packaged, making it easy to navigate and access key features. I love how intuitive the interface is, and overall, it enhances the Tesla experience. That said, there are a few minor improvements that could make it even better: 1. Seat Heaters & Heated Steering Wheel – It would be great to have an option to enable seat heaters, cooled seats, and the heated steering wheel without having to turn on Climate and then turn it off again. Being able to access these features independently would improve convenience. 2. Wiper Service Mode (Winter Use) – A remote option to enable wiper service mode would be helpful for winter conditions. This would allow users to lift their wipers for easier windshield defrosting without having to pre-set it before exiting the car. 3. Tesla App Notification – When closing the app on Apple devices, a persistent pop-up appears saying something like ‘Keep the Tesla app open for best efficiency.’ It would be great to have an option to disable this, as it can be quite annoying. 4. Purple Dot on 2024 Model 3 LR AWD Tires – There is a small purple dot that appears on one of the tires in the app, and while minor, it’s visually distracting. Removing or adjusting this would improve the UI experience. Overall, the app is fantastic, but these small tweaks would make it even more user-friendly!

Worse after v9. When I plug in the car to charge I no longer get a message saying charging scheduled for 11 PM or whatever time you set up for. it just says charging stopped. Therefore when I go to sleep I have no way of verifying that my charge is set and ready to go like i used to. Also, I no longer get an error message that the cord is plugged in incorrectly or there is a fault or whatever might impede my charge that is going to start a couple of hours after I go to sleep. The old app gave that info which you could check at a glance before retiring for the night. This is quite a downgrade from your previous version which gave all of that information and more. If you’re going to start annoying people with updates that take away actually useful features in the real world, you’re just like every other tech company. Now just to be sure I don’t wake up in the morning without a church I have to manually start my charger at about 10 PM before I go to bed confirm that it’s charging correctly and then go to sleep charging when electricity still very expensive rather than starting later in the middle of the night. Thanks Tesla.

They took away the solar city app. You took away a functioning app that provided us with useful tools to monitor our solar systems installed in 2 homes. Also had the ability to make payments. You forced us on to this app where only one home can be monitored, to a very limited degree. Can’t make payments. Can’t get assistance. Forced into a website, that still gives no detailed information on the system in order to make a payment. Why would you take away a great tool and replace with something that is of no benefit. If you haven’t noticed, the world runs on apps. Update. Received an alert that the gateway wont communicated with Tesla. The email didn’t state which home. App and website are still no help for multiple systems, and no customer support phone number listed. Had to google search for it. 2.5 minutes through and annoying IVR to then wait on hold for a representative. 16 minutes until my call was answered. The app, website, communications and customer experience are terrible. The customer service agent agreed when I mentioned the app and website. Pretty sad when your own employees acknowledge the problem. Went from a company I enjoyed doing business with as Solar City to a complete disappointment with Tesla.

The new charge stats feature is great. For a while there wasn't a charging tab to see how much your charging cost at home and with the new update they have the feature to select your time of use plan with your electric company and it automatically sets the schedule for the days of week and even the season which is really nice! Now I can see how much it costs per night to charge at home during off-peak hours. Although I wish there was more detailed controls. For example the app tells me that my window is open, but doesnt say which window. The Tessie app can do this though, which is what I use more often than the official Tesla app. I can only set scheduled departure for "all-week" or "weekdays" there is no "custom" tab to set the days where you actually work... I'm glad they added automations to the shortcut app on iOS. But still, this app is meant to be more simple, and made for Monitoring rather than data harvesting. If you are a data geek and need more practicality and functionality over charging schedules and location automations, I recommend the Tessie app premium version.

USELESS CAR. Not a good electric car to go with. Too many problems with charging and the car itself. First 2 years were fantastic but after that i start getting problems. The battery doesn’t last longer and tesla claimed that their car can go upto 300 miles but it was going only 220 miles. In emergency, its not a good car to rely on. You can’t drive faster because you will lose your battery 10x faster and charging takes around 6 hours. Make sure you have another car for emergency purposes. Don’t rely on electric especially tesla. My other family members has electric cars but from different companies and they really work great. They are better than tesla. I would highly suggest to go with a different company than tesla. Also they charge so many fees when you try to buy a tesla. And in top of that tesla charges $250 for ordering a tesla and that doesn’t make any sense. Why should someone pay money for ordering something? Its like you are in a restaurant and you want to order something but you need to pay extra money just for ordering your food. I would never recommend tesla.

Horrible user experience. I find the entire experience, end to end, with Tesla to be consistently horrible. First, getting an appointment early enough is not possible when I had an emergency with my tire almost being broken. Then the day before my appointment the service center said they can’t do loaners so basically I was on my own without a car. Ther is no service center number to call and talk to someone because they want all of it to be done via the app. I’m a digital business app development person so I know the modern channel preferences of apps. When I got to the service center, the front door was locked so the app scheduling isn’t synced with facility location times. Then I entered through the work area and every mechanic saw me and just ignored that there is a customer in the work area. Then I went to one and told them I had an appointment. Finally someone came and took the car. They sent me a message the car is serviced and I should pay but the app messages take forever to load and when I click view to pay it gives me an error each time, so I can’t pay. I called them again but there is no way to pay via phone. I have no idea how I will pay them.

Critical issues. 1. When the cruise control is turned on, the wiper blades immediately turn on, but this is not normal, as the brushes often scratch dry glass. 2. Sort the Apple music in the same way as it is done in the iPhone, so that you can sort not only Alphabet the name of the songs, you need to sort by artist, the last added songs. 3. When the windshield wiper is on, for example, at first speed, but sometimes you need to press the button on the lever to wipe off the water, and the car will switch the speed from first to second, and so the speed of the wiper increases with each press. This is not normal. 4. The navigator's map does not show street names on the map in route mode. This is very inconvenient, because sometimes you need to change the route at the request of the client and it is impossible to do this, and you have to search for the street name in Google maps. 5. Why did they remove the lightning icons on the map ⚡️ from the charging points of the car? Now, when you're just driving along the road, you'll never know where the charging stations are nearby. Previously, you didn't have to click on the map to view all the charging stations, but now it's the only thing that saves.

Lack of Apple watch support. The iphone app works great. Tesla clearly has a huge software development engineers. Why, then, is Tesla behind competition by continuing to ignore the Apple Watch users? I am disabled andthe easier it is for me to pop a trunk or lock a door, the better. Siri's touch accomodations and accessibility services are amazing and they work best ACROSS Apple devices. I used to be able to open my Ford hatch with a kick of a foot. I knew Tesla didn’t have that feature but it certainly could do even better by allowing users to users to activate the watche's Siri assistant and execute custom commands such as "Siri, please set car temp to 72 degress." Siri, please open the trunk of my Model y (insert custom name)." By working with the watch, I don't need to put things down and on the ground to grab my phone to do these things. Siri has voice recognition and, as a user, I am willing to waive risks associated with setting certain commands via my voice on my watch. Tesla.... Please do better.

In Elon we trust.. If you own a Tesla, this app is indispensable. It seamlessly integrates with your car, providing control at your fingertips. From adjusting the climate before you step in, to monitoring your vehicle's charge status, or even summoning your car in a parking lot, the functionality is both intuitive and comprehensive. The real-time updates on vehicle performance and energy consumption are particularly useful for optimizing your driving experience. The interface is sleek, echoing the design ethos of Tesla vehicles, making navigation a breeze. However, I'd love to see more features like advanced traffic communication between Tesla vehicles for real-time traffic updates. Overall, for Tesla enthusiasts, this app enhances the ownership experience, making it not just a car, but a smart, connected lifestyle choice. Highly recommended!

Scheduled Departure Doesn’t Work. I like the app, but as other reviews stated there is no support. I am forced to do a review in hopes of getting support for my issue. Specifically, scheduled departure doesn’t work as expected. For example, I listed 8am on weekdays as my scheduled departure with off peak hours ending at the same time. Yet on Fridays (a weekday) it charges at any time including during peak electricity hours. Also, if you enter the actual off peak end time (i.e. 2pm) with a departure time of 8am, the car will start charging if I plug it in at 3pm. The logic is extremely fickle and confusing. Bottom line, when you enter a scheduled departure, it should wait to charge such that charging completes right before your departure, period! If you add off peak electricity, it should still do the same thing, while also avoiding peak time. To do this it needs to know the start and end times for peak electricity rates. Just that simple.

Super buggy. I like the concept of the app but it’s just so buggy. Lately I’ve had major issues with the navigation. Most of the time I can’t navigate from the phone without restarting the app a bunch of times before it’ll even bring up the navigation bar in the maps. And when I finally get it to show up, it will bug out when I search a location/address, when I chose a location, or when it brings up the map. What’s the point of navigating me with the map, but losing all the reliant information like distance, time, and charging locations and time. So I’ll have to spend another 15-20 force closing and reopening the app hoping the Navi will work just long enough to get an idea about my upcoming trip. I also wish I could start preconditioning the battery from my hotel room so that it will be ready to charge when I’m ready to get back on the road as I chose hotels near superchargers. There are so many things that could be improved. If only the software engineers work on this app were also using the app themselves, they’d know what a pain in the @.. it is.

Expected more from Tesla. So many great things about driving a Tesla, but there are some features that makes one wonder if there are development processes are in place or if it’s random. 1) Why do I have more control over scheduling days/times to run my robot vacuum cleaner, than to precondition my car? You can only set the time of precondition when you’re AT the location of that time: and only for weekdays or everyday - stop trying to think for people and give us proper controls 2) Of all the alerts given, why is there no alert for “car not charging” which is critical if you plan to use your car to drive somewhere. ****Update: last night 1st time app notified that charging stopped. And did again tonight- seems like if the car is hot from highway and garage is already 120 degrees, it won’t charge. Thank you!****WISH LIST: can we get a “precondition now” button with a notice when it’s at the desired temperature. Does everyone leave the house at the same time everyday.

Enable remote view for 2020 Tesla Model S. I had 2018 Model 3 Dual motor. Upgraded to 2020 Top of Line Model S performance with Ludicrous Mode. Love it and knew the (Legacy) S doesn’t have the Sensor for phone key which I was disappointed but ok with it. Which I loved only needing to take my phone for key. Which technically I still can just have to open the app every time I get in or out and press to start which is annoying. If they could somehow update that to buy as add in. I’d do it! But doubt they will Regardless the bigger disadvantage is they didn’t include remote Sentry Mode nor blind spot camera when turning. Which I don’t understand why. I do realize it’s a vertical screen vs horizontal for blind spot but with a 17 inch screen there is plenty of space to put the view when turning. And the remote sentry I would imagine is just a software feature to enable for the Legacy computer. I truly hope they will include it with software or at least post why they can’t. Unless I missed a post somewhere about it. I’d love to upgrade to New S but That is another 20,000 to pay. And outside my budget. Hoping for prayer and miracle. Otherwise I love my rocket ship, space, and range increase Don’t forget us Legacy Owners!

Suggestions for making charging cheaper/cleaner. I am on a variable day-ahead hourly rate plan with my electric utility. I prefer to buy more electricity during selected hours when it is cheaper. In Illinois this is typically when wind is blowing at night, but obviously this varies from day to day. Cheaper electricity also tends to be cleaner electricity. It would be nice if I could set two state of charge levels, a minimum charge level and a maximum charge level and have the app/car automatically (i.e. using a pricing arbitrage-like strategy) select the hours for charging that minimize electricity cost subject to the above charge level constraints. During cold weather, this strategy would ideally also take into account losses from battery heating. Finally, it would be nice to have away to just heat the battery without heating the cabin. While heating the battery uses energy, it also enables regenerative braking which help to recoup some of that energy loss while greatly reducing brake wear.

Lousy solar app. This is a review of the solar energy tracking part of this app. I don’t own a Tesla car. The app works, so I have to give it more than one star, but that’s about it. It has three major problems. First, while it has options for showing energy data on a year, month, week, or day period, when you select one of those options it brings you to the current day, week, etc. If you want to see data from 2 weeks ago, you have to view the current week, then hit the back arrow to go to the previous week, wait for it to get and display the data, and then hit the back arrow again. Repeat as necessary. Suppose I want to see the data for the summer equinox 2 years ago, I repeat these steps some 700 times?! Second, when it is displaying e.g. the days of the month, one would think that tapping on a particular day would bring up the data for that day. Nope, it does nothing. (Granted, tap and hold will show the total generated for that day, but if I want to see the day in detail, it’s back to selecting “by day” , and stepping back day by day.) Third, the algorithm for scaling the vertical axis is brain-dead. Here’s an example of the tic-marks chosen: baseline=0, 1st tic =182, second tic = 364, then 546, 728, and finally topping out 910! I mean really, you couldn’t have figured out to use 0, 200, 400, .. to 1000? The coders for the now-retired browser-based display could do it!

Heavy background activity and battery use even with “Background App Refresh” off. I’m a new Model 3 owner, and have been using this app for a 8 days. I like the convenience of the effortless lock/unlock functionality the Phone Key option offers. The ability to control so many of the car’s features remotely is great too. But something seems a bit off with this app’s background activity. At default settings in iOS 11, it used 11% of my iPhone 7’s very healthy battery (97% max charge from new, replaced by Apple earlier this year) in the first 10 hours I had the car, and there were almost 2 hours of background activity that day. And that was with spending 4 of those 10 hours in the car. I’ve since turned off Background App Refresh, and it’s helped decrease the battery usage to about 4-5% per day. I use it a few times per day for keyless entry and maybe once per day for remote climate adjustment. But even with that setting change, it’s still had 8+ more hours of background activity in the past 7 days. I’ve written to Tesla Support to try and get details of the heavy battery use and reason for so much background activity, but haven’t heard back yet. The app does offer a location tracking feature for the car, so I would guess that’s the main drain? It also offers notifications for car-related alerts. Hopefully they can optimize things further, as other than the heavy battery drain this app is great!

Waking up... Vehicle Connection Error. This is an ok app when it is actually able to connect to the vehicle in that it does provide some nice features such as the ability to set the cabin temperature before a trip or check/set charging. It does generally improve the vehicle experience although the app’s UI is only ok - there a lot of settings buried in a long and ugly top menu. And one key missing feature is the ability to control charging with the same granularity as the car such as changing the charge schedule. But this app is very unreliable connecting to my vehicle, whether it is on WiFi or cellular. I frequently get “Waking up” messages where I have to wait minutes watching a spinning arrow for it to connect or in about 1/3 of the time results in a “Vehicle Connection Error.” I have to reboot, recycle, and most of the time it finally connects. But several times I had to go out to the vehicle and get in before the app finally connected - kind of stupid don’t you think for an app that is supposed to allow for remote access? I do like having the app a lot and when it connects it really is a good experience overall. But I can’t in good faith give it more than a few stars because it is just so frustrating to get it to connect.

Limited APP/Worst Customer Service- For Solar Beware!. This is a review of the app regarding its use for solar systems and customer service. This is not a review for the car feature as don’t have a Tesla Car. As an app it is simple and states simple metrics with a flashy background, otherwise there is limited use. The major issues is the customer service which is utterly useless. About 80% of the discussions can only be done by a messenger system and they incorrectly settle issues and are not consistent with a resolution/plan. As the messenger system crashes after 10-15 minutes where issues can last hours which makes the system useless. It’s been now over 30 days and they have still not settled issues and continue to defer me leave their plan (to be honest it’s to the point of a scam). Would not recommend anyone have to deal with this or there solar branch and suprised the scam that’s being don’t hasn’t made the news. Would recommend people interested in joining Tesla due the flashy-looking app and program that they read up online about other horrible stories about the customer service (pretty easy to search on google) before taking the risk. Getting on contact in the app is near impossible.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT. If you ever need any support from Tesla and you think that you should call and get an answer, YOU BETTER THINK AGAIN. Tesla's customer support does not meet our expectations. Their phone system is not efficient, with nobody answering the phone and endless recordings that do not provide any solutions or answers to our problems. This lack of responsiveness is so frustrating and time-consuming for customers who need assistance with their Tesla vehicles. Additionally, the service center's staff can never provide us is any immediate solution or assistance needed for an immediate problem unless we have an appointment, which by the way, TAKES DAYS TO GET IT. The service they provide is NEVER quick, it takes days to get the service done, and they treat us poorly, it feels like they are doing us a favor. This is unacceptable customer service, as customers should be treated with respect and given prompt attention to their concerns. For instance Overall, my experience with Tesla's customer support is disappointing, and the company needs to work on improving its customer service processes. If they continue to provide inadequate support to their customers, it could negatively impact their reputation and sales in the long run, ESPECIALLY WITH THE NEW EVs COMING TO MARKET.

Buggy version for powerwall. Please correct this last update. Power failure notifications are not being sent. This is critical in our area due to the many outages we are experiencing. Power failures updates are now being received since I upgraded to iOS 15. The power failure history is once again in the app and no need to reinstall it since the iOS upgrade. If iOS was required it should had been advised so as not to upgrade to this app version. The history of power failures is still only to one year back whereas on the old app it was since the initial installation of the Powerwall, if needed be please provide an option to be stored in the phone as an option to downloading the data manually. I also agree with some users that the font used to report the Energy is too small. The graphing also should allow to add the sun, house, powerwall or grid without having to click on a button, it should be as it was on the prior version. Last the screen background could be allowed to be set to a lighter color.

Better than any other app for other brands.. See many complaints about the app and Elon. I’m no Elon fan per se’, but objectively I think people forget, and maybe can answer this, what app does any other car maker have that is anything close to Tesla? None. My BMW app does like 3 things. It’s garbage. I’ve had pretty much a 99% positive experience with the app. Things just work and new features have been rolled out the last 18months that we didn’t have. Like remote camera viewing which requires premium connectivity subscription. Plus a host of other improvements. Yeah they aren’t perfect, but they are still literally miles ahead of any competition for the App and technology in the electric car market. The 400k cars a quarter they are producing and selling should be evidence enough. But this is the App Store and people love to hate. Good luck to you. Kia has some interesting electric cars, maybe that is more up your alley? The app is trash for that brand. Look it up.

One step forward 5 steps back. For Tesla energy users this app is confusing and a downgrade. I see what Tesla is trying to do with the energy destination interface and it’s slightly clearer where your energy goes now. If you click the solar, for example, you see which proportion goes to the house, grid and powerwall. That’s nice, but it could be another screen rather than replacing the old screen. Another nice upgrade is the powerwall status in SOC by time of day. I miss the energy destination page on the old version. It was instantly understandable and informative. The new one with the house takes too long to see where the little green bolt goes. Why in god’s name do you need a house picture? It adds nothing. Please take away the house and give back one of the clearest and cleanest designs in the old app. Also the app loses info it seems, the powerwall goes to zero SOC at some point later in the day and I know it’s not zero based on my other phone which has the old app. Please don’t take functionality away with your updates. It seems like this app was created by a focus group not including consumers of the info. Give us back what you took from us. Add if you want to. And fix what’s broken rather than breaking what’s working. Please give better download capability. Bulk download of detailed data. Better peak period data clarity that is downloadable.

The app is useful and convenient but needs more. The Tesla app is useful and convenient for owners given that it is heavily integrated into the daily use of the vehicle. However, it needs additional features, such as: — Allow users to remotely monitor their active supercharge session on the app by showing the cost estimate that is visible in the on the in-vehicle screen while charging (this would allow users can see what they are spending when away from the vehicle as it charges) — Provide added information in the supercharge location system (on app and in-vehicle) such as the property that the superchargers are located on (i.e. Wawa, Sheetz) Currently, users have to Google the address to find information on where the superchargers are located to better decide if that’s the location they want to stop at on their roadtrip — The MY battery seems to drain faster when the app is left open on the iPhone running in the background compared to force quitting it until I want to drive the car. It would be great if something could be done to improve the overall vehicle energy/battery management while the app is running in the background to better maintain the battery level

A Good company turned. I had an early build model 3 with all the options including FSD. Years later I found myself wanting a Model Y for its slightly larger interior space and the AWD. But FSD- which is just software, as the car is capable, is non-transferable. Even though I already purchased the upgrade when it was only a few grand, I lose it with the old car and they want me to pay $10K to have it again. Any other car I could remove an accessory and put it on my new car. Any other software I could uninstall from my old computer and bring to my new computer. Imagine having to re-purchase every app on your phone at 5x the original cost with every new phone release. Now they’re limiting me to 80% charge limits at select super chargers when I’m on long haul road trips- the entire reason I got a Long Range was to have the distance. Not cool. Don’t get me started on build quality. Tesla lost its soul in its attempts to finally turn a profit. Tesla is ahead now but as soon as a legacy brand has a better or similar EV to Tesla, I’m out.

It never works. It’s shameful that this application never works. A company like Tesla, which has done and accomplished so much in our modern times, now cannot fix the commuication issue that this application is having. Everytime I launch the application, it unsuccessfully tries to communicate with my 2018 until I get the void message “Network Time Out.” The application would only work when I launch it while on Wi-Fi. And on the other hand, a third party application, Tesla Stats, works fine and connects to the vehicle without a single glitch everytime, which leads me to believe that the issue lies in the Tesla apllication, not the AT&T service. And I’m not the only one with this problem. Multiple other Tesla owners are experiencing the same problem. One last thing: when I purchased my Model 3, the application worked perfect up until a recent application update made in the first half of 2020. What goods can you find in the convenient Summons feature, or the climate control, etc., if the application does not work? It is really about time for Tesla to solve this problem.

The Gold Standard. The Tesla app sets the benchmark for electric vehicle apps, offering an unmatched combination of functionality, innovation, and user-friendly design. Its seamless integration with Tesla vehicles provides a level of convenience and control that is unrivaled in the EV industry. From unlocking your car to starting it remotely, the app offers full control at your fingertips. Features like live vehicle location tracking, climate control, and charging management ensure you’re always connected and in command. The ability to precondition the cabin or monitor energy usage directly from your phone showcases Tesla’s commitment to user experience and efficiency. The app’s intuitive interface makes complex tasks simple, such as scheduling service appointments, accessing software updates, or even summoning your car with Smart Summon. Additionally, Tesla continues to enhance its app through over-the-air updates, constantly improving its functionality and introducing new features. What truly sets the Tesla app apart is how it integrates into the broader Tesla ecosystem, including solar panels, Powerwall, and energy monitoring. This makes it not just a car app but a hub for sustainable living. For Tesla owners, this app isn’t just a companion—it’s an extension of the vehicle itself. In an increasingly competitive EV market, the Tesla app remains the gold standard, delivering a combination of simplicity, innovation, and utility that others aspire to match.

Few things…. I find the app not exactly intuitive. Few suggestions: 1. When you click on the car, take it to the “control” view. It’s what a user would expect instead of going to the menu. 2. Why is the open frunk on the front plate of the iPhone widget ? I would say I never use it. I would rather see the “ open TRUNK” button there. I use it more frequently. 3. Navigation: I’m so used to Google nav that it’s hard to go back to something less convenient. When I enter the trip and want to search for information on place along the way I would like to see the bubbles of each place numbered or something so I can see on the map where each place is so I can choose the address. Makes trip planning harder. 4. Snow mode - that would not allow the car to accelerate rapidly to avoid sliding. It’s pretty solid but I mean the acceleration on the straight steer from 30 to 50. It would reduce the speed by 10mph from the speed limit to keep it safe. The car may obtain the info from the cameras, outside Temperature and even a weather forecast. 5. Weather forecast. Where is the feature in the cars menu ? It would be cool to have an app there showing current weather. After all depending on driving conditions the driver would be able to select proper steering mode. Even get a recommended mode (suggested for safety) Don’t wanna get to more details but hopefully someone will get the point. Developers could use that feedback I hope.

Don’t believe the lies. All these people claiming 1star reviews and all the problems… I genuinely question the honesty of some of those reviews. We have 2 Teslas and I forget the issue, it was minor, but we only ever had one problem involving the app and it turned out to be because my app version was out of date. As soon as I went into the App Store and updated, it worked perfectly and has ever since. That was a ME issue, not a Tesla issue. Say what you want about Musk’s politics, but don’t be deceived, his opinions don’t affect the quality of this product. I’ve owned numerous cars and challenge anyone to list a better auto manufacturers app, because you won’t find one. And let’s face it, you’re either downloading this app because you just bought a Tesla, or because you bought an inferior EV and can’t stand the terrible charging network so here you are trying to use Tesla’s instead.

Good App, Few Suggestions. Update: Dropping this to two stars. All of the below still stands true. I have the lovely added benefit that whenever my car goes to sleep, the widget used to display “asleep”. Now it displays an error icon and says “please open app”. This has been an ongoing issue now for months. All in all the ability to cool/heat my vehicle, remotely open doors, honk the horn, and view where the vehicle is at at any time is amazing! Light years beyond my last car. That said, a few things I think would add a lot of benefit. 1) When setting a charge limit, let me see percentages on the lines. You guys recommend a specific percentage for extended battery life. Don’t make me guesstimate where that is. 2) allow me to either pick and choose or show more options on the widget. Currently, if I want to open the frunk I’m good; swipe right and tap widget button. If I want to open the trunk I have to open the app, tap controls, then open the trunk. Minor, but if I use the trunk far more than the frunk, it gets frustrating. 3) Allow me to view WiFi connection and signal strength from the app. I have a detached garage. I’m trying to find a better location for my router so that my car gets more than one bar of WiFi. Currently I have to move the router, walk to the car and get in, check it...rinse and repeat over and over. I may end up needing to get an extender, but the app would save me a lot of headache if it just exposed this data.

Audible alarm when supercharging. Tesla thought of so many useful things in the app; I use them continually. It could be one notch better: my 7.5 yr old “S” has started to lose a bit of battery and I try to manage carefully the supercharging. 80% is currently at 200 miles. Yesterday, it hit 195 and I was charged for not moving the car. If there is a grace period of 5 minutes, my 80% mark is a moving target and efficiency is suffering as is my wallet. Obviously, I learned to set charge to 100% so as to avoid this trap next time. Why isn’t there an audible alarm on my phone when the Supercharger thinks I am at 80%? The text notices arrive intermittenly so can’t count on them. I had arrived back at car and was literally preparing to be ready once it hit 200…This reality of creeping lower charge levels creates a no win for the user. How about it Tesla? Audible charge alarm when at 75% or equivalent?

Phone has been broken for 2 months now. I don't know why it is so difficult for the app developers to keep the Phone Key working. It worked flawlessly from the time I bought my Tesla in June of 2018 until Feb of 2024. I requested a service visit and Tesla told me the issue is the app and not the car. Every other aspect of the Mobile App to Car works flawlessly. The calls and texts work without issue. Bluetooth audio works fine. The map always knows where the car is. The stupid phone key drops left and right - even when I am in the car and driving it. The "Phone Key Best Practices" are useless. The only thing that works is to close the app and re-open it. Every. Single. Time. How hard is it to have the app look at the map and if the phone and car are in the same place, reinitialize the phone key. Maybe a cronjob is needed to do this every 5 minutes. Worse yet, there is no way to communicate with the app developers to get the issue fixed. Why can I request a service through the app and even provide diagnostic info but I can't do anything to get bugs fixed? I am a Site Reliability Engineer and have raved about my car for years but the Phone Key is a true thorn in my side. I am more than happy to assist the developers if I could just get a hold of anyone who can actually do anything about it. I hate having to resort to a one star review but the app developers have left no other choices.

Superchargers are missing in the app, huge problem. I used to be a Tesla owner. Traded it for a lightning as I needed a truck. I loved the supercharger network so the subscription was a no brainer. However, there’s a big issue. The only way to activate a supercharger for a non-Tesla is to do so in the app. In Colorado, there’s at least three major superchargers that are missing, two of which are in rural areas and are crucial for long distance trips. These are in Brush and Limon, CO. If it’s not in the app, you can’t use the charger. Contacting anyone about this is near impossible. The Tesla support said they have no idea what to do and they even confirmed the issue. These show on the find a supercharger website by Tesla, but are simply missing in the app. So they submitted “feedback”. This is a major waste of a subscription, for non-Tesla EV owners. So be very cautious before thinking you can rely on the superchargers. Make sure they are in the app before committing to the membership or the drive. This almost cost us greatly on a longer trip.

Solar Time of Use Schedule Still not good enough. I use the Tesla App to control my solar and powerwalls. I’m quite happy with the app except for two things: 1) storm watch doesn’t seem to work and 2) time of use price schedule adjust. Storm watch doesn’t seem to trigger when in a sever storm watch anymore. This wasn’t a problem until recently. My electric provider has a setup that is not accommodated by the existing price schedule when using time based control. We’re in the fall billing schedule and that means that prices are high from 6-8am and then are lower until 3pm to 8pm. The price schedule doesn’t currently support separated windows and I can only represent this higher price schedule in the morning by using a price shoulder (which is not accurate and leads to unnecessary battery use on during the day on rainy days. I would like to ask for a more flexible price schedule ability so that I can properly inform the equipment on best times based on price. We only have two priced to accommodate; peak and off-peak. It’s only the time setup that I would need changed.

Quite good, UI needs a bit of polish. I founded a Mac publishing firm back in the 80’s when Apple would give UI advice to developers to help standardize the way common Ui elements were handled. So perhaps I’m a bit sensitive to small UI inconsistencies. For example, if you set a charging schedule, the app won’t tell you when your current charging session will end. Instead, it tells you when the charging window will close. If you want to know when you can hit the road, you need to disable scheduling, flip back to the main display, wait, read when your car will be fully charged, flip back to reenable scheduling. All of that could be eliminated if the main display said: Will reach X% in Y hrs:min. Charging window closesat Z pm. Other areas have ambiguous icons that toggle between grey and white to indicate on/off but what On or Off means is unclear without looking at the car. Does On mean the windows are closed or vented? In that particular case, using two icons to indicate state or better yet, animating the icons when the windows open and close would eliminate the ambiguity. Another area that could be improved would be to migrate more elements from the car to the app. For example, being able to see the trip data in the app instead of just the car seems arbitrary. Three are all minor quibbles and perhaps Tesla doesn’t have the bandwidth to polish the app. It’s a good app as is.

A good app but. I think the app has potential but the user experience is severely lacking. 1. There are no descriptions to anything so the only way to find out what something does is to click it and see what happens. I shouldn’t have to Google everything like this. 2. There doesn’t seem to be a “just turn it off” button that locks the doors, rolls the windows up and turns off the AC. I’ve had to do it all manually. 3. It’s hard to distinguish what is a button vs what a list item with sub menus. 4. Not a lot of stats about your vehicle at all. Can’t really tell anything beyond the PSI and that was a bit tricky to find. 5. Video audio won’t play unless you take your phone off silent/vibrate mode. I had to Google this to figure it out. 6. The app itself doesn’t really provide much of anything really. There seems to have been more thought out into the store section than the app itself. 7. My wife also has the app and can honk the horn while I’m signed in as the profile using it about to drive around. She was about 15 miles away. There should be limitations to this.

This app just gets worse and worse. I used to love checking the status of my solar panels and PowerWall with this app. Now it’s just a big, confusing mess with less functionality. For example, the graph used to let me select which components (solar, battery, grid and house) that I want to see. Now I can only see a single component, or else exclude a single component. And while I appreciate that I can download data (several years after requesting this feature), all I get are a few data points corresponding to the graph that’s on the screen. There is apparently no way to get what I want, which is all of the actual raw data, down to a one-minute resolution. And by the way, when “Storm Watch” came out, I thought, “Wow, this is fantastic,” except it didn’t actually work when we had power outages from storms. Storm detection is all false-positives and false-negatives. During our worst storm, when the grid was down for 10 hours, the battery started out at 20% and only lasted for a few hours with a minimum number of appliances turned on. It’s unfortunate that that this app has turned to crap, because the underlying tech is so good.

Excellent Apo. This app performs so many functions for my car. My wife has a Ford expedition and it also has an app which doesn’t even come close. I depend on my Tesla app for so many different things related to the car. Certainly, it’s the key, which is the number one thing, but for charging heating up the car in the winter, cooling it down in the summer before I get into it being able to summons the car to me, really nothing is even close in the automotive industry. Also being able to review the cameras remotely on the car is parked in a parking structure being able to start the charging at the airport. When my plane is getting close, the use cases are many, the app always works and never crashes. Some items are features are hard to find until you play around with the app and swipe here in there, i.e. there’s a referral program banner at the top. I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of it but then I swiped it left and was able to remove it.

I don’t have any problems that these others are. My experience has been great with no occurrences of issues that others leaving bad reviews mention. I think it is very device and location specific, meaning phone make/model, cell tower connectivity between phone and vehicle, WiFi/internet service (if involved in the connection equation), and potentially needing to reset the mobile phone altogether. Specifically, I have never had username/password/logout issues, so it can’t be the app is poor or my experience would be consistent with theirs. Coming from a Camry XLE and the Toyota Entune app (which is a total joke and worthless piece of crap that literally makes you type username/password EVERY time and no option of TouchID) the Tesla app is used DAILY almost hourly, whereas I would open Entune once a month to see if it had actually become useful or even worked yet. (It never became useful or worked). For the one user who mentioned they wish it would have Siri or other automation, just buy the “RemoteS” app in the App Store. You can create Siri shortcuts and literally tell your car what to do. Tesla shouldn’t be the sole developer of mobile app enhancements, just core functions. They just need to provide the capability and documentation for developers to access core functions, which they have done and are available on the web. Learn development or start a campaign to acquire the development. Otherwise use the feature request function in the car.

Can’t get any help!. We leased a Tesla over the weekend. We were approved almost immediately. They sent us options for delivery but it is actually a pick up 1.5 hours away and the only option they gave us was Monday around noon. People do have to work! Not everyone can take a road trip in the middle of the day to get a “delivery”. Why on earth is it called a delivery when we have to go get it ourselves? We can’t get a single human to help us via email, phone or the app. They keep sending us messages that they are going to cancel however we know the contract is good for 60 days as that is written on it. I have a feeling this is a way Tesla makes extra money by taking that $250 non refundable fee and never communicating with you about a pickup time that actually works with your schedule. We are beyond frustrated with this company and haven’t even gotten the car yet. I’m thankful they don’t take the full down payment before scheduling or we would be out close to $6k. We don’t even know what to do at this point to get our car, there is zero customer service help.

Multiple Teslas same app. This is an updated review from almost 2 years ago. This app used to have serious issues. It didn’t help I already had a negative view of Tesla altogether after purchasing a model that did not work properly and my local Pensacola service center would do nothing about it. However with that issue aside I’ve decided to give an honest opinion. Over the last year they put a lot of work into the app and into the car tech itself and I must say I’m really impressed. Everything works a little better and it is much more fluid. I hope they continue the updates and efforts. Now if they could only fix the Pensacola Florida Tesla service center I would be so happy. Whenever I have an issue I either tow my vehicle or I drive 1250 miles to the council Bluffs Iowa location for service that is absolutely amazing. They’ve taught me how to use the app better and a lot of other things that aren’t expected of them but they do it anyways to keep their customers and clients happy.

Benefits Energy Company!. I have used this Tesla app along with my 8 month old solar system (‘24, 05: 20 solar panels, 1 powerwall 3). Yes, it gives you a lot of info on your system and what it’s doing. No problem there. My problem is control over my system using my generated and stored energy to benefit ME! In my 3 tiered utility company rate plane the Tesla app will not charge my powerwall 3 in the low tier or with solar! Until the 2nd tier it will charge my powerwall 3 with solar and my house with grid electricity! Even tho my solar system is generating 2.0 kW - 8.0 kW and my house uses 0.5 kW - 1.0 kW. Only when I “Go off Grid” with my system will it power both. Obviously only when solar is generating 2.0 kW + and my powerwall 3 is 5% +. Now, Dec, I can’t go “Off Grid” unless my powerwall 3 is at 15% +. But my solar 2.0 kW + isn’t charging my powerwall 3 it’s going to the grid! Even with battery backup set to 100%! It also depletes my powerwall 3 daily during peak tier usage time (3pm - 7pm). Even tho my agreement with the utility company is for 60 days per year! Then I have to use grid energy ALL night and morning! It’s my $40k solar & powerwall 3 system! Thanks to Tesla I still pay high electric bills covering all 3 tier rates! But my utility company gets all of my powerwall 3 stored electricity during the high tier rate and most of my solar power!

Great app, keeps getting better. Tesla keeps improving my driving and car management experience regularly, through this app. Being able to adjust and readjust the climate remotely from my phone, including individual seat heaters, defrost, cabin temp, has been great this winter. Being able to remotely open the two trunks and charging port, flash lights and horn, etc., is nice to have when you want it. Being able to schedule a service appt, control the charging sched, map out nearest superchargers, and find pretty precisely where my car is at the exact moment, is really convenient. Only issue is the time it takes to “wake up” (connect from the app to the car), while it is only less than a minute, takes longer than I would like. When I’m standing in my house next to the router and the car is 20 feet away, also on the router, I would think it would be almost instantaneous. Would really, really like to be able to remotely activate any/all cameras and see the view from my phone. Thanks, Tesla!

Good functionality for the most part, but mileage estimations always off. When typing in travel from one point to another, Tesla estimates the miles or battery left over upon reaching the stated destination. This is vitally important of course, so one does not run out of charge and become stranded. In my 2022 Model 3, the estimations are off 100% of the time, and always off on short side. Example - traveling from point A to B will result in me arriving with 15% battery left. But in reality, this estimation is full on bogus 100% of the time, and I will constantly either arrive with very little battery left or in some cases it’s so incredibly off that I will need to find a place to charge in the middle just so I can make it to my destination. My driving style is not aggressive either. Why the constant misrepresentation? Why not provide honest, real-world estimations that could actually be useful rather than detrimental? I mostly like the Tesla experience, but this part desperately needs to change. Thank you for your consideration.

Used to be useful Last update killed it.. I use the app strictly for solar power and power wall. The interface used to be useful, I could easily see power consumption and production etc, but now it doesn’t allow me to go off grid without going into the back yard and messing with the switch. That’s the problem with computer programmers they like to change things for the sake of change. I am a very old computer programmer and the cardinal rule is if it works don’t fix it. Change and improvement should happen in the background. The UI should gradually evolve. To use a car analogy do whatever you want under the hood, but the steering wheel and the brake better be where I expect it. Is it more intuitive ? No it’s not. Does it work Any better? No it’s worse. Taking the clean simple interface and making it look busy is not an improvement. Main screens should be simple , options should be clear. Details should be accessible only when sought for. No one wants to look at a power plant schematic unless they drill down to it.

Please please Please roll back home energy app. Please roll back Solar portion. Users:Do not update. Cool update for vehicles. Poor for home energy management. The newest update needs to be rolled back. It was always easy to know the system status at a glance. Going on or off grid was simple. Now, your phone has to be paired with your power walls. If the new home page states “Go on Grid”, one would assume they are off grid. Um….maybe. Been operating the same system for two years seamlessly. Today, the app allowed my batteries to get drained during off peak hours. Guess what was left for peak. I have not paid for peak since day one. Why? I’m guessing it’s Tesla’s idea for their virtual grid. The new home page puts the opt in option in your face. And, somehow my battery reserve was changed to 0%. Nice! I get their goal. PG&E gives you pennies for your excess energy. In turn they sell it at a huge profit as “Green Energy”. Their justification is infrastructure cost. Yeah, like magic fairies installed and maintains my system for free. Tesla wants a cut of that profit margin under the guise “Help support California’s grid”. Yeah yeah…let’s go with that! Rant over!

More to do. 1. Add ability to edit the price of a specific charge session. Sometimes my “other” charges are free, other times they are paid. Maybe have a set price and one setting that toggles on/off for free. 2. If I live in an apartment and get free charging, let me set my home charging amount to $0.00 3. Schedule sentry to turn on and off at specific times. For example, every night from midnight to 6am it could be scheduled to turn on. 4. If I move and my cost or home charging changes, it shouldn’t backdate and change my stats. I should be able to adjust price going forward only. Or I switch electric plans, it should only impact cost savings going forward. 5. Route planning. I have favorite destinations saved in my car, but they don’t show in the app. Expand app/car cross functionality so I can route plan in the app using my favorite locations. 6. Let me open the glove box from the climate screen. Just let me tap it and it opens. It’s too many clicks to get to it otherwise and it shows the glove box on the climate screen just just won’t let me click it. Make it easier to open for the passenger.

Glaring bug still not fixed after 5 updates and numerous reports. I love my TM3 more than any other material object I’ve owned, but the support us lacking. There are no avenues for several types of support. I’ve reached out everywhere I can think of and phone support said to write a review here MIGHT be read. WILL THE USSUE BELOW EVER BE RESOLVED? Thanks. Ever since iOS app version 4.8.0. You can no longer see how many estimated miles of range you will have as you adjust the charge limit slider. This data point is absolutely crucial for planning trips. You can see your current estimated range and you can set a charge percentage limit, but you cannot see how many estimated miles that charge limit will yield. This bug is driving me and several other owners nuts. It has been reported over the phone, via chat, on Twitter, etc., but with little to no response. There have. Even 4 more app updates se then. Is there a fix planned? This is a critical piece of information lol obviously it would be useful to know what kind of range you will have in order to set it accordingly. Is there a fix planned?

Not as good as it should be, just does the job,. With small tweaks it could easily be 5 stars. Should be two main windows for powerwall users, simple power flow with all information on screen, Energy usage bar graph view with very detailed and instantanious view. Everything else in settings accessable in both windows. I have 3 separate powerwalls with 3 separate devices monitoring them but the names dont appear in the windows i use the most that is Power wall simple view and detailed graph view , the name of sytem monitored should all ways be present. Power flow page should have all basic details in view ie. Powerwall under that should be percentage of battery in the circle a light green fill colour should fill the circle to represent the battery status 100% the circle is all light green 0% the circle is black. Solar is the same with light yellow colour fill representing the solar status if you have a 10kw solar system then when it is delivering 5kw the circle should be half yellow. Home circle should allways be fully filled by a colour combination of what is supplying the power unless there is no power used, this will give an immediate percentage in graph form of which power source is used ie half green half yellow represents 50% battery 50% solar , i would use red to represent grid power imported and gray power exported to grid, so home circle would change to these 3 colours in the percentage used. Grid circle would either be fully light grey if power is going to the grid or fully red if power is imported to the house with the ammount of power in the circle as it is. This would then give you all information needed on one nice screen without having to go back and fourth to different screens. The bargraph is not detailed enough to see smaller power usage and time frame is not easily seen it is too rough an estimate at the moment, name of user is not present on screen. No older ipad support and not ipad friendly. No Imac support. Reminder this is 2020 come on Tesla pull your sox up i would like to buy a car now but i am wondering if i should when a simple app is not that well designed.

Ordinary. If you’ve got a Powerwall and no car, this is at best a very ordinary application. We added a Powerwall to our solar array and the way the information is presented is basic and sometimes confusing with numbers and graphs that take some deciphering to understand. Not being able to re-orient the screen is hopelessly 2012 so I can see why folks are so excited about the ability to download the data. You really shouldn’t have to. A Tesla app should be vastly better and more intuitive than an app from a far less cashed up inverter company. It’s not bad but it’s not good either.

App out of sync with widget. Overall, the app works great with my M3, even better with the Powerwalls. However, the app can report not having seen the car for hours just after issuing a notification from the car. The parked location also doesn’t update quick enough, as it can report the car still parked at home after a drive and being parked half a day at work. A software update request that would make all Apple Tags users happy: please make the app aware of the tags so that the car’s location is recognized as a safe location, like home, so that the tags don’t report to be left behind.

Best Car In The World!. This is a dream car! Literally a fantasy sci-fi with a happy ending! like the opening scene of Barbarella every morning you step inside to be driven to work. I love this car do much it is literally part of our family! A happy decision before the petrol crisis looms in Australia. I have have a perfect driving history, so include My to improve my odds since I have been driving since so long of keeping that history the Driver assist is perfect for me. Not because I’m a bad driver because I am a good driver and I know I’ve had a really really good ride. statistically will I come across a really bad driver soon ? maybe. So for many reasons it’s worth getting a Tesla. because I don’t have eyes in the back of my head, but she does LOL.

Good app but. The Tesla App is pretty amazing but there are some pretty core features missing. Like it would be great to put your navigation into the app to determine how much power you need for an upcoming road trip, that would allow you to change the charging limit from your phone without every time having to go to the car, putting the destination in, looking at the estimated remaining power when you arrive and then changing the charging limit. Would also be great to review ‘recorded’ sentry clips or get push notifications when there is an event. I.e you park your car in a car park for a week when you go skiing and want to be alerted of anything that happens. Simply things like that

Good, but getting worse over time.. For every great feature Tesla add to their software they seem to break something else. This week the very useful function of setting the Charge Limit using KMs was removed for no apparent reason. I used this data to set my charge limit for my daily driving and check battery health every day and it has been removed? So many examples of this, I don’t understand…

Massive thanks home battery drain. It works really well, but it drains my phone battery to the point where I cannot leave it on and I must switch off background app refresh. It is always in the top spot for battery usage by app, by a long way. I’ll up this to 5 stars if Tesla can make it WAY more efficient.

Vehicle Controls for devices not setup for phone key. The lastest update has removed vehicle control and charge limit settings for devices such as an iPad that does not have the phone key setup. These controls are helpful and limit the number of phone keys which is a good security feature for your users. Could you please review and reinstate this capability.

Missing peak period. My main problem using this app to monitor my new Tesla battery (attached to a solar array) is that when I need to use it for load shifting in winter it only allows me to set one peak period per day, but there are two peaks for power pricing, one in the morning, one in the evening. Apart form that the app seems fine and gives a very clear indication of what is going on between the battery, the gird, the house and the solar array. I notice some people complain it is not accurate… I never assumed it would be extremely accurate, only that it would be close. I’ve not had it long enough to make a sensible assessment of that. Not sure I think the power company will be accurate either.

Good, but needs improvement. Love my Tesla powerwall, however find the peak/off-peak algorithms hit and miss. Wish there was better options to configure the powerwall to grid charge to 100% at times specified. I get free power between 11-3pm and I want it to charge to 100% from grid in that time - and find the only way is to manually intervene each day setting the backup reserve setting to 100%. I know there is the Netzero app to help with this… but why should I need to pay $100 per year for this when the Tesla app could include these basic settings..

Good App but a couple of improvements would make it better. Our electricity provider, and I suspect many others, charges usage rates with more than two decimal places to the right of the dollar i.e. fractions of cents so it would be useful if the Pricing within the Utility Rate Plan configuration permitted entering amounts beyond just dollars and cents. I also find it odd that the Energy graphs display charge below the x-axis i.e. negative and discharge above the x-axis i.e. positive. In my mind, charging should be positive i.e. above the x-axis and discharging should be negative i.e. below the x-axis. If this is intentional, perhaps there could be a configuration option to invert this for people like me in a similar fashion to computer games having an “invert mouse” configuration option. I also find the app is quite large, particularly for those that only have one Tesla product. It would be good if the different products were modules that were automatically downloaded and installed when adding a product type you haven’t previously added/had so the base app was smaller.

Powerwall impact percentage broken. The app had been great for me to track and manage my Powerwall but a recent update has broken the Impact percentage. Hardly any portion of my home power consumption was from the grid in this month as the solar and powerwall have been good enough. However the daily impact from the last several days has been in the 60% range or even lower. Even when I click into it nothing changes - this keeps decreasing the 2024 Yearly impact and it is impossible to figure out the real grid use unless I go into the graphs and click on grid and then see. Please fix it

Excellent app, but needs to support wall charger too. This is an outstanding app that allows one to monitor in real-time the solar power our panels are generating, what our household energy consumption is and the charge level of our Powerwall. What is now required is to integrate our Wall Charger so we can see how much energy is being sent to our Tesla EV and from which source, as well as to manage this dynamically so we maximise the consumption of out solar energy rather than sending the excess to the grid.

App is ok. Needs a few minor tweaks please. Generally the app is good. Minor features that could be improved; when calculating electricity cost, can we please add a daily fixed supply charge, ie some utility companies charge $1 per day for connection + consumption. It seems that I can only enter the electricity cost in $/kw. Second point, many electrical utility companies charges are some kind of fraction of a cent, and the app only allows me to enter whole cents for the electricity tariff. For example, my export rate is 4.9 cents per kw.h. I can only enter 5 cents in the app. Please allow fractions of a cent. New feature request! -It would be nice to be able to set alarms to notify me if my power wall’s battery gets above or below a certain %. Also if the grid export level goes above or below some adjustable level. For example, once my battery is more than 80% i may choose to start my washing machine during the day. I may also want to manually turn off some household appliances if my battery drops below some level of charge, i.e turn off my pool filter. It may be nice to control my power export to grid based on some pricing information, is there a way to automate power export based on wholesale electricity pricing? Thanks.

Lots of good things. Room to improve.. Ideas for improvement: 1. Ability to set and stop charge times when using UMC. Even better would be the ability to create multiple start and stop times (eg to take advantage of multiple off peak time periods from electricity provider) 2. Very little ability to retrospectively view data and export. (Eg to track charging costs across multiple charging types and vendors and distance driven)

Just an average all really. It gets the job done but I find how some things presented as a bit confusing or annoying. Like it is really hard for me to tell if certain things are active from the main screen for my Model Y. Also would love to be able to use the app for not only finding super chargers but seeing all the information about them. Sometimes you want to plan before you hop in the car. I’m told there are third party apps that can help with this but they all want a lot of money it seems.

Tesla Powerwall. My family purchased a Powerwall 2 battery plus a 16 panel rooftop solar system, and considering we live in the midst of a National Park in a semi rural enclave we are getting quite an amazing level of performance taking into account the massive amount of very tall trees on my property. We were very satisfied for the very short time the previous version of this app with its overlay feature which was used by all the members of our family, we currently are very very disappointed that this feature has been removed, please reinstate this feature as soon as practical.

Checking solar wakes up car. I have noticed in the last couple of app updates, every time I open the app to check solar and battery it wakes up my car. I’m sure it never did this in the past. I have had Teslas for a couple of years so this was something that was the difference to the norm for me. Apart from that o really like the app.

Good functionality but two improvement suggestions. The app has good functionality for remotely charging and adjusting some settings in my Model S. Two suggestions: 1. It would be great if you could integrate the power consumption and charge rates from my energy company so I could see the cost per charge for my car (like I can when I use a supercharger) 2. Bring back the more vibrant colours before you refreshed the app - it just looks so drab now - why did you do that?

Latest versions of the app are very buggy.. As the title says. The latest 2 versions of the app are very buggy. Missing data fields from charge stats. Missing navigation bar. Sometimes missing climate control options. I had hoped the last update would have fixed them but it hasn’t. I have rebooted the phone. I have force closed the app and restated it. No difference. Sometimes the data is there. More often than not it’s missing. Please fix this. It’s really annoying.

App not as good as others.. I’ve recently installed a 30 panel solar system with power wall 2 in Victoria Australia. The app looks good, but that’s where it ends, app only reads to nearest 100 watts, almost all other apps I’ve seen for other solar and battery companies read down to 1 watt. It would be great if the Tesla app did so as I can’t see what I’m using from the grid as most times, I’m using less than 100 watts so it doesn’t register on the Tesla app. Also no need for grafts, just need a total of usage showing to the nearest watt. Most times my app shows me drawing from the battery and putting it into the grid even when the app is set not to. Other times the battery has plenty of charge and it shows me drawing from the grid. Pretty useless app for me as I need to check with my retailer to see what I actually used. Why not just have a break down of usage to the nearest watt from grid, solar, and battery instead of percentages. Far simpler, this app is great if you love colour full grafts and lines. Look forward to some changes ahead for the better.

Good but basic - needs more features. We’ve had our Powerwall 2 and so far it’s working beyond expectations. This app is good but I really hope they update. My wish list Time setting to allow low peak grid rate to top up battery if required so it can be used later in the day. Display charge percentage on power flow chart- very clumsy to have to switch screens when it would be nice on one page More data stored as now it just today, yesterday and last week. I’d love a years data. Allow user to input electricity use age and buy back rates and tarriff times so you can see how much your power bill will be Allow user to monitor which device is being used by characterising usage graphs eg AC will have its own unique power draw graph to cooker, oven tv etc etc Why no iPad version

Settings not working since last update. I have a Powerwall and since the last update I have been unable to access settings. This is a major concern as we are in for bad weather and I can not set the amount of power I want in reserve. I do hope this is fixed sooner rather than later. Thanks Kimberly Updated App today 25th January 2022 and still no help with battery settings. I still have no control over how much energy I would like to store. This is an issue if there is storm warnings or outage alerts in my area. Do you know when this will be addressed?

Better than the competition…. I have a number of Tesla and also a Mercedes EQE. Hands down the Tesla app is far more functional (feature driven), intuitive but a huge benefit of the Tesla app is the speed, it instantly executes the command from phone to car…the competition you can go make a coffee waiting for it to complete a command.

Bring back the old version. Like everyone else here I hate the new version of the main power flow screen and the charts, which are harder to read, less functional and less informative than before. Great example of modern software engineering: change for the sake of it, and actual useful functionality ditched in favour of a ‘fresh new look’. I know what a house looks like, thanks, I don’t need a big picture of one taking up all the space where the actual useful info used to be. Wish I’d never updated. Tesla should sack the people who did this to the app and revert to the previous version.

Terrible connectivity. Have noticed with the latest iOS update 4.24.0 the connectivity between the app and the car has worsened. Previously it would work on and off intermittently, waiting a minute or so would usually fix the issue or rare occasion of force closing the app. However now since the update it doesn’t seem to want to connect at all. After I’ve parked the car there hasn’t been any connection for 7hrs, I’m able to open the door and even then the app is still unresponsive and just gives an error try again later which is unhelpful :’(

Mr Sullivan. App had been good for first year of use with Powerwall 2 but then came car charging and now backup to 100% once bar slid to 80+% reserve. I keep having to delete app & reinstall now because when ever I change backup percentage ie 70% to 40% it would start using backup to set amount straight away and same for charging from grid overnight. However, now it stays doing what it had been doing eg keeps using grid instead of using the battery amount Iv put it to. . Ie 70% changed to 40% overnight but keeps using grid and leaving 70% backup. Other times Iv changed it to have 70-80% reserve and noticed it had continued to draw from battery to a previous reserve amount Eg 30% and the weather ain’t good so that’s why I set a higher reserve before. This needs fixing! I can only give 2 stars where as before this I’d give 4.5/5.

The older version was more user friendly. Since the app changed to show a 3D image of a generic house, it’s not as simple to get daily comparisons of solar production, powerwall use, grid use, home use all on the one screen at the same time. Another annoyance is the app is significantly slower to load and show the values. And a feature that seems to be completely removed is the backup notification and history - where before it would show when the grid was down and the battery took over. It was a lot more informative. I wish I hadn’t updated the app!

Cannot enter electric rates correctly for Powerwall. When setting up our power wall we are asked to put in the information for what we pay for grid electricity and what we sell it for. The Tesla app refuses to allow us to put in a higher figure for selling solar power than for buying grid power but under the Victorian premium feed in tariff electricity we sell solar power to the grid for about twice what it costs to buy power. Please remove this unnecessary limitation from the app and allow us to enter the correct data.

Great. Does exactly what it says on the sticker, does it perfectly. They keep adding quality of life improvements, just like they do to the car. There’s a lot of reviews here with less than five stars and a request for more features. Great, Tesla seems to listen too, but at its heart this is a very fancy full featured car key, and in that respect it’s functional and amazing.

Is there a reason why we can’t schedule charging?. Please, just give us a charging schedule utility that is as good as a cheap 7-day programmable room thermostat. I want to start charging at 8 am (when the sun is up and hitting my solar panels) and stop charging at 3 pm (when peak rate electric starts). We can’t do this!! I can only assume there is some technical reason why this is not possible? I’ve tried the Tessie app…it has issues stopping charge, so I guess this is indeed a Tesla technicality that is getting in the way of acceptable scheduling utility provision.

Tesla powerwall 2 app poor second to some of the alternative solar battery providers. I have had the powerwall for several years now. Last year I installed a non Tesla solar battery system, mainly because I found Tesla lazy and inattentive to issues I approached them about. The main problem they haven’t fixed is the fact my power provider has two sessions of off peak per day 10 am-4pm and 9pm-7am. I have to choose! Living in an area with frequent overcast, my expensive investment buying Tesla is marginal, but would be a sound investment if I could program the two off peak periods per day That withstanding, I find the app itself seriously clunky, again a product of an arrogant company. The app for the second system I purchased from another company is brilliant, can be accessed easily as an app or as a web based login. The data collected is seriously accurate comparing to my provider’s invoices whereas the Tesla data is so inaccurate that it is pretty well meaningless! Given my experience I wouldn’t recommend Tesla to anyone Harry Tasmania

Almost great. No direct Powerwall 3 LAN access. Very disappointed after the fact, can’t exactly refund my Powerwall. Going cloud only is no good. The app itself has good data and is thorough, which is what I like. The user experience can be polished up a bit like, having to scroll up and down in order to see the BACK button? Why can’t there be a bunch of static buttons with an option to full screen? Yeah, scrolling screens up and down is annoying. If there were a way to submit this through another means, I would write this review.

Good App. I have just had a Powerwall 3 installed and I found the App has lots of very useful information and is easy to use and understand. I just have one recommendation and that’s with the appearance. It looks like the house is always in permanent darkness. Maybe you could change the background to white during the day then back to black in the night.

Pretty good app. Thankfully they keep improving it adding new capabilities. Does all the general things like allow map routes to be sent ahead of time to the car, improved dog mode, and the ability to pop to frunk at the game or picnic. Perhaps a few more stats on mileage and usage but it’s a fairly solid app

Does what it says, one missing feature. Sometimes need to kill and reopen the app for it to unlock my car, a little annoying. Would also like an option underneath powerwall/solar charging to prefer charging powerwall over solar charging car, at the moment the car will charge on solar before the powerwall which is not as desirable, would rather the powerwall’s smaller battery is charged first, then excess solar to charge my car, I don’t mind if my car takes a few days to get to the upper solar charge limit.

Great app, needs trip planning.. I should be able to plan my trip though the app without having to physically sit in my car. Not only will this help with predicting how long a particular trip will take (with charging in-between) but it will also allow users to better manage their charge and adjust charge limits accordingly, all without having to physically access the car. Otherwise it’s a brilliant app, works well, it’s really quick and intuitive to use.

Easy and practical to use, saves money. I have been using it for my power wall and 2x cars for about 2 years. The app improves every 6 months or so. These days, it auto-charges my car and power wall to maximise the use of solar and super off peak electricity. At the end of the day, all my devices are optimally charged at the least possible cost to me. Best of all, this is all done automatically without any major scheduling or programming at my end. All I had to do was enter my utility rates and set charging parameters. App takes care of the rest.

Can’t leave windows down with dog inside. I don’t like the way the car can pop the truck open so easily on the app or you can’t leave the windows down and leave your dog in the car - it automatically winds up the windows and does not put the aircon on, my dog nearly died as I left the car for 15m came back and our dog was suffering , the windows went up and no climate control came on, also the lock and unlock symbol- pls put writing as well as the symbol- and if Tesla don’t make a option to have hard insulated roof this will be the first and last Tesla we buy-for Australia we do t need glass roof- even with sun blind it’s too hot on 36-45c days.

Minor issues. Very useful app, and totally mesmerising when you are mindful of the cost of electricity. Just a few issues regarding the Tesla Powerwall interface. 1. I have 2 powerwalls. Is there a way to see their statistics seperately? One is new, the other 3.5 years old - would like to monitor any deterioration as they age. 2. The charge level is shown as a percentage. With multiple powerwalls, the amount of charge available is much more, but 100% tells me nothing useful. Can we please have the option to show kWhrs? 3. Monthly solar graph shows the energy captured for each day in a seperate column of the bar graph. The “day before yesterday” is *always* wrong. For example the graph shows 6.1kWhr when it was actually 29kWhr. When I look this graph again tomorrow, the correct amount will show, but the day after will be wrong. For example, readings might be 20 every day. Graph will show 20, 20, 20, 5, 20, 20 on the 5th of the month. and 20, 20, 20, 20, 5, 20, 20 on the 6th of the month. This error has been happening for several months (possibly much longer).

New Powerwall/solar graphs are not as good. I find the new graphs for solar and Powerwall are harder to understand at a glance. I thought maybe I just needed to get used to it, but several months in, I still find that I have to stare at them much longer in order to understand the data that I want to know. The old version displayed the solar, battery, grid and home usage data clearly, simply and you could easily layer them on top of each other one at a time. Now they are always layered all at once, yet I cannot see all data all at once.

Annoying Feature, Graphs Could Be Better, Generally Useful. Annoying: The latest version has “Request to connect to Bluetooth” EVERY time I use the app, which is quite a lot during each day - but I only have a Powerwall, no Bluetooth needed. The only way to stop it, is let it turn Bluetooth on - which I don’t want. The energy data is useful, but the graphs are hard to interact with. It’d be better if they could be expanded (pinch & zoom style) to see over a shorter time span and then shrunk back the default view. The app is stable and generally useful for my Powerwall needs.

Poor support. The app works but has some recent bugs with the latest update. My battery says 100% but the diagram continues endlessly to show charge going to the battery. So I thought I’d report a bug. When you go to report a problem it doesn’t give you an option to report a problem rather it asks if you want a refund, like to report a scam or report offensive or abusive material. When you click on the developer site it takes you to the main page for Tesla. How about a tab that says you’d like to report a problem, seriously!

Great App but needs an update. The app is great but some metrics are missing and some are odd. 1. No daily Supply Charge metric. Used to calculate daily supply charge when connected to grid. This is a daily charge for just being connected to the grid. It's not a usage charge but a daily fee charge by the grid distributor. 2. The export to grid arrow is pointing down and import from grid is point upwards. It should be the reversed ! 3. Billing cycle dates, allows the user to select a date when a billing cycle starts, should have an option to select monthly, quarterly (3 months ), custom days (number of days) 4. And overall all in one screen showing Total Solar Generated Total Home Use from Battery + Solar + Grid Total Home use from Battery Total Home use from Solar Total Home use from Grid Total Solar Export from Solar+ Battery Total Solar export Total Battery Export Above should have a live feed and broken down to daily, monthly yearly and custom dates.

Fantastic functionality at the cost of battery life.. The functionality and responsiveness of this app doesn’t even compare to other car manufacturers, this is in a league of it’s own. However, it chews through 25-30% of my battery per day in “background use” which is insane. The app developers really need to take a look at what’s causing this or at the very least explain why the usage is so high. I.E if the Bluetooth key functionality is the culprit then warn users when enabling the feature.

Good but needs more. Am using it with a non-Tesla vehicle for the wall charger only. The app needs to be capable of setting more than one schedule for charging. My electricity provider has three different tarrifs, including a relatively short one when charging is free. You can enter that detail into the utility rate plan (although you can't enter $0.0c) under settings but it isn't reflected in the charging schedule. Also if you have input the utility rates it should calcate the cost as part of the charge history data.

Lost profiles-known issue for highland models. Lost profiles. Contacted Tesla and they said it’s a world wide problems and making its way to Australia. They said next update may potentially fix this. Very disappointed considering the cost of vehicle and everything was fine until over the air update. Vehicle is highland. Also be aware when purchasing Tesla and don’t expect for it to self drive like in the US. They have disabled most features for Australia. When purchased they salesman said, what you see on the net is what you get. Also insurance is issue and very costly unless you go through Zurich. Kilometres is no where near the advertised(much lower).

Power wall controls bad. I love my power walls (I have 2 expansion packs). The issue is the app doesn’t allow me to customize things enough so what ends up happening is despite there being battery left it doesn’t discharge, it draws from the grid. The only way to force it to discharge is to manually switch it to Self Powered, but then I need to manually switch it back to Time Based Control to ensure it pulls from the grid and recharges when I get free electricity. Given I’ve entered power pricing it should be smart enough to discharge fully in that lead up to the free power window, but it’s not.

Storm mode needs a manual override. I quite like the app and it’s features but there are a couple of things that need improvement and adding. 1) Storm mode needs a manual override so that powerwall owners can grid charge their battery at will even IF the app hasn’t detected a storm alert in the area. 2) in conjunction with the above, the powerwall also needs a function where the user can stop it discharging ie. force grid power only when it is available. This would allow users to users to keep the battery capacity “saved” for later regardless of storm alerts etc. 3) The utility tariff setting function needs to allow setting down to a specific day rather than just a month for start and finish of seasons. Ie. Australian summer time daylight saving starts “on the first Sunday of October” and ends “in the past Sunday of April”. This means the peak/off-peak settings can be wrong by an hour for as much as a week at each end of the season. I have had to create two extra seasons for April and October only that have wider than necessary peak settings so that the system doesn’t draw from the grid erroneously at peak times. 4) It would be nice to have a “solar only” mode for vehicle charging. Ie. regardless of what else is going on, the vehicle is only charged by free excess solar power. At other times it just waits. 5) Naturally these changes would come with applicable alerts and possibly even timers/overrides. Eg. Forcing grid power during certain circumstances is a bad idea and/or wouldn’t work. I hope these ideas are of interest and come to fruition. Thanks

Scheduled Charging Bug. The scheduled charging feature in the latest version of this app forces charging to commence at 12:00am. Any other time is not permitted. Also there is no ability to report bugs like this on either the Tesla website or this app. I hope that over time this app will be improved to include the ability to access to most of the car settings and information from this app, rather than having to get into the car (eg set car wash mode, view sentry events, check tyre pressures etc).

Needs improvement. I wish you could see if windows are down. I also love to activate the heated seat, steering wheel, side mirrors from the app.

Health device Y. Excellent mobility device. It’s getting me better everyday…

Useful. Had my Tesla since 2019 and this is part of my entire EV experience. Constantly using it to preheat, set up charges and even remotely open my doors.

Movie 67. Best

Model Y. Love my new model Y and the app is incredible

Climate controls missing. I haven’t been able to adjust climate controls from the app. All I see if the top half for the heated seats and steering wheel. It the bottom half for temperature is missing. iPhone XS, 2023 model Y.

Amazing. I love this app

4.57.5 won’t update.. Note latest version of app doesn’t want to update. Many people experience this problem on Facebook and Reddit. - Regularly my car doesn’t recognise I have my phone to open doors until I unlock my phone - Need precondition only button. In cold weather in busy line up to supercharging stalls by the time I got to charge my preconditioning was cold giving me slow/longer charging times. - Please add app feature to set reminders when I forget to plug my car at night at home. Happened to me many times causing a stressful morning. - Apple Watch support with Siri would be great so I don't have to take my phone out to open frunk etc. including haptic notifications for map directions when driving, this is such a great feature with Apple Maps. - Please let the app notify me when I forget to plug it in overnight.

App just crashes now. Just freezes and needs to be restarted regularly now

Charge Percentage. Why can’t the charge percentage be something you manually type in to get a more accurate power supply, rather than a slider?

Does it all. This car and this app do it all. What more can I ask for? I’m living in the future right now with a Tesla. Thank you Elon.

Referring program. Why can’t I get rid off referring program???

Climate temp and ON/OFF options missing. After recent update, climate setting in app is missing temperature selection and ON/OFF buttons.

Keep asking update. The update was released two days ago, I updated and later on the system showed there’s an update with the same version. Then I did update again and again. It looks like it already been updated. Then the same update shows again. I have rebooted my phone but it doesn’t work. Please fix it.

Premium connectivity. Live cam shows error even though i subscribed for premium connectivity

Great app but version v4.57.0-4306 is buggy. The Schedules are not synced properly. Cannot delete the weird ones showing up initially, he only option is to add more schedules using the plus signs, which is not what I wanted to do. After I added the correct ones back, they showed in duplicate, and an option to delete one of them was available. This happened both with charging and preconditioning.

Error. Server error

Qadr spooner. Tesla’s response system is very fast. The Tesla application is one of the most up-to-date vehicle management platforms available. It allows live video monitoring of your car’s cameras and enables you to monitor the vehicle remotely at any time. The system also sends immediate notifications regarding any activity or changes related to the vehicle, allowing the owner to respond quickly if something occurs.

Generate Virtual NFC Card in Apple Wallet. The BLE keyless entry suffers occasional malfunction. It will be painful if your car is parked in an enclosed structure where most signals are attenuated.

Tesla is the best.. I have a Tesla they are expensive but the best and Tesla’s are good for the environment.

Add support for Apple Watch. It would be great if we could use our Apple Watch as a key. There are lots of 3rd party apps for that but that’s super sketchy and insecure. If my phone’s battery is dead, my watch would be a great fallback key.

5 star. Amazing app. Love it. Easy to navigate.

Define charging limit per scheduled locations and calendar days. It would be great to be able to plan in advance the target charging level based on the different days and locations available in the Planning Charging Schedule option. Example: Home: Monday to Thursday -> 90%; Friday 100%; Work: Monday to Friday -> 80%

Awe. i will own a Tesla for a long as they make cars. Nothing in the world compares. 2021 model 3 fsd 12.6. I can only imagine what 14 lyte is like. My next car 2027 Telsa.

Free SC KM wiped out. The latest app update wiped out all of my free supercharging KM. 2 weeks later and this issue still hasn’t been fixed. Was charged for all of my SC sessions during a road trip when they should have been free. Extremely disappointed. Be VERY CAREFUL when you update the mobile app!!

More controls would be great. Would love maximum control of the settings through the app. That would be great. More charging scheduling control such as having the car timed best as possible for x% by a certain time (understanding charging variances may not allow a perfect timing).

app stuck in update request loop. I’ve seemingly updated in 20 times in the last 3 days but it doesnt seem to be registering the recently released update, upon a refresh it just says update again, occurs on all my devices with the Tesla app so unsure what the cause may be, restarting or deleting the app doesn’t seem to help

Écran d’accueil. Pourquoi n’est-il pas possible de modifier l’écran de l’application Tesla pour Apple Watch

Vehicle Connection Error. Multibillions of dollars available to hire thousands of the best programmers in the world, then dropping the ball by demonstrating an inability to solve a seemingly low-level problem (having a phone app reliably connect to a vehicle). Not sure how this was even allowed to become an issue! Vehicle is amazing though!!

Scheduled Charging Issue. I set a scheduled charging for my off peak time (Mon-Fri: 7PM-7AM) and a Mid Peak time (Mon-Fri: 9AM-5PM). Charging works perfectly during Mon-Fri. But when Sat-Sun rolls around it doesnt charge as intended. It will say next scheduled charge is Monday 11AM. Please fix this

Remote Wiper Service Mode. Hard to make it better! but…. Would be great if the Tesla app let you park wipers in service mode remotely—even after the car’s locked. No more rushing out in the snow when you forget! @Tesla #FeatureRequest

Several issues. First, my account was set to the US (somehow) instead of Canada and had to update on the web browser. Could not be done in the app. Also, even thought when adding a credit card you set the billing address, made no difference. Another VERY annoying thing: it added Tesla as an available car to unlock. I don’t have a Tesla. Why? No way to stop the app from doing this. Please fix.

Tesla is the best. App always works. Updates are incredible. Tesla is the best.

Tesla Motors. I can’t believe I waited so long to get a Tesla. Simply the best and the app is great always.

The best app, period.. Hands down the best app on my phone. Super easy to use, everything is right where you need it, and it just works. Controlling my Tesla has never been smoother — from climate to charging to locking the car, it’s all effortless. Once you use it, you won’t know how you lived without it. THE BEST

Always updating :). Absolutely love this app. Not just because it runs my car but also because it is always updating and giving new options. Thanks Elon lol

Tesla App. It is an amazing app. We can do many very useful functions remotely. Dog mode with cabin camera just an example. Seeing is believing. Over the air updates…..

Misleading information. I’m disappointed with my experience with Vaughan Tesla. I was given information by their sales team that later turned out to be incorrect, which affected my decision and caused inconvenience. I relied on the details provided, but unfortunately the reality was different. I hope Vaughan Tesla improves the accuracy of the information given to customers so others don’t experience the same issue. Clear and honest communication is very important when making major purchases like this.

car key always disconnects. Elon Musk, can you fix this car key disconnect issue? It’s really causing a lot of trouble for car owners. How can your company call itself a tech giant like this?

Climate fails to turn on. Climate fails to turn on with one click, after multiple tries it finally works. Please fix this.

Kind of cool. It’s a good start but not there yet. We also need a Apple Watch app

Could be better. It’s so secure, I as an owner cannot sign on via the app despite Face ID, code via mail and attempts with a helpline that relies on a computer. I can sign in on my iMac but can’t access my product.

NEEDED - One cold weather tweak. It take 5-10x longer to heat the batteries than it does to heat the cabin. There should be a “Pre-condition Batteries Only” feature, that a user could activate, well in advance of using the vehicle. Then the first 15-20 minutes wouldn’t be spent driving with significantly reduced power/re-gen.

App. Not working today

I owned three Teslas I live in North Oshawa. There is absolutely no Tesla chargers it’s not acceptab. Now we’re thinking the 407 because it’s free. And I have two charge home is not enough the truck take forever to charge. And most of the third-party charger are not working. It’s absolutely not convenient big city like Oshua was a couple of hundred thousand people not a single charge on the north end

App update removed widget. The newest update had a blank, white widget. Nothing could be seen or controlled until you open the app...must ensure you have the most current phone update to run it properly. Since the iphone update was recent, it should not prevent the widget from functioning. Developers of this app need to ensure functionality works with the most current and previous iOS version when updating their app.

Glitchy app and updates which break it frequently. Everything was fine then the universal adapter wouldn’t release from the wall charger or the adapter would fall off the NACS wand (a firmware update fixed that). Then it glitched and now the Universal Wall Charger is “not found”. Even though it worked fine last week. I just find their tech is glitchy with something nearly always wrong. Makes me worried if I ever purchased one of their cars. I use the Tesla universal wall charger with my Mustang Mach-E and I have to say that Ford tech seems more reliable than Tesla.

New bugs. Climate control bug is fixed. But the supercharger rate/information and send to car portion is now missing. Only seem to work if I completely close the app and reopen.

The interior design is terrible.. The interior design is terrible.

Can’t beat it. Hands down best app for a car

Downgrade especially with regards to charging. Previous app was easy to use with a clear indication of nearby chargers and battery charge level. Now the charging level is not easy to see and only a limited number of nearby charging locations are shown on the map. I rarely use the frunk so having it on the main screen is not needed and I am slightly concerned that I may open it inadvertently (although the app asks for confirmation). I do like the indication of charging rate but that could have been added to the existing charging function. It also seems to take ages for the app to pair with my car even when I at home. As mentioned by another reviewer the app looks dull. I suppose I’ll get used to it but this is the first time I’ve been underwhelmed by something associated with my model 3. If I had the option to revert to the previous software version I would.

Need more work. The app is good but I feel like more can be added. 1) allow more widgets on the homepage if the Tesla, currently its only limited to 4. 2) allow main users to allow certain features for certain drives. 3) allow users to have the unlatch more features added to the controls section in the app. 4) sometimes their is consistent lag in the apps, especially when trying to check real time psi, climate controls for heated seats and steering wheel sometimes doesn’t show that it’s on when you click on it, but does a feel seconds later, the lag is annoying. 5) have a easy to find button to allow precondition of battery before home charging, in the app and in the car. 6) show estimate cost faster for common service appointment problems. 7) THE APP JUST LOOKS BLAND, ADD SOME LIFE TO IT.

Doesn’t work with iPadOS. Despite the information here on the compatibility, this app does not work with my iPad. It would be nice to have an actual iPad app to use, just in case my -home is not available. I do use this app daily. Tesla keeps updating and adding new features. A few features would be nice to have, first the ability to set the level for charging from the app, not just the limit and ability to start and stop charging. Viewing the most recent air pressure for the car would be great as well, instead of having to show it by switching it on the display. Showing the percentage of charge as well as the rated or ideal miles would be helpful. I've thought of a lot of features that could easily be implemented in the app, but are not.

Love the app!. In the world we live in today, who doesn’t love having the control of everything right at your finger tips? Love that I can use the app to control the garage door as well, it saves from having to install a wireless connection for it and use a different app for that feature, so it’s awesome that you can do that. What I would like to see is the option to add or remove the widgets on the main screen, right now it has the A/C, frunk, and locking widget. Being able to add the trunk as an option, or turn on sentry mode since it’s not a default, or the garage control, would be an awesome update. Also I want to be able to access the additional camera views, after all, I did just spend over 50k on the car, you’d think I be able to use fully what I purchased

One star until you stop pestering me when I close the app. This app gets one star until you stop pestering me about closing the app. I’m not leaving it open at all times and you don’t need a reason why. What you need is to stop bothering me with a notification every time I close the app. Since you’ve abused your right to notify me I’ve revoked your permission, which means you’ve robbed me of notifications that may be more crucial and important all because you are trying to pester me into using my phone a way I don’t want to. The desperate measures you’ve taken with spamming me to leave your app open means there are serious business goals / wants driving your behavior. If someone closes the app every single time it’s obvious they don’t want to leave it open. Yet you persist. This means your business is desperate to track me 24/7. Why? Also stop begging to get on my home wifi network it’s another thing that will never happen. Also the privacy policy for your cabin camera is vague and unclear misleading wording of “your cabin camera is not linked to your VIN.” - okay it’s not linked to my vin- but what about my Tesla account? You may not be lying that it’s not directly linked to my vin, but you telling me their is no way to discover the identity of someone on a cabin camera? If that was the case you would spell it out. Instead you use careful word smithing to mislead consumers. I’m embarrassed for you. Get some morals.

Clean it up…. I have always loved the Tesla APP for the functionality and access to the car and we have been a Tesla owner for a long time. After suggesting the ability to see the car cameras remotely, they added that feature about a year ago and continually improve the APP features just as they do the cars software… But this ridiculous new “Refer and Earn” banner that is on the main screen has to go!! It is taking valuable screen space and you can’t get rid of it even after opening the item. Any owner know about referrals and the toy box, so please get rid of the annoying “in your face” banner. I will certainly give back my 5-star rating to the APP once you get back to the basics and get rid of the advertisements that are cluttering up the user interface screen!!

Ok, but not amazing. A lot of the conscience features of using your phone remotely to control your car are snubbed by a bug where my car will not update in the app. I will open the Tesla app and it shows my car from 3-4 hours when I parked. It will spin and try and update. I cannot input climate controls or do anything of the sort. I know the car is in sleep mode, but this will be stuck in the limbo update for 3-5 minutes. That’s not convenient and not the same story I hear from other Tesla users. I’ve been told their experience is near-instant connection. I’m assuming this is a bug because I can go to my phone settings and disable Bluetooth (not disconnect and leave the radio on, fully turn it off) and I come back to the app and it works instantly. Seems like there’s a hang up with the always allow Bluetooth and the connection to the car.

Improper financial transactions. So in the process of purchasing a new car. Most irritating part is the estimated delivery date is a complete joke. Arguably note the apps fault but it’s still reporting unreliable data. Got to the step of providing payment after providing info for a bank loan. They had an old account listed in there so I re-logged in with plaid to add a current account. Then realized the number on the financing was too high. So I go back to the financing step and change it to the correct value. Get to the ACH pay screen and it’s now just listed as paid. No confirmation of the amount I wanted to pay. Doesn’t even tell me what account it was drawn from. Text Tesla and they say it appears to have been paid. So I guess we’ll find out in a few days if they pulled the money from the new current account or the old account. With an amount I never explicitly agreed to pay.

Photovoltaic (Home Solar)Tracking Feature is pure Garbage. I would expect more from a leading company in the area of transportation, energy storage & solar power generation. App’s Photovoltaic System (Home Solar Power) tracking is very poorly designed and offers only the very minimal tracking capabilities, only showing system output in 15 minute increments and daily power production. Horrible/Ugly/Plain/Lackluster App Design: 2-tone color scheme (gold & black) that leave a whole lot to be desired. No features to troubleshoot system issues or see instantaneous power production, does not give you an option to drill down to view individual panel output static’s (output per each individual panel). Absolutely NO options for setting up automated alerts for system issues or panel malfunctions. Would be nice to be able to go to a specific date two or three years in the past rather then having to tap the app day by day, if you wanted to go to a single day 1-year in the past you would effectively have to tap the back button 365 times!?! Does allow you to select specific days within a week to view daily output stats, you have to cumbersomely go back out to day selection and locate the day you want again scrolling back one day at a time. Definitely expected A WHOLE LOT more from an industry leader in energy & transportation. 👎🏼Extremely Disappointing to Say the Least 👎🏼

I don’t like this new version. I use the app solely for solar and power walls and the previous version was more useful. I could see a graph that overlaid home use, solar generation, power wall charging/discharging, and grid consumption/feed at the same time. Now I can only get a few per graph and it tries to be cute and give me net power instead of individual power info in reports. What I mean by that is I used to be able to see power pulled from grid and power fed to grid separately, now, it sums the two and spits out the result but that’s not helpful for understanding if there is a problem somewhere. I used to download the reports and import them into my own excel file to track in comparison with PG&E and now I have to manually enter three rows of data for each day because they switched the reports to net instead of gross. The Home Screen graphic is now busy and hard to read—if the app developers read this, please revert to previous version.

I love this app and my Tesla. This app allows me to enjoy my Tesla even more, the ability to remotely check on my Tesla and communicate with it is unlike no other vehicle I have ever owned. For this reason I will never not own a Tesla! App developers, of course there are always ways to improve this app over the years!! I have now changed my 3 stars to five starts from only one year ago. Thanks you so much for the additional improvements to this app! I really really wanted to be able to adjust the charge rate from the app and now we can because of the awesome app developers!! Even better would be a history of your previous battery charges and kWh amounts! You all are truly bettering peoples lives and creating new happiness! Thank you all and Elon! : )

Feedback. The app is well designed and full of functionality, but there are small details that could improve experience. 1. Option to disable permanently Sentry mode from the app does not work. Tesla support said it's not a bug, but how it works. To save customer support time Tesla please explain this in the app or just provide a permanent way to do this from the app. 2. Apple Watch support is missing. 3. Shop Tesla should provide an option to filter items by model year. 4. Please provide a way to set a stop charge time. Please provide a way to schedule departure or charging by weekday, weekends and custom.5. Service app does not have automatic refresh. Each time I get a message from support I have to exit the chat and enter it again. Also pictures are not expanding and there is no way to download them.

Can't find Purchase button in shopping cart?. I have bought acessories through the Tesla app before but recent versions I cannot locate a button for purchasing what's in the shopping cart? Signing back into the account does nothing to correct the issue. All I see in the Shopping cart is an "Add Address" button even though valid info is there. All choices put me into a circular loop unable to find a BUY button. Where have you put the freakin purchase button? Come on Tesla you are better than this. Previous versions of the app were better. I also can find no categories in support that allow contacting support via text about this issue just links to the generic website about what the app does. Thus I am leaving this info here for all to see. I have had to go into their website shopping site to purchase things and not through the app.

Life Changing. The Tesla app is an essential companion for Tesla vehicle owners, offering remote control and monitoring capabilities. Strengths 1. Comprehensive vehicle control 2. Seamless energy product integration 3. Real-time updates and monitoring 4. Remote software updates Overall, the Tesla app is a well-designed, feature-rich application that plays a crucial role in the Tesla ecosystem, offering convenience and control at users' fingertips.

Charge on solar is buggy. The charge on solar feature for powerwall+EV customers is pretty buggy. It happily charges under net metering at times that are more expensive than night time, even when the powerwall is set to time of use mode. (There are times on the weekends when charging during the day would be preferable.) The powerwall electricity use stats often reflect a lot of missing data on the app for car charging under charge on solar. The graph is particularly spotty. When the car charges on solar, it reports it draws 11 kW even though my panels never produce more than 8 kW. So, apparently we are pulling from the grid, not just charging from solar. As it is, this looks to be an unfeature that has me charging from the grid during partial peak or prime time, and will be turned off for a few months until the software improves. I expect by then solar production will have dropped enough that I no longer have extra power for the car. This might be worth it if you live in some place where the grid doesn’t pay you back for electricity sent there. As it is, for the rest of us, it seems likely to just drive costs up. Not helpful.

Overestimates savings based on gas cost. Until this app lets you manually set the average cost of gas for your area, this app will consistently overestimate your savings which is a huge disappointment. Look, I know Tesla wants everyone to think they are saving money by charging vs using gas, and In general it’s true. But until you give the user the ability to manually change these assumptions, you are making yourself look more like a marketing company by pushing false claims. Your current fuel cost for Florida is using $4.25 per gallon as the assumption. There is no place in the Orlando area that I have found which is that high. The average fuel cost of all the stations that I historically use is currently $3.79 per gallon. That’s a big miss Tesla. So these numbers you force me to look at at false. Why not allow the user to set their own estimate? The only possible answer is you want to skew the data.

Horrible App!. Tesla app tracks your driving and if you own one you know what I am talking about. My insurance goes up every month because just about when the insurance premium comes due , all of a sudden it triggers an event like forward collision warning or following too close or sharp turns when I am doing none of those it records. Something foul is happening that forces this trigger and for us to pay more for Tesla auto insurance. I have reached out to Tesla and they keep telling me I have to contact the Tesla insurance but when I do they send me right back and blame it on software. It appears like something both need to answer to publicly and legally. If you are. Tesla owner and have experienced this please keep sending messages through the Tesla app and flood the Tesla insurance with non stop calls to fix this! I am frustrated and so should you be! This app may have a glitch in it who knows but it needs to be resolved before legal counsel is sought after!

Constantly Improving!. I woke up to a power outage this morning after a wind advisory. Nothing unusual there but Tesla did not trigger a storm watch so my batteries were drained. Three days later and it looks like storm watch is now triggering on today’s wind advisory. Great work on the quick resolution! Thank you Tesla. Tesla solar and power wall are a great solution in high cost power areas with unstable grids. Update: the above problem seems to be resolved. I would like to see Tesla manage the power wall to minimize time in a discharged state as well as power cost. For example during high power cost times it will drain the battery as soon as possible rather than draining at the last possible moment for the same benefit. This would maximize backup since there is less time in the day that the batteries are in a discharged state.

4.0 update needs work. There are some nice new features in the 4.0 update, and the overall look and feel is a good improvement. Love that the phone key works with all cars without having to switch to each car. But… the Solar/Powerwall changes need some work. The redesigned power flow visualization is not as simple or clear as in 3.x, with some very small fonts that use gray on black text that is difficult to read. Please bring back a simpler design with the numbers in a + pattern! The graphing feature also has some design choices that make this harder to use and read, for example the vertical axis now takes up nearly 25% of the screen width, giving less room for the graph and the icons to switch source are much smaller touch targets. The ability to combine multiple sources in the graph was removed — making it harder to do comparisons. Don’t sizes are very small and hard to read. Please fix and refine this design!

What can be better. Widgets dont update often Example: the small widget for the Lock Screen that shows the battery percentage/milage is showing an inaccurate percentage. When the alarm is triggered. The phone remain silent. It would be better if it makes the same alarm sound on centry mode. Or at least a laud sound. Example if car is being towed which happen to me twice I continued sleeping and I could avoid that towing. The app is kind of slow on security features “MAKE HEY SIRI FUNCTIONS WORK BETTER” This is huge. 99% of time hey siri functions requieres you to do it manually on the phone. Witch makes no sense Things that we really need with Heysiri -Hey siri unlock Tesla -Hey siri unlock Tesla trunk -Hey siri defrost Tesla -hey siri turn on Tesla Ac -hey siri unlatch door (perfect for when phone gets stock in the car and won’t connect with Bluetooth. Nothing for Apple Watch? Had to buy a third party. But basically on Apple Watch would need Hey siri, location battery

Missing buttons and functionality. This app seems to have been forgotten. In attempting to submit a service request, I provided details and clicked next, entered my address, which “current address” had wrong as our neighbor’s house. Clicked to edit address, but once corrected, there are only Back and Close icons. Clicking Back (arrow) reverts to previous value, clicking Close (x ), takes you out of the service request and you have to start again. Also, when trying to troubleshoot the error I was having by opening the troubleshooting section, I tried to search for our error using “authentication” in the search bar. There is no submit button to activate search, only an X, presumably to cancel the search. After being forced to scroll endlessly and search or my issue in a randomly organized list,I was disappointed to find it wasn’t there.

animation on opening screen cripples the app. The latest update is poorly executed. Upon opening the app a ridiculous animation wherein the system view zooms out to show relevant data, powerwall, solar and house energy flow, takes 30 seconds to execute before the actual data can be used. The animation is not helpful, but instead it requires the user to wait 30 seconds before the desired information can be viewed. Why on earth would anyone think this is a good idea? Please revert and remove this new useless feature or provide a way to turn the animation off. The entire purpose of the app is to provide important infomation, quickly. Nobody has any desire to marvel at the animation EVERY SINGLE TIME the app is opened. Get rid of the animation ASAP. Also, more streamlined data export — i.e. export all history all data columns available with minimal clicks would be helpful. Thank you.

And can we also add a super summon feature. Summoning the car safely where you are located within a 15-mile radius. And going back to the live sentry mode, and any of the other remote features for that matter (flashing light, honk, start, etc.). I think the issue is dealing with low signal environment. In a good signal, live sentry mode works, but once these remote features start to encounter poor signal, the video stream starts to lag and starts having connection issues and if it’s a consistent poor signal that’s when you see these error messages. The app should be able to work in poor signal environments, and it has to work properly all the time if the user is subscribed to premium connectivity.

This app redesign feels like Craigslist!. Come on Tesla design team… How did the new app pass the sniff test? It instantly feels like cheap quality just visually. If you expect me to be ok with any of the potential “feature upgrades” it has, you might want to rethink throwing out what was a very refined rich feeling app and replacing it with a trashy looking app that feels like you just entered Craigslist. The only reason I have given 1 star is because it won’t let me put zero stars. Big big mistake in my opinion. I’d love to know what was broken about the look of the old app because it sure as heck has not been fixed! Do not under estimate how big of a role user interface aesthetics (and consistency as far as I’m concerned) impact the ownership experience. With two cybertrucks on order plus a Rivian, you better hope that Rivian doesn’t one up you in this area! Please please - maybe it’s time for a new department head. The design is unacceptable to me.

PowerWall2 + 9.0 Model S Update. Update!!! The Tesla team has done it again!!! They had tweaked the recent update and now I have Zero complains!! AWESOMENESS!!! Keep it up Tesla Team! Love the car, love the whole idea behind Tesla, but this recent update 🤦🏻‍♂️ OMG!!! It’s OK, minus losing the ability to have the rear view camera and let’s say ... the radio on on my screen like I usually do. Me and my wife ABSOLUTELY dislike that the map occupies the entire screen and that we’ve lost the customization option to have the screen a certain way while we drive. And the camera only stays at the bottom!!! Please fix this! Another thing.... Where is the option to add my PowerWall2 on the app? <--- I’ve had mine for almost 2years and still nothing. I've had my PowerWall2 installed on April 27th 2017 and until today my battery has been useless, I have not been able to use my battery's energy at night as it was intended and designed to do. I've called Tesla (Battery dept) and they keep telling me "we still don't know when you'll be able to use it". So my battery is hanging on my wall just for show now and it has for almost 2 years!!!

Missing elements. I am using this app for my new model y. For some reason, Summon is no longer available. It is discussed in the user manual and evidently was on home page. Also, upon notifying me of an open window and prompting me to select close window, it notifies me that that option is not available. Also, it is not clear what time parameters are for preconditioning. If I set departure for 9:AM, will it begin reconditioning before that time and if so, how long before. There is also no notification when preconditioning is complete. So, if I want my battery set up for speedy charging, what time should I set departure? I am a condo owner who will be routinely using superchargers located so close to me that battery reconditioning is still active when I arrive at the charger, insuring that it will take longer than it should. For my situation it would be much more desirable to be able to remotely start preconditioning with this app.

App Works Erratically for No Reason. The app goes weird sometimes. It will show electric production in Keyes but no graphs below showing how much power produced across the day. Then, it will show the graph but no power production number. Again, it will show nothing - no production number and no graph. Finally, these results switch around when I open the app again later. Days that showed power and no graph have that reversed. Days that showed both now show nothing. Have both logged out/shut app down/logged back in and deleted the app, reinstalled it and signed in, both approaches to no avail. Same situations present themselves. You would think a tech company y that prides itself on its technology could design an app that actually works consistently the way it should.

Dislike this brand more and more. I regret buying into this brand years ago and everything is more expensive. Insurance, car, mobile charging is barely cheaper than gas and takes longer, range horrid for summer trips so forget that. Not so much about the app but the overall. Avoid if you’re considering. Also, full self driving tries to slam brakes on at night time, passenger seat is miserable with no lumbar for my other half, she hates it in the MY performance, removing radar makes the car skiddish since it’s all vision based, and parking by cameras is a joke. Let alone if it’s raining. I like the idea of EV, but the customer service and insurance are just so so bad I cannot wait till buy back or when it makes sense to switch. But till then it feels appropriate to help others to steer them away from this brand that is focused on feature removal in the name of cost so you get an expensive “cheap” vehicle.

BEWARE of SOLAR. First I want to say I am a huge Tesla fan but this experience with Tesla solar has been terrible and I would not recommend. It’s not worth the headaches or the money. Shading billing practices and hidden fees have cost me thousands. My quote for solar noted free installation but the night before install Tesla slid in a 3k line for installation into the final bill without telling me. The way they present bills is confusing and I did not realize it had been added. They will not return my calls or emails asking for clarification on why I was added to the final bill. Tesla came out to my house two times to decide on a location for the powerwalls but during install they decided to put them somewhere else which I had not agreed to. What I learned was that Tesla does what they want and they do not want any input from the homeowner. Tesla also broke my gutters with their ladders but they will not return my calls to fix them. In their eyes the job is done. In short, communication is non existent and they take weeks to reply to any question if they even reply at all. I expect more from from a premium solar company especially with the cost. They get back to you when they feel like it. They are out to get as many jobs done as possible and they don’t care how they are done. My project was supposed to take 3-4 months and it took over 8 months to complete. I expected a lot more from Tesla and this has left a really bad taste in my mouth. BEWARE!

12V Battery Status Monitoring. I’ve had to replace this vital battery twice (it’s the one that they don’t tell you about when looking to buy, has a relatively short lifespan, and one you can ruin without being aware of it, and it’s located in the frunk under a plastic panel forward of the wipers), once under warranty and once for several hundred $, each time requiring a tow and service time. I am astounded that there is no active indicator on the in car screen or on the app to clue you in to an imminent sudden battery failure that may disable your vehicle completely without an explicit well-in-advance pre-warning. There should also be warnings to prevent drivers from unwittingly doing things that could prematurely drain the 12V battery. Seems like a blind spot in the notifications and owner education department.

App will not heat or cool your car!. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS OR PASSENGERS IN THE CAR WITH THE “CLIMATE KEEPER” OR DOG MODE ON! I set my car to maintain a temperature of 60 degrees using the car’s touchscreen. When I was about ten minutes away from getting back into the car, I upped the temperature to 68 degrees and made sure the seat and steering wheel were heating up. When I got into the car, the interior was 66, according to the touchscreen, which indicates to me that the car might have been heating up to 68. The steering wheel and seat were ice cold, so they were not warming up. When I started to drive, the temperature was mysteriously set back to 60, as I had set it for climate keeper, not when I had most recently set it to 68 via the app. The car is not obeying what I set in the app, no matter when I try to preheat it, and hasn’t followed what I set in the app for heating (car, steering wheel, seat) since the past few software updates. Give me back the functionality I thought I was getting when I bought this car!

Currency in Charge Stats. Currently, the currency displayed in Charge Stats is based on the language and country settings of the user's phone. While this is generally convenient, it can be confusing for users who prefer a different currency format. I recommend adding an option in the Tesla app settings that allows users to manually select their preferred currency for the charge stats display. This enhancement would provide greater flexibility and ensure that users see the currency they are most comfortable with, independent of their phone's settings. Thank you for considering this suggestion. I believe it would improve the user experience and make the Tesla app even more user-friendly.

Please fix the Navigation. Ever since the new update I haven’t been able to access the navigation in the app. I use to be able to plan a trip the night before and send to my car - was so convenient to get into my car and my route was ready. Now the only thing the app shows is the current location of my car. Please fix this!! I also have been experiencing the car not recognizing/unpairing my phone - this is a problem especially while driving. Luckily I also have my key close by in my wallet so it can be quickly rectified. But let’s just say it’s a bit stressful when this happens. Please fix these glitches!! The app use to work so much better before this last update (not sure if it’s the app or the recent Tesla car update - seemed to coincide together).

App shows Phone Key Disconnected. This is a constant issue that I’ve been experiencing. In fact, I took Delivery of my Model 3 on April 24, 2018 and while doing so they couldn’t get my phone to work with the car. They told me that I may have to drive my car and it will, at some point, begin working. This is far from the truth. The issue is that the app at some point drops communication with the car. If I understand correctly this communication is done by Bluetooth. The only way the app is able to reestablish connection with the car is by rebooting your iPhone. Taking this action has worked consistently. This option, while some may think is easy, is not a good a good option. For one thing, if you have an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus, restarting the iPhone takes a few steps. You have to hit Volume Up, Volume Down, Press and Hold Sleep/Wake button. Please fix this!

Needs some UI fixes. I use the app on my iPhone 12 with iOS 15.3.1, Tesla App version 4.6.1. There are some alignment issues in the Location tab when displayed in zoom mode that cuts off the supercharger location data and is too the far right. Additionally under the schedule tab, the off peak end time is too far to the right of the screen, also in zoomed mode, cutting half the visible time off. The Tidal app in the car does not a allow a user to shuffle songs in customer made playlists like the Tidal phone app does. A fix for that would be nice. I would have provided feedback via some other way but have not found a customer App or product feedback contact anywhere where owner can provide constructive feedback on App or vehicle issues.

No indication that we’re running on backup power!. When I purchased our Powerwall I specifically asked whether there was a way to be informed when our utility power failed and we were running off the Powerwall. I was told the app could be set up to send a text message/email when utility power was interrupted. Now our Powerwall is installed, I discover that this alert system has been removed “because there were problems with it”. I live in a remote rural area with no other dwellings in sight. With no indication that utility power has failed I have no way of knowing that I should reduce my power consumption when this occurs. So I rapidly deplete my Powerwall whenever there’s a power outage! Yes, the app indicates when the power has failed, but I can’t keep my eyes glued to the app all the time to see if the utility power is off! With a text and/or email alert, I’d be able to turn off my water heater and other high-power consuming devices and just run essential devices for days. Instead, my Powerwall is exhausted in a few hours! This is simply not acceptable, and not what I was told would be the case when I purchased the unit. All you smart Tesla engineers, please make it a high priority to fix this essential need for your otherwise cool product/service. If you can land two Falcon Heavyset simultaneously, you can fix this! Until you do, my Powerwall is of minimal use. Please help.

Last scene issues. Every time I stay home and the other phone app leaves to go out of town. Neither phone is able to see last seen . on both of our phones on the app, Shows, 6 hours since we last seen the vehicle. And this is the second time when the car has gone out of town I am unable to see last seen now I’m up to 20 hours and the other phone is unable to see last seen issues and they are in the car. The car is out of town and the person in the car plug the car in to be charged and didn’t plug it in all the way I got a notification but the person in the car didn’t get the notification . and this is the second time this is happened whenOne person goes out of town with the car in the other stays at home road trip.

Frustrating. My main complaint is with the solar. Specifically the power wall. Let there be an option to FOCUS charging the battery before sending back to the grid. There have been too many days where it has more than enough time and solar to charge but it just chooses to full send all extra to the grid when the battery is at 60%. I get that the battery might be a bit warm (which I wish it told me why it’s not charging or charging slower). But there is no reason that my panels should be pulling 13kwh, the house using 2kwh, the battery at 57%, and it’s full sending all extra power to the grid instead of trying to store any of it. Let me charge my battery first. Then you can send any extra. If limited charging or even to hot to charge at the moment? Tell me. Show me a little symbol. Please. Thank you for reading my rant.

Good app but there can be improvements. Like the app overall but there are 2 things I think the developers so consider; 1) Adding a button in the climate control to shut off heated seats. I have read it is possible to shut it down but holding onto 1 of the seats for a few seconds but so far I have not been able to get this to work. I don’t use heated seats at all and to shut each individual one off every time in the app is cumbersome. 2) Setting charge time in the app. This would be a nice feature as I change my battery limit and time almost daily. I find myself walking to my car too often just to confirm I would have the correct power level for the trip next day. It would be much more convenient to be able to set both time and battery level in the app.

Few Little Issues. Very solid app. All features work as intended except for a few: 1. The schedule for preconditioning will randomly disappear or schedule itself based off an old/deleted scheduled preheat for no reason whatsoever. 2. App communication to the car can be buggy. admittedly, I've run in to this less and less as the updates come out; but sometimes the ability to simply open my car without unlocking it manually falters and have to unlock my phone and let my car recognize that I have my phone on me as well as the app already open. I understand requiring the app to be open on my phone - even though it'd be nice to bypass this with minimal battery drain (pipe dream probably) - but what sense does it make that i need to have my phone unlocked and awake in order for my car to recognize my orientation to it? If I need to have my phone unlocked and the app open, why wait until i get to my car for it to unlock for me? I could simply unlock it remotely from the app well before that. The benefit of my car being able to recognize my phone passively is lost if it is unable to do the passive part of the feature.

App Useless after Update. Based on later revisions of this app, the app no longer works with older Model S vehicles on slightly older software, as confirmed by other reviewers and other online reports of Model S owners (and potentially other older model Tesla vehicles). Although mobile access is allowed in the vehicle’s settings, my 2018 Model S falsely shows that access is disabled when viewing the app and does not allow any function whatsoever. Service cannot be scheduled, commands cannot be performed and vehicle cannot be controlled with the app anymore remotely. Only when the vehicle is an “awake” status, meaning car has been unlocked and activated/recognized by the app will the normal functions be present. Otherwise, app is useless when car is dormant and need to remotely access it. Hope Tesla can fix app to work with older model vehicles on slightly older software for owners who do not want to update to the latest and risk other problems/glitches with running legacy hardware on latest OS.

Model 3 better … charge like Powerwall. 4.x upgrade takes away one (arguably 2 stars). Looks like an agency designed it with limited usability research with existing solar / Powerwall users. Car updates are better. Previous feedback: Need better integration between car, solar, and Powerwall system so that the car charges like a Powerwall (takes all excess electricity… but doesn’t drain the battery if there is a demand surge). Also, it would be nice to change the charge rate for the car via the app. **update. Added one star bc of the addition of ability to manage Amp charge rate on car via the app. *** update 8/23 adding star for “charge with solar” with car / powerwalls. Perfect.

Great app to control the car but the solar component could use a few tweaks!. I have use this app for over two years to control and monitor my car and it has been great. In the last few months I have put up a 15 kWh solar array as well as added 3 Tesla powerwalls. I find the solar monitoring function of the app to be quite good with the exception of only two requests. It would be nice if the daily graph could also have a graph for a battery discharge as well as battery charge. It would also be excellent if there could be a date range set for the graph instead of just day, week, month and year. This way you could have a series of graphs that would represent your billing cycle. This would be very convenient to monitor your electric companies charges and data.

Very useful as a key, but inconsistent. Overall the app has nearly everything I’d expect for car integration. It would be great if a few extras could be added, like the ability to turn the lights off (if you’re like a kind normal person and switched from “illuminate mars” to “parking” when parking on your neighborhood street. It would be swell to see what driver profile is active when the car is unlocked also, great when sharing your car with friends or family. My one gripe is the inconsistency in which the car recognizes my phone as the key. Too many times I have to force quit the app to reload it, sometimes while even already in the car and driving (it will warn the the car won’t lock and has to have a key to start again once parked).

Best App for Car Control. I use the app every single day, have the extended widget for it, and am always happy with the regular improvements that are made. Let’s be clear that this app is better than all competitor apps. HOWEVER, there are features I would still love to see. As a back-seat camper who loves taking advantage of the seamless connection between trunk and cabin, I would love to see an advanced media control. Something to help me browse through Tesla Theater, Arcade, and my music all in one place. I often find it a struggle when I get comfortable and have to reach up to the infotainment screen to rewind, browse through video options, or even select the streaming service I would like to use. Using my phone as the infotainment remote would be amazing and I genuinely hope the members on the software/embedded team agree! Non-App-Related Note: When camping out in the back seat, the screen will shut off unless pressure is applied to the driver’s seat. So this is indeed another hurdle in of itself, but it would be awesome to see a little more of a tailored experience to us back seat campers! This could be useful for any passenger in the vehicle as well, but camping out in the back is my personal scenario.

Control Center Features are Half-Baked. I am reviewing only the new features for iOS 18’s control center. I added the ability to turn on my car’s climate control via control center, but the experience is frustratingly bad. The button in control center sticks. Let’s say I turn on climate control via control center, drive the car, and then several hours later check control center; it will erroneously show the climate control is still on. If I want to turn it on again what do I do? Turn it off and then back on? This is a poor user experience. Besides this I’ve noticed the button simply does not work some of the time. And then today I noticed the icon is blank on the button. There used to be a fan but not it’s just a blank circle. In fact, if I try to modify my control center and add other Tesla buttons they’re all blank. This feature is embarrassingly bad in its current state.

Getting Better. I use the app only to manage my solar panels and powerwalls and the app is quite good for that. It is also a little addictive to monitor. A couple of suggestions: The recent change of the power flow lines is an improvement. You may want to consider swapping the location of the electric meter and the powerwall/inverter since that is really the heart of the system (all the electricity flows through that). Also, it would be nice to navigate directly to different days, weeks, months or years rather than having to scroll through dozens of weeks or hundreds of day to get to a specific one. You could do this by allowing a “drill down” functionality from years to months to weeks to days. There are probably other ways. When down loading data, some way off differential naming when downloading would make it easier to find specific data. Even a year-month-day format would be good. It would also be helpful to download a whole years with of weekly, daily or even hourly data at a time. Finally, providing a comparison to previous days or months (January 2023 compared to January 2022) in graphical form by day would be great.

Thing to add to the app. It’s great with all the features it has on the app even before you have a Tesla. There is one thing that I would like to come to the app when you don’t have a Tesla and one thing I would like to add when you do. When you don’t have a Tesla and you’re seeing what it’s like when you get one it’s a demo model 3 refreshed but I wish instead of the model 3 I wish that there was a way to choose a Tesla like the model x, y or even a cyber truck and future Tesla cars. One thing that I would like to change when you have a Tesla is that you could do a light show from the app. But other than those to things the app and the car are great and probably the best.

Great car app. Updating after 5 months: I would give this app 6 stars if I could. It’s so rock solid reliable! One thing I didn’t realize at first is that I can send addresses to the car from Google Maps, Apple Maps, Yelp etc. It works every time, and when I get in the car it’s already navigating me. Coming from BMW I was used to a slow, badly implemented, constantly unreliable app that really only carried out a few simple functions. Reviews of MBz Toyota apps etc looked the same. I’ve had my car a week and am blown away by the difference here. Super reliable, quick, well designed and thought out. I really enjoy controlling and checking on my car with this app! I can tell that they have a great team of iOS developers who take real pride in making this app nice.

Total CROOKS and worse than used car salesmen. If you want to wildly overpay for a car that isn’t nearly as good as other cars in its price range this is the car for you. I had the misfortune of buying a new Tesla Model S - to begin with anything these Tesla salespeople/ representatives promise you or claim is a lie and they’re THIEVES who will rip you off. After paying an enormous amount of money- which btw the car is NOT remotely worth it, buy a Mercedes’, BMW, etc for MUCH LESS and it’ll be better quality - they now refuse to return my messages, refuse to provide the one year of free Tesla charging, and refuse to provide me with the $750 I was - confirmed in writing- promised by January- and then February. They’re such crooks even the description they use for your PICK UP is false, they call it on the Tesla app “delivery” - but you go to their dealership TO PICK IT UP. Tesla deserves zero stars after I sue them I’ll post the lawsuit here and on Facebook for Tesla’s other victims to review.
